Successfully navigating these challenges can result in an essay that informs readers about culture shock and resonates with those who have experienced it.
Writing an essay on the fall of Rome requires extensive research, critical analysis, and strong writing abilities. The decline of the Roman Empire was influenced by various economic, political, social, and cultural factors that must be identified and connected in a coherent narrative. Additionally, writers must present a nuanced perspective while acknowledging ongoing debates among historians about primary causes. Effectively organizing information in a clear introduction, body, and conclusion through careful planning and revision is also crucial for this challenging task. However, with dedication to researching, analyzing, and presenting the topic cohesively, one can explore this fascinating historical period.

2. The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV Essay
The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV
None of Shakespeare s plays are read more than the first and second parts of Henry IV.
Particularly in Henry IV Part I, Shakespeare writes chronologically historical and interesting to
follow events. The reader follows the chain of events with devotion and content eager to find out
what happens next. Even though the hero of the play is Prince Henry, or Hal as we know him, the
reader may find themselves more focused on Falstaff, one of the other major characters that
Shakespeare created for comical relief. He was a witty, self conscious, self centered companion of
the Prince. King Henry even criticized his eldest son for keeping company with such a low man.
Even though Hal is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prince Hal was the hero of the play, but Falstaff was the character to follow. (Johnson 235)
Hal s opposite was a peer to him, the younger of the Percy s Hotspur. Shakespeare properly
named this character Hotspur for he was indeed a character with a hot temper and passionate ideas
and actions. He longed for a one on one match with the Prince, which he did get at the end of the
play. Unfortunately for himself, he lost it and was eventually eliminated. Yet I would have to agree
with Johnson once again that Falstaff received the center attention of the reader.( Johnson 235 )
Sir John, or as he was commonly known in the play as Falstaff, was a knight to the King Henry.
He was a man of large proportions, indulging into the sweet things in life. He was a man of low
morale, as Johnson had noted in his essay. He was a coward and the viewer got to see that in the
robbery scene that was aforementioned above. He cared for nothing in life but to satisfy his
needs. He preyed upon the poor, he was always ready to cheat and lie. Yet we have grown an
attachment to him, for he is a character that we learn to like. Michael Goldman highlighted that
point in his Shakespeare and the Energies of Drama. When at the end of the Boar s Head Tavern
scene, when the viewer learns that the Sheriff is outside looking for the robbers, Prince Hal
defends the fat knight. However, we find Falstaff soundly asleep behind an array. This scene

There are many differences present between species in the animal kingdom. There are also many
variations of breeds, mutations within the same species, behavior, etc. Neil Shubin s Your Inner
Fish focuses on the similarities rather than differences of behaviors, variation in animal
psychology, and morphology because of habitat. This book emphasizes three types of evidence.
The first are the similarities between body parts of living creatures to compare common ancestry.
The second are the indications from microbiology to also compare common ancestry. Finally, the
details provided of the missing link between amphibians and fish. In the first couple of chapters of
his book, Shubin points out how organs in various creatures are extremely similar. He focuses in
on the resemblances in the design of the body, hands, heads, nose, eyes, and ears. As Shubin writes,
When you look into eyes, forget about romance, creation, and the windows into the soul. With their

Domestic Violence as a Social Problem Domestic violence or intimate partner violence has been a
social problem for almost as long as humans have inhabited the earth. Domestic violence is often
defined as a pattern of abusive tactics aimed to maintain power and control over an intimate partner,
such as physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse. Like many social problems, domestic
violencecan happen to anybody and can be perpetrated by anybody. It is generally accepted that as
many as 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violenceby an
intimate partner in their lifetime (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010). Furthermore, it
is believed that domestic violence impacts individuals with disabilities... Show more content on

This may be the result of the lack of differences among the help seeking behavior and requested
services of survivors across identities. For example, one study found that LGBTQ individuals
have sought help at rates similar to their cisgender, heterosexual counterparts (Turell Cornell
Swanson, 2005). With that being said, the study also reported a low rating of helpfulness of
service providers from this group (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). LGBTQ indidivuals reported
that domestic violence programs, police, attorneys, and clergy were the least helpful when
seeking help related to a violent incident, while family and friends were able to satisfy their
needs (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). While this could be interpreted as a lack of response
from these agencies regarding domestic violence towards LGBTQ individuals, it should also be
noted that some of these agencies receive low ratings of helpfulness from survivors across all
identities. For example, the police response to domestic violence has long been criticized by
survivors of partner violence (Li et al., 2015). In some ways, the police response to domestic
violence has even worsened since the implementation of VAWA with mandatory arrest policies
disproportionately impacting women and other minorities (Qtd. in Li et al., 2015; Sudbury,
2003). Furthermore, Chen Ullman predicted that the police response to sexual and domestic
violence is greatly influenced by myths perpetrated by rape culture such as disbelief of victims
(Chen Ullman, 2014). One benefit and service related to VAWA that has received a lot of
criticism from intersectional analysts is shelter services. Shelter services are typically gender
based services (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). Despite VAWA requiring an alternative service of
equal opportunity being offered, LGBTQ

