Ignorance In Grendel
Though the novel Grendel by John Gardner, there is no monster. Through Gardner s words, he
shows that excessive ignorance, is the only fault his characters carry. It s fair to say there are many
times where this point is established during the exploration of the text.
There cannot be a monster in this novel if both human and creature are one in the same. Both
Grendel and the thanes react to the unknown the same way. At the start both are intrigued by the
beings since, Grendel can understand the thanes. Not to long after these thoughts Grendel narrates
that they all began shouting at each other, One of the horses neighed and reared up, and for some
crazy reason they took it for a sign, the king snatched am ax from the man bedside him and,

Loren Eiseley Essay
Loren Eiseley was a strong autobiographical nature writer who was also contemporary in some
ways. He was born in 1907 and lived until 1977 in the plains of Nebraska. His mother was deaf
and a unstable mother. As a child Loren spent his childhood writing stories and poetry, this was an
interest of his at a early age resulting him to his future of being a nature writer. Loren Eiseley
eventually became a professor in Pennsylvania teaching anthropology. In the mid 20th century he
made a achievement of publishing his first book, not only was this his first book but it was a best
seller. It influenced many Americans on human nature and natural events. Eiseley spent much of his

To me being in a city like New York and going to the train station is something so far from nature.
Loren has seen a different way of looking at this in a nature way, since he observes the crows and
pigeons. Not only does Loren Eiseley talk bout New York but also his experiences in the forests
of nature. He has said You may put it that I had come over a mountain, that I had slogged through
fern and pine needles for half a long day, and that on the edge of a little glade with one long,
crooked branch extending across it, I had sat down to rest with my back against a stump.
Through accident I was concealed from the glade, although I could see into it perfectly. The sun
was warm there, and the murmurs of the forest life blurred softly into my sleep. When I awoke,
dimly aware of some commotion and outcry in the clearing, the light was slanting down through
the pines in such a way that the glade was lit like some vast cathedral. I could see the dust motes
of the wood pollen in the long shaft of light, and there on the extended branch sat an enormous
raven with red and squirming nestling in his beak. In this passage Loren Eiseley was so
descriptive I could imagine him trudging through the ferns and the pine forests falling asleep next

Simone De Beauvoir The Second Sex Analysis
Nicole Brautigam Gender Studies Midterm One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.
Feminist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir wrote the book, The second Sex, in 1949 to investigate
the popular definitions of femininity. She concluded that those definitions had been used to
suppress women through the ages. For de Beauvoir, the views of individuals are socially and
culturally produced. Femininity is not inherent, it is a construct that has been learned through
socialization to keep men dominant. De Beauvoir argued that women have been historically treated
as inferior and secondary to men for three reasons. She exemplifies that society teaches women,
one, to fulfil a male s needs and therefore exist in relation to men. Two, to follow... Show more

De Beauvoir, an author who critiqued Freud s theory, that it is not a matter of penis envy, rather
what the penis stands for. Women are lesser than men. Author Sigmund Freud had said, Most of
people s personality form during early childhood years. He outlined a series of psychosexual
stages that children pass through. The stages consist of the oral stage, the anal stage, the phallic
stage, the latency stage, and the genital stage. From birth to approximately 18 months, kids are
in the oral stage. They get most of their pleasure by sucking, biting and chewing. During this
stage, kids are still dependent on mom. Next is the anal stage, kids are in that from 18 months to
3 years old. During the anal stage children get a sense of control of the environment, as their
mothers try to toilet train them. This is called the anal stage because pleasure comes from their
bladder and sphincter muscles. They know that when they use these muscles, they can control part
of their environment and no longer totally be dependent on mom. During the phallic stage, from 3
to 6 years old, pleasure comes from the genitals. Freud believed at this stage kids would become
sexually attracted to the opposite sex parent. Jealous and rivalrous of their same sex parent. During
the phallic stage for men, they develop castration anxiety because they feel desires for their
mothers, and murderous towards the fathers. Most

Pipeline for stage n of NFU can be written as NFU n.
So here NFU 3 function implementation which has previously proposed in the literature [19,20],
the sigmoid of NFU 3 is for classifier and convolution layers which uses linear interpolation (f(x)
= ai _x + bi; x 2 [xi; xi+1]) with negligible loss of accuracy. the operator used here are two 16x1 16

advantage over normal cache. Because normal cache organization is attached tag check,
associatively, line size, speculative read, etc and cache conflicts which are overhead. The efficient
alternative, scratchpad, is used in VLIW processors though it tough to compile for. However a
scratchpad in a committed accelerator realize the best things are efficient storage, and both efficient
and easy utilization of locality because only a few algorithms have to be manually modified. The

characters, the American and a young ornithologist hunter, share a similar ambition of getting what
they want. The American wants his female love interest to have an operation, claiming that it is the
best option for their relationship. As for the young ornithologist hunter, he has a desire to catch a

As Sylvia wanders around the city, she meets a young ornithologist. The ornithologist merely
asks Sylvia for help to search for a rare bird. The ornithologist s tone may sound as if he was
desperate for this creature, I would give ten dollars to anybody who could show it to me (Jewett
61). She soon discovers that they both share a common interest for animals and nature. At this
moment, Sylvia found the ornithologist charming and wants to build a friendship with this
character. As the story progresses, Sylvia realizes that the ornithologist is a hunter and changes
her interest in him, as it states in the text, Sylvia would have liked him vastly better without the
his gun (Jewett 61). In this situation, Sylvia rethinks to herself on making her decision,
according to the text, Wondering over and over again what the stranger would say to her, and
what he would think when she told him how to find his way straight to the heron s nest (Jewett
64). Whether she should go against what she believes in to protect a rare bird and receive ten
dollars, to help support her family or ruin a relationship with the hunter. In the end, Sylvia stays
true to what she believes in and did not reveal the bird s location. By choosing this decision she has

The following report is a brief comparative analysis of two of Australia s largest deposit taking

aggregate return per dollar of equity and thus establish the highest performer, or most profitable, of
the two. The Return on Equity Model (ROE) (Koch amp; MacDonald, ... Show more content on

According to ROA, ANZ s profitability fell short of Westpac s by 0.146%, with the ROA
percentage at 0.95% and 1.096% respectively (Appendix A). The difference in profits is caused
by Westpac s substantially higher total assets, which outweigh ANZ s by $75,740,000. Although
ANZ has a greater level of liquid assets, Westpac s substantially higher loan portfolios generate
higher returns. The lower ROA is caused by ANZ s interest bearing assets under performing, or
carrying lower risks leading to lower yields, or a greater reliance upon non interest bearing assets.
ROE is linked to ROA through the EM.
ANZ s 2011 EM was 15.62x, slightly higher than Westpac s 15.35x, suggesting ANZ s assets are
funded by more debt than Westpac, this combined with lower returns is usually indicative of a low
performing institution (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). Further decomposition leads to
analysis of the Expense ratio (ER) and Asset Utilisation (AU).
ANZ s overall ER of 4.99% is relatively lower than Westpac s at 5.36% (Appendix A) supporting
the earlier conclusion that ANZ s lower ROA is caused by lower earning interest bearing assets
rather than an inability to control expenses (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). ANZ s lower
ER can be attributed to its considerably lower Interest Expense (IE) percentage, 3.35% compared
with Westpac s 4.05% (Appendix A), suggesting that, during

