Everything Teams need a LEADER, our perspective is that this is THE chief part of the one
ordinarily alluded to as the Venture Manager . We should on the other hand, keep on alluding to
the primary task administration part as the Project Manager. Many organizations and sponsors set
their activities up to fizzle on the grounds that they don t completely perceive how imperative the
task administration part is, to effectively deal with an undertaking through its life cycle. It is still
basic that venture directors are delegated on low maintenance premise, the suspicion being they

Alexis De Tocqueville Democracy In America
3. Does equality isolate us? If so, how? Use Tocqueville to support your argument. Democracy In
America: Equality and its Inevitable Isolation 25243320 PS 112C 12 February 2018 In
Democracy in America, French diplomat Alexis De Tocqueville critically analyzes America s
pioneering democratic political system. Tocqueville argued that this unique and unprecedented
form of governing is a regime founded upon the idea of equality of conditions. In using this phrase,
Tocqueville not only refers to the idea of material equality for all American citizens, but also takes
a step further and claim that other differences, such as social or personal, shouldn t exist as well
under these said conditions. Essentially, Tocqueville thinks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Tocqueville elaborates that equality causes each man to seek his beliefs in himself, and this
phenomenon is called individualism. He considers individualism as a sentiment that disposes
each citizen to isolate himself from the mass of those like him and to withdraw to one side with
his family and his friends. With individualism rising from equality, people become selfish and
they feel as though they have no obligation to interfere with other people s lives, as they are too
concerned with their own. Privacy and anonymity comes into play because once everyone is
equal, people become less focused on comparing each other and more focused on themselves.
Tocqueville reiterates that as social equality spreads there are more and more people who
[become not] powerful enough to have much hold over others and individuals now share a mutual
sentiment to not impose, not interfere, and not care. Tocqueville declares that individualism...
dries up the source of public virtues... and attacks and destroys all the others and will finally be
absorbed in selfishness. This growing habit of selfishness and loss of selfless virtue deeply severs
people s connections from each other and further isolates

Haier Case Study
Haier Case Study
1. Discuss the primary reasons why Haier moves from a single and dominant business strategy to a
diversified strategy.
The single and dominant business strategy, which denote relatively low levels of diversification,
more fully diversified firms are classified into related and unrelated categories. A firm is related
through its diversification when there are several links between its business units; for example,
units may share products or services, technologies, or distribution channels. The more links among
businesses, the more constrained is the relatedness of diversification. Unrelateness refers to the
absence of direct links between businesses.

5) Another example of creating value by using a related diversification strategy was when Haier
applied innovation to product design and production from the Liebherr Corporation of Germany.
This strategic move created value by not only competing and expanding its product categories, but
also by creating market needs. (pg. 7) The activity sharing and market need helped create product
breakthroughs like washing machines that operated without detergent or water, and refrigerators
that needed no compressors. (pg. 8) Another example of creating value was when Haier entered a
strategic business alliance with Sanyo. Sanyo wanted to increase its competiveness in China taking
advantage of Haier s extensive distribution network, whereas Haier hoped to enter the Jampanese
market by utilizing Sanyo s distribution and service centres s. (pg. 12) In the end Zhang Ruimin
utilized this diversification strategy in an attempt to gain market power. B.Also discuss how Haier
can use unrelated diversification strategy to create value.
Zhang Ruimin recognized that pursuing strictly a related diversification strategy might make
Haier susceptible to failure. He states, This is a globalised era..., no single industry can survive.
(pg. 13) By the end of 2006, Haier s product portfolio had extended to include products ranging
from washing machines to mobile phones as well as pharmaceuticals and tourism. This wide range

Comparing The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Although, Canada offers comparable qualities and values with other countries, The Charter of
Rights and Freedoms really separates Canada from other social liberties enactments. The Charter of
Rights and Freedoms upholds the diversity of differing qualities of Canadian culture and assures
the freedom of individuals that lengthens boundaries apparent to the constitutionalized law. Thusly,
contrasted with different nations, Canadas judiciary performs a huge part in deciphering the law.
Considering the Charter of Rights and Freedoms which consists of basic human rights, it is evident
that Canada has many significant laws that acknowledge and protect the rights and freedoms
including the liberty and equality of citizens. In my opinion, the most important law that Canada
has is Fundamental Freedoms. According to The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Fundamental
Freedoms, are a group of laws... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of

be brief, The Charter of Rights and Freedoms permits protection to freedoms within individuals
of Canada. Everyone in Canada has a right to practice any belief or religion as they would like
to. We have freedom of speech, to assemble peacefully into groups and to associate with
whomever we desire, as long as we do not violate the law and rights of others. The liberation of the
media to print and broadcast news is also permitted under the Charter.
The reason as to why I believe this is most important law in Canada is due to the fact it allows
individuals to live their lives as one would prefer to practice it. For instance, primarily the main

Therefore, when price falls the amount purchased increases. When price falls, the consumer s

Hypothesis and Research Question Essay example
Research questions are formulated in a study to inquire about variables, both independent and
dependent variables, and the relationship between them. Research questions are categorized into
two, that is, qualitative and quantitative research questions. Qualitative questions are used in
qualitative research like case studies, surveys and action researchwhere the approach is non
numerical and analyses special phenomena that occur in nature. Quantitative research on the other
hand is more of a systematic approach with measurable numerical quantities that go through
analysis to prove a hypothesis. Finally, the research hypothesis is either approved or disapproved

It must be logical, and provide a concrete base for any differences between the variables. It must
also be simple and clear.
A hypothesis can state the following: there exists a positive relationship between employee
performance and flexible working hours. Whereas a research question could generally be: do
flexible working hours affect workers productivity? You can clearly see that the hypothesis states
clearly and it is more specific in its prediction unlike the research question (eNotes.com, Inc 2011).
Hypothesis is typically used in quantitative research only. Moreover, when a question poses an
inquiry on the relationship between two variables, a hypothesis is a statement declarative in nature
of the relationship between different variables (Pajares 2007). A researcher chooses whether to use
a question or a hypothesis depending on the purpose of the research, its objectives, the methodology
for the research and the preference of the audience to receive the research. A researcher must be
able to interpret the final outcome with reference to the research questions or the hypothesis used
(Pajares 2007). A research requires a minimum of two hypotheses namely a null and an alternative
hypothesis.
So, somebody can make a certain observation and come up with a hypothesis about how and why a
phenomenon occurs the way it is. Hypothesis could be

John Patrick Shanley s Doubt
Douglas Light said that our imagination is better than any answer to a question. Light
distinguished between two genres: fantasy from fiction. He described how fantasy stimulates one
s imagination, which is more appealing, but fiction can just be a relatable story. In the same way,
Books and movies are very different entities. In the short parable Doubt, the readers are lured in to
the possibility of a scandalous relationship between a pastor and an alter boy. The readers curiosity
is ignited because they are not given all the details. Therefore, their mind wanders further than the
plot to create a story and characters that acted on one s imagination; thus, the story became
entertaining flooded by the questions of what? Who? How? By... Show more content on

In fact, all the details within the play stimulated one s imagination to create something that was
never stated in writing. In no part of the play does it outright say that Father Flynn had any
encounter with the alter boys other than during basketball practice and his apparent close friendship
with Donald Muller. Yet, through the readers imagination, they assume scandalous scenarios
between the Donald Muller and Father Flynn while still curious about what the truth is. The viewer
was in constant doubt, of both characters intentions and motives. The parable is filled with indirect
notions, assumptions, and gossiping. So why is this specific parable so entertaining? Its simple the
reader used their imagination to piece together a relationship that at multiple times in the play cause
them to doubt their own beliefs and consider the opposing possibilities. The play let you feel
everything, know everything and live vicariously through the characters. With the play, you can
Sister Aloysius, Father Flynn, or even Donald Muller; however, with the movie you are merely an
observer.
Books allow you to make up parts of the story(visuals and what people are like) while movies are
more direct telling you what to see.

