Essay On World Peace
Crafting an essay on the subject of global harmony presents a unique set of challenges, often
reflecting the complexity inherent in addressing such a vast and multifaceted concept. At its
core, the pursuit of world peace demands a comprehensive understanding of diverse geopolitical
dynamics, historical conflicts, cultural nuances, and socio-economic disparities. Articulating
coherent arguments and solutions within the confines of an essay requires not only extensive
research but also critical thinking skills to navigate the intricate web of interconnected issues.
Moreover, the topic of world peace is inherently subjective, as perspectives on what constitutes
peace and how to achieve it can vary widely depending on one's background, beliefs, and
experiences. This necessitates a nuanced approach that acknowledges and reconciles divergent
viewpoints while striving for a balanced and inclusive discourse.
Furthermore, the sheer scope of the topic presents a formidable task in terms of organization and
structure. Attempting to cover the myriad aspects of global peace within the confines of a single
essay demands careful planning and prioritization to ensure coherence and relevance.
Despite these challenges, delving into the complexities of world peace offers an opportunity for
introspection and dialogue, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our
global community and the collective responsibility we share in shaping a more peaceful world.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the theme of global harmony is undeniably daunting, it
is also a rewarding endeavor that encourages critical thinking, empathy, and a commitment to
positive change.

Emilio Barzini Crime Family
Mr. Joey I. Lawless, an alleged associate of Emilio Barzini, who is the head of the

Southwest Airlines And United Airlines
Mission Statement Analysis
Southwest Airlines and United Airlines have been direct competitors in the airline
business for a number of years. As time has passed, we have seen Southwest take a
more Servant Leadership minded approach, while United decided upon a more
traditional style of Leadership. From their mission statements, along with reviews
from flyers and profitability, to the overall culture of the companies, we look to see
how these two airlines compete, and which one comes out on top.
Mission Statements
The mission statement is often publically stated and used by almost every
organization today. It helps provide basic guidelines, essentially the core values of a
company, and what they aim for. A mission statement gives customers... Show more

Not only was the mission statement or core values difficult to find, but the page
had a vague title called It s how we fly . The page seemed to assume that the reader
should just know what United was about and what they believed. The core values
seem placed there simply because it is required, not because they are values followed
by the actual organization. Both Airlines include words about customer service and
treating them well, but Southwest put it simply and concisely. United seemed more
focused on impressing readers with their core values. I believe that the Southwest
mission statement impacts the culture of the organization by being a definition of
what it should look like. Comparatively, I believe that United s core values impact
the culture very little if not at all.
Principles
Southwest Airlines is dedicated to incorporating all servant leadership principles
throughout their organization. Accordingly, their mission statement is clear and
concise it evidently exemplifies all principles and acknowledges a servant led
organization. Their mission statement embraces their commitment to serve the
highest quality of customer service through a sense of warmth, friendliness,
individual pride, and company spirit (Southwest, 2014). Therefore, through
Southwest s mission statement it makes it explicitly apparent that they seek to listen
and commit to the growth of their people. Southwest empathizes with their
employees because they are dedicated to providing

Left Versus Right Brain And The Impacts Learning Human brain has two
hemispheres with different function and each has an impact in human learning. The
left hemisphere The element of human linear reasoning and language is performed by
the left hemisphere. This means that it is the part of the brain responsible for things
as grammar and vocabulary (Kalat, 2009). With linear reasoning, this simply gives an
added advantage of numerical computation to the persons with the left brain part
being dominant (angelfire, 2011). The difference in students ability to solve
mathematical calculations is visible as students with dominant left hemisphere are

It is a problem for such students to extract direct facts on what they have learnt. This
is because their reasoning is random and intuitive which makes them follow instance
thoughts compared to the left brain dominant persons who have logical and rational
thinking.Due to their spatial manipulations, such persons are good in analysing three
dimensional forms and volumes. This means that in class, such persons prefer
instructions that are visual and those with examples for them to view the form as a
whole. Subjectivity is their form of thinking (Paradiso, Bears amp; Connors, 2007).
They value their views, desires, feelings, inventions, and beliefs as compared to
those from and objective perspective and score best in practices requiring personal
opinions and perspectives. In arguments and discussions, they value their standpoints
and are willing to defend it at all cost.During analysis and evaluation of a given
concept, the right hemisphere dominant persons look at thing as wholes and not
parts. These holistic syntheses of objects contribute to their visual and auditory
perceptions (Paradiso, Bears amp; Connors, 2007). It is also a contributing factor in
the ability to view facial perceptions. In language, individuals with right hemisphere
dominance are practical, with inclination to tones and emphasis. This factor makes
such persons to possess strong musical and art awareness. Compared to the
Role Of Ghost In Hamlet
Question 12
Shakespeare s introduction of a ghost in Hamlet serves various objectives in the
play, to the characters as well as the audience. The ghost is a controversial character
who challenges the audience s view of the plot, the motifs, as well as the flow of
events in the story. The appearance of the ghost is associated with tragedy, usually
where the humans entangle with the supernatural forces, but in this case, the ghost
seems to conform to human capabilities and relies on other human beings to meet its
objectives. The presentation of the ghost in the play, from its motives to its
appearance highlight the human traits over the supernatural capabilities. The
characteristics of the ghost suggest that it might be a construct of Hamlet, and his
friends, in trying to make sense of the events leading to the death of his father, as
well as a coping mechanism. The narrative gives Hamlet, a son who loved his
father, justification as well as the reason to execute revenge against his uncle who
took the father s life despite the deviation that exists in his character. Hamlet is
considered as the calm and collected character, and engaging in violence is not part
of his personality, and as such the conviction that Hamlet is mad.
The ghost is Hamlet is presented as a vengeful character, Hamlet s father, the fallen
king, murdered by his brother. These attributes of his character draw from the theme
of revenge associated with the works of Shakespeare, and the audience is allowed the

Why Were The Loyalists In The Early Twentieth Century
The loyalists had a long tradition of mural painting, dating back to the early
twentieth century in which they would paint murals to celebrate the Twelfth of July,
a day which commemorates the Protestant victory over Catholics at the Battle of
Boyne in 1690. Therefore, many of their murals reflect not only their ideals but
make figurative stabs at the nationalist and Catholic communities. These types of
murals remained mainly a holiday celebration until the 1980 s when nationalists,
frustrated at their own inability to legally create similar murals decided to step up
and begin doing so anyway, sparking rapid mural creation on both sides. The
republican mural tradition got a slow start for several reasons. Not only did they lack
the cultural celebratory reasons for creating them that the loyalists had, there were
also economic factors at play. A simple... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, while the Red Hand of Ulster was originally used by both sides it
came to symbolize the loyalists willingness to fight on, whatever the cost. The Red
Hand of Ulster supposedly refers to a mythic contest between local chieftains in
which the winner cut off his own hand in order to win the contest as well as to take
control of disputed territory. For the loyalists, they used the symbol to show that they
would sacrifice whatever was necessary to retain control of the territory they saw as
rightfully theirs and to prevent rule by the republican Irish. Loyalists often also used
the Union flag in their mural designs in an effort to link their cause with overall
British causes, eliciting sympathy and support from other British people outside of
Northern Ireland. Ultimately, loyalist murals tried to portray themselves as heroic
guardians of a fragile, but ultimately just, political system under constant threat from
the dangerous and violent terrorists of the republican

violinists who have all preformed multiple times in the past with The New York
Classical Players . The lead violinist was David Southorn who is the second most
well trained person in this group. Danbi Um, the second violinist, is an Israeli
violinist who mostly does solo work but she also is an extremely well experienced
violinist. She has performed in both America and Israel doing shows in concert halls
as well as on local television. The third, and most experienced violinist is Wei Yang

member of this group. That member was David Southorn. Mister Lin is currently a
faculty member at the Chinese Cultural Arts Institute in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