Democratic Party Vs. Democratic Parties
Since the beginning the United States the its form of government has been considered unique.
While it is different from many other forms of government it gives each U.S. citizen the ability to
speak their mind on who they believe their country should be governed by and what laws they
should be governed under. In making these decisions citizens generally take a side, Republican or
Democrat. Republican and Democratic parties are two of the nations oldest political parties
however, when they originated the Republican party was the Democratic partythat we have today
and the Democratic party was the Conservative party we have today. To put that in simpler terms,
the Democratic party were the Confederates in the civil war while the Republican party was the
Union. Democrats of that time favored a limited government, supported the idea of manifest
destiny, and fought for the continuation of slavery whereas the Republican party of that time
opposed slavery, favored government policies such as nation currency, high tariffs, or increased
funding on the university system. The switch to the parties we know today is said to have
happened gradually between 1872. While the party system today is flipped from the original
Democratic and Republican parties it still flows from historic roots but the reasoning s and
demographics behind who identifies as Liberal and who identifies as Conservative has advanced.
The basis of the government was set by three men, John Locke, Thomas Hobbs, and

addressed and presented in various genres varying from drama to fantasy. All these films,
however, have a single theme, which is embedded in the background; an attentive viewer may be
able to observe it. The issue is the challenge of the Native Americans to adjust to the modern post

Instead of portraying objective, factual reality, it is biased toward the plight of the Navajo Natives,
and designed to invoke sympathy for the Navajo s plight, and righteous indignation within the
audience against the corrupt, powerful corporate energy and mining business, and their cronies in
Washington D.C. Similarly to popular films, the movie appeals to the Categorical Imperative, an
internal sense of justice within the audience. The film narrates a brief history of the Navajo people,
and the history of consistent violation of treaties signed between the Navajo and the U.S
government, on the part of the government. In the center of the conflict lies the immense
abundance of the natural resources that are located on the Navajo land, and the big corporate and
governmental machinations, designed to exploit these resources at all costs. These machinations
resulted in forceful removal of the Navajo people from their land, and permanently altered their
way of life. The film is filled with dramatic scenes of powerful machinery destroying Navajo s
sacred sites, and their very lives, in the name of the corporate financial prosperity. These dramatic
frames are accompanied by the angelic voice of Laura Nyro and her song Broken Rainbow.

Critically Evaluate The Business Risk Audit Methodology
Q1. Critically evaluate the business risk audit methodology. (585 Words)
Business risk audit methodology (141 Words)
A risk based audit methodology is designed to be used throughout the audit to efficiently and

potential for causing material misstatements in the financial report. ASA 315 Identifying and

Risk management processes, including the effectiveness of responses and the completion of actions,
are being monitored by management to ensure they continue to operate effectively
5. Risks, responses and actions are being properly classified and reported.
The fact that risk based auditing encourages auditors to have integrated knowledge of businesses
makes the whole process of auditing less daunting as it used to be. Other benefits of following the
risk based approach of auditing are better understanding of business and its environment, Increased
chance of achieving audit objective, Saves resources and makes audit planning easier.
Disadvantages of risk based audit approach (150 Words) risk based audit methodology is
inextricably linked to the risk management framework. During Stage 1 it allows a conclusion on the
risk maturity of the organisation. If this is not high, it provides internal audit with an opportunity to
report that fact promptly to management and the audit committee so that they can take immediate
action. While this allows the internal audit activity to provide value to its organisation, RBIA is a
challenging prospect. Organisations with a poor level of risk maturity may be that way because the
managers and directors do not accept that a good risk management framework is an essential
element of a sound system of internal control. Internal audit may need to undertake a longer term
programme of activity to champion

Tristram And Iseult The Fair Analysis
The origins of the tale of Tristram and Iseult pre dates Lancelot and Guinevere, but the message
remains the same as Tristram s trials as a knight stem from his own actions. When Morholt, the
brother of the Queen of Ireland, demands Cornish slaves from King Mark, Tristram faces him in
one on one combat. Burdened by a fatal poisoned wound, Tristram boards a ship and eventually
washed up on the shores of Ireland. There, the Irish princess, Iseult the Fair, heals him. Upon his
return to Cornwall, his lord requests his assistance in his search for a queen. His only
stipulations lie in her provable royal blood and that a bird must drop a strand of her golden hair
before him. Tristram departs in search of this woman and lands again in Ireland. His success seems
impossible as he struggles with a dragon. The skirmish leaves him mortally wounded.
The linked fate between the lovers appears again as Iseult chances upon him and offers her
medical abilities. Unexpectedly, her parents offer her as a reward for his defeat of the dragon.
Tristram announces that instead of this match, he intends to give Iseult to King Mark. Worried for
her daughter s happiness, the Queen creates a love potion that she instructs Iseult s maid to give to

The Pros And Cons Of Nonconvulsive Status Epilepticus

Informative Speech: How to Decide on a College MajorBenjamin Ownby
I.Introduction
A.According to the National Center for Education Statistics in a 2013 study, college students
changed their major an average of three times.
B.Trying to determine a college major is difficult for us.
C.Last Spring, I was struggling to decide whether I should continue pursuing a degree in Civil
Engineering or change majors to MIS, an interesting major I had recently discovered. I continued to
have trouble making this decision, until I came across some useful information and tools.

5.After gathering all relevant information, it is time to start comparing the majors based off the data.
C.The last phase in determining a college major is using a decision making tool, such as a Pugh
Matrix, to compare the possible majors.
1.According to Dr. Burge, who is known in industry for his expertise in system design and decision
making, the Pugh Matrix was created by Stuart Pugh a very influential Professor of Design at
Strathclyde University in Scotland
2.Although the Pugh Matrix was originally created to help in choosing from a number of possible
designs, it can be used as a general tool in comparing alternatives.
3.In the Spring of last year when I was trying to decide between two majors, I used a Pugh Matrix
4.I am now going to show how this tool can be used to determine a major. (Use PPT Visual Aid)
a.Start by listing out factors to be considered such as job outlook, job stress level, cost of earning
degree, median pay, and so on. In this example factors are listed as generic criteria.
b.Then, rank the variables based on importance on a scale from one to five.
c.Assign a Base Major and list the other majors next to it.
d.List S for all the variables under the Base Major because scoring is based off how this compares

Participation Awards Bad
A belief is an acceptance or understanding that something thought or stated is true. Most people in
the world have a belief or a strong opinion about something in their lives. I have a strong belief
about various types of awards that can affect people in different ways. Awards are prizes given
to people who have achieved something great or been outstanding in an event. Awards can be
given for things such as: achievements in sports, obtaining a high grade point average in school,
or even more serious things like the Nobel Prize. Most often, awards are given to people who
exceed expectations and go above and beyond the requirements set before them. However,
occasionally, awards can be given to entire groups of people for participation alone, even when
some of the people in those groups do not deserve an award, which I strongly see as a negative
thing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I presume this because participation awards can cause a recipient feel entitled to be given a
tangible reward for simply being involved in an event without necessarily giving any effort or
making progress towards achieving a common goal with the rest of the person s group. Another
reason why I think participation awards are a bad thing is because the awards sometimes cause
a person to not try as hard as he or she can, keeping the person from reaching his or her full
potential. The final reason why I see participation awards as a bad thing is because they should
hold no value to owners because they are too common. Many different factors have influenced me
to feel this way including: personal experiences, my parents, and professional football player,
James Harrison. Participation awards are bad for society in many different ways, and many factors
have shaped me to feel this

