Windy City Research Paper
Welcome to the Windy City
Chicago, Illinois is well known to be the home of many shootings, and other heinous crimes.
However, Chicago isn t always plagued by sadness, and bullets; it also has some amazing traits.
Chicago is made up of 234 square miles of dazzling buildings that look as though they go upwards for
miles accompanied by a beautiful skyline that never seems to end; fun places to visit, and exquisite
food. This classy city of almost three million people is surprisingly most known for its messy deep
dish pizza and loaded Chicago style hot dogs (What is Chicago known for).
There are so many different types of food; from Chinese to Italian, from 4 star restaurants to street
vendors, but what makes the food in Chicago so worth it? The city of Chicago is the home to some of

With reasonable temperatures in the daytime and cooling nights, fall in Chicago is the ideal trip. The
trees in parks and forests light the city on fire with the fiery reds, bold oranges, and exciting yellows.
The thought of being able to stroll leisurely down a sidewalk, taking pictures of the beauty that would
surround me sets fire to my creativity. I love fall colors and smells, the autumn season sends every one
of my senses into frenzy. From the smells of coffee that people are drinking, to the sounds of laughter,
and chittering teeth from people who didn t dress warmly enough. Seeing lovers hurriedly walking
hand in hand, trying to get out of the chilly weather, and the drip of the last night s rain as it slips from
the leaves, you can even taste the air, and how crisp it is. Though by late October and early November,
temperatures start to drop, and nights can be fairly brisk, I wouldn t mind. Personally I like the way
the cold turns my nose red, and makes me feel as though I can t breathe, and with every inhale my
insides seem to freeze, just to be warmed by a cup of hot chocolate, or

Global Warming And Its Effects On The Planet Essay
As Albert Einstein said Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better . It can
be hard, but not impossible to understand more about this ever changing universe. Without a doubt,
our planet as we know was not the same a century ago and it will not be the same a decade from now.
Due to this perpetual evolution of our planet s natural cycles, its inhabitants are forced to choose
between adaption or extinction. Meanwhile, an invasive species, or humans, has started a chain of
disasters that are accelerating global changes and, in extension, the crucial selection of existence. Over
the years, the field of natural science has increased human knowledge regarding our negative impact
on the planet. Despite this, humans have taken minimal action towards addressing the problem that,
considered a myth by some, is global warming. Many of us take our planet for granted, not realizing
that, in of its own, it consist of one huge ecosystem relying on all of its parts to function properly.
Because of this interdependence, action must be taken to minimize and raise awareness of global
warming on the arctic region and its resulting effects on ecosystems around the world. Occurring on
the entire planet, global warming affects individual regions at different intensity levels. Places covered
in snow, like the Arctic, are being disturbed by the rising temperature, resulting in a decrease of ice
and an increase of liquid water. To illustrate the immensity of this matter,

Benzocaine Extraction Lab
In this lab, liquid liquid extraction was performed to isolate a mixture of benzocaine and benzoic acid.
2.0107 grams of the mixture was first weighed out for the trials. When HCl was added to the mixture
for the first acid extraction of benzocaine, an emulsion formed during inversion and venting that
prevented a defined separation of the two layers. 8 mL of water was therefore added before continuing
the extraction. The addition of NaOH then turned the top aqueous layer basic, indicated by the pH
strips that turned blue when tested. A vacuum filtration isolated 0.29 grams of benzocaine and a
MelTemp apparatus measured the crystal s melting point ranges to be 85.1C 87.4C. For the base
extraction of benzoic acid, the aqueous layers were retrieved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the first acid extraction of benzocaine, the compound was dissolved in the organic solvent of
dichloromethane. When the mixture was shaken with HCl, benzocaine s amine group gained a proton
and became more soluble in water than dichloromethane. This allowed the newly formed hydrochloric
salt to migrate to the aqueous layer. However, the addition of NaOH to the acidic aqueous layer
regenerated benzocaine by deprotonation, making it insoluble in the aqueous layer. The precipitation
of an ionic salt was therefore recovered by vacuum filtration and had a tested melting point range of
85.1C 87.4C compared to 88C 90C, the literature melting point of benzocaine. The similarity in
melting point ranges, but low percent yield of 30.37% proves that the extract was somewhat
successful. Lower yields may be the result of spillage performed in the lab. In the second basic
extraction, the organic layer now included benzoic acid and benzamide. When treated with NaOH to
deprotonate benzoic acid, the newly formed sodium benzoate transitioned to the aqueous layer as a
sodium salt. Benzoic acid is regenerated once again after the addition of HCl and became insoluble in
the aqueous layer after protonation. Its precipitation was then filtered out for a 65.87% recovery.
Compared to its literature melting point of 122.41C, the resulting 120.9C 123.5C melting range of the
sample also supports the accuracy of the separation due to its similarities and high percent yield. In
conclusion, the usage of base and acid liquid extraction was mostly successful in this experiment
because it was able to efficiently and properly isolate the impure mixture into two separate
components of benzocaine and benzoic acid. By performing the techniques of extraction and vacuum
filtration, the similarities between literature and tested

Arthur Miller was born in New York City, America, on October 17th
1915. His father, Isidore Miller, was a ladies wear manufacturer and shopkeeper who was ruined in the
depression. The sudden change in fortune had a strong influence on Miller. The family moved to a
small frame house in Brooklyn. He spent his boyhood playing football, baseball and reading adventure
stories. After graduating from a high school in 1932, Miller worked in automobile parts warehouse to
earn money for college. Having read Dostoevsky s novel The Brothers

In the 1950s Miller was subjected to a scrutiny by a committee of the United States Congress
investigating Communist influence in the arts. He was denied a passport to attend the Brussels
premiere of his play the Crucible
(1953). A View from the Bridge was successfully produced in 1955. The drama was about incestuous
love, jealousy and betrayal.
In 1956 Miller was awarded honorary degree at the University of
Michigan but also called before the House Committee on Un American
Activities. Miller admitted that he had attended certain meetings, but denied that he was a Communist.
He had attended among others four or five writer s meetings sponsored by the Communist Party in
1947, supported a Peace Conference at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, and signed many appeals
and protests. Refusing to name others, who had associated with leftist or suspected Communist
groups, Miller was cited for contempt of Congress, but the ruling was reversed by the courts in 1958.
Miller was politically active throughout his life. In
1965 he was elected president of P.E.N., international literary organization. At the 1968 Democratic

