This document discusses holistic nursing and health. It defines holistic health as viewing physical, intellectual, sociocultural, psychological, and spiritual aspects of a person as an integrated whole. The goal of holistic nursing is to enhance healing of the whole person from birth to death. Holistic nursing focuses on health promotion, assisting healing, and preventing suffering by considering a patient's physical, emotional, social, economic, and spiritual needs. It uses both conventional and complementary approaches. Core values of holistic care include considering patients as experts in their own health and respecting their subjective experiences while recognizing each person's uniqueness. Dimensions of holistic health care discussed are nutritional awareness, physical fitness, stress management, and environmental sensitivity.
