Legend Of The Ghost Dog Analysis
The novel Legend of the Ghost Dog , written by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, is a thriller and
mystery tale about a young girl named Anita (although is known as Tee throughout the book), on
an expedition she attended to a small cabin located in the Alaska wilderness, in the town of
Nome, with her father and her younger brother Jack, and another young girl that she befriended
named Quin. This adventure starts from not Tee s perspective, but from an older woman named
Dodie about her childhood raising Siberian Huskies with her family, these chapters would
consistently reoccur in the novel. The legend began as just a silly yet spine tingling fable of a
dark looming creature known as the Shadow that lived deep in the Alaskan woods near a creek
referred to as Dorothy Creek, where just so happen Tee, her little brother and her father were
residing near, however escalated to a conundrum about the Shadow that turned out to just be a dog,
a jet black Huskywith pale blue eyes with a strong broad body, discovered by the two young girls
after taking Tee s beagle on a walk in the snow. While Tee s and Jack s Mother was in Japan for two
weeks during their spring break for law work, the siblings went with their dad, a writer, who was
on the hunt for a storyabout how the relationship between dogs and man have become less and
less throughout the years because of snowmobiles, there for people were not requiring dogs to
pull sleds from place to place. Thus, Tee s father begins to work with a

Character Analysis Of Snoop Dogg
I will be talking about 3 characters that I feel personally have the same character concepts as me
like Snoop Dogg. We share plenty of the same interest but that is for you to read and find out. All
three of these characters I visualize are in myself because of the experiences I ve had are exactly
like them. I seem to have the same personalities as them so I suggest I am a very active person but
very mellow as well like I donВґt need to be rushed unless it is important. The three fictional
characters that most represent my personality are Biggie Smalls for his/her legendary rapping

This was his time to shine and let the people know his voice and overcome. With this being said I
also have had at least a similar experience to the character. I was basically more of a savage back in
my freshmen year of highschool. Although I was not a dropout like him I always got in trouble in
school and outside in public because I didnВґt care. I would ditch, steal, drugs, hangout with other
lil savages like me and this is just recipe for disaster and had my run ins with the law. Ended up
doing 6 months probation with 60 hour community service. But drawing was always another

Understanding the Background of Meeting at an Airport by...
It is possible to understand certain pieces of literature outside its historical context; however, it is
more beneficial if the reader has background knowledge. Taha Muhammad Ali was a Palestinian
poet that was born in 1931. He grew up in Saffuriya, Galilee which is located in the Middle East. Ali
was self taught through his readings of classical Arabic literature, American fiction, and English
poetry. Ali then began to write poems in the 1970s. He wrote a poem entitled Meeting at an Airport
which is based on his personal experiences. Without knowing his background information and
history, it is unclear about what exactly is meant by this poem. This piece of literature elicits the
sense of reconnection and the exact same feelings for each other just like the first time they met. In
the poem, Meeting at an Airport written by Taha Muhammad Ali, historical context is needed to
understand this piece because it emphasizes the theme, the purpose of the poem, and establishes
credibility ( Poetry Foundation ). When a reader grasps a theme throughout any piece of literature,
he or she never clearly understands the intent without knowing where the theme came from. The
theme that is portrayed in the poem is, often times reconnecting with a loved one cannot only bring
happiness, but it can also bring sorrow. This theme was emphasized throughout the poem and
without knowing the historical context of the poem, one could not necessarily understand where it
came from. In the text it

Technology Has A Growing Influence On Home Life, The...
Technology has been a growing influence in home life, the business world, and now education.
Many schools use technology to enhance student learning. Administrators have bought
technological devices and tools such as; digital cameras, SMART boards, laptops computers,
projectors, and course software to support curriculum, all in the hopes of improving student
achievement and motivation. However, the technology tools themselves should not be the focus.
Technology cannot take place of the teacher; it is a tool that the educator uses to enhance the
student s understanding and should be used as supplemental and to complement the educator s
lessons. Bassett recognized that the technological age should not be about technology alone, rather
it should be about what the teacher and the students are doing with the technology to further
understanding and engagement with the lesson (2005, p. 77). Technology tools are becoming
readily available for teachers and students. Today technology is more available then ever. Honey
(2005) sites the National Center of EducationStatistics, in saying that public schools have made
consistent progress in expanding Internet access in classrooms. Having these technological tools
and access available allow it easy for teachers to put into practice student centered learning.
Researchers, Neo and Kian study has proved that the use of technology had greatly effected the
student s learning process and widen the depth of learning skills and knowledge.

Good And Evil In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Christina Rossetti was devoted to the evangelical branch of the Church of England thus fueling the
moral lessons of religion, salvation, temptation, and spirituality behind her intentions of the children
s poem Goblin Market. She presents a story of two sisters who must endure the lust and temptations
of the fruits sold by the goblins. The character Laura, in the poem, experiences a torturous series of
events due to her intuitions to follow the temptationsoffered by the goblinmen, who through
Rossetti s descriptive verse, are characterized as demonic and animal like. Laura is saved by her
sister Lizzie when she sacrifices herself and goes to buy fruit to in order to rescue Laura from her
doomed fate. Lizzie represents a Christ like figure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Rossetti 70 75) This suggest that the goblin men have traits of demon like or devilish elements.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. (Gen 3:4) The demon like traits of
the goblin men are a reflection of image of Satan that commonly denoted as a serpent in the
Garden of Eden that tempts Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. Similarly, the goblin men used
their fruit to possess Laura into a trance. As Laura is lured by the goblins to purchase the fruit,
she expresses to them that she has no copper or silver coins to pay for the tender fruit. However,
the goblins negotiate that only a precious golden lock from Laura s head serves as an alternate
payment as she dropped a tear more rare than a pearl. (Rossetti 126 127) Laura sheds a single tear
as she acknowledges the fact that she has sold a piece of herself for the fruit. Hair or the hair of the
head is a significant biblical symbol as the truth of the natural and women s glory. But if a woman
has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering. (1 Cor. 11:15) Since
Laura has offered her hair as payment, she has willing given up her covering on her head that is

What Are The Roles Of English Language
Introduction
The term language describes any body of sounds, words, symbols or gestures used by specific
groups of people to communicate with each other (Language, n. d.). There are many types of
languages including speech, body language, sign language, and written languages such as
mathematics, music and symbols. Language has many functions that are determined by the mode in
which they are presented. The way language is conveyed can alter the intended meaning or context
for example a difference in tone can change a comment from complimentary to sarcastic.
Language is continuously evolving. An example of this is the short, abbreviated style we now use
to communicate digitally. One tiny picture called an emoji can now convey our feelings. Emojis
are also universal, serving as a communication tool to bridge the gap between different languages.
Other examples of language evolving are the several new forms of English that have emerged such
as Aboriginal English, American English and East Asian English.
Language plays many roles in our lives as language is both a social tool and an information tool
(Hayes Gee, 2011, p.24). Language is a powerful means of communication, learning and self
expression; and contributes substantially to our sense of identity, wellbeing and belonging. Children
predominantly learn language from observing and interacting with adults. The manner in which
adults use language and interact with children, determines how children learn to use language

