Thomas Paine Rights Of Men Essay
Korey Wiggins Mrs. Saunders AP English 3 12 February 2018 Argumentative Practice Essay Two
America a melting pot due to its broad cultural background. America welcomes everyone. But, only
the natives are welcome into society. Thomas Paine s Rights of Men is mistaken in thinking America
is a flawless country with no societal problems due to skin color or social background. Paine said The
poor are not oppressed, the rich are not privileged, The poor have always been oppressed and the rich
always have an upper hand. A rich man s name is spoke in a room and people shudder, but a poor man
s name is only known to his family and himself. Poor men have a disadvantage in money and if you

Women and anyone of color affiliated with a white man of middle or upper class. Poor men are seen
as dirty and illiterate. They can not get ahead in life because society immediately labels them

money to pay for tuition, pay off a judge to clear their record, and enough money to buy a adequate
lawyer. Even in the movies anyone who is a criminal and well off they are shown with luxury prison
cells. How can a prison cell even be luxurious? If you have enough money or your family name has
enough pull then you can get anything you want. Money means power and power is the only thing
anyone wants in America. To achieve the American dream you have to be ruthless. If you are poor you
have t work ten times harder than the rich white guy. If you are a black women in America you have to

Nurturing Natures By Graham Music
In Graham Music s book, Nurturing Natures: Attachment and Children s Emotional, Sociocultural,
and Brain Development, Music explains to the reader how poverty, neglect and trauma can be
associated with PTSD, posttraumatic stress disorder, and how PTSD can develop into long term
psychiatric and even physical medical conditions. Neglect of a child can affect them later in life and
affect their learning, social, mobile and regular everyday functions and activities. Music also shows
the reader how early childhood experiences can impact attachment between mother and child. In
addition, while neglect can occur at anytime during development, children are most vulnerable
because of their reliance on adults in order to survive. He shows the reader ... Show more content on

The most damaging form of trauma is interpersonal trauma which is far more likely than other
traumas, such as car accidents, to give rise to posttraumatic symptoms (Van der Kolk, 1989). Maybe
the worst form of interpersonal trauma is that inflicted by a child s carers. When a carer turns abuser,
then the world feels unsafe and unpredictable. Serious abuse often leads to fear, helplessness, shame...
(Music 206)
Music shows how early trauma and neglect can impair a child s education, social activities and life.
Children need constant parental monitoring in order to thrive. Without constant redirection, nurturing
and advice especially in vulnerable communities like impoverished homes and poor neighborhoods
external negative influences can neglect can set in triggering PTSD like symptoms. In short, without
parental monitoring, children do not learn the necessities in order to live life to the fullest. Music
explains PTSD to include intrusive thoughts and flashbacks. Interpersonal trauma refers to injuries
and neglect that can be sustained within families. Children are negatively impacted by neglect because
if the parent is unable to meet the child s basic and psychological needs, then not only is the child at
risk, but the parent is demonstrating irresponsible behavior. This, in turn, becomes the normalcy for
these children and they bring these irresponsible behaviors into adulthood and the

Egypt s Influence On The World
For the past few centuries, Egypt was ruled by foreigners that distributed wealth among their peers
and made the indigenous people their subjects. During the Nineteenth century, Egypt was ruled by
Mehmet Ali and his descendants. Mehmet Ali was a general sent by the Ottoman empire to expel
Napoleon Bonaparte from Egypt. Due to the increase pressure on the Ottoman Empire by Russia from
the North, Mehmet Ali parted ways and planned to build his own empire with military strength. Since
then, the leaders of Egypt have sustain power on owning majority of vast land. The land is used for
agriculture that produces revenue to support the army of Mehmet Ali. This land was distributed among
the friends and families of the kings who ruled Egypt who strengthen throughout the century. During
the late nineteenth century to mid 20 century, the British extend their rule in Egypt. This was strategic
for the British because they built the Suez canal which gave them a shorter route to India. Controlling
the Suez Canal enabled them to control world trade which made their empire even stronger. However,
the British not only controlled the Canal but exploited land. Cotton became the second most extracted
product from Egypt that went to the mills in the United Kingdom. It wasn t until the Free officers
revolted against the British to leave and the indigenous Egyptians for the first time controlled their
own country after centuries.

Rebellion In John Locke s The Second Treatise Of Government
In John Locke s The Second Treatise of Government he argues that under certain circumstances the
people have a right to rebel against powers of authority that assume this influence in unjust ways. The
question of the right of rebellion is an interesting dilemma. In a particular society, should the people
reserve the right to revolt against the established order? Is this an effective means of restraining a
tyrant? Who knows the best course of action for a particular society: the people or the ruler? This
essay will investigate and critically asses Locke s argument of the right to rebellion. Locke primarily
puts power within the sovereign while I criticize this argument and contemplate that power always
innately lives within the poeple. John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Locke s justification of the right to rebel is based of the consent of the people being governed which
leaves the people only with the power of consensual agreement. I think Locke should more fully
develop limitations which take into consideration the rising power of the sovereign s subjects. I agree
with Locke on the power of having a contractual agreement with a sovereign possessing humanity
which lets the people hold accountability towards someone and helps to point out an innately flawed
nature within all humans. I think Locke advocates for a sovereign with limited powers to impose on
arguments against him. Locke s theory of a sovereign power urges for peace, security and protection
of a person s primary rights which cannot be more unbearable than the state of nature. Should it be the
case that the contractual civil society is as unbearable as the state of nature people would merely revert
out of the sovereign s power back into their own. In Locke s argument this contractual power with a
human sovereign who is capable of faults in my opinion prones the subjects to more abuse. I agree
with Locke s idea on limitations to the powers of a sovereign but disagree to the limitations put on the
people. Locke holds a persistent limitations that the people need to be controlled in order to have a
civil society. I understand this argument but recognize that it is the people

Carbon Dioxide And Its Effect On Earth s World
In today s atmosphere, carbon dioxide (CO2) amounts to 400 parts per million (ppm), but it hasn t
always been that high, or low, depending on what we are comparing it to. It is a trace gas that is vital
to Earth s atmosphere and has been around since the creation of Earth s first atmosphere, which
occurred shortly after the planet s creation. The advent of Earth s second atmosphere happened when
lighter gases such as hydrogen escaped into space or were bound to molecules, leaving gases like
nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other gases that were the product of volcanism to make up the majority
of the atmosphere. This volcanic activity was fueled by gases that came to Earth following the late
heavy bombardment of huge asteroids . Following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leading up to the present, levels of CO2 have fluctuated due to geochemical processes such
suspension of the gas in sediment, silicate rock weathering, and volcanism. Also, human activity plays
a large part in carbon deposition into the atmosphere predominantly through the burning of fossil fuels
and the cultivation of livestock. On a drastically larger time scale the carbon cycle is ever so slightly
reducing atmospheric CO2 , which will ultimately bring the concentration down near zero, causing all
life on the planet to be wiped out. The carbon cycle, including both terrestrial and aquatic processes, is
the foundation under which photosynthesis is possible. Aside from the carbon cycle, CO2 is a key
element in many other natural processes and phenomena such as the Greenhouse Effect and Global
Warming . After the advent of the second atmosphere, the atmosphere had ~100 times as much gas as
the current atmosphere , which contained a large amount of CO2 which is believed to have kept the
Earth from freezing over. Over the next few billion years the water vapor condensed to form oceans
and rain that started to absorb CO2. Eventually 50% of the carbon in the atmosphere would end up
suspended in the ocean. This caused ocean acidification, which is the decrease in the pH level of the
ocean. Plate tectonics played a large role in the gradual evolution of the atmosphere by transferring
carbon dioxide to and from large

