Rama s Journey In The Story Of The Ramayana
The Ramayana is an ancient Sanskrit epic, it s Hindu scriptures and classical Indian epic poems that
are usually written in the early Indic language of India, that follows Prince Rama s journey through
many obstacles. These barriers that he undertook through that expedition includes Rama going into the
village to kill Titans with his mentor Sage Vasishtha, stringing the bow of Shiva, no man is able to
complete this task, and being ostracized for 14 years and live in the forest with Sita and his brother
Lakshmana, and the most stupendous quest that he accomplished was the one that he saved Sita.
While living in the forest, the beautiful Sita captured the eye of a Demon ruler Ravana. Ravana
abducted Sita and Rama rescued her with the help from the monkey king Sugriva. Because she was
captured for one year and sleeping in another man s house, Rama questions Sita s purity and faith. To
prove her chastity, Sita throws herself on a pyre in sorrow and she is spared by the god of fire. This
proves Sita s purity and after that Rama welcome Sita back on his side.
After all this, I must tell you that it is not customary to admit back to the normal married fold a
woman who has resided all alone in a stranger s house. There can be no question of our living together
again. Rama suddenly said this after he defeated Ravana. (Narayan 257) Why did Sita have to prove
herself but not Rama? Even though he lived without her for a year and traveled through many villages
or towns. Is it because

Nietzsche Evil
What is it that makes something good? What is it that makes something evil? These are questions that
were asked by Nietzsche in his work, Beyond Good and Evil. Nietzsche s answers to these questions
were simple; good and evil are ambiguous because they are ultimately subjective. Thus, good and evil
are the same thing; yet at the same time, they are complete opposites. Now, this statement is radically
paradoxical, but I hope to open your mind up to this concept and explain the importance of
recognizing the thin line between good and evil. Everyone s idea of good and evil are dependent on
many things, which is why one person s idea on good and evil cannot be completely relied on. Relying
on one person s interpretation of good and evil leads to total bigotry. One s ... Show more content on

To Nietzsche, good and evil are always subjective, but I believe that there is one thing in this world
full of ambiguity and fogginess that is always good. That thing is the power of human love; and
furthermore expressing that love through unwavering love of our fellow man. Raw human love cannot
possibly be evil. It is the purest, most basic, and most important human emotion to master. If everyone
would just love each other despite our different interpretations of good and evil, the world would be a
much better place. I think that no matter what religion or culture someone is raised in, love of one
another is always regarded as good. Sometimes we all need to be reminded to love our fellow humans
regardless of our religion, political outlook, and ideas of good and evil because they are subjective.
Love exists beyond good and evil. Now let us discuss the counterpart to good; can anything be
inherently evil? Again, Nietzsche would say that nothing is inherently evil, because good and evil are
one in the same, however I once again beg to differ. I believe that the absence of love is the only truly
evil thing in existence. When we forget to love one another,

The cell is the basic unit of life and is the smallest, simplest organism that can perform all of life s
functions. The cell was discovered in 1665 by Robert Hooke. The three types of cells are plant cells,
animal cells, and prokaryotic cells. These cells share many qualities but are also different in many
ways.
There are a few organelles that exist in all three types of cells. The first of these is the cell membrane
(also known as the plasma membrane). The plasma membrane is the outer boundary of the cell that
protects the cell from its surroundings. It is selectively permeable because it controls what enters and
exits the cell. Carl Naegeli and C. Cramer discovered the plasma membrane in 1855. The cytosol is
also present in the Plant, Animal, and Prokaryotic cells. The cytosol is the thick, gelatin like liquid in
the cell that accounts for almost 70% of its volume. The cytosol of a cell is the substance in which the
organelles are suspended and it provides the proper conditions for their function and movement. The
cytosol was discovered by Albert Claude, Christian de Duve, and George E. Palade in 1835. A third
structure contained in all three types of cells is the ribosome. Ribosomes are spherical in shape and are
made up of RNA and protein. They are often found on the endoplasmic reticulum. Ribosomes are
important in the manufacturing of proteins and are the site at

Evidence has shown that Stalin was not a savior to Russia...
Evidence has shown that Stalin was not a savior to Russia by creating economic policies to help with
the agriculture and also modernized Russia. Stalin s plan was to make Russia an industrial giant, so
Stalin created the five year plan to work on the farms and factories of Russia. Stalin s five year plans
were a series of nation wide centralized economic plans in the Soviet Union (Wikipedia). What that
meant was that peasants who didn t have jobs were required to work on a specific goal that Stalin had
to increase what was considered as an economy booster. The first Five Year Plan introduced in 1928,
concentrated on the development of iron and steel, machine tools, electric power and transport. Joseph
Stalin set the workers high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oftentimes, factories inflated their production figures, and the products created were too low in
quality to be used (Trueman). What this meant is that some of the goals were not made and the
products made were useless to sell or trade with. The Third Five Year Plan lasted for only three years,
as it was interrupted by Germany s declaration of war on the Soviet Union during World War II. As
war seemed imminent, this plan focused on the production of weapons and other wartime materials
(Trueman). The Soviet Union mainly contributed resources to the development of weapons, and
constructed additional military factories as needed. Stalin continued to use additional Five Year Plans
in the years following WWII, in an attempt keep his promise in 1945 to make the Soviet Union the
leading industrial power by 1960. By 1952, industrial production was nearly double the 1941 level.
Stalin s Five Year Plans helped transform the Soviet Union from an untrained society of peasants to an
advanced industrial economy. So through out this plan of hopefully saving Russia that Stalin has
created products that could not be used and unintelligent citizens who were only trained to only do
only one skill. Stalin also murdered citizens who spoke against his idea and called the Great Purge.
The Great Purge was a series of campaigns of persecution and political repression orchestrated by
Stalin Joseph from 1936 to 1938 in the Soviet Union. It included a large scale purge of the

The Importance Of Animated Dental Videos
The Importance of Animated Dental Videos
Right now animated dental videos are what s trending in the web world. The reason is that most
consumers are used to seeing these kinds of videos. Animated videos have an informal and friendly
nature that allows people to let their guards down. This allows you to express your marketing message
without as much resistance. We are seeing 3D animations creep up in popularity in the marketing of
dental products. The tv was one of the first to use animation for commercials for toothbrushes and
toothpaste. Now you can popularly see dental care commercials that show animated evil plaques being
terminated by heroic toothpaste particles.
Another valid point to why our animated dental videos are in high need is because nobody wants to
look in somebody else s mouth. It comes from the eighties where 2D was at its peak than in the
nineties it was replaced with 3D and is here now. Today you would practically be a mediocre dentist if
you can not show your 12 year old patient a beautiful 3D animation of her braces in your initial
consult. We specialize in making the procedures look pretty and simple. We keep in mind how to
appeal to your future patients and current ones through flattering camera angles, keeping things
moving and up to pace as well as keeping the colors sweet and soft.