Essay On Michelle Obama
A leader is someone who timelessly practice guiding others in pursuit of a goal, or desired
outcome. At the most fundamental level, a leader is someone who motivates, inspires and guides
others toward pre established goals. One of the most prominent leaders and inspirational person is
Michelle Lavaughn Robinson Obama, former First Lady and married to Barack Obama, the former
44th President of the United States. During her time as an attorney and First Lady, Mrs. Obama
has been an advocate for women s rights, poverty awareness, a mentor, a supporter of military
families, healthy eating and has been a fervent opponent of inequality (Slevin,2015). Michelle
Obamais a noteworthy because she possesses leadership characteristics that inspire, motivate and
made changes to the way American citizens live and see life; she became a beacon of hope.
Michelle Obama is the topic of this research for she is a role model and inspiration to Americans
across the nation. Michelle s life has shown nothing but mere dedication, outstanding
perseverance, a willingness to learn, affect change and be a leader to those who believe and
admire her work. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, Obama is the daughter of Fraser
Robinson III, a city water plant employee and Democratic precinct captain (Slevin, 2015). During
her early years, Michelle has seen the detrimental effects segregation can have on a community,
which was later reflected on her fight against inequality. Being raised on the

legal, physical, and mental consequences of drug use easily outweigh the so called high that people

including rehabilitated users would agree. They would also agree that druguse is the easiest and
quickest route to destroying your life. (Gahlinger 75) The most commonly used and most

It can be used in many different ways including inhalation of the powder, smoking it, and
injecting it directly into the veins. Cocaine is also one of the more addictive drugs. (Kuhn,
Swartzwelder, Wilson 43) Prolonged use of cocaine can cause itching, paranoid delusions, and
hallucinations even when the person is not high . Using cocaine also increases your chances to
contract rare diseases such as lupus. Overdosing raises the user s blood pressure, and can be life
threatening. People who use cocaine regularly develop a tolerance, this increases the amount of
cocaine needed to get high . People with a high tolerance often overdose because of the need for
such a large dose. Drug addicts often die from an overdose because other people with them don t
know what to do. (Gahlinger 103) Heroin is one of the most dangerous and addictive drugs on the
planet. It is a manufactured drug which means it made chemically. There are several risks
associated with using heroin as opposed to some other drugs because heroin is not a natural
made drug. People who use heroin have no idea what is actually in the drug they are about to use
because it has passed through so many hands. Drugs are often laced with something other than
what is supposed to be in it. Dealers do this to make there product different from everyone else s.
Sometimes heroin is laced with something and the user dies after his first time. The effects of
taking heroin can be very serious including collapsing of the

Poverty And Inequality In Ethiopia
Statement of the Problem
Poverty and inequality are a concern to both developing and developed nations across the world
(Melamed, 2014; Shepherd et al., 2014). These problems are more serious in developing countries
like Ethiopia (UNDP, 2013). Poverty is so widespread and prevalent in Ethiopia that the country is
amongst the poorest nations in the world (UNDP, 2013).
Recently, Ethiopian government claimed that poverty and inequality are declining in all regions
(MoFED, 2013). However, empirical literature shows that poverty, in general, and chronic and
transitory poverty, in particular, have long history in rural areas and show growing trends (Adugna,
2012).
For sustained fight against rural poverty and inequality; and for realization of poverty and
inequality free Ethiopia, there is a need to design pro poor and location specific poverty and
inequality reduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In large part, this has reflected the emerging understanding that, in order to reduce poverty,
policymakers need information on both the current incidence of poverty and also the magnitude
of the threat of poverty, measured ex ante (Calvo and Dercon, 2005). Such a perspective
implicitly recognises that poverty is a stochastic phenomenon. To that end, while the current
incidence of poverty is a critical indicator of wellbeing it provides limited foresight into future
poverty. Rather, whether a household is likely to fall into poverty in the future is also determined
by its exposure to a variety of different shocks as well as its ability to effectively cope in the face of
shocks.
Yet little empirical work has been done that examines the vulnerability of households in Melanesian
countries, such as Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands to experiencing povetry. This is despite the
fact that both countries are renowned for being acutely vulnerable to economic and environmental
shocks at a national

Sociological Perspectives In Sociology
Three major sociological approaches in the field of sociology are known as functionalist, conflict,
and symbolic interactionist perspectives. The three sociological approaches are utilized to explain
and enhance why racism is prominent in the United States. These viewpoints each discussed racism,
but by using different terminology and specific focuses, each perspective is able to illustrate very
unique and diverse concepts. As stated by Kendall (2015), Racism is a set of attitudes, beliefs, and
practices that is used to justify the superior treatment of one racial or ethnic group and the inferior
treatment of another racial or ethnic group (p. 284). As Kendall (2015) defined, dominant groups
are racial or ethnic groups that have the greatest power and resources in a society. Subordinate
groups are ones whose members, because of physical or cultural characteristics, are disadvantaged
and subjected to unequal treatment and discrimination by the dominant group. (p. 283). In the
society found in the United States, dominant groups incorporated white Americans while
subordinate groups incorporated individuals such as immigrants, African Americans, and Asian
Americans. The difference between all three perspectives begins with the context of how dominant
and subordinate groups are used in the explanation of racism. Functionalist perspectives analyzed
racism on a macro level in which the dynamics of the subordinate and dominate groups in the
entirety of society is critiqued

