Star Wars Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Star Wars" can be quite challenging, primarily due to the
immense scope and depth of the franchise. With over four decades of storytelling across various
mediums including films, television series, books, comics, and video games, the task of
condensing such a vast universe into a coherent and engaging essay can feel daunting.
Firstly, there's the sheer amount of material to cover. From the classic themes of heroism,
redemption, and the struggle between good and evil to the intricate world-building, complex
characters, and philosophical underpinnings, "Star Wars" offers a wealth of content to analyze
and discuss. Deciding which aspects to focus on and how to structure the essay to provide a
comprehensive yet concise overview can be a formidable challenge.
Moreover, the depth of the "Star Wars" universe means that there are countless avenues for
exploration, from analyzing the mythological and archetypal elements to delving into the
political allegories and cultural influences. Each film, TV series, and extended universe content
adds layers of complexity and nuance, making it difficult to capture the full breadth of the
franchise in a single essay.
Furthermore, navigating the diverse opinions and interpretations within the fanbase can also
present a challenge. "Star Wars" has a passionate and vocal fan community with a wide range of
perspectives on various aspects of the franchise, including its themes, characters, and storytelling
choices. Balancing personal analysis with an acknowledgment of differing viewpoints while
maintaining an original argument can be demanding.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of "Star Wars" offers a rich tapestry of themes,
characters, and ideas to explore, it also presents significant challenges in terms of scope,
structure, and navigating diverse interpretations. However, with careful planning, research, and a
thoughtful approach, it is possible to craft a compelling and insightful essay that does justice to
the complexity and depth of this iconic franchise.

Analysis Of The Article Notes On A Politics Of Location...
In Adrienne Rich s article Notes towards a Politics of Location, Rich argues that
positionality is a way of understanding how power and privilege affect perspective. I
am in agreement with Rich that recognizing one s own politics of location is a useful
starting point for feminist theory. Rich s main arguments are that the US education
system failed to provide an adequate retelling of world histories, that white feminism
is ignorant of its privileges, and that through the awareness and inclusion of racial
movements can feminist theory grow. I will also compare Rich s article to Simone
de Beauvoir s first chapter, Biological Data from her book The Second Sex, and to
Judith Butlers article Performative Acts and GenderConstitution: An Essay in
Phenomenology and Feminist Theory. Lastly, I will explain how Rich s article is
valuable to myself, to the WOMN 2000 Feminist Thought course, and in broader
social contexts. Rich effectively argues that white feminism recreates the power
structures feminism seeks to disassemble.
Rich maintains that white feminism begins with the faulty US education system, or
for this paper s purposes, the North American education system. Rich (1984) contends
that Any United States citizen alive today has been saturated with...the warning that
any collective restructuring of society spells the end of personal freedom....But we
are not invited to consider the butcheries...of white supremacism (p. 220). The lack of
perspective for North Americans
Legal Analysis Of Dyson
Dyson must employ customer life cycle assessments and consider environmental
factors for product development and marketing to be successful. The company must
engage in efficient manufacturing to limit energy use and waste, using a high
percentage of recycling materials and promoting the responsible disposal of products
at the end of the life cycle (Dyson, 2017). Some environmental factors may also be
impacted by legal standards. A legal analysis of laws that protect the environment, in
addition to customers, influence the business actions of Dyson and the internal
regulations of the company. As Dyson continues to globalize, the legal environment
will be dependent on legal regulations and procedures that protect society.
Porter s Five Forces described by Michael Porter in his classic 1979 Harvard
Business Review article gave tremendous insight that began a revolution in marketing
strategy (President Fellows of Harvard College, n.d.). The Porter five forces
continue to help companies like Dyson compete in competitive industries and aid
them in being successful (President Fellows of Harvard College, n.d.). Well
established rivals in the vacuum industry including Maytag, Hoover, Oreck, Kirby,
and Bissell do exist and present a constant threat to the company. However, following
an examination of the bargaining power that Dyson have in the market Dyson s
decision to manufacture its products in the Far East allows operating and building
costs to be minimized. These choices
Moby Dick Influences
Herman Melville wrote what would become one of America s greatest novels,
Moby Dick, in 1851. The novel tells the story of a sailor, Ishmael, who joins a
whaling ship captained by Captain Ahab, a man who is on the edge of Madness
while he hunts for the giant sperm whale who took his leg. Before Herman Melville
wrote Moby Dick, he had several occupations and experiences that influence his
writing. As Melville grew up, he worked as a bank clerk, a teacher, a cabin boy for a
merchant ship, and aboard a sailing ship. On a voyage aboard the whalingship, the
Acushnet, Melville and a crewmate deserted near Polynesia, were captured by
cannibals, escaped on a different whaling ship led by a mutiny, was jailed for the
mutiny, and eventually escaped and arrived in Massachusetts 3 years later.
Melville s literature was influenced by writers of his time, such as Nathaniel
Hawthorne, and was also influenced by his earlier experiences in life. His
experiences as a whaler, for example, inspired him to write novels like Moby Dick
and Typee. During Melville s adventures, he heard rumors of a disaster that the Essex
went through,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They felt that there was an unappreciated beauty in such things. The events that the
crew went through were very dark and horrific, including the whale s attack, the crew
members deaths, their starvation, their insanity, and when some crew members
chose to commit suicide to provide food for the rest of the surviving crew. The crew
also experienced mysterious and supernatural events, such as the whale s human like
emotions. When the whale s mate was harpooned, he felt anger towards the crew and
was determined to destroy them. The whale destroyed their ship and followed them
for hundreds of miles to terrorize them. The whale also showed forgiveness when

John F Kennedy s Ethos Pathos Logos
President John F. Kennedy was a very serious and powerful speaker when it came
to addressing the people of the United States of America. In the early 1960 s the US
economy was recovering from a tremendous recession. The steel companies had
decided that they were going to raise their price of steel by 3 ВЅ percent. President
Kennedy was not too thrilled when he found out what the steel companies were
going to do. Since President Kennedy was an enormous supporter for stable prices in
the nation, he wrote a speech with such powerful rhetoric appeals such as ethos,
pathos, and logos to unify the people of the United Statesagainst the steel companies.
President Kennedy also supported his appeals with the use of diction, tone,
atmosphere, imagery, and evidence. President Kennedy showed the American public
that he was credible and trustworthy by using the appeal of ethos. He supported his
ethos appeal with diction and tone to reinforce it. Since JFK was the President of the
United States he was considered by the American people a trustworthy man. President
Kennedy showed the American people his authority along with that the situation was
very serious. In the speech President Kennedy also used specific diction that got the
American people to stand beside him in the battle with the steel companies.... Show