5. The Sound And Music Industry
The Sound and Music Industry By Danielle Hutchinson Gates
Intro
In this assignment, I will be looking at the pros, cons strengths and weaknesses of the 4 main areas
of my study, these are artist management, music publishing companies, live music and Record
companies. Studying these 4 areas will allow me to understand the industry in more detail as I wish
to work in this industry. Knowing about these different areas of the music industrywill help my
current knowledge for the future.
Record Companies
A record label is a brand or trademark associated with the marketing of music recordings and
music videos. A record label can also be a publishing company. Together they manage the
production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion and copyright for sound recordings
and music videos. Talent scouts look for and develop new artists ( artists and repertoire or A R )
and maintain contracts with new and existing recording artists and their managers. The name
record label comes from the piece of paper in the centre of a record which displayed the name of
the company that made it.
Record Companies are very important in the recording industry. There are 2 types of record
companies, independent labels which are not funded by one of the major labels and major labels
which are, at present, Warner music group, Universal and Sony. These companies make up roughly
75% of the music market. Many artists or bands start with an

Try, if you would, to recall your last visit to a museum or other similar institution. Did you
immediately accept the information presented to you as fact? Did you stop to think about how a
particular exhibit represents a culture and whether or not it was accurate? Since their origin,
museums were created for the purpose of preservation and interpretation of the material culturethey
exhibit, and have been the most widely accepted method for the dissemination of information
pertaining to other cultures. That being said, there is an increasing amount of discourse today
questioning the value of museums and the ways in which their exhibition of material culture
actually serves to devalue or misrepresent their cultures of origin. For this research paper, I have
decided to focus in the collections of material culture present in the Beloit College Logan Museum
of Anthropologyand the Smithsonian Museum. First, I begin by sharing what I have learned about
the history surrounding the origins of museums. Next, I identify the ways in which museums
obscure and misrepresent the cultures they display through their exhibits either intentionally or
otherwise. Finally, I attempt to utilize what I have learned in order to compare the two institutions
and identify the ways in which they have taken steps to keep up with modern museological and
discourse.
To begin, preservation and interpretation, the concepts that form the basis of museums, originates

8. Alice Munro Character Analysis
Expectations placed on us Good or Bad? Our identity makes us who we are. How do we find it,
and, can others affect what we believe?
The thing that most people desire is their own identity. How we act, what we believe in, what we
are. But, some people change that and put expectations on it. These are all parts of who we are,
maybe you laugh like your mother or talk like your father. People affect who we are and set
expectations for us. In this story, author Alice Munro, through her character, shows how others
place expectations on her as a girl and how they affect her individual identity.
One major thing that affects our personal identity is the people around us, and the people that have
the most effect on us is our family. The main character s mother and grandmother pushes her to
act like a girl Her mother pushes the ideals of girls upon her. She was plotting now to get me to
stay in the house more, although she knew I hated it (because she knew I hated it) and keep me
from working for my father. Her mother wants her to stay in the house to do work. At this point
the main character doesn t really realize that perhaps her mother is lonely and isn t just pushing
her to act like a girl . And then I can use her more in the house, I heard my mother say. Her
grandmother is another influence in her life that she doesn t welcome. Like many Grandmothers

9. The Tokugawa And Meiji State Ruling Class And Officials
The Tokugawa and Meiji state ruling class and officials wished to impose their ideology onto their
subjects. The ruling class and officials hoped that this would assist them in their endeavors. Their
goals differed between time periods; however, one constant is the mechanism they used to
perpetuate their ideology, mythistory. In Tokugawa Japan, they used mythistory to create an
ideology based on many religions to justify the social hierarchy the officials created (1 professor).
The ВMeiji state used mythistory to obtain national support for industrialization and modernization.
These ideologies had many adverse effects on the lives of many peasants. In the Tokugawa period,
numerous peasants were harshly taxed, even when they did not have... Show more content on