Downtown Atlanta Georgia
Downtown Atlanta is a beautiful city that attracts visitors from in and out of the state. Atlanta
Downtown is a place where many businesses and jobs are located. This is the most frequent place
people visit in Atlanta. The biggest problem with downtown is not the lack of parking spaces but
there are too many people driving there at once.
Most parking available in downtown cost money and time. Even the parking spaces available are
very limited and not everyone could afford it. The parking decks in downtown belong to some
companies. Most of those companies even make their own employee pay for it. As for the city,
they have some free parking spaces which are limited to the public. Many of those parking spaces
in Downtown Atlanta are usually not free. Atlanta is not the only state in America who does not
provide free parking for their customers, workers, or tourists alike. For instance New York
downtown charges for their parking. They are many parking meters on the sides of the roads
where you can park your car for a limited period of time. Atlanta Downtown has meters on every
available space on the streets and at every corner possible. The meters are step up only on a time
limit. People say that the meters need to be fed before it works. And that is true, if anyone fails to
pay the meter than your vehicle can be towed. That is more money out of your pocket. The street

Exploring The Role Of Hades In Greek Mythology
In Greek mythology, Hades was regarded as the oldest son of Cronus and Rhea, although the last
son regurgitated by his father. He and his brothers Zeus and Poseidon defeated their father s
generation of gods, the Titans, and claimed rulership over the cosmos. Hades received the
underworld, Zeus the sky, and Poseidon the sea, with the solid earth long the province of Gaia
available to all three concurrently. Hades was often portrayed with his three headed guard dog
Cerberus and, in later mythological authors, associated with the Helm of Darkness and the bident.
Many do not know but Hades is not only the god of the Underworld but the dead and riches.
In Greek mythology, Hades the god of the underworld, was a son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea.
He had three sisters, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera, as well as two brothers, Zeus, the youngest of the
three, and Poseidon. Upon reaching adulthood, Zeus managed to force his father to disgorge his
siblings. After their release, the six younger gods, along with allies they managed to gather,
challenged the elder gods for power in the Titanomachy, a divine war. The war lasted for ten years
and ended with the victory of the younger gods. Following their victory, according to a single
famous passage in the Iliad (xv.187 93), Hades and his two brothers, Poseidon and Zeus, drew lots
for realms to rule. Zeus received the sky, Poseidon received the seas, and Hades received the
underworld, the unseen realm to which the souls of the dead go upon leaving the world as well as
any and all things beneath the earth. Some myths suggest that Hades was dissatisfied with ... Show

Most of your assets are to be distributed among children or family. Estate planning should be
taken care of before ones death rather than after. If nothing is setup then there is a probate court
that will distribute and properly execute to people or organizations, which is required by law. It is
recommended that your assets be set up as a nonprobate property. Meaning that you have
distributed your assets by transfer to a designed beneficiary, transfer to property ownership
designation and transfer by payable death designation. Having a joint tenant in a property transfers
immediately to that person upon ones death and for payable on death designation allows for the
beneficiary to access funds immediately with proof of a death certificate. A will also establishes
what should be done with any remaining assets after death. This is done through a personal
representative that identifies ones assets, collects any money due and after that is established they
will pay off any debts and after filing income tax distributes it with the permission of the court.

Is It Better To Grow Up In A Small Town Essay
Some believe it is better to grow up in a big city. However it is more beneficial to grow up in a
small town. Rural communities have a lot to offer. It offers numerous benefits to living in a bigger
community. For example, they have several job opportunities offered to the residents. There is less
conflict between each other because half of the people don t even know eachother. Therefore,
everyone is minding their business and keeping to themselves. The bigger the community you live
in the more money the cityprobably makes, for example, they offer a better education and provide
more options as what a student wants to pursue in after graduating high school. In my opinion there
are more sights to see when there are more places to experience and explore, therefore stating
why a big city is better to live in. In a more populated area, it expands the opportunities for jobs
in the community when there are more options to choose from. It s difficult to live in a
populated area, but it benefits almost everyone around you trying to make a living as well as
you are. Resulting in a huge reason why families move to bigger towns for job offers or
opportunities. As everyone knows businesses thrive better in cities, because they have more
people needing the opportunity to work for them. If the staff increases, the business will grow as
well. Businesses provide jobs for numerous people to help the company and provide for the
employees to receive what they needin daily living. The

Satire In The Daily Show
A short segment follows with a fake political correspondent or commentator exaggerating the issue
or mocking the absurdity of a situation. The show concludes with a guest interview either for
promotion of a recent work or for discussion on a current political issue.
Due to its blended nature as both a comedy and news show, The Daily Show has been able to
ignore both news media and comedy conventions, occupying a space that would make most
news shows wince and journalists hesitate. Many scholars and media critics debate whether the
show is fake news or reliable journalism. Although there are certainly segments that are obviously
fake news, the vast majority of The Daily Show is far from the realm of fake news, but also quite
distinct from hard news and journalism. There is a significant different between a fake news
program and a satirical news program. Satire is a discourse of inquiry that attempts to unravel the
morality of issues being discussed.1 Fake news is simply made up and has no basis in fact.

radiation on the environment and the people of Marshall Island. Furthermore, the book addresses
the various socio economic issues arising from the testing of nuclear weapons by the US in the
Pacific island between 1946 and 1958 (Barker, 2012). The author has gone to great lengths to
discuss how the government of the US has evaded moral responsibility for exposing thousands of
people to harmful radiations. Using a combination of research, life history, and archival research,
Barker has constructed a compelling history of the dangers of the testing program from the

In total, sixty seven tests were conducted in Marshall Island starting from 1946 until 1958. These
tests resulted in devastating effects on the lives of the people of Marshall Island. The
environment was also affected adversely because of the radiation. In 1979, the US allowed
Marshall Island to become a sovereign nation. However, agreements were signed that allowed
the US to continue the island as a missile site. It can be noted that Marshall Island consists of
over ten thousand small islands spread over a vast area of the ocean. The US forcefully
displaced all the people living in some of the islands to pave the way for the deadly nuclear tests.
In one of these tests, the US exploded the most powerful atomic device in its arsenal. So
powerful were most of these tests that the ensuing fireballs could be seen with the naked eye
from hundreds of miles away. The result was a massive destruction and contamination of the
islands in a scale that had never been experienced in any part of the world. Due to the dangers
facing the people of the island as a result of the radiations, various linguistic themes were
developed. These themes primarily focused on the impact of the tests on the people, their livestock

is sufficient proof that the tests had profound effects on the people. For example, the radiations

The Trinity is the word that we use to describe the nature of God. God consists of three
simultaneous, eternal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God being simultaneous or

