Prevalence of Dementia in Australia
Wrong method to give APA intext citation. However, it is on page 469 of Edition 11. Remove.
Introduction Failure to remember events, forgetting to attend to tasks if interrupted, poor
hygiene habits, language problems, erratic and unpredictable judgment, disturbed emotions and
depression along with occasional hallucinations and delusions are all signs that a person may be
suffering from a common cognitive disorder called Dementia. In this case study, Antonio
Renaldi shows most of the symptoms of Alzheimer s disease, a type of dementia. It takes many
years for dementia to develop before it is diagnosed, and for the cognitive abilities of the
diseased person to deteriorate to a level where they are unable to continue their normal social and
professional activities. According to a recent study (Prince et al., 2013), it is estimated that about
35. 6 million people suffered from dementia worldwide in 2010 and these numbers will double
every twenty years. Australia is among a list of countries which are boldly facing this disease,
which afflicts the intellect of its countrymen. In 2011, 298,000 Australians suffered from dementia,
62% of which were women (AIHW, 2012) Prevalence of Dementia in Australia With dementia, due
to a significant delay between onset of disease and actual diagnosis, it is difficult to estimate the
prevalence in populations, as the total number of people having the condition at a given time is not
known. The most recent data on the prevalence of

Modernism In The Hollow Men By Thomas Stearns Eliot
The epoch making Modernist Movement reached its zenith during 1910 1930. Gradually, its
radiance and eminence declined due to the political and economic crisis of the 1930s.
Chronologically, Postmodernism laid its imprints upon various fields of study and thereby
providing a new dimension to them. It is a Janus faced ideology in the sense that it is partly a
continuation and partly repudiation from Modernism. Thomas Stearns Eliot s The Hollow Men is
assembled from fragments which exhibit the hollow nature of the present generation human beings.
Published in 1925, The Hollow Men is considered one of the popular Modernist poems of Eliot.
This paper focuses on the Postmodernist features, like intertextuality, allusion, parody,
juxtaposition, fragmentation, ambiguity, and use of mini narratives instead of grand narratives. In

mentor, was one of the prominent leaders of the Modernist Movement. The modernist leaders
showed a new path by rejecting the age old traditions, dogmas, and literary forms that were

Five Practices of Extraordinary Leaders The book, The Leadership Challenge written by Kouzes
Posner narrates the five leadership principles that are practiced by all leaders, no matter their
title. Every leader, no matter how effective their leadership abilities practice these traits to some
degree. In addition, every leader will have one or more trait be dominate, which inversely would
create a less practice trait. The five traits are model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge
the process, enable other to act, and encourage the heart. The Leadership Practice Inventory

Informative Essay On Attack By Social Media
Attack By Social Media Over the past fifteen years, social media has become popular in
communicating and connecting with people around the world. We have adapted to a lifestyle
that revolves around social media and children are surrounded by mobile devices and social
networking sites that made a lasting impact on them. A person can instantaneously connect with
someone else across the globe with one click or tap. Social media can have positive aspects like
having a voice and connecting with people around the world but with positive outlooks, it can
also have negative effects that make a lasting impression on our society and world. Because of
the invasion of privacy, addictive nature, and the impact on children s education, I believe social
media has a negative impact on our world. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter
allows you to create a bio and share photos and facts about yourself. You can share information
with your friends and allow the world to see you. With this, people can know a lot of
information about you and, More than ever before, groups or individuals can be profiled, and the
results used to better manipulate them. This may be as harmless as advertising for a particular
product, or as damaging as political brainwashing (Social Media Data Collection Can Lead to
Violations of Privacy). This means that companies can gain access to data if they have the money
and bystanders can get profiled to be manipulated. The government can use social media to

The Pearl Reflection
The Pearl, written by John Steinbeck in 1944, is a thoughtful classic. The Pearl follows Kino,
the main character, along with his wife, Juana, and their baby, Coyotito. The family lives in a
poor town by the sea. Kino is a pearl diver and lives a peaceful life. This all goes awry when a
scorpion bites Coyotito, and they are unable to receive medical help because of their poor status.
Despite being unable to receive treatment, they continue with their normal routines. However, the
next day was anything but normal; Kino found a large pearlduring his dive. He was the center of
the town s attention, and he now had the attention of the doctor. Coyotito was healed, but the
doctor was still treating him; since the doctor wanted to act like he healed Coyotito, just to get
the pearl. Kino and Juana decided that they should sell the pearl, As they look for buyers, they
were forced to elude thieves. When they left the town to sell the pearl, they were followed by
trackers who wanted the pearl. Kino ambushes them to protect his family, but Coyotito is killed
from the attack. The family blames all of their misfortune on the pearl, and they throw it back into
the sea. The pearl has shown that greed is a powerful force. This is reinforced in many ways
throughout the book.
The power of greed is first shown through the doctor, who purposely misdiagnosed Coyotito. The
doctor had always only wanted to help those who could pay well, he did not care about the poor
families. The doctor refused to see Coyotito at first since the family would be unable to pay.
Coyotito suffered until Kino found the huge pearl. Once the doctor learned that the family had
the valuable pearl, he wanted to help and treat the baby. He treated the baby but also infected
him on purpose just to later treat him. The doctor had hoped that his heroic medical treatment
would earn him the pearl. When the doctor demanded payment, Kino refused and explains that
he plans to sell the pearl. The doctor is furious and plans to steal the pearl instead. He hits Kino
in the head, but Kino stabs and kills him. This proves that the power of greed for the pearl can
make someone purposely make a someone sick and risk their own life, or someone else s, in order
to achieve

Lily Metaphors
In this story, Lily starts her journey by experiencing the first stage of a monomyth, pre
separation. Within the first few pages, Lily has a flashback of the most traumatic memory she
has... killing her mother. The guilt from this memory haunts Lily throughout her life and is the
primary reason of her unhappiness. This is the pre separation stage because Lily is extremely
miserable with her life and is unaware of what is holding her back. She currently lives with her
father T Ray, who only adds to her depression. Although Lily is his daughter, he does not treat her
with any kindness or respect. This is shown through his abusive ideas of disciplining Lily both
emotionally and physically. Kneeling on grits is one of the many cruel ways T Ray

Some would say there are plenty of strong and powerful playable female characters such as Lara
Croft from Tomb Raider . But even the best playable female characters are going to be
inoffensively beautiful in some way shape or form. Lara Croft was a powerful and intelligent
woman, but she was overly sexualised in the older games. In the latest Tomb Raider game she is
attractive, realistically proportioned, properly clothed and is more human like which makes her an
acceptable sexualisation because she s not objectified.
Sexism in the Gaming Industry
For 20 years the industry s attitude was women don t play video games , although they are slowly
changing their attitude because 48% of gamers are in fact female, there is still major sexism in the
industry that remains. An indie female game developer Zoe Quinn, was trying to release her game

the two caused her to receive men dialling her number to spout rape threats, sexist comments and
telling her to kill herself. The abuse got so bad that Zoe had to change her phone number. She
eventually took the game down because she couldn t handle the abuse anymore. She then in the

