Modern Metropolis, By Fritz Lang
Tanveer Khan Kaliopi Pappas, J. D. Civilization 003 4 May 2016 Modern Metropolis Modernity is a
new era in which humans began to think about themselves, and started changing from old traditions
like religious influences to their own culture of radical new ideas. This era is full of rational
humanistic ideas and increased the opportunities for people to go after their interests in life. Modernity
is kind of like the days Americans live today with freedom to be who you think is right. People began
trying to voice their opinions to higher authority, and eventually society picked up on giving what
mankind deserved. For example, many people in the modern era tried to fight for their natural rights,
and also some women requested for some recognition with rights like men. In the film, Metropolis, by
Fritz Lang, there are various elements of modernity. Mr. Fredersen, who was the owner of Metropolis
city, was very selfish and greedy for production that led to increase in revenues. He was married to
Hel, who died giving birth to Freder. Rotwang was attracted to Hel, also a scientist, inventor, and kind
of insane. He now hates Mr. Fredersen and his son for all the reasons he wasn t able to receive love
from Hel. Maria is the religious figure where she stays underground in the catacombs to spread hope
to all the workers that just left it all out at their jobs. The creators of the film made the setting full of
modern buildings and machines to make things easier for

Postcolonial Lens
Postcolonial critiques of literary works are often accomplished by reading and interpreting the work
with a specific theme in mind or a lens . By allowing oneself to use a lens when reading specific
works, it allows the reader to interpret the effects of the themes and the changes throughout the
writings. The goal of the critical lens is to seek to understand the behavior of characters or the society
( Post Colonialism, 2016). A few of the most popular themes used to view literary works are identity,
oppression and power; applying this lens can give the reader a different perspective and experience
while reading the writings.
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Tempest both have several postcolonial themes that run through them.

The theme of power can be observed, in addition to Prospero, by the actions of Antonio, Sebastian and
Caliban. Moreover, this theme of power is evident from the opening scene all the way through to the

Prospero, the protagonist, was originally the Duke of Milan, but had his kingdom taken from him by
his own brother and was banished to an island with only his daughter and his books. His books were
his power and he loved them greatly telling his daughter Miranda Me, poor man, my library Was

The Enlightenment And Ideas Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a time of mathematical, scientific, and philosophical advancement. The
thoughts of philosophers like Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Locke inspired many, such as the Americans.
Their ideas about freedom of religion, civil liberties, free trade, and social reforms became the basis
that the Americans built their new country upon and impacted politics and culture. Due to the
advanced ideas that were emerging from Europe, religious views of the colonists started to alter.
Before enlightenment beliefs spread, the universally accepted theory was that human suffering was
inevitable. However, the new conjecture stated God set the universe in motion and gave humans the
power of reason to enable them to comprehend the orderly and complex

Falafel Essay
5 Reasons Why Falafel is a Good Vegetarian Alternative
What is falafel?
Falafel is one of the most popular recipes of the Middle East. Falafel is mainly made from chickpeas
and can be given a form of kibble, small hamburger or ball which is fried with olive oil. Falafel is very
tasty and easy to make and usually served as a starter or as a snack in warm pita bread. The original
falafel recipe is based on chickpeas but in countries like Egypt, it is made chiefly with beans, so the
bean falafel is another tasty option and its preparation is similar. Falafel is a good vegetarian

You can feed 10 times more people with the food which is not based on animal meat. Each year of
forests and forest disappear so they can graze animals. In addition, the intensive farming generates
waste (manure) and highly polluting methane.
Prevent animal suffering:
Behind this way of eating there is a whole philosophy of life. The planet is understood as the home of
living beings. Avoid, if possible, animal suffering is very important. You can feed yourself without

Totalitarianism Dbq Essay
In the 20th century totalitarian governments had come to power in Italy, Germany, and the Soviet
Union. These governments had forced their political authority and centralized control over all aspects
of life (Document 3 and 6). The government had imposed public gatherings to invade people s lives
and indoctrination of totalitarian ideas had influenced youth organizations and literature to help the
government gain authority over one s country (Document 2). One method used by totalitarian
dictatorship is having mass rallies and speeches. The totalitarian government that used these method

Justin Trudeau Leadership
Justin Trudeau became the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada at 43 years of age on 4th November 2015.
He represents a different and new style of leadership. His leadership style is focussed on extending
and strengthening opportunities for everyone. The leadership style, approach to character and
governing of Justin is very efficient and he acts as a team leader and not a one army man (Gour,
2016). He takes time in taking action for any challenge and assesses it first. He focuses on direct
communication among his team and citizens of Canada.
Justin Trudeau reframes adversity into opportunity as an effective leader which is evident when he
became the leader of the Liberal Party and his campaign for Prime Minister Ship (Wallenfeldt, 2017).

