Gang Life By Robert J. Duran Essay
The book, Gang Life in Two Cities by Robert J. Durán to put simply is about the gang life in Denver,
CO and Ogden, UT. Durán wrote this book to share his research findings. When Durán had to move to
Huntsville, UT (but went to school in Ogden) he found himself immersed in an area where gangs were
becoming popular. Durán, an ex gang member himself was curious on how and why gangs operate. He
found this research important, because he saw firsthand how society had a role in the formation of
gangs. Duran felt that it needed to be brought to light what he witnessed while being a gang member
himself and when he conducted his research. This book was different than other literature that had
been produced, because Duran was able to get closer and inspect the deeper characteristics of gang life
and gang members themselves. This is something that other researchers in the field are typically not
able to accomplish. He took on the perspective of investigating what role racial oppression had with
the development of gangs. His perspective and his ex gang membership background allowed him to be
more trusted by all the gang members that he interviewed for this research. As mentioned previously
Duran did conduct interviews as part of his data collection, but this wasn t his full methodology.
Duran used a multimethodological approach termed ethnography. Ethnography method allowed Duran
to gather historical analysis, non participant and participant observation, semi structured

Frito Lay Essay
Specifications As a summer engineering intern at Frito Lay, the importance of maintaining standards
and quality on all projects has been reinforced to me daily. Considering that Frito Lay is an
organization with worldwide product distribution, protecting both the brand and the consumer is
understandably important. To ensure product consistency, the use of specifications is leveraged
throughout the company to detail operating consistency, safety protocol, and product quality
standards. With the pressure placed on engineers to guarantee that implemented solutions are safe and
will perform as expected, there is a tendency to overuse specifications. In their attempts to cover all
the bases, engineers sometimes design excessive requirements ... Show more content on

owns the design specification and will not share details with competing suppliers. In addition, the GES
specification document calls out specific quality and safety design requirements for vendors to follow.
Compliance to the National Electrical code to insure proper electrical safety protocol is followed is the
overriding safety specification throughout the GES specification document. On the quality front,
design specifications detail maximum system drop point acceptance to minimize product (Potato
Chips tend to break if not handled gently) breakage. Frito Lay s commitment to excellent and the
culture for detail that has evolved as a result help ensure that only high quality products that are safe
both to produce and to consume make it to market. To take a less structured approach would come
with high risk. As the upside of doing things correctly far outweighs the downside related to the risk of
failure, I recommend that Frito Lay continue to leverage the same expectation for detail on all future
projects. In order to assist new employees who may join existing project teams, I would also
recommend that the company provide training on how to interpret and write

Examples Of Silence In Fahrenheit 451
Montag lives in a selfish society where everyone thinks solely about themselves. When Montag says
this is the age of the disposable tissue, he is not really referencing the handkerchief someone would
blow their nose with. He is enlightening the reader on how people in his society only utilize other
people for the goods and services they contribute. Someone in his society would be friends with
another person merely because they could benefit them in some way. An example from the book that
would prove he is correct is when Mildred uses Montag for the money he is able to provide her with.
When he threatens to quit his job, she leaves him and calls the fire department exposing his secret
stash of books. He is implying that this is an unacceptable way of life. Montag used to act this way
and think nothing of it. Then he met Clarisse and she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being alone in a silent room with only my thoughts makes me feel uncomfortable. My mind has free
roam in silence to go wherever it wants. I never truly have silence because I fill it with other things.
The things vary, from homework to music on my speaker, to Netflix on my TV. It has become hard for
me to complete simple household tasks without some sound to fill my brain. I have been taught since I
was young that silence is bad, it s awkward, it s not desirable. Filling my time with things to do is a
much better use of the limited time I am allowed on this earth. I think this is because my phone is
always there with me, buzzing, ringing, chirping, and pinging. It doesn t allow silence to creep its way
in. It keeps me engaged all the time leaving no time left for me. I see that my mom enjoys silence and
so does my older sister, but somehow I do not. I see what my phone does but somehow I am addicted.
It s worse than a drug because I can not go without it. It has changed the lives of people in my
generation and there is no going back. Technology ruined silence and will ruin our

