Abolishment Of Slavery Research Paper
Since the abolishment of slavery in the enactment of the 13th Amendment which says slavery is
abolished except for in the punishment of a crime. In 1884, the convict leasing takes place. The
Convict leasing is renting or leasing of prisoners to private business owners or company for their
labor. Debt Peonage during 1870 is paying off a debt through labor when the debtor lacks
sufficient cash or other assets. This way of paying debt is not to isolate and was seen throughout
the whole country. The abolishment of slaveryis the cause of the enactment of convict leasing and
peonage.
After the Civil War of 1861 to 1865, finding labor became difficult for land owners. Landowners

The problem with debt peonage is paying backing the loan owed is very difficult and may take
many years. The amount of work laborer do, they get pay cents or more for their loans. The
landowner is the one that determined how many workers get pay for the work they are doing.
African Americans were accused of owning money or loan even it was factual or not. No one
would believe them because they have less respect in society. As we learned in class from the
video Slavery by Another name . In her new book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the
Age of Colorblindness , Michelle Alexander talks about convict leasing camps being in many ways
worse than slavery (page 21). She explains the new way African Americanare enslaved by the
system. They being enslave by the use of drugs especially crack. White supremacy is the main goal,
for the white race to be the superior race than any other races. Incarcerating African American has
been ongoing problems. The new enslavement is through racism which the after effect of the Civil
War. The New Jim Crow is about how the black code created a separation between races. The black
code is intended to establish systems of peonage and to create another system of forced labor

poor whites and by making poor whites made them slave patrols and militias. The bribery was

The Golden Age
The Golden Age of detective fiction refers to both specific sub genre and (the cozy) and the
historical period (the interwar years) (James, 2009). It is loosely defined as a soft boiled
detective fiction released between the two wars (World War 1 and World War 2). The Golden
age of detective fiction was arguably caused by the interwar period (James, 2009). This paper
seeks to discuss, with references to the fictions of Agatha Christie and other canonical Golden Age
texts, why the Detection fiction of the interwar period was described as a Golden Age. During this
period, the detective novels were largely characterized by their intellectual games between the
reader and author, and the clue based mysteries (Scaggs, 2005). In this era, a Detection Club that
consisted of renowned detective authors, agreed on rules that a writer of detective fictionwas to
operate. One of these rules was the Cluepuzzle. From the clues, both the reader and detective were
to ensure they drew rational conclusions. Other rules agreed upon included the crime, the detective,
the setting, and the criminal. These rules made the Golden Age a distinct sub genre within the
context of crime fiction. It was during this period that the spinster detectives became more popular,
especially on the fictional stage. Prior to this era, detectives were dominated by men, with women
taking the roles of villains or victims. Women rarely played a role of the main protagonists
(Scaggs, 2005). To this effect, women

Addiction To Heroin Essay
Heroin is an illegal opioid drug that is synthesized of morphine. The substance occurs in the Asian
opium poppy plant naturally and is then extracted ( DrugFacts:Heroin ). Heroin can be taken in
many different ways including being inhaled, injected or smoked. It creates a reaction within the
body that gives the user a feeling of euphoria and what is typically described as a rush . It is
estimated that about 23 percent of users become dependent ( Genetic Susceptibility ). Heroin
addictionis a chronic relapsing disease and sufferers show symptoms such as compulsive drug
seeking, abuse, tolerance and physical dependence. Addiction to heroin is a worldwide public
health crisis.
Today more people are using heroin, sometimes they start using because they have become
addicted to prescription painkillers. A study conducted by Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Services Administration showed that people who abuse painkillers, such as OxyContin are 19
times more likely to start using heroin, 8 out of 10 people who started using heroin abused
painkillers first (Bellum. 2014). Both heroin and painkillers belong to the same class of drugs.
They attach to opioid receptors in the brain, spinal cord, intestines, and other organs and decrease
the feeling of pain ( Effects, Signs, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mental health disorders, such as depressed individuals or those with anxiety ( Connection to
Substance Abuse ). Many studies have been done and they show that approximately half of those
who suffer from mental illness are also substance abusers ( Mental Health Disorders ). This poses
an issue of a dual diagnosis. In most cases, this goes unnoticed due to the fact that many symptoms
of addiction and mental illness are the same ( Connection to Substance

Government Spending On Welfare And The Gross Domestic Product
Introduction
Various governments send out information regarding how various tax revenues are utilizes on
people who pay these taxes. Spending is always broken into numerous categories and welfare is
one of the biggest categories. Expenditure on welfare is directly extracted from government
statistics[1]. There has been a great debate as to whether government spending on welfare has any
relationship with the size of a country s GDP[2]. As such, this research is meant to demystify the
situation. The purpose of carrying out this research is to examine any underlying correlation
between the government spending in welfare of the people and the gross domestic product.
There are two hypotheses as far as this subject is concerned. One sates that ... Show more content on

Additionally, people who are working in countries that have better welfare will be in a better
position to work and hence help build the GDP. Hence, carrying out the research will help the
researcher be able to choose between the two hypotheses and hence determine whether government
expenditure on welfare effects the growth of the GDP or stagnation of the same.
Literature Review
The question of whether or not there is a correlation between government spending on welfare and
the GDP has thrown policy makers into debates and clearly differing theoretical camps[3].
Empirical studies have given confusing evidence as some of the studies have favored one approach
or the other depending on many factors in consideration. The huge growth of government spending
on the welfare of the people in both development and developing countries since the times of the
Second World War and its effect on the gross domestic product has produced a wide literature that
offers distinct attempts to expound on the observed relationship[4].
On the other side, studies on public finance have been channels on the identification of the primary
causes of the growth in public sector expenditure. Among the earliest trials to explain, the growth
in the economic growth and expenditure in the public sector is Wagner s Law. This law is based
on the observations of Adolf Wagner. His observations were first for his country and then for rest of
the world. He states that

Correlation Between Motivation And Achievement
Brown and Wahlberg designed a study in which they intended to demonstrate an independent causal
relationship between motivation and achievement (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). They purported to
have devised a study with a randomized assignment of students to conditions eliciting different
degrees of motivation (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 134). The question for the researchers remained
what is the effect of experimentally manipulated motivational conditions on elementary math
scores (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 133). The study remains a randomized quantitative mixed
methods quasi experimental study of 406 heterogeneously grouped students in third, fourth and
sixth through eighth grades in Chicago Public Schools (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Three schools
were selected to participate in the study. The student populations in each school were described
as lower middle working class and predominantly Hispanic and African American (Brown
Wahlberg, 1993). Respective of each school, two classes were randomly selected out of each
grade level and randomly assigned to experimental groups. The participant groups were
administered the Mathematics Concept subtest of the Iowa Basic Skills (ITBS) 1978, Levels 9 14.
The ITBS was selected for its high reliability rating of 0.85 and its correlation with school
curriculum (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). One group received standard testing instructions while the
other group received an additional set of motivational instructions read from a script.

Paul Mccartney Conspiracy
It s a fool who plays it cool by making his world a little colder,ВЁ the voice of this lyric, Paul
McCartney, a former member of the Beatles and one of the most popular solo performers. He
has been the subject of a conspiracy for years. In 1966, McCartney was in a car wreck, the
conspiracy is that he died in the car wreck and was replaced by an imposter. Even though there are
conspiracies that Paul McCartneywas cloned or replaced by an imposter, there are also many facts
and logical explanations that prove he is and always has been, the real Paul McCartney.

