INTRODUCTION
Halitosis / bad breath are a symptom in which a
noticeably unpleasant odour is present on the
breath.
Bad breath can be sign of undiagnosed disease
It does not go away with brushing, mouthwash or
mint.
It remains for longer period of time and may be a
sign of something serious.

MANAGEMENT
1. Mechanical measures
Brushing
Cleaning of tongue
Flossing may be useful
2. Mouthwashes
It contain antibacterial agents
Chlorhexidine, zinc gluconate, essential
oils
3. Underlying disease
If gum disease and cavities are present, it
should be treated.
If disease outside of mouth is believed to
be contributing to the problem, treatment
may result in improvements.
4. Counseling
It is useful in those who falsely
believe that they have bad breath.
