The Shock Is A Life Threatening Condition Of Circulatory...
Shock is a life threatening condition of circulatory failure that most commonly presents with
hypotension. The effects of shock are initially reversible but can rapidly become irreversible, resulting
in multi organ failure (MOF) and death. when a patient present with undifferentiated hypotension, it is
important that the clinician rapidly identify the aetiology so that appropriate therapy can be
administered to prevent MOF and death (Vincent, 2013).
Assessment of hemodynamic status in a shock state remains a challenging issue in Emergency
Medicine. Early recognition and appropriate treatment of shock have been shown to decrease
mortality (Moore and Copel, 2011; Volpicelli, 2011). In case of medical emergencies there may not be
enough time to perform detailed diagnostic procedures and eliminating any imminently life
threatening conditions from the possibilities is always challenging in a busy ED.
Shock is defined as circulatory insufficiency that leads to under perfusion of organs in the body, which
can result in multi organ failure. Undifferentiated shock refers to the situation where shock is
recognized, but the cause is unclear. In general shock can be classified into 4 subtypes (Tintinalli,
2010):
Hypovolemic shock this happens as a result of severe blood or fluid loss as can be seen in
haemorrhage, rupture of aortic aneurysm, severe diarrhoea, vomiting.
Distributive shock this type of shock happens when the core intravascular volume is insufficient to

Avram In The Odyssey
In this parsha we meet our first forefather Avraham, who is commanded by Hashem to leave his land,
his birthplace and fathers house to go to a land he will inherit. This happens about 2000 years before
the common era, and Hashem promises to make him into a great nation and bless him throughout the
world. Avraham becomes a man with a historic mission, to become the father of a new nation which
would through its suffering and pain, profoundly influence our civilization. Who was this man
Avraham, whom Hashem chose to enter into an everlasting covenant? Avraham was the son of a
pagan, and grew up in an environment of evil. But he rose above this environment and created a way
of life and religion we call our heritage. He chose to be different to become the first Hebrew, (which
means literally from the other side ), he spoke with moral standards of his time, and pursued his quest
for a better and more meaningful way. Avraham showed that a person can make a new beginning. By
example, by deed, by holding to an ideal, one person can touch another he, ... Show more content on

Shrek Movie Analysis
Fairy tales don t always follow the same boring pattern; beautiful princess falls in love with her prince
charming and they live happily ever after. The movie Shrek, an ogre and beautiful princess fall in love,
though this beautiful princess has a secret; her secret is that by day a beautiful princess, and by night
an ugly ogre, at least in her eyes. Shrek thought she was beautiful as a human and as an ogre; this
hidden message is shown as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also in the movie, another implied
message is that people are prejudice to stereotypes. Though, once you truly know some one, it can be
really wonderful and life changing.
In Shrek, Princess Fiona is a beautiful princess who is locked away in a tower awaiting her ... Show

She ends up belching in front of Shrek and Donkey, also catching flies with a spiders web and handing
it to Shrek, and making a snake balloon for Shrek and accepting his frog balloon in return. Shrek and
Fiona end up falling in love, even though they didn t like each other at the beginning because they
assumed the other was not their type when in fact they are just alike.
Friendship is one of the most important things in life. This is also shown in Shrek between Donkey,
Shrek, and Fiona. Shrek and Donkey don t seem to get along at the beginning of the movie when
rescuing Princess Fiona from the dragons keep. After Shrek and Donkey save Princess Fiona, Shrek
overhears Princess Fiona and Donkey talking about her curse and how Princess Fiona thought she was
ugly as an ogre and Shrek wouldn t love her if she was an Ogre. Near the end of the movie, Shrek,
Donkey, and Princess Fiona all end up going their separate ways; Shrek ends up going back to his
swamp, Donkey has nowhere so he ends up just walking around the forest, and Princess Fiona ends up
going off to Duloc to marry Lord Farquaad. Before Princess Fiona and Lord Farquaad are married,
Donkey tells Shrek that they are friends and that Shrek should treat him more like one. In the end,
Shrek and Fiona end up happily together because of Donkey.
Though this fairy tale isn t like the average fairy tale, it still has implied and hidden messages. Shrek
displays many of

Obstacles In Odysseus
Obstacles of Odysseus We face obstacles daily and many are tougher than others, however unlike
Odysseus we try and avoid obstacles. Although, obstacles are an important aspect of life and must be
dealt with in order to further our growth and strengthen our minds. So in thought Odysseus grew and
strengthened himself without knowing it, he went through some heartbreaking obstacles but manages
to make it through but not without a few scars and bruises. Obstacles bring a hash reality to pass
however it is unlikely to hang overhead for long, there is always a solution and a way out no matter
how grueling the obstacle seems or becomes.
Through the eyes of Odysseus it may seem wise to seek out challenging obstacles because of an

Endothtermic And Exothermic Reaction Lab Report
Introduction:
Chemical reactions make new things by rearranging other things. In a chemical reaction, the main
change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those
connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed.
It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when bonds
are formed.
Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by
an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are observed
by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in
which the chemical energy changes.
In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance
into the water and dissolving it. The results recorded in the table below show that our hypothesis is
correct.
Aim:
To investigate temperature changes that occur as a result of exothermic and endothermic reactions.
Hypothesis:
It s predicted that when adding the chemical substance into the water, energy will be released or
absorbed, this will be observed by a temperature change, therefore, there would be an exothermic or
endothermic reaction.

Internet Privacy
The establishment of the internet has connected nearly 3 billion people today, but in today s society,
the word privacy is becoming controversial. We have to deal with this every day when using social
media, forum, checking our emails, even online transaction. The article, An Encrypted Internet Is a
Basic Human Right , published August of 2015, written by Nico Sell who is the co founder and co
chairman of Wickr Inc. implying that laws and policies are the usurping power used against businesses
and consumers. She integrated the ideas of George Washington as the great leader that empowers
people and the establishment of the U.S Postal Service as a civil liberty. The credibility of the essay is

questions the encrypted future of the internet; what would the laws be, how do we establish trust with
companies, and what should the standards of data collection be ? Today there is no utopia for a perfect
internet expecting everyone s privacy to be un vulnerable. As Sell said, Today, it is essential to set the
ground rules that will govern our networks and infrastructure systems in the future. (Sell, para. 10)
This means having to set ground rules will enable a foundation in creating strong encryption which is
essential for the private web allowing to keep out the prying eyes of the government and cyber

