Learning Worthy Curriculum And Its Impact On Middle Level...
Through the completion of this project, I was given the opportunity to increase my knowledge in a
number of ways. It allowed me to expand my ability to use reflective skills as I made connections
between my personal philosophy of the education of young adolescents with the coursework, field
experiences, and literature. I found this project quite difficult because the This We Believe
characteristics were all great for a successful school for young adolescents. To make my selection of
my top five characteristics, I had to use the order of elimination by evaluating and synthesizing each
statements. The first characteristic that I chose was Curriculum is challenging, exploratory, integrative,

The curriculum is considered rich when the materials, core, and class are challenging and exploratory.
The inclusion of substantive issues and skills, prior knowledge challenges, and the ability to enable
students to take responsibility for their learning are all ways to make curriculum rich or challenging.
(Powell, Sara D.; pg. 145) Along with challenging, exploratory curriculum allows students to make
discoveries and choices. As discussed in class, giving students a choice will open the door to
successful and self motivational learning. The word, REAL, would be compared to the statement s
word integrative . The textbook and class discussions helped me to understand the importance of
connecting curriculum to students lives and the real world. I learned that a student will be more eager
to participate, learn, and care about curriculum that has purpose outside of the learning environment.
By simply including real world scenarios in word problems, the students will feel the connections and
grasp the content easier and faster. The phrases making sense of content and experiences is used in the
textbook to show the importance of integrative curriculum. Lastly, the curriculum must show
relevance. In class discussion, my classmates and I all agreed that we all despise coursework that has
no purpose. Busy work is the term used in class to describe irrelevant curriculum. Relevant curriculum
allows students to expand their knowledge by

Persuasive Essay On The Open Carry Law
Ever since the president Donald J. Trump was elected, the country has been divided greatly due to
racism just how it occurred in the 1950 s. In 1955, Rosa Parks, a black woman, was arrested because
she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. This event caused a great uproar amongst
the Whites and the Blacks that lead into many civil right movements in which the Black people
participated by protesting. For example, the incident that occurred on August 12 of this year with the
an anti white supremacist group who was protesting in the same city as the white supremacist
protesters. A random person drove their car into the crowd of the anti white supremacist protesters and
ended up killing one woman and left dozen more seriously injured. To this incident, President Trump
gave a press conference about the horrific act of the murder while stating that there were good and bad
people on either side, justifying the act of the murder of running over the anti white supremacists.
Sadly, while Trump remains in office, the country will not become less violent and people from
different races will end up shooting each with or without the open carry law. California has become
more violent over time, especially with President Trump in office. No one is safe in public and if the
decision to open carry is reinstated, the law would be a much safer choice for anyone who wants to
protect themselves and their loved ones. While some people may argue that guns are better

Bullfrogs as most of the other frogs and toads, are faced with an unusual locomotory challenge. They
have to swim and jump using primary the hind limbs. The foot possess five rays and hand posses fore
rays. Hind limbs and fore limbs posses a web like structure to help frog locomotion also in water
(Nauwalaerts, Sandra et al, 2007).
Respiratory system
Bullfrogs as many other amphibians use three respiratory surfaces for gas exchange: skin, mouth, and
lungs. In bullfrogs lungs are present in adults
(Hickman, 2006). On land Bullfrogs breath with their mouths closed. Bullfrogs present a positive lung
pressure for breathing (Heckman, 2007). Their throat movements pull air through the nostrils to the
lungs. Then breathe out with body contractions. Bullfrogs can also respire under the water through the
skin using a process called cutaneous gas exchange. They use their skin for oxygen/carbon dioxide
exchange (Stinner N, Jerry, and Shoemaker, H. Vaughan, 1987)
Digestive system
Bullfrogs are voracious eaters, and will eat just about any animal they can swallow. These include:
insects, crayfish, worms, minnows, other frogs (even Bullfrogs), small turtles, snakes, baby birds, and
small mammals. They are most active at night.
The frog digestive system, like most other digestive systems, starts in the mouth. Prey, which is
sometimes caught by the frog s sticky tongue, is diced by tooth like structures in the mouth. The food

Essay On Hand-Engineered Feature Extraction Techniques
2.1 Introduction
In last few years, remote sensing image scene classification has got a remarkable attention due to its
importance. Researchers are trying hard to classify remote sensing images correctly. For this reason,
we have studied different topics related to this research. Rest of this chapter will describe some
important Hand Engineered feature extraction methods along with deep learning technique. In section
2.2, we will discuss some hand engineered feature extraction methods, in section 2.3, we will discuss
some deep learning models and finally, in section 2.4 we will draw a conclusion.

LBP [1] is very simple to understand and easy to implement. To compute LBP at first we need to
divide the image into cells like 16X16. Then take a pixel into the grid and consider the neighboring
pixels around the pixel. If the center pixel value is greater than or equal to its neighbor, then consider
1 for the neighboring pixel otherwise consider 0. Then take the binary numbers in a sequence
(clockwise or anti clockwise). Assume the number is a binary number and compute the decimal
number. Then set the value to the middle pixel. Compute histogram for each 16x16 cells and finally
concatenate the histograms. The histogram gives the feature vector for entire window. Example of
LBP feature extraction is given in the Figure 2.1
Figure 2.1: Finding decimal value for central pixel using LBP
LBP has some limitations that reduces its application fields. LBP is not rotation invariant and the size
of the features increases exponentially with the number of neighbors which leads to an increase of
computational complexity in terms of time and space.
2.2.1 Noise Adaptive Binary Pattern (NABP)
Noise adaptive binary pattern [12] is a modification of local binary pattern. Though LPB is one of the
most powerful method for feature extraction but it has a lack of discriminative power and sensitive to

Many of the biggest startups of our time were started by a group of people rather than a single one.
Jobs had Wozniak, Gates had Allen, and Page had Brin to help them out. The fact that some of the
smartest people in the world needed help to accomplish their dreams is the reason that I have chosen
to apply to these honors programs. My goal in life is to change the world and create a startup not for

overwhelming answer surprised me. Other than a few websites such as The Flat Earth Society wiki
which gave many outlandish explanation for their point of view, most of the websites revealed to me
that contrary to my belief , the Earth was not actually flat, but rather round. Even still, I was not
convinced as I still believed that everything should be sliding if the Earth was round. However, after
researching more about this topic, I learning about how friction is the reason why everything stays in
place, and thus, I finally understood why everyone thought the Earth was round.

