Theology Reflection
In every field of study there is tension in definitions, but in theology, the word theology itself is full of
tension. On one hand, it is almost indescribable because it studies God who is without perfect
description, but on the other hand St. Anselm s statement, faith seeking understanding seems to
describe with perfect flexibility what it means to practice theology. My intent is to attend Graduate
school at Marquette University so that I can dive deeper into the history, study, and communication of
what it means for faith to seek understanding. My faith began to seek understanding from an early age
as I entered Catholic schools and learned about what it meant to be Catholic. There, I was formed and
there I was raised: I grew to know and love the Church and God through my experiences in Catholic
schools. My teachers imparted to us the prayers and called us to do more than just pray the words: to
live out the words within our lives. It was here I that I became compelled to question the systems of
justice in the world and in the church. My sister, born with a cognitive disability, was told she could
not receive the Eucharist when it came time for her first communion. This prompted my family to
dedicate time and work to make and create spaces in the Church for people with disabilities. In the
space of Catholic schools, my faith needed understanding; it needed theology, which would illuminate
how to construct change to help open the doors to marginalized people in the public square to be
welcomed into the Church. During my time as an undergraduate student at the University of Dayton, I
continued to develop skills and knowledge assisting me in the process of faith seeking understanding.
I chose to pursue two degrees: a B.A. in religious studies and a B.S.E. in Secondary Catholic
Education. The former became my love, nothing excited me like going to a religion class. Here, I
learned about the methods behind theology and deepened my understanding of my religion and my
faith. My education degree formed me into someone more than just a teacher. My education degree
served me in more ways than just teaching in high schools because it taught me the invaluable skills of
communication, planning, research, and

Animal Testing Pros
Over the course of many years, makeup has been an important part of society. Not only is it used for
beauty, but also as a form of self expression. Popular makeup brands such as Maybelline, Covergirl,
and MAC are frequently advertised on TV, featuring celebrities to promote their latest lip products. At
the same time, consumers are not aware of what happens inside the laboratories that make them.
Every year, the U.S. Government spends billions of dollars on animal testing for cosmetics but those
animals in the lab are suffering, even when there are already more humane alternative ways to test
these products.
Annually, about $10 16 billion are funded to laboratories to test on animals, and more than a fourth of
that cost goes to cosmetic testing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the advanced technology and science in today s society, we can start testing by means of Vitro
testing. Vitro testing is the practice of testing on cells outside of the body rather than on live animals
and humans. The Corrositex is an example of a Vitro alternative to skin corrosion and skin
sensitization tests. According to the official Corrositex website, Corrositex is used to determine the
dermal corrosive potential of chemicals and chemical mixtures. This skin like subject is a substitute
for rabbit skin corrosion tests and skin sensitization on guinea pigs and mice. Another alternative to
live animal testing is the Bovine Corneal Opacity/Permeability assay, which substitutes for eye Draize
tests on rabbits. As stated by The MB Research Lab website, (BCOP) is an alternative ocular irritation
assay designed to replace the rabbit eye test. It is commonly used to test for eye irritation and
corrosive potential of test materials that may be used in our around the eye. As mentioned before,
testing on animals can be very expensive. However, when you compare the prices of animal testing to
Vitro testing, Vitro testing is less expensive. Eye Draize tests on rabbits are $1,800, but BCOP costs
$1,400. Skin corrosion tests on rabbits also cost the same amount as eye Draize tests, while Corrositex
only costs $500, which is a huge $1,300

Elisabeth Condon’s Nocturne vs. Vincent van Gogh’s The...
Similarity in theme and color first drew me to select Elisabeth Condon s Nocturne (Bob Rauschenberg
Gallery) and Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night (Frank 348) for this research paper. Initially I
wanted to pick two pieces that were different enough in order to form a decent comparison and yet
alike enough to connect them in some way. In the art gallery, Nocturne gave me a feeling similar to
the one I experienced when I first saw The Starry Night; there was something otherworldly and
mystical about it. It made you look at a greater expanse then the bit of landscape that was shown in an
unexpected way. Though each work was made in over a hundred year gap from the other, both works
use a brilliant use of color and a view of the sky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artist of Nocturne, Elisabeth Condon, was heavily influenced by the places she has visited. Her
own craft of improvisational paint pouring combined with the influence of Eastern art, specifically
Chinese scrolls, helps to create the unique presence that each painting holds. Her paintings, collages
and drawings use improvisational pours of paint, sketchbook drawings and digital projections to
establish idiosyncratic compositions. Heeding the Tang Dynasty dictum of landscape as a fusion of
observation and memory, they interweave external and internal perceptions of particular locations
(ABOUT: Biography). The Starry Night is an oil painting that depicts a small, nestled town under an
almost magical sky. This piece, much like Elisabeth s Nocturne, possesses a dominance of cool hues.
While both paintings depict a night sky, Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night actually leads the
observer s eyes through the painting due to it s brush strokes and fluidity. Although the work is very
fluid and almost kinetic, it is not overwhelming or busy. Its rhythm is purposeful, not noisy. In fact,
the painting almost gives off a calming, spiritual feeling to the viewer. The sky over the nestled town
is a swirl of blue, yellow, and orange tints and shades that demonstrates an almost ethereal influence
as if something greater is meant to be shown than what is simply before the observer. Radial

Tales Of Zestiria Religion Analysis
Many pieces of art created by Japanese culture originate from their religion, Shintoism and
Christianity. Many pieces of art created by Japanese culture originate from their religion of Shintoism
and Christianity, which are the two predominant religions in Japanese culture. Tales of Zestiria, a
Japanese videogame, clearly depicts the synthesis of both Shintoism and Christianity beliefs. The
virtual world of Tales of Zestiria contains beliefs of utilizing the power wielded by spiritual entities
seraphim. Seraphim are divine entities within nature that bestow the story s protagonist divine powers