High School Censorship Persuasive Speech
Many college students today might say, Stick and stones may break my bones, but
words really offend me, so you can t say that. These students would be wrong
legally to prevent others from freely speaking their minds in public, but in a college
classroom they would be awarded.
Censoring is not only in college classrooms, but in high school classrooms as well.
It impedes on a student s ability to develop and learn, hinders their ability to prepare
for the modern day world. Although clichГ©, and very sadly so, it is very apparent
that today there is almost nothing that can be said that offends nobody. Thick skins
have been replaced with fragile minds, and college students do not even know the
extent of the first amendment. However, these same students believe they have the
right to interpret the amendment their own way, and some believe they have the right
to become the judiciary system if the speech doesn t appeal to them.
When determining an opinion on any argument, it is important to start with the facts.
In a survey taken by John Villasenor, forty percent of college students surveyed
believe that hate speech is not protected by the first amendment, and twenty percent
believe violence used to stop hate speech is acceptable. All those students are wrong.
Hate speech is protected by the first amendment, and using violence as justification
for ending hate speech is not legal.
While not everyone in society has to be a constitutional expert, college students today
are tomorrow s future lawyers, judges, police officers, etc. They need to at least know
the extent of the first amendment in the United States. Additionally, these students
should know that since hate speech is protected, responding with violence is by no
means the answer as they will be the only ones to find themselves in jail. These
students must lower their fists, and pull out the textbooks and construct the picket
signs, using vigorous debate and peaceful protests as their response to bigotry.
The other problem is that judges don t sit outside or around college campuses and
determine when someone s right to free speech is infringed. Therefore, when a
significant portion of the students believe they have the right to silence or prevent the

Separated Twins and the Genetics of Personality Differences: A Critique
Author(s): Jay Joseph
EDP 1002 : THEORIES OF PERSONALITIES
Introduction
Throughout history, across all cultures, people have been fascinated with twins. In
addition to interest in the close emotional ties and biological similarities that twins
may share, reports of special twin languages and twin extrasensory perception (ESP)
help people to explore ideas of what it means to be human. How similar or different
are they to each other? How important are genes and environment for development?
Because identical twins share all of their genes, it is the environment rather than
genetics that accounts for any differences between them. ... Show more content on

and Shields studies, MISTRA twins were discovered on the basis of similarity and
their knowledge of each other s existence. Also, Minnesota study also lack of case
histories and the failure to share data. Although most of the earlier researchers were
viewing twins through a hereditary lens, their descriptions provided a wealth of
information.
Method of research and Findings In this study, they are used several type of method,
one of the technique is used two or more test instrument to ensure the adequate
coverage, for example the participants were given a battery of personality and mental
ability tests, interest and value inventories and psychomotor tests. In addition,
separate of examiners administer the IQ test, life history interview, psychiatric
interview and sexual life history interview. The twin also complete questionnaire
independently under the constant supervision of the staff members. Twin studies are
valuable to researchers because identical twins share 100% of their genes and
fraternal twins share, on average, 50% of their genes. Both identical and fraternal
twins share certain aspects of their environment (e.g. religious practices in the home).
This allows researchers to estimate the heritability of certain traits. Participants are
asked about academic ability, personality, and interests; family and social
relationships; mental and physical health; physiological measurements. Of interest to
researchers are prevalence of psychopathology, substance
Viruses And Its Effects On Humans
Though viruses may seem as though it only has the potential to cause harm, recent
studies have surfaced to change its bad reputation. Common known viruses such as
Ebola, rabies, influenza, HIV and more are known to show harmful reactions to
humans, sometimes even possible to cause death. Because of the way they work,
viruses such as the human immunodeficiency virushas been looked into in terms of
reprogramming, ending in a result that could possibly be an option to treat another
catastrophic epidemic of humans, cancer.
What are viruses?
Viruses are small infectious agents that replicate inside the living cells of other
organisms. Viruses particles are one hundred times smaller than a human cell. Viruses
are not alive. They cannot grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the lytic cycle, the virus particle attaches itself to the host cell in a process called
absorption. The virus particle then injects either its DNA or RNA into the host
cell, in a process for entry. This invading DNA or RNA takes over the cell and
recruits the hosts enzymes**.(add citation)** These enzymes now start making
new virus particles, in a process called replication. The particles of the virus that
were created by the cell could then come together to form new viruses. These now
newly formed viruses can then kill the cell so they may break free through lysis
and search for a new host cell, in a process called release. The lysogenic cycle is
another form of viral reproduction that involves the fusion of the nucleic acid of a
bacteriophage with that of a host. Their viral genome will integrate with host DNA
and replicate along with it fairly harmlessly. This virus then remains dormant until
the hosts conditions deteriorate, which is when prophages become active. At this
point they initiate the reproductive cycle, resulting in lysis of the host cell. As the
cycle allows the host cell to continue to survive and reproduce, the virus is
reproduced in all of the cell s offspring (George 1996).
How does HIV affect the body?
Infection with HIV is particularly troublesome for the immune system because it
infects and destroys immune system cells.(Bagby, 2015) Untreated, the disease

The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Essay
The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Are there many ways that themes and
symbols can be shown in stories? Geoffrey Chaucer uses many different themes,
symbols and styles in writing all of tales in The Canterbury Tales. By using these
things, Geoffrey utilizes several specific symbols to illustrate various central
themes. The characters in the tales make the same mistakes that ordinary people
would make, and they receive the same or even worse consequences. One message
that is portrayed is greed can make people to evil actions. An example of this is in
The Pardoner s Tale, when the three friends wind up killing each other because of
their greed for the money. The second message that is displayed is that one should be
careful when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While he is gone the two other friends talk and plot actions to occur when he
returns. The one friend says to the other, You see that we are two, And two are
twice as powerful as one. Now look; when he comes back, get up in fun To have a
wrestle; then, as you attack, I ll up and put my dagger through his back While you
and he are struggling, as in game; Then draw your dagger too and do the same.
Then all this money will be ours to spend, Divided equally of course, dear friend.
(Page 163 line 166 174) By them both agreeing to this, they believe that they will
have more money to split between the two of them by killing the other one. This is
proof that they are greedy because all three of them found the money and each one
deserves their share of the money. Plus they are all friends with eachother and
should be splitting the money, not trying to stab each other in the back in order for
them to get more money. The next example showing how greed can deceive friends
is portrayed when the friend goes into town. As the other two were plotting a plan,
so was the friend that went to town. However, none of them thought that the other
friend would also be plotting kill them. He slyly says to himself, And so the Fiend,
our common enemy, Was given power to put it in his thought That there was always
poison to be bought, And that with poison he could kill his friends. To men in such a

The Pros And Cons Of Quebec Nationalism
When you hear the term Quebec Nationalism, what do you think of? A province that
has a distinct language and culture, or one that wishes to separate from Canada, or
both? The issue I would like to talk about is Quebec nationalism, is it compatible or
incompatible with a pan Canadian nationalism, or multiculturalism and should they
or should they not separate from Canada. In my opinion, while not experiencing
French Canadianlife, although another of my family members has, I feel that Quebec
Nationalism is not compatible with the rest of Canada, but we are the only thing
they have, and if Canada lets them go, they will not have enough resources
politically, monetarily, or military, since most of this is supplied to Quebec from the
rest of Canada. Since Quebec s defeat in the Rebellion of 1837, many Quebecois feel
that they have been subject to Anglophone domination from the rest of Canada
(Lamrick, 2015). Many of the French speaking citizens are also not willing to be
compatible with the rest of Canada s multicultural society. There is no reason,
though, to throw all the other willing French Canadians that want to be compatible
under the bus.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The federal government provides transfer payments to the province of Quebec for it
to be able to afford the necessary services it needs to provide to its citizens. If
Quebec were to separate because they feel that their unique nationalism is not
recognized, they would not have enough money for education, hospitals, and
government services and would have to heavily tax the citizens in order to pay for the
services the way they are today. Right now they enjoy cheap education with the
lowest University tuition (YIP, 2015), but it would significantly increase without the