Analysis Of Solomon Northup s 12 Years A Slave
Written by Solomon Northup and published in 1853, 12 Years a Slave is an autobiography describing
the horrible experiences that Solomon himself faced, within a span of twelve years, after having been
kidnapped as a free man, beaten, and sold into slavery. As a tribute to Northup s powerful memoir, in
2013 a film was created, also called 12 Years a Slave, which served to retell Northup s story through
the power of cinematic effects, actors, and cameras. However, even though the movie is based entirely
on Northup s memoir, in does not serve to accurately portray every factual and historical detail that
appears within the novel. Details such as the number of children Northup had, the characteristics of
the people he came across, to the severity of white treatments towards slaves, all seemed to have been
looked over in the making of the movie. This inattention to detail can confuse or upset those who have
read the novel, whilst on the other hand will falsely portray the time period, as well as Northup s heart
wrenching experience, to those who have not previously read the novel.
In the beginning of his memoir, Solomon clearly states that he only wished to give a candid and
truthful statement of facts: to repeat the story of [his] life, without exaggeration (Northup 1), however,
the film based upon the novel does not appear to stay true to Solomons wishes. In fact, the film
appears to have completely looked over crucial events which served to lay the foundation of Northup

The Kite Runner, By Khaled Hosseini
Khaled Hosseini once said: there are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood. Rape in
Afghanistan is said to be an epidemic, but according to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of the
term is a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time. Rape in
this country is viewed as something that is inevitable and cannot be stopped. Usually, rape also
involves domestic violence, hence the reason they re paired together. Contrary to common
misconception, men are raped as well as women, especially children of both genders. In the Kite
Runner, rape is a topic that is prevalent in and throughout the book. Bacha Bazi is even a part of the
Kite Runner.
Bacha Bazi is a phrase that is a significant piece of the plot of the Kite Runner. It alludes to the rape of
little boys. In the story, the protagonist, Amir, must go to Afghanistan to save his nephew from being a
bacha bazi sex slave. With Amir s decision to take action, he internally hopes that it will rid him of the
guilt he felt as a child when he saw Hassan, his brother, raped. His guilt manifests over time because
he did not support him by standing up for him. As part of the practice, rich people who buy the boys as
slaves sometimes them dress up in female clothing. Sometimes they re forced to wear fake breasts.
Prepubescent teens and even young children, specifically the boys, are seen as a socially acceptable
substitute for girls in this society. Afghanistan

A Tiffany s Tale
New York City wasn t always as glitzy and glamorous as people always made it out to be. In A Bronx
Tale, during the 1960 s, the Bronx streets in Calogero s (also know as C) neighborhood were ran by
gangsters. We witness discrimination and violence in a teenage boy s life, who finds himself right in
the middle of it all. The film, Breakfast at Tiffany s however, portrays New York City as elegant. The
main character, Miss. Golightly, is living quite the luxurious life after moving to New York City.
Although it may seem ideal, Holly, just like C goes through difficulties such as self identity and

film allowed Holly to live a life of fantasy by constantly allowing herself to think that Tiffany s will
one day magically invite her for breakfast. She ended up in New York City because everyone belongs

immigrants who did not have much of a difficult time were able to integrate Spanish into a new
society. For instance, Areli Martinez, a Mexican immigrant studying Psychology at UCLA, moved to
the U.S. with her family in pursuit of better quality of life did not experience much difficulty in
adjusting. From an email interview (see email interview above), she mentions her experiences as a

King s Gothic Naturalism
Naturalist writers of the early 20th century convey the notion that persons are fated to whatever station
in life their biological heredity and social environment prepare them for. Those who profess to be
proponents of the naturalist perspective see literature as a means to understand the nature of man.
Since the naturalist found in scientific discovery only a confirmation of humankind s helplessness in
the face of indifferent and inscrutable forces, their writings usually generate an uninspiring idea of
humanity s frailty (Strengell 11 12). While the deterministic worldview is logical, it is difficult for
many to resonate with powerless and doomed characters. Thus, the only way for the naturalistic frame
of mind to reach a wider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jack is a man who struggles to control his temper, especially when under the influence. Growing up
with an abusive father, Jack had taken his lumps when the old man was drunk, which was a lot of the
time, (King 229). That is how his father dealt with all his children. When Jack was seven years old, he
was spanked by a neighbor lady for playing with matches, and he threw a rock at passing car in anger
(King 160). Jack s father witnessed his behavior and punished him, physically and severely. Having
learned that Jack responds to violence irrationally, one is not surprised when Jack subsequently kicks a
dog into the gutter. Upon getting insight into Jack s past, one should immediately assume that Jack is
predestined to succumb to brutish behavior because he either learned this by watching his father give
his children their medicine or inherited it like a physical trait.
King highlights the extent to which heredity affects Jack when he notes that Jack s father s fate
resembles that of the main character in naturalist author Frank Norris novel, McTeague: A Story of
San Francisco (1977). McTeague is completely deterministic the epitome of naturalistic characters.
McTeague s father was an alcoholic brute, so when McTeague drinks and acts violently, there is no
question as to why he acts in that manner. According to Norris, heredity is more than a pattern of
learned behavior: it is something

internal conflicts that he experiences during his service as a police officer in Burma in the 1920s. The

He also expresses his discontentment about the British Empire in regards to their imperialism policies
that they were imposing on the people of Burma. The story revolves around three themes that is a
feeling of displeasure between the Burmese natives and the British, Orwell s pressure feelings and
imperialism resentment. According to Orwell, both the conquered and conqueror are annihilated in the

Carlton Pearson Essay
Oh, How Great the Fall of Carlton Pearson
In the 1990s, Carlton Pearson was pastor of one of the largest churches in the nation. He regularly
drew 6,000 people a week to his services at Higher Dimensions Family Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In
1993, he married life coach Gina Pearson. Through the rest of the 90s, he had one of the most watched
shows on TBN, filled stadiums with his evangelical conferences, and was ordained a bishop. His
Azusa conferences alone would draw upwards of 50,000 people each year. Then he decided his beliefs
were all wrong, and, by 2002, the Oral Roberts University trained preacher changed those beliefs to
accept the doctrine of inclusion. The doctrine basically says that there is no satan or hell and God
loves everybody regardless of their sin or lifestyle. As he continued to preach this doctrine, he was
soon branded a heretic by his church peers including the other bishops in the Church of God in Christ
(COGIC) and Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishops. By 2005, his church had less
than 20 percent of its membership and by 2006 his building was foreclosed upon.

