Example Of Simplification In Narrative
However, not all simplification would bring such consquences but benefit the point of view of the
narrative. Sometimes, they enhance the recieveing, concerning and understanding by the
audiences. In narrative, especially for film, have many limitation about length and presentation.
Therefore, although they are trying to relate the real issue and feeling in reality, they can barely do
that. As a result, simplification is necessary for the creator to simpify their idea, in a form of story to
tell their auidence. Although their point of view might not be comphrensive and well round as their
original idea, they could transprit to the audiencein a more effective way by the use of
simplifcation. For instance, the movie, Eye in the Sky (2015) uses lots of simplification upon its
characters design for simpifying the moral discussion. The whole movie is discussing should the
government shoot a missile to a base of terrorist which may cause a death of an innocent girl near

They might bring positive and negative consequences to the point suggested by the narrative, which
including the ignorance of other sides of view on a specific issues, or make the audiences think
more by themselves as they putting themselves in the stories. Moreover, simplification is a
necessary process of creating narrative as a refining from reality. The creators are going to take the
most important, meaningful and controversial part of their experiences and opinions, and take
them as the original ingredients to create their stories. And, narrative, especially for movie, is also a
kind of entertainment. Therefore, it is not supposed to be too difficult to understand for the
majority. For instead, they should be a degree of simplified for remaining the emotional excitement
for the audiences. So, simplification is not that bad as Tersman

The Relationship Between Democracy And Civility
Author Ken Burns (2011) describes the relationship between democracy and civility when he said,
But civility is essential to our ability as a nation to confront together difficult issues, even when we
may disagree, and to continue to improve as a country (National Constitution Center, 2011).
Democracy and civility go hand in hand; without democracy, there wouldn t be civility and
without civility there wouldn t be democracy. In a democracy, the model of dissent should be
deliberation, yet the long and careful debate we once had has shifted towards violent measures to
fulfill one s own needs. The model of dissent has transformed from deliberation to violencedue

Albert Bandura, a renowned psychologist, studied how some behaviors are learned through
imitation. He calls this the social learning theory. It is exemplified in his classic experiment
called the Bobo Doll Experiment. The children participating in the experiment were individually
shown into a room with toys and then played with them for 10 minutes while either, 1) 24
children (12 girls and 12 boys) watched a male or female model behaving aggressively toward a
toy called a Bobo Doll . The adults attacked the Bobo doll in a distinctive manner, either
punching or kicking and in some cases using a hammer. 2) Another 24 children were exposed to
a non aggressive model who played in a quiet and subdued manner for 10 minutes. 3) The final 24
children were used as a control group and were not exposed to any model at all (McLeod, 2011). In
order to study whether these three situations had a different effect on the children, the experimenter
subjected all the children to mild aggression arousal (McLeod, 2011) by taking each child
separately to a room with toys. Once the child began to play with the toys, the experimenter told
the child that these were the experimenter s best toys and she had decided to reserve them for the
other children (McLeod, 2011). The experimenter then brought the child into the next room, which
had some aggressive toys, such as a toy hammer, and some non aggressive toys. For twenty minutes

Hemingway s Iceberg Theory Analysis
Hemingway s writing technique is an interesting way of writing. His Iceberg Theory is
influential to writers today. His theory is composed up of 10% conscious mind and 90% of only
subconscious mind. He was an authentic writer. His writing is relatable and believable because
of the silences he would use and short sentences. Hemingway s writing was is close to everyday

Summary Of Letter From Birmingham Jail By Elizabeth Costello
For almost any right movement, or important period of time, in the history of the world, there are
readings that will correlate with these movements. For example, during the Civil Rights Movement
there was Letter from Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King Jr., for the feminism movement,
there was Riot Grrrl Manifesto, and so many more important readings that go along with important
movements. These readings all have one common thing in common, they call for action in some
part of the movement. In The Lives of Animals by J.M. Coetzee, there are some points made by
Elizabeth Costello, the main character of the novella that could be used to represent the views that
this group believes in. Elizabeth Costello is a vegetarian, which she strongly... Show more content

Reincarnation is the belief that after one dies they will be reborn into another living being.
Looking at Costello s beliefs from this standpoint, Doniger argues that the Hindus for a while
believed in not eating meat because they had the possibility of being reborn as what they were
eating (i.e. a cow, a pig). Since she looked at it from this viewpoint, it is reasonable to believe
that it is odd for people to be eating what they could become in the future, and they will be spited
for doing so. Along with becoming an animal that they have eaten in their previous life, these
people would eventually become food for other people, and this is where the belief in karma kicks

That s a tall order. But my experience leading businesses in Africa, India, and other emerging

platform that can help companies solve the cost problems inherent in bringing needed products and

individuals were taken attempting to cross over the border but at the same time a new life awaited
Amabelle and Yves in their native country and for Amabelle the hope for her still remained that she
may be able to locate Sebastien.Once they arrived in Haiti, Amabelle and Yves eventually settled
at the family home of Yves and lived there for many years. During her time in Haiti Amabelle
frequently pondered the fate of her lover Sebastien the people she formerly served in the
Domincian Republic. Soon her curiosity gets the best of her and Amabelle arranges to once
again cross the border into the Dominican Republic and visit her old home where she lived as a
servant, to do this she would once again have to cross over the water, albeit this time by bridge.
After crossing over the bridge Amabelle Is driven back to Alegria, were she first encountered

Free Trade Agreement and Its Affect on Canadian Business
With the coming of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) there have been very serious implications for
Canadian business and for that matter, Canada as a whole. Many aspects of the previous economic
climate have changed such as the reduction or eliminatation of tariffs and the restrictions on
subsidies to name only a few. There has been much heated debate on the pros and cons of this
deal: whether Canada will prosper or become the 51st. American state. This paper will not take
this approach to the issue of whether or not it is a wise agreement, but will look at what business