President Kennedy used this appeal and complimented it with the atmosphere of the
speech and the imagery. President Kennedy used imagery to give a picture to the
audience so it could grab them emotionally. For example he tells you in lines (10
15) what is going on in Vietnam and how servicemen have to leave their homes and
families for months to serve their country. He also said that one hundred thousand
workers were out of jobs in the steel industry which you can picture. The Atmosphere
of the speech was that President Kennedy was looking out for the American People
and was angered by the steel
Genesis 11 Mark Johnson Analysis
Ever since the tower of Babel, people have endeavored to find a way to unite all
humankind. In Genesis 11, the reason the world wished to stay united was to build a
tower to heaven and defy God s command to fill the earth. Because of their
disobedience, the Lord confused the languages of the workers so that they began to
babble to one another. More recently, Mark Johnson has attempted to unite the world
through music. As is indicated in several places throughout Johnson s interview with
Bill Moyer s, Johnson s theme is that music changes lives by uniting people in song.
This theme is summarized in Johnson s first words of the interview, I think music is
the one thing that opens the door to bring people to a place where they are all
connected.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Johnson said, We don t even know how long we re going to be in this world...
The most important thing is while we re here, let s make a difference together. That s
what Playing for Change is trying to represent. However, despite all his good
intentions, Johnson completely leaves God out of the picture. He is an advocate for
bringing hope to those in depression, but his hope is superficial. As Christians, our
hope is Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ... We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God... And hope
does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the
Holy Spirit, whom he has given us (Romans 5:1 2, 5). Playing for Change, while it
has good intentions, would have a more effective goal if they endeavored to bring
eternal hope instead of temporary hope. Unlike the tower of Babel, Johnson s
mission is unity for the sake of unity, instead of unity to climb to heaven. As he
travels the world, building schools and videoing musicians, Johnson s theme
remains constant changing and uniting lives through music. His tenacity can be
applied to any area of life as a lesson in perseverance, but especially in the field of
writing. When a theme is so convicting that it is worth spending ten years to develop
an idea, it is a theme worth writing
The Evil Eye Among The Azande
I.Introduction
This extended essay will involve a comparison of ethnographic material from two
case studies, E. E. Evans Pritchard s, Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic among the
Azande (Oxford 1937) and V. Chryssanthopoulou s article on The Evil Eye among
the Greeks of Australia: Identity, Continuity and Modernization , in J. C. B.
Petropoulos (ed.), Greek Magic: Ancient, Medieval and Modern (Routledge 2008,
pp. 106 118). The aim of this comparison will be to illustrate two different
indigenous systems of knowledge and understanding of man s misfortune in the
world as employed by the members of these societies. In particular, I shall be
focusing on the beliefs and practices of these societies which surround notions of
misfortune in everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when Pritchard paid the two different witchdoctors to teach his servant
all their secrets, when he acknowledges that the custom is that the teachings have to
be strictly confidential to someone who is particularly interested in proceeding his
career as a witch doctor. In addition, woman s position in the Zande society is a very
briefly mentioned aspect when on the contrary, Chryssanthopoulou being a female
anthropologist, has a frequency to mention only claims of women about the Evil Eye.
However; it might be the case that men among the Azande are more involved with
witchcraft than women and respectively in reverse in the Castellorizian community.
Also, Chryssanthopoulou is a follower of the Greek Orthodox Church that as
mentioned above, accepts the Evil Eye concept. Finally, it should be mentioned that
Evans Pritchard being a British studied the Azande when they were under a great
change because of the British rule, but again the topic is only briefly mentioned in
the ethnography.
Evans Pritchard s work Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic among the Azande was the
first ethnography that tried to understand the native s set of belief when in their own
context and not through a Westerner s eye. It was him that first criticized and
disposed of the thought that there existed a particularly primitive, prelogical
mentality. His point was to investigate the interrelationships of thought and
Systems Administration And Network Services
1.Goal After two labs focusing purely on the Linux side of systems administration
and network services, this third lab puts Windows into the spotlight and how it
deals with configuring services as compared to the previous RHEL based
configurations. Many of the same tasks which were completed using a RHEL 7
virtual machine in lab 2, such as setting up DHCP and DNS, are repeated in this
lab on a Windows 2012 Datacenter virtual machine. This is done not only to show
the differences in service administration, but also to indirectly teach students the
steps as well as precautions that need to be taken when integrating in different
enterprise server operating system families which very well could be running the
same network services, such as in the case of this lab. Instead of merely just
installing the same services and letting the clients make decisions on what data to
receive from who, this lab also presents the challenge of making these two very
different operating systems work together when the time comes to configure the
DNS server on the Windows VM. A major point I took away from this is that while
the Microsoft and ISC implementation of a DNS server can be seen as widely
different, the integration of the two is very smooth and easy due to both of them
still following the base rules of the DNS protocol as well as framework found in the
numerous RFC s which describe it. Active Directory, which is also installed on the
server, was review at this point from multiple different
The Role Of Birt Hogg Dube ( Bhd ) Syndrome
The Role of Folliculin in Amino Acid Sensing
Specific Aims
Birt Hogg DubГ© (BHD) syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant condition that s
characterized by the development of benign skin tumors and lung cysts. Moreover,
these manifestations increase patients risk to develop renal cell carcinoma (RCC)
and/or pneumothorax. Germline mutations in the Folliculin (FLCN) gene are
responsible for the onset of BHD, resulting in its loss of function. Furthermore, BHD
clinical hallmarks are similar to the clinical manifestation caused by mutations in
tumor suppressor, TSC1/2, such as: facial hamartomas and RCC. Although FLCN is
predicted to be a tumor suppressor, the exact function of FLCN still remains
unknown.
FLCN expression is conserved throughout the eukaryotic system and is known to
have binding partners, folliculin interacting proteins (FNIP) 1 and 2. FNIP1/2
interacts with AMP activated proteinkinase (AMPK), a direct energy sensor and
negative regulator of mTOR, suggesting FLCN s role in AMPK and TOR signaling.
Moreover, mammalian cells with reduced expression of FLCN resulted in
concomitant reduction of TORC1 activity, strengthening FLCN s probable role in
TOR signaling.
Target of rapamycin (TOR) is a major signaling complex that coordinates intracellular
inputs with cellular growth. TOR is composed of two complexes, namely TORC1 is
the master regulator coordinating amino acid availability to anabolic processes
required for cell growth and maintenance. High amino acid levels
Code Of Ethics And Professional Conduct
Review of the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of BIP
The Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct (CEPC) has been formulated on the
basis of article 44, 45, 46, 47 of BIP constitution, to secure the rights and benefits of
the Planners community in Bangladesh. CEPC not only provide guidance and
support to the members of BIP on their lead in the professional field but also offers
assurance to the client who avails the services of Planners. Members have the
opportunity to express their opinion about professional affairs and CEPC; the
Executive Committee will pay attention for definite valid reason. The CEPC is not
rigid it may be amended for professionalism according to the bylaws of the Institute
constitution.
The whole CEPC is separated into three parts. The first part is about Principles and
Responsibilities, second part is Financial Matters for Trade and Service and the final
part is about Procedure of Inquiry Disciplinary Action.
Principles and Responsibilities
Principles and responsibilities are also categorized into four different aspects like
responsibility to the public, responsibility to clients and employers, responsibility to
the profession and colleagues and obligation to colleagues.
In the section of responsibility to the public said that Planners obligation is to serve

Women Don t Ask: Negotiation and the Gender Divide is an informational book
great for males and females. This book is overflowing with statistics and studies done
on men and women, and how gender influences whether or not they negotiate. It
provides real life examples of negotiation differences between the genders. The
authors also give solutions, and tries to push women to start asking for what they
want and need.
Women today are expected to play so many different roles than in the past. Women
are now bosses, coworkers, wives, and mothers, taking part in the work force more
than ever before. Many women also have to support their family alone due to the 40
50 percent divorce rate.

male graduate students were teaching their own courses, while the female students

Capital Reconstruction
Capital Reconstruction
Introduction:
The act of placing a company into voluntary liquidation and then selling its assets to
another company with the same name and same stockholders, but with a larger
capital base.
It is the complete overhaul of the capital of a distressed company to save it from
liquidation. The object of it is to enable the company to continue as a going concern
by the removal of the burden of immediate debt, the attraction of additional capital
and the creation of a viable financial structure.
Definition:
The reconstruction of capital, which is also known as capital reconstruction, is

debt holders).
Reconstruction Schemes
This addresses the 2nd and 3rd points above. This involves the company * Writing
off overdue debt interest and restructuring debt to have lower interest and extended
maturity * Writing off cumulative preference shares dividend owed * Writing off
amounts owed to suppliers * Issuing new shares (crediting equity reserves) to the
previous debt holders, preference shares holders, suppliers for accepting to restructure
the debts.
Essentially debt holders convert to being equity holders, possibly retaining a lower
debt amount. This allows them to recover their funds through the company s
recovery, as opposed to not recovering their funds when the company collapses.
Liquidation via a New Company
This involves: * Selling assets to another company * Using the proceeds to pay down
remaining debts, and liquidating the business.
* Profit recognized is based on proceeds less carrying costs of remaining net assets. *
The buyer of the assets will still recognize Goodwill based on the fair value of the
assets bought.

which this can happen: increases/decreases
Importance of Self-Esteem
Self esteem is an important part of life. Without strong self esteem we are not at
our full potential. We need strong self esteem to have the confidence to do many
tasks. The way others perceive us has an effect on our self esteem as well as how we
perceive ourselves. In order to have good self esteem, we need others to be
encouraging and communicate in a positive way. We also need to build our own self
esteemby realizing we need to be our self, not what others necessarily think we
should be. Negativity from others only lowers our self esteem and makes us less
confident. We need confidencein order to communicate well with others.
As I ponder on my self esteem, I feel I am very confident in most areas but really
lacking in others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having the confidence to speak in front of others is an obstacle that I cannot seem to
overcome.
Being able to communicate well helps one to build self esteem. I feel my problem
with lack of confidence when speaking or communicating is due to lack of
communicating and voicing my opinion at a younger age. At the time I was growing
up, youngsters were not expected to give their opinions to their peers. My grandfather

The Occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains
The Occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains
In his collection of criticism on Poe s stories, Thompson discusses the use of the
occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains. He begins the article by explaining that
this story might be the product of Poe s fascination with, but detached attitudes
toward, the pseudoscientific occultism of his age. He gives us some technical terms
for the techniques that Poe uses in this story: metempsychosis is the transmigration
of souls, and is the word that surfaces frequently throughout this discussion of
Ragged Mountains. First Thompson discusses the idea that Poe set up the tale in a
very specific way; as he puts it, Poe himself wove a web for the purpose of unraveling
. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Thompson quotes Sidney E. Lind s ideas on the story. Lind believes that
this is not really a realistically handled tale of the supernatural, but ... a
psychological tale based on the possibilities of occult science. Basically, he is
suggesting that Poe is merely speculating about what his readers might want to read,
and is not really writing a tale based on his beliefs of the supernatural.
Thompson then goes on to say that Lind discusses Ragged Mountains as an
ambiguous but simple hoax. All of the characters in the story are deceived, as is the
reader of the tale if he misses the clues and takes the psychological tale as a
supernatural one. Poe has written the tale as a psychological thriller, not an eerily
spooky, other worldly story. Also supporting this idea of the story being a hoax is
the fact that there are numerous similarities between this story and one by Charles
Brockden Brown titled Edgar Huntley. The coincidences are too numerous to
mention, but they are easily seen if one reads both of the story. By almost
plagiarizing this tale, Thompson claims that Poe is burlesquing, even parodying,
Edgar Huntley. It appears as if Thompson is trying to suggest that this is not really a
serious story. One final, interesting note is the presence of the hyena in the story.
Where Edgar Huntley uses panthers in his story, Poe has used a hyena running
The Controversy Over Equity Method
Over the years, there are many controversies over equity method within IAS 28
Investments in Associates and Joint Ventures. The controversies basically lay on the
vagueness of application on equity method; whether it serves as one line
consolidation (consolidation technique), measurement basis or a mixture of both.
This paper divides into 3 parts. First part gives an illustration on this accounting
issue in IAS 28 as well as the explanation, second part compares and contrasts the
financial reports of two assigned entities and the final part discusses the qualitative
characteristics of their financial reports. Part 1 Accounting Issue This issue started to
arise when IASB was developing IFRS 11 Joint Arrangements. The IASB have
decided to remove the option to apply proportionate consolidation to jointly
controlled entities that existed under IAS 31 Interests in Joint Ventures and this has
widened the scope of equity method under IFRS (European Financial Reporting
Advisory Group, 2014). Since then the IASB has been doing research project on
equity method of accounting and considering various requests for guidance through
narrow scope amendments to IAS 28. Hence, Exposure Drafts has been published.
They have addressed the diversity in practice. However, these proposed amendments
are lacked of a clear conceptual basis and they were inconsistent with each other. They
found out that components of consolidation techniques and measurement basis exist
in IAS 28 and there is no

a tire was flat and halting the trip to fix the flat without checking the other tires to

major factors that prevented the system from working was the insistence that
everyone had to create a unique identification in the system so that the system

applicants to browse the offerings before creating an application, the system would
not have had so many applications in a started pending completion status (Heusser

people were going to sign up for insurance who had never had insurance before

The Norman Conquest By Marc Morris, The Narrative Of
The...
The Norman Conquest by Marc Morris is a narrative of the Norman invasion of
1066. Since the events happened so long ago, there are many incomplete accounts of
the events. Even these incomplete accounts are usually heavily biased. As such, it is
a difficult undertaking for a historian to construct a cohesive summary of the period.
Nevertheless, Marc Morris attempted the task, and did an admirable job. It is written
as a narrative, but has enough detail to satisfy a student of history. Morris begins by
exploring the history of one of the few sources that remain of the Norman invasion,
the Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry has had a long history of trading hands and
escaping harm seemingly miraculously. According to Morris, the Bayeux tapestry
has survived looting in the French Revolution, was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte
for a time, and was stolen by Nazis during their occupation of France in World War
II. Aside from its own fascinating history, the tapestry itself is not a flawless source.
Morris points out that it is in fact incomplete, as it abruptly stops at Harold
Godwinsons death. It was also in part copied from older accounts of the invasion
and therefore is not a primary source. It is also non committal in its portrayal of
events and the captions are for the most part willfully obscure or ambiguous (p. 4).
In other words, it seems intended more to be a narrative than as a factual historical
record. Exact dates are often not given for important events, such as the
Secret Santa Research Paper
The Most Popular Secret Santa Gifts
The tradition of giving anonymous gifts at Christmas has its roots in Scandinavia,
where Secret Santa is known as Julklapp. This word is a compound of Jul (which
means Christmas ) and Klapp , which means knocking. In Scandinavian countries,
tradition dictates that a person knocks loudly on the door, opens the door and throws
the gift into the room or otherwise leaves it behind without being seen.
Secret Santa events during the Christmas period have developed their own culture and
rules. These naturally depend on the variation on Secret Santa that applies. For
instance, Secret Santa raids have different rules from Trashy Secret Santas and
different rules again than Secret Santa flash mobs. Every form
What Is Henry Knox s Role In The Civil War
Henry Knox was a military officer of the Continental Army. He was born and raised in
Boston, Massachusetts. Henry owned and operated a bookstore there, cultivating an
interest in military history. When the American Revolutionary War broke out in
1775, he befriended General George Washington. After that he quickly rose to
become the chief artillery officer of the Continental Army. In this role he
accompanied Washington on most of his campaigns. He also had some involvement
in many major actions of the war. Henry set up training centers for artillerymen and
manufacturing facilities for weaponry that were valuable assets.
Henry was admitted to the Boston Latin School. This is where he studied Greek,
Latin, arithmetic, and European history. Since Henry was the oldest son still at

The genial giant initially enjoyed reasonable pecuniary success, but his profits
slumped after the Boston Port Bill and subsequent citywide boycott of British
goods. In 1772 he cofounded the Boston Grenadier Corps. This happened as an
offshoot of The Train. It later served as its second in command. Shortly before his
23rd birthday Knox accidentally discharged a shotgun, shooting two fingers off his
left hand. He managed to bind the wound up and reach a doctor, who sewed the
wound up.
Knox supported the Sons of Liberty, an organization of agitators against what they
considered repressive British colonial policies. It is unknown if he participated in
the 1773 Boston Tea Party. We do know that he did serve on guard duty before the

The Veldt Analysis
As technology is advancing, it is ruining our reputations and everyday lives
because we use it too much. The Veldt by Ray Bradbury is a story of parents who
use too much technology to spoil their two kids which rely on technology and use it
to kill their own parents. The Atlantic is an article on how technology has changed
the concept of the community and how it affects people s daily lives in mostly
negative ways. In both sources, humans rely on technology too much, having a
negative effect. In both sources, technology has a negative effect of people being too
reliant on it. George says he is going to shut off the nursery and when Peter responds,
it shows the amount of technology the family uses on a daily basis: That sounds

Analysis Of The Other Wes Moore
There s a theory where any given person has infinite paths of life. For every action
there is a new path, and the paths keep dividing and extending, each one having
new sets of outcomes and opportunities for the person to encounter. The book The
Other Wes Moore, by Wes Moore, is a philosophically interesting book as it talks
about these paths. Two boys named Wes Moore grew up in similar situations, yet
their actions led to them going on two different paths, leading to two completely
different lives. The book gives some insight into how these two Wes actions as
youth led them on their paths. One theme occurring in the text was chances, and
specifically second chances, which shaped Wes and Wes throughout their youth.
While both Wes got their first and second chances, they each treated them
differently. Thesis: How each Wes viewed their second chances changed the
outcome of the situation. XXX Wes Moore, the author of the book, decided to
take his second chance and fully use it by changing his attitude and motives. Wes
had just tried to escape from his army camp for the second time and failed. He
went to see the Cadet Captain, whose way of getting respect was something new to
him. Wes writes: In spite of myself, I was impressed. I had never seen anything like
that before. I had never seen a man, a peer, demand that much respect from his
people. I had seen Shea demand respect in the neighborhood, but this was different.
This was real respect, the kind you can t beat out of
The Role Of The Holy Spirit In The Trinity

The Role of The Holy Spirit in The Trinity Often, Christians do not try to understand
the Trinity, as it seems impossible to understand. However, there are benefits to
studying each holy member. Understanding the Trinity is necessary and practical for
members of the Christian faith, because the Trinity helps us to understand how the
Godhead the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit relate to one another and work in
this world. The Holy Spirit is easily the least well known part of the trinity. For this
paper, my aim is to study the role of the Holy Spirit in the Trinity, so that I can
understand His role in the Godhead, for the purpose of appreciating and loving God
more.
The Holy Spirit Is God In the Christian faith, there is one existing God, fully
manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Every unit of
the God head is equally God, and fully God. Each member is identical in quality
and essence, yet each has a distinct, personal expression of divine nature. In an
article about family ministry, Bruce A Ware calls it, not merely an equality of kind
but what might be called an equality of identity. However, before we can dive into
the role of The Holy Spirit in the trinity, we must find scriptural evidence which
verifies that The Holy Spirit is, in fact, God. The following scriptures are biblical
evidence for The Holy Spirit s deity. In Acts 5:3 4, Ananias and Sapphira sell their
property,
The Holy Spirit Essay
The Holy Spirit
Paul talks lot about the Holy Spirit and the role that He plays in peoples lives in
Romans 8:3 17. His main point though, is that there is a very distinct difference
between people of the flesh and people of the Spirit. If the Spirit of God is alive in
a person, then that person is alive because they died to sin. However, if the Spirit is
not in a person then they are dead. The people of the Spirit and the people of the
Flesh are completely opposite from one another, according to Paul in this passage.
In verse 4 Paul talks about how before we came to know Christ, we were
continually defeated by sin. When we came to know Him and to receive the
indwelling Holy Spirit, we were able to attain a standard we could ... Show more