The Cause And Effects Of The Mini Ice Age
The mini ice age, or Little Ice Age (LIA), was a period of time characterized by a decrease in
temperatures worldwide. Although there are no definite times for the start and end of the Little Ice
Age, it is generally accepted that it occurred from approximately 1300 CE to 1850 CE. The coldest
stage of this time lasted from around 1645 to 1715. Also, the expansion of mountain glaciers in several
locations was a distinctive feature of the Little Ice Age. The event had various effects and its origins
are disputable. Several causes of the Little Ice Age have been proposed. One of them describes a
decrease in sunspot activity, or times when dark spots form on the sun due to low temperatures. The
lack of sunspots during the LIA is known as the Maunder Minimum. Since it appeared to occur
concurrently with the coldest part of the ice age, from 1645 to 1715, it was considered a plausible
reason to explain the Little Ice Age. However, this theory has its flaws, because modeled simulations
point to the idea that temperatures would ve dropped to a maximum of 0.4ºC, when the world saw
actual decreases of 1 2ºC. Furthermore, the Little Ice Age started before the Maunder Minimum
happened, so additional information is needed to explain the original cause of the LIA.
Another idea for the catalyst of the Little Ice Age involves the North Atlantic Oscillation
(NAO), a circulation of atmospheric pressure in North America and northern Europe. Typical, or
positive NAO is shown when a

How Did Steel Change Society
Steel has done many incredible things and taken mankind further than we could have ever dreamed. It
is used in almost every metal object that we Americans use on a daily basis, and it would be almost
impossible to find one without it. Not only that, but steel is also used in many other things throughout
America that would not be possible without it. The development of steel was a revolutionary pivotal
point in the history of the United States, because it is involved in the creation of steel appliances and
objects, buildings and skyscrapers, and the railroad, which was the backbone of early America. To
know how steel impacted the world and changed society for the better, you must first know the history
of it and how it came to be. Steel is an alloy of iron mixed with primarily carbon and a small amount
of other tiny elements. It dates back to have been created almost 4000 years ago ... Show more content

After that, steel was used more than iron, bronze, and copper, because it was cheaper to make and it
worked a lot more efficiently than any of the past metals ever did ( History ).
Andrew Carnegie, who was an American immigrant from Scotland, brought about the explosion of
steel ( Andrew Carnegie ). He was one of the key players that led way for the industrialization for
America as we know it. One could tell that steel was so important, because he became one of the
richest men to ever step foot in America back in his time, solely because of this product. Carnegie
started out as a telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad and eventually worked his way up in
that corporation and became a superintendent. Carnegie s boss taught him how to invest in shares of
stocks. and he started to learn about the stock market and develop a wide variety of business interests.
He also learned the importance of networking and understood that if you wanted to get anywhere in
the steel industry, or any industry for that matter, you must

typically older men and women, many of whom are foreigners who cannot speak English. One of

Why Fear Plays From The World Of Bull Riding Or Motorcycle...
The mental game; every athlete must play the mental game and it s especially prevalent within the
world of bull riding or motorcycle racing. When I ponder my days of riding bulls (for a short period)
and now racing motorcycles, the one key emotion that sticks out like a broken bone from an arm after
a bad crash is most certainly fear. With these two sports, fear is the prevailing emotion that the athletes
feed off of and at times, attempt to suppress and control. It s key to understand why fear plays such a
major role when looking at these sports objectively. Think about what might happen. The
repercussions range from some bruises and broken bones to death and permanent disfigurement. So it
is very natural for the athlete to have to deal with the fear of what might go wrong . There are
countless times that when it came time for me to slide onto my bull, fear would completely
overwhelm me. I was not just forced, but completely pushed into a middle state of panic. All of a
sudden my vision narrowed, my breathing became very quick and my pulse could be felt in my
temples; racing well over 100 beats per minute. Because of this reaction to fear I usually walked away
defeated because I was unable function; I was frozen. It must be understood that fear is a very natural
reaction as the human brain tends to want to preserve itself. However, fear can often hold athletes like
bull riders or motorcycle races back because we forget the task at hand: doing the very best we

The Victorian period formally begins in 1837 and ends in 1901. The Victorian era was from 1832
1901, which was a period of dramatic change in the world over, and especially in England. with the
rapid extension of colonialism through large portions of Africa, Asia, and the West Indies, making
England a prominent center of world power and relocating the perceived center of Western
Civilization from Paris to London. The population of London, exceeded from 2 million to 6.5 million
during the Victorian era. This era evidenced a marked change due to industrialization away from a
way of life based on the ownership of land to a modern urban economy based on trade and
manufacturing.
The church had the significant impact on people s life during the Renaissance. If we want to compare
between the literature during the two periods, Victorian era and Renaissance we can see that the style
of writers by writing their books, novels and theaters were different. In Victorian era Lord Tennyson
(1809 1892) one of the most important and representative voices of this changing age of this era. As
Poet Tennyson until his death, he gave voice to the sentiments of his time in carefully crafted narrative
poetry. While in renaissance era Shakespeare got the prominent place in English

The Global Consumption Of Energy
Introduction The 21st century can be named as the energy century because the global consumption of
energy is ever expanding and our ever increasing consumption of energy has led to serious
environmental problems. For instance Global warming is majorly attributed to our high energy intake.
So, if we continue with this irresponsible pattern of energy consumption, our future will no longer be
sustainable. Hence, managing and optimizing all the available resources has become a necessity when
all the available resources is beginning to drain out rapidly. Laws governing all the natural resources
both renewable and non renewable resources has a major say in how people make use of the energy
available. Government plays a major role in framing these policies. Therefore, it is important that the
regulating bodies are pro active and should vision out the future before making any provisions.
Moreover the end users of electricity faces many problems due to power cuts, erratic voltage,
unscheduled or scheduled load shedding etc. This disturbs the normal functioning of industries,
commercial institutions and households etc. This problem could be because the power generation
capacity is inadequate, the generated electricity is not utilised optimally, flaws in transmission and
distribution, theft, inefficient usage by end customers etc. In order to solve all these menace, concrete
laws and efficient management has become undoubtedly important.

