Will Win a Billion? (Similar to Who wants to be a Millionaire? ). He was accused of cheating because
as a poor orphan who has never gone to school, how is it possible that he knows about the planets?
Thomas takes the audience back into his past before each question is revealed which explains how he
was able to answer such questions. Connection #1: In the second chapter of Q A , we follow the story
of Thomas s upbringing and how he was adopted by priest, Father Timothy. Long story short, Father
Thomas gets murdered by another priest, Father John. How do you think this incident relates to the

Benefits Of White Tea
Important Information About White Tea And Its Health Benefits
White tea belongs to the group of extremely rare teas and it got its name after its white leaves. White
tea is grown in China, in Fujian province. The best time for harvest is early spring and the leaves are
picked by hand. For the best quality white tea, the leaves are picked before they re fully matured and
shortly before the buds are fully open. White tea leaves are processed differently than other teas; the
leaves are not dried, they are steamed and they are fermented only by 2%.
Throughout history, white tea was reserved only for the upper class, but after tea spread to every part
of the world, it became more common. White tea is first mentioned during the Tang dynasty in China

It is also extremely beneficial for your health. That is not surprising because it comes from the same
plant (Camellia sinensis) as black tea and green tea for example, but white tea leaves are not treated
and processed as much which means they contain more nutrients and healthy substances and less
caffeine. All of that makes it one of the best, strongest and most healthy teas in the world.
Health Benefits of White Tea
White tea works really well in preventing cancerous cells. At Oregon Institute, it was proven that
consuming white tea can help protect against colon cancer. White tea can also lower the risk of other
types of cancer, heart disease, and arthritis.
White tea helps the body to fight against viruses and bacteria because its rich in antioxidants. Studies
have shown that it can even relieve the symptoms of HIV.
Another benefit of white tea is that is minimizes the exhaustion of elastin and collagen and in that way
it helps to slow down the aging process. It has an overall beneficial effect on the body s immune
system and it keeps the body healthy and strong. White tea reduces stress which also helps to make the

Astrology Midterm Paper
Midterm Paper: Astrology as a Pseudoscience While Astrology was based on the scientifically
supported surveillance and movement of celestial bodies , majority of the work drawn from
observations have been poorly executed and negatively received. Astrology consistently contradicts
itself and the professionals that claim it as their practice rarely have any factual counterarguments for
the numerous holes in the research methods or their reliance on mere observation. Astrology began in
Mesopotamia around 3000 B.C. when civilizations began to observe the constellations and planets in
the sky. The Babylonians then realized that the position of celestial bodies allowed them to predict the

Penn and Teller conducted an experiment that measured the satisfaction of a personality description
that was written out for every individual in a classroom. The general response was that of a positive
reaction to the description, meaning that majority of the students deemed their report to be fair and
relatively reflective of their personality. The professor then revealed to the class that each student had
received the same description with no variation whatsoever. This experiment exposes modern
astrology and horoscope work for what it really is. A large blanket personality statement that majority
of the population will accept as true. Modern astrology will take a generalization and dole it out to any
uneducated reader of a gossip column or newspaper. The reader is amazed by the accuracy and
continues to buy into the concept of astrology. This astrological magic show, while very entertaining is
not a science, rather a cut and dry statement that makes the ordinary feel special. Astrology in the 20th

large audience with money to spend. Astrologists and a sympathetic community do however provide
counter arguments as to why Astrology should be taken seriously. They argue that their methodology

George Bush Biography
Introduction
George W. Bush is one of the most controversial figures in recent memory. From his boyhood
boarding schools and military background to the election in 2000, Bush has been the beneficiary of
preferential treatment. Coming from a family of wealthy politicians and businessmen, he did not have
to want, or work very hard for anything. That is, until his presidency pushed him on to the global
scene making it nearly impossible to underachieve like he did in school and in the military. Several
encounters with both the law and the Securities and Exchange Commission weren t enough to check
the Bush privilege. In fact, his family influence was strong enough to infiltrate the U.S. military,
Florida, and U.S. Supreme Courts during his time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After two years of piloting and logging over 336 flight hours, Bush requested to transfer to 9921st Air
Squadron in Montgomery, Alabama under Colonel Reese R. Bricken, in order to work on the senate
campaign of George H.W. s close friend William Blount. Before he could do so, Bricken made it clear
to Bush that he had not yet fulfilled the obligation agreed upon when he entered the service, but
Bricken approved his request anyhow. Much to the dismay of Bush, on July 31, 1972, the Air Reserve
Personnel Center (ARPC) overruled Bush s transfer request, saying that he could not be reassigned to
an Air Reserve Squadron in Montgomery because of his service obligations. Against the orders of his
superior officers, Bush relocated to Alabama anyway, leaving his guard responsibilities unresolved. In
August 1972, Bush was suspended from flying due to his failure to report for a medical exam. Soon
after, Bush reapplied for transfer to 187th Tactical Reconnaissance Group in Alabama and was
promptly approved. This is where allegations of Bush going A.W.O.L come into play. There are no
actual records of Bush performing any of his Guard duties between May 1972 and May 1973. William
Turnipseed, the commander of the 187th, doesn t even remember Bush at all. Had he reported in, I

