How Does The Impact Theory Of The Moon
There are many theories about the creation of the moon. However the currently favored theory is often
called the impact theory. This theory states that a large, Mars sized objects struck the Earth with a
glancing blow when it was young and molten. This impact caused matter to come off of the Earth and
get stuck in its orbit. The bits of Earth that blew off were pulled together into a stable orbit and formed
the Moon.
The Earth and Moon do have some similarities and differences that are explained by this theory. The
Moon, for example, does not have heavy materials like Earth does. One example of a heavy material
on Earth is the iron core. Earth has one, and the Moon does not. This is explained by the timing of the
impact. If the Moon hit the

Neurocognitive Disorder Analysis
The term neurocognitive disorder was recently established by the DSM V and is divided into major
neurocognitive disorders and mild neurocognitive disorders. The DSM V has grouped the terms
delirium, dementia, and amnestic and other cognitive disorders that were previously used in the DSM
IV TR into one term known as neurocognitive disorders (Mcanulty, 2013). Major neurocognitive
disorder consisted of the term dementia in the DSM IV TR while minor neurocognitive disorder was a
diagnosis not previously included in the DSM. Major neurocognitive disorders will affect an
individual s everyday life significantly, while a mild neurocognitive disorder may not. Neurocognitive
disorders primarily affect an individual s cognitive abilities acquired ... Show more content on

Individuals with this diagnosis can also experience rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior
disorder which includes acting out dreams while in a sleep state. Frontotemporal lobar degeneration
occurs in individuals ages 50 70 and results in inappropriate behaviors, language impairments, trouble
with cognition involving thinking and concentration, as well as movement impairments (Mayo Clinic,
2015). Other forms of neurocognitive disorders include trauma, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson s
disease, and Huntington s disease (Grohol, 2015). Huntington s disease is a genetic disorder that
affects specific nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This disease occurs in earlier years, typically
between the ages of 30 40 and symptoms include changes in personality including anxiety and
irritability, a severe decline in cognition, and weakness affecting gait (Swierzerski, 2014). Traumatic
brain injuries occur from some form of head trauma and symptoms are determined by the part of the
brain that s affected but can include difficulty coordinating movements, problems with speech, and/or
memory impairments . Individuals with a diagnosis of Parkinson s disease can also often times also
develop symptoms of dementia in addition to tremor symptoms

The Influence Of Popular Culture In The 60 s
The swinging sixties and living in the seventies were still very much the domain of the baby boomer
generation as the prosperous post World War II period continued to generate the conditions for youth
culture to thrive. Popular culture in the 60s was not significantly different to the late 50s although the
increase of surf culture and influence of Jazz music was having some impact. This was because many
Australians lived near the coast of surf beaches in which a rise of surfboard riding involved speed,
danger and skills that attracted teenagers. It gave them a new sense of identity, freedom and rebellion.
It was the unbelievable musicians that captured the imaginations of many people such as The Beatles,
The Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye

The Legal System Imagine you are the director of health information services for a medium sized
health care facility. Like many of your peers, you have contracted with an outside copying service to
handle all requests for release of patient health information at your facility. You have learned that a
lobbying organization for trial attorneys in your state is promoting legislation to place a cap on
photocopying costs, which is significantly below the actual costs incurred as part of the contract.

The parties or their attorneys have an opportunity to explain their view of the dispute. Arbitration is
the submission of a disputed matter to an impartial person (the arbitrator) for decision. Arbitration is
typically an out of court method for resolving a dispute. The arbitrator controls the process, will listen
to both sides and make a decision. Like a trial, only one side will prevail. Unlike a trial, appeal rights
are limited. Health Records Pretend you supervise the correspondence unit of the health information
services department of a medical center. Today, you received a subpoena duces tectum from an
attorney, demanding either the originals or copies of all health records concerning Mary Smith, who
allegedly is or was a patient of the medical center. The subpoena lacks sufficient information for you
to determine whether Mary Smith is or was a patient in your facility. The subpoena is not
accompanied by a valid authorization to release information for Mary Smith, as required in your state.
(Case Study, p. 62) How should you respond to the subpoena? In addition to providing the legal
rational for your response, describe the necessary information the subpoena should have included.
Assuming Mary Smith was a patient at the facility, who has ownership over her health record Mary

The Policy Reforms During The Military Regime
Over the last half century, Brazil has seen a change in state run control from a military dictatorship to
a liberal democratic regime. This transition was coupled with an economic shift from import
substitution industrialization (ISI) to a neoliberal understanding of export led industrialization. The
subsequent reforms attempted to align the state with liberal ideology particularly through the
presidencies of Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Considering the extent of
policy reforms that occurred in the state, it s a clear delegitimation of the former military regime. The
aspiration to achieve individual liberty, autonomy, and security in terms of free civil societies did not
advance as a smooth conjunction. Although the authoritarian state abdicated to an electoral
democracy, much of the military style enforcement remains an accepted aspect of Brazil, which
clearly violates democratic principles of civil rights. This paper will analyze policies that ostensibly
fortify the judiciary institutions, which are aimed to improve the blatant lack of accountability and
efficacy that has plagued the country since the military regime. Even though neoliberal policies are
known to erode substantive democracy, they are considered to promote formal democracy. As such,
the progression of the institutional systems has allowed a wider representation of the political
spectrum that encourages participation and the growth of more transparent civil societies. However,