These three Persons not only exist as one in the present moment, but will continue to do so with no

Food and Beverage Control Systems
Food and beverage control systems
Food and beverage control systems can help you introduce the same financial rigour to your dining

What is a food and beverage control system?
A food and beverage control system is a means of computerizing best practice within a restaurant or
catering operation. It gives managers a better idea of the flow of food through the restaurant,
enabling them to plan cash flow and stock control more effectively. At the sharp end, it provides
chefs with a more structured way of planning menus, taking into account nutritional and financial

Creating a database of suppliers and ingredients will enable you to manage ingredient pricing more
effectively.
Nutrition
More applicable for specialist dining establishments (such as those in hospitals) or catering
companies, the ability to provide nutritional information on the food you serve can offer you a
competitive edge, and reassure customers particularly in areas such as school dinners, for example.
Recipe management
Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that
they do not follow.
Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in
standard estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the
wastage caused by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help
you to price your food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can
price it more accurately to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit.
When looking at recipe management, consider the ability to nest recipes, because most recipes are
made up of multiple others. And a function to scale recipes easily for different quantities will be
invaluable for busy chefs.
Stock control and purchasing
Some food and beverage control systems give you the chance to inventory your food and create
purchase orders for more so you can maintain a minimum level of

Two minutes later, we were wedged into a lumpy sofa in Link s living room. The room looked

Inside my head, I heard a voice, slithering into one ear and coiling around my brain: I am the spirit
of Merlin, speaker of the prophecies, and possessor of the Holy Grail. Approach, seeker, and ask.
I wanted to say, No thanks, wrong door, just looking for the bathroom. But I forced myself to take

The Mage wasn t alive. He was some kind of gruesome receptacle for something else, the power

Narrative Structure Of Memento
Time can be a thinker s most thought provoking yet infuriating concept to grasp. Infinitely
complex, time plays a crucial role in everyone s life. We do not know much about it, other than that
it is there. What is before time or after time? Most movies move through a linear fashion. There is a
beginning, middle, and end. Narrativestructure can slightly be bended or modified, but for the most
part it follows the same basic formula. The movie Memento (2000), directed by Christopher Nolan,
follows Leonard Shelby, the main character with short term memory loss, trying to avenge his
fallen spouse. He only remembers up until the time his head was bashed into a mirror after his
spouse was sexually assaulted. The movie is told in a unique way through two stories that do not
make complete sense until the end. Memento s unconventional narrative structure puts the audience
into Leonard s shoes, which is apparent in the movie s convoluted flashbacks, out of sequence story,
and bleak ending.
One of the most conventional uses of a flashback is to give the viewer some answers through back
story. In Memento, the audience is getting information thrown at them, but it is confusing and
mysterious. It invites the viewer to ask more questions rather than answer questions. Nolan does
this intentionally, so that the audience relates to Leonard s jumbled life. Roger Ebert, a well known
film reviewer, wrote One striking element of the film is a series of flashbacks that illuminate, or
confuse, the

A Brief Note On The World Health Organization
The Definition Of Disability
The World Health Organization s (2011) report defined disability as being complex, dynamic and a
multidimensional highly debated problem that is part of the human condition. With aging, a
disability may become a part of elderly individual s daily lives. The WHO (2011) report described
impairments as an issue in body structure or function, limitation in activities as being restricted
from getting involved in life situations due to the disability. About 15% of the world s population
will face disability at some point of their lives. The report highlighted barriers faced by individuals
with disabilities when looking for health services, support and assistance, environmental
accessibility, education and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In India, the vast majority of individuals with disabilities are unemployed and have less access to
education than individuals without disabilities (Mishra and Gupta, 2006). Individuals with
disabilities encounter difficulties that require interventions to overcome as well as to remove social
and environmental barriers (World Health Organization, 2011). In addition, individuals with
disabilities are susceptible to secondary conditions such as depression, pain, injury, overweight and
obesity among other health problems (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016).
Moreover, the combination of disability and environmental factors contributes to create major
barriers in accessing rehabilitation services. Almost everyone who gets through old age experiences
some level of increased difficulties in functioning at some point in their life; therefore, disability is a
human rights issue in which appropriate accessibility would most certainly benefit us all
(Campbell and Oliver, 1996; Mishra and Gupta, 2006). Campbell and Oliver (1996) interviewed
disability rights activists in Europe, Asia, Southern Africa, North, Central and South America
presenting a wider vision of the individuals with disabilities life experience. The authors argued the
existence of a disability movement as always being present in history; however, with a different
focus. Campbell and Oliver (1996) analysed social theory,

A History of American Movies in Martin Scorsese’s A...
Martin Scorsese s A Personal Journey through American Film is a summary and analysis of the
history of American Movies. A legendary filmmaker in his own right, Scorsese highlights not
only the hits but also the lesser known but revolutionary titles. His analysis is clearly from a
director s point of view, which gives it an interesting and novel perspective. After a brief
introduction, Scorsese highlights what he calls the director s dilemma. A good director, he
says, is able to balance his or her own vision with that of the producers. This was far more
significant in the past, as the director was beholden to the producers. The best filmmakers were
able to overcome this obstacle and produce great movies. These days, directors are given
significantly more artistic license, and producers do little more than fund the idea and put the
team together. The director is a storyteller first, claims Scorsese. He quotes Raoul Walsh: If you
haven t got the story, you haven t got anything. Documentary style films were always a
secondary to fiction. This has improved as the industry matured, but still holds true today. For
better or for worse, a Hollywood director is an entertainer. He is in the business of telling stories,
Scorsese tells us. He outlines the birth of the classic American genres, ones that moviegoers take
for granted today. Directors, producers, and fans alike love familiar tropes and genres. Similar
themes pervade all movies, recycled and reworked into new

Social Motivation Of Social Ministry
Introduction Many churches have moved beyond the atonement only gospel to become socially
involved in their community in providing ministries such as, relief services, personal development
services and community development services. This strategy, of social involvement by the church
has been welcomed by many and has increased positive perception of the church and by extension
amplified the impact of the church. But, what is the motivation behind these social involvements
of the church. Is it something that they do in order to be more effective and relevant in sharing
the gospel? Or is it something they do because it is genetically linked to their faith? In this paper,
the writer will argue that in principle, social ministry should not be done as a means to make the
church relevant. That is, the motivation behind church based social interventions should not be
solely based on being relevant in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, which is to
make disciples. The writer proposes that social ministry ought to be a natural outworking of the
church. As such, a church cannot be considered authentic if it is not involved in social ministry.
Self benefit Motivation If the church is motivated to be socially involved because of the need to
make the ministry of church relevant, in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, then
the focus is not on the need of the person or community but, rather it is on the church achieving its
missional goal. In this