Lennon believed it to be the music of the future . But particularly, it has dialogue throughout the
track that is saturated with references to the tragic car wreck. First, the words number nine were
intended to become turn me on, dead man when reversed. Sounds of a car horn, a crash, and fire
are heard in this track. Screams from a man can also be heard, and when played backward, those
screams sound like Get me out, which was what Paul had screamed after his car caught fire.
During this part, Lennon said, I m not in the mood for wearing clothing . Played backward would
reveal the statement, There were two, there are now none . Referring to Paul and the woman that
was with him when the wreck occurred.
Photo Comparisons and Voice Analysis
Some true believers have went as far as to do voice analysis of Paul McCartney s voice in songs
before and after the car crash. Through these voice analysis s they came to the conclusion that
the real Paul had died in the car wreck and was replaced by a fake Paul. In photo comparisons from
before and after the wreck, Paul s left eye appears lower and his chin seems more protruding. Also,
his lips are somewhat thinner.

Gelatin cryogel sheets (5%) were synthesized using...
Gelatin cryogel sheets (5%) were synthesized using glutaraldehyde as the cross linker. The aldehyde
groups of glutaraldehyde form covalent imine bonds with amino groups of gelatin. Initially
different concentrations of gelatin were used (4%, 5%, 6% and 8% respectively). On physical
examination of the cryogels produced with these concentrations, it was observed that at higher
concentration of gelatin polymer(8%) the rate of polymerization was very fast and hence cryogel
sheets formed were not proper. As the percentage of gelatin was increased the amount of cross
linker required was low i.e., the amount of cross linker required decreases with increase in
monomer concentration. Increase in polymer concentration also leads to less elasticity... Show more

Decrease in glutaraldehyde cross linker on increasing the polymer precursor might be happening
due to the increased probability of colliding polymers and cross linking agent in this unfrozen
liquid microphase where all chemical reactions take place. More probability of colliding might be
decreasing the amount of glutaraldehyde required to crosslink polymers for gel synthesis. It was
also observed that if the amount of glutaraldehyde used was more than the optimum concentrations
(Table 1.1), the gel formed lack porous network and were tough and brittle. When the
glutaraldehyde concentration was reduced and kept lower than the optimized one, the gels were
weak in mechanical strength. This observation suggests that there seems to be some competition
between the nucleation process which takes place in frozen regions and gelation process which
takes place in unfrozen liquid microphase. When the concentration of glutaraldehyde was lower
than optimum, nucleation process dominates the gelation process and the gels formed were weak
due to large pores and less polymer wall formation by cross linking of polymers. When
glutaraldehyde quantity was taken more than optimum, gelation dominates the nucleation process
and the gels formed were without any pores and were brittle. Figure 1.1A shows the digital images
of optimized gelatin sheets. Figure 1.1B and 1.1C shows that at an optimized polymer and cross
linker ratio

Human Nature In The Bible
Human nature is a trait that all humans share. It is the instinct to feel things and behave in a certain
way. Human nature is neither good nor bad. All humans are different but have similar
characteristics when it comes to human nature. Throughout The Bible as in Literature the theme of
human nature is strongly demonstrated through the traits of family, forgiveness, and jealousy
proving that humans have the instinct to certain behaviors depending on their personality.
Throughout The Bible as in Literature jealousy is strongly exemplified through the characters

The theme of family is very prominent in all of the stories, and it is kept an important theme. So
his brothers were wrought up at him, and his father kept the matter in mind... They saw him
from afar, and before he came close to them they conspired to kill him. (Ackerman, Warshaw,
pg.92 93). The quote above describes the relationship between Joseph and his family in the story
Joseph: Favored and Cast Down. Joseph tells his brothers about dreams he has had and this
angers them. This quote gives the reader an idea of how quickly a family can turn on each other.
It exemplifies how human nature is a lot of thinking about yourself. Joseph confides in his
brothers and they don t like what he tells them about how he was ruling in his dream so they
conspire to get rid of him. With that he embraced his brother Benjamin around the neck and
wept, and Benjamin wept in his neck. He kissed all his brothers and wept upon them...
(Ackerman, Warshaw, pg.105) The next Joseph story Joseph: His Brothers Keeper shows Joseph
forgiving his brothers for trying to get rid of him. The quote displays how Joseph has come to
forgive his brothers even after what they had done. It gives the reader an example of how strong
bonds between families are and they can forgive each other even after seemingly unforgivable acts.

Notes On Value Of Money
In this chapter 4, Time Value of Money we discussed about Future Value, Present Value, Rates of
return and Amortization. Future value is the value of an asset at a particular date that means a
given sum of money is worth at a specified time in the future with certain interest. It is product of
present value and accumulation function. Present value also known as Present Discounted value. It
is less or equal to the future valuebecause of money has interestrate. For example A dollar today is
worth more than a dollar tomorrow because it can be invested and earn a day s worth of interest
so it makes more than a dollar tomorrow. A rate of return is measure of profit as a percentage of

CHAPTER 5
In chapter 5, Bonds, Bond Valuation, and Interest rates we discussed mainly about key features of
Bonds, Bond valuation, measuring yield and Assessing risk. Generally Bonds are income
investments, the bond s issuer agrees to pay a certain rate of interest at regular intervals for a set
period until the bond matures or the principal is repaid. The features are set maturity dates, Interest
payments, Principal Investment Repayment, credit ratings, callable bonds, minimum investment.
The benefits are reliable source of income, liquidity, and exempt from taxation, low risk. Bonds
are classified into different type s corporate bonds (money borrowed by institution or corporation),
Municipal Bonds (are issued by states, countries, cities and local) and Us Government securities.
Bond valuation is determines the fair value of a particular bond. It calculates the present value of
the bond s future interest payments (cash flow), and the bond s value upon maturity, also known
as its face value or par value. Yield curve risk refers to the probability that the yield curve will shift
in a manner that affects the values of securities tied to interest rates particularly bonds. Also known
as the term structure of interest rates, the yield curve is a graph that plots the yields of similar
quality bonds against their maturities, ranging from shortest

Abstract
Many individuals have experienced problems with their hospitals or health care facilities. An
important concept that I learned from facing this family crisis that will be examined in this paper

I regretted the fact that we were not more prepared to deal with this crisis. Thus, I have since
learned that I need to research the qualifications of any professional my child will be receiving
treatment from. In the future, I will research hospitals or schools before enrolling my child in
them. I can also apply the concept that quality care is an important aspect of a person s life to
other situations as well. For example, I will have to make sure that my child has a qualified
pediatrician and dentist to take care of his health needs in the future. I will also have to ensure that
my child gets his vaccinations. Moreover, I learned that there is no substitute for being prepared
for an emergency situation. I plan on researching the response time of our police and fire
departments and plan to learn about the efficiency of our ambulance services.
R.S.V 4 Another part of the lessons I learned while confronting this family crisis is how I learned
that high quality heath care is best provided by highly qualified doctors. I also learned that an
unqualified doctor may easily misdiagnose a patient s symptoms. The discussion below will show
how I have learned to ask questions before selecting a pediatrician. My son was initially treated by

The coefficient of static friction between brass and different materials were experimentally
determined by observing slip angels. A brass block was placed at the top of different ramps made
of rubber, wood, sandpaper, and Teflon. Once the angle of the ramp was raised high enough the
block began to slip, the angle at this point was measured. Static friction reaches a maximum at the
slip angle, thus allowing the block to slip. Vector components, Newton s second law, and the

