The Importance Of The Sinaloa Cartel In Mexico
As a child when my mother would travel to Mexico there was always minimal extortion, mordidas
from the judiciales when crossing the boarders. The country seemed relatively safe at the time. The
mordidas was a common incident for people who would travel from the United States to their home
towns. My mother said that it was uncommon to hear about drugs, massacre, and executions.
Nowadays, this is the new norm in Mexico .
In general there is an overwhelming negative feeling towards the government. In their article, Crime
and Drug Cartels Top Concerns in Mexico , Pew Research, a world survey report website, stated that,
45% of Mexicans say their government is making progress, while 29% say the government is losing
ground, and 25% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

setbacks, the Gulf still manages the smuggling routes along the US Mexico border into Texas . This

The Importance Of Food Waste
Through the innovation of technology, mankind has been able to create great, and extraordinary feats
of nature. Taking the smallest indesirable object, then constructing it into a skyscraper or the smallest
most powerful computer. Also through the process of innovation we humans have almost completely
mastered the art of mass manufacturing products making our daily needs and wants readily available
to us. The food industry is a one of many examples of this mass manufacturing evolution, going from
food being made over camp fires to being made in huge factory pumping out fathoming quantities of
product. With this evolution comes the downfall of waste. Food waste is not always avoidable but in
some cases the waste is necessary as some things are not safe for consumption after undergoing
certain processes. But no matter the waste product some form of use should be found for the
seemingly invaluable waste product or a way to reduce unnecessary food waste. Food waste is a huge
problem most americans are completely oblivious too. According to a United states department of
Agriculture report, 133 billion pounds of food went unused in 2010. While animal products like meat
and dairy being towards the top of the list, added up to $105 billion of wasted food.( Waste Not, Want
not 26) While worldwide about one third of all food produced is either lost or gone to waste which
adds up to about 1.3 Billion tons of waste. To put into a better prospective 1.3 billion tons is

The Entrepreneurial Root Of A Venture Like Makerbot Or Tesla
Assignment 1 Makerbot case study MSCI 602 Spring 2015 Nissrine Nadmi to Mina Allarkhia
Question 1 The entrepreneurial root of a venture like MakerBot or Tesla is pivotal in innovative
strategies required by any venture to enter a new market, become viable and eventually leading the
market. To break into a new market, it is inevitable that entrepreneurs would be faced with extreme
competition from other minor and major market players and other unknown threats. To prepare for
these eventualities, it is essentially that the entrepreneurs should have in depth knowledge of the
existing market, the customerbase within the market, understand the customers needs and how best to
satisfy these needs. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was their collective deep passion that gave birth to MakerBot. They all have common root and
entrepreneurial ancestry in computer networking, hacking and virtual computing which is a major
competitive advantage over others within the industry. With this business portfolio, the founders of
MakerBot already familiar with the business terrain of the industry and also knew well in advance the
challenges that lay ahead for them. It therefore becomes easier to tackle make correct decision on
effective strategies. Highlight key examples. In essence, MakerBot has significant economies of scale
over other companies within the industry as a result of its competitive advantage which was due to the
entrepreneurial root of the company so it had capacity to enter a new market or technological arena as
a result of the prior knowledge of the founders with the industry. As a way of illustration, MakerBot
was established in 2009 with a vision to empower hundreds of thousands of customers to use open
source platform to power 3D printing and by 2012, more than 10,000 units of the company s products
had been shipped. While supplying units as much as 10,000 is enough compelling reason to believe
that MakerBot has the capacity to enter a new market or break even in a new technological frontier,

The Sports Supplement Industry Is Rapidly Growing And...
The Sports Supplement industry is rapidly growing and making an enormous profit off of their
products when most of them don t even work anyway. Forbes has stated that the supplement industry
took in $32 billion dollars in 2012. The Nutritional Business Journal projects that the number will
jump to $60 billion dollars by the year 2021. The reason I want to share this is because you can save
so much money by not buying supplements or if you do then just purchase the ones that have actual
scientific proof to benefit you. I like many people have been a victim of the supplement industry. I
was baited in just like everyone else with the guaranteed lean muscle gains or rapid fat burn . The
outrageous claims are everywhere! If you go through a muscle magazine, every page is an
advertisement telling you that to get big and ripped, you must purchase this hot new supplement. They
re all lies! Luckily for me, I did not spend years and years of buying supplements and wasting my
money. After about a year of buying supplements that I thought would work, I started to become
educated on the topic and haven t wasted money on supplements since. Once you find out the truth
about supplements you will never waste your money and time on useless products again. Let s start off
with the supplements that actually do work and are worth purchasing if you have the money and desire
for sports supplements. Protein powder and creatine. That s it. It s a short list and makes you question

RESIDENCY GRADUATION SPEECH
President and CEO, Members of Boards of Trustees, Hospital administration Officers, DIO, Program
Directors, Faculty, staff, family, friends, colleagues, and fellow graduating residents:
Welcome to the residency graduation ceremony for the class of 2017. I am greatly honored to be given
the opportunity to address my graduating class.
As individuals and as a group, we have worked hard, we toiled, we endured, and we have come out
better, with more passion and more confidence than when we began. We have survived all the
different rotations, shifts, and calls, the sleepless nights and the chaos and adrenaline of the emergency
room duty and the rigorous training examinations. I believe we are all proud to have made it to this
day. In all sincerity, today represents a landmark achievement for each of us and our families. It is to
our loved ones and all those who encouraged us through this long journey from preschool through
residency that we owe our deepest thanks. The encouragement from family, friends, colleagues,
faculty, staff and strangers have played a vital role in our success.
Yes, talking about strangers, this reminds of a 17 year old young man who encouraged me at the