Literature Review On Speech Recognition System
II. LITERATURE SURVEY
Review of literature on speech recognition systems authentically demands consideration towards the
finding of Alexander Graham Bell regarding the method of converting sound waves into electrical
impulses and the first speech recognition system developed by Davis et al. [6] for finding telephone
superiority digits spoken at normal speech rate. This attempt for automatic speech recognition was
mainly centered on the edifice of an electronic circuit for discovering ten digits of telephone
superiority. Spoken words were examined to obtain a 2 D plot of formant 1 vs. formant 2. A circuit is
developed for finding the greatest correlation coefficient among a set of novel incoming data for
pattern matching. These features are grouped into feature vectors that serve the purpose of reducing
dimensionality and redundancy in the input to the speaker recognition system. An indication circuit
was created to exhibit the already discovered spoken digit. The proposed approach lays stress on
recognizing speech sounds and providing appropriate labels to these sounds. Various approaches and
types of speech recognition systems came into existence in last five decades gradually. This evolution
has led to a remarkable impact on the development of speech recognition systems for various
languages worldwide. The exact nature of the feature set depends on what part of a speech signal the
features are expected to represent and thus what type of information is to be extracted. In

situation. It is common human nature to try and keep what one has achieved. But with this much at

no doubt that that members of this group also influence government policy. Most political parties need

The nature and functions of public heritage facilities as part of Australia s National Estate are first
explained. Next, because of their nature and functions, it is shown why public heritage facilities are
public goods. The economic theory of public goods is used to justify why some goods should be
provided by governments and funded from taxation and others on a commercial basis by business
firms. The theory is based on the existence of certain types of externalities in markets. Whether public
heritage facilities are assets or liabilities and a part of the government s financial position is assessed
against the SAC4 (1992) concepts of assets and liabilities. It is shown that they do not satisfy the
concepts because of their public goods nature. The proposal is then advanced that public heritage
facilities should be regarded as assets of the nation which are managed by government as a trustee for
the benefit of society; and that, as trust assets, they should be accounted for separately from
administrative assets of government. Finally, the types of information required for their good
management is explained and it is shown that full accrual accounting information designed for
commercial firms is not appropriate for the management of public heritage facilities. II. Nature of

Life In A Tide Pool Research Paper
Ocean water is always moving, and gravity from the sun and the moon pulling on the waters of the
ocean causes what s called tides. Each day there are two high tides, when the water moves higher onto
the beach, and two low tides, when the water moves further away from the beach back out toward the
main body of water. A tidepool is a pool of water left behind by the ocean tides. Oysters, seabirds, blue
crabs, and cordgrass can all live in a tidepool. Let s explore the tidepool habitat.
When high tides come up onto the beach, the water brings animals and plants with it. Tide pools are
formed when low tide takes the water back out toward the sea, and some water gets trapped and left
behind. Things like rocks and low spots, like shallow holes, can keep the water from leaving the beach
area. Plants and animals can make a tidepool their home, or habitat. A habitat is the environment in
which plants and animals live.
Plants and animals in a tidepool habitat live in an aquatic habitat, or water environment. Life in a tide
pool is not easy. Although high tide brings into the tide pool more fresh seawater, animals, and plants,
the waves are very powerful. Also, once low tide happens again, the tide pool begins ... Show more

The Second And Final Component Of The Flavian Dynasty
The third and final component of the Flavian dynasty is Caesar Domitianus Augustus, the self
proclaimed God and ruthless dictator who reigned from AD 81 to 96. Domitian is the youngest son of
the emperor Vespasian and Flavia Domitilla. He was the less favored son of Vespasian, his father
valued his heir to the thrown and Domitian s older brother, Titus. Domitian s youth was largely spent
living in the shadows of Titus. As a child Domitian lived on rural land that his father acquired,
spending most of his time in his home on Pomegranate Street, which was later turned into a temple of
the Flavian family. Domitian spent a degraded childhood consisting of struggles with poverty and
infamy. He became accustomed to rural life as a child and when he fled from Rome whenever possible
in order to sulk in isolation and stab fireflies. After the death of Vitellius when he was fighting a war
up against Vespasian, Domitian gained the title as Ceaser. However, Domitian only held the name as
Ceaser, he appointed a colleague to handle all Judicial decisions. In order for Domitian to gain a
military reputation that would outshine his brother Titus, he devised a pointless expedition from Gaul
to Germany, which was dismissed by his father s friends. As a result, Domitian was reprimanded and
failed at gaining a good military reputation. Domitian constantly turned to the idea of competition in
order to gain power. An example of this is shown when Domitian wanted to offer soldiers double

Essay On Substance Use Disorders
Transitional Housing for Offenders with Substance Use Disorders: An Intervention Project Substance
Use Disorder (SUD) and criminal activity are often interconnected and intrinsically linked. It is a
relevant and pressing issue associated with continued use, as well as inflated recidivism rates for this
population. It has been found that over half of all inmates at county, state, and federal sentencing
levels meet criteria for substance use disorders, as well as having served at least 3 total correctional
sentences during their lifetime (Mumola Karberg, as cited in Pettus Davis, Howard, Roberts Lewis,
Scheyett, 2011). Along with experiencing incarceration and forms of institutionalization, this

According a study published by the Council of State Governments Justice Center (2014), the
recidivism rates for offenders in Pennsylvania had a recidivism rate of 40.8 percent in 2013,
accounting for a 3 year period following inmates releases in 2010. While this statistic highlights a
lowering in recidivism, it still reflects that 4 out of 10 inmates in the state of Pennsylvania will return
to incarceration. For offenders with SUD, the stakes are even higher, particularly returning to freedom
after a period of clean time in jail. Overdoses from illegal drugs, especially opiates, are exponentially
growing. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA, 2017) cited that there have been over 50,000
overdose deaths in the year 2015, with over 30,000 coming from opiate drugs. Specifically, to
Pennsylvania, the Center for Disease Control (CDC, 2016) ranked Pennsylvania has having the 3rd
highest total amount of overdose deaths in the country. These statistics not only cite this populations
vulnerability to return to incarceration, but also the risks to their health and well being if not treated
for their SUD once released from jail or prison. Since the participants in this program have already
been identified and diagnosed with SUD, this program would be an intervention program. Eriksson,
Falch, Lisznyai, and Ritook (2003) stated that, intervening means becoming involved in a course of

Michael Crichton s Jurassic Park

Title of book: Jurassic Park Author: Michael Crichton

The point of view in this novel was the third person point of view. I believe the author chose this point
of view so he could tell everybody s story and not have to stick with one single storyline of one person

I relate to Dr. Alan Grant the most in the story because he appears to be a very grounded character,
regardless of his position with his intellectual superiority or even if he s being chased by dinosaurs, he
seems to stay humble for the most part and I feel like that s a value that I would like to have just like
this character and is why I can relate to him.
4.
The story of Jurassic Park begins when a handful of people get mauled by what appears to be a

Importance Of Finance As A Decision Making Tool Within...
The following report will justify the use and importance of finance as a decision making tool within
organisational contexts. In addition, an application of basic financial techniques will be present in
order to analyse the performance of an organisation in 2012 to their performance in 2013.
2.0 Justification of finance as a decision making tool
Within organisations, the justification of finance in regards to a decision making tool is critical.
2.1Double Entry Bookkeeping
Within an organisation, bookkeeping is simply a form of recording financial transactions. Dyson
(2007)asserts bookkeeping is critical, postulating bookkeeping may be regarded as the foundation on

The two aspects are acknowledged as debits and credits. Mott (2007)
2.11 Single Entry Bookkeeping
Alternatively, organisations not using double entry bookkeeping will use single entry bookkeeping.
Single entry differs from double entry by not following the dual aspect rule, with Hanif (2013)stating
transactions are not recorded in their two fold aspects . There are limitations of single entry
bookkeeping in comparison to double entry bookkeeping. Hanif (2013) Fleay et al (2011) Ahmed
(2008) Mukherjee and Hanif (2006)postulate that due to single entry bookkeeping not acknowledging
nominal accounts, this results in the trading and profit and loss account cannot be prepared .
Additionally, single entry bookkeeping does not have set rules that double entry bookkeeping has,
resulting in potential confusion. Additionally, employers integrating double entry bookkeeping into
their business in comparison to single entry are able to make better decisions, signifying the critical
importance of double entry bookkeeping, in regards to benefiting employers, guiding them to make
better, informed decisions.
2.2 Trial Balance
Kimuda (2008)defines trial balance as a schedule of balance, both credit and debit, extracted from the