The King James Version Bible

To Preach or Not to Preach
The King James version bible states in Genesis 1:26 27 that Gods image is shared equally by women
and men . Exodus 36:1 says, use your skills to honor God . Despite what the bible seems to be saying,
women do not have the same opportunities as men in Christian religious settings. Imagine a woman in
the Christian faith who has the qualifications to preach the word of God and the eagerness to serve the
Lord. Logically, she should be awarded the job position. However, she is not even considered for that
opportunity. In multiple recurring instances, the church congregation has discriminated against
women, not allowing them to have the same opportunities as the men in the community. These women
are not only discriminated against, but are scoffed at, even penalized for wanting these positions.
Women should not be penalized for having faith in the Lord and wanting to share it with others. The
bible states how both women and men are equal and are to use the skills they have to honor God. The
congregation should not limit these human resources to only men, when highly qualified and respected
women are willing and able to serve. Gender discrimination is a problem in Christian Churches
because women who are qualified are unable to access jobs, are experiencing emotional stress, and are
being penalized for wanting changes within the church.
Historically, the bible has multiple

Myocarditis Research Paper
Myocarditis, a disease attacking the lymphatic system, is inflammation of the heart muscle. It affects
the heart s muscles and lowers the heart s ability to pump, which causes arrhythmias. The lymphatic,
or immune, system does two main things; transport lymph throughout networks of vessels called
lymphatic vessels, and fight off viruses that can harm the body. The body is filled with lymph nodes,
which filter the lymph. They are near the heart, the lungs, and even closer to the skin (ie armpit). The
lymph nodes are scattered almost everywhere between the head and the knees. Myocarditis is usually
found in late adulthood, but can sometimes occur in children. The cause of this disease isn t always
known. However, there are multiple potential causes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many viruses that are connected to myocarditis including; the common cold, herpes
simplex, and hepatitis B C. The next potential cause is bacteria. There are a few commonly known
bacteria that are linked to myocarditis, a few of which include: streptococcus and staphylococcus.
Another potential cause of myocarditis is parasites. Some of these parasites are transmitted by insects.
This cause is more prevalent in Central and South America but it can occur in travellers. The final
potential cause is fungi. In people with weakened immune systems, yeast infections, molds, and other
fungi can cause myocarditis. In addition to these causes, there are some behaviors that could also spur
myocarditis along. These include: medications, illegal drugs, radiation, chemical, and lupus. There are
many symptoms that could help identify myocarditis, including (but not limited to): fatigue, shortness
of breath, arrhythmias, chest pain, body aches, headaches, fever, or a sore

Types of Policing
Policing is to regulate, control, or keep in order with a law enforcement agency or other official group.
It is a job done every minute of every hour of everyday by men and women willing to risk their health
and life. To make the job easier different styles or types of policing methods have been developed.
Some of the most influential types of policing include community oriented policing, problem oriented
policing and intelligence led policing. Community oriented policing or community policing, is a
policing strategy that focuses on working closely with and building ties with members of the
community. Community policing involves the use of partnerships between municipal agencies,
businesses, individual citizens, non profit groups and the media in order to develop methods to police
the community. It requires police to take a proactive approach to address public safety concerns.
Community policing covers a variety of philosophical and practical approaches and is still evolving
rapidly. Community policing strategies vary depending on the needs and responses of the communities
involved; however, certain basic principles and considerations are common to all community policing
efforts. Today s community policing has its origins in the 1960s. The 1960s saw its fair share of urban
riots and gang activity. Police often responded to these criminal actions with brute force, and the

Relationship Between IPT And CBT
Several studies suggest that CBT and IPT may have specific effects when competently implemented,
but only for patients with more severe depression. Among studies that tested for moderation with
respect to severity, specific effects were found only among patients with more severe depression, with
respect to both psychotherapy and medications (Driessen et al., 2010; Fournier, 2010; Kirsch et al.,
2008). Some call this the dirty little secret of pharmaceutical industry that has long selectively
screened out patients with less severe depression (in order to up the odds of finding drug placebo
differences required to win FDA approval) and then turns around and markets those same medications
to people who it knows full well are likely to respond

My Life At An Outpatient Rehabilitation Center
Research Paper
Robert H. Mixon III
American Military University 19 July 2015
Abstract
Ever since my mother started working at an outpatient rehabilitation center, I have always wanted to
be a physical therapist. I chose to right my paper on this field for the fact that I have seen the ins and
outs of the career field. I have spent the majority of my teen life in the gym working out next to many
of the physical therapists as they worked and have become quite close to many of them. I feel as
though this field is great for those that care for their patients and like to see them get better. This is
where the I want to walk again becomes the I will walk again . In that gym, I have seen the rubber
meet the road and words become to actions. Thus, I have been driven to become one of them rather
than just another onlooker.
The healthcare profession of physical therapist started in the Hippocrates and Greek culture,
progressing through to today s day and age where we are utilizing state of the art equipment to
rehabilitate and treat patients so they are able to live a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
The Greek culture is where physical therapy started. It was the basis here that gave life to treating
diseases and injuries through exercises. It continued to progress through the centuries adding to its
toolbox the use of temperature change and electricity as well as other