Multitasking Persuasive Essay Examples
Radio Do you ever feel like you have too many things that need to be done, but there is not enough
time within a day? A solution to this dilemma has surfaced for it to be the revolutionary method of
multitasking. Multitasking is the performance of two or more activities done simultaneously or by task
switching. In modern day, it is evident (particularly in younger generations) that we are conditioning
ourselves to multitask with the interaction of high media usage, which is occurring at an
unprecedented fashion. However, this ability is not innate with humans and we have limitations to
such skill. Furthermore, multitasking is a lifestyle that some people might yield to, for instance,
because their workplace demands it from them, or because of its compulsion from being recognized as
a popular trend. Employees who are demanded to multitask an abundance of assignments have a

Although multitasking is presumed to be a competitive skill in the workforce, businesses, in fact,
suffer financially and productively because workers cannot concentrate effectively while facing
distractions. Multitasking has been studied socially and psychologically, and has been proven that the
ability to process two things at once is not a fixed trait within people. Consequently, time loss,
learning deficiencies, short term memory loss, and proneness of committing error are byproducts from
multitasking. Perceptibly, positive results from multitasking or task switching may be promising if the
skill is practiced and is well trained. But forcing our efforts to respond to multiple tasks at once is
detrimental to one s mind because of the brain has its limitations and is unable to do so. So then, it is
imperative for one to operate assignments with proper attention and prioritizing them, so that we face

The Paradox Of Democracy And Imperialism In 5th Century...
Plato once stated that Justice was about minding your own business and keep from meddling in the
business of other men and in relation to the four major virtues of civilization, this could be interpreted
in several different ways. Plato was one of the greatest philosophers of our history, and he had a theory
that every civilization was built on four underpinning virtues that are Wisdom, Courage, Moderation,
and Justice. While many may disagree that the Classical Greeks followed these four virtues, it was
clear that in a sense, they did.
However, it wasn t enough to consider them just, and thus, they did not create Plato s ideal
civilization. To begin, the Athenians are not entirely just. While they may have been just in the eyes of
man, in the eyes of woman and slave, they were not. In the article, The Paradox of Democracy and
Imperialism in 5th Century Athens it reads, The idea of universal human rights would have been alien
to the Athenians, who saw no need to grant women, slaves, and Metics equal rights to those enjoyed
by citizens. (Chua 3). This statement proves that only the Athenian men had a sense of justice in the
context that only the men had any stake in the society. The woman in Athens were hidden in their

Good Faith Exception
Police officers, like the citizens they protect, can make mistakes. I do not believe that police officers
should be held liable for acting in good faith. According to the United States Supreme Court, per
Brinegar v. United States, because many situations which confront officers in the course of executing
their duties are more or less ambiguous, room must be allowed for some mistakes on their part. But
the mistakes must be those of reasonable men, acting on facts leading sensibly leading to their
conclusions of probability. (PoliceMag, 2007). The Fourth Amendment protects the citizens of the
United States from unreasonable searches and seizures. (U.S. Const. amend. IV). Over the course of
history, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of protecting the police officers from any liability. My
focus will be on the good faith exception and the exigent circumstance.
The Good Faith Exception
First, the good faith exception protects law enforcement officers who had reasonable intentions, but
made mistakes with their actions. The Supreme Court first introduced the good faith exception in
United States v. Leon. The Court maintained that the exclusionary rule is not relevant in situation
when police officers act with reasonable dependence on a search warrant that later proves to be
invalid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

public safety is threatened, suspect(s) escape is imminent, or evidence is about to be removed or

Petrified Wood
2. Background on the mineralogical composition of petrified woods
A diverse suite of minerals and phases have been found in petrified woods from all over the world.
The common species found range from pure opal to pure quartz whereas others include calcite,
dolomite, pyrite, goethite, phosphates (apatite), laumontite, uraninite, sphalerite and organics (Nowak
et al., 2005). In coal deposits inundated by sea water (Yossifova et al., 2011), the woods can be
permineralized by quartz, plagioclase, muscovite, smectite, kaolinite and nacrite (a typical
hydrothermal mineral).
Cross polarized light shows that opal CT has very low interference colours, in contrast to the brighter
colours typical of chalcedony (Mustoe, 2008). However, polarizing microscope images alone cannot
resolve the degree of crystallinity of phases. For this, XRD and Raman microscopy are required to
clearly identify chalcedony, moganite, orthorhombic silica, opal CT, opal C and quartz (HatipoÄŸlu and
Türk, 2009). It is not easy to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organic constituents of cell walls have a strong affinity for silicic acid molecules (Leo Barghoorn,
1976). Opal mineralized woods have densities ) are attached to the interior surfaces of cell walls,
where they are enclosed within colourless chalcedony that later permineralized the cell lumina
(Mustoe, 2008). The observed alternating crystallization of quartz and chalcedony may be caused by
variations in the degree of silica saturation of the mineral forming SiO bearing fluids. These results
confirm the earlier conclusions of Heaney and Davis (1995) and Götze et al. (1998) who showed that
the agate structure can probably be interpreted as an alternating formation of fine grained, highly
defective chalcedony intergrown with moganite, and coarse grained low defect quartz (Götze et al.,