Another reason for a dire need for an increase in efficiency is the trade relationship we are
currently involved in. While countries in say the EEC are in more or less the same economic
power bracket between Canada and the US, there is a major size difference. So if we are to have
any hope of competing with a power so large clearly we must become more efficient even more so
than other countries.
Another key aspect which business must deal with is that of becoming better suited to dealing with
the North American, and to a lesser extent, other foreign markets rather than only to Canadian or
even in some cases, to provincial markets. Corporations which do so stand far better of to gain
from the FTA than those that do not. It would be wise for the example of
Northern Telcom Ltd. to be followed. Where production and market presence are global and not just
Canadian. Unfortunately many companies are not following this example and are still very much
Canadian in their outlook.

The Public Schooling System Is Not The Same Since
The public schooling system is not the same since they have been dwindling down the right for
religion to be in schools. Religion needs to be put back into the school system so then maybe
people will be more informed on things out in the real world. I am not saying that it needs to be a
required course, however, give students the opportunity to learn about it. Among just making it a
course in itself one course it could be reintroduced to is the science class. They talk about evolution
but yet they do not teach about creationism. In history classes they can reintroduce religionbecause
important religious facts (like Martin Luther King Jr. being a black priest) have been taken out
of school text books so people do not get offended. When I say religion needs to be put back in
the schooling system I mean most religions that are in the world today and not just Christianity.
Students would do a lot better in school if there was some sort of religious class being taught. I
understand that schools cannot teach just any one religion legally because people in today s
world are taking the first amendment to seriously. However, if they could, they might see a lot of
students excelling in school. This includes all students, because they are learning more about
their beliefs and if they want, other beliefs as well as learning better how to cope with today s
society. It would have been better for me for the simple fact that I would have been relying more

Merchant Of Venice Theme Analysis
The Merchant of Venice
Question:
The Merchant of Venice was a play about a Jewish moneylender who plots to cut off a pound of
flesh from a Merchant whom he has a history with. Revenge was the central theme of Shakespeare s
play The Merchant of Venice . However, there are other themes throughout the text, namely
friendship and prejudice, that help to emphasise revenge as the central theme of the play.
Revenge is an integral part of the play and characters in the play. Revenge is what drives Shylock,
seeking to obtain revenge on Antonio. In a way, Jessica seeks revenge for the hell that her father
made at home. In Venice, during the time of Shakespeare, Jews were not seen as humans. They
were alienated for their beliefs and due to the belief that Jews were responsible for the death of
Christ. As a result of this alienation, Jews were forced to wear red hats whenever going out,
which made them ripe for the picking for abuse and discrimination. Such discrimination has

Arthropods Lab Report
Universal Statement: There 5 classes of Arthropods. There are the Myriapods, Trilobites,
Chelicerates, Crustaceans, and Insects. The Myriapods are many footed and have one to two
pairs of appendages per body segment. They are the centipedes and millipedes. Trilobites are
extinct and we only have their fossils. Chelicerates are the Arachnids and anything with eight
legs. Crustaceans are the crabs and anything with ten or more legs. The insects are the ones with
3 pairs of legs and body regions. They all have a segmented body plan, exoskeleton composed of
chitin, bilateral symmetry, and paired jointed appendages. In our lab we were trying to identify
and label the internal and external anatomy of a grasshopper from the class insecta. 1 Re do

How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Reaction
A chemical reaction is a process that involves the movement of the molecules in a substance. All
chemical reactions involve both reactants and products. Reactants are substances that cause a
chemical reaction, and products are substances that are generated in the reaction. The reaction
rate for a reactant or product in a particular reaction is defined as how quickly or slowly a
reaction takes place. In general, the reactions between covalent compounds are slow. For example
rusting of iron. In the same way weathering of rocks takes place in millions of years. An example
of a fast reaction rateis in an explosion when the reaction has to happen quickly. In general, the
reactions between ionic compounds are fast. This reaction is also called neutralisation reaction.
Reaction rates can be altered in four ways these are; The temperature is increased, the
concentration of a dissolved reactant is increased, the pressure of a reacting gas is increased, solid
reactants are broken into smaller pieces and if a catalyst is used or added. In this investigation it
was tested if a chemical reactionwould occur faster if the surrounding temperature was hotter.
Aim
The aim of this experiment was to find out how temperature affects the rate of reaction between
Sodium thiosulfate (hypo) and hydrochloric acid.
Hypothesis It is believed that if the temperature is hotter then the reaction rate will occur faster.
This is because the heat will make the particles move faster.

Jean Sibelius Research Paper
Jean Sibelius born as Johan Christian Julius Sibelius on December 8, 1865 in a small Russian
town in Finland. Sibelius began to take his interest in music serious when he became a teenager.
At the age of 20, he decided to pave his way in the music industry by declaring it as a career. He
was positive that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Then, he enrolled in a
music school to fulfill this dream. The school was later named Sibelius Academy in his honor.
Sibelius began to work with well known composers and figured that he wanted to be a violinist.
However, he waited to late into his career to make this sort of decision. The training was too
intense. Sibelius spent most of his music career composing pieces in well known places such as
Italy and Berlin. It has been found that Sibelius cherished nature especially the scenery from his
usual surroundings. Therefore, many of his works were influenced by the elegance of nature.
Sibelius grew up in the age when Finland was fighting for its independence from Russia. His
pieces made the people of Finland raise their eyebrows but in a good way. However, it did not sit
that well with the people in power. Sibelius music grew from a romantic tradition.... Show more