Running is what shapes me into the person I am. I have been running since the sixth grade, and it has
been my greatest joy since then. I love running because of all the hard work and pain that goes into
training, and ends in a personal record. Running is my biggest passion because it makes me feel happy
inside, and it puts me in a good mood during tough times.
Early morning practices when the sun is rising in the distance, and late night practices when you can

Six Characteristics Of Religion
1) Define religion in terms of its six characteristics sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and
religious leaders and explain the possible relations among them.
Religion can be defined with six characteristics: Sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and
religious leaders. The first concept of religion is sacred, which is the idea that religion binds
individuals and communities together. Myth is not the conventional definition we think of rather a
much deeper concept. Myth is derived from the Greek word of mythos and is defined as a story that
ties and binds humans into a powerful story about their destiny and origins. These stories, however,
have profound truths behind life and should not be confused with fake stories. ... Show more content

Their role is critical in terms of explaining and in some cases performing these rituals to members of
their community. Historically, rank and file members could not read these sacred texts and therefore
relied on a religious expert/leader to interpret and explain the context of these texts.
2) What are the problems in knowing and understanding the religions that existed before the
development of written language? Oral recitation isn t necessarily the best method to preserve
religious text since errors may arise and alter the original meaning of a certain concept or idea.
Although individuals with these stories and traditions may be able to preserve them through oral
recitation, the generations after them may not be as effective. Furthermore, the interpretation could be
different without having written text as one word could derail the original intent of a story and/or
tradition. Nevertheless, these stories (myths) and traditions could be preserved through song and
dance. Additionally, oral language changes as a result of the inclusion of other more complex
languages. As a result, it becomes incredibly difficult to expand one s religion as other languages are
created. Therefore, the comprehension of religions lacks cultural development without written
language since it was only exclusively known to a small group of people.
3) What is the

The Big Bang
The universe is a magnificent place. There are thought to be more than 100 billion galaxies, each, with
100 billion stars (Hawking 48). There are vast clouds of gas, light years across, each taking on its own
dazzling shape and color. In our solar system alone, there are planets asteroids, comets and moons. For
millennia, humans have attributed the workings and beauty of the cosmos to the divine. Slowly, we
learned that laws governed the motion of these celestial bodies, laws which would come to be known
as the laws of physics. It was not a god that was making the planets orbit the sun, but gravity. Through
observations, mankind learned of new laws, and discarded old ones that no longer matched the
observations. Eventually, a prediction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When infrared radiation becomes redshifted, it appears to be microwaves, which have even longer
wavelengths than infrared radiation. At around the same time Dicke and Peebles were making this
prediction, in 1965, two physicists at the Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey, Arno Penzias
and Robert Wilson, were receiving a lot of microwave interference with their equipment (Hawking
55). They had a very sensitive microwave detector, and were receiving this interference no matter
where they pointed the detector. They eventually concluded that the interference was everywhere, and
from outside the atmosphere, and extremely uniform. It was the same no matter what time of day, or
year. This meant the microwaves they were detecting were originating from outside of the solar
system, and even the galaxy (Hawking 55). It was eventually realized that this microwave background
was the same that Dicke, Peeples, and Gamow had predicted. Penzias and Wilson had found the glow
of the Big Bang. In 1992, COBE (Cosmic Background Explorer satellite) was able to find slight
variations in the microwave background. This meant that the early universe was not completely even,
allowing matter to clump together and structures to form such as galaxies (Hawking 56). The amount
of evidence for the Big Bang was rising, and it was starting to seem like an extremely probable theory.
It was predicted that when the universe first started to expand in the Big Bang, there were small

The Creature In The Lagoon
The Creature in the Lagoon
If only Jacqueline and I had listened to our parents and not ventured into the lagoon, Elaine thought.
Elaine and Jacqueline were growing up in a condominium facing Lake Ontario in downtown Toronto
on Queen s Quay Boulevard. Their parents, Dennis and Roberta, were both lawyers. Elaine was
fourteen and Jacqueline was sixteen. The lagoon in question was located at Hanlon s Point, next to the
Toronto Islands.
Dennis and Roberta had always warned Elaine and Jacqueline to stay away from the lagoon.
The lagoon is not safe, Dennis cautioned. It is private property, owned by the Harbour Commission.
Why? asked Elaine.
Because the lagoon contains an amphibious creature, Roberta answered. It is built like a man, but it
looks like a fish. It stands upright with what looks like legs, but it is scaly and has sharp teeth like a
shark and claws instead of hands.
The parents warnings seemed silly to Elaine and Jacqueline. Both girls thought it would be fun to
explore the lagoon.
One day, Elaine and Jacqueline were watching on television an old movie called The Lagoon
Creature. The so called creature, the mysterious man fish, was half amphibious, half human, and
resembled the creature their mother had told them about. Elaine was squirming with fear, although
Jacqueline was laughing.
Do you actually believe in these creatures? Elaine asked Jacqueline.
No, I don t, Jacqueline answered. The story on TV is made up, just like our parents keep telling us
there is a man built like a fish in the lagoon. Our friends from school walk around the lagoon all the
time. I have never heard stories from them about an amphibious creature. They would laugh at this
story.
The next day, it just so happened that Dennis and Roberta were relaxing around the condominium s
swimming pool. Elaine and Jacqueline decided to go down to Eaton s Centre, but as they left their
condominium building to get the Harbourfront bus to Union Station, they decided to take the bus in
the opposite direction to the lagoon, which was located near the Toronto Islands.
No sooner had the girls reached the lagoon than they saw something enormous splashing in it.
Puzzled, they watched the water bubbles and the swirling water. There

Essay about A Man s Struggle to Heal Himself in Big...
A Man s Struggle to Heal Himself in Big Two Hearted River
Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River * is such a rich text that it has probably received more
literary critical attention than many novels of several times its length. Hemingway s ardent use of
intricate detail and his intentional, calculated use of short, simple sentences help to make River a
treasure chest of critical ideas and possible interpretations. Historically, much of the criticism of River
has examined the dark underlying themes of the story, such as the alleged omission of some
preceding, devastating event and Nick s wounded spiritual and mental state. These sentences, such as

Through this type of reading, we are able to see the great contrast that exists, especially for Nick,
between the river with its fast moving current and the dark swamp, a representation of whatever
wound from which Nick is trying to heal.
Lewis E. Weeks offers another view, similar to Twitchell s, of River. Weeks points out some problems
with Nick s pitching of the tent which, not surprisingly, is described in a manner such as not to leave
the reader in want of details:
With the ax [Nick] slit off a bright slab of pine... and split it into pegs for the tent. He wanted them
long and solid to hold in the ground... . He pegged the sides out taught and drove the pegs deep, hitting
them down into the ground with the flat side of the ax until the rope loops were buried and the canvas
was drum tight. (214)
From this scene, we cannot dispute Nick s intentionally pitching the tent so that it was drum tight.
Weeks explains:
[T]he problem from the point of view of the outdoorsman is the tightness with which the tent is
pegged down. Canvas shrinks from both dew and rain; and usually notched or hooked pegs are driven
into the ground in line with the tension so that they will pull out as the tent shrinks... always the tent is
pitched with some looseness to allow for changes in humidity. (433)
The question now becomes why Hemingway, an avid outdoorsman, would allow such inconsistencies
to surface in River.