Love Medicine By Louise Erdrich Summary
Tracks and Love Medicine, both by Louise Erdrich, are only fragments of a much larger collection of
Erdrich s Native American works. Both pieces of literature are set in the early to mid twentieth
century and revolve around difficulties the Native American people go through in their struggle of
preserving their culture and ways of life. Native American literature invokes a taste of modern
influence alongside traditional Indian mythology to truly thicken a plot. Ancestral values are evident
throughout this specific type of literature as well as the idea of balance within the world to create a
true native atmosphere. Furthermore, there are major themes within this type of literature including
Christian influence, family, and reservations. These all tie into the life of a Native American. Each
major work explores the world of Native Americans through its narration, characters, and the overall
plot. To begin, the narration of the novels is one of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

setting though ties into the overall structure of the novels. The jumping around gives depth and history
that adds to the reader s experience. Mythology is then another differing factor. Mythology and lore
are used all throughout Tracks. The main plot and characters focus around Lake Matchimanito that is
said to hold a deadly monster. It was told simply to scare children but after men turn up dead, it s
taken too seriously within the Native American community. Love Medicine doesn t include that big of

Emily Bronte s dramatic novel, Wuthering Heights, is a compelling look into the human nature of the
individual persona. Most of the novel could be used as an analysis of contrasts, the traits and
personalities that form in the environment of little rules found crafted in the novel are each as unique
as they are distinctive in how they represent themselves. Using the juxtaposition inherent in characters
personalities, such as Heathcliff and Edgar, and the differences presented by settings of both
Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, Bronte submits us to the extreme conflicts and emotions
that brood and grow with such polar characters. It s in the polarity itself that the novel finds its power,
using opposites of setting, personality, and traditional conventions Emily Bronte argues that humans

Discuss Milton’s presentation of Satan in Paradise Lost...
Discuss Milton s presentation of Satan in Paradise Lost
There has been considerable critical interest in the figure of Satan in Paradise Lost, and in the
possibility that he may be the true hero of the epic poem. The opening of the poem finds Milton in a
tough spot: writing an epic poem without an epic hero in sight. In order to achieve a rationally
balanced poem, he wants to let the first half rise from Hell through Chaos and towards Heaven,
thereby balancing the fall of humankind in the following Garden scenes. Since Satan is the only point
of view
(other than God above) that witnesses all of these early scenes, he must be transformed into the hero
for the first few books. Besides allowing Milton to add new scenes to the story ... Show more content

For example in Book I line 118, Satan speaks of having learned from experience, and from profiting
from that experience in future actions. We are accustomed to this
Period Pieces Imran Hussain process in our lives, but we may easily fail to see that Satan s experience
and his capacity to learn from it is intimately linked with his fallen state.
Satan seems to be like us because he demonstrates aspects of being fallen, as humans do.
Another characteristic of Satan which is particularly evident in the opening two books of the poem is
his desire to rouse his fallen troops through flattery, adulation and by painting for them a more
positive picture of what they have just experienced than is strictly true. S.A.J. Bradley (1982: P.12) in
his introduction to his translation of Genesis B says of the relationship between Genesis B and

Synthetic Biology Therapies And Treatment Of Infectious...
To begin, synbio technology is becoming a necessity in the biomedicine and pharmaceutical industry.
Synthetic biology therapies has been developed for the treatment of infectious diseases and cancer, as
well as approaches in vaccine development (Ruder et al., 2011). As Ruder et al. (2011) have
discovered, effective synthetic biology therapies can been rationally designed and constructed to alter
mechanisms underlying disease and related biological processes. In the process of developing
synthetic biology for prevention of infection, bacteriophages have been manipulated to attack bacterial
strains by disrupting antibiotic defense mechanisms. The development of these synthetic biology
therapies is essential in preventing widespread of diseases which may be unstoppable using other
means. In the case of cancer treatment, synthetic biology plays an even more important role. Despite
the success of modern cancer therapies, the major therapeutic interventions surgery, radiation and
chemotherapy still causes considerable damage to healthy tissues in cancer patients. In this aspect,
synthetic biology is no longer merely an alternative, but more of a necessity as we need new cancer
treatments that precisely distinguish between diseases and healthy cells (Ruder et al., 2011). With
synthetic biology, synbiologists are able to engineer bacteria to target and invade only cancer cells,
programming the invasion to occur only in specific vivo conditions, as well as engineering bacteria

Loyalty In Macbeth
The Tragedy of Macbeth is a play by the famous playwright, William Shakespeare. William
Shakespeare s plays are known for his character s dramatic aspects and how they are portrayed in the
play towards the reader or onlooker. Macbeth illustrates importance of Kingship and Natural Order. In
Macbeth the notion of honor is of one s word and loyalty to one s superior, in this case the king, King
Duncan. Despite of this, Macbeth displays defective relationships that loyalty is essential to the
relationship. By killing his comrade and friend, Banquo, Macbeth shows that he is untrustworthy and
his egocentric mind. By killing his king and relative, Duncan, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth reveal their
ambitiousness toward the hierarchy. Upon hearing the report of Macbeth becoming the Thane of
Cawdor and the prophecy that he will become king, Lady Macbeth prays to the spirits, ...Come, you

Atherosclerosis Risk
Risk factors for heart disease cause problems because inevitably, they lead to atherosclerosis.
Atherosclerosis is the deposition of plaques of fatty material on the inner walls of the arteries ( What
Is Cardiovascular Disease? 2014). It develops for years without causing symptoms and it can happen
in any part of the body. Around the heart, it is known as coronary artery disease because coronary
arteries feed the heart muscle itself. Coronary heart disease symptoms include angina (dull/heavy
sharp chest pain or discomfort), or pain in neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen or back. All of these
symptoms and risks of cardiovascular disease may be the result of high cholesterol. Cholesterol is the
macromolecule (fat/lipid) in our blood. Our bodies create all the cholesterol our cells need, but most
of the time we get cholesterol from the foods that we eat as well. ... Show more content on

The buildup of plaque will narrow the arteries; this makes it impossible for blood to travel through the
vessels properly. This eventually leads to dangerous blood clots and heart attacks. Additionally, many
things can affect a person s cholesterol level. This includes the foods being eaten, being overweight,
being inactive, age, and even family history. Cholesterol levels begin to rise after the age of twenty
(Pagano, 2009). By being overweight and not keeping active, an individual may lower their HDL
(good cholesterol). HDL is good cholesterol and is linked to lowering the risk of heart disease. It helps
move cholesterol out of the body. HDL achieves this by binding with cholesterol in the bloodstream
and carrying it back to the liver for disposal. LDL is bad cholesterol and is the type to raise the risk of
a heart disease. It carries mostly fat and only a small amount of protein from the liver to other parts of

The Debate Of The Tech Debate
MP 1.1 Rough Draft
The tech debate seems to never have a victor because there seems to be unending points of view and
evidence to support both sides. However, what seems to be true of those who support technology and
its benefits is they each have something different to say about its positivity. Through Morozov we see
the critiques of Carr and how the best way to view technology criticism is to do it in the perspective of
the evolution of tech, which gives us a broader understanding. Through Crystal we see the benefits of
technology and how it is far from causing a downfall of the english language. Lastly, Genevieve Bell,
an anthropologist and current Vice President at Intel discusses how technology is a way to spread
stories and give us a background into other people s lives. Although technology has considerably
changed multiple aspects of our society, it is not a detrimental piece of humanity, but rather something
that has changed the way humans interact and still further our understanding of each other. By
showing the multiple positions of Morozov, Crystal and a new source by Bell we can see that tech s
impact should be viewed through the multiple lenses, one of historical context, one of varying
social/human context and one of its sharing of ideas, all of which show the benefits of tech.
One of the lenses that gives us the most perspective about the technology debate is a historical one.
When looking at the tech debate in a historical context, it seems to be true that

Statement of Purpose
International trade has helped business in capturing market potential and growing internationally.
Today no country operates its trade independently and this reason itself has reduced importance of
geographical boundaries and made trade associations like WTO, IMF etc. more significant. The
duration of my Bachelors in Commerce has cultivated deep interest in me towards understanding
dynamics of International trade and using it as a tool to add value to business.
Engaging in managerial activities and having an upper edge in statistical and accounting computations
since my high school evolved my interest in the field of Commerce. This led me to pursue Bachelor of
Commerce as my undergraduate level of study. With subjects like Management accounting, Auditing,
Fundamentals of Financial management and many more (related to business) in my undergraduate
curriculum, I developed a better understanding for this course. With my dedication and hard work, I
have always maintained around 1st class throughout all semester with 6.08 overall CGPA. I also got to
learn the concepts of Human Resource Management, Marketing management, Production