The transmutations of technology and capital, work together to create a new globalized and
interconnected world. (Castell, 1998) A technological revolution involving the creation of
computerized network of communication, transportation and exchange is the presupposition of a
globalized economy, along with the extension of a world capitalist market system that is absorbing
evermore areas of the world and spheres of production , exchange and consumption. The
technological revolution presupposes global computerized networks and the free movement of
goods, information and people across national boundaries. Hence the internet and global computer
networks make globalization possible, by producing a technological infrastructure for the global
economy. Globalization has an effect on employment patterns worldwide. It has contributed to a
great deal of outsourcing which is one of the greatest organizational and industry structure shifts

When one thinks about the quality of life in China, people assume that they are thriving due to
the booming markets in their big cities. However, most of China is considered rural and
conditions are not like that of those in the city. Over the past decade, China has invested time and
money into developing their power grids and the development of roads and highways, amongst
other things. Their increase in infrastructure has increased the quality of life for everybody
involved. Because they are able to hire cheap labor, they have been able to employ hundreds, if
not thousands, in order to continue their growth, which makes way for quality of life
improvements. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, China spent 9% of GDP on
infrastructure... (Laurel Graefe). That is a very measurable amount of money! Although
infrastructure is one of the major components to a thriving economy, you must also take into
consideration technology and the productivity of the people. If technology is not improving, it s
harder to improve the quality of goods and services provided. If a person in the work field is not
productive in their work or undereducated in their work, the quality of the goods and services they
are creating will not benefit the buyer and therefore goods and services will not be purchased.
Therefore, technology and human productivity go hand in hand with infrastructure

Structured data is an organised data structured into rows and columns. The purpose of this is to
enable machines that apply limited logic, to be able to understand and process information. The
most well known example of storing structured data and to apply operation is SQL meanwhile
unstructured data is the complete opposite of this. It is everything else that isn t in a structured
format. It was never meant to be understood by machines, as this type of information has been
created specifically for the purpose of being understood by a human mind. Examples would
include: emails, books, letters, social media posts, images, audio video files, etc. The most
common and expensive operation on structured data is cascading and a defined schema of tables

When I saw the light Immediately, when I turned sixteen I woke up in the morning and saw a
pair of shinny silver keys sitting on my desk. I jumped up with excitement and rushed out the
door wearing only my boxers, with the keys dangling in my hand. There it was: my brand new
GMC Envoy, dark hunter green with a wax that could blind you. I stared at the car with
excitement and admiration; it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and it was mine. I
took it for a test drive around the block and opened it up on the highway only three blocks from
my house. It had a V8 under the hood, black leather seats, a Bose sound system and enough
horsepower to tow anything I desired. After my first test drive around the neighborhood, I picked up

blue from suffocating from the seat belt that entangled his neck. They immediately sent
Brandon on his way to the hospital on a Helicopter. You could hear the propellers of the

Pride In Ephesians
Pride
One of the greatest pitfalls among God s prophet is unholy pride. It has leveled not a few of God
s highly anointed servants. God will not share His glory with another. Those who are used by
God must quickly learn that everything that is revealed, prophesied or ministered is from Him and
not from themselves. The prophetic ministry is paralleled to the dead womb of Sarah. There was
no possibility that Sarah could conceive of herself only a resurrection miracle could produce an
Issac. The prophet does not hold the office because of his looks, intelligence, insight, deep hunger
for God, or consecration. The office is given according to grace, election and divine appointment.
These things have nothing to do with the vessel aside of accepting what God has ordained.
God abhors pride because it has its roots in Lucifer s rebellion. Lucifer grew proud because of His
beauty and wisdom, and then sought to exalt himself above the throne of God through rebellion.
The nature of pride, therefore, is rooted in opposition against divine ... Show more content on

Prophets typically flow in the revelation gifts, which can bring about some amazing things. Names,
addresses, homes, employment and family members may be described with great accuracy. Total
strangers may have their troubling issues described in detail companied with a comforting word of
the Lord. I have seen the anointing so powerfully demonstrated that the prophet could blow on the
people and they fall to the ground. At other times, the coat of the prophet thrown at a bystander
could bring them to the ground at the amazement of the audience. What a prophet must guard
against is theatrics of the sake of grandstanding and large offerings. When all that we do is for
attention and not because it is the heart of God, we fall into the pitfall of performance. It is
integrity, not sensationalism, which gives the prophetic ministry

Aristotle s Categories
It was discussed that primary substances are essential to have other substances exist. In The
Categories, Aristotle talks about the meaning and the importance of primary substances. Aristotle
states that primary substances are most properly called substances in virtue of the fact that they are
the entities which underlie everything else (Categories, 3). In other words, primary substances are
neither predicated in a sentence or present in the subject. An example of a primary substance that
was given in Categories was the individual man whereas the group would be considered the
secondary substance. The man is considered to be a primary substance because man can exist
without a subject. On the other hand, the group where a man belongs to is

How to Creating a Positive Atmosphere in Your Classroom....
According to Rogers cited in Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman (2008), classroom climate is the
tone that the class experiences in normal daily life. The classroom is essentially a group of
learners brought together for the common goal of learning. The attitude of the class depends on the
attitudes of the individuals in the classroom, as well as the educator s attitude. The educators role
is to use their knowledge, skill and behaviour to create an effective and positive learning
environment in their classroom (Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman, 2008). Coetzee et al (2008)

2008). On the other hand, cognitive theorist Weiner suggests that an individual s actions are driven
by their beliefs and attributions of success or failure. Lastly social learning theorists think that an
individual s actions are determined by the value that a particular goal holds for them and their
expectation of success (Coetzee et al. 2008). Every individual identifies with a different theory and
may be motivated differently. However, motivation, irrelevant of how it is achieved is either
intrinsic or extrinsic.
Extrinsic motivation refers to motivating factors that are external, like money or grades. These
rewards provide additional satisfaction and pleasure that are not necessarily gained from the task
performed. On the other hand intrinsic motivation comes from inside an individual and refers to
the person s inner desire for success (Coetzee et al, 2008). Outcomes based education has increased
the need for learners to take responsibility for their own education; as a result intrinsic motivation
has become more relevant. Intrinsic motivation happens when a learners self efficiency (personal
competence) and determination (personal control) to succeed occur at the same time. Developing
learners intrinsic motivation can help promote academic success (Dev, 1997).
To help learner reap the advantages of intrinsic motivation, it is essential to provide academic
activities that promote the development of

Like Austin, Bush is small in size, standing at 5 foot 5 and 168 pounds. He is fast, agile and

During his tenure at South Charleston High School, the 6 foot, 173 pound Pitts had 348 career
tackles, including 13 sacks and 35 tackles for loss.
In his senior season, Pitts had 90 tackles, including 56 solo stops and nine tackles for loss. He
recovered three fumbles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
Also, the freshman is someone that can return punts if need be. Pitts averaged 45.5 yards on kickoff
returns and 21.3 on punt returns.
Often, offensive linemen don t see much playing time as a freshman. However, Josh Sills may be
an exception to that.
The Sarahsville, Ohio native traveled with the team last season and had a chance to learn from
some of the best. Currently, Sills is penciled in as Grant Lingafelter s backup at right guard on the
preseason depth chart.
The 6 foot 6, 320 pounder was a two year starter at Meadowbrook High School. In 2015, he was an
Associated Press All Ohio Division IV first teamer and earned a three star rating by ESPN, Rivals,
Scout, 247Sports and PrepStar.
Heading into fall camp last season, Brendan Ferns was a linebacker expected to make some noise.
However, he suffered a season ending ACL injury.
Now, the St. Clairsvile, Ohio native is ready to make his mark on the Big 12.
As a senior, the 6 foot 2, 236 pound Ferns made 118 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks, five
pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.
In 2016, he was named to the U.S. Army All American Bowl.