The purpose of this career is to focus on the study of human movement from eight different aspects;
developmental, historical, mechanical, motor control, pathological, physiological, psychological, and
psychosocial. Within this career one must know every single thing about the human body. There are
several factors that this career highlights such as, exercise physiology, sport nutrition, sports
psychology, motor behavior, biomechanics, and athletic training and sports medicine. In this career a
person enjoys working out, love playing sports, and wants to maintain a healthy body. There are
numerous of job titles that fall under this career. The most common job positions under an exercise
and sports science career are athletic trainers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, exercise
physiologists, physical education teachers, strength and conditioning coaches, personal trainers,
medical physicians, and sports nutritionists. Although there are many different job titles to choose
from, this career has a lot of competition. The job titles within this career has its differences and
similarities.
A physical therapist and an occupational therapist are two job titles that people feel are the same but
they are not. Physical therapists focus more on evaluating and diagnosing movement dysfunctions,
whereas occupational therapists focus on evaluating and improving a person s functional abilities.
However, they both involve educating people on how to prevent and avoid injuries

Hypnosis And Pain Case Study
Introduction
When considering hypnosis and pain, it becomes important to first provide working definitions of the
concepts. Since both hypnosis and pain really heavily on patient assessments and self evaluations, it
becomes essential that all ensuing research is discussed on common ground.
First let us consider hypnosis. The Oxford Handbook of Hypnosis: Theory, Research and Practice
mentions two elements that should be considered when defining hypnosis: hypnosis as procedure and
hypnosis as product. The first element of this definition hypnosis as procedure involves two necessary
components: an introduction and the first suggestion. As described by the book, the introduction
includes informing the subject that hypnosis involves potential imaginative experiences.
Case Studies One such example involves Harold Wain, the director of the Psychiatric Liaison Service
at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The case focused on a woman with a ... Show more content

He noted that hypnosis alone, as in the relaxation effect produced by the hypnotic induction, did little
in terms of pain reduction. This indicates that the key to pain reduction through the use of hypnosis
revolves around the suggestions given during hypnosis rather than the process itself. Hilgard also
demonstrated that the mind is capable of hallucinating pain, although it was less severe than the pain
caused by the normal nonhypnotic state. As this also produced consistent results, it can be generalized
that verbal reports can provide significant results in experiments involving pain for waking, hypnotic,
and induced hallucination states. During these experiments, Hilgard also examined the changes of
heart rate and blood pressure during the trials. Unfortunately, he was unable to determine significant
differences between the varying states. This shows that physiological indicators of pain shouldn t be
used to determine the varying levels of subjects

Lithium Research Paper
Lithium is the third element on the periodic table and is known as the lightest metal, and is half as
dense as water. It is a part of the Alkali metals, meaning it is in the first group on the periodic table.
Lithium is normally not found in nature, due to the fact that it has a very unstable nucleus. The name
Lithium is derived from the Greek word lithos, which means stone . This name was likely given to
Lithium due to the fact that it was discovered in the mineral petalite (LiAl(Si2O5)2) by Johann August
Arfvedson in 1817. It was later isolated through the form of electrolysis of lithium oxide by William
Thomas Brande. Lithium is made of two stable isotopes, with Lithium 6 containing 3 neutrons and
accounting 7.59% of the natural abundance of lithium, and Lithium 7 containing 4 neutrons and
accounting for 92.41% of lithium s natural abundance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One typically thinks of batteries when they think of lithium, as they are heavily involved in the
process of making rechargeable, storage, and dry batteries. Lithium alloys can also be formed when
combined with elements such as copper, aluminium, cadmium, and manganese in order to help create
light parts for aircraft. It is also added to glass in order to make it lighter and stronger as well. Lithium
is also used in the treatment of bipolar disorder, and because of this, has become the inspiration for
two songs, both named Lithium, by the bands Nirvana and Evanescence. When mixed with hydroxide,
Lithium hydroxide is used to absorb the carbon dioxide found in space vehicles. Because it produces a
bright red flame when burned, Lithium is also added to fireworks in order to produce a red spark.
Unfortunately, lithium is also a key ingredient in the production of

Medical Records And Electronic Records
This case study has presented multiple issues concerning converting paper medical record to
electronic medical records. The first concerns are the inefficiencies of the paper medical records and
the steps needed to convert the current records to digital records. A second concern was that the
medical staff would have to change their work habits to adjust to using the electronic medical records
and the training that would be needed to implement the electronic record software. Another concern
would be the various formats of software programs and the ability to complement each other. The final
concern was the security of the electronic records, misuse of the information or problems accessing
the information due to unforeseen circumstances. As the case stated paper records are cumbersome,
bulky and difficult to access. As you read through the case it does make one think about how your
own medical records are maintained within the doctor s office. As with my own medical records there
was a time that the doctor was looking back through the actual sheets of paper in my file looking for
information how he treated a certain medical issue that I had experience years prior, because the same
issue reappeared again. It took an extensive amount of my appointment time to search through only a
few years of my medical records to find the notes on that exact appointment. How easy would it have
been to be able to open the laptop, pull up my medical records and enter a few words in a

