Incarcerated Mothers In Prisons
The Association of Family and Concilation Courts (2008), discussed the history of women in
prisons and the foundations of the importance of the role of incarcerated mothers. (p. 3). In the
prison system an individual throughout history has been treated based on race and gender.
Women have had to bear the brunt of unfair treatment opposed to men. A woman has had her role
defined for her long before birth. In most societies women have been subjected to taking care of
the family, mainly as mothers and wives. What happened though when these roles were
challenged? Men were not the only type to engage in criminal behavior and become incarcerated.
Women also fell into the path of criminality and were also incarcerated. At first women were placed

These programs have effectively begun setting incarcerated mothers up for success. The prison
nurseries that are in place have taken the time to educate staff and set forth more education
programs for the mothers (Yoho Backes, 2015, p. 42). The emphasis has been focused on
teaching this women how to be proper mothers for their children and creating a bond that will
affect their children outside of the prison. Creating this bond has been found to be later in life
responsible for successful peer relationships and the ability to better cope with life stressors (as
cited in Jbara, 2012, p. 2). Although not a guarantee for the child to stay out of prison unlike their
parents it is a good indicator that it is less

Economic Systems
Introduction
Economic systems are organized way in which a state or nation allocates its resources and
apportions goods and services in the national community. An economic system is slackly defined
as country s plan for its services, goods produced, and the exact way in which its economic plan is
carried out. There are three types of economic systems exist, they are command economy, market
economy, and mixed economy. Command economy is also sometimes called planned economy. The
expectations of this type of economy is that all major decisions that related to the construction or
production, distribution, commodity and service prices are all made by the government. However,
in market economy, national and state governments play a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Prices also have the function to allocate and distribute a country s resources. Market leads to
complete effectiveness bringing about the best possible distribution of a country s resources in
a perfect world. This would only happen in a state of equilibrium and there is a unique price for
every commodity. But in a realistic world which is imperfect by nature, prices are never at
equilibrium and very unstable depending upon the vagaries of the market forces. This generally
harms people living below the poverty line. It is impossible for them to pay high prices in cases
of demand shortage. Thus, the free market model is not a viable option in developing countries
which has a large number of poor. Besides, producers are aim to minimize profit and maximize
rent of production. Examples of countries that are using this economy system are Hong Kong,
USA, and UK. Many developing countries like India and China are moving towards totally free
market economy. The command economy is government directed. The market forces have very
little say in such an economy. There is no private property. On the other hand, a command economy
aims at using all available resources for developing either in advertising or marketing. In order to
ensure that the required inputs are available, the state would probably conduct some form of input
output analysis. All industries act as the input from other industries and the producers act as the

Offseasons Case Study
Over the past two seasons, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has played himself into being
one of the 10 best QBs in the NFL. In the process of obtaining that status, he has put Redskins
management in a difficult situation just one year prior to when he becomes eligible for free
agency. At this point in the off season with just a couple of months until the draft, the Redskins
need to make what figures to be its most important decision of the offseason. On the table are three
options: the team could elect to put the transitional tag on Cousins and forfeit any chance of a
compensation pick should he sign with another team, they could use its franchise tag and assure a
compensatory pick, but put themselves in a position of upsetting Cousins because it would make
him a less attractive commodity to other teams, or they could simply let him walk as a free agent at
the end of the season and get nothing. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2015 16, his first year as the full time starting QB, Cousins responded with 4,166 yards passing
with 29 TDs and 11 interceptions. The Skins ended the season 9 7. While the team didn t fare
much better this past season at 8 7 1, Cousins continued to impress by throwing 4,917 yards with
25 TDs and 12 interceptions. The passing yards were good enough to place him #3 in the NFL
behind Drew Brees and league MVP Matt Ryan. With Cousins playing at this level, the Redskins
might be just a player or two away from being a serious Super Bowl contender. It s also hard to
imagine that anyone coming out of college in the next two drafts will be able to play at that
level in the next few years. It s that reality that points to Cousins having all the leverage he needs
over the next NFL season. One more quality 16 game season, and there will be plenty of teams,
see Rams and 49ers, that will have no problem stepping up to the table with a bucket full of

Germany s Economy And The Economy Essay
Germany While looking at an overview of Germany s economy and individual can tell, the country
is very economically sound and efficient. Even though Germany s economy is currently doing
very well, the still deals with different fiscal policies, lags and deficits, like any other country.
There are also a couple of other factors that play into Germanys economy, including banking and
financial institutions, and international trade.
There are two kinds of fiscal policies; expansionary and contractionary. An expansionary fiscal
policy per the textbook Macroeconomics Principles, Problems, and Policies, consists of
government spending, tax reductions or both, designed to increase aggregate demand and therefore
raise real GDP. Germany Cuts 2016 Tax Revenue Forecast Due to their migrant crisis. Their total
tax dollars will be lower than previous years to create pressure in their economy. They made this tax
cut so that they stop getting all the immigrants to move into their economy. Germany is trying to
keep their money within their country instead of new consumers (Bender).
A contractionary consists of government spending regulations, tax increases or both, designed to
decrease aggregate demand and therefore lower or eliminate inflation (Bender). German has a tax
reform that causes and increase in taxes on their fuel and energy. This is going to affect the
industries and the producers. They have done this because of the impact of the competitiveness. The

Michael Jackson s Song Beat It
Michael Jackson s song Beat It is a well known song by many all over the world, which is why I
have chosen to research about it. This song released, Feb 14, 1983, was an instant hit, and
peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single remained at the top of the Hot 100 for a
total of three consecutive weeks. Moreover, the single also charted at the no. 1 spot on the US R

Genocide In Burma
The Proposed Solution to the Genocide in Burma
The Rohingya or the minority group in Burma, have been persecuted by the mainly Buddhist
majority since the 11th century. According to Wikipedia, King Bayinnaung of Burma, one of the
country s earliest kings, prevented and persecuted any Rohingya Muslims from celebrating
prominent Islamic holidays such as Eid ul Adha and Eid ul Fitr. The following Burmese king,
King Bodawpaya, butchered four of the Rohingya s high ranking religious leaders for not
consuming pork, which is strictly against Islamic Sharia law. In 2012, events escalated when 166
Muslim Rohingya were massacred due to violence between the two groups ( Persecution of, n.d.).

This strategic power move targets a country s population. Social sanctions, such as banning
popular American and European websites (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) can impede the
progress of a nation s citizens causing them to be years behind the rest of the world. Another
example of social sanctions is prohibiting a country from international competition, such as the
World Cup or the Olympics, similar to the occurrence in South Africa when it was bared from the
Olympics and World Cup due to their racist apartheid regime. These sanctions can technologically
deprive a nation of most developments. If a nation is technologically deprived, it cannot compete
with other countries due to lack of sufficient knowledge. It also keeps its citizens enclosed in a
theoretical bubble, disconnecting them from the rest of the world. This is problematic for Burma s
government, a nation cannot advance into the future, if its people are still affixed, lingering to the
past. If there is no growth in knowledgeable professionals, Burma s officials will take notice and
realize that it is not in their best interest nor its citizens, to remain deadlocked in the past and will
hopefully terminate its regime on the Rohingya

As the last of the log cabin Presidents, James A. Garfield attacked political corruption and won
back for the Presidency a measure of respect it had lost during the Reconstruction period. He was
born in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in 1831. His father died when he was two. Determined to
succeed, Garfield worked as a carpenter and part time teacher while attending Geauga Academy,
located in Chester, Ohio. He supported himself with a part time teaching position at a district
school. From 1851 to 1854, he studied at the Eclectic Institute in Hiram, Ohio. In 1854, at the age

would vindicate their stand and re elect them. Instead, the legislature elected two other men; the
Senate confirmed Robertson. Garfield s victory was complete. In foreign affairs, Garfield s
Secretary of State invited all American republics to a conference to meet in Washington in 1882.
But the conference never took place. On July 2, 1881, in a Washington railroad station, an

The Unfair Political System During The French Revolution
Social reform during the French Revolution developed due to the unfair political system, brutality
perpetrated by the first estate, and the living conditions the lower class lived through, nevertheless,
the violence and genocide committed in order to create reform were immoral. Prior to the French
Revolution, people of influence abused the political system in order to allow them to live in luxury.
The government consisted of the first, second and third estate. The First Estate is composed of
kings, queens, and other royalty personnel which is around one percent of the population. The
Second Estate consists of nobles and clergy, which is equivalent to one percent of the population.