They then would exchange this rice to merchants for currency (1). However, their means of
generating wealth were not stable; harsh weather conditions could severely hamper the output of
rice that their peasants could produce. This then decreases the number of tax that the Shogun could
levy upon their subjects because there is a limit on how much the Shogun can tax his subordinates
before they die from starvation. This caused a dilemma: The Shoguns needed to have an immense
amount of disposable wealth to be in a position to afford their lifestyle (1). Thanks to the expense of
their lifestyle, they forged loans with merchants, without an understanding of how interest rates
worked (1). As a result of their loans, many Shoguns increased the tax they imposed onto their
subordinates even though many of them barely had enough food for themselves. Therefore, the
luxurious lifestyle of the Shoguns coupled with their unstable income resulted in countless
hardships inflicted on their peasants. Many subjects of Shoguns participated in counter mythistory
because of the tribulations forced upon them by the Shoguns due to the social hierarchy and their
unsustainable lifestyles. The subjects of many Shoguns did not sit quietly when their benevolent
and merciful lord required their subjects to pay a ludicrous and unreasonable amount of tax during
famines. Countless of these subordinates lacked sufficient rice to even feed their

10. What Is The Similarities Of The Fourknocks In Co. Meath
This essay aims to compare and contrast the nature of the rituals that would have taken place at
any two of the sites that we encountered on our fieldtrip. The two megalithic sites that will be
compared and contrasted in this essay will be the passage tomb known as Fourknocks in Co.
Meath and the Proleek wedge tomb in Co. Louth. Both of these megalithic tombs characterise the
majority of the Irish landscape and are of great importance to archaeologists as they give us an
insight to the lifestyles and social structures of the societies that would have constructed these
wonderful megalithic sites.
Megalithic sites like Fourknocks and the Proleek wedge tomb are at the centre of controversy
within the archaeological profession. There is little or no doubt that these large stone structures
were erected in order to hold the remains of the dead but archaeologists would also like to believe
that there is more to these large stone structures then just having a funerary orientated purpose
(Brown, 1979). Other purposes that could be related to these monuments include, links to the spirit
world, astronomical, directional or calendrical purposes (Brown, 1979).

11. The Death Of Edgar Allan Poe
Nevermore
The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where
the one ends, and where the other begins?
~Edgar Allan Poe Throughout the history of our nation, few events have captivated the attention of
its people quite like the death of literary legend, Edgar Allan Poe. His death contains a certain
element of mystery and macabre that would seem most befitting of one of his own stories. But
while people to this day still clamor to understand how the beloved author met his untimely
demise, is it what they truly want to know. Due to many speculations, Poe s death has been
theorized as mainly natural causes, but also some senseless as well as supernatural theories
have also been released. But in today s society, do the people wish to see the truth of Poe s death
or do they wish to see what they believe to be most fitting of the master of horror and suspense?
The facts of Poe s final days are only moderately known. He left Richmond, Virginia in order to
travel to Philadelphia but disembarked in Baltimore, Maryland. Poe then disappeared for a period
of several days. Not much is known about the days of his disappearance, some speculate that he
attempted to take the train to Philadelphia but was returned to Baltimore in a drunken stupor.
Another theory is that Poe was abducted and used in a practice called cooping. The practice which
is now considered highly illegal consisted of taking drunken men off the streets around Election

In the United States justice system, a tort is best defined as an injury or loss that was committed
deliberately or negligently by a single person or an entity (Crane). The history of tort law can be
traced back to the initial trespass of property or person, but it was not until the 18th century that the
distinction between intentional and unintentional acts was made (Columbia Electronic
Encyclopedia). In recent years, tort lawhas become the center of scrutiny through the increase in tort
costs, insurance liability costs, and the number of frivolous lawsuits made. This scrutiny has lead to
the creation of tort reform. Tort reform is a movement to reshape the way consumers can access the
courts by restricting their right to sue and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also claim that tort reform bills are giving unprecedented immunity to certain industries and
that this type of bill in unconstitutional. Another key counter argument made by the opposition is
the denial of the existence of litigation explosion that the advocates have presented. They show that
from 1993, instead of seeing the increase claimed by the advocates, there has actually been a
decrease of tort filings by 5%. They also further there counter argument by showing that the
numbers of civil trials have dropped by 47% during the same time frame (ATLA). Though these
arguments are mainly presented to counter and invalidate the advocates of tort reformation, the
opponents have also presented other unique arguments in opposition of tort reform. One strong
argument that the opponents have put forth to the public is the argument that corporations and
insurance companies are the worst abusers of the litigations system and setting forth new
regulations that would protect them from excessive litigation would just be another benefit. These
corporations are using their vast resources to unfairly delay trials, pursue frivolous appeals, and
contest claims in which liability is clear. This reasoning supports the opposition as there have been
suggestions of tort reform where the loser pays (Wikipedia). If a reformation such as this one was
passed into the system, then private citizens would be afraid to sue the

