Similarities Of Mice And Rats
Rats and mice habitat and life cycles Rodents can be found everywhere on earth. Among the
several different types of rodents, the ones that mostly prefer to live near humans, being the
most numerous, are the mice and rats. They live in colonies which comprise of complex
hierarchies, wherein they form deep bonds, often putting their own lives at risk to save family
and friends. Their best habitats are cavities, holes inside walls, in sewer pipes, in stores where
foodstuffs are kept, in the fields and in garbage dumps. As a matter of fact, they love to live
anywhere food is available and is convenient for them to put up a nest. In addition, they can easily
adjust to any kind of climate and even wipe out original mammals occupying the same niche. The
differences between rats and mice Although both rats and mice appear similar to the normal

They reproduce rapidly, as generally it is the case with small prey animals. No matter how well
they are cared for, they possess somewhat short life span. Generally they have short gestational
periods and their quick sexual maturity makes effective rodent control decisive. The
reproductive cycle and the number of these rodent s offspring increases with sufficient water,
food and harbourage. Mice become sexually mature and able to mate in as little as 5 weeks.
Generally, sexual maturity is reached in five to eight weeks. In captivity, mice never worry about
predators rather they do worry about hazards such as obesity, which can shorten their lives.
Similar to mice, the average life cycle of rats is about two to three years. They become sexually
matured in two to three months and can reproduce about 7 litters yearly. The gestation period for
rats is short also, about three weeks for most of the

Sociological Perspectives Of The LGBT Community
The LGBT community has been silently suffering through generations. But in this generation, they
are finally showing the world their voice. There have been many instances where young adults were
denied their right to be who they are and now they are speaking out about the mistreatment. Even
though the united states have begun to be more open about the LGBTcommunity here is still more
change it come. These changes can be explained through many sociological perspectives including:
functionalist, conflict, symbolic interactionism and interactionism. Along with these perspective
religion, norms and deviance all impact these individuals who are striving to be open about who
they really are inside and out.
The American society impacts thousands of LGBT people annually. Estimating around 9 million
Americans identify as being lesbian, gay, bisexual and or transgender (Gates). Each of these people
are personally impacted by our society annually. Many personal stories have come out about the
hardships they have to go through. In particular, a recent story that sparked action in the U.S; the
story of Leelah Alcorn a 17 year old suicide victim who experienced bullying, a disapproving
family, discrimination and violence against her identifying as transgender. She identified herself as
a female she learned about who she truly was from her inner psyche. Because of her depressive
thoughts and constant discrimination, she walked in front of oncoming traffic on interstate 71.

Dance In Contemporary Dance
Contemporary dance techniques
There is a lot of confusion when you are asking about the contemporary dance as a lot of people
even the dancers don t know what the actual dance form is. Actually, the dance form changes from
time to time so it is not easy to adapt as you have to change with time. Every now and then there
are new experiments and discoveries in the field of contemporary dance. A lot of people and schools
are there who claim to have expertise on the contemporary dance but they usually teach other
forms of dance like ballroom, salsa or some jazz styles. So it is not about the dancing style but
shape you re in while your movement in dancing which indicates a proper technique of
contemporary dance.
So in the training, the focus must be on the positions and shape rather than the styles while
attending the classes to learn the contemporary style of dancing. Every lesson will surprise you
as it will be very different from the previously taken lesson. These dancing classes are very good
for the preparation of a huge range of movements possible in a student like dynamics, various
forms, and the qualities. That is the only reason contemporary dancers are seen ... Show more

The major difference which draws a line between contemporary dance and other dance
techniques is the relaxed movement which you can see only in contemporary dance. It has
different names in different places, some call it Release Technique . The dancing is very
different from a gym workout as it can be done in a very relaxed way and keeps you away from
unnecessary tension. The execution of movement is very essential while performing a
contemporary dance as it enhances the self awareness of the dancer. The dancing form allows the
freedom of the well being of a dancer rather than just some physical training exercises which help
to improve a dancer in both mind and body. Professional dancers love this technique a lot as it is
very pleasant to work

Reaction Paper On Hydrazones
2.1. Hydrazones:
Hydrazones are a special class of organic compound in the Schiff base family. They are
characterized by the prescence of azomethine ( C=N N=C 15 min). The hydrazones obtained are
tested for their DNA cleavage properties and some of them are found to show good chemical
nuclease activity in the presence of both oxidizing agent (H2O2) and reducing agent (MPA). Some
of them exhibited hydrolytic activity and their antioxidant activity was found to be very low.
2.5. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Though aryl hydrazones of aryl aldehydes, known as Schiff bases, are well known, the study of
any hydrazones (28) of 2 chlororquinoline 3 carbaldehydes (26) is scanty. Srivastava et al, have

Cultural Competence In Social Work
Cultural competence is a major component in social work as it enables us to communicate
effectively with people of different background and cultures. (Suppes Wells, p. 79.) By definition,
culture is a universal phenomenon as it refers to family values, education, work, religion, success,
food, and social class. (NASW, p. 14.) In this paper, I will compare and contrast my own cultural
background with that of one of my best friends, Dawn Denny who happens to be a Guyanese.
Most Haitians place a great emphasis on family values regardless of their social status. While both
parents play a vital role in the family, the male is the dominant one, the head of the house,
despite the fact that the mother works, rears, cares for the children and maintains the house. It s
tremendously hard to get a job in Haiti as the labor industry is extremely bias, you not only need
to know someone from the inside, but it is also based on age and color of your skin. The
younger, the lighter the skin pigment, and the more likely it is to get hired. As a result of that,
women often struggle with sexual harassment in the work place. The probability of getting a job
without a college degree is very slim to none so therefore, a college education is crucial. A child
primary responsibility is to focus in school and get good grades until graduated college, but
because college tuition is so expensive, only the upper class can afford to send their kids to school.