The Legacy Of John Adams
John Adams was many things in his long and illustrious career. He was a lawyer, diplomat, farmer,
Vice President and President. He is most well known for being the second president. He did some
good things and some bad things. Although the four years of John Adams presidency were quiet and
somewhat forgotten, his successes in foreign policy and his control no doubt outweighed his failures
in the Sedition Act and with his cabinet, in part to his background and characteristics. John Adam s
greatest presidential accomplishment or success was his dealings with France in 1798. This incident is
better known as the infamous Quasi War . The Quasi War was a dispute between the United States and
France mainly fought over sea with each countries navies. It started with the United States refusing to
continue to repay the money that was owed to from a loan from France to help them in war. The
United States refused to pay because the money owed to the previous government, as similar to the
US. France had, had its own revolutionary wars and overthrew the old monarchy ending in 1799.
Since France had a new government, the United States felt no need to pay off old debt to the French
First Republic. Now the French were not happy about this, so they started to attack American trade
ships, which is called impressment. This was a way to help aid in their war with Britain. With the
France navy oppressed so many of the US s trade ships, this could have easily led to open war

Intrapersonal Reflection: Cultivating Self Awareness
During my conversation with Muria, I was mindful of learning about her as a person her interests, her
passion and her serious mindedness about what kind of help she would like to offer to the church and
why. I wanted to encourage her in every possible way I could, and understand what differences could
lie in various church roles and ministries. I advised her talking to the senior pastor and the executive
pastor so as to avoid providing any extra information about the church administration.
Since Muria is not a church member at the Evanston Vineyard, whether it is the English speaking

What Is The Weakness Of A Hotel Industry
3. SWOT ANALYSIS
3.1 Strengths
The first step to a SWOT analysis of hotel industry in India will be identifying its strengths. There are
more than 1000 classified hotels with a room availability of around 97,000 rooms which can easily
cope with the demand of tourists. Furthermore, there are also a number of international names in the
market which meet the needs of international tourists on their visit to India. In addition, there are
many tourist attractions and the cost of labor is low in comparison with the rest of the world, thus,
providing better margins for hotel owners and higher growth potential in the industry (Mohammad

Next in line is assessing the weaknesses. One major restraint to the hotel industry of India is the cost

Nigger to Nigga: Not Bad After All
When some think about the word nigger they immediately think about negativity and some might even
venture to say that it is a bad word. It takes you back to a time when blacks were oppressed and
demoralized. When blacks were looked at as inferior and not worthy to obtain equal rights in America.
But that was decades ago and it is now the 21st century. Not only have we changed the spelling of the

Many other races might also use the word in this manner but it is only acceptable for Hispanics
because of their increasing role as a minority. A Hispanic rapper by the name of Fat Joe often refers to
other blacks as nigga, but is ok but he grew up around them in a low income housing project and
therefore has street creditability to do so. This is also the only meaning acceptable for a girl. A female
might have a close friend that is a girl and refer to her as my nigga depicting her relationship with her.
So broken down in this context the word nigga is to mean a buddy or pal. Although the word has many
meanings they all have one positive goal and that is to uplift Blacks and not downgrade them
Contrastly, many older people in the black community feel that this word is disrespectful and is some
form of internal racism, which causes blacks to remain inferior in society. But how can that be the
case when we turned lemons to lemonade. We changed something with negative denotation and made
it positive. Even Hispanics call themselves essays which is similar to the word nigger in Spanish.
Also, the term Yankee , which is a term that has described Americans for centuries, was once an insult
by the British. So do we ridicule the founding fathers of this country for accepting this name? Even if
we did not change the meaning and spelling of the word nigger don t we have the right to call
ourselves the word (like the founding

Then, the present value of free cash flows can be calculated based on the discount rate (Appendix B).
According to Appendix E, the market value of equity is $484,185 million and the stock price is

I choose the mean of TEV/EBITDA and the median of TEV/Revenue as multiples to estimate Google

The As A New Way Of Telling Stories
The use of disguises in the arts has been around since the introduction of the theater. When eighteenth
century Britain latched onto the concept in literature, it took on whole different meanings. Disguises
no longer had to be masks or wardrobe changes, they could be taking on different personas or creating
different characters. Disguises had become a staple in literature, and authors were creating their own
worlds with them. In The Imperfect Enjoyment by John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, disguises allowed
him to create a persona for his work that allows readers to separate the author from the persona. In
Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe, Defoe acts as both the fake character of Moll Flanders and fake editor
of her autobiography to create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, once readers delve into the poem, the persona becomes even more apparent. The persona in
this piece exudes confidence, even in light of not being able to perform. While the persona continues
to get angry and frustrated over the situation, which Rochester writes in ( And rage at last confirms me
impotent, ), there is still the sense that the persona is disguising a confidence that Rochester himself
possesses (Rochester, 2206). For Rochester to take on this piece and create such an elaborate persona,
it shows his level of understanding of the poem, as well as his education, both of which would give
him reason to be confident. By employing this in the piece, it allows the writers personality to come
through, while still proving to readers that this is in fact just a persona. The most confident aspect of
the piece is Rochester s approach to the female companion. He unconventionally gives her lines in the
poem, such as All this to love and rapture s due; / Must we not pay a debt to pleasure too? , which not
only creates the idea that the persona did not give up in the poem, but that Rochester is confident in
his ability to create something more powerful from the Avid piece for his persona (Rochester, 2206).
The persona created by Rochester in his work allows him to explore subjects without readers linking
them to him. Defoe is able to use disguises

Alternative Energy For Renewable Energy Sources
Algae Biofuel
For many years the world has depended on one form of energy for transportation, and that is fossil
fuels. This means as our demand for these fossil fuels increases our supply will decrease dramatically.
As supply dwindles and costs rise, nations will be forced to utilize alternative energy sources. Coal,
both non renewable and environmentally destructive, is the most likely near term candidate for
replacing oil as a primary energy source. In order to achieve a secure and stable energy supply that
does not cause environmental damage, renewable energy sources must be explored and promising
technologies should be developed. Biodiesel derived from green algae biomass has the potential for
high volume, cost effective production. It can be carbon neutral and produced intensively on relatively
small areas of marginal land. The quality of the fuel product is comparable to petroleum diesel and can
be incorporated with minimal change into the existing fuel infrastructure. Innovative techniques,
including the use of industrial and domestic waste as fertilizer, could be applied to further increase
biodiesel productivity. There is now research going into renewable resources to replace these harmful
fossil fuels. One of the newest and most innovative of these resources is algal biofuel. (Olds, 2006).
Also known as algae biofuel, and oilgae, the majority of algae are photosynthetic so water, carbon
dioxide, light, and minerals are necessary for growth (Olds, 2006).