How Is Socrates Clever
Socrates is a great philosopher. Since the beginning of the trial he starts asking philosophical questions
to defend himself from the Athenians. When the accuser called him clever he hit them with the
question of what does it mean to be actually clever? Also, he aroused the concern that the ones that
accused him now are aware that the audience might believed their accusations because they are more
in risk of their own beliefs, but if they were younger they will simply lack proves. This is just a simple
comparison to Beardsleys point of view that people grow up to have beliefs that are passed down by
family members or society. Socrates went on his own ways to practice philosophical investigation by
going house to house and talking to young

The Importance Of Characterism In White Fang By Jack London
In White Fang is a fiction story. It was written by the American author, Jack London. This book has an
abundance of importance because of what it covers while you are reading it. It shows the challenges of
life being in the Yukon. The book White Fang also shows how harsh nature can be and how the human
race can do can do better than nature or sufficiently worse. It also shows us how sometimes an animal
is needed to discover what animals we can become. The setting for most of White Fang takes place in
the Yukon Territory. It was a wild area full of wide, flowing rivers and enormous mountains. Even
though it is a place full of beauty there are a large number of ways you can be killed there. In 1896,
Gold was discovered and people swarmed in looking to strike it rich. This only lasted a couple of
years and people left. The last section in the novel is taking place in California. This setting is very
much warmer than the Yukon. It was also less harsh of a place. The point of view in White Fang is
third person limited omniscient. This affects the story by letting us know what the animal characters
are thinking since dogs cannot speak. Third person limited omniscient lets us see a lot of thoughts
from White Fang and other characters throughout the novel that make the story exciting and flow. The
protagonist in White Fang is White fang himself. White Fang goes through many dangerous events

Analysis Of Don Delillo s White Noise
Don DeLillo is an American writer born in 1936. DeLillo is a postmodernist and has written eleven
books receiving various awards for his work. The title of DeLillo s eighth novel White Noise brings
forth many assumptions towards the overall meaning of the book. If one was to generally interpret the
meaning, white noise is produced when sound waves are joined together creating a constant buzz. This
buzz can produce a relaxing or an overwhelming feeling, depending, if it refers to a repetitive noise
one is trying to avoid or perhaps noise one is trying to embrace. With this being said, DeLillo s White
Noise is set in the twentieth century, and tells a story about a college professor by the name of Jack
Gladney who is a professor for the Hitler Studies at College on the Hill. Throughout the novel it is
evident that Jack is the main character and the narrator of the story, who experiences a constant
murmur of his underlying fear of death invading his thoughts. The constant reminder of white noise
causes Jack to have uncertainties that stop him from repressing death in the society around him. As a
result, Jack is challenged with many obstacles as he tries to avoid, cope, and confront the thought of
death while diminishing the white noise that he is trying to escape.
Avoidance is choosing to hide from the inevitable truth instead of accepting the thought of death. In
the first part of the novel, Jack Gladney is seen as an average working man who has to earn an income

China s Economic Growth Mechanism
The article of Yasheng Huang, named how did China take off, discussing on economic growth
mechanism, mainly come to China s economic reform had the process of financial liberalization.
Furthermore, he pointed out that political reform, financial liberalization and the development of
township enterprises are the key focus on China s development.
Huang argues that the results of China s economic development are mainly due to internal reforms
which are the reforms of China s rural industry. On the contrary, external reforms which made the
contribution in the political sense, such as the establishment of special economic zones and foreign
direct investment(FDI) , is not a general function as township and village enterprises(TVEs) did in
China s economic development.
Huang s paper analyzed the phenomena and causes of the take off in China s economy through four
aspects.
The first part is the beginning of China s economic reform from rural areas, the initial conditions of
China s rural areas are more likely to produce both private entrepreneurship and market economy than
the urban industrialization. Rural reforms also concerned about macroeconomic reform, especially for
the public confidence in the credibility and stability of the government. This reform is a reform and
even a revolution, not what they characterized as modest by some scholars. (Huang)
The second part is to clarify the definition of township and village enterprises, which include the

The process of discovery is often, a rigid and gruelling journey which leads an individual or group to
formulate new perspectives as truth is uncovered. Exploring new worlds, people and places, thrilling

Death By A Suicidal Pilot
Death by a suicidal pilot sounds absurd to think that this even possible. As we consider the hundreds
way possible to commit suicide why this way? Is this a new thing or has it been around for years?
What regulations are in place to determine a pilot is mentally unstable with a possibility of committing

to determine if the current policies in place will reduce aviation assisted suicides to zero as we enter
the 21th century.