Manufacturing Of Wooden Shoes And Aprons
Manufacturing Dutch wooden shoes and aprons
Stacie Hart
Trine University
Introduction
Mass manufacturing entails the production of products in large quantities and it s the
advantages that come with such kind of production that makes it attractive to many
manufacturing companies (Libralato et al., 2012). One of the advantages of mass
production is that all equipment, material and labor required are located under the
same roof. Mass manufacturing is profound in various industries including the
automobile industry, textile industry, and telecommunication industry among others
(Qiao et al., 2006).
This essay will delve on mass manufacturing of Dutch wooden shoes and aprons
including presentation of budget estimates where applicable. An in depth analysis
was conducted on existing literature on the same in order to understand the traditional
process of manufacturing these products followed by an analysis of some recent
literature explaining the modernized process of manufacturing these products. In
addition to that, the review of these literatures helped in understanding how the use of
these products has evolved over the years.
1st division: Wooden shoe manufacturing
The wooden Dutch clogs were water proof, which made them very useful while
working in marshy fields. Besides being used in fields while working, some of the
wooden shoes were made to look colorful so that they could be used to attend
occasions and even go to church. With industrialization, however,
Cirque Du Soleil Case Study
In an industry that was slowly declining, where audiences were decreasing, profits
and revenues were at an all time low and various forms of entertainment were
booming, Cirque du Soleil reinvented the circus by exemplifying less traditional
circus ideas. At this time competitors such as Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey
Circus, were continuing to use a more customary strategy by maintaining a red
ocean strategic approach. Red ocean strategy is labelled by companies trying to
outperform their rivals to grab a greater share of existing demand. Essentially as the
market place becomes oversaturated, profits and growth ability reduce and
competition rises. Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus once being the global
champions of the industry, attempted to outcompete its competitors by tweaking
circus acts and hiring famous clowns and lions to create more appeal. Cirque du Soleil
had a different strategic approach, one that made it the top competitor in the world
wide entertainment industry today. By observing the issues with the circus industry s
outdated business model, Cirque du Soleil saw an opportunity to challenge the
conventions of the circus industry. By using a blue ocean strategic approach, Cirque
du Soleil was able to refine the problem within the industry instead of using the more
conventional method and tweaking outdated acts. Cirque du Soleil did not pay
attention to the other competitors in the market place, instead they appealed to an
unpenetrated market

When deciding to expand your international market PEST analysis must be
considered. This would give an overview of the different macroeconomic factors
the company has to take into consideration. The PEST approach looks at political,
economic, social and technological factors. The political factor looks at how a
government interferes in the economy in areas such as trade restrictions, tax policy,
and tariffs. Economics factors have great influence in how business operates and
makes decisions about how it needs to grow or expand its business. Social factors
look at the cultural behavior such as attitudes and values and demography of a
country. These social factors affect the demand of a company s product.
Technological factors determine barrier to entry, production level and influence
outsourcing decisions. Using this approach we selected the following regions for

What Is The Psychological, Social And Cultural Aspects Of...
From the time we are born, we are taught the correct way to act within society. We
are taught the rules of conduct of society and we learn to follow them in order to be
socially normal. The second we are born or even before we are born we are
determined a gender. The rest of our life and the way we are expected to act revolves
around that gender. Our gender shapes who we are expected to be and shapes an
image in our parents head of who they want us to be. Gender plays a key role
throughout our life, it is defined as the psychological, social and cultural aspects of
masculinity and femininity(butler sweet,c,2017). Masculinity and femininity have
been standardized into their own stereotypes. For example, masculine is known as
aggression, competitive, brave, etc. While feminine is known as sensitive, weak,
nurturing, etc. Because of these traits and these stereotypes masculinity holds a
higher power over femininity. Therefore, when the parents have the child and they
find out what gender they are they automatically uphold them and raise them
according to these standards. This begins to refer to gender socialization which is
the process by which we learn the rules and conduct the behavior of masculinity and
femininity (butler sweet,c,2017). Meaning, that from a young age, we learn the
correct way to act within society, including the correct way to act according to our
biological gender. Once our parents know if we are a boy or a girlthey decorate our
room a certain way,
Benefits Of Attending A Community College
Students nowadays face many challenges when it comes to obtaining a college
education. We evaluate an institution s quality based on what we need the most. The
qualities sought out may vary by each person s personal point of view. However, as a
student, I ve found that most students seek for an institute that benefits them the
most. Attending a community collegehas been an enormous advantage towards my
education. I have been attending San Bernardino Valley College for the last two
semesters. I have come to respect their philosophies and values. The institution has
now been in business for 87 years. They venture to encourage both students and
faculty towards high standards of achievement and progress into exceptional
members of the society. They now offer a variety of degrees, transfer programs and
certificates for a wide range of students. San Bernardino Valley College has an
accomplished staff, student support services and technological tools that pave the
road towards the conquest of a quality education.
Benefits of attending a community college as opposed to a traditional university tend
to be overlooked by potential students. They are either unaware of its advantages or
do not fully understand how this type of education can benefit their cause. Year after
year large amounts of students choose to go straight from high school and in to four
year universities. The problem with this particular situations is that universities in
general tend to have 50 400 students in one
Domino Effect Essay
Vietnam constantly battled for independence after it became a colony of France in
the late 19th century. After declaring their independence from the French at the end
of World War II, Vietnam became divided and started a civil war between the
communist North and the democratic South. Across the ocean, the United States
feared that Communism rising in the Soviet Union and China would threaten the
independence of their country; to prevent this from occurring, the United States
supported the South in the Vietnamese civil war. The attempt of the United States to
protect their freedom would prove to harm the Vietnamese in countless ways.
President Dwight Eisenhower s Domino Effect focused on removing the threat of
communism in Europe and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He introduced the Domino Effect to justify America s involvement in the Vietnam
War. You have a row of dominoes set up, he told reporters at a 1954 press
conference. You knock over the first one, and what will happen to the last one is a
certainty it will go over quickly. If Vietnam fell to Communism, then the theory
assumed that Cambodia and Laos would soon become Communist. Thailand,
Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines would follow shortly after. Once these
countries fell to Communism, it would only be a short time before the democracy of
the United States would be at risk. The country that posed the biggest threat was
China, a newly formed Communist country in
The Queen Who Understood Her People
Alexandrina Victoria was destined to be Queen of England from the moment of
her conception. Commonly referred to as the queen who understood the people,
Victoria spent her entire childhood preparing to take the throne of England. In fact,
the future Empress of India didn t have much of a childhood. She was allowed
very little freedom in her early life, which caused her to ban her mother from court
upon her coronation (Turner). Victoria evidently liked to be in control of things and
certainly used this to make her mark on history. As the longest reigning monarch at
the time, Victoria had 60 years to influence England (All Empires). Queen Victoria
impacted history and the 19th Century in many ways, through culture, politics and
morality. Queen Victoria is perhaps most famous for popularizing the white
wedding dress (Woodham Smith). At the time, women were married in dresses of
almost any color. However, when pictures of the queen in a beautiful white dress
circulated, women began to imitate her example, just as they imitated her hairstyle
on the postage (Queen Victoria Penny Black Single). After it became evident that
Victoria and her new husband Albert were truly in love the white wedding dress
became a romantic symbol of true love. Indeed, Victoria was so in love with her
husband that she became quite useless for many years after his death. Her approach
to marriage was so different from most royals that it caused people to take notice.

Describe the Expected Pattern of Children and Young...
TDA 2.1 Child and Young Person Development
1.1 Describe the expected pattern of children and young people s development from
birth to 19 years, to include: physical, social, emotional, behavioural, intellectual and
communicational development.
Through a young person s development, from birth to 19 they are expected to follow
a development pattern including physical, social, environmental, behavioural,
intellectual and communicational. The expected pattern is seen as the average time
period it would take to accomplish these skills. In this assignment I will discuss the
main stages of development and how it can sometimes differ for different sexes.
The expected pattern starts at 0 3 years where a child is expected to develop the most.