When analyzing the elements of the videogame, the belief of obtaining divine powers through
seraphim will evoke prosperity to the world is the same belief Shintoism has when they pray to nature.
In traditional angelology of Christianity, seraphim are heavenly beings of light and purity, which is a
term used to portray the divine entities in Tales of Zestiria. Shintoism believe in divine spiritual beings
called kami (gods in their term). They pray on the kami and perform rituals, but they also believe the
kami are within nature as well. If they have tremendous amount of faith to the kami, they believe the
kami will grant them divine abilities to continue the prosperity between nature and humanity. There
practices maintain nature in balance and pray on the kami so they can be granted power to keep
humanity in balance. Their religion allows them to believe that humanity will one day cease their
conflict and live in peace. Christianity on the other hand believe in seraphim, which are mentioned in
the Christian bible as angels of god. Seraphim are described as messengers between heaven and earth.
Both Christianity and Shintoism beliefs are different, yet the world of Tales of Zestiria was created

Disadvantages Of Vertical Integration
Netflix could pursue multiple options in order to remain viable in the industry. In order to achieve
vertical integration Netflix would have to control two of the four aspects of the supply chain. Those
include commodities, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. There are many advantages to vertical
integration including control over the market (Amadeo, 2016). If Netflix could have a partnership with
the movie and television industry they could monopolize the online streaming industry and, therefore,
decrease cost to the consumer. By collaborating with the partners this would decrease cost to Netflix
and increase revenues. This would allow more offerings for the viewer and increase customer loyalty
and increase the customer base. Overall efficiency is improved when collaborating with supply
companies. A supply chain strategy is important to any company when making strategic decisions.
This improves the ability to effectively market products, and improves distribution of products to the
consumer (Ferrell, Hartline, 2014). Increased efficiency and control over quality are pros to vertical
intergration for Netflix.
The biggest disadvantage to vertical integration would be cost to the company. It is expensive ... Show

The Effects Of Dominance Aggression On Pet Dogs
Research Methods
Assessment One Critical Report
The authors of this particular research paper are Joaquin Perez Guisado and Andres Munoz Serrano.
The title of the article is Factors Linked to Dominance Aggression in Dogs and has been taken from
the Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances, Volume 8, Issue 2. The page numbers for the article
are 336 342 and the publish date is 2009. The main aim of this study was to determine factors that
might be linked to dominance aggression in pet dogs. The research carried out was qualitative and
involves the use of surveys and interviews, and explores certain factors relating to a topic. Qualitative
methods, such as interviews, are believed to provide a deeper understanding of social phenomena than
would be obtained from purely quantitative methods (Gill et al., 2008). There was significant
association between certain dog behaviour patterns and higher levels of dominance aggression. As a
whole, the research method and survey appears to have been considerably well done with only a few
adjustments to be made if it were to be repeated or further investigated.
The methodology for this article has both good and bad points to consider. For example the sample
size is very large and a total of 711 dogs were involved, with an equal amount (give or take a few) of
male and female dogs taking part. Only owners with dogs older than 12 months were interviewed and
there was a mixture of both pure bred and mixed breed dogs. A total of 47

Analysis Of Gloria Anzaldua s Poem, The And English, A...
Southwestern America is home to numerous cultures, all of which intermingle and interact on a daily
basis. This creates a wealth of literature and art from the perspective of those who live with such a
variation of experiences. Authors and artists experiencing the culture associated with being a part of
many communities show the culture as they see it through their work. One such author is Gloria
Anzaldua. In her poem, To Live in the Borderlands Means You, Gloria Anzaldua reveals her identity
as a multicultural woman and the struggles that she faces in doing so. She relates this through the use
of Spanish and English, first person perspective, and gender. Acculturation was first defined by
Redfield and colleagues as a phenomenon which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, the sight of Spanish within a work that is primarily English is unexpected, forcing readers to
take a moment to fully comprehend the text. Anzaldua s use of Spanish utilizes this quality, but it also
demonstrates her flexibility in language and the way that both Spanish and English play important
roles in how she identifies herself. Both languages are a part of Anzaldua, and applying them
acknowledges her refusal to conform into one simple stereotype or idea. The poem is written from the
second person perspective, placing the reader into Anzaldua s viewpoint. Anzaldua could easily
employ first person perspective, using the pronouns I or me to describe her experiences, yet she did
not. Instead, she uses the pronoun you. This is a bold choice that forces readers to see Anzaldua s
experience from her viewpoint. Second person perspective is evident before the poem is even read. To
Live in the Borderlands Means You is both the title and the phrase repeated in some form at the
beginning of each stanza. Such a strong statement acts almost as a call to action that captures readers
and tells them of the experience of living in the borderlands. Each stanza frames the reader as the
person experiencing life as Anzaldua experiences it, creating a more intimate relationship with the
text. First or third person perspective creates a narrative setup in which the poem is directed at the
world around the reader, giving them a view into the poem

The Dangers Of Self Esteem
In today s society, I believe that there are many possible hazards if we focus too much on heightening
the self esteem of children. One example is that children with very high self esteem could have a lack
of motivation in regards to academic assignments and exams. They may not feel the need to study or
put in the work to try their best due to the fact that they have the mentality of I m so smart, so I don t
need to study. Another example is that high self esteem could lead children to losing respect towards
authority. When children become too arrogant, they develop this know it all attitude. They feel that
they are better than the authority figure and there is no reason to respect them. All in all, too much
focus on heightening self esteem can cause children to lack high goals and expectations and influence
them to disrespect authority figures. Instead, we should focus on developing a secure self esteem in
which children feel comfortable and happy about themselves. We should teach children the idea that
not everyone is perfect and that they should accept their flaws. When children realize that they are not
perfect and can still make improvement, they can set goals for themselves and establish determination
to get better.