The Soviet Leader Vladimir Lenin And The New Millennium Essay
Introduction: One step forwards, two steps back. This was the mantra of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin
as he consolidated power during the 2nd Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in
1903 (Lenin 1941). In the statement, Lenin illustrates the idea that every attempt or step towards
progress only succeeded in creating new challenges, new problems, out from the woodworks. Sixteen
years into the 21st Century, this catchphrase seems to be the running theme, or perhaps joke, of the
new millennium. The internet has connected all of humanity in ways that have never before been seen
throughout the history of mankind, yet it also opened the door for cyber terrorism, illegal surveillance,
and the efficient propagation of dangerous hateful ideologies. Progress in the field of medicine races
forwards at the speed of light, but pharmaceutical companies are greedy. They hold onto their patents
with vice grips and raise prices of essential medications while they cost only pennies to produce.
Progress is like Pandora s box in that it proliferates the spread of evil, greed, and corruption, while the
fragile hope that remains in the jar continues the human race in its attempts to move forward. We tell
ourselves, Maybe we ll get it right this time. This time we ll learn for our predecessors mistakes. Very
rarely do these hopes materialize. Politics, especially politics, have not escaped this one step forwards,
two steps back mantra. Laws have been put into place to protect

Nurture Plays a More Dominant Role in Human s Development...
Humans are unique and intricate creatures and their development is a complex process. It is this
process that leads people to question, is a child s development influenced by genetics or their
environment? This long debate has been at the forefront of psychology for countless decades now and
is better known as Nature versus Nurture . The continuous controversy on whether or not children
develop their psychological attributes based on genetics (nature) or the way in which they have been
raised (nurture) has pondered the minds of psychologists for years. Through thorough experiments,
studies, and discussions however, it is easy to see that nurture is far more important in the
development of a human than nature.
The Nature versus Nurture argument can be traced back many millenniums ago. In 350 B.C.,
philosophers asked the same question on human behaviour. Plato and Aristotle were two philosophers
that each had two diverse views on the matter. Plato believed that knowledge and behaviour were due
to inherent factors, but environmental factors still played a role in the equation. Conversely, Aristotle
had different views. He believed in the idea of Tabula Rasa .
The Blank Slate theory supported the nurture side of the argument and believed that everyone was
born with a Tabula Rasa , Latin for Blank Slate . He proposed that people learn and acquire ideas from
external forces or the environment . In other words, he believed that the mind is a blank slate and it is

One of the most important ideas is that though the increasing demand and materialism, the low wage

our clothing do not have any rules or regulations for their employee s safety nor do they have any
regulations for polluting the environment thus creating many health problems in countries where the
people have no power to do anything about these issues. One more important argument that the film

A staggering 1.7 million Cambodians died in this genocide, many killed in what were known as killing
fields. The countryside is where most of the killings occurred. Victims were taken alone or with
groups around sunset, and were brutally murdered in these killing fields. They were hit with a club to
save bullets, as well as with shovels, hoes, or iron bars. After the genocide, these killing fields were
converted into mass graves where thousands of remains were left. Some of the remains showed that
methods such as being suffocated with plastic bags were used to murder. Ranachith Yimsut, the sole
survivor of the Tonle Sap Lake Massacre by the Khmer Rouge in the small town of Siem Reap

Black Holes Informative Speech
Have you ever heard of something getting sucked up in a black hole? Did it ever cross your mind as to
what a black hole actually was? Well, a black hole is a rather large star that underwent a supernova
explosion and since there was no gravity it collapsed in on itself. It is a big hole of nothingness that
stays in outer space but does not suck up everything. Now lets get into more of the facts about black
holes.
As previously stated, what does one think when they hear the words black hole? A giant hole that is
pitch black and sucks anything and everything up inside of it perhaps? Maybe even a something along
the lines of a vortex or black whirlpool type thing that destroys everything. A black hole is similar to

There are three main types of black holes, stellar, supermassive, and miniature, or primordial ones.
Stellar black holes are enormous stars that have run out of nuclear fuel, which then creates an
unsteady situation. The outer layers then proceed to explode in a supernova leaving the middle to
implode essentially creating a black hole if the star was large enough. Said to be the collapse of a
compact cluster of stars, supermassive black holes are revealed to astronomers by rapid moving gas
jets that point towards the massive holes typically in the center of galaxies. The Space Telescope
Science Institution (STSCI) even says that there might be one in the center of our own galaxy, the
Milky Way. They also say that the constellation Sagittarius, in the summer, is the direction of the
center of our galaxy if one was to look at it. When substances cross the event horizon of the black hole
it increases the mass of it, which expands the horizon, this means it is larger and can grab things
farther away. Lastly, is the mini black holes that the STSCI and along with various theories believe
might have been formed in the early universe, the Big Bang, which is the moment the universe was
believed to be created. The event horizons of these black holes are quite small, the width of an atomic
particle. They can only hold up to the amount of matter of Mt. Everest. The formation of these little
black holes are from the compression of matter caused by the

Community Development Reflection
I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I pushed
through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community development. Many people can
benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The
information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of
my learning experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to me.
The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained and
understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already attending the
class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of
topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It does help that
I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There s always room for more
growth while learning more on the topic of health in community development. Things are always
changing, growing, and expanding, including the development of new Technology. I have just started
the beginning of what all it entails. I think it would be helpful to have learned more on the solution to
some of the problems presented. A lot of the topics were interesting to read about, but on some I felt

The Case of Change at Concord Book Shop
The Case of Change at Concord Book Shop Change in the business environment can be complex;
there are many influences which can impact on whether or not any change implemented will be
successful. When successful the process of change will usually incorporate consider both commercial
pressures and human influences. The case of the Concord Book Shop is an example of change which
was implemented without consideration of the human elements. This can be appreciated by looking at
the stages of change and considering some of the stages which were omitted at Concord. There are
numerous models of change; most change models advocate a logical approach with different stages.
Although the models may differ, they have communalities which include the need to prepare for the
change before its implementation and then entrenching the change (Cameron and Green, 2012). One
of the most recognized is the 8 stage model by Kotter (2012). The first step is creating a sense of
urgency, the second step is forming a powerful coalition, the third is creating a vision, followed by
communication of that vision. The fifth step is the removal of obstacles; the sixth step is creating short
term wins, seventh is building on change and lastly is anchoring changes in the corporate culture
(Kotter, 2012). The steps may be undertaken in a concurrently as well as consecutive manner, The
changes that were implemented by the family at Concord failed to fully prepare the existing staff for

The Un And The Eu Using Rationalist Approach Essay
Summary:
Realists argue IOs are only forums in which states pursue their interests. I believe that this is wrong to
begin with, as IOs are more than forums to realise states self interest. They are also largely important
for other means, essentially, in maintaining world peace and order. This paper will mainly explore on
two most controversial IOs that are the UN and the EU using Rationalist approach. To support the
argument, this research will use two relatable in depth cases that are the 2011 Military Intervention in
Libya and the European Union (EU) on the Syrian refugee crisis to demonstrate if IOs are only forums
for states to pursue their interest or not. The research is important to inform the readers that IOs are
not simply a medium for states personal gain, but also to cover the betterment of the world.
Thesis Statement:
I believe that IOs are not only forums for states to pursue their interests as argued by the realists, but
also significantly important in maintaining world peace and order as to prevent further imbalance of
power among them, and this will be proven using Rationalist approach on the 2011 Military
Intervention on Libya and the EU on the Syrian Refugee crisis.
Research Question/s:
Q1: Given that states only use IOs as forums to pursue their interests as conceptualised by Realists,
why do states often found look up to IOs to work for the betterment of the world as well? Does it have
anything to do with personal agenda/s and what does Rationalist