Things You Need To Know Before Buying A New Computer
Buying a new computer is a difficult task, filled with jargon and lots of competitors trying to get
you to part with your hard earned money. It can be extremely tricky to know what kind of
computer to get, and which computer will best serve your needs, especially with new tablets and
netbooks hitting the market every day.
The most important question you will need to ask yourself is: what do I need or want a computer
for? What tasks do I want to be able to accomplish? It can be very easy to get seduced by offers
of higher performance and state of the art graphics, but if you never use the computer to its full
potential, then that is simply money wasted. Conversely, if you wanted to use a computer for

Designed to be a static unit, desktops are usually much heavier and larger than laptops or
netbooks. However, this allows for them to be comparatively faster and more powerful than a
similarly priced laptop. If you need or want power on a budget and do not need to work on the
move regularly, a desktop is a great choice. The extra power possible also makes desktops a good
choice for gamers and media creators, too. The design of most desktops also makes it possible to
upgrade units with more memory, higher powered graphics and sound, and more processing
power, if you know what you are doing. This also means that many hardware malfunctions if you
are unlucky enough to experience any can be fixed simply for the price of the part and labour.
The largest disadvantage of desktops is the lack of portability. Many people need the ability to
take their work with them, and this can be a severe limitation. Unlike a laptop, you may have to
buy a monitor for a desktop separately, and they can be more difficult to set up. In smaller homes
or if you need to travel frequently, dedicating a space to a large computer might also be an issue,

Gold Standard Foreign Exchange Market
Gold Standard Foreign Exchange Market The gold standard is a monetary system in which the
standard economic unit of account is a fixed weight of gold. With the gold standard, the United
States economy would print currency that equaled a specific value of gold. Meaning, you could
cash in your money for a specified amount of gold because a unit of currency equals a specific
amount of gold. As stated in chapter 5 of International business, 10th edition, the gold exchange
standard, established at Bretton Woods after World War II, worked until the 1970 s when it
collapsed due to inflation and the surplus of U.S. dollars held outside the United States. They used

Smaller retailers would most likely be ruined in these types of transactions because of the lack
of knowledge and playing power when it comes to trading in a high risk format and are usually
discourage to partake in these high risk trading. The limitations to Governments were that they
could not spend what they wanted because the amount of currency in circulation had to
correspond to the amount of gold in reserve. President Nixon eliminated the gold standard in
1971. It was eliminated because the governments could not manipulate the money supply if it
was tied to gold. Once it was eliminated, governments could create as much Fiat money as they
wanted in order to conduct wars or any other big expenses. Fiat money is money that the
government has declared to be legal tender even though it has no actual value and is not backed
by reserves. As a result, the currency in circulation today does not have to be backed up by
anything. This is why we see trillion dollar deficits today. Politicians can spend what they want
regardless of the real economic downfalls that eventually have to be dealt with. Nowadays, on a
side note, foreign governments such as the Chinese and others finance our US debt. This means
most of debt the US government owns is owed to foreign investors. The answer to whether having
gold standard is good or not is based on whom you ask. Economists will have one

The Effects Of Grazing On Wildlife And Plant Species And...
Rangeland is any extensive area of land that is occupied by native herbaceous or shrubby
vegetation which is grazed by domestic or wild herbivores. Over the last couple of decades
grazing of public rangelands in the United States has become very controversial. Groups opposing
has cited degradation of public trust resources and detrimental to wildlifeand plant species while
advocates believe that grazingis beneficial to the wildlife and plant species and holding up the
long tradition of ranching. However, beyond the arguments of both sides is a complex web of
scientific information, ecosystem processes, and practical issues related to grazing that must be
carefully considered before judging whether grazing is beneficial or detrimental for any given
situation. In most cases the question is not black and white, but rather a matter of weighing the
expected effects of grazing against the objectives for a particular site.
Rangelands occur on all continents, particularly in Africa, Australia and the United States. It
presently occupies about 47% of the world s land and contributes significantly to the production of
ecosystem goods and services. In Australia alone, almost 81% is classified as rangeland. In the
United States 36% is considered rangeland, with 53% located in 19 western states. At present
United States rangelands comprise approximately 770 million acres with the private sector owning
more than half. Rangelands in the United States are diverse lands from the

Essay on The Deeper Meaning of Frost’s Tuft of Flowers
The Deeper Meaning of Frost s Tuft of Flowers
Robert Lee Frost published his first book of poems entitled A Boy s Will in 1913. From this
collection come one of several poems that critics and anthologists alike highly regard as both lyrical
and autobiographical in nature. One such critic, James L. Potter, in his book entitled [The] Robert
Frost Handbook, explains [that] Frost wore a mask in public much of the time, concealing his
personal problems and complexities from his reading and listening audiences (Potter 48). Through
The Tuft of Flowers, a kind of lyrical soliloquy, Frost half intentionally reveals his personal views
on the theme of fellowship (Potter 48).

The speaker notes that the butterfly flies as far as eye could see / (but) on tremulous wing came
back to me (17 18). Here, the butterfly seems to parallel the thoughts the speaker has about the
field and the delight it brought both of them the day before. The reader can infer from this
comparison that Frost, like the butterfly, has enjoyed great beauty, joy, and love at certain times
during his life but because the grass chokes the beauty in the field, the good times are beset with
feelings of loneliness and grief.
The butterfly eventually turns and leads the speaker to a tall tuft of flowers beside a brook (22).
The significance of the flowers and the brook can not be overlooked, because at this place in the
poem the mood suddenly swings from pessimism to optimism. It seems that God was trying to
send a message to Frost that the field of life can be filled with beauty and he might not always be
alone in his life s work (22). This couplet of the poem is significant because it gives us a clue to
how God reveals to the speaker that, although the field of life appears barren, a brook nourishes
the ground to give life to the beauty he possesses. In addition, through God s infinite wisdom and
mercy, Frost s loneliness and grief will someday again turn back into fellowship and joy.