My Passion For Musical Theatre
The world is packed full of talented individuals. Every individual has something that can be
considered a talent. Specifically, in musical theatre, talented actors, singers, and dancers are in
abundance. But being talented isn t what makes a successful artist. The industry has created a skewed
vision of success . Many consider a successful artist to be simply talented, but I believe it goes beyond
talent. One s work ethic and character should be equally if not more prioritized than talent. Though
talent is completely necessary, one must realize that as actors, we will encounter a multitude of
contrasting roles, but the role we will play for the rest of our lives is ourself.
I was not the typical musical theatre kid growing up. Even though from a young age I was convinced I
would pursue musical theatre in some degree as an adult, I was not continually involved in dance,
voice and acting classes. Being raised in a family of eight created a financial barrier to be involved in
an abundance of training. My devoted parents, who run a nonprofit marriage ministry, kept me
involved in my passion of theatre as much as possible. It was difficult seeing many of my peers being
involved in numerous classes and productions I longed to be a part of. As I entered high school, I had
a decision to make. I could either let the negativity and comparison to others I was feeling diminish
my passion for musical theatre or I could continually strive towards success to the best of my ability.

Forrest Gump Quotes

Kourtney Hake
English 101

Run Forrest, Run! Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re going to get This
quote perfectly describes the theme/thesis of the film and was Forrest s motto. Life will take you so far
from where you are from, so there is no point in worrying about it (Kartha). Forrest Gump is carried
by faith, wit, finesse, ignorance, and love throughout the plot. Forrest Gump may have not understood
his place in those events, but he did have an impact on the society around him. At the basis of the
movie, it is a love story, between Forest and Jenny. While he spends nearly the whole movie mooning
over Jenny, she spends the whole movie trying to escape that love until the end. To her, love is sick
and twisted because all she s ever known is her father s abusive version of it. But eventually, Forrest s
unchanging love (and a tragic encounter with AIDS) transformed Jenny. There is plenty of examples
in the film, of how gump uses his wit or just goes with the flow and the results of it each time it
occurs. Throughout the novel Forrest Gump the main character, Forrest, is made out to look like a
slow, dim witted individual by his peers but perhaps he may not be as unintelligent as everyone thinks.

Forrest Gump begins his narrative with him in the doctor s office getting a new pair of shoes. A pair of
leg braces designed to straighten his back. This sets the tone of his character for the movie because
you realize that he is not a normal child. Since the beginning of organized culture in the United States,
people with disabilities were considered meager, tragic, pitiful individuals unfit and unable to
contribute to society, except to serve as ridiculed objects of entertainment in circuses and exhibitions.
They were assumed to be abnormal and feeble minded, and numerous persons were forced to undergo

Book Report On Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes By Chris Crutcher
Courage isn t always about defeating the villain. Courage is about smaller more simple acts
throughout the day. Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crutcher is a book about Eric Calhoune
and Sarah Byrns who are both outcast in high school for how they look. When Sarah suddenly goes
quiet and Eric learns her secret and everything changes. The people that show courage in Staying Fat
For Sarah Byrnes are Sarah Byrns, Eric Calhoune, and Brittain. They show courage by small everyday
acts that can turn people s life around. Throughout this book Sarah Byrns shows a lot of courage. One
of the biggest things she did that showed courage is when she came home to her mean abusive father
everyday knowing that she was going to get abused nd knowing that h could do worse things then just
burn her face. (All throughout beginning of book) This took a lot of courage because she couldn t go

Byrns that he knew were Sarah was but he wasn t going to tell him where she is. (236 239). The
reason why this took so much courage is because this showed Mr. Byrnes how much Eric cared and
loved Sarah that he would risk his life for Sarah because he knows that she would do the same for
him. He knew that Mr. Byrnes was going to be mad he could have just not told Mr. Byrnes but he
wanted to get Mr. Byrnes angry. Sometimes courage isn t the smartest thing to do it s the thing you
think is best. Another place that Eric showed courage is when Eric and his Teacher Ms. Lemry went
out and tried to find Sarah when she ran away from home. (277 279) This took courage from Eric
because he knew that Mr. Byrnes was on the loose and that they could cross paths and if they did he
would try to kill Eric. That s way it shows so much courage that he would put his life on the line for
someone else and that s true

