 Concrete which is made from industrial wastes that are eco-
friendly are called as “Green concrete”.
 Green concrete was first invented in Denmark in the year
1998.
 Resembles the conventional concrete but it is very cheap,
durable and it requires only minimum amount of energy..
 It works a greater part in decreasing CO2 emission which is
very important to our country.
 Green means ‘Environment’, concrete is obtained from the
waste industrial products. Thus it is called as ‘GREEN
CONCRETE’.
 Global warming is one of the major threats to the
environment. The major principle of global warming is CO2
emission.
 Concrete is one of the major way for CO2 emission.
 Concrete emits 10% of total CO2 emission.
 But the green concrete which uses waste products which is
not threat to environment will decrease the CO2 emission by
10%.
 Huge impact on sustainability
 Most widely used material on Earth
 30% of all materials flows on the planet
 70% of all materials flows in the built environment.
 >2.1 billion tons per annum.
 >15 billion tons poured each year.
 Over 2 tons per person per annum
• Optimizes use of available materials
• Better Performance
• Enhanced cohesion workability / consistency
• Reduced shrinkage / creep
• Durability - Better service life of concrete
• Reduced carbon footprint

• The concrete industry also uses industrial waste by
products such as fly ash and blast furnace slag to
constitute of the cement used in producing concrete.

• 10% of CO2 emissions can reduced by using
green concrete.
• So INDIA has the scope of GREEN
CONCRETE.