Straight Line-Personal Narrative
Although, Straight Line was hurt, I refused to give up, I endlessly searched to locate a
replacement horse. Thus came Princess, a buckskin mare that I borrowed from an acquaintance
of my sisters. My mother and I traveled to Goodland for a little test run and at the end of the day
we hauled her home. Thrilled is not a word I would use to describe the idea of running on her,
but what choice did I have. I needed a horse, any horse to ride at the finals, since Straight Line
was no longer able to run. Princess and my personalities clashed, there is only room for one
princess and I already occupied that position. Trust me when I say that typically mares have
bigger attitudes, than most teenage girls. Even though, I gave it my best shot, considering my
situation, we just could not find a rhythm together. Despite of my efforts, I knew it was going to
be a long week as I unsaddled her after the worst practice that I had ever had. Consequently, I
remember walking to the barn from the arena and feeling the blood run down my leg from
clobbering the barrels. I had bruises, all up and down my legs, from plowing into barrels during
our one and only practice. Finals were approaching fast and I could... Show more content on

run. Typically, I can handle an embarrassing situation, but the fact that it was broadcasted on
national television discouraged me. Even today the video is re ran on RFD TV. I am not longer
affected by the laughs or the jokes made on my behalf, I even join in every now and then. The
experience taught me that sometimes life is going to suck; however, it is so much better when you

Word count: 1. Introduction
In the race to develop alternatives in the recent era, chitin and derivatives has showed an immense
potential of being used as an alternate polysaccharide source and as a biopolymer in various sectors
spanned from medical and food processing to waste management. Chitin gets its name from the
Greek word, Chiton , the meaning of which is a coat of mail. It first surfaced in 1811, used by
Bradconnot (Shahidi et al. 1999). It is reported to be a biopolymer that is 2nd widely available on
the face of earth after cellulose (Shahidi et al. 1999; Fernando et al. 2016), chemically, chits is a
poly ( ОІ (1пѓ 4) N acetyl D glucosamine), that first came into existence in 1884 (Rinaudo 2006).
In nature, chitin occurs in an ordered crystalline microfibrils which is a form of structural
component found within the exoskeleton of arthropods or within the cell walls of microbes such as
fungi and yeast (Rinaudo 2006). Although these are the main sources of chitin, there are several
other plants and animal within the lower kingdoms which consists chitin that requires it for strength
and reinforcement (Rinaudo 2006). However, the main sources of chitin and its derivatives such a
chitosan, until now have been crabs and shrimp shells available as a

What Is The Environment A National Security Issue
National and international security threats are typically perceived as conflict between nations or

... (Define security) not all threats emanate from nations in conflict. The environment, for example,
can threaten the safety of people, and therefore becomes and national security issue. Brown (1977)
states ...threats to security may now arise less from the relationship of nation to nation and more
from the relationship of man to nature (p. 5). Homer Dixon (1991) says A number of scholars have
recently asserted that large scale human induced environmental pressures may seriously affect
national and international security (p. ???). Kaplan (2000) takes this idea a step further and asserts
that not only is the environment a national security concern, but it is the national security issue of
the early twenty first century (p. 19). Climate changeis a security issue, as it threatens to wreak
havoc on the natural processes that nurture life.
Examples of the environment as a national security issue: (Deforestation, air pollution, species
extinction, oil spills, untreated sewage, etc.): Homer Dixon (1999) gives examples of how
environmental issues threaten security: Deforestation increases the scarcity of forest resources,
water pollution increases the scarcity of clean water, and climate change increases the scarcity of

Masculinity In Bruce Wayne And Joey Tribbiani
Society is the number one determinant on how an individual is supposed to act given their sex. If
an individual is born with male reproductive parts, they must act a certain way in order to be
accepted by the larger population. When a boy starts to engage in certain activities that are not
defined as masculine he is shamed, and it is unbelievably hard to maintain his social status that he
may have once had, or was striving to attain. There are a few different theories when it comes to
masculinity and how it is defined. Also, actions that may be engaged that could hurt a males ego,
are expressing health concerns. Men feel like they should not express when they are physically in

When I think about Joey Tribbiani I think of the guy that has little manners, no filter, and cracks
a joke at the most inappropriate times. Also, he s the kind of guy that is physically hurt, as he
was in one episode on Friends, and refused to go to the doctor to get help, because of course he is
too much of a man. In addition, Joey is very smooth when it comes to whoever he is talking to,
whether it be another man or a female, and I feel as though the way that he gets what he wants, or
is respected is by his charismatic ways. As I have mentioned before, he is not the most
intimidating of men, but that does not mean that he doesn t fit under this hegemonic theory. As
for Bruce Wayne, he is extremely smart, unlike Joey who is not very educated at all. However,
Bruce Wayne is also very serious, he is your typical man that shows zero emotions, and if he does
it is extremely brief. Bruce Wayne manages to get the things he desires by using his intellectual
skills, or by literally buy whatever it may be for an outrageous amount of money. He is your typical

The Education Of Teacher Development
Asehun 1
Senay Asehun
Ms. McAlister
ENG. 112 21
3 April 2016 Education
Every year when the schools close in June, the question on every parent s mind is whether the
teacher teaching their child is competent, whether they will inspire them or whether they shall
concentrate on their individual needs. The question whether teachers help students in developing
the necessary basic skills, think and solve problems and have a good knowledge of what they teach
and their students, is important. This is because in the hands of the teacher is where every parent
entrusts their children. Though much progress has been made in answering the above stated
questions, more work is needed in the improvement of the education sector in America. More
parents are required to demand that their children are handled by competent teachers and
educationists. Business leaders need to demand the investment in teacher development by schools
and show them an example by how they invest in their employees. The law and policy makers need
to make the quality of teaching and the recruitment of competent teachers a first priority in their
legislations (Thomas, 2002). This proposal is relevant due to the importance of education not only
at an individual level but also for the nation as a whole. If the teaching standards remain unchecked,
then the quality of education is adversely affected, resulting in a situation where the nation becomes
undereducated.

The Importance Of Education For Public Schools
In Diane Ravitch Article she claims that the essentials of a good education is for public schools to
keep away from the standard testing because if takes time away from students furthering their
knowledge into learning, that not involves math or learning. Ravitch then continues into pointing
that the public system doesn t have the best educational learning system, which especially
involves minorities like black and Latino students. Ravitch proceeds into say that those types of
minorities haven t had any progress, because of the low income neighborhoods they live in.
While she argues that low income communities don t have the same resources as private schools.
Ravitch is refuting privatized schools as the answer to bridging the gap between the educational
scores of middle class whites and low income minorities. Ravitch tells readers, We know what
works. What works are the very opportunities that advantaged families provide for their children. In
homes with adequate resources, children get advantages that enable them to arrive in school
healthy and ready to learn . In contrast, children who are from disadvantaged homes are more likely
to experience stress and disruptions to their lives; be homeless; live in dangerous neighborhoods
with inadequate housing; have asthma; be exposed to lead; have untreated vision, hearing and
dental issues; and have an incarcerated or uneducated parent. They are dragged down by the