Muslim Female Stereotypes
The Muslim women were meeting at an old warehouse in Chicago that was being used for a makeshift

Competency Demonstration Report I ( Pcb )
COMPETENCY DEMONSTRATION REPORT I (CDR I)
CE.1.1. Introduction
Many problems had come to surface for electronic manufacturing companies to increase their
productivity. One of the solution is to reduce human errors in a PCB production especially before the
PCB dispatch for electronic productions.
This project was undertaken as one of the requirements to obtain my Engineering Degree at
Universitas Katholik Atmajaya, Jakarta. The details of the project were:
PROJECT : Create and Design a checking device for single layer printed circuit board (PCB)
DURATION : December 2001 April 2002
LOCATION : Jakarta, Indonesia
NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION: Universitas Katholik Atma Jaya, Jakarta
POSITION : Final year student
CE.1.2. Background
CE.1.2.1. Nature of overall engineering project
Manufacturing, including electronics manufacturing, is a major industry in Indonesia. To be
competitive internationally, manufacturers attempt to reduce their manufacturing cost but at the same
time increase product output and quality. Most manufacturing units use human labour to undertake
quality checking, in this case to ensure the path on the printed circuit board (PCB) was not missing
and that there are no scratches. These defects would cause the PCB to be defective, in turn making the
end electronic products defective. Subsequent market recalls would cost the manufacturer a large sum
of money and reputation.
I decided to create a system for reducing human error in electronics

Systems In most cultures, any visible formal power structure will lie over a more fundamental, less

Why Did Johnstown Happen
The Johnstown Flood was a catastrophe that occurred in Western Pennsylvania on May 13st of 1889.
The flood occurred when a dam on the Little Conemaugh River, South Fork Dam, failed to support
heavy rainfall flow that caused the river to swell and the dam to be overloaded. Unfortunately, a short
fourteen miles down the river lived the people of Johnstown. Johnstown was a prosperous yet modest
western Pennsylvania town. The town had an iron company called Cambria Iron Company, which
employed most of its men in producing steel products. The town, at the time, had a few phones, three
local newspapers, and a handful of saloons. At the time, they were self sufficient.
Interestingly enough, fourteen miles up the valley, South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club, was set in
the mountains and was a popular summer destination for the wealthy of Pittsburgh. At the time,
Pittsburgh was ages ahead of the little town of Johnstown comparatively. The wealthy, including
Andrew Carnegie, even had a home at the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club, which was ideal for

throughout the day as the storm progressed. Eventually, nothing could move east or west, and all trains
were stopped. Overnight, people at the club upriver noticed that the lake rose two feet over night. The
spillway definitely couldn t handle more water. Debris accumulated around the innovative fish screens
that were put in place to make fishing easy and leisurely for the wealthy. The damns engineer left at

Pros And Cons Of Using Car Air Conditioning
Using Car Air Conditioning Stop Leak
Here were going to discuss the pros and cons of using car air conditioning stop leak. Many people
with old rides give up when the AC stops working because these repairs can be so expensive.
In fact it s not uncommon for an AC repair estimate to exceed the total value of the automobile. With
that said, you can repair a leaking Schrader valve for under $50.
This is why it s important to find out what s wrong. When you finally do go to sell your old ride and
operating air conditioning system will increase the value and could close the sale on a hot summer
day.
With the low cost of air conditioning stop leak it s tempting to go ahead and throw a can in the system
and see if it solves all your problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s an amazing little device is also used to hold the air pressure into your tires.
This is often an overlooked area where Freon can leak out of your car. The device can loosen up and

discussed on this page doesn t work for the AC Schrader valve.
When you install the dye you will get some of that liquid on the Schrader valve so it will always
indicate a leak. Not only can it loosen up over time but systems that get a lot of maintenance or had a
lot of problems can wear out the rubber O ring seals on the Schrader valve.
A lot of times when mechanics say they can t find the leak is because they didn t check the air