What is the importance of the description of Alison in...
In The Miller s Tale , the poet Chaucer depicts the tale of a hende man and his attempt to tempt
the primerole Alisoun to commit adultery and therefore render her husband, John a cokewold .
The Miller s Tale is just one story amongst a collection of greater works known collectively as
The Canterbury Tales . The placing of this tale is significant becomes it comes directly after the
Knight s Tale revolving around nobility and chivalry and forms a direct contrast due to the fact it
is bawdy, lewd and highly inappropriate. The tale is a fabliau, a versified short story designed to
make you laugh; concerned usually with sexual or excretory functions. The plot often involves
members of the clergy, and is usually in the form of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are also invited to think of Alison as a sexual being in the line upon hir lendes (loins) We can
also infer that Alison is somewhat promiscuous (and therefore John has a right to [hold] hire
narwe in cage ) because we are told that her shoes were laced on hir legges hye and we would only
know that if her skirt was hitched up. Short skirts in those days had connotations with prostitutes,
the same as they do today.
The appropriate attitude for a man to take to such a woman (the Miller thinks) is shown by such
terms as quot;popelote quot;, quot;primerole quot; and quot;piggesnie quot;, for which we can
readily find modern equivalents. Alison is suitable as a mistress for quot;any lord quot;; as a
wife, she can expect at best to marry a yeoman, for any good yeman to wedde . Among the many
other physical details packed into the Miller s set piece description we learn that Alison has
delicately plucked sloe black eyebrows; that she is tall and erect ( upright as a bolt ) and that her
breath is sweet. Much of the account is taken up with an inventory of her clothes. These seem
fairly expensive, but John evidently wishes her to spend on her wardrobe. The clothes are stylish
and exaggerate her attractive features. We learn that many garments are of silk, that smock and
collar are embroidered, that her apron is

Abolitionism Of 1860
Good afternoon everyone,
After reading chapters 1 and 2 in our textbook I discovered many policies that were instated to
help in the expansion of the West. The one I would like to discuss is the Homestead Act of 1862.
Shortly after the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was instated (moving many Native Americans off
of western territories), many white individuals were hungry for more land. George Henry Evans,
a labor leader in the House, felt he had a solution to the job deficit problem arising in the East. If
he could provide these low income individuals with low cost or free land, it could help eliminate
the issue. Most of the abolitionist were in favor of this act, feeling that it could help end issues
associated with slavery and the poor. While

The idea of equal rights to all people under a government of laws was decreased by the existence
of slavery. There were the rejection of rights to some people because of race. Although, the
Constitution and Bill of Rights did not outlaw slavery and discrimination based on the race or
gender. One of the greatest early opponents of slavery and racial discrimination, Frederick
Douglass, argued in a speech (1852) that interpreted as it ought to be interpreted, the Constitution is
a glorious liberty document. The American concept of equal rights under law, however, was not
clearly included in the Constitution until after the Civil War; with passage of the three
reconstruction era amendments. The 13th Amendment (1865) banned slavery. The 14th

Earliest Memory Research Paper
I don t really know what my first memory is, but I do know that one of my earliest memories is

mud home still stands today.
My entire family and I were on our way to this mighty mud home for Dashain. Dashain is one of

I have friends at my high school whose parents work as researchers or professors at the Colorado

works at a dining hall of the university.
I have friends at my high school who can talk about their parents, their siblings, their neighbors
going to Ivy Leagues, but for the Nepali kids I have grown up with the conversation around
college is completely different. It s a matter of if I go to this college, how will I afford it? How
will it affect my parents, will I still be able to support them, what about my siblings? The cost of
education start to outweigh its actual value.
As heavy as some of these topics sound, all of these struggles that I have had to think through have
changed me for the better though. They have made me more mindful of the privileges I have, more
grateful of all that my parents have done for me, and more humble about my mud home planted

Papacy Crisis
During the medieval period, debates over the pope s power created significant tension between
the Papacy and Europe s kings. These tensions manifested themselves in the Investiture Crisis of
the late 11th and early 12th centuries, a quarrel between Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV and
Pope Gregory VII over the appointment of bishops. This controversy came to a head when Henry
used his army to force Gregory VII out of Rome to install his anti PopeClement III. While the
Concordat of Worms resolved the crisis, the impacts of the Investiture Crisis continued to affect the
Papacy. One of the Investiture Crisis most notably facets was its demonstration of how the Papacy

advantage. The impact of the Investiture Crisis resonated nearly 200 years after it started, as the
assumptions of Gregory VII and Henry IV about their respective powers carried over to Boniface
VIII and Philip IV, albeit changed to fit with the evolving spiritual and temporal nature of the

Jane Eyre And Remains Of The Day By Kazuo Ishiguro
Writers present issues of self awareness through common craft such as Narrative technique, Point
of view, Setting description and dialogue. Charlotte BrontГ« s Jane Eyre and Remains of the Day
by Kazuo Ishiguro both are told from the main protagonists point of view, and brings out their
growing selfawarenessin themselves. The former is able to grow from this experience while the
latter is unable to adapt and is therefore his growth is stunted. Jane Eyre, the main character of Jane
Eyre is narrating her life from her infancy to her present married life. Her book began with her as
a penniless orphan and as she is not directly related to the current head she does not have a
position and is not seen as important. as the book progresses the reader is able to in a sense
grow up with the child and learn her oddities and her righteousness with morals. One also
becomes aware of her grown perception of self. Although she did begin as a strong willed
person, her status did not allow her to be conscious of her self first. The main protagonist of
Remains of the Day is a butler who begins his story to go visit an old acquaintance that worked
with him 20 years ago. Stevens s position as butler, and consequently as servant, has gradually
made it impossible for him to show any emotion. One of the memories that are brought up to the
reader is of when his father dies, Stevens is too occupied with worrying about being a proper butler

Gun Violence And Control Gun Control In The United States
Humanity... All of my suffering on this world has been at the hands of humanity, particularly
women. It has made me realize just how brutal and twisted humanity is as a species. All I ever
wanted was to fit in and live a happy life amongst humanity, but I was cast out and rejected,
forced to endure an existence of loneliness and insignificance, all because the females of the
human species were incapable of seeing the value in me. This is the story of how I, Elliot
Rodger, came to be. This is the story of my entire life. It is a dark story of sadness, anger, and
hatred. It is a story of a war against cruel injustice...This tragedy did not have to happen. I didn t