A Comparison of Self-Descriptions Between 2 Children of...
A comparison of self descriptions between two children of different ages
Abstract
The comparison is based on Rosenberg s study of children s self descriptions. A comparison was made
between two participants, Annie aged 8 and Kirsty aged 16 using a semi structured interview to find
out whether there was a difference in self descriptions at different ages. The results were analysed
using qualitative analysis and it was found that younger children give more physical self descriptions
and older children give more self descriptions in terms of inner feelings. This coincides with previous
research conducted by Rosenberg. From this study and previous research it is possible to suggest that
there is a developmental trend of children s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One Researcher interviewed Annie at her primary school and the other researcher interviewed Kirsty
at her secondary school. The participants were introduced to the researcher and informed the nature of
the research and were told why the research is being carried out in order to comply with ethical
guidelines. The participants were then instructed to write 10 I statements about themselves to answer
the question who am I? on the category analysis form. The participants were told that there are no
right or wrong answers and that they can write as much or as little as they would like about
themselves. (A transcript of the instructions can be found in Appendix 3). The recordings were
stopped while the participants filled in the I statements . Once the participants had written the I
statements the recording equipment was turned back on and the interviewer asked the participants
questions relating to what they had written. The style in which the interviewer asked questions was
based on Rosenberg s study of self descriptions. These included questions regarding feelings of pride
and shame, their ideas of distinctiveness as unique individuals, what kind of person they would like to
become, and who knew them best in order to determine the locus of self knowledge . At the end of
each interview the researcher

Stereotypes In Of Coming Of John
The next race to come across some major stereotypes are the African Americans. Although every race
has the ordeal that it had to go through one of the worse challenges that were thought of were given to
the African Americans which made life horrible for them in the past, still in the present, and more than
likely in the future as well. In the short story Of Coming of John, by W.E.B. DuBois It was perceived
that when it comes to education matters the African American community is not very upcoming while
the caucasian community is always very pleased and supportive of everything that someone of their
race does. In the short story when the black John had decided that he wanted to go off to school no
one was in support of him but against the fact of him going away while when the white John had told
everyone that he wanted to go off for school everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even more evidence of the racial stereotypes that is given to African American people is evident in
Native Son, when it was stated that all black men want to do is go out and rape white women, (Wright
page 351 ). This places a stereotype upon us that is ultimately hard to escape from, with people
running from you without even taking the chance to get to know you and you having to prove yourself
to them from a distance, even though deep down you know you will never be good enough to please
them. While most forms of racial stereotypes follow in the fashion of others judging you because of
the rumors they hear, it also comes in the form of them using very invective language towards you. As
seen by Richard Wright on page 337, all of the white people were calling Bigger racial names and
racial slurs in an attempt to try and dehumanize him from all other humans so that way they feel better
for the horrible way that they were treating

The Political History Of The Usa
The political history of the USA has seen some of the biggest struggles to make the country open
minded towards the issues of race since the Civil War. For most Americans, present day America still
remains segregated. Statistics have shown that the discrimination throughout history has been used in
a direct behavior against African American people. Discrimination is the overarching theme and factor
in cases of education, the judicial system, and the media portrayal of the race. This paper will examine
the continued discrimination exhibited in today s world in relation to the plot of A Lesson Before
Dying and how discrimination plays a vital role in the institutional decisions that majorly affect the
African American race.
One of the biggest sector infested with the problem of discrimination throughout history is the judicial
system. Discrimination seems to flow from both the attitudinal predispositions of the judges and the
process they employ to make decisions (Gibson). The belief that a high rate of violence among blacks
is inevitable and normal is partly grounded in racial stereotypes (Hawkins) and, one of the three
African American boys born in 2001, can expect to spend time in prison and nearly 40% of all
prisoners today are African American (Mauer) is alarming. Most of the US court juries have only
consisted of white men and across all age categories, black males were incarcerated at higher rates
than white or Hispanic males while the custody incarceration rate

The Parable Of The Good Samaritan In Honduras
Back in 2003, while a missionary in Honduras, I came across a gentleman in a small village in central
Honduras who, from my point of view, was poor, out of work and had a need the size of Texas with a
family that almost matched the population of Texas. At the time, and being new in the mission field,
all I could do was to compare him to my standard of living. I had nothing else to go on. My immediate
reaction was to help him. I thought to myself, I am going to offer this man a job and help him come
out of his plight. I knew that I could not just give him what he needed because of what I had learned in
the past. As the old proverb goes, Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish

According to recent reports by the health and safety executive, there are thousands of cases that are

Seymour B. Sarason makes some excellent points and makes sure to instill a sense of agency and

working with these new organizations. However, I chose not to use this piece in my final project. The
reason for this choice is simple: The information was not relevant in the context of my argument.
While this book is by all means a reputable source of information, the book was published in 1998,
almost twenty years prior to my presentation, making the source out of date. Though many of the
claims were accurate for the time, not all are accurate for today. Charter Schools was a good read, but
the information I need for my presentation looks at a more recent scope of the subject and how it
affects students today and how it may affect future students. Sarason s text would have been relevant
if I was doing an informative piece about why charter schools fail (or succeed) or how the instatement
of charter schools can better benefit the student, just to name a few examples. As it stands, however,
this piece did not provide me with the information I needed, and thusly I did not use

can standardize degenerate conduct with balance methods. Understudies kill their degenerate duping
conduct by the possibility that depending on the circumstance their standards and principles
controlling conduct to act freak can be legitimized. They likewise utilize the five methods of balance
called disavowal of responsibility, judgment of condemners, appeal to higher loyalties, foreswearing
of harm, and refusal of casualty. These help concoct rationalization or contend that there are special
conditions that exist, which make them confer freak conduct. A standout amongst the regularly
balances utilized by miscreants was dissent of responsibility , which includes the wrongdoer to
pronounce that they can t be considered responsible because of conditions and outside powers made
them must choose the option to submit the degenerate demonstration. For example, I was working
forty plus hours a week and we had a great deal to peruse for that day. I just couldn t get everything
in... I m not saying duping is alright, some of the time you simply need to. (LaBeff 1990, p.306) For
the balance, appeal to higher loyalties includes giving up responsibility and good commitments for
peer groups or expectations of others. The dependability to people makes them help companions to
cheat with a specific end goal to not double cross their relationship. For example, I was mentoring this
young lady yet she just couldn t comprehend the material... I felt I needed to help her on the test.
(LaBeff 1990, p.307) The balance, judgment of condemners accuses the expert figure (i.e. professors)
for their motivations to cheat and censure their educating aptitudes. The purposes behind degenerate
conduct of an individual is not their blame but rather another person s blame totally. For example, The

Moreover, Kfc Company must have responsibilities to care for the health and safety of its employees

Serious Case Reviews in Childcare Sector
Unit 25 Understand how to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People
Outcome 1.4
Explain when and why inquiries and serious case reviews are required and how the sharing of the
findings informs practice.
Serious Case Reviews (SCR s) are undertaken when a child dies (including death by suspected
suicide), by a local authority (and more often than not by the Local Children s Safeguarding Board) if
abuse or neglect is known or suspected to be a factor in the death. SCR s are not enquiries into how a
child died or who was responsible; that is a matter for the Coroner s and Criminal Courts to determine.
Instead the purpose of Serious Case Reviews is to:

The inquiry, chaired by Lord Laming, found massive failings on the part of as many as twelve
agencies with a role to play in protecting children. The findings led to recommendations for a radical
reform of services, particularly in the areas of better joined up working and information sharing.
Following this, several programmes and frameworks were later implemented into all establishments
that worked with children, and these included Every Child Matters services, planned around children s
and young people s needs and the improvement of the five key outcomes which contribute to their
well being: be healthy, stay safe, enjoy achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic
well being. There was also the implementation of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) system
which enables multi agencies to access and add information about a child s needs. The CAF is used at
the earliest opportunity when it is highlighted that a baby, child or young person may need help in
their lives in order to progress. It is used when there is concern about a child, or agencies have
recognised a child has additional needs, that require further exploration and a multi agency response.
The assessment provides further information and understanding of the child s circumstances.
Another more recently publicised incident, included the review into Little Teds nursery whereby a