Cremation versus Burial Essay example
Cremation vs. Burial
Today the society is looking for ways to ease life and to find solutions for problems which oppress
our lives and make it hard to live through. Because of many reasons, the traditional burials in this
century are becoming a problem. (Prothero,2001). The fact that they cover a lot of land to build
cemeteries and other things that are attached to these traditional burials is enough for us to search
for a practical solution. About a century ago the term cremation was unknown to many people. It is
believed that it began to be practiced during the early Stone Age and still exists today. Since that
time cremations have been made all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of people are paying for insurance by which a great part of the payment goes for covering
the expenses for their funerals all together with goods and services connected with it. Moreover,
these costs are very high not only in the Balkans, but in every country where there is not a
crematorium built. (D.J, 2014). The average cost of funeral services, today costs considerably
more than 1000 $ here in the Balkans while in the US, UK , Japan, Canada and many other
countries the price can reach up to 6,500 $. On the other hand the average costs of cremation
including a basic memorial service costs from 1600 $ to 3000 $ but the prices vary which
means that they can be lowered to 800 or 600 $ since you can choose the quality material of the
casket and the services provided along with it. Nonetheless, basic cremation is very simple, much
less expensive and you don`t have to add the cost of hearse, embalming, paper work, casket and
grave purchase. With cremation, you only have to pay for the service, casket the urn and everything
is resolved.
When burying a dead body into the ground there are several processes of decomposition going on
that leave out foul odor deep into the ground that can cause diseases spread and completely
contaminate the whole area depending on the scope that the cemeteries cover. The effects of these

Case Study Analysis Paper 1: A Tale of Two Coaches
Based on our learning from week one of our class, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the
leadership perspectives manifested in both Bobby Knight and Mike Krzyzewski, coaches who have
made significant marks in their field in college basketball. I hope to be able to identify the power
bases both coaches rely upon, as well as whether their actions are more aligned with either a
managerial role or leadership role. In addition, I hope to identify how significant the leadership
traits have influenced their leadership, based on the five factor ... Show more content on

Coach K clearly shows all the traits of agreeableness, which is the extent to which a person is
generous, kind, appreciative, sympathetic, forgiving, and trusting. Also both coaches can be said
to be conscientiousness, as they are efficient, organized, reliable, responsible, and thorough in
their pursuit of excellence. Coach Knight clearly displays neuroticism and his unstable, self
pitying, touchy, anxious, tense, and worrisome attitude comes clearly through as displayed
through rants and berating of his players. I can also agree that both coaches are open to
experience, as their coaching skills although one hundred and eighty degrees apart, do show signs
of introspective, imaginative, insightful, and originality, and both have a wide range of interests
outside of basketball. In conclusion, Although Coach K was originally mentored by Coach
Knight as both a player and as an assistant coach; they both have adopted different styles of
leadership. They appear to be almost polar opposites, yet have both managed to have done well in
their respective field. As the late Emanuel Rohn once said, The challenge of leadership is to be
strong but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully; be humble, but not timid; be
proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly . If only Coach Knight had followed this
simple statement, how much further would he have gone?

The Impact Of Technology On The Field Of Defence
The evolution of technology has made the life easier .However, the complete result can be
achieved only when technology is made the best use of it.Technology is not only used in the IT
industries but, it has become the part and parcel of everybody s life. In 21st century, this can be
realized through the way we are using technology. We have mobile applications which is almost
able to do everything that we ask for. We can pay our bills online, book a flight ticket, take online
classes anywhere in the world, talk to friends and family from long distances etc.
So then, how can we make use of this vast technology in the field of defence? Every nation in the
world depends on the sophisticated defence equipments for their own protective measures. The
history of collaboration of technology in defence is not too new. Nations like USA, UK, CHINA,
ISRALE and INDIA have been successful to develop some of the useful equipments using
technology .However, it is pleasing to see that, no nation has been using it for the destructive
purposes until and unless they have been forced to do so. This paper focuses on bringing the
examples of such modern equipments which are built using some of the great technologies.
Innovations of Tech in militaries and their scope

Jeff:Good question. You have to think about how we buy and upgrade. Sometimes we buy a

Anna:If you buy it as one unit, do you get all the detailed component information and enter it to the

Jeff:No, because if we bought it as a unit we let the vendor service it as a unit under warranty. In
those cases a complete system would be a single component. But then later we upgrade a hard

There is no file data caching because most applications now process large files which are simply
too big to be cached. Their architecture is based on a single master to simplify the design. The
system makes three copies of the data by default for recovery. They specify the chunk size to be
64 MB which is very large comparing to chunk size in other files systems because it first reduces
the interaction between clients and master, reduces the network overhead if it uses persistence
TCP connections, and decreases the size of metadata stored in the master however it could bring
overhead if the data size is small when many clients are accessing the same file, but GFS is
designed to majorly address large files. There are three types of metadata that are kept in the
master. They are the file and chunk namespace, mappings from files to chunks, and the locations
of each chunk s replicas. The first two types are stored in the operational log which is stored in
the master s memory. However it doesn t store the third type persistently, it asks each chunk for
its location when the master is being started. GFS uses a consistency model. The files are
consistent if all clients see the same data regardless of which copy they are reading from. The
content of metadata is mutated. In their data flow, they separate between the flow of control and
flow of data. The data is passed linearly to utilize the network bandwidth. The data is forwarded to

governmental aid. In 2011 2012, only 15% of farmworkers received food stamps, 16% received

numerous farmworkers are not eligible for unemployment benefits even though they perform jobs
that are seasonal and intermittent.
Migrant or seasonal farm workers are U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, illegal immigrants or
seasonal laborers on special guest worker visas (H 2A workers). Migrant workers mean that they
have traveled at least 75 miles during a 12 month period to obtain a farm job. Seasonal workers

Both poems share a great amount of similarities like the way they address the importance of family
and heritage and the message of both poems. They address the importance of familyand heritage by
using objects or feelings, metaphorically, to express their family or heritage. Not only that, but both
poems share the message that a person s paststays with them no matter where or how far they go.
Ultimately, both poems address the importance of family and heritage the same way and also share
the same message.