In this framework due to Michael Porter there are two high level stages in the creation of competitive

framework, five forces that influence industry attractiveness are identified, as well as the factors (e.g.,
number of competitors, size of competitors, capital requirements) that determine the intensity of each
force and therefore the cumulative intensity of the five forces. The ... Show more content on

For example, the (conventional) personal computer (PC) industry would include PC manufacturers
like Dell and Apple, suppliers of semiconductor chips like Intel and Micron, suppliers of disc drives
like Seagate, suppliers of software such as Microsoft, etc. Substitute products could be pen based
tablet PCs or small hand held personal digital assistants (PDAs). In the five forces framework
described below, manufacturers and producers will be designated as (1) competitors in the industry if
they already have established products, or (2) new entrants if they are trying to enter the industry, or
(3) substitutes, if they provide alternative (substitute) products. The term market denotes the buyers
(or customers) of the product or service. For example, the market for PCs would include enterprises
and individual consumers.
The analytical process of strategy analysis and creation can be decomposed into the following five
steps.
1. Create a map of the industry in which the technology company is embedded.
There are five key sets of players that constitute the business landscape: competitors, new entrants,
substitutes, suppliers, and buyers. Identify key players (companies) for each industry.

Compare And Contrast Augustus And Octavian
The reason why we chose Augustus/Octavian for our hero and is A hero is because he made rome
strong again after they were all soft and broken down. He first started when he was 17 and he ruled for
45 years. His uncle was Julius Caesar and Julius was also A great ruler in rome but nobody liked him,
So Augustus had to prove to them he is not like his uncle. Augustus won every war he was in for them
so they got A bunch of land. Augustus was the first Emperor after Julius was. Augustus died from
either natural causes or his wife Livia poisoned him.
Augustus/ Octavian is a hero because he won every single fight he had to battle and, conquered tons of
land for the roman empire and also he made bodyguards for the emperors. He did

The Purity and Purification of Solids-Melting Point Essay
Introduction: The method for purifying solids is done by observing the melting point. This is
important because if there is an impure substance the melting point would be depression and the
melting range would be broader. By finding the melting point of a known substance one can then
observe an unknown substance s melting point to see if the points are the same and try to figure out
the unknown.
Experimental Section: The first known substance we used was Biphenyl. 68 degrees Celsius is the
known melting point. We used the capillary method and observed the melting point using a Mel temp
device. The next substance whose melting point we observed was 90 % Naphthalene, 10 % Biphenyl.
In the last part of the experiment I observed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Trial Two 114.7 106. 114.7
Trial Three 114.4 107.1 114.4
The next table shows the melting points of the mixtures made to determine the Unknown. Melting
Point (Celsius) Melting Point Range (Celsius)
Trial One: 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E 117.2 80.8 117.2
Trial Two: 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E 118.1 81.8 118.1
Trial One: Acetanilide and Unknown E 115.1 106.7 115.1
Trial Two: Acetanilide and Unknown E 113.6 102.0 113.6
Discussion: In part A the melting points I observed were similar to those of my classmates. During the
first trial the temperature was climbing quickly and the Biphenyl melted quickly. During the next two
trials the Mel temp was set at a lower setting and our melting point was closer to the known melting
point.
Conclusion: I have determined that Unknown E is Acetanilide. The melting point of the mixtures was
very close to the melting point of plain Unknown E. The 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E s mixture
had to high of a melting point. Based on my results and observations I would conclude that Unknown
E is Acetanilide.

Marketing Strategy For Green Mountain Coffee
1. What marketing approaches could Green Mountain adopt in order to expand its customer base?
Green Mountain Coffee, which is now known as Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. (KGM) since March of
2014 after acquiring Keurig, Inc. in 2006, currently sells to its Away From Home (AFH) channel and
At Home (AH) in the United States and Canada (9). The company targets coffee drinkers who wish to
enjoy the speed, convenience and quality of Keurig brewed beverages (9) in its AH channel. The AFH
channel, on the other hand, primarily targets the office coffee channel that serves the workplace, food
service and hospitalities industries in the United States, while its Canada segment markets to these
industries through its AFH distributors (9). KGM utilizes numerous marketing programs such as
circular advertising, online promotional campaigns, merchandising features, in store demos, mobile
marketing, display and local and national advertising, and its website and social media pages (9). The
company also has a loyalty program called Club Keurig, offers free samples of its products through its
website and has feet on the street brand ambassadors (8, 10). KGM implements a variety of marketing
approaches to increase the awareness and trial of its products and convert leads into buyers and thus it
is challenging to suggest marketing approaches the company can use to expand its customer base.
Nonetheless, KGM could implement cause related marketing to increase awareness among additional