Essay on Literacy in African-American Literature
Levels of Literacy in African American Literature Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Song
of Solomon, and Push
Through literacy will come emancipation. So runs a theme throughout the various selections we have
read thus far. But emancipation comes in many forms, as does literacy. The various aspects of
academic literacy are rather obvious in relation to emancipation, especially when one is confronted
with exclusion from membership in the dominant culture. In the various slave narratives we have
examined, all but one writer, Mary Prince, managed to achieve academic literacy to varying degrees
(although, Mary Prince was in the process of learning to read and write). And even though she was not
literate, Mary was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Auld s reasoning is that being able to read would [...] forever unfit him [Douglass] to be a slave. He
would at once become unmanageable, and of no value to his master (274). From Auld s admonitions,
Douglass determines that his road to freedom is paved with words: From that moment, I understood
the pathway from slavery to freedom. [...] The very decided manner with which he spoke [...] served
to convince me that he was deeply sensible of the truths he was uttering (275). Douglass understands
that he has everything to gain from literacy, especially the freedom that he desires above all else. His
path will be difficult, though, since he will have to find ways to teach himself to read, but it becomes a
quest for him.
Does Frederick Douglass have to pay a price to become literate? He states that he [...] was compelled
to resort to various stratagems [...] to become literate and would [...] [make] friends of all the little
white boys whom I met in the street (276). He would ply them with scraps of bread in his efforts to
gain knowledge and would read while he was running errands for his master. Later, he forges
protections (307) so he and others can attempt to escape to Maryland. Ethically or morally, does he
feel even the slightest regret that he resorts to subterfuge and bribery to meet his goals? His text is not
explicit in this regard, but given his circumstances, it is obvious that the end justify

Is Children’s Development a Universal Staged Process or a...
Is Children s development a universal staged process or a social and cultural process?
There are three main approaches to child development, the scientific, the social constructionist and the
applied approach. Each of these approaches look at children s development from a different stand
point. I will go on to explore each approach in turn and how they can help us answer the above
question.
The scientific approach to child development seeks to explain the facts about child development. It
does this by devising theories which are then tested through observations and experiments. A classic
example of this is Jean Piaget (1896 1890) who was one of the most influential theorists in child
development. Piaget built up a theory about how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different cultures, religions and social economic conditions have different expectations and beliefs
around childhood. These have also been different throughout history. For example in Victorian Britain,
children were expected to work in the home, field, streets or in factories. However in modern Britain
we expect our children to spend much of their childhood learning at school. Another example is, Maya
s (U212 Video 1, band 1) experiences of childhood in the poor area Chittagong being different to the
twins Yasir and Yamin s experiences in middle class Chittagong. Each have different expectations of
their roles within society according to their social boundaries, gender, family and beliefs.
Central to the social constructionist approach is the concept of competing discourses of childhood. A
discourse is a particular way of thinking or a particular view point that is influenced by our gender,
language, history, beliefs, experiences and social boundaries. There are numerous discourses but a
romantic discourse sees children as inherently good; a child would only do terrible things if damaged
in some way. Contrary to this is the puritanical discourse which sees the child as inherently evil, doing
evil things because they are wicked and need punishing. Using the social constructionist view allows
us to recognise that a child who is a killer can be seen through these two very

A wind farm supervisory control (WFSC) is developed to generate the active power reference to the
RSC and GSC. WTG controllers then regulate each DFIG wind turbine to generate the desired amount
of active power, where the deviations between the available wind energy input and desired active
power output are compensated by the ESS. Simulation is done in Matlab for the grid connected wind
farm, the wind farm consists of 15 DFIG wind turbines each with 4MW capacity at different and
constant wind speeds. A constant active power Pref is taken at 38MW which can be specified by the
grid operator and the wind farm has to supply this constant active power. Simulation results are
studied for the active power supplied by wind farm with and without Energy Storage System (ESS).
Here we can observe that with ESS the active power supplied by wind farm is almost constant.
2. Doubly Fed Induction Generator Systems For variable speed systems with limited variable speed
range, e.g. ±30% of synchronous speed, the DFIG can be an interesting solution. As mentioned earlier
the reason for this is that power electronic converter only has to handle a fraction (20 30%) of the total
power. This means that the losses in the power electronic converter can be reduced

The Leap By Louise Erdrich, And The Trip By Laila Lalami
Have you ever thought that three completely different stories might have something in common? It
might seem unlikely, but now you can change what you previously thought! The short stories Contents
of a Dead Man s Pockets by Jack Finney, The Leap by Louise Erdrich, and The Trip by Laila Lalami,
all have their similarities and differences on several aspects. This can be demonstrated through the
topics of setting, conflict, characters, and theme. These topics help make up the plot of each story. No
story is the same, but they can have similar messages or themes meant for the audience. Some can
argue that these three short stories are completely different, but other individuals differ. These main
elements from each story can be both, depending on one s point of view.
The setting is a good example of both similarities and differences. For instance, the setting helped
shape the story and form the plot. In Contents, the main character (Tom) opens the window in his

The higher the ratio the better the company stands with ability to pay loans. The four quarters for
quick ratios in year one are as follows; 1.48, .14, .25, 1.29, and year 2 4 are as follows; 3.26, 3.88,
5.11, 5.69 (NetMBA, 2010.)
Profitability Ratios The profitability ratio shows the ability for a company to generate profits. Ratios
that are used calculating profitability of a company are return on assets and return on equity. The
return on assets calculates the ability of a company to effectively use assets to generate income, the
percentages per quarter in year one are; 76%, 22%, 34%, 37%. This shows profit during each quarter.
In years two, three, and four the percentages are; 68%, 54%, 49%, 38%. These ratios show a slight
decline but still a solid profit. The return on equity shows the amount of money earned per dollar
investing into the company by shareholders. By quarter, year one return on equity is .81 .61 .28 .29,
years two, three and four are all .32. These numbers show an above average return, the average return
in the United States is between .10 .15, and over .20 is considered above average (Kennon, 2011.)
Solvency Ratio The solvency ratio is the ability for a company to repay debts shown in a percentage.
The ratio shows if a business can meet goals of a long term loan by calculating the current and long
term liabilities divided by net profit after taxes plus depreciation. In years one through four the

Multicultural Counseling
In the profession of counseling, one must be aware of the copious amounts of cross cultural
relationships that are realistically going to be put into action throughout a competent career. To a
degree, all people come from different backgrounds and it is significant to the counselor to
comprehend and apply the basic foundations of building alliances with any client. There are different
levels of how people from diverse cultures learn to adapt to one another and being able to build
relations can at times need a counselor. Therefore putting cultural competency and acceptance at the