Can t the Spirit bring life with us not being at peace with God at first? In verse 8,
Paul talks about how those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Morris says
that, Paul is still concerned that those whose interests are earth bound cut
themselves off from fellowship with God and the blessings that follow...to be
wholly involved in this life is to make it impossible to please God, (Morris, 308).
Morris is right here, by what Paul is saying, we have to believe that it is impossible to
please God if we revolve our live around ourselves and the world. Morris defines In
the Spirit as the means of how a believer lives a bodily life as all people do, but
they aren t characterized by it and they don t belong to it . Even though Christians
are part of this world because of their sin, they do not have to belong to it. In verse
9, Paul talks about the believers living very close to God and how that is so
important in a believer s life. Morris talks about how when anyone is in Christ that
their body is not supreme and it is possible to take the words in this passage to
mean that their body is dead, completely overcome. Morris gets this from when
Paul talks in verse 10 of Spirit in you and Christ in you . Morris then goes on to say
The Spirit in you is impossible without Christ in you . In verse 11, Paul talks about
being raised up by Christ through the Spirit. According to Morris, the Spirit doesn t

African American Dance In The Early 1800s
Throughout the world, there have been several different dances created and
people do not fully know the origins of the dances. For example, the twist was
created by Chubby Checker in the 60s. There have been several different ways to
show the rhythmic ability as a whole and the most different thing that people were
doing was several different ways of dancing. In the late 1700s and the early 1800s,
African Americans were starting to do different dances as a whole. However, they
were not fully called as a danceor as they were referred to as contra dances, reels, and
jigs when the cadence was called out. The difference was when there was a change in
general if there was no cadence, then the African Americans would be dancing.

Lilo And Stitch Character Analysis
Lilo and Stitch Lilo s ordinary world is in Hawaii and stitch s ordinary world is
that he was made as experiment 626 13:16. Lilo and Stitch is a Disney which was
aimed for kids but the author used Campbell s technique to give a better
understanding of the story not only for kids. This justifies that hero s are not

created based on the mono myths helped show that the Hero s journey is ambiguous.
The odyssey was an overall heroic theme with a splash of patriarchy added to show

Since winter temperatures have increased much faster than summer temperatures, it
would seem to line up well with Americans preferences. On a county by county
basis they found, using their WPI scale, that in the past 40 years the average mean
WPI score has increased, meaning over time people are living in more and more
preferable weather. Next, they calculated that approximately 80% of people live in
counties where the weather has improved. (Egan and Mullin, 2016) Lastly, Mullin
and Egan discuss the problems with the perceived comfort of Americans and how this
comfort will change. Climate models show that the trend of smaller increases in
summer temperatures, and higher increases in winter temperatures of the past 40
years will soon reverse. Using their WPI data and two separate scenarios for
Americans future by 2099, they calculated how pleasant the weather will most

71% of American counties would experience a decrease in WPI score. In the
second scenario they calculated if greenhouse emissions were left unabated by 2100,

architecture work.
The Phase offers a flawless Architecture work statement which is a set of programs
to be developed that will be delivered in iteration the ADM. This phase A also
delivers the vision of the recommended enterprise architecture.
The steps of phase A are about turning the request for architecture into a documented
Architecture work statement and make sure the enterprise is willing to change its
architecture. This includes establishing the architecture project, defining its scope,
and confirming and elaborating architecture and business principles. This phase
identifies the stakeholders, their requirements and business goals from the

A Drawing is a Line Going to a Walk
What is Drawing?
A drawing is simply a line going for a walk. Paul Klee (Klee, 2010)
Drawing is to create a picture, image or diagram with a pencil or pen by making
lines or marks on a piece of paper or other material. The common theory I have found,
after questioning several people on what their definition of drawing was, is that
drawing is a method to convey feelings or emotions onto a piece of paper, using a
pencil or pen so that others can see what they are thinking or feeling. This is correct
but is this the only way drawing is used?
Drawing has a vast variety of descriptions as to what they thought drawing was it

Drawing as movement implies that individual drawings are put together as frames,
and create something new and different from each individual drawing. It is
fundamentally different from the other three types of drawing, as it develops through
time therefore clarifying that drawing is a important piece of the animation process.
Most animations being with a script and therefore a storyboard is created, allowing
changes to be made before the next stage of sketching characters and scenes and of
course space. Applying Aesthetics touches can be done which are fundamentally
important as to the look and feel of the final animation. From this cells can be
drawn upon in order of sequence to be filmed and animated. Of course if a 3 D
program is to be used to finalise the animation then the concluding part of drawing
onto cells would not occur and the drawing portion of the animation would terminate
here.

What You Pawn I Will Redeem
One of the most important literary elements in every story is the use of setting. The
time and place of a story plays a key role in the readers understanding of the piece. In
some stories though, the setting is more important than in others. In the story, The
Appropriation of Cultures, by Percival Everett the story would have a much different
effect if the setting changed. In Sherman Alexie s story, What You Pawn I Will
Redeem, the setting could change in multiple ways and we would still be reading a
great story.
The Appropriation of Cultures, is a story based in the south about a man who takes it
upon himself to destroy the negative connotation of the Confederate flag to African
Americans. Slavery and racism have always been a much larger issue in the south
than in the north. The story tells us that Daniel, the main character, spent ... Show

The Appropriation of Cultures, is set in a time period where racism and
segregation were very high. When Daniel buys the truck from the white family
you see their confusion with him breaking through racism. Daniel said, I was just
lucky enough to find a truck with the black power flag already on it. (p.28) He is
referring to the Confederate flag as the black power flag and Travis and Barb are
shocked that he is not letting the negative connotation of the flag impact him.
Later in the story Daniel is being questioned about the flag on the back of his truck
by some white men, when a few young black men come to see what the problem is.
Daniel tells them that, They were admiring our flag. (p.29) The element of racism
and segregation is very important in the story and it wouldn t be the same had the
story been in a different time period. The story wouldn t have made sense had it
been before the Civil War because there would be no confederate flag to right about.
Setting is crucial to a story because the details of where and when make it
Compare And Contrast In The Grove And The Return Of

Throughout this semester we read numerus of text relating to this semester enduring

with this question in hand I would like to us two text to explore this question. The
first text being In the Grove, by Akutagawa the second text being The Return of

multiple stories hence what do we know and how do we know what is true form
who is telling us these things. The different tales we hear in both stories
exemplifies different methods for pursing knowledge. The Return of Martin
Guerre by Natalie Zemon Davis we hear a tale of a man named Arnaud du Tilh
who takes advantage of a village with a long lost man by the name of Martin
Guerre. The village was overwhelmed with joy to see that Martin had returned the
towns people over looked the difference in his appearance then what he looked like
when he had left. The village had believed him because he had told the stories they

court is also trying to use their knowledge from what they have just heard to make

scientists classify octopuses, squid, cuttlefish and nautiluses, can change color

those camouflage techniques don t work, they can still disappear in a cloud of ink,
which they use as a smoke screen or decoy. (Wood,2017) This species is common

Octopuses and squids can swim in any direction and can alter their course quickly.
Squids use fins located on their heads to propel themselves when swimming at low
speeds. These fins steer and stabilize the squids when moving slowly, and wrap
around the body when they move quickly, by way of jet propulsion. Most octopuses
do not have fins as adults. Some deep water octopuses are exceptions. (Octopuses
Squids,n.d)
How do octopuses and squids reproduce? The male octopus uses a specialized arm
called a hectocotylus to transfer sperm to the mantle cavity of a receptive female.
The female lays strings of fertilized eggs on the roof of her den. She guards, cleans
and aerates the eggs with water expelled from her siphon until hatching. This can
be anywhere from 30 days to a year, depending on the species. The female may
build a wall of rocks to seal off the den and will remain in the den until just before
she dies, after the eggs have hatched. Squids often mate in large groups, and attach
their egg capsules to the ocean floor or to seaweed. Most adult octopuses and squid
die after reproducing. Their bodies are recycled in the food web, nourishing other
animals, and ultimately providing food for their young when they hatch. (Octopuses
The Depth of Diction in Richard Hayden’s Those
Winter Sundays
When reading a poem it is important to understand that the chosen diction possesses
more depth beyond what is literally meant. Information hidden beneath metaphorical
verses serves to not only give insight into the writers thinking process, but also to
communicate with readers. Richard Hayden s, Those Winter Sundays, serves as a
poetic narrative describing the actions taken by a father to ensure his family s well
being. Hayden s modern sonnetgenerates multiple concepts of love, sacrifice and
regret which assist the reader in understanding the limitless capacity of someone s
devotion and the recipients of this affection lack of gratitude. The title of any given
work of literature is always significant to the author s meaning and intent of the
work. Hayden meticulously inserts an emotional symbolism in the title of the poem
which already opens the reader s eyes to the incoming melodramatic nostalgic mood
of the poem. Reading the title as a whole, one will assume that because the words are
in past tenseform, the work will have a reminiscent feel to it. Nevertheless, when the
words are broken down and analyzed individually, more information about its
meaning can be derived. Firstly, the wordthose from the title serves a dual purpose.
On one level, those illustrates distance which will possibly allude to the speakers
distance with his father during childhood. Secondly, being that the word is pluralized,
the use of those in the title also suggests something that is