Beast continuously states that he is not a lord, but a beast (Beaumont 24). With that being said
he is not accepting of his real beauty. Beauty was terrified when she first laid eyes on the beast,
however she tried to conceal her fear. Beauty quickly thought that the beast, besides being very
powerful, was also very kind , which was the first sign of acceptance of the beastly monster
(Beaumont 24). Even though Beauty has quickly started to see past the beasts appearance, the

The Importance Of Friendship In Of Mice And Men
Friendship is pointless. No matter what these relationships end in either tragedy or heartbreak, but
without them we are motiveless. Throughout the story of Of Mice and Men lots of relationships
are lost and lots are made, showing that although purposeless, we still need these friendships. In his
novel Of Mice and Men John Steinbeckuses indirect characterization to reveal how we as humans
are always in need of a companion for without them you will be lonesome and purposeless, but
these companionships prove to be fragile and you are prone to losing them.
Before any of the present events of the story took place Lennie was living with his Aunt Clara,
but began to travel with George once she died because without him he would have no purpose
and live a lonely existence. Lennie no longer had a mentor by his side, so he had no idea what to
do in any situation. George remembers when talking to Slim that: I turns to Lennie and says, Jump
in. An he jumps. Couldn t swim a stroke. He damn near drowned before we could get him. An he
was so damn nice to me for pullin him out. Clean forgot I told him to jump in. (Steinbeck 40)
This shows how Lennie was purposeless without anyone to tell him what to do. When George told
him to jump in the river he immediately does, ignoring the fact that he had no idea how to swim.
He didn t care that he would possibly die, he only cared that George told him to do it which is
much more important to him. When George went to save him from his

economic espionage are punishable under the same penalties. The EEA is particularly severe
with people or corporations who steal trade secrets in order to benefit foreign countries or foreign
agents (LaMance). Penalties under the EEA of 1996 if a person is found guilty can be fined up to

Myths Are Stories That Express Meaning, Morality Or...
Myths are stories that express meaning, morality or motivation. Whether they are true or not is
irrelevant. This was quoted by writer Michael Shermer, and it still holds today. This quote
displays that myths have the power to take the reader away from reality and launch them into a
world of mystery and phenomena. Also, even if myths have different stories and different
characters, they all in some way portray regular societal values. For example, The Fisherman and
The Jinnee , Sifrit , and Song of Roland all tell divergent stories with very diverse characters. But
by the end, they all portray the values of righteousness and how one man, or herocan rescue an
entire society.
A myth is an image of terms in which we try to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They eventually race in the woods to get drinks and when it is not suspicious, Hagen stabs Sifrit in
the weak spot with a lance. Gunther kills Hagen immediately after. Once Chriemhilde hears of what
happened, she begins to kill most of those who were involved with his murder. However, she
eventually gets killed by the Huns.
In Roland, the main hero Rollanz is a powerful, courageous, and determined hero who is
protected by ruler Charlemagne. In the 7 year war, he had to influence an army through an
ambush by himself. As the warrior he is, he fights the battle rather than calling in reinforcements.
However, this lead to the tragic death of his comrade Olivier, and most of his soldiers. Towards
the end, he blew the oil paint which hollered for help to aid the rest of his people. This decision
lead to his death, which makes him a martyr. Roland is similar to the myths of Sundiata and
Fisherman and the Jinnee because of their actions and decision making made them heroes in their
respective myths. Each of these myths have a hero either protecting their loved ones, or saving their
loved ones from danger. In Sundiata, the griot is illustrated as brave, due to his willingness to slay
enemies left and right, while disregarding his own safety in battle, much like Rollanz. However, in
the Fisherman and the Jinnee, the main fisherman does not use violence but instead he uses his
genius intellect to take himself out of tough situations. This shows that these

Othello is famously regarded as one of Shakespeare s greatest tragedies. It explores the downfall
of a great general Othello through a series of unlucky circumstances. Othello s character shows a

Othello is too old and that he will not be around with his job for long. The play would have

language that Iago uses, Rouse him, make after him, poison his delight also In personal suit to

army. While this was all going on Othello and Desdemona were secretly getting married.
Roderigo and Iago hear of this news and go straight to Brabantio, Desdemona s father, to wake

Erosion of Shorelines Essays
Erosion of Shorelines
The erosion of shorelines is a natural process that can have beneficial or adverse impacts on the
creation and maintenance of habitats. Sands and gravels eroded from the shores of coastal bays
maintain the beach as a natural barrier between the open water and coastal wetlands. Beaches move
back and forth onshore, offshore and along shore with changing wave conditions. The finer
grained silts and clays derived from the erosion of shorelines are sorted and carried as far as the
waters of wetlands or tidal flats, where benefits are derived from addition of the new material.
However, excessively high sediment loads can smother submerged aquatic vegetation beds, cover
shellfish beds and tidal flats, fill in riffle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The longshore drift shapes the coastline by carrying sand from sites of high wave activity to those
of low wave activity. The volume of sand carried away from or delivered to different points along
the coast can be as much as 2,000 cubic meters per day (71,000 cubic feet), enough sand to fill an
Olympic sized swimming pool (Nepf).
The seepage of ground water and the overland flow of surface water runoff also contribute to the
erosion of shorelines (http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/NPS/MMGI/Chapter6/ch6 4.html). The role of
ground water is most important wherever permeable subsurface layers of sand are exposed in high
bluffs along coastal bays. In these areas, the seepage of ground water into the waterway can cause
erosion at the point of exit. The surface flow of upland runoff can also dislodge sediments through
the creation of rills and gullies on the shoreline banks and bluffs (http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/NPS
/MMGI/Chapter6/ch6 4.html).
Some amount of natural erosion is necessary to provide the sediment for beaches in estuaries and
coastal bays. However, excessive erosion has occurred in the past due to development. Industrial
and private development along the world s coastlines has increased dramatically since the 1970s
(Nepf). Developers and builders completed much of this construction without taking into account
the effects of coastal erosion. New buildings were often placed too close to the existing shoreline
so that

Julius Caesar Ethos Pathos Logos Essay
Ethos, Pathos, Logos
Some of the most famous writers from William Shakespeare to John Green have used three
different persuasive techniques for several years. Have you ever heard of ethos, pathos, and
logos? In the famous tragedy of Julius Caesar the author William Shakespeare uses ethos, pathos,
and logos for persuading something or someone. In Julius Caesar Shakespeare uses these traits in
Brutus s and Antony s funeral speeches to persuade the citizens of Rome to hear them out. In the
tragedy Caesar was the emperor of Rome until his own senators killed him. The senators claimed
they had to kill him because he was getting to ambitious and it was getting worse. They had to save
the citizens before they start to get hurt by Caesar s actions. The most ethos, pathos, and logos takes
place at the funeral when Brutus and Antony talk about why Caesar had to die. Ethos, Pathos, and
logos are all used in the tragedy of Julius Caesar s funeral scene, some more effectively than others
but they are all used to persuade the crowd one way or another.

