What are the different threats to the sustainability of Synthes` competitive advantage?
Synthes has several threats to consider in the near and upcoming future. The first threat we can talk
about is with regards to imitation. Imitation is a big deal in the internal fixation device industry.
Synthes has become the leader in this market due to several competitive advantages, for example
the affiliation with AO, which surgeons take as a sign of confidence. These advantages have been
able to sustain them with huge market share and very high sales during the last 20 years. They have
also created other competitive advantages within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The threat level is still low because the first trial of bioresorbable failed and the second
generation has not yet fully convinced surgeons. But most doctors seem open to the idea or
already use some of the bioresorbable derivatives to substitute some of Synthes` products today.
The difference from the first generation bioresorbable products to the second one improved
drastically and the third generation could eventually be almost as effective as today s solutions.
If Synthes is not fully prepared there could be a very big threat to the company not only in sales
but also reputation because they are known for being the top dog and always offering the newest
products for internal fixation. A company with a similar strategy (affiliation to AO, good sales
reps, high quality product) could not only imitate but also substitute if the product part were to be
able to be effective and accepted by doctors. Although there are threats in a competitive industry
such as this one, we believe that Synthes has enough actual and probable competitive advantages
to sustain throughout time as a leader in the internal fixation industry. When we discuss the S
Curve for Synthes, we could see that bioresorbable technology is slow and improving poorly
because it is not understood quite well. If anybody gets it right we could see the acceleration
process and this is where Synthes would be highly

Pericles Funeral Oration Essay
Pericles of the Funeral Oration outlines his ideal of Athens, and what makes an Athenian, which
was his ideal person. Plato in the Apology, Crito, and the Phaedo describes the trial and execution
of Socrates. Athens after the second Peloponnesian War is cling to an unstable democracy, and
extremely fearful of anything that threatens their way of life. Pericleswould view this Athens as a
shell of its former self. This can be best seen through the trial and execution of Socrates. Socrates
could be described as the ideal Athenian, he strove to make Athens and its people better, yet he was
executed for having different ideas. Pericles given the opportunity to evaluate Athens and Socrates,
during this time, could make the argument that Socrates is akin to his ideal of Athens and that
Athens, as it stood, was more closely related to Sparta.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They had suffered defeat in the second Peloponnesian Warand were grappling with the struggle of
stabilizing their fragile democracy. They believed that something like political philosophy could
destabilize Athens beyond repair. This is part of what drove them to execute Socrates. Socrates was
brought up on charges of corrupting the youth, making the worse argument better, and teaching
things of the earth and the sky. During the trial, Socrates had every justification, but in the end, it
was not enough to save his life. Socrates argues that the laws are intended to make Athenians better
people and that if an old man wandering around asking questions can corrupt the youth, then what
sort of youth must they be. He argues that if Athens is so unstable that they cannot withstand
questions then they are already

During the 1950s, Pepsi evolved from the low cost price leader to a more lifestyle drink
approach. For example, as Americans became more health conscious, Pepsi introduced slogans
such as The Light Refreshment and Refreshing Without Filling. Other new advertising
campaigns included slogans such as Be Sociable, Have a Pepsi and Now Its Pepsi, For Those
Who Think Young to concentrate on a younger market. It was this younger target market and the
post war baby boom generation that set the stage for Pepsi s long lasting brand image. It all
started with Pepsi advertiser Alan Pottasch, who recognized the different nature of the newest
generation of consumers. Whereas consumers before the war were more cautious and price
conscious, the post war baby boomer generation was carefree and hopeful. Pepsi once again
capitalized on the changing environment, and under Pottasch launched the Pepsi Generation
campaign in 1963. The campaign was an advertising breakthrough as it helped to set a new
standard for advertising in America. The ads portrayed happy Americans living the American
dream with their Pepsis, of course. By associating its brand with youth and excitement, Pepsi Cola
became the forerunner of lifestyle marketing. Future campaigns continued to promote this brand

Annotatory Tract Infection Paper
Every year a familiar scene plays out in clinic waiting rooms, chairs filled with miserable patients
waiting to see their physician with complaints of a never ending cough and a constant nasal drip.
More than likely, these patients will receive a prescription for antibiotics, but should they? Most
acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs), do not require an antibiotic, the symptoms will resolve
themselves over time without antibiotic treatment. Healthcare experts and scientists have warned
the public about the dangers of overusing antibiotics, and there are thousands of studies to support
that fact, but no one is listening. Patients are convinced they need to have antibiotic treatment, and

The authors of the study are confident that their quality improvement approach can be successfully
replicated in other family practice clinics. The methods used by the project could be easily

Hawthorne Effect. The Hawthorne Effect or an observer effect acknowledges that both physicians
and patients were fully aware they were participating in a quality improvement project. The project
would have been more efficient if the participants were unaware they were being evaluated. When
individuals believe they are not being observed the results tend to be more trustworthy. Ultimately,
the project proved its hypothesis and educated individuals about the risks of overusing antibiotics.
Eventually, patients and physicians will learn to be cautious, and let viral infections run their natural

6. Airline Cuts
Airlines might cut down on services to Las Vegas and other vacation destinations if the economy
doesn t recover quickly. This would hurt tourism and revenues on the Las Vegas Strip. With less
people traveling it becomes more expensive for airlines to fly back an forth to destinations. 7.
Government Intervention
Government intervention could put downside pressure on the stock. Possible government
intervention increases risk, because the government is a big customer and has a history of making
adverse changes to the operating ability of companies in every industry. A government regulated
industry increases political risk, because government actions may not be in the best interest of
citizen of that particular country. Governments are usually inefficient with spending money.
Regulations are meant to protect the environmental and consumers. They take the form of permits,
package, etc

The Benefits Of Hyperglycemia And Hypoglycemia, The Parts...
This paper will contain information about hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, the parts of the
paper will talk about; the pathophysiology, the signs and symptoms, and the care priorities for
each disorder. Read on to understand the two diseases discussed above. Hyperglycemia means
high sugar or glucose. The foods we eat contain glucose; insulin is a hormone that moves glucose
into cells to give energy. When a body doesn t make enough insulin or the body can t use it in the
right way then hyperglycemiaoccurs. The symptoms that come with hyperglycemia are as
follows: increase thirst, increased urination, fatigue or overly exhausted, blurred vision, frequent
infections, slow healing of wounds, and unexplained weight loss. Symptoms discussed above don
t occur until the glucose level exceeds 200 mg/dl. These symptoms develop slowly over several
days or weeks, the longer the level stays high the more serious the condition becomes. It is very
important to treat hyperglycemia because if this disease is left untreated dangerous complications
can occur including Cardiovascular Disease, Neuropathy, kidney failure, Cataracts, bone and joint
problems, and teeth and gum infections. If sugar raises high enough and remains elevated for a
long period of time, it can lead to two serious complications which are Diabetic Ketoacidosis and
Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar Syndrome. Diabetic Ketoacidosis develops when there isn t enough
insulin in the body, when this occurs glucose can t enter the

decision.