Call Of Duty As A Satire
This is disgusting and appalling! What a far cry from the glory and praise the series has experienced
since it revolutionized the FPS genre in 2007 with the launch of Call of Duty 4. All I can say is that I
m glad this garbage didn t occur when I played Call of Duty extensively when I was still in school. If I
was still involved in the franchise the way I used to be in 2009 when I was 15, I would have wasted
hundreds of dollars on a game that I simply wanted to play for fun.
As reprehensible as this is, the people that should be most ashamed are Ali A , TmarTn and other COD
Youtubers. The majority of your viewers are people that are as enamored with Call of Duty now, as I
was when I was their age in 2009. Whether you like it or not you

The Enticing Paradox In Paul Simon s The Sound Of Silence
Exploring the inner turmoil of the human soul is a fascinating subject that has captivated members of
academia since the dawn of metacognition. Paul Simon writes a beautiful, harmonious piece of
timeless art known as The Sound of Silence, which is almost whispered, in song, by Art Garfunkel.
Paul Simon, by using the enticing paradox: the sound of silence , the clever use of light to describe the
false hope society places on external forces, as well as a plethora of other paradoxes and metaphors,
such as a growing seed, urges people to cease looking to extraneous solutions to answer their internal
quarrels, and begin instead, looking within themselves for the answers they seek.
Simon kicks off this incredible introspection by depicting his inner quarrels as a vision that started as a
seed that is planted in his brain . This metaphor is especially enticing because it expresses that which
all people are aware: leaving a thought unanswered will cause the individual to be consumed with
curiosity, until they decide to seek the answer, no matter through what means that may ... Show more

of society explores the meaninglessness of solving intimate problems with general answers: these ten
thousand people are all paying homage to their neon god , hoping that this will solve their growing
emptiness inside, but instead, this solution is only a distraction from the real

White Tailed Deer
It can be believed that there is a smaller abundance of Odocoileus virginianus (White Tailed Deer)
than Sciurus carolinensis (Grey Squirrels) around Alfred University. According to the History of
White Tailed Deer in New York (Brown, 1956), there is the possibility that hunting regulations keep
many of these White Tailed Deer safe compared to the lack of hunting regulations on squirrels. A
different article (Ward, 1999) which discusses the effect of poisoning on wildlife in the state of New

In 1912 when the buck law went into effect it was set to increase the number of deer as well as limit
the abundance of deer to prey on other organisms. This was not as simple as thought, many were
illegally killed leaving many newborns to starve during the winter. (Brown, 1956). Hunting soon
began to be open during certain date ranges during the season to allow more regulation on hunting of
the White tailed deer. (Brown, 1956). These deer prefer matured forests with practically no
undergrowth (Brown, 1956) which brings them to the same place, around Alfred, New York. Although
it may seem that there are more deer, the regulations help, but the deer don t reproduce as many,
squirrels reproduce 2 4 per litter twice a year (Frankis).
Wildlife, for the most part, is out on its own having to rummage and scour the woodlands or their
habitats for food. While looking for food it can be dangerous, poisoning of wildlife occurs all the time.
It has been found that Anticoagulant Rodenticides are commonly used in New York and this cause
many mammals to be poisoned. Of all the animals that are poisoned, the White Tailed Deer and the
Grey Squirrel are the most common. Through the use of brodifacoum in pesticides, this appears to
limit the amount of squirrels and deer in surrounding areas where most pesticides containing
brodifacoum are used. (Ward,

Stereotyping Of The Chinatowns Of China And The Great...
Nevertheless, back in China, it was a lawless decade dominated by rapacious warlords. Nationalist
leader Chiang Kai shek, led a campaign called Northern Expedition from 1926 to 1928 to control
China by defeating the warlords. But he faced relentless Japan s attack, and in the 1919 Versailles
Treaty, Western power return Shandong Province to Japan instead. Japan then seized Manchuria and
controlled China by assigning Puyi as puppet ruler.
Chinese immigrants were eager to help, but soon American mired in the deepest economic recession

financial bubble bursted, making twenty million American unemployed. In 1933, President Roosevelt
enacted the Federal Emergency Relief Act, which saved the economic depression for both Americans
and Chinese. However, The Great Depression did not affect the Chinatowns of 1930s so badly, mainly
because of Chinese s self sufficiency, frugality, reliance on family connection and avoidance of
frivolous debt. Their valiant teamwork helped them rescue from bankruptcy. Otherwise, Tourism
appeared to be a reliable source of cash such as the Forbidden City nightclub in San Francisco
Chinatown, hiring hundreds of Chinese women.