No matter the individuals circumstances, the person in need of counseling has no particular face, body,
or sexual preference. Despair has no bias. As reported by the United States Census Bureau (2015),
there is over 3 million people in America, and of those people at least eight million adults identify as
gay, lesbian, or bisexual (Advocate, 2011). These numbers represent a demand that will be in our
population for counseling, and with that must emerge new and innovative ways of therapy integration.
As we continue to research and discover more about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT), we
as counselors will be able to seek out resources, training, and experience when working across the sex
and gender barriers. Although we have an estimate of the population of individuals who define
themselves to be a part of the LGBT community, there are only more individuals who are feeling
confused and are harboring sexual attractions and behaviors within. This knowledge is imperative to
grasp in the counseling profession because many individuals may not feel open enough to talk about
such new controversial issues. A clear understanding of what the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and
Transgender community undergoes is the first step in becoming competent enough to providing a
positive moving cross cultural experience for both client and counselor. According to AMCD
Multicultural Counseling Competencies, Culturally skilled counselors should familiarize themselves
with relevant research and the latest findings regarding mental health and mental disorders that affect
various ethnic and racial groups. They should actively seek out educations experiences that enrich
their knowledge, understanding and cross cultural skills for more effective counseling behavior

Nature In Dialectic Of Enlightenment
In Dialectic of Enlightenment, through their discussion of nature s initial domination over man in
primitive society, by virtue of mankind s fear of the unknown and mana, and man s eventual
domination over nature through rationality and disillusionment, Frankfurt School philosophers
Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer conclude that there exists a paradox in which myths already
contain enlightenment just as enlightenment also already contains myths (11 12). Various examples,
such as the creation of myths, which contained enlightenment and rationality, the prohibition
surrounding the utterance of God s name, which still retained elements of mythology in an enlightened
world, and the blind reproduction of thought, which relapsed an enlightened world back into
mythology, support their argument.
Mana, the moving spirit, which was neither a subject nor an object, represented the intricacy and
complexity of nature compared to the primitive man. In the course of human history, even in its
earliest forms, human society has always reified observations in nature and inscribed them with
distinct meanings and stories. This pre animism emerged as a response to the cruel volatility of nature,
where man feared the unknown, and began the first lines of separation of subject and object (Adorno
and Horkheimer, 15). The gasp of surprise or cry of terror which accompanied the experience of the
unusual and unfamiliar became synonymous to its name, contradictorily creating both a subjective

Class Moe The Reasons for the Success of the Bolsheviks and the Outcomes for Their Success
The Bolsheviks played quite a successful role in the October Revolution. There were many reasons
that helped the Bolsheviks seize power and transform Russia into a modern socialist society namely,
the weakness of the provisional government, Lenin s great leadership, Trotsky s control, and finally,
the Bolsheviks successful propaganda. These acts shaped the Bolshevik Party and gained it social,
political, and economic support from the lower classes. This all resulted in both the creation of the
Soviet Union and the Civil War. The Bolsheviks went from being an insignificant radical party to a

The Dramatic Significance of Act 3 Scene 4 of The Banquet Scene of William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Throughout this scene we can see that both versions have been created to show the best interpretation
of the play Macbeth. Polanski s version is more realistic but I feel that it does not show the play in the
way in which Shakespeare had intended as this version was created by a film producer who had added
extra scenes and changed lines for some of the characters. He also used special effects which made the
play more of a viewing pleasure and helped create the realistic effect. The BBC version is less realistic

In Polanski s film, there is much more artistic license because the film isn t faced with the restrictions
that a stage production is. As such, the banquet hall is well lit and the hall is filled with guests and
slaves. Also there is bear bating in a characterisation of line 100, Approach thou like the rugged
Russian bear . This is proof of the greater artistic license that Polanski s version has, as they can even
have live animals on set. A close up of Macbeth is used at this point showing him enjoying the scene,
and this portrays the savagery of the human world. Macbeth is characterised as weaker than in the
BBC version, and the actor is younger.
Almost immediately the first murderer appears and starts to inform Macbeth of the murder they have

The Importance Of Motivation And Leadership In Historical...
Introduction
In this report, the author will look at two theoretical concepts, motivation and leadership in Historical
Cadbury. The reason the author selected these topics to speak about were; they were a crucial part to
the success of Cadburys. This report will include motivation and leadership concepts and will be
applied to the context of Historical Cadbury. I have chosen leadership and motivation as I believe they
were fundamental to the success of Cadburys. The purpose of this report is to demonstrate an
understanding of some of the dynamics and influences at play within Cadburys. The author will also
look to demonstrate how motivation and leadership impacts in the workplace. Another element of the
discussion will be about the concepts Cadburys used in order to accomplish their organisational goals.
In conclusion, the author will give their personal opinion on whether they believe motivation and
leadership had an impact on Cadburys in the historical era.
In 1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer s shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham. The Cadbury business
was born in 1831, when John Cadbury decided to begin producing on a commercial scale and bought
a four storey warehouse. Cadburys was built upon Quaker beliefs. In a Quaker community, a
struggling business was a liability, falling into debt was seen as a form of theft and was punished
severely (Cadbury, 2011).
In 1861, John Cadburys health declined and he retired, handing over the business to his sons Richard

This report uses the application of direct sales comparison approach to derive the site value for the
subject property. There are sufficient sales of vacant lots within 3 miles of the subject property. Seven
suitable vacant lot sales were selected and analyzed to estimate indicated subject s lot value (table_ 1).
The analysis uses a per sq. ft. unit in valuing the site. The vacant lots were sold March to October of
2013. Lots attribute such as lot size, lot shape, topography, Resource Protected Area (RPA), zoning
which is density of development allowed per acre of land, and traffic patterns were analyzed. The
report used the Fairfax County digital maps of property, resource protected area, and topography
maps. In addition, aerial photography data was used to determine the level of traffic in areas
surrounding each lot.
The comparable lot sales are similar to the subject in term of land features such as lot shape, land use,
topography, and traffic patterns. The main differences in the comparable lots are observed in terms of
lot size, RPA, and zoning (density of development allowed per acre of land).
This report originally selected twenty one vacant or lots with old buildings which were subsequently
razed and replaced with newer and larger contemporary homes. In order to conduct a meaningful
analysis, the report calculated per sq. ft. median sales price of $7.20 based on the original twenty one
vacant lot sales (appendix _A). This figure is only used for adjusting the size