Laurryn Hill Tell Him Analysis
The idea of love in relationships has become more popularized throughout the decades. Though the
term love is ambiguous and can vary from person to person, Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love
depicts various forms of love based on passion, intimacy, and commitment alone and intersecting to
form an intermediate form of love. To illustrate, in the song Tell Him by Lauryn Hill, a combination
of intimacy and commitment creates companionate love seen between Hill and God.
Companionate love is defined as the affection and tenderness we feel for those with whom our lives
are deeply intertwined (Hatfield and Rapson, 1993). Companionate love can be seen in non couple
relationships as it excludes passion (infatuation) and exemplifies a relationship built on deep
affection and connectedness. Looking at companionate love in its components, intimacy and
commitment can range on the degree of intensity. Intimacy,... Show more content on

The chorus repeating tell him I need him, tell him I love him portrays the dependency on God
Hill has; as she continues on in the song using the same verse multiple times, this establishes an
emphasis on long term commitment to God and the degree of intimacy Hill has with God.
Words/phrases like need and tell him suggests open and honest relationship that is built on trust.
Throughout the song, references to biblical verses like the verse Now I may have faith to make
mountains fall, but if I lack love, then I am nothin at all shows Hill s belief that through her faith

My Visit On Chicago Military Academy At Bronzeville
My visit to Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville provided an image that the school has been
the sight of perceived danger, yet the teachers, such as Mr. Frontera, remain because they care and
believe that they can make a difference in the lives of the students they teach. The morning I was
attempting to go visit the schoolgot off to a rocky start that would somewhat predict the rest of the
day. The principal at Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville asked me to visit with another
class that started forty minutes earlier than the class he had previously asked me to attend. After
rushing through my morning routine, I still managed to make it to the school ten minutes after
the class started. Rather than interrupt the class, I decided to go to the nearest McDonald s to
sit and read until the next class cycle. This was when I first noticed my surroundings. Though it
was cold, there seemed to be a lot of guys hanging around on the sidewalks. There were two fast
food restaurants that I would not consider healthy food choices. Once inside of McDonalds, I
came to realize that I had sat down in the middle of a drug transition. Essentially, there were men
selling and doing drugs in the bathroom of the McDonald s. I felt uncomfortable and decided it
would be best to sit in the office of the school. Once I arrived back at the school, I could not
figure out how to access the building. I called the school, expecting to be rudely guided into the
school. However, like Steinberg et

Essay about Consumer Appeal
Consumer Appeal
Advertisers of today have strategically combined commercials and television shows in order to sell
products. Gloria Steinem discusses a similar idea in her article, quot;Sex, Lies, and Advertising.
quot; She repeatedly demonstrates how advertisements, particularly in magazines, are
complementary to the articles around them. In the same manner, so are commercials to television
programs.
They are both aimed at the same groups or types of people, such as sex, age, gender, etc.
Many times, the time of day or day of the week a show is aired has a lot to do with the types of
viewers the program will attract. Thus, the types of commercials will also differ. On... Show more

This leaves a majority of the older crowds watching the program.
According to Gloria Steinem, the target of the television show will be the same as that of the
commercials. This proved to be true with quot;Profiler quot; and its commercials. There were a
total of twenty commercials aired. They included and Allstate Insurance ad, a number of car dealers
and promotions, chewing gum, beauty products, medicine, food, and television satellites. Most of
them had female voice overs with predominantly white actors and/or actresses. The actors and/or
actresses were also good looking, thin, and of high to medium status.
In Steinem s terms, and as mentioned by Cayo Gamber, an advertisement is generally linked to
the article, or in this case, the program. The show is seen as a quot;complementary copy quot; for
the commercials; because it included certain accessories to a person in the same life style as the
characters in the program.
The cars advertisements, in particular, were at times found in the show.
However, the other products weren t really enforced by the program. Above all, the program did
help maintain the intended target interested and tuned in to that specific channel.
The benefit of airing commercials at that specific time of

Comparison Of The Lamb And The Tyger
Writers and authors for centuries have used different strategies to compare living things with one
another, as well as non living things with one another. During the Romantics era, it was a time
during economic destruction. People had little hope and writers and poets began to express their
emotions as well as critiques on this time period. William Blakewas a poet as well as a painter, who
wrote works that addressed the social issues around the area in which he lived. The country dealt
with several deaths, which caused the nation to go under depression. Furthermore, the essay,

child to be a archetype relating to his mother, the infant also can be seen as suffering. In a way,
this poem is laughing at the idea of Songs of Innocence. Blake, or the speaker, is harsh about the
experience of being a child and refuses to be handled by his parents. Blake further states that the
parents of the child treated him poorly throughout his childhood. The parents did not want the kid
and was upset that they had a child. The father cried, the mother groaned, and the child was fussy.
The poem is not very uplifting or positive, which means it fits perfectly with Blake s collection,

These are Through the Drinking Glass by Andy Soon Leong Tan, The Neurocognitive Effects of
Alcohol on Adolescents and College Students by Donald Zeigler et. al, and Alcohol and Sexual
Assault by Antonia Abbey et. al. To examine the topic properly I should start with my own
understanding of the topic; I understand that drinking is a part of the college experience and that
it is pervasive on campus. When I came to college I already had the idea that college would have a

One fact that the authors point out is that youths are beginning to drink at lower ages and with
more frequency. The statistics range from 47 percent of high school students drinking heavily to
10 million, 28 percent of children that age, reporting alcohol use in the last thirty days. College
students reflect those same statistics. Concern is raised about how alcohol use patterns developed
in the teen years is not an issue that time resoles. The article then bridges into alcohol s effects on
teens. The absorption of alcohol under normal circumstances is first explained, with there being a
set amount of alcohol being removed each hour and if that amount is exceeded alcohol will
continue building up in the blood. Alcohol has numerous effects on the body it can impair the brain
s ability to learn and remember events, and reduce a person s motor controls, also alcohol releases
the happiness hormones, endorphin and dopamine, encouraging continued alcohol use. Using large
amounts of alcohol can poison the brain over time which is a large issue during this important time
of brain development. Unfortunately, due to their smaller bodies and non tolerance alcohol effects
teenagers more than it does adults, this leads increases the risk of Alcohol Poisoning and means
teens become drunker faster. Drinking large amounts of alcohol

Family and Systemic Therapies
The emergence of family and systemic therapies in the latter part of the 20th century saw
something of a paradigm shift in the world of psychotherapy and counseling. Those in the field
during the 1960 s and 1970 s were predominantly occupied with psychodynamic, behavioural and
humanistic approaches (Corey, 2009). Theories attached to these forms of therapy emphasized the
autonomy of the individual, and the capacity to engage in free, independent choice. In therapeutic
settings, much of the discussion would also typically be focused on cause and effect , in other
words; seeking an explanation for why a person was thinking, feeling or behaving in a particular
manner. Less attention would be focused on the context of the individuals experience, and the
matter of how a situation came to be as it is (Bowen, 1972).
This idea however is central to what would later become the practice of family and systemic
therapies. Family therapy advocates using practices that specifically address historical, contextual
and constitutional factors, including working with all members of the extended family and wider
social network as well as coaching people to manage their constraints within their unit (Carr, 2012).
Systemic therapy has its roots in family systems theory, which was pioneered by Murray Bowen, an
American psychiatrist who originally practiced within the psychoanalytic model, but later shifted
his focus to the role of family dynamics and dimensions of the family as a system during

addressing and running a new state. The new state of India was accompanied by a vast array of
issues, relating to matters such as inequality and prejudice. These problems that occurred after the