Analysis and Critique of Reading Assignment 1 Paper Limits of Instruction Level Parallelism
In this report the author provides quantifiable results that show the available parallelism. The report
defines various terminologies like Instruction Level parallelism, dependencies, Branch Prediction,
Data Cache Latency, Jump prediction, Memory address alias analysis etc. used clearly. A total of
eighteen test programs with seven models have been examined and the results show significant
effects of the variations on the standard models. The seven models reflect parallelism that is
available by various compiler/architecture techniques like branch prediction, register renaming etc.
The lack of branch prediction means that it finds intra block ... Show more content on

Though this is a good way to increase the available parallelism, but loop unrolling schemes have
difficulty in scheduling instructions efficiently with variable latency dependencies. The new
techniques of dynamic history based approach to increase parallelism is branch prediction allow us
to benefit from a large branch predictor, enhancing success rates that are still improving slightly
even when we are using a 1 megabit predictor. The fair model is relatively insensitive to the size
of the predictor, though even a tiny 4 bit predictor improves the mean parallelism by 50%. The
same is evident in case of the Great model wherein the three most parallel programs are quite
insensitive to the size of the predictor. We look for paths of few conditional branches, up to the
fanout limit, but that we do not look past branches beyond that point. After the fanout limit is
reached dynamic prediction is used to look for instructions from the one predicted path to schedule.
When fanout is followed by good branch prediction, the fanout does not affect much. Parallelism
via jump prediction; Subroutine with return ring technique are used. Smaller the return prediction
ring improves some programs a lot, even under the Great model. A large return ring,

incorporating autobiographical elements into her work. Porter developed an intense relationship

The subtle yet critical thefts of the night before take place, as so many petty thefts can, under

Will Smith, in the Pursuit of Happyness, strives to show audiences across the globe what it

Animal Morality And Master Morality
agiarNietzsche is one of the most famous, complex, baffling, and misunderstood philosophers of
all time. Nietzsche begins his ethics with the proposition that there are only two basic types of
morality: slave morality and master morality. These types of morality Nietzsche proposes were
initially formed when society was not actually made up of masters and slaves. In a society where
masters were completely free and slaves simply had to do whatever their masters said. Based on
their respective situations Nietzsche argues these two groups of people came up with two very
different types of morality. Now of course there are no longer literal masterand slaves in today s
society. However nietzche proposes well masters and slaves no longer exist but the moral system
they came up with do. Therefore if we are to understand and evaluate morality as it exists today,
we must investigate morality as it was originally defined by master and slaves.
Masters are totally free. They do what they want, to whom that want, and whatever they want.
How it is such a person in such a situation begin to think about morality. Nietzsche proposes a
person in such a situation would begin by saying that whatever it is the approval of our desire is
good. We can imagin such a list of thing such a master might approve of . he will no doubt desire
to show off his courage during battle to keep power over his slaves and it demonstrates his honour
in front of his fellow master. Goodness in master morality is

Essay on Ap World Similarities and Differences China and Rome
Han China and Rome The Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire both had a great influence not only
on its people but the world as a whole. The two had similar and different methods of political
control. Both ruled their people under a bureaucracy, they had civil servants to maintain their large
empires, and their foundations were made of great and strong rulers. Aside from the similarities
they also had several differences. Take China for example, they focused more on Confucianism and
they had a Mandate of Heaven. Rome on the other hand used entertainment to distract and control
the masses of its population.

Civilians could obtain government jobs by taking examinations. Loyal followers were also
rewarded government posts by their emperor. Now what would The Han Dynasty and The Roman
Empire do without their great and strong emperors? The emperors are pretty much the building
foundations of the empire. Rome had the one and only Octavian who later took the title of
Augustus. Augustus was Julius Caesar s grandnephew and adopted son. He became the Roman
Empire s first emperor after defeating the combined forces of Mark Anthony and Queen
Cleopatra. He brought the empire to a long and peaceful period which is known as Pax Romana.
He also glorified Rome and created a form of government which is known as a bureaucracy that
survived for centuries. There were other great emperors of Rome like: Nerva, Hadrian, Trajan,
Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelias. Nerva began the custom of adopting heir. Hadrian
consolidated earlier conquests and reorganized the bureaucracy. Trajan help the empire reach its
greatest extent; he undertook vast bulding programs and enlarged social welfare. Antoninus Pius
reign largely a period of peace and prosperity similar to Pax Romana. Marcus Aurelias brought
the Roman Empire to its height of economic prosperity, defeated invaders, and wrote a philospy.
The Han Dynasty had the great emperor Wudi who reigned for 141 to 87 B.C; he was the emperor
who ruled the longest. He was a courageous emperor; he expanded the Chinese empire through war.

away from the synapse. The electric impulse move from the first neuron, along the axon, to the
synapse at the synaptic knobs. Secretion of chemical transmitter into the synaptic nerve depolarizes
the membrane of the subsequent neuron. In its unexcited state, a neuron retains a resting membrane
potential. When the membrane potential is excited, the arrival of an action potentialat the synaptic
knob allows the neurotransmitters released into synaptic cleft to trigger an action potential in the
postsynaptic neuron (McCance Huether, 2014).
The central nervous system CNS is the main control center of the body that receives sensory input,
organizes and synthesizes it then provides instructions for motor output to the rest of the body. It
constitute of the brain and spinal cord. The brain consist of the cerebrum which regulates high level
functioning such as thinking, and the cerebellum which maintains coordination. The midbrain,
pons and medulla are part of the brain stem and they control lower level functioning such as
respiration. The spinal cord joins the body s main receptors, and functions as a channel for sensory
input and motor output.
The peripheral nervous system (PNS) constitute of the cranial and spinal nerves. The PNS provides

Essay on The Demise of Pompeii
Pompeii, a Roman city with a population of about 20,000, was annihilated by Mount Vesuvius on
August 26, 79 AD. It wasn t until 1595, when artifacts from Pompeii were excavated. Centuries of
raiding and looting then followed. In the mid nineteenth century, archaeological excavations began,
revealing to the modern world the way the people lived (and died) in 79 A.D. The eruption of
Mount Vesuviuswas, in fact, the downfall of the ancient city, Pompeii, but people today still
wonder how it all happened, and how it all began.
Pompeii was established in the 6th century, B.C. By the 1st century A.D., Pompeii was rebelling

In fact, 62 A.D. marks the date of a very large precursor earthquake. Because earthquakes happen so
frequently, there are, consequently, related volcanic eruptions. Mount Vesuvius is a composite
volcano. This type of volcano has many layers of lava and ash. There are two kinds of eruptions. A
composite volcano like Vesuvius will erupt with two kinds of eruptions, but never at the same time.
One eruption type contains mostly cinders and ash, and the other type of eruption contains mostly
lava. Mount Vesuvius has erupted more than 50 times since 79 A.D., alternating its eruption types.
The first time when lava was recorded was many years after the destruction of Pompeii. .
The main cause of death was suffocation in this town, most likely from the toxic fumes being
emitted from the volcano. Because the eruption was only ashes and fumes, people probably
struggled in darkness for hours before finally dying. Many wonder why so many people died if
they had time to flee, but we must remember that the inhabitants did not know that Vesuvius was a
volcano, causing them to flee to their houses, instead of further away from the scene. About ten
feet of ash and rock fell onto Pompeii, and about 75 feet of ash fell on its neighboring city,
Herculaneum. After Pompeii was excavated in the nineteenth century, it was revealed that There