Many children have discovered an interest within a skilled area such as football,
athletics, horse riding or netball etc. all using different skills to progress in their
desired hobby. From the age of 10/11, girls will show early signs of puberty and
another period of rapid physical growth. A skill that is attained in this age bracket
is time keeping, children begin to realise the concept of time and their
independence is greater. Children s friendship will become more settled and this
is when groups form. They will become aware of what others think, so they start to
take care with their appearance and become more conscious about what they say.
By the age of 12, children should be fluent speakers of a language and be at a good
standard of reading and writing. They should be able to solve problems and carry out
skills within a physical activity e.g. balancing, co ordination and agility.
Progressing on from 12, children are at a vulnerable stage with self esteem. Their
bodies will be changing and they will be making decisions about their futures. Boys
will be starting to go through puberty whilst many girls will have completed the
process. Communication and intellectual development has slightly different brackets,
ages 12 18 laps over with 16 19. Youngpeople will usually have an idea about their
favourite subjects and are motivated in those areas, making sure they achieve good
results. This enables them to carry over their achievements to their career choice,

Microwaves Use High Powered Radio Waves And The
Water...
Microwaves use high powered radio waves generated by a vacuum tube (also known
as a magnetron) to heat up the drink and foodstuff placed within them. The high
powered radio waves are channelled into the food compartment through a waveguide,
and they heat up the food by interacting with the water molecules in the foodstuff.
The greatest interaction between the high powered radio waves and the water
molecules occur at the greatest amplitude of the waves, at points on the wave where
the amplitude is equal to zero, there will be no interaction between the high powered
radio waves and the water molecules, so this point is a cold spot within the
microwave.
The electromagnetic waves coming from the vacuum tube change direction almost

In order to calculate the total energy input from the microwave to the water, we use
this equation:
Q = mc О”T
Then we divide our answers by the amount of seconds the water was left in the
microwave for.
When we know the rate of energy input into the water we can then work out the total
energy efficiency by dividing the energy transferred into the water by the total
amount of energy the microwave draws from the socket. The energy input from the
socket to the microwave used, is 1000 watts
Q = the heat energy transferred in Joules (J) m = the mass of water used, (1 ml of
water = 1 g of water) in grams (g) c = the specific heat capacity of water (this is 4181
J / Kg oC)
О”T = change in the temperature of the water
The Place And Time Of Origin Of Judaism
The place and time of origin of Judaism was in the Middle East 1500 BC; this
religion was formed over several centuries. Christianity was formed in Jerusalem
approximately 33 AD. Traditionally, both Judaism and Christianity believe in the
God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, for Jews the God of the Tanakh, for Christians the
Godof the Old Testament, the creator of the universe. Judaismand major sects of
Christianityreject the view that God is entirely immanent and within the world as a
physical presence. Both religions reject the view that God is entirely transcendent,
and thus separate from the world, as the pre Christian Greek Unknown God. Both
religions reject atheism on one hand and polytheism on the other.
Both religions agree that God shares both transcendent and immanent qualities.
How these religions resolve this issue is where the religions differ. Christianity
posits that God exists as a Trinity; in this view God exists as three distinct persons
who share a single divine essence, or substance. In those three there is one, and in
that one there are three; the one God is indivisible, while the three persons are
distinct and unconfused, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. It
teaches that God became especially immanent in physical form through the
Incarnation of God the Son who was born as Jesus of Nazareth, who is believed to
be at once fully God and fully human. There are denominations self describing as
Christian who question one or more of these
The Last September Essay
h bowen Published in 1929 The Last September written by Elizabeth Bowen
highlights the difficulties which faced the Irish Anglo genre. It was one of many
novels published in the nineteenth and twentieth century, based on Big House life
in Ireland. Bowen herself is critical of the Anglo Irish gentry as she believes that
they are responsible for the downfall in the society. The denial of their predicament
and also their refusal to except change had caused Bowen to be censorious of them.
She expresses her points of symbolism, imagery and characterization using a variety
of tactful techniques. In the analysis these factors and techniques will be discussed in
greater detail. She was to later describe her writing as verbal paintings ... Show more

The author emphasizes the pressure that is now forcing Lois to marry and to
produce an heir so the property can be passed on for more generations. Lois no
longer sees Big House lifestyle as viable and therefore further adds to the
confusion in which she is facing. Lois, as the only alternative heir, complains that
she feels trapped in a cocoon and longs for some other kind of existence. (Genet., J,
p149, 1991) The ante room in which Lois visits frequently serves no particular
purpose and therefore symbolizes that indeed the room compares to Lois feelings
within herself of feeling lost and lonely. In her life deprived as she saw it there was
no occasion for courage, which like an unused muscle slackened and slept (Bowen.,
E, p33, 1998) Another point which suggests Lois is lost and confused is the fact that
often spends time walking outside the boundaries of the house which symbolizes her
need to escape from this façade, the so called birthright of her generation.
Fantasizing how life would be with out having the responsibility of running the
Danielstown House. Throughout the novel Bowen uses the unusual technique of
personifying the Danielstown house. It is a presence that becomes frequent
throughout the poem. (For in February, before those leaves had visibly budded, the
death execution, rather of the three houses... Had occurred on the same night.)
To Kill A Mockingbird Diction Analysis
The way parents treat their children shapes their personality. Atticus Finch treats
his child Scout in a positive and mature manner. He is able to be the important
father figure she needs, while teaching her invaluable life lessons on the way. To
Kill A Mockingbird is a fictional story written by Harper Lee, that uses esoteric
diction and realistic dialogue to portray how parents shape their child s
personality. In the book Lee uses diction to help develop the plot. Also she uses
diction in a way that helps the reader understand what lesson Atticus is trying to
teach. Scout, said Atticus, nigger lover is just one of those terms that don t mean
anything like snot nose. It s hard to explain ignorant, trashy people use it when
they think somebody s favoring Negroes over and above themselves. It s slipped
into usage with some people like ourselves, when they want a common, ugly term
to label somebody. You aren t really a nigger lover, then, are you? I certainly am. I
do my best to love everybody... I m hard put, sometimes baby, it s never an insult to
be called what somebody thinks is a bad name. It just shows you how poor that
person is, it doesn t hurt you. (Lee 108). This epic instance of dialogue between
Atticus and Scout is a perfect example of how Atticus teaches Scout in a mature way.
Where Atticus he proposes that she critically think to understand what he is really
talking about.that she will understand. Atticus proves to us that he is least affected by
Themes In Amazing Grace
The film Amazing Grace tells the story of William Wilberforce a member of the
English Parliament in the late 18th century and the early 19th, with emphasis on his
passionate pursuit of abolishing the slave trade in England. This pursuit began in
earnest after having an encounter with God, which caused him to deliberate whether
to continue in politics or follow become a monk and live a life of solitude. John
Newton the priest of his childhood and the author of the song Amazing Grace
convinced him to serve God by serving in Parliament. I recommend this movie to
anyone interested in the abolitionist movement or someone looking for a model of
how to serve God while working outside of ministry. Two themes with a total of five
questions have been posed that relate to this movie and to life in general.
Theme: The First to Care
1.Among the first people to be heavily involved in the abolition movement in Great
Britain and the US were members of religious groups like the Quakers. Why do you
think this was so?
2.Why would this have been important to a young politician like Wilberforce and to
the world of politics itself?

many like it were the driving force behind the Quakers changing from acceptance
of slavery to fighting to end it. The abolition campaign in Britain was started by the
Society of Friends, known as the Quakers. Quakers believe that all people are

Poverty in Less Developed Countries Essay
Poverty in Developing and Less Developed Countries
The world includes less developed countries and developing countries. Less
developed countries are countries considered to be poor and often contain many
people who are in absolute poverty. Developing countries are countries like India,
which are gaining in wealth.
There are two types of poverty within the world. Absolute poverty is where people
don t have enough money to provide standard living conditions for themselves and
characteristics of substandard lives are disease, malnutrition, and low life
expectancy. Relative poverty is where a person is considered poor in relation to the
average wealth held in their society.
Poverty is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The disasters cause poverty because these countries are often weak financially and
cannot afford to restore their country after extensive damage. Therefore due to lack
of resources the situation gets worse. It affects their inhabitant s lives causing a
lack of production leading to being unable to provide for citizens. In turn leading to
poverty, as they cannot even provide substances to trade and lose money. Other
factors that affect the lives of citizens are lack of clean water and standard
education. Lack of medical aid also affects the country badly. An ill and uneducated
workforce forms the basis of a weak, demoralised nation. These factors also lead to
poverty.
Frequently, when a country in the developing world is struggling economically they
appeal for aid from organisations like the international monetary fund or the World
Bank. They are issued loans from developed countries like the USA and England at
a high rate of interest. They are required to pay over time, but the interest rates are
so high that the country often finds itself in further debt than before the loan. This
problem is defined as world debt. Suggestions made recently have been that all debt
to be paid by the developing world should be written off and a fresh start made.
However the problem
Simple Subjectivism
In this essay I will talk about what simple subjectivism is and the problems of the
impossibility of moral disagreement. First I will define ethical subjectivism and the
different version of subjectivism known as simple subjectivism. Then I will explain
why simple subjectivism makes a disagreement impossible. Lastly, I will explain why
the consequence of simple subjectivism creates a problem for the moral judgement
theory.
Ethical subjectivism is the theory that describes the nature of moral judgement; it is
defined as our opinions based on our feeling and emotions. However, Rachels
believes that morality is concerned because there are no facts or objective truth in
morality nor is there anyone right even when there is available evidence. (Rachels
36). It is the different feelings that people have that creates the argument. Jerry
Falwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Rachels 37). In other words, our moral statements is based on how we behave
regarding an issue. Simple subjectivism is open to several objections, there are two
main objections to simple subjectivism. First is that whenever someone is making a
moral agreement, no one is ever right. The second is that simple subjectivism makes
disagreement impossible to argue. If we look back at this statement whether
Homosexuality is immoral , there are many who would disapprove of this statement
and many would approve. Matt Foreman does not believe that homosexuality is
immoral. It may look that both Foreman and Falwell disagree but simple subjectivism
says otherwise. According to simple subjectivism when foreman says that the
homosexuality is immoral, he stated only his attitude not a fact; he is just stating that
he does not disapprove homosexuality. Falwell would agree that Foreman does not
disapprove homosexuality and Foreman would agree that Falwell does not approve
Essay on Should Bilingual Education Be Taught In Schools
Of the 281 million people age 5 and older in the United States in 2007, 55.4 million
individuals or 20 percent reported speaking a language other than English at home.
(Newsroom) As the number of non English speaking people in our country increases
there is also a debate going on as well. This debate is over whether American Schools
should offer a bilingual educationto accommodate these people or not. Bilingual
Educationis the practice of teaching non English speaking children in their native

