Pinning Down A Definition Defining Social Media Collaborative process through which information (news, photos, videos, links, podcasts) is created, shared and/or altered via social networking websites. How does the digital native define social media? To them, it’s ingrained in communications—no different than email or texting.
Social Media Sites (as we move away from the desktop, these services become platform independent. Connect anywhere, anytime using BlackBerries, iPhones, tablets, etc.)
HIMSS: Why Enter Social Media? Started three communities in 2008 to complement existing member outreach tools, and grow industry awareness. Has evolved to a fully integrated component of communications, PR, marketing, outreach and customer service.
Social media use is not about technology.
Social media use is about people and real relationships.

Pinning Down A Definition Defining Social Media Collaborative process through which information (news, photos, videos, links, podcasts) is created, shared and/or altered via social networking websites. How does the digital native define social media? To them, it’s ingrained in communications—no different than email or texting.
  • 3. Social Media Sites (as we move away from the desktop, these services become platform independent. Connect anywhere, anytime using BlackBerries, iPhones, tablets, etc.)
  • 4. HIMSS: Why Enter Social Media? Started three communities in 2008 to complement existing member outreach tools, and grow industry awareness. Has evolved to a fully integrated component of communications, PR, marketing, outreach and customer service.