Then and Now: Changes of Racism, Sexism, and Classism
In To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Jem and Scout, the protagonists in the book, experience and
learn about the problems of racism, sexism, and classism when their father, Atticus, agrees to defend
Tom Robinson, an African American, in a trial. Set in the 1930s, most people were treated unfairly
because of their race, gender, or social class. Even though problems about race, gender, and class
decreased over time, these problems are still very prevalent today. Even though racism decreased
dramatically over the past decades, there are still problems today that are strikingly similar to the
problems in To Kill A Mockingbird. In To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus explains to Jem and Scout
about the unfairness of court: when it s a white man s word against a black man s, the white man
always wins. They re ugly, but those are the facts of life (Lee 220). Even though this was set in the
1930 s, juries from court still have a racial bias to this day. In fact, from the Sentencing Project, an
organization that advocates change in sentencing policy and advocating alternatives to incarceration, it
has been shown that African Americans are six times more likely to be incarcerated than white males...
if current trends continue, one of every three black Americans can expect to go to prison in his lifetime
(Sentencing Project 1). In the United States, people have come a

Conversion Xml Schema For Data Warehouse Schema
Assignment 3
Literature Review
Conversion of the XML Schema to Data Warehouse Schema
Introduction: eXtensible Markup Language is used mainly in most of the organizations for e
commerce and online applications. Indeed, XML has become the standard for representing,
exchanging the data among the various applications on the internet. Moreover, XML schema is used
for representing the XML document structure where XML data is associated with the XML schema.
Furthermore, data warehouse provides tools which business use the data for making the important
decisions. Correspondingly, data is stored in the fact table and multidimensional tables. Mainly, the
table association between them are generally represented with the three data warehouse schemas like
a) star schema b) fact constellation schema c) snowflake schema. Simultaneously, the use of the
internet is increasing day by day and by first integrating the data and secondly converting the data into
XML schema from the schema graph to the various data schemas. At first, schema graph is taken as
the model for the conversion of the data that is extracted from the XML schema and the data is
transformed into the various schema. Consequently, the data warehouse schema is constructed with
these fact tables, dimension tables and the relation existing between the graph and tables.
Mainly, in the data warehouse analyzing the large data helps the decision making process. Indeed, in
the data warehouse, the integration of the data from the

Analysis Of The Versace Advertisements
When one looks at an image from Calvin Klein, Victoria s Secret, or Versace, the first appeal comes
from beautiful models. These individuals are normally jumping, laughing and representing every
idealistic way of life by manifesting the idea of a blind promise. Unfortunately, these images are not
only created with the intent of being manipulative, but also to resemble the present history involving
societal roles. At the moment, Ads are able to capture the political ideologies or the social influences
in order to represent the position of modern times. On the other hand, the Versace brand recently
released a new campaign on Fall clothes bringing to light a different topic. At a quick glance, the
Versace Advertisement depicts the everyday family of four. However, through John Berger s Ways of
Seeing, the picture represents the hegemonic portrayal of male dominance, the suppressive forces of
society on women, and the influence publicity has on the surveyed. Through this lens, one can
understand the social relations and expectations publicity creates for individuals.
According to Berger, men in society signify an omnipotent authority. The hegemonic belief that men
must be masculine and worthy of power has been a cultural view since the beginning of time. In his
essays, Berger explains how God condemned women to be subservient to men, granting them control.
Also the author determines how a man s presence is dependent upon the promise of power which he
embodies (Berger 45). He

What are others doing?
Canada is not the first country in the world to address whether and how to legally recognize same sex
unions. Indeed, Canada is coming to the debate later than many countries. Several countries have
debated this issue for many years and have come up with a variety of approaches, ranging from same
sex marriage in the Netherlands to the legal recognition of domestic partners, registered partnerships
and civil unions in Scandinavia, parts of Europe and parts of the United States. Although some of
these approaches appear to be similar, each is quite different, as it has been created to fit the particular
society and to comply with the specific constitutional and legal structures in each country. Most

Alberta, in a bill before their legislature, has also raised the possibility of legal recognition for
unmarried couples. Some details are set out below. In addition to these laws, most provinces and
territories have now also legislated to provide some or all of the benefits and obligations of married
couples to common law gay and lesbian couples under provincial and territorial laws.
Quebec
Bill 84 — An Act instituting civil unions and establishing new rules of filiation — was passed by the
National Assembly in June 2002. The Act amends the Civil Code and a number of other provincial
laws to create a new status of civil union partners (open to both unmarried opposite sex and same sex
conjugal partners). Civil union partners have almost all of the same benefits and obligations under
provincial law as married couples do, including the legal relationship between the partner and any
children. A civil union can be dissolved by a court judgment, a notarized joint declaration (under some
circumstances) or upon the death of one of the partners. A partner to a civil union cannot marry
without first dissolving the civil union.
While ensuring equal treatment, the Act makes it clear that civil unions are not marriages, and retains
some legal distinctions between the two. For example, some provisions of the Civil Code that relate to
legal separation continue to apply only to married couples.

Mitchell s Motivation Theory
Motivation
Introduction
Mitchell (1982, p.82) describes motivation as the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to
engage in certain specified behaviours . Hence, in general, behaviour is determined by certain
motives, thus, Vroom and Deci (1992, p.33) considered motivation as the causes of our behaviour .
Moreover, according to Mullins (2013, p.245) motivation is concerned with question why do people
do what they do? , because motivation is an inner driving force which leads to particular action to
achieve some aim and fulfil some need. In other words, Chartered Management Institute (cited in
Mullins, 2013, p.246) observes that, the aim of management is to give people what they really want
most from work .
Motivation is a complex subject and traditionally has been cast as an individual phenomenon, because,
the uniqueness of each individual is a reflection of different needs, values, attitudes and goals. In that
case, Mitchell (1982, p.81) assumes that all of the main motivational theories allow in one way or
another for uniqueness to be demonstrated. Furthermore, different theories of motivation purpose
different reasons but almost all of them emphasise an individual and intentional choice of behaviour
analysis. As a consequence, Handy (1999, p.29) stresses that if individual behaviour could be analysed
and understood, then the individual motives could be predicted and could be influenced. However, no
certain formula exists. On the other hand, even the

The Challenges Of Poverty In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
Upton Sinclair s The Jungle was published in 1906 and was an eye opening revelation of the
workingman s experience in the Chicago stockyards. Sinclair describes the horrible work conditions
the workers endured and the unsanitary ways in which the meat was made and processed. Sinclair uses
an immigrant family from Lithuania to help bring attention to the hardships and unfairness that the
working class had to go through.
One of the main problems that Sinclair makes evident in Packingtown is poverty. The family in The
Jungle gets paid very low wages and many times, they barely have enough money to buy food. When
Jurgis, whose wages the family depended on most, was in jail, little Stanislovas visited him and told
him Ona is very sick...and we are almost starving and ...I only had a piece of bread for breakfast,
Jurgis (Sinclair, 142). With the low wages, it was also very hard to buy other essential things. During
the winter, the men would tie up their feet in newspapers (Sinclair, 67) because they couldn t afford
buying warmer shoes and at home, the family would sleep with all their clothes on...and put over them
all the bedding and spare clothing they owned (Sinclair, 69). The low wages weren t the only problem.
It was also very hard to find work. All day long the gates of the packing houses were besieged by
starving and penniless men; they came, literally, by the thousands every single morning (Sinclair, 66).
Later on in the book, Sinclair declares that the unemployment number reaches a million or two of men
who had been out of work in the spring and summer (Sinclair, 235). Without the low wages from a
job, it was almost impossible for a workingman, not to mention an entire family, to get by.
Another problem mentioned by Sinclair is the dangerous working conditions in the slaughterhouses,
The work in the slaughterhouses had to be done at a fast rate. In the beginning of the book, Jurgis
often marveled at their [the men on the killing beds] speed and power as if they had been wonderful
machines (Sinclair 47). The pressure to do the work fast led to many accidents. Of the butchers and
floorsmen...and all those who used knives, you could scarcely find a person who has the use of his
thumb (Sinclair, 82).