Reflection Of Storycorp Interview
Introduction
This paper will discuss the recent events that have happened in this past week. The results of the
personality and values test. How the StoryCorp interview got me closer to my mother. What I
learned about the photographic work field in my informational interview. The online programs I
plan to use for my 21 day APP project. How I hope this class will help my growth as a person.
Summary of Key Findings from Interest, Skills, Values and Personality Surveys I generally try to
be kind to others and I greatly enjoy making people laugh. I would like to incorporate humor into
my Capstone Project and show the beauty of nature. I want my pictures to make people happy
whether it is by laughing or admiring nature. I believe this project will go well with my personality.
StoryCorps Interview Reflection Karen, my mother, and I talked about family and religion. My
mother is a family based woman, she has become more religious in her age. I asked her what her
favorite memories of me were and she brought up events so far in the past I had forgotten them. It
was nice to reminisce about events long past and talk about Heaven. We do not normally talk about
Heaven so it was nice to hear her thoughts about it.
Informational Interview Results The Capstone Project I have chosen does not need a higher
education to pursue after. Mr. Dunahee explained that the degree he went in for was not for
photography. He had ended up in this work field after a friend paid him to do his wedding shots.
Mr. Dunahee told me this after we had finished our interview, I was unsure whether to add it in or
not.
Photography is a constantly adapting in order to keep up with all the new technology made
available. Why pay for a photographer when your phone can handle the job? While I greatly
admire the field I do not think it would be a suitable career choice for me. After the interview, Mr.
Dunahee encouraged me to join his class to learn more about photography face to face. While the
offer is tempting, I fear I do not have time to join his class due to my demanding work schedule.
21 Day APP Project Since my work schedule is very hectic I have chosen to take online class to
learn more about photography. I did have a hard time narrowing

Notes On Mergers And Acquisitions
Table 1 1 shows the summary of mergers and acquisitions activities in Malaysia for the year of
2011 and 2012. Based on the table, there is an increment of transaction value (in US$m) for both
announced and completed mergers and acquisitions in Malaysia. The value of announced mergers
and acquisition increase 20.14% from year 2011 to 2012. While the value of completed mergers
and acquisitionsin Malaysia increase about 48% from year 2011 to 2012.
Based on table 1 1, although not all the announced mergers and acquisitions are completed during
a year, the percentage of completed mergers and announcements for both years 2011 and 2012 is
more than 70% (2011 = 70.32% and 2012 = 72.77%). This is a good indication to a developing
country like Malaysia because more than 70% of announced mergers and acquisitions are
completed during a year. The increasing value of mergers and acquisitions over the years has
motivated this study to examine whether the mergers and acquisitions activities does provide a fair
return to the acquirers companies especially in term of the share prices changes. Therefore, it is
important to examine whether there is any abnormal returns around the announcement period.
However, if the market is efficient, we should expect the impact of mergers and acquisitions only
take place on the day of announcement while the other days around the event windows will not
generate significance different in abnormal returns.