A higher education leads to a better career outlook for all students. The ability to
speak English is almost a necessity for success in our country.
In today s society many people look down on people who seem to be different.
This is the case with Rodriguez in The Achievement of Success . Newt Gingrich, a
possible presidential hopeful in 2007, proposed the idea that The American people
believe English should be the official language of the government...We should
replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common
language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language
of living in a ghetto. (At Issue, 57) In The Achievement of Success Rodriguez
writes that There may be some things about him that recall his beginnings his
shabby clothes, his persistent poverty; or his dark skin (in those cases when it
symbolizes his parents disadvantaged condition) but they only make clear how far he
has moved from his past. He has used education to remake himself. Rodriguez clearly
blames his success with his education and the fact that it made him more important.
He believes that his education made him a better person and someone who fit in with
the rest of the people in America.
Many people believe that by offering bilingual education it would make other

My Orchard
My orchard had a lot to teach me. The trees respond to life according to the
seasons; I needed to honor that cycle inside of me. There would be a spring with
the budding of new growth and then a summer where the new and improved me
would blossom and bear fruit. Fall would be the harvest and celebration of me.
Winter was the time to let go of who I thought I had become in order to make room
for the growth of yet a more authentic me. Life is a process, or better yet, a journey
that has its own destination. My destination was rarely known even though I set
goals and intentions for myself. Houston had served as my Oz and I, like Dorothy,
had returned home again, not only to Sedona but also more importantly, to myself.
There s no place like home.

that were turned into herbal remedies. The company s relaxed environment and
interesting employees made it fun to work there. Best of all, the organically grown

I sometimes worked with a very unusual plant, the carnivorous Pitcher plant. It is

A projector accomplishes this task by shining a light beam through an opening
controlled by a device called an iris diaphragm. An iris diaphragm is made of thin,
opaque plates, and turning a ring changes the diameter of the central opening. For
optical camouflage to work properly, this opening must be the size of a pinhole.
Why? This ensures a larger depth of field so that the screen (in this case the cloak)
can be located any distance from the projector.
The Combiner:
The system requires a special mirror to both reflect the projected image toward the
cloak and to let light rays bouncing off the cloak return to the user s eye. This
special mirror is called a beam splitter, or a combiner a half silvered mirror that both
reflects light (the silvered half) and transmits light (the transparent half). If properly
positioned in front of the user s eye, the combiner allows the user to perceive both
the image enhanced by the computer and light from the surrounding world. This is
critical because the computer generated image and the real world scene must be fully
integrated for the illusion of invisibility to seem realistic. The user has to look through
a peephole in this mirror to see the augmented reality.
INVISIBILITY CLOAK SYSTEM:
Now let s put all of these components together to see how the invisibility cloak
appears to make a person transparent. The diagram below shows the typical
Theme Of Lady Lazarus
Sylvia Plath s disturbing, malevolent poem, Lady Lazarus is one which features a
complex character that has began to abhor life. The poem takes the form of a
dramatic monologue and describes an, obviously, disturbed woman s failed suicide
attempts and eventual success and resurrection. In addition, the poem focuses on
Lady Lazarus suffering under female oppression and alienation from the rest of the
world. The character is presented to be one that suffers from feelings of oppression,
deep depression and mental instability. This aspect of characterisation is significant to
the impact of the poem as it contributes to the dark, disturbing atmosphere made
apparent in the first tercet and makes the reader feel Lazarus genuine heart felt
emotion of anguish.
The sinister characteristic and overall complexity of Lady Lazarus is created through
the first four tercets when she shares her graphic views of life and death and compares
her feelings of oppression and insignificance to that of the Jews during the
holocaust, this imagery of her burning in a crematorium is exploited later on when
she rises from the ashes and eat(s) men like air ; the holocaust is also a symbol of
her own suffering. The poem begins with a sense of ambiguity which leaves the
reader questioning what Lady Lazarus is referring to when she mentions it . Before
long it is revealed that she is referring to death; this gives ... Show more content on

This contrast between good and evil shows how she is battling a higher power of
evil within her. The repetition of the word beware acts as a brutal threat that warns

awaits them should they stand in her way or push her too far. The poem concludes
on a jarring note:

Different Types Of Street Gangs
STREET GANGS
Abstract
This paper explores three different types of street gangs. These gangs are the Black
Disciples, the Mongols, and the Bloods and the Crips. The paper talks about the
activities that these gangs are involved in, and also covers at least three different
topics for each gang. This paper also examines the information that people should
know about these certain types of gangs. The paper covers background
information of each of these gangs, criminal activities they are involved in, and the
rise of them since the gang was created. By reading this paper you will learn of
how many people are actually in each of these gangs and also where they can be
found or located at around the world. All of the gangs explored in this paper are
very dangerous, well organized, and sophisticated which makes them a bigger
threat to society. Therefore by reading this paper you will be informed about these
gangs and maybe can find a way to stop the violent crimes they commit because
gang activity is on the rise and will be for a long time.

Persuasive Speech On Dishwashers
Dishwashers have two prominent advantages for us which are saving our works
and saving energy. It s a matter of wonder that some people are still using
dishwashing machines that were bought five years ago or a decade ago because
the newest devices are way better with its efficiency, cleaning performance and
quietness of operation. Many more features have been evolved a lot since last ten
years. With cheaper and older washing machines, you had to pre rinse your dishes.
But now here we present you 5 most useful and money worth dish washer in 2016
with the best brands.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST DISHWASHER?
CONVENIENCE
The most important thing while choosing the best dishwasher is the ease of its use.
For the top dishwashers, it means convenient loading.
CAPACITY
If you are about to buy a built in dishwasher, the proper consideration is a standard
24 inches model. This one is a good option for twelve to fourteen place settings.
There you also have 18 inches built in dishwashers, but they are better for a small
kitchen of a small family who will use dishwashing machines seldom. Countertop
portable dishwasher is great for small families and couples, because it supports 4 6
place settings
MULTIPLE CYCLES
You need to consider such a washing machine that allows you to adjust racks having
many silverware slots and fold down tines. A dishwasher with multiple cycles is that
s why recommended. The ideal dishwasher is that adapts to the food it has to be
cleaned and the type of the dishes
Racism In Richard Stapry By Edwin Arlington Robinson
America is a combination of diverse countries, making defining American culture a
difficult task. In Brent Staples Just Walk On By a true story is shared about a
lifelong experience of racist interactions just because of his skin color. In the poem
Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, everyone wanted to have the life of the
man in the poem. People praised him for his materialistic attributes, but in the end he
committed suicide. Stevie Wondercomposed a song called Village Ghetto Land
explaining the social inequality. The artists Staples, Robinson, and Wonder
execute American culture as one that is plagued with racist, greedy, and inequality.
Racism is one of the biggest flaws humanity has exercised throughout history and
continues to exercise in modern day society. Racism has affected people s lives in
various negative ways. In Brent Staples story Just walk on by . Staples discusses
how people automatically assume the worst about him just because he s black.
When someone would see him they would make the assumption that he s a mugger
or a rapist. In one of his incidents Staples came across a woman late at night and
notices how her behavior changes when she noticed him walking behind her. As I
swung onto the avenue behind her, Here seemed to be a discreet, uninflammatory
distance between us. Not so. She cast back a worried glance. To that the youngish