Rosenberg Spies
In 1951, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted of passing information to the Union of Soviet
Socialist
Republics (USSR) concerning the construction of nuclear weapons. In 1953, the United States
Government executed them. Some say, the Rosenbergs received their just punishment. Many
historians feel that the trial was unfair, and that international claims for clemency were wrongly
ignored. These historians claim that the Rosenbergs were assassinated by the US government. This

Fuchs was eager to talk. Apparently, Fuchs wanted to talk because he was very upset with the Soviet

Fuchs to disclose even more. Fuchs thought that if he owned up to his past, it would be forgotten, or at

FBI later found out from Fuchs that his contact was Raymond. They had only met a handful of times
and Fuchs did not know much about him. On March

Essay on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Case Study
Normal Anatomy and Physiology of Motor Function
The two components of the central nervous system (CNS) are the brain and the spinal cord.
Communication between the brain and the spinal cord happens through motor neurons, which are
nerve cells that enable motor movement. Each motor neuron is made up of a cell body, which holds all
the cell components, dendrites which send information it receives to the cell body, and an axon which
sends nerve impulses to the muscle (Porth Matfin, 2009). As electrical impulses are sent through the
motor neuron, it stimulates the muscle fibers in the body to move. This is the process in which motor
function happens. Therefore, the basic abilities to breathe, speak, swallow, walk and button a shirt are
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The manifestations of ALS are caused by the location of motor neuron death. When upper motor
neurons die, the symptoms include problems controlling fine movements, spasms, dysphagia,
dysphonia and dysarthria (Porth Matfin, 2009). Manifestations of lower motor neuron destruction
include fasciculations, weakness, muscle atrophy, and hyporeflexia (Porth Matfin, 2009, p. 1284).
Patients with early signs of ALS usually complain of feeling weak on one side, which is due to the
slowing of electrical impulses to that group of muscles (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). Since the
impulses are slowed, they are not receiving adequate electrical stimulation to move and the person
feels weak. As the disease progresses, all the motor neurons die and are not regenerated so, the patient
is left paralyzed, losing the ability to speak, swallow and breathe (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010).
A distinctive characteristic of ALS is that although the motor neurons die, the brain, cognitive
functions and sensory neurons stay intact (Porth Matfin, 2009). This makes the disease especially
devastating because patients become trapped inside their dying body, with a fully alert mind, but are
unable to move. It is not known what causes the exact death of the motor neurons in the body, but five
percent to 10% of cases are familial; the others are believed to be sporadic (Porth Matfin, 2009, p.

##tag s Catalysts In Guy Montag, By Ray Bradbury
Montag s Catalysts In the world of Guy Montag, a Fireman, firemen burn books, they start fires rather
than put them out. His world is filled with superficial relationships; media designed to control and
numb people, his society destroys the dangerous free thinkers. Montag enjoys his place in his world.
His job makes him feel good, like he is a protector of his world:
It was a special pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed. With the brass
nozzle in his fists, with this great python spitting its venomous kerosene upon the world, the blood
pounded in his head, and his hands were the hands of some amazing conductor playing all the
symphonies of blazing and burning to bring down the tatters and charcoal ruins of history. (Bradbury)
In Montag s world independent thoughts are dangerous and he is part of the control system, he burns
the source of the dangerous ideas, books. Against this bleak world there are three catalysts that
radically change Montag. A young girl named Clarisse, his boss Captain Beatty, and an old teacher
Professor Faber. These three people bring love, hate, and friendship into his life and cause him to
radically rethink his world.
On Montag s walk home from work one evening he meets a young 17 year old girl named Clarisse.
Through a series of questions, actions, and untimely death she causes Montag to examine his life.
Clarisse asks Montag Do you ever read any of the books you burn? (Bradbury 1). This simple

Popular Culture Film And Music
Popular culture film and music has long since been awash with drug references and imagery. The
context of these references has majorly affected the way in which they are received and perceived by
the wider public, expressly in times of social or political change and unrest. The context in which
these images and sounds are being interpreted affect the response to racial vilification, representation,
along with gender roles and stereotypes. Conventional practice in the entertainment industries has
developed over time but drugs, their users and dealers, including the consumption and production,
continue to be portrayed in a mainly negative light, showing the complexity of this particular social
process.
Context, being the time and place in which the medium is being produced, assumes a major
responsibility in the portrayal of drugs themselves, the user, the dealer and the trafficker. Zinberg s
(1984) description of drug use as drug, set and setting presents strongly in the notion of context. This
is evident in the portrayal of a drug on screen as it becomes increasingly popular amongst the public.
Social and political changes affect usage and its representation of drugs in a community and the wider
world. The 1960s and 70s saw a hippie, anti establishment counterculture emerge and with this came
an expansion of drug culture. Music and videos released at this time by The Beatles such as the

Sophie Scoholl Research Paper
Sophie Scholl and the White Rose Society We will not be silent. We are your bad conscience. The
White Rose will not leave you in peace! This piece of writing from the fourth White Rose leaflet is a
strong representation of how Sophie Scholl and the other White Rose creators felt about Hitler and his
Nazism. When the rise of Hitler came to be, majority of the German population were willing to follow
him or too scared to say otherwise. However, there was still a minority of people who were
completely anti Nazi and an even smaller portion who were willing to speak up about it. Within this
smaller portion were siblings Hans and Sophie Scholl and their group of university friends. Sophie
Scholl was known as the heart of the White Rose Society. This is the life of Sophie, her involvement
in the White Rose, and the impact that the White Rose had on her death.