Importance Of Being Earnest
The Importance of Being Ernest is a comedic play written by Oscar Wilde. It was set and written
during the Victorian Era, and is a parody of the Victorian culture. In the play, there are many
different contrasting characters, including the main character Jack, and Algernon, who we find is
his brother later in the play. Algernon is a very unserious person, who is also quite irresponsible,
and just wants things in life to be fun. We see this a few times throughout the play. For example,
when there has been a big argument between Jack and Algernon and their fiancГ©s, he eats
muffins, and says, when asked about it Well, I can t eat muffins in an agitated manner. The butter
would get on my cuffs. One should always eat muffins calmly. This shows... Show more content on

One similarity is that they re both quite deceptive in order to achieve what they want. The reason
we know this is because they both Bunbury . One point where we see Algernon reveal that he
thinks Bunburying , or using a fake identity or person, is an okay and a normal things to do is
where he says I naturally want to talk to you about Bunburying. I want to tell you all of the rules.
From this, we know that he thinks it s a fine thing to do, and we know that he himself is also quite
deceitful in that way. Also, it shows us that he s happy to find out that Jack does the same as him,
and him not finding it strange means that he thinks it s quite a common thing to be done. Both
characters are untruthful about their true identities at different points in the play, with them both

Many of the international alliances being formed today are still too young for us to evaluate
their full impact. The case of Xerox and Fuji Xerox gives us a unique opportunity to trace the
evolution of such an alliance over a long period of time. We can learn a lot from this experience,
and try both to avoid Xerox s mistakes and copy Xerox s success.

While this case is about a particular type of alliance a separate enterprise owned by Xerox and
Fuji Photo Film it also contains elements of other types of alliance. The relationship between Xerox
and Fuji Xerox, for example, is itself managed through a series of technology and marketing

measure vs. success factors Key success factors Transition
11
An effective question with which to begin the evaluation of the alliance is: What was the role of
Fuji Xerox in Xerox s global strategy before 1990?
12
Key points
1. Fuji Xerox enables Xerox to sell in the Japanese market, as the government requires a joint
venture as that time. This point highlights the role of the government policy in alliance strategies.
2. Because Fuji Xerox was driven by the needs of the Japanese market, it developed capabilities
and products that were different from those of its American parent, and that later turned out to be
valuable. Simply put, it developed small copiers, while Xerox ignored this segment.
13
3. Later on, Fuji Xerox provided Xerox with a window on the Japanese competition their
technologies, the features they were working on, their strategies, and so on. Due to contacts
between engineers and general publicity in Japan surrounding new products, Fuji Xerox would
learn about new developments long before they were embodied in exports to U.S.. 4. Fuji Xerox
benefited directly from the technologies being developed in related industries in Japan, just as its

The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On The Activity Of The Enzyme Catalase
A Level Biology Project
Aims
This is an experiment to examine how the concentration of the substrate hydrogen peroxide affects
the rate of reaction of the enzyme catalase.
Background Information
Enzymes such as Catalase are protein molecules which are found in living cells. They are used to
speed up specific reactions in the cells. They are all very specific as each enzyme just performs one
particular reaction.
Catalase is an enzyme found in food such as potato and liver. It is used for removing Hydrogen
Peroxide from the cells. Hydrogen Peroxide is the poisonous by product of metabolism. Catalase
speeds up the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide into water ... Show more content on

To ensure this is a fair test all the variables except for the concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide must
be kept the same for all the experiments. Variables that must not be altered include:
Temperature, yeast concentration, type of yeast, batch of yeast, volume of yeast, volume of
hydrogen peroxide, air pressure and humidity.
When measuring the volumes of Hydrogen Peroxide, Yeast and Water the measurement should be
taken by looking at the scale at an angle of 90 degrees to it to avoid any parallax error.
Predictions
I predict that as the substrate concentration increases, the rate of reaction will go up at a directly
proportional rate until the solution becomes saturated with the substrate hydrogen peroxide. When
this saturation point is reached, then adding extra substrate will make no difference.
The rate steadily increases when more substrate is added because more of the active sites of the
enzyme are being used which results in more reactions so the required amount of oxygen is made
more quickly. Once the amount of substrate molecules added exceeds the number of active sites
available then the rate of reaction will no longer go up. This is because the maximum number of
reactions are being done at once so any extra substrate molecules have to wait until some of the
active sites

Compassion Fatigue Case Study
Finally the third hypothesis was that work drain and history of traumas would have a supportive
relationship with compassion fatigue and emotional self awareness would have a negative
relationship with compassion fatigue. The third hypothesis is looking at feeling drained at
work and a person s own personal history of trauma would positively correlate with compassion
fatigue and that if a person had insight into their own emotional state that person would score
lower on compassion fatigue. The therapists sense of powerlessness (.32), work drain (.32),
emotional self awareness ( .24), and personal trauma history(.23) greatly impacted Compassion
Fatigue. According to Killian (2008), the biggest factors to impact compassion satisfaction
positively is an individual s social support(.46), internal locus of control at work(.22) and
negatively is work hours( .37). Meaning that the more social support people have outside of work
would increase their feeling of compassion satisfaction and belief that they have control over the
outcome of their experience also positively increases their compassion satisfaction. If a person is

Indians Vs. The Constitution Essay
They are Native Americans who are trying to build better lives for themselves but are stopped in
there tracks by the state supreme court. Proposition 5 passed in November of 98, which would
allow more gambling in the Indian reservations. The proposition was ruled to be unconstitutional.
Now the Indians are rebutting the fact that they are sovereign and the ballot was passed.
Under existing law, Indian tribes operate as semi sovereign nations, and are liable under federal law
only. Recently, the long standing political and legal tension between the Indians and the
government, which has characterized the relationship since colonization, has entered into the
debate over tribal gaming. Indian gaming is not new to California. In fact, ... Show more content on