Reaction Paper On Superstition
One of the most famous players, Michael Jordan, wears his college team s shorts underneath his
Bulls uniform because he believes that it brings him good luck. He even got 6 NBA
championships, which is proof that his superstition worked. Based on Dr. Stuart Vyse, the
professor of Psychology at Connecticut College. Who is also a science writer and the author of
Believing in Magic: The Psychology of Superstition and The 7 Laws of Magical Thinking: How
Irrational Beliefs Keep Us Happy, Healthy, and Sane. Defined the word superstition, A superstition
is a belief or behavior that s inconsistent with conventional science and attributes functional mental
properties into non mental phenomenon. (L. 39 to 42) In other words, a superstition is doing
something to get a better outcome.
To start off, superstitions can make us feel like we are controlling our outcomes and that we are in
control of the situations, that we have no control over. They re maintained in part by a phenomenon
psychologists call the illusions of control. In certain circumstances, if you perform some action that
can t possibly affect the outcome in any real sense, you have the feeling that you have control and
that feels good better than just sitting and waiting. (L. 71 to 76) To simplify, superstitions help our
brains relax and increase the chances of getting a desired outcome. As a fact, the illusionary feeling
of control can strengthen the actual control we have over a situation.
To add on, one of the best

Saxophone History
The saxophone is a great instrument that has been used all over the world for more than a century.
It brings joy to people through the music that it plays. It is the instrument family that pushed the
Jazz Swing era to be what it was. The soldiers would bring their Military Jazz bands over seas with
them to play for them when they were sitting at base. Other countries started playing jazzmusic
because they heard it and liked it too.
The alto saxophone is in a family of 4 main instruments, but there are a few more that are
uncommon. There is the a soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone. There is still the bass, sub contra

Marriage To Survive In Daniel Defoe’S Moll Flanders. Although
Marriage to Survive in Daniel Defoe s Moll Flanders
Although the central concerns of women during the eighteen century was of courtship and
marriage, social graces, and dignity, money was also a very important concern. Many of the female
characters in eighteenth century novels are portrayed as intensely aware of finances and markedly
interested in the getting and keeping of money (Scheuermann, 311). Daniel Defoe s fictional
heroine, Moll Flanders is always thinking in economic terms and looking for financial stability. She
must base her romantic relationships on money, rather than mutual affection. Marriage, for Moll, is
a way to survive. This suggests that women could not be self sufficient in England s eighteenth

The first time that he gave her five guineas, she admitted, I was more confounded with the Money
than I was before with the Love, and began to be so elevated, that I scarce knew that ground that I
stood on (62). When he eventually gave her one hundred guineas, she made no more Resistance
to him, but let him do just what he pleas d; and as often as he pleas d (24). She did not think of
the money as a bribe to keep her quiet, but more as evidence of that the young man truly loved
her. She does not realize that he only sees her as a sexual escapade.
In eighteenth century England, everyone was incredibly conscious of their social positions.
Consequently, the rich rarely married the poor (Heyck, 47 64). Thus, when the younger brother
(Robin) told everyone that he was in love with Moll, his family, and even Moll, thought that he

she finally understood that the man that she loved truly did not want to marry her. Defoe, who, in

Who Is Tom Brady A Hero
Tom Brady can be defined as a hero in many ways. Tom Brady has been an underdog throughout
his life. Whether one is talking about his high school, college, or NFL career, he has been
considered a long shot, and many people doubted his capabilities. Tom Brady was born on August
3rd, 1977. Since he was very young he attended San Francisco 49ers games, and after watching
Joe Montana, he fell in love with the sport and the quarterback position. Since that day, his football
career took off, and the rest is history ( Tom Brady2017). Tom Brady is related to the Greek
Heroes, Theseus and Achilles because he was not fearful and he showed his abilities when
starting his first season as quarterback because he won the super bowl, which relates to Theseus
and the Minotaur, and he got caught with deflate gate and got dragged around and got taken
advantage of, like what Achilles did to Hector after he beat him. Tom Brady was picked in the
sixth round of the 2000 draft by the New England Patriots. He did not start at Michigan until his
junior year, and he did not have the physical build of a starting quarterback ( Tom Brady 2017).
He was tall and lengthy, and lacked a strong arm, which made it difficult for him to compare to
others coming out of the draft that year. Because of his average abilities, he did not start his first
year. He backed up Drew Bledsoe. However, his chance finally came in his second year in the
NFL. In 2001 Drew Bledsoe got hurt, and Tom stepped in to fill his position ( Bledsoe Replaced
by Brady 2011). This is when Tom could really show himself off, and express what he could do.
He led the patriots to an 11 3 record in the regular season, and won the rest of the games in the
playoffs, including a super bowl upset against the Rams. Even if that is not remarkable enough,
he went on and had a 40 12 record through his next 3 seasons ( Tom Brady 2017). This shows his
abilities and many attributes, such as his leadership, his ability to not be afraid, and his mindset to
strive for greatness. This point is highly relatable to the Greek Mythologybook, Theseus. They are
relatable because the same attributes were expressed for Theseus as well as well as Tom Brady
throughout their life s. Theseus and the

African American Education History
The Declaration of Independence declared that all men were created equally. So why were people
not treated like it? We can conclude that they were not treated the same because African Americans
faced slavery, segregation, and other things that proved they were treated differently from
Caucasians. We had the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth amendment put into place to make the
life of an African Americaneasier. However, just because there were amendments to help them, does
not mean people listened. In 1909 the National Association for the Advancement of Colored people
was founded. This was one of the biggest organizations made to help African Americans. The people
working for the organization tried fighting laws to protect African Americans.... Show more content

What if it never went to the courts? What if they voted against it again and again? The world
would be a much different place today. African Americans and whites would still probably be
separated. No one would know any better to not put them together. There would most likely be a
lot more fighting in the world than there is today. And you would not see caucasians and African
Americans being friends like they are today. It is weird to imagine what the world would be like
without this court case happening. But because of it, the world has become a much better place,
and it helped people become a lot more friendly. Because of this court case, African Americans
were able to get the same education as whites. Thus increasing their knowledge. Before Brown v.
Board of Education, one and forty African Americans would get a college degree. Now, one in five
African Americans will graduate college. Not only did schools become unsegregated, but so did the
work place. Both African Americans and caucasians had the equal opportunity to work wherever
the pleased, no matter what color skin tone they were. However, even with all the better things in
the world, there are still problems with equality. According to reports, whites are finishing college at
a much faster rate than African Americans. And because of this, median income for African
American families still remains only about three fifths that for whites. This is not much better than
it was

The Concepts Of Big Data Analysis Essay
Abstract The important goal of this paper is to provide an overview on the concepts of big data
analysis. Furthermore the growing emergence and importance of qualitative data analysis in the
field of business intelligence and data science is broadly explained .It also marks out effective
tools and techniques used to obtain prominent qualitative analytic results on the global level.
Moreover we have concluded on the basis of comparison of the tools depending on various
factors and parameters by representing it on a tabular manner. I.INTRODUCTION Today, the
data consumption rate is tremendously expanding, the amount of data generated and stored is
nearly imperceivable and highly growing. Big data that is nothing but a large volume of
unstructured or structured data that runs in and out in to a business on daily basis. This big
data is analyzed in order to achieve prominent business growth and improved business strategies
[1]. Every year there is at least 40% increase in the amount of data growth on global level,
leading to which companies have started adopting new data analytic techniques and tools and
also have stepped ahead moving their data towards the cloud for their big data analytic
requirements and for better analysis.[3][2] In big data analysis it is not the amount of data that is
essential but how efficiently we handle, process and analyze it is the key factor. Big data analysis
doesn t revolve around how much data we occupy, it deals with how well you make use