How Does Iago Succeed In Othello s Evil Deeds
In the play Othello, Iago is a character who carries out a revenge scheme out of jealousy. Many can
argue that Iago failed in his attempt, but Iago ultimately triumphs. Iago succeeds in his revenge by
skill using his proficiency in manipulation and nimble wittedness. So was Iago a skillful person in
duplicity, or was he in possession of an Irish lucky charm? Iago weaves a web of lies, carefully
tightening the silk with his deception. Iago is able to lie with ease and trick his victims because he is
regarded as the Honest Iago and nobody has anything against him, except Rodrigo later on in the play.
In Act I Scene I, Iago reveals his hatred for Othello because of not receiving the promotion. Later on

What Are The Experiences Of African-American Male...
This study endeavored to seek answers that have been at the forefront of research for decades. The
researcher has glanced into the lives and experiences of fourteen African American undergraduate
male students to seek answers to the following questions: (1) What are the experiences of African
American male students in California s public high schools? (2) Are California public high schools
and school based professionals adequately preparing African American male students for post
secondary education options? (3) What kind of barriers, if any, has impacted African American male
students academic success? (4) How are Black male students academically succeeding despite the
academic underachievement that data suggests? and (5) What ... Show more content on

When students feel excluded or not part of, academic achievement decreases (Brown, 2007). The
importance of a positive student to teacher relationship is critical in order for students to succeed and
find themselves fit in the world of academia (Anderson, Nelson, Richardson, Web, Young, 2011).
Interestingly, the data gathered from this study is consistent with previous research on barriers to
student achievement. Anderson et al., (2011) goes on to suggest that there is a direct correlation
between student behavior, positive or negative, and the teacher s relationship with a student. When
considering this, it must be understood that the relationship between the student and teacher, whether
positive or negative, contribute to students academic outcomes and sense of belonging.
Preparing African American male students for college With the rising high school graduation rates
among the African American student body, African American students are still underrepresented in
institutions of higher education (Stinnett, Perkins, Parla, Monson Ready, 2017). Despite the increasing
trends in high school graduation rates among African American students, immediate college
enrollment has not increased significantly since 1990 (Stinnett et al., 2017).

The Impact Of Internet On Our Lives
Since the internet was created, people have been using it more and more every day. It has gotten to the
point that people are looking on either their computers, tablets, or phones for the majority of their day.
This has affected every one of those people and is going to continue to affect the new generations our
lives are going to become more and more technology based. The biggest way that this has affected
people is by being able to read off of the interned whenever they please, and by being able to do this
both the cognitive abilities and intellectual development of people have been affected and it will also
affect these aspects in children who are growing up in today s world. A way in which the internet has
affected people is by weakening their cognitive abilities, this is done in multiple ways. One of those
ways is particularly being noticed in the children of today, that is them being more worried about if
they will like it rather than how long material is. This is mainly a problem when the person is looking
for research, either in a book or online. So the person decides to use the internet to find what they are
looking for because of the fact that it doesn t take as much work. Then when the person finds
something that is even a little bit related to what they are looking for, they stop, even if it isn t the best
article. Christine Rosen, the writer of People of the Screen, compared this process to the gold rush and
more specifically the 49ers. The person just goes

Benedict s Life After Ww2
During WWII, when Benedict was assigned to study the Japanese, they were not well understood. Her
job was to paint a portrait of the culture that would help the United States to understand how their
enemy acted and why they acted the way that they did. Not only that but to also better understand how
they would act to changes the United States planned to make for their government. The Japanese were
not an easy culture to understand, which made the assignment even more difficult with Benedict not
being able to observe in person. Benedict said, The Japanese have been described in the most fantastic
series of but also s ever used for any nation of the world (Benedict, 1946:1). This is why Benedict s

4.6. IAS s overall audit objective is to provide UWCN s Principal and Board of Governors with an

• Some high risk areas require more frequent review;
• The need for audit coverage to encompass the whole range of risks which UWCN has identified as
key to the achievement of its objectives;
• The need for an adequate range of non key risks to be included to ensure our opinion is based on
comprehensive coverage across UWCN;

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention.
The Human Process Intervention, focuses on people within organizations and the processes through
which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes include communication, problem
solving, group decision making and leadership (Cummings Worley, 2015, p. 157). More specifically
the intervention that would be utilized to help with the conflict between the PT s and PTA s would be
to do individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as the Johari window
is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their behaviors (Cummings Worley,
2015). The understanding and awareness of their behaviors and how they act among their fellow co
workers could awaken them to change.
Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with the conflicts
between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these two groups roams, the
prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and
Bradbury (2014) conflict is a fact of organizational life it is inevitable and potentially desirable (p.