American Imperialism In Australia Essay
The reasons for colonisation by the Spanish in the Americas and the British in Australia had many
similarities. These similar factors included, improving trade routes, expanding their colonies for
wealth and power and obtaining new resources. In addition, both groups wanted to explore beyond
their own country. However, there were also a few big differences. For example, the British used
Australia for the keeping of convicts, due to the overcrowded prisons in their own country. They also
wanted to claim the land, preventing settlement in Australia from other countries, such as the
Netherlands (Dutch). An aim for the Spanish, in the Americas, was to convert more people to
Christianity, as well as becoming more well known and important. In the ... Show more content on

In both the Americas and Australia, the native dwellers were forced to relocate and adapt to new
circumstances, due to the taking of land by the Europeans, who felt that they had the right to, due to
their self proclaimed superiority. The weapons of the Aztec and the Aboriginal cultures were also
influenced in big ways after the colonisation; as they adopted many of the settlers more technological
weaponry. The Indigenous in the Americas and Australia were forced to change their religious beliefs,
and become Christians. The Aboriginals in Australia were sent to mission stations, and were made to
forget their own beliefs and traditions, which were seen as nomadic to the British.
The Indigenous people were thought to be inferior by the colonisers, and as a result, were the victims
of injust treatment. In both situations, the Indigenous people were met with torture and abuse, as well
as manipulation. Their rights were cruelly taken away and they were forced to become slaves for the
colonisers, who took advantage of the skills and abilities of the Indigenous people. In Australia, the
Indigenous Aboriginals were poisoned and hunted by the European settlers, and were victims of racist

Criminal Justice And Social Justice
4 Comprehensibly Linking Criminal Justice with Social Justice Although criminal justice and social
justice have some differences in the definition and extension, it is not to say that both of them are
completely contradictory. Because they are aligned in pursuing the value of fairness and justice.
Therefore, in the light of the discussion of the inexplicable conflict between criminal justice and social
justice, it is necessary to try our best to comprehensibly link criminal justice with social justice and
improve the effectiveness of judicial activities. 4.1 Improving the Legal Awareness of Criminal Justice
in the Public The public should improve the legal awareness of criminal justice. Based on the above
analysis, the public sometimes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the government should strength the legal work of fundamental education. The public is
lack of basic legal consciousness largely because the elementary education of laws is not widespread
in China (Liu, 2004). Thus, it could decrease the level of public acceptance in criminal justice. In the
light of the above discussion, the public judges the criminal act of a certain case using their legal
knowledge and accomplishment, the ordinary citizens do not have the higher legal accomplishment.
This is the reason that the clash occurs between criminal justice and social justice. Therefore, it is
necessary to add the fundamental course of laws in the elementary education and middle school.
Meanwhile, the ministry of education also should make the law course detailed and abundant at
university level. In doing so, the fundamental education of laws can reach a popular level in the public
instead of the surface and form. 4.2 Shaping Public Opinions The government departments should
consider public opinions rationally to shape the track of popular will. In other words, the court should
pay attention to the track of public opinions when they are dealing with legal cases (Barnes, 2015). On
the one hand, the court should not ignore the voice of public opinions, otherwise the court would be in

Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Research Paper
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a motile, rod shaped, gram negative organism. It is an opportunistic,
nosocomial pathogen. P. aeruginosa is reported to affect around 3700 to 4000 people per year.
Although P. aeruginosa is ubiquitous in the environment in things such as soil, water, and plants, it is
also commonly acquired in hospitals; especially in intensive care units. It rarely occurs in a healthy
person. The infection occurs in people who are already hospitalized or have a weak immune system.
An example includes, how a patient who is receiving chemotherapy for cancer, has an increased risk
of contracting the infection. It can be contracted through simply breathing it in through breathing
machines. If it affects the lungs, it will cause pneumonia. Pneumonia is associated with difficulty of
breathing.
P. aeruginosa may enter into the patient s bloodstream in a few ways. It starts when health workers
who are working with the patients do not wash their hands. It is then passed to the patients through
breathing machines, intravenous tubes, cuts or wounds. Once it has entered the body, is adheres to

Notre Dame Admission Essay Sample
Two years ago, when I was faced with the difficult task of choosing a college, I turned to my family
for advice. My three oldest siblings, despite their natural bias as Notre Dame alumni, helped me weigh
my options thoughtfully and considerately. Talking to them individually about their alma mater,
however, I quickly noticed a common thread between their musings which ultimately convinced me to
follow in their footsteps: each passionately emphasized the unique opportunities available to them at
Notre Dame, opportunities which elevated the school s role beyond that of mere instructional

