10.  The word holistic & holism is derived from Greek word
“Holos” which means All, Entire, Total or Whole.
 The term “Holism” is coined by Jane Smuts, a South African
Statesman, in his book Holism & Evolution (1926).

11.  The term holistic health and holistic health care became
popular during the 1960s, when people voiced
dissatisfaction with the existing health care system.
 People stressed the need for a more holistic health care
system that took care of overall wellbeing of people and
not just the wellness of a single body part.

12.  The philosophical concept of holism includes the recognition that
the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
 Holism is the idea that all the properties of a given system
(biological, chemical, social, economic, mental, spiritual etc.)
cannot be determined or explained by its component parts alone.
 Instead, the system as a whole determines in an important way
how the parts behave.