Discourse Community Papers
A discourse community is a group of people who share common interest, values and aim to reach the
same goals. For example, this English 1301 course where we ve been assigned to write a paper with
the same goal and ideas in mind. A class where we all discuss our views and passions and relate them
to English and composition. I am excited to share with you what I have learned so far and the skills
that I have acquired in this stimulating English course that has managed to spark my interest in writing

I would consider myself to have been a very committed athlete in high school because I worked my
behind off training for every season. Leaving my blood, sweat and tears on the track, not walking off
of it until I felt I had accomplished what I set out to do. We don t just run, we work. We work on
speed, endurance, strength and technique. We work on teaching ourselves how running is mostly
about mindset rather than a physical thing. We do this exercise where you run a 400 meters telling
yourself you re a brick, sounds kind of dumb, I know. But after you run another 400 meter telling
yourself you are feather, telling yourself you re like Mayweather float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
Without even realizing it, even after running the first 400 and being dead tired, we realize our times
for the second lap were faster than the first! You have to tell your body what to do and be mentally in
control so when you re on your final 200 meters you can push yourself to limits you didn t know you
had. You will find very few track athletes who actually enjoy running themselves to death on a daily
basis, but we do it because when you cross the finish and look up and see you name on the score board
in a top place, you will want to relive the moment over and over again because it is absolutely
priceless. Then when I received the letter telling me I had been offered a scholarship to run and jump

Accounting And Payroll Application Software Packages Essay
The accounting software, is a computer software that records and processes accounting transactions
within practical components such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and trial balance.
The software may be developed by the organization using it, may be purchased from a third party or
may be a combination of both. Today s packaged accounting software not only records financial
transactions and produce accounting reports, but they include functionality for managerial decision
making aimed at gaining competitive advantage. (Collins, 2006). Many of the accounting software
products have add ons that can be used to integrate the software with other software. For example,
Intuit, offers add ons that a third party can mix with QuickBooks. Almost all the accounting software
have a broad customer base, which is good for small businesses. Accounting and payroll application
software packages are the most extensively used packages among small businesses. However, when it
comes to adopting a computer system to manage their accounts, small businesses are at crossroads.
The problem is, which one of the ever increasing brands in the market is suitable for them? If they
already have one, should they upgrade it to a new system? Can they afford it? Are there any risks?
There are all questions that the business asks itself before they even consider any software. The focus
of this research is only on the implementation stage of the software. And the focus is from the point of

Different Theories Of Psychology, And Beliefs And...
Everyone has their own philosophy about the way we live our lives, and how we follow a certain path
to get to our destination. One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were
taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my
Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil.
Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before
learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with
them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born
with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along
the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will
happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something
awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain
person was leading us down the wrong path. The way we live life is largely influenced by the
company we keep and our upbringing. I have friends who were born in corrupt neighborhoods to
parents who were on drugs and they went down the same trail as them. Their environment played a
large part in how they chose to live their lives. Some people have a biological predisposition for drugs,

Essay on Reducing the National Deficit
Reducing the National Deficit
Many United States citizens are unaware of the country s current financial state. Many assume that
one of the world s wealthiest countries could never be in debt. This is untrue however, and, in fact, the
country with the greatest income per capita is in major debt. This study will examine possible
solutions to reducing the United States national budget deficit.
Understanding the National Deficit
The amount of money that the United States government owes as of October 17, 2004 at 03:48:52 pm
GMT was $7,435,016,998.21. The debt has increased by an average of $1.7 billion per day since

The debt skyrocketed to an astounding $279 billion by the year 1946.
When World War II ended in 1949, the debt grew at a slow and steady pace for the next 20 years.
When the Vietnam War began in the 1960 s the debt accelerated sharply. Thanks to the growth of
television and news media, growth of the deficit was widely publicized. For the first time, the
American people were given access to what was going on with the nation s debt. When the Gulf War
began the early 1990 s, the national debt reached a trillion dollars for the first time. By the end of the
Gulf War, the government decided to make amendments to fix the continuing problem with the deficit.
Despite those promises to reduce spending, the debt is currently at it highest point ever.
Who is the Nation Indebted to?
The United States borrows money from individuals that have bought Treasury Bills, Notes, Bonds,
and United States Savings Bonds. The U.S. government also borrows money by issuing Treasury
securities. These securities finance expenditures that exceed its receipts, and are legal under the
authority of the Second Liberty Bond Act. The government s primary source of income is through
taxes paid by its citizens. Supposedly, money is spent on programs that government officials consider
necessary to ensure the best quality of life for all (or at least the majority) of the nation s citizens. The
combination of these amounts is what makes up the national

Bent it like Beckham, directed by Gurinder Chadha (2002) and Billy Elliot, directed by Stephen

The theme is shown through cultural settings and the comparison of the relationship between Jesse

films is a huge obstacle to the main characters dream. Jess comes from an Indian family where her

The Negative Effects Of Sign Language And Sign Language
Over the last few decades, baby sign language has been a consistent hot topic all around the world.
Parents are bringing American Sign Language into the home as tool to communicate with their infants
from a very early age. Despite controversial debates regarding how sign language can negatively
affect a child s development of speech, there have been findings that prove this to be untrue. Teaching
sign language to infants facilitates early communication skills and better interactions with the people
around them. The first argument supporting baby sign language addresses the ongoing debate that
argues teaching infants sign language delays his or her speech. Research has found just the opposite. A
study conducted by Goodwyn, Acredolo, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King (2017) has research findings that show sign language to be the earliest way a child can develop
language skills and connections. Creating a platform of common understanding to children at an early
age will help them initially and in the future. Initially, it exposes infants to language well before than
can speak which gives their brains an advantage when it is time to transition into speaking English. A
child s spoken language is the main goal, but baby sign language gives infants the opportunity to
communicate much earlier than their first word. The average baby speaks their first word around the
age of two, and the average infant being taught sign language can produce their first sign in under a
year. A study done by Bonvillian, Orlansky, and Novack observed 11 infants that were being taught
sign language. Their findings revealed that on average, the first sign was produced around eight and a
half months, and the earliest baby signed their first sign at five and a half months (Thompson, Cotnoir
Bichelman, McKerchar, Tate, Dancho, 2007). These numbers show one of the clear advantages of
baby sign language. The difference between an infant learning sign language and one who is not, is a
whole year of additional communication. It is hard enough for parents to identify the needs of their
baby, but sign language helps fill that void sooner. Pressure is taken off of both the baby and caregiver