Many tribes contend that, as sovereign nations, they are not subject to state regulation. The state
has demanded the tribes to cease their gambling operations and enter into an agreement with the
state, which will allow quot;legal quot; tribal gaming. Some tribes have agreed to Wilson s
demands, recently signing the Wilson Pala Compact that provides state control of tribal gaming
and also establishes a limit on the size of gaming operations. The majority of tribes have refused to
agree to the terms of the Wilson Pala Compact, however, claiming that it is inflexible and grants the
state too much power over tribal affairs.
Proposition 5 provides the terms of a tribal gaming compact and requires the Governor to permit any
tribe to enter into the compact upon request. In general terms, Proposition 5 s compact contains
fewer restrictions upon tribal gaming than is provided for in the Wilson Pala Compact and is more
protective of Indian sovereignty. The differences relate to such diverse issues as the number of slot
machines permitted, the type of games authorized, the degree of state involvement in regulating
tribal gaming, employee rights, local community involvement, liability provisions, and the
applicability of state health and safety requirements.
Two constitutional concerns arise from the language of the proposition. The first is whether the
proposition establishes a statute, or

Lorenzo And Santa Maria Novella Comparison
A comparison between the structure of San Lorenzo and Santa Maria Novella discloses the
same style of High Classical age of fifth century Greece that Alberti and Brunelleschi both aimed
to achieve. In Santa Maria Novella, Alberti introduced Classical features around the portico with
Classical proportions. Moreover, elements such as pilasters, cornices and a pediment in the
Classical style were used instead of sculptures. In regards to the façade designed by Alberti, the
incorporation of two large scrolls to bridge the different levels of the central nave to the lower side
aisles was another feature of Church facades in late Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Revival
architecture.

As shown in diagram one, the vast interior of Santa Maria Novella is divided into a nave, a short
transept and two aisles. The plan of San Lorenzo (diagram two), inspired by classical art, on the
other hand consists of three naves and a conceptualization of modules of aisles. Both plans are
spatially longitudinal with a singular emphasized large nave to convey austerity. Moreover, the
exposure of the full length floor when one enters San Lorenzo produces a visual highlight of
centralization in the area of the transept, of which the central dome meets the corners of a square.
This combination of curve and square is Brunelleschi s rational perception of geometric
relationships an important contrast to Gothic architecture, where cathedrals were intended to awe
and mystify the viewer with the flamboyant beauty of the sacred. The Renaissance church, in
contrast, desires to communicate the idea that math and science were paths to the sacred, as echoed
by Alberti in his treatise, Della Pittura, the harmony of all parts in relation to one another and that
this concord is realized in a particular number, proportion and arrangement demanded by harmony.

The Clanton Gang Essay
In the middle and late part of the nineteenth century, the West was a harsh and dangerous place to
live. Bar fights and murders were being committed in every town. This was acceptable behavior
however in those days. Men settled their problems face to face, and normally, the slower man
ended up dead. Gunfighting in the West was started and carried on by a group of men known as the
Clanton Gang. Old Man Clanton was the leader and founder of gunfighting, his sons carried some
of his fights and continued with their own fights, and his last surviving son parted with gunfighting
and started his own successful business.

A Need For Peaceful Refuge
A Need for Peaceful Refuge Every winter, people living in the middle to upper northern
hemisphere can see birds migrate south in hopes of warmer weather. They need a place of refuge
in order to survive. Humans, although we do not fly south, must move from one place to another
in order to either live, find happiness, or experience societal needs. While some may have
generally one motive for their migration, most will inhabit some other reasons for moving from
their homeland. A current issue in today s world is the crisis occurring in the Middle East. People in
that area are having land disputes for, mainly, both cultural and economic reasons. Because of this,
the conflict was escalated into war, and now many inhabitants of the Middle East must seek refuge
in other places of the world where they can experience economic stability and practice their culture.
The current Syrian refugeecrisis, while it is not the only form of migration among humans on
Earth, is a highly stressed global issue and is a great example of migration. The United Nations
have arranged several refugee camps for the civilians who wish to escape from the warfare.
Unfortunately, their health, education, and economy is at risk. They require a stable society. Caryl
Stern, a journalist who traveled to a camp in Jordan, stated that while they had temporary safety
from the warfare, families were dependent on their children as they generated a mass amount of the
family income (Stern, 2015). Mrs. Stern

Essay on Abolitionists
Abolitionists Strategies of Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and John Brown
Abolitionist Movement was a reform movement during the 18th and 19th centuries. Often called
the antislavery movement, it sought to end the enslavement of Africans and people of African
descent in Europe, the Americas, and Africa itself. It also aimed to end the Atlantic slave trade
carried out in the Atlantic Ocean between Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Many people
participated in trying to end slavery. These people became known as the abolitionists. The three well
known abolitionists are Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and John Brown.

She always expressed confidence that God would aid her efforts, and threatened to shoot any of
her charges who thought to turn back. For example, Tubman had a very short rule, which implied
death to anyone who talked of giving out and going back. She would give all to understand that
times were very critical and therefore no foolishness would be indulged in on the road . Her
subjects were greatly invigorated by Harriet s blunt and positive manner and threat of extreme
measures.
When William Still published The Underground Railroad in 1871, he included a letter from
Thomas Garret, the Stationmaster of Wilmington Delaware. In this letter, Garret describes
Tubman as Moses . He success was wonderful. Time and time again she made successful visits to
Maryland on the Underground Railroad, and would be absent for weeks at a time, running daily
risks while making preparations for herself and her passengers. Great fears were entertained for
her safety, but she seemed wholly devoid of personal fear...she would not suffer one of her party to
whimper once, about giving out and going back, however wearied they might be by the hard travel
day and night.
John Brown was an American abolitionist, born in Connecticut and raised in Ohio. Unlike Truth
and Hubman s peaceful strategies, he felt passionately and violently that he must fight to end
slavery. The success of the pro slavery forces, especially their lack of Lawrence, aroused Brown,