Hwang Jung min is rapidly becoming the next Kang Ho song (or Choi Min shik if

Veteran, The Wailing, and others, due to his prowess in acting. In this particular
film, he plays a character that justifies the title from the start, being quite violent as
a prosecutor. However, his role is not much demanding, and in that fashion, he
does have the chance to show his multilayered talent. Gang Dong won (The Priests,
The Secret Reunion) on the other hand, is a former model, who owes most of his
popularity to his looks rather than his acting talent. Lee Il hyeon took advantage of
the fact, drawing Chi won as a cocky ladies man, whose beauty and charm is

Furthermore, the scene that he is dancing with some older women is the funniest in

Dicken Case Study
Dicken s wants to grow his business and build a larger customer base. He has
thought about several different options. His first option builds retention in his 14
15 year old customer base by developing a targeted program. Developing a new
program is a great idea. This is because at this age kids are involved in other
activities making them less focused on competitive soccer. Dickens should design a
program that does not involve competition and is purely recreational. The program
should meet once a week in order to have an easy and stress free commitment. The
program should focus on fun scrimmages and teach the fundamentals of teamwork
and communication, with less focus on tactile skills such as ball work. While form is

He may not want to address all of them at the same time though. This way he can
focus on getting each one right and so he won t overload himself with clients he
can t handle. He might want to consider applying option one and three, first. This
because they are the simplest, and have great potential to bring in more customers.
It will add quality to his product. Adding a recreational teens program, an after
school program, and a birthday party program addresses a wide variety of soccer
playing customer segments (the competitive, the recreational, the exercise
segment). Once he has this finalized, he should begin merchandising. It might only
be worth merchandising if Dicken s can bring in more customers. This is why he
should begin with option one and three. Finally option four should be done last
because if he figures out new ways to capture customers in his own town, he may
not need to take on new markets. Also he should test his new programs out on his
loyal and already informed market first. This way if the program goes bad, there
will be less damage done and it will be easier to win over these customers versus the
ones that don t know Dickens and his company. With these newly added programs
Dickens should ensure is team is well trained and encouraged to ensure standard in
his company. Most importantly, Dicken s should do market research before
Analysis Of Letter By Gordon Adams
This analysis is set to discuss a letter written by Gordon Adams. He is a student at
Arizona State University and wants to become a lawyer. However, he finds he must
take mathematics courses, specifically college algebra, to graduate and move on into
law school. He claims that he does not need to take college algebrabecause he does
not needit in his profession and because if he takes the course, it will delay him into
law school. We follow him through his endeavor with ASU s mathematics committee
to try to waive his requirement for college algebra. However, he fails at this task and,
with every argument, you can t always get what you want in return. Rhetorically, I
think his argument to the committee is a good way to write an argument, at least in
my opinion. He asks the questionWhy do I need college algebra? (Adams 19). I can
relate to this as many of us in today s society are in college and we look at our
degree requirements and think Why do I have to take this class to ourselves. In
Adams case he only has the benefit of a ninth grade education. (Adams 18). It is
clear that he needs algebra, but he tries to exempt himself from this requirement. He
contacts friends that are attorneys and they say that there are no courses in his
profession that even require algebra or more specifically, college algebra (20).
Adams writes I consulted Mr. Jim of the Justice College and presented this question
to him. He referred to the current ASU catalog and delineated the

The Army uses Army Regulation (AR) 380 5, Department of the Army Information

include training on a continuous basis, ensuring that personnel records are up to

They once brought me to a stock exchange to watch how all the values change in

Does Shakespeare Matter In The 9th Grade Curriculum
Does Shakespeare really matter in the 9th grade curriculum? There are not birth
records for Shakespeare, but he was baptized at the Holy Trinity Church.
Shakespeare should not be taught in the 9th grade curriculum because his stories

The Character Analysis Of Joseph Campbell s Cathedral
You never know what s going on in someone else s life until you put yourself in
their shoes. Thus, to judge is ignorance. Cathedral, by Raymond Carver is a story
that depicts the process of transforming an individual from an unfamiliar, ignorant
being into an educated soul. From the very beginning, the narrator shows his loathe
for Robert but over the course of the story eases into comfort with him and learns a
lesson from the very one he despised. According to Joseph Campbell s definition the
narrator in Cathedral, is an anti hero. He is an inglorious character who is particularly
jealous and close minded toward a blind man. Despite showing negative
characteristics, provoking insecurities, and blindness, he overcomes his ego that
separates him from the rest of the world. Furthermore, the narrator is a flawed
character who only wants to please his wife while not giving up what he wants.
Even though he is not literally blind, he displays a lack of insight that makes him
blinder than Robert. He has realized that he can never escape his character, so he
has chosen to embrace it. However, the narrator faces a call to adventure, when a
blind man is coming to stay in his home. This challenge symbolizes the death of the
narrator and rebirth as the hero. For example, he must overcome his self centered
needs to sacrifice for the greater good, which in essence is the hero. The narrator tries
to be understanding of Robert and his blindness but
Summary Of Angela Liddel
Angela Liddel stares forlornly out of the window in the limousine. Movies and
novels often romanticize boarding school, but the concept is daunting to the
sixteen year old. The Atlantic Ocean is rather unimpressive; nothing like she d
expected, and so far feels general disappointment amid arriving at Madame LeFoux
s Academy for Exemplary Young Ladies. Angela wasn t certain what she was
expecting, but this certainly wasn t it. She treks up the steps to the large mansion,
uncertain of what would come next. Angela takes a deep breath, and sounds the
large lion head knocker, and the door swings open. Hello? Angela calls out, but
there is no response. She decides to search for the headmistress s office so that she
might become more acquainted with the building. As she turns a corner she
collides with a petite woman. Pardon me, darling. She says, picking up her
pocketbook from the ground. As she returns to standing, she sees Angela clasping
on to her suitcase for dear life. This must be the new student, Miss Liddel. The
woman murmurs to herself. Her chestnut brown eyes smile fondly down at the
student. Yes, it s Angela Liddel. The girl says uncertainly, Who might you be?
Pleased to make acquaintances Miss Liddel, darling, I am Headmistress Ariadne
LeFoux, but you may simply call me Madame. I am the headmistress. If you d like
to follow me, let s begin by giving you a tour of these grounds. The woman s grin is
startling, as she doesn t seem the type to smile very often. The headmistress leads
Angela to the dining hall, and as they approach the room, Madame pauses before
throwing the double doors open. The dining hall is vast, with long wooden benches
and identical long tables fill the room. It s a grand room, and ornate in style. What
sort of classes are available? Angela asks, even more disappointed. This school
intends to teach stuffy rich girls how to embroider and keep house. A highly unusual
education is in store for you, Miss Liddel, darling. We specialize in more...
investigative skills and covert operations. Madame LeFoux replies, eying Angela s
reaction cautiously. Pardon, Madame. I don t understand... This is spy school?
Angela asks, utterly dumbfounded, I thought that your
Interpersonal Violence Against Women
We as a societal whole must come together to end the interpersonal violence against
women not just at home but in the world. Waiting to patch up the problem after the
abuse happens is not how we will stop the violence to begin with you have to start
at the source of the problem to fix it. In a world dominated by patriarchy it is seen
as weak to speak out against the violenceof women if you are a male. Even in
Hollywood, we see so many images of rape, abuse, and violence against womenas
completely normal but when the abuse occurs to animals it is an outrage. We have to
move from bandaging the wound to curing the disease of interpersonal violence
against women. One problem that our society deals with is our media induced fear or