To start, Lorna Dee Cervantes talks about her family and heritage using a freeway as the main
idea. She talks about how a freeway now covers a spot where little houses used to exist near the
gray cannery (Cervantes, 1). Here under this freeway, the author remembers her childhood that
now has been covered, but she remembers that when she used to live in this area, she wanted to
leave. She wanted to find a place that was different from where she lived, but a part of her wants
to relive her childhood. The author states, Maybe it s here en los camps extraГ±os de esta
ciudad where I ll find it, that part of me mown under like a corpse or a loose seed (Cervantes, 20
25). The author wants to remember all the good times she had during her childhood home. She
remembers how important her family was to her. On the other hand, Hunger in New York City,
uses hunger as a way to show the importance of family and heritage. Simon Ortiz talks that hunger
can come from anywhere or from anything. In this case, he uses hunger in place of his parents.
After moving to New York City, the author

Moliere s Tartuffe By William Moliere
The Enlightenment ushered in the idea that reason should be exercised in thinking instead of
passion. Moliere s Tartuffe was written to challenge the dominant political and religious views of its
time. The Catholic church viewed Moliere s Tartuffe as a threat to their faith and banned the play
from being performed in public. Moliere became one of the great Enlightenment thinkers because of
his willingness to speak out against the large corrupt institutions that many people did not have the
courage to question.
Marcel Gutwirth states, Who is Tartuffe? Who is the wretch come barefoot into the home of a man
of some wealth and note who, in the teeth of almost universal detestation, establishes a grip upon
that household so tenacious that the intervention of the sovereign is needed to shake him loose
and send him packing? The play, as had been remarked, refuses to make up its mind. The
rubicund glutton of the second act or the sinister jail bird of the fifth, the religious hypocrite or the
professional confidence man, the professed nobleman the provinces or the penniless impostor
make for a range that takes in some mutually exclusive possibilities. Two things stand out: he does
lay claim to a very special relation to heaven; and, though far less overtly, sex exercises an equally
strong claim on his person. A third fact, which we shall take up first, is his successful occupation of
that well nigh impregnable fastness, the interior of an affluent French household the

Reflexology Research Paper
Reflexology
Reflexology is an alternative treatment that rests on the applying pressure of specific areas on the
feet, hands and ears. All these pressure points are believed to correlate with internal body functions
and organs. Applying pressure on these pressure points encourages proper energy flow throughout
the body and facilitates self healing.
It was originally developed by the ancient Egyptians hundreds of years ago. Dr. William Fitzgerald,
an American physician laid the first stone of this alternative therapy in the early years of the last
century. According to him there were different zones on the foot that managed different body
zones. Hence, it was also known as zone therapy. Afterward Dr. Joe Shelby Riley included more

Examples Of Betrayal In The Great Gatsby
Betrayal is a human condition that comes from breaking trust. The act of betraying one s self
can be commonly seen in people. A character in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Jay, betrays
himself and wasted his life away on trying to impress a girl. Jay essentially did everything in his
life, like becoming a bootlegger, all so that Daisy would notice him. Jay s life was devoted to
chasing around love and a dream instead of doing something productive and betrayed himself in
that way. Furthermore, being betrayed by a friend is something no one wants to go through. Hamlet
is betrayed by his two friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, in Hamlet by William Shakespeare.

The Characteristics Of Kamo No Chomei s Life
The Kamakura period was a balance between disaster and natural elegance. Kamo no Chomei s
coming of age included religious routines that created a path for himself that he followed whether
or not he liked. Being born into a family where serving higher authorities is mandatory, the quest to
have higher status in the world is expected. In Kamo no ChЕЌmeis shoes he lacks social skill to
advance himself. This could then b pictured as growing the characteristics of Humility and
Arrogance. For Example, his father died young while Chomei was still in his teens, leaving him
without the means for social advancement. (Chomei 623) Much like today after coming of age

office where all the best writings across the state are collected. This is the beginning of Chomei s
true character of reserve to himself and make his status better. But since being denied a higher
position in the shrine, Chomei reclusiveness heightened. When Chomei moves to pure land he has
been humbled by his experiences and his enjoyment and fulfillment of what nature can give him
and his writings, while at the same time he sees people s greed for these same virtues. People are
always looking for the new and better, never satisfied with the stuff they have today. For instance,

presume that dividing the world economy in a similar manner would be beneficial.2 Moreover,
larger markets foster competition as firms face additional rivals. Without their previous protections,
producers must innovate their way to succeeding in the market.3 Globalization can only advance
the world economy by improving efficiency and driving innovation, while self sufficiency and
isolation only create limits to economic growth. Globalization created many benefits to the world

Accurate Timekeeping At Sea
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries clock making was a vital European technology, and
London was at its cutting edge. As a maritime nation, the British were concerned with one
problem in particular: they could make clocks that kept very good time as long as they stayed
perfectly still but not when they were shaken about, and particularly not on board a rolling ship.
If you wanted to sail, it was impossible to keep a precise record of time. And at sea, if you can t
tell the time, you don t how far east or west you are. It is relatively easy to calculate latitude your
distance north or south of the equator by measuring the height of the Sun above the horizon at
noon; but this won t let you calculate longitude your position east or west.
The problem of accurate timekeeping at sea was finally fixed in the middle of the eighteenth
century by John Harrison. He invented a marine chronometer which could go on accurately telling
the time in spite of the changes in temperature and humidity and the constant movement of a ship.
This made it possible for ships anywhere to establish their longitude. Before a ship set sail, its
chronometer would be set to the local time in harbor for the British this was usually Greenwich.
You would then compare the time at Greenwich with the time of noon on the ship, which you fixed
by the Sun. The difference between the two times gave you your longitude. For the twenty four
hours in the day, every hour the Sun moves across the sky that

tied to three specific characters. William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar presents the timeless theme
of betrayal can ultimately lead to absurdity. First, the first betrayal towards Caesar triggers the
chaos among the men in Julius Caesar. Next, Mark Antony s betrayal towards the Senate boosts
the illogicality up to a whole new level. Lastly, the betrayal within the main characters conclusively

First, once Cassius kills himself, the men begin to grieve. When Cassius commits suicide, which
is his betrayal to himself, the men begin to settle their tomfoolery. Due to the men s betrayal to
one another during their war, this leads to a misunderstanding, which ultimately led to Cassius
death. Second, once Portia commits suicide, this eases Brutus motivation for betrayal because of
his wife s death. Even if Brutus brushes off her death, it really was one of the assets that drove
him off the deep end. Portia s death goes hand in hand with Brutus which ultimately ended the
men acting so absurd. Lastly, due to Brutus suicide, this ends all the absurdity amongst the men.
Once Brutus runs on his sword this sets the final peace, mainly because there is no one else to
betray. This example clearly states how betrayal leads to complete chaos, once there is no one else
to betray there s finally peace. In conclusion, the betrayal that had happened amongst the men and
Romans (suicide) in the play was what conclusively ended most of the chaos. With self betrayal
being represented with suicide, after a good amount of characters commit suicide, there isn t anyone