South Park as Parody of Society Essay
South Park as Parody of Society
South Park began airing in 1997. The commercials that preceded it gave the impression of it being
another stupid cartoon; however, when I began watching, I realized important issues were being
covered through the repeated behaviors and actions of its characters, through the influences these
actions could have on the viewers, through the reinforcement and rejections of certain stereotypes,
through the long term effects that could result from watching the program, and through its reflection
of social reality.
Some of the repeated behaviors and actions of the characters include one of the children (Kenny)
dying during each episode (followed by Stan yelling, Oh, my God! They ve killed Kenny (South ...

There are both negative and positive influences these repeated behaviors and actions could have on an
audience. One negative effect could be the numbing of the viewer to children s deaths: it is such a
common occurrence on the show until it is expected. Another effect could be the instilling of negative
feelings toward the overweight; the audience could be learning that it is acceptable to verbally attack a
person with a weight problem. Also, in a time of AIDS, promotion of sexual promiscuity is a
dangerous thing: never have the writers mentioned the use of condoms by Chef during his encounters.
Finally, because of the recent advances in genetic research and its awakening of new fears in the
public, South Park s parody of the geneticist could further play on people s fears.
Despite the potentially negative influences of these behaviors and actions, there could be a positive
influence existing in the form of catharsis. American society has suffered from the rules of political
correctness, the fear of AIDS, and the fear of knowledge (the fear of going too far into God s domain
thanks to our Puritanical background). Maybe South Park gives us release from repression by allowing
us to laugh at the things we fear the most: death, ridicule of our differences by our peers, the
contracting of deadly diseases, and advancements in science. (I am sure that most of us need release
from the built up tensions of daily life; South

Spread of United States Culture through Technology Essay
Abstract
In today s society, the way in which information is spread drastically differs from that of yesterday,
especially in different parts of the world more specifically, the Commonwealth of Nations.
As the United States continues to dominate almost every aspect of the world, including culture, many
different nations scurry to keep up with them, sometimes adopting an identity which is in great
contrast to their own, and in many cases, shadow their own identity as a whole. With the ever
advancing technology, the spreading of U.S. culture seems to be easier, and this has many countries
worried. Hence, a reason or need to censor what enters the country via print, airwaves or Internet.

Some governments are uncomfortable with the fact that the United States seems to pose a better
lifestyle to their people and try to limit the amount of American shows imported, or the amount of
time the shows are viewed.
In Jamaica, for instance, there is currently one local television station, the JBC (Jamaica Broadcasting
Corporation). However, it does not broadcast until late afternoon (around 4 or 5 o clock). The first half
hour is cartoons (imported from the United States). Then, for the next two to three hours there is
nothing but local programs, including news, gardening and cooking shows, local sitcoms, the most
popular being Lime Tree Lane, Titus, and the long running Oliver at Large, all of which contain
Jamaican actors. The quality of the shows is shoddy mainly because there is not much of a budget and
resources are limited.
Most of the citizens especially those without a satellite do not see an American on television until later
in the evening (around 8 or 9 o clock), and it is only for a couple of hours, as the station quits
broadcasting for the day at around 11. The government does this in an attempt to lessen the influence
of American culture on their society.
In the Bahamas the story is a little different. There is one local television station, ZNS (Zephyr Nassau
Sunshine), however, most people own satellites and antennae, allowing them to receive more stations.
The government sees nothing wrong with this, and to some

Drugs Case For Legalizing Marijuana By Gore Vidal Case Study
What would be your solution to end drug addiction? In the essay, Drugs: Case for Legalizing
Marijuana , Gore Vidal argues his solution, to legalize all drugs along with marijuana, to end drug
addiction. Marijuana along with other drugs should not be legalized because they will cause more
harm than good, begin leading to drug after drug, and would forever affect the world. Drugs aren t just
bad for some people, they are bad for everyone. Vidal states Label each drug with a precise
description of what effect good or bad the drug will have on whoever takes it. Each drug will have a
different affect, but none of them will be good ones. Although they may seem good at first, the
outcome in the end is something that takes time to come back ... Show more content on

