Construction – Main Task – comments and mark out of 50/60
There is evidence of excellence in the creative use of many of the technical skills.
Footage:
Is appropriate for target audience, fitting genre conventions of thriller well.
Controlled use of camera throughout. Great use of mise en scene and opening
titles.
Editing:
Edited excellently to build the suspense. Great variety of shots used throughout.
Good use of tracking shots.
Sound:
Great use of diegetic and non-diegetic sound. Sound and dialogue were balanced
well.
Overall:
An excellent thriller piece fitting the genre well.
Evaluation – Comments and mark out of 13/20
Question 1: Answered using word and slideshare. Candidate offers clearly
thought through analysis on his choices for his film opening using screen grabs.
Good use of examples throughout.
Question 2: Answered using prezi. Candidate explains well which social groups
are represented in his film. Good inclusion of how costume colour could be
interpreted as well as the use of informal dialogue.
Question 3: Answered using power-point and slideshare. Candidate explains well
that Blumhouse Productions would be best to distribute his film using some good
examples. Great analysis of their top films in comparison to yours.
Question 4 and 5: Answered using power-point and slideshare. Question 4 -
Avatars used to represent the stereotypical audience members. Good inclusion of
their likes and dislikes. Question 5 - A short survey was conducted but is unclear
how many people were questioned. Results have some reflection although would
have benefited from deeper analysis.
Question 6: Answered using prezi. A good collage created of the technologies
used. Technologies explained well, could have benefited from stating at what
stage all of the technologies were used.
Question 7: Answered using powtoon. Candidate provides a brief reflective piece
explaining what he has learnt throughout his journey from preliminary to final task.
Overall a proficient evaluation, most answers offer good attention to detail,
however some could have more.