Analysis Of Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Dream deferred The poem I will discuss today is Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes it is
located on page 620 of the textbook. The theme of this poem is postponing your dreams can lead
to destruction in your life. The tone of this poem is uncertainty. The author is very uncertain of
what happens to a dream deferred. The two elements of figurative language the author used in
this poem to convey the theme are simile and metaphor. The first element of figurative language
I will discuss is simile. A simile is when you compare two unlike things using like or as. This is
shown multiply times throughout the poem for example it says, Does it dry up like a raisin in the
sun. The author is comparing a dream deferred to a dried up raisin a raisin is already dry but if left

because he is asking a question he is not telling the reader a dream deferred dries up like a raisin

question when their uncertain about something. Another example of a simile used in the poem
was Or fester like a sore and then run? This takes us back to the theme and tone if you have sore
you want it to dry up, so it can heal but if it festers and run that means it is infected and will take
longer to heal. (Spa.walsingham.org, n.d) . The dream that festers becomes infected with the

incarceration and overcrowded jails and prisons? The slogan ?Three Strikes You re Out? was for
a toughening stand on crime endorsed by the federal government in the 1980 s. Historically
speaking, this rhetoric stood as the ideology behind the War on Drugs as a logical and necessary
response to a rise in drug crime and the emergence of crack cocaine in inner city communities

Resource Depletion And Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Lifecycle Analysis
Background
The content of analysis will examine paper. It will look at the harvesting of the materials,
production, distribution, and finally the waste. This lifecycle analysis is to explain a consumer
product s life from production to waste. This is to show the environmental effects that the products
has during its life time. A few of the environmental impacts that will be focused on is resource
depletion and greenhouse gas emissions. These were chosen because of the chain reaction they can
cause. Greenhouse gases are known to be linked to climate change, which is a global problem so
the impacts of these emissions are on a very large scale. Resource depletion is another problem
because more than one species rely on forest. Therefore, the depletion of it is not only bad to
humans but the other organisms that use it for their survival. If this resource was to be
completely used up, then it could lead to a loss of biodiversity which could be bad for the local
ecosystem. In addition, since some ecosystems are linked together the loss of one could have a
huge effect on another causing a domino effect. LCA Inventory Trees are a good source of
paper; there are other materials that can work but for the scope of this paper I ll only focus on
trees. As described in figure 1, the first step is to harvest the trees. To do this, usually heavy
machinery or chainsaws are employed to do the cutting. But this process

When the Korean war broke out in June of 1950, MacArthur quickly dispatched troops to meet

the invaders had been pushed back almost to the Chinese boarder. (Funk Wagnalls) Through all
of this incredible and impactful combat experience, MacArthur saw terrible tragedies and
incredible victories. It is from these intense life experiences that MacArthur draws on when
writing this speech. General Arthur MacArthur was truly a man who devoted his life to this belief
in country he loved and the institution that helped him become the great man he was. For this
acceptance speech, MacArthur chooses to focus on the motto of West Point, duty, honor, country

audience are the West Point Cadets who will be instilled with these three words during their time
at the academy. MacArthur s goal is to inspire these cadets, and to show them the power that
adhering to this model and the ideals of the academy can have on ones life. To do this most
effectively MacArthur begins with an idea that will work to add to the credibility of his entire
argument. This idea is that the speaker possess neither that eloquence of diction, that poetry of

conveniences and values.
Question 2: What are the causes and consequences of BMW s quality problems with newly

parts. They are the specialist for the products. They have more experience and skills in their filed.
Using them in development process let them fix our problems in advance. After completing the
final design approval, let them supply the parts for commercial production, too. It will make the
relationships between BMW and vendors more cooperative and friendly. 3. Shorten the period
from pilot production to commercial production. Apply pre production tools in pilot production as
early as possible and get rid of and shorten the period of factory pilot production if possible.
Regarding future development projects, same changes should be applied, I think.
Question 4: What changes would you recommend in the way BMW develops new models? What
attributes of newly launched products would you expect to improve as a result of these
recommendations? Which attributes might deteriorate?
Answer: I recommend like; 1. Design for production. In BMW, designing is the first thing in
development. However I think, design people don t consider efficient production engineering. If
they make production engineering into design consideration, the development process will be more
efficient and quality problems and period will decrease. However the creativity can be injured. 2.

Pros And Cons Of Cyber Warfare
3.1 Cyber Warfare
Richard A. Clark, an expert in security sector governance in his book Cyber War (May 2010),
defines Cyber War as an act of penetration of a country against other computer network with the
intent of causing damage and disruption. The Economist magazine explained that cyber war is the
fifth domain of warfare, after land, sea, air and space. Cyber warfare, (also known as cyber war and
Cyber warfare), is a war with the use of computer networks and the Internet in cyberspace (cyber

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, in both Western developed

than the people living on the island of Antigua. This quote relates to tourism being a new form of

Lost Colony Of Roanoke Essay
The Lost Colony of Roanoke
Queen Elizabeth I desired to establish a permanent English settlement in America, known then as
the New World. In the summer of 1587 a group of nearly 120 men and women from England
arrived on Roanoke Island, one of a chain of barrier islands now known as the Outer Banks, off
the coast of what is now known as North Carolina. This group of settlers set sail from England with
the mission of making the Queen s wishes a reality.
John White was appointed Governor of the colony by Sir Walter Raleigh. Sometime later,
Governor White set sail for England to gather supplies for the colony. Before he had left for
England, White and the colonists had discussed leaving the settlement and founding the city of
Raleigh on the mainland, so the fact that the colonists were no longer in the settlement would not
have been surprising to White. The colonists also worked out signals to communicate with those
who were coming to their assistance. For example, if they left due to an attack, they were
supposed to carve a Maltese cross over their doorposts to signal that they were in distress.
Alternatively, if they left to try to find a more suitable place, they were supposed to carve the
names of the areas they would be traveling through so that White would be able to find them upon

If the colonists had been killed in the settlement there would have been corpses or skeletons on
the ground or at best burial sites. Those signs would have been a clear indication of the
eradication of the colony. In the absence of their Governor, there may have been a power struggle
among the settlers. Perhaps the settlers did split to forage or meet with traders and decided to
remain in areas where supplies were more

The Violation Of Copyright Infringement
On the 26th of June, 2015 the Copyright (Online Infringement) amendment was assented, and came
into effect the day after. The laws that this amendment includes aim to allow copyright holders to
make requests that online locations hosting their copyrighted content be blocked, regardless of if
the websites are hosted on Australian soil or not. The amendment also allows copyrightholders to
request that the details of piraters be handed over by Internet Service Providers. However, the
effectiveness of these laws has come into question, especially after the limited usage of the new
laws, especially for perpetrators of copyright infringement. The Copyright Infringement amendment