My Memories Of My Life
At the moment of impact, my mind and body were immediately paralyzed by fear. A million thoughts
rushed through my head. Did this really just happen? Was I seriously injured? Were the people in the
other car injured? I can vaguely remember two men walking up to my car and asking if I was okay. I
was moving my mouth to speak, but the words just would not come out. Apparently, I was in a state of
shock. That Sunday morning turned out to be one of the hottest days of the summer. I so enjoyed the
time spent with my cousins and granddad, that the heat was the furthest thing from my mind. It had
been way too long between visits and I tried to savor every last moment. With school starting in just a
few weeks, I knew it would be quite some time before we could get together again. We stretched the
day as long as we could, but eventually it was time for us to say our goodbyes. As I got into my
beloved white Honda CR V and buckled my seatbelt, I texted my parents as I always do to let them
know I was on the way home. My dad quickly texted back, giving me the usual lecture about driving
safely and observing the speed limit on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, which recently reduced to 40
miles per hour and was always swarming with cops. I acknowledged my dad as I always did and I
assured him I would be careful. I drove the usual route along Moore Road and as I turned onto
Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, I heard my dad s voice in the back of my head reminding me to pay

Identical Tensions In Relational Dialectics
Although Baxter and Montgomery s Relational Dialectics provide a framework to understand
opposing forces within close relationships, and their constituents use them to understand dialectical
tensions within close relationships like marriages, scriptural integration is lacking, and further
research is needed to understand why dialectical tensions occur. According to Ebert (2000) conflict
and dialectic tensions are distinct concepts, he explains, ...the relationship between conflict and
dialectical (antagonistic or non antagonistic) and or non dialectical (p.641). Most importantly, some
research seeks to understand how marital relationships work through dialectical tensions,
circumstances that present dialectical tensions, and the various stages or turning points that dialectical
tensions occur. In other words, dialectical tensions work differently from conflicts, ... Show more

The Nuclear Family Essay
The Diminishing Nuclear Family
Hadar Mustafa
Jun29, 2015
Introduction More often than not, stable and functional families serve as a prerequisite to a good
society. Hence, the society s support system for families must be flexible because needs and goals of
families vary over time (Loveless, 2007). However, nuclear families face many challenges because
parenting, child rearing, and other economic responsibilities had to be done by two adults only
(Bowden Smith, 2010). In this paper, we look into the development of the nuclear family: its origin,
evolution, and status today. We also look into the most influential factors that led to the current status
of nuclear families. We also look into the recommendations that represent different values and belief
systems that promote the revival of degraded idealization and decline of the nuclear family.
The Modern Nuclear Family The development of the modern nuclear family is considered as a truly
remarkable element in the history of the human social organization. The modern nuclear family is
composed of a monogamous married couple living with their children, apart from their relatives. The
husband is working outside the home, while the wife is a full time mother and housewife. So, the
mother s role comprises cooking for the family and looking after the kids while father s role comprises
providing for the family and performing as a role model toward the kids. Unlike the traditional nuclear
family, the nuclear

Tacitus Intentions In Agricola
Claim: (Con element) Although Tacitus defines his intentions in writing Agricola as honoring his
father in law and giving testimony to the past and present, (assertion) his purpose is actually to push
future generations away from past societal errors, (warranting element) and this is important for
readers to uncover.
Con Evidence: Tacitus clearly defined his intentions within Agricola, to honor his father in law, and to
write about the past and present. In the preface of his writing he states ... a record of our former
servitude and a testimony to our present blessings. For the time being, this book, intended to honour
Agricola, my father in law, will be commended, or at least excused, as a tribute of dutiful affection. (3)

He expresses his book s purpose clearly, and portrays his book as a way to honor not just his father in
law Agricola, but the past and present also. He wishes to bring attention to the greatness of Agricola,
and the progress of Roman society in terms of freedom. The preface alone, proves the purpose behind
Tacitus s book, as he gives tribute to Agricola and Rome. Assertion Evidence: Tacitus s book,
Agricola, was written with the intention of leading the future generations away from the faults of the
past. In the preface of his book, Tacitus writes, We should have lost our memories as well as our
voices, were it as easy to forget as to be silent. (2) Tacitus writes of forgetting the past, and in turn
furthering society from the wrongdoings of the previous generations. Assertion Explanation: Despite
his written intentions, Tacitus s purpose in writing Agricola, is clearly that he wished to inspire further
generations and guide them away from past collective flaws. The preface alone communicates the idea
of moving on from the past generations, and growing from the mistakes that took place. By writing of
the trials and errors which once occurred, Tacitus is hoping to inspire the succeeding generations to