During the time of the French revolution people of the first estate, second estate, and citizens who
work for the said estates, were generally murdered violently either by mob attacks or the
Guillotine. The citizens of the third estate essentially wanted revenge on these people. The
guillotine originally was used by the first estate to punish the lower class, for example; if a citizen
from the third estate did not pay their taxes or they somehow disrespected a leader of power they
would be sent, as punishment, to the guillotine and be put to death. Ironically, throughout the
duration of the French revolution, the citizens who were previously affected by this tyranny used
the same tactics in order to create social reform. The citizens of the first estate would brutally force
people of power to death or subdue them to violent torture. An example of this could be when a
man named Flouon justly needed to be punished for crimes he had committed however the mob of
citizens brutally murder him by hanging him on a lamppost and then putting his head [upon] a pike
(II.22.223). In addition to this, another example of the violence and brutality committed in order to
create social reform is The Storming of the Bastille. The Bastille was a prison in France, which
essentially represented the authority of the upper estates, many low class citizens were imprisoned
there for unjust reasons. the time of the French revolution came around the citizen liberating the

Informative Essay On Richard Rozen s Life
Life has not always been fun and games for a brave holocaust survivor named Richard Rozen.
Richard was six years old when he and his family had to hide in a cupboard for thirteen months.
He and his family were then forced to move to the Lublin ghetto. It was dangerous for him there,
so he had to hide in a cupboard. Being a child, he would always disobey and look outside
wondering why he had to be in hiding instead of playing. What he saw is nothing a six year old
should see. He saw people who were killed and left naked. When he was about eight years old he
and his family were smuggled to a polish village. He had to dress and act like a girl so they
wouldn t get caught. Richard had to change his name to Marisa Ulecki. He was then soon
discovered and had to leave his mother and go join his father in Partisans for eighteen months.
Richards father was then soon captured by the germans and never to be seen again. At that time
Richard went and rejoined his mother. He then had to moved a lot he spent three months in

I ve always heard stories about the holocaust because my family on my mother s side went
through the holocaust. My mom s great grandfather was a Rosenberg and in order to escape, he
and his family had to hide and change their name to Rosenberger in order to not be on the list of
Jews as they fled to America. Richard s story has affected the world in many ways. The first way is
it helped people understand what it was like to be and to survive the holocaust. The second way
would be it helps people like me who have family that were in the holocaust understand it more.
The last reason is that it is inspiring to people. To hear how brave he was when he was six years
old. It makes people realize that if a little six year old boy can survive the holocaust, and grow up to
tell his story then we should be able to be as brave as him and face our

Overfishing Is A Serious Problem
Overfishing is a serious problem that often gets overlooked. In the article by Udy Bell, called
Overfishing: A Threat to Marine Biology, Bell talks about how only 1 percent of the world s
oceans are marine protected areas (MPAs). MPAs not only help protect oceans by allowing
habitats to recover from damage caused by overfishing but also allow fishto safely reproduce. Due
to fishingfish faster then they can reproduce, many species of fish are going endangered or
already endangered of being extinct. Species like whales, dungongs, sea cows, codfish, jewfish,
sharks, and other marine vertebrates are examples of fish that are being overfished. Overfishing
was addressed at the World Summit in Johannesburg, Africa in 2002 (Bell 17). At the World
Summit, many experts in the field of overfishing agreed that the most effective way to battle
overfishing is by creating and establishing more MPAs around the world. Although overfishing is a
serious problem, there are ways to solve the problem like creating Marine Protected Areas.
Gutierrez 2
Humans are the ones responsible for the damage caused to our oceans by overfishing. MPAs are
essential to preserve and protect the biological diversity of the oceans (Kechington, Ward, Hegerl
7). In The Benefits of Marine Protected Areas, by Richard Kenchington, Trevor Ward, and Eddie
Hegerl, talk about why MPAs are crucial to the prevention of overfishing. In a Food and
Agriculture Organization (FAO) study, over 70% of fish

The Civil Service Act Of Public Administration
The Pendleton Civil Service Act s purpose is to award federal government jobs to individuals based
off merit, rather than cronyism or nepotism. In the context of public administration, this law has
established benchmarks for the field of public administration, but it does not go without its
disadvantages. This act bred performance managementapplication in the public administration
community by establishing tests and performance measurements that certainly outweigh the
nature of providing government jobs due to party affiliation The act inherently eliminates a
disadvantageous federal job market, and seeks to benefit those who can perform to the
standards of the position. The benefits of this system outweigh its detriments, but I seek to
examine how this system works today, and if its initial purpose was carried on.Cronyism, the act
of giving jobs to friends and political affiliates, and nepotism, the act of giving jobs to family
members, are dangerous because they create a system based off status, and not merit. The
system this country had before the Pendleton Act was known as the spoils [or patronage]
system. This prior system awarded jobs to people based off cronyism and nepotism. While it
may seem harmless to award jobs in the political realm to people with close ties to a winning
candidate, the primary focus of those positions should stem from performance. An example of the
spoils system is if President elect Trump were to award a position of high influence on fair

Warsaw Ghetto Research Paper
Ghettos were put in to segregate, restrict, and isolate the Jews from the rest of the population.
Unlike Ghettos set up in medieval times, the Nazi Ghettos had walls around them and were
guarded. The Warsaw Ghetto was the largest ghetto in Europe and it was built in April 1940.
The Warsaw Ghetto was a residential district in Warsaw until it was designated as a Jewish ghetto
in World War II by the Nazis. (Warsaw Ghetto Facts). All the Jewish people that lived in the
Warsaw were sent to the ghetto. This meant that 30 percent of the population were forced into 2.4
percent of the city s area. They set up these ghettos, so the Nazis knew exactly where to find them
to persecute them (Holocaust Ghettos). The Ghetto was liberated on January 17, 1945 by the
Soviet army, and 300 Jewswere found hiding despite the fact that the ghetto was almost completely

Jews were not allowed to leave or have any contact with the outside world (Ghettos: An
Overview). Very soon after the Ghetto opened, barbed wire fences or 10ft walls topped with
barbed wire were built. The Jews living in the Ghetto didn t receive electricity, sanitary water,
food, and medicine. It is estimated that about 100,000 Jews died in the Warsaw Ghetto and
about 300,000 were sent to death camps and murdered. Many of the deaths in Warsaw was
because of starvation and disease. By August 1941, more than 5,000 people a month succumbed
to starvation and disease (Historical Film Footage). A big factor of why people were starving was
that they were not receiving enough food rations. The rations for the Jews were barely enough to
sustain life, at just 181 calories a day. That barely reaches the 10 percent of the normal
requirements. If one had wanted really to restrict oneself to the official rations, then the entire
population of the ghetto would have had