A Sunrise On The Veld Poem Analysis
How Two Completely Different Stories Can Have So Many Similarities
The short stories, A Sunrise on the Veld and At the Pitt Rivers , have nothing in common if you
analyze them on a shallow literature level. A Sunrise on the Veld by Doris Lessing, highlights some of
the reasons why life is so valuable. Lessing hints her readers that this short story is set somewhere in
the desert by, ... the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with
cold... He slung the shoes over his shoulder... they would be necessary when the ground became too
hot to bear, (Lessing, pg. 1212). Most deserts get heated by the sun by day, but loses the heat at night.
The boy starts hunting, at first, but then is distracted by a wounded buck. Seeing this buck suffer,
depicts him especially sad. A boy is also the protagonist in At the Pitt Rivers by Penelope Lively. This
boy spends his time in a museum, observing people and writing poems as the time passes. He keeps
track of a couple he sees at the museum. The couple catches his attention because they are not his
ideal of what a couple should look like. If a kindergartener read these two short stories, he/she would
find nothing in common with the stories. But, if the reader has the ability to analyze the text in more
depth, he/she would find that they are more similar than the kindergartener would think.
As an advanced reader, a comparison that is prevalent in both stories is, society s thinking of the ideal

valuable information regarding roles in different institutions. The study was conducted for the sole
purpose of generating results that were expected such as significantly different reactions on behavioral

How Anglo American s Stakeholders Influence Carroll s...
Anglo American hired Cynthia Carroll as chief executive officer in hopes that she would improve the
overall performance of the company. Failing to meet their expectations would almost guarantee her
time at the company would be short lived. As CEO she must juggle the interests of her stakeholders
and make decisions that benefit the company. It can prove to be a difficult task as certain stakeholders
hold more power and have more influence when it comes to making these decisions. In this paper I
will be using stakeholder theory to discuss how Anglo American s stakeholders influence Carroll s
decision. Carroll is well aware of the dangers her employees face, however she must decide whether it
is in her best interest to increase safety or not. While increasing safety measures may make the
company look better, it will come at great costs. Although Cynthia Carroll is facing some opposition
from it s the South African government and its employees, when taking in the interests of all the
company s stakeholders it is clear that she must keep the mines up and running without taking more
safety precautions. Maintaining a good relationship between business and government is important to
the success every company. In this case, the South African government is important to think about
because they alter how Anglo American deals with its employees, however they do not have enough
power to sway the decision in their favor. The role of government is to Promote economic

Ability grouping is where students are put into classes, groups, etc. by their academic ability. Meaning
students with higher grades get put into classes with other students with similar grades. Or students
with struggling or failing grades get put in classes with other students. Personal I am all for ability
based grouping, because it lets students get help, challenge themselves, and help their academics.
Allowing students with struggling grades to get help all at once, ask questions and seek the help they
might need. On the other hand allowing students that have higher academic skill level to challenge
themselves with harder work and harder challenge. Some of the advantages of ability based grouping
is that it once again, allows students

Bay City Fire Department Case Study
The situation that is happening with the Bay City Fire Department is very disturbing because they are
supposed to be one of the few pillars in the community for people to trust to get their job done, and I
believe they have a very important role to fulfill but they are slacking majorly. A few speculations on
why they are violating standard operational procedures because that is how the older firefighters did it
in the past. Since many of the firefighters in charge are much older than the recruits they have ways of
doing tasks differently than the new regulations that were put in place over the years. Another
speculation that could be made is that there may not be much commotion in the community and
whoever gets to the fire the quickest or to the accident the fastest will get the recognition and the
excitement of completing a task. Thirdly, the mild form of hazing that the veterans put the recruits
through contributes to why they are not progressing and why many of them are dying in fires. They
are taught by the older ones that they have to look and follow specific duties in order to become a real
firefighter. The last reason they might be having so many accidents is that the older regulations that
the captains are following and the new regulations that recruits are following are clashing literally
with the truck crashes and figuratively with ideologies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

written language. Examine this statement with reference to a range of artists and artworks. Even
before a young child can read or write they learn the alphabet as the beginning of interpreting the

Whiteley s works parallels Van Gogh s in its deliberate use of symbols in his paintings and while
Whiteley observed many of the principles of Symbolism, his had its own unique facility of Surrealist

Van Gogh s The Night Café (1888) [refer Appendix 1] and distorted the image and took the lines of
the room to a vanishing point, idealising Whiteley s Surrealist style. Whiteley s use of symbolism in
his works is outstandingly illustrated in Whiteley s Archibald Prize winning self portrait Art, Life and

Chem 112 Technical Abstract
Determination of Cations and Anions through Elimination and Confirmation Tests By: Symantha
Resendiz Introduction A topic of great importance to all scientists is the identification of compounds,
which is relevant in all aspects of their work in some way shape or form. Weather it may be
determining what is causing sickness or what is polluting the air, it is very prevalent in the science
world. In project 2, identification of cations and anions was preformed through a series of
confirmation and elimination tests that ultimately led to identifying an unknown ionic compound
made of cations and anions. Materials and Methods Part 1 Cation Tests To begin, 5 centrifuge tubes
were added 10 drops of one cation and labeled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mixture was then transferred to a clean centrifuge tube via pipet, carefully not wetting the upper
walls of the tube. Zinc granules were then added and the tube was immediately plugged with cotton
1/3 of the way into the tube. The tube was then warmed in a hot water bath for about 5 minutes, the
folded red litmus paper was inserted at the top of the tube with a wet crease. After a few minutes,
nitrate is indicated on the wet crease of the litmus paper, turning it blue. For the Carbonate test, 25 mg
of carbonate sample was added to a centrifuge tube and 3 drops of 6 M H2SO4 was added. A
disposable pipet was used to transfer a drop of Ba(OH)2, that hung directly from the pipet over the
carbonate solution, and the observations of the drop were recorded. Part 3 Cation and Anion Analysis
For the cation analysis, 0.566 g of an unknown compound was dissolved completely in 5mL of
distilled water in a centrifuge tube, thus confirming this solution as a stock solution. A flame test was
performed on the stock solution to give a general idea of what test was to e preformed on the stock
solution deriving the information from our logic trees in part 1. The logic tree from part 1 and the
flame test confirmed that we needed to conduct an ammonia test on the stock solution. To being the
ammonia test, 15 M NH4OH was added drop wise (about 20 drops) to the stock and the color of the
solution and the color of the solution was recorded. 10 more drops of 15 M NH4OH