In light of Congress passing of the price ceiling bill, there has been a large amount of speculation
and fear mongering enforced by the media and opposing views. While the prospect of a price
ceiling is rather worrying, we are here to dispel any fears you may have. Yes, in some cases a
price ceiling may create a shortage of gasoline in the community, but with where our price shall
be set, and with our distribution of resources, we believe this issue can be resolved rather easily
and with minimum negative impact. Considering the effects of a price ceiling on the free market,

High priority workers and commuters still get a portion of gas sufficient to sustain needs, and
finally, long distance drivers, I.E travelers, will get no privileges over other citizens. Reading
this may be disheartening to most, but I assure you that this is in a state of severe shortages, and
as I mentioned before, our price ceiling will much further above the equilibrium line, therefore
the chances of that being an issue are rather low. So to be clear on this, our price will be set at
$2.80 maximum per gallon. That way, the free market can continue to function, and will relieve a
lot of stress on the average consumer s wallet in reference to buying gasoline. And with the price
of oil continuously declining, and 60 90 years of fuel reserves at the current rate of consumption,
gas prices shouldn t ever peak above that with reasonable pricing in mind. While a price ceiling is

invariably footnote the reference to Lazarus as John 11:1 44; rarely is the reference footnoted as
Luke 16:19 31. Also, the reference to John the Baptist is invariably footnoted as Matthew 14:3
11; never have I seen the reference footnoted as an allusion to Oscar Wilde s Salome. The sources
that one cites can profoundly affect interpretations of the poem. I believe that a correct reading of
Eliot s Prufrockrequires that one cite Wilde, in additionto Matthew, and Luke, in addition to John,
as the sources for the John the Baptistand Lazarus being referenced. Furthermore, the citation of
these sources can help explain Eliot s allusion to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But though I have wept and fasted, wept and prayed,
Though I have seen my head (grown slightly bald) brought in
upon a platter,
I am no prophet and here s no great matter... (81 83)
The reference is not only to Matthew 14:3 11, but also to Oscar Wilde s Salome, the play upon
which Richard Strauss based his opera Salome. In the biblical account, no motivation is ascribed
to Salome for wanting John the Baptist killed. In the versions by Wilde and Strauss, however,
Salome is passionately in love with the imprisoned John the Baptist, who, because he will not let
the temptations of the flesh corrupt his pure love of God, rejects her advances. Wilde s Salome,
determined that if she cannot have John no one will have John, asks Herod for the Baptist s head
on a platter. John the Baptist spurned Salome s affections while he lived; now that he is dead,
Salome lavishes her kisses upon the cold lips of the bloody corpse head.
Prufrock, too, has had his moments of temptation: he has known the arms already, known them all
/ Arms that are braceleted and white and bare / (But in the lamplight, downed with light brown
hair!) (62 64). And these very sources of temptation, these arms that lie along a table, or wrap about
a shawl (67), eventually emasculate Prufrock by rejection:

The McCormick Tribune Campus Center has two primary components, the one story building that

they are positioned right behind your forehead and at the top front of the head.
The frontal lobes, which are also called the cerebral cortex, are the seat of emotions and judgments
related to sympathy, which is the ability to feel sadness for someone else s suffering, and empathy,
which the ability to understand another s feelings and problems. They are also the seat of
understanding humour, including delicate witticisms and word plays.
The frontal lobes also identifies sarcasm and irony, another function of lobes control is the
functioning of sequencing events, which is the ability to plan a series of movements needed to
perform a multi step task, like making a sandwich. The ability to solve problems, which often
depends on flexible thinking and the ability to correctly express language are both controlled by
the frontal lobes. The left is most predominantly language related while the right is most
predominantly non verbal. the left brain is the source of logic, which tends to be language based,

relief from a problem using a range of techniques such as; the miracle questions, pretherapy
change, exception questions, summary feedback and scaling questions. The desire of this
approach is for the therapist and client to form a partnership in order to create personal meaningful
goal that will guide the therapy process in a short period of time. Attention is mainly given to
affirm what the client is doing and what the client and working that will lead to a better future. The

include primary markets, such as IPOs that are placed with investors through underwriters, and
secondary markets, in which all subsequent trading takes place. Government agencies in different

regulating themselves . Primary markets are used for new issues and secondary markets are used