Frank Ocean s Record Label Analysis
Some corporations appear to be strategically finding approaches that enable them to file for sampling

record label insisted that Ocean did not secure a license to use Real Love , which the label only owns
3.15% of the song. TufAmerica also sued Kanye West for sampling from Eddie Bo s Hook Sling and
claimed that although West s labels paid a licensing fee, they failed and refused to enter into written
license agreements that accounted for their multiple other uses of Hook Sling (Newman, 2014, para.

Fellowship Of The Ring And Beowulf Comparison
The representation of an epic hero is found throughout Anglo Saxon literature. The origin of english
literature comes from Beowulf, the earliest known work written in old english. Beowulf is a renowned
epic that has been around for years and is the basis of epic literature. Beowulf closely relates to
another epic film called The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the ring, there are certain attributes
in both the film and poem that reflect the epic qualities. Just like any other epic Beowulf and The Lord
of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring contain qualities such as a grand journey or deed of some
sort, larger than life hero(s), and divine intervention.

In the Old English Literature Beowulf, Beowulf takes on the task of protecting Herot from Grendel.
Before Beowulf showed up to Herot, Grendel took control and was wreaking havoc for twelve years.
Herot fell apart and so did the king, Hrothgar, the only hope was Beowulf. Everyone was depending
on him to restore the peace and he did just that. Not only did Beowulf defeat Grendel he also
prevented any further attacks on Herot by going after Grendel s revenge seeking mother. When
Beowulf first arrives at Herot he is greeted at the door then escorted to the king where he states ...My
people have said, the wisest, most knowing and best of them, that my duty was to go to the Danes
Great King (lines 149 150). This quote shows how it was his duty to kill Grendel, also shows his
boastful hero qualities. While in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo and a
group of friends embark on a journey to destroy a ring that hold the power to rule all. I will take the
Ring to Mordor. Though I do not know the way , this was said by Frodo before they started their
journey to Mordor. Just like in Beowulf, the deed being done in the film is to protect the people from
being controlled unwillingly. These are both heroic deeds because it takes the courage and bravery no

If more quantity is sprayed, more thickness will be obtained. But the thickness cannot be built up more
than a finite value. After a certain thickness the heterogeneous reaction get stopped resulting to

sprayed every time on to the substrate with the above said parameter.
d. The precursor and its concentration Concentration of the solution is an important parameter
deciding the nature of the thin film in the spray pyrolysis method. High concentration of the solution
will yield powdery deposits because of quick evaporation of the solution. Also the thickness of the
film is not uniform. Less concentration of the solution will lower the substrate temperature and that
will also lead to homogeneous deposits. So a compromise in the concentration of the solution should
be made. In this study the home made nebulizer used at precursor concentration 0.2 M. e. Rate flow of
the nebulized solution The rate flow of nebulized solution is also important parameter of the nebulized
spray pyrolysis. If the flow rate is high, the substrate temperature will cooled. If the flow rate is very
low solution not reaches the substrate. So the pressure should optimum to get better

Tyler Wong Case Study
Former Toronto Marlies forward Tyler Wong lit up in pre season action on Sunday against the
Vancouver Canucks with 3g, 1a.
Vancouver, B.C. After a convincing 9 4 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, former Toronto Marlie
and Lethbridge Hurricanes captain Tyler Wong put on a clinic against the nucks in a 4 point effort.
This isn t the first time Tyler Wong has had a multi point game, as the diminutive forward tallied 109
points in 69 games in the WHL last season with the Hurricanes.
The undrafted 21 year old from Cochrane, Alberta may be familiar to some Leafs fans, as he
participated in both the development and training camp with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 16/17. Riding
a two goal performance in camp scrimmages, Wong showed off his speed and tenacity on the puck,
eventually earning an Amateur Tryout deal with the Toronto Marlies. ... Show more content on