Inside Job Is A Documentary That Covers The 2008 Financial...
Inside Job is a documentary that covers the 2008 financial crisis. The first part of the documentary
focuses on what led to the financial meltdown. In the 1980 s the finance industry exploded after
investment banks went public, leading these firms to have an excess of stockholder s money. Then the
president at the time, Ronald Reagan, began a 30 year period of financial deregulation. Reagan
deregulated savings and loan companies which allowed them to make risky investments with
depositor s money, which led to taxpayers paying $124 billion dollars when they inevitably failed.
Executives in these companies were also stealing money from their depositors. Another problem was
that many of the executives from these investment banks ended up being put into powerful positions
in the government where they pushed for even more deregulation. In the late 90 s the internet bubble
burst after investment banks knowingly promoted internet companies they knew would fail. A
financial innovation known as derivatives became a $50 trillion business yet they were completely
unregulated. When there was an attempt to regulate this market, it was almost immediately shut down
and a law was put in place banning all regulation of derivatives. Under these new rules it created a
new securitization food chain. Investment banks were creating complex derivatives called
collateralized debt obligation and selling these debts to investors. Then these CDO s were rated by
rating agencies, with most of them

Valentine And Coincide In Ender s Game
Sigmund Freud is often referred to as the father of psychoanalysis; he was the first to ask and pursue
several groundbreaking questions. However, despite any proclaimed parentage, the field has
proceeded through multiple generations since the death of Freud himself, and the once influential
name has now become a chapter in a psychology textbook, a stepping stone on the way to the names
that are important now. True enough, certain speculations on Freud s part the Oedipus complex, his
opinions on the healing properties of cocaine do seem dubious when examined through a modern lens.
Freud is often discarded because of this, especially in professional settings, but Freud s conjectures

While the distance separates them, the specific dynamics of their relationship fade into the

Peter would likely treat him just the same, because Peter doesn t change. At the conclusion of the
novel, Valentine takes it into her own hands to ensure that Ender never returns to earth, knowing that
Peter, now gaining power in politics, would use and manipulate his famous younger brother to give
himself further sway. This remains true because the id... does not change with time which has also
proven true for Peter in other instances (McLeod). With Ender gone, the Wiggin family moves away,
much to Valentine s chagrin. She wonders how Ender is meant to come home, to find them, when
home is no longer where it once was. Simultaneously, Valentine knows exactly why the family has
moved: It was for Peter, so that living among trees and small animals, so that nature, in as raw a form
as Mother and Father could conceive of it, might have a softening influence on their strange and
frightening son (Card 151). The Wiggin parents had hoped that the calm serenity of nature might find
root in Peter, and as far as they are concerned, it did. Upon moving, Peter seems better than before. He
does well in school; he does not torment his classmates.

The Old Fairy Tale By Charles Perrault And The 1990s Movie...
In everyday life, people are given roles to play; doctors are to heal the wounded, officers are to
maintain order in society and teachers are to guide the youth onto the right path. In the past, each
gender had to behave a certain way, the men were the strong worker of the home, whom provided the
income for the family, while as the women were the gentle angels at home, whom took care of the
children and housework. If the women were to defy these roles, they would be look down upon and be
treated worse. However, time has change, these roles are no longer black and white; there is no longer
a certain way a woman is supposed to act, modern women are depicted differently from the way they
were in the past, this is due to the new norms in society that has been molded throughout time. This
can be proven with the old fairy tale Cinderella by Charles Perrault and the 1990s movie Pretty
Woman directed by Garry Marshall.
To begin with, these two story and film both revolved around a woman who goes through many
challenges and then found the love of their life, but the way they are depicted as are completely
different from each other. Perrault s tale of Cinderella is set during the olden time. The title named
protagonist of this story is portrayed as a pretty young woman whose daily life consisted of
housework and obeying her stepmother whom was quite wicked and haughty (Perrault 16). Cinderella
on the other hand was a woman of parallel goodness and sweetness (Perrault 16) who

Historical Conflict Between Palestine And Israel
On the 13th of September, 1993, a seldom moment between Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin and
Palestinian Liberation Organisation Chairman, Yasser Arafat marked a context in history. The Oslo
Peace Accords had been written and signed by the two leaders the newly found peace, marked with a
single handshake. Unfortunately, this ideal of a non violent and diplomatic future did not prevail. The
peace process between Palestine and Israel failed due to the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin,
subsequent to the handshake signalling the agreement. The continuity of this conflict initially caused
by sovereignty and ultranationalism, has resulted in a current inability for both Palestine and Israel to
come to terms with an agreeable, nonviolent, two state solution. The historical conflict between
Palestine and Israel, the significance of the handshake, reactions, Rabin s assassination and effects, as
well as the current situation between Palestine and Israel will be discussed in order to account for the
failure of the peace process.
Firstly, the historical conflict between Palestine and Israel is both complex and extensive. In 1882, the
Zionist movement sought to identify a place whereby Jewish people could create settlements. To the
Jewish, Palestine appeared as the most optimal and logical place as it holds the site of Jewish Origin
Jerusalem. During the diaspora of World War 2, an increase in Jewish migration to Palestine created

The Animal Protection Movement Of The Nineteenth Century
The animal protection movement of the nineteenth century was based on the concept of animal
welfare; that is, the moral obligations required by human society. Such morals stem from natural
theology, specifically, the Book of Nature, which proposes that humans, the superior beings, should
hold dominion over animals, but have mercy, care, and stewardship toward them. From these ideas,
the animal protection movement was formed with two responsibilities in mind: first, to address
traditional moral concerns, such that an individual pledges to do no harm to animals; and second, to
enforce the prevention of cruelty to animals inflicted by others (Fan, 10/28).
The first anti cruelty bill was introduced to Parliament in England in 1800 in an attempt to end bull
baiting; this initial legislation was the start of a long effort. In 1822, Colonel Richard Martin
succeeded in passing a bill to prevent cruelty to livestock (later amended to include ... Show more

He illiterates this claim by a thought experiment involving torture. In this hypothetical Williams tells
individuals that they will be tortured at noon the following day. Naturally everyone feels uneasy about
this. In order to easy this feeling, Williams tells those waiting to be tortured that before noon the
individual s entire memory will be erased. Williams argues that if memory is necessary for personal
identity, this news should put any feelings of uneasiness to rest. When asked, the individual still
reports feeling uneasy about the torture. Williams repeats this process altering the scenario from
amnesia to exchanging the memories of the individual who will be torured for those of another. Again
when prompted the individual still feels uneasy about the torture. Williams claims that this is proof of
the body being just as necessary as the memories. However, this is not a fair analysis of the situation.
When the individual is told of their torture as a matter of fact, it is a natural reaction to feel uneasy.
This is similar to feeling anxious about a public speaking event that unexpectedly gets canceled right
before taking the stage. There will remain a sense of anxiety until the event causing that feeling is
gone. Likewise, the feeling of unrest will remain present until the moment of memory loss. This
therefore fails as an example to increase the importance of the body in regards to

The Social Construction of Whiteness and Race in America
The Social Construction of Whiteness and Race in America A comment was made in a blog post early
on in the year about whiteness in American that bugged me. It s a topic that came up a few times
throughout the semester in and outside of class. Granted, this topic is based on a single blog post but a
collection of comment and statements that were made on specific blogs and during class sessions. This
topic I fin extremely important mainly because I felt as though there was some confusion around the
topic being white. Understandably if you re white in America I think it s easy to forget exactly how
privileged you are. Nonetheless, it forced me to want to talk about white privilege in America, explain
the meaning of paradox of privilege , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tim wise uses pronouns such as we and our many times in speeches. He uses these pronouns to
describe people in general. He is describing essentially every person. He is giving a message and
making a statement out to people all over the world when using the many pronouns that he does, by
fighting for a society in which those privileges will no longer exist and we will be able to stand on our
own two feet without the artificial crutch of racial advantage to prop us up. We need to commit to
fighting for racial equity and challenging injustice at every turn, not only because it harms others, but
because it diminishes us as well (even as it pays dividends), and because it squanders the promise of
fairness and equity to which we claim to adhere as Americans. (Page 18 Paragraphs 18) From this
quote it is clear that Wise is not just singling one group of people out he is talking to everyone (mainly
Americans). It is only when you step back, stop looking at the wires one by one, microscopically, and
take a macroscopic view of the whole cage, that you can see why the bird does not go anywhere; and
then you will see it in a moment. It will require no great subtlety of mental powers. It is perfectly
obvious that the bird is surrounded by a network of systematically related barriers, no one of which
would be the least hindrance to its flight, but which, by their relations to each other, are as confining
as the solid walls