He also composed symphony poems. The Symphony No. 1 in E minor, Op. 39 was Sibelius first
instrumental to be composed. This symphony seemed to have a romantic touch behind it. It
even seemed as if it could have had a sort of important reasoning behind it. While watching the
performance of this symphony, I played the role of a referential listener. This particular piece of
music made me feel at peace. The smooth rhythm and low tune of the symphony reminded me of
nature. The symphony made me feel as if the song was composed for naturalists or people who
are interested in forestry. It was sort of hard for me to fully focus on the music because the beat of

Rape Culture Analysis
Rape culture is the environment in which rape is common and sexual violence against women is
normalized by the media. Rape culture is promoted with the use of misogynistic language, the
objectification of women s bodies, and the glamorization of sexual violence, which creates a
society that ignores the rights and safety of women. In 2013, Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams
released the summer hit Blurred Lines, which became known as a rapesong. Blurred Lines is the
perfect example of how rape culture is used by the media while using misogynistic language,
objectification of women s bodies, and glamorization of sexual violence. Robin Thicke and Pharrell
Williams Blurred Lines uses misogynistic lyrics that promotes rape culture. The first use of
misogynistic language is in the bridge of the song when Thicke sings Tried to domesticate you, But
you re an animal. Thicke is obviously comparing a girl to an animal in this lyric, but he also
mentions that someone tried to domesticate her, which means that they trained to tame which
implies he owns her. The ownership of a womanis a misogynistic way of thinking because people
cannot own other people. Then in the hook of the song Thicke calls the girl a Good girl, which is
very condescending because it sounds like he is speaking down to her. This suggest that he is
superior to her and is asserting his male dominance. In the second verse of the song Thicke sings
You the hottest bitch in this place, which is a

The Importance Of The Professional And Transformation...
The professional and transformation model both have key elements that make them very different,
however both also relied on teamwork and strong leadership (Mclauglinc, 2014). The
transformation model is a concept that encourages the grow of organization by allowing employees
to provide feedback on projects without fear of negative repercussions. It encourages collaboration
and provides the opportunity for employees to assumed leadershiproles at various levels or the

planning, administrative authority.
Healthcare organizations are beginning to adopt the transformation process, but not all
organizations have applied the transformation at the same level. An example of this can be seen in
nursing, in this particular area nurses have become aware of implementing stronger communication
between providers and nursing staff this has increase patient safety (NBCI,
2004). New clinical safety measures have been applied to medication safety such as the use of the
Three Identifiers where nurses and doctors confirm the medications to be administer by following

doctor, nurse and patient all are aware of the medication being administer (welch,

The Ice Of Old Vodka Bottles
As I took another drink from my glass, I glanced at the bartender another look assuming he knew
what I wanted. The bar was old. You would look over the counter and see dust covering old
vodka bottles. I hate this bar. It was just another Friday I have wasted. The bar was sticky with
liquor, the stools were squeaky with every move. For a barsmelling like booze and vomit, it was
cramped on a Friday night. This wasn t my first breakup, I ve had many before. There was Jenny.
She was protective, always checking my phone thinking there was always another, she ended
that one. There was also Ashley. She was sweet, maybe too sweet. She was always wanting to do
something for me whether it was buying me a golden watch or love, it was always something. I
quickly ended that relationship. Besides those girls there was much more, currently it s Amy.
Like Ashley she was nice, but like Jenny, kinda crazy. What broke me off was her long towards
commitment she had. I don t like commitment, commitment means being trapped and being
trapped means no freedom. Commitment for me, is a big no no. As the bartender slid me

Phantom Limb Pain: Characteristics, Mechanisms, Treatments
Phantom limb pain is the onset of pain following amputation of a limb. Stump pain and phantom
sensations are also common versions of this phenomenon. Phantom limb sensation includes any
type of feeling besides pain where a body part is absent and stump pain is specifically located in
the stump. All amputees experience some type of phantom feeling, but for some with severe pain it
can be very difficult to treat. The first person to describe this phenomenon was Ambroise Pare in

Effects Of The Amistad Revolt
On July 2, 1839, 53 hostage Africans on board the Amistad, a slave ship, broke out of their chains
and snuck up to the primary deck, where they overpowered and killed two crewmembers and
incapacitated the rest. Having hence seized control of the ship, they endeavored to cruise back to
their country, just to be deluded into traveling north rather than east. Throughout the following two
months, they went around 1,400 miles from Cuba to Long Island, New York, until the point when
the Naval force lifted them up and re imprisoned them. The Amistad was not the only slave revolt,
but one of the most significant. This revolt was an integral part of slave history because it brought
attention to the issue of slavery, inspired many, and helped establish laws and court systems today.
This Revolt brought attention to the issue of slavery. From the sixteenth to the nineteenth
centuries, approximatelyn expected 12 million Africans were persuasively dispatched over the
Atlantic Sea to the New World. Of those, no less than 1.5 million are said to have died before
reaching shore. Many states had made the importation of slaves illegal. However, since bondage
itself stayed lawful in the greater part of those spots, unlawful exercises flourished. Along the shore
of present day Sierra Leone, for instance, Spanish slave merchant Pedro Blanco kept his business

Emile Durkheim s Impact On The World Of Sociology
Emile Durkheim was a sociologist who greatly impacted the world of sociology and changed
many concepts about the discipline. Durkheim s main goal was to get people to realize that one s
social experiences impact a person s behavior. Everything you encounter in your life, affects you in
some way. Durkheim conducted a social experiment where he used suiciderates in different
ethnicities, genders, and religions to prove his point. He concluded that these rates are constant
every year and they rarely change within their given category. During his research, he found that
one religion compared to another had higher suicide rates. He determined that this was due to their
social experiences. The example between Protestants and Catholics was used because Protestants
believe in freedom of their mind and actions, which excludes them from many social interactions

