(Indian Leprosy Association) is an
old and
prestigious body of people
committed towards treatment,
rehabilitation of leprosy
patients.

3. • Leprosy /ˈlɛprəsi/, also known as
Hansen's disease (HD), is a
chronic infection
caused by the bacteria
Mycobacterium leprae and
Mycobacterium lepromatosis.

in 1950 with

10. • Its precursor was the Indian
Council of the British Empire
Leprosy Relief association
B.E.R.L.A) which was renamed as
LEPRA in 1950.

11. • The association renders financial
assistance to various leprosy
homes and clinics.

12. • The association also focuses on
health education, publications 7
posters, training of medical
workers & physiotherapists (in
research, field activities)

13. • The association is vested with
the responsibility of organizing
ALL INDIA LEPROSY WORKERS
conferences and publication of
“Leprosy in India” a quarterly
journal.

14. • The sangh has branches all over
India & works in close
cooperation with the
government and other voluntary
agencies.