Here Brutus is trying to get the citizens at the funeral to listen to him because of his reputation of
being an honorable man. Shakespeare uses ethos in not only in Brutus speech but also in Antony
s. In front of Caesars body Antony says, He was my friend, faithful and just to me. (III.ii.82).
Antony is saying that Caesar was always fair and only a friend like him would understand that.
Antony says I will not do them wrong; I rather choose to wrong the dead, to wrong myself and
you, than I will wrong such honorable men. (III.ii.122 124). Here Antony is using a strong sense
of ethos because he is showing his character by proving himself a worthy man to Rome. Brutus
tends to really get the audience appealed to his reasoning by using ethos which led to his success of
winning the citizens

Reasons For The French Revolution
There were many causes that led to the French Revolution. Class, money, and philosophes were
three major factors that contributed to the French Revolution. The most important cause was
money. These factors resulted in Louis The Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette being executed, and the
reign of Napoleon to begin.
Class conflicts are a huge component of the French Revolution. The French Revolution began as a
result of the lack of the people s happiness over how they were told to live their lives. There were
three estates. The first estate being the clergy, the second estate being the nobility, and the third
estate being the bourgeoisie (commoners). The first and second estate consisted of very few people,
but was given most of the money, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the first and second estate voted that the bourgeoisie should pay all the taxes, the
bourgeoisies was outvoted and was forced to keep paying all of the taxes. The nobility and
clergy were very greedy, especially the clergy. Their morals were supposed to be more focused
on the word of god, instead of being focused on the material aspects of life on Earth. The clergy
was supposed to be kind and helpful, instead of selfish. Since the clergy was greedy, it lead
France to be in even more debt and have more conflicts. There were many privileges only given to
the upper classes, which made it unfair. At the beginning of the French Revolution, the bourgeoisie
became very fed up with the inequalities within the classes. To deal with the inequalities, the estates
decided to gather in the tennis courts and take an oath called the Tennis court Oath. The Tennis
court Oath stated that they would not leave until a new constitution was created. In the end, a new
constitution was created and a new form of government was put into place. The new government
was called the national assembly. The national assembly lasted from 1789 1799 but was then
abolished as it upset many people in France because the priorities of the National Assemblies
decisions did not meet the people s needs.
Money was also a major factor to the French Revolution. Once Louis The Sixteenth and Marie
Antoinette became absolute monarchs in 1774, they lavishly spent money. The couple

Santa Wishes For Dying Tennessee Boy
Santa Grants Wish for Dying Tennessee Boy Santa is known for his gift and wish granting
abilities. Over the years, countless children have had wishes granted by the Jolly Elf. But, none
of those wishes are as powerful as the one professional Santa portrayer Eric Schmitt Matzen was
able to grant for a young, terminally ill child in Tennessee. The gift started when Schmitt Matzen
received a call from a nurse at the local hospital. She informed him that there was a very sick 5
year old who wanted to see Santa. Naturally, the good hearted man headed straight to the hospital
to see the boy. Sadly, the boy only had a little longer to live and this would be the last time he
would have the chance to see Santa. After rushing to the hospital, Schmitt Matzen

The Black Panther is a group or a party of African Americans that was formed to protect blacks
from the white law enforcement. Established in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. The

The 1985 Bears
The 1985 bears have always been known for their defense and people have gave the defense the
credits to why they won the championship. But their offense which had some of the best players
football has produced, from the trenches to the back field. I m going to compare this team with
other teams such as the 72 dolphins and the 2007 patriots. The 1984 Bears had a rough season
going 10 6 and not making it to the playoffs. The head coach NFL football HOF Mike Ditka was
set to make a change on the upcoming season. With a new starting QB Jim McMahon and arguable
one of the best RB in the NFL, Walter Payton, who would later go on to the HOF and die in 1999
to liver disease. The 1985 Bears didn t have any major receivers so the offense relied on the OB and
the RB. the 1985 Bears had 11 all pro players and 9 pro bowl players. And produced 4 HOF players

They are who the 85 bears are mostly compared to. In 1972 the Dolphins completed a 14 0
season then going on to win the super bowl. They are the only team in NFL history to ever do
this. The only other teams that came close to this were the 85 bears and the 07 Patriots.
Something all three of these teams have in common are a great quarterback. The dolphins had
Earal Morrall, the 85 Bears had Jim McMahon, and the patriots had who is considered the best
quarterback in NFL history Tom Brady.
In my opinion the 1985 Bears are the best team in the NFL. they overcame the doubt of all
people because of a previous season and not only did they almost have an undefeated season the
won the SuperBowl, and had very successful players in further years. Even though the dolphins
went undefeated, they played in a different time a 13 year gap, the game was completely different.
So in my opinion the 1985 Chicago Bears are the best team in NFL

How Does The Brain Drain Be Hot Potatoes Throughout The...
For years, brain drain issues have been hot potatoes throughout the world. Brain drain is also
academically known as the human capital flight, refers to the large scale migration of highly
educated, skilled and talented people of developing countries to highly developed countries of the
world (Wikipedia, 2016). The brain drain originated in 1960, when most of human resources like
scientists, engineers, and technologists emigrated from United Kingdom to America (Wikipedia,
2016). This phenomenon has become a global issue, and it is happening all over the world in
particular for developing countries. China, which is the largest population country with a
remarkable economic growth, is also suffering from severe brain drain issues. In recent years,
China is one of countries facing the highest loss of top talented people. An official from mainland
China s Office of Central Talent Work Coordination Group noted that estimated 87 percent of
talented individuals choose to stay overseas, particularly in the fields of science and engineering
(Zhang, 2013). China is also considered as the biggest worldwide contributor of emigrants
(Wikipedia, 2016). In the United States, Chinese immigrants make up the largest group of arrivals
a year and Chinese immigrants are growing in number. The Census Bureau says China replaced
Mexico as the top country of origin for immigrants to the U.S. in 2013 (Lee, 2015).

Webserver Implementation On FPGA Using NIOSII Processor
Introduction:
It s an undeniable fact that the Network systems domain is growing rapidly and almost on a daily
basis there are new applications and systems that require Networking processors and controllers.
Also with each new application the features required from a controller or processor also keeps
changing. Various microcontroller manufacturers have come up with various microcontroller
families to cater to these requirements. But the problem with these is that of interoperability i.e. the
architecture, the programming tools, languages, debugging and testing tools vary vastly and hence
becomes a major limiting factor.