The Three Main Factors Of The Determinants Of Job...
3.4 Determinants of job satisfaction Determinants of job satisfaction are various
features of the job environment and which are considered the causes of job
satisfaction. These features include characteristics of jobs and job tasks, as well as
various aspects of the organization (Spector, 2000). According to Spector (1997),
determinants of job satisfaction can be classified into two major categories; First, the
job environment itself and factors associated with the job are important influences on
job satisfaction. This includes how people are treated, the nature of job tasks,
relations with other people in the workplace, and rewards. Second, there are
individual factors that the person brings to the job. This includes both personality and
prior experiences; both categories of the determinants often work together to
influence employee job satisfaction. While Furnham (1992) and Ting (1996, 1997)
noted that despite the variety of variables suggested as having a major, minor or
moderating effects on job satisfaction, it is possible to divide these factors into three
distinct groups (1) Job characteristics, these included five sub variables: supervisory
position, skill utilization, satisfaction with pay, satisfaction with the tasks, and
satisfaction with working conditions (2) Organizational characteristics, these included
two sub... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This classification is similar to the previous one; the author mixed between the job
characteristics and the organizational characteristics and put them in one factor (work
situation). The individual characteristics equal to the personality factor in the new
classification. George and Jones (2000) only added one new factor in this
classification. It is the social influence. The study explains each of them as
What Is The Theme Of Death In The Garden Party And...
Death as a theme in literature is as old as the concept of literature itself. Experiencing
someone important to oneself dying is something most human beings can connect to.
The difference is how one perceives death and how one deals with it on an emotional
level. There are countless examples of books with different, unique interpretations of
deathbut this essay will focus on just two: Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party
and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both of these stories have main characters that
must come to terms with death but the ways they go about it and the conclusions
they come to are vastly different. Death is used as a literary device to show the
benefits of letting go and acceptance of things that people can not change in both The
Garden Party and Frankenstein by showing opposite ways one can handle death and
the results of those choices.
Death in The Garden Party evolves from being a horrible thing that happens to be a
beautiful, peaceful conclusion of someone s life. This change in perception comes to
the main character, Laura, as she matures from a child into an adult. As Laura
changes throughout the story she goes from treating death as a tragedy to accepting
it as a natural event in everyone s life. After she visits the woman whose husband
died the narrator states What did garden parties and baskets and lace frocks matter
to him? He was far from all those things (Mansfield 81). This interpretation of Laura
s feelings by the narrator shows how now she

competitive. So, Infosys consulting is certainly in the process of changing the rules of
the game in consulting industry.
Advantages and disadvantages of the model and base in India

Five Residential Plumbing Myths Debunked
There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to plumbing. If you are a
homeowner, you might be unknowingly making huge mistakes based on these myths.
Fortunately, by knowing what these common myths are you can avoid future
plumbing problems. Here are five of the biggest residential plumbing myths
debunked:
1. It s Completely Normal For Faucets To Drip
If you are like most people, you probably don t give much thought to a dripping
faucet. You might even think it s normal. However, a dripping faucet is a huge
indicator that there is a serious problem lurking in your plumbing system. Not only
does dripping water cost you extra money on your water bill, it can also affect your
water pressure. So if you begin to notice that faucets around your home are dripping,
consult a professional plumber. An inspection can reveal... Show more content on

Everything Is Fine If It Drains Quickly
Perhaps one of the most costly myths is that the drains are fine, as long as the
water drains quickly. While this does make sense, it s not true. Clogs are often
caused by debris buildup that occurs over time. So just because everything seems to
be working fine, doesn t actually mean it is fine. This is why you should always be
proactive and have a plumber inspect and clean your plumbing system regularly.
4. Ice Cubes Sharpen Garbage Disposal Blades
Another common misconception is that ice cubes sharpen garbage disposal blades.
Unfortunately, this isn t true at all. In fact, tossing ice cubes down your garbage
disposal might actually dull the blades. This is because ice is abrasive and tough on
the blades.
5. A Plunger Will Solve The Clog
Finally, if you are like most people you probably believe that all you need is a
plunger to remove clogs. While a plunger certainly can be used, it s not always the
best tool for the job. In some cases, a plunger might not fix the problem at all. So
always have a snake or an auger on hand, as these two tools can also help remove
clogs or buildup in the pipe
The Social Determinants Of Health
Conditions of birth and people s growth, lifestyles, occupations and age strongly
influence their health. This essay focuses on children between the ages of zero to 19
and examines what the social determinants of health are. Firstly, it attempts to analyse
poverty, family violence, addiction and the impacts on the health of younger New
Zealanders who are exposed to those determinants. Secondly, strategies, initiatives and
prevention services are identified at national, regional and local levels to investigate
what the government and other non government organisations are doing to ensure
that the rights of children are being upheld. Children deserve to have the best start in
life to enable healthy growth and development of their own special skills and talents.
They need warm, healthy homes to live in, good nutritious food to give them energy
to grow and learn, and opportunities for education, along with other activities that
help them progress through life. They need the support and care of their parents,
whanau and communities that have their best interests at heart. The circumstances
in which people live are shaped by the distribution of resources, power and money
at global, national and local levels. Economics, social policies and politics all have a
part to play (World Health Organisation [WHO], 2016). Social determinants look at
key aspects of peoples living and working circumstances, and what the implications of
these circumstances are on their long term health.
Hospital Vs Non-Profit Hospital
I chose to compare the operation management between the for profit hospitals to
non profit hospitals. I chose this topic because I have worked for both. My degree is
going to be Associates of Occupation Health for Medical Billing and Coding. I am
also a License Practical Nurse. In Fort Smith were I last worked we had a private
owned hospital, Non profit hospital and a community owned hospital. People had a
choice on where to go. Around here in Tulsa there are multi hospitals to choose from.
When you go to a hospital it is very important to pick the right one for your family.
Unless you have a HMO plan that tells you which one to choose, you can go to any
hospital in the area. It is best to check with your insurance company to see which
one is in your network. It is always best to go with you re the hospital in your
network. The difference between these hospitals are that Community based hospital
is financial supported by the community. The one in the Fort Smith area was Summit.
The county was the one to start it to help with the low income families in the
northern area close to Van Buren. It was not big and had bare minimum medical
services. The taxes in the area help start and continue to support the hospital. We don t
have a lot of community based hospital in the United States ... Show more content on

The ambulance took them to Sparks. Because Sparks Regional is known for their
Heart Center. Sparks emergency physician stabilized the patient then put back into

one of those plans that had $5000.00 deductible. The patient had another heart ache
in the ambulance on the ride over. He almost did not make it. It was just a 30 minute
drive. The EMT was working on him pretty much the whole way over. The patient

Radio Analysis
Radio Analysis 1. Introduction Every day, many people tune in to radio news. In
Britain alone, every week over 12 million listen to news bulletins from the British
Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on five radio networks. The language of the news
media, especially of radio news, offers a number of areas which are worth researching
and investigating. An investigation of the linguistic features of the language in radio
news similar to any other investigation needs a definition of what is to be studied. I
will start by providing some background information to the topic В‘radio , namely by
summing up the most important events in the history of radio. After illustrating the
most interesting turning points of the development of radio in the... Show more