Haptics is the study of touch and the use of it. Research states that women are more likely to touch

Economic Inequality And Political Inequality
Economic inequality, also known as income inequality, is the interval between the rich and the
poor. Economic inequality refers to how the total wealth in the United States is distributed among
people in a social class. It is needed and it is important but due to the major gap difference, it
affects the Democratic Party and in addition, it also affects Americans because they do not
understand the actual wealth distribution. It is a major issue in the United Statesbecause it affects
other economic classes besides the 1 percent by limiting the opportunities for social mobility and it
hinders overall growth, such as the 15 percent (46.2 million) of Americans that live below the
federal povertyline, which is concentrated in minority people and single female headed household.
A question that many ask is if there is a connection between economic inequalityand political
inequality because lobbyist and interest groups tend to play an important role due to their higher
income and wealth. Having high income and wealth gives them the power to have a stronger
voice in politics, which grants access to political decision making, something people with low
income do not have. Finally, social movements have played in the past in trying to improve the
plight of the poor and unprivileged in the United States but after all the poor are getting poorer,
regardless of the help of the government and the rich are eventually getting richer because of that.

Degrees Of Unsaturation Of Hydrocarbons
An Analysis into how Degrees of Unsaturation of Hydrocarbons impact the enthalpy produced in a
Combustion Reaction
Aim
To investigate the relationship between the degrees of unsaturation (DoU) and the amount of
enthalpy, in a combustion reaction and to subsequently, determine whether a hydrocarbons
hydrogen deficiency increases or decreases the enthalpy of a reaction.
Hypothesis
It is hypothesised that a hydrocarbon with a lower DoU value will produce more heat energy and,
therefore, will have a lower enthalpy value. This is because a more saturated hydrocarbon produces
a greater amount of energy in a combustion reaction1.

percentage. While, addition of wheat germ slightly increased the time of coagulation .These results
are also in agreement with Imele and Atemnkeng (2001) who found that, the time of coagulation
was increased with increasing the coconut milk percentage. Moreover, Isono et al., (2001) reported
that coconut oil contained some antimicrobial compounds. The addition of coconut milk while the
yoghurt fermentation was already in progress may retard acidity development in yoghurt so
produced. This might be consequent upon the inhibitory effect of some chemical compounds
present in coconut milk on the yoghurt bacteria that were supposedly in the exponential (active)

Unfortunately there is no information about him, except few photos of paintings that he produced,
all of which are expected in traditional style. Djambalula follows the artistic convention of
Australian Aborigines that was established thousand years ago. The paintingis done on the small

along with rock and cave painting.
On the paintings we see 24 human like figures organized in three rows. The artist use white paint
against dark brownish background of tree bark. All figures look alike except five females in the
middle register, who can be identified by protruding breasts. Women hold some kind of rope or
curved stick, men are playing musical instruments and holding boomerangs. There are two figures
on the left side of the bottom register, that look like adult and child (based on the different size).
These two are placed in some kind of rectangular enclosure, it seems they are standing on a
foreground in front of the procession. They might be just observers of the ceremony, or about ...

Therefore life of such objects is quite short. It is unknown if Mimi Ceremony took part in any
ritual, or the artist made it as an educational device or he aimed to preserve and continue the
tradition. He might produced it for sale or someone acquired it after his death. The most important
that Djambalula was the native artist who worked in the tradition of his ancestors. That is why the
unique art of Australian Aborigines can survive. Mimi Ceremony represents a sacred event and can
be almost identical to the painting produced centuries ago, since for Australians only the exact
replication of visual patterns and performance can guarantee the response of the Dreamtime spirits

The Yellow Wallpaper Symbolism Essay
Commonly overlooked in its significance, the garden in The Yellow Wallpaper successfully
represents all elements of the main character s rebellious intentions. Generally, a garden features
well trimmed vegetation, which is guarded by a fence or wall to keep away outside forces, whether
it be humans or animals with intentions to harm the plants. In contrast, nature operates in a free
flowing manner, with its greenery tangled in abundance and lacking any type of structure. On the
surface, it may seem that the gardens kempt appearance is a blessing to the plants within, as they
are saved from the uncertainties of natural life by being incubated in a specific space. The main
character of The Yellow Wallpaper originally follows this notion

The word choice the main character employs to describe the plants is particularly notable, as it
implies a disobedient appearance in a garden that expects conformity in its essence. This oddly
described foliage becomes the inanimate representation of the main character herself, who is also
trying to rebel against a world passionate in its attempts to suppress and demean. The plants
become riotous and gnarly to actively resist attempts to be subordinated by the garden, and the
main character s observation of this conveys her desire to revolt, even though she cannot express
her displeasure in a communicable language. The main character s envy of the plants makes this
symbol even more powerful, as the greenery represents where she seeks to be: in a position where
she can fight her oppressors by being openly nonconformist. Unfortunately for the main character,
her rebellious behavior haves to be tucked away in the subconscious and in her own thoughts, as
she is unable to voice legitimate concerns in a patriarchal

