This document provides marks and feedback for Hollie Morriss' AS coursework in planning, construction, and evaluation. In construction, Hollie received high marks for technical skills including creative camera work, editing to build tension, and effective use of sound and music. The drama piece was praised for believably casting older actors from Hollie's family. In evaluation, Hollie effectively answered all questions using different technologies and received full marks for detail, examples, analysis, and reflection. There is evidence of excellence in the creative use of many of the technical skills.
Footage:
Is appropriate for target audience, fitting genre conventions of drama well.
Controlled use of camera although some shots at start out of focus. Excellent use
of mise-en-scene.
Editing:
Edited well to build tension throughout the dialogue. Good variety of shots used
throughout.
Sound:
Good use of diegetic and non-diegetic sound. Good choice of music to back the
film.
Overall:
An excellent drama piece. Great use of older actors and location to make the
opening more believable.
Evaluation – Comments and mark out of 18/20
Question 1: Answered using a word and slideshare. Excellent inclusion of Todorov’s
narrative theory. Candidate explains well how she conforms to her genre conventions using
good examples from films within the genre.
Question 2: Answered using power-point and slideshare. Candidate explains well who the
target audience is and how they are represented in her film opening. She acknowledges that
idea to use her mother and father in her film made the characters more believable to the
audience and helped represent the desired social groups.
Question 3: Answered using prezi. Candidate looks at 20th
Century Fox, Warner Brothers,
Lionsgate and Paramount and concludes that 20th
Century Fox would suit her film best using
good clear examples.
Question 4 and 5: Answered using powtoon and blogger. Question 4 answered well using
avatars to show stereotypical audience members likes and dislikes. Question 5 answered
using a survey of a good range of people. Results are displayed in the powtoon and the raw
results via a blog post. Results are analysed and reflected on in good detail.
Question 6: Answered using prezi. Excellent detail on all the technologies used throughout
the process. Great inclusion of strengths, weaknesses and opportunities.
Question 7: Answered using a visual podcast via youtube. Candidate provides a very
detailed reflective piece explaining what she has learnt throughout her journey, excellent
detail, well done.
Overall an excellent evaluation, great attention to detail and uses a good range of
technologies, well done.