Descartes First Meditation
Descartes First Meditation
Descartes believes that knowledge comes from within the mind, a single indisputable fact to build on
that can be gained through individual reflection. While seeking true knowledge, Descartes writes his
Six Meditations. In these meditations, Descartes tries to develop a strong foundation, which all
knowledge can be built upon. In the First Meditation, Descartes begins developing this foundation
through the method of doubt. He casts doubt upon all his previous beliefs, including matters which are
not entirely certain and indubitable [and] those which appear to be manifestly false. (Descartes, p.75,
par.3) Once Descartes clears away all beliefs that can be called into doubt, he can then build a strong

4) This thought experiment leads Descartes to another method in doubt. Descartes then goes on to
assume that there is a God, who is all powerful, and created this world; yet he asks, How do I know
that He has not brought it to pass that there is no earth, no heaven, no extended body, no magnitude,
no place, and that nevertheless they seem to me to exist just exactly as I know see them? (Descartes,
p.76, par.5) Without a guarantee of reality, maybe all of his previous beliefs are false. Descartes doubts
the supreme goodness of a God that would let him be deceived even occasionally. Moreover, if a
perfect God does not exist then it becomes probable that Descartes himself is increasingly imperfect
and therefore is constantly being misled. If, however, it is contrary to His goodness to have made me
such that I constantly deceive myself, it would also appear contrary to His goodness to permit me to
be sometimes deceived, and nevertheless I cannot doubt that he does permit this. (Descartes, p.76,
par.5) Descartes assumes the scenario that God is really an evil demon . I will suppose therefore that
not God, who is supremely good and the source of truth, but rather some malicious demon of the
utmost power and cunning has employed all his energies in order to deceive me. I shall think the sky,
the air, the earth, colours, shapes, sounds and all external things are merely the delusions of dreams,
which he has devised to ensnare my

Agriculture and natural resources has provided for community stability and resilience throughout the
history of Iron County. Agriculture has been a mainstay in southern Utah for centuries. Escalante kept
detailed journals of his travels in the Southwest and made notes concerning Southern Paiute
horticulture, writing in 1776, that there were well dug irrigation ditches being used to water small
fields of corn, pumpkins, squash, and sunflowers. Nearly every traveler who documented his

Agriculture continues to be a valuable source of jobs and income locally. In the County, agriculture
provides jobs, local tax base, a variety of environmental benefits, scenic beauty, and food and fiber for
human use. According to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service, the primary crops
produced in Iron County are alfalfa, wheat, barley, and corn silage. Although agriculture plays a
significant role in the economic, environmental, and cultural well being of the county, many farms are
struggling to keep up with technology and pressures from state and federal regulations. According to
the Utah Agriculture Sustainability Task Force (2012), The number and size of farms and ranches has
dramatically changed in Utah. From 1900 to 1990, the number of Utah farms decreased. Beginning in
1990 the number of farms began to increase again. The 2015 Utah Agricultural Statistics report

What Is Passion And Responsibility
Passion vs. Responsibilities
The battle between passion and responsibility has been an ongoing. It has been something that
incessantly conflicts each other, but also something that could create something amazing when a
balance is created between the two. Passion is where you have this strong and barely controlled
emotion towards something, whereas responsibility is where you have a duty to do a particular task
without fail. In comparison, passion and responsibility exhibit the relationship similarly to black and
white or to a straight line and a wiggly line. The two are big factors that play a great role in our lives
and should have equal importance or healthy relationship to both factors. Responsibility will always
be a must and firm with regards to the need of passion for us to continue on with purpose.
What is a passion?
Every person has at least experienced this great emotion of passion or is yet to experience it. It wouldn
t be called a hobby but something you would call something along the lines of being close to obsessed.
An article by Singyin Lee, a writer from Hongkiat mentions:
Passion is as far from a hobby as a hobby is to a dream . One special ingredient separates passion from
the two. In the 2004 movie, National Treasure, treasure hunter Benjamin Gates asks his sidekick,

Come to think of it, passion is a necessity for us to live. Without it, we would be unwilling to do
something at all and be subjected to a mundane life. This drive to achieve a goal enables us to
constantly reach for something and to keep going with enthusiasm. It gives us a reason to just do so

Godfather And Ragtime
The American dream is the idea that every US citizen can have equal opportunity to achieve success.
This idea usually comes alongside hard work, determination, and originality, but when have we
successful reached this milestone? When can we say we have lived the American dream? It may be
classified by the amount of money we make or the degree of happiness one has reached in their life
time, but personal experiences may tell a different tale of this ideology. Two works, The Godfather
and Ragtime, portray two different versions the American Dream. The Godfather, directed by Francis
Coppola, deals with the internal struggle of individuals within organized crime. We see representations
of wealth, weakness, unity, and death throughout the film, showing that individual experiences aren t
always so dreamlike. Ragtime, written by E.L. Doctorow, is a novel, in which individuals become
subject to the evolution of the American culture. Throughout the turn of the century, we are able to see
the battles for prosperity and happiness through the lives of many characters. We see success turn into
turmoil, struggle into triumph, and the never ending battle to pursue prosperity before one reaches
their death. In this paper, I plan to discuss the idealism of the American dream by identifying
limitations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some of the other waiting customers were reading magazines provided by the store. Eventually it was
time for a shampoo, after which the stylist proposed a slightly different cut. Susan agreed, although
she drew the line at the suggestion to lighten her hair color. She sat very still. Watching the process in

Wayside Madonna
Wayside Madonna is an oil painting on canvas by Edith Catlin Phelps. It was painted around 1939.
Painted in southern California, it is a genre painting that is part of the regionalism movement but also
has a religious subject. This painting is currently part of the permanent collection at Bowers Museum
in Santa Ana, California. Phelps s oil painting Wayside Madonna ultimately focuses on the lady in the
foreground, providing a narrative about southern California culture, and places an emphasis on the
need for a more American focus and style of painting that does not rely so heavily on European art.
The painting is organized simply. The background of the painting is painted in an Impressionist style.

However, the desert scene and mountains suggest that this was painted in Southern California. In the
background, one can see a man leading a pack animal, a woman, and an infant along a road towards
the church, identified by the cross on the rooftop. There are no shadows to define form in the
background. This is, again, a contrast to the shadows made by the Madonna in the foreground. The
lack of shadows, however, does not make the background look flat. The Impressionist styled painting
and the lack of detail in the background creates a distant look that gives depth to the painting. The
numerous contrasts between the background and the foreground allows the artist to subtly draw the
viewer?fs attention towards the foreground. These contrasts help grab the viewer?fs gaze and direct it
to the most important part of the painting: the woman and baby. Wayside Madonna has some clear
iconography. The woman dominating the foreground is a direct allusion to the Virgin Mary. Seated
and holding a sleeping male baby in her arms, a violet robe drapes over the figure. The woman wears
a simple white outfit and adoringly looks down towards the baby. This depiction is very similar to the
common depiction of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus in religious European art. An important
difference between the European religious Virgin Mary and Wayside Madonna is the skin color. The
Virgin Mary in European art is often painted as white skinned.