He argues that you can try them as many times as you want. I disagree, the trying will eventually turn
into something more. And you will eventually become a drug user. Each drug has its own extent in
which if you know the extent, you shouldn t even consider trying it. Vidal states that, Yet it seems
most unlikely that any reasonably sane person will become a drug addict if he knows in advance what
addiction is going to be like. . It doesn t matter how sane you are, anyone could become a drug addict.
Everyone hits their low spot in life and sometimes the best people fall through and turn to something,
and that something could be drugs. Yes, there will be the ones who always become addicts, but it can
be prevented. If drugs were legalized, it will forever affect the world. It will not only affect people
now but people in the future. Vidal talks about the war on drugs and government at the end of his
essay. He states that nothing sensible will be done and it will only get worse . What would only get
worse is if drugs were actually legalized and people began to use them more and more. If the
government keeps fighting the war against drugs, a better solution will come up to end drug use and
drug addiction. Eventually drugs could be belittled. Vidal mentions that Every man, has the power
(should have the power), to kill himself is he chooses. . This is a true statement but his way of using
this sentence, I disagree with. If a person is choosing to become a drug

Explain What Natural Resources Were Highly Valued During...
Natural resources were highly valued during the era of imperialism. Natural market trade was a
popular source of income, and with this, natural resources were necessities. If a country did not have
enough natural resources on their own soil to make a decent share, they had to expand their territory
by taking over other lands. Being the holder of large territories of land was also highly valued during
this time. The more land a country had, the stronger and more powerful they viewed as. With
expansion and power came a need for a smart political system. In the period of 1880 to 1914,
Europeans acquistized African colonies because they were politically smart so they had justification
for this, they needed more natural resources, and they needed to expand of their territories. To begin, a
country could not be successful without an intelligent political system. With a smart political system
comes great responsibility. According to source ____, ____ utilized a right they had to expand into

Lawrence V. Hodges Case Study
The Fourteenth Amendment, which was approved amid the Reconstruction period to ensure the
privileges of minorities, is the law within the Lawrence v. Texas and Obergefell v. Hodges case. In a
Houston, Texas apartment five years back, nearby police were dispatched to answer reports of gunfire.
They legally entered the apartment of petitioner John Lawrence, who was engaging in sex with
another man. The two were arrested, convicted and fined $200. Texas statue making it illegal for two
individuals of the same sex to partake in sexual relationships with one another violated their
Fourteenth Amendment rights. The court justified that Lawrence and Garner were allowed to exercise
their liberty by engaging in private relations under the Due Process Clause.
The advancement of the Fourteenth Amendment, as indicated by Eric Foner in Our Living

children to see me as human. I m not perfect, I m not always healthy, and I can t always do the things I
want. This is my reality, and the truth is that all parents have to do the best that we can with what we
have and be gentle with ourselves in the process.
I feel guilty for missing events and milestones. I missed my daughter s first dentist appointment, and it
felt like I was the worst mom. Guess what? She has had many, many more appointments that I ve been
at since then. It was OK.
I feel guilty asking for help. I feel like I should be able to do everything. Well, I can t. Asking for help
is hard, but I ve learned to lean on my support team of friends and family. They are ready and

about how Eleanor Roosevelt helped Marian Anderson ge6t through the restriction of the DAR and
help her perform at the Lincoln Memorial. Eleanor Roosevelt did many good things, and because of
this it is easy to describe her. Eleanor Roosevelt has done many good things. One piece of evidence is,
¨Mrs. Roosevelt submitted her letter of resignation.¨One reason this was good was because the DAR

she could fight the DAR from a different angle. A second piece of evidence

School Counselor Career Essay
When analyzing both my Self and Environment sections, I believe I am on the right track in wanting
to become a school counselor. I believe that I have interests that line up with what the field is desiring
in its employees, and the assessments I took back this up. My work history shows that I am willing to
advance myself as a professional, and I have multiple influences that have prepared me for the
requirements that a school counselor should follow. Additionally, the research I conducted on the
various job responsibilities, salary, job growth, and ethical conduct allows me to see that I am capable
of being a school counselor. I currently love the field as a college student, and desire to continue the

professionally, so working in an internship will be a great opportunity for me to grow. My decision on
my career closely aligns with the trait oriented theories, or more specifically, the John Holland
Typology Approach. I feel that I was attracted to school counseling because of my personality traits,
including the fact that I desire to help students achieve in the classroom and in their personal lives
(Zunker, 2016). I believe that my personality and the expected work roles and environment align with

the assessment that draws the personality types from Holland s theory, my personality closely aligns
with what employers desire in school counselors (123test, 2017). Employers desire someone who can
interact with others and help them solve problems, which aligns with social and conventional
categories found as described by Holland s theory (Zunker, 2016). The work setting is an office space