How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism?
Q. How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism?
A. Romantic poetry was an artistic movement of the late 18th and early
19th century. It dealt with nature, human imagination, childhood and the ability to recall emotional
memories of both happiness and sadness. Before Wordsworth began writing his revolutionary new
style of poetry, all preceding poetry had a very different style.
The reason these poems were classed as revolutionary was because he believed that romantic poetry
should describe incidents of common life and ordinary people and were written in deliberately

This shows how happy she is at seeing her cottage, in the countryside that she loves.
However, this soon fades. The images go away and she is sad once again as she goes back to her
unhappy life in the city where she feels trapped. This fits into Romanticism by including most of the
main features. It deals with human feelings and how Susan is sad. It includes memories and the use
of imagination. It also shows probably the most important feature, which is a love of nature. We see
that Susan feels truly happy surrounded by hills and pastures.
We also see this in Wordsworth s most famous and well known poem
Daffodils . Wordsworth thought of his poetry as originating in
emotion recollected in tranquillity . His memories were memories of strong feelings of happiness
brought about by something or some landscape connected to the nature.
In Daffodils , we again see all the features that make this poem fit into the tradition of Romanticism
and Romantic Poetry.
Wordsworth describes nature and says how beautiful it is and the beauty he sees when he looks at

Essay On Psychology Of Tanning
Psychology of Tanning Although there is sufficient evidence that associates excessive UV exposure
with increased risk of melanoma, indoor tanning proceeds to be a widespread public health issue. In
fact, one of the most common myths that tanning bed users tend to believe to be true is that indoor
tanning is actually much safer than outdoor exposure to UV rays (Le Clair Cockburn, 2001).
Despite having pertinent knowledge of the dangers that come with harsh exposure to UV light,
many psychological motivators keep avid tanning bed enthusiasts preoccupied with the risky hobby.
Genuine enjoyment, reported mood enhancement , and cosmetic improvement were deemed the
most popular reasons for people to continue using tanning beds even after being educated on the
hazardous effects that come with such behavior. According to one study, most adolescents even

By 1929 it had risen up to 1.3 gallons per capita. Before prohibition, men stopped by bars to get a
quick beer after work. But when alcohol was illegal it was too much of a hassle to find a
speakeasy, give a password for entrance, and pay for an expensive beer. To avoid all of this
trouble, people would drink an excess amount of alcohol. Hard liquor became more common
because it was more concentrated and cheaper to smuggle. More concentrated liquor was also more
effective. So, when people went to speakeasies, they went to get drunk. Cigarette consumption also
increased during Prohibition. Although the 18th Amendment did not ban cigarettes, many states
did. This ban seemed to make them even more desirable. In 1930, cigarettes finally became legal
everywhere and consumption almost

Do Animals Possess Consciousness Research Paper
Do animals possess consciousness? Are animals programmed to be slaves to nature or do they
possess consciousness: the ability to be aware of one s surroundings? While we don t know
what animals think or say, we can speculate on their brain activity and behavior in nature. As
Darwin has said, We differ from our closest relatives in degree, not kind. We may not be as
different from the animal kingdom as we have thought. Alex, an African grey parrot, was subject
to a scientific study for thirty years. Scientists criticized this experiment, since Alex had a
birdbrain, which was the size of a walnut. The popular test subjects were chimpanzees, whom were
thought to be more intelligent. However, Alex surely proved the scientists wrong; he had
knowledge of around one hundred English words, and skills to distinguish colors and sizes. Not

For example, dolphins have talent in echolocation: the reflection of sounds to locate things. They
also have the potential to imitate their instructors. While it may seem like a simple skill, imitation
requires the dolphins to retain a mental image of their instructor, and then copy the movements with
their own bodies. Two dolphins, Akeakamai and Phoenix, without training improvised a trick of
circling underwater to spinning clockwise in the air in perfect synch. Dolphins are clever mammals
and are heavily implied to have consciousness. As Herman states, There are many things they could
do that people have always doubted about animals. For example, they correctly interpreted, on the
very first occasion, gestured instructions given by a person displayed on TV. Another underwater
creature that shows signs of consciousness is the octopus. They can block their dens with rocks as
well as entertain themselves by shooting water at targets. Roland Anderson comments, They may

2.Understanding Loan Tranches and Mechanics (Credit Agreement)
3.Tranches of Loans
A borrower will generally have various financing needs for its business, some of which may be
more appropriately met with a revolving credit facility and others more appropriately met with a
term loan facility. Revolving credit facilities permit the borrower to borrow, repay and reborrow
loans from time to time during the life of the credit facility, up to an agreed cap amount, so long
as the conditions to each borrowing are met. Term loan facilities are generally drawn all at once
and may not be reborrowed once repaid. For a borrower s ongoing business operations, a
revolving facility that allows it to borrow and repay as needed may make more sense than
receiving a one time term loan, while a borrower may want a term loan to fund an acquisition
where they will need to have the full purchase price available on the acquisition date.
In many financing transactions the borrower will want access to both a revolving facility and a
term loan. For example, to finance an acquisition, the borrower will likely want a term loan to
finance all, or a portion of, the purchase price for the target company and after the acquisition, the
borrower will likely need a revolving facility for working capital. To meet these needs, credit
agreements and facilities are often divided into multiple tranches each

Police Job Fair Essay
Introduction: (option 7)
As students, we sometime get burnt out during mid semester, due dates are forgotten, test are not
studied for and ultimately grade begin to decline. It is not because we are lazy or potentially
trying to fail ourselves, but because we sometime begin to lose interest. Therefore, once in a while
it is nice to refresh our interest with things such as guest speakers or events. On November 15th I
had the opportunity to attend the Gwinnett County Police job fair. Going into the fair I had
different expectations of how it would be and I left feeling very excited about possibly working
for an agency such as Gwinnett. What I expected:
Prior to this year, while it is possible, I have grasped that not all aspiring police officers can work
for a federal agency right out of college. Therefore, instead of making a federal option my plan
(A), I have made it by plan (B), hoping to work local first then transfer to federal if I choose. In
addition, I used to believe the local police only did patrol work. I was not aware that police also
have many other interesting tasks. After attending the Gwinnett County Police job fair, I can...

##bols And Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding
Symbols and symbolism are important to have in a story because it helps readers to focus on the
deeper meanings and themes under the main story. Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is a
novel that contains myriad symbolism. The novel is about a group of young boys who get
stranded on an island with no adults, and the boys need to collaborate to survive; however, as
time goes on, the collaborative efforts crumble and the boys begin to reveal their inner savage
nature. To show the progression of savagery in the boys, Golding uses several symbols the conch,
the mask, and the beast but none of these symbols are as important as the fire. The fire is the most
important symbolbecause it emphasizes the importance of hope and rescue on the island, and
how it can prevail even through the bos savage nature. On an island with no hope and seemingly
no escape, the fire provides and symbolizes hope and rescue to escape the island. When Ralph is
rallying the boys in the assembly, his main priority to the boys is that [they] must make smoke
on the top of the mountain, [they] must make a fire (38). At this point in the story, Ralph has
already been established as the leader, so his priority is very powerful to the boys on the island,
to which they run to the mountain and attempt to create the signal fire. This quote is also
important because it establishes the symbol of fire to be a beacon of hope and rescue for the
boys, which is essential if they want to escape the island alive.