Rules Of Mate Choice Essay
Rules of attraction: Biological and evolutionary reasons of mate choice ABSTRACT Within the past
decade we have witnessed a series of new developments and an enormously growing interest in the
understanding of human behaviour, especially when it comes to the basic principles of human mate
choice. Mate preference is something which is often considered a very individual choice and appears
to be influenced by cultural and economic norms. However, on the basis of numerous research works,
it is a today s acceptation that attractiveness represents a signal resulting from sexual selection.
Although we have different preference for facial expression, body shape or height, recent findings
suggest that mate preferences are mainly cued on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the last few years a lot of research has been performed in the area of mate choice. This review
highlights which kinds of signals affect our choice for a partner, discusses the most commonly known
principles of beauty and considers the role of cultural differences and the beauty ideal propagated by
the media. 2. ON THE TRACES OF BEAUTY: JDUGMENT AND BENEFIT OF ATTRACTIVE
FACES In our daily life we are constantly confronted with beauty and only to few other things we
dedicate so much attention as to our appearance. Within today s multimedia society especially the
evaluation of faces is of outstanding importance. An attractive face clearly finds more approval: a
beautiful face activates the reward centre in the opposite s brain and we generally link positive human
characteristics with an attractive face (Rhodes, 2006). Systematic research in this area started at the
beginning of the 1970 s. Dion, Berscheid and Walster, who were pioneers in this field, determined the
relationship between positive characteristics and attractive faces and came up with the proposal what
is beautiful is good (Dion, Berscheid, Walster; 1972). Today it is generally accepted that attractive
persons have a better and easier life than less attractive ones. Thus, further investigations into this
topic showed that attractive children get better grades or receive less punishment than fellow peers
who are less attractive. Even in court cases it seems

Letter To Master Chapuy s Esteemed Ambassador
Esteemed Ambassador, Eustace Chapuys, It is with great displeasure that I write you this letter, for I
fear the fate which may befall England, as it seems many have lost their faith in God. It is my
understanding that you have been tasked to defend the validity of her majesty s marriage to King
Henry VIII due to your skillfulness in the art of law. I admire your determination, but your work will
be futile in preventing the divorce from occurring, England s parliament, and even members of
Convocation seem to have conveniently forgotten their loyalty to God. Those who have not, fear that
dissenting the proposals put forth by Master Cromwell will result in treason, and even in some cases
their own demise. I myself am among those, and that is why I write to you so desperately. Catherine of
Aragon is in great peril, for many in parliament wish to seek out her end, for unjust claims of causing
grievous harm upon this nation. Her treatment will only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, I am a man of peace and abhor the very idea of war, which has plague this Earth for far too long,
but it seems now, that war is the only way to prevent the destruction of this land. England is in no
place to fight a war; we have no standing military; we have no substantial navy to defend ourselves
with. It would not only be beneficial to his imperial highness, but also could be done with relative ease
since there are many within this country who will support your cause as well. These true Catholics
will rise to the occasion and aid you in your efforts. If you do heed my words, I implore you to seek
out the French to aid you in your efforts, for Anne Boleyn is closely allied with them, and the enemy
of our enemy is always a friend, despite any misgivings you may have towards them. Furthermore, if
war breaks out, France will surely stay embroiled for much longer than the Holy Roman Empire,

A Human s Five Senses
A human s five senses are normally separate from each other, with no one particular sense having an
exact and direct relation to another. This statement is true for most, but not for everyone. There are
individuals who experience a condition called synesthesia, in which two or more of the five senses can
possibly trigger one another. Oftentimes people with this condition do not realize that their perception
differs from most people around them. Two people, one with this condition and one without it, could
see or feel everything entirely differently, a fascinating phenomenon that scientists have begun to
study. After much analysis done by the scientists, three distinguishing types have been identified to
most commonly affect specific senses. One of the three most common types of synesthesia that affects
a human s perception is called grapheme to color. This type describes the process of sensing or
physically seeing a projected color when a letter is shown or thought of. Interestingly enough, due to
this unchanging perspective, a synesthete may feel unsettled if a letter is in a color that does not match
the color they see for that specific letter. Seeing letters in accordance to color may help a student learn
better in terms of being able to name letters and remember their colors. According to World Book
Advanced, synesthesia experiments: ...have involved synesthetes in whom color sensations are
triggered by letters of the alphabet (www.worldbookonline.com). Scientific

Research Paper On The Baroque Era
The Baroque Period Lasting from the mid 1600s to the mid 1700s, the Baroque period ushered in new
styles of art and music. Music and art during that time exhibited a flowery, emotional feel. While the
music may seem well behaved, to the people living in that period it was music gone wild. The notes
noodled up and down all over the sheet, such music and never been attempted before. Composers
experimented with new styles and structures breaking many former rules of music. Prominent during
this era was German born composer George Frideric Handel. Handel s life exhibits uniqueness at
every turn. A German who trained in Italy, Handel is one of the most famous English composers ever.
At the age of 18 George left his barber surgeon dad and the rest

There s A Better Choice
Cars are one of those materialistic objects that people crave, but many people know the physical harm
that cars can do. They are gas guzzling and air polluting, and, yet they remain one of Americans
favorite hobbies. Since cars were invented, they have caught the eye of Americans and people in the
world. People always cared for their cars as much as anything around they have in the house. It would
make sense that because of this, they would want the best for their car. The battle between
conventional oil and synthetic oil has been going on for a long time. People often wonder which is
better, which is more efficient, and which is environmentally friendlier to the earth. All these questions
can be answered. Synthetic oil is the better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newman, in this particular article, brings up another factor, volatility. Volatility is changing from a
liquid or solid to a vapor of some kind. Larry West (West interview Newman about synthetics) records
Newman saying that synthetics have a lower volatility and therefore do not boil off or vaporize as
quickly as petroleum(conventional) motor oils (West). This can mean a number of things but for the
consumer, that means that a car is less prone to overheating, and eventually, this will save the average
driver more money (West). Every now and then people will throw in the negative outlook on things.
Oppositions arise, such as, Synthetic are more than three times the cost of petroleum oils (West) or
that vegetable products are better than both. For the first reason alone there will probably always be
slightly more people with conventional. People will look at lower prices most of the time instead of
the quality, but it does not mean that it is the best choice. It is true that in some cases vegetable
products beat both oils in competition. This could be considered somewhat intriguing, but eliminating
a reliable food source for oil is not a good decision. As West says, Mass production or such bio based
oils would probably not be feasible (West). Even with all of the controversy, one that will consistently
battle, synthetic and conventional oils. The environment is

The Importance Of Common Core Standards
Over the last few years, there has been a huge shift is classroom dynamics and teaching with the
introduction of Common Core standards. The new standards are requiring students to think in different
ways than they are accustomed to and teachers are finding themselves teaching using entirely different
teaching methods, all while trying to maintain a balance of more effective practices and what teachers
are most comfortable with. In an attempt to keep aligned with the new standards, elementary school
across America are in the process of trying various new strategies that conflict with the beliefs of
many teachers. The question in focus in relation to the new standards and teaching practices is how

Link Between Number Sense and Counting This synthesis paper is examining the direct link between
counting and building student s number sense. The study conducted by Baccaglini Frank and Maracci
(2015), number sense as being vital to learning formal mathematics and stated there was a positive
correlation between using fingers for counting and representing numbers has a positive effect on
number sense. Students need opportunities to practice counting and establish foundational skills in
number sense in order to be successful during their mathematical futures. It was determined that
touching, moving, and seeing representations are essential components of the mathematical thinking
process (Baccaglini Frank Maracci, 2015). Similarly, the Jordan study proved a direct link between
counting and focusing on strengthening number sense and increased reasoning and mathematical
understanding across different forms of assessment. Most notably, the number sense group my strong