A Wack On The Side Of The Head Essay
Acute Ambiguity
Roger von Oech, the author of A Whack on the Side of the Head, makes an unusual offer that
thinking at random will increase the efficiency at which ideas become more abundant. This
particular concept is certainly an original way to come up with new, fresh problem solving
techniques. Ambiguity in the world can help new ideas flow for anyone when looked at in a
creative way.
Chapter seven begins by explaining an example that would make the case against using ambiguity.
In fact, the title of chapter seven is Avoid Ambiguity . While it is true that vague statementsleave
questions unanswered, the traditional idea behind gathering information is to find specific details
and clear communicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, finding places to begin within a random pattern can be challenging.
Based on the random, ambiguous thinking technique, my wife and I used this method for a creative
solution to figuring out how to decorate our nursery. We followed the different steps that the author
suggests in order to come up with creative ideas. First, we asked ourselves the question, What do
we want out of the nursery? Then, we opened the dictionary and picked a random definition to
begin our thinking process. Next, we applied the random definition to the original question and
came up with a nursery theme that the whole family can be proud of!
Another original concept that this book brought to the attention of the reader is that of foolishness.
There are definitely benefits to conformity such as civilized societies and workplaces, however, the
author states that very few original ideas come about in a setting of conformity. This creative and
even uncomfortable technique can be very effective.
In a world of conformity like our United States military, the lack of originality becomes overly
abundant. The ideas that flow in a non traditional setting produce beautiful art, timeless music, and
priceless entertainment. It never hurts to ask the opinion of the least likely candidate for the
answer because it is difficult to determine what the opinion will be.
This concept

`` Darkness And Confusion `` By Ann Petry
Ann Petry s novella, In Darkness and Confusion, explicitly exhibits the ramifications of being a
poverty stricken African American in Harlem, New York via the conscious of the extremely
contemplative William Jones. In this short story, readers are allowed to experience William s
anxiety about residing in a slum ridden neighborhood, working at a barely paying job, and the
mental health of his deployed son. In journeying alongside William throughout the weekend,
sharing his past disappointments and disillusionments as well as his hopes and dreams, the
reader is able to discern his feelings of mass frustration. In walking in the shoes of William Jones,
it becomes evident how the entire Black community might be overwhelmed by circumstances
which indubitably inspired and provided rationale for an urban black rebellion. For far too long,
African Americans have been neglected the rights to decent and fair housing. In In Darkness and
Confusion, William Jones expresses his discontentment with the almost cruel living conditions of
the ghettos in Harlem as he stated, It ain t a fit place to live, though (Petry 261). William was
especially motivated to move to a better home to protect his wife, Pink s, ailing health. William
and Pink searched high and low for more decent places to live however, they simply could not
afford decent. Though marketed to those with lower than average incomes, the better housing for
blacks were still deficient and extremely pricy. In

Difference Between Art And Contemporary Art
Christian Casas
Rafael Hernandez
LIT3400
The Everyday
A typical way of relating social/political issues to art assumes that art represents the thing one
way or another. But there can be a more interesting perspective, which is looking at the field of
art as a place of work. Basically look at what it does not what it shows. Amid all other forms of art,
fine art has been associated with post Fordist ideology. Post Fordism is a popular system of
economically based on production, consumption and has been in most industrialized countries since
the late 20th century. Contemporary art is not an out of this world discipline hidden away in some
remote building. In fact, it s the opposite because it positions itself in the thick of things. It can
function as a brand name without a brand feeding off the bits and pieces of social and political
issues. Presently, contemporary art has grown apart from important hubs, which gives the artist a
wider range of production and provides various opportunities for showcasing the work. In contrast,
this has not always been the case. Artist in novels about portraitures are depicted as servants due to
the flow of cash. Art should be functioning on its own without the need of an institutional backing
in order to create separation between the artist and their work as well as what the work can do .
Portraits appear as an object already existing in the world and about whose producer and the process
of production not much (most often nothing) needs

Joint Surveillance And Target Attack Radar System
Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS/JSTARS)
SSG Koza, David
Class: 16 011
Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS/JSTARS) is a multi functioning
air asset that is to assist airborne battle management, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
I will briefly describe the aircraft capabilities and how they are used on the battlefield. I will also
identify significant historic event, how the Joint STARS have influenced Military intelligence, and
the second and third order effects. I will also talk about how Joint STARTS will continue to help
the evolvement and impacts it will have on Military intelligence. Joint STARS came from Army
and Air Force programs to develop, detect, located, and attack enemy forces at a range beyond
forward operating troops. Joint STARS E 8C modified Boeing 707 300 series commercial aircraft.
The E 8C is equipped with a multi mode radar, commutations, operations and control subsystems,
and antenna. The radar and computer subsystems can display battlefield information on ground
troops in near real time. The antenna is able to rotate 120 degrees and able to detect targets 155
miles away. In addition, the antenna is limited to detect helicopters, rotating antennas, and even
slow moving fixed wing aircraft. Joint STARS was deployed during Desert Storm and specifically
early on during the Battle of Khafji. The Battle of Khafji took place during 28January1991 and

How Human Resource Management Is The Need For Labour
One of the most important aspects of human resource management is the need for labour. It is
critical for organizations to hire and motivate employees to perform at their maximum efficiency.
As such, what motivates people is a simple question that has been attempted to be answered by
many professionals alike. The complexity of the question itself is due to the fact that although
people can be segmented into different demographic groups, every person is different.
The important role of employee motivation is something that both employers and employees
should be aware of. There are many clear benefits to having an stellar workforce for organizations.
For example, for an organization to achieve organizational excellence they need to determine what

No Country For Old Men Fate Analysis
Fate in No Country for Old Men
The idea of fate has been present in the world for thousands of years. From the beginning of the
Old Testament to the Shakespearean plays, such as Macbeth. The idea of fate is not unknown or
underused in any way. In Cormac McCarthy s novel, No Country for Old Men, shows an
extremely artful depiction of fate and its role in the lives of men. The book shows a journey of a
money filled briefcase and the bloodshed that is left in its path. The barren and sterile southwest is
known for its violent past and its Old Western style of living. The living in which deathand
destruction were common, and almost a day to day way of life. However, Cormac McCarthy
demonstrates this even better in No Country for Old Men. He ... Show more content on

Small things. Things you wouldn t even notice. They pass from hand to hand. People don t pay
attention. And then one day there is an accounting. And after that nothing is the same...you see
the problem. To separate the act from the thing. As if parts of some moment in history might be
interchangeable with the parts of some other moment. How could that be? Well, it s just a coin.
Yes. That s true. Is it? (McCarthy 57). In this quote, Anton asks the man to choose which side of
the coin will land facing upwards (to call it ) and because the man called it correctly, Anton let
the man live and did not kill him. This small coin flip plays a such a large role in the idea of fate
because it leaves Anton questioning if it was fate that caused the man to guess correctly, or if it
was just pure luck and chance. Though not directly proving that fate causes the man to be left
alive, it brings the overall idea to thought and then keeps the thought present for the remainder of
the novel. One critic talking about the theme of fate in Cormac McCarthy s novels says, The
killer s presumed insanity is the natural outcome of a deterministic philosophy prefigured in the
dialogue between John Grady Cole and Duena Alfonsa in All the Pretty Horses, when they ponder
the role of fate, chance, and choice through the metaphor of the coin toss. The same chaos theory
that formed the intellectual basis for that conversation motivates the thoughts and actions of Anton
Chigurh (Michael Hollister). In this analysis, of McCarthy s novels as a whole, the critic helps
push the idea that Anton is a symbol of fate and evil when he describes the relation of his coin to
McCarthy s other work, All the Pretty Horses. By means of the coin and the character of Anton,
McCarthy is able to set fate in the mind of the reader and suggest its power when it comes to
determining the outcome of a