Epidemiologists, those who study the origins and causes of disease, have been monitoring the
epidemic of food borne illnesses since 1864 (CDC.int). According to the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention (heretofore refereed to as the CDC) approximately 1 in 6 Americans
(roughly 48 million) contract food poisoning every year. Of the infected, on average food borne
illness are responsible for 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths per year as reported in the
CDC s 2011 Emerging Infectious Diseases. The CDC has identified 250 diseases stemming from
from viruses, parasites, and bacteriaas well as chemical contamination which disseminates by
natural and manufactured chemicals or by toxins produced by microorganisms. In the onslaught of
food borne illnesses salmonelleosis and campylobacteriosis are the main culprits.
Affecting over 1.2 million people and causing 380 deaths per year in the United States alone,
salmonelleosis (commonly referred to as salmonella), is regarded as the most common food borne
disease. Common symptoms commence from 12 hours to three days after ingestion; severe cases
and those who are more prone to disease children, the elderly, and those with HIV/AIDs experience
fevers, diarrhea and vomiting due to the intestinal damaged triggered by the infection. Salmonella

25. Tale Of Two Cities Analysis
Charles Dickens, a brilliant author back in the 1850 s, wrote A Tale of Two Cities in order to
describe the similarities between the forces that led to the revolution and the oppression and unrest
occurring in England. The French revolution impacts history because the time period in which it
takes place is before and during the French revolution. The French revolution signifies the essence
of a rapid change, nevertheless, this change tore France right at the heart, where all the government
was functioning . France was torn apart because of the rebellions of the Bourgeoisie, against the
rich aristocrats, consequently the monarch Louis 14th. Charles Dickenswent further. He conveys the

The discrimination in the novel is shown through the ways the royalty and aristocracies live
compared to the lives of the lower class. During the French revolution, the aristocrats were
significantly prosperous than the poverty, as shown in the wine scene. The difference in classes
is shown in a scene where the wine bottle breaks in front of a store, and peasants run to lick up
the wine, (book one chapter five), without any disregard of the mud that is mixed within it. The
breaking of the wine bottle affects the entire poverty class, All the people within reach had
suspended their business, or their idleness, to run to the spot and drink the wine. The peasants
were so poor they did not care about the wine being dirty, they were just happy to be capable of
having a drink. In Tale of Two Cities there are 2 types of social classes due to aristocracy being
the main idea to govern, This idea for centuries, was dictated by social and religious
convention. The gap in the classes and the lack of care for peasants caused hatred among the
peasants towards the aristocracy. The mistreatment of the peasant class of the aristocrats lead to the
French revolution. The hatred of the peasant class towards the rich is what the French revolution or
any revolution is built on. These inhumane discriminations led to a massive bloodshed of a

Brazil The Brazilian cinema has seen its fair share of highs and lows from 1980 2014. The
cinema success is directly related to the people in power since the cinema is funded through
government subsides. Brazilian producers cant hold a candle to the American cinema, not many
can, they tried making box offices hits. Last year, in 2013, the top 10 films in Brazilwere posted and
a Brazilian filmwas the 3rd American imported films came in the first two. The little victories
are important to a country that has such a free trade market they don t focus on pushing their
own cinema. The early 1980 s were a dark time for Brazil. President Figueiredo came into office
when debt and unemployment were at its highest. Also Brazil was in $90million dollar debt.
This economic struggle introduces Brazilian cinema to a new low. By the early 1990 s President
Collar opens the market to free trade. This was to industrialize Brazil, and attempt to cut
government spending. Cutting government spending hurt cinema, which is why there will be a
large decline in the early 1990s. By 1992 president Franco came into office. The inflation rate by
this time doubled. This was a very bad time for brazils government. With the economy doing so
poorly the urban crime life was high, acting as a muse for many producers. At this time 40% of
the domestic films were documentaries on urban violence. In the 1980s to produce a film in