North Montana Will Apply The Choice Of Law Essay
The main question in this exercise is whether North Montana will apply the choice of law provision in
the contract between Good Hands and the Walmsleys. A forum applies its own choice of law
approach. So here the North Montana Court will apply the Second Restatement of Conflicts of Laws
as the state follows that approach. Under the Second Restatement, three main steps need to be
considered: 1) whether the conflict is procedural or substantive, 2) whether there is a choice of law
provision in the contract, and whether that provision should be applied, and 3) the application of the
choice of law rules from the Second Restatement. Here, it appears that the choice of law provision
selecting Old York should be applied because none of the exceptions to the general rule apply.
I. Procedural vs. Substantive Law
The first step under the Second Restatement approach is to determine whether the forum s rule is
procedural or substantive. If a rule is procedural than a forum will apply its own law. Courts using the
Second Restatement follows the applicable provisions in the restatement. This is similar to the first
restatement besides evidentiary privileges and statute of limitations. One of the main tests is whether a
section of the Second Restatement classifies a question as substantive. Section 193 of the Second
Restatement, which is found in the Contracts rather than the Procedure chapter, governs the validity of
insurance contracts. Here, the question is about the validity

the same thing over and over again. It s the same thing every day. Go to school, get good grades, go to
the studio, do homework until midnight, get 6 or 7 hours of sleep, then wake up and do everything
over again. The next couple of lines say And you can t find the fighter, but I see it in you so we re

year I ve been under a lot of stress pertaining to grades, SATs, scholarships, and applications.
Sometimes I don t know how I m going to fit everything in. There s just not enough time in a day. I
realized that over time, once I get everything done, I will be going to college and then maybe change

Benefits Of Low Disclosure Of The Hedge Fund Industry
There is a certain air of secrecy surrounding the hedge fund industry that makes investing in these
vehicles a scary endeavor for some. As hedge funds are not regulated to the same extent as mutual
funds, many firms choose to limit the disclosure of their operations and holdings. Because of this lack
of transparency combined with media criticism, many myths and fallacies regarding the industry have
surfaced. Although this lack of transparency may leave investors less informed and more susceptible
to risk when investing in a hedge fund, it also allows for higher returns that cannot be achieved by
more traditional investment vehicles. The benefits of low disclosure may outweigh the costs for
certain investors, but the level of transparency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a diversified portfolio, in which risk is managed well, any losses that are incurred by certain assets
will be offset in part by the gains of other assets. When risk is managed appropriately, hedge funds can
be a robust addition to a portfolio. Hedge fund managers insist on confidentiality in order to allow for
such high returns that their funds deliver, however, some investors are skeptical that they seek
confidentiality of their holdings in order to hide past losers of their portfolio. Through a close
examination of confidential 13F filings, the returns and liquidity of confidential holdings can expose
the justification for withholding proprietary information from the public. The evidence found that
confidential holdings actually outperformed holdings that were disclosed to the public, and that many
of these confidential holdings are illiquid assets that have performed well in the past. This evidence
suggests that managers sought confidentiality in order to generate superior returns, rather than hide
poorly performing positions (Aragon, Hertzel, and Zhen). This protection of proprietary information
prevents competition from freeriding off of the fund s investment strategies as well as protects illiquid
positions from front runners attempting to trade against the fund. While low

Another change that occurred during enlightenment was the education of women. During the time of

With logos and ethos effectively created, Churchill broadens his speech to fit a bigger audience: the
entirety of Great Britain. In a total war, the home front must be entirely united to continue to fight and
fund a war effort, and Churchill appeals to unity and patriotism. He asks the people of Britain to give
what Churchill himself will be offering blood, toil, tears, and sweat (32). If the Prime Minister can
give his everything to fight in the war, it encourages the audience to want to participate as well.
Churchill continues to appeal to unity through his use of words like we and our to unite the country
with the government as they fight for one cause. By creating a team , they can effectively rally the
audience into action. The public opinion may believe that the Germans are unstoppable, but Winston s
emotionally charged words that with total effort and war from all fronts with the support of God, the

victory at all costs; victory in spirt of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for
without victory, there is no survival (38 40). By bringing the risk of destruction of the country should
they fail, it further persuades the audience to want to give their all so they can win the war. After riling
up the crowd with the emotionally charged pathos arguments, Churchill closes with a final remark:
Come then, let us go

There are a number of art and architectural features found in the Athenian Agora, Kerimeikos and the

which the word ceramic is derived, and was also the site of an important cemetery and numerous
funerary sculptures erected around the area. The Acropolis had many major buildings, the most
prominent of them being the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike. An evaluation of primary and

The Fundamental Concept Of Additive Manufacturing Essay
3. What is 3D printing?
3 D printing also known as additive manufacturing or stereolithography or rapid prototyping has been
predominantly explored for the past few years. 3D printing technology is called additive
manufacturing because the material is built from scratch, without any loss in existing volume of an
object by chipping, drilling or cutting. (Tony Hoffman, 2016). The fundamental concept of additive
manufacturing is printing an object by successive deposition of layers of various materials. Before an
object can be 3D printed, it first has to be sliced into thousands of horizontal and vertical planes in
Computer Aided Design (CAD). There are similar software like CAD which are used for the purpose
of Slicing . Some of these software are CAM Computer Aided Manufacturing and 3D Scanner. These
horizontal and vertical planes together make up the 3D model of the object. Once a virtual design of
the object is prepared, also called as the feed , a file in the .stl format is provided to the printer which
then prints the desired object. Though the basic outcome of 3D printing is same, different technologies

The Brief And Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao Analysis
Objectification: the action of degrading someone to the status of a mere object. The Brief and
Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is a novel on the adolescent years of a Dominican boy named Oscar De
Leon [who later is referred to as Oscar Wao]. Adolescence are the years of massive change, physically
and emotionally, which leads to new feelings of excitement. In Dominican culture, men have
supremacy over women and the only way a woman can establish their authority and value is through
their sexuality. In terms of hegemonic sexuality, the dominant group propagates the idea that males
and females should have specific body types with proportioned sex characteristics, (Wilson 1)
Throughout the entire novel, women are always having sex or are described

Extracting Natural Gas From Shale Formations
Natural gas produced from shale formations has become important in the energy supply market for the
United States. Extracting natural gas from shale reserves was not considered feasible until recently
because of low permeability of the shale rock formations. New developments in hydraulic fracturing
technology have led to a boom in domestic shale gas production. The United States has experienced
economic benefits through revenue and job creation in predominantly rural areas while increasing the
energy security of the U.S. by decreasing dependence on foreign oil supplies. However, the
resounding question remains: at what cost?
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a process used to extract natural gas from deep shale reserves
5,000 8,000 feet below the ground surface. This process allows energy companies to access previously
unavailable energy sources in states that have deep oil and gas reserves. The fracking process involves
pumping a mixture of water, chemicals and sand at high pressure into a well, which fractures the
surrounding rock formation and props open passages that allow natural gas to freely flow from rock
fractures to the production well. Once the well is developed, the carrying fluid can then flow back to
the ground surface along with the gas.
Shale gas has become embroiled in controversy over alleged impacts on public health and the
environment. Some segments of the public have become deeply suspicious of the veracity and motives
of gas companies. These

Definition Of Attempt Crime
The assassin lies in wait, the rifle is now in position. The victim is in sight, only a few yards separate
them. The assassin pulls the trigger. The victim carries on, unaware that a defective riffle has saved
him from death. An attempt to commit a serious crime but should the assassin be punished as severely
as the corresponding completed crime? Most legal theorist would answer: Yes.
The definition for attempt crimes would depend on the state however generally attempt crimes occur
when an individual has actual/specific intent to commit a crime (Reuters, T 2012). According to the
Criminal Attempts Act, 1981 a person can be found guilty of an attempt if with intent to commit and
an offence, a person does an act which is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the
offence, he is guilty of attempting to commit the offence. Attempt crimes are usually incomplete,
therefore it is up to the jury to establish the intent of an individual if they want to secure a conviction.