The Effects Of Four Methods Of Subcutaneous Heparin...
Heparin Article Critique
The purpose of this study was to determine and compare the effects of four methods of
subcutaneous heparin injection on pain and bruising in abdomen and thighs. The researchers tested
four different methods during the study. The methods had different injection rates and needle time
left in the patient before removing it. The researchers used a quasi experimental within subject
design. 90 patients with COPD in two ICU wards were tested. The title of the article is
straightforward and exact tells the reader what the article is about. One thing the article did not
mention was the population and demographics of the sample. It was not until I read to the abstract
to discover the population. Overall the abstract does an excellent job to given the reader insight of
what they are about to read. The abstract clearly summarize the main features of the report: the
problem, methods, results, and conclusion.
Introduction
During the introduction, the researcher gives background to the topic being discussed. It took some
time search to locate problem. The authors do not directly state what the problem is, but rather let
the reader to assume what the problem is. I believe the problem is stated in this sentence, Bruising
and pain due to heparin injection are considered to be both patients and nurses problems, because
they are important factors for changing and adjustment of clinical performance (Azimi, Jafarabadi

Barbie Dolls On Young Children Essay
Mattel:
Influences of Barbie dolls on young children Mattel is considered one of the most leading
industry when it comes to the invention of toys and video games. Mattel is also a leading brand
company that researches and develops new toys and then buys or license them from inventors. But
what exactly are they doing to convince us consumers to buy their products? For the past decades
now, Barbie dolls mainly created by Mattel have grown tremendously and have made a huge
impact to children s lives. Kids are influenced by what they see on television and therefore
automatically drawn to imitate whatever characters they seem to be interesting. Their
characters, dressing, and responsibility influence young children to change dramatically. Based
on A Rhetorical Analysis of Amy Lin s Article , the writer Amy Lin argues that Barbie dolls and
all its associated products fosters or encourage a consumerist ethos in young girls (children), I
agree that Barbie dolls not only influence children based on materialism but it also encourages a
false view of reality. In the article by Amy Lin, given that Barbie has become the alpha doll
(Talbot 74) for girls in today s popular culture, young female consumers clearly associate only
good things with Barbie. The product itself has become a tradition handed down from mother to
daughter or a rite of passage that most girls go through. In this way, excessive consumption and
the effects of branding are handed down as well, as Barbie dolls are

The opportunity that Facebook provides for self disclosure could be a benefit for low self esteem

If the injured person is difficult to work with, or shows little to no drive to take the rehabilitation
seriously, the team will struggle. To help gain compliance, the team must keep the patient informed.
This applies to the overall course of the rehabilitation, along with the expectations and any changes
that may take place to better help the patient on the road to recovery. Individualization stands with
the fact that each person is different, meaning that every program for recovery will be at least,
slightly different. Each person s physiological and chemical difference mean that two patients may
have similar injuries, yet they have vastly different recovery programs. S brings the principle of
specific sequencing which states that a recovery or rehabilitation plan shall have a specific

the patient as well as the injured area, but not to the point where the exercise would cause
aggravation. Knowing when to make the exercises more of less intense is based on the amount of

Some other major factors that contribute to child labor include parental illiteracy, lack of
education, exploitation of cheap labor, family expectations and traditions, limited choices for
women and public opinion that downplays the risk of early work for children. Children are
often given employment because they are easier to exploit than adults are. Children are
considered powerless and paid much less than their parents who are often unemployed or
underemployed. Child labor is often considered a problem that only affects developing
countries, but child labor is a global issue. Asia, Africa and Latin America have the highest rates
of child labor, but the United States, Canada, Europe and other wealthy nations also employ a
small number of child laborers. Some of the most common jobs for child laborers include
domestic servants, factory workers, farmers and miners. In poverty stricken areas, it is not
uncommon for a child to desert school and begin work in order to provide for themselves and their
families. Boys often work in mines, farms and factories, while girls are trained in house duties and
sent off to become domestic servants. Domestic servants are especially at risk of becoming victims
of physical and sexual abuse by their employers. International economic trends have also increased

In The Crucible, if one of the young girls convicted someone of witchcraft, they would be hung.
Hanging people in Salem was becoming more and more common since there was a new person
being convicted daily. This also can relate to how mass shootings are becoming more common.
Mass shootings have been around for decades, however in today s society they are happening
more frequently. Since mass shootings are happening time and again, it is becoming less
noticeable. People still have fear of mass shootings, nonetheless the idea of a mass shooting is
thought of less now than in the past. The Crucible also shows how hysteria builds over time, this
is also very prominent in the modern day. In the end of Act III the hysteria begins building when
Proctor leaps at Abigail and calls her a Whore, confessing his affair with her in front of Elizabeth
(litcharts). After Proctor confessed the affair he had with Abigail, the hysteria builds when Danforth
demands answers to why Abigail was fired by Elizabeth, causing more screaming in the courtroom.
Each argument in the courtroom built off one another, causing an uproar and fear in everyone in

The Giver Community Is A Dystopia Essay
The giver community is a dystopia. I know this because when you compare the giver community

This is just one of the many examples in the book that show that the government can control your
life. Not to mention how they also control your significant other, your job, your siblings, and your
life decisions, and even your personality traits. Just think about no being able to choose the person
your supposed to love and get through life together with.
You could argue that the community is a utopia because everyone is happy and that the people
not knowing what is going on is a good thing. Or that people not saying mean things and
expressing what they truly feel is a good thing because it won t cause arguments and fights. Even
the fact that people don t have a choice with family and more importantly significant others could
mean that there are no divorces and no fights about who Marries who. Another example why it
could be a utopia is that people don t have to choose their jobs so they don t need too tire
themselves out working super hard just to get the job that you want. I agree that the government
choosing and planning your whole life out for you can be a good thing. But their are so many other
bad things about the community that it outweighs all of the good.
In conclusion I think that the leader is dehumanizing the community and focusing too much on the
requirements to have a utopia and not how the actual citizens would feel if they knew