Causes Of Good And Evil In Confessions
For years, people have continuously tried to figure out the causes of good and evil without settling on
just one theory. And it makes sense as to why people would want to find the root of all good and evil,
given that throughout mankind, good and evil has been prominent with figures representing both
sides. From Hitler to Mother Teresa, we see two very distinct sides of the spectrum. There s Hitler
who is responsible for the death of millions of Jewish people. Led by racism, he was a ruthless killer
and was also was the main cause for WWII. However, on the other side, there s Mother Teresa, a nun
and missionary who spent her whole life to helping the disadvantaged. Plato, Augustine, and The
Manicheans were just three of many philosophers who came up with ideas regarding good and evil. In
Phaedrus, Plato talks about the idea of a dual natured soul but Augustine, in Confessions, challenges
that idea; Plato also describes the qualities of evil which Augustine transforms to fit in with his own
beliefs in Christianity. The Manicheans talk about the journey from good to evil being led by external
forces and Augustine challenges that idea, as he takes on a more internal viewpoint. Star Wars IV: A
New Hope, is a movie which has parts of each of the three ideas, however the one I found to be more
prominent in this particular episode was the Platonian philosophy, represented by the character Han
Solo.
When it comes to the idea of the dual natured soul, Plato believes that humans have

America welcomes everyone. But, only the natives are welcome into society. Thomas Paine s Rights of Men is mistaken in thinking America is a flawless country with no societal problems due to skin color or social background. Paine said The poor are not oppressed, the rich are not privileged, The poor have always been oppressed and the rich always have an upper hand. If you have enough money or your family name has enough pull then you can get anything you want. Money means power and power is the only thing anyone wants in America. To achieve the American dream you have to be ruthless. If you are poor you have t work ten times harder than the rich white guy. Nurturing Natures By Graham Music In Graham Music s book, Nurturing Natures: Attachment and Children s Emotional, Sociocultural, and Brain Development, Music explains to the reader how poverty, neglect and trauma can be associated with PTSD, posttraumatic stress disorder, and how PTSD can develop into long term psychiatric and even physical medical conditions. Neglect of a child can affect them later in life and affect their learning, social, mobile and regular everyday functions and activities. Music also shows the reader how early childhood experiences can impact attachment between mother and child. In addition, while neglect can occur at anytime during development, children are most vulnerable because of their reliance on adults in order to survive. He shows the reader ... The most damaging form of trauma is interpersonal trauma which is far more likely than other traumas, such as car accidents, to give rise to posttraumatic symptoms (Van der Kolk, 1989). Maybe the worst form of interpersonal trauma is that inflicted by a child s carers. When a carer turns abuser, then the world feels unsafe and unpredictable. Serious abuse often leads to fear, helplessness, shame... (Music 206) Music shows how early trauma and neglect can impair a child s education, social activities and life. Children need constant parental monitoring in order to thrive. Without constant redirection, nurturing and advice especially in vulnerable communities like impoverished homes and poor neighborhoods external negative influences can neglect can set in triggering PTSD like symptoms. In short, without parental monitoring, children do not learn the necessities in order to live life to the fullest. Music explains PTSD to include intrusive thoughts and flashbacks. Interpersonal trauma refers to injuries and neglect that can be sustained within families. Children are negatively impacted by neglect because if the parent is unable to meet the child s basic and psychological needs, then not only is the child at risk, but the parent is demonstrating irresponsible behavior. This, in turn, becomes the normalcy for these children and they bring these irresponsible behaviors into adulthood and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the Nineteenth century, Egypt was ruled by Mehmet Ali and his descendants. Mehmet Ali was a general sent by the Ottoman empire to expel Napoleon Bonaparte from Egypt. Due to the increase pressure on the Ottoman Empire by Russia from the North, Mehmet Ali parted ways and planned to build his own empire with military strength. Since then, the leaders of Egypt have sustain power on owning majority of vast land. The land is used for agriculture that produces revenue to support the army of Mehmet Ali. This land was distributed among the friends and families of the kings who ruled Egypt who strengthen throughout the century. During the late nineteenth century to mid 20 century, the British extend their rule in Egypt. This was strategic for the British because they built the Suez canal which gave them a shorter route to India. Controlling the Suez Canal enabled them to control world trade which made their empire even stronger. However, the British not only controlled the Canal but exploited land. Cotton became the second most extracted product from Egypt that went to the mills in the United Kingdom. • 6. Rebellion In John Locke s The Second Treatise Of Government In John Locke s The Second Treatise of Government he argues that under certain circumstances the people have a right to rebel against powers of authority that assume this influence in unjust ways. The question of the right of rebellion is an interesting dilemma. In a particular society, should the people reserve the right to revolt against the established order? Is this an effective means of restraining a tyrant? Who knows the best course of action for a particular society: the people or the ruler? This essay will investigate and critically asses Locke s argument of the right to rebellion. Locke s justification of the right to rebel is based of the consent of the people being governed which leaves the people only with the power of consensual agreement. I think Locke should more fully develop limitations which take into consideration the rising power of the sovereign s subjects. I agree with Locke on the power of having a contractual agreement with a sovereign possessing humanity which lets the people hold accountability towards someone and helps to point out an innately flawed nature within all humans. I think Locke advocates for a sovereign with limited powers to impose on arguments against him. Locke s theory of a sovereign power urges for peace, security and protection of a person s primary rights which cannot be more unbearable than the state of nature. Should it be the case that the contractual civil society is as unbearable as the state of nature people would merely revert out of the sovereign s power back into their own. In Locke s argument this contractual power with a human sovereign who is capable of faults in my opinion prones the subjects to more abuse. I agree with Locke s idea on limitations to the powers of a sovereign but disagree to the limitations put on the people. Locke holds a persistent limitations that the people need to be controlled in order to have a civil society. I understand this argument but recognize that it is the people ... • 7. Carbon Dioxide And Its Effect On Earth s World In today s atmosphere, carbon dioxide (CO2) amounts to 400 parts per million (ppm), but it hasn t always been that high, or low, depending on what we are comparing it to. It is a trace gas that is vital to Earth s atmosphere and has been around since the creation of Earth s first atmosphere, which occurred shortly after the planet s creation. The advent of Earth s second atmosphere happened when lighter gases such as hydrogen escaped into space or were bound to molecules, leaving gases like nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and other gases that were the product of volcanism to make up the majority of the atmosphere. This volcanic activity was fueled by gases that came to Earth following the late heavy bombardment of huge asteroids . Following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leading up to the present, levels of CO2 have fluctuated due to geochemical processes such suspension of the gas in sediment, silicate rock weathering, and volcanism. Also, human activity plays a large part in carbon deposition into the atmosphere predominantly through the burning of fossil fuels and the cultivation of livestock. On a drastically larger time scale the carbon cycle is ever so slightly reducing atmospheric CO2 , which will ultimately bring the concentration down near zero, causing all life on the planet to be wiped out. The carbon cycle, including both terrestrial and aquatic