When Idzarda started broadcasting in 1919 his audience was small. Mainly
technical enthousiasts tuned in to the regular transmissions. From 1924, many
dutch organisations founded broadcasting organisations, which was an important
step to bring radio to the people. When Philips introduced a simple to operate
radioset in 1927, radio got booming. 3. News on the radio News is not reality, but a
supply of sources potrayals of reality, mediated by news organisations. Leon V.
Sigal, quoted in Manoff and Schudson, Reading the News 3.1 What is news? Even
if limited to just a minute or two at the top of each hour, news act as a punctuation
mark between programmes or time periods. According to Barnard (2000: 139), the
news is often В„a measure of a station s credibility and a major factor in the buying
and selling of media on an international scale . One could say that the news is
constituted of an accurate, balanced and timely reportage on the events of the day,
or a combination of what will interest and engage the public. But the primary point
is that news never just В‘happens : what appears in a bulletin is an attempt to a
comprehensible interpretation of selected events, and as such is never wholly value
free. (cf. Barnard 2000: 139 149) 3.2 News values The purpose of news is to
translate what is happening in the world in terms that make it comprehendable В–
that is, understandable according to listener expectations and experience. This tends to
Idealism And Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius
Berkeleyan Idealism and Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius
Jorge Luis Borges short work of fiction titled Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius grapples
with many philosophic issues. In the main, this short story deals with the philosophic
notion of subjective idealism as posed by George Berkeley s Treatise Concerning
Principles of Human Knowledge. Within this essay I argue that, while he
acknowledges the presumed irrefutability of Berkeley s argument, Borges Tlön,
Uqbar, Orbis Tertius aims to disparage both totalitarianism and Berkeleyan idealism
by drawing an analogy between the two via his literary creation of the fictitious
world of Tlön.
The notion of subjective idealism, within western philosophy, is credited to the 18th
century philosopher George Berkeley. In his most notable work regarding this system
of metaphysics, a Treatise Concerning Principles of Human Knowledge, Berkeley
holds that nothing exists outside of the immaterial ideas within minds. Esse est
percipi or to be is to be perceived (Berkeley,11). Berkley s form of subjective
idealism is able to avoid the problem of solipsism by his holding that the totality of
perceived ideas reside in the mind of God. This monistic system of metaphysics
runs contra to the earlier works of Locke and Descartes whose relative theories
assumed a dualist stance concerning metaphysics. The philosophic relevance of
subjective idealism is conveyed by Borges in Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, when he
cites David Hume who held that

Essay On World Peace

  • 1. Essay On World Peace Crafting an essay on the subject of global harmony presents a unique set of challenges, often reflecting the complexity inherent in addressing such a vast and multifaceted concept. At its core, the pursuit of world peace demands a comprehensive understanding of diverse geopolitical dynamics, historical conflicts, cultural nuances, and socio-economic disparities. Articulating coherent arguments and solutions within the confines of an essay requires not only extensive research but also critical thinking skills to navigate the intricate web of interconnected issues. Moreover, the topic of world peace is inherently subjective, as perspectives on what constitutes peace and how to achieve it can vary widely depending on one's background, beliefs, and experiences. This necessitates a nuanced approach that acknowledges and reconciles divergent viewpoints while striving for a balanced and inclusive discourse. Furthermore, the sheer scope of the topic presents a formidable task in terms of organization and structure. Attempting to cover the myriad aspects of global peace within the confines of a single essay demands careful planning and prioritization to ensure coherence and relevance. Despite these challenges, delving into the complexities of world peace offers an opportunity for introspection and dialogue, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our global community and the collective responsibility we share in shaping a more peaceful world. In conclusion, while writing an essay on the theme of global harmony is undeniably daunting, it is also a rewarding endeavor that encourages critical thinking, empathy, and a commitment to positive change. • 3. Southwest Airlines And United Airlines Mission Statement Analysis Southwest Airlines and United Airlines have been direct competitors in the airline business for a number of years. As time has passed, we have seen Southwest take a more Servant Leadership minded approach, while United decided upon a more traditional style of Leadership. The left hemisphere The element of human linear reasoning and language is performed by the left hemisphere. This means that it is the part of the brain responsible for things as grammar and vocabulary (Kalat, 2009). With linear reasoning, this simply gives an added advantage of numerical computation to the persons with the left brain part being dominant (angelfire, 2011). This is because their reasoning is random and intuitive which makes them follow instance thoughts compared to the left brain dominant persons who have logical and rational thinking.Due to their spatial manipulations, such persons are good in analysing three dimensional forms and volumes. This means that in class, such persons prefer instructions that are visual and those with examples for them to view the form as a whole. Subjectivity is their form of thinking (Paradiso, Bears amp; Connors, 2007). • 5. Role Of Ghost In Hamlet Question 12 Shakespeare s introduction of a ghost in Hamlet serves various objectives in the play, to the characters as well as the audience. The ghost is a controversial character who challenges the audience s view of the plot, the motifs, as well as the flow of events in the story. The appearance of the ghost is associated with tragedy, usually where the humans entangle with the supernatural forces, but in this case, the ghost seems to conform to human capabilities and relies on other human beings to meet its objectives. The presentation of the ghost in the play, from its motives to its appearance highlight the human traits over the supernatural capabilities. The characteristics of the ghost suggest that it might be a construct of Hamlet, and his friends, in trying to make sense of the events leading to the death of his father, as well as a coping mechanism. The narrative gives Hamlet, a son who loved his father, justification as well as the reason to execute revenge against his uncle who took the father s life despite the deviation that exists in his character. Hamlet is considered as the calm and collected character, and engaging in violence is not part of his personality, and as such the conviction that Hamlet is mad. The ghost is Hamlet is presented as a vengeful character, Hamlet s father, the fallen king, murdered by his brother. These attributes of his character draw from the theme of revenge associated with the works of Shakespeare, and the audience is allowed the

  • 7. Why Were The Loyalists In The Early Twentieth Century The loyalists had a long tradition of mural painting, dating back to the early twentieth century in which they would paint murals to celebrate the Twelfth of July, a day which commemorates the Protestant victory over Catholics at the Battle of Boyne in 1690. Therefore, many of their murals reflect not only their ideals but make figurative stabs at the nationalist and Catholic communities. These types of murals remained mainly a holiday celebration until the 1980 s when nationalists, frustrated at their own inability to legally create similar murals decided to step up and begin doing so anyway, sparking rapid mural creation on both sides. The republican mural tradition got a slow start for several reasons. Not only did they lack the cultural celebratory reasons for creating them that the loyalists had, there were also economic factors at play. A simple... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, while the Red Hand of Ulster was originally used by both sides it came to symbolize the loyalists willingness to fight on, whatever the cost. The Red Hand of Ulster supposedly refers to a mythic contest between local chieftains in which the winner cut off his own hand in order to win the contest as well as to take control of disputed territory. For the loyalists, they used the symbol to show that they would sacrifice whatever was necessary to retain control of the territory they saw as rightfully theirs and to prevent rule by the republican Irish. Loyalists often also used the Union flag in their mural designs in an effort to link their cause with overall British causes, eliciting sympathy and support from other British people outside of Northern Ireland. Ultimately, loyalist murals tried to portray themselves as heroic guardians of a fragile, but ultimately just, political system under constant threat from the dangerous and violent terrorists of the republican

  • 9. High School Censorship Persuasive Speech Many college students today might say, Stick and stones may break my bones, but words really offend me, so you can t say that. These students would be wrong legally to prevent others from freely speaking their minds in public, but in a college classroom they would be awarded. Censoring is not only in college classrooms, but in high school classrooms as well. It impedes on a student s ability to develop and learn, hinders their ability to prepare for the modern day world. Although clichГ©, and very sadly so, it is very apparent that today there is almost nothing that can be said that offends nobody. Thick skins have been replaced with fragile minds, and college students do not even know the extent of the first amendment. However, these same students believe they have the right to interpret the amendment their own way, and some believe they have the right to become the judiciary system if the speech doesn t appeal to them. When determining an opinion on any argument, it is important to start with the facts. In a survey taken by John Villasenor, forty percent of college students surveyed believe that hate speech is not protected by the first amendment, and twenty percent believe violence used to stop hate speech is acceptable. All those students are wrong. Hate speech is protected by the first amendment, and using violence as justification for ending hate speech is not legal. While not everyone in society has to be a constitutional expert, college students today are tomorrow s future lawyers, judges, police officers, etc. They need to at least know the extent of the first amendment in the United States. Additionally, these students should know that since hate speech is protected, responding with violence is by no means the answer as they will be the only ones to find themselves in jail. These students must lower their fists, and pull out the textbooks and construct the picket signs, using vigorous debate and peaceful protests as their response to bigotry. The other problem is that judges don t sit outside or around college campuses and determine when someone s right to free speech is infringed. Therefore, when a significant portion of the students believe they have the right to silence or prevent the