There are certain offences where recklessness mens rea for the full offences. Furthermore in order for
the prosecution to prove the defendant committed the offence, they must prove he/she had intent to
commit the offence. For example if an individual has committed the offence of criminal damage to a
property either intentionally or recklessly, it would only be correct to charge the individual with
attempting to cause criminal damage with the intention to damage property and not attempting to
cause criminal damage by being reckless. On the other hand recklessness may sometimes be sufficient
for the full offence for attempt. For example in R v Khan (1990) 2 All ER 783, on a charge of
attempted rape contrary to section 1(4) Criminal Law (Rape) Act 1990, it was sufficient enough for
the prosecution to prove the intent to have intercourse whether or not the women consenting was help

Fulvalene Synthesis
What fulvalenes are and how can we synthesis fulvalenes containing chalcogen on their molecule
type. Compounds like benzophenon, thiobenzophenone and selenobenzophenone are some fulvalenes
that contain Oxygen, Sulfur and Selenium. The preparation of those compounds is different for each
one, however, benzophenone can be the counteract to synthesise the others. A fulvalene is a
hydrocarbon obtained by formally cross conjugating two rings through a common exocyclic double
bond. The name is derived from the similarly structured fulvenes which lack one ring. The fulvalene
molecule is interesting as an example of a conjugated hydrocarbon for which only dipolar resonance
structures can be written, apart from the basic neutral structure, and it has ... Show more content on

Acetonitrile was the solvent of choice, as it showed optimal performance in the selective epoxidation
of functionalized alkenes with TBHP. In such solvent, the primary product of the reaction observed at
short reaction times was the corresponding trans stilbene epoxide (3), as expected. This product is due
to epoxidation of the C C double bond catalyzed by titanium(IV) centers in the presence of alkyl
hydroperoxides and such behavior is fully consistent with several previous observations. In addition,
thanks the use of anhydrous TBHP, the reaction proceeded mainly following a heterolytic oxidation
pathway and hence with a good selectivity to the desired epoxide. However, at longer reaction times
(72 h), the reaction proceeded further and the major observed product was surprisingly benzophenone
(5). Even if thiobenzophenone is quite stable, although it photoxidizes in air to form benzophenone
and sulfur. Thiobenzophenone is deep blue and dissolves readily in many organic solvents. One of the
first reported syntheses of thiobenzophenone involves the reaction of sodium hydrosulfide(2equal) and
benzophenone dichloride. However, in the reaction scheme of the second method, a mixture of gaseous
hydrogen chloride and hydrogen sulfide are passed into a cooled solution of benzophenone in ethanol.
Thiobenzophenone can also

Life Is Adversity
Life is Adversity Everyone faces adversity in some point of their life.Adversity will always make us
stronger. Some ways people overcome adversity are by, Identifying the problem, Facing it and
considering all options. One way people overcome adversity is by identifying the problem. An
example of this is from the (article video) of Captain Sullenberger landing the plane in the Hudson
River. The text states that Cpt. Sullenberger said that he had a couple minutes to think after the geese
had hit the plane s engine he had to think what he was going to do and he thought where he was going
to land in about 1 minutes and 30 seconds. This clearly supports the point because Cpt. Sullenberger
looks at his surroundings and revised all of his surroundings before landing the plane or turning the
plane around and risking all of those people s lives. An example of how people overcome adversity is
by facing it because Cpt. Sullenberger had to face that he had to land in the Hudson River to get all of
the passengers on that flight.Evidence of this is that in the story in this piece Cpt. Sullenberger
overcomes adversity by helping everyone that was in the plane get out safe and sound. This shows how
they overcome adversity because Cpt Sullenberger had to make an ruff and quick decision on where to
land. One Illustration that demonstrates how people face adversity is by considering all options. This
proves how people face adversity because Cpt. Sullenberger had to consider all his

CaƱo Limones
As stated before, the CaƱo Limones oil field, the Cusiana oil field, and the Cupiagua oil field are three
of the biggest oil fields in all of the Colombian territory, and are currently operated by Ecopetrol.
Amongst these three oil fields a big portion of the Colombian oil production is distributed, and they
are also some of the oldest oil fields.
The CaƱo Limones oil field was discovered in July 1983 by an association called the Cravo Norte
association which was conformed by Ecopetrol, in that time called the Empresa Colombiana de
PetrĆ³leos, with Occidental de Colombia, another oil company in Colombia. The oil field is located in
the northern part of the Llanos basin, in the region the OriniquĆa, and the state of Arauca.
Moreover, the CaƱo Limon oil field is composed of two large fault blocks, the CaƱo ... Show more

After the discovery of the Cusiana oil field, BP attempted to drill again in the Unete 1 well, which was
the well previously drilled by Ecopetrol, and found the Cupiagua oil field (De Ath, 1997).
Companies who had previously attempted to find the Cusiana and the Cupiagua oil fields had fail,
since they were not digging depth enough. Both the Cusiana and the Cupiagua are located at more
than 14000 feet below the surface, which is almost twice the depth of the CaƱo Limones oil field,
causing a lot of mechanical issues and failures.
Further, BP estimated that the Cusiana and Cupiagua oil fields had oil reserves for a total of 2 billion
barrels of oil, with the Cusiana oil field accounting for 1.5 billion barrels of oil and the Cupiagua oil
field the other 500 million barrels of oil (Knott, 1993). It is important to note that recently the oil
reserves in the Cusiana oil field had been estimated to be much lower. The field is estimated to have
750 million barrels, but is still one of the major fields in all of

Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Chesapeake Colonies
Chesapeake is similar to Jamestown, in a few ways both of them had many changes in political
systems, grew tobacco as a cash crop, used slaves, and were Christian. They were also different, of
course, as the political systems they each went through were not the same, Jamestown traded with
natives when they were not squabbling, while the Chesapeake only did initially, their denominations
of Christianity were different, and their physical settlements were slightly different as well.
Both colonies changed political systems and powers throughout their lifetimes sometimes the change
was necessary, other times it was for the benefit of those in power, others due to the protest of the
colonists. Of course, both of these colonies went through different systems as they changed, being in
different situations. Jamestown first was founded with the Virginia Company supporting it, and having
multiple colony leaders in charge of the other colonists. The Virginia Stock Company was a good idea
in theory many investors would pool their money into the colonies in hope for profit however, it
eventually failed because it did not make enough profit to sustain itself. Before this failure, a few new
systems were put into place. The colony needed more settlers, so the company gave anyone who paid
for their trip to the colony a grant of land, and anyone having someone paying their fare would work
for them for about four to seven years, the person paying also gets land for ... Show more content on