Islamic law, or Shariah, is legal system governing the members of the Islamic faith. The formation
of Islamic and Western law has similar types of foundation structures that have supported what it is
today. There are also many different ways people can interpret Shariah and apply it to modern
society. Although there are strong influences that hinder the practice of Islamic law, abandoning the
law is not the best solution to countries in turmoil.
Islamic Law
The formation of Islamic law is thought to have been started after the first three generations of
Prophet Muhammad s death in 632 AD. After Muhammad s death, the Islamic community was
faced with confusion and constitutional crisis. Mohammad s predecessor, Abu Bakr, assumed the
role of caliph, but only ruled for two years due to an assassination. His main focus was to bring the
tribes back to Islam that had broke ties to Islam and Mohamad after his death. Succeeding Bakr s
reign was another companion of the prophet named Umar and under his caliphate expanded Islam
at an unprecedented rate. The rapid expansion of territory unified the Arab culture, Islamic religion,
and political aspects. This melting pot of private individuals brought legal concepts, and institutions
that were familiar to the native cultures to help develop Islamic Law, or jurist law. The jurists could
come together to implement a common law, since problems that were the same in nature, but

Within the human being there are innumerable, infinitesimal equilibriums put out of whack by the
instances and circumstances we encounter throughout our quotidian life this is the mindset of the

imbalances. One way to remedy this imbalance is that of the Holistic approach. Holistic medicine

medicine; people tend to have a strong sense of what holistic means, whether or not they can

medicine embodies the mindset that there are interdependent cogs within each human, if a spoke
breaks via physical, emotional, or spiritual disparity, even if the in smallest instance, the whole
system will be compromised. All parts will be affected and will suffer, and health will be negatively
impacted whether it be illness, ailment, or otherwise. Holistic medicine and healing is practiced

habits, style of life, and menagement of time are completely different. The globalization of the
markets and information, the massive diffusion of mobiles and internet, have created many
advantages in our workplaces, in our houses, in our cities but on the other hand they have
reduced the liberty and the privacy of the individual person and their own goods. So the question
are: Is this the price to pay for the development of technology in our society? Are we ready to
reduce our private sphere in the name of the modernity and the globalization? Nowdays, we are
living in the age of the Big Brother , that is not only a TV program but it is a real... Show more

37. George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four
Who said Fiction was Fake?
Imagine a place where the government is feared and seen as the center of the universe. No one
dares to go against it because of the torture and punishments that can occur. Propaganda is
everywhere, and no one knows what is the truth and what is a lie. Not knowing if today will be
your last. This may seem like an insight to a fictional novel, but this is not the case, this is a reality
for some people. Like in the novel Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell, the North Korean
government uses fear to control their citizens, and supervises the type of media presented through
technology. By running everything through a totalitarian regime, no one has the power or courage
to fight back (North Korea: Government) (Cha 13).
What is a way to get even the most stubborn person to follow commands? Fear. Fear is an effective
method of control that is used in both the governments of Nineteen Eighty Four and North Korea.
Oceania, the country where the novel takes place, has telescreens that claim to be watching
everyone at all times (Orwell 5). You had to live did live, from habit that became instinct in
assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement
scrutinised (Orwell 5). This kind of knowledge scares Winston and the citizens into obeying what
the government says, since they don t want to do something that can give the government a reason
to punish them. Even the slightest infraction can get someone in trouble:

39. Obedience In The My Lai Massacre
The Implications of Obedience Within the United States Military: The My Lai Massacre On March
16, 1968, a unit of the United States military was ordered to advance into a village called Son My
in northern Vietnam. It was there that a mass execution of unarmed civilians took place. One may
wonder how the United States could do something so seemingly inhumane after considering what
the Nazis did only twenty years prior to the Vietnam War. However, in the context of a tense
situation, there are particular factors that will affect one s decision making skills. Factors such as
uncertainty, routinization, gradual escalation, and dehumanization of the victim are all possible
components in affecting one s obedience.
When uncertainty is present in a given situation, obedience tends to be greater. Being in an
unfamiliar position may prompt one to have a lower self confidence. Consequently, this self
perceived inferiority may cause the subject to look to authority for assistance (Nelson, class
lecture, 2017). This was clearly evident at My Lai, as many of the soldiers were young and
inexperienced, merely trained to follow orders given to them by authority. According to Kelman
Hamilton (1989) in their article The My Lai Massacre: A Military Crime of Obedience, Charlie
Company contained no significant deviation from the average company. That is, most of the men
had volunteered for the draft and had not yet even finished college. Most were eighteen to twenty
two years old, still