Explore the presentation of Orientalist discourses in the short film Surviving Sabu.
I will be exploring the short film Surviving Sabu which was written and directed by Ian Iqbal
Rashid in 1998, with reference to the 1942 film The Jungle Book. My analysis will question the
presentation of Indian and Muslim identities in both films.
Surviving Sabu presents the relationship between two characters: a father and his son. The family
have immigrated to England at some point in recent decades, although the audience is never told
when or specifically where from. The characters have anonymity, we are not even told their names.
They could be two individuals of any migrant Indian, Muslim family, and the son concludes that this
is all that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They tell a kind of Indian folklore which is not of India, but constructed by Kipling himself. This is
not to suggest that what The Jungle Book depicts is a work of complete imagination; essentially an
idea with no corresponding reality, but rather that there are regular constellations of ideas which
become the pre eminent thing about the Orient . The Orient is conceptualised by strict and rigid
lines of thinking which can never do justice to the lives, histories and customs of the cultures and
nations whose location is in the East . It is the pre supposed authority of what is said about them
(the Orient) in the West which establishes the relationship between the Occident and the Orient as
one of power, of domination, of varying degrees of cultural hegemony. 5 Kipling arguably secures
this authority in his use of Hindi words and names; he can be perceived as merely documenting the
true voices of the other . In the same way, the 1942 film presents a character who is played by an
actor of Indian heritage; what is depicted henceforth says something true about Indian culture. Such
presentations legitimise stereotypical and problematic representations of Orientalist characters, for
example the village men in The Jungle Book as brutish, simple minded and power hungry. The
greedy characters of the barber, the pundit and Buldeo are easily corrupted by the

Essay on Zuma Beach
It was a sunny Friday afternoon when I decided to take my observations with me out into the
world. I find that my imagination wanders off on its own and takes trips to the ocean without me
so I figured my body had some catching up to do. With a snap of my fingers and a short ride
through the canyon I found myself at my childhood playground, Zuma Beach. Without hesitation I
laid my towel down upon the tiny grains and chips of rocks that the oceans might has turned into
sandover the years. I took a moment to put my life on hold and gaze at what nature had to offer to
me. I reflected upon all of the other places I could have been instead of standing with my toes
curling in the warm sandy beach and smiled in appreciation of my situation.... Show more content

I thought about the obnoxious sign on the roof of the snack shack that read FOOD in bright red
letters just incase a skydiver got hungry and needed to know where to land. I listened closer and
realized to make itself stand out even more, the snack shack was also serving music out of its
loudspeakers to all the beachgoers. The awful screeching sounds of guitar and horrific screaming
that sounded like some form of animal torture was being blasted to the masses whether we liked it
or not. The thought that little children were being forced to listen to this blood thirsty melee began
to make me uncomfortable, but I was interrupted by the thunderous sound of water crashing into
itself from above.
I opened my eyes and saw a wall of liquid rapidly churning together in all different directions. As
this fluid mountain of water approached me it swelled bigger and bigger and then decided to calm
down and slowly flattened out into a slow rolling sea of foam. All was still for a moment but then
movement started again and I was in the midst of seeing another wave form. The sea of foam
slowed down to a crawl and started to flow backwards. The water began to swirl in a wavy
motion picking up speed in the opposite direction that it had just come from. A distance away out
in the ocean I could see the water level begin to rise. The flat lake of water in front of me had now
turned into a Jacuzzi, flowing and picking up speed towards

Influence Of Religion In Canterbury Tales
The author of The Canterbury Tales had much to say when it came to religion and the religious
people of his society. Chaucer gave descriptions on a number of characters from different
backgrounds. He had a certain bias towards people who are truly good while the truly bad people
were made fun of by him He paid special attention to a character when the topic of religion was
involved. With the Pardoner s Tale, the Pardoner acted like a hypocrite and the author made sure
to point out his hypocrisy, be it implied or expressed in the story. Chaucer was one of the very
few who had the courage to criticize church officials in his lifetime, and it shows that he had a
swell time doing it as well. That is why Chaucer, the author of The Canterbury Tales, viewed
religion and church officials as a joke because he made fun of most of the religious characters in
his prologue, was more meticulous towards religious characters on the topic of religion, and
pointed out the hypocrisy of the Pardoner s morals in his character description and in the
Pardoner s Tale. Chaucer made fun of most of the religious characters in his prologue. One of the
very first church officials in the prologue is the Nun. The Nun is supposed to constantly be pure
and holy, but Chaucer introduces her physical appearance by jokingly saying Her forehead,
certainly, was fair of spread, Almost a span across the brows, I own (109: 158 159). Chaucer is
certainly known for joking around in the Canterbury

Homer, Plato And Diogenes
From the Archaic to the Classical periods in ancient Greek history, not only did human sculptures
change from rigid, inaccurate depictions of the human body to life like renditions of the gods, but
also, Greek views on the soma and the psyche evolved as well. The writings of Homer, Plato, and
Diogenes, all hailing from different times in Greek history, offer insight about their respective
views on the relationship of the body and the soul. The attitudes toward the dichotomy between the
body and soul of Homer, Plato, and pre Socratic writer, Diogenes differ distinctly on their emphasis
of the soul s role in the body. And through close analysis, it is evident that over time, the
perspectives of ancient Greek philosophers evolve toward placing... Show more content on

While Homer sees the body as an essential part of human identity, and Plato views the body as a
vessel and a contaminate of the soul, Diogenes highlights the air s role in aiding the soul to provide
life to the body. In a fragment from Aristotles, On the Soul, Diogenes is cited stating that air is
composed of the finest particles, and as an ultimate principle; for this reason he believes that the
soul both knows and causes movement (Aristotle 405a22). At first glance, this quote seems
contradictory in view of the fact that Diogenes believes the soul, a nonmaterial entity, is made
of air particles, which are physical objects. However, when referring to air in this context,
Diogenes does not mean the oxygen and carbon dioxide that we use to respire, rather he
considers air a cosmic form of air that flows with all of nature s fluctuations and changes, an air
with an infinite supply in the universe that runs through all living things. So, if examining
Diogenes works through the cosmic air lens, we see that the soul, like in Plato s depiction of the
body and soul, is the main driving force of the body; in fact, Diogenes is cited as saying that
men and all other animals live by means of Air, which they breathe in, and this for them is both
Soul (Life) and Intelligence (Diogenes 4). Additionally, Diogenes is also cited as noting that if all
air leaves the ducts, death occurs (Aetius 24.3). Mentioned earlier, Diogenes is quoted as saying
that air serves a purpose in assuring that the soul knows and causes movement. Clearly, in
Diogenes depiction of the soul, air is more than an inanimate particle floating in space; in fact, air
seems to function as a de facto soul. Thus, one can see that the pre Socratic philospher continually
comments on the importance of the soul s role in the body and how