Urinary Incontinence Assessment
Understanding Types of Urinary Incontinence, Assessments and Appropriate Intervention
Urinary incontinence (UI) can be defined as, involuntary leakage of urine to a degree that it is
troubling to a person (Mauk, p. 545). Not only it is a common problem for the elderly, which has a
tremendous impact on their quality of life, it is also a common health problems that affects more than
17 millions of Americans (Testa, p. 82). Even though urinary incontinence is a common problem for
the senior it is not a normal part of the aging process, however vast majority of people still does not

It is essential for the nurse to have a proper and detailed assessment to determine the most likely cause
or type of UI. One of the most basic and least invasive assessment a nurse can do is to obtain a
complete history. A complete history must asked questions such as onset and duration, aggravating
factors, characteristics, medical history (medical conditions and medications), associated symptoms,
attempted treatments and severity (Testa, p. 83). There are also different tools that a nurse can use
such as the Urogenital Inventory/ Incontinence Impact Questionnaire and Bladder Diary. Using
questionnaires and bladder diary can be used in order to facilitate data gathering for people who have
difficulty discussing incontinence face to face. Thorough history can provide insight and help identify
potentially reversible causative factors and contributing risk factors related to UI (Mauk, p. 553). It is
also important to have a detailed physical assessment, which focused on genitourinary system,
abdominal, rectal and neurologic system, in order to determine the pathophysiology of voiding
problems. If the nurse suspects any cognitive impairment from the initial assessment Mini Mental
State Examination, Mini Cog, and/or Confusion Assessment Method can be used to determine the
severity of the cognitive impairment. It also alerts the healthcare provider for the patient increased
risked for constant incontinence and it also determines the appropriate interventions. Having a

Wal Mart Is A Key Customer For Any Consumer Brand Essay
There is no doubt that Wal Mart is a key customer for any consumer brand. And keeping a
strategically long term relationship with a retailer giant like Wal Mart is inevitable, yet balancing sales
with plenty of others is vital to a brand s health. P G has to find ways to reduce its dependence on
these retailers. This is the strategy that P G is using today, focusing on its core products and distinctive
capabilities to serve those high end segments. P G also faces competition from Wal Mart s private
brands. The retailer has been very aggressive in recent years in offering private brands. (Cravens

Compare and Contrast Old and New Imperialism Essay
Compare and Contrast old and new imperialism
New Imperialism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries compared to Old Imperialism of the 16th
and 17th centuries. Imperialism is the spread of control over territories across the globe. The Industrial
Revolution and interests in nationalism created a new period of imperialism around 1750. Old
imperialism lasted from 1450 1750, but imperialism alone remained until 1914.Old imperialism and
new imperialism shared the same basic concept of controlling and utilizing foreign countries. Old
imperialism focused mainly on systems of trade while new imperialism took bolder steps to

This led to a focus on a trading system because Europeans didn t want to take on territorial
responsibilities. During the Old imperialism era, Europeans set up trading posts, ports, and docks.
These trading centers benefited the places the mother country was supplying too. They had objectives
to protect their trading centers in native places and none to obtain territories in them. Europe s trade
within and between native lands led to cultural diversity which may have caused a small breach in
unity. However, the old Imperialism era ended due to high costs in taking over territories and too
much time to supply the mother country. There was no time to build up a superior, organized, skilled
army for anyone. Also, due to the Industrial Revolution there was now a faster more efficient way to
create and manufacture products. Throughout Western Europe, political authority was completely
controlled by central governments, while leaders, such as Isabela I, were busy with the concept of how
to increase the power of the state. National wealth was widely viewed as the groundwork of national
power, governmental controls soon dominated nearly all of the state s domestic economy.
The start of Old Imperialism was based on the military and naval power and the underlining motive
was essentially capitalistic. It began with sea explorations of the Spanish and Portuguese in the second
half of the 15th century. Prince Henry the

The Intolerable Acts were just as bad as they sound: a combination of multiple acts also called the
Coercive Acts which is a pretty generous euphemism considering the Acts were harsh. A few of these
acts included: The Quartering Act allowed soldiers to enter a family s house without means, which
made people feel deprived of certain rights they felt they deserved (Pavao). The Massachusetts Act
does not seem awful on the surface, but the intention of the act was to limit the people of
Massachusetts independence. The King shut down ports in the Boston Port Act, which makes sense
considering the amount of tea wasted in the Boston Tea Party. The Quebec Act limited the colonists
attempts to western expansion by expanding French land ( Quebec ). The Administration of Justice

Britain, where they were practically allowed to get away with anything. This angered the colonists

Human Sexual promiscuity has been around since the existence of Human Beings. To clearly

The Effects Of Alcoholism On The World Health Organization
Introduction
People in Australia are among the most prolific alcohol drinkers in the world according to the World
Health Organisation s report published in 2014. Australians over the age of 15 drink in average of 12.2
litres per capita per year which puts us at quite at a high level by world standards, even more than the
Britons (11.6 litres) and the Americans (9.2 litres) respectively.
Australians take pride in its drinking culture reputation and accept it as a social norm; not
acknowledging the harm it could cause. As opposed to the using of illegal drugs directly governed by
law to maintain social order, alcoholism is still considered more of a personal behaviour problem, and
therefore, is only considered as a personal responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cultural functions of alcohol consumptions then will be explored; and lastly, alcoholism as a
social problem that causes dysfunction and social disorganisation/disorder will be discussed.
Discussion
A social problem can be defined as some conditions or set of events or group of persons that is
undesirable/unfavourable (that violate certain values or beliefs about how a society should function) to
a significant proportion of population (Mooney, Knox, Schacht, 2000).
The structural functional perspective is mainly based on the Herbert Spencer s, Emile Durkheim s,
Talcott Parsons and Robert Menton s works. These theories view society as interrelated and
interconnected parts of a system that work harmoniously to maintain a state of balance as a whole, and
focuses on how each part influences and be influenced by the other parts. Beliefs, culture, structure,
function and adaptations are the key elements that need to be maintained to achieve social order.
Society becomes dysfunctional when these elements of society disrupt social stability (Mooney et al.,
2000, p. 10). While the culture of consuming alcohol should have functioned as a social part of