War Photographer by Carol Ann Duffy Essay
War Photographer by Carol Ann Duffy
War Photographer by Carol Ann Duffy is based on a war photographer who has experienced and
witnessed the reality of war. The war photographer has returned to his quite home in England from
his latest job. He develops the spools of film, he took in the frontline. As he organizes the pictures,
he remembers the terrifying situation he is in, A stranger s features faintly start to twist before his

will choose the ones to be printed. However, the war photographer knows the pictures will not have

It also indicates the ignorance of the public as they are not fully informed about the tragedy of war
so they have no idea of the circumstances of war as most photographs are not being published.
The darkness in his room, in his darkness he is finally alone , is a reflection of his depressed
feeling in remembrance of the awful events he has witnessed. The horrific experience is so long
lasting, which will dwell in his memory continually as represents by run on lines.
The simile chosen to compare the photographer with a priest preparing to intone a mass is
effective. The reader can clearly picture the inside of a catholic church in their mind, with red lights
glowing softly. It also assures that what the photographer is doing is holy and heroic as danger and
risks are involved, fields which explode beneath the feet of running children in a nightmare heat.
But the photographer still accepts the challenge.
As for the sound effect, the alliteration of the s sound, with spools of suffering set out in ordered
rows , illustrates the silent and isolated atmosphere the photographer is in the photographic studio.
With eyes rhyming with cries , it heightens our sympathy towards the victims in war as it appeals
to both the readers sense of hearing and seeing. Not only does the suffering turn out to be more

New Journalism
Is New Journalism a literary genre? Analyse with reference to the literary techniques used in two
examples of New Journalism.
Word Count 2231
I suppose the most common sense point at which to start is by defining New Journalism, or
Literary Journalism, as Eisenhuth and McDonald (2007, p. 38) say it is called at the upper end of
the spectrum.
The Collins Concise Dictionary (1999, p. 995) defines New Journalism as a style of journalism,
using techniques borrowed from fiction to portray a situation of event as vividly as possible.
Wikipedia (2010) defines it as a style of 1960s and 1970s news writing and journalism that used
literary techniques deemed unconventional at the time.
The meaning of New Journalism has evolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, Capote, along with Mailer and many other authors, never agreed to their style s
comparisons to Wolfe s school of narration. Much to the contrary, many of these writers would deny
that their work was generically relevant to other new Journalists at the time.
In a 1966 Atlantic article, Dan Wakefield said that the non fiction work of Capote elevated
reporting to the level of literature. Although praising the work of Capote, this goes some way in
saying that literature is better than journalism. This is evidence for what Capote said his critics felt:
Combining literature and journalism is little more than a literary solution for fatigued novelists.
(Plimpton, 1967, p. 16)
Newfield (1967, p. 20) said that, This new genre defines itself by claiming many of the techniques
that were once the unchallenged terrain of the novelist: tension, symbol, cadence, irony, prosody,
imagination.
Gay Talese s 1966 article for Esquire magazine, Frank Sinatra Has a Cold, was a very influential
piece of New Journalism that gave a very detailed portrait of Frank Sinatra, without ever having
interviewed him.
Talese undertook huge amounts of research, as did many of the New journalists, including Capote
with In Cold Blood. Unlike Capote, Talese did not invent facts of characters. His article is,
therefore, an example of New Journalism that falls under the category of a journalistic genre, as
opposed to a distinct

The Good Shepherd Village ( Gsv )
The Good Shepherd Village (GSV) located on 300 acres in a semi rural community within easy
driving distance of Philadelphia had history of more than 20 years. In the facility, GSV has 570
independent living units 120 licensed nursing card beds, 30 assisted living beds and 20 studio
units. The management team at GSV is very conservative, they nervous to make changes or adapt
to some new ideas.
Key players
The key player in the case is Pat Evans, became Director of Health Services for six months at
GSV, and he noticed two main issues at GSV, 1) most of the decisions for levels of care are
economic driven; 2) weak correlation between each department.
Therefore, he promotes his idea about integrated delivery system to the board, and he forms a group
called The Geriatric assessment and Care Planning Team which gather medical, rehabilitation, social
services, nursing staffs to work together on resident health assessment. But his plan bristled with
difficulties.
Some other key players are Reverend Kathleen Mueller, the chair of board, she strong supports
the plan; Dr. Alexis Schmidt who is Medical Director, he deeply disagrees Pat s idea about
integrated delivery systems; Bill Wagner, executive director, Dr. Schmidt and she make the final
decision to determine the residents level of care, and she has concern of pat s plan as well. And
there are also some minor players like, Louise Richards, chief physical therapist; Maggie Newman,
Director of nursing.

Rejected Lrt Routes By Bay Street
REJECTED LRT ROUTES
Another line we considered using but ultimately rejected was Bay street as there are too many
residential areas along that road. For instance, from Aberdeen avenue to Jackson street we noted
that there is an array of Condos and homes. Furthermore, it is a one way road with only two lanes,
meaning that there isn t enough room for a LRT, construction would have to include first widening
the road then putting in the LRT, access to the road would be virtually cut off during the time of
construction. What s More, there is no mountain access from bay street, meaning the LRT would
have to make its way over to James or to Queen to use their mountain access. This would cause
major, unnecessary construction and the LRT... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

would only add to the infrastructure invested in that area The area has already been made a

the area from our field work, the area is not that busy so constuction won t affect that many people

lower middle income families live that an LRT would help tremendously for purposes of traveling

despite its surroundings being revamped it still appears to need some work. Also it is the

also close to the Hamilton Farmers market which we noticed from our field work had a lot of

made it the longest monarch to still be on the throne than anybody else and that also means she

2002 and that is why they waited till June to give her the Golden Jubilee. The Golden Jubilee has

Religion In The Film Silence
The film, Silence, has a myriad of characters that are on a spectrum of religious belief. There are
certain characters that show an immense devotion to their faith, willing to risk their life and the
lives of others to profess their fidelity to God. Although this film highlights two Jesuit priests,
Father Sebastian Rodrigues and Father Francisco Garupe, there is an interesting contrasting
devotion from the Inquisition to Buddhism. They have no tolerance for Christianity and believe it
to be a cancer that must be cut from Japan. The priests go to great lengths to find a third priest,
Father Cristovao Ferreira, who has gone missing while operating as a missionary. Father Ferreira
ends up getting captured, recants his faith, and sides with the Inquisition, helping them investigate
objects hidden as Christian relics. There are many applicable ideas relating to religious
fundamentalismwithin the film.
Sigmund Freud and William James differ on the explanation of religious experience. James focuses
on religion as feelings and experiences of an individual. For the most part the religious experience
is felt instead of a concept. James also believes that religion is not linear or homogenous. There are
different perceptions or involvement one has with their faith. A great example of contrasting
persons within their religious experiences in the film, Silence, is Father Rodrigues and Yosulu
Kubozuka (Kichijiro). The viewer would most likely consider Father Rodrigues as the main