Before becoming the first player in Golden Knights history to score a goal, Wong was a five time
winner of the Hurricanes Fan Favorite Award. This should not come as a surprise, as Wong finished
his career with the Hurricanes third all time in career games played (317), third in all time goals (143),
ninth in all time assists (155), and sixth all time in points (298).
Despite being 5 9, Tyler Wong has all the markings to be a successful player in the NHL.
With the abundance of talent and undersized wingers the Leafs have (Bracco, Johnson, and Dzierkals
to name a few), it is safe to say it would have been far near impossible for Tyler Wong to get
significant playing time within the Maple Leafs organization.
Did the Leafs make the Wong decision letting him go? Only time can tell what calibre of an NHL
player Tyler Wong will be, but if he continues this level of play, the Golden Nights will be forced to
give him a

  • 3. Gang Life By Robert J. Duran Essay The book, Gang Life in Two Cities by Robert J. Durán to put simply is about the gang life in Denver, CO and Ogden, UT. Durán wrote this book to share his research findings. When Durán had to move to Huntsville, UT (but went to school in Ogden) he found himself immersed in an area where gangs were becoming popular. Durán, an ex gang member himself was curious on how and why gangs operate. He found this research important, because he saw firsthand how society had a role in the formation of gangs. Duran felt that it needed to be brought to light what he witnessed while being a gang member himself and when he conducted his research. This book was different than other literature that had been produced, because Duran was able to get closer and inspect the deeper characteristics of gang life and gang members themselves. This is something that other researchers in the field are typically not able to accomplish. He took on the perspective of investigating what role racial oppression had with the development of gangs. His perspective and his ex gang membership background allowed him to be more trusted by all the gang members that he interviewed for this research. As mentioned previously Duran did conduct interviews as part of his data collection, but this wasn t his full methodology. Duran used a multimethodological approach termed ethnography. Ethnography method allowed Duran to gather historical analysis, non participant and participant observation, semi structured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Frito Lay Essay Specifications As a summer engineering intern at Frito Lay, the importance of maintaining standards and quality on all projects has been reinforced to me daily. Considering that Frito Lay is an organization with worldwide product distribution, protecting both the brand and the consumer is understandably important. To ensure product consistency, the use of specifications is leveraged throughout the company to detail operating consistency, safety protocol, and product quality standards. With the pressure placed on engineers to guarantee that implemented solutions are safe and will perform as expected, there is a tendency to overuse specifications. In their attempts to cover all the bases, engineers sometimes design excessive requirements ... In addition, the GES specification document calls out specific quality and safety design requirements for vendors to follow. Compliance to the National Electrical code to insure proper electrical safety protocol is followed is the overriding safety specification throughout the GES specification document. On the quality front, design specifications detail maximum system drop point acceptance to minimize product (Potato Chips tend to break if not handled gently) breakage. Frito Lay s commitment to excellent and the culture for detail that has evolved as a result help ensure that only high quality products that are safe both to produce and to consume make it to market. To take a less structured approach would come with high risk. As the upside of doing things correctly far outweighs the downside related to the risk of failure, I recommend that Frito Lay continue to leverage the same expectation for detail on all future projects. In order to assist new employees who may join existing project teams, I would also recommend that the company provide training on how to interpret and write ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Examples Of Silence In Fahrenheit 451 Montag lives in a selfish society where everyone thinks solely about themselves. When Montag says this is the age of the disposable tissue, he is not really referencing the handkerchief someone would blow their nose with. He is enlightening the reader on how people in his society only utilize other people for the goods and services they contribute. Someone in his society would be friends with another person merely because they could benefit them in some way. An example from the book that would prove he is correct is when Mildred uses Montag for the money he is able to provide her with. When he threatens to quit his job, she leaves him and calls the fire department exposing his secret stash of books. He is implying that this is an unacceptable way of life. Montag used to act this way and think nothing of it. Then he met Clarisse and she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being alone in a silent room with only my thoughts makes me feel uncomfortable. My mind has free roam in silence to go wherever it wants. I never truly have silence because I fill it with other things. The things vary, from homework to music on my speaker, to Netflix on my TV. It has become hard for me to complete simple household tasks without some sound to fill my brain. I have been taught since I was young that silence is bad, it s awkward, it