Open Carry Should Be Allowed In Schools
Watching the news every afternoon to see another victim assaulted, killed or abused with the use of a
gun makes my fear grow immensely. Many things can occur with someone that has a gun in hand. In
colleges and universities individuals have used their gun power to brutally kill students. Recently the
State of Texas approved open carry in school grounds. Open carry should not be permitted in Texas
colleges and universities.
The dangers of having possession of a gun on campus can lead to a larger percentile of death because

With students not personally knowing their classmates they are not familiarized with what they are
capable of doing with a gun in hand. Suicide is highly seen in college students, and allowing guns in a
campus would surely increase successful suicides. In particular, Skorton and Altschuler states, We don
t need to put more firearms in the hands of college students, a cohort that includes emotionally violate
young men and women and abusers of alcohol and drugs (630). With that, it allows us to understand
that with stress and with mixing substances students aren t in the correct state of mind. It distracts
them from thinking straight, and acting in ways they will regret and lead to great consequences. For

Information Storage And Management System
Introduction
With the development of technology, information storage and management have been vital of
importance. Information effectiveness and efficiency are determined by how well data is organised
and processed. The term data have been widely employed in different human activities, including
science, business, education, law and the like. Here, data is a means for representation of facts,
concepts, and instructions in order to communicate (Sumathi Esakkirajan 2007). Nevertheless, if data
management is ineffective, and relevant information cannot be found quickly, a large amount data will
become a liability rather than an asset of an organisation; thus, tools used for data management give

6). This literature review will consist of four parts. Firstly, it will briefly introduce DBMSs and review
the development of data models. Secondly, it will discuss DBMS products based on the relational data
model. Following that, DBMS products based on logical models will be illustrated. Lastly, strengths
and weaknesses between different data models will be demonstrated.
1. Overview of DBMSs and the development of data models
1.1 Overview of DBMSs
A DBMS contains four parts, the data model, the data definition language (DDL), the data
manipulation language (DML), and the data dictionary. To begin with, the data model describes how
data are logically constructed. Next, programmers use DDL to specify the types of information and
structure of the database, which is the important connection between the logical (how to perceive data)
and physical views (how data are stored and processed) of the database. Thirdly, DML is used to
manipulate the data, where end users or programmers are allowed to extract data in order to satisfy
information requests and develop applications. Manipulative verbs are included in DML, such as
modify, delete or select . In addition, the data dictionary is used for the storage of data elements and
data characteristics, including ownership, physical representation, authorization, and security
(technology guide). The use of a DBMS

##naga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, And Tokugawa Ieyasu
Three important historical figures of Japan history are the Japanese warlords Oda Nobunaga,
Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. The three of them put an end to the civil wars by uniting
Japan as one. Nobunaga was born in 1534 and died in 1582. When he was only twenty years old, his
father died. The Kiyosu Castle was taken over by him, and he used his new forces to launch an assault
towards his brother. Nobunaga succeeded and his brother was killed. His goal was to Rule the Empire
by force. He fought and took over a territory near today s Nagoya, won the Battle of Okehazama, and
took over Inabayama Castle in his early adulthood.
Many more successful campaigns were led by him. He went to Mt. Hiei and killed the warrior monks
there. A few years later, he destroyed a fortress of Buddhist believers along with the enemy forces in
their. Nobunaga was not a religious man, so he had no problems or trouble destroying these kinds of
people. The next year he won a battle with the use of firearms. One day while he was at Honnoji
Temple in Kyoto, he was killed after being surrounded by his own general. Nobunaga was one of the
most influential men in Japanese history. He is still remembered today during a festival that is held for
him each year on October 19 at the Kenkun Shrine in Kyoto.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi was born in 1536 and is believed to have been born a peasant. He became one of
Nobunaga s soldiers and over time became a very much trusted lieutenant to Nobunaga. After

Natural Resource Wealth In The United States
Various quantitative studies have drawn a statistical link between the level of natural resource wealth
and political regime type (Michael Ross, 2001, Paul Stevens, 2007). Looking at the bigger picture, the
Middle East region has defied two global patterns: it has become wealthier without becoming
democratic; and it has become wealthier without making much progress toward gender equality
(Michael Ross, 2012). The Middle East is characterized by having less democracy and more oil for
decades, than any otherworld region (Michael Ross, 2012). Yet, it is said that oil wealth usually
indicates authoritarianism; associated with corruption, economic instability, and conflict and the
United Arab Emirates may not be an exception to this. The United ... Show more content on

This unitary Islamic absolute monarchy possesses 18 per cent of the world s proven petroleum
reserves and ranks as the largest exporter of petroleum (OPEC, 2015), also is a member of the

the Gross Domestic Product, and about 85% of export earnings (OPEC). Although it is the world s
greatest exporter, its GDP per capita is only $24,454. Saudi Arabia ranks weakly on the Human
Development Index as number 59 of the 182 states in the world, and it is only number 8 between the
other MENA countries. Although Saudi Arabia s elite is very wealthy and large, a great portion of the
population barely receives profits from the state s wealth. It is ranked as not free relating to civil
liberties and also ranked as suffering hard from corruption. Also, the political parties in Saudi Arabia
are banned, and political organizations that oppose may only exist outside the country (Freedom
House, 2015). Even before the discovery of oil, the family that was in power depended on the
merchants of Jeddah, a Saudi Arabian city, to collect their taxes. When oil was discovered in Saudi
Arabia, that is when the country started to develop, just like the United Arab Emirates. It can be said
that if a country has strong institutions, stable economy, and a flexible political system, they