The Impact of Chinese Culture on Its Asian Neighbors
The impact of Chinese culture on its Asian neighbors
China is today the third largest economy of the globe, with immense prospects for growth. This
position grants the country a vast power within the global arena. Still, aside from its current economic
strength, China is notable at the level of its cultural importance. In this setting, the Chinese culture is
significant not only at its individual level, but also at the level of the influences it has manifested upon
its neighboring countries at political, historical or cultural stances (McKay, Hill, Buckler, Ebrey and
Beck, 2006).
At a general level, the cultural impacts of China on the Asian states have manifested in a positive
manner and they have been linked with the rapid and responsible evolution of the country. This in turn
has materialized in opportunities for the neighboring countries as well. A most important aspect is
revealed at the level of community building, as the community is perceived as a pivotal social
structure in China. This perception has led to the responsible growth and development of communities
in other Asian states.
In the future, the influence of China is expected to further increase, with caution needing to be
exercised at the level of the reaction of the Chinese population towards the intensifying relationships
between their country and its neighbors (Xiaoming, 2006).
A more specific impact of the Chinese culture is revealed at the level of Japan, which has adopted
several traits and has

The Function Of The Human Digestive System
The human digestive system is like a machine composed of many parts of the body that work together
to turn foods and liquids into energy that the body requires to function.
The digestive tract begins with the mouth. This is where the enzyme amylase is released to initiate the
process of digestion.
The epiglottis is a small piece of tissue that covers the opening of the larynx.
Once food passes through the epiglottis, it goes to the gallbladder, a small pouch that stores bile. The
gallbladder releases bile into the duodenum to help digest fats in the food you eat.
The first part of the small intestine is called the duodenum. The word duodenum comes from the Latin
word duodeni and means 12 each. The duodenum was thought to be as long as the width of 12 fingers.
The middle section of the small intestine is called the jejunum, which is about 5 to 8 feet (1.5 to 2.5
meters) long.
The third part of the small intestine is called the ileum. It s also the longest tube, measuring 16 to 20
feet (5 to 6 meters) long.
It is called small intestine because of its width, not its length. The small intestine is actually much
longer than the large intestine. The small and large intestines form one continuous tube.
The large intestine consists of three parts, the cecum, the colon, and the rectum. The cecum is the
pouch like beginning of the large intestine. The colon is the largest part of the large intestine and has
three parts the ascending colon, the transverse colon, and the

The Changing Attitudes Toward Athletics
The changing attitudes toward athletics began in the mid 1820 s when sport became commercialized,
publicized and organizations began to form. Harness Racing became the first modernized sport which

of organization at the local, regional and national level. Rules became formal and written and
legitimized by the organization where before, rules were based on local customs, so variations were
plentiful. Competition also changed, going from local, to national and even international. People
began to have the chance to establish themselves in sport with additional opportunities to make

During the 1870 s, four critical steps occurred to legitimize racing, and thereafter, sport: the creation

Observation Report On Coaching Observation
Intro
For the coaching observation project I observed the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Urban
Meyer. I watched him on TV when Ohio State played Penn State. The reason I selected Urban Meyer
to do my coaching observation is because he is the coach I decided to model my coaching philosophy
after. The reason I chose this game specifically is because this is a very important game and I want to
see how he handles his team in high pressure situations.
Review
1. Coaching style used or observed
A coaching style is the specific way a coach leads his team. The coaching style Urban Meyer used was
a laissez faire type coach. A laissez faire type coached is defined as a leader who makes as few
decisions as possible. During the weeks prior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His non verbal communication was just his facial expressions that his players and assistant coaches
can see. His team was losing for most of the game and you could tell he was not happy. Penn State
returned the opening kick off and he looked disappointed, but he kind of kept his composure. Later in
the 2nd quarter during another kick return that was returned pretty far by Penn State his anger was a
little more visible as he was yelling and appeared very angry. Later once Ohio State started to play
better you could see his attitude change and he got happier. I m not sure if his negative attitude made
his team play worse, it is just something to think about whenever I am a head coach.
3. Reinforcement techniques
Reinforcement techniques are used to increase or decrease a behavior. During a game, especially on
the stage that Urban Meyer is coaching, it is important for his players to play well. Some techniques
that Urban Meyer used to reinforce his players during the game I observed were negative discipline.
His special teams were struggling a lot, especially his kickoff team. They were playing so bad that he
decided to remove multiple players from it and add starters from other positions onto the kick off team
to try and have better success. This shows that if you want to play, you have to perform.
4. Motivation techniques
Motivation techniques are how a coach

The Old Guitarists In Laurie Adams A History Of Western Art
In Laurie Adams A History of Western Art there are pieces of art that have lots of meaning and
representations one in particular being Pablo Picasso s drawing titled The Old Guitarist (468). The
image chosen shows a man sitting on the ground, wearing tattered clothes and playing a guitar.
Looking closely, the man s frame appears long and bony, paired with tattered clothes. His face looks
sad and glum while his body seems to be leaning in, listening intently to his guitar as his hands go
over the strings. The major point for choosing this image is for the fact that the artist, Picasso, chose to
represent the image using only shades of blue. Idioms are words or phrases that are taken for its literal
term when instead it means something completely

Marketing: Differences Between B2B and B2C
Marketing allows organizations to promote their products or services with the intent of maximizing
their profit and gaining consumers confidence. In today s society marketing the correct
product/service can be difficult but implementing the marketing process and planning accurately can
alleviate potential obstacles. This week s paper will discuss the meaning of marketing, define business
to business (B2B), define business to consumer (B2C), and compare how marketing differs between
B2B/B2C websites.
Marketing
According to Warholic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The value of the relationship in B2B is maximized whereas B2C the value of transaction is
maximized. In B2B the target market is smaller compare to B2C, which has a large target market. The
purchasing aspect in B2B is a multi step process whereas in B2C the purchasing process is a single
step.
For example, if a consumer wanted to purchase a book for Amazon.com the only thing they would
have to do is click on the shopping cart to add the item to the cart, once that was done the purchasing
screen is displayed which allows the consumer to purchase the book. This is not true with a B2B
website because the funding for the same book has to be authorized through many channels before the
purchasing process can be completed.
According to Murphy, B2C companies employ more merchandising activities like coupons, displays,
store fronts (both real and Internet) and offers to entice the target market to buy (Murphy, 2006, para.
6).
For example, the goal of an email campaign for a B2C company is to get consumers to buy the
product immediately to make this process as short as possible, so the email navigates consumer to a
landing page on the web site that is designed to sell the product and make purchasing very easy by
integrating the shopping cart and checkout page into the flow of the transaction (para. 6).
Other differences are the sales cycle, brand identity; educational/awareness building activities (B2B)
concept, merchandising /point of purchase activities (B2C)