Nehru, and after his death in 1964, his daughter Indira Gandhi, who ran as Prime Minister from
1966 to 1977 and then again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. During their time as the
Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi implemented many significant
social, political and economic policies and reforms that had a major effect in the establishment of
the world s largest democracy. However many issues were encountered such as the partisan
violence and the language and cultural barriers which resulted in the feeling of erasure by various
faiths and communities. Nehru also implemented aspects of democratic socialism and a secular

with the advocacy for more rights for women, his educational reforms and his industrialisation

an area I did well on in this class. I showed up on time and for the most part I was prepared for
class. A couple of areas I think I could have done betteron was class participation and
procrastinating on my work. In class I think it would have helped me if I had been more

weakness. I would wait till the last minute to write a paper and get a decent grade on it, but not

time to plan them out I would have gotten better grades on my papers. In my next English class I
will continue to have good attendance and be prepared for class. What I plan on changing in my

Essay on How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization
Roles of the Catholic Church in Western civilization has been scrambled with the times past and

How Whistleblowing Is A Major Issue For Private Organizations
Kyler Wilson December 6, 2016 Professional Ethics Final Paper Whistleblowing can be a major
issue for private organizations who may bend or break the rules to get an upper hand in the
business world. This can be a key threat to both every day employees as well as middle and
upper management level positions. The two articles being looked at for this argument are both
one that supports whistleblowing in the workplace as well as another article that argues against
whistleblowing. The article supporting whistleblowing is titled Why are there so few
whistleblowers? Blame evolution, and is written by Paul Rauwolf and Dominic Mitchell, who
have both earned their PhD s from the University of Bath. The article was published in the
Washington Post. The theory that most supports this article are the ideas of Kant. The title of
the article against whistleblowing is titled Why Are Some Whistleblowers Vilified and Others
Celebrated? The article is written by David M. Mayer, he is a writer for the Harvard Business
Review. This article was published by the Harvard Business Review. The theory supporting this
article is utilitarianism, this can be seen through the importance of doing what is best for everyone
involved, not just yourself. The third theory that can be argued is the idea of W.D. Ross and his

world, but it can be a vital towards promoting a healthy and stable work environment. The

Lessons For Women By Zhao B The Lament Of Chinese Women
Nelson Huang
Professor Wang
FYS
13 November 2017
The Lament of Chinese Women
China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, has a long history and thus people there have
always been emerging in a full complex set of ethical codes under the influence of Taoism and
Confucianism. Like many people from other civilizations, Chinese people share a traditional
patrilineal society and therefore creates a whole set of gendered stereotypes to classify the social
roles of men and women. Till now, those understandings still somehow affect how people act within
the community, however, in a negative way.
Many women are trapped in those outdated comprehensions of gender roles and thus living in
restrained lives. In the past day, women are always instructed to be a gentle wife who serves her
husband intimately and sexually, a conservative family member who don t listen or talking about
politics or any kinds of men s activities, and the most important things, a mother who can take care
of the children in her husband s family and raised them to their work age. These harsh social tasks
are incredibly essential for women to follow in the old time.
In the book Lessons for Women by Zhao Ban, a series of intelligible moral identities for women
are illustrated as well as a stringent list of pros and cons for daily life are exhibited. The book is
the family teaching that Zhao, as a mother, writes to her daughters to have them success in their
future lives as wives and mothers. In the book, she

A reason why Bulow may have proposed to lower the tariff rate is because of the power the
Social Democrats and Left Liberals held in the Reichstag as opposed to the Conservatives in
1902. Therefore, this meant that there would be no political backlash towards the Chancellor
thus the Kaiser was less likely to force him to resign. Eventually, the tariff was lowered to pre
1982 levels, and was effectively a compromise between the Social Democrats, National Liberals
and the Free Conservatives. This left the working class content; subsequently meaning they
applied less pressure upon the government. Bulow s decision was backed up the following year
by the election result where the Socialists gained 25 seats and the Conservatives lost 4 seats. This
is an example of the declining influence of the Junkers, and more importantly an example of
democracy. The Hottentot election was the name given to the election in 1907 and resulted after
the Kaiser dissolved the Reichstag after they failed to support Bulow s government in their

They have a couple things that really stand out, one being politics and another I noticed being
the act of defying a higher power. Creon defied a seer in his story. Creon goes and decides to
defy Tiresias, a very old seer. Tiresias is a seer which means they can predict the future and warn
people about what is to come for them if it is bad. Now Tiresias has been in this game for a long
time, probably even dating back farther than Creon s parents. Tiresias definitely knows what he
s doing. Tiresias tells Creon of a sight he had about Creon. It is very bad for Creon it is a sight
telling of his whole family dying but Creon doesn t want to believe it. Creon disgraces Tiresias
and is very rude to him. Creon defies Tiresias and gets his whole family killed in the process.
Defying a higher power did not go so well for Creon but for David it went pretty well. David
defied the Adjustment Bureau. The Adjustment Bureau is a Bureau of immortal people that have
a plan for everyone s lives and are supposed to keep them on track so they basically make your

depression. When she attempts suicide, she is sent to a mental institution, where the psychiatrist
diagnosed her with borderline personality disorder (Mangold, 1999). This disorder s symptoms
include instability in relationships, identity disturbance, impulsivity, emotional instability, and
chronic feelings of emptiness (National Institute of Mental Health, 2013). What is personality?
What causes a person to have a personality disorder? Why do people behave and think differently
and what influences these behaviors? There have been many theorists who have tried to find the
answers to these questions. Research has produced many theories of... Show more content on

Attention is the set of processes through which a person focuses on incoming information. These
people define problem solving as operating within constraints and reaching a goal from a starting
state that is nowhere near the goal (Riegler, Riegler, 2009). Decision making is an interaction of
these processes to make a decision. Each of these mental processes can be difficult to understand,
but the human brain does most of the work without any one individual having to put too much
effort into making it happen. Everyone s mental process is different and unique from the next
person, which is correlated to each individual s personality and how these traits influences these
different behaviors. Take, for example, Susanne in Girl, Interrupted . Susanne talked often about
having detailed thought about suicide, and the requirements of a successful suicide, and then
attempted suicide followed by denial. Aspects of personality can change throughout life, and are
influenced by both internal factors (genetics) and external factors (environment). Other aspects,
such as temperament, or stable individual differences in emotional reactivity, remain the same.
Personality theories have many differences, however, one aspect of personality that many theorists
agree upon is that genetic factors influence their child s personality. Specifically, how they are
influences and

How Adaptive Clothing Empowers People With Disabilities
Imagine the struggle of being physically different and having to dress differently because of it.
The fashion industry designs clothing for the ideal person to wear, but designers do not recognize
the struggle it is for disabled people to dress themselves everyday. In Mindy Scheier talks, How
Adaptive ClothingEmpowers People with Disabilities Scheier expresses the importance of being
able to dress like every other person with, or without, a disability. The speaker uses pathos, logos,
and ethos to detail her experience through adaptive clothing; her most successful appeal is pathos.
She uses pathos, an emotional appeal, to engage the audience through the story of her son s struggle
with unadaptive clothing.