Probability Of Marfan Syndrome
Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder of the connecting tissue due to mutation in the fibrillin 1
gene which is located on the chromosome 15.
As the connective tissues is made up of protein called fibrillin 1 and mutation in this this protein
causes increase in a transforming growth factor beta protein, or TGF ОІ which is responsible for
developing the problems with connective tissue around the body
Marfan syndrome can be the reason for problems in many different parts around the body as the
connective tissue is found everywhere in the human organism.
The signs of the disorder are often diagnosed in the heart (life threatening aortic enlargement of the
main blood vessel), blood vessels, joints, root abnormalities, jaws and eyes. Nervous system, skin
and organs such as lungs can also be affected by the disease. Mental abilities and intelligence
remain not to be affected by Marfan syndrome. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Are The Ideologies Associated With Societal Views Of...

Environmental Values
Today, there are three main ideologies associated with societal views of the environment and how
one should effectively approach natural resource conservation. There is anthropocentrism which
places human needs and utility as the highest priority and values the environment only to the
point at which it is useful to humans. In the words of Aristotle (Politics, Bk. 1, Ch. 8), nature has
made all things specifically for the sake of man (Brennan, 2002). This ideology focuses on use
value of resources, seeing them as tools to increase the wellbeing of society (Mazzotta, 1995). This
use value can and has been put into specific dollar amounts that are ... Show more content on

The acknowledgement of the necessity to preserve all life as well as the promotion of biodiversity
and stability of ecosystems is really what sets this ideology apart from the others (Mazzotta, 1995).
Lastly there is technocentrism in which the basis of this is the belief and reliance on modern
society to solve environmental issues through innovation as well as economic strategy and natural
resource management. It is believed that through technological advances, humankind may
overcome any environmental obstacles that may arise (Pepper, 1996). This ideology holds that
humankind can control nature through technology as well as create more sustainable processes
when interacting with the environment (Sustainable Environment). From the experiences I have
had over the years, respect and understanding of something or someone else seems to be the only
way to really care about the outcome of the subject in question. Saying this, the fact that
ecocentrism focuses on connections between humans and nature,I believe this ideology is most
important when it comes to dealing with environmental issues. By grouping humans and
nonhumans together and not allowing the interests of society to gain a higher moral ground than
environmental interests, ecocentrism promotes sustainable interactions throughout nature. This
ideology does not claim that human beings are of equal or

Catholic Church Visit
This weekend, I went down to Boulder to visit my brother and his girlfriend. While I was in
Boulder, I was able to go to a Roman Catholic church called the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic
Center. This was a special visit, because it was on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, our
sister school! It was sort of like a small town, most of the buildings were separated by the trees.
Naturally, the denominational affiliation is Roman Catholicism, from which they uphold beliefs
and values of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church is overseen and led by the
bishop of Rome and the pope. The congregation was fairly large and by the beginning of the
service, every seat was filled. Like my past Site Visit, instead of just individual chairs, there were

Before walking to the altar, the priest in the green bowed slightly and then walked behind the
altar where the priest in the white had placed down the bible and they both bowed in front of it.
After that, they say a type of prayer it seemed, that the whole congregation confesses to sinning
and they ask for forgiveness. Afterwards, the choir sang a few more songs and then the priest
prayed. After that, the priest then goes on to read some scriptures from the bible and sometime
near the end of the service, everyone says the Lord s Prayer , and afterwards, there was some
announcements and then, everyone was dismissed. In regards to significant religious symbols,
behind the altar was a small black cross with a small jesus nailed to the front of it. In addition,
there was an image of the Virgin Mary holding Baby Jesus behind the altar. I went with my
brother s girlfriend, Briana, who was a student at CU Boulder. I didn t meet anyone after the
service unfortunately, mainly because, I didn t feel very welcome. The mass was an open service,
but, I felt very much like an outsider. No one was rude to me at all, but then again, no one was

Moral Responsibility and Harry Frankfurt
The incompatibilists argue that one is morally responsible for what she has done given that she
could have done otherwise. Further, they think that if determinism is true then one could not have
done otherwise, so if determinism is true, one is not morally responsible for things she has done. In
debates surrounding the issue of free will, philosophers have focused on discussing whether
determinism is true or false. Harry Frankfurt thinks even though the requirement of alternative
possibilities in order to be held morally responsible for our actions seems intuitively plausible, it
is a questionable premise in the argument provided by incompatibilists. Frankfurt calls the
premise that a person is morally responsible for what he has done only if he could have done
otherwise the principle of alternative possibilities or PAP (Frankfurt, 829). He argues that PAP is
false and a person can be held morally responsible even if she could not have done otherwise.
Frankfurt presents counterexamples to PAP to prove its falsity. He tells us to assume that there is
a universal controller that wants to ensure certain outcomes. The controller makes it impossible for
an agent to act otherwise, which causes her to act exactly as the controller wishes. Frankfurt argues
that in such a case it is true that agent is not responsible for her action and that she could not have
done otherwise, but he thinks that the agent s lack of responsibility does not follow from her
inability to do otherwise.

Audience Response to Macbeth
The human condition has been explored throughout time and its study has primarily allowed us
to learn from our past and develop as people. The Elizabethan era is very different from the
world today as our values and beliefs have changed to suit our level of knowledge and intelligence.
These differences become clear when exploring an audience s response to William Shakespeare s
Macbeth, from the Elizabethan era and today. The text was written in 1606 and was set in
Scotland. The tragedy construes what egotistical ambition can do to the mind. Key themes of
loyalty and betrayal, the increase in intelligence of humans, the way laws govern society and the
balance in power between genders affect an audience s response to Macbeth. Specifically... Show

And most of us can understand why magic and witchcraft is a myth due to education and science
that can explain things like bad weather through Earth rotation, pressure, temperature, etcetera. So
responses from today s era towards the witches would be that of amusement through the language
used, Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog... As time passes, humans
evolve which allows a difference to appear from responses to the witches from the 16th century and
now.
Lady Macbeth s role of manipulating Macbeth and encouraging him to kill Duncan invites the
audience to make an assessment on her character as to whether they should feel empathy or
outcast her as a psychotic, control freak. Elizabethan people lacked understanding of the meaning
of murder and couldn t comprehend that those guilty were not always the one who committed the
crime. An audience from today can generally accept that even though Macbeth killed Duncan and
the guards, Lady Macbeth is guilty too because she was an accessory. Elizabethan audience would
not be able to deduce this meaning their reaction wouldn t be as extreme. However, many
Elizabethan men responded slightly disgusted and shocked because of the way Lady Macbeth
dominated her husband. The text would draw this type of a reaction because it was considered a
part of culture, that women were considered a lesser