41. Rocky Planets Research Paper
Abstract
Exoplanets are interesting to us for a number of reasons. By locating and observing them, we are
able to gather a variety of useful data that tells us details about the planet, and then compare and
contrast them to other exoplanets, as well as our own planet Earth. These comparisons are our
attempt at better understanding the formation history of rocky planets such as the one we live on
today, and furthermore understand the future of rocky planets based on their internal composition
and proximity to their host stars.
Introduction
We are often presented with useful information in the search for new information, and here it
comes in the form of two research papers. They are: HD 219134b: A transiting rocky planetin a
multi planet system at 6.5 pc from the Sun by F. Motalebi et al. and An Earthsize planet with an
Earth like density by F. Pepe et al. Both papers provide research findings on two close proximity
exoplanets around their respective host stars, with the main focus of ... Show more content on

This then corresponds to both planets having a very high temperature which means that the
atmospheres on both of these planets will either be very thin or just non existent entirely, having
been burned off by the host star. There is absolutely no chance of life on either of these planets.
Conclusion
From the data presented in both papers, it is clear that both are incredibly helpful in the effort to
find similar planets to Earth in terms of their internal composition, in order to better understand the
formation history of rocky planets. As suggested in (2), such data is useful in determining whether
or not all rocky planets are similar to one another in that they all have Earth like densities, or if
they come in a variety of compositions, such as their larger planetary counterparts (gas

43. The Process Of Mitosis And The Function Of Chromosomes,...

The process of mitosis is one performed millions of times a day by every living thing. Each of
these cells contains the blueprints of our bodies, which are scientifically known as chromosomes,
genes, and DNA. The purpose of this paper is to inform people about the process of mitosis, and to
teach people about the function of chromosomes, genes and DNA, and the relation between one
another.
The process of mitosis is a five step process that starts from just a single cell. Every minute of
everyday, cells are dying, and in order for us to stay alive and functioning they must be replaced.
For example, if you get a cut on your hand, cells die. In order ... Show more content on

Half of the chromosomes go to one side and half go to the other. When the chromosomes are on
either side telophase begins. Telophase is when the division is almost done. The cell membrane
closes and splits in two. From this you get two different cells. The process is complete... for now.
Interphase is when a cell is in it s resting state. The cell is just going about its normal business and
getting ready for another cell division that is soon to come.
The process of mitosis is a fascinating process which occurs when a cell needs to split into two
child cells. The process happens all the time as we grow, get injured, and need cells to repair our
body, or just to replace cells that have died.
Chromosomes, genes, and DNA are all connected. Each goes into each other like russian nesting
dolls. You start with the human body, inside the human body you have trillions of cells, which all
contain nuclei. Inside the nuclei are twenty three pairs of chromosomes, forty six total. Coiled
inside each of these chromosomes is DNA, and the DNA is made up of genes.
Every cell has different organelles, and these organelles eliminate waste and produce energy. The
cell nucleus is an organelle, and it is here that we find chromosomes. Imagine chromosomes like a
briefcase carrying the blueprints of life. Chromosomes are an outer casing for DNA, and they are
the ones who carry all of the information related to our bodies composition

44. What Is Active Assisted Range Of Motion
Active Assisted Range of Motion is utilized under certain conditions. It is most often used when a
client has a weakness due to pathology or injury. The therapist would help assist the client as the
client actively moves the joint through a pain free range of motion, indicating pain when it arises.
The use of light pressure touch over the joint capsule can add palpation of tissue for analysis
during active assisted ROM.
Active ROM testing is conducted first or Active Assisted ROM testing, when called for, followed
by passive ROM testing. Passive testing allows the therapist to ascertain any adhesions or excessive
mobility within the joint s range. During this passive motion the individual being tested should
remain as passive as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A hard or bone to bone end feel, occurring when the therapist would not expect to feel such hard
resistance, can indicate changes in the osseous tissue, joint capsule or misalignment after a fracture.
On the other end of the spectrum, an unrestricted end feel yielding a high level of pain, may indicate
bursitis and inflammation of the joint capsule.
A very common experience among manual therapists, is a bouncy end feel, which may include the
sensation of a contractile spasm. This is a sudden and the hard cessation of movement, including
pain, followed closely by a bouncy sensation that may include spasms in specific muscles involved
with the range of motion. This type of end feel may indicate a responsive muscle guarding intended
to prevent further injury.
A restricted, yet springy end feel near the end of range of motion of a joint, with or without pain,
can indicate changes to inert tissues. Such as, cartilage or the meniscus of the tibiofemoral joint.
Where the individual would not be able to fully extend the joint.
A soft, yet soggy end feel can indicate edema within the joint or joint capsule. This soggy feel may
indicate an acute ligament injury, usually accompanied by moderate to severe pain. A sprain, for
example, of an ankle may also include a strain to one or more muscle tendons.
In conclusion, there are a few ROM testing patterns that occur