The amendment was then moved to the senate, where it finally passed both houses on the 22nd of
June, after going through three readings in the senate. The amendment was then assented on the
26th of June, where it came into effect a day later, an unusually quick period of time for an
amendment to come into effect after being passed. For years now, copyright infringement has been
a problem not just for Australia, but for the world. As a result, there was bipartisan support from
both sides of parliament, and the amendment passed with a strong majority behind it. Both parties
were keen to vote for the amendment to be seen by the public as supporting the rights of those who
hold ownership of copyrighted content. Being a form of thievery, many believe that this
amendment should have been passed regardless of any consequences. However, many have
criticized the amendment, believing that the law was not passed with the intention of stopping
copyright, but to create a means for the government to block websites they find troubling, to both
their reputations and operations. Though the general public weren t aware of this, and as such, the
amendment received public support as well, without much criticism. However, there are various
different flaws in the amendment, that were brought up by people against it. Specifically the lack
of definition of many important aspects of the amendment. For example, there is a

Selecting The Female Reproductive System Essay
Selecting the female reproductive system to present was slightly awkward with me being a
male. In addition to having to have a presentation in a public forum having to provide visual aids
of the female reproductive system to my fellow classmates. I didn t look forward to that at all.
With that being said, I moved forward with my research on the pathologies of the female
reproductive system. I did not take long at all to recognize some familiar terminology related to
the pathological anomalies of the female reproductive system that I was familiar with.
Pathological terminology such as Fibroids (tissue overgrowth) and Endometriosis (pain in the
uterine lining). I had a few people close to me who have suffered from complications of those
pathological disorders which led to the loss of pregnancy. At different moments in our life at one
time or another will have someone close to us experiencing some issues of the female reproductive
system. Having the knowledge of the causes, symptoms, complications and treatments will enable
us to not only understand what they are going through but with that knowledge we can comfort
them as well. Having a working knowledge of the female reproductive system is beneficial in
many areas. In addition to helping those close to us, as a radiology technologist we can better assist
or patients.
The female reproductive system consists of ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and
breast. The breast is not a primary organ in the female

The Great Emancipator And A Tough Political Opponent...
Henry Clay, known as The Great Emancipator and a tough political opponent versus Andrew
Jackson in the 1832 election, made his opinion on Native American removal known in 1829
during his State of the Union Address (Biography.com Editors). Clay was in a position of great
power, as he was one of the first modern politician who had carefully create an image for himself
, which boosted his popularity in office, even against a famous opponent, such as Jackson. To
convey his audience, he uses literary devices, such as logos, by comparing the Indians as a
lower form of life. Despite his powerful position, he lost the electoral college s presidential vote
by a large margin, 219 49 (Courier). In Clay s speech On Native Americans, where he addresses
his plans of Indian removal west of the Mississippi, he uses ethos, logos, and others opinions to
take a stand against Native Americans.
Historical Background/Purpose of Speech Earlier serving a lawyer in the western United States, or
frontier, Clay never had much of a plan for a career in politics. He was born on April 12, 1777,
in Hanover County, Virginia (Biography.com Editors). As a son of a wealthy reverend, and the
seventh of nine children, he had a special link to American History. As the age of 3, he witnessed
the place he had called home, be broken into and damaged by British troops (Hopkins). Later, he
took his bar exam and was admitted in 1797 in Virginia. Clay moved to Lexington, Kentucky. Not

Tell Tale Heart Literary Analysis
Imagine an elderly man with the eye of a vulture that has the power to vex a man forcing him to
become a murderer. In Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe this unlikely scenario comes to life. A
young man contracts a disease after the elder roommate s eye possesses him. This disease heightens
his senses so he can hear the voices from heaven, hell, and everything in between. Poe creates a
dreadful and abhorrent story through characterization, literary techniques, and an insidious plot.
Poe uses characterization to develop realistic characters readers can relate to. From the start the
narrator does not hide his methodical side well. He stalks the old man for seven consecutive nights,
taking an hour each time to open the door wide enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator was insidious before and after the murder. He has a preconceived plan but object there
was none. Passion there was none (Poe 303). The narrator said the old man s eye vexed him but
he could not be vexed if the old man slept with his eyes closed and as a result he could not
commit the murder for seven nights. For these nights he was calm and light hearted. He is
laughing during his stalking mission. The giggling portrayed the narrator as carefree even though
he was aware of the deed he was about to commit. With this knowledge he was patient, as if he
had all the time in the world. The narrator devoted countless hours to stalking the elderly man
because he was intrigued in the murder. On the night of the murder everything changes; he feels
surges of adrenaline he mistakes as power. The narrator is empowered and building confidence. He
carries the confidence even when the policemen arrive. He seems cool, calm, and collected, For
what had [the narrator] to fear? (Poe 306). He knows the policemen cannot find evidence because
he performed the perfect murder. The policemen are convinced by his calm manner. Soon after the
narrator seems pale and feels a headache. His powers hear a pounding making the narrator grow
angry as the policemen continue talking merrily. He feels as though they are taunting him and show
no respect to the pain he is enduring. The narrator cannot take any more pain so he confesses the

The Magician s Nephew Research Paper
The Magician s Nephew The Magician s Nephew is an amazing story written by C.S.Lewis. He
was a famous writer,
and he wrote the Chronicles of Narnia. These books are based of the Bible, and Aslan, a strong
lion, is God in Narnia. This paper will be uncovering the similarities, differences and viewpoints
about God and Aslan.
Aslan has many similarities with God. In the Magician s Nephew, Aslan created everything in
Narnia (Lewis 123). God created the Earth and everything it contained (Genesis 1). They both
created and rule over the worlds. (Lewis 9 10), (Whole Bible). Another trait they both have is
they are merciful (Lewis 12 13) (Bible).

creatures do not talk, except for the humans (Genesis). Aslan chose special animals to talk and to
have great minds (Lewis 9). Aslan created every animal, but he never created humans as God did
(Lewis 9 10), (Genesis). In the book, Aslan did make two humans rule, but he did not create
them, they came into his world (Lewis 11).
Now the viewpoint, and the answer for me is yes, I do believe Aslan is God. One reason I
believe is that there is actually a song that sings God is like a lion, (Newsboys song). I also
believe this because in The Magician s Nephew Aslan quotes, You know better than you think
you know,... (Lewis 11). This is proving to me that Aslan is God. I have one more reason;
Aslan is a lion. (Lewis 9). In the Bible, God is referred to as The Lion and the Lamb , or

1. Dietary supplements can help ease psoriasis symptoms from within. Fish oil, milk thistle, vitamin

The Effects Of Osha s Mandate Under Section 3 ( 8 ) Essay
The Supreme Court was requested to rule on the cotton dust standard using the OSHA s mandate
under section 3(8) whose objective was to protect workers from the exposure of hazardous
materials. In the Department of Industrial Union, the Benzene decision decided by a divided court
invalidated the OSHA s benzene standard. According to the judges, OSHA had to base its findings
on substantial evidence rather than mere assumptions. These records should show that occupational
exposure to the regulated substance presents significant health risk (Schulte, et al., 2014).
Apparently, the American Textile Manufacturers did not question the validity of the OSHA s
findings before determining the risks associated with the exposure of cotton dust while working.
However, the personnel in this industry concurred that those exposed to cotton dust contract
Byssinosis. In their opinion, a less stringent standard would be enough to protect the workers and
still be economically feasible. Justice Brennan and Justice Stephens upheld the cotton dust standard
by writing their opinion for a five person majority. One of the major queries was whether the labor
secretary was mandated by the OSH Act in promulgating a section 6(b) (5) standard to determine
whether the cost of the standard bear a reasonable relationship to its benefits. This issue had been
evaded by the Court in Benzene, aside from Powell s lone concurrence (Crowley, 1987). Justice
Brennan rejected the argument raised on the requirement of