Consequences Of The Middle Passage
With South Carolina s fertile land that was great for growing crops, such as rice, indigo, and
cotton, it wasn t long before slaves began being brought into the colony. Many people came to
South Carolina from the Barbados and already had a well developed slave system in place, so
they brought it with them. While some slaves came from the Barbados, most of the slaves were
brought over from Africa, and more specifically, the west coast of Africa. From Africa, they
travelled to the New World via Middle Passage. The Middle Passage was part of the triangular
trade that existed between America, Europe, and Africa. It was an extremely harsh boat ride in
which slaves from Africa were brought to the West Indies. The Africans were tightly packed

The Origins Of Lean Thinking
1.0EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The origins of lean thinking is actually created from the
manufacturing industry. In the manufacturing or production industry, lean management design
approach main objective is focusing on the elimination of waste and having a smooth workflow
through a right process. Lean also enables the organization to improve performance. In the
construction industry, lean thinking still consider a new way or method of managing project in
construction. Lean in the construction is an issue of developing a new thinking, knowledge and
adopting new culture. On the other point, lean focused on value and the right process that would
maximised value and moving towards perfection. Moving from a traditional way of managing
construction project to lean will requires extra effort, not just changing the works procedure but far
from that. Changing the way we think about construction to a new paradigm; lean in construction.
On the other hand, off site construction has been applied in the construction industry quite a while,
especially in United Kingdom construction industry. It just a matter of people perception on
accepting these off site construction method. In other country off site construction also known as
Industrialised Building System (IBS). Off site construction method is about moving the site
activities away from the actual construction site into a controlled environment and organising the
work force into production line look alike. Due to changes in technology and

Compare And Contrast Seaman And Hally
Hally a dog of the Tosis family and Seaman the dog of Lewis one of the leaders if the Corps of
Discovery share many things in common. Hally and Seamen both share Heroism, and loyalty.
One reason that Hally and Seaman are loyal is that, Hally s breath made two burglars pass out
cold, and protecting the family from a home invasion. The Tosis family got a huge reward for
turning in the wanted criminals. Likewise, Seaman helped hunt. Seamen chased bleeding deer,
and got beavers for the corps. Gail Langer Karwoski states Seamen chased wounded deer, drove
beavers out of their lodges, and caught geese and pronghorns. Seaman and Hally are both heros.
Seaman was there for when things like buffalo bulls and Indians attacked. Hally is a hero because

Self-Reliance Vs Transcendentalism
Autonomy Being able to rely on one s own capabilities and judgements or resources is called self
reliance. Self reliance was a key attribute to obtain during the Transcendentalism time period.
This period was a direct reaction of the Age of Reason. The Transcendentalist era lasted from
about 1826 to 1860 and also ran as a part of the Age of Romance. During this time, the primary
beliefs were that people understood that God and everything going on was in direct correlation
with nature. Another popular belief was that everything was connected by an oversoul. Passages
that demonstrate self reliance perfectly are Self Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emersonand Walden, or
Life in the Woods by Henry David Thoreau. Although inferior to Walden, or Life... Show more

Self reliance was a major factor in this era. Both works demonstrate great examples of self
reliance. Both authors contributed a huge amount to the Transcendentalist era, even though one
actually lived out what the other one preached. Although inferior to Walden, or Life in the
Woods, Self Reliance is still a strong transcendental piece about being able to fully rely on
yourself, it is just not as in depth and detailed about the true transcendental life. Both Walden, or
Life in the Woods, and Self Reliance, show examples of independence, reliance on one s
abilities, and having the ability to make a life on your own. The Transcendentalist time period
was truly one for the history books. Many people were too scared to be individual and stand out,
while others lived the true life of a transcendental, free of all worries, and being free to make

Critical Interpretation On Dante s Divine Comedy
Within the last century or so, much of the critical interpretation on Dante s Divine Comedy has
been part of what is sometimes called symbolic literature. Symbolistic literature usually contains
superimposed ideas conceive by the writer s imagination, which is based on a collection of
religious and culturally opinionated ideas that the poet used to fashion the story but does not
literally invent. The poet s view of the world is skewed by the time in which they live, the way
they were brought up, and in part by cultural idealisms. Because of this, interpretation of Dante s
book is restricted to a select group of critics and interpreters. Interpretation of symbolic literature
aims to reveal the true meaning behind the text, which is usually extremely difficult to translate
as we can only guess what the author really indented to mean. This difficulty of translation is
compounded by the fact that the Devine Comedy has been translated from Italian to English,
Italian being a rather out of the way language when compared to English. This all being said, it is
almost impossible to derive exact interpretation of what Dante meant and why he may have put
characters where he put them. Suicide has and always will be a very controversial issue in the
terms of defining it as a sin. It is a very tender subject that can spark fierce debates. As the author of
the Divine Comedy, Dante Alighieritakes a bold stance on the issue of suicide. He believes the act
of committing suicide is a mortal

Essay on Arne Duncan s Continuing Failure of Renaissance 2010
Arne Duncan is the current Secretary of Education in Washington and was the biggest architect of
the Renaissance 2010 movement within the Chicago Public Schools. He has been an effective
leader for the charter school movement, or turn around schools as they begin to shape the education
systems of underprivileged cities in the rest of the United States of America. There are many people
who are in favor of the charter schools coming up through the educationsystem, but there are
others who are seeing the negative impact on their families and children. This renaissance is good
for creating a better education for students, but the scale is heavily tipped to one side that is
harming people who are/have been involved in Chicago Public Schools... Show more content on

When schools are converted to charters or turned around they are following the educational reform
of Arne Duncan to give better education to underserved areas in Chicago. The myth of this is that
these schools are highly beneficial to the underprivileged areas when in fact they are doing a great
amount of harm. In Arne Duncan and the Chicago Success Story: Myth or Reality? the myth is
recognized by stating the impact on children and teachers; a statement from the article says,
Renaissance 2010 was (and is) marketed as an opportunity to bring in new partners with creative
approaches to education. That s the myth (Brown, Gutstein, Lipman, 2009). As stated, the myth
here is schools should be operated as markets and the charter school system does this by getting rid
of the difficult working ways and replacing them with creative partners. Brown, Gutstein and
Lipman further explain why the charter school is harming the community saying how students are
facing attendance and violence problems, ...there is no guarantee that a student who had their
school closed will attend a charter school and those who had their school closed down have faced
destabilization of spikes in violence... (Brown, Gutstein, Lipman, 2009). This demonstrates the fault
of charter schools because it shows how community warnings were ignored on what school closings
will do to the neighborhood. A further statement on the problem with teachers and charters schools

work role produce the following:
* Write a description of the duties and responsibilities of your own work role (1.1)
* Prepare an explanation of the expectations about your own work role as expressed in relevant
standards (1.2)