Narrative Voice In Stand By Me
Stand By Me plummets us into a world of four naГЇve and rebellious children on the
brink of adolescence as they expand their world, discover themselves and find
where their friendships and loyalties lie. The gang consists of Gordie Lachance
(Wil Wheaton), Chris Chambers (River Pheonix), Teddy Duchamp (Corey
Feldman) and Vern Tessio (Jerry O Connell) and with some outstanding acting, we
find ourselves in the shoes of Gordie as he recounts his past. After recently finding
out about the untimely demise of his best friend Chris, we are taken back in time to
when he was twelve going into thirteen when I first saw my first dead human being
as the narrative voice puts it. As Gordie flashes back we are straight away taken into
a tree house where... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrative voice brings our attention to how small their world is when Gordie
says we lived in Castle Rock, but to us, it was the whole world which is
representing him looking back and explaining how life has changed. This notion
of discovering a new world returns at the end of the film when again, the narrative
voice says we were only away for two days but it felt like the small town we lived
in had changed and it is trying to convey how much people can change in just a
small amount of time, and it is reinforced by the idea of the coming of age and how
time flies at such a young age. The movie puts these ideas in our heads with some
scenes that are placed throughout the movie with no connection to the plot but go
very deep into the characters. One of which is a scene where Gordie is sitting
peacefully on the train tracks and a young deer walks into view. This deer is
representing the man motif throughout the movie and how they are coming of age on
this journey because it symbolizes youth and innocence. The narrative voice then
enforces this by saying I didn t tell the others about the deer which shows that Gordie
was having a moment of understanding, which the others wouldn t think of the same
way, and what it
A Brief Summary Of Degenated Blood
The first main vessel that leaves the heart is the pulmonary artery and is the only
artery that carries de oxygenated blood and traveling through the lungs is then
oxygenated and returned to the heart by the pulmonary vein and that is the only vein
in the body to carry oxygenated blood. The now oxygenated bloodleaves from the
heartby the aorta and the splits to the carotid arteryalso known as the subclavian
artery to the arms and the thoracic artery. The carotid artery leads to smaller arteries,
arterioles and continuous capillaries around the arms and head and lead back to the
heart first through the fenestrated capillaries, venule and medium sized veins and
back to the largest vein that is called the jugular vein that is also known as
Buildfire Essay
Buildfire is a website that allows you to make a mobile application. It consists of
plugins such as Youtube, PDFViewer, and a WebView. There is a Folder plugin
that can hold multiple plugins on one page. This is a critical thing you understand
this because that is how you set the flow of the app. To make it work correctly you
will have folders inside of another folder. The first screen of the application uses the
Home plugin. This is is your main page of the application. The top of the screen
should have an image of the BarCrawl logo on it and below it say Welcome to

You need to have all the addresses for the bars. You will then add each bar as an
item in the plugin. You should have 12 items by the time you are done. You also
will want to go to the settings of Places plugin and change the default view to map
instead of list. The next plugin is a WebView plugin and it should be titled Bar
Managers. This plugin we will have to work with the user management side. You
can create tags which can be used to determine if a user can access something. We
do not want any non manager user to be able to access the file upload portion.
BuildFire has a user management tab when you can precreate users and tag them
with a bar manager tag. In the WebView plugin there is a tab called security and
you can require a user to have a certain tag to access the plugin. I made a tag called
bar manager and premade accounts for the bar managers. This will take them to
the upload file website. The final plugin is a Text WYSIWYG and should be titled

The Voyage of Christopher Columbus
American History I 07/08/05 Christopher Columbus Voyage to North America
Spanish exploration first began with a series of revolutions. First, the Commercial
Revolution generated economic stability. Second, the Intellectual Revolution
generated interest in the Earth s composition and the pursuit of exploration. Europe
then called for a political revolution to end the disorganized and disorderly rule of its
government. This revolution returned order and stability to the government and
renewed interest in exploration to search for national wealth. The last of these
revolutions was the religious revolution (note Columbus voyage occurred before this
revolution). As more people broke away from the national religion they searched for
a place... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Afterwards, Columbus then went to Lisbon, Spain a year later where he would
propose the voyage to King Ferdinand of Aragon and Queen Isabella of Castile.
When Columbus made a friend in Father Perez, it was a turning point for him. He
was able to gain support from converts who believed in his cause. Ferdinand and
Isabella were harder to convince, however. They found little interest in Columbus
curiosity as they were preoccupied with defending themselves against the Moors.
Later in 1491, Columbus again appears before Ferdinand and Isabella who
apparently liked and respected the determined seaman (38) 1. Although they had
admiration for Columbus, his plans for voyage were again rejected, partially
because of his request to titles and riches. It seems that Columbus gave but scant
and unsatisfactory information to the commission, probably through fear that his
ideas might be improperly made use of and he be robbed of the glory and
advantages that he expected to derive from his project (2) 2. But Columbus was
not yet discouraged, for he was a gentleman of great force and spiritВ…naturally
inclined to undertake worthy deeds and signal enterprisesВ… (21) 3. 1492 was a
successful year for the Spanish. On January 2, Grenada surrendered which freed
Spain of the foreign power that occupied the city for seven centuries (35) 1. When
Columbus was asked to march in the parade at Grenada he took it as an opportunity
to propose his voyage for a third time and

subsidiary of Comcast. The network is headquartered in the Comcast Building
(formerly known as the GE Building) at Rockefeller Center in New York City, with
additional major offices near Los Angeles (at Universal City Plaza) and in Chicago

Residential Building Sector
The residential building sector is one of the major energy consumers in North
America. It accounts for 17% of energy used in Canada, resulting in 70 megatons
(Mt) of annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Canada Mortgage and Housing
Corporation (CMHC) 2008). According to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan
2010a), 65% of residential energy consumption is attributed to space heating by
means of the primary fuel types, natural gasand electricity (Statistics Canada 2007).
Due to the importance of reducing energy consumption from limited energy sources
and minimizing environmental impacts, a number of energy efficiency measures
have emerged for Canadian residential buildings in recent years. Provincial and
national building energy codes have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this regard, Hamelin and Zmeureanu (2014) conducted a lifecycle cost analysis
(LCCA) in a single family home in QuГ©bec; they presented the optimum thermal
resistance value of building envelope that achieved the minimum lifecycle cost. The
insulation level of recommended design in their study was much higher than code
requirements. This is due to the fact that the lifespan of an actual house is quite long,
which provides a substantial energy savings from better insulation and would have
offset the additional initial cost in this case.
Given that cost is an important consideration in construction, this thesis aims to
identify energy efficient code compliant solutions for cold climates from a cost
efficiency point of view.
1.1 Energy Consumption in Canadian Residential Sector
According to NRCan (2010c), there are four types of dwellings in Canada: single
detached home (56%), apartment (31%), single attached home (11%), and mobile
home (2%). Figure 1 1 illustrates that residential buildings are the third largest
energy users in Canada after the industrial and transportation sectors, and that the
residential sector is also responsible for 17% of the total consumed energy (NRCan
2008b). Figure 1 1: Breakdown of Energy use by sector in Canada (NRCan
Color Purple Patriarchy
After closely analysing the text The Color Purple , written by Alice Walker, themes
such as a woman s low position within a patriarchal society and a woman s
awareness and perseverance to overcome these inequalities become evident. The
Color Purple is swift to establish the low position of Celie, an oppressed female,
within the patriarchy.
Bressler states that As a social movement, feminist criticism highlights the various
ways women in particular have been oppressed, suppressed, and repressed.
Oppression, suppression, and repression are three elements seen throughout the main
themes of the novel, The Color Purple . Set between 1910 to 1940 in rural Georgia,

her sensuality to persuade men into having an affair with her. After Shug and Celie

learn from each other, become stronger, and therefore accomplish many big things.
This is shown when Celie announces, But I m here . This is a significant moment in
the text as it shows that Celie has finally accepted herself and has the confidence to

Hamlet, By William Shakespeare
Among the most powerful and influential tragedies in English literature, William
Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, was written in the early 1600s. Set in the Kingdom of
Denmark, the protagonist, young prince Hamlet, is instructed by the ghostly figure of
his father to seek revenge on his uncle, Claudius. Hamlets father was murdered by
Claudius, who seized the throne after his death and married the queen, Hamlet s
mother. The occurring events possibly drive young Hamlet into madness. Madness
plays a major part in the play, Hamlet, but one could compare Hamlet s ability to
put on an act to the times when his true madness was shown. Ever since the death
of his father, young Hamlet has been in, what appeared to be, a state of madness.
Hamlet s goal is to seek revenge on his Uncle Claudius, so he makes it a part of his
objective to act like he has gone insane to distract the King. Hamlet tells his friend
Horatio about the plan on pretending to be a madman, How strange or odd soe er I
bear myself / (As I perchance hereafter shall think meet / To put an antic disposition
on), (Act I. Scene 5. Lines 195 197, 32). Hamlet s plan is presented in a
conversation between Polonius and Hamlet, when Hamlet says to Polonius, For if
the sun breed maggots in a dead dog, / being a god kissing carrion Have you a
daughter? (Act II. Scene 2. Lines 199 200, 46). Hamlet sporadically mocks Polonius
and asks him silly questions about having a daughter. However, Hamlet is fully aware
about Polonius
Quotes From Holes By Louis Sachar
Why would anyone would want to go to Camp Green Lake (Sachar 5). You will be
surprised that there is no lake at all. Where there was once a lake sits a dry, hot,
wasteland. Everyone has a different path to take in life. In the novel, Holes by Louis

obstacles. The main characterStanley, path to becoming a better person involves
climbing up a mountain, digging holes, and finding lost fortune. Stanley arrived at

scared that his weight would get him into some trouble with the other boys. When
Stanley was arrested he told the truth about what really happen with the shoes. One
hit me on the head ( 23). This quote demonstrates that Stanley is very truthful because
he told the truth at court. While at Camp Green Lake, Stanley was very insecure