Admittedly, we fail to have a sensory impression of the soul thus the idea does not exist as
demonstrated by Hume s theory. However, our senses are not always reliable since our brain can
be tricked to see, feel, or hear something that is not there. For instance, in the television show
Brain Games, a show about perception and the brain reveals in several different sets of illusions
that the our senses are not always trustworthy. In the first episode Watch This , Brain Games in
particular messes with the human senses in various illusions studied by different scientists and
researchers. For example, the narrator at the beginning of the episode posses the question about

The Importance Of College Education
So our education really isn t priceless?
As college costs continue to rise, more and more students are discouraged from furthering their
education and reaching their capabilities to the fullest. In today s society, a college education is
essential for a good career. Based off a Edward Jones survey, 83% of Americans say they cannot
afford the expense of a college education. Growing up in public schools, college has always been
slipped into conversations. Especially in high school, our teachers are preparing us for college.
However, they are not preparing us for our future careers or how to obtain a household income,
just simply for us to attend college. We are taught about the importance of college, but never
warned about the cost of tuition and how to pay for it. In my own personal experience I was not
taught how to pay for college but to just go, just figure it out and go. On average, an in state
college is $10,000 a year. The average american familyhas an income of around $55,000, however,
the average family also spends around $60,000 a year on bills and necessary items. With this being
said, are our tuition rates reasonable?
With costs being so high, some students can t afford it and just don t go, while others burry
themselves with debt and student loans which can lead to stress and the pressure of dropping out.
The term student loans has been tossed around a lot in high school but no one explains the
downsides. In 2016 30% of Americans went to college. Of that 30%,

Role Of Political Parties In America
Jamaica, is a member of the British Commonwealth, and has a bicameral parliamentary
legislative system. The executive branch consists of the British monarch, the governor general,
the prime minister, the deputy prime minister, and the cabinet. The legislative branch is
comprised of the Senate, and the sixty member elected House of Representatives. The judicial
branch is defined by the supreme court and several layers of lower courts. The two major parties
are the People s National Party (PNP); which would be the democratic party in America, and the
Jamaica Labor Party (JLP), which would be the republican party. Then there are many unions that
govern the politicians. They include: trade unions, the Rastafarians, and civic organizations.
During election time, it becomes very hostile and dangerous between the different political parties
and unions. These parties and unions are represented by colors, and from the beginning of the
election period, until it is over there is widespread violence. A person who has no affiliation with
government in Jamaica could be killed for simply wearing the colors of a political party. Interview

Graves Disease
Graves disease is a precursor to hyperthyroidism. Named after the man who first discovered the
condition, Robert Graves, this disease shares many immunologic features with autoimmune
hypothyroidism (17). The most common symptoms that come with this disease are weight loss,
fatigue, nervousness, and irregular heartbeats. This particular condition can be affected by a
person s age. Statistics show that the severity of different symptoms can increase as a person
diagnosed with Graves disease grows older. This condition also makes people more susceptible to
other autoimmune diseases and women who are diagnosed with Graves disease should refrain from
becoming pregnant until their thyroid problems have been sufficiently treated.

This can occur when the body is unable to produce sufficient amounts of thyroid hormone. When
the gland is unable to produce enough thyroid hormone, the gland tends to grow to try to make
up for the lack of necessary hormone in the body. There are different types/degrees to goiters.
Two of the types of goiter are simple goiter and toxic nodular goiter. Simple goiter can develop
for no apparent reason. Women seem to be more susceptible to developing this form of goiter.
Other causes may also be lack of iodine intake. Many times, when there are large numbers of
people in a population who develop simple goiters, the reason could very well be that the natural
environment in which they reside may be lacking in iodine. A person s chances of developing this
condition may also increase when a person passes the age of

Transgender Discrimination Research Paper
Employer Discrimination Numerous studies have shown that transgender people face
disproportionate amounts of discrimination in all areas of life, especially in employment. As the
American economy worsens, the discrimination faced by transgender people is becoming even
more acute. Often forced into already unstable jobs and careers, and often facing compounding
bias because of race or age, the economic well being of transgenderpeople is being challenged
today like never before (National Center for Transgender Equality, 2011). The National
Transgender Discrimination Survey showed that ninety percent (90%) of those surveyed reported
experiencing harassment or mistreatment on the job or took actions to avoid it (Grant, M.,
Mottet, Tanis, Harrison, Herman, Keisling, 2011). Lombardi, Wilchins, Priesing Malouf (2001)
asserted that people who are open about being trans or request accommodations are more likely to
be harassed, intimidated, or fired. In addition, The National Transgender Discrimination Survey
indicates that forty seven percent (47%) of survey respondents said they had experienced an