Jon Krakauer s Into Thin Air
The particular descent ahead of those on the hill on May 10, 1996, resulted in the greatest loss of life
in the history of mountaineering on Everest. As news spread of the nine deaths (including that of Hall,
who spoke to his wife in New Zealand by radiophone as he lay stranded in a snowstorm on the summit
ridge), a barrage of questions resounded: What went wrong? Why was the approaching storm ignored?
And, most emphatically, why are tourists with more money than expertise being taken up Everest in
the first place?
Jon Krakauer was one of the survivors, and in Into Thin Air he relives the storm and its aftermath,
trying to answer those questions. As he sees it, essentially nothing went wrong, at least in terms of the
storm, which struck with little warning. Instead, the root of the problem lies in the famous explanation
George Mallory gave when asked why he wanted to climb the mountain, an explanation that still holds
true, albeit with a slight amendment. People climb Mount Everest because it and the money is there.
Mr. Krakauer was 42 at the time of the disastrous attempt on the highest peak in the Himalayas.

were a gentlemanly lawyer from Michigan, a 56 year old Australian anesthesiologist, a 47 year old

  • 2. Modern Metropolis, By Fritz Lang Tanveer Khan Kaliopi Pappas, J. D. Civilization 003 4 May 2016 Modern Metropolis Modernity is a new era in which humans began to think about themselves, and started changing from old traditions like religious influences to their own culture of radical new ideas. This era is full of rational humanistic ideas and increased the opportunities for people to go after their interests in life. Modernity is kind of like the days Americans live today with freedom to be who you think is right. People began trying to voice their opinions to higher authority, and eventually society picked up on giving what mankind deserved. For example, many people in the modern era tried to fight for their natural rights, and also some women requested for some recognition with rights like men. In the film, Metropolis, by Fritz Lang, there are various elements of modernity. Mr. Fredersen, who was the owner of Metropolis city, was very selfish and greedy for production that led to increase in revenues. He was married to Hel, who died giving birth to Freder. Rotwang was attracted to Hel, also a scientist, inventor, and kind of insane. He now hates Mr. Fredersen and his son for all the reasons he wasn t able to receive love from Hel. Maria is the religious figure where she stays underground in the catacombs to spread hope to all the workers that just left it all out at their jobs. The creators of the film made the setting full of modern buildings and machines to make things easier for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Postcolonial Lens Postcolonial critiques of literary works are often accomplished by reading and interpreting the work with a specific theme in mind or a lens . By allowing oneself to use a lens when reading specific works, it allows the reader to interpret the effects of the themes and the changes throughout the writings. The goal of the critical lens is to seek to understand the behavior of characters or the society ( Post Colonialism, 2016). A few of the most popular themes used to view literary works are identity, oppression and power; applying this lens can give the reader a different perspective and experience while reading the writings. • 9. Multitasking Persuasive Essay Examples Radio Do you ever feel like you have too many things that need to be done, but there is not enough time within a day? A solution to this dilemma has surfaced for it to be the revolutionary method of multitasking. Multitasking is the performance of two or more activities done simultaneously or by task switching. In modern day, it is evident (particularly in younger generations) that we are conditioning ourselves to multitask with the interaction of high media usage, which is occurring at an unprecedented fashion. However, this ability is not innate with humans and we have limitations to such skill. Furthermore, multitasking is a lifestyle that some people might yield to, for instance, because their workplace demands it from them, or because of its compulsion from being recognized as a popular trend. Employees who are demanded to multitask an abundance of assignments have a likelihood of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although multitasking is presumed to be a competitive skill in the workforce, businesses, in fact, suffer financially and productively because workers cannot concentrate effectively while facing distractions. Multitasking has been studied socially and psychologically, and has been proven that the ability to process two things at once is not a fixed trait within people. Consequently, time loss, learning deficiencies, short term memory loss, and proneness of committing error are byproducts from multitasking. Perceptibly, positive results from multitasking or task switching may be promising if the skill is practiced and is well trained. But forcing our efforts to respond to multiple tasks at once is detrimental to one s mind because of the brain has its limitations and is unable to do so. So then, it is imperative for one to operate assignments with proper attention and prioritizing them, so that we face fewer individual and psychological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Paradox Of Democracy And Imperialism In 5th Century... Plato once stated that Justice was about minding your own business and keep from meddling in the business of other men and in relation to the four major virtues of civilization, this could be interpreted