If We Have Stood Up Against The Evil Thing Analysis
Being a neutral bystander helps those who are evil; that remaining silent
encourages even more evil to happen, this is a quote from Elie Wiesel. I agree with
this statement that by being a neutral bystander you are helping evil. To begin
with, if you had stood against the evils than there might have been a difference.
Stated in the passage Terrible Things, If we creatures had stuck together, it could
have been different. This proves that if the creatures had stood up for themselves
then what had happened would have been different. Also proven by this is that
some people wanted to stand up against the evils in their life, but peer pressure
prevented them from doing so. As stated in First They Came, Then they came for
me and there was no one to speak out for me. This shows that if he had stood up
against the evils when they came for other people than it would have different
because others would have stood out for him. Something that is also shown by this
is that the people were all scared of what the consequences that would come from
standing up for themselves. Therefore, if only people would have stood out against
the evils in their life then there would have been a different outcome. Secondly, if you
do not stand up against those evils then they will continue to do those evil things. As

Religion has influenced societies on an epic scale for millennia. Even the

1 Corinthians 13 Research Paper
One of the most common things that is celebrated is love. We have marriage
ceremonies centered around our love for our partner; we have special days such as
Valentine s Day to show our appreciation for others; and we have songs about our
loved ones. Almost all of the things we do are ways for humans to dedicate their life
to love. In the New International Version of the Bible love is stated about five
hundred and fifty times. One of the most memorable references of love in the Bible
is one that is commonly read at sacred marriage ceremonies and is frequently quoted
in captions on social media. The verse mentioned is 1 Corinthians 13. In verses one
through three of 1 Corinthians, it is said that without love we are worthless. For

Nash said that the very qualities of love that he [Paul] enumerated stood in clear
contrast to their [Corinthians] own behavior (Nash 386). This contrast can be true
to this day as well with most people finding language and knowledge more
important than love. Nash also believes that love is a way not a gift and the way
of love transcends the pursuit of individual fulfillment and leads to true
community (Nash 386). The main point that Nash was trying to get across what
that Paul showed a preference for verbs rather than adjectives in order to
enumerate the point that love is not simply a feeling; it is a lifestyle, love involves
action which is defined by the cross of Christ (Nash 386). The purpose of 1
Corinthians is for the audience to take action with God because of the love the
audience has for him. The audience is meant to be moved emotionally through love
so they can act upon that love for the better of the community. Love is the way to
become fulfilled and can be done perfectly through

Star Wars Essay. Rhetorical Critique of Star Wars Essay Example Topics and Well ...

  • 1. Star Wars Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Star Wars" can be quite challenging, primarily due to the immense scope and depth of the franchise. With over four decades of storytelling across various mediums including films, television series, books, comics, and video games, the task of condensing such a vast universe into a coherent and engaging essay can feel daunting. Firstly, there's the sheer amount of material to cover. From the classic themes of heroism, redemption, and the struggle between good and evil to the intricate world-building, complex characters, and philosophical underpinnings, "Star Wars" offers a wealth of content to analyze and discuss. Deciding which aspects to focus on and how to structure the essay to provide a comprehensive yet concise overview can be a formidable challenge. Moreover, the depth of the "Star Wars" universe means that there are countless avenues for exploration, from analyzing the mythological and archetypal elements to delving into the political allegories and cultural influences. Each film, TV series, and extended universe content adds layers of complexity and nuance, making it difficult to capture the full breadth of the franchise in a single essay. Furthermore, navigating the diverse opinions and interpretations within the fanbase can also present a challenge. "Star Wars" has a passionate and vocal fan community with a wide range of perspectives on various aspects of the franchise, including its themes, characters, and storytelling choices. Balancing personal analysis with an acknowledgment of differing viewpoints while maintaining an original argument can be demanding. In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of "Star Wars" offers a rich tapestry of themes, characters, and ideas to explore, it also presents significant challenges in terms of scope, structure, and navigating diverse interpretations. However, with careful planning, research, and a thoughtful approach, it is possible to craft a compelling and insightful essay that does justice to the complexity and depth of this iconic franchise. • 2. Analysis Of The Article Notes On A Politics Of Location... In Adrienne Rich s article Notes towards a Politics of Location, Rich argues that positionality is a way of understanding how power and privilege affect perspective. I am in agreement with Rich that recognizing one s own politics of location is a useful starting point for feminist theory. Rich s main arguments are that the US education system failed to provide an adequate retelling of world histories, that white feminism is ignorant of its privileges, and that through the awareness and inclusion of racial movements can feminist theory grow. I will also compare Rich s article to Simone de Beauvoir s first chapter, Biological Data from her book The Second Sex, and to Judith Butlers article Performative Acts and GenderConstitution: An Essay in Phenomenology and Feminist Theory. Lastly, I will explain how Rich s article is valuable to myself, to the WOMN 2000 Feminist Thought course, and in broader social contexts. Rich effectively argues that white feminism recreates the power structures feminism seeks to disassemble. Rich maintains that white feminism begins with the faulty US education system, or for this paper s purposes, the North American education system. Rich (1984) contends that Any United States citizen alive today has been saturated with...the warning that any collective restructuring of society spells the end of personal freedom....But we are not invited to consider the butcheries...of white supremacism (p. 220). The lack of perspective for North Americans
  • 3. Legal Analysis Of Dyson Dyson must employ customer life cycle assessments and consider environmental factors for product development and marketing to be successful. The company must engage in efficient manufacturing to limit energy use and waste, using a high percentage of recycling materials and promoting the responsible disposal of products at the end of the life cycle (Dyson, 2017). Some environmental factors may also be impacted by legal standards. A legal analysis of laws that protect the environment, in addition to customers, influence the business actions of Dyson and the internal regulations of the company. As Dyson continues to globalize, the legal environment will be dependent on legal regulations and procedures that protect society. Porter s Five Forces described by Michael Porter in his classic 1979 Harvard Business Review article gave tremendous insight that began a revolution in marketing strategy (President Fellows of Harvard College, n.d.). The Porter five forces continue to help companies like Dyson compete in competitive industries and aid them in being successful (President Fellows of Harvard College, n.d.). Well established rivals in the vacuum industry including Maytag, Hoover, Oreck, Kirby, and Bissell do exist and present a constant threat to the company. However, following an examination of the bargaining power that Dyson have in the market Dyson s decision to manufacture its products in the Far East allows operating and building costs to be minimized. These choices
  • 4. Moby Dick Influences Herman Melville wrote what would become one of America s greatest novels, Moby Dick, in 1851. The novel tells the story of a sailor, Ishmael, who joins a whaling ship captained by Captain Ahab, a man who is on the edge of Madness while he hunts for the giant sperm whale who took his leg. Before Herman Melville wrote Moby Dick, he had several occupations and experiences that influence his writing. As Melville grew up, he worked as a bank clerk, a teacher, a cabin boy for a merchant ship, and aboard a sailing ship. On a voyage aboard the whalingship, the Acushnet, Melville and a crewmate deserted near Polynesia, were captured by cannibals, escaped on a different whaling ship led by a mutiny, was jailed for the mutiny, and eventually escaped and arrived in Massachusetts 3 years later. Melville s literature was influenced by writers of his time, such as Nathaniel Hawthorne, and was also influenced by his earlier experiences in life. His experiences as a whaler, for example, inspired him to write novels like Moby Dick and Typee. During Melville s adventures, he heard rumors of a disaster that the Essex went through,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They felt that there was an unappreciated beauty in such things. The events that the crew went through were very dark and horrific, including the whale s attack, the crew members deaths, their starvation, their insanity, and when some crew members chose to commit suicide to provide food for the rest of the surviving crew. The crew also experienced mysterious and supernatural events, such as the whale s human like emotions. When the whale s mate was harpooned, he felt anger towards the crew and was determined to destroy them. The whale destroyed their ship and followed them for hundreds of miles to terrorize them. The whale also showed forgiveness when Chase decided not to harpoon him when given the
  • 5. John F Kennedy s Ethos Pathos Logos President John F. Kennedy was a very serious and powerful speaker when it came to addressing the people of the United States of America. In the early 1960 s the US economy was recovering from a tremendous recession. The steel companies had decided that they were going to raise their price of steel by 3 ВЅ percent. President Kennedy was not too thrilled when he found out what the steel companies were going to do. Since President Kennedy was an enormous supporter for stable prices in the nation, he wrote a speech with such powerful rhetoric appeals such as ethos, pathos, and logos to unify the people of the United Statesagainst the steel companies. President Kennedy also supported his appeals with the use of diction, tone, atmosphere, imagery, and evidence. President Kennedy showed the American public that he was credible and trustworthy by using the appeal of ethos. He supported his ethos appeal with diction and tone to reinforce it. Since JFK was the President of the United States he was considered by the American people a trustworthy man. President Kennedy showed the American people his authority along with that the situation was very serious. In the speech President Kennedy also used specific diction that got the American people to stand beside him in the battle with the steel companies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... President Kennedy used this appeal and complimented it with the atmosphere of the speech and the imagery. President Kennedy used imagery to give a picture to the audience so it could grab them emotionally. For example he tells you in lines (10 15) what is going on in Vietnam and how servicemen have to leave their homes and families for months to serve their country. He also said that one hundred thousand workers were out of jobs in the steel industry which you can picture. The Atmosphere of the speech was that President Kennedy was looking out for the American People and was angered by the steel
  • 6. Genesis 11 Mark Johnson Analysis Ever since the tower of Babel, people have endeavored to find a way to unite all humankind. In Genesis 11, the reason the world wished to stay united was to build a tower to heaven and defy God s command to fill the earth. Because of their disobedience, the Lord confused the languages of the workers so that they began to babble to one another. More recently, Mark Johnson has attempted to unite the world through music. As is indicated in several places throughout Johnson s interview with Bill Moyer s, Johnson s theme is that music changes lives by uniting people in song. This theme is summarized in Johnson s first words of the interview, I think music is the one thing that opens the door to bring people to a place where they are all connected.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Johnson said, We don t even know how long we re going to be in this world... The most important thing is while we re here, let s make a difference together. That s what Playing for Change is trying to represent. However, despite all his good intentions, Johnson completely leaves God out of the picture. He is an advocate for bringing hope to those in depression, but his hope is superficial. As Christians, our hope is Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ... We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God... And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us (Romans 5:1 2, 5). Playing for Change, while it has good intentions, would have a more effective goal if they endeavored to bring eternal hope instead of temporary hope. Unlike the tower of Babel, Johnson s mission is unity for the sake of unity, instead of unity to climb to heaven. As he travels the world, building schools and videoing musicians, Johnson s theme remains constant changing and uniting lives through music. His tenacity can be applied to any area of life as a lesson in perseverance, but especially in the field of writing. When a theme is so convicting that it is worth spending ten years to develop an idea, it is a theme worth writing
  • 7. The Evil Eye Among The Azande I.Introduction This extended essay will involve a comparison of ethnographic material from two case studies, E. E. Evans Pritchard s, Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic among the Azande (Oxford 1937) and V. Chryssanthopoulou s article on The Evil Eye among the Greeks of Australia: Identity, Continuity and Modernization , in J. C. B. Petropoulos (ed.), Greek Magic: Ancient, Medieval and Modern (Routledge 2008, pp. 106 118). The aim of this comparison will be to illustrate two different indigenous systems of knowledge and understanding of man s misfortune in the world as employed by the members of these societies. In particular, I shall be focusing on the beliefs and practices of these societies which surround notions of misfortune in everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when Pritchard paid the two different witchdoctors to teach his servant all their secrets, when he acknowledges that the custom is that the teachings have to be strictly confidential to someone who is particularly interested in proceeding his career as a witch doctor. In addition, woman s position in the Zande society is a very briefly mentioned aspect when on the contrary, Chryssanthopoulou being a female anthropologist, has a frequency to mention only claims of women about the Evil Eye. However; it might be the case that men among the Azande are more involved with witchcraft than women and respectively in reverse in the Castellorizian community. Also, Chryssanthopoulou is a follower of the Greek Orthodox Church that as mentioned above, accepts the Evil Eye concept. Finally, it should be mentioned that Evans Pritchard being a British studied the Azande when they were under a great change because of the British rule, but again the topic is only briefly mentioned in the ethnography. Evans Pritchard s work Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic among the Azande was the first ethnography that tried to understand the native s set of belief when in their own context and not through a Westerner s eye. It was him that first criticized and disposed of the thought that there existed a particularly primitive, prelogical mentality. His point was to investigate the interrelationships of thought and
  • 8. Systems Administration And Network Services 1.Goal After two labs focusing purely on the Linux side of systems administration and network services, this third lab puts Windows into the spotlight and how it deals with configuring services as compared to the previous RHEL based configurations. Many of the same tasks which were completed using a RHEL 7 virtual machine in lab 2, such as setting up DHCP and DNS, are repeated in this lab on a Windows 2012 Datacenter virtual machine. This is done not only to show the differences in service administration, but also to indirectly teach students the steps as well as precautions that need to be taken when integrating in different enterprise server operating system families which very well could be running the same network services, such as in the case of this lab. Instead of merely just installing the same services and letting the clients make decisions on what data to receive from who, this lab also presents the challenge of making these two very different operating systems work together when the time comes to configure the DNS server on the Windows VM. A major point I took away from this is that while the Microsoft and ISC implementation of a DNS server can be seen as widely different, the integration of the two is very smooth and easy due to both of them still following the base rules of the DNS protocol as well as framework found in the numerous RFC s which describe it. Active Directory, which is also installed on the server, was review at this point from multiple different