Examples Of Storm In A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
In Marquez s short story A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, a storm is evidently passing
through. Pelayo, Elisenda and their family seem to live near an ocean being that crabs have
flooded their yard. Their child was sick which they presumed was due to the stench of the
thousands of crabs present. Pelayo went to clean up the crab catastrophe only to discover a
winged, not so angelic looking man lying face down in the dirt. He begins to believe that the
man is an angel who was coming to take his child as if the child was going to pass away, but the
angel never quite made it to them. The man did not move so they moved him themselves placing
him in their chicken coop. Word traveled quickly about this strange creature being on their
property and people began coming from everywhere to check him out for themselves. The local
priest decided the man could not be an angel because he didn t have that angelic appearance, but
rather that of a person who had been sleeping out on the streets. However, everyone still
perceived the man as an angel when truthfully, he was just a dirty man with wings residing in a
coop. People began coming to him from far and wide seeking out advice. There was such a large
turn out that Elisenda began charging people to see him and obtained enough funding to allow both
of them to stop working and buy property. However, the old man eventually gains the strength it
takes for him to fly away. Connections This story connects to the real world through

The Movie Water Essay
Water the Movie by Deepa Mehta The movie Called Water was a piece of history for me on how
the other side of the world lives. The way the young girls were married off at a young age just
makes me feel sick. They were treated as they were the untouchables. The movie is revolved
around the widows and how they live their lives at the bottom of the Cast system. Capturing the
struggles and horrid conditions, That the widows in India faced. During the time where
widowed women were treated as trash. The women were sent to an ashram, and forced to obey
to the traditional rules no matter if the laws were in their favor. A widow was not supposed to get
married again, wear other colors besides white, grow their hair long. The fact that the widows
were hopeless, treated like an Untouchable was sad and I think they should be treated as equals.

Kalyani drowned herself, unable to deal with he had she was dealt by the Gods. Chuiya was left
alone, and eventually sold into prostitution, by both Gulabi and Mahumati. Shakuntala could rescue
her when Gulabi returned to the ashram. Chuiya was traumatized by the situation. She remained