SUCCESSFUL STRATEGIC ALLIANCE AND CONTRIBUTING FACTORS
JET ETIHAD STRATEGIC ALLIANCE
SAYANTAN MITRA (231137)
It is very disappointing that the recently published ICRA downgrade is based on a historic delay in
debt servicing, which occurred and was resolved in the previous financial year. Our recently published
first quarter results show a positive trend in performance and that the airline s three year business plan
is on track, said the Jet Airways rejoinder in the first week of September when ICRA downgraded the
company s rating to D Grade (junk status) due to delays in debt servicing.
ICRA s action could make it tougher and costlier for the airline to refinance its formidable debt of

  • 2. Learning Worthy Curriculum And Its Impact On Middle Level... Through the completion of this project, I was given the opportunity to increase my knowledge in a number of ways. It allowed me to expand my ability to use reflective skills as I made connections between my personal philosophy of the education of young adolescents with the coursework, field experiences, and literature. I found this project quite difficult because the This We Believe characteristics were all great for a successful school for young adolescents. To make my selection of my top five characteristics, I had to use the order of elimination by evaluating and synthesizing each statements. The first characteristic that I chose was Curriculum is challenging, exploratory, integrative, and relevant. To offer students the best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The curriculum is considered rich when the materials, core, and class are challenging and exploratory. The inclusion of substantive issues and skills, prior knowledge challenges, and the ability to enable students to take responsibility for their learning are all ways to make curriculum rich or challenging. (Powell, Sara D.; pg. 145) Along with challenging, exploratory curriculum allows students to make discoveries and choices. As discussed in class, giving students a choice will open the door to successful and self motivational learning. The word, REAL, would be compared to the statement s word integrative . The textbook and class discussions helped me to understand the importance of connecting curriculum to students lives and the real world. I learned that a student will be more eager to participate, learn, and care about curriculum that has purpose outside of the learning environment. By simply including real world scenarios in word problems, the students will feel the connections and grasp the content easier and faster. The phrases making sense of content and experiences is used in the textbook to show the importance of integrative curriculum. Lastly, the curriculum must show relevance. In class discussion, my classmates and I all agreed that we all despise coursework that has no purpose. Busy work is the term used in class to describe irrelevant curriculum. Relevant curriculum allows students to expand their knowledge by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On The Open Carry Law Ever since the president Donald J. Trump was elected, the country has been divided greatly due to racism just how it occurred in the 1950 s. In 1955, Rosa Parks, a black woman, was arrested because she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. This event caused a great uproar amongst the Whites and the Blacks that lead into many civil right movements in which the Black people participated by protesting. For example, the incident that occurred on August 12 of this year with the an anti white supremacist group who was protesting in the same city as the white supremacist protesters. A random person drove their car into the crowd of the anti white supremacist protesters and ended up killing one woman and left dozen more seriously injured. To this incident, President Trump gave a press conference about the horrific act of the murder while stating that there were good and bad people on either side, justifying the act of the murder of running over the anti white supremacists. Sadly, while Trump remains in office, the country will not become less violent and people from different races will end up shooting each with or without the open carry law. California has become more violent over time, especially with President Trump in office. No one is safe in public and if the decision to open carry is reinstated, the law would be a much safer choice for anyone who wants to protect themselves and their loved ones. Bullfrogs as most of the other frogs and toads, are faced with an unusual locomotory challenge. They have to swim and jump using primary the hind limbs. The foot possess five rays and hand posses fore rays. Hind limbs and fore limbs posses a web like structure to help frog locomotion also in water (Nauwalaerts, Sandra et al, 2007). Respiratory system Bullfrogs as many other amphibians use three respiratory surfaces for gas exchange: skin, mouth, and lungs. In bullfrogs lungs are present in adults (Hickman, 2006). On land Bullfrogs breath with their mouths closed. Bullfrogs present a positive lung pressure for breathing (Heckman, 2007). Their throat movements pull air through the nostrils to the lungs. Then breathe out with body contractions. Bullfrogs can also respire under the water through the skin using a process called cutaneous gas exchange. They use their skin for oxygen/carbon dioxide exchange (Stinner N, Jerry, and Shoemaker, H. Vaughan, 1987) Digestive system Bullfrogs are voracious eaters, and will eat just about any animal they can swallow. These include: insects, crayfish, worms, minnows, other frogs (even Bullfrogs), small turtles, snakes, baby birds, and small mammals. They are most active at night. The frog digestive system, like most other digestive systems, starts in the mouth. Prey, which is sometimes caught by the frog s sticky tongue, is diced by tooth like structures in the mouth. • 5. Essay On Hand-Engineered Feature Extraction Techniques 2.1 Introduction In last few years, remote sensing image scene classification has got a remarkable attention due to its importance. Researchers are trying hard to classify remote sensing images correctly. For this reason, we have studied different topics related to this research. Rest of this chapter will describe some important Hand Engineered feature extraction methods along with deep learning technique. In section 2.2, we will discuss some hand engineered feature extraction methods, in section 2.3, we will discuss some deep learning models and finally, in section 2.4 we will draw a conclusion. 2.2 Hand Engineered Feature Extraction Method Feature plays a very important role in the area of image processing. Different feature extraction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... LBP [1] is very simple to understand and easy to implement. To compute LBP at first we need to divide the image into cells like 16X16. Then take a pixel into the grid and consider the neighboring pixels around the pixel. If the center pixel value is greater than or equal to its neighbor, then consider 1 for the neighboring pixel otherwise consider 0. Then take the binary numbers in a sequence (clockwise or anti clockwise). Assume the number is a binary number and compute the decimal number. Then set the value to the middle pixel. Compute histogram for each 16x16 cells and finally concatenate the histograms. The histogram gives the feature vector for entire window. Example of LBP feature extraction is given in the Figure 2.1 Figure 2.1: Finding decimal value for central pixel using LBP LBP has some limitations that reduces its application fields. LBP is not rotation invariant and the size of the features increases exponentially with the number of neighbors which leads to an increase of computational complexity in terms of time and space. 2.2.1 Noise Adaptive Binary Pattern (NABP) Noise adaptive binary pattern [12] is a modification of local binary pattern. Many of the biggest startups of our time were started by a group of people rather than a single one. Jobs had Wozniak, Gates had Allen, and Page had Brin to help them out. Soon after, I went on the internet and searched up if the Earth is flat and the overwhelming answer surprised me. Other than a few websites such as The Flat Earth Society wiki which gave many outlandish explanation for their point of view, most of the websites revealed to me that contrary to my belief , the Earth was not actually flat, but rather round. Even still, I was not convinced as I still believed that everything should be sliding if the Earth was round. However, after researching more about this topic, I learning about how friction is the reason why everything stays in place, and thus, I finally understood why everyone thought the Earth was round. I love running because of all the hard work and pain that goes into training, and ends in a personal record. Running is my biggest passion because it makes me feel happy inside, and it puts me in a good mood during tough times. Early morning practices when the sun is rising in the distance, and late night practices when you can barley see anything are the moments that complete my day. • 9. Six Characteristics Of Religion 1) Define religion in terms of its six characteristics sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and religious leaders and explain the possible relations among them. Religion can be defined with six characteristics: Sacred, myth, ritual, community, morality, and religious leaders. The first concept of religion is sacred, which is the idea that religion binds individuals and communities together. Myth is not the conventional definition we think of rather a much deeper concept. Myth is derived from the Greek word of mythos and is defined as a story that ties and binds humans into a powerful story about their destiny and origins. These stories, however, have profound truths behind life and should not be confused with fake stories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their role is critical in terms of explaining and in some cases performing these rituals to members of their community. Historically, rank and file members could not read these sacred texts and therefore relied on a religious expert/leader to interpret and explain the context of these texts. 