The Role Of Birt Hogg Dube ( Bhd ) Syndrome The Role of Folliculin in Amino Acid Sensing Specific Aims Birt Hogg DubГ© (BHD) syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant condition that s characterized by the development of benign skin tumors and lung cysts. Moreover, these manifestations increase patients risk to develop renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and/or pneumothorax. Germline mutations in the Folliculin (FLCN) gene are responsible for the onset of BHD, resulting in its loss of function. Furthermore, BHD clinical hallmarks are similar to the clinical manifestation caused by mutations in tumor suppressor, TSC1/2, such as: facial hamartomas and RCC. Although FLCN is predicted to be a tumor suppressor, the exact function of FLCN still remains unknown. FLCN expression is conserved throughout the eukaryotic system and is known to have binding partners, folliculin interacting proteins (FNIP) 1 and 2. FNIP1/2 interacts with AMP activated proteinkinase (AMPK), a direct energy sensor and negative regulator of mTOR, suggesting FLCN s role in AMPK and TOR signaling. Moreover, mammalian cells with reduced expression of FLCN resulted in concomitant reduction of TORC1 activity, strengthening FLCN s probable role in TOR signaling. Target of rapamycin (TOR) is a major signaling complex that coordinates intracellular inputs with cellular growth. TOR is composed of two complexes, namely TORC1 is the master regulator coordinating amino acid availability to anabolic processes required for cell growth and maintenance. High amino acid levels

This book is overflowing with statistics and studies done on men and women, and how gender influences whether or not they negotiate. It provides real life examples of negotiation differences between the genders. The authors also give solutions, and tries to push women to start asking for what they want and need. The Occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains The Occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains In his collection of criticism on Poe s stories, Thompson discusses the use of the occult in A Tale of the Ragged Mountains. He begins the article by explaining that this story might be the product of Poe s fascination with, but detached attitudes toward, the pseudoscientific occultism of his age. He gives us some technical terms for the techniques that Poe uses in this story: metempsychosis is the transmigration of souls, and is the word that surfaces frequently throughout this discussion of Ragged Mountains. First Thompson discusses the idea that Poe set up the tale in a very specific way; as he puts it, Poe himself wove a web for the purpose of unraveling . He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Thompson quotes Sidney E. Lind s ideas on the story. Lind believes that this is not really a realistically handled tale of the supernatural, but ... a psychological tale based on the possibilities of occult science. Basically, he is suggesting that Poe is merely speculating about what his readers might want to read, and is not really writing a tale based on his beliefs of the supernatural. Thompson then goes on to say that Lind discusses Ragged Mountains as an ambiguous but simple hoax. All of the characters in the story are deceived, as is the reader of the tale if he misses the clues and takes the psychological tale as a supernatural one. Poe has written the tale as a psychological thriller, not an eerily spooky, other worldly story. Also supporting this idea of the story being a hoax is the fact that there are numerous similarities between this story and one by Charles Brockden Brown titled Edgar Huntley. The coincidences are too numerous to mention, but they are easily seen if one reads both of the story. By almost plagiarizing this tale, Thompson claims that Poe is burlesquing, even parodying, Edgar Huntley. It appears as if Thompson is trying to suggest that this is not really a serious story. One final, interesting note is the presence of the hyena in the story. Where Edgar Huntley uses panthers in his story, Poe has used a hyena running

The controversies basically lay on the vagueness of application on equity method; whether it serves as one line consolidation (consolidation technique), measurement basis or a mixture of both. This paper divides into 3