Lydia Bennet
The Regency Era in England was an interesting period of time, ruled by elegance and etiquette with
definitive social classes. Women and men both wanted to marry rich, and this left some young women
hungry for a wealthy husband, or just a husband at all. This type of girl is characterized in the novel
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, through the character of Lydia Bennet. She is the fifth Bennet
daughter, automatically acquiring the title of the youngest Bennet daughter. Her behavior is not
tentative when it comes to interacting with men, and she is very naive to the emotions of others.

of young women in their tenacious control over their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

speaks with confidence when she says that her sisters should be jealous of her marriage, and she
wishes they have half [her] good luck in finding a husband (269). This statement is extremely ironic,
because Lydia s large ego inhibits her ability to see Wickham s true character. She does not know how
boorishly he acted towards Mr. Darcy, how much money he lost gambling, or how hated he is in his
home town. Lydia cannot make a clear minded decision and evaluate how her elopement will affect
family, let alone her own life. Pride also gets in the way, and her childish mindset only see how
eloping with Wickham will result in her being the first Bennet daughter to marry, and in her mind,
making her the best and most mature Bennet daughter. Lydia will never understand the money and
sacrifice it took for her uncle to negotiate with Wickham to make him actually marry Lydia instead of
taking advantage of her. She will never understand how miserable her life, and her family s life could
have been if it weren t for her uncle to clean up the mess she made from her immature and

Throughout history invaders and or conquerors from all over the world had terrorized small villages,
towns, cities, and slaughtered innocent bystanders regardless of age. These invaders forced themselves

were, they were mostly for the same reason: land and its resources and simply the opportunity to
expand their influence. Many countries had suffered this type of invasion. It had almost taken out the

Albania s history was driven under different Empires. The very first one to rule Albania was Phillip II

implementation in India was done using NoSQL Databases as huge amount of information is
associated including Text Data, Images, Thumb Impressions and Iris Detection. Any classical database
system cannot handle the dataset of different types (Image, Text, Video, Audio, Video, Thumb
Impressions for Pattern Recognition, Iris Sample) simultaneously.
Currently, a number of NoSQL Databases are used for different type of portals and these are
specialized in handling heterogeneous and unstructured data.
OPEN SOURCE NOSQL DATABASES
In classical web based implementations, the RDBMS packages are deployed for the database
applications including Apache Derby, MySQL, Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM Notes,
PostgreSQL, SQLite, Sybase or any other. These are known as Traditional SQL Databases which are

Crime Statistics Do Not Reflect True Crime Rates Essay
Crime statistics are not what we are led to believe. We hear a lot about the crime rates going up and
down from the media and they tend to expand on specific types of criminal behavior that might be of
interest to the public. When politicians are running for office we are told that the crime rates are down
due to the tough crime policies that they have been implemented. Citizens seek crime rates for
assistance in determining if the area they reside in is safe. Some people wish to get a general idea of
the crime rates for a specific neighborhood where they are thinking of purchasing a house. But what is
never explained is where do the crime statistics come from and were there any factors that could have
had an effect on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By police agencies using this form of statistical classifying, there is a major loss in the data of the
lower crimes on the scale. A complete total of certain crimes are not included in the statistics creating
several inaccuracies in the totals. The UCR policy does not require all crimes to be reported to the
state. Violations of the General City Ordinance and Vehicle and Traffic Law are considered too low for
the hierarchy scale. These types of crimes are never included in the monthly submission and we
generally never hear about them. Since crime statistics begin at the forefront of the police department,
the police officer, this leaves a lot of room for unreliability. Police officers create crime data by
completing and submitting crime reports and arrest reports. These reports include all of the pertinent
information necessary for the committed crime(s) for a specific incident.
There are times when police officers fail to complete written reports of certain crimes or they
downgrade the offense of a report to a less serious offense. Meanwhile, some police reports are over
rated in the seriousness of certain offenses. At the end of each officer s shift the reports and arrest
records are submitted to the appropriate unit or division of occurrence. Within a day or two these
records are then transferred to a central records department and maintained at this location. During the
transfer from one unit to another these records

Five Types Of Power In Corrections
Correctional officers are generally considered to be at the bottom of the staff hierarchy. The five types
of power that are available to correctional officers in an institution are legitimate power, coercive
power, reward power, expert power and referent power. First, the legitimate power is available to
correction officers similar to the power that is available a chain of command in organizations. Second,
the coercive power establishes a structural relationship of the prisoner and the prison guard by
maintaining discipline amongst the prison population. Third, the reward power is when correctional
officers utilizing formal and informal rewards to influence cooperation among prison inmates.
Additionally, this places correctional officers in