In 1884, the convict leasing takes place. The Convict leasing is renting or leasing of prisoners to private business owners or company for their labor. Debt Peonage during 1870 is paying off a debt through labor when the debtor lacks sufficient cash or other assets. This way of paying debt is not to isolate and was seen throughout the whole country. The abolishment of slaveryis the cause of the enactment of convict leasing and peonage. After the Civil War of 1861 to 1865, finding labor became difficult for land owners. No one would believe them because they have less respect in society. As we learned in class from the video Slavery by Another name . In her new book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness , Michelle Alexander talks about convict leasing camps being in many ways worse than slavery (page 21). She explains the new way African Americanare enslaved by the system. They being enslave by the use of drugs especially crack. White supremacy is the main goal, for the white race to be the superior race than any other races. Incarcerating African American has been ongoing problems. The new enslavement is through racism which the after effect of the Civil War. The New Jim Crow is about how the black code created a separation between races. The black code is intended to establish systems of peonage and to create another system of forced labor (28). • 3. The Golden Age The Golden Age of detective fiction refers to both specific sub genre and (the cozy) and the historical period (the interwar years) (James, 2009). It is loosely defined as a soft boiled detective fiction released between the two wars (World War 1 and World War 2). The Golden age of detective fiction was arguably caused by the interwar period (James, 2009). This paper seeks to discuss, with references to the fictions of Agatha Christie and other canonical Golden Age texts, why the Detection fiction of the interwar period was described as a Golden Age. During this period, the detective novels were largely characterized by their intellectual games between the reader and author, and the clue based mysteries (Scaggs, 2005). In this era, a Detection Club that consisted of renowned detective authors, agreed on rules that a writer of detective fictionwas to operate. One of these rules was the Cluepuzzle. From the clues, both the reader and detective were to ensure they drew rational conclusions. Other rules agreed upon included the crime, the detective, the setting, and the criminal. These rules made the Golden Age a distinct sub genre within the context of crime fiction. It was during this period that the spinster detectives became more popular, especially on the fictional stage. Prior to this era, detectives were dominated by men, with women taking the roles of villains or victims. Women rarely played a role of the main protagonists (Scaggs, 2005). To this effect, women ... • 4. Addiction To Heroin Essay Heroin is an illegal opioid drug that is synthesized of morphine. The substance occurs in the Asian opium poppy plant naturally and is then extracted ( DrugFacts:Heroin ). Heroin can be taken in many different ways including being inhaled, injected or smoked. It creates a reaction within the body that gives the user a feeling of euphoria and what is typically described as a rush . It is estimated that about 23 percent of users become dependent ( Genetic Susceptibility ). Heroin addictionis a chronic relapsing disease and sufferers show symptoms such as compulsive drug seeking, abuse, tolerance and physical dependence. Addiction to heroin is a worldwide public health crisis. Today more people are using heroin, sometimes they start using because they have become addicted to prescription painkillers. A study conducted by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration showed that people who abuse painkillers, such as OxyContin are 19 times more likely to start using heroin, 8 out of 10 people who started using heroin abused painkillers first (Bellum. 2014). Both heroin and painkillers belong to the same class of drugs. They attach to opioid receptors in the brain, spinal cord, intestines, and other organs and decrease the feeling of pain ( Effects, Signs, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2014). Although the general population is not excluded, abuse is more common in those with mental health disorders, such as depressed individuals or those with anxiety ( Connection to Substance Abuse ). Many studies have been done and they show that approximately half of those who suffer from mental illness are also substance abusers ( Mental Health Disorders ). This poses an issue of a dual diagnosis. In most cases, this goes unnoticed due to the fact that many symptoms of addiction and mental illness are the same ( Connection to Substance ... • 5. Government Spending On Welfare And The Gross Domestic Product Introduction Various governments send out information regarding how various tax revenues are utilizes on people who pay these taxes. Spending is always broken into numerous categories and welfare is one of the biggest categories. Expenditure on welfare is directly extracted from government statistics[1]. There has been a great debate as to whether government spending on welfare has any relationship with the size of a country s GDP[2]. As such, this research is meant to demystify the situation. The purpose of carrying out this research is to examine any underlying correlation between the government spending in welfare of the people and the gross domestic product. There are two hypotheses as far as this subject is concerned. One sates that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, people who are working in countries that have better welfare will be in a better position to work and hence help build the GDP. Hence, carrying out the research will help the researcher be able to choose between the two hypotheses and hence determine whether government expenditure on welfare effects the growth of the GDP or stagnation of the same. Literature Review The question of whether or not there is a correlation between government spending on welfare and the GDP has thrown policy makers into debates and clearly differing theoretical camps[3]. Empirical studies have given confusing evidence as some of the studies have favored one approach or the other depending on many factors in consideration. The huge growth of government spending on the welfare of the people in both development and developing countries since the times of the Second World War and its effect on the gross domestic product has produced a wide literature that offers distinct attempts to expound on the observed relationship[4]. On the other side, studies on public finance have been channels on the identification of the primary causes of the growth in public sector expenditure. Among the earliest trials to explain, the growth in the economic growth and expenditure in the public sector is Wagner s Law. This law is based on the observations of Adolf Wagner. His observations were first for his country and then for rest of the world. He states that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Correlation Between Motivation And Achievement Brown and Wahlberg designed a study in which they intended to demonstrate an independent causal relationship between motivation and achievement (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). They purported to have devised a study with a randomized assignment of students to conditions eliciting different degrees of motivation (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 134). The question for the researchers remained what is the effect of experimentally manipulated motivational conditions on elementary math scores (Brown Wahlberg, 1993, p. 133). The study remains a randomized quantitative mixed methods quasi experimental study of 406 heterogeneously grouped students in third, fourth and sixth through eighth grades in Chicago Public Schools (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Three schools were selected to participate in the study. The student populations in each school were described as lower middle working class and predominantly Hispanic and African American (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). Respective of each school, two classes were randomly selected out of each grade level and randomly assigned to experimental groups. The participant groups were administered the Mathematics Concept subtest of the Iowa Basic Skills (ITBS) 1978, Levels 9 14. The ITBS was selected for its high reliability rating of 0.85 and its correlation with school curriculum (Brown Wahlberg, 1993). The aldehyde groups of glutaraldehyde form covalent imine bonds with amino groups of gelatin. Initially different concentrations of gelatin were used (4%, 5%, 6% and 8% respectively). On physical examination of the cryogels produced with these concentrations, it was observed that at higher concentration of gelatin polymer(8%) the rate of polymerization was very fast and hence cryogel sheets formed were not proper. As the percentage of gelatin was increased the amount of cross linker required was low i.e., the amount of cross linker required decreases with increase in monomer concentration. Increase in polymer concentration also leads to less elasticity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Decrease in glutaraldehyde cross linker on increasing the polymer precursor might be happening due to the increased probability of colliding polymers and cross linking agent in this unfrozen liquid microphase where all chemical reactions take place. More probability of colliding might be decreasing the amount of glutaraldehyde required to crosslink polymers for gel synthesis. It was also observed that if the amount of glutaraldehyde used was more than the optimum concentrations (Table 1.1), the gel formed lack porous network and were tough and brittle. When the glutaraldehyde concentration was reduced and kept lower than the optimized one, the gels were weak in mechanical strength. This observation suggests that there seems to be some competition between the nucleation process which takes place in frozen regions and gelation process which takes place in unfrozen liquid microphase. When the concentration of glutaraldehyde was lower than optimum, nucleation process dominates the gelation process and the gels formed were weak due to large pores and less polymer wall formation by cross linking of polymers. When glutaraldehyde quantity was taken more than optimum, gelation dominates the nucleation process and the gels formed were without any pores and were