The Similarities Of Jack Ma And Indra Nooyi
Jack Ma and Indra Nooyi share very common similarities regarding their leadership stories which
appear to be strong catalysts in shaping their leadership purpose. They both came from rather
simple beginnings, Indra was raised by a strict conservative Brahmin family in Southern India and
Jack was repeatedly rejected for his plans of starting an internet company in America. Not deterred
by that experience Jack then returned to China with no money but a solid businessidea. While it is
clear in watching them that these are leaders who remain quite humble about their achievements,
Jack especially is someone who happily admits he has made a lot of errors on his path to success,

Along with this they both have excellent cognitive and behavioural complexity spoken of by
Quinn et al, this is demonstrated not only by their successes but having a strong view towards the
future of not only their respective companies but also the sustainability of the world. Indra who
states I think we re living in a world and worrying about the level of returns rather than the
sustainability of the returns (Institute 2014) and also mentioning leaders who run the company for
only their duration and leave the next CEO to pick up the debris (Institute 2014). By putting the
company ahead of her own ego this again draws a strong correlation to the humble nature of Jack
Ma and his plan of sustainability for the people and small business owners of China. Jack appears to
be someone who wishes to change China and ultimately the world for the better, made clear by him
saying I don t feel proud of how much money I ve made, I feel proud at how much I ve been able
to help small business (Business 2011), and to have people stop him in the street commenting they
opened a small store on TaoBao and they re doing well, it s clear that doing what s best for the
people resonates with Jack strongly, further strengthened by him saying When you have 1 billion,

Richard Van Camp s The Night Charles Bukowski Died
When defining the term manhood , many people may use terms such as courage, strength, or
bravery. Throughout history there have been many pressures on men to be as stereotypically
manly as possible. If men don t conform to those stereotypes, they may be looked down upon by
society as a whole. Richard Van Camp s short story The Night Charles BukowskiDied is a prime
example of the dangers of nonconformity to stereotypically manly traits. The story is an intense
first person stream of consciousness from the point of view of an unnamed narrator that follows
the narrator and three of his peers: Mikey, Jason, and Scott. The use of metaphor, point of view,
and setting in The Night Charles Bukowski Died exposes how stereotypical expectations of
manhood can lead to dangerous situations not only physically, but also socially and emotionally.
Van Camp makes use of metaphor to compare three distinct situations in the story relating to
manhood to animals. When Jason and the narrator are encouraging Mikey to be strong, the
narrator tells a brief story of an elder who was courageous enough to stand between a grizzly bear
and his grandson with just an ax and an attitude of surrender being completely out of the question
(33). In this situation, the narrator is doing his best to instill a fighting attitude in Mikey instead of
just letting him accept that Scott is bullying him. Later in the story as the narrator, Jason, and
Mikey are about to beat up Scott, the narrator recalls a lion

Secondary Hypogonadism
There is a condition where the ovaries or testes do not function properly and results in the lowered
or halted production of hormones (MedlinePlus, 2017). This condition is known as hypogonadism
or gonadal deficiency. There are two main types of hypogonadism, central and primary. In women,
primary hypogonadism is the dysfunction of the ovaries whereas central hypogonadismis when the
centers of the brain, responsible for gonadal control, function improperly (The New York Times,
2012). The authors in paper one studied the genetic etiology of patients with disorders of sex
development (DSD) (Kim et al, 2017). DSDs make up a congenital condition where the
development of gonadal, chromosomal and anatomical sex is atypical (Kim et al, 2017). They...

With that being said, patients who had onset after childhood malignancy had a poor response to the
treatments. The authors explained this could be due to the patients in this undergoing a bone
marrow transplant or whole body radiation (Kim et al, 2016). These results suggest uterine
development in women with hypogonadism to be dose dependent because the total dose of estrogen
was directly correlated with the final UXA (Kim et al, 2016). The purpose of this experiment was to
somehow allow women with underdeveloped uteruses to obtain the ability to conceive and maintain
a pregnancy. The conclusion of this study was that estrogen replacement therapy was able to induce
uterine maturity in young patients and increased uterine size no matter the etiology of
hypogonadism (Kim et al,

new laws, teach immigrants important skills, improved education, and inspired others to fight for
what is right. In 1888, Jane Addamsand her good friend Ellen Gates Starrwent on a trip to visit a

Another goal of theirs was to improve city life. The Hull House wasn t just a place where
immigrants could participate in programs and learn, but it was a place where they were able to
feel safe and get the support and assistance they needed to live a normal life in the large city of
Chicago. The Hull House helped and impacted people in countless ways. One of which, was that
reformers helped teach immigrants skills that they may have needed for jobs.
Immigrationtounitedstates.org states,ВЁOf Chicago s one million residents in 1888,
approximately 78 percent were either foreign born or the children of foreign born parents.
Because of the number of potential workers, the wages were low and poverty widespread,
especially among unskilled workers. This shows us that over half of Chicago s population at the
time, was either people who weren t born in America, or children of parents that weren t born in
America. That s where the Hull House comes in. Hull House reformers specifically taught those
people things that they needed to know and things that they needed to know how to do.
Reformers also went to the Hull House and gave lectures on economics and social issues. This
impacted them because when they didn t know the things that they were taught, it was highly
unlikely for them to get a job. But when they learned these valuable skills, they were more likely
to find work or a job. To add on,

historical contexts, such as Japan s self imposed isolation from the rest of Asia, and the rest of
the world, in the 1600 s to the 1800 s, and then looking at the more recent times marked by Japan
s return to Asia . An exploration of the deep roots of the defined Us vs. Them way of thinking in
Japanese society as well as its use in protecting the Japanese cultural and national identity will be

It wasn t until 1867, when the Tokugawa regime collapsed, that Japan was united under the direct
imperial rule of the Meji emperor, embarking on a quest to build a modern nation state which
included the use of westernization, in order to defend, build, and strengthen Japan (McVeigh, 67).
Furthermore, it was in the 1870 s where Arinori Mori, Japan s first Ambassador to America,
suggested that English should be considered as the national language of Japan because the Japanese
language had become too intricate and corrupted from earlier Chinese influence (Joseph, 2011).
This suggestion was overpowered, and consequently caused nationalists to rebel against the western

assassination of Mori directly lead to the reduction of western culture influence in Japan, although

Also because the two clothed men are wearing dark clothes, the nude female obviously pops out
from the background and grabs viewers attention. I can see where the light hits in different areas,
but the nude female takes the main light source, and therefore, the landscape background smoothed
out the light. Tradition to this time era, Manet s techniques were extraordinary and brush strokes
become much less developed. Most of his brush strokes have been done in free handed. Focusing
on the nude female, her skin is not smoothed out with value of color and brush techniques. Also the
background is containing a rough brush strokes. During this time period, most of the artists are
hiding brush strokes for their technique, but Manet did the opposites. It is obvious to see each
brush stroke in nude female giving a rough complexion. In the background, also this style of rough
brush strokes are made noticeable, and this even seems unfinished. Manet was free with technique.
He did not try to hide or to follow the trends; indeed, some scenes in the painting seem unfinished.