processes, is the foundation under which photosynthesis is possible. Aside from the carbon cycle, CO2 is a key element in many other natural processes and phenomena such as the Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming . After the advent of the second atmosphere, the atmosphere had ~100 times as much gas as the current atmosphere , which contained a large amount of CO2 which is believed to have kept the Earth from freezing over. Over the next few billion years the water vapor condensed to form oceans and rain that started to absorb CO2. Eventually 50% of the carbon in the atmosphere would end up suspended in the ocean. This caused ocean acidification, which is the decrease in the pH level of the ocean. Plate tectonics played a large role in the gradual evolution of the atmosphere by transferring carbon dioxide to and from large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Literature Review On Speech Recognition System II. LITERATURE SURVEY Review of literature on speech recognition systems authentically demands consideration towards the finding of Alexander Graham Bell regarding the method of converting sound waves into electrical impulses and the first speech recognition system developed by Davis et al. [6] for finding telephone superiority digits spoken at normal speech rate. This attempt for automatic speech recognition was mainly centered on the edifice of an electronic circuit for discovering ten digits of telephone superiority. Spoken words were examined to obtain a 2 D plot of formant 1 vs. formant 2. A circuit is developed for finding the greatest correlation coefficient among a set of novel incoming data for pattern matching. These features are grouped into feature vectors that serve the purpose of reducing dimensionality and redundancy in the input to the speaker recognition system. An indication circuit was created to exhibit the already discovered spoken digit. The proposed approach lays stress on recognizing speech sounds and providing appropriate labels to these sounds. Various approaches and types of speech recognition systems came into existence in last five decades gradually. This evolution has led to a remarkable impact on the development of speech recognition systems for various languages worldwide. The exact nature of the feature set depends on what part of a speech signal the features are expected to represent and thus what type of information is to be extracted. In ... The nature and functions of public heritage facilities as part of Australia s National Estate are first explained. Next, because of their nature and functions, it is shown why public heritage facilities are public goods. The economic theory of public goods is used to justify why some goods should be provided by governments and funded from taxation and others on a commercial basis by business firms. The theory is based on the existence of certain types of externalities in markets. Whether public heritage facilities are assets or liabilities and a part of the government s financial position is assessed against the SAC4 (1992) concepts of assets and liabilities. It is shown that they do not satisfy the concepts because of their public goods nature. The proposal is then advanced that public heritage facilities should be regarded as assets of the nation which are managed by government as a trustee for the benefit of society; and that, as trust assets, they should be accounted for separately from administrative assets of government. Finally, the types of information required for their good management is explained and it is shown that full accrual accounting information designed for commercial firms is not appropriate for the management of public heritage facilities. Each day there are two high tides, when the water moves higher onto the beach, and two low tides, when the water moves further away from the beach back out toward the main body of water. A tidepool is a pool of water left behind by the ocean tides. Oysters, seabirds, blue crabs, and cordgrass can all live in a tidepool. Let s explore the tidepool habitat. When high tides come up onto the beach, the water brings animals and plants with it. Tide pools are formed when low tide takes the water back out toward the sea, and some water gets trapped and left behind. Things like rocks and low spots, like shallow holes, can keep the water from leaving the beach area. Plants and animals can make a tidepool their home, or habitat. A habitat is the environment in which plants and animals live. Plants and animals in a tidepool habitat live in an aquatic habitat, or water environment. Life in a tide pool is not easy. The Second And Final Component Of The Flavian Dynasty The third and final component of the Flavian dynasty is Caesar Domitianus Augustus, the self proclaimed God and ruthless dictator who reigned from AD 81 to 96. Domitian is the youngest son of the emperor Vespasian and Flavia Domitilla. He was the less favored son of Vespasian, his father valued his heir to the thrown and Domitian s older brother, Titus. Domitian s youth was largely spent living in the shadows of Titus. As a child Domitian lived on rural land that his father acquired, spending most of his time in his home on Pomegranate Street, which was later turned into a temple of the Flavian family. Domitian spent a degraded childhood consisting of struggles with poverty and infamy. He became accustomed to rural life as a child and when he fled from Rome whenever possible in order to sulk in isolation and stab fireflies. After the death of Vitellius when he was fighting a war up against Vespasian, Domitian gained the title as Ceaser. However, Domitian only held the name as Ceaser, he appointed a colleague to handle all Judicial decisions. In order for Domitian to gain a military reputation that would outshine his brother Titus, he devised a pointless expedition from Gaul to Germany, which was dismissed by his father s friends. It is a relevant and pressing issue associated with continued use, as well as inflated recidivism rates for this population. It has been found that over half of all inmates at county, state, and federal sentencing levels meet criteria for substance use disorders, as well as having served at least 3 total correctional sentences during their lifetime (Mumola Karberg, as cited in Pettus Davis, Howard, Roberts Lewis, Scheyett, 2011). According a study published by the Council of State Governments Justice Center (2014), the recidivism rates for offenders in Pennsylvania had a recidivism rate of 40.8 percent in 2013, accounting for a 3 year period following inmates releases in 2010. While this statistic highlights a lowering in recidivism, it still reflects that 4 out of 10 inmates in the state of Pennsylvania will return to incarceration. For offenders with SUD, the stakes are even higher, particularly returning to freedom after a period of clean time in jail. Overdoses from illegal drugs, especially opiates, are exponentially growing. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA, 2017) cited that there have been over 50,000 overdose deaths in the year 2015, with over 30,000 coming from opiate drugs. Specifically, to Pennsylvania, the Center for Disease Control (CDC, 2016) ranked Pennsylvania has having the 3rd highest total amount of overdose deaths in the country. These statistics not only cite this populations vulnerability to return to incarceration, but also the risks to their health and well being if not treated for their SUD once released from jail or prison. Since the participants in this program have already been identified and diagnosed with SUD, this program would be an intervention program. I believe the author chose this point of view so he could tell everybody s story and not have to stick with one single storyline of one person s account of what was happening because that would have made the book very confusing to follow with in my opinion. 2. The protagonist in Jurassic Park is Dr. Alan Grant. He s the protagonist because he is the guy I was rooting for when everything was happening and the guy who seems to play the Hero type role during the story once things started to go south. The story of Jurassic Park begins when a handful of people get mauled by what appears to be a dinosaur/raptor type creature, and it turns out that the creature that did the maulings was a part of John Hammonds company and business investment, International Genetic Technologies, which is Hammonds attempt at making a huge profit by having a theme park designed around dinosaurs in their natural habitats. However things go horribly wrong when a computer analyst Dennis Nedry makes a deal with a rival genetic engineering company Biosyn to steal his own employers dinosaur embryos. His master plan starts by shutting off the power to the park to override the security systems but in the end he only ends up releasing the parks attractions, the dinosaurs. So as you could probably guess pure mayhem ensues as the characters attempt to escape the park, and the island it is on. Then the book