Because of the way they work, viruses such as the human immunodeficiency virushas been looked into in terms of reprogramming, ending in a result that could possibly be an option to treat another catastrophic epidemic of humans, cancer. What are viruses? Viruses are small infectious agents that replicate inside the living cells of other organisms. Viruses particles are one hundred times smaller than a human cell. Viruses are not alive. They cannot grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the lytic cycle, the virus particle attaches itself to the host cell in a process called absorption. The virus particle then injects either its DNA or RNA into the host cell, in a process for entry. This invading DNA or RNA takes over the cell and recruits the hosts enzymes**.(add citation)** These enzymes now start making new virus particles, in a process called replication. The particles of the virus that were created by the cell could then come together to form new viruses. These now newly formed viruses can then kill the cell so they may break free through lysis and search for a new host cell, in a process called release. The lysogenic cycle is another form of viral reproduction that involves the fusion of the nucleic acid of a bacteriophage with that of a host. Their viral genome will integrate with host DNA and replicate along with it fairly harmlessly. This virus then remains dormant until the hosts conditions deteriorate, which is when prophages become active. At this point they initiate the reproductive cycle, resulting in lysis of the host cell. As the cycle allows the host cell to continue to survive and reproduce, the virus is reproduced in all of the cell s offspring (George 1996). How does HIV affect the body? Infection with HIV is particularly troublesome for the immune system because it infects and destroys immune system cells.(Bagby, 2015) Untreated, the disease progresses over a few years to AIDS,

The characters in the tales make the same mistakes that ordinary people would make, and they receive the same or even worse consequences. We are taught the rules of conduct of society and we learn to follow them in order to be socially normal. The second we are born or even before we are born we are determined a gender. The rest of our life and the way we are expected to act revolves around that gender. Our gender shapes who we are expected to be and shapes an image in our parents head of who they want us to be. Gender plays a key role throughout our life, it is defined as the psychological, social and cultural aspects of masculinity and femininity(butler sweet,c,2017). Masculinity and femininity have been standardized into their own stereotypes. For example, masculine is known as aggression, competitive, brave, etc. While feminine is known as sensitive, weak, nurturing, etc. Because of these traits and these stereotypes masculinity holds a higher power over femininity. Therefore, when the parents have the child and they find out what gender they are they automatically uphold them and raise them according to these standards. This begins to refer to gender socialization which is the process by which we learn the rules and conduct the behavior of masculinity and femininity (butler sweet,c,2017). In fact, the future Empress of India didn t have much of a childhood. She was allowed very little freedom in her early life, which caused her to ban her mother from court upon her coronation (Turner). Queen Victoria impacted history and the 19th Century in many ways, through culture, politics and morality. • 28. The Place And Time Of Origin Of Judaism The place and time of origin of Judaism was in the Middle East 1500 BC; this religion was formed over several centuries. Christianity was formed in Jerusalem approximately 33 AD. Traditionally, both Judaism and Christianity believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, for Jews the God of the Tanakh, for Christians the Godof the Old Testament, the creator of the universe. Judaismand major sects of Christianityreject the view that God is entirely immanent and within the world as a physical presence. Both religions reject the view that God is entirely transcendent, and thus separate from the world, as the pre Christian Greek Unknown God. Both religions reject atheism on one hand and polytheism on the other. Both religions agree that God shares both transcendent and immanent qualities. How these religions resolve this issue is where the religions differ. Christianity posits that God exists as a Trinity; in this view God exists as three distinct persons who share a single divine essence, or substance. In those three there is one, and in that one there are three; the one God is indivisible, while the three persons are distinct and unconfused, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. It teaches that God became especially immanent in physical form through the Incarnation of God the Son who was born as Jesus of Nazareth, who is believed to be at once fully God and fully human. There are denominations self describing as Christian who question one or more of these
  • 29. The Last September Essay h bowen Published in 1929 The Last September written by Elizabeth Bowen highlights the difficulties which faced the Irish Anglo genre. It was one of many novels published in the nineteenth and twentieth century, based on Big House life in Ireland. Bowen herself is critical of the Anglo Irish gentry as she believes that they are responsible for the downfall in the society. The denial of their predicament and also their refusal to except change had caused Bowen to be censorious of them. She expresses her points of symbolism, imagery and characterization using a variety of tactful techniques. In the analysis these factors and techniques will be discussed in greater detail. The author emphasizes the pressure that is now forcing Lois to marry and to produce an heir so the property can be passed on for more generations. Lois no longer sees Big House lifestyle as viable and therefore further adds to the confusion in which she is facing. Lois, as the only alternative heir, complains that she feels trapped in a cocoon and longs for some other kind of existence. (Genet., J, p149, 1991) The ante room in which Lois visits frequently serves no particular purpose and therefore symbolizes that indeed the room compares to Lois feelings within herself of feeling lost and lonely. In her life deprived as she saw it there was no occasion for courage, which like an unused muscle slackened and slept (Bowen., E, p33, 1998) Another point which suggests Lois is lost and confused is the fact that often spends time walking outside the boundaries of the house which symbolizes her need to escape from this faГ§ade, the so called birthright of her generation. Fantasizing how life would be with out having the responsibility of running the Danielstown House. Throughout the novel Bowen uses the unusual technique of personifying the Danielstown house. It is a presence that becomes frequent throughout the poem. (For in February, before those leaves had visibly budded, the death execution, rather of the three houses... He is able to be the important father figure she needs, while teaching her invaluable life lessons on the way. To Kill A Mockingbird is a fictional story written by Harper Lee, that uses esoteric diction and realistic dialogue to portray how parents shape their child s personality. In the book Lee uses diction to help develop the plot. Also she uses diction in a way that helps the reader understand what lesson Atticus is trying to teach. Scout, said Atticus, nigger lover is just one of those terms that don t mean anything like snot nose. It s hard to explain ignorant, trashy people use it when they think somebody s favoring Negroes over and above themselves. It s slipped into usage with some people like ourselves, when they want a common, ugly term to label somebody. You aren t really a nigger lover, then, are you? I certainly am. I do my best to love everybody... I m hard put, sometimes baby, it s never an insult to be called what somebody thinks is a bad name. It just shows you how poor that person is, it doesn t hurt you. (Lee 108). This epic instance of dialogue between Atticus and Scout is a perfect example of how Atticus teaches Scout in a mature way. Lastly, I will explain why the consequence of simple subjectivism creates a problem for the moral judgement theory. Ethical subjectivism is the theory that describes the nature of moral judgement; it is defined as our opinions based on our feeling and emotions. If we look back at this statement whether Homosexuality is immoral , there are many who would disapprove of this statement and many would approve. Matt Foreman does not believe that homosexuality is immoral. It may look that both Foreman and Falwell disagree but simple subjectivism says otherwise. The Three Main Factors Of The Determinants Of Job... 3.4 Determinants of job satisfaction Determinants of job satisfaction are various features of the job environment and which are considered the causes of job satisfaction. These features include characteristics of jobs and job tasks, as well as various aspects of the organization (Spector, 2000). According to Spector (1997), determinants of job satisfaction can be classified into two major categories; First, the job environment itself and factors associated with the job are important influences on job satisfaction. This includes how people are treated, the nature of job tasks, relations with other people in the workplace, and rewards. Second, there are individual factors that the person brings to the job. This includes both personality and prior experiences; both categories of the determinants often work together to influence employee job satisfaction. While Furnham (1992) and Ting (1996, 1997) noted that despite the variety of variables suggested as having a major, minor or moderating effects on job satisfaction, it is possible to divide these factors into three distinct groups (1) Job characteristics, these included five sub variables: supervisory position, skill utilization, satisfaction with pay, satisfaction with the tasks, and satisfaction with working conditions (2) Organizational characteristics, these included two sub... Experiencing someone important to oneself dying is something most human beings can connect to. The difference is how one perceives death and how one deals with it on an emotional level. There are countless examples of books with different, unique interpretations of deathbut this essay will focus on just two: Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both of these stories have main characters that must come to terms with death but the ways they go about it and the conclusions they come to are vastly different. Death is used as a literary device to show the benefits of letting go and acceptance of things that people can not change in both The Garden Party and Frankenstein by showing opposite ways one can handle death and the results of those choices. Death in The Garden Party evolves from being a horrible thing that happens to be a beautiful, peaceful conclusion of someone s life. This change in perception comes to the main character, Laura, as she matures from a child into an adult. As Laura changes throughout the story she goes from treating death as a tragedy to accepting it as a natural event in everyone s life. After she visits the woman whose husband died the narrator states What did garden parties and baskets and lace frocks matter to him? He was far from all those things (Mansfield 81). Even if limited to just a minute or two at the top of each hour, news act as a punctuation mark between programmes or time periods. According to Barnard (2000: 139), the news is often В„a measure of a station s credibility and a major factor in the buying and selling of media on an international scale .