Contributions Of Thomas Paine
18th Century Thomas Paine was born February 9th, 1737 in Thetford, United Kingdom. Paine was an
influential thinker, writer, and philosopher. He wrote many great works and greatly contributed to the
foundation of America. His most influential works were Common Sense and Rights of Man. Paine s
pamphlet, Common Sense, called for American independence based on a just republican government.
Common Sense became a bestseller, and set the tone for American independence. George Washington
would often read out the writings of Paine in order to inspire his men during the American Revolution.
Thomas Paine s Rights of Man stated that the government should not only support mankind s natural
rights, but also its civil rights, or the right of individuals to receive equal treatment. Without Paine s
writings, America might not have gained its independence, and we might not possess our civil rights.
19th Century Harriet Beecher Stowe, born June 14th, 1811, was a writer and an anti slavery
campaigner. Stowe is best known for her book Uncle Tom s Cabin. Her book tells about the life of a
slave, and all of the hardships he endured. Uncle Tom s Cabin was meant to spread the word of how
cruel slavery was, and to influence people to end it. In the North, the book promoted the anti slavery
movement, but it enraged the South, and led to the book s opposition. This book fueled the
disagreement of slavery between the North and the South, sparking the beginning of the Civil War. It
was later said that Stow was the the little woman who started the big war. Not only did Harriet
Beecher Stowe influence others through her words, she also influenced them through her actions, by
taking part in the underground railroad. Some of the slaves that she aided during her time in the
underground railroad mirrored characters in Uncle Tom s Cabin.
20th Century Mary Pope Osborne was born on May 20th, 1949. Osborne is the author of The Magic
Treehouse series, which is a children s book, that many of us probably read in second and third grade.

In the the text On the Road by Jack Kerouac and In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, the main
characters Sal and Perry go through many events that bring them to tragic moments that they regret

aunt and become someone else in the sense that he fantasizes. And in this journey he encounters Dean

exactly what Sal needed to add some spark to his life. He too becomes a mad man, but he only follows
him in order to find his true identity, and in the end he is back where he started. Upset with the failure
of him not being the wild type, Dean s influence brought him to his failure by having him around Sal
loses control of his will. Perry however committed a more serious failure not intended, by killing an
entire family in which they lived happily. Sal and Perry have influence by their friends , someone that

Essay Week 4 Discussion Questions
From the scenario for Katrina s Candies, determine the relevant costs for the expansion decision, and
distinguish between the short run and the long run costs. Recommend the key decision making criteria
that Katrina s Candies should use for expansion decisions in the short run and in the long run. Provide
rationale for your response.
Relevant costs are those that are avoidable or can be eliminated by choosing one alternative over
another. Relevant costs are also known as differential, or incremental, costs. In general, variable costs
are relevant in production decisions because they vary with the level of production. Likewise, fixed
costs are generally not relevant, because they typically do not change as production changes.
However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
c) Cash flow: Expenses such as depreciation are not cash flows and are therefore not relevant.
Similarly, the book value of existing equipment is irrelevant, but the disposal value is relevant.
d) Common costs: Costs which will be identical for all alternatives are irrelevant, e.g. rent or rates on
a factory would be incurred whatever products are produced.
e) Sunk costs: Another name for past costs, which are always irrelevant, e.g. dedicated fixed assets,
development costs already incurred.
f) Committed costs: A future cash outflow that will be incurred anyway, whatever decision is taken
now, e.g. contracts already entered into which cannot be altered.
g) Out of pocket cost requires future outlay of cash and results from management s decisions; is
relevant.
h) Opportunity cost is potential benefit lost by taking specific action when two or more alternative
choices are available; consideration is important.
Relevant benefits are additional or incremental revenue generated by selecting a particular course of
action over another; relevant to decision making.
Short run costs Economists define the short run as being the time period when at least one of the
factors of production is completely fixed. For example, for a particular company this might mean that
they have reached full capacity in a warehouse or at a factory site. These short run costs consist

Summary Of Serpent Labret With Articulated Tongue
The first artwork I selected was the Serpent Labret with Articulated Tongue ; the artist of this piece is
unknown. I was looking forward to this the most because this piece was used to advertise/promote the
Golden Kingdom exhibition at the Getty Museum. The picture of this piece was everywhere; it was on
the wall, signs, stairs, maps, and pamphlets. Just by looking at the pictures I saw and not knowing
what it was, I thought that this piece was a hair accessory, like a hairpin because of its long handle.
However, I was wrong; after finding out what this really is, the Serpent Labret with Articulated
Tongue is a labret or mostly known as lip plug. This piece was used by higher authorities such as
politicians and soldiers as a sign of power and achievements on the battlefield; just like pins and
medals given to soldiers and military veterans in today s modern society. What I like the most about
this labret is its design, the tongue sways side by side whenever its wearer moves, it can also be
retracted since the serpent s tongue is a movable piece. It s not just a stiff, simple labret but a moving,
classic piece which gives its wearer a sophisticated and elegant look. This labret is made from gold
which reveals that the person who wore this was a person with authority, a ruler who people respected.
The face and body of the serpent are highly detailed, the fangs and the eyes look menacing just like a
real serpent. One could tell that this labret was made delicately,