Having codes of practise within the care industry is important, due to the industry entitling you to
work with and amongst vulnerable individuals in society, ensuring that there is a certain standard of
work along with a certain standard of moral and ethical behaviour.
Within a job description the main points usually tell you what tasks and responsibilities you are
required to do, it does not state how these requirements need to be carried out. In order to find
this out, you would refer to the relevant standards that are in place that allow you to work.
Relevant standards, like codes of practice will differ depending on the country in which you
work. Each UK country has National Minimal Standards that are used by inspectors to ensure that
services are being delivered at an acceptable level. National Occupational Standards are also set
across the whole of the UK to ensure that an individual effectively carries out their work within the
care industry. The National Occupational Standards form the basis to all qualifications in the care
sector (Pearsons College amp; FE College, n.d.).
The two main pieces of legislation that provide the framework for ensuring children s personal
development and health and safety in a setting is the Childcare Act 2006 as well as the Health and

Descartes
In the Meditations, Rene Descartes attempts to doubt everything that is possible to doubt. His
uncertainty of things that existence ranges from God to himself. Then he goes on to start proving
that things do exist by first proving that he exists. After he establishes himself he can go on to
establish everything else in the world. Next he goes to prove that the mind is separate then the
body. In order to do this he must first prove he has a mind, and then prove that bodily things exist.
I do agree with Descartes that the mind is separate from the body. These are the arguments that I

Since he can only be certain of the existence of himself insofar as he is a thinking thing, then he
has knowledge of his existence of only a thinking thing. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; After he
has established himself as a thinking thing, he then goes on to argue that the mind is more
certainly known then the body. He goes on to say that it is possible that all knowledge of
external objects, including his body, could be false as the result of the actions of an evil demon.
It is not, however, possible that he could be deceived about his existence or his nature as a
thinking thing. This is true because if he can be deceived about anything, then he can be certain,
as he is a thinking thing. Even corporeal objects, such as his body, are known much more
distinctly through the mind than through the body. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; This is where
the wax argument comes into play. All the properties of the piece of wax that we perceive with
the senses change as the wax melts. This is true as well of its primary properties, such as shape,
extension and size. Yet the wax remains the same piece of wax as it melts. We know the wax
through our mind and judgement, not through our senses or imagination. Therefore, every act of
clear and distinct knowledge of corporeal matter also provides even more certain evidence for the
existence of Descartes as a thinking thing. Therefore his mind is much clearer and more distinctly
know to him than his body. At this

Gold and Its Demand
Running Head: Gold and Its Demand Gold and Its Demand In the year 2008, the prices of gold
fell down to $9oo from $1,035. This was a drastic downfall in the price of gold in 2008 and this
has directly affected investors in a number of ways. The investors suffered losses of large
margin and in addition to this, many of the investors had paid from ten to fifty percent of the
deposits of their shares and when a downfall occurred in the prices of gold, many of the investors
lost almost whole amount of their capital. Beside this, the fall in the prices of gold was less as
compared to other equities and commodities (Bohm, 2011, pg 34 39). The year 2008 changed
the shape of competition among the gold investors and the main characteristic of this year was
the failure of government in the banking industry. The entire economy was suffered in this year
and in this year of deflation; the affect on gold was a decrease in price. Gold prices fall to $690,
then came back to $800 but then once again fall down due to poor financial conditions. The
value of $ which was less at the start of 2008, started to increase during the mid of the year and
the economy was becoming better but again at the end of the same year, the value of $ began to
decrease and this had a direct impact on the prices of gold. In addition to this, the central bank of
different countries started decreasing their interest rates and loans were provided on easy terms and

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Treatment For Posttraumatic...
Cognitive behavioral therapy treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder The Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders describes posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as an acute
stress disorder (2013). Individuals that experience this disorder are exposed to or have had an
experience of near death or bodily harm (American Psychiatric Association. 2013). Evidence based
therapy that has shown positive outcomes in cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) which is based on
changing behavior. The use of client centered therapy can also be beneficial with this type of client
if applied in addition to CBT. Joseph stated that a client centered approach to PTSD could result in
Post traumatic growth (2004). Post traumatic growth does not try to bring the client back to the
original state before the trauma but bring the client beyond their previous level of functioning
(Joseph, 2004). When a person experiences a trauma, they can have a myriad of emotions, it is the
therapist responsibility to help the client make better sense of the issue and continue functioning in
a normal manner. Not all traumas are alike and not all clients can be treated equally. The most
significant aspect of treatment in helping this type of client is the approach the therapist takes
which should include the temperament of the client and the goals the client seeks. Included here is
an examination of a fictitious client that has experienced a trauma and the therapist care plan. The

Racial Stereotypes About Tattoos

article by Michael Dorris where he acknowledges the various stereotypes that Native Americans
face alone, even in the twenty first century. All these generalizations have wrapped a foot of
ribbon and tied a knot on society, even if it is a mere splat of ink; thus it is my mission to snip a
piece of it off. To embark on this journey, questions have to be asked, and there is one in
particular that society has to praise; in what ways does American culture address stereotypes
against tattoos? Tattoos are a source of self expression, and there are countless of ideas that one
can forever ink on their body. There are people whose life story is captured and told by the inking
that scatters their physique, yet there are others who believe this is a representation of a bad
character. When I began digging, I knew that starting off with an individual s clashing experience

The Biological Theory Kate Millet Essay
The biological theory Kate Millet point out that male supremacy dos not reside in physical

in ancient society at some point took a turn toward patriarchy, displacing femalefunction in

Today, this is done without too much stress and strain on either side; usually this takes place in
meeting rooms in a very civilized manner with management, employees, and union negotiators.
Deals and concessions are made on both sides and once the final contract is agreed on, business
continues on. By paying dues and certifying affiliations, union employees gain the power in
numbers needed to ensure a better quality of life for themselves and their families. In most cases
relationships between management and employees continue on with mutual respect, and the
business continues to make a profit. It wasn t always this easy. In the beginning, the union was
initially considered a dangerous criminal act against businesses and instead of deals and
concession the negotiations consisted of murders and vandalism. In an early colonial America, as
society wrestled with massive economic and social changes, labor problems arose. Low wages,
long hours, as in dangerous work, and abusive supervisory practices led to high employee turnover.
This resulted in violent strikes and threats of social instability. John R. Commons founded and
created the first academic industrial relations program at the University of Wisconsin in 1920. He
received financial support from John D. Rockefeller Junior, who supported progressive labor
management relationship in the aftermath of the