Adhd Research Paper
ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). ADHD is a neurological condition affecting brain
development. MRI imaging has found abnormal grey matter and cortical thickness associated with
ADHD in frontal, temporal and cerebellar regions of the brain (from the ADHD Institute). This
diagnosis has been given to 11% of American school aged children between 4 17. This is nearly 6.4
million children. ( https://www.cdc.gov) This number is staggering but is this what is really affecting
our children? Is it poor parenting, poor diet, or is this the retention of primitive reflexes? We will
attempt to answer these questions to determine if the ADHD diagnosis is overused or if the factors
listed above are truly changing the lives of our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, we look at the child s diet to see if that could be the cause of the ADHD diagnosis. The
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Advisory Committee determined that studies to date have
not proved there s a link between food colorings and hyperactivity. Food additives include artificial
colors, artificial sweeteners and preservatives. There s no solid evidence that food additives cause
attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).(Pelsser) However, the topic of food additives and
their possible effects on children s behavior is controversial. Ideally, parents should limit a diet of
sugary and processed foods and replace it with fruits and vegetables. Providing children with meals
that do not include extra sugar and additives may help reduce symptoms of ADHD and certainly
improve the health of the children.
Finally, we look at retained primal reflexes as a cause of ADHD. When a child has retained his or her
primitive reflexes the symptoms expressed depend on which specific primitive reflex failed to
integrate with the rest of the central nervous system. Here is a list of some examples of various
retained primal reflexes that has been shared by Dr. Yannick Pauli:
A retained Moro reflex results in the inability to control emotions. The child might be aggressive,
insensitive, but also loving and compassionate. This may also cause a hypersensitivity to touch, light,
and textures.

Ellen Narrative
Ellen and I were growing up and along with getting older, came more responsibility and even some
independence. By now, our mother trusted us to walk to town unaccompanied to pick up a few
groceries, happy to do so, we carried our willow shopping basket, money in one hand and a grocery
list in the other, with a note to give to the store clerk who would gather the required items for us. We
felt so grown up as we walked to the Abtsweg together, not in a group as we did when we walked to
school with our friends, but just the two of us; my sister and I, wearing matching brown coats and
perfectly starched bows in our hair. When we returned home and proudly handed Mom the basket
filled with all the correct items, she praised us endlessly and when Ted s parents phoned, boasted
about our accomplishment. They too, were pleased and realized that Ellen and I were growing up. One
afternoon, during an unexpected visit from Opa Taco and Oma Tine, our presence downstairs was
requested when they rang the doorbell upon their arrival. Wondering what was going on, Ellen and I

The Boer War and its Effects on the South African People...
Nations constantly get put through tests and challenges. They can be as small and unaffecting, or they
can be enormous and have physical and emotional injuries on the nation s citizens. However, no
matter the size, problems have consequences. The Boer War, a trifling affair that spans over a course
of twenty two years, 1880 1902, also known as the Transvaal War and the South African War, has
good and bad everlasting effects on the people of South Africa by the deterioration of the Boers and
Afrikaners and the forcefully implied English rule.

the mobile war, the Boers grew weak and worried. In their final attempts to have their republics

eventually, they surrendered by a vote from Boer representatives. With the Peace Treaty of
Vereeniging, prisoners of war were released, and amnesty was given to the nations as well as relief

In Italy, the humanist educational program won rapid acceptance and, by the mid 15th century, many
of the upper classes had received a humanist education. Some of the highest officials of the Catholic

into improving the understanding and translations of the biblical and early Christian texts. According

The romantic music movement was an intellectual movement that originated in the second half of the

against social and political norms of the ages of enlightenment. The romantic music movement was
embodied most strongly in the visual art, music, and literature, but had a major impact on history and

Almost Conflict In Regard To Richard Dawkins

In the Jewish tradition, the New Year is received with a time of introspection and reflection to take
stock of the previous year before moving into the new one. This is done during the first ten days,
starting with Rosh Hashanah and ending with Yom Kippur. These are commonly known as the Days
of Awe or the Days of Repentance.
All religious undertone aside, I like the idea of reviewing and revisiting life to let go of what no longer
serves us no matter what time of the year. It s too easy to get used and attached to things that hold us
back, be they objects, relationships, jobs, situations, routines, or beliefs.
The ego mind likes familiarity and creating a sense of repetition to feel safe and in control. This is
crucial when we are children and need to feel safe, but its value should decrease as we grow up and
understand that being in control is really an illusion, especially if we want to continue growing
emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to master our life.
Life is about being in the present and opening up to the

Manners Are Manners Matter
Manners Matter
People living in this era must have had an experience of people bumping into each other, and just
walking away without apologizing. Some of them are in an urgent situation and we can tolerate that
there is no time to be polite but most of them, whatever they are doing, are not in a hurry. People are
usually able to judge whether the rude person was in a crucial situation. It s true that it gets really
frustrating to see the impolite person walk away like nothing happened when my feelings are hurt. It is
becoming certain that manners and courtesies are disappearing at a rapid speed.
Manners have been greatly valued and judged since the ancient times, but not anymore. People who
did not keep their ways to monarchs or even to high officials were often severely punished or
executed. Whenever I did something that was unmannerly, my parents punished me very harshly,
usually with a long stick that I brought home with me from camping. I always regretted that I brought
that stick home. Now, that I reflect on the things that I ve done to my parents, I think they made the
right choice.
Manners are important because they show love, gratitude, and respect toward another when practiced.
They affect how we speak or act in a given situation. For example, saying thank you or please
suggests that the person is feeling gratitude and respect. An individual who provided help will feel
absolutely delighted and feel that is was worthwhile to give the person the help he