Plastic Surgery Is On The Rise

A Hideous Trend
Liposuction, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty: plastic surgery is on the rise. Without even
realizing it, young children, specifically girls, are taught by movies like Cinderella that they should
prize beauty. Society continuously values beauty as people of different races and cultures have
gone to extremes just for this elegance: from Chinese foot binding to inflexible corsets from the
Victorian times. While plastic surgery existed in ancient times, only recently has it been accepted
by the majority of modern day society. Thousands of hard earned dollars each year are used for
these very elaborate surgeries. This increase of money in plastic surgeons pockets results from
the desire of having a perfect life, wanting a younger look, and social media influences. As
society itself becomes more and more obsessed with the idea of perfection and no human having
any flaw, females feel the pressure of correcting any flaw on their bodies. This idea becomes
reinforced in reality television shows, advertisements, magazines, and newspapers. In
advertisements, rarely does someone see another person with a crooked nose or a wrinkled face.
Rather, these people typically have a straight nose, full face, and a slim body. Somewhere in the
past few decades, humans have equated the perfect body with the perfect life. A study completed at

Beyond Analysis Of The Book Beyond The River Chebar Essay
Beyond the River Chebar
Young Hoon (John) Kim
This book, Beyond the River Chebar, is a collection of articles that talks about the kingship and
eschatology in Ezekiel. Block wants to show the proper interpretation of the book of Ezekiel by
providing different views on the interpretation of certain passages and different theological views.
Moreover, Block provides history and other aspects for the better understanding of the book of
Ezekiel.
Daniel Block starts by introducing Zion theology. Zion theology is the Israelites religious attitude
toward Jerusalem. Scholars recognize some Israelites thoughts regarding to the Zion Theology.
First, since worshipping of Yahweh at the national temple in Jerusalem, the Israelites thought that
the deity s enthronement is a central feature. Second, since the Location of the temple is on the
peak of Zaphon, they assume that Zion is the center of the universe. Last, The election of Zion by
YHWH is closely tied to the election of David. From Zion Yahweh s reign of peace and justice
extends to the entire world.
Additionally, Yahweh s kingship, which is the one of the core aspects of the Zion Theology, has
poor evidences in Ezekiel s ministry. The word malak has been used to refer to Yahweh once (Ezek.
20:33). However, the context does not provide any element that has to do with the enthronement of
Yahweh.
In second chapter, the author deals with the royal ideology in Ezekiel. Block briefly talks about the

proclamation. The Thirteenth Amendment was also the first of the Reconstruction Amendments.
The Reconstruction Amendments are the Thirteenth , Fourteenth, and Fifteenth amendment to the
constitution. These amendments helped shape the American south after the war. The Thirteenth
Amendment was very important and was a great accomplishment for the United States and the
greatest president, Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln did many great things as the president of
the united states. Lincoln also did many great things and he was very successful prior to his time
in office. In the 1803 s Lincoln practiced law and was self

Q
The greatness of Alexander III, as he was originally, has been disputed in the past. His legend has
survived for thousands of years, and his name is well known, but just how great was he? In
answering this question it is necessary to define the terms deserve and great . For these purposes, to
deserve will mean to be worthy of. Great has many meanings, and will be defined as: important;
grand; distinguished; remarkable in ability or character; competent; or above what is normal, with
implied admiration. Alexander, son of Philip, the king of the Macedonians, was more than most
men. His achievements were admirable, and his success brilliant. His accomplishments were grand,
momentous and distinguished, having huge impact on the history of... Show more content on

Alexander had remarkable ability, and so was great in many different ways. On top of doing
great things, Alexander was a great leader, and a political and military genius. His goal to
conquer Persia was one that he would let nothing stand in the way of. As leader of his troops, he
suffered their same wounds, being one of the last great leaders to personally take the risk of
death in battle. Alexander listened to every man he had, and so became very close to his men.
Some argue his ability in motivating and inspiring his men was in fact the greatest ever seen,
half defeating the opposition in nerves before a battle began. He was also remarkable with
military tactics, employing strategies still used today. As the Encarta Encyclopedia put it:
Alexander was one of the greatest generals of all time, noted for his brilliance as a tactician and
troop leader and for the rapidity with which he could traverse great expanses... He succeeded
politically as well, earning respect from many people. Alexander s charisma and adoption of
Persian customs gave him strong loyalty needed in order to control his massive empire. However,
the greatness in his work here is questionable: often he used brutal force, sometimes killing
thousands of civilians, or selling them into slavery. But overall, Alexander must be seen as great
man in terms of a leader and a military commander. There is one major area of Alexander where
heated debates often occur: his character and

Compare And Contrast Mitosis And Meiosis
Comparing Mitosis and Meiosis
Inside the human body, there are two different cells who help the reproductive system. Those are
Mitosis and meiosis which are similar and different than one another.
There are many ways that mitosis and meiosis are similar such as them having always having a
Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase,Telophase (PMAT). In addition, both of them have their own
interphase at the start of the PMAT. Also, since they have a PMAT then they will always create
cells during it which would mean that PMAT will always repeat. Without Mitosisand Meiosis, the
human population would already be extinct. Even though they have their similarities they also have
their own differents. Everything is different in their own way. Mitosis and

The Contribution Of Galileo
Galileo Galilei, an Italian scientist, made groundbreaking observations that contributed to modern
physics and astronomy. Galileo established mathematics as the language of scientific discovery. He
founded the scientific method and helped establish the modern practice of experimentation and
calculated laws of nature.
In July of 1609, Galileo developed his own telescope and with it, he made several astronomical
discoveries. For example, Galileo discovered that the surface of the moon is rough and uneven as
opposed to smooth as people had thought. Galileo also discovered with his telescope that many
more stars exist than are visible to the naked eye. According to author E.B., Galileo also found
sunspots upon the surface of our star and discovered the phases of Venus, which confirmed that the
planet circles the sun inside Earth s own orbit (45).
Galileo was also curious about how things move, and this curiosity led to important discoveries in
physics. For instance, he questioned the then current belief that heavy objects fall faster than light
ones. In order to refute this, Galileo did many experiments. For example, it is said that he dropped
two different weights from the Tower of Pisa to show that they hit the ground at the same time, a
demonstration that paved the way for Isaac Newton s Laws of Motion. Galileo also tested his
theory by rolling balls down an inclined plane at various angles. These experiments lead to Galileo
s the law of falling bodies. This law states that all objects will fall at an equal rate when accounting
for relatively minor differences in aerodynamics and weather conditions.
Another discovery Galileo made with regards to motion was about the pendulum. The author of An
Inquisitive Mind Kim Zarins wrote about the experiment:
Galileo made two pendulums with string of equal lengths and a lead ball at the end of each. Then
he pulled one ball back twice as far as the other, and let them both go at the same time. He
expected to see the ball with the longer swing take a longer time to move back and forth. In fact,
both pendulums moved in perfect synchronization! They swung at the same rate, even though one
pendulum was moving twice as far and one ball was heavier than the other (41).