...Hans and Sophie carried a large suitcase filled with copies of the sixth White Rose pamphlet into a
lecture hall at the University of Munich. They placed piles of the leaflets outside the classrooms, on
windowsills, and on the large stairway that led down to the main floor. They had just left the building
when Sophie suddenly realized that there were perhaps 100 more leaflets left in the suitcase. They
went back inside, climbed the stairs to the top top landing of the university s inner court, and tossed
the remaining leaflets into the air, just as students were exiting their lecture halls (Atwood).
This would sadly be the last act that they would do as free Germans. When they tossed the remaining
leaflets off of the top landing, a custodian named Jakob Schmid saw them just as the leaflets hit the
floor. They tried to escape in the crowd, but Schmid followed them and made sure that they were

Term Limits Essay
Term Limits There is a movement sweeping the United States that state legislatures, by virtue of the
Tenth Amendment, have the constitutional power to establish a new qualification for federal office,
specifically, a restriction on the number of terms their congressional delegations may serve in
Washington. The legal battleground covers two sections of the Constitution. Proponents of term limits
will highlight Article I, Section 4, which they say gives each state the authority to prescribe the time,
place and manner of congressional elections, therefore delegating to the local level the rules of who
gets to run. Opponents will counter that such an interpretation of the Constitution is much too broad.
They will also point out that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Constitution requires a specified period of citizenship, residency in the state represented, and
attainment of a certain age. The Convention also established the length of terms for all elective offices,
but voted against any limits on re eligibility or the number of consecutive terms that would be
allowed. The absence of term limits in the Constitution was not an oversight, Proposals to limit
elected officers to a specified number of terms were introduced at least three times during the 1787
Convention but were rejected, not because anyone deemed term limits to be a state prerogative, but
because terms limitation would be redundant, For the most part, short terms would encourage more
accountability than limited terms. In his notes on the Convention, James Madison records: Frequent
elections are necessary to preserve the good behavior of rulers. They also tend to give permanency to
the Government, by preserving that good behavior, because it ensures their re election. Two year terms
for the House and other constitutional restraints limited the amount of mischief federal officers might
be inclined to indulge in. Federal powers, being few and defined, were well understood, and elected
officials who exceeded their mandate, or who abused those

Fay Weldon Letters To Alice
(THESIS) Jane Austen s didactic novel Pride and Prejudice (1813), written during the patriarchal
Victorian Era examines the intricate relationship between love and financial security in marriages.
Similarly, Fay Weldon s postmodernist epistolary novel Letters to Alice (1984) argues for the
importance of morally instructive texts as well as supporting the importance of finding a balance
between love and financial security within marriage. (CONC SENT)
By examining Austen s Pride and Prejudice in conjunction with Weldon s feminist assessment of
Regency values, an enhanced understanding of the institution of marriage is achieved. Austen,
influenced by Regency philosopher John Locke explores the importance of attaining a marriage which

In 1978, Julie Hayward became the first female to receive equal pay after the amended Equal pay Act
promoting the belief the modern day women need not depend upon her husband for financial security.
Now, Austen mocks Mrs Bennet s obsession with marrying her daughters in the third person narration
To know that her daughter would be married was enough. She was not humbled by any remembrance
of her misconduct . In response, Weldon admits I take a very tender view of Mrs Bennet, more tender
than her creator does. But I am looking at a society from the outside in, not the inside out. educing
pathos for the difficulties faced by Victorian mothers from the readers by demonstrating the greater
significance of marrying one s children as only 30% of women married during Victorian England as
opposed to the 1980s where marriage has become trivialised to the stuff of women s magazines .
Furthermore, the Aunt s series of questions to Alice What do your parents say? Aren t you excited?
Will you settle down to be a writer or will you go to UCLA as planned? promotes the values instilled
by the first two waves of feminism supporting female education and autonomy challenging the notion
females need to marry for economic advantage in the modern world. However, Weldon s analogy of
the pretty girl from Java marries the rancher from Australia...to escape hunger and poverty
paradoxically criticises claims of female autonomy being achieved as though large advancements have
been made in developed nations, these are not consistent across all nations. Thus, Weldon comments
upon Austen s characterisation of marriages to develop an assessment of the advancement of female
rights since the Victorian

Narrative Essay On Brrendon s Day
Brendon s day had been less than ideal. She had woken up late with no time to do her hair or makeup,
got rained on waiting for the bus, skipped lunch for extra work hours at the bookstore, and still had to
close up, but this took the cake most definitely, Brendon did not do parties. Brendon, it s your
nineteenth birthday, and you want to stay home? Which she had most eloquently replied with, Jesus
Spencer you d think you didn t even know me. However somehow, she managed to get there, hot and
tired, feet sore from pacing the bookstores and mind numb from the trail of middle aged women
whispering embarrassed for, that uh Grey book. She did, despite being surrounded by pretentious
college assholes, love the excuse to really do herself up (not that she actually needed one). Easy on her
face, she had only applied concealer and powder, but on her eyes were shimmer gold on the lid,
crimson blended into her crease along with a dark bronze and a deep purple lip. She kept on her outfit

The National Plan Of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS)
With the rapid growth of commercial air travel in the 1970s, the FAA recognized that the nation s
airports contributed significantly to the national economy and international commerce, as well as
being a critical mode of transport for the public. Airports needed funding to improve safety and
maintain airport infrastructure such as runways, taxiways, NAVAIDS, and land acquisition. The
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) formed the National Airport System Plan (NASP) to ensure
these significant airports received Federal grants to make these improvements. The FAA revised the
NASP with the Airport and Airway Improvement Act of 1982 and called the National Plan of
Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) to reflect the further expansion.