Antebellum Reform
In 1630, John Winthrop dreamt that America was a City on the Hill , predestined for preeminence. In
1776, the American Colonies proclaimed independence with the affirmation that all men are equal,
free, and blessed with the sacred rights to life, liberty, and happiness. These uniquely American ideals
ideals characterized the young democracy in contrast to the oppressive monarchies of Europe.
European citizens saw the correlation between America s greatness and its democratic principles. The
liberties that America furnished to all men, regardless of status, gave citizens pride in their nation and
drew envy from constituents of tyrannical monarchies. The notions of equality and freedom, however,
did not extend to all of America s population; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, other movements such as Temperance and Educational reform piggybacked on the wave
of interest for reformation, and in general all of these movements endeavored to mold the U.S. into a
more virtuous nation. No prominent reform was completed in the antebellum era, so in reality,
democratic ideals only expanded democratic sentiment. Due to the social upheaval in favor of
improving the egalitarian image of the U.S., Antebellum reforms introduced the notions of universal
liberty, but failed to follow through with meaningful change until later in American history.
Antebellum era reformists ostensibly promoted the tangible democratic ideals of liberty and suffrage
to the oppressed elements of society, but did not deliver any legislated reform. Abolitionists still did
not care about slaves so much as they did about the institution of slavery. Abolitionists such as
William Lloyd Garrison even outwardly complained in the Declaration of the National Anti Slavery
Convention in 1833, that slaves did not enjoy any ...constitutional nor legal protection... for the crime
of having a dark complexion... (Doc 1). Yet, Garrison, despite being keenly aware of the
inappropriateness of Slavery, disliked Slavery primarily because he believed tarnished the reputation
of the North. Other

decision responsibility from within an organization to outside providers, in order to reduce the costs of

Cultural Enlightenment And The Republic Of The Philippines
Friendly Status? Cultural enlightenment of The Republic of The Philippines.
SSG Michael Morrissey
13F40 SLC 507 17 Friendly Status? Cultural enlightenment of The Republic of The Philippines.
For hundreds of years the Republic of The Philippines has had a long and prosperous history. For one
to truly analyze the culture of the Philippines, one would have to look at the components of what
makes their culture. The Philippines has a rich and illustrious culture which involves language,
integration of Spanish and American influences, religion, cuisine, and a booming economy. Although
the Republic of the Philippines has only had nation status since 1946, the small island nation has been
a great military strategic stronghold for not only the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is estimated that about 80 percent of Filipinos are Christian, most of which are Catholic, and about
11 percent being Islamic, and the rest of the 9 percent practice another kind of religion (Williams,
2015). The predominate religion in the Philippines is Roman Catholic due to the occupation of the
Spanish for roughly three decades. It is estimated that approximately 85 percent of Filipinos who are
Christians are Roman Catholic. (Balinski, 2015). This staggering static makes the Philippines the only
Christian nation in Asia (Balinski, 2015). Although the United States established freedom of religion
in the Philippines when it acquired it, many of the citizens chose to continue to practice Catholicism.
Many state holidays cater to the catholic belief, such as All Saints Day, Christmas, Easter, etc. Despite
the fact that many things revolve around the Roman Catholic religion, many other groups of religions
seem to blend into the culture and life in this Asian Pacific Island nation.
The Republic of the Philippines has a blend of different languages. Starting of course with English and
Spanish being the official languages, due to the occupation by both America and Spain. Apart from
those two languages, there are approximately 175 different languages spoken in the Philippines
(Williams, 2015). Over one million people still use one of thirteen indigenous languages spoken in the
Philippines which are