Celebrities In Modern America
In the modern America, there are many celebrities who are very popular of their own fame, but not
famous for their skills on their industries. To list the famous celebrities: Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber,
and Kim Kardashian. These three celebrities are very popular for being famous on TVs that fame
could come from bad or good images. They are well known for their lack of personalities than their
achievements in the celebrity lives. For an example, Justin Bieber has many male anti fans who hates
him for his personalities or lack of musical skills, and maybe some are just jealous of Justin s fame
because he got popular so quickly on the internet. These ideas go same as the other two celebrities that
I mentioned, yet, Kim and Paris are also well known for the leaked sex tapes that issued the whole
world because they have the attractive physical bodies that everyone looks for when looking at a
female celebrity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For another example, Kim is like a spoiled child who would make a fuss over a little thing that she
cannot obtain. Paris seems to be a woman with overly self confidence, who objectifies the men as the
sexual object to satisfy her lust. If these actions were occurred by the male celebrities, then they could
have many down side of their lives, but, for Kim and Paris, there could be some bad consequences,
rather yet, it would soon to be another step up for their fame. According to these issues, the modern
America media focus on being the hot issues and being famous, but the media started to show the bad
actions as just a comedy that will help the celebrities to get more attention; even when the actions

Essay on The Gospel of Wealth, by Andrew Carnegie
In the Gospel of wealth , Andrew Carnegie argues that it is the duty of the wealthy entrepreneur who
has amassed a great fortune during their lifetime, to give back to those less fortunate. Greed and
selfishness may force some readers to see these arguments as preposterous; however, greed is a key
ingredient in successful competition. It forces competitors to perform at a higher level than their peers
in hopes of obtaining more money and individual wealth. A capitalist society that allows this wealth to
accumulate in the hands of the few might be beneficial to the human race because it could promote
competition between companies; it might ensure health care for everyone no matter their social
standing, and parks and recreation could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company might benefit because it will be able to reinvest the profit and continue making
affordable items, possibly forcing their competition out of business. When Carnegie speaks about
individualism, private property, the law of accumulation of wealth, and the law of competition, he says
for these are the highest results of human experience, the soil in which society has so far produced the
best fruit (395). Social classes have different standards of living. By properly administering wealth,
Carnegie becomes the trustee of his poorer brethren s funds. He believes the wealthy man, with his
superior knowledge and experience in financial matters, is better suited to administer these funds.
Carnegie says he would be doing for them better than they would or could for themselves (399). A
wealthy person could buy a few acres of land, build a hospital, and create a hundred jobs in the
hospital while creating affordable or free health care. The wealthy do not have to worry about how
much it would cost if they were diagnosed with pneumonia. They simply take the diagnosis, pay for
the treatment, and move on with their lives. A diagnosis of the same magnitude to a poor person could
be life threatening. When Carnegie talks about
Morris 3 doing better for them that they could or would do for themselves, he touches on two points.
The obvious being could , meaning they cannot afford to

Compare And Contrast Odysseus And The Nostos
Nostos in its most simple form, means a heroes homecoming. It is a common theme used in ancient
Greek literary works. Homecoming is a great deal to heroes in the ancient epics, as it is the final step
to claiming their kleos (glory). Homer uses this as his main theme in his epic poem the Odyssey, as it
shows the main character Odysseus yearning to return home to Ithaca after twenty years of being
away. The poem portrays Odysseus journey home, however, during his journey he is constantly driven
off course. After ten years, with the help of his main protector, the goddess Athena, Odysseus finally
makes it back home to Ithaca where he reclaims his identity. Later in 19BC, Vergil who was a roman
poet, uses nostos as one of the themes in his epic poem the Aeneid. The poem portrays the main
character Aeneas as a dutiful hero, who has to flee his home, Troy, and is destined to found Rome
(Verg. Aen.1.1). Odysseus and Aeneas nostos are both similar in the sense that they encounter some of
the same sights, they leave behind woman in order to continue on with their journey and they deal
with supernatural forces. On the contrary, the two heroes are completely different in their motivation.
Aeneas reason for his journey is due to his destiny and duty to establish home for his people.
Odysseus, on the other hand has different reasons as to why he longs to return home. Firstly, he wishes
to return to his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus. Secondly, he tries to attain his

Streaming Media and Netflix
Netflix is an American company that provides video rental and on demand video streaming by way of
either the mail or streaming through the internet. The company was founded in 1997 in Silicon Valley
California by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings. The idea for this DVD rental service came about
when Reed Hastings was charged with a late fee when renting a movie and he questioned why he
should have a time restriction on how long he is able to rent the movie. In April of 1998, the Netflix
website was launched and they developed the concept of unlimited rentals with no shipping fees or
late fees. In September of 2002, an article in The New York Times article stated that Netflix had

Instead, three weeks later, an announcement was made that Netflix had changed their mind. They
decided to go back on what they said and decided they were going to keep all their services under the
one same name that everyone was already familiar with after all. Steve Swasey, a representative for
the company was quoted saying, We underestimated the appeal of the single Web site and a single
service. This ended the creation of the idea of Qwikster but because of the confusing almost name
change that was soon reversed and the raised prices they lost close to 800,000 fewer subscribers. This
number of lost customers came to a shock to almost everyone. This was the first significant decline
the company experienced and is a clear example of a company making a decision without considering
the public s interest and opinions causing a significant have an impact on their profits. Netflix is just
one example of the impact of technology on American family life. Subscribers to Netflix can now
video stream movies to their computers and television with one click. This shifts consumers from
looking outside the home for entertainment to becoming more insular in their hobbies. A recent article
in the New York times cited how the former digital divide is closing and more poor American families
are wired to use technology. This means that these families like the more affluent ones are spending

The Rhode Island Pension Reform Background There are over a million residents living in Rhode
Island between the ages of 21 to 65. The majority of the Rhode Island population is not employed by
the state nor does an individual concern oneself with state issues (Randazzo, 2013). The Employee
Retirement System of Rhode Island (ERSRI) was originated to cover state employees and teacher s
retirement, disability, survivor, and death benefits (Randazzo, 2013). In 1987 and 1989, the State

RECONSTRUCTING MEANING THROUGH EMBODIMENT 2
It was previously thought that once you complete the stages of grieving it eventually
comes to an end. However, new research has shown that it is in fact a life long process.
According to newer approaches to bereavement, the Dual Process Model (DPM) can help to
better understand the process of grief. Research done by Strobe and Schut (1999, 2001) on the

emotions (Lister et. al, 2008, p. 248). The role of the art therapist is not to prohibit the
expression of negative emotions, but to help hold the space and contain these emotions in a safe
environment. Exploring emotions can not only be cathartic, but over time the exploration
through art making can help to reframe these emotions into something that is easier to carry.
In facilitating an art therapy group with adults who are bereaved and grieving, it was
apparent that art making allowed for exploration of both loss orientation an restoration
orientation. For the first session, the theme was around strength and groundedness. The group
began with the question of how do the adults define strength and groundedness in daily life and
closed with the poem Advice from a Tree (Shamir, 2016). The directive was kept fairly simple
and open ended, and the adults were instructed to trace their hand in any way to create a tree