The US Navy operated the airfield as Naval Air Station Millington until 1993 when the Base
Realignment and Closure (BRAC) commission closed it and transferred the airport and 2,000 acres of
adjacent land to the City of Millington. That same BRAC decision also moved the Navy s aviation
technical schools ( A and C schools) from Millington to Pensacola, FL. The airport currently has 54
aircraft based on the field and averages 76 aircraft operations a day. It serves as FedEx s emergency
alternate due to its close proximity to their super hub at the Memphis International Airport (Millington
Regional Airport, 2015).
To avoid congestion and operating conflicts between large commercial aircraft and small GA aircraft,
the FAA has designated some airports near major airports as reliever airports. Several of these high
capacity GA airports may serve a major metropolitan area providing access to the surrounding areas
without experiencing delays at busier commercial airports. The NPIAS defines Reliever Airports as
having at least 100 aircraft based at the airport or have 25,000 annual itinerant operations (Young,

Subwoofers are a vital part of car audio system equipment. It augments the quality of the songs and

but usually intensifies sound frequencies, which range between 60 to 150 Hz. Cars typically come
attached with small speakers, which do not produce low frequencies. So, it is often advantageous to

Hence with higher gross income of households also means that Australians has higher disposable
income which allows them to spend more on dining outside. In real terms, spending on food has
increased 30 percent (over the past 20 years) while incomes have risen 36 percent, according to the
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry 2012 foodmap report. Thus, this increases the
bargaining power of buyers as Australians are able to spend more on food due to a higher gross
household income. A restaurant is characterized by their food standards and service standards. The
way how food is cooked and its taste differs from restaurant to restaurant. The key to success for
restaurants is by differentiation from other restaurants. For example, Manhattan fish market signature
dish is their flaming seafood platter whereby their sea cret agent would flame it up when it is served
this. While in comparison fish n co serves up their fish and chips in different sauces according to the
country s favorite sauce such as for Singapore; Chili crab, India ; Curry and so on. This product
differentiation allows for brand loyalty; when a customer likes a particular restaurant and is used to the
taste he/she would come back again repeatedly. Thus since the product on offer differs from restaurant
to restaurant it makes the bargaining power of buyers low as they are unable to easily find a

The Smarter Generation Is Not The Dumbest Generation
The dumbest generation is not the Millennials. Indeed this generation is smarter than previous
generations because of better technology, and better learning of new vocabulary on everything that we
watch and play as on video games, TV shows, we are always learning new stuff every time. New
generation s also have proof that we are more intelligent in test that people have taken to compare
older IQ levels and newer generations IQ levels. There can be some proof that this generation is
getting lazier and learning is lacking and we always depend more on our phone, but in my opinion we
are still the smartest generation yet. Is this generation the dumbest yet to come? No. people do not
think the Millennials are the dumbest generation in fact, this generation is thought to be smarter than
previous generations. Millennials have so many things that this generation has improved that has also
made millennials smarter, everything they do makes them smarter each time just like playing video
games which you always remember on how to pass a mission, which you remember that last time you
died when you made a wrong move so obviously next time you won t go through that spot or you won
t do the same act that got you killed in your other game life. Newer generations also have proof to tell
the older generations that they are smarter because of proof that we have better IQ levels than the
older generation, yes older generations can say that this new generation may be dumber, but they just
have opinions not facts at all, but us, we have facts that we are smarter. IQ score have been on the rise
since 1930s (B, Begley). With this evidence it is more valuable than any of Bauerlein s claims because
they are just his opinions against actual evidence that has been tested by scientist to actually approve
that we are getting smarter. Also video games have helped us a lot in improving our skills and better
competitivity to learn/win.
Did video games ever sound so learnful to parents? You may guess not, but actually video games help
us on our learning of everyday. Video games do not look like a learning factor for some people, but
actually video games have helped lots of kids learn new vocabulary words that are simple used in the

Brahms’ Brahms’ Brahms’ Third Third Third
Brahms Brahms Brahms Third Third Third
In his early days, Brahms was attracted to the traditional form of classical music specifically
Beethoven and Haydn. When the original form of the symphony was created, many composers tried to
follow and fit the same mold. In this third symphony from an older Brahms, we see that he fits this
mold by having this symphony divided into a fast slow minuet fast. Just years before Brahms wrote
his first symphony, he was declared as the heir to Beethoven. This obviously had pressure on Brahms
at that point in his life, therefore he had to shift from a more traditional form of writing to making it
original as shown in this third symphony even though he followed Beethoven and Haydn s traditional
form. It s as if he had this heaviness of the past on his shoulders, yet we listen to his genuine response
towards this feeling. Yes he followed this form, but we can see Brahms rhythmic display, motivic
thinking, motivic saturation, and above all his musical wisdom. That being said, I m a firm believer
that music comes from within a person and I really do believe that Brahms felt this way toward his
music. What we listen to today, are movements that put together, have become masterpieces and
models for many composers.
Brahms third symphony is similar to Haydn s conception of the symphony which he shows in his
Oxford creation. It starts with a fast allegro movement, followed by a slow andante movement, later
has a scherzo, and finally an allegro