The Application of Scientific Management in Today s Organisations
INTRODUCTION
The principle object of management should be to secure maximum prosperity for the employer,
coupled with the maximum prosperity for the employee... (Taylor, 1911, p.9)
With those evocative words, Frederick W. Taylor had begun his highly influential book; The Principles
of Scientific Management indicating his view regarding management practices. As one of the most
influential management theorists, Taylor is widely acclaimed as the father of scientific management .
Taylor had sought the one best way for a job to be done (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg Coulter, 2003,

Next is the task aspect, which means the work of every workman is fully planned out by the
management...and each man receives...complete written instructions (Freeman, 1996, p.35). This
aspect is also fully consistent with the practice of McDonald s where employees have virtually no
discretion regarding how to prepare and serve any item of food (Levitt, 1972; Draft, 1986, cited in
Bergman, 2004, p.22).
The next technique of individualized work, is based on Taylor s conviction that personal ambition
would supersede the desire for general welfare as an incentive to exertion (Whyte, 1969, p.5). This is
almost in complete contradiction with businesses like McDonald s, where the focus is on teamwork.
Then, taking a look at the technique of scientific selection, various research conducted has confirmed
the importance of scientific assessment of prospective employees. But while fast food outlets would
utilise some formal system, it is extremely unlikely that highly complex forms of scientific selection
would be used, given the simplified nature of the jobs. This enables the conclusion that this technique
is not broadly utilised in those outlets.
And the last but certainly not the least is money bonus. Money is an all time favourite form of
incentive, with various monetary incentive schemes in existence. Organisations, such as Burger King

John Winthrop And John Adams
John Winthrop and John Adams and their respective works were heavily influenced by their times.
Winthrop was a devout Puritan Christian that was escaping a persecuting king in the early to mid
seventeenth century. As a learned and religious man, he came to be the leader of this puritan sect that
was to establish a society unlike any other, free from religious corruption that his fellow people saw in
the Church of England, that would be a model community much like the Citty upon a Hill described in
the bible. On the other hand, John Adams experienced the tyranny of the British monarchy in a
contrasting way. This era was marked with worsened conditions for American colonists in terms of
economic and social taxations. Their literary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winthrop s political theory developed from an early age. As a religious man, one would expect him to
be a preacher, but he found his calling through law and leadership. Because he was such a devout
Puritan, he was chosen to spearhead the project of establishing the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which
was originally purposed for economic uses. This changed when the group elected him as governor,
which altered the purpose of the colony to be more religious in nature. As a result, this group of
Christians made an exodus from the old world with the mindset of establishing a true Christian society
, much like the Jews fleeing from Egypt, as described in the first testament, book of Exodus in the
Bible. They felt it was not only a privilege but a duty of God, and as the metaphorical and literal hands
of God, to uphold the values of a true Puritan society. This cemented in him a purpose to erect a
community that would be that Citty on a Hill that is so famously quoted.
In his address upon the Arabella, Winthrop reasoned that a society cannot have liberty without certain
guidelines. Although similar to the social contract theory of Hobbes, who argued for a strong central
government to prevent the evils that humanity naturally expresses, Winthrop argued for a strong
government that would not only prevent the sinful ways of people, but to create an environment that
Christians could fulfill their godly purposes it its

that is natural and important to them they are confined to barren cages, socially isolated, and

them to behave and live like their species. If a person were to have all of their possessions taken away,

Gospel Of John 2 Analysis
The purpose of the Gospel of John is clearly stated in verse 20:31: But these are written that you may
believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
The fourth Gospel needs to be read with that in mind, that each aspect is included to prove the divinity
of Jesus Christ. The second chapter of the Gospel of John tells of two distinct accounts; the first,
turning water into wine. The second; clearing the temple. Each of these accounts serve John s purpose
as stated in 20:31. John 2:1 11 tells of the wedding in Cana. In attendance was Jesus, his mother,
Mary, and His disciples. At some point during the festivities they ran out of wine. This was a serious
offense in Jewish culture. Running out of wine would have been humiliating and would follow the
bridge and groom for the remainder of their lives. As hosts, the family had a social obligation to
provide the drink. When Mary approaches her son and informs Him of this, Woman, why do you

that biofeedback training could lessen anxiety level (Peter Pbert, 1992; Rice Blanchard, 1982; Brauer,
2008). It is believed that the significant difference is due to the limitation of biofeedback training.