Social Constructivism Essay
Constructivism is a type of method that has changed and continues to change with time. It has been
stated that due to the fact of the ever changing definition many have called the definition empty.
According to Kretchmar (2017), So many different definitions currently exist some scholars believe
constructivism has been emptied of meaning altogether. Sofie M. M. Loyens and David Gijbels
(2008), defines constructivism as the way in which people try to make sense of situations or, in
other words, how people create meaning (p. 351). There are two specific kinds of constructivism,

Dewey also believed that ideas are important being that they lead the way for creativity, hence,
providing students with a way to find solutions by combining ideas so that they produce a way of
action to get started towards the solution (Carvin, 2006). Dewey feels like students would benefit
more from real world experience, something he called directed living (Jones, 2008). Dewey felt that
through directed living would come freedom. He equalized freedom with growth. The next theorist
was Jean Piaget. Piaget focused more on cognitive constructivism and social constructivism. He
based his theory off of enhancing student s logical and conceptual growth. Piaget referred to this as
cognitive structure (Jones, 2008). Piaget emphasized schema and how teachers influence the
students. Piaget s theory includes assimilation and accommodation, which are processes children
go through as a search for balance or equilibration (Wadsworth, 2004) . He wanted teachers to be
an aid, not some walking textbook. Piaget s theory was to make students critical thinker. The last
theorist was Lev Vygotsky. Vygotsky believed teachers served as mediators who coached and
encouraged students to formulate their own level of understanding (Carvin, 2006). He believes
more so in the social aspect of constructivism.
When it comes to bringing constructivism into the classroom it can be useful since it applies to
several types of teaching practices. Many teachers use the constructivist

Discovery Of The Nazi Death Camps
Discovery of the Nazi death camps at the end of World War II sent shockwaves throughout the
entire world and brought to question how civilized humans could participate in the atrocity of
what is now known as the Holocaust. Although from the beginning, it was clear Nazi s believed
Jews and other races were inferior to the Aryan race, the idea of genocide was not their original
intent. How then were German soldiers able to exterminate Jews without question? Christopher
Browning in his book Ordinary Men dives into the human psyche to try and recreate the
possibilities in which the German soldier were able to carry out these horrifying acts. Easiest of
Browning possibilities to understand why the Germans were capable of these terrible acts are the
fundamentals of a race war. Initialized by seeing a fellow comrade falling to the onslaught of the
enemy and engulfing them with hate, thus allowing the killing of a certain race without empathy
for their actions. However, how could this mentality be contributed to the Reserve Police Battalions
when they had never encountered combat? Early on in the war [they] felt the need to provide
justification. They were shot, he explained, because they had been encountered without the Jewish
star during roundup... (Browning 16) justification described as that is not from men feeling racial

Collective Remembrance Essay
The relatively new historical branch of collective remembrance, when applied to the collective
memories of Britain and the Soviet Union, reveals much more disparity than resemblance in the
way these two nations remembered, and still remember, the Second World War. The collective
remembrance of Britain is different from that of Russiabecause while the Soviet Unionutilized
similar styles of ceremony and commemoration as Britain did to promote a continued remembrance
of the war, the Soviet Union was unique in the silence of the unspoken grief of millions that lay in
more than the war itself, but in a history of repression and abuse at the hands of the state. Britain,
on the other hand, dealt with the memory of the war by making it front and center in a new
narrative of British patriotism. While both countries created myths about the war... Show more

As Catherine Merridale points out, Those affected come from generations who knew little or
nothing of large scale suffering at first hand, but whose lives were marked by the silences and
undiscussed distinctiveness of their parents. The Soviet state was, for a time, adept at devising
patriotic ceremonial commemorations of WWII. While these did present a more edited version of
reality, it is not necessarily to say that they were inherently false. Britain, on the other hand, got
caught in its own enthusiasm to present the war s history, and in doing so created a different
history that changed Britain from the elitist imperial power to the egalitarian nation who defeated
the Nazis. While historians continue to work diligently to reveal an accurate picture of Britain
during the war, the national myth continues to play a strong role in Britain s sense of identity.
Even today, movies continue to be made portraying Britain s heroic role during World War II. In
both cases, more must be done to represent the past with a greater degree of

Teaching Assistant Essay
The traditional classroom, staffed by a single teacher is rapidly disappearing in schools across the
UK. (Wilson et al, 2003, cited in Parker, 2009)
Teaching Assistants
There are many titles currently in use to describe the role of a teaching assistant, such as:
classroom assistant (Lee and Mawson, 1998), learning support assistant (Farrell et al., 2000),
teaching aides (Hall et al., 1995), para educators (French and Chopra, 1999) and auxiliary support
(McGarvey et al., 1996). In the past, teaching assistants (TAs) were appointed as and when
needed in an informal manner. For example, if a need arose to support a student with special
educational needs (SEN), or if a bit of extra cash came to the school then a teaching assistant would
be employed. However, it is now widely recognised that a teaching assistant post should be properly
advertised (Watkinson, 2010). There has been a noticeable growth of teaching assistants over the
years; according to the Department for Education (2014), there has been an increase of 4.9%
between 2012 and 2013. In line with this, there is now notably a need for job descriptions and
recognition of the successful candidate as becoming a full member of the school staff.
The changing role of a teaching assistant
The role of a teaching assistant has dramatically changed over the years and continues to do so.
There are both arguments in support of the use of teaching assistant and against. An example of this
is Blatchford et al. (2006) who reported

Physical Evidence As Document
Buckland s article raises the question of what is a Document . Buckland gathers opinions from
different articles and documentalists, and explains from different perspectives. From my point of
view, I agree the opinion of Physical Evidence as Document. (Buckland 1997) The document should
not be a natural object or element without any human interpretation or reproduction. It s true that as
mentioned in the article, stones like fossils, are documents but they are natural objects. However,
these stones can convey or express information with human interpretation. For example, the fossils
can tell the existence of an animal, and the life condition in that era. In the article of Enduring

Czech Republic And The Republic
The Czech Republic is located nearly in the center of Europe and was recently known as
Czechoslovakia. The Czech Republic is bordered by Slovakia, Germany, Poland, and Austria. The
Czech Republic was a part of Czechoslovakia until 1993 when it split into both the Czech Republic
and Slovakia. With it being a fairly new country, one would assume that it is struggling to catch up
to society economically, this is simply untrue, because the Czech Republicis one of the most
economically stable countries in Europe. The Czech Republic has been a member of the European
Unionsince it joined in 2004. The Czech Republic is one of the most economically profitable
countries inside the European Union. The Czech Republic is a smaller country, only being
around 30,450 square miles big, a little less than half the size of New York state and roughly 22
times smaller than the state of Alaska. Although it is small, its location is very beneficial when
it comes to importing and exporting. All of the bordering countries of the Czech Republic are
members of the European Union, so they all share lower taxes on imports and exports as well as
more economic freedom when trading amongst each other. Because of this, the barriers of entry to
the Czech Republic are almost nonexistent. The recent history of the Czech Republic has been
somewhat small being that it only became a country 22 years ago. According to Carter et al, the
Velvet Revolution of 1989 back when the Czech Republic was part of

Art Criticism Of The Baroque Era
The Musicians In art criticism, the word Baroque came to be used to describe anything irregular,
bizarre, or otherwise departing from established rules and proportions, (Britannica, 2016).
Caravaggio, born Michelangelo Merisi (1571), an Italian painter, can be said almost single
handedly to have created the Baroquestyle during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
None other can be more appropriately defined as Baroque than Caravaggio; his character, like his
art, was confrontational and uncompromising, and both loved and hated. He introduced a
powerfully frank realism and dramatic, theatrical lighting and gesture into Italian Baroque art.
Caravaggio s unvarnished realism and tenebrism influenced nearly every important European artist
of the seventeenth century. (Stokstad, Cothren). By the end of the 16th century, art began to break
away from the refined and disciplined style of mannerism, heavily influenced by the Counter
Reformation of the Church, and emergence of powerful monarchies. This movement comes to be
known as the Baroque Era. Baroque artists were particularly focused on natural forms, spaces, color,
and the use of light in order to create a strong emotional experience; almost theatrically, inviting the
viewer to participate in the story. The Catholic Church found itself needing to influence and rebuild
its following; turned its attention to the arts. The Counter Reformation used the arts to appeal as
much to the emotions and knowledge