Similarities Between Christopher Columbus And Marie Curie
Christopher Columbus Marie Curie
Made By: Grace M., Hayden B, Cade. E ., Aidan W h There are many things that Christopher
Columbus and Marie Curie have both had trouble with or gone through. They both have gone through
many tough obstacles that were both life threatening and unsafe. Many of those obstacles also affected
how they and their family get to see and interact with each other. But they never have up and kept
doing what they loved to do. Christopher wants to go west to get to Orient and Marie a scientist made
in the male dominated field of science.
Something the two people wanted to do was be able to be famous, which was possible. Though they
died of disease, they did not have the same kind of death. Christopher died from Gout, that causes a
severed agony which hurts to wear clothes, and Marie died by Aplastic Anemia. Aplastic Anemia is a
disease that causes the bone marrow to have struggles with delivering blood throughout the body.
Columbus died by chills, fever, and difficulty breathing. Something that the two scientists had in
common was the two were both inspired by their dreams and goals. Christopher was integrated into
Sailing in Orient by going west instead of going east and found Hispaniola. ... Show more content on

Also Christopher spent lots of time at the sea sailing for Spain and claiming land, gold and spices. And
Marie Curie spent lots and lots of her time in her lab working with her radium and not with her family.
Christopher Columbus went on his explorations during the 1400s and the 1500s,and Marie Curie did
her lab experiments in the 1800s and the 1900s. So they were very separated in time and there
personalities are very different too. Also Christopher Columbus enjoyed exploring and discovering the
world unlike Marie Curie enjoyed studying and testing her radium

How Does Shakespeare Present Elizabeth And Darcy s...
Lindsey Dotson Mrs. Schroeder English IV February 2018 The Progression of Darbeth Many
relationships evolve throughout Pride and Prejudice, including the most well known between
Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. The relationship progresses through the novel from the dismissal of
Elizabeth by Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet s hatred of Mr. Darcy, to eventually both of them falling in
love with each other. Mr. Darcy progressively gained feelings for her despite of her hatred of him,
while Elizabeth began to uncover the real personality and good heartedness of Mr. Darcy. The
relationship between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth first started with Mr. Darcy s affection, which lead to

Darcy, which started as unpleasant. She did remember his boasting one day, at Netherfield, of the
implacability of his resentments, of his having an unforgiving temper. His disposition must be
dreadful (101). After hearing Mr. Wickham s lies, Elizabeth said I had not thought Mr. Darcy so bad as
this though I have never liked him. I had not thought so very ill of him (100). Awhile later, Elizabeth
along with her aunt and uncle, mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, decided to tour the home of Mr. Darcy,
Pemberley. Her vision of Mr. Darcy soon changes after this visit. Through the discussion between Mr.
Darcy s housekeeper, Mrs. Reynolds, Elizabeth learns of Mr. Wickham s true nature. She explains He
has turned out very wild (303). Mrs. Reynolds goes on and compliments Mr. Darcy s looks, kind
heartedness, and generosity. Elizabeth had not seen this side of Mr. Darcy until he surprised them at
Pemberley. Elizabeth thought to herself about his behaviour, so strikingly altered what could it mean?
That he should even speak to her was amazing! but to speak with such civility, to inquire after her
family! Never in her life had she seen his manners so little dignified, never had he spoken with such
gentleness as on this unexpected meeting (310). During this meeting Elizabeth begins to regret
denying Mr. Darcy s proposal and starts falling in