in several different ways. Plato was one of the greatest philosophers of our history, and he had a theory that every civilization was built on four underpinning virtues that are Wisdom, Courage, Moderation, and Justice. While many may disagree that the Classical Greeks followed these four virtues, it was clear that in a sense, they did. However, it wasn t enough to consider them just, and thus, they did not create Plato s ideal civilization. To begin, the Athenians are not entirely just. While they may have been just in the eyes of man, in the eyes of woman and slave, they were not. In the article, The Paradox of Democracy and Imperialism in 5th Century Athens it reads, The idea of universal human rights would have been alien to the Athenians, who saw no need to grant women, slaves, and Metics equal rights to those enjoyed by citizens. (Chua 3). This statement proves that only the Athenian men had a sense of justice in the context that only the men had any stake in the society. • 11. Good Faith Exception Police officers, like the citizens they protect, can make mistakes. I do not believe that police officers should be held liable for acting in good faith. According to the United States Supreme Court, per Brinegar v. United States, because many situations which confront officers in the course of executing their duties are more or less ambiguous, room must be allowed for some mistakes on their part. But the mistakes must be those of reasonable men, acting on facts leading sensibly leading to their conclusions of probability. (PoliceMag, 2007). The Fourth Amendment protects the citizens of the United States from unreasonable searches and seizures. (U.S. Const. amend. IV). Over the course of history, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of protecting the police officers from any liability. My focus will be on the good faith exception and the exigent circumstance. The Good Faith Exception First, the good faith exception protects law enforcement officers who had reasonable intentions, but made mistakes with their actions. The Supreme Court first introduced the good faith exception in United States v. Leon. The Court maintained that the exclusionary rule is not relevant in situation when police officers act with reasonable dependence on a search warrant that later proves to be invalid. ... • 12. Petrified Wood 2. Background on the mineralogical composition of petrified woods A diverse suite of minerals and phases have been found in petrified woods from all over the world. The common species found range from pure opal to pure quartz whereas others include calcite, dolomite, pyrite, goethite, phosphates (apatite), laumontite, uraninite, sphalerite and organics (Nowak et al., 2005). In coal deposits inundated by sea water (Yossifova et al., 2011), the woods can be permineralized by quartz, plagioclase, muscovite, smectite, kaolinite and nacrite (a typical hydrothermal mineral). Cross polarized light shows that opal CT has very low interference colours, in contrast to the brighter colours typical of chalcedony (Mustoe, 2008). However, polarizing microscope images alone cannot resolve the degree of crystallinity of phases. For this, XRD and Raman microscopy are required to clearly identify chalcedony, moganite, orthorhombic silica, opal CT, opal C and quartz (HatipoÄŸlu and Türk, 2009). It is not easy to ... These results confirm the earlier conclusions of Heaney and Davis (1995) and Götze et al. This project was undertaken as one of the requirements to obtain my Engineering Degree at Universitas Katholik Atmajaya, Jakarta. The details of the project were: PROJECT : Create and Design a checking device for single layer printed circuit board (PCB) DURATION : December 2001 April 2002 LOCATION : Jakarta, Indonesia NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION: Universitas Katholik Atma Jaya, Jakarta POSITION : Final year student CE.1.2. Background CE.1.2.1. Nature of overall engineering project Manufacturing, including electronics manufacturing, is a major industry in Indonesia. To be competitive internationally, manufacturers attempt to reduce their manufacturing cost but at the same time increase product output and quality. Most manufacturing units use human labour to undertake quality checking, in this case to ensure the path on the printed circuit board (PCB) was not missing and that there are no scratches. These defects would cause the PCB to be defective, in turn making the end electronic products defective. Subsequent market recalls would cost the manufacturer a large sum of money and reputation. The flood occurred when a dam on the Little Conemaugh River, South Fork Dam, failed to support heavy rainfall flow that caused the river to swell and the dam to be overloaded. Unfortunately, a short fourteen miles down the river lived the people of Johnstown. Johnstown was a prosperous yet modest western Pennsylvania town. The town had an iron company called Cambria Iron Company, which employed most of its men in producing steel products. The town, at the time, had a few phones, three local newspapers, and a handful of saloons. At the time, they were self sufficient. Interestingly enough, fourteen miles up the valley, South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club, was set in the mountains and was a popular summer destination for the wealthy of Pittsburgh. The Enticing Paradox In Paul Simon s The Sound Of Silence Exploring the inner turmoil of the human soul is a fascinating subject that has captivated members of academia since the dawn of metacognition. Simon kicks off this incredible introspection by depicting his inner quarrels as a vision that started as a seed that is planted in his brain .