The Power Of Desire In A P By John Updike
Within the story A P by John Updike, the main character Sammy is portrayed as a shy optimistic
young teenager working at a grocery store. But a sudden life changing event happens and Sammy
takes charge just as anyone else would. Three pretty young girls walk into the grocery store, in only
bathing suits, just as any guy would feel the urge to stare or even talk to them, he takes action by
sticking up for them as they are getting thrown out of the store resulting in him quitting his job. This
action we see would be the power of desire which is the theme throughout this story. In society today
we tend to see lots of people especially teens afraid to stick up for what they believe in. With the
power of desire, it builds up confidence, shows maturity in the coming of ages, and it even proves you
can do what you believe in. If everyone had this much confidence like Sammy, our world may be a
stronger place. Being confident is very essential in life and it is something many people tend to lack
for many reasons. Some could be self conscious in physical appearance or even believe they are not
good enough. This strong confidence is strongly shown in the story based on the girl s appearances.
For example, The sheep pushing their carts down the aisle the girls were walking against the usual
traffic (not that we have one way signs or anything) were pretty hilarious. You could see them, when
Queenie s white shoulders dawned on them, kind of jerk, or hop, or hiccup, but their eyes

Breaking Down The Basics Of Online Roulette Play
Blog 31 Breaking down the basics of online roulette play It can be argued that the most popular online
casino game today is online roulette. This age old game of charm and novelty seems to be doing a
fantastic job of giving modern games a run for their money, as millions still opt to spin the wheel on a
daily basis. Part of the reason as to why roulette s popularity has remained steady for seemingly
decades is that it is a true game of chance, which puts a player s luck to the ultimate test. When it
comes to roulette anyone can play and more importantly anyone can win. Those looking to get in on
the wheel spinning action needn t overthink the game, as the following looks at how to get to grips
with its basics. Understand the Wheel Here is an odd piece of trivia; the term Roulette is actually the
French term for Small Wheel . The wheel is the core instrument within the game of roulette and is
something that must be studied in order to get the very best out of it. Made up of 36 randomly number
pockets which alternate between the colours red and black, along with a green zero pocket and
sometimes a double zero pocket, numbers and colours are found at the core of this game. Depending
on the variation of online roulette you choose to play the type of wheel you see will change, but
generally speaking the aforementioned is what you re likely to come across. The digital croupier is the
one who controls the game, while players are only able to bet at the beginning of each

With a similar end of war scene in The Book Thief, after the bombings that occurred, Liesel lost the
boy she loved which is another way that the idea of innocence has been corrupted. Within this scene
the director uses a bird s eye view angle of the death of Rudy and mise en scene is also used in this
text, placing Liesel sitting with Rudy in the middle of the ruins of their street, leaving the audience to
feel heartbroken just as The Boy in Striped Pyjamas does with the death of both boys. Although, the
friendship between child protagonists in The Book Thief, Liesel and Rudy, starts as an innocent
friendship and remains that way through most of the film, their friendship is explored through playful
love whereas the friendship between Bruno and Shmuel is explored through boundaries and
restrictions to their freedom, being stuck on opposite sides of the fence. Another friendship that occurs
is the friendship between Liesel and a Jewish man named Max that her family is hiding under their
basement. In this friendship, Liesel herself symbolises innocence which enables Max to find the
strength to survive. The Boy in Striped Pyjamas, however, does not include another important
friendship to the main protagonist, it only focuses on the unlikely friendship between a Jew and a boy
with a commander for a father.

The United States fiscal year 2016 is from October 1, 2015, to September 30, 2016. The requested

every year. This process is also called the appropriation process. These bills specify how much money
will go to the different government agencies and government programs. Congress will then have to
pass legislation that will provide the federal government the authority to spend the money giving to

the three main sources of the budget s revenue. Income taxes are that the government collects from the
American people. Income taxes make up the federal government s largest revenue source. Payroll
taxes are designated as trust funds. As trust funds, the money collect can only be used for a very
specific purpose such as Social Security. Corporate taxes are paid by companies, though a marginal
tax rate anywhere from fifteen percent to thirdly five percent depending on how much profit the
corporation made. There are also a couple of other types of taxes that add to the revenue such as
excise taxes and miscellaneous taxes. In 2016, individual income tax made up forty nine percent,
which is up five percent from 2015. Payroll taxes made up thirty three percent, which was also up five
percent from the following year. This was due to the growth in people wages and salaries. Corporate
taxes made up nine percent, which fell thirteen percent from the following year. Excise taxes made up
three percent and miscellaneous taxes rounded the budget at seven percent. The total revenues for the