Animal Farm Research Paper
Ever since the beginning of the human race, education played a paramount role in people s lives;
however, only few were allowed to have outstanding education while the majority had to be employed
in low paying jobs due to lack of education. In the Animal Farm, George Orwell reflects on the
Russian Revolution, as Old Major, a pig in Manor Farm, shares his message of rebelling against the
egotistical humans, which three intelligent pigs Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer pass on by
organizing the Animalism. Although the rebellion breaks out successfully and the farm name changes
to Animal Farm, things go sordid when Napoleon takes the leadership by sending Snowball into an
exile. Numbers of tragic events occur under Napoleon s atrocious leadership ... Show more content on

After Napoleon expels Snowball, animals are situated in a dilemma, in which Boxer convinces
himself by simply saying, If Comrade Napoleon says it, it must be right (Orwell 56). Boxer s low
intellectuality causes him to have a difficult time fully making out the situation, resulting in him
naively respecting Napoleon and everything that is told. This was the exact case of the working class
during the Russian Revolution no one clarified to them what was right or wrong that they had to
believe their leader, Joseph Stalin, without doubt. Subsequent to the unexpected abominable execution
of animals, Boxer ponders for a while, for nothing of this kind has ever happened before, and he says,
I do not understand it... It must be due to some fault in ourselves. The solution...is to work harder ...I
shall get up a full hour earlier in the mornings (Orwell 85). With the mental and emotional struggle, all
the unpredicted tragedies in Animal Farm only encourages Boxer to work harder instead of looking for
better solution. The working class people were unable to do anything, besides work, during the time of
turmoil, hoping to make the situation better. Despite the character of Boxer and the working class
people, their lack of education induces them to be manipulated and work with all of their strength,

Boroca Language Development
1. The researchers learned so much about the three areas that support the language development in the
human brain. Having the technology, the researchers can monitor activities in the brain while using
language. There is parts of the brain that can let us use language more ways than we can imagine. The
important area of the brain is the Bronca which has an important part for our speech. This is located at
the left part of brain by the frontal part. This controls our tongue and lips which help dictation and the
pronunciation of words. If we did not have this, it would be impossible to speak without interpretation
of what is being said. On the other side of the Broca s area is the Wernicke s area. The location for this
is in the rear on left

Oxidative Stress Key Research Data and Analysis
Key Research Data and Analysis Study 1: Ipc1 controls the Pkc1 activation by modulation of DAG
Regulation of DAG and phytoceramide by Ipc1. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains were
exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1 strain increased
when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed by glucose.
Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated by glucose in the
GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1 was up or down
regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and Phytoceramide exposure. Since
IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors wanted to explore if DAG or
phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid
micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1 was measured in absence or presence of
lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min/mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1
activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In order to make sure kinase activity measured was
specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did
not cause phosphorylation of histone, which was expected (Fig. 3B). When phytoceramide lipids were
added, Pkc1 activity decreased by about 50% compared to no phytoceramide, which was expected
because phtyoceramide is an inhibitor of Pkc1 (Fig. 3C). Study 2:

Scada System
Supervisor control and data acquisition
I am going to discuss in brief the SCADA system in GASCO which is one of the biggest MIS in Egypt
as it responsible for control natural gas all over Egypt.
GASCO (Egyptian natural gas company), is the greatest and the only company in Egypt responsible
for transmition of natural gas all over Egypt starting from natural gas wells in seas or deserts and
finally to the huge customers (i.e electrical power station, cement and steel factories)
SCADA system
A SCADA (or supervisory control and data acquisition) system means a system consisting of a
number of remote terminal units (or RTUs) collecting field data connected back to a master station via
a communications system. The master station ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These systems are sold as turn key solutions. The main problem with this system is the overwhelming
reliance on the supplier of the system. Open software systems have gained popularity because of the
interoperability they bring to the system. Interoperability is the ability to mix different manufacturers
equipment on the same system.
Citect and WonderWare are just two of the open software packages available in the market for
SCADA systems. Some packages are now including asset management integrated within the SCADA
system. The typical components of a SCADA system are indicated in the next diagram.