Descartes Mind And The Body
Descartes argues for mind body dualism in his Meditations on First Philosophy and Discourse on
Method. Descartes s arguments attempt to prove that the mind and the body are two distinct
substances. He argues that human existence is solely based on thought and not the existence of a
physical body. He also shows the difference between the mind and body by identifying them as
extended and non extended things. His arguments give rise to the philosophical problems of how we
can come to know other people s minds and how we can be sure if animals have minds. Descartes
solves these problems by establishing clear and distinct ideas from mental inspection cannot be false
because God is not a deceiver and that language and adaptability prove intelligence making the minds
of animals different than the minds of humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this he will only know things he is certain of. The basis of doubt is how Descartes finds his
first principle of philosophy, I think, therefore I am (Method 18). Descartes deduces that the fact that
he is able to doubt that he doesn t have a body actually proves his existence because this doubt
requires thought, I was a substance the whole essence or nature of which is simply to think, and
which, in order to exist, has no need of any place nor depends on any material thing. (Method 18 19).
This proves that the only thing that he can be sure of his existence is that it involves thought and that
he can t be sure it s physical because it could be based on a lie or

  • 3. Theology Reflection In every field of study there is tension in definitions, but in theology, the word theology itself is full of tension. On one hand, it is almost indescribable because it studies God who is without perfect description, but on the other hand St. Anselm s statement, faith seeking understanding seems to describe with perfect flexibility what it means to practice theology. My intent is to attend Graduate school at Marquette University so that I can dive deeper into the history, study, and communication of what it means for faith to seek understanding. My faith began to seek understanding from an early age as I entered Catholic schools and learned about what it meant to be Catholic. There, I was formed and there I was raised: I grew to know and love the Church and God through my experiences in Catholic schools. My teachers imparted to us the prayers and called us to do more than just pray the words: to live out the words within our lives. It was here I that I became compelled to question the systems of justice in the world and in the church. My sister, born with a cognitive disability, was told she could not receive the Eucharist when it came time for her first communion. This prompted my family to dedicate time and work to make and create spaces in the Church for people with disabilities. In the space of Catholic schools, my faith needed understanding; it needed theology, which would illuminate how to construct change to help open the doors to marginalized people in the public square to be welcomed into the Church. During my time as an undergraduate student at the University of Dayton, I continued to develop skills and knowledge assisting me in the process of faith seeking understanding. I chose to pursue two degrees: a B.A. in religious studies and a B.S.E. in Secondary Catholic Education. The former became my love, nothing excited me like going to a religion class. Here, I learned about the methods behind theology and deepened my understanding of my religion and my faith. My education degree formed me into someone more than just a teacher. My education degree served me in more ways than just teaching in high schools because it taught me the invaluable skills of communication, planning, research, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Animal Testing Pros Over the course of many years, makeup has been an important part of society. Not only is it used for beauty, but also as a form of self expression. Popular makeup brands such as Maybelline, Covergirl, and MAC are frequently advertised on TV, featuring celebrities to promote their latest lip products. At the same time, consumers are not aware of what happens inside the laboratories that make them. Every year, the U.S. Government spends billions of dollars on animal testing for cosmetics but those animals in the lab are suffering, even when there are already more humane alternative ways to test these products. Annually, about $10 16 billion are funded to laboratories to test on animals, and more than a fourth of that cost goes to cosmetic testing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the advanced technology and science in today s society, we can start testing by means of Vitro testing. Vitro testing is the practice of testing on cells outside of the body rather than on live animals and humans. The Corrositex is an example of a Vitro alternative to skin corrosion and skin sensitization tests. According to the official Corrositex website, Corrositex is used to determine the dermal corrosive potential of chemicals and chemical mixtures. This skin like subject is a substitute for rabbit skin corrosion tests and skin sensitization on guinea pigs and mice. Another alternative to live animal testing is the Bovine Corneal Opacity/Permeability assay, which substitutes for eye Draize tests on rabbits. As stated by The MB Research Lab website, (BCOP) is an alternative ocular irritation assay designed to replace the rabbit eye test. It is commonly used to test for eye irritation and corrosive potential of test materials that may be used in our around the eye. As mentioned before, testing on animals can be very expensive. However, when you compare the prices of animal testing to Vitro testing, Vitro testing is less expensive. Eye Draize tests on rabbits are $1,800, but BCOP costs $1,400. Skin corrosion tests on rabbits also cost the same amount as eye Draize tests, while Corrositex only costs $500, which is a huge $1,300 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Elisabeth Condon’s Nocturne vs. Vincent van Gogh’s The... Similarity in theme and color first drew me to select Elisabeth Condon s Nocturne (Bob Rauschenberg Gallery) and Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night (Frank 348) for this research paper. Initially I wanted to pick two pieces that were different enough in order to form a decent comparison and yet alike enough to connect them in some way. In the art gallery, Nocturne gave me a feeling similar to the one I experienced when I first saw The Starry Night; there was something otherworldly and mystical about it. It made you look at a greater expanse then the bit of landscape that was shown in an unexpected way. Though each work was made in over a hundred year gap from the other, both works use a brilliant use of color and a view of the sky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The artist of Nocturne, Elisabeth Condon, was heavily influenced by the places she has visited. Her own craft of improvisational paint pouring combined with the influence of Eastern art, specifically Chinese scrolls, helps to create the unique presence that each painting holds. Her paintings, collages and drawings use improvisational pours of paint, sketchbook drawings and digital projections to establish idiosyncratic compositions. Heeding the Tang Dynasty dictum of landscape as a fusion of observation and memory, they interweave external and internal perceptions of particular locations (ABOUT: Biography). The Starry Night is an oil painting that depicts a small, nestled town under an almost magical sky. This piece, much like Elisabeth s Nocturne, possesses a dominance of cool hues. While both paintings depict a night sky, Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night actually leads the observer s eyes through the