Shooting An Elephant By George Orwell
Shooting an Elephant The short story Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell describes Orwell s
experience as a police officer of a town in the British colony of Burma. George Orwell, a military
occupier in the Burmese land is much hated by the civilians. The hatred he receives from the locals
makes him despise the British Empires mistreatment on the Burmese people. However, he also resents
the locals in the village for revolting against him, for he is only a worker of the British Empire.
Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell discusses the author s views and experience on peer pressure
through the structure, quality, and applicability of the information shared. The incident that took place
was when a domesticated elephant escaped from its chains, and was causing harm to the villagers and
their property. The mahout a caretaker of the elephant went searching towards a different route which
happened to be 12 hours away; the only solution in stopping this berserk elephant was by shooting it.
George Orwell, the police officer who works in Moulmein, Burma was conflicted upon shooting or
not shooting at the elephant. Orwell felt pressured by the villagers when confronting the elephant. As
he walked towards the field, a large sum of the village was following close by. The villagers felt a
wave of excitement as they saw the gun in Orwell s hand; to witness the killing of the elephant was
seen as a joyous celebration in their eyes. The villager s excitement in witnessing the

The Truth Of The Bible
Question 9 I believe the time isn t relevant as far as wear I will spend eternity, four there s two ways of
that can happen. First of all, nobody is immune to die at any point in time for went is your time to go
you have no control over it. Second of all, Jesus can come anytime. Therefore, if either of these events
happens, eternity awaits. Are used to think that the younger you are the least you need to worry about
these two events happening. On the contrary, the acknowledgment that Jesus is the only way and the
one hole redeemed us is now, not later, not when you feel like it, the time is now.
Question 10 I believe that the main source of truth is the Bible. On the other hand, God is an infinite
God, and if he chooses any other means for you to find truth, you will find it, weather if it is through
dreams or through other Scriptures. However, God can choose to reveal himself outside of
Christianity. I have heard that throughout the Muslim faith several have come to know Jesus through
their own scripture, the Quran. In addition, others have begun to believe in Jesus through dreams.
Perhaps, God can choose any means to reveal himself. I do not know why there are so many different
religions; perhaps, this is what makes us different from each other. Not everybody thinks the same
way. I also believe that there is an accuser who hates humankind and doesn t want humanity to see

College Is A Waste Of Time And Money
The amount of money spent on one year alone of college can break someone s heart. For most people
college gets them to where they want to be, but with hard work and dedication going to work right
after high school can take you a long way. Getting out of high school and starting a career early might
be what some people want, but college is always an option with all the help they have today. College
is a waste of time and money for a couple reasons. The fact that you spend 13 years in school just to
go on to most likely spend four more years at some sort of college makes some kids think when it
comes to should I go to college or not. Some kids believe that you can make more money working
right after high school then heading to college for four years. Statistics say in College is a Waste of
Time and Money by Caroline Bird, that if you put in the money you would have spent on college in
the bank and let the interest alone build it up; by the time you are ready to retire you will have an extra
$199,000. Although no bank will give a student that kind of money to put into a savings account that
number opens a student s eyes. With that said, you will be completely debt free if you choose to go
into the work force directly after high school. In 2015 on average a student was in debt $35,000 after
just one year. MarketWatch. N.p. Web. 26 Oct. 2016. That adds up to being around $140,000 after the

Today medical images are widely used. To achieve a clear and noise free images Image segmentation
is essential point. In this paper a new image segmentation method that is proportion of foreground to
background is used also called PFB. Using this method on human brain image we experiment the
result that the number of iteration steps for the threshold T is reduced. Using this method over
segmentation and discontinuities also can be avoided. Finally proposed a new method using both
Thresholding image segmentation and edge detection segmentation algorithm based on the Proportion
of Foreground to Background. After this the basic principal is define in this paper. Proportion of
Foreground to Background Algorithm combine the traditional iterative algorithm. Anita Khanna, Dr.
Manish Shrivastva(2012) In their paper they used unsupervised technique of segmentation which is
simple and give satisfactory result. We use Ultrasound (US) images and apply unsupervised
segmentation technique. There is a problem to segment Ultrasound image because of low contrast and
high speckle noise. In this paper we use different unsupervised technique like Thresholding; k means
cluster technique and expectation maximization and compare all the result. Ultrasound images are
texture feature image and expectation maximization (EM) technique gives best result of segmentation.

The World Is Absurd And The Human Existence Of The United...
Jean Paul Sartre was an existentialist born in France in the early 1900s. He was a philosopher,
novelist, and teacher who was heavily influenced by the acts of World War II. Some of his major
philosophical works included Being and Nothingness and Consciousness. His works revolved around
the human existence in the world. Some of his ideas could have a significant impact on education in
the United States, but most are not relevant in today s society because of the very nature of public
education in the United States. One of Sartre s major ideas is that the world is absurd and the human is
a lonely individual in this world. He believed that our existence had no meaning. Because there is no
meaning attached to human existence, it is up to the human to create meaning. Therefore, there is
nothing to stand in the way of a person making whatever they want out of their life and becoming
anything they want. One of the foundations of the United States of America is that it is the Land of
Opportunity, implying that a person can come to the United States and make a life for him or herself.
So a modern United States education should be based on this idea and provide the platform for a
student to become what they want. The reality is we teach the majority of students the same, in
essence taking away that individuality that needs to be allowed for a person to become what they
want. In the modern classroom, things should look very different from what we are used to. In such a

Bo Jackson Epic Hero Essay
Bo Jackson is a former athlete recognized across the country. His time in the NFL and MLB was short
compared to most athletes. An injury he sustained while in a game as the result of a tackle was what

baseball he was recognised for his incredible speed, strength and ability. Bo Jackson still is not in
either hall of fame for reason of his short run in either sport. While no longer being widely recognized
he has some characteristics of an epic hero that make him exceptional. Bo Jackson s ability in football
was first recognized in highschool. He captured the attention of many schools and coaches for his
strength and speed. He has stories of doing incredible, unbelievable things that follow his name. This
characteristic is equal to that of an epic heros . Bo Jackson was capable of almost inhuman feats. His