  • 2. The Shock Is A Life Threatening Condition Of Circulatory... Shock is a life threatening condition of circulatory failure that most commonly presents with hypotension. The effects of shock are initially reversible but can rapidly become irreversible, resulting in multi organ failure (MOF) and death. when a patient present with undifferentiated hypotension, it is important that the clinician rapidly identify the aetiology so that appropriate therapy can be administered to prevent MOF and death (Vincent, 2013). Assessment of hemodynamic status in a shock state remains a challenging issue in Emergency Medicine. Early recognition and appropriate treatment of shock have been shown to decrease mortality (Moore and Copel, 2011; Volpicelli, 2011). In case of medical emergencies there may not be enough time to perform detailed diagnostic procedures and eliminating any imminently life threatening conditions from the possibilities is always challenging in a busy ED. Shock is defined as circulatory insufficiency that leads to under perfusion of organs in the body, which can result in multi organ failure. Undifferentiated shock refers to the situation where shock is recognized, but the cause is unclear. In general shock can be classified into 4 subtypes (Tintinalli, 2010): Hypovolemic shock this happens as a result of severe blood or fluid loss as can be seen in haemorrhage, rupture of aortic aneurysm, severe diarrhoea, vomiting. Distributive shock this type of shock happens when the core intravascular volume is insufficient to maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Avram In The Odyssey In this parsha we meet our first forefather Avraham, who is commanded by Hashem to leave his land, his birthplace and fathers house to go to a land he will inherit. This happens about 2000 years before the common era, and Hashem promises to make him into a great nation and bless him throughout the world. Avraham becomes a man with a historic mission, to become the father of a new nation which would through its suffering and pain, profoundly influence our civilization. Who was this man Avraham, whom Hashem chose to enter into an everlasting covenant? Avraham was the son of a pagan, and grew up in an environment of evil. But he rose above this environment and created a way of life and religion we call our heritage. He chose to be different to become the first Hebrew, (which means literally from the other side ), he spoke with moral standards of his time, and pursued his quest for a better and more meaningful way. The movie Shrek, an ogre and beautiful princess fall in love, though this beautiful princess has a secret; her secret is that by day a beautiful princess, and by night an ugly ogre, at least in her eyes. Shrek thought she was beautiful as a human and as an ogre; this hidden message is shown as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also in the movie, another implied message is that people are prejudice to stereotypes. Though, once you truly know some one, it can be really wonderful and life changing. Friendship is one of the most important things in life. This is also shown in Shrek between Donkey, Shrek, and Fiona. Shrek and Donkey don t seem to get along at the beginning of the movie when rescuing Princess Fiona from the dragons keep. After Shrek and Donkey save Princess Fiona, Shrek overhears Princess Fiona and Donkey talking about her curse and how Princess Fiona thought she was ugly as an ogre and Shrek wouldn t love her if she was an Ogre. Near the end of the movie, Shrek, Donkey, and Princess Fiona all end up going their separate ways; Shrek ends up going back to his swamp, Donkey has nowhere so he ends up just walking around the forest, and Princess Fiona ends up going off to Duloc to marry Lord Farquaad. Before Princess Fiona and Lord Farquaad are married, Donkey tells Shrek that they are friends and that Shrek should treat him more like one. In the end, Shrek and Fiona end up happily together because of Donkey. Though this fairy tale isn t like the average fairy tale, it still has implied and hidden messages. Shrek displays many of ... • 6. Endothtermic And Exothermic Reaction Lab Report Introduction: Chemical reactions make new things by rearranging other things. In a chemical reaction, the main change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed. It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when bonds are formed. Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture. Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture. Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in which the chemical energy changes. In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance into the water and dissolving it. The results recorded in the table below show that our hypothesis is correct. Aim: To investigate temperature changes that occur as a result of exothermic and endothermic reactions. Hypothesis: It s predicted that when adding the chemical substance into the water, energy will be released or absorbed, this will be observed by a temperature change, therefore, there would be an exothermic or endothermic reaction. The various aspects of academic literacy are rather obvious in relation to emancipation, especially when one is confronted with exclusion from membership in the dominant culture. • 9. Is Children’s Development a Universal Staged Process or a... Is Children s development a universal staged process or a social and cultural process? There are three main approaches to child development, the scientific, the social constructionist and the applied approach. Each of these approaches look at children s development from a different stand point. I will go on to explore each approach in turn and how they can help us answer the above question. The scientific approach to child development seeks to explain the facts about child development. It does this by devising theories which are then tested through observations and experiments. A classic example of this is Jean Piaget (1896 1890) who was one of the most influential theorists in child development. Piaget built up a theory about how ... These have also been different throughout history. For example in Victorian Britain, children were expected to work in the home, field, streets or in factories. However in modern Britain we expect our children to spend much of their childhood learning at school. Another example is, Maya s (U212 Video 1, band 1) experiences of childhood in the poor area Chittagong being different to the twins Yasir and Yamin s experiences in middle class Chittagong. Each have different expectations of their roles within society according to their social boundaries, gender, family and beliefs. Central to the social constructionist approach is the concept of competing discourses of childhood. A discourse is a particular way of thinking or a particular view point that is influenced by our gender, language, history, beliefs, experiences and social boundaries. There are numerous discourses but a romantic discourse sees children as inherently good; a child would only do terrible things if damaged in some way. Contrary to this is the puritanical discourse which sees the child as inherently evil, doing evil things because they are wicked and need punishing. • 15. Nature In Dialectic Of Enlightenment In Dialectic of Enlightenment, through their discussion of nature s initial domination over man in primitive society, by virtue of mankind s fear of the unknown and mana, and man s eventual domination over nature through rationality and disillusionment, Frankfurt School philosophers Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer conclude that there exists a paradox in which myths already contain enlightenment just as enlightenment also already contains myths (11 12). Various examples, such as the creation of myths, which contained enlightenment and rationality, the prohibition surrounding the utterance of God s name, which still retained elements of mythology in an enlightened world, and the blind reproduction of thought, which relapsed an enlightened world back into mythology, support their argument. Mana, the moving spirit, which was neither a subject nor an object, represented the intricacy and complexity of nature compared to the primitive man. In the course of human history, even in its earliest forms, human society has always reified observations in nature and inscribed them with distinct meanings and stories. This pre animism emerged as a response to the cruel volatility of nature, where man feared the unknown, and began the first lines of separation of subject and object (Adorno and Horkheimer, 15). The gasp of surprise or cry of terror which accompanied the experience of the unusual and unfamiliar became synonymous to its name, contradictorily creating both a subjective ... The purpose of this report is to demonstrate an understanding of some of the dynamics and influences at play within Cadburys. The author will also look to demonstrate how motivation and leadership impacts in the workplace. Another element of the discussion will be about the concepts Cadburys used in order to accomplish their organisational goals. In conclusion, the author will give their personal opinion on whether they believe motivation and leadership had an impact on Cadburys in the historical era. In 1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer s shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham. The Cadbury business was born in 1831, when John Cadbury decided to begin producing on a commercial scale and bought a four storey warehouse. Cadburys was built upon Quaker beliefs. In a Quaker community, a struggling business was a liability, falling into debt was seen as a form of theft and was punished severely (Cadbury, 2011). There are sufficient sales of vacant lots within 3 miles of the subject property. Seven suitable vacant lot sales were selected and analyzed to estimate indicated subject s lot value (table_ 1). The analysis uses a per sq. ft. unit in valuing the site. The vacant lots were sold March to October of 2013. Lots attribute such as lot size, lot shape, topography, Resource Protected Area (RPA), zoning which is density of development allowed per acre of land, and traffic patterns were analyzed. The report used the Fairfax County digital maps of property, resource