The Continuous Cycle of War Ever since the days of Mesopotamia from the agricultural revolution,
war has been a constant and important part of human life. Over time though, humans have evolved

Religions differing has caused many conflicts throughout history. The feeling of attachment to
tribalism and fake patriotism under the umbrella of religion is stronger and more apparent than
respect for human rights and pluralism (Mhamed 2). When people are tied so greatly to their
religion, they will be willing to throw away their morals and do whatever they deem is right for
their beliefs, leading to constant wars. different tribal and so called patriotic groups resort to
religion to gain legacy and popularity (Mhamad 2). Religion is even just a way to unite people to

The Issue Of Gay Marriage
Gay marriage, something that has increasingly been on the news, is talked about in chapter five.
Lambda Legal Defense eve talks about how they will enforce gay marriage through the
manipulation of the courts. The whole trend started in 1996 in Hawaii, with a ruling there saying
theres no reason to ban gay civil marriages. The biggest problem, is that this is not the job of the
Supreme Court Justices to decide, but elected representatives. In 20 years, the Supreme court has
decided in two cases addressing constitutionality of state sodomy in Bowers v. Hardwick and
Lawrence v. Texas. In Romers v. Evans, it ruled on a state constitution amendment. William F.
Buckley wrote a response where in summary he is declaring the Supreme Court has no right to
be in the bedroom of Americans. Having government involved in any personal matter is
hazardous. The debate over which branch of government gets to decide how, when, and why it
can be there(Levin.73) this is saying that the government will enforce themselves in our privacy

Throughout history justice has been seen as many things depending on your culture, and moral
beliefs among these include, reparations, atonement, vengeance. As humans when we have been

accepted such as reparations, and atonement, others like vengeance have gained negative
connotation. Sometimes this vengeance come more in a form of karma in which the people
who have been wrong seek to do the same or worse to those who have disrespected them. This is

Analysis Of Frankenstein s Monster, And Fredrick Douglass
Knowledge can be the key to freedom or to one s demise, depending on how one choses to act, but
no matter what, gaining knowledge is rarely an easy task. Even for students who have information
readily available to them, like Victor Frankenstein at the University of Ingolstadt, are constantly
under the arduous task of learning. When learning has to be done by any means necessary or in
secret, like Frankensteins monster or Fredrick Douglass, the acquisition of knowledgebecomes even
more daunting and makes the learner even more ardent in their pursuit. Once a person obtains
knowledge, they see their surroundings for what they are and become discontent; they realize their
potential and take action to change their life, which can be seen through the eyes of Victor
Frankenstein, his monster, and Fredrick Douglass.
Victor Frankenstein was obsessed with knowledge, and thought knowledge was the key to
unlocking nature and become a pioneer in science and challenging God. I have described myself
as always having been imbued with a fervent longing to penetrate the secrets of nature (Shelley,
Frankenstein, 21). Victor always had to push boundaries, and his passion drove him closer to
science and immorality and farther from his family and friends. Once Victor sees his abomination
animated, his potential come alive, he wishes for nothing more than if it had never happened. He
moves on to a new obsession fleeing his past. It consumes him and his health.

Analysis Of Bellezza And The Non-Verbal Realm In Social...
Bellezza and the Non Verbal Realm in Social Interaction
Social interactions influence our relationships and how people view one another. An interaction
can be verbal or non verbal, but still can connect or separate two people. Three articles discuss
different forms of social interactions and how they affect varied types of relationships.
Wicklund, and Vida Grim (2004) describe the role of bellezza in interpersonal relationships.
Bellezza is known as the objects that are pleasing to the senses. These objects refer to the visual,
acoustical, olfactory and tactile aspects of people. Bellezza differs between each person, but
generally follows a few prerequisites, including the absence of pressing drives, cultural
understanding, and input from sensory dimensions. The absence of pressing drives includes an
open mind free of anxiety, fear, and other strong drives, while cultural understanding refers to the
education needed to understand there are different customs for each culture. Lastly, although the
input of several sensory dimensions is ideal for bellezza, it is not necessary to need all sensory
dimensions at the same time. Finally, bellezza can be broken down into short term and long term
preparations. It is necessary to have short term contact such as eye contact, an appropriate distance
apart, and good posture to be open to creating bellezza for another person. In order to maintain
bellezza in the long term, an individual must first develop a solidarity of esthetic impressions, then
agree to meet again in the future.
Bertacco and Deponte (2005) analyzed the communicative experience by comparing letter writing

long lost friend. It was hypothesized that participants who wrote an email would be more concise
in their writing, with less references to shared knowledge at the implicit and explicit level in
experiment 1. Thus, perspective taking was measured by the number of a participant s references
to memories with their long lost friend. This was recorded after the letter was finished, where
participants were asked to record as many memories as they could in two minutes. Results from

The Importance Of Operant Conditioning
Operant Conditioning Within the early 19th Century, Edward Throne like conducted experiments
on dogs and cats to determine the way these animals behave under certain conditions. These studies
were conducted through replicating and standardizing the circumstances that the animals were in
through a controlled environment. As such, this model demonstrated that animals had the nature to
learn when they were presented with certain consequences. In 1938, Burrhus Friederich (B. F.)
developed the core idea of the Operant ConditioningSkinner, which claims that operant
conditioning, was brought about by the response from the operant under threat (Sakagami, Lattal,
2016). Some factors were involved in the increase of the operant conditioning especially when
Edward Thorndike was examining the behavior of cats and rats. It was necessary to consider the
problem solving abilities of these animals within puzzle boxes that would otherwise lead the
animals in a state of constraint. Moreover, there was a need to understand the relationship exhibited
between the appropriate reaction to the individual situation and the associated strengths to the same.
Moreover, other factors such as the ability of the animals to learn under the conditions presented as
was later proven by Skinner.
The core principles that are important in understanding the operant conditioning and how it may
result in the retention offer includes the operant variability where the individual may experience
emitted behavioral