a) Trends and Projections Today s on line travel market is succeeding because the companies are
using a more software centric, online business model termed E commerce. This has become the
popular avenue for businesses as it mirrors the ideas of mobility. The sheer amount of data
available, coupled with the advanced operating systems and social media platforms, have created
new possibilities for E commerce organizations. The infrastructure of E commerce has expanded
into platforms such as peer to peer networking, crowd sourcing, social websites, and mobile
devices and media. E commerce trends are findings ways to incorporate every aspect of our daily
lives into an online package associated with our everyday needs (Fishbein, 2013). Following the
invention of Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), primarily used by the airline, banking, and
retail industries during the late 1960s, the introduction of E Commerce progressed towards a global
enterprise design which incorporated commerce for web, mobile and the business to customer and
business to business models. Such designs became more useful as they increased the ability to

Final Exam About three years ago, I attended a lecture given by Zimbabwean writer, Chenjerai
Hove. He was an exile from his home country, he told us the story of his life, shared some of his
work, and gave us a window into the mind of an exiled person. There was one anecdote of his that
really stuck with me. He said he was once editing a woman s novel. In the novel, the main
character is a woman who is being abused by her husband. By the end of the novel, the main
character remains in the abusive relationship. Hove asked the author why the character did not
leave her husband or do something to escape her situation. The author said that she wanted to
portray real life. According to her, women do not escape from abusive relationships. This
response upset Hove. He asked us what the point of writing was, if not to change, challenge, or
argue against something. I remember leaving very impressed by him in general, and I was sad to
hear that he passed away last year. On a positive note, this anecdote made me judge the quality of
literature based on his belief on what literature should do. I also found this advocacy for change in
this class texts. In I, Rigobera Menchu: An Indian Woman in Guatemala, an autobiography, The
First Wife: A Tale of Polygamy by Paulina Chiziane, and Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship
And Colonial Discourses by Chandra Talpade Mohanty, the authors seek to change how women are

Lost Humanity We have lost all feeling for one another. We can hardly control ourselves when our
hunted glance lights on the form of some other man. We are insensible, dead men, who through
some trick, some dreadful magic, are still able to run (Remarque 115). This quote shows the
thoughts that run through Paul Baumer s mind during a long battle. The quote demonstrates the
stripped sense of humanity and self control the soldiers have, and the animalistic nature the soldiers
have developed. Throughout the novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, Baumer and the Second
Company become isolated from their humanity, their childhood, and other humans. Becoming
isolated from one s humanity changes a human in drastic ways. A word of command has made
these silent figures our enemies; a word of command might transform them into our friends
(Remarque 195). Remarque uses this quote to show how the ones in authority turn the soldiers under

Crime and Deviance This essay will evaluate the Marxist theory that the ruling class in society
decides the law and enforces it, to reflect their own interests. Marxism is a political and social
system based on the ideas of Karl Marx (1818 83). Marxist criminology theories began in the
1970 s. According to Marxists, society is controlled by the ruling capitalist class. They believe
that in a capitalist society, a small group of wealthy people (the bourgeoisie), own the means of
production, such as; factories, businesses, land, etc and that they exploit the working class people
(the proletariat), so that they can enjoy a huge profit and personal gain, either legally or illegally.

In their theories, Marxists say that certain types of crime are more likely to be punished
compared to others. Street crimes (brawls, binge drinking, theft, muggings, social unrest and
disorder) are more likely to be pursued than white collar crime (fraud, tax evasion, insider
training and even gambling and prostitution). This is because the capitalist governments who
have run the country are sympathetic to those who are of the same belief and class, but have
just got carried away with their search for wealth. In this society of greed, the working class
have to turn to crime just to stay alive and to obtain the materialistic goods or lifestyle, which is
typical to a capitalistic state, and that general standard of living and attitude to life, is enforced on
them, when living in this type of society. Money and personal gain, and the every man for
himself attitude is what life is like in an unfair, and socially unequal way of life under a capitalist
government. In another example, in their search for high profits, employers may not enforce health