Who Is Abigail Adams Struggle For Equality In Colonial...
Consumed with the desire to gain liberty and equality, Americans fought for changes in their society
resulting in the American War for Independence. Unfortunately the fight for independence did not
bring liberty and equality to all Americans. Native Americans, African slaves, and women continued
under the control of those with more money and power, which mainly included white, property
owning men. As time went on the young American Republic continued to fight for ideals
independence eventually making a revolutionary change in the way American s live. Soon after the
American War for Independence, the Declaration of Independence was written and amendments to
the Constitution were made in order bring America into a new season of change in government....

Most countries during the Colonial Era were ruled by a monarchy claiming only one religion to
be true and enforcing that religion on the people under their rule. Some of the first settlers came
from Britain, where Catholicism was forced upon each citizen, whether it was what they
believed or not. Religious freedom was a rare liberty the settlers longed for, causing them to
leave their home country to come to the new world in hopes of gaining the freedom they desired.
Yet, even though the Europeans resented having a ruler tell them what religions were wrong and
what religion they had to be believe, various groups of settlers still came to America and told the
Indians their religion was wrong and forcefully attempted to convert the Indians to their own
beliefs. It was many years after they arrived that the settlers finally established an official law
giving religious freedom to all

How Does Marat Use Art As Propaganda
On July 13, 1793, a young Royalist by the name of Charlotte Corday managed to gain entry into
French revolutionary leader Jean Paul Marat s apartment. As the well known writer had agreed
to receive her, she proceeded to stab and kill him when he was most vulnerable, in his bathtub.
This was where he was accustomed to sitting hour after hour treating the disfiguring skin disease
from which he suffered. The disease is thought of to be dermatitis herpetiformis, a rare ailment
where the sufferer lives with chronic, very itchy skin rashes made up of bumps and blisters. A
traumatic political assassination was carried out by a woman and only added fuel to the
revolutionary fire. The Death of Marat has been forever captured by Jacques Louis David as a
famous work of art which now resides within the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
Further examining this piece shows how the work of art was used as propaganda during its time
period. Looking at the piece it s clear that Marat is dying. His eyelids droop as his head weighs

David fills his canvas with numerous details borrowed from Marat s world, including the knife
which was used to kill him and Charlotte s petition. Having these items be the only ones in the
room with any connection towards the assassin almost completely erases her from the picture.
Rather than place the attention on her, he shines a light on Marat, allowing him to show a gentler
side to the man. The only piece of furniture in the room beside the bathtub itself is the writer s
makeshift writing table which at the bottom had something very interesting on it written in french.
On the bottom of the painting, it says year two. ( L an Deux translating directly to Year Two ). We
are not in 1793 but instead we are in year two of the revolution. Replacing the old world with the

Biblical Worldview And Buddhism Worldview
Buddhist do not believe there is a beginning or an end to the world, and life. They deny that the
world was created at any particular given time or date. Buddhists believe in Samsara, meaning
they think the world was created over and over, and will continue to do so until it is time for it to
break away.
Biblical worldview and Buddhism worldview have very little similarities when it comes to the
question of origin. Christians believe in creation, and that God is the creator. They believe humans
are made in Gods image, and that He created the heavens and the earth. Buddhist believe there is no
external concept of a god. When the Buddha was approached by non Buddhist who did not
understand his nature and thought he was the same concept of Jesus, Buddha rejected this concept
entirely. Buddhist believe in a concept of a network meaning that something exists because
something else already existed. Everything is connected, they do not believe there is a need to
jump from existence to non existence (Luis, 4).
Being human to a Buddhist comes from their view of a collection of five aggregates; body,
consciousness, volition, perception, and emotions. They believe that humans are being in a state of
constant and continuous change.
Christians believe God created everything living from the trees to the fishes in the sea. The human
identity is found in knowing their true nature, and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Mankind was created basically to be stewards, they are

The Lincoln Electric Company Case Study Essay
There are plenty of reasons why Lincoln Electric Company (LEC) is successful, and a big one
that people usually credit the success to is the way it s managed. While reading the Lincoln
Electric Company Harvard Case Study by Arthur Sharplin, we learned a lot about the echo of the
founder s philosophies still very present in the company, we looked at the highly rewarding merit
payplan, and we learned about LEC s authoritarian managementstyle. There are plenty more
reasons why LEC has been so successful over the years but these three are mostly responsible for
the productivity, efficiency, morale, and overall satisfaction of the factory level employees and all
the way up to the President s office. A lot of people thoughtthat once Mr. James Lincoln (better
known as Jimmy Sr. ) died in 1965 that the company would stop succeeding. People thought profits
would drop, philosophies would be out of use, and the company would stop following Lincoln s
system that had led them so far. Opposite to that happened. Employee turnover rate became
extremely low because of care to the employees and a well thought up management team. Employee
productivity stayed at the standard that was established because Lincoln s bonuses stayed with the
company even when he had left it The company seemed stronger than ever . In addition to these
standards, Lincoln also thought that the company should finance new locations through earnings
made at LEC, not through loans or borrowing. This philosophy could

I was intrigued to find this art piece which is called Head Smashed In Engine Block Buffalo

That was their culture and way of living, to skin and scavenge the bison, taking anything useful
such as fur for clothing and its meat for food. After the animals rot, they collected all the bones

show the western culture by using scavenged materials which were taken from a car scrap yard. I
could imagine how long it would take to construct countless bison skulls using various car exhaust
parts. Looking at closer inspection, you can see many skulls have been discolored to a rust or
brownish finish, and there are actually exhaust mufflers within the pile standing

Gothic Literature Research Paper
The Structure of Gothic Literature Gothic literature starts with some realistic and some being
fictitious, the authors will distributes their stories with characteristics seen in reality or heard in
fairytales. Spirits, mystery, and entrapment are gothic characteristics preserved throughout the
works of Morgenstern, Irving, Hawthorne, and Poe. Spirts are used between The Devil and
Tom Walker and Night Circus to show the horrific side of the dead. In The Devil and Tom
Walker , Irving uses the Old Scratch to resemble the devil. As Tom Walker makes a deal with

In Morgenstern Night Circus, one in society may only look at small things that could have a
huge impact in one s life. Unfortunately, they fail to complete due to the confusion of one s mind.
The smallest charms can be the most effective...It doesn t seem to be very effective
(Morgenstern 247). Now in Poe Fall of the House of Usher many just scar their minds due to so
much horrific ideas that eventually build up to haunt one s mind. There was an iciness, a
sickening of the heart an unredeemed deadness of thought which no goading of the imagination
could torture into aught of the sublime (Poe 28). One s own mind can play all sorts of games on
you if not controlled correctly. The gothic elements that composed the creation of a gothic
literature story were dispersed throughout the works of Morgenstern, Irving, Hawthrone, and Poe.