I knew that my reading process was not efficient for the academic purposes. Before this class, my
critical reading was more akin to my pleasure reading. Thus, I spent incredible amounts of time on
reading assignments. I believe that the lesson about critical reading was very informative and
helpful since it provided particular methods and techniques which truly enhance the reading quality.
Some of the techniques like skimming the titles, finding the thesis and main ideas in the text were
familiar to me. However, the idea of annotation was new to me. I found the three word ... Show

Though I have spent many years learning English, it is an ongoing process that requires a lot of
hard work. I was very glad to find out that the first four weeks of the course would be focused on
grammatical rules and sentence patterns. Because I never focused on the structure of my sentences,
I believe I wrote dull and flat texts. Moreover, my punctuation was terrible since I had no
understanding of English punctuation. But the lessons on the sentence structure turned my world
upside down: It was hard to believe that even simple sentences have such a great variety and can
turn your paper into something very interesting in the terms of structure. Practicing skill of
building effective sentences in the same essay was very helpful, for it allowed to focus purely on
the sentence and structure patterns rather than on the context. My writing improved since the
beginning of the semester and I became a more confident

Formal Analysis on Anthony van Dyck s Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of Southampton
There are actually two versions of Anthony van Dyck s painting of the countess of Southampton;
Anthony van Dyck, Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of Southampton, ca. 1640, National Gallery of
Victoria, Melbourne (see fig. 1) and Anthony van Dyck, Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of
Southampton as Fortune , ca. 1638, Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge (see fig.2).
There have been discussions on which between the two is the primary version. Ursula Hoff argued
that the painting located ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an obvious use of geometric shape of a circle on the sphere to form its whole shape and
having organic shapes for the whole figure of the countess and especially the clouds in the
background and foreground. The artist has also managed to develop the texture in this painting.
He mainly used light and rough brushstrokes instead of thick layers of paint like impasto. Gentle
and small brushstrokes build up the figure of Rachel de Ruvigny, from her hair to her gown.
These brushstrokes do not appear loose or quick. The shine and the way the fabric flows create
the texture of silk (see fig. 6). The application of oil paint has helped in achieving the production
of this texture. For the clouds, the build up of paint through dabbing and swirling has made
them look soft and fluffy. The sphere is also painted with reflective spots and a smooth surface
to create the texture of a sleek fragile orb. Moving on to the colour harmony of this painting,
Anthony van Dyck has used complementary colours two of which are blue and orange. The
subject, Rachel de Ruvigny, is mainly wearing a blue/blue green gown as where the background
and other objects such as the sphere and skull are painted in this dark hue of orange that contrasts
with the main subject. Van Dyck has also used different types of lines in this painting. Firstly, the
folds and wrinkles in her clothes are created by soft and sensual lines that have made the fabric
more realistic. Also, contour lines have been used to

Lab Report On The 20 Wheat Seedlings
The 20 wheat seedlings was the sample size used in each of the five treatments, see Table 1.
Among those 10 unpaired t tests two out of the 10, Test 5 (Shoot length 1XCM vs 4XCM) and
Test 6 (Seedling biomass Water vs 1XCM) had actual p values greater than 0.05 (see Table 1). The
calculated t values for the previously mentioned two t tests were lower than the critical t value,
2.024 (see Table 1). For shoot length (cm), the trend shows mean shoot length to increase with
increasing concentration of nutrient treatment until 3XCM, where the mean and standard deviation
is at its greatest (xМ…= 27.945cmВ±5.605cm) and drops slightly at 4XCM (see Figure 1). The
pattern of the mean biomass (g), increases up to treatment 2XCM (xМ…=0.2275gВ±0.0488g) at
which mean values begin to decline a slight degree afterwards (see Figure 2).
Table 1. Data collected of shoot length (cm) and seedling biomass (g), depicting the calculated t
value and actual p value for each of the 10 two tailed t tests along with the critical t value and cut
off p value. Figure 1. The mean shoot length (cm) for the control and each concentration of the full
medium complement is illustrated, along with standard deviation error bars. A sample size of 20
for each experimental treatment was used to calculate the mean.

complement, along with standard deviation error bars. Each experimental treatment had a sample

Pulp Fiction Film Techniques
Editing Time and Space in Movie Making
Editing Time and Space in Movie Making
Citizen Kane (1941)
The manipulation of time and space in the film of citizen cane is different from that of Pulp Fiction
in that it considers formal elements of film technique such as Mise en scene where it essentially
involves a costume, setting and makeup staging and lighting (Belton, 46). The very important scene
that happens in front of the camera appears in the final shot of the film. The setting function of the
film has highlighted the key aspect of Kane s life compared to Pulp Fiction that is seen to intersect
in many venues (Belton, 37).
Cinematography has been used in the process of capturing the moving images and the manipulation
of such images (Belton, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the editor has been able to create something in the movie that cannot be filmed by
the use of various techniques in order to show the change of time visibly. These techniques give
the editor a chance to give a different effect and be able to create something totally different to the
film. The use of technique shows people an object change or the environment of an object change
of a certain period of time such as a person acting in the film such as getting older or younger
(Belton, 57).
The film of Pulp Fiction is a good example of manipulation of time and space. Quentin Tarantino
directed an iconic film that was filled with humor and violence as well as a nonlinear storyline. The
art of the techniques is used to connect the interconnecting storylines of the mobster, fringe players,
the mysterious briefcase and the small criminals (Belton, 46). This has presented the film in a
chronological manner as a result of its unconventional structure, the extensive used of homage and
the pictures of self reflexity. The holdup stage dinner starts the film in where the technique of time
and space is used in order to pick up the story of Jules, Vincent, and Butch (Belton,