Ancient Greek Government
My essay will be about the Greek civilization about 4000 years ago. I will be explaining the
government and how it affects the modern day. These paragraphs will be involving the explanation
of the three organization to make the Greek government. The three will be including Ekklesia,
Boule, and Dikasteria. All three will have their own paragraph explaining how they work on their

The method of the ancient Greeks government were that the Greeks were a Democracy. A
democracy is a system of governments by the whole population or all the eligible members of a
state, typically through elected representatives. The years 507 B.C, a leader of Athens,
Cleishenes, made known that a new system were to come called demokratia (ruled by the
people). Split into three different establishments; the first being The Ekklesia known for writing
laws and dealing with foreigners involving the Sovereign governing body of Athens. The
meetings were held about 40 times a year on a hillside in in an Acropolis of one called Pnyx. Any
citizen that is an Adult male can attend the meetings of the Ekklesia. At the meetings they would

The Advocacy Groups That Stand For Pro Choice
Over several centuries and in different cultures, there is a rich history of women helping each
other to abort. Until the late 1800s, women healers in Western Europe and the U.S. provided
abortions and trained other women to do so, without legal prohibitions. There were many
different ways they attempted to do this procedure; such as a pennyroyal tea, which according to
Thorpe, is toxic at just five grams. They believed that jumping and kicking yourself in the
buttocks would also make a women have a miscarriage. Sitting over a pot of hot onions, and using
camel saliva, ants, and deer hair was also a popular way to have an abortionback then. In today s
society abortion has become a major social issue that will never be resolved. It is a topic that
some people avoid in our society. They would rather pretend it does not excite than recognize it
as part in our society. The two advocacy groups that stand firm in their moral beliefs are
conservatives who stand for pro life and liberals who stand for pro choice. They do not take this
issue lightly, there has been countless debates about whether it is murder or not. However, it
always ends the same way with now solution. There are four major points to look at when
discussing the issue of abortion, legal precedence, human rights, religion and when life beings. It is
important to look at what functions do these point play in society and what conflicts it has in
society. During the past 40 years, federal courts, specifically the

The Importance Of Tom Brady s Letter To The Patriots
Last July, a few weeks before the New England Patriots started training camp, I got a call from
Donald Yee, the agent in Los Angeles who has represented Tom Brady since he entered the
N.F.L. in 2000. It had been four years since I first told Yee that I was interested in writing about
Brady, even though I typically cover politics. I grew up in the Boston suburbs, rooted for the
Patriots as a kid and even possessed vague memories of watching the team play at Fenway Park,
one of their homes before they settled into the nowhereland of Foxborough, Mass., in 1971. My
friend Josh and I once wrote a letter to the team s young quarterback, Jim Plunkett, inviting him to
dinner at Josh s house. (Plunkett never responded.) Their teams were mostly bad, their owner was
an embarrassment, their stadium a dump. Yet the Patriots always retained a lovable haplessness
about them, with their cute minuteman logos, their A.F.L. lineage and the identity crisis that comes
from being named after an entire region instead of a city or state. (The Seattle Seahawks are not the
Pacific Northwest Seahawks.)

coach, Bill Belichick, made Brady his starting quarterback in 2001. Since then, the Patriots have

warned that once the season started he would be on Belichick time, or hard to get to. As it turned

Essay The Elizabethan Monarchy
The Elizabethan Era was from 1533 (the birth of Queen Elizabeth 1) till 1603 (her death). Queen
Elizabeth was the one who was responsible for what happened to the country during this era. For
Queen Elizabeth, being part of the Elizabethan Royalty was a tough and challenging task. She
played an important role within the religious conflicts for power between England and it s
neighboring countries, had the constant pressure to produce a successor, and had to endure sexual
discrimination for being a woman on the throne of England without a male counterpart. After King
Henry 8th s death, there was a dispute over who should rule over England, Queen Elizabeth or

These people were closely associated with Mary Queen of Scots for it included Mary s mother,
Mary of Guise. At the time the Guises had bigger problems to worry about than the Elizabethan
throne. This is when the Scottish Factor came into action. For Elizabeth s good fortune the Scottish
Presbyterian Church had despised Catholicism and therefore gave Queen Elizabeth their support of
her claim to the throne. With the support that Queen Elizabeth needed she was able to start planing
a military intervention to Scotland which would end up in a war with France. An intervention is the
interference by a country in another s affair. Elizabeth signed a treaty with Scottish rebels in which
she agreed to have an open intervention if the Scottish Protestant lords would protect Elizabeth in
the event that the French invaded. In March of 1560 war began and the months that followed
France had threatened to ally with Spain if England refused to surrender. It wasn t until thousands
had lost their lives did the religious war end with a treaty, the Treaty of Edinburgh. The treaty was
signed July 6, 1560, confirming Queen Elizabeth s right to the throne. It was through this struggle
that Queen Elizabeth was even able to get to claim her birth right. Her decisions did not only affect
her country but also the neighboring countries. The importance of a successor during the

The Role Of Fame And Fame s Influence On American Culture
The role of fame and celebrities heavily influence American culture. Some people may be eager for
a celebrity status or be drawn to one who has achieved it for reasons not fully understood. When the
word fame is thought of, often what comes to mind is the money and the attention that comes with
it. However, fame can also bring pain through addiction and the publics lack of acknowledgement
that celebritiesare peoplewho share the same struggles and stress. America s obsession with celebrity
culture effects the attitudes, behaviors, and the overall views of an average person, and also
those of the celebrity themselves. Because celebrities live in a different world compared to ours,
it can easily make our lives seen unpleasantly dull in comparison. Therefore, it s easy to become
obsessed with a life that is not our own. Americas obsession with celebrities have created ways to
make it possible for anyone to become famous through reality tv shows, but there are rules as to
what must be done to get there. Competition shows like Survivor, American Idol, Americas Next
Top Model, and Hells Circus pit contestants in no holds barred battles for supremacy and
financial reward. However, talent doesn t always play the biggest role in winning on these shows;
contestants are rewarded for being ruthless, exploitative, and vain. Nearly all of them highlight bad
behavior, giving extra camera time to cast members who blow up, break down, or scheme to grab
every advantage. As Omarosa

How To Write An Essay About The Battle Of Chattanooga
Patience Hardy
HIST 2010
November 25th, 2015
The Battle of Chattanooga, that ensued November 23rd through the 25th, 1863, was a Civil War
battle that followed the The Battle of Chickamauga. Since the Union had lost the Battle of
Chickamauga, they retreated to Chattanooga. However, the Confederate army followed in an effort
to starve the Union soldiers and take over the land ( Battle of Chattanooga 1.) The Battle of
Chattanooga ultimately forced the confederates back into Georgia and paved the way for William
T. Sherman s Atlanta campaign.
In September of 1863, the Union army, led by General William Rosecrans, took a loss to the
Confederate army, who was led by General Braxton Bragg, at the Battle of Chickamauga ( Battle of
Chickamauga 1 ). After the Union decided to retreat to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

carry out a limited renaissance, however, Thomas turned it into a full blown attack on Orchard