painting due to it s brush strokes and fluidity. Although the work is very fluid and almost kinetic, it is not overwhelming or busy. Its rhythm is purposeful, not noisy. In fact, the painting almost gives off a calming, spiritual feeling to the viewer. The sky over the nestled town is a swirl of blue, yellow, and orange tints and shades that demonstrates an almost ethereal influence as if something greater is meant to be shown than what is simply before the observer. Many pieces of art created by Japanese culture originate from their religion of Shintoism and Christianity, which are the two predominant religions in Japanese culture. Tales of Zestiria, a Japanese videogame, clearly depicts the synthesis of both Shintoism and Christianity beliefs. When analyzing the elements of the videogame, the belief of obtaining divine powers through seraphim will evoke prosperity to the world is the same belief Shintoism has when they pray to nature. In traditional angelology of Christianity, seraphim are heavenly beings of light and purity, which is a term used to portray the divine entities in Tales of Zestiria. Shintoism believe in divine spiritual beings called kami (gods in their term). They pray on the kami and perform rituals, but they also believe the kami are within nature as well. If they have tremendous amount of faith to the kami, they believe the kami will grant them divine abilities to continue the prosperity between nature and humanity. There practices maintain nature in balance and pray on the kami so they can be granted power to keep humanity in balance. Their religion allows them to believe that humanity will one day cease their conflict and live in peace. Christianity on the other hand believe in seraphim, which are mentioned in the Christian bible as angels of god. Seraphim are described as messengers between heaven and earth. • 7. Disadvantages Of Vertical Integration Netflix could pursue multiple options in order to remain viable in the industry. In order to achieve vertical integration Netflix would have to control two of the four aspects of the supply chain. Those include commodities, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. There are many advantages to vertical integration including control over the market (Amadeo, 2016). If Netflix could have a partnership with the movie and television industry they could monopolize the online streaming industry and, therefore, decrease cost to the consumer. By collaborating with the partners this would decrease cost to Netflix and increase revenues. This would allow more offerings for the viewer and increase customer loyalty and increase the customer base. Overall efficiency is improved when collaborating with supply companies. A supply chain strategy is important to any company when making strategic decisions. This improves the ability to effectively market products, and improves distribution of products to the consumer (Ferrell, Hartline, 2014). Increased efficiency and control over quality are pros to vertical intergration for Netflix. The biggest disadvantage to vertical integration would be cost to the company. It is expensive ... • 8. The Effects Of Dominance Aggression On Pet Dogs Research Methods Assessment One Critical Report The authors of this particular research paper are Joaquin Perez Guisado and Andres Munoz Serrano. The title of the article is Factors Linked to Dominance Aggression in Dogs and has been taken from the Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances, Volume 8, Issue 2. The page numbers for the article are 336 342 and the publish date is 2009. The main aim of this study was to determine factors that might be linked to dominance aggression in pet dogs. The research carried out was qualitative and involves the use of surveys and interviews, and explores certain factors relating to a topic. Qualitative methods, such as interviews, are believed to provide a deeper understanding of social phenomena than would be obtained from purely quantitative methods (Gill et al., 2008). There was significant association between certain dog behaviour patterns and higher levels of dominance aggression. As a whole, the research method and survey appears to have been considerably well done with only a few adjustments to be made if it were to be repeated or further investigated. The methodology for this article has both good and bad points to consider. For example the sample size is very large and a total of 711 dogs were involved, with an equal amount (give or take a few) of male and female dogs taking part. Only owners with dogs older than 12 months were interviewed and there was a mixture of both pure bred and mixed breed dogs. A total of 47 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of Gloria Anzaldua s Poem, The And English, A... Southwestern America is home to numerous cultures, all of which intermingle and interact on a daily basis. This creates a wealth of literature and art from the perspective of those who live with such a variation of experiences. Authors and artists experiencing the culture associated with being a part of many communities show the culture as they see it through their work. One such author is Gloria Anzaldua. In her poem, To Live in the Borderlands Means You, Gloria Anzaldua reveals her identity as a multicultural woman and the struggles that she faces in doing so. She relates this through the use of Spanish and English, first person perspective, and gender. Acculturation was first defined by Redfield and colleagues as a phenomenon which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, the sight of Spanish within a work that is primarily English is unexpected, forcing readers to take a moment to fully comprehend the text. Anzaldua s use of Spanish utilizes this quality, but it also demonstrates her flexibility in language and the way that both Spanish and English play important roles in how she identifies herself. Both languages are a part of Anzaldua, and applying them acknowledges her refusal to conform into one simple stereotype or idea. The poem is written from the second person perspective, placing the reader into Anzaldua s viewpoint. Anzaldua could easily employ first person perspective, using the pronouns I or me to describe her experiences, yet she did not. Instead, she uses the pronoun you. This is a bold choice that forces readers to see Anzaldua s experience from her viewpoint. Second person perspective is evident before the poem is even read. To Live in the Borderlands Means You is both the title and the phrase repeated in some form at the beginning of each stanza. Such a strong statement acts almost as a call to action that captures readers and tells them of the experience of living in the borderlands. Each stanza frames the reader as the person experiencing life as Anzaldua experiences it, creating a more intimate relationship with the text. First or third person perspective creates a narrative setup in which the poem is directed at the world around the reader, giving them a view into the poem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Dangers Of Self Esteem In today s society, I believe that there are many possible hazards if we focus too much on heightening the self esteem of children. One example is that children with very high self esteem could have a lack of motivation in regards to academic assignments and exams. They may not feel the need to study or put in the work to try their best due to the fact that they have the mentality of I m so smart, so I don t need to study. Another example is that high self esteem could lead children to losing respect towards authority. When children become too arrogant, they develop this know it all attitude. They feel that they are better than the authority figure and there is no reason to respect them. All in all, too much focus on heightening self esteem can cause children to lack high goals and expectations and influence them to disrespect authority figures. Instead, we should focus on developing a secure self esteem in which children feel comfortable and happy about themselves. We should teach children the idea that not everyone is perfect and that they should accept their flaws. When children realize that they are not perfect and can still make improvement, they can set goals for themselves and establish determination to get better. 