  • 2. Windy City Research Paper Welcome to the Windy City Chicago, Illinois is well known to be the home of many shootings, and other heinous crimes. However, Chicago isn t always plagued by sadness, and bullets; it also has some amazing traits. Chicago is made up of 234 square miles of dazzling buildings that look as though they go upwards for miles accompanied by a beautiful skyline that never seems to end; fun places to visit, and exquisite food. This classy city of almost three million people is surprisingly most known for its messy deep dish pizza and loaded Chicago style hot dogs (What is Chicago known for). There are so many different types of food; from Chinese to Italian, from 4 star restaurants to street vendors, but what makes the food in Chicago so worth it? The city of Chicago is the home to some of the world s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With reasonable temperatures in the daytime and cooling nights, fall in Chicago is the ideal trip. The trees in parks and forests light the city on fire with the fiery reds, bold oranges, and exciting yellows. The thought of being able to stroll leisurely down a sidewalk, taking pictures of the beauty that would surround me sets fire to my creativity. I love fall colors and smells, the autumn season sends every one of my senses into frenzy. From the smells of coffee that people are drinking, to the sounds of laughter, and chittering teeth from people who didn t dress warmly enough. Seeing lovers hurriedly walking hand in hand, trying to get out of the chilly weather, and the drip of the last night s rain as it slips from the leaves, you can even taste the air, and how crisp it is. Though by late October and early November, temperatures start to drop, and nights can be fairly brisk, I wouldn t mind. Personally I like the way the cold turns my nose red, and makes me feel as though I can t breathe, and with every inhale my insides seem to freeze, just to be warmed by a cup of hot chocolate, or ... • 3. Global Warming And Its Effects On The Planet Essay As Albert Einstein said Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better . It can be hard, but not impossible to understand more about this ever changing universe. Without a doubt, our planet as we know was not the same a century ago and it will not be the same a decade from now. Due to this perpetual evolution of our planet s natural cycles, its inhabitants are forced to choose between adaption or extinction. Meanwhile, an invasive species, or humans, has started a chain of disasters that are accelerating global changes and, in extension, the crucial selection of existence. Over the years, the field of natural science has increased human knowledge regarding our negative impact on the planet. Despite this, humans have taken minimal action towards addressing the problem that, considered a myth by some, is global warming. Many of us take our planet for granted, not realizing that, in of its own, it consist of one huge ecosystem relying on all of its parts to function properly. Because of this interdependence, action must be taken to minimize and raise awareness of global warming on the arctic region and its resulting effects on ecosystems around the world. Occurring on the entire planet, global warming affects individual regions at different intensity levels. Places covered in snow, like the Arctic, are being disturbed by the rising temperature, resulting in a decrease of ice and an increase of liquid water. To illustrate the immensity of this matter, ... • 4. Benzocaine Extraction Lab In this lab, liquid liquid extraction was performed to isolate a mixture of benzocaine and benzoic acid. 2.0107 grams of the mixture was first weighed out for the trials. When HCl was added to the mixture for the first acid extraction of benzocaine, an emulsion formed during inversion and venting that prevented a defined separation of the two layers. 8 mL of water was therefore added before continuing the extraction. The addition of NaOH then turned the top aqueous layer basic, indicated by the pH strips that turned blue when tested. A vacuum filtration isolated 0.29 grams of benzocaine and a MelTemp apparatus measured the crystal s melting point ranges to be 85.1C 87.4C. For the base extraction of benzoic acid, the aqueous layers were retrieved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first acid extraction of benzocaine, the compound was dissolved in the organic solvent of dichloromethane. When the mixture was shaken with HCl, benzocaine s amine group gained a proton and became more soluble in water than dichloromethane. This allowed the newly formed hydrochloric salt to migrate to the aqueous layer. However, the addition of NaOH to the acidic aqueous layer regenerated benzocaine by deprotonation, making it insoluble in the aqueous layer. The precipitation of an ionic salt was therefore recovered by vacuum filtration and had a tested melting point range of 85.1C 87.4C compared to 88C 90C, the literature melting point of benzocaine. The similarity in melting point ranges, but low percent yield of 30.37% proves that the extract was somewhat successful. Lower yields may be the result of spillage performed in the lab. In the second basic extraction, the organic layer now included benzoic acid and benzamide. When treated with NaOH to deprotonate benzoic acid, the newly formed sodium benzoate transitioned to the aqueous layer as a sodium salt. Benzoic acid is regenerated once again after the addition of HCl and became insoluble in the aqueous layer after protonation. Its precipitation was then filtered out for a 65.87% recovery. Compared to its literature melting point of 122.41C, the resulting 120.9C 123.5C melting range of the sample also supports the accuracy of the separation due to its similarities and high percent yield. In conclusion, the usage of base and acid liquid extraction was mostly successful in this experiment because it was able to efficiently and properly isolate the impure mixture into two separate components of benzocaine and benzoic acid. By performing the techniques of extraction and vacuum filtration, the similarities between literature and tested ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Catherine Carbone, a Study of Her Personality and an Analysis of Her Interaction with Other Characters Throughout the Play Arthur Miller was born in New York City, America, on October 17th 1915. His father, Isidore Miller, was a ladies wear manufacturer and shopkeeper who was ruined in the depression. The sudden change in fortune had a strong influence on Miller. The family moved to a small frame house in Brooklyn. He spent his boyhood playing football, baseball and reading adventure stories. After graduating from a high school in 1932, Miller worked in automobile parts warehouse to earn money for college. In the 1950s Miller was subjected to a scrutiny by a committee of the United States Congress investigating Communist influence in the arts. He was denied a passport to attend the Brussels premiere of his play the Crucible (1953). A View from the Bridge was successfully produced in 1955. The drama was about incestuous love, jealousy and betrayal. In 1956 Miller was awarded honorary degree at the University of Michigan but also called before the House Committee on Un American Activities. Miller admitted that he had attended certain meetings, but denied that he was a Communist. He had attended among others four or five writer s meetings sponsored by the Communist Party in 1947, supported a Peace Conference at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, and signed many appeals and protests. Refusing to name others, who had associated with leftist or suspected Communist groups, Miller was cited for contempt of Congress, but the ruling was reversed by the courts in 1958. Miller was politically active throughout his life. In 1965 he was elected president of P.E.N., international literary organization. At the 1968 Democratic Convention he was a delegate for Eugene McCarthy. Miller then married the motion picture actress Marilyn Monroe in 1956; they divorced in 1961. In the late 1950s Miller wrote nothing for the theatre. Miller returned to stage in 1964 after a nine year absence with the play After the Fall, a strongly autobiographical work, which ... • 6. Analysis Of Solomon Northup s 12 Years A Slave Written by Solomon Northup and published in 1853, 12 Years a Slave is an autobiography describing the horrible experiences that Solomon himself faced, within a span of twelve years, after having been kidnapped as a free man, beaten, and sold into slavery. As a tribute to Northup s powerful memoir, in 2013 a film was created, also called 12 Years a Slave, which served to retell Northup s story through the power of cinematic effects, actors, and cameras. However, even though the movie is based entirely on Northup s memoir, in does not serve to accurately portray every factual and historical detail that appears within the novel. Details such as the number of children Northup had, the characteristics of the people he came across, to the severity of