Alternatives
1. Do nothing. There is not much of a pro to this solution, because by doing no sort of action will
either result in the business failing and closing down, or that could cost the marketing senior vice
president her position. 2. Reward Program for businesses. By instituting a reward program with
businesses, it will allow business travelers to stay at the hotel for a discounted price for Sunday
through Thursday lodging through his or her place of employment. Instead of attempting to find the
best rate. The company knows that when an employee goes to this city, he or she will stay at the
Amber Inn and the company books it for the employee. This will increase the business traveler base,
which is already predominant. However, this will decrease the overall revenues for the organization. 3.
Increase weekend prices. By increasing lodging prices on the weekends, it will not harm the business
traveler base, and increase profits for the personal and vacation/pleasure areas. This could adversely
affect the number of guests staying at the hotel on the weekends and drive the weekend revenue
stream down. 4. Increase average daily room rate to be more toward industry average. Since the

travelers had the rooms paid for by the

Nagel s Cosmological Argument For The Existence Of God
The actuality of a divine being the cause of our existence is a topic that has been debated by
philosophers for centuries. To this day there is no clear answer as both sides of the argument give
reasons to refute the opposing side s arguments. Ernest Nagel is a well known philosopher as he is
recognized for his works against theism and for supporting atheism in his literary works. In Nagel s A
Defense Of Atheism he criticizes the theistic arguments that claim a god is overseeing our world. The
ontological, cosmological and teleological arguments are known as the classical arguments for theism.
Nagel swiftly pokes many holes in these arguments and runs them to the ground. Besides attacking the
flaws in these arguments, Nagel also brings up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out of the three arguments, these two are the weakest for simple logic can quickly subside them.
Nagel supplies this logic for diminishing these arguments in his analysis of both arguments. He first
attacks the cosmological argument which claims that only God could be the cause of the existence of
earth and that God is self caused. However, Nagel claims that earth could have easily existed forever
and that if God is self caused than the earth itself just as easily can be self caused also as he states but
if God can be self caused, why cannot the world itself be self caused? (A Defense of Atheism 87).
Secondly, Nagel belittles the ontological argument which claims that God must exist because he is
perfect and that anything perfect must exist by definition. Which sounds vague and Nagel points this
out by claiming that the existence of an object makes no difference by how we formulate them. The
well known philosopher Immanuel Kant also had a great appeal by claiming that ...it is just a
confusion to say that existence is an attribute, and that though the word existence may occur as the
grammatical predicate in a sentence, no attribute is being predicated of a thing when we say that the
thing exists or has existence. (A Defense of Atheism 88) Excluding Nagel and Kant s logical
explanations against these arguments, I also have my doubts as these two arguments seem to take an
ignorant stance. It seems as if the creators of these arguments are stubborn children who believe God
has to exist because there is no other possible explanation. However Modern day technology and
science also decimates these two arguments as there is new scientific evidence that the earth has been
in existence millions of years before the bible. However, the third argument known as the teleological
argument makes much more logical sense and relies on empirical evidence which gives it