The Importance Of Smartphones In Education
Ethics in and through Technology Student Reflection Survey Smartphones or mobile technologies are
becoming more visible in our school systems. Allowing student access to technology could grow and
prepare them for the college arena. With the growing issues of utilizing technology more main stream
in education, school districts should ensure for student safety and implementation of technology.
Tablets are replacing our textbooks, and we can research just about anything that we want to on our
smartphones (Cox (n.d.) para.1). Due to the ethical concern, majority of schools have adapted the use
of I pads in the classroom over the use of personal smartphones. Teachers implemented district issued
technology lessens the safety concerns of use in the classroom. Sites intended for implement have
already received approval for use by the district, and then closely monitored by the instructor.
However, due to the student teacher ratio, teachers still may have a blind eye to what students are
doing on these devices. It is up to that teacher to set regulations for using a computer before admission
of use can began. There is a solution to this disadvantage with the usage of technology. We used the
term My Brother s keeper , we hold each other accountable for our actions with the use of technology.

Parenting Styles In I Am Sam
While watching I Am Sam , Baumrind s parenting styles are displayed in the main characters. The
parenting style Sam best represents is authoritative. Sam encourages Lucy to be the best she can be
while still enforcing rules. Lucy pretends she cannot read the word different because she does not
want to progress without Sam, and he forces her to read the word. Sam also knows what is right and
wrong and enforces this on Lucy. When Lucy climbed out of the window and walked to Sam s new
apartment, he took her right back to her foster family s house. Sam may have the mental capacity of a
seven year old, but he is a good parent in my eyes. Another parenting style shown in I Am Sam is
neglectful parenting. Sam s lawyer, Rita is always busy with her practice and does not spend enough
time with her son, resulting in him being uninterested in her. Rita s husband is never around and is
unfaithful to Rita. Rita not having enough time for her son and her husband leaving creates an

manages to be at the top of the ratings. The Cheesecake Factory is a true anomaly in the world no
other restaurant has pulled this concept off on such a large scale. The restaurant industry stands in awe
of the giant that has become The Cheesecake Factory.
The Cheesecake Factory, according to its CEO David Overton, has broken all the rules in order to
become successful ( 2017 Golden Chain Award Winner ). For example, their strategies go far beyond
Porter s understood and standardized theories of low cost versus differentiation (Porter, 1980, 35 and
41). The Cheesecake Factory manages to provide apparently luxurious food to its customers for cheap,
thereby both keeping its food low cost and differentiating their products. Instead of relying on one
strategy to become successful, The Cheesecake Factory has the best combination of differentiators: its
price and its quality. As a result, The Cheesecake Factory benefits from having the best of both of
Porter s strategies for competitive advantage, thereby conferring upon itself a tremendous marketplace
advantage (Hambrick and Fredrickson, 6).
This multiunit restaurant chain s style has a bizarre combination of ancient Egypt with Victorian style
architecture crossed with Las Vegas extravagance and giant leathery booths. The Cheesecake Factory
chain became successful immediately at its start, and thus the design budget allocated to the future
restaurants outweighed most normal restaurants of the same size. Regardless, this does not explain the
off putting amalgamation of themes that this restaurant

Choosing The Right Of Passage For Teenagers
My fellow city council I agree that you should pass this curfew making it were it is illegal for
teenagers to be out past ten on weekdays and midnight on the weekends. For one teenagers do not
need to be out past these times anyways because if they are most likely nothing could will come out of
it. Nextel it the right of passage for a teenager to have a curfew for generations parents have given
their kids a curfew it is just teenagers never hardly lesson to them. Giving teenagers a curfew keeps
them safe and would give the parents the ease of mind knowing about their kid.
In almost every scenario a teenager is giving a curfew by a parent but barely does the teenager lesson
to their parent. If you make it illegal for a teenager to be out past

The Effect of Spanish Colonization on California Indians
This paper will discuss the impact Spanish colonization and Mexican control had on the indigenous
Indian population in California between 1769 and 1848. As well as discussing the historical origins,
social organizations, material conditions, and world view of the California Indians prior to 1769, this
paper will explain the impact of New Spain s Mission System on the Alta California Indian population
between 1769 to 1821 and the response of its system by the Indians.
Before the Americans and the Spanish there were many indigenous Indian tribes living and thriving
with structure and culture in California. The Paleo Indians were the first people who entered and
inhabited the American continent from Asia during the late Pleistocene period (2 ... Show more

Anthropologist Lowell J. Bean has described the California Indians as non political, ethnic
nationalities. Tribes consisted of triblets , with each triblet including a group of neighboring villages
ranging from hundreds to several thousands individuals. Social classes almost were non existent,
except in the northwest where personal wealth was a common practice.
The history of the California Indians differ from any other ethnic group who came to the Americas in
the last few centuries as immigrants. Indians who came to North America and eventually traveled
south to California lived in a land plenty of natural resources and their material technology reflected
what was necessary to meet their basic needs. They did what was necessary to survive, nothing more,
nothing less. They lived in harmony with their environment with a cultural lifestyle that was more a
reflection of numbers and using the most out of everything. After 1769, things began to change.
Starting in 1500, a new world capitalist system was emerging in Europe. It was a start of a new age, an
age of discovery. Spain was looking for the Northwest Passage, a route linking Europe to Asia through
North America by sea. Every country was profit and trade driven and along with this new age
discovery was a new capitalist system called Mercantilism, which is a system based upon a state to
advance national business interests abroad and is increased