4. Rosenberg Spies Essay Rosenberg Spies In 1951, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted of passing information to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) concerning the construction of nuclear weapons. In 1953, the United States Government executed them. Some say, the Rosenbergs received their just punishment. Many historians feel that the trial was unfair, and that international claims for clemency were wrongly ignored. These historians claim that the Rosenbergs were assassinated by the US government. The FBI appointed James Skardon to confront Fuchs. Skardon was a renowned spy catcher, who had obtained confessions from many, including the traitor William Joyce. Apparently, Fuchs wanted to talk because he was very upset with the Soviet Union s postwar policy in Eastern Europe. He did not say everything, but it was a start. After many meetings, Skardon was able to get Fuchs to disclose even more. Fuchs thought that if he owned up to his past, it would be forgotten, or at least forgiven. He was wrong. Fuchs said, At first I thought that all I would do was inform the Russian authorities that work on the atomic bomb was going on... I did what I consider the worst that I could have done, namely to give information about the principle of the design of the plutonium bomb. The FBI later found out from Fuchs that his contact was Raymond. They had only met a handful of times and Fuchs did not know much about him. On March 1, 1950, Fuchs was put on trial. After a trial that lasted only an hour and a half, he was convicted of four accounts of espionage and sentenced to 14 years in jail. The reason he was not killed was that he gave secrets to an ally. Essay on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Case Study Normal Anatomy and Physiology of Motor Function The two components of the central nervous system (CNS) are the brain and the spinal cord. Communication between the brain and the spinal cord happens through motor neurons, which are nerve cells that enable motor movement. Each motor neuron is made up of a cell body, which holds all the cell components, dendrites which send information it receives to the cell body, and an axon which sends nerve impulses to the muscle (Porth Matfin, 2009). As electrical impulses are sent through the motor neuron, it stimulates the muscle fibers in the body to move. This is the process in which motor function happens. When upper motor neurons die, the symptoms include problems controlling fine movements, spasms, dysphagia, dysphonia and dysarthria (Porth Matfin, 2009). Manifestations of lower motor neuron destruction include fasciculations, weakness, muscle atrophy, and hyporeflexia (Porth Matfin, 2009, p. 1284). Patients with early signs of ALS usually complain of feeling weak on one side, which is due to the slowing of electrical impulses to that group of muscles (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). Since the impulses are slowed, they are not receiving adequate electrical stimulation to move and the person feels weak. As the disease progresses, all the motor neurons die and are not regenerated so, the patient is left paralyzed, losing the ability to speak, swallow and breathe (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). A distinctive characteristic of ALS is that although the motor neurons die, the brain, cognitive functions and sensory neurons stay intact (Porth Matfin, 2009). This makes the disease especially devastating because patients become trapped inside their dying body, with a fully alert mind, but are unable to move. It is not known what causes the exact death of the motor neurons in the body, but five percent to 10% of cases are familial; the others are believed to be sporadic (Porth Matfin, 2009, p. ... His world is filled with superficial relationships; media designed to control and numb people, his society destroys the dangerous free thinkers. Montag enjoys his place in his world. His job makes him feel good, like he is a protector of his world: It was a special pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed. With the brass nozzle in his fists, with this great python spitting its venomous kerosene upon the world, the blood pounded in his head, and his hands were the hands of some amazing conductor playing all the symphonies of blazing and burning to bring down the tatters and charcoal ruins of history. (Bradbury) In Montag s world independent thoughts are dangerous and he is part of the control system, he burns the source of the dangerous ideas, books. Against this bleak world there are three catalysts that radically change Montag. A young girl named Clarisse, his boss Captain Beatty, and an old teacher Professor Faber. These three people bring love, hate, and friendship into his life and cause him to radically rethink his world. On Montag s walk home from work one evening he meets a young 17 year old girl named Clarisse. Through a series of questions, actions, and untimely death she causes Montag to examine his life. The context of these references has majorly affected the way in which they are received and perceived by the wider public, expressly in times of social or political change and unrest. The context in which these images and sounds are being interpreted affect the response to racial vilification, representation, along with gender roles and stereotypes. Conventional practice in the entertainment industries has developed over time but drugs, their users and dealers, including the consumption and production, continue to be portrayed in a mainly negative light, showing the complexity of this particular social process. Context, being the time and place in which the medium is being produced, assumes a major responsibility in the portrayal of drugs themselves, the user, the dealer and the trafficker. Zinberg s (1984) description of drug use as drug, set and setting presents strongly in the notion of context. This is evident in the portrayal of a drug on screen as it becomes increasingly popular amongst the public. Social and political changes affect usage and its representation of drugs in a community and the wider world. Brahms’ Brahms’ Brahms’ Third Third Third Brahms Brahms Brahms Third Third Third In his early days, Brahms was attracted to the traditional form of classical music specifically Beethoven and Haydn. When the original form of the symphony was created, many composers tried to follow and fit the same mold. In this third symphony from an older Brahms, we see that he fits this mold by having this symphony divided into a fast slow minuet fast. Just years before Brahms wrote his first symphony, he was declared as the heir to Beethoven. This obviously had pressure on Brahms at that point in his life, therefore he had to shift from a more traditional form of writing to making it original as shown in this third symphony even though he followed Beethoven and Haydn s traditional form. It s as if he had this heaviness of the past on his shoulders, yet we listen to his genuine response towards this feeling. Yes he followed this form, but we can see Brahms rhythmic display, motivic thinking, motivic saturation, and above all his musical wisdom. That being said, I m a firm believer that music comes from within a person and I really do believe that Brahms felt this way toward his music. What we listen to today, are movements that put together, have become masterpieces and models for many composers.