protected area, and topography maps. In addition, aerial photography data was used to determine the level of traffic in areas surrounding each lot. The comparable lot sales are similar to the subject in term of land features such as lot shape, land use, topography, and traffic patterns. The main differences in the comparable lots are observed in terms of lot size, RPA, and zoning (density of development allowed per acre of land). This report originally selected twenty one vacant or lots with old buildings which were subsequently razed and replaced with newer and larger contemporary homes. • 21. Descartes First Meditation Descartes First Meditation Descartes believes that knowledge comes from within the mind, a single indisputable fact to build on that can be gained through individual reflection. While seeking true knowledge, Descartes writes his Six Meditations. In these meditations, Descartes tries to develop a strong foundation, which all knowledge can be built upon. In the First Meditation, Descartes begins developing this foundation through the method of doubt. He casts doubt upon all his previous beliefs, including matters which are not entirely certain and indubitable [and] those which appear to be manifestly false. (Descartes, p.75, par.3) Once Descartes clears away all beliefs that can be called into doubt, he can then build a strong ... Descartes then goes on to assume that there is a God, who is all powerful, and created this world; yet he asks, How do I know that He has not brought it to pass that there is no earth, no heaven, no extended body, no magnitude, no place, and that nevertheless they seem to me to exist just exactly as I know see them? (Descartes, p.76, par.5) Without a guarantee of reality, maybe all of his previous beliefs are false. Descartes doubts the supreme goodness of a God that would let him be deceived even occasionally. Moreover, if a perfect God does not exist then it becomes probable that Descartes himself is increasingly imperfect and therefore is constantly being misled. If, however, it is contrary to His goodness to have made me such that I constantly deceive myself, it would also appear contrary to His goodness to permit me to be sometimes deceived, and nevertheless I cannot doubt that he does permit this. (Descartes, p.76, par.5) Descartes assumes the scenario that God is really an evil demon . I will suppose therefore that not God, who is supremely good and the source of truth, but rather some malicious demon of the utmost power and cunning has employed all his energies in order to deceive me. I shall think the sky, the air, the earth, colours, shapes, sounds and all external things are merely the delusions of dreams, which he has devised to ensnare my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first thing to check is what I shall call the conceptual needs. I mean that the conceptualization should not be founded on a theory of the object the conceptualized object is not the single criterion of a good conceptualization. We have to know the historical conditions which motivate our conceptualization. We need a historical awareness of our present circumstance. It has been something that incessantly conflicts each other, but also something that could create something amazing when a balance is created between the two. However, the desert scene and mountains suggest that this was painted in Southern California. In the background, one can see a man leading a pack animal, a woman, and an infant along a road towards the church, identified by the cross on the rooftop. There are no shadows to define form in the background. This is, again, a contrast to the shadows made by the Madonna in the foreground. The lack of shadows, however, does not make the background look flat. The Impressionist styled painting and the lack of detail in the background creates a distant look that gives depth to the painting. The numerous contrasts between the background and the foreground allows the artist to subtly draw the viewer?fs attention towards the foreground. These contrasts help grab the viewer?fs gaze and direct it to the most important part of the painting: the woman and baby. Wayside Madonna has some clear iconography. The woman dominating the foreground is a direct allusion to the Virgin Mary. Seated and holding a sleeping male baby in her arms, a violet robe drapes over the figure. The woman wears a simple white outfit and adoringly looks down towards the baby. This depiction is very similar to the common depiction of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus in religious European art. An important difference between the European religious Virgin Mary and Wayside Madonna is the skin color. The Virgin Mary in European art is often painted as white skinned. ... The Impact of Chinese Culture on Its Asian Neighbors The impact of Chinese culture on its Asian neighbors China is today the third largest economy of the globe, with immense prospects for growth. This position grants the country a vast power within the global arena. Still, aside from its current economic strength, China is notable at the level of its cultural importance. In this setting, the Chinese culture is significant not only at its individual level, but also at the level of the influences it has manifested upon its neighboring countries at political, historical or cultural stances (McKay, Hill, Buckler, Ebrey and Beck, 2006). At a general level, the cultural impacts of China on the Asian states have manifested in a positive manner and they have been linked with the rapid and responsible evolution of the country. This in turn has materialized in opportunities for the neighboring countries as well. A most important aspect is revealed at the level of community building, as the community is perceived as a pivotal social structure in China. This perception has led to the responsible growth and development of communities in other Asian states. In the future, the influence of China is expected to further increase, with caution needing to be exercised at the level of the reaction of the Chinese population towards the intensifying relationships between their country and its neighbors (Xiaoming, 2006). The Function Of The Human Digestive System The human digestive system is like a machine composed of many parts of the body that work together to turn foods and liquids into energy that the body requires to function. The digestive tract begins with the mouth. This is where the enzyme amylase is released to initiate the process of digestion. The epiglottis is a small piece of tissue that covers the opening of the larynx. Once food passes through the epiglottis, it goes to the gallbladder, a small pouch that stores bile. The gallbladder releases bile into the duodenum to help digest fats in the food you eat. The first part of the small intestine is called the duodenum. The word duodenum comes from the Latin word duodeni and means 12 each. The duodenum was thought to be as long as the width of 12 fingers. The middle section of the small intestine is called the jejunum, which is about 5 to 8 feet (1.5 to 2.5 meters) long. The third part of the small intestine is called the ileum. It s also the longest tube, measuring 16 to 20 feet (5 to 6 meters) long. It is called small intestine because of its width, not its length. The small intestine is actually much longer than the large intestine. The small and large intestines form one continuous tube. Difference Between B2B and B2C Marketing: Differences Between B2B and B2C Linicha Hunter University of Phoenix EBUS 400 E Business Dr. Hee Lee September 27, 2006 Marketing: Differences Between B2B and B2C Marketing allows organizations to promote their products or services with the intent of maximizing their profit and gaining consumers confidence. In today s society marketing the correct product/service can be difficult but implementing the marketing process and planning accurately can alleviate potential obstacles. This week s paper will discuss the meaning of marketing, define business to business (B2B), define business to consumer (B2C), and compare how marketing differs between B2B/B2C websites. Marketing According to Warholic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The value of the relationship in B2B is maximized whereas B2C the value of transaction is maximized. In B2B the target market is smaller compare to B2C, which has a large target market. The purchasing aspect in B2B is a multi step process whereas in B2C the purchasing process is a single step. For example, if a consumer wanted to purchase a book for Amazon.com the only thing they would have to do is click on the shopping cart to add the item to the cart, once that was done the purchasing screen is displayed which allows the consumer to purchase the book. This is not true with a B2B website because the funding for the same book has to be authorized through many channels before the purchasing process can be completed. According to Murphy, B2C companies employ more merchandising activities like coupons, displays, store fronts (both real and Internet) and offers to entice the target market to buy (Murphy, 2006, para. 6). For example, the goal of an email campaign for a B2C company is to get consumers to buy the product immediately to make this process as short as possible, so the email navigates consumer to a landing page on the web site that is designed to sell the product and make purchasing very easy by integrating the shopping cart and checkout page into the flow of the transaction (para. 6). Other differences are the sales cycle, brand identity; educational/awareness building activities (B2B) concept, merchandising /point of purchase activities (B2C)

These uniquely American ideals ideals characterized the young democracy in contrast to the oppressive monarchies of Europe. European citizens saw the correlation between America s greatness and its democratic principles. Due to the social upheaval in favor of improving the egalitarian image of the U.S., Antebellum reforms introduced the notions of universal liberty, but failed to follow through with meaningful change until later in American history. Antebellum era reformists ostensibly promoted the tangible democratic ideals of liberty and suffrage to the oppressed elements of society, but did not deliver any legislated reform.