It s fair to say there are many times where this point is established during the exploration of the text. There cannot be a monster in this novel if both human and creature are one in the same. Both Grendel and the thanes react to the unknown the same way. At the start both are intrigued by the beings since, Grendel can understand the thanes. Not to long after these thoughts Grendel narrates that they all began shouting at each other, One of the horses neighed and reared up, and for some crazy reason they took it for a sign, the king snatched am ax from the man bedside him and, ... His mother was deaf and a unstable mother. As a child Loren spent his childhood writing stories and poetry, this was an interest of his at a early age resulting him to his future of being a nature writer. To me being in a city like New York and going to the train station is something so far from nature. Loren has seen a different way of looking at this in a nature way, since he observes the crows and pigeons. Not only does Loren Eiseley talk bout New York but also his experiences in the forests of nature. He has said You may put it that I had come over a mountain, that I had slogged through fern and pine needles for half a long day, and that on the edge of a little glade with one long, crooked branch extending across it, I had sat down to rest with my back against a stump. Through accident I was concealed from the glade, although I could see into it perfectly. The sun was warm there, and the murmurs of the forest life blurred softly into my sleep. When I awoke, dimly aware of some commotion and outcry in the clearing, the light was slanting down through the pines in such a way that the glade was lit like some vast cathedral. I could see the dust motes of the wood pollen in the long shaft of light, and there on the extended branch sat an enormous raven with red and squirming nestling in his beak. In this passage Loren Eiseley was so descriptive I could imagine him trudging through the ferns and the pine forests falling asleep next to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Simone De Beauvoir The Second Sex Analysis Nicole Brautigam Gender Studies Midterm One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. Feminist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir wrote the book, The second Sex, in 1949 to investigate the popular definitions of femininity. She concluded that those definitions had been used to suppress women through the ages. For de Beauvoir, the views of individuals are socially and culturally produced. Femininity is not inherent, it is a construct that has been learned through socialization to keep men dominant. De Beauvoir argued that women have been historically treated as inferior and secondary to men for three reasons. She exemplifies that society teaches women, one, to fulfil a male s needs and therefore exist in relation to men. Two, to follow... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... De Beauvoir, an author who critiqued Freud s theory, that it is not a matter of penis envy, rather what the penis stands for. Women are lesser than men. Author Sigmund Freud had said, Most of people s personality form during early childhood years. He outlined a series of psychosexual stages that children pass through. The stages consist of the oral stage, the anal stage, the phallic stage, the latency stage, and the genital stage. From birth to approximately 18 months, kids are in the oral stage. They get most of their pleasure by sucking, biting and chewing. During this stage, kids are still dependent on mom. Next is the anal stage, kids are in that from 18 months to 3 years old. During the anal stage children get a sense of control of the environment, as their mothers try to toilet train them. This is called the anal stage because pleasure comes from their bladder and sphincter muscles. They know that when they use these muscles, they can control part of their environment and no longer totally be dependent on mom. During the phallic stage, from 3 to 6 years old, pleasure comes from the genitals. Freud believed at this stage kids would become sexually attracted to the opposite sex parent. Jealous and rivalrous of their same sex parent. During the phallic stage for men, they develop castration anxiety because they feel desires for their mothers, and murderous towards the fathers. Here scratchpad use as storage which has advantage over normal cache. Because normal cache organization is attached tag check, associatively, line size, speculative read, etc and cache conflicts which are overhead. The efficient alternative, scratchpad, is used in VLIW processors though it tough to compile for. However a scratchpad in a committed accelerator realize the best things are efficient storage, and both efficient and easy utilization of locality because only a few algorithms have to be manually modified. (ANZ) and Westpac Banking Corporation (Westpac). This report seeks to identify which of the FIs has a greater aggregate return per dollar of equity and thus establish the highest performer, or most profitable, of the two. The Return on Equity Model (ROE) (Koch amp; MacDonald, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to ROA, ANZ s profitability fell short of Westpac s by 0.146%, with the ROA percentage at 0.95% and 1.096% respectively (Appendix A). The difference in profits is caused by Westpac s substantially higher total assets, which outweigh ANZ s by $75,740,000. Although ANZ has a greater level of liquid assets, Westpac s substantially higher loan portfolios generate higher returns. The lower ROA is caused by ANZ s interest bearing assets under performing, or carrying lower risks leading to lower yields, or a greater reliance upon non interest bearing assets. ROE is linked to ROA through the EM. ANZ s 2011 EM was 15.62x, slightly higher than Westpac s 15.35x, suggesting ANZ s assets are funded by more debt than Westpac, this combined with lower returns is usually indicative of a low performing institution (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). Further decomposition leads to analysis of the Expense ratio (ER) and Asset Utilisation (AU). ANZ s overall ER of 4.99% is relatively lower than Westpac s at 5.36% (Appendix A) supporting the earlier conclusion that ANZ s lower ROA is caused by lower earning interest bearing assets rather than an inability to control expenses (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). ANZ s lower ER can be attributed to its considerably lower Interest Expense (IE) percentage, 3.35% compared with Westpac s 4.05% (Appendix A), suggesting that, during ... • 11. Democratic Party Vs. Democratic Parties Since the beginning the United States the its form of government has been considered unique. While it is different from many other forms of government it gives each U.S. citizen the ability to speak their mind on who they believe their country should be governed by and what laws they should be governed under. In making these decisions citizens generally take a side, Republican or Democrat. Republican and Democratic parties are two of the nations oldest political parties however, when they originated the Republican party was the Democratic partythat we have today and the Democratic party was the Conservative party we have today. To put that in simpler terms, the Democratic party were the Confederates in the civil war while the Republican party was the Union. Democrats of that time favored a limited government, supported the idea of manifest destiny, and fought for the continuation of slavery whereas the Republican party of that time opposed slavery, favored government policies such as nation currency, high tariffs, or increased funding on the university system. The switch to the parties we know today is said to have happened gradually between 1872. While the party system today is flipped from the original Democratic and Republican parties it still flows from historic roots but the reasoning s and demographics behind who identifies as Liberal and who identifies as Conservative has advanced. Instead of portraying objective, factual reality, it is biased toward the plight of the Navajo Natives, and designed to invoke sympathy for the Navajo s plight, and righteous indignation within the audience against the corrupt, powerful corporate energy and mining business, and their cronies in Washington D.C. Similarly to popular films, the movie appeals to the Categorical Imperative, an internal sense of justice within the audience. The film narrates a brief history of the Navajo people, and the history of consistent violation of treaties signed between the Navajo and the U.S government, on the part of the government. In the center of the conflict lies the immense abundance of the natural resources that are located on the Navajo land, and the big corporate and governmental machinations, designed to exploit these resources at all costs. The film is filled with dramatic scenes of powerful machinery destroying Navajo s sacred sites, and their very lives, in the name of the corporate financial prosperity. While this allows the internal audit activity to provide value to its organisation, RBIA is a challenging prospect. Most people in the world have a belief or a strong opinion about something in their lives. I have a strong belief about various types of awards that can affect people in different ways. Awards are prizes given to people who have achieved something great or been outstanding in an event. Awards can be given for things such as: achievements in sports, obtaining a high grade point average in school, or even more serious things like the Nobel Prize. Most often, awards are given to people who exceed expectations and go above and beyond the requirements set before them. However, occasionally, awards can be given to entire groups of people for participation alone, even when some of the people in those groups do not deserve an award, which I strongly see as a negative thing.... I presume this because participation awards can cause a recipient feel entitled to be given a tangible reward for simply being involved in an event without necessarily giving any effort or making progress towards achieving a common goal with the rest of the person s group. The final reason why I see participation awards as a bad thing is because they should hold no value to owners because they are too common. • 33. Satire In The Daily Show A short segment follows with a fake political correspondent or commentator exaggerating the issue or mocking the absurdity of a situation. The show concludes with a guest interview either for promotion of a recent work or for discussion on a current political issue. Due to its blended nature as both a comedy and news show, The Daily Show has been able to ignore both news media and comedy conventions, occupying a space that would make most news shows wince and journalists hesitate. Many scholars and media critics debate whether the show is fake news or reliable journalism. Although there are certainly segments that are obviously fake news, the vast majority of The Daily Show is far from the realm of fake news, but also quite distinct from hard news and journalism. There is a significant different between a fake news program and a satirical news program. Satire is a discourse of inquiry that attempts to unravel the morality of issues being discussed.1 Fake news is simply made up and has no basis in fact. Overview of the Book What this book provides is a case study about the effects of nuclear radiation on the environment and the people of Marshall Island. Furthermore, the book addresses the various socio economic issues arising from the testing of nuclear weapons by the US in the Pacific island between 1946 and 1958 (Barker, 2012). The author has gone to great lengths to discuss how the government of the US has evaded moral responsibility for exposing thousands of people to harmful radiations. Using a combination of research, life history, and archival research, Barker has constructed a compelling history of the dangers of the testing program from the perspective of the Marshallese people and their government. Although the US has long... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In total, sixty seven tests were conducted in Marshall Island starting from 1946 until 1958. These tests resulted in devastating effects on the lives of the people of Marshall Island. The environment was also affected adversely because of the radiation. In 1979, the US allowed Marshall Island to become a sovereign nation. However, agreements were signed that allowed the US to continue the island as a missile site. It can be noted that Marshall Island consists of over ten thousand small islands spread over a vast area of the ocean. The US forcefully displaced all the people living in some of the islands to pave the way for the deadly nuclear tests. In one of these tests, the US exploded the most powerful atomic device in its arsenal. So powerful were most of these tests that the ensuing fireballs could be seen with the naked eye from hundreds of miles away. The result was a massive destruction and contamination of the islands in a scale that had never been experienced in any part of the world. Due to the dangers facing the people of the island as a result of the radiations, various linguistic themes were developed. These themes primarily focused on the impact of the tests on the people, their livestock s, ways of life and the environment (Barker, 2012). The fact that a new linguistic system emerged is sufficient proof that the tests had profound effects on the people. For example, the radiations caused cancers and led to ... Recipe management Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that they do not follow. Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in standard estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the wastage caused by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help you to price your food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can price it more accurately to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit. • 40. Narrative Structure Of Memento Time can be a thinker s most thought provoking yet infuriating concept to grasp. Infinitely complex, time plays a crucial role in everyone s life. We do not know much about it, other than that it is there. What is before time or after time? Most movies move through a linear fashion. There is a beginning, middle, and end. Narrativestructure can slightly be bended or modified, but for the most part it follows the same basic formula. The movie Memento (2000), directed by Christopher Nolan, follows Leonard Shelby, the main character with short term memory loss, trying to avenge his fallen spouse. He only remembers up until the time his head was bashed into a mirror after his spouse was sexually assaulted. The movie is told in a unique way through two stories that do not make complete sense until the end. Memento s unconventional narrative structure puts the audience into Leonard s shoes, which is apparent in the movie s convoluted flashbacks, out of sequence story, and bleak ending. One of the most conventional uses of a flashback is to give the viewer some answers through back story. In Memento, the audience is getting information thrown at them, but it is confusing and mysterious. It invites the viewer to ask more questions rather than answer questions. Nolan does this intentionally, so that the audience relates to Leonard s jumbled life. Roger Ebert, a well known film reviewer, wrote One striking element of the film is a series of flashbacks that illuminate, or confuse, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. A History of American Movies in Martin Scorsese’s A... Martin Scorsese s A Personal Journey through American Film is a summary and analysis of the history of American Movies. A legendary filmmaker in his own right, Scorsese highlights not only the hits but also the lesser known but revolutionary titles. His analysis is clearly from a director s point of view, which gives it an interesting and novel perspective. After a brief introduction, Scorsese highlights what he calls the director s dilemma. A good director, he says, is able to balance his or her own vision with that of the producers. This was far more significant in the past, as the director was beholden to the producers. The best filmmakers were able to overcome this obstacle and produce great movies. These days, directors are given significantly more artistic license, and producers do little more than fund the idea and put the team together. The director is a storyteller first, claims Scorsese. He quotes Raoul Walsh: If you haven t got the story, you haven t got anything. Documentary style films were always a secondary to fiction. This has improved as the industry matured, but still holds true today. For better or for worse, a Hollywood director is an entertainer. He is in the business of telling stories, Scorsese tells us. He outlines the birth of the classic American genres, ones that moviegoers take for granted today. Directors, producers, and fans alike love familiar tropes and genres. This strategy, of social involvement by the church has been welcomed by many and has increased positive perception of the church and by extension amplified the impact of the church. But, what is the motivation behind these social involvements of the church. Is it something that they do in order to be more effective and relevant in sharing the gospel? Or is it something they do because it is genetically linked to their faith? In this paper, the writer will argue that in principle, social ministry should not be done as a means to make the church relevant. That is, the motivation behind church based social interventions should not be solely based on being relevant in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, which is to make disciples. The writer proposes that social ministry ought to be a natural outworking of the church. As such, a church cannot be considered authentic if it is not involved in social ministry. Self benefit Motivation If the church is motivated to be socially involved because of the need to make the ministry of church relevant, in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, then the focus is not on the need of the person or community but, rather it is on the church achieving its missional goal. • 54. The Education Of Teacher Development Asehun 1 Senay Asehun Ms. McAlister ENG. 112 21 3 April 2016 Education Every year when the schools close in June, the question on every parent s mind is whether the teacher teaching their child is competent, whether they will inspire them or whether they shall concentrate on their individual needs. The question whether teachers help students in developing the necessary basic skills, think and solve problems and have a good knowledge of what they teach and their students, is important. This is because in the hands of the teacher is where every parent entrusts their children. Though much progress has been made in answering the above stated questions, more work is needed in the improvement of the education sector in America. More parents are required to demand that their children are handled by competent teachers and educationists. Business leaders need to demand the investment in teacher development by schools and show them an example by how they invest in their employees. The law and policy makers need to make the quality of teaching and the recruitment of competent teachers a first priority in their legislations (Thomas, 2002). This proposal is relevant due to the importance of education not only at an individual level but also for the nation as a whole. If the teaching standards remain unchecked, then the quality of education is adversely affected, resulting in a situation where the nation becomes undereducated. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. How To Write A Santa Monica Essay Santa Monica I remember when I first went to the beach for the first time, it was amazing. The good vibes for everyone, how it was so sunny, and the soft smooth breezy that would come from the ocean. Having such a huge, positive, impact with the different smells, taste, and many sounds. To begin with, I ve been to many beaches, but the one that sticks out the most is Santa Monica. You can be a few miles away from the beach and you can smell the salt water. When you get closer to beach the smell gets stronger, like a pinch of green, seaweed. Getting closer we smell the different type of food, hot dogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes, burgers. Many different type of food making my mouth water, and my stomach growl. The pier being overcrowded, smelling the odor of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So many commotion going on all around me, not knowing what to do. We comunited to walk to the end, and you hear a loud fast swish sound, and people screaming. Seeing many different views, and so many different perspectives. From one side you see so many mountains, giving it such a beautiful view. On another side, you see huge building, and pretty big skyscrapers. On Another side you see a row of houses near by, all different color, and shapes. • 56. The Importance Of Education For Public Schools In Diane Ravitch Article she claims that the essentials of a good education is for public schools to keep away from the standard testing because if takes time away from students furthering their knowledge into learning, that not involves math or learning. Ravitch then continues into pointing that the public system doesn t have the best educational learning system, which especially involves minorities like black and Latino students. Ravitch proceeds into say that those types of minorities haven t had any progress, because of the low income neighborhoods they live in. While she argues that low income communities don t have the same resources as private schools. Ravitch is refuting privatized schools as the answer to bridging the gap between the educational scores of middle class whites and low income minorities. Ravitch tells readers, We know what works. What works are the very opportunities that advantaged families provide for their children. In homes with adequate resources, children get advantages that enable them to arrive in school healthy and ready to learn . In contrast, children who are from disadvantaged homes are more likely to experience stress and disruptions to their lives; be homeless; live in dangerous neighborhoods with inadequate housing; have asthma; be exposed to lead; have untreated vision, hearing and dental issues; and have an incarcerated or uneducated parent. They are dragged down by the circumstances into which they were born, through no fault of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Reflection Of Storycorp Interview Introduction This paper will discuss the recent events that have happened in this past week. The results of the personality and values test. How the StoryCorp interview got me closer to my mother. What I learned about the photographic work field in my informational interview. The online programs I plan to use for my 21 day APP project. How I hope this class will help my growth as a person. Summary of Key Findings from Interest, Skills, Values and Personality Surveys I generally try to be kind to others and I greatly enjoy making people laugh. I would like to incorporate humor into my Capstone Project and show the beauty of nature. I want my pictures to make people happy whether it is by laughing or admiring nature. I believe this project will go well with my personality. StoryCorps Interview Reflection Karen, my mother, and I talked about family and religion. My mother is a family based woman, she has become more religious in her age. I asked her what her favorite memories of me were and she brought up events so far in the past I had forgotten them. It was nice to reminisce about events long past and talk about Heaven. We do not normally talk about Heaven so it was nice to hear her thoughts about it. Informational Interview Results The Capstone Project I have chosen does not need a higher education to pursue after. Mr. Dunahee explained that the degree he went in for was not for photography. He had ended up in this work field after a friend paid him to do his wedding shots. Mr. Dunahee told me this after we had finished our interview, I was unsure whether to add it in or not. Photography is a constantly adapting in order to keep up with all the new technology made available. Why pay for a photographer when your phone can handle the job? While I greatly admire the field I do not think it would be a suitable career choice for me. After the interview, Mr. Dunahee encouraged me to join his class to learn more about photography face to face. While the offer is tempting, I fear I do not have time to join his class due to my demanding work schedule. 21 Day APP Project Since my work schedule is very hectic I have chosen to take online class to learn more about photography. I did have a hard time narrowing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 58. Notes On Mergers And Acquisitions Table 1 1 shows the summary of mergers and acquisitions activities in Malaysia for the year of 2011 and 2012. The value of announced mergers and acquisition increase 20.14% from year 2011 to 2012. While the value of completed mergers and acquisitionsin Malaysia increase about 48% from year 2011 to 2012. Based on table 1 1, although not all the announced mergers and acquisitions are completed during a year, the percentage of completed mergers and announcements for both years 2011 and 2012 is more than 70% (2011 = 70.32% and 2012 = 72.77%). This is a good indication to a developing country like Malaysia because more than 70% of announced mergers and acquisitions are completed during a year. The increasing value of mergers and acquisitions over the years has motivated this study to examine whether the mergers and acquisitions activities does provide a fair return to the acquirers companies especially in term of the share prices changes. Therefore, it is important to examine whether there is any abnormal returns around the announcement period. However, if the market is efficient, we should expect the impact of mergers and acquisitions only take place on the day of announcement while the other days around the event windows will not generate significance different in abnormal returns. 1.2 Abnormal Returns from Mergers and ...