On the evening of November 24th, Grant sent instructions for Thomas to tell Hooker. Grant wanted
Hooker to, if it could have been maintained with a small force, move up the mountain, which would
put the division of soldiers in a lot more danger than Thomas thought necessary, so instead, Thomas

On the 24th of November, 1863 at 9:30 PM Thomas said, Be in readiness to advance as early as

Similarities Of Grendel And Beowulf
This essay is a character analysis that compares and contrast the two main characters of the epic
Beowulf . The essay informs the reader of the traits the two characters have in common including
their cocky personalities and their impossible strength. It also mentions the many opposing
characteristics of the two characters including how brave or cowardly they are, and weather or not
they want to help or hurt people. Many direct quotes from the epic Beowulfare also within the essay
to help support each allegation, giving proof to the characteristics identified.
Compare and Contrasting Beowulf and Grendel
There is a hero and a villain in every story, we have: Batman and The Joker, Spider Man and The
Green Goblin, Thor and Loki, and of course Beowulf and Grendel. In the epic Beowulf our two
main characters are Beowulf the hero of the story, and Grendel the evil demon who terrorized the
world. In the epic, Beowulf and Grendel are noticeably different, but at the same time alike in
many ways. The people in the story may not have notice the similarities, but they could not be
hidden from the peering eye of the reader. In the story Beowulf was was brave, while Grendel was
cowardly, Beowulf was helpful, while Grendel only wanted to hurt people; in comparison, they
were both unnaturally strong and very arrogant.
To begin, one of the many ways that Beowulf was different than Grendel is that Beowulf was
brave. Every night Grendel snuck into Herot Hall to destroy King Hrothgar s men. He did this
while hiding in the shadows, sneaking around in the dead of night, and attacking while the men
we asleep and at there most vulnerable. These are not the characteristics the brave, these are the
characteristics of a foul, loathsome, cowardly beast. Mean while, Beowulf liked to meet a
problem head on, in this case the problem was Grendel himself. Determined Beowulf sailed to
Denmark to defeat Grendel, telling Hrothgar that he will take Grendel s life with his bare hands.
As told in the story, That mighty protector of men/ Meant to hold the monster till it s life/ leaped
out (Raffel, 1963, l. 366 368). And when Beowulf got the chance to do just that, Grendel took the
cowards road, Grendel s one thought