Introduction Failure to remember events, forgetting to attend to tasks if interrupted, poor hygiene habits, language problems, erratic and unpredictable judgment, disturbed emotions and depression along with occasional hallucinations and delusions are all signs that a person may be suffering from a common cognitive disorder called Dementia. In this case study, Antonio Renaldi shows most of the symptoms of Alzheimer s disease, a type of dementia. It takes many years for dementia to develop before it is diagnosed, and for the cognitive abilities of the diseased person to deteriorate to a level where they are unable to continue their normal social and professional activities. According to a recent study (Prince et al., 2013), it is estimated that about 35. 6 million people suffered from dementia worldwide in 2010 and these numbers will double every twenty years. Australia is among a list of countries which are boldly facing this disease, which afflicts the intellect of its countrymen. In 2011, 298,000 Australians suffered from dementia, 62% of which were women (AIHW, 2012) Prevalence of Dementia in Australia With dementia, due to a significant delay between onset of disease and actual diagnosis, it is difficult to estimate the prevalence in populations, as the total number of people having the condition at a given time is not known. • 3. Modernism In The Hollow Men By Thomas Stearns Eliot The epoch making Modernist Movement reached its zenith during 1910 1930. Gradually, its radiance and eminence declined due to the political and economic crisis of the 1930s. Chronologically, Postmodernism laid its imprints upon various fields of study and thereby providing a new dimension to them. It is a Janus faced ideology in the sense that it is partly a continuation and partly repudiation from Modernism. Thomas Stearns Eliot s The Hollow Men is assembled from fragments which exhibit the hollow nature of the present generation human beings. Published in 1925, The Hollow Men is considered one of the popular Modernist poems of Eliot. This paper focuses on the Postmodernist features, like intertextuality, allusion, parody, juxtaposition, fragmentation, ambiguity, and use of mini narratives instead of grand narratives. • 5. Informative Essay On Attack By Social Media Attack By Social Media Over the past fifteen years, social media has become popular in communicating and connecting with people around the world. We have adapted to a lifestyle that revolves around social media and children are surrounded by mobile devices and social networking sites that made a lasting impact on them. A person can instantaneously connect with someone else across the globe with one click or tap. Social media can have positive aspects like having a voice and connecting with people around the world but with positive outlooks, it can also have negative effects that make a lasting impression on our society and world. Because of the invasion of privacy, addictive nature, and the impact on children s education, I believe social media has a negative impact on our world. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter allows you to create a bio and share photos and facts about yourself. You can share information with your friends and allow the world to see you. With this, people can know a lot of information about you and, More than ever before, groups or individuals can be profiled, and the results used to better manipulate them. This may be as harmless as advertising for a particular product, or as damaging as political brainwashing (Social Media Data Collection Can Lead to Violations of Privacy). This means that companies can gain access to data if they have the money and bystanders can get profiled to be manipulated. The government can use social media to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Pearl Reflection The Pearl, written by John Steinbeck in 1944, is a thoughtful classic. The Pearl follows Kino, the main character, along with his wife, Juana, and their baby, Coyotito. The family lives in a poor town by the sea. Kino is a pearl diver and lives a peaceful life. This all goes awry when a scorpion bites Coyotito, and they are unable to receive medical help because of their poor status. Despite being unable to receive treatment, they continue with their normal routines. However, the next day was anything but normal; Kino found a large pearlduring his dive. He was the center of the town s attention, and he now had the attention of the doctor. Coyotito was healed, but the doctor was still treating him; since the doctor wanted to act like he healed Coyotito, just to get the pearl. Kino and Juana decided that they should sell the pearl, As they look for buyers, they were forced to elude thieves. When they left the town to sell the pearl, they were followed by trackers who wanted the pearl. Kino ambushes them to protect his family, but Coyotito is killed from the attack. The family blames all of their misfortune on the pearl, and they throw it back into the sea. The pearl has shown that greed is a powerful force. This is reinforced in many ways throughout the book. The power of greed is first shown through the doctor, who purposely misdiagnosed Coyotito. The doctor had always only wanted to help those who could pay well, he did not care about the poor families. The doctor refused to see Coyotito at first since the family would be unable to pay. Coyotito suffered until Kino found the huge pearl. Once the doctor learned that the family had the valuable pearl, he wanted to help and treat the baby. He treated the baby but also infected him on purpose just to later treat him. The doctor had hoped that his heroic medical treatment would earn him the pearl. When the doctor demanded payment, Kino refused and explains that he plans to sell the pearl. The doctor is furious and plans to steal the pearl instead. He hits Kino in the head, but Kino stabs and kills him. This proves that the power of greed for the pearl can make someone purposely make a someone sick and risk their own life, or someone else s, in order to achieve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ken Levine himself said that Bioshock Infinite was marketed to appeal to frat boys. And Naughty Dog has revealed they didn t want to see what women thought of The Last of Us and that they were trying to appeal exclusively to males. While the director of Remember me has said the female protagonist has been killed off by publishers because men allegedly don t want to play as a girly girl . But even the best playable female characters are going to be inoffensively beautiful in some way shape or form. Lara Croft was a powerful and intelligent woman, but she was overly sexualised in the older games. In the latest Tomb Raider game she is attractive, realistically proportioned, properly clothed and is more human like which makes her an acceptable sexualisation because she s not objectified. Sexism in the Gaming Industry For 20 years the industry s attitude was women don t play video games , although they are slowly changing their attitude because 48% of gamers are in fact female, there is still major sexism in the industry that remains. Desktop Things You Need To Know Before Buying A New Computer Buying a new computer is a difficult task, filled with jargon and lots of competitors trying to get you to part with your hard earned money. It can be extremely tricky to know what kind of computer to get, and which computer will best serve your needs, especially with new tablets and netbooks hitting the market every day. The most important question you will need to ask yourself is: what do I need or want a computer for? What tasks do I want to be able to accomplish? It can be very easy to get seduced by offers of higher performance and state of the art graphics, but if you never use the computer to its full potential, then that is simply money wasted. Designed to be a static unit, desktops are usually much heavier and larger than laptops or netbooks. However, this allows for them to be comparatively faster and more powerful than a similarly priced laptop. If you need or want power on a budget and do not need to work on the move regularly, a desktop is a great choice. The extra power possible also makes desktops a good choice for gamers and media creators, too. The design of most desktops also makes it possible to upgrade units with more memory, higher powered graphics and sound, and more processing power, if you know what you are doing. This also means that many hardware malfunctions if you are unlucky enough to experience any can be fixed simply for the price of the part and labour. The largest disadvantage of desktops is the lack of portability. Many people need the ability to take their work with them, and this can be a severe limitation. Unlike a laptop, you may have to buy a monitor for a desktop separately, and they can be more difficult to set up. In smaller homes or if you need to travel frequently, dedicating a space to a large computer might also be an issue, as is moving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the gold standard, the United States economy would print currency that equaled a specific value of gold. Meaning, you could cash in your money for a specified amount of gold because a unit of currency equals a specific amount of gold. As stated in chapter 5 of International business, 10th edition, the gold exchange standard, established at Bretton Woods after World War II, worked until the 1970 s when it collapsed due to inflation and the surplus of U.S. dollars held outside the United States. The limitations to Governments were that they could not spend what they wanted because the amount of currency in circulation had to correspond to the amount of gold in reserve. President Nixon eliminated the gold standard in 1971. It was eliminated because the governments could not manipulate the money