2) What are the problems in knowing and understanding the religions that existed before the development of written language? Oral recitation isn t necessarily the best method to preserve religious text since errors may arise and alter the original meaning of a certain concept or idea. Although individuals with these stories and traditions may be able to preserve them through oral recitation, the generations after them may not be as effective. Furthermore, the interpretation could be different without having written text as one word could derail the original intent of a story and/or tradition. Nevertheless, these stories (myths) and traditions could be preserved through song and dance. Additionally, oral language changes as a result of the inclusion of other more complex languages. As a result, it becomes incredibly difficult to expand one s religion as other languages are created. Therefore, the comprehension of religions lacks cultural development without written language since it was only exclusively known to a small group of people. 3) What is the ... • 10. The Big Bang The universe is a magnificent place. There are thought to be more than 100 billion galaxies, each, with 100 billion stars (Hawking 48). There are vast clouds of gas, light years across, each taking on its own dazzling shape and color. In our solar system alone, there are planets asteroids, comets and moons. For millennia, humans have attributed the workings and beauty of the cosmos to the divine. Slowly, we learned that laws governed the motion of these celestial bodies, laws which would come to be known as the laws of physics. It was not a god that was making the planets orbit the sun, but gravity. Through observations, mankind learned of new laws, and discarded old ones that no longer matched the observations. Eventually, a prediction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When infrared radiation becomes redshifted, it appears to be microwaves, which have even longer wavelengths than infrared radiation. At around the same time Dicke and Peebles were making this prediction, in 1965, two physicists at the Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, were receiving a lot of microwave interference with their equipment (Hawking 55). They had a very sensitive microwave detector, and were receiving this interference no matter where they pointed the detector. They eventually concluded that the interference was everywhere, and from outside the atmosphere, and extremely uniform. It was the same no matter what time of day, or year. This meant the microwaves they were detecting were originating from outside of the solar system, and even the galaxy (Hawking 55). It was eventually realized that this microwave background was the same that Dicke, Peeples, and Gamow had predicted. Penzias and Wilson had found the glow of the Big Bang. In 1992, COBE (Cosmic Background Explorer satellite) was able to find slight variations in the microwave background. This meant that the early universe was not completely even, allowing matter to clump together and structures to form such as galaxies (Hawking 56). The amount of evidence for the Big Bang was rising, and it was starting to seem like an extremely probable theory. It was predicted that when the universe first started to expand in the Big Bang, there were small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Creature In The Lagoon The Creature in the Lagoon If only Jacqueline and I had listened to our parents and not ventured into the lagoon, Elaine thought. Elaine and Jacqueline were growing up in a condominium facing Lake Ontario in downtown Toronto on Queen s Quay Boulevard. Their parents, Dennis and Roberta, were both lawyers. Elaine was fourteen and Jacqueline was sixteen. The lagoon in question was located at Hanlon s Point, next to the Toronto Islands. It is built like a man, but it looks like a fish. It stands upright with what looks like legs, but it is scaly and has sharp teeth like a shark and claws instead of hands. The parents warnings seemed silly to Elaine and Jacqueline. Both girls thought it would be fun to explore the lagoon. One day, Elaine and Jacqueline were watching on television an old movie called The Lagoon Creature. The so called creature, the mysterious man fish, was half amphibious, half human, and resembled the creature their mother had told them about. Elaine was squirming with fear, although Jacqueline was laughing. Do you actually believe in these creatures? Elaine asked Jacqueline. No, I don t, Jacqueline answered. The story on TV is made up, just like our parents keep telling us there is a man built like a fish in the lagoon. Our friends from school walk around the lagoon all the time. I have never heard stories from them about an amphibious creature. They would laugh at this story. The next day, it just so happened that Dennis and Roberta were relaxing around the condominium s swimming pool. Elaine and Jacqueline decided to go down to Eaton s Centre, but as they left their condominium building to get the Harbourfront bus to Union Station, they decided to take the bus in the opposite direction to the lagoon, which was located near the Toronto Islands. No sooner had the girls reached the lagoon than they saw something enormous splashing in it. Puzzled, they watched the water bubbles and the swirling water. There ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Man s Struggle to Heal Himself in Big Two Hearted River Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River * is such a rich text that it has probably received more literary critical attention than many novels of several times its length. Hemingway s ardent use of intricate detail and his intentional, calculated use of short, simple sentences help to make River a treasure chest of critical ideas and possible interpretations. Historically, much of the criticism of River has examined the dark underlying themes of the story, such as the alleged omission of some preceding, devastating event and Nick s wounded spiritual and mental state. These sentences, such as There was no town, nothing but the rails and the burned over country, are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through this type of reading, we are able to see the great contrast that exists, especially for Nick, between the river with its fast moving current and the dark swamp, a representation of whatever wound from which Nick is trying to heal. Lewis E. Weeks offers another view, similar to Twitchell s, of River. Weeks points out some problems with Nick s pitching of the tent which, not surprisingly, is described in a manner such as not to leave the reader in want of details: With the ax [Nick] slit off a bright slab of pine... and split it into pegs for the tent. He wanted them long and solid to hold in the ground... . He pegged the sides out taught and drove the pegs deep, hitting them down into the ground with the flat side of the ax until the rope loops were buried and the canvas was drum tight. (214) From this scene, we cannot dispute Nick s intentionally pitching the tent so that it was drum tight. Weeks explains: [T]he problem from the point of view of the outdoorsman is the tightness with which the tent is pegged down. Canvas shrinks from both dew and rain; and usually notched or hooked pegs are driven into the ground in line with the tension so that they will pull out as the tent shrinks... always the tent is pitched with some looseness to allow for changes in humidity. (433) The question now becomes why Hemingway, an avid outdoorsman, would allow such inconsistencies to surface in River. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was the mantra of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin as he consolidated power during the 2nd Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in 1903 (Lenin 1941). In the statement, Lenin illustrates the idea that every attempt or step towards progress only succeeded in creating new challenges, new problems, out from the woodworks. Sixteen years into the 21st Century, this catchphrase seems to be the running theme, or perhaps joke, of the new millennium. The internet has connected all of humanity in ways that have never before been seen throughout the history of mankind, yet it also opened the door for cyber terrorism, illegal surveillance, and the efficient propagation of dangerous hateful ideologies. Progress in the field of medicine races forwards at the speed of light, but pharmaceutical companies are greedy. They hold onto their patents with vice grips and raise prices of essential medications while they cost only pennies to produce. • 18. Nurture Plays a More Dominant Role in Human s Development... Humans are unique and intricate creatures and their development is a complex process. It is this process that leads people to question, is a child s development influenced by genetics or their environment? This long debate has been at the forefront of psychology for countless decades now and is better known as Nature versus Nurture . The continuous controversy on whether or not children develop their psychological attributes based on genetics (nature) or the way in which they have been raised (nurture) has pondered the minds of psychologists for years. Through thorough experiments, studies, and discussions however, it is easy to see that nurture is far more important in the development of a human than nature. The Nature versus Nurture argument can be traced back many millenniums ago. In 350 B.C., philosophers asked the same question on human behaviour. Plato and Aristotle were two philosophers that each had two diverse views on the matter. Plato believed that knowledge and behaviour were due to inherent factors, but environmental factors still played a role in the equation. Conversely, Aristotle had different views. He believed in the idea of Tabula Rasa . The Blank Slate theory supported the nurture side of the argument and believed that everyone was born with a Tabula Rasa , Latin for Blank Slate . Stellar black holes are enormous stars that have run out of nuclear fuel, which then creates an unsteady situation. The outer layers then proceed to explode in a supernova leaving the middle to implode essentially creating a black hole if the star was large enough. Said to be the collapse of a compact cluster of stars, supermassive black holes are revealed to astronomers by rapid moving gas jets that point towards the massive holes typically in the center of galaxies. North Montana Will Apply The Choice Of Law Essay The main question in this exercise is whether North Montana will apply the choice of law provision in the contract between Good Hands and the Walmsleys. A forum applies its own choice of law approach. So here the North Montana Court will apply the Second Restatement of Conflicts of Laws as the state follows that approach. Under the Second Restatement, three main steps need to be considered: 1) whether the conflict is procedural or substantive, 2) whether there is a choice of law provision in the contract, and whether that provision should be applied, and 3) the application of the choice of law rules from the Second Restatement. Here, it appears that the choice of law provision selecting Old York should be applied because none of the exceptions to the general rule apply. I. Procedural vs. Substantive Law The first step under the Second Restatement approach is to determine whether the forum s rule is procedural or substantive. If a rule is procedural than a forum will apply its own law. Courts using the Second Restatement follows the applicable provisions in the restatement. This is similar to the first restatement besides evidentiary privileges and statute of limitations. One of the main tests is whether a section of the Second Restatement classifies a question as substantive. On the brink of war, with the enemy force appearing impenetrable and unstoppable, new Prime Minister Winston Churchill has the daunting task to rally parliament to enter the war. While speaking to the House of Commons, the representing body in the United Kingdom, he must not only create a lasting impression, but illustrate the logistics of the meeting as well as the dire importance of victory for the Allies. He opens with the immediate facts to answer any of the parliament s doubts or concerns, then he focuses his attention to unity and expands his audience to the entire country of the United Kingdom to express the sentiment of unity and the importance of the call to arms. ... In a total war, the home front must be entirely united to continue to fight and fund a war effort, and Churchill appeals to unity and patriotism. He asks the people of Britain to give what Churchill himself will be offering blood, toil, tears, and sweat (32). If the Prime Minister can give his everything to fight in the war, it encourages the audience to want to participate as well. Churchill continues to appeal to unity through his use of words like we and our to unite the country with the government as they fight for one cause. By creating a team , they can effectively rally the audience into action. The public opinion may believe that the Germans are unstoppable, but Winston s emotionally charged words that with total effort and war from all fronts with the support of God, the feat can be achieved (35). Because of the war, the Prime Minister conveys the necessity for victory; victory at all costs; victory in spirt of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival (38 40). By bringing the risk of destruction of the country should they fail, it further persuades the audience to want to give their all so they can win the war. Anne Bradstreet did just so in the 17th century by having her poems published, in a time where her authorship was questioned solely because of her sex (Lauter 395). Her voice roars throughout her poetry as the penned words evoke her godly conviction and love for her family. Primarily, her religious faith is strongly present in her pieces. I appreciate Bradstreet s reliance on God in her poem, Upon the Burning of Our House ; she takes comfort in the fact that God will provide, calling all her destroyed belongings mere vanity (409). • 40. The Fundamental Concept Of Additive Manufacturing Essay 3. What is 3D printing? 3 D printing also known as additive manufacturing or stereolithography or rapid prototyping has been predominantly explored for the past few years. 3D printing technology is called additive manufacturing because the material is built from scratch, without any loss in existing volume of an object by chipping, drilling or cutting. (Tony Hoffman, 2016). The fundamental concept of additive manufacturing is printing an object by successive deposition of layers of various materials. Before an object can be 3D printed, it first has to be sliced into thousands of horizontal and vertical planes in Computer Aided Design (CAD). There are similar software like CAD which are used for the purpose of Slicing . Some of these software are CAM Computer Aided Manufacturing and 3D Scanner. These horizontal and vertical planes together make up the 3D model of the object. Once a virtual design of the object is prepared, also called as the feed , a file in the .stl format is provided to the printer which then prints the desired object. Though the basic outcome of 3D printing is same, different technologies have been developed as per its need in the industry. Based on personal requirements, an object can be customized on small as well as large scale. As 3D printing continues to grow and evolve, a number of companies are establishing their mark in this area. 3D printing not only involves the printing of an object, but it is a step by step process ultimately ... • 44. Extracting Natural Gas From Shale Formations Natural gas produced from shale formations has become important in the energy supply market for the United States. Extracting natural gas from shale reserves was not considered feasible until recently because of low permeability of the shale rock formations. New developments in hydraulic fracturing technology have led to a boom in domestic shale gas production. The United States has experienced economic benefits through revenue and job creation in predominantly rural areas while increasing the energy security of the U.S. by decreasing dependence on foreign oil supplies. However, the resounding question remains: at what cost? Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a process used to extract natural gas from deep shale reserves 5,000 8,000 feet below the ground surface. This process allows energy companies to access previously unavailable energy sources in states that have deep oil and gas reserves. The fracking process involves pumping a mixture of water, chemicals and sand at high pressure into a well, which fractures the surrounding rock formation and props open passages that allow natural gas to freely flow from rock fractures to the production well. Once the well is developed, the carrying fluid can then flow back to the ground surface along with the gas. Shale gas has become embroiled in controversy over alleged impacts on public health and the environment. Some segments of the public have become deeply suspicious of the veracity and motives of gas companies. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In such solvent, the primary product of the reaction observed at short reaction times was the corresponding trans stilbene epoxide (3), as expected. This product is due to epoxidation of the C C double bond catalyzed by titanium(IV) centers in the presence of alkyl hydroperoxides and such behavior is fully consistent with several previous observations. In addition, thanks the use of anhydrous TBHP, the reaction proceeded mainly following a heterolytic oxidation pathway and hence with a good selectivity to the desired epoxide. The text states that Cpt. Sullenberger said that he had a couple minutes to think after the geese had hit the plane s engine he had to think what he was going to do and he thought where he was going to land in about 1 minutes and 30 seconds. This clearly supports the point because Cpt.