  • 3. Alexis De Tocqueville Democracy In America 3. Does equality isolate us? If so, how? Use Tocqueville to support your argument. Democracy In America: Equality and its Inevitable Isolation 25243320 PS 112C 12 February 2018 In Democracy in America, French diplomat Alexis De Tocqueville critically analyzes America s pioneering democratic political system. Tocqueville argued that this unique and unprecedented form of governing is a regime founded upon the idea of equality of conditions. In using this phrase, Tocqueville not only refers to the idea of material equality for all American citizens, but also takes a step further and claim that other differences, such as social or personal, shouldn t exist as well under these said conditions. Essentially, Tocqueville thinks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tocqueville elaborates that equality causes each man to seek his beliefs in himself, and this phenomenon is called individualism. He considers individualism as a sentiment that disposes each citizen to isolate himself from the mass of those like him and to withdraw to one side with his family and his friends. With individualism rising from equality, people become selfish and they feel as though they have no obligation to interfere with other people s lives, as they are too concerned with their own. Privacy and anonymity comes into play because once everyone is equal, people become less focused on comparing each other and more focused on themselves. Tocqueville reiterates that as social equality spreads there are more and more people who [become not] powerful enough to have much hold over others and individuals now share a mutual sentiment to not impose, not interfere, and not care. Tocqueville declares that individualism... dries up the source of public virtues... and attacks and destroys all the others and will finally be absorbed in selfishness. This growing habit of selfishness and loss of selfless virtue deeply severs people s connections from each other and further isolates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Haier Case Study Haier Case Study 1. Discuss the primary reasons why Haier moves from a single and dominant business strategy to a diversified strategy. The single and dominant business strategy, which denote relatively low levels of diversification, more fully diversified firms are classified into related and unrelated categories. A firm is related through its diversification when there are several links between its business units; for example, units may share products or services, technologies, or distribution channels. The more links among businesses, the more constrained is the relatedness of diversification. Unrelateness refers to the absence of direct links between businesses. м°ёкі : http://wenku.baidu.com/view/6a080e260722192e4536f624 2. ... This strategic move created value by not only competing and expanding its product categories, but also by creating market needs. (pg. 7) The activity sharing and market need helped create product breakthroughs like washing machines that operated without detergent or water, and refrigerators that needed no compressors. (pg. 8) Another example of creating value was when Haier entered a strategic business alliance with Sanyo. Sanyo wanted to increase its competiveness in China taking advantage of Haier s extensive distribution network, whereas Haier hoped to enter the Jampanese market by utilizing Sanyo s distribution and service centres s. (pg. 12) In the end Zhang Ruimin utilized this diversification strategy in an attempt to gain market power. B.Also discuss how Haier can use unrelated diversification strategy to create value. Zhang Ruimin recognized that pursuing strictly a related diversification strategy might make Haier susceptible to failure. He states, This is a globalised era..., no single industry can survive. Comparing The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms Although, Canada offers comparable qualities and values with other countries, The Charter of Rights and Freedoms really separates Canada from other social liberties enactments. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms upholds the diversity of differing qualities of Canadian culture and assures the freedom of individuals that lengthens boundaries apparent to the constitutionalized law. Thusly, contrasted with different nations, Canadas judiciary performs a huge part in deciphering the law. Considering the Charter of Rights and Freedoms which consists of basic human rights, it is evident that Canada has many significant laws that acknowledge and protect the rights and freedoms including the liberty and equality of citizens. Hypothesis and Research Question Essay example Research questions are formulated in a study to inquire about variables, both independent and dependent variables, and the relationship between them. Research questions are categorized into two, that is, qualitative and quantitative research questions. Qualitative questions are used in qualitative research like case studies, surveys and action researchwhere the approach is non numerical and analyses special phenomena that occur in nature. You can clearly see that the hypothesis states clearly and it is more specific in its prediction unlike the research question (eNotes.com, Inc 2011). Hypothesis is typically used in quantitative research only. Moreover, when a question poses an inquiry on the relationship between two variables, a hypothesis is a statement declarative in nature of the relationship between different variables (Pajares 2007). A researcher chooses whether to use a question or a hypothesis depending on the purpose of the research, its objectives, the methodology for the research and the preference of the audience to receive the research. A researcher must be able to interpret the final outcome with reference to the research questions or the hypothesis used (Pajares 2007). He described how fantasy stimulates one s imagination, which is more appealing, but fiction can just be a relatable story. In the same way, Books and movies are very different entities. In the short parable Doubt, the readers are lured in to the possibility of a scandalous relationship between a pastor and an alter boy. Yet, through the readers imagination, they assume scandalous scenarios between the Donald Muller and Father Flynn while still curious about what the truth is. The viewer was in constant doubt, of both characters intentions and motives. The parable is filled with indirect notions, assumptions, and gossiping. So why is this specific parable so entertaining? Its simple the reader used their imagination to piece together a relationship that at multiple times in the play cause them to doubt their own beliefs and consider the opposing possibilities. Because of many reasons, the traditional burials in this century are becoming a problem. (Prothero,2001). The fact that they cover a lot of land to build cemeteries and other things that are attached to these traditional burials is enough for us to search for a practical solution. Moreover, these costs are very high not only in the Balkans, but in every country where there is not a crematorium built. (D.J, 2014). The average cost of funeral services, today costs considerably more than 1000 $ here in the Balkans while in the US, UK , Japan, Canada and many other countries the price can reach up to 6,500 $. On the other hand the average costs of cremation including a basic memorial service costs from 1600 $ to 3000 $ but the prices vary which means that they can be lowered to 800 or 600 $ since you can choose the quality material of the casket and the services provided along with it. Coach Knight clearly displays neuroticism and his unstable, self pitying, touchy, anxious, tense, and worrisome attitude comes clearly through as displayed through rants and berating of his players. I can also agree that both coaches are open to experience, as their coaching skills although one hundred and eighty degrees apart, do show signs of introspective, imaginative, insightful, and originality, and both have a wide range of interests outside of basketball. In conclusion, Although Coach K was originally mentored by Coach Knight as both a player and as an assistant coach; they both have adopted different styles of leadership. They appear to be almost polar opposites, yet have both managed to have done well in their respective field. As the late Emanuel Rohn once said, The challenge of leadership is to be strong but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly . There is no file data caching because most applications now process large files which are simply too big to be cached. Their architecture is based on a single master to simplify the design. The system makes three copies of the data by default for recovery. They specify the chunk size to be 64 MB which is very large comparing to chunk size in other files systems because it first reduces the interaction between clients and master, reduces the network overhead if it uses persistence TCP connections, and decreases the size of metadata stored in the master however it could bring overhead if the data size is small when many clients are accessing the same file, but GFS is designed to majorly address large files. There are three types of metadata that are kept in the master. They are the file and chunk namespace, mappings from files to chunks, and the locations of each chunk s replicas. The first two types are stored in the operational log which is stored in the master s memory. However it doesn t store the third type persistently, it asks each chunk for its location when the master is being started. GFS uses a consistency model. The files are consistent if all clients see the same data regardless of which copy they are reading from. The content of metadata is mutated. In their data flow, they separate between the flow of control and flow of data. The data is passed linearly to utilize the network bandwidth. The data is forwarded to the closest machine to ... • 21. Moliere s Tartuffe By William Moliere The Enlightenment ushered in the idea that reason should be exercised in thinking instead of passion. Moliere s Tartuffe was written to challenge the dominant political and religious views of its time. The Catholic church viewed Moliere s Tartuffe as a threat to their faith and banned the play from being performed in public. Moliere became one of the great Enlightenment thinkers because of his willingness to speak out against the large corrupt institutions that many people did not have the courage to question. Marcel Gutwirth states, Who is Tartuffe? Who is the wretch come barefoot into the home of a man of some wealth and note who, in the teeth of almost universal detestation, establishes a grip upon that household so tenacious that the intervention of the sovereign is needed to shake him loose and send him packing? The play, as had been remarked, refuses to make up its mind. The rubicund glutton of the second act or the sinister jail bird of the fifth, the religious