s not desirable. Filling my time with things to do is a much better use of the limited time I am allowed on this earth. I think this is because my phone is always there with me, buzzing, ringing, chirping, and pinging. It doesn t allow silence to creep its way in. It keeps me engaged all the time leaving no time left for me. I see that my mom enjoys silence and so does my older sister, but somehow I do not. I see what my phone does but somehow I am addicted. It s worse than a drug because I can not go without it. It has changed the lives of people in my generation and there is no going back. Technology ruined silence and will ruin our ... • 6. My Passion For Musical Theatre The world is packed full of talented individuals. Every individual has something that can be considered a talent. Specifically, in musical theatre, talented actors, singers, and dancers are in abundance. But being talented isn t what makes a successful artist. The industry has created a skewed vision of success . Many consider a successful artist to be simply talented, but I believe it goes beyond talent. One s work ethic and character should be equally if not more prioritized than talent. Though talent is completely necessary, one must realize that as actors, we will encounter a multitude of contrasting roles, but the role we will play for the rest of our lives is ourself. I was not the typical musical theatre kid growing up. Even though from a young age I was convinced I would pursue musical theatre in some degree as an adult, I was not continually involved in dance, voice and acting classes. Being raised in a family of eight created a financial barrier to be involved in an abundance of training. My devoted parents, who run a nonprofit marriage ministry, kept me involved in my passion of theatre as much as possible. It was difficult seeing many of my peers being involved in numerous classes and productions I longed to be a part of. As I entered high school, I had a decision to make. I could either let the negativity and comparison to others I was feeling diminish my passion for musical theatre or I could continually strive towards success to the best of my ability. I ... • 7. Forrest Gump Quotes Eliyah Bazile Kourtney Hake English 101 4/24/2018 Run Forrest, Run! Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re going to get This quote perfectly describes the theme/thesis of the film and was Forrest s motto. Life will take you so far from where you are from, so there is no point in worrying about it (Kartha). Forrest Gump is carried by faith, wit, finesse, ignorance, and love throughout the plot. Forrest Gump may have not understood his place in those events, but he did have an impact on the society around him. At the basis of the movie, it is a love story, between Forest and Jenny. While he spends nearly the whole movie mooning over Jenny, she spends the whole movie trying to escape that love until the end. To her, love is sick and twisted because all she s ever known is her father s abusive version of it. But eventually, Forrest s unchanging love (and a tragic encounter with AIDS) transformed Jenny. There is plenty of examples in the film, of how gump uses his wit or just goes with the flow and the results of it each time it occurs. Throughout the novel Forrest Gump the main character, Forrest, is made out to look like a slow, dim witted individual by his peers but perhaps he may not be as unintelligent as everyone thinks. ... Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crutcher is a book about Eric Calhoune and Sarah Byrns who are both outcast in high school for how they look. When Sarah suddenly goes quiet and Eric learns her secret and everything changes. The people that show courage in Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes are Sarah Byrns, Eric Calhoune, and Brittain. They show courage by small everyday acts that can turn people s life around. Throughout this book Sarah Byrns shows a lot of courage. One of the biggest things she did that showed courage is when she came home to her mean abusive father everyday knowing that she was going to get abused nd knowing that h could do worse things then just burn her face. A comparison of self descriptions between two children of different ages Abstract The comparison is based on Rosenberg s study of children s self descriptions. A comparison was made between two participants, Annie aged 8 and Kirsty aged 16 using a semi structured interview to find out whether there was a difference in self descriptions at different ages. The results were analysed using qualitative analysis and it was found that younger children give more physical self descriptions and older children give more self descriptions in terms of inner feelings. Although every race has the ordeal that it had to go through one of the worse challenges that were thought of were given to the African Americans which made life horrible for them in the past, still in the present, and more than likely in the future as well. In the short story Of Coming of John, by W.E.B. DuBois It was perceived that when it comes to education matters the African American community is not very upcoming while the caucasian community is always very pleased and supportive of everything that someone of their race does. While most forms of racial stereotypes follow in the fashion of others judging you because of the rumors they hear, it also comes in the form of them using very invective language towards you. Hence, the society s support system for families must be flexible because needs and goals of families vary over time (Loveless, 2007). However, nuclear families face many challenges because parenting, child rearing, and other economic responsibilities had to be done by two adults only (Bowden Smith, 2010).