Physical and Behavioral Responses to Starvation and Famine in Two Populations
Introduction
Famine is an event in which food and resources are inaccessible and the majority of a population is
endangered (Shipton, 1990). When applied to starvation this definition is accurate with one additional
idea: starvation is the result of inaccessibility to resources. Many factors contribute to the progression
of famine and the resulting starvation. One of the key factors to consider is the delineation between
naturally occurring and man made starvation and famine.
Naturally occurring famine is the result of agricultural or environmental causes such as lack of rainfall
or poor soil conditions. Man made famine is the deliberate denial of food ... Show more content on

and analysis of starvation in human subjects and is commonly used for interpreting starvation and
famine experiences under less controlled populations and circumstances. The results of the study filled
the urgent need after World War II for information on the physical changes that occur because of semi
starvation and what approach should be taken in rehabilitating starving people. The parameters in
addition to continuous residence at the Laboratory of Physiological
Hygiene at the University of Minnesota included strict dietary controls during the three stages of the
study: a twelve week control, a twenty four week semi starvation, and a twelve week period of
restricted rehabilitation. The diet consumed during the semi starvation period reflected the diet typical
of European areas that had or were experiencing famine. The food proportions and diets were adjusted
to each subject according to body size and relative obesity (Keys et al.,
1950).
Detailed accounts of the physical responses of the subjects and morphology of the body as it
underwent nutritional restriction were included in the study. There was an average decrease of twenty
five percent muscle tissue and subcutaneous fat, which caused much of the body to become atrophied.
The bones of the upper torso (specifically the clavicle and rib bones) became prominent as soft tissues
diminished. Dental caries, an expected