  • 2. The Importance Of The Sinaloa Cartel In Mexico As a child when my mother would travel to Mexico there was always minimal extortion, mordidas from the judiciales when crossing the boarders. The country seemed relatively safe at the time. The mordidas was a common incident for people who would travel from the United States to their home towns. My mother said that it was uncommon to hear about drugs, massacre, and executions. Nowadays, this is the new norm in Mexico . In general there is an overwhelming negative feeling towards the government. In their article, Crime and Drug Cartels Top Concerns in Mexico , Pew Research, a world survey report website, stated that, 45% of Mexicans say their government is making progress, while 29% say the government is losing ground, and 25% ... • 3. The Importance Of Food Waste Through the innovation of technology, mankind has been able to create great, and extraordinary feats of nature. Taking the smallest indesirable object, then constructing it into a skyscraper or the smallest most powerful computer. Also through the process of innovation we humans have almost completely mastered the art of mass manufacturing products making our daily needs and wants readily available to us. The food industry is a one of many examples of this mass manufacturing evolution, going from food being made over camp fires to being made in huge factory pumping out fathoming quantities of product. With this evolution comes the downfall of waste. Food waste is not always avoidable but in some cases the waste is necessary as some things are not safe for consumption after undergoing certain processes. But no matter the waste product some form of use should be found for the seemingly invaluable waste product or a way to reduce unnecessary food waste. Food waste is a huge problem most americans are completely oblivious too. According to a United states department of Agriculture report, 133 billion pounds of food went unused in 2010. While animal products like meat and dairy being towards the top of the list, added up to $105 billion of wasted food.( Waste Not, Want not 26) While worldwide about one third of all food produced is either lost or gone to waste which adds up to about 1.3 Billion tons of waste. To break into a new market, it is inevitable that entrepreneurs would be faced with extreme competition from other minor and major market players and other unknown threats. • 5. The Sports Supplement Industry Is Rapidly Growing And... The Sports Supplement industry is rapidly growing and making an enormous profit off of their products when most of them don t even work anyway. Forbes has stated that the supplement industry took in $32 billion dollars in 2012. The Nutritional Business Journal projects that the number will jump to $60 billion dollars by the year 2021. The reason I want to share this is because you can save so much money by not buying supplements or if you do then just purchase the ones that have actual scientific proof to benefit you. I like many people have been a victim of the supplement industry. I was baited in just like everyone else with the guaranteed lean muscle gains or rapid fat burn . The outrageous claims are everywhere! If you go through a muscle magazine, every page is an advertisement telling you that to get big and ripped, you must purchase this hot new supplement. They re all lies! Luckily for me, I did not spend years and years of buying supplements and wasting my money. After about a year of buying supplements that I thought would work, I started to become educated on the topic and haven t wasted money on supplements since. Once you find out the truth about supplements you will never waste your money and time on useless products again. Let s start off with the supplements that actually do work and are worth purchasing if you have the money and desire for sports supplements. Protein powder and creatine. That s it. • 8. Hypnosis And Pain Case Study Introduction When considering hypnosis and pain, it becomes important to first provide working definitions of the concepts. Since both hypnosis and pain really heavily on patient assessments and self evaluations, it becomes essential that all ensuing research is discussed on common ground. First let us consider hypnosis. The Oxford Handbook of Hypnosis: Theory, Research and Practice mentions two elements that should be considered when defining hypnosis: hypnosis as procedure and hypnosis as product. The first element of this definition hypnosis as procedure involves two necessary components: an introduction and the first suggestion. As described by the book, the introduction includes informing the subject that hypnosis involves potential imaginative experiences. Case Studies One such example involves Harold Wain, the director of the Psychiatric Liaison Service at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The case focused on a woman with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He noted that hypnosis alone, as in the relaxation effect produced by the hypnotic induction, did little in terms of pain reduction. This indicates that the key to pain reduction through the use of hypnosis revolves around the suggestions given during hypnosis rather than the process itself. Hilgard also demonstrated that the mind is capable of hallucinating pain, although it was less severe than the pain caused by the normal nonhypnotic state. As this also produced consistent results, it can be generalized that verbal reports can provide significant results in experiments involving pain for waking, hypnotic, and induced hallucination states. During these experiments, Hilgard also examined the changes of heart rate and blood pressure during the trials. Unfortunately, he was unable to determine significant differences between the varying states. This shows that physiological indicators of pain shouldn t be used to determine the varying levels of subjects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Lithium Research Paper Lithium is the third element on the periodic table and is known as the lightest metal, and is half as dense as water. It is a part of the Alkali metals, meaning it is in the first group on the periodic table. Lithium is normally not found in nature, due to the fact that it has a very unstable nucleus. The name Lithium is derived from the Greek word lithos, which means stone . This name was likely given to Lithium due to the fact that it was discovered in the mineral petalite (LiAl(Si2O5)2) by Johann August Arfvedson in 1817. It was later isolated through the form of electrolysis of lithium oxide by William Thomas Brande. Lithium is made of two stable isotopes, with Lithium 6 containing 3 neutrons and accounting 7.59% of the natural abundance of lithium, and Lithium 7 containing 4 neutrons and accounting for 92.41% of lithium s natural abundance. ... • 10. Medical Records And Electronic Records This case study has presented multiple issues concerning converting paper medical record to electronic medical records. The first concerns are the inefficiencies of the paper medical records and the steps needed to convert the current records to digital records. A second concern was that the medical staff would have to change their work habits to adjust to using the electronic medical records and the training that would be needed to implement the electronic record software. Another concern would be the various formats of software programs and the ability to complement each other. The final concern was the security of the electronic records, misuse of the information or problems accessing the information due to unforeseen circumstances. As the case stated paper records are cumbersome, bulky and difficult to access. As you read through the case it does make one think about how your own medical records are maintained within the doctor s office. As with my own medical records there was a time that the doctor was looking back through the actual sheets of paper in my file looking for information how he treated a certain medical issue that I had experience years prior, because the same issue reappeared again. • 11. A Sunrise On The Veld Poem Analysis How Two Completely Different Stories Can Have So Many Similarities The short stories, A Sunrise on the Veld and At the Pitt Rivers , have nothing in common if you analyze them on a shallow literature level. A Sunrise on the Veld by Doris Lessing, highlights some of the reasons why life is so valuable. Lessing hints her readers that this short story is set somewhere in the desert by, ... the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with cold... He slung the shoes over his shoulder... they would be necessary when