It is possible to understand certain pieces of literature outside its historical context; however, it is more beneficial if the reader has background knowledge. Taha Muhammad Ali was a Palestinian poet that was born in 1931. He grew up in Saffuriya, Galilee which is located in the Middle East. Ali was self taught through his readings of classical Arabic literature, American fiction, and English poetry. Ali then began to write poems in the 1970s. He wrote a poem entitled Meeting at an Airport which is based on his personal experiences. Without knowing his background information and history, it is unclear about what exactly is meant by this poem. This piece of literature elicits the sense of reconnection and the exact same feelings for each other just like the first time they met. In the poem, Meeting at an Airport written by Taha Muhammad Ali, historical context is needed to understand this piece because it emphasizes the theme, the purpose of the poem, and establishes credibility ( Poetry Foundation ). Many schools use technology to enhance student learning. Administrators have bought technological devices and tools such as; digital cameras, SMART boards, laptops computers, projectors, and course software to support curriculum, all in the hopes of improving student achievement and motivation. However, the technology tools themselves should not be the focus. Technology cannot take place of the teacher; it is a tool that the educator uses to enhance the student s understanding and should be used as supplemental and to complement the educator s lessons. Bassett recognized that the technological age should not be about technology alone, rather it should be about what the teacher and the students are doing with the technology to further understanding and engagement with the lesson (2005, p. 77). Technology tools are becoming readily available for teachers and students. Today technology is more available then ever. • 9. What Are The Roles Of English Language Introduction The term language describes any body of sounds, words, symbols or gestures used by specific groups of people to communicate with each other (Language, n. d.). There are many types of languages including speech, body language, sign language, and written languages such as mathematics, music and symbols. Language has many functions that are determined by the mode in which they are presented. The way language is conveyed can alter the intended meaning or context for example a difference in tone can change a comment from complimentary to sarcastic. Language is continuously evolving. An example of this is the short, abbreviated style we now use to communicate digitally. One tiny picture called an emoji can now convey our feelings. Emojis are also universal, serving as a communication tool to bridge the gap between different languages. Other examples of language evolving are the several new forms of English that have emerged such as Aboriginal English, American English and East Asian English. Language plays many roles in our lives as language is both a social tool and an information tool (Hayes Gee, 2011, p.24). Language is a powerful means of communication, learning and self expression; and contributes substantially to our sense of identity, wellbeing and belonging. Children predominantly learn language from observing and interacting with adults. The manner in which adults use language and interact with children, determines how children learn to use language ... • 14. Sociological Perspectives In Sociology Three major sociological approaches in the field of sociology are known as functionalist, conflict, and symbolic interactionist perspectives. The three sociological approaches are utilized to explain and enhance why racism is prominent in the United States. These viewpoints each discussed racism, but by using different terminology and specific focuses, each perspective is able to illustrate very unique and diverse concepts. As stated by Kendall (2015), Racism is a set of attitudes, beliefs, and practices that is used to justify the superior treatment of one racial or ethnic group and the inferior treatment of another racial or ethnic group (p. 284). As Kendall (2015) defined, dominant groups are racial or ethnic groups that have the greatest power and resources in a society. Subordinate groups are ones whose members, because of physical or cultural characteristics, are disadvantaged and subjected to unequal treatment and discrimination by the dominant group. (p. 283). In the society found in the United States, dominant groups incorporated white Americans while subordinate groups incorporated individuals such as immigrants, African Americans, and Asian Americans. The difference between all three perspectives begins with the context of how dominant and subordinate groups are used in the explanation of racism. Functionalist perspectives analyzed racism on a macro level in which the dynamics of the subordinate and dominate groups in the entirety of society is critiqued ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Difference Between Art And Contemporary Art Christian Casas Rafael Hernandez LIT3400 The Everyday A typical way of relating social/political issues to art assumes that art represents the thing one way or another. But there can be a more interesting perspective, which is looking at the field of art as a place of work. Basically look at what it does not what it shows. Amid all other forms of art, fine art has been associated with post Fordist ideology. Post Fordism is a popular system of economically based on production, consumption and has been in most industrialized countries since the late 20th century. Contemporary art is not an out of this world discipline hidden away in some remote building. In fact, it s the opposite because it positions itself in the thick of things. It can function as a brand name without a brand feeding off the bits and pieces of social and political issues. Presently, contemporary art has grown apart from important hubs, which gives the artist a wider range of production and provides various opportunities for showcasing the work. In contrast, this has not always been the case. Artist in novels about portraitures are depicted as servants due to the flow of cash. Art should be functioning on its own without the need of an institutional backing in order to create separation between the artist and their work as well as what the work can do . This small coin flip plays a such a large role in the idea of fate because it leaves Anton questioning if it was fate that caused the man to guess correctly, or if it was just pure luck and chance. Though not directly proving that fate causes the man to be left alive, it brings the overall idea to thought and then keeps the thought present for the remainder of the novel. One critic talking about the theme of fate in Cormac McCarthy s novels says, The killer s presumed insanity is the natural outcome of a deterministic philosophy prefigured in the dialogue between John Grady Cole and Duena Alfonsa in All the Pretty Horses, when they ponder the role of fate, chance, and choice through the metaphor of the coin toss. The same chaos theory that formed the intellectual basis for that conversation motivates the thoughts and actions of Anton Chigurh (Michael Hollister). In this analysis, of McCarthy s novels as a whole, the critic helps push the idea that Anton is a symbol of fate and evil when he describes the relation of his coin to McCarthy s other work, All the Pretty Horses. By means of the coin and the character of Anton, McCarthy is able to set fate in the mind of the reader and suggest its power when it comes to determining the outcome of a ... Barbie Dolls On Young Children Essay Mattel: Influences of Barbie dolls on young children Mattel is considered one of the most leading industry when it comes to the invention of toys and video games. Mattel is also a leading brand company that researches and develops new toys and then buys or license them from inventors. But what exactly are they doing to convince us consumers to buy their products? For the past decades now, Barbie dolls mainly created by Mattel have grown tremendously and have made a huge impact to children s lives. Kids are influenced by what they see on television and therefore automatically drawn to imitate whatever characters they seem to be interesting. Their characters, dressing, and responsibility influence young children to change dramatically. Based on A Rhetorical Analysis of Amy Lin s Article , the writer Amy Lin argues that Barbie dolls and all its associated products fosters or