Difference Between Liberal And Difference Feminism
King, 1 Sheridan Louise King Midterm POL192b: Legal Theory 1. What is the difference between
liberal and difference feminism? In order to differentiate liberal feminism from difference
feminism, it is important to clarify on the outset the exact definition of each term. According to
Martha Fineman (2005), feminism can be defined as a gender based theory focusing on challenging
the assertions and assumption revolving gender neutrality. Specifically, feminism deals with the
assumptions and values based on gender that generate gender and societal inequalities. In this
context, therefore, liberal feminism can be defined as the idea that emphasizes women s likeliness
with men, and thus, deals both with banning treatment that fosters gender bias and also establishing
laws and regulations that cater to equal opportunities for both men and women (Fineman, 2005).
Conversely, difference feminism holds the idea of different treatment, in which equal treatment is
not seen as sufficient (Fineman, 2005). With these clarifications, therefore, it is clear that liberal
feminism and difference feminism contrast due to their conflicting ideas in gender treatment.
Primarily, liberal feminism outlaws any and all bias behavior discriminating against gender types,
whereas difference feminism resorts to the idea that the difference of gender essentially calls for
different treatment, hence men and women should be treated differently (Fineman, 2005). The
difference in these two ideas, thus, lies

Benefits Of Stereotyping
Stereotyping is useful although only used if to make things easier and the goal is for
empowerment and improvement. I have a son who has a learning disability and in this case this
term can get sticky!
Most people automatically assume that speaking, communication and interaction with someone
with a learning disability is difficult, impossible and some may say useless. These are stereotypes
that are unproductive.
Yet knowing that people feel this way is an empowerment to those who work so diligently to make
sure that this does not happen. By stereotyping say a child with slow processing speed or ADHD as
a child that cannot pay attention long or needs things to be concrete and direct you know how to
hold a conversation effectively. Without these stereotyping characteristics there is bound to be
information that is not received. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Be very specific. When he looks as if he has no idea what I am talking about....it is just that. And
most children with the same type of disability have the same hardships with communication!!!
Wow, I cannot believe I am saying this!!! I never realized or sat and thought that by stereotyping
different things it can be useful....again only if it is done in the manner of making it useful. I think
without singling out the disabilities and stereotyping and generalizing the specifics of somethings
there would be less advancements. This must be why professionals do constant testing to make
sure that they do not stereotype a child into one category and leave that stereotype as a label!
Again making sure that is is always for the betterment of the child not what we know of a typical

The Corruption Of Hope In Uncle Tom s Cabin
If the structure of melodrama, according to some critics, is lead characters experiencing one
disappointed hope to the next, until the dramatic resolution ... [finally] satisfies theses hopes [by]
rewarding virtue and punishing vice, then hope plays a substantial roll in the plays we have read
for the second half of the semester. To bring all the plays together under one definition, I would
define hope as a belief that providence, although not necessarily Christian, will provide for the
good of the many. In all eight plays we have studied, this central, albeit nebulous framework,
applies to all of the lead characters as motivation, and therefore, propulsion of the plot. In Stirling s
Cabin Boy, hope takes the form of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Akin s play the pastoral has been corrupted. The evils and vices we most closely associate with
the city are reversed and the raw landscape tarnished by the institution of slavery. However, this
corruption does not extend itself to the figure of Uncle Tom. Even though Tom operates in a
system of slavery that is completely devoid of law, he still uses his moral compass of
Christianity to make moral choices. For example, Uncle Tom could have very easily run off
with the 500 dollars belonging to his master, but follows his orders out of his love for the Lord.
Out of obedience to his Christian master, God, he abides in his worldly master. Obviously, this is
a plantacratic argument, and perhaps Uncle Tom should have run off with the money, but he
provides the audience with a sense of hope because he is rewarded in the afterlife. With an
institution as fundamentally evil as chattel slavery, one of the only spaces for belief in providence
for the many is in the form of Heaven, which comes only after death. The last scene of the play, the
Apotheosis of Uncle Tom, proves that the masses(slaves) will experience goodness if they use
Christianity as a moral compass by which to conduct

Challenges Facing The American Automotive Industry Essay
CHALLENGES FACING THE AMERICAN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY3 The American
automotive industry faces several environmental challenges. It has to stand up to foreign
competition in the global market. Laws that regulate things such as emissions are always a concern.
Automobiles produced by the industry may not be many consumers first choice based on the
consumers geographic whereabouts or that a certain foreign automobilebrand almost has a
monopoly on a geographic area. The global automotive industryis constantly evolving, so the
American automotive industry must evolve alongside it. The American automotive industry must
come up with creative ways in order to overcome these environmental challenges. The American
automotive industry always has to defend itself from foreign competition. For example, in 2012
only 21,150 vehicles cars, trucks, and buses were imported from the United Statesinto Japan, but
131,080 vehicles were imported from Germany (JAMA, 2013). This just goes to show that, at least
in certain geographical areas, the United States does not even come close to leading the market in
industry sales. Since there is really nothing that the industry can do to counteract this, it must
establish itself as a market leader in the domestic market. One of the ways that the American
automotive industry has incentivized purchasing American made vehicles as opposed to importing
foreign made vehicles is to impose a duty on most foreign made vehicles. Canadian made vehicles

Describe The Pathogenesis Behind Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become brittle and lose their durable architecture. This
condition can be caused as a side effect of some drugs such as corticosteroids, hormonal changes or
due to nutritional deficiencies. The pathogenesis behind osteoporosis is an imbalance between bone
catabolism and anabolism; which nutritioncontributes greatly to. The two main nutrients that are
implicated with bone turnover are calcium and vitaminD, and a deficiency in either of them can
result in impaired bone matrix deposition. Calcium and vitamin D are tightly linked; the body
cannot benefit from either if they are not present together. Calcium is one of the major components
of bone and regardless of the amount of intake, it cannot be absorbed

Gender Roles Of Odysseus And Penelope In Homer s Odyssey
Traditional gender roles unfortunately remain an influential part of society today. In some parts of
the world, it is illegal for women to do anything without the permission or sometimes even
accompaniment of a male guardian. While it is true that the world has made considerable progress
in eliminating gender stereotypes overall, there is much work that has yet to be done, and people
must continue to strive for equality in order to eliminate unhealthy relationships like that of
Odysseusand Penelopein Homer s Odyssey. The epic poem explores Odysseus unnecessarily long
journey home after helping Greece win the Trojan War while his wife Penelope waits for him in
Ithaca. The contrast between Penelope s faithfulness at home and how Odysseus often strays from
his path of return, in many cases by being unfaithful to his wife, highlights the traditional
expectations set for men and women during this time and how differently they are supposed to
behave.
Odysseus yearning for adventure spurs him to explore the many places he encounters without
having a need to, causing his route home to be particularly indirect. After landing on the island
of the Cyclops, Odysseus deems it a good idea for him to explore the island, even though he
knows that the people he meet may not be friendly. He takes a group of men to find out what the
mainland natives are / for they may be wild savages and lawless, / or hospitable and god fearing
men (Book IX, 187 189). Odysseus is putting himself and

Patients should also be engaged in exercises in order to reduce weight. Overweight and obese
patients pose a huge problem in management of bed sores. They are rigid, immobile and very
inactive. The suggested exercises are advised to be considered for reduction of weight, increasing
flexibility of joints, promote blood flow as well as strengthening of muscles and bones. These
exercises should be supplemented with proper feeding, repositioning as well as other methods used
to reduce pressure sores.