the ground became too hot to bear, (Lessing, pg. 1212). Most deserts get heated by the sun by day, but loses the heat at night. The boy starts hunting, at first, but then is distracted by a wounded buck. Seeing this buck suffer, depicts him especially sad. A boy is also the protagonist in At the Pitt Rivers by Penelope Lively. This boy spends his time in a museum, observing people and writing poems as the time passes. He keeps track of a couple he sees at the museum. The couple catches his attention because they are not his ideal of what a couple should look like. If a kindergartener read these two short stories, he/she would find nothing in common with the stories. But, if the reader has the ability to analyze the text in more depth, he/she would find that they are more similar than the kindergartener would think. As an advanced reader, a comparison that is prevalent in both stories is, society s thinking of the ideal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. How Anglo American s Stakeholders Influence Carroll s... Anglo American hired Cynthia Carroll as chief executive officer in hopes that she would improve the overall performance of the company. Failing to meet their expectations would almost guarantee her time at the company would be short lived. As CEO she must juggle the interests of her stakeholders and make decisions that benefit the company. It can prove to be a difficult task as certain stakeholders hold more power and have more influence when it comes to making these decisions. In this paper I will be using stakeholder theory to discuss how Anglo American s stakeholders influence Carroll s decision. Carroll is well aware of the dangers her employees face, however she must decide whether it is in her best interest to increase safety or not. While increasing safety measures may make the company look better, it will come at great costs. Although Cynthia Carroll is facing some opposition from it s the South African government and its employees, when taking in the interests of all the company s stakeholders it is clear that she must keep the mines up and running without taking more safety precautions. Maintaining a good relationship between business and government is important to the success every company. In this case, the South African government is important to think about because they alter how Anglo American deals with its employees, however they do not have enough power to sway the decision in their favor. • 17. Bay City Fire Department Case Study The situation that is happening with the Bay City Fire Department is very disturbing because they are supposed to be one of the few pillars in the community for people to trust to get their job done, and I believe they have a very important role to fulfill but they are slacking majorly. A few speculations on why they are violating standard operational procedures because that is how the older firefighters did it in the past. Since many of the firefighters in charge are much older than the recruits they have ways of doing tasks differently than the new regulations that were put in place over the years. Another speculation that could be made is that there may not be much commotion in the community and whoever gets to the fire the quickest or to the accident the fastest will get the recognition and the excitement of completing a task. Thirdly, the mild form of hazing that the veterans put the recruits through contributes to why they are not progressing and why many of them are dying in fires. They are taught by the older ones that they have to look and follow specific duties in order to become a real firefighter. The last reason they might be having so many accidents is that the older regulations that the captains are following and the new regulations that recruits are following are clashing literally with the truck crashes and figuratively with ideologies. ... Whiteley s use of symbolism in his works is outstandingly illustrated in Whiteley s Archibald Prize winning self portrait Art, Life and the Other Thing (1978) [refer Appendix 4] where Whiteley demonstrates the controversy of the Archibald in his representation of the William Dobell s controversial winning portrait of Joshua Smith (1943) [refer Appendix 5] and John Bloomfield s disqualification from the Archibald 1975 because of his portrait that was deemed to be painted from a picture of Tim Burstall. The tube was then warmed in a hot water bath for about 5 minutes, the folded red litmus paper was inserted at the top of the tube with a wet crease. After a few minutes, nitrate is indicated on the wet crease of the litmus paper, turning it blue. For the Carbonate test, 25 mg of carbonate sample was added to a centrifuge tube and 3 drops of 6 M H2SO4 was added. A disposable pipet was used to transfer a drop of Ba(OH)2, that hung directly from the pipet over the carbonate solution, and the observations of the drop were recorded. Part 3 Cation and Anion Analysis For the cation analysis, 0.566 g of an unknown compound was dissolved completely in 5mL of distilled water in a centrifuge tube, thus confirming this solution as a stock solution. A flame test was performed on the stock solution to give a general idea of what test was to e preformed on the stock solution deriving the information from our logic trees in part 1. • 20. Lydia Bennet The Regency Era in England was an interesting period of time, ruled by elegance and etiquette with definitive social classes. Women and men both wanted to marry rich, and this left some young women hungry for a wealthy husband, or just a husband at all. This type of girl is characterized in the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, through the character of Lydia Bennet. She is the fifth Bennet daughter, automatically acquiring the title of the youngest Bennet daughter. Her behavior is not tentative when it comes to interacting with men, and she is very naive to the emotions of others. Through the use of the spoiled youngest child stock character Austen showcases the satirical behavior of young women in their tenacious control over their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During Lydia s brief stay at the Bennet household following her marriage, she speaks with confidence when she says that her sisters should be jealous of her marriage, and she wishes they have half [her] good luck in finding a husband (269). This statement is extremely ironic, because Lydia s large ego inhibits her ability to see Wickham s true character. She does not know how boorishly he acted towards Mr. Darcy, how much money he lost gambling, or how hated he is in his home town. Lydia cannot make a clear minded decision and evaluate how her elopement will affect family, let alone her own life. Pride also gets in the way, and her childish mindset only see how eloping with Wickham will result in her being the first Bennet daughter to marry, and in her mind, making her the best and most mature Bennet daughter. Lydia will never understand the money and sacrifice it took for her uncle to negotiate with Wickham to make him actually marry Lydia instead of taking advantage of her. She will never understand how miserable her life, and her family s life could have been if it weren t for her uncle to clean up the mess she made from her immature and spontaneous ... I was looking forward to this the most because this piece was used to advertise/promote the Golden Kingdom exhibition at the Getty Museum. The picture of this piece was everywhere; it was on the wall, signs, stairs, maps, and pamphlets. Just by looking at the pictures I saw and not knowing what it was, I thought that this piece was a hair accessory, like a hairpin because of its long handle. However, I was wrong; after finding out what this really is, the Serpent Labret with Articulated Tongue is a labret or mostly known as lip plug. This piece was used by higher authorities such as politicians and soldiers as a sign of power and achievements on the battlefield; just like pins and medals given to soldiers and military veterans in today s modern society. What I like the most about this labret is its design, the tongue sways side by side whenever its wearer moves, it can also be retracted since the serpent s tongue is a movable piece. It s not just a stiff, simple labret but a moving, classic piece which gives its wearer a sophisticated and elegant look. This labret is made from gold which reveals that the person who wore this was a person with authority, a ruler who people respected. The face and body of the serpent are highly detailed, the fangs and the eyes look menacing just like a real serpent. One could tell that this labret was made delicately, ...