Sometimes, they enhance the recieveing, concerning and understanding by the audiences. In narrative, especially for film, have many limitation about length and presentation. Religion needs to be put back into the school system so then maybe people will be more informed on things out in the real world. I am not saying that it needs to be a required course, however, give students the opportunity to learn about it. Among just making it a course in itself one course it could be reintroduced to is the science class. They talk about evolution but yet they do not teach about creationism. In history classes they can reintroduce religionbecause important religious facts (like Martin Luther King Jr. being a black priest) have been taken out of school text books so people do not get offended. When I say religion needs to be put back in the schooling system I mean most religions that are in the world today and not just Christianity. Students would do a lot better in school if there was some sort of religious class being taught. I understand that schools cannot teach just any one religion legally because people in today s world are taking the first amendment to seriously. However, if they could, they might see a lot of students excelling in school. Merchant Of Venice Theme Analysis The Merchant of Venice Question: The Merchant of Venice was a play about a Jewish moneylender who plots to cut off a pound of flesh from a Merchant whom he has a history with. Revenge was the central theme of Shakespeare s play The Merchant of Venice . However, there are other themes throughout the text, namely friendship and prejudice, that help to emphasise revenge as the central theme of the play. Revenge is an integral part of the play and characters in the play. Revenge is what drives Shylock, seeking to obtain revenge on Antonio. In a way, Jessica seeks revenge for the hell that her father made at home. In Venice, during the time of Shakespeare, Jews were not seen as humans. They were alienated for their beliefs and due to the belief that Jews were responsible for the death of Christ. As a result of this alienation, Jews were forced to wear red hats whenever going out, which made them ripe for the picking for abuse and discrimination. Such discrimination has been laid down on Shylock, with Antonio spitting on him and calling him a cut throat dog . As seen in Scene Act 1, Scene 3, Antonio, even after receiving a loan, I am as like to call thee so again, To spit on thee again, to spurn thee too. This shows how unthankful Antonio is towards Shylock, simply because he is a Jew. It is no wonder why Shylock seeks revenge on Antonio. All chemical reactions involve both reactants and products. Reactants are substances that cause a chemical reaction, and products are substances that are generated in the reaction. The reaction rate for a reactant or product in a particular reaction is defined as how quickly or slowly a reaction takes place. In general, the reactions between covalent compounds are slow. For example rusting of iron. In the same way weathering of rocks takes place in millions of years. An example of a fast reaction rateis in an explosion when the reaction has to happen quickly. In general, the reactions between ionic compounds are fast. This reaction is also called neutralisation reaction. Reaction rates can be altered in four ways these are; The temperature is increased, the concentration of a dissolved reactant is increased, the pressure of a reacting gas is increased, solid reactants are broken into smaller pieces and if a catalyst is used or added. In this investigation it was tested if a chemical reactionwould occur faster if the surrounding temperature was hotter. Aim The aim of this experiment was to find out how temperature affects the rate of reaction between Sodium thiosulfate (hypo) and hydrochloric acid. Hypothesis It is believed that if the temperature is hotter then the reaction rate will occur faster. This is because the heat will make the particles move faster. Materials Dilute ... Blurred Lines is the perfect example of how rape culture is used by the media while using misogynistic language, objectification of women s bodies, and glamorization of sexual violence. Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams Blurred Lines uses misogynistic lyrics that promotes rape culture. The Effect Of Coconut Milk And Wheat Germ On Chemical Results and Discussion Chemical Analysis: The results of the effect of coconut milk and wheat germ on chemical composition are presented in Table (1). The results show that have a significant (P 0.05) effect on the fat content and ph value. In this regard, the fat contents was increased significantly (P 0.05) with increasing the coconut milk percentage .While, the pH values were having significant (P 0.05) differences between the treatments. Thus, these results may reflect high fat content and low pH values of coconut milk.Though.the pH of all the yoghurt decreased with fermentation time, however, the differences observed in the degree of pH decrease in the fermenting yoghurt might be a reflection of the ability of the yoghurt ... While, addition of wheat germ slightly increased the time of coagulation .These results are also in agreement with Imele and Atemnkeng (2001) who found that, the time of coagulation was increased with increasing the coconut milk percentage. Moreover, Isono et al., (2001) reported that coconut oil contained some antimicrobial compounds. The addition of coconut milk while the yoghurt fermentation was already in progress may retard acidity development in yoghurt so produced. This might be consequent upon the inhibitory effect of some chemical compounds present in coconut milk on the yoghurt bacteria that were supposedly in the exponential (active) phases of growth. • 41. Djambalula Bark Tree Essay The painting is done by artist Djambalula (1908 1960), the Aborigene from Northern Australia. Unfortunately there is no information about him, except few photos of paintings that he produced, all of which are expected in traditional style. Djambalula follows the artistic convention of Australian Aborigines that was established thousand years ago. The paintingis done on the small tree bark, approximately 13 x 16 in. Bark tree is a traditional medium for Australian visual art, along with rock and cave painting. On the paintings we see 24 human like figures organized in three rows. The artist use white paint against dark brownish background of tree bark. All figures look alike except five females in the middle register, who can be identified by protruding breasts. Women hold some kind of rope or curved stick, men are playing musical instruments and holding boomerangs. There are two figures on the left side of the bottom register, that look like adult and child (based on the different size). These two are placed in some kind of rectangular enclosure, it seems they are standing on a foreground in front of the procession. They might be just observers of the ceremony, or about ... • 42. The Yellow Wallpaper Symbolism Essay Commonly overlooked in its significance, the garden in The Yellow Wallpaper successfully represents all elements of the main character s rebellious intentions. Generally, a garden features well trimmed vegetation, which is guarded by a fence or wall to keep away outside forces, whether it be humans or animals with intentions to harm the plants. In contrast, nature operates in a free flowing manner, with its greenery tangled in abundance and lacking any type of structure. On the surface, it may seem that the gardens kempt appearance is a blessing to the plants within, as they are saved from the uncertainties of natural life by being incubated in a specific space. The main character of The Yellow Wallpaper originally follows this notion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word choice the main character employs to describe the plants is particularly notable, as it implies a disobedient appearance in a garden that expects conformity in its essence. This oddly described foliage becomes the inanimate representation of the main character herself, who is also trying to rebel against a world passionate in its attempts to suppress and demean. The plants become riotous and gnarly to actively resist attempts to be subordinated by the garden, and the main character s observation of this conveys her desire to revolt, even though she cannot express her displeasure in a communicable language. The main character s envy of the plants makes this symbol even more powerful, as the greenery represents where she seeks to be: in a position where she can fight her oppressors by being openly nonconformist. Unfortunately for the main character, her rebellious behavior haves to be tucked away in the subconscious and in her own thoughts, as she is unable to voice legitimate concerns in a patriarchal ... • 43. I Will Be Exploring The Short Film Surviving Sabu Which... Explore the presentation of Orientalist discourses in the short film Surviving Sabu. I will be exploring the short film Surviving Sabu which was written and directed by Ian Iqbal Rashid in 1998, with reference to the 1942 film The Jungle Book. My analysis will question the presentation of Indian and Muslim identities in both films. Surviving Sabu presents the relationship between two characters: a father and his son. The family have immigrated to England at some point in recent decades, although the audience is never told when or specifically where from. The characters have anonymity, we are not even told their names. They could be two individuals of any migrant Indian, Muslim family, and the son concludes that this is all that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They tell a kind of Indian folklore which is not of India, but constructed by Kipling himself. This is not to suggest that what The Jungle Book depicts is a work of complete imagination; essentially an idea with no corresponding reality, but rather that there are regular constellations of ideas which become the pre eminent thing about the Orient . The Orient is conceptualised by strict and rigid lines of thinking which can never do justice to the lives, histories and customs of the cultures and nations whose location is in the East . It is the pre supposed authority of what is said about them (the Orient) in the West which establishes the relationship between the Occident and the Orient as one of power, of domination, of varying degrees of cultural hegemony. 