Drake Taylor Narrative
It s game night for the young Drake Taylor. Overwhelmed with nervousness, with a cold sweat
running down his forehead. Tonight s the night , Drake said to himself, tonight s the night of the game
that means everything. For a kid with no confidence, he was pumped to show off his skills. The
bounce of a knee to his favorite motivational song helped him get an edge and focus on his game.
Through all the chaos he waits. Finally getting to the rink from what seemed like a never ending car
ride. Pulling his stinky bag and sticks out of the car he called home for the last three hours. Stumbling
into the ice cold rink, atired with a suit and tie. Looking everywhere for the team he has called family.
A family consisting of a group of boys not bonded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. How Does The Impact Theory Of The Moon There are many theories about the creation of the moon. However the currently favored theory is often called the impact theory. This theory states that a large, Mars sized objects struck the Earth with a glancing blow when it was young and molten. This impact caused matter to come off of the Earth and get stuck in its orbit. The bits of Earth that blew off were pulled together into a stable orbit and formed the Moon. The Earth and Moon do have some similarities and differences that are explained by this theory. The Moon, for example, does not have heavy materials like Earth does. One example of a heavy material on Earth is the iron core. Earth has one, and the Moon does not. This is explained by the timing of the impact. If the Moon hit the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The DSM V has grouped the terms delirium, dementia, and amnestic and other cognitive disorders that were previously used in the DSM IV TR into one term known as neurocognitive disorders (Mcanulty, 2013). Major neurocognitive disorder consisted of the term dementia in the DSM IV TR while minor neurocognitive disorder was a diagnosis not previously included in the DSM. Popular culture in the 60s was not significantly different to the late 50s although the increase of surf culture and influence of Jazz music was having some impact. This was because many Australians lived near the coast of surf beaches in which a rise of surfboard riding involved speed, danger and skills that attracted teenagers. • 6. The Policy Reforms During The Military Regime Over the last half century, Brazil has seen a change in state run control from a military dictatorship to a liberal democratic regime. This transition was coupled with an economic shift from import substitution industrialization (ISI) to a neoliberal understanding of export led industrialization. The subsequent reforms attempted to align the state with liberal ideology particularly through the presidencies of Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Considering the extent of policy reforms that occurred in the state, it s a clear delegitimation of the former military regime. The aspiration to achieve individual liberty, autonomy, and security in terms of free civil societies did not advance as a smooth conjunction. Although the authoritarian state abdicated to an electoral democracy, much of the military style enforcement remains an accepted aspect of Brazil, which clearly violates democratic principles of civil rights. This paper will analyze policies that ostensibly fortify the judiciary institutions, which are aimed to improve the blatant lack of accountability and efficacy that has plagued the country since the military regime. Even though neoliberal policies are known to erode substantive democracy, they are considered to promote formal democracy. As such, the progression of the institutional systems has allowed a wider representation of the political spectrum that encourages participation and the growth of more transparent civil societies. Helgeson Beth Baxley Advanced English 9, Period 5 20 April 2015 To Preach or Not to Preach The King James version bible states in Genesis 1:26 27 that Gods image is shared equally by women and men . Exodus 36:1 says, use your skills to honor God . Despite what the bible seems to be saying, women do not have the same opportunities as men in Christian religious settings. Imagine a woman in the Christian faith who has the qualifications to preach the word of God and the eagerness to serve the Lord. Logically, she should be awarded the job position. However, she is not even considered for that opportunity. In multiple recurring instances, the church congregation has discriminated against women, not allowing them to have the same opportunities as the men in the community. These women are not only discriminated against, but are scoffed at, even penalized for wanting these positions. Women should not be penalized for having faith in the Lord and wanting to share it with others. The bible states how both women and men are equal and are to use the skills they have to honor God. The congregation should not limit these human resources to only men, when highly qualified and respected women are willing and able to serve. Gender discrimination is a problem in Christian Churches because women who are qualified are unable to access jobs, are experiencing emotional stress, and are being penalized for wanting changes within the church. Historically, the bible has multiple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The body is filled with lymph nodes, which filter the lymph. They are near the heart, the lungs, and even closer to the skin (ie armpit). It is a job done every minute of every hour of everyday by men and women willing to risk their health and life. To make the job easier different styles or types of policing methods have been developed. Some of the most influential types of policing include community oriented policing, problem oriented policing and intelligence led policing. Community oriented policing or community policing, is a policing strategy that focuses on working closely with and building ties with members of the community. Community policing involves the use of partnerships between municipal agencies, businesses, individual citizens, non profit groups and the media in order to develop methods to police the community. It requires police to take a proactive approach to address public safety concerns. Community policing covers a variety of philosophical and practical approaches and is still evolving rapidly. Community policing strategies vary depending on the needs and responses of the communities involved; however, certain basic principles and considerations are common to all community policing efforts. Mixon III American Military University 19 July 2015 Abstract Ever since my mother started working at an outpatient rehabilitation center, I have always wanted to be a physical therapist. I chose to right my paper on this field for the fact that I have seen the ins and outs of the career field. I have spent the majority of my teen life in the gym working out next to many of the physical therapists as they worked and have become quite close to many of them. I feel as though this field is great for those that care for their patients and like to see them get better. This is where the I want to walk again becomes the I will walk again . In that gym, I have seen the rubber meet the road and words become to actions. Thus, I have been driven to become one of them rather than just another onlooker. The healthcare profession of physical therapist started in the Hippocrates and Greek culture, progressing through to today s day and age where we are utilizing state of the art equipment to rehabilitate and treat patients so they are able to live a better life for themselves and their loved ones. Interestingly, the data gathered from this study is consistent with previous research on barriers to student achievement. It has gotten to the point that people are looking on either their computers, tablets, or phones for the majority of their day. The biggest way that this has affected people is by being able to read off of the interned whenever they please, and by being able to do this both the cognitive abilities and intellectual development of people have been affected and it will also affect these aspects in children who are growing up in today s world. A way in which the internet has affected people is by weakening their cognitive abilities, this is done in multiple ways. One of those ways is particularly being noticed in the children of today, that is them being more worried about if they will like it rather than how long material is. This is mainly a problem when the person is looking for research, either in a book or online. So the person decides to use the internet to find what they are looking for because of the fact that it doesn t take as much work. Then when the person finds something that is even a little bit related to what they are looking for, they stop, even if it isn t the best article. One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil. Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain person was leading us down the wrong path. The way we live life is largely influenced by the company we keep and our upbringing. Teaching sign language to infants facilitates early communication skills and better interactions with the people around them. King (2017) has research findings that show sign language to be the earliest way a child can develop language skills and connections. Creating a platform of common understanding to children at an early age will help them initially and in the future. Initially, it exposes infants to language well before than can speak which gives their brains an advantage when it is time to transition into speaking English. A child s spoken language is the main goal, but baby sign language gives infants the opportunity to communicate much earlier than their first word. The average baby speaks their first word around the age of two, and the average infant being taught sign language can produce their first sign in under a year. A study done by Bonvillian, Orlansky, and Novack observed 11 infants that were being taught sign language. Their findings revealed that on average, the first sign was produced around eight and a half months, and the earliest baby signed their first sign at five and a half months (Thompson, Cotnoir Bichelman, McKerchar, Tate, Dancho, 2007). These numbers show one of the clear advantages of baby sign language. The difference between an infant learning sign language and one who is not, is a whole year of additional communication. It is hard enough for parents to identify the needs of their baby, but sign language helps fill that void sooner. Pressure is taken off of both the baby and caregiver when ... Ranked the #1 casual dining chain, The Cheesecake Factory s affordable food and large portions appeal to the masses ( Consumer Picks 2016: Casual Dining Results ). A vivid portrait of American capitalism, The Cheesecake Factory has transformed its strange design concepts into an established theme, convinced its fans that its inexpensive style is that of luxury, and coaxed its customers into thinking that its menu choices are a blessing, not an inconvenience. It has twisted its incompetence into a competitive strategy a true deviant that still manages to be at the top of the ratings. The Cheesecake Factory is a true anomaly in the world no other restaurant has pulled this concept off on such a large scale. The restaurant industry stands in awe of the giant that has become The Cheesecake Factory. The Cheesecake Factory, according to its CEO David Overton, has broken all the rules in order to become successful ( 2017 Golden Chain Award Winner ). For example, their strategies go far beyond Porter s understood and standardized theories of low cost versus differentiation (Porter, 1980, 35 and 41).