brittle. I can also apply the concept that quality care is an important aspect of a person s life to other situations as well. For example, I will have to make sure that my child has a qualified pediatrician and dentist to take care of his health needs in the future. I will also have to ensure that my child gets his vaccinations. Moreover, I learned that there is no substitute for being prepared for an emergency situation. I plan on researching the response time of our police and fire departments and plan to learn about the efficiency of our ambulance services. • 16. Analysis Of Studio 8 Discussion Studio 8 Discussion The coefficient of static friction between brass and different materials were experimentally determined by observing slip angels. A brass block was placed at the top of different ramps made of rubber, wood, sandpaper, and Teflon. Once the angle of the ramp was raised high enough the block began to slip, the angle at this point was measured. Static friction reaches a maximum at the slip angle, thus allowing the block to slip. Vector components, Newton s second law, and the equation fs= Вµsn, can be used to derive the equation Вµs = tan(Жџ); the static coefficient of friction equals tan(Жџ) of the slip angle. God will not share His glory with another. Those who are used by God must quickly learn that everything that is revealed, prophesied or ministered is from Him and not from themselves. The prophetic ministry is paralleled to the dead womb of Sarah. There was no possibility that Sarah could conceive of herself only a resurrection miracle could produce an Issac. The prophet does not hold the office because of his looks, intelligence, insight, deep hunger for God, or consecration. The office is given according to grace, election and divine appointment. These things have nothing to do with the vessel aside of accepting what God has ordained. God abhors pride because it has its roots in Lucifer s rebellion. The attitude of the class depends on the attitudes of the individuals in the classroom, as well as the educator s attitude. The educators role is to use their knowledge, skill and behaviour to create an effective and positive learning environment in their classroom (Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman, 2008). Every individual identifies with a different theory and may be motivated differently. However, motivation, irrelevant of how it is achieved is either intrinsic or extrinsic. Extrinsic motivation refers to motivating factors that are external, like money or grades. These rewards provide additional satisfaction and pleasure that are not necessarily gained from the task performed. On the other hand intrinsic motivation comes from inside an individual and refers to the person s inner desire for success (Coetzee et al, 2008). Outcomes based education has increased the need for learners to take responsibility for their own education; as a result intrinsic motivation has become more relevant. Intrinsic motivation happens when a learners self efficiency (personal competence) and determination (personal control) to succeed occur at the same time. For example, The Fisherman and The Jinnee , Sifrit , and Song of Roland all tell divergent stories with very diverse characters. In Roland, the main hero Rollanz is a powerful, courageous, and determined hero who is protected by ruler Charlemagne. In the 7 year war, he had to influence an army through an ambush by himself. It explores the downfall of a great general Othello through a series of unlucky circumstances. Othello s character shows a man of high status whose job, marriage and life is ruined because of his insecurities by a man named Iago. Iago (Othello s ensign) is able to manipulate Othello, Othello s wife Desdemona and his own friend Roderigo (a Venetian gentleman). Roderigo argues that he deserves to take Desdemona s hand in marriage. His secret love for her drives him crazy inside at every sight he sees her and Othello together. The play would have opened up with this conversation in the dark. It goes with the low yet angry dark toned language that Iago uses, Rouse him, make after him, poison his delight also In personal suit to make me his lieutenant; off capped to him . He is irritated after not getting the position in the army. While this was all going on Othello and Desdemona were secretly getting married. Roderigo and Iago hear of this news and go straight to Brabantio, Desdemona s father, to wake him and tell him of his daughter s whereabouts. The swearing and shouting by Iago and Roderigo towards Brabantio, would catch the attention of the audience. They would be eager to understand what is going on. There were no special effects so listening carefully to the characters was the only way you would understand what was happening. This made it a good idea to open the play during the night. • 40. Erosion of Shorelines Essays Erosion of Shorelines The erosion of shorelines is a natural process that can have beneficial or adverse impacts on the creation and maintenance of habitats. Sands and gravels eroded from the shores of coastal bays maintain the beach as a natural barrier between the open water and coastal wetlands. Beaches move back and forth onshore, offshore and along shore with changing wave conditions. The finer grained silts and clays derived from the erosion of shorelines are sorted and carried as far as the waters of wetlands or tidal flats, where benefits are derived from addition of the new material. However, excessively high sediment loads can smother submerged aquatic vegetation beds, cover shellfish beds and tidal flats, fill in riffle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The longshore drift shapes the coastline by carrying sand from sites of high wave activity to those of low wave activity. The volume of sand carried away from or delivered to different points along the coast can be as much as 2,000 cubic meters per day (71,000 cubic feet), enough sand to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool (Nepf). The seepage of ground water and the overland flow of surface water runoff also contribute to the erosion of shorelines (http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/NPS/MMGI/Chapter6/ch6 4.html). The role of ground water is most important wherever permeable subsurface layers of sand are exposed in high bluffs along coastal bays. In these areas, the seepage of ground water into the waterway can cause erosion at the point of exit. The surface flow of upland runoff can also dislodge sediments through the creation of rills and gullies on the shoreline banks and bluffs (http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/NPS /MMGI/Chapter6/ch6 4.html). Some amount of natural erosion is necessary to provide the sediment for beaches in estuaries and coastal bays. However, excessive erosion has occurred in the past due to development. Industrial and private development along the world s coastlines has increased dramatically since the 1970s (Nepf). Developers and builders completed much of this construction without taking into account the effects of coastal erosion. New buildings were often placed too close to the existing shoreline so that ... • 41. Julius Caesar Ethos Pathos Logos Essay Ethos, Pathos, Logos Some of the most famous writers from William Shakespeare to John Green have used three different persuasive techniques for several years. Have you ever heard of ethos, pathos, and logos? In the famous tragedy of Julius Caesar the author William Shakespeare uses ethos, pathos, and logos for persuading something or someone. In Julius Caesar Shakespeare uses these traits in Brutus s and Antony s funeral speeches to persuade the citizens of Rome to hear them out. In the tragedy Caesar was the emperor of Rome until his own senators killed him. The senators claimed they had to kill him because he was getting to ambitious and it was getting worse. They had to save the citizens before they start to get hurt by Caesar s actions. The most ethos, pathos, and logos takes place at the funeral when Brutus and Antony talk about why Caesar had to die. Ethos, Pathos, and logos are all used in the tragedy of Julius Caesar s funeral scene, some more effectively than others but they are all used to persuade the crowd one way or another. The most important cause was money. These factors resulted in Louis The Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette being executed, and the reign of Napoleon to begin. Class conflicts are a huge component of the French Revolution. The French Revolution began as a result of the lack of the people s happiness over how they were told to live their lives. The clergy was supposed to be kind and helpful, instead of selfish. Since the clergy was greedy, it lead France to be in even more debt and have more conflicts. There were many privileges only given to the upper classes, which made it unfair. At the beginning of the French Revolution, the bourgeoisie became very fed up with the inequalities within the classes. To deal with the inequalities, the estates decided to gather in the tennis courts and take an oath called the Tennis court Oath. The Tennis court Oath stated that they would not leave until a new constitution was created. In the end, a new constitution was created and a new form of government was put into place. The new government was called the national assembly. The national assembly lasted from 1789 1799 but was then abolished as it upset many people in France because the priorities of the National Assemblies decisions did not meet the people s needs. Money was also a major factor to the French Revolution. Once Louis The Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette became absolute monarchs in 1774, they lavishly spent money. The couple ... In a 1966 Atlantic article, Dan Wakefield said that the non fiction work of Capote elevated reporting to the level of literature. Although praising the work of Capote, this goes some way in saying that literature is better than journalism. This is evidence for what Capote said his critics felt: Combining literature and journalism is little more than a literary solution for fatigued novelists. (Plimpton, 1967, p. 16) Newfield (1967, p. 20) said that, This new genre defines itself by claiming many of the techniques that were once the unchallenged terrain of the novelist: tension, symbol, cadence, irony, prosody, imagination. Gay Talese s 1966 article for Esquire magazine, Frank Sinatra Has a Cold, was a very influential piece of New Journalism that gave a very detailed portrait of Frank Sinatra, without ever having interviewed him.