5 Kipling arguably secures this authority in his use of Hindi words and names; he can be perceived as merely documenting the true voices of the other . In the same way, the 1942 film presents a character who is played by an actor of Indian heritage; what is depicted henceforth says something true about Indian culture. Such presentations legitimise stereotypical and problematic representations of Orientalist characters, for example the village men in The Jungle Book as brutish, simple minded and power hungry. The greedy characters of the barber, the pundit and Buldeo are easily corrupted by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Essay on Zuma Beach It was a sunny Friday afternoon when I decided to take my observations with me out into the world. I find that my imagination wanders off on its own and takes trips to the ocean without me so I figured my body had some catching up to do. With a snap of my fingers and a short ride through the canyon I found myself at my childhood playground, Zuma Beach. Without hesitation I laid my towel down upon the tiny grains and chips of rocks that the oceans might has turned into sandover the years. I took a moment to put my life on hold and gaze at what nature had to offer to me. I reflected upon all of the other places I could have been instead of standing with my toes curling in the warm sandy beach and smiled in appreciation of my situation.... I thought about the obnoxious sign on the roof of the snack shack that read FOOD in bright red letters just incase a skydiver got hungry and needed to know where to land. I listened closer and realized to make itself stand out even more, the snack shack was also serving music out of its loudspeakers to all the beachgoers. The awful screeching sounds of guitar and horrific screaming that sounded like some form of animal torture was being blasted to the masses whether we liked it or not. The thought that little children were being forced to listen to this blood thirsty melee began to make me uncomfortable, but I was interrupted by the thunderous sound of water crashing into itself from above. I opened my eyes and saw a wall of liquid rapidly churning together in all different directions. As this fluid mountain of water approached me it swelled bigger and bigger and then decided to calm down and slowly flattened out into a slow rolling sea of foam. All was still for a moment but then movement started again and I was in the midst of seeing another wave form. The sea of foam slowed down to a crawl and started to flow backwards. The water began to swirl in a wavy motion picking up speed in the opposite direction that it had just come from. A distance away out in the ocean I could see the water level begin to rise. The flat lake of water in front of me had now turned into a Jacuzzi, flowing and picking up speed towards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Influence Of Religion In Canterbury Tales The author of The Canterbury Tales had much to say when it came to religion and the religious people of his society. Chaucer gave descriptions on a number of characters from different backgrounds. He had a certain bias towards people who are truly good while the truly bad people were made fun of by him He paid special attention to a character when the topic of religion was involved. With the Pardoner s Tale, the Pardoner acted like a hypocrite and the author made sure to point out his hypocrisy, be it implied or expressed in the story. Chaucer was one of the very few who had the courage to criticize church officials in his lifetime, and it shows that he had a swell time doing it as well. That is why Chaucer, the author of The Canterbury Tales, viewed religion and church officials as a joke because he made fun of most of the religious characters in his prologue, was more meticulous towards religious characters on the topic of religion, and pointed out the hypocrisy of the Pardoner s morals in his character description and in the Pardoner s Tale. Chaucer made fun of most of the religious characters in his prologue. One of the very first church officials in the prologue is the Nun. The Nun is supposed to constantly be pure and holy, but Chaucer introduces her physical appearance by jokingly saying Her forehead, certainly, was fair of spread, Almost a span across the brows, I own (109: 158 159). • 46. Homer, Plato And Diogenes From the Archaic to the Classical periods in ancient Greek history, not only did human sculptures change from rigid, inaccurate depictions of the human body to life like renditions of the gods, but also, Greek views on the soma and the psyche evolved as well. The writings of Homer, Plato, and Diogenes, all hailing from different times in Greek history, offer insight about their respective views on the relationship of the body and the soul. The attitudes toward the dichotomy between the body and soul of Homer, Plato, and pre Socratic writer, Diogenes differ distinctly on their emphasis of the soul s role in the body. And through close analysis, it is evident that over time, the perspectives of ancient Greek philosophers evolve toward placing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Homer sees the body as an essential part of human identity, and Plato views the body as a vessel and a contaminate of the soul, Diogenes highlights the air s role in aiding the soul to provide life to the body. In a fragment from Aristotles, On the Soul, Diogenes is cited stating that air is composed of the finest particles, and as an ultimate principle; for this reason he believes that the soul both knows and causes movement (Aristotle 405a22). At first glance, this quote seems contradictory in view of the fact that Diogenes believes the soul, a nonmaterial entity, is made of air particles, which are physical objects. However, when referring to air in this context, Diogenes does not mean the oxygen and carbon dioxide that we use to respire, rather he considers air a cosmic form of air that flows with all of nature s fluctuations and changes, an air with an infinite supply in the universe that runs through all living things. So, if examining Diogenes works through the cosmic air lens, we see that the soul, like in Plato s depiction of the body and soul, is the main driving force of the body; in fact, Diogenes is cited as saying that men and all other animals live by means of Air, which they breathe in, and this for them is both Soul (Life) and Intelligence (Diogenes 4). Additionally, Diogenes is also cited as noting that if all air leaves the ducts, death occurs (Aetius 24.3). Mentioned earlier, Diogenes is quoted as saying that air serves a purpose in assuring that the soul knows and causes movement. Clearly, in Diogenes depiction of the soul, air is more than an inanimate particle floating in space; in fact, air seems to function as a de facto soul. Thus, one can see that the pre Socratic philospher continually comments on the importance of the soul s role in the body and how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Examples Of Storm In A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings In Marquez s short story A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, a storm is evidently passing through. Pelayo, Elisenda and their family seem to live near an ocean being that crabs have flooded their yard. Their child was sick which they presumed was due to the stench of the thousands of crabs present. Pelayo went to clean up the crab catastrophe only to discover a winged, not so angelic looking man lying face down in the dirt. He begins to believe that the man is an angel who was coming to take his child as if the child was going to pass away, but the angel never quite made it to them. The man did not move so they moved him themselves placing him in their chicken coop. Word traveled quickly about this strange creature being on their property and people began coming from everywhere to check him out for themselves. The local priest decided the man could not be an angel because he didn t have that angelic appearance, but rather that of a person who had been sleeping out on the streets. However, everyone still perceived the man as an angel when truthfully, he was just a dirty man with wings residing in a coop. People began coming to him from far and wide seeking out advice. There was such a large turn out that Elisenda began charging people to see him and obtained enough funding to allow both of them to stop working and buy property. However, the old man eventually gains the strength it takes for him to fly away. Connections This story connects to the real world through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