  • 9. Cultural Competence In Social Work Cultural competence is a major component in social work as it enables us to communicate effectively with people of different background and cultures. (Suppes Wells, p. 79.) By definition, culture is a universal phenomenon as it refers to family values, education, work, religion, success, food, and social class. (NASW, p. 14.) In this paper, I will compare and contrast my own cultural background with that of one of my best friends, Dawn Denny who happens to be a Guyanese. Most Haitians place a great emphasis on family values regardless of their social status. While both parents play a vital role in the family, the male is the dominant one, the head of the house, despite the fact that the mother works, rears, cares for the children and maintains the house. It s tremendously hard to get a job in Haiti as the labor industry is extremely bias, you not only need to know someone from the inside, but it is also based on age and color of your skin. The younger, the lighter the skin pigment, and the more likely it is to get hired. As a result of that, women often struggle with sexual harassment in the work place. The probability of getting a job without a college degree is very slim to none so therefore, a college education is crucial. A child primary responsibility is to focus in school and get good grades until graduated college, but because college tuition is so expensive, only the upper class can afford to send their kids to school. George Henry Evans, a labor leader in the House, felt he had a solution to the job deficit problem arising in the East. The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On The Activity Of The Enzyme Catalase A Level Biology Project Aims This is an experiment to examine how the concentration of the substrate hydrogen peroxide affects the rate of reaction of the enzyme catalase. Background Information Enzymes such as Catalase are protein molecules which are found in living cells. They are used to speed up specific reactions in the cells. They are all very specific as each enzyme just performs one particular reaction. Catalase is an enzyme found in food such as potato and liver. It is used for removing Hydrogen Peroxide from the cells. Hydrogen Peroxide is the poisonous by product of metabolism. Catalase speeds up the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide into water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To ensure this is a fair test all the variables except for the concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide must be kept the same for all the experiments. Variables that must not be altered include: Temperature, yeast concentration, type of yeast, batch of yeast, volume of yeast, volume of hydrogen peroxide, air pressure and humidity. When measuring the volumes of Hydrogen Peroxide, Yeast and Water the measurement should be taken by looking at the scale at an angle of 90 degrees to it to avoid any parallax error. Predictions I predict that as the substrate concentration increases, the rate of reaction will go up at a directly proportional rate until the solution becomes saturated with the substrate hydrogen peroxide. When this saturation point is reached, then adding extra substrate will make no difference. The rate steadily increases when more substrate is added because more of the active sites of the enzyme are being used which results in more reactions so the required amount of oxygen is made more quickly. Once the amount of substrate molecules added exceeds the number of active sites available then the rate of reaction will no longer go up. This is because the maximum number of reactions are being done at once so any extra substrate molecules have to wait until some of the active sites ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The therapists sense of powerlessness (.32), work drain (.32), emotional self awareness ( .24), and personal trauma history(.23) greatly impacted Compassion Fatigue. According to Killian (2008), the biggest factors to impact compassion satisfaction positively is an individual s social support(.46), internal locus of control at work(.22) and negatively is work hours( .37). Proposition 5 passed in November of 98, which would allow more gambling in the Indian reservations. The proposition was ruled to be unconstitutional. Now the Indians are rebutting the fact that they are sovereign and the ballot was passed. Under existing law, Indian tribes operate as semi sovereign nations, and are liable under federal law only. The state has demanded the tribes to cease their gambling operations and enter into an agreement with the state, which will allow quot;legal quot; tribal gaming. Some tribes have agreed to Wilson s demands, recently signing the Wilson Pala Compact that provides state control of tribal gaming and also establishes a limit on the size of gaming operations. The majority of tribes have refused to agree to the terms of the Wilson Pala Compact, however, claiming that it is inflexible and grants the state too much power over tribal affairs. Proposition 5 provides the terms of a tribal gaming compact and requires the Governor to permit any tribe to enter into the compact upon request. In general terms, Proposition 5 s compact contains fewer restrictions upon tribal gaming than is provided for in the Wilson Pala Compact and is more protective of Indian sovereignty. The differences relate to such diverse issues as the number of slot machines permitted, the type of games authorized, the degree of state involvement in regulating tribal gaming, employee rights, local community involvement, liability provisions, and the applicability of state health and safety requirements. Lorenzo And Santa Maria Novella Comparison A comparison between the structure of San Lorenzo and Santa Maria Novella discloses the same style of High Classical age of fifth century Greece that Alberti and Brunelleschi both aimed to achieve. In Santa Maria Novella, Alberti introduced Classical features around the portico with Classical proportions. Moreover, elements such as pilasters, cornices and a pediment in the Classical style were used instead of sculptures. In regards to the faГ§ade designed by Alberti, the incorporation of two large scrolls to bridge the different levels of the central nave to the lower side aisles was another feature of Church facades in late Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Revival architecture. Both plans are spatially longitudinal with a singular emphasized large nave to convey austerity. Moreover, the exposure of the full length floor when one enters San Lorenzo produces a visual highlight of centralization in the area of the transept, of which the central dome meets the corners of a square. This combination of curve and square is Brunelleschi s rational perception of geometric relationships an important contrast to Gothic architecture, where cathedrals were intended to awe and mystify the viewer with the flamboyant beauty of the sacred. The Renaissance church, in contrast, desires to communicate the idea that math and science were paths to the sacred, as echoed by Alberti in his treatise, Della Pittura, the harmony of all parts in relation to one another and that this concord is realized in a particular number, proportion and arrangement demanded by harmony. ... They need a place of refuge in order to survive. Humans, although we do not fly south, must move from one place to another in order to either live, find happiness, or experience societal needs. While some may have generally one motive for their migration, most will inhabit some other reasons for moving from their homeland. A current issue in today s world is the crisis occurring in the Middle East. People in that area are having land disputes for, mainly, both cultural and economic reasons. Because of this, the conflict was escalated into war, and now many inhabitants of the Middle East must seek refuge in other places of the world where they can experience economic stability and practice their culture. • 37. Analysis Of Bellezza And The Non-Verbal Realm In Social... Bellezza and