SCADA and local area networks
Local area networks (LAN) are all about sharing information and resources. To enable all the nodes on
the SCADA network to share information, they must be connected by some transmission medium. The
method of connection is known as the network topology.
Nodes need to share this transmission medium in such a way as to allow all nodes access to the
medium without disrupting an established sender.
A LAN is a communication path between computers, file servers, terminals, workstations, and various
other intelligent peripheral equipments, which are generally referred to as devices or hosts. A LAN
allows access for devices to be shared by several users, with full connectivity between all stations on
the network. A LAN is usually owned and administered by a private owner and is located within a

Long story short, Father Thomas gets murdered by another priest, Father John. That is, until his presidency pushed him on to the global scene making it nearly impossible to underachieve like he did in school and in the military. Before he could do so, Bricken made it clear to Bush that he had not yet fulfilled the obligation agreed upon when he entered the service, but Bricken approved his request anyhow. Much to the dismay of Bush, on July 31, 1972, the Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) overruled Bush s transfer request, saying that he could not be reassigned to an Air Reserve Squadron in Montgomery because of his service obligations. Against the orders of his superior officers, Bush relocated to Alabama anyway, leaving his guard responsibilities unresolved. The title of DeLillo s eighth novel White Noise brings forth many assumptions towards the overall meaning of the book. If one was to generally interpret the meaning, white noise is produced when sound waves are joined together creating a constant buzz. This buzz can produce a relaxing or an overwhelming feeling, depending, if it refers to a repetitive noise one is trying to avoid or perhaps noise one is trying to embrace. With this being said, DeLillo s White Noise is set in the twentieth century, and tells a story about a college professor by the name of Jack Gladney who is a professor for the Hitler Studies at College on the Hill. Throughout the novel it is evident that Jack is the main character and the narrator of the story, who experiences a constant murmur of his underlying fear of death invading his thoughts. The constant reminder of white noise causes Jack to have uncertainties that stop him from repressing death in the society around him. As a result, Jack is challenged with many obstacles as he tries to avoid, cope, and confront the thought of death while diminishing the white noise that he is trying to escape. Avoidance is choosing to hide from the inevitable truth instead of accepting the thought of death. Also, in a time of AIDS, promotion of sexual promiscuity is a dangerous thing: never have the writers mentioned the use of condoms by Chef during his encounters. Finally, because of the recent advances in genetic research and its awakening of new fears in the public, South Park s parody of the geneticist could further play on people s fears. By now, our mother trusted us to walk to town unaccompanied to pick up a few groceries, happy to do so, we carried our willow shopping basket, money in one hand and a grocery list in the other, with a note to give to the store clerk who would gather the required items for us. We felt so grown up as we walked to the Abtsweg together, not in a group as we did when we walked to school with our friends, but just the two of us; my sister and I, wearing matching brown coats and perfectly starched bows in our hair. The Boer War, a trifling affair that spans over a course of twenty two years, 1880 1902, also known as the Transvaal War and the South African War, has good and bad everlasting effects on the people of South Africa by the deterioration of the Boers and Afrikaners and the forcefully implied English rule. Some of them are in an urgent situation and we can tolerate that there is no time to be polite but most of them, whatever they are doing, are not in a hurry. People are usually able to judge whether the rude person was in a crucial situation. It s true that it gets really frustrating to see the impolite person walk away like nothing happened when my feelings are hurt. It is becoming certain that manners and courtesies are disappearing at a rapid speed. Manners have been greatly valued and judged since the ancient times, but not anymore. People who did not keep their ways to monarchs or even to high officials were often severely punished or executed. Whenever I did something that was unmannerly, my parents punished me very harshly, usually with a long stick that I brought home with me from camping. I always regretted that I brought that stick home. Now, that I reflect on the things that I ve done to my parents, I think they made the right choice. Manners are important because they show love, gratitude, and respect toward another when practiced. They affect how we speak or act in a given situation. The next technique of individualized work, is based on Taylor s conviction that personal ambition would supersede the desire for general welfare as an incentive to exertion (Whyte, 1969, p.5). This is almost in complete contradiction with businesses like McDonald s, where the focus is on teamwork. Then, taking a look at the technique of scientific selection, various research conducted has confirmed the importance of scientific assessment of prospective employees. Winthrop s political theory developed from an early age. As a religious man, one would expect him to be a preacher, but he found his calling through law and leadership. This changed when the group elected him as governor, which altered the purpose of the colony to be more religious in nature. As a result, this group of Christians made an exodus from the old world with the mindset of establishing a true Christian society , much like the Jews fleeing from Egypt, as described in the first testament, book of Exodus in the Bible. They felt it was not only a privilege but a duty of God, and as the metaphorical and literal hands of God, to uphold the values of a true Puritan society. This cemented in him a purpose to erect a community that would be that Citty on a Hill that is so famously quoted. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains were exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1 strain increased when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed by glucose. Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated by glucose in the GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1 was up or down regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and Phytoceramide exposure. Since IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors wanted to explore if DAG or phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1 was measured in absence or presence of lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min/mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1 activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In order to make sure kinase activity measured was specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did not cause phosphorylation of histone, which was expected (Fig. 3B).