encourage a consumerist ethos in young girls (children), I agree that Barbie dolls not only influence children based on materialism but it also encourages a false view of reality. In the article by Amy Lin, given that Barbie has become the alpha doll (Talbot 74) for girls in today s popular culture, young female consumers clearly associate only good things with Barbie. The product itself has become a tradition handed down from mother to daughter or a rite of passage that most girls go through. Without Mitosisand Meiosis, the human population would already be extinct. Even though they have their similarities they also have their own differents. Everything is different in their own way. • 45. The Contribution Of Galileo Galileo Galilei, an Italian scientist, made groundbreaking observations that contributed to modern physics and astronomy. Galileo established mathematics as the language of scientific discovery. He founded the scientific method and helped establish the modern practice of experimentation and calculated laws of nature. In July of 1609, Galileo developed his own telescope and with it, he made several astronomical discoveries. For example, Galileo discovered that the surface of the moon is rough and uneven as opposed to smooth as people had thought. Galileo also discovered with his telescope that many more stars exist than are visible to the naked eye. According to author E.B., Galileo also found sunspots upon the surface of our star and discovered the phases of Venus, which confirmed that the planet circles the sun inside Earth s own orbit (45). Galileo was also curious about how things move, and this curiosity led to important discoveries in physics. For instance, he questioned the then current belief that heavy objects fall faster than light ones. In order to refute this, Galileo did many experiments. For example, it is said that he dropped two different weights from the Tower of Pisa to show that they hit the ground at the same time, a demonstration that paved the way for Isaac Newton s Laws of Motion. Galileo also tested his theory by rolling balls down an inclined plane at various angles. These experiments lead to Galileo s the law of falling bodies. This law states that all objects will fall at an equal rate when accounting for relatively minor differences in aerodynamics and weather conditions. Another discovery Galileo made with regards to motion was about the pendulum. The author of An Inquisitive Mind Kim Zarins wrote about the experiment: Galileo made two pendulums with string of equal lengths and a lead ball at the end of each. Then he pulled one ball back twice as far as the other, and let them both go at the same time. He expected to see the ball with the longer swing take a longer time to move back and forth. In fact, both pendulums moved in perfect synchronization! They swung at the same rate, even though one pendulum was moving twice as far and one ball was heavier than the other (41). ... Most countries during the Colonial Era were ruled by a monarchy claiming only one religion to be true and enforcing that religion on the people under their rule. Some of the first settlers came from Britain, where Catholicism was forced upon each citizen, whether it was what they believed or not. Religious freedom was a rare liberty the settlers longed for, causing them to leave their home country to come to the new world in hopes of gaining the freedom they desired. Yet, even though the Europeans resented having a ruler tell them what religions were wrong and what religion they had to be believe, various groups of settlers still came to America and told the Indians their religion was wrong and forcefully attempted to convert the Indians to their own beliefs. It was many years after they arrived that the settlers finally established an official law giving religious freedom to all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. How Does Marat Use Art As Propaganda On July 13, 1793, a young Royalist by the name of Charlotte Corday managed to gain entry into French revolutionary leader Jean Paul Marat s apartment. As the well known writer had agreed to receive her, she proceeded to stab and kill him when he was most vulnerable, in his bathtub. This was where he was accustomed to sitting hour after hour treating the disfiguring skin disease from which he suffered. The disease is thought of to be dermatitis herpetiformis, a rare ailment where the sufferer lives with chronic, very itchy skin rashes made up of bumps and blisters. A traumatic political assassination was carried out by a woman and only added fuel to the revolutionary fire. The Death of Marat has been forever captured by Jacques Louis David as a famous work of art which now resides within the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. Further examining this piece shows how the work of art was used as propaganda during its time period. Looking at the piece it s clear that Marat is dying. David fills his canvas with numerous details borrowed from Marat s world, including the knife which was used to kill him and Charlotte s petition. Having these items be the only ones in the room with any connection towards the assassin almost completely erases her from the picture. Rather than place the attention on her, he shines a light on Marat, allowing him to show a gentler side to the man. The only piece of furniture in the room beside the bathtub itself is the writer s makeshift writing table which at the bottom had something very interesting on it written in french. • 48. Biblical Worldview And Buddhism Worldview Buddhist do not believe there is a beginning or an end to the world, and life. They deny that the world was created at any particular given time or date. Buddhists believe in Samsara, meaning they think the world was created over and over, and will continue to do so until it is time for it to break away. Biblical worldview and Buddhism worldview have very little similarities when it comes to the question of origin. Christians believe in creation, and that God is the creator. They believe humans are made in Gods image, and that He created the heavens and the earth. Buddhist believe there is no external concept of a god. When the Buddha was approached by non Buddhist who did not understand his nature and thought he was the same concept of Jesus, Buddha rejected this concept entirely. Buddhist believe in a concept of a network meaning that something exists because something else already existed. Everything is connected, they do not believe there is a need to jump from existence to non existence (Luis, 4). Being human to a Buddhist comes from their view of a collection of five aggregates; body, consciousness, volition, perception, and emotions. They believe that humans are being in a state of constant and continuous change. Christians believe God created everything living from the trees to the fishes in the sea. The human identity is found in knowing their true nature, and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Mankind was created basically to be stewards, they are ... • 49. The Lincoln Electric Company Case Study Essay There are plenty of reasons why Lincoln Electric Company (LEC) is successful, and a big one that people usually credit the success to is the way it s managed. While reading the Lincoln Electric Company Harvard Case Study by Arthur Sharplin, we learned a lot about the echo of the founder s philosophies still very present in the company, we looked at the highly rewarding merit payplan, and we learned about LEC s authoritarian managementstyle. There are plenty more reasons why LEC has been so successful over the years but these three are mostly responsible for the productivity, efficiency, morale, and overall satisfaction of the factory level employees and all the way up to the President s office. A lot of people thoughtthat once Mr. James Lincoln (better known as Jimmy Sr. ) died in 1965 that the company would stop succeeding. People thought profits would drop, philosophies would be out of use, and the company would stop following Lincoln s system that had led them so far. Opposite to that happened. Employee turnover rate became extremely low because of care to the employees and a well thought up management team. Employee productivity stayed at the standard that was established because Lincoln s bonuses stayed with the company even when he had left it The company seemed stronger than ever . In addition to these standards, Lincoln also thought that the company should finance new locations through earnings made at LEC, not through loans or borrowing. This philosophy could ...