This was compared to the normal ICU beds, which are noted to propagate formation of bed sores.
Other types of weight pressure distribution tools include beds that are air fluidized, turning beds,
beds with lower air loss, water filled beds, fiber filled beds, silicone filled beds as well as bead
filled beds.
Repositioning
Repositioning of patients prone to pressure sores refers to turning these patients in order to
promote aeration and prevent excessive pressure being exerted on one body part for a long time.
Research has demonstrated that turning of these patients every 4 hours with foam mattresses
developed from visco elastic polyurethane has superiority in outcome compared with lack of
turning of these patients. The same research indicated that turning these patients every 4 hours has
better outcome in reducing risk of grade 1 and grade 2 bed sores than turning them once daily on
the same foam mattresses. This 4 hour turning schedule also has been shown to have little
significant results compared a 2 hour turning schedule on the foam mattresses made of visco elastic
polyurethane (Vanderwee, Grypdonck, De, Defloor, 2007). Nursing interventions in repositioning
of these bedridden patients include occasional turning of these patients from one side to the next.
The basis for this is to facilitate air circulation and relieving body

  • 2. Incarcerated Mothers In Prisons The Association of Family and Concilation Courts (2008), discussed the history of women in prisons and the foundations of the importance of the role of incarcerated mothers. (p. 3). In the prison system an individual throughout history has been treated based on race and gender. Women have had to bear the brunt of unfair treatment opposed to men. A woman has had her role defined for her long before birth. In most societies women have been subjected to taking care of the family, mainly as mothers and wives. What happened though when these roles were challenged? Men were not the only type to engage in criminal behavior and become incarcerated. Women also fell into the path of criminality and were also incarcerated. At first women were placed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These programs have effectively begun setting incarcerated mothers up for success. The prison nurseries that are in place have taken the time to educate staff and set forth more education programs for the mothers (Yoho Backes, 2015, p. 42). The emphasis has been focused on teaching this women how to be proper mothers for their children and creating a bond that will affect their children outside of the prison. Creating this bond has been found to be later in life responsible for successful peer relationships and the ability to better cope with life stressors (as cited in Jbara, 2012, p. 2). • 3. Economic Systems Introduction Economic systems are organized way in which a state or nation allocates its resources and apportions goods and services in the national community. An economic system is slackly defined as country s plan for its services, goods produced, and the exact way in which its economic plan is carried out. There are three types of economic systems exist, they are command economy, market economy, and mixed economy. Command economy is also sometimes called planned economy. The expectations of this type of economy is that all major decisions that related to the construction or production, distribution, commodity and service prices are all made by the government. However, in market economy, national and state governments play a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prices also have the function to allocate and distribute a country s resources. Market leads to complete effectiveness bringing about the best possible distribution of a country s resources in a perfect world. This would only happen in a state of equilibrium and there is a unique price for every commodity. But in a realistic world which is imperfect by nature, prices are never at equilibrium and very unstable depending upon the vagaries of the market forces. This generally harms people living below the poverty line. It is impossible for them to pay high prices in cases of demand shortage. Thus, the free market model is not a viable option in developing countries which has a large number of poor. Besides, producers are aim to minimize profit and maximize rent of production. Examples of countries that are using this economy system are Hong Kong, USA, and UK. Many developing countries like India and China are moving towards totally free market economy. The command economy is government directed. The market forces have very little say in such an economy. There is no private property. On the other hand, a command economy aims at using all available resources for developing either in advertising or marketing. In order to ensure that the required inputs are available, the state would probably conduct some form of input output analysis. All industries act as the input from other industries and the producers act as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Offseasons Case Study Over the past two seasons, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has played himself into being one of the 10 best QBs in the NFL. In the process of obtaining that status, he has put Redskins management in a difficult situation just one year prior to when he becomes eligible for free agency. At this point in the off season with just a couple of months until the draft, the Redskins need to make what figures to be its most important decision of the offseason. On the table are three options: the team could elect to put the transitional tag on Cousins and forfeit any chance of a compensation pick should he sign with another team, they could use its franchise tag and assure a compensatory pick, but put themselves in a position of upsetting Cousins because it would make him a less attractive commodity to other teams, or they could simply let him walk as a free agent at the end of the season and get nothing. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2015 16, his first year as the full time starting QB, Cousins responded with 4,166 yards passing with 29 TDs and 11 interceptions. The Skins ended the season 9 7. While the team didn t fare much better this past season at 8 7 1, Cousins continued to impress by throwing 4,917 yards with 25 TDs and 12 interceptions. The passing yards were good enough to place him #3 in the NFL behind Drew Brees and league MVP Matt Ryan. With Cousins playing at this level, the Redskins might be just a player or two away from being a serious Super Bowl contender. It s also hard to imagine that anyone coming out of college in the next two drafts will be able to play at that level in the next few years. It s that reality that points to Cousins having all the leverage he needs over the next NFL season. One more quality 16 game season, and there will be plenty of teams, see Rams and 49ers, that will have no problem stepping up to the table with a bucket full of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though Germany s economy is currently doing very well, the still deals with different fiscal policies, lags and deficits, like any other country. There are also a couple of other factors that play into Germanys economy, including banking and financial institutions, and international trade. There are two kinds of fiscal policies; expansionary and contractionary. An expansionary fiscal policy per the textbook Macroeconomics Principles, Problems, and Policies, consists of government spending, tax reductions or both, designed to increase aggregate demand and therefore raise real GDP. Germany Cuts 2016 Tax Revenue Forecast Due to their migrant crisis. Their total tax dollars will be lower than previous years to create pressure in their economy. They made this tax cut so that they stop getting all the immigrants to move into their economy. Germany is trying to keep their money within their country instead of new consumers (Bender). A contractionary consists of government spending regulations, tax increases or both, designed to decrease aggregate demand and therefore lower or eliminate inflation (Bender). Social sanctions, such as banning popular American and European websites (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) can impede the progress of a nation s citizens causing them to be years behind the rest of the world. Another example of social sanctions is prohibiting a country from international competition, such as the World Cup or the Olympics, similar to the occurrence in South Africa when it was bared from the Olympics and World Cup due to their racist apartheid regime. These sanctions can technologically deprive a nation of most developments. If a nation is technologically deprived, it cannot compete with other countries due to lack of sufficient knowledge. It also keeps its citizens enclosed in a theoretical bubble, disconnecting them from the rest of the world. This is problematic for Burma s government, a nation cannot advance into the future, if its people are still affixed, lingering to the past. If there is no growth in knowledgeable professionals, Burma s officials will take notice and realize that it is not in their best interest nor its citizens, to remain deadlocked in the past and will hopefully terminate its regime on the Rohingya ... This momentary pause gives one of the other people the chance to hit Selison over the head with their fists, knocking him out cold. This time when Selison wakes up he is completely wrapped in countless different bindings. The wires are reattached to his body and the pole box from before is still beeping. Selison growls and immediately starts struggling to break free. He soon finds that the extra restraints make using force impossible. With a groan Selison closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and whispers. Domak. With that one word, all of his restraints come undone, allowing him to go through the process of ripping off cables, cords, needles, and wires again. Immediately, a team of seven people rush into the room. Instead of the previous yellow suits, these people have on thick, black outfits. It doesn t take Selison long to realize they are wearing some kind of armor. Each person has a night stick in their hand. They slowly surround Selison, taking every precaution to keep him from taking them down. The sedatives from before have worn off and Selison has yet to feel the effect of any possible new ones. The Unfair Political System During The French Revolution Social reform during the French Revolution developed due to the unfair political system, brutality perpetrated by the first estate, and the living conditions the lower class lived through, nevertheless, the violence and genocide committed in order to create reform were immoral. Prior to the French Revolution, people of influence abused the political system in order to allow them to live in luxury. The government consisted of the first, second and third estate. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the time of the French revolution people of the first estate, second estate, and citizens who work for the said estates, were generally murdered violently either by mob attacks or the Guillotine. The citizens of the third estate essentially wanted revenge on these people. The guillotine originally was used by the first estate to punish the lower class, for example; if a citizen from the third estate did not pay their taxes or they somehow disrespected a leader of power they would be sent, as punishment, to the guillotine and be put to death. Ironically, throughout the duration of the French revolution, the citizens who were previously affected by this tyranny used the same tactics in order to create social reform. The citizens of the first estate would brutally force people of power to death or subdue them to violent torture. An example of this could be when a man named Flouon justly needed to be punished for crimes he had committed however the mob of citizens brutally murder him by hanging him on a lamppost and then putting his head [upon] a pike (II.22.223). In addition to this, another example of the violence and brutality committed in order to create social reform is The Storming of the Bastille. The Bastille was a prison in France, which essentially represented the authority of the upper estates, many low class citizens were imprisoned there for unjust reasons. the time of the French revolution came around the citizen liberating the prison not only freed prisoners, they killed many of the authority residing there unjustly and ... It was dangerous for him there, so he had to hide in a cupboard. Being a child, he would always disobey and look outside wondering why he had to be in hiding instead of playing. What he saw is nothing a six year old should see. He saw people who were killed and left naked. When he was about eight years old he and his family were smuggled to a polish village. He had to dress and act like a girl so they wouldn t get caught. Richard had to change his name to Marisa Ulecki. He was then soon discovered and had to leave his mother and go join his father in Partisans for eighteen months. Richards father was then soon captured by the germans and never to be seen again. • 21. Overfishing Is A Serious Problem Overfishing is a serious problem that often gets overlooked. In the article by Udy Bell, called Overfishing: A Threat to Marine Biology, Bell talks about how only 1 percent of the world s oceans are marine protected areas (MPAs). MPAs not only help protect oceans by allowing habitats to recover from damage caused by overfishing but also allow fishto safely reproduce. Due to fishingfish faster then they can reproduce, many species of fish are going endangered or already endangered of being extinct. Species like whales, dungongs, sea cows, codfish, jewfish, sharks, and other marine vertebrates are examples of fish that are being overfished. Overfishing was addressed at the World Summit in Johannesburg, Africa in 2002 (Bell 17). At the World Summit, many experts in the field of overfishing agreed that the most effective way to battle overfishing is by creating and establishing more MPAs around the world. Although overfishing is a serious problem, there are ways to solve the problem like creating Marine Protected Areas. Gutierrez 2 Humans are the ones responsible for the damage caused to our oceans by overfishing. MPAs are essential to preserve and protect the biological diversity of the oceans (Kechington, Ward, Hegerl 7). In The Benefits of Marine Protected Areas, by Richard Kenchington, Trevor Ward, and Eddie Hegerl, talk about why MPAs are crucial to the prevention of overfishing. In the context of public administration, this law has established benchmarks for the field of public administration, but it does not go without its disadvantages. This act bred performance managementapplication in the public administration community by establishing tests and performance measurements that certainly outweigh the nature of providing government jobs due to party affiliation The act inherently eliminates a disadvantageous federal job market, and seeks to benefit those who can perform to the standards of the position. The benefits of this system outweigh its detriments, but I seek to examine how this system works today, and if its initial purpose was carried on.Cronyism, the act of giving jobs to friends and political affiliates, and nepotism, the act of giving jobs to family members, are dangerous because they create a system based off status, and not merit. The system this country had before the Pendleton Act was known as the spoils [or patronage] system. This prior system awarded jobs to people based off cronyism and nepotism. While it may seem harmless to award jobs in the political realm to people with close ties to a winning candidate, the primary focus of those positions should stem from performance. Unlike Ghettos set up in medieval times, the Nazi Ghettos had walls around them and were guarded. The Warsaw Ghetto was the largest ghetto in Europe and it was built in April 1940. The Warsaw Ghetto was a residential district in Warsaw until it was designated as a Jewish ghetto in World War II by the Nazis. (Warsaw Ghetto Facts). All the Jewish people that lived in the Warsaw were sent to the ghetto. This meant that 30 percent of the population were forced into 2.4 percent of the city s area. They set up these ghettos, so the Nazis knew exactly where to find them to persecute them (Holocaust Ghettos). It is estimated that about 100,000 Jews died in the Warsaw Ghetto and about 300,000 were sent to death camps and murdered. Many of the deaths in Warsaw was because of starvation and disease. By August 1941, more than 5,000 people a month succumbed to starvation and disease (Historical Film Footage). A big factor of why people were starving was that they were not receiving enough food rations. The rations for the Jews were barely enough to sustain life, at just 181 calories a day. That barely reaches the 10 percent of the normal requirements. If one had wanted really to restrict oneself to the official rations, then the entire population of the ghetto would have had ... • 25. Richard Van Camp s The Night Charles Bukowski Died When defining the term manhood , many people may use terms such as courage, strength, or bravery. Throughout history there have been many pressures on men to be as stereotypically manly as possible. If men don t conform to those stereotypes, they may be looked down upon by society as a whole. Richard Van Camp s short story The Night Charles BukowskiDied is a prime example of the dangers of nonconformity to stereotypically manly traits. The story is an intense first person stream of consciousness from the point of view of an unnamed narrator that follows the narrator and three of his peers: Mikey, Jason, and Scott. The use of metaphor, point of view, and setting in The Night Charles Bukowski Died exposes how stereotypical expectations of manhood can lead to dangerous situations not only physically, but also socially and emotionally. Van Camp makes use of metaphor to compare three distinct situations in the story relating to manhood to animals. When Jason and the narrator are encouraging Mikey to be strong, the narrator tells a brief story of an elder who was courageous enough to stand between a grizzly bear and his grandson with just an ax and an attitude of surrender being completely out of the question (33). In this situation, the narrator is doing his best to instill a fighting attitude in Mikey instead of just letting him accept that Scott is bullying him. The Hull House helped and impacted people in countless ways. One of which, was that reformers helped teach immigrants skills that they may have needed for jobs. Immigrationtounitedstates.org states,ВЁOf Chicago s one million residents in 1888, approximately 78 percent were either foreign born or the children of foreign born parents. That s where the Hull House comes in. Hull House reformers specifically taught those people things that they needed to know and things that they needed to know how to do. Reformers also went to the Hull House and gave lectures on economics and social issues. Discovery Of The Nazi Death Camps Discovery of the Nazi death camps at the end of World War II sent shockwaves throughout the entire world and brought to question how civilized humans could participate in the atrocity of what is now known as the Holocaust. Although from the beginning, it was clear Nazi s believed Jews and other races were inferior to the Aryan race, the idea of genocide was not their original intent. How then were German soldiers able to exterminate Jews without question? Christopher Browning in his book Ordinary Men dives into the human psyche to try and recreate the possibilities in which the German soldier were able to carry out these horrifying acts. Easiest of Browning possibilities to understand why the Germans were capable of these terrible acts are the fundamentals of a race war. Initialized by seeing a fellow comrade falling to the onslaught of the enemy and engulfing them with hate, thus allowing the killing of a certain race without empathy for their actions. However, how could this mentality be contributed to the Reserve Police Battalions when they had never encountered combat? Early on in the war [they] felt the need to provide justification. Collective Remembrance Essay The relatively new historical branch of collective