the Non Verbal Realm in Social Interaction Social interactions influence our relationships and how people view one another. An interaction can be verbal or non verbal, but still can connect or separate two people. Three articles discuss different forms of social interactions and how they affect varied types of relationships. Wicklund, and Vida Grim (2004) describe the role of bellezza in interpersonal relationships. Bellezza is known as the objects that are pleasing to the senses. These objects refer to the visual, acoustical, olfactory and tactile aspects of people. Bellezza differs between each person, but generally follows a few prerequisites, including the absence of pressing drives, cultural understanding, and input from sensory dimensions. The absence of pressing drives includes an open mind free of anxiety, fear, and other strong drives, while cultural understanding refers to the education needed to understand there are different customs for each culture. Lastly, although the input of several sensory dimensions is ideal for bellezza, it is not necessary to need all sensory dimensions at the same time. Finally, bellezza can be broken down into short term and long term preparations. It is necessary to have short term contact such as eye contact, an appropriate distance apart, and good posture to be open to creating bellezza for another person. In order to maintain bellezza in the long term, an individual must first develop a solidarity of esthetic impressions, then agree to meet again in the future. Bertacco and Deponte (2005) analyzed the communicative experience by comparing letter writing to emails. Through two experiments, students were asked to write either a letter or email to a long lost friend. It was hypothesized that participants who wrote an email would be more concise in their writing, with less references to shared knowledge at the implicit and explicit level in experiment 1. Thus, perspective taking was measured by the number of a participant s references to memories with their long lost friend. This was recorded after the letter was finished, where participants were asked to record as many memories as they could in two minutes. Results from experiment one show that email ... These studies were conducted through replicating and standardizing the circumstances that the animals were in through a controlled environment. As such, this model demonstrated that animals had the nature to learn when they were presented with certain consequences. In 1938, Burrhus Friederich (B. Some factors were involved in the increase of the operant conditioning especially when Edward Thorndike was examining the behavior of cats and rats. It was necessary to consider the problem solving abilities of these animals within puzzle boxes that would otherwise lead the animals in a state of constraint. Moreover, there was a need to understand the relationship exhibited between the appropriate reaction to the individual situation and the associated strengths to the same. There is an obvious use of geometric shape of a circle on the sphere to form its whole shape and having organic shapes for the whole figure of the countess and especially the clouds in the background and foreground. The artist has also managed to develop the texture in this painting. He mainly used light and rough brushstrokes instead of thick layers of paint like impasto. Gentle and small brushstrokes build up the figure of Rachel de Ruvigny, from her hair to her gown. These brushstrokes do not appear loose or quick. The shine and the way the fabric flows create the texture of silk (see fig. 6). The application of oil paint has helped in achieving the production of this texture. For the clouds, the build up of paint through dabbing and swirling has made them look soft and fluffy. The sphere is also painted with reflective spots and a smooth surface to create the texture of a sleek fragile orb. Moving on to the colour harmony of this painting, Anthony van Dyck has used complementary colours two of which are blue and orange. The subject, Rachel de Ruvigny, is mainly wearing a blue/blue green gown as where the background and other objects such as the sphere and skull are painted in this dark hue of orange that contrasts with the main subject. Van Dyck has also used different types of lines in this painting. Firstly, the folds and wrinkles in her clothes are created by soft and sensual lines that have made the fabric more realistic. Also, contour lines have been used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Lab Report On The 20 Wheat Seedlings The 20 wheat seedlings was the sample size used in each of the five treatments, see Table 1. Among those 10 unpaired t tests two out of the 10, Test 5 (Shoot length 1XCM vs 4XCM) and Test 6 (Seedling biomass Water vs 1XCM) had actual p values greater than 0.05 (see Table 1). The calculated t values for the previously mentioned two t tests were lower than the critical t value, 2.024 (see Table 1). For shoot length (cm), the trend shows mean shoot length to increase with increasing concentration of nutrient treatment until 3XCM, where the mean and standard deviation is at its greatest (xМ…= 27.945cmВ±5.605cm) and drops slightly at 4XCM (see Figure 1). The pattern of the mean biomass (g), increases up to treatment 2XCM (xМ…=0.2275gВ±0.0488g) at which mean values begin to decline a slight degree afterwards (see Figure 2). Table 1. Data collected of shoot length (cm) and seedling biomass (g), depicting the calculated t value and actual p value for each of the 10 two tailed t tests along with the critical t value and cut off p value. Figure 1. The mean shoot length (cm) for the control and each concentration of the full medium complement is illustrated, along with standard deviation error bars. A sample size of 20 for each experimental treatment was used to calculate the mean. Figure 2. Mean seedling biomass (g) for the control and each concentration of the nutrient complement, along with standard deviation error bars. Each experimental treatment had a sample size of 20 that ... • 44. Pulp Fiction Film Techniques Editing Time and Space in Movie Making Editing Time and Space in Movie Making Citizen Kane (1941) The manipulation of time and space in the film of citizen cane is different from that of Pulp Fiction in that it considers formal elements of film technique such as Mise en scene where it essentially involves a costume, setting and makeup staging and lighting (Belton, 46). The very important scene that happens in front of the camera appears in the final shot of the film. The setting function of the film has highlighted the key aspect of Kane s life compared to Pulp Fiction that is seen to intersect in many venues (Belton, 37). Cinematography has been used in the process of capturing the moving images and the manipulation of such images (Belton, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the editor has been able to create something in the movie that cannot be filmed by the use of various techniques in order to show the change of time visibly. These techniques give the editor a chance to give a different effect and be able to create something totally different to the film. The use of technique shows people an object change or the environment of an object change of a certain period of time such as a person acting in the film such as getting older or younger (Belton, 57). The film of Pulp Fiction is a good example of manipulation of time and space. Quentin Tarantino directed an iconic film that was filled with humor and violence as well as a nonlinear storyline. The art of the techniques is used to connect the interconnecting storylines of the mobster, fringe players, the mysterious briefcase and the small criminals (Belton, 46). This has presented the film in a chronological manner as a result of its unconventional structure, the extensive used of homage and the pictures of self reflexity. The holdup stage dinner starts the film in where the technique of time and space is used in order to pick up the story of Jules, Vincent, and Butch (Belton, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