There are limitations of single entry bookkeeping in comparison to double entry bookkeeping. Additionally, employers integrating double entry bookkeeping into their business in comparison to single entry are able to make better decisions, signifying the critical importance of double entry bookkeeping, in regards to benefiting employers, guiding them to make better, informed decisions. 2.2 Trial Balance Kimuda (2008)defines trial balance as a schedule of balance, both credit and debit, extracted from the accounts in the ledger . Both pieces of literature are set in the early to mid twentieth century and revolve around difficulties the Native American people go through in their struggle of preserving their culture and ways of life. Native American literature invokes a taste of modern influence alongside traditional Indian mythology to truly thicken a plot. Ancestral values are evident throughout this specific type of literature as well as the idea of balance within the world to create a true native atmosphere. Furthermore, there are major themes within this type of literature including Christian influence, family, and reservations. These all tie into the life of a Native American. Most of the novel could be used as an analysis of contrasts, the traits and personalities that form in the environment of little rules found crafted in the novel are each as unique as they are distinctive in how they represent themselves. Using the juxtaposition inherent in characters personalities, such as Heathcliff and Edgar, and the differences presented by settings of both Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, Bronte submits us to the extreme conflicts and emotions that brood and grow with such polar characters. Discuss Milton s presentation of Satan in Paradise Lost There has been considerable critical interest in the figure of Satan in Paradise Lost, and in the possibility that he may be the true hero of the epic poem. The opening of the poem finds Milton in a tough spot: writing an epic poem without an epic hero in sight. In order to achieve a rationally balanced poem, he wants to let the first half rise from Hell through Chaos and towards Heaven, thereby balancing the fall of humankind in the following Garden scenes. Since Satan is the only point of view (other than God above) that witnesses all of these early scenes, he must be transformed into the hero for the first few books. Satan seems to be like us because he demonstrates aspects of being fallen, as humans do. Another characteristic of Satan which is particularly evident in the opening two books of the poem is his desire to rouse his fallen troops through flattery, adulation and by painting for them a more positive picture of what they have just experienced than is strictly true. Synthetic biology therapies has been developed for the treatment of infectious diseases and cancer, as well as approaches in vaccine development (Ruder et al., 2011). As Ruder et al. (2011) have discovered, effective synthetic biology therapies can been rationally designed and constructed to alter mechanisms underlying disease and related biological processes. In the process of developing synthetic biology for prevention of infection, bacteriophages have been manipulated to attack bacterial strains by disrupting antibiotic defense mechanisms. The development of these synthetic biology therapies is essential in preventing widespread of diseases which may be unstoppable using other means. In the case of cancer treatment, synthetic biology plays an even more important role. Despite the success of modern cancer therapies, the major therapeutic interventions surgery, radiation and chemotherapy still causes considerable damage to healthy tissues in cancer patients. In this aspect, synthetic biology is no longer merely an alternative, but more of a necessity as we need new cancer treatments that precisely distinguish between diseases and healthy cells (Ruder et al., 2011). However, what seems to be true of those who support technology and its benefits is they each have something different to say about its positivity. Through Morozov we see the critiques of Carr and how the best way to view technology criticism is to do it in the perspective of the evolution of tech, which gives us a broader understanding. Through Crystal we see the benefits of technology and how it is far from causing a downfall of the english language. Lastly, Genevieve Bell, an anthropologist and current Vice President at Intel discusses how technology is a way to spread stories and give us a background into other people s lives. Although technology has considerably changed multiple aspects of our society, it is not a detrimental piece of humanity, but rather something that has changed the way humans interact and still further our understanding of each other. By showing the multiple positions of Morozov, Crystal and a new source by Bell we can see that tech s impact should be viewed through the multiple lenses, one of historical context, one of varying social/human context and one of its sharing of ideas, all of which show the benefits of tech. One of the lenses that gives us the most perspective about the technology debate is a historical one. When looking at the tech debate in a historical context, it seems to be true that ... The first part of the documentary focuses on what led to the financial meltdown. In the 1980 s the finance industry exploded after investment banks went public, leading these firms to have an excess of stockholder s money. Then the president at the time, Ronald Reagan, began a 30 year period of financial deregulation. Reagan deregulated savings and loan companies which allowed them to make risky investments with depositor s money, which led to taxpayers paying $124 billion dollars when they inevitably failed. Executives in these companies were also stealing money from their depositors. Another problem was that many of the executives from these investment banks ended up being put into powerful positions in the government where they pushed for even more deregulation. In the late 90 s the internet bubble burst after investment banks knowingly promoted internet companies they knew would fail. A financial innovation known as derivatives became a $50 trillion business yet they were completely unregulated. When there was an attempt to regulate this market, it was almost immediately shut down and a law was put in place banning all regulation of derivatives. In everyday life, people are given roles to play; doctors are to heal the wounded, officers are to maintain order in society and teachers are to guide the youth onto the right path. In the past, each gender had to behave a certain way, the men were the strong worker of the home, whom provided the income for the family, while as the women were the gentle angels at home, whom took care of the children and housework. If the women were to defy these roles, they would be look down upon and be treated worse. However, time has change, these roles are no longer black and white; there is no longer a certain way a woman is supposed to act, modern women are depicted differently from the way they were in the past, this is due to the new norms in society that has been molded throughout time. The Animal Protection Movement Of The Nineteenth Century The animal protection movement of the nineteenth century was based on the concept of animal welfare; that is, the moral obligations required by human society. Such morals stem from natural theology, specifically, the Book of Nature, which proposes that humans, the superior beings, should hold dominion over animals, but have mercy, care, and stewardship toward them. From these ideas, the animal protection movement was formed with two responsibilities in mind: first, to address traditional moral concerns, such that an individual pledges to do no harm to animals; and second, to enforce the prevention of cruelty to animals inflicted by others (Fan, 10/28). The first anti cruelty bill was introduced to Parliament in England in 1800 in an attempt to end bull baiting; this initial legislation was the start of a long effort. In 1822, Colonel Richard Martin succeeded in passing a bill to prevent cruelty to livestock (later amended to include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A year later, the Cruelty to Animals Act was passed, establishing England s first attempt to regulate experimentation of animals (Guerrini, 90). In the midst of the anti vivisection legislation, Anna Sewell published Black Beauty, an animal autobiography illustrating the conditions of a working horse in the nineteenth century. Black Beauty exposes the treatment of animals during this time, including the cruelty of accessories such as the bearing rein, a strap restraining the horse s neck, causing damage and pain. In his article Why Don t We Complain? William F.Buckley, Jr. describes the increasingly timid behaviour amoung Americans in inconsequential everyday events. Buckley further illustrates this shy behaviour by recounting multiple personal anecdotes; Buckley then attempts to link this helpless, as he calls it, behavior to the increasing level of political indifference within the United States of America. Naturally everyone feels uneasy about this. In order to easy this feeling, Williams tells those waiting to be tortured that before noon the individual s entire memory will be erased. Williams argues that if memory is necessary for personal identity, this news should put any feelings of uneasiness to rest. When asked, the individual still reports feeling uneasy about the torture. Williams repeats this process altering the scenario from amnesia to exchanging the memories of the individual who will be torured for those of another. Again when prompted the individual still feels uneasy about the torture. Williams claims that this is proof of the body being just as necessary as the memories. However, this is not a fair analysis of the situation. When the individual is told of their torture as a matter of fact, it is a natural reaction to feel uneasy. This is similar to feeling anxious about a public speaking event that unexpectedly gets canceled right before taking the stage. There will remain a sense of anxiety until the event causing that feeling is gone. Likewise, the feeling of unrest will remain present until the moment of memory loss. This review highlights which kinds of signals affect our choice for a partner, discusses the most commonly known principles of beauty and considers the role of cultural differences and the beauty ideal propagated by the media. 2. ON THE TRACES OF BEAUTY: JDUGMENT AND BENEFIT OF ATTRACTIVE FACES In our daily life we are constantly confronted with beauty and only to few other things we dedicate so much attention as to our appearance. Within today s multimedia society especially the evaluation of faces is of outstanding importance. An attractive face clearly finds more approval: a beautiful face activates the reward centre in the opposite s brain and we generally link positive human characteristics with an attractive face (Rhodes, 2006). Systematic research in this area started at the beginning of the 1970 s. Dion, Berscheid and Walster, who were pioneers in this field, determined the relationship between positive characteristics and attractive faces and came up with the proposal what is beautiful is good (Dion, Berscheid, Walster; 1972). Today it is generally accepted that attractive persons have a better and easier life than less attractive ones. Thus, further investigations into this topic showed that attractive children get better grades or receive less punishment than fellow peers who are less attractive. Even in court cases it seems ... • 46. A Human s Five Senses A human s five senses are normally separate from each other, with no one particular sense having an exact and direct relation to another. This statement is true for most, but not for everyone. There are individuals who experience a condition called synesthesia, in which two or more of the five senses can possibly trigger one another. Oftentimes people with this condition do not realize that their perception differs from most people around them. Two people, one with this condition and one without it, could see or feel everything entirely differently, a fascinating phenomenon that scientists have begun to study. After much analysis done by the scientists, three distinguishing types have been identified to most commonly affect specific senses. One of the three most common types of synesthesia that affects a human s perception is called grapheme to color. This type describes the process of sensing or physically seeing a projected color when a letter is shown or thought of. Interestingly enough, due to this unchanging perspective, a synesthete may feel unsettled if a letter is in a color that does not match the color they see for that specific letter. Seeing letters in accordance to color may help a student learn better in terms of being able to name letters and remember their colors. Larry West (West interview Newman about synthetics) records Newman saying that synthetics have a lower volatility and therefore do not boil off or vaporize as quickly as petroleum(conventional) motor oils (West). This can mean a number of things but for the consumer, that means that a car is less prone to overheating, and eventually, this will save the average driver more money (West). And it makes sense as to why people would want to find the root of all good and evil, given that throughout mankind, good and evil has been prominent with figures representing both sides. From Hitler to Mother Teresa, we see two very distinct sides of the spectrum. There s Hitler who is responsible for the death of millions of Jewish people. Led by racism, he was a ruthless killer and was also was the main cause for WWII. However, on the other side, there s Mother Teresa, a nun and missionary who spent her whole life to helping the disadvantaged. Plato, Augustine, and The Manicheans were just three of many philosophers who came up with ideas regarding good and evil. In Phaedrus, Plato talks about the idea of a dual natured soul but Augustine, in Confessions, challenges that idea; Plato also describes the qualities of evil which Augustine transforms to fit in with his own beliefs in Christianity. The Manicheans talk about the journey from good to evil being led by external forces and Augustine challenges that idea, as he takes on a more internal viewpoint. Star Wars IV: A New Hope, is a movie which has parts of each of the three ideas, however the one I found to be more prominent in this particular episode was the Platonian philosophy, represented by the character Han Solo.