  • 2. Rama s Journey In The Story Of The Ramayana The Ramayana is an ancient Sanskrit epic, it s Hindu scriptures and classical Indian epic poems that are usually written in the early Indic language of India, that follows Prince Rama s journey through many obstacles. These barriers that he undertook through that expedition includes Rama going into the village to kill Titans with his mentor Sage Vasishtha, stringing the bow of Shiva, no man is able to complete this task, and being ostracized for 14 years and live in the forest with Sita and his brother Lakshmana, and the most stupendous quest that he accomplished was the one that he saved Sita. While living in the forest, the beautiful Sita captured the eye of a Demon ruler Ravana. Ravana abducted Sita and Rama rescued her with the help from the monkey king Sugriva. Because she was captured for one year and sleeping in another man s house, Rama questions Sita s purity and faith. To prove her chastity, Sita throws herself on a pyre in sorrow and she is spared by the god of fire. This proves Sita s purity and after that Rama welcome Sita back on his side. After all this, I must tell you that it is not customary to admit back to the normal married fold a woman who has resided all alone in a stranger s house. There can be no question of our living together again. Rama suddenly said this after he defeated Ravana. (Narayan 257) Why did Sita have to prove herself but not Rama? Even though he lived without her for a year and traveled through many villages or towns. Is it because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nietzsche Evil What is it that makes something good? What is it that makes something evil? These are questions that were asked by Nietzsche in his work, Beyond Good and Evil. Nietzsche s answers to these questions were simple; good and evil are ambiguous because they are ultimately subjective. Thus, good and evil are the same thing; yet at the same time, they are complete opposites. Now, this statement is radically paradoxical, but I hope to open your mind up to this concept and explain the importance of recognizing the thin line between good and evil. Everyone s idea of good and evil are dependent on many things, which is why one person s idea on good and evil cannot be completely relied on. Relying on one person s interpretation of good and evil leads to total bigotry. One s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Nietzsche, good and evil are always subjective, but I believe that there is one thing in this world full of ambiguity and fogginess that is always good. That thing is the power of human love; and furthermore expressing that love through unwavering love of our fellow man. Raw human love cannot possibly be evil. It is the purest, most basic, and most important human emotion to master. If everyone would just love each other despite our different interpretations of good and evil, the world would be a much better place. I think that no matter what religion or culture someone is raised in, love of one another is always regarded as good. Sometimes we all need to be reminded to love our fellow humans regardless of our religion, political outlook, and ideas of good and evil because they are subjective. Love exists beyond good and evil. Now let us discuss the counterpart to good; can anything be inherently evil? Again, Nietzsche would say that nothing is inherently evil, because good and evil are one in the same, however I once again beg to differ. I believe that the absence of love is the only truly evil thing in existence. When we forget to love one another, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Pre Ap Biology Research Paper Hannah Porter Mr. Condo Pre AP Bio 1 November 4, 2014 Pre Ap Biology Research Paper The cell is the basic unit of life and is the smallest, simplest organism that can perform all of life s functions. The cell was discovered in 1665 by Robert Hooke. The three types of cells are plant cells, animal cells, and prokaryotic cells. These cells share many qualities but are also different in many ways. There are a few organelles that exist in all three types of cells. The first of these is the cell membrane (also known as the plasma membrane). The plasma membrane is the outer boundary of the cell that protects the cell from its surroundings. It is selectively permeable because it controls what enters and exits the cell. Carl Naegeli and C. Cramer discovered the plasma membrane in 1855. The cytosol is also present in the Plant, Animal, and Prokaryotic cells. The cytosol is the thick, gelatin like liquid in the cell that accounts for almost 70% of its volume. The cytosol of a cell is the substance in which the organelles are suspended and it provides the proper conditions for their function and movement. The cytosol was discovered by Albert Claude, Christian de Duve, and George E. Palade in 1835. A third structure contained in all three types of cells is the ribosome. Ribosomes are spherical in shape and are made up of RNA and protein. They are often found on the endoplasmic reticulum. Ribosomes are important in the manufacturing of proteins and are the site at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Evidence has shown that Stalin was not a savior to Russia... Evidence has shown that Stalin was not a savior to Russia by creating economic policies to help with the agriculture and also modernized Russia. Stalin s plan was to make Russia an industrial giant, so Stalin created the five year plan to work on the farms and factories of Russia. Stalin s five year plans were a series of nation wide centralized economic plans in the Soviet Union (Wikipedia). What that meant was that peasants who didn t have jobs were required to work on a specific goal that Stalin had to increase what was considered as an economy booster. The first Five Year Plan introduced in 1928, concentrated on the development of iron and steel, machine tools, electric power and transport. Joseph Stalin set the workers high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oftentimes, factories inflated their production figures, and the products created were too low in quality to be used (Trueman). What this meant is that some of the goals were not made and the products made were useless to sell or trade with. The Third Five Year Plan lasted for only three years, as it was interrupted by Germany s declaration of war on the Soviet Union during World War II. As war seemed imminent, this plan focused on the production of weapons and other wartime materials (Trueman). The Soviet Union mainly contributed resources to the development of weapons, and constructed additional military factories as needed. Stalin continued to use additional Five Year Plans in the years following WWII, in an attempt keep his promise in 1945 to make the Soviet Union the leading industrial power by 1960. By 1952, industrial production was nearly double the 1941 level. Stalin s Five Year Plans helped transform the Soviet Union from an untrained society of peasants to an advanced industrial economy. So through out this plan of hopefully saving Russia that Stalin has created products that could not be used and unintelligent citizens who were only trained to only do only one skill. Stalin also murdered citizens who spoke against his idea and called the Great Purge. The Great Purge was a series of campaigns of persecution and political repression orchestrated by Stalin Joseph from 1936 to 1938 in the Soviet Union. It included a large scale purge of the ... • 7. The Importance Of Animated Dental Videos The Importance of Animated Dental Videos Right now animated dental videos are what s trending in the web world. The reason is that most consumers are used to seeing these kinds of videos. Animated videos have an informal and friendly nature that allows people to let their guards down. This allows you to express your marketing message without as much resistance. We are seeing 3D animations creep up in popularity in the marketing of dental products. The tv was one of the first to use animation for commercials for toothbrushes and toothpaste. Now you can popularly see dental care commercials that show animated evil plaques being terminated by heroic toothpaste particles. Another valid point to why our animated dental videos are in high need is because nobody wants to look in somebody else s mouth. It comes from the eighties where 2D was at its peak than in the nineties it was replaced with 3D and is here now. Today you would practically be a mediocre dentist if you can not show your 12 year old patient a beautiful 3D animation of her braces in your initial consult. • 8. The Cause And Effects Of The Mini Ice Age The mini ice age, or Little Ice Age (LIA), was a period of time characterized by a decrease in temperatures worldwide. Although there are no definite times for the start and end of the Little Ice Age, it is generally accepted that it occurred from approximately 1300 CE to 1850 CE. The coldest stage of this time lasted from around 1645 to 1715. Also, the expansion of mountain glaciers in several locations was a distinctive feature of the Little Ice Age. The event had various effects and its origins are disputable. Several causes of the Little Ice Age have been proposed. One of them describes a decrease in sunspot activity, or times when dark spots form on the sun due to low temperatures. The lack of sunspots during the LIA is known as the Maunder Minimum. Since it appeared to occur concurrently with the coldest part of the ice age, from 1645 to 1715, it was considered a plausible reason to explain the Little Ice Age. However, this theory has its flaws, because modeled simulations point to the idea that temperatures would ve dropped to a maximum of 0.4ºC, when the world saw actual decreases of 1 2ºC. Furthermore, the Little Ice Age started before the Maunder Minimum happened, so additional information is needed to explain the original cause of the LIA. Another idea for the catalyst of the Little Ice Age involves the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), a circulation of atmospheric pressure in North America and northern Europe. Typical, or positive NAO is shown when a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is used in almost every metal object that we Americans use on a daily basis, and it would be almost impossible to find one without it. Not only that, but steel is also used in many other things throughout America that would not be possible without it. The development of steel was a revolutionary pivotal point in the history of the United States, because it is involved in the creation of steel appliances and objects, buildings and skyscrapers, and the railroad, which was the backbone of early America. To know how steel impacted the world and changed society for the better, you must first know the history of it and how it came to be. He was one of the key players that led way for the industrialization