white treatments towards slaves, all seemed to have been looked over in the making of the movie. This inattention to detail can confuse or upset those who have read the novel, whilst on the other hand will falsely portray the time period, as well as Northup s heart wrenching experience, to those who have not previously read the novel. In the beginning of his memoir, Solomon clearly states that he only wished to give a candid and truthful statement of facts: to repeat the story of [his] life, without exaggeration (Northup 1), however, the film based upon the novel does not appear to stay true to Solomons wishes. In fact, the film appears to have completely looked over crucial events which served to lay the foundation of Northup ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Kite Runner, By Khaled Hosseini Khaled Hosseini once said: there are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood. Rape in Afghanistan is said to be an epidemic, but according to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of the term is a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time. Rape in this country is viewed as something that is inevitable and cannot be stopped. Usually, rape also involves domestic violence, hence the reason they re paired together. Contrary to common misconception, men are raped as well as women, especially children of both genders. In the Kite Runner, rape is a topic that is prevalent in and throughout the book. Bacha Bazi is even a part of the Kite Runner. Bacha Bazi is a phrase that is a significant piece of the plot of the Kite Runner. It alludes to the rape of little boys. In the story, the protagonist, Amir, must go to Afghanistan to save his nephew from being a bacha bazi sex slave. With Amir s decision to take action, he internally hopes that it will rid him of the guilt he felt as a child when he saw Hassan, his brother, raped. His guilt manifests over time because he did not support him by standing up for him. As part of the practice, rich people who buy the boys as slaves sometimes them dress up in female clothing. Sometimes they re forced to wear fake breasts. Prepubescent teens and even young children, specifically the boys, are seen as a socially acceptable substitute for girls in this society. • 12. King s Gothic Naturalism Naturalist writers of the early 20th century convey the notion that persons are fated to whatever station in life their biological heredity and social environment prepare them for. Those who profess to be proponents of the naturalist perspective see literature as a means to understand the nature of man. Since the naturalist found in scientific discovery only a confirmation of humankind s helplessness in the face of indifferent and inscrutable forces, their writings usually generate an uninspiring idea of humanity s frailty (Strengell 11 12). While the deterministic worldview is logical, it is difficult for many to resonate with powerless and doomed characters. Thus, the only way for the naturalistic frame of mind to reach a wider ... When Jack was seven years old, he was spanked by a neighbor lady for playing with matches, and he threw a rock at passing car in anger (King 160). Jack s father witnessed his behavior and punished him, physically and severely. Having learned that Jack responds to violence irrationally, one is not surprised when Jack subsequently kicks a dog into the gutter. Upon getting insight into Jack s past, one should immediately assume that Jack is predestined to succumb to brutish behavior because he either learned this by watching his father give his children their medicine or inherited it like a physical trait. King highlights the extent to which heredity affects Jack when he notes that Jack s father s fate resembles that of the main character in naturalist author Frank Norris novel, McTeague: A Story of San Francisco (1977). McTeague is completely deterministic the epitome of naturalistic characters. This means as our demand for these fossil fuels increases our supply will decrease dramatically. As supply dwindles and costs rise, nations will be forced to utilize alternative energy sources. Coal, both non renewable and environmentally destructive, is the most likely near term candidate for replacing oil as a primary energy source. In order to achieve a secure and stable energy supply that does not cause environmental damage, renewable energy sources must be explored and promising technologies should be developed. Biodiesel derived from green algae biomass has the potential for high volume, cost effective production. It can be carbon neutral and produced intensively on relatively small areas of marginal land. The quality of the fuel product is comparable to petroleum diesel and can be incorporated with minimal change into the existing fuel infrastructure. Innovative techniques, including the use of industrial and domestic waste as fertilizer, could be applied to further increase biodiesel productivity. There is now research going into renewable resources to replace these harmful fossil fuels. One of the newest and most innovative of these resources is algal biofuel. (Olds, 2006). • 27. Mitchell s Motivation Theory Motivation Introduction Mitchell (1982, p.82) describes motivation as the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to engage in certain specified behaviours . Hence, in general, behaviour is determined by certain motives, thus, Vroom and Deci (1992, p.33) considered motivation as the causes of our behaviour . Moreover, according to Mullins (2013, p.245) motivation is concerned with question why do people do what they do? , because motivation is an inner driving force which leads to particular action to achieve some aim and fulfil some need. In other words, Chartered Management Institute (cited in Mullins, 2013, p.246) observes that, the aim of management is to give people what they really want most from work . Motivation is a complex subject and traditionally has been cast as an individual phenomenon, because, the uniqueness of each individual is a reflection of different needs, values, attitudes and goals. In that case, Mitchell (1982, p.81) assumes that all of the main motivational theories allow in one way or another for uniqueness to be demonstrated. Furthermore, different theories of motivation purpose different reasons but almost all of them emphasise an individual and intentional choice of behaviour analysis. As a consequence, Handy (1999, p.29) stresses that if individual behaviour could be analysed and understood, then the individual motives could be predicted and could be influenced. • 28. The Challenges Of Poverty In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle Upton Sinclair s The Jungle was published in 1906 and was an eye opening revelation of the workingman s experience in the Chicago stockyards. Sinclair describes the horrible work conditions the workers endured and the unsanitary ways in which the meat was made and processed. Sinclair uses an immigrant family from Lithuania to help bring attention to the hardships and unfairness that the working class had to go through. One of the main problems that Sinclair makes evident in Packingtown is poverty. The family in The Jungle gets paid very low wages and many times, they barely have enough money to buy food. When Jurgis, whose wages the family depended on most, was in jail, little Stanislovas visited him and told him Ona is very sick...and we are almost starving and ...I only had a piece of bread for breakfast, Jurgis (Sinclair, 142). With the low wages, it was also very hard to buy other essential things. During the winter, the men would tie up their feet in newspapers (Sinclair, 67) because they couldn t afford buying warmer shoes and at home, the family would sleep with all their clothes on...and put over them all the bedding and spare clothing they owned (Sinclair, 69). The low wages weren t the only problem. It was also very hard to find work. All day long the gates of the packing houses were besieged by starving and penniless men; they came, literally, by the thousands every single morning (Sinclair, 66). Later on in the book, Sinclair declares that the unemployment number reaches a million or two of men who had been out of work in the spring and summer (Sinclair, 235). Without the low wages from a job, it was almost impossible for a workingman, not to mention an entire family, to get by. Another problem mentioned by Sinclair is the dangerous working conditions in the slaughterhouses, The work in the slaughterhouses had to be done at a fast rate. In the beginning of the book, Jurgis often marveled at their [the men on the killing beds] speed and power as if they had been wonderful machines (Sinclair 47). The pressure to do the work fast led to many accidents. Of the butchers and floorsmen...and all those who used knives, you could scarcely find a person who has the use of his thumb (Sinclair, 82). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Open Carry Should Be Allowed In Schools Watching the news every afternoon to see another victim assaulted, killed or abused with the use of a gun makes my fear grow immensely. Many things can occur with someone that has a gun in hand. In colleges and universities individuals have used their gun power to brutally kill students. Recently the State of Texas approved open carry in school grounds. Open carry should not be permitted in Texas colleges and universities. The dangers of having possession of a gun on campus can lead to a larger percentile of death because of the low accuracy levels. With that, it there is no assurance that the individual is going to have a clear view point of who the target is. Through basic training and acquiring a license they are not taught to know who ... Suicide is highly seen in college students, and allowing guns in a campus would surely increase successful suicides. In particular, Skorton and Altschuler states, We don t need to put more firearms in the hands of college students, a cohort that includes emotionally violate young men and women and abusers of alcohol and drugs (630). With that, it allows us to understand that with stress and with mixing substances students aren t in the correct state of mind. It distracts them from thinking straight, and acting in ways they will regret and lead to great consequences. For example, If permitted destructiveness, health issues, burglary, and accidental murders will increase (Students For Gun Free Schools 635). In other words, college students are most likely to attend parties and consume alcoholic beverages, and there are high chances that students might disagree pull out a gun a shoot someone. Allowing guns it could facilitate the act of suicide having a gun at hand distance. Leaving a gun behind on accident can lead to a big chaos. Someone will most likely take it, and if they commit murder the person s name under the gun will be the primary suspect. As well with naïve gun holders can increase accidental ... • 30. Information Storage And Management System Introduction With the development of technology, information storage and management have been vital of importance. Information effectiveness and efficiency are determined by how well data is organised and processed. The term data have been widely employed in different human activities, including science, business, education, law and the like. Here, data is a means for representation of facts, concepts, and instructions in order to communicate (Sumathi Esakkirajan 2007). Nevertheless, if data management is ineffective, and relevant information cannot be found quickly, a large amount data will become a liability rather than an asset of an organisation; thus, tools used for data management give rise to the occurrence of database ... Secondly, it will discuss DBMS products based on the relational data model. Following that, DBMS products based on logical models will be illustrated. Lastly, strengths and weaknesses between different data models will be demonstrated. 1. Overview of DBMSs and the development of data models 1.1 Overview of DBMSs A DBMS contains four parts, the data model, the data definition language (DDL), the data manipulation language (DML), and the data dictionary. To begin with, the data model describes how data are logically constructed. Next, programmers use DDL to specify the types of information and structure of the database, which is the important connection between the logical (how to perceive data) and physical views (how data are stored and processed) of the database. Thirdly, DML is used to manipulate the data, where end users or programmers are allowed to extract data in order to satisfy information requests and develop applications. Manipulative verbs are included in DML, such as modify, delete or select . In addition, the data dictionary is used for the storage of data elements and data characteristics, including ownership, physical representation, authorization, and security (technology guide). • 31. ##naga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, And Tokugawa Ieyasu Three important historical figures of Japan history are the Japanese warlords Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. The three of them put an end to the civil wars by uniting Japan as one. Nobunaga was born in 1534 and died in 1582. When he was only twenty years old, his father died. The Kiyosu Castle was taken over by him, and he used his new forces to launch an assault towards his brother. Nobunaga succeeded and his brother was killed. His goal was to Rule the Empire by force. He fought and took over a territory near today s Nagoya, won the Battle of Okehazama, and took over Inabayama Castle in his early adulthood. Many more successful campaigns were led by him. He went to Mt. Hiei and killed the warrior monks there. A few years later, he destroyed a fortress of Buddhist believers along with the enemy forces in their. Nobunaga was not a religious man, so he had no problems or trouble destroying these kinds of people. The next year he won a battle with the use of firearms. One day while he was at Honnoji Temple in Kyoto, he was killed after being surrounded by his own general. Nobunaga was one of the most influential men in Japanese history. He is still remembered today during a festival that is held for him each year on October 19 at the Kenkun Shrine in Kyoto. Toyotomi Hideyoshi was born in 1536 and is believed to have been born a peasant. He became one of Nobunaga s soldiers and over time became a very much trusted lieutenant to Nobunaga. After ... • 32. Natural Resource Wealth In The United States Various quantitative studies have drawn a statistical link between the level of natural resource wealth and political regime type (Michael Ross, 2001, Paul Stevens, 2007). Looking at the bigger picture, the Middle East region has defied two global patterns: it has become wealthier without becoming democratic; and it has become wealthier without making much progress toward gender equality (Michael Ross, 2012). The Middle East is characterized by having less democracy and more oil for decades, than any otherworld region (Michael Ross, 2012). Yet, it is said that oil wealth usually indicates authoritarianism; associated with corruption, economic instability, and conflict and the United Arab Emirates may not be an exception to this. The United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This unitary Islamic absolute monarchy possesses 18 per cent of the world s proven petroleum reserves and ranks as the largest exporter of petroleum (OPEC, 2015), also is a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. The oil production is responsible for about 50% of the Gross Domestic Product, and about 85% of export earnings (OPEC). Although it is the world s greatest exporter, its GDP per capita is only $24,454. Saudi Arabia ranks weakly on the Human Development Index as number 59 of the 182 states in the world, and it is only number 8 between the other MENA countries. Although Saudi Arabia s elite is very wealthy and large, a great portion of the population barely receives profits from the state s wealth. It is ranked as not free relating to civil liberties and also ranked as suffering hard from corruption. Also, the political parties in Saudi Arabia are banned, and political organizations that oppose may only exist outside the country (Freedom House, 2015). Even before the discovery of oil, the family that was in power depended on the merchants of Jeddah, a Saudi Arabian city, to collect their taxes. When oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia, that is when the country started to develop, just like the United Arab Emirates. • 33. Sensors And Contextual Health Essay Sensors Contextual Health Information is the lifeblood of medicine and health information technology is destined to be the circulatory system for that information David Blumenthal Sensors with context are core of IoT (Internet of Things) momentum and sensors are going to detect events or changes in the environment. The environment could be your home, city, park, factory, mall or a human body. Sensors could detect changes in your body, blood or tears and warn us about the diseases like diabetes, heart attack or cancer in advanced stages. There are lot of wearables that are equipped with sensors can bring context to the mix to save lives or increase life span. iTBra early detection technology for breast cancer A smart bra, known as iTBra from Cyrcadia health consists of two wearable breath patches which detect circadian temperature changes with in the breast tissue. Temperature measurements are sequentially taken over time and anonymized data obtained from the smart bra is communicated to the Cyrcadia servers via smart phone. Cyrcadia s machine learning software, a series of algorithms categorize abnormal circadian patterns associated with the state of cancer. Smart patches are designed to be worn under any brassiere and can detect early signs of cancer at home, without radiation (no mammograms or ultrasound screenings). A breast cancer examination could be completed by wearing the patches for 2 to 12 hours. So far it has been tested on 200 patients and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