  • 2. Synthes Case Synthes Case Study Team S Santiago Sanchez Villalba Bharat Pawar Morris Li Jose Llanos Tiia Paananen What are the different threats to the sustainability of Synthes` competitive advantage? Synthes has several threats to consider in the near and upcoming future. The first threat we can talk about is with regards to imitation. Imitation is a big deal in the internal fixation device industry. Synthes has become the leader in this market due to several competitive advantages, for example the affiliation with AO, which surgeons take as a sign of confidence. These advantages have been able to sustain them with huge market share and very high sales during the last 20 years. They have also created other competitive advantages within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The threat level is still low because the first trial of bioresorbable failed and the second generation has not yet fully convinced surgeons. But most doctors seem open to the idea or already use some of the bioresorbable derivatives to substitute some of Synthes` products today. The difference from the first generation bioresorbable products to the second one improved drastically and the third generation could eventually be almost as effective as today s solutions. If Synthes is not fully prepared there could be a very big threat to the company not only in sales but also reputation because they are known for being the top dog and always offering the newest products for internal fixation. A company with a similar strategy (affiliation to AO, good sales reps, high quality product) could not only imitate but also substitute if the product part were to be able to be effective and accepted by doctors. Although there are threats in a competitive industry such as this one, we believe that Synthes has enough actual and probable competitive advantages to sustain throughout time as a leader in the internal fixation industry. When we discuss the S Curve for Synthes, we could see that bioresorbable technology is slow and improving poorly because it is not understood quite well. If anybody gets it right we could see the acceleration process and this is where Synthes would be highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pericles Funeral Oration Essay Pericles of the Funeral Oration outlines his ideal of Athens, and what makes an Athenian, which was his ideal person. Plato in the Apology, Crito, and the Phaedo describes the trial and execution of Socrates. Athens after the second Peloponnesian War is cling to an unstable democracy, and extremely fearful of anything that threatens their way of life. Pericleswould view this Athens as a shell of its former self. This can be best seen through the trial and execution of Socrates. Socrates could be described as the ideal Athenian, he strove to make Athens and its people better, yet he was executed for having different ideas. Pericles given the opportunity to evaluate Athens and Socrates, during this time, could make the argument that Socrates is akin to his ideal of Athens and that Athens, as it stood, was more closely related to Sparta.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had suffered defeat in the second Peloponnesian Warand were grappling with the struggle of stabilizing their fragile democracy. They believed that something like political philosophy could destabilize Athens beyond repair. This is part of what drove them to execute Socrates. Socrates was brought up on charges of corrupting the youth, making the worse argument better, and teaching things of the earth and the sky. During the trial, Socrates had every justification, but in the end, it was not enough to save his life. Socrates argues that the laws are intended to make Athenians better people and that if an old man wandering around asking questions can corrupt the youth, then what sort of youth must they be. He argues that if Athens is so unstable that they cannot withstand questions then they are already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the 1950s, Pepsi evolved from the low cost price leader to a more lifestyle drink approach. For example, as Americans became more health conscious, Pepsi introduced slogans such as The Light Refreshment and Refreshing Without Filling. Other new advertising campaigns included slogans such as Be Sociable, Have a Pepsi and Now Its Pepsi, For Those Who Think Young to concentrate on a younger market. It was this younger target market and the post war baby boom generation that set the stage for Pepsi s long lasting brand image. It all started with Pepsi advertiser Alan Pottasch, who recognized the different nature of the newest generation of consumers. Whereas consumers before the war were more cautious and price conscious, the post war baby boomer generation was carefree and hopeful. Pepsi once again capitalized on the changing environment, and under Pottasch launched the Pepsi Generation campaign in 1963. The campaign was an advertising breakthrough as it helped to set a new standard for advertising in America. The ads portrayed happy Americans living the American dream with their Pepsis, of course. More than likely, these patients will receive a prescription for antibiotics, but should they? Most acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs), do not require an antibiotic, the symptoms will resolve themselves over time without antibiotic treatment. The Hawthorne Effect or an observer effect acknowledges that both physicians and patients were fully aware they were participating in a quality improvement project. The project would have been more efficient if the participants were unaware they were being evaluated. When individuals believe they are not being observed the results tend to be more trustworthy. This paper will contain information about hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, the parts of the paper will talk about; the pathophysiology, the signs and symptoms, and the care priorities for each disorder. Read on to understand the two diseases discussed above. Hyperglycemia means high sugar or glucose. The foods we eat contain glucose; insulin is a hormone that moves glucose into cells to give energy. When a body doesn t make enough insulin or the body can t use it in the right way then hyperglycemiaoccurs. The symptoms that come with hyperglycemia are as follows: increase thirst, increased urination, fatigue or overly exhausted, blurred vision, frequent infections, slow healing of wounds, and unexplained weight loss. Symptoms discussed above don t occur until the glucose level exceeds 200 mg/dl. These symptoms develop slowly over several days or weeks, the longer the level stays high the more serious the condition becomes. It is very important to treat hyperglycemia because if this disease is left untreated dangerous complications can occur including Cardiovascular Disease, Neuropathy, kidney failure, Cataracts, bone and joint problems, and teeth and gum infections. Analysis and Critique of Reading Assignment 1 Paper Limits of Instruction Level Parallelism In this report the author provides quantifiable results that show the available parallelism. The report defines various terminologies like Instruction Level parallelism, dependencies, Branch Prediction, Data Cache Latency, Jump prediction, Memory address alias analysis etc. used clearly. A total of eighteen test programs with seven models have been examined and the results show significant effects of the variations on the standard models. The seven models reflect parallelism that is available by various compiler/architecture techniques like branch prediction, register renaming etc. The lack of branch prediction means that it finds intra block ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though this is a good way to increase the available parallelism, but loop unrolling schemes have difficulty in scheduling instructions efficiently with variable latency dependencies. The new techniques of dynamic history based approach to increase parallelism is branch prediction allow us to benefit from a large branch predictor, enhancing success rates that are still improving slightly even when we are using a 1 megabit predictor. The fair model is relatively insensitive to the size of the predictor, though even a tiny 4 bit predictor improves the mean parallelism by 50%. The same is evident in case of the Great model wherein the three most parallel programs are quite insensitive to the size of the predictor. • 17. Animal Morality And Master Morality agiarNietzsche is one of the most famous, complex, baffling, and misunderstood philosophers of all time. Nietzsche begins his ethics with the proposition that there are only two basic types of morality: slave morality and master morality. These types of morality Nietzsche proposes were initially formed when society was not actually made up of masters and slaves. In a society where masters were completely free and slaves simply had to do whatever their masters said. Based on their respective situations Nietzsche argues these two groups of people came up with two very different types of morality. Now of course there are no longer literal masterand slaves in today s society. However nietzche proposes well masters and slaves no longer exist but the moral system they came up with do. Therefore if we are to understand and evaluate morality as it exists today, we must investigate morality as it was originally defined by master and slaves. Masters are totally free. They do what they want, to whom that want, and whatever they want. How it is such a person in such a situation begin to think about morality. Nietzsche proposes a person in such a situation would begin by saying that whatever it is the approval of our desire is good. We can imagin such a list of thing such a master might approve of . he will no doubt desire to show off his courage during battle to keep power over his slaves and it demonstrates his honour in front of his fellow master. Presynaptic neurons conduct impulses toward the synapse while postsynaptic neurons conduct away from the synapse. The electric impulse move from the first neuron, along the axon, to the synapse at the synaptic knobs. Secretion of chemical transmitter into the synaptic nerve depolarizes the membrane of the subsequent neuron. In its unexcited state, a neuron retains a resting membrane potential. When the membrane potential is excited, the arrival of an action potentialat the synaptic knob allows the neurotransmitters released into synaptic cleft to trigger an action potential in the postsynaptic neuron (McCance Huether, 2014). The central nervous system CNS is the main control center of the body that receives sensory input, organizes and synthesizes it then provides instructions for motor output to the rest of the body. It constitute of the brain and spinal cord. The brain consist of the cerebrum which regulates high level functioning such as thinking, and the cerebellum which maintains coordination. The midbrain, pons and medulla are part of the brain stem and they control lower level functioning such as respiration. Defined the word superstition, A superstition is a belief or behavior that s inconsistent with conventional science and attributes functional mental properties into non mental phenomenon. (L. 39 to 42) In other words, a superstition is doing something to get a better outcome. To start off, superstitions can make us feel like we are controlling our outcomes and that we are in control of the situations, that we have no control over. They re maintained in part by a phenomenon psychologists call the illusions of control. In certain circumstances, if you perform some action that can t possibly affect the outcome in any real sense, you have the feeling that you have control and that feels good better than just sitting and waiting. (L. 71 to 76) To simplify, superstitions help our brains relax and increase the chances of getting a desired outcome. • 25. Who Is Tom Brady A Hero Tom Brady can be defined as a hero in many ways. Tom Brady has been an underdog throughout his life. Whether one is talking about his high school, college, or NFL career, he has been considered a long shot, and many people doubted his capabilities. Tom Brady was born on August 3rd, 1977. Since he was very young he attended San Francisco 49ers games, and after watching Joe Montana, he fell in love with the sport and the quarterback position. Since that day, his football career took off, and the rest is history ( Tom Brady2017). Tom Brady is related to the Greek Heroes, Theseus and Achilles because he was not fearful and he showed his abilities when starting his first season as quarterback because he won the super bowl, which relates to Theseus and the Minotaur, and he got caught with deflate gate and got dragged around and got taken advantage of, like what Achilles did to Hector after he beat him. Tom Brady was picked in the sixth round of the 2000 draft by the New England Patriots. He did not start at Michigan until his junior year, and he did not have the physical build of a starting quarterback ( Tom Brady 2017). He was tall and lengthy, and lacked a strong arm, which made it difficult for him to compare to others coming out of the draft that year. Because of his average abilities, he did not start his first year. He backed up Drew Bledsoe. However, his chance finally came in his second year in the NFL. In 2001 Drew Bledsoe got hurt, and Tom stepped in to fill his position ( Bledsoe Replaced by Brady 2011). This is when Tom could really show himself off, and express what he could do. He led the patriots to an 11 3 record in the regular season, and won the rest of the games in the playoffs, including a super bowl upset against the Rams. Even if that is not remarkable enough, he went on and had a 40 12 record through his next 3 seasons ( Tom Brady 2017). This shows his abilities and many attributes, such as his leadership, his ability to not be afraid, and his mindset to strive for greatness. This point is highly relatable to the Greek Mythologybook, Theseus. They are relatable because the same attributes were expressed for Theseus as well as well as Tom Brady throughout their life s. The two elements of figurative language the author used in this poem to convey the theme are simile and metaphor. The first element of figurative language I will discuss is simile. A simile is when you compare two unlike things using like or as. This is shown multiply times throughout the poem for example it says, Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun. The Effects Of Osha s Mandate Under Section 3 ( 8 ) Essay The Supreme Court was requested to rule on the cotton dust standard using the OSHA s mandate under section 3(8) whose objective was to protect workers from the exposure of hazardous materials. In the Department of Industrial Union, the Benzene decision decided by a divided court invalidated the OSHA s benzene standard. According to the judges, OSHA had to base its findings on substantial evidence rather than mere assumptions. These records should show that occupational exposure to the regulated substance presents significant health risk (Schulte, et al., 2014). Apparently, the American Textile Manufacturers did not question the validity of the OSHA s findings before determining the risks associated with the exposure of cotton dust while working. However, the personnel in this industry concurred that those exposed to cotton dust contract Byssinosis. In their opinion, a less stringent standard would be enough to protect the workers and still be economically feasible. Justice Brennan and Justice Stephens upheld the cotton dust standard by writing their opinion for a five person majority. One of the major queries was whether the labor secretary was mandated by the OSH Act in promulgating a section 6(b) (5) standard to determine whether the cost of the standard bear a reasonable relationship to its benefits.