remembrance, when applied to the collective memories of Britain and the Soviet Union, reveals much more disparity than resemblance in the way these two nations remembered, and still remember, the Second World War. The collective remembrance of Britain is different from that of Russiabecause while the Soviet Unionutilized similar styles of ceremony and commemoration as Britain did to promote a continued remembrance of the war, the Soviet Union was unique in the silence of the unspoken grief of millions that lay in more than the war itself, but in a history of repression and abuse at the hands of the state. While these did present a more edited version of reality, it is not necessarily to say that they were inherently false. • 46. Teaching Assistant Essay The traditional classroom, staffed by a single teacher is rapidly disappearing in schools across the UK. (Wilson et al, 2003, cited in Parker, 2009) Teaching Assistants There are many titles currently in use to describe the role of a teaching assistant, such as: classroom assistant (Lee and Mawson, 1998), learning support assistant (Farrell et al., 2000), teaching aides (Hall et al., 1995), para educators (French and Chopra, 1999) and auxiliary support (McGarvey et al., 1996). In the past, teaching assistants (TAs) were appointed as and when needed in an informal manner. For example, if a need arose to support a student with special educational needs (SEN), or if a bit of extra cash came to the school then a teaching assistant would be employed. However, it is now widely recognised that a teaching assistant post should be properly advertised (Watkinson, 2010). There has been a noticeable growth of teaching assistants over the years; according to the Department for Education (2014), there has been an increase of 4.9% between 2012 and 2013. In line with this, there is now notably a need for job descriptions and recognition of the successful candidate as becoming a full member of the school staff. • 50. Art Criticism Of The Baroque Era The Musicians In art criticism, the word Baroque came to be used to describe anything irregular, bizarre, or otherwise departing from established rules and proportions, (Britannica, 2016). Caravaggio, born Michelangelo Merisi (1571), an Italian painter, can be said almost single handedly to have created the Baroquestyle during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. None other can be more appropriately defined as Baroque than Caravaggio; his character, like his art, was confrontational and uncompromising, and both loved and hated. He introduced a powerfully frank realism and dramatic, theatrical lighting and gesture into Italian Baroque art. Caravaggio s unvarnished realism and tenebrism influenced nearly every important European artist of the seventeenth century. (Stokstad, Cothren). By the end of the 16th century, art began to break away from the refined and disciplined style of mannerism, heavily influenced by the Counter Reformation of the Church, and emergence of powerful monarchies. This movement comes to be known as the Baroque Era. Baroque artists were particularly focused on natural forms, spaces, color, and the use of light in order to create a strong emotional experience; almost theatrically, inviting the viewer to participate in the story. The Catholic Church found itself needing to influence and rebuild its following; turned its attention to the arts. The Counter Reformation used the arts to appeal as much to the emotions and knowledge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Difference Between Liberal And Difference Feminism King, 1 Sheridan Louise King Midterm POL192b: Legal Theory 1. What is the difference between liberal and difference feminism? In order to differentiate liberal feminism from difference feminism, it is important to clarify on the outset the exact definition of each term. According to Martha Fineman (2005), feminism can be defined as a gender based theory focusing on challenging the assertions and assumption revolving gender neutrality. Specifically, feminism deals with the assumptions and values based on gender that generate gender and societal inequalities. In this context, therefore, liberal feminism can be defined as the idea that emphasizes women s likeliness with men, and thus, deals both with banning treatment that fosters gender bias and also establishing laws and regulations that cater to equal opportunities for both men and women (Fineman, 2005). Conversely, difference feminism holds the idea of different treatment, in which equal treatment is not seen as sufficient (Fineman, 2005). With these clarifications, therefore, it is clear that liberal feminism and difference feminism contrast due to their conflicting ideas in gender treatment. Primarily, liberal feminism outlaws any and all bias behavior discriminating against gender types, whereas difference feminism resorts to the idea that the difference of gender essentially calls for different treatment, hence men and women should be treated differently (Fineman, 2005). The difference in these two ideas, thus, lies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, Uncle Tom could have very easily run off with the 500 dollars belonging to his master, but follows his orders out of his love for the Lord. Out of obedience to his Christian master, God, he abides in his worldly master. Obviously, this is a plantacratic argument, and perhaps Uncle Tom should have run off with the money, but he provides the audience with a sense of hope because he is rewarded in the afterlife. Automobiles produced by the industry may not be many consumers first choice based on the consumers geographic whereabouts or that a certain foreign automobilebrand almost has a monopoly on a geographic area. The global automotive industryis constantly evolving, so the American automotive industry must evolve alongside it. The American automotive industry must come up with creative ways in order to overcome these environmental challenges. The American automotive industry always has to defend itself from foreign competition. For example, in 2012 only 21,150 vehicles cars, trucks, and buses were imported from the United Statesinto Japan, but 131,080 vehicles were imported from Germany (JAMA, 2013). This just goes to show that, at least in certain geographical areas, the United States does not even come close to leading the market in industry sales. Since there is really nothing that the industry can do to counteract this, it must establish itself as a market leader in the domestic market. • 58. Gender Roles Of Odysseus And Penelope In Homer s Odyssey Traditional gender roles unfortunately remain an influential part of society today. In some parts of the world, it is illegal for women to do anything without the permission or sometimes even accompaniment of a male guardian. While it is true that the world has made considerable progress in eliminating gender stereotypes overall, there is much work that has yet to be done, and people must continue to strive for equality in order to eliminate unhealthy relationships like that of Odysseusand Penelopein Homer s Odyssey. The epic poem explores Odysseus unnecessarily long journey home after helping Greece win the Trojan War while his wife Penelope waits for him in Ithaca. The contrast between Penelope s faithfulness at home and how Odysseus often strays from his path of return, in many cases by being unfaithful to his wife, highlights the traditional expectations set for men and women during this time and how differently they are supposed to behave. Odysseus yearning for adventure spurs him to explore the many places he encounters without having a need to, causing his route home to be particularly indirect. After landing on the island of the Cyclops, Odysseus deems it a good idea for him to explore the island, even though he knows that the people he meet may not be friendly. He takes a group of men to find out what the mainland natives are / for they may be wild savages and lawless, / or hospitable and god fearing men (Book IX, 187 189). • 59. Bed Sores Case Study Patients should also be engaged in exercises in order to reduce weight. Overweight and obese patients pose a huge problem in management of bed sores. They are rigid, immobile and very inactive. The suggested exercises are advised to be considered for reduction of weight, increasing flexibility of joints, promote blood flow as well as strengthening of muscles and bones. These exercises should be supplemented with proper feeding, repositioning as well as other methods used to reduce pressure sores. Distribution devices These are pressure redistribution equipment and are used to distribute patients weight. Research shows that the use foam mattresses that are comfortable and thick have a relative reduction in risk of developing pressure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was compared to the normal ICU beds, which are noted to propagate formation of bed sores. Other types of weight pressure distribution tools include beds that are air fluidized, turning beds, beds with lower air loss, water filled beds, fiber filled beds, silicone filled beds as well as bead filled beds. Repositioning Repositioning of patients prone to pressure sores refers to turning these patients in order to promote aeration and prevent excessive pressure being exerted on one body part for a long time. Research has demonstrated that turning of these patients every 4 hours with foam mattresses developed from visco elastic polyurethane has superiority in outcome compared with lack of turning of these patients. The same research indicated that turning these patients every 4 hours has better outcome in reducing risk of grade 1 and grade 2 bed sores than turning them once daily on the same foam mattresses. This 4 hour turning schedule also has been shown to have little significant results compared a 2 hour turning schedule on the foam mattresses made of visco elastic polyurethane (Vanderwee, Grypdonck, De, Defloor, 2007). Nursing interventions in repositioning of these bedridden patients include occasional turning of these patients from one side to the next. The basis for this is to facilitate air circulation and relieving body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