hypocrite or the professional confidence man, the professed nobleman the provinces or the penniless impostor make for a range that takes in some mutually exclusive possibilities. As a maritime nation, the British were concerned with one problem in particular: they could make clocks that kept very good time as long as they stayed perfectly still but not when they were shaken about, and particularly not on board a rolling ship. If you wanted to sail, it was impossible to keep a precise record of time. And at sea, if you can t tell the time, you don t how far east or west you are. It is relatively easy to calculate latitude your distance north or south of the equator by measuring the height of the Sun above the horizon at noon; but this won t let you calculate longitude your position east or west. The problem of accurate timekeeping at sea was finally fixed in the middle of the eighteenth century by John Harrison. He invented a marine chronometer which could go on accurately telling the time in spite of the changes in temperature and humidity and the constant movement of a ship. This made it possible for ships anywhere to establish their longitude. Before a ship set sail, its chronometer would be set to the local time in harbor for the British this was usually Greenwich. You would then compare the time at Greenwich with the time of noon on the ship, which you fixed by the Sun. The difference between the two times gave you your longitude. William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar presents the timeless theme of betrayal can ultimately lead to absurdity. First, the first betrayal towards Caesar triggers the chaos among the men in Julius Caesar. Next, Mark Antony s betrayal towards the Senate boosts the illogicality up to a whole new level. Lastly, the betrayal within the main characters conclusively ends most of the chaos and the play. First, once Cassius kills himself, the men begin to grieve. When Cassius commits suicide, which is his betrayal to himself, the men begin to settle their tomfoolery. Due to the men s betrayal to one another during their war, this leads to a misunderstanding, which ultimately led to Cassius death. Second, once Portia commits suicide, this eases Brutus motivation for betrayal because of his wife s death. Even if Brutus brushes off her death, it really was one of the assets that drove him off the deep end. Portia s death goes hand in hand with Brutus which ultimately ended the men acting so absurd. Lastly, due to Brutus suicide, this ends all the absurdity amongst the men. Once Brutus runs on his sword this sets the final peace, mainly because there is no one else to betray. This example clearly states how betrayal leads to complete chaos, once there is no one else to betray there s finally peace. In conclusion, the betrayal that had happened amongst the men and Romans (suicide) in the play was what conclusively ended most of the chaos. How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism? A. Romantic poetry was an artistic movement of the late 18th and early 19th century. It dealt with nature, human imagination, childhood and the ability to recall emotional memories of both happiness and sadness. Before Wordsworth began writing his revolutionary new style of poetry, all preceding poetry had a very different style. The reason these poems were classed as revolutionary was because he believed that romantic poetry should describe incidents of common life and ordinary people and were written in deliberately plain words. It also shows probably the most important feature, which is a love of nature. We see that Susan feels truly happy surrounded by hills and pastures. We also see this in Wordsworth s most famous and well known poem Daffodils . Wordsworth thought of his poetry as originating in emotion recollected in tranquillity . His memories were memories of strong feelings of happiness brought about by something or some landscape connected to the nature. In Daffodils , we again see all the features that make this poem fit into the tradition of Romanticism and Romantic Poetry. Wordsworth describes nature and says how beautiful it is and the beauty he sees when he looks at the daffodils. when all at once I saw a crowd, a host of golden daffodils . In fact, one of the most common myths that tanning bed users tend to believe to be true is that indoor tanning is actually much safer than outdoor exposure to UV rays (Le Clair Cockburn, 2001). Despite having pertinent knowledge of the dangers that come with harsh exposure to UV light, many psychological motivators keep avid tanning bed enthusiasts preoccupied with the risky hobby. Genuine enjoyment, reported mood enhancement , and cosmetic improvement were deemed the most popular reasons for people to continue using tanning beds even after being educated on the hazardous effects that come with such behavior. But when alcohol was illegal it was too much of a hassle to find a speakeasy, give a password for entrance, and pay for an expensive beer. To avoid all of this trouble, people would drink an excess amount of alcohol. Hard liquor became more common because it was more concentrated and cheaper to smuggle. More concentrated liquor was also more effective. So, when people went to speakeasies, they went to get drunk. Cigarette consumption also increased during Prohibition. Revolving credit facilities permit the borrower to borrow, repay and reborrow loans from time to time during the life of the credit facility, up to an agreed cap amount, so long as the conditions to each borrowing are met. Term loan facilities are generally drawn all at once and may not be reborrowed once repaid. For a borrower s ongoing business operations, a revolving facility that allows it to borrow and repay as needed may make more sense than receiving a one time term loan, while a borrower may want a term loan to fund an acquisition where they will need to have the full purchase price available on the acquisition date. In many financing transactions the borrower will want access to both a revolving facility and a term loan. For example, to finance an acquisition, the borrower will likely want a term loan to finance all, or a portion of, the purchase price for the target company and after the acquisition, the borrower will likely need a revolving facility for working capital. • 45. ##bols And Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding Symbols and symbolism are important to have in a story because it helps readers to focus on the deeper meanings and themes under the main story. Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is a novel that contains myriad symbolism. The novel is about a group of young boys who get stranded on an island with no adults, and the boys need to collaborate to survive; however, as time goes on, the collaborative efforts crumble and the boys begin to reveal their inner savage nature. To show the progression of savagery in the boys, Golding uses several symbols the conch, the mask, and the beast but none of these symbols are as important as the fire. The fire is the most important symbolbecause it emphasizes the importance of hope and rescue on the island, and how it can prevail even through the bos savage nature. On an island with no hope and seemingly no escape, the fire provides and symbolizes hope and rescue to escape the island. When Ralph is rallying the boys in the assembly, his main priority to the boys is that [they] must make smoke on the top of the mountain, [they] must make a fire (38). At this point in the story, Ralph has already been established as the leader, so his priority is very powerful to the boys on the island, to which they run to the mountain and attempt to create the signal fire. This quote is also important because it establishes the symbol of fire to be a beacon of hope and rescue for the boys, which is essential if they want to escape the island alive. ... There is anthropocentrism which places human needs and utility as the highest priority and values the environment only to the point at which it is useful to humans. In the words of Aristotle (Politics, Bk. 1, Ch. 8), nature has made all things specifically for the sake of man (Brennan, 2002). The acknowledgement of the necessity to preserve all life as well as the promotion of biodiversity and stability of ecosystems is really what sets this ideology apart from the others (Mazzotta, 1995). Lastly there is technocentrism in which the basis of this is the belief and reliance on modern society to solve environmental issues through innovation as well as economic strategy and natural resource management. It is believed that through technological advances, humankind may overcome any environmental obstacles that may arise (Pepper, 1996). This ideology holds that humankind can control nature through technology as well as create more sustainable processes when interacting with the environment (Sustainable Environment). From the experiences I have had over the years, respect and understanding of something or someone else seems to be the only way to really care about the outcome of the subject in question. Saying this, the fact that ecocentrism focuses on connections between humans and nature,I believe this ideology is most important when it comes to dealing with environmental issues. By grouping humans and nonhumans together and not allowing the interests of society to gain a higher moral ground than environmental interests, ecocentrism promotes sustainable interactions throughout nature. • 49. Moral Responsibility and Harry Frankfurt The incompatibilists argue that one is morally responsible for what she has done given that she could have done otherwise. Further, they think that if determinism is true then one could not have done otherwise, so if determinism is true, one is not morally responsible for things she has done. In debates surrounding the issue of free will, philosophers have focused on discussing whether determinism is true or false. Harry Frankfurt thinks even though the requirement of alternative possibilities in order to be held morally responsible for our actions seems intuitively plausible, it is a questionable premise in the argument provided by incompatibilists. Frankfurt calls the premise that a person is morally responsible for what he has done only if he could have done otherwise the principle of alternative possibilities or PAP (Frankfurt, 829). He argues that PAP is false and a person can be held morally responsible even if she could not have done otherwise. Frankfurt presents counterexamples to PAP to prove its falsity. He tells us to assume that there is a universal controller that wants to ensure certain outcomes. The controller makes it impossible for an agent to act otherwise, which causes her to act exactly as the controller wishes. Frankfurt argues that in such a case it is true that agent is not responsible for her action and that she could not have done otherwise, but he thinks that the agent s lack of responsibility does not follow from her inability to do otherwise. ...