for America as we know it. One could tell that steel was so important, because he became one of the richest men to ever step foot in America back in his time, solely because of this product. Carnegie started out as a telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad and eventually worked his way up in that corporation and became a superintendent. • 11. Why Fear Plays From The World Of Bull Riding Or Motorcycle... The mental game; every athlete must play the mental game and it s especially prevalent within the world of bull riding or motorcycle racing. When I ponder my days of riding bulls (for a short period) and now racing motorcycles, the one key emotion that sticks out like a broken bone from an arm after a bad crash is most certainly fear. With these two sports, fear is the prevailing emotion that the athletes feed off of and at times, attempt to suppress and control. It s key to understand why fear plays such a major role when looking at these sports objectively. Think about what might happen. The repercussions range from some bruises and broken bones to death and permanent disfigurement. So it is very natural for the athlete to have to deal with the fear of what might go wrong . There are countless times that when it came time for me to slide onto my bull, fear would completely overwhelm me. I was not just forced, but completely pushed into a middle state of panic. All of a sudden my vision narrowed, my breathing became very quick and my pulse could be felt in my temples; racing well over 100 beats per minute. Because of this reaction to fear I usually walked away defeated because I was unable function; I was frozen. It must be understood that fear is a very natural reaction as the human brain tends to want to preserve itself. However, fear can often hold athletes like bull riders or motorcycle races back because we forget the task at hand: doing the very best we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is the strategy that P G is using today, focusing on its core products and distinctive capabilities to serve those high end segments. P G also faces competition from Wal Mart s private brands. The retailer has been very aggressive in recent years in offering private brands. (Cravens Piercy, 2013) Creation of outstanding customer demand for the firm s products, and the generation of sales through other retailers require the following actions: Strengthening core premium, biggest and most profitable brands such as Pampers, Crest and Head Shoulders. Because it has so many brands, P G contracts dozens, if not hundreds of agencies all over the world to help it manage everything from ad campaigns and events to package design and product launches, PR and displays inside Wal Mart and other retailers. Compare and Contrast Old and New Imperialism Essay Compare and Contrast old and new imperialism New Imperialism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries compared to Old Imperialism of the 16th and 17th centuries. Imperialism is the spread of control over territories across the globe. The Industrial Revolution and interests in nationalism created a new period of imperialism around 1750. Old imperialism lasted from 1450 1750, but imperialism alone remained until 1914.Old imperialism and new imperialism shared the same basic concept of controlling and utilizing foreign countries. This led to a focus on a trading system because Europeans didn t want to take on territorial responsibilities. During the Old imperialism era, Europeans set up trading posts, ports, and docks. These trading centers benefited the places the mother country was supplying too. They had objectives to protect their trading centers in native places and none to obtain territories in them. Europe s trade within and between native lands led to cultural diversity which may have caused a small breach in unity. However, the old Imperialism era ended due to high costs in taking over territories and too much time to supply the mother country. There was no time to build up a superior, organized, skilled army for anyone. Also, due to the Industrial Revolution there was now a faster more efficient way to create and manufacture products. Throughout Western Europe, political authority was completely controlled by central governments, while leaders, such as Isabela I, were busy with the concept of how to increase the power of the state. National wealth was widely viewed as the groundwork of national power, governmental controls soon dominated nearly all of the state s domestic economy. The start of Old Imperialism was based on the military and naval power and the underlining motive was essentially capitalistic. The Massachusetts Act does not seem awful on the surface, but the intention of the act was to limit the people of Massachusetts independence. The King shut down ports in the Boston Port Act, which makes sense considering the amount of tea wasted in the Boston Tea Party. The Quebec Act limited the colonists attempts to western expansion by expanding French land ( Quebec ). The Administration of Justice Act was basically the Murder Act, were any British officer involved in a crime would hold trial in Britain, where they were practically allowed to get away with anything. The cultural functions of alcohol consumptions then will be explored; and lastly, alcoholism as a social problem that causes dysfunction and social disorganisation/disorder will be discussed. Discussion A social problem can be defined as some conditions or set of events or group of persons that is undesirable/unfavourable (that violate certain values or beliefs about how a society should function) to a significant proportion of population (Mooney, Knox, Schacht, 2000). The structural functional perspective is mainly based on the Herbert Spencer s, Emile Durkheim s, Talcott Parsons and Robert Menton s works. These theories view society as interrelated and interconnected parts of a system that work harmoniously to maintain a state of balance as a whole, and focuses on how each part influences and be influenced by the other parts. Beliefs, culture, structure, function and adaptations are the key elements that need to be maintained to achieve social order. Society becomes dysfunctional when these elements of society disrupt social stability (Mooney et al., 2000, p. 10). While the culture of consuming alcohol should have functioned as a social part of society, current excessive level of consumptions at harmful levels have created problems in society, such as alcohol fuelled violence (bar fights and domestic violence), medical conditions (like heart and circulatory problems), alcohol related accidents (drink driving), complications in pregnancy ... It forces competitors to perform at a higher level than their peers in hopes of obtaining more money and individual wealth. Homecoming is a great deal to heroes in the ancient epics, as it is the final step to claiming their kleos (glory). Homer uses this as his main theme in his epic poem the Odyssey, as it shows the main character Odysseus yearning to return home to Ithaca after twenty years of being away. Odysseus and Aeneas nostos are both similar in the sense that they encounter some of the same sights, they leave behind woman in order to continue on with their journey and they deal with supernatural forces. He was a philosopher, novelist, and teacher who was heavily influenced by the acts of World War II. Some of his major philosophical works included Being and Nothingness and Consciousness. His works revolved around the human existence in the world. Some of his ideas could have a significant impact on education in the United States, but most are not relevant in today s society because of the very nature of public education in the United States. One of Sartre s major ideas is that the world is absurd and the human is a lonely individual in this world. He believed that our existence had no meaning. Because there is no meaning attached to human existence, it is up to the human to create meaning. Therefore, there is nothing to stand in the way of a person making whatever they want out of their life and becoming anything they want. One of the foundations of the United States of America is that it is the Land of Opportunity, implying that a person can come to the United States and make a life for him or herself. So a modern United States education should be based on this idea and provide the platform for a student to become what they want. Ernest Nagel is a well known philosopher as he is recognized for his works against theism and for supporting atheism in his literary works. In Nagel s A Defense Of Atheism he criticizes the theistic arguments that claim a god is overseeing our world. The ontological, cosmological and teleological arguments are known as the classical arguments for theism. Nagel swiftly pokes many holes in these arguments and runs them to the ground. Besides attacking the flaws in these arguments, Nagel also brings up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Out of the three arguments, these two are the weakest for simple logic can quickly subside them. Nagel supplies this logic for diminishing these arguments in his analysis of both arguments. He first attacks the cosmological argument which claims that only God could be the cause of the existence of earth and that God is self caused. However, Nagel claims that earth could have easily existed forever and that if God is self caused than the earth itself just as easily can be self caused also as he states but if God can be self caused, why cannot the world itself be self caused? (A Defense of Atheism 87). Secondly, Nagel belittles the ontological argument which claims that God must exist because he is perfect and that anything perfect must exist by definition. Which sounds vague and Nagel points this out by claiming that the existence of an object makes no difference by how we formulate them. The well known philosopher Immanuel Kant also had a great appeal by claiming that ...it is just a confusion to say that existence is an attribute, and that though the word existence may occur as the grammatical predicate in a sentence, no attribute is being predicated of a thing when we say that the thing exists or has existence. (A Defense of Atheism 88) Excluding Nagel and Kant s logical explanations against these arguments, I also have my doubts as these two arguments seem to take an ignorant stance. It seems as if the creators of these arguments are stubborn children who believe God has to exist because there is no other possible explanation. However Modern day technology and science also decimates these two arguments as there is new scientific evidence that the earth has been in existence millions of years before the bible. However, the third argument known as the teleological argument makes much more logical sense and relies on empirical evidence which gives it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