supply if it was tied to gold. Once it was eliminated, governments could create as much Fiat money as they wanted in order to conduct wars or any other big expenses. Fiat money is money that the government has declared to be legal tender even though it has no actual value and is not backed by reserves. As a result, the currency in circulation today does not have to be backed up by anything. This is why we see trillion dollar deficits today. Politicians can spend what they want regardless of the real economic downfalls that eventually have to be dealt with. • 13. The Effects Of Grazing On Wildlife And Plant Species And... Rangeland is any extensive area of land that is occupied by native herbaceous or shrubby vegetation which is grazed by domestic or wild herbivores. Over the last couple of decades grazing of public rangelands in the United States has become very controversial. Groups opposing has cited degradation of public trust resources and detrimental to wildlifeand plant species while advocates believe that grazingis beneficial to the wildlife and plant species and holding up the long tradition of ranching. However, beyond the arguments of both sides is a complex web of scientific information, ecosystem processes, and practical issues related to grazing that must be carefully considered before judging whether grazing is beneficial or detrimental for any given situation. In most cases the question is not black and white, but rather a matter of weighing the expected effects of grazing against the objectives for a particular site. Rangelands occur on all continents, particularly in Africa, Australia and the United States. It presently occupies about 47% of the world s land and contributes significantly to the production of ecosystem goods and services. In Australia alone, almost 81% is classified as rangeland. From this collection come one of several poems that critics and anthologists alike highly regard as both lyrical and autobiographical in nature. One such critic, James L. Potter, in his book entitled [The] Robert Frost Handbook, explains [that] Frost wore a mask in public much of the time, concealing his personal problems and complexities from his reading and listening audiences (Potter 48). Through The Tuft of Flowers, a kind of lyrical soliloquy, Frost half intentionally reveals his personal views on the theme of fellowship (Potter 48). The speaker notes that the butterfly flies as far as eye could see / (but) on tremulous wing came back to me (17 18). Here, the butterfly seems to parallel the thoughts the speaker has about the field and the delight it brought both of them the day before. The reader can infer from this comparison that Frost, like the butterfly, has enjoyed great beauty, joy, and love at certain times during his life but because the grass chokes the beauty in the field, the good times are beset with feelings of loneliness and grief. The butterfly eventually turns and leads the speaker to a tall tuft of flowers beside a brook (22). The significance of the flowers and the brook can not be overlooked, because at this place in the poem the mood suddenly swings from pessimism to optimism. It seems that God was trying to send a message to Frost that the field of life can be filled with beauty and he might not always be alone in his life s work (22). This couplet of the poem is significant because it gives us a clue to how God reveals to the speaker that, although the field of life appears barren, a brook nourishes the ground to give life to the beauty he possesses. In addition, through God s infinite wisdom and mercy, Frost s loneliness and grief will someday again turn back into fellowship and joy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though the term love is ambiguous and can vary from person to person, Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love depicts various forms of love based on passion, intimacy, and commitment alone and intersecting to form an intermediate form of love. To illustrate, in the song Tell Him by Lauryn Hill, a combination of intimacy and commitment creates companionate love seen between Hill and God. Companionate love is defined as the affection and tenderness we feel for those with whom our lives are deeply intertwined (Hatfield and Rapson, 1993). Companionate love can be seen in non couple relationships as it excludes passion (infatuation) and exemplifies a relationship built on deep affection and connectedness. Family and Systemic Therapies The emergence of family and systemic therapies in the latter part of the 20th century saw something of a paradigm shift in the world of psychotherapy and counseling. Those in the field during the 1960 s and 1970 s were predominantly occupied with psychodynamic, behavioural and humanistic approaches (Corey, 2009). Theories attached to these forms of therapy emphasized the autonomy of the individual, and the capacity to engage in free, independent choice. In therapeutic settings, much of the discussion would also typically be focused on cause and effect , in other words; seeking an explanation for why a person was thinking, feeling or behaving in a particular manner. Less attention would be focused on the context of the individuals experience, and the matter of how a situation came to be as it is (Bowen, 1972). This idea however is central to what would later become the practice of family and systemic therapies. Family therapy advocates using practices that specifically address historical, contextual and constitutional factors, including working with all members of the extended family and wider social network as well as coaching people to manage their constraints within their unit (Carr, 2012). Systemic therapy has its roots in family systems theory, which was pioneered by Murray Bowen, an American psychiatrist who originally practiced within the psychoanalytic model, but later shifted his focus to the role of family dynamics and dimensions of the family as a system during ... Lessons For Women By Zhao B The Lament Of Chinese Women Nelson Huang Professor Wang FYS 13 November 2017 The Lament of Chinese Women China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, has a long history and thus people there have always been emerging in a full complex set of ethical codes under the influence of Taoism and Confucianism. Like many people from other civilizations, Chinese people share a traditional patrilineal society and therefore creates a whole set of gendered stereotypes to classify the social roles of men and women. Till now, those understandings still somehow affect how people act within the community, however, in a negative way. Many women are trapped in those outdated comprehensions of gender roles and thus living in restrained lives. In the past day, women are always instructed to be a gentle wife who serves her husband intimately and sexually, a conservative family member who don t listen or talking about politics or any kinds of men s activities, and the most important things, a mother who can take care of the children in her husband s family and raised them to their work age. These harsh social tasks are incredibly essential for women to follow in the old time. In the book Lessons for Women by Zhao Ban, a series of intelligible moral identities for women are illustrated as well as a stringent list of pros and cons for daily life are exhibited. The book is the family teaching that Zhao, as a mother, writes to her daughters to have them success in their future lives as wives and mothers. In the book, she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A reason why Bulow may have proposed to lower the tariff rate is because of the power the Social Democrats and Left Liberals held in the Reichstag as opposed to the Conservatives in 1902. Therefore, this meant that there would be no political backlash towards the Chancellor thus the Kaiser was less likely to force him to resign. Eventually, the tariff was lowered to pre 1982 levels, and was effectively a compromise between the Social Democrats, National Liberals and the Free Conservatives. This left the working class content; subsequently meaning they applied less pressure upon the government. Now Tiresias has been in this game for a long time, probably even dating back farther than Creon s parents. Tiresias definitely knows what he s doing. Tiresias tells Creon of a sight he had about Creon. It is very bad for Creon it is a sight telling of his whole family dying but Creon doesn t want to believe it. • 46. Critical Interpretation On Dante s Divine Comedy Within the last century or so, much of the critical interpretation on Dante s Divine Comedy has been part of what is sometimes called symbolic literature. Symbolistic literature usually contains superimposed ideas conceive by the writer s imagination, which is based on a collection of religious and culturally opinionated ideas that the poet used to fashion the story but does not literally invent. The poet s view of the world is skewed by the time in which they live, the way they were brought up, and in part by cultural idealisms. Because of this, interpretation of Dante s book is restricted to a select group of critics and interpreters. Interpretation of symbolic literature aims to reveal the true meaning behind the text, which is usually extremely difficult to translate as we can only guess what the author really indented to mean. This difficulty of translation is compounded by the fact that the Devine Comedy has been translated from Italian to English, Italian being a rather out of the way language when compared to English. This all being said, it is almost impossible to derive exact interpretation of what Dante meant and why he may have put characters where he put them. Suicide has and always will be a very controversial issue in the terms of defining it as a sin. It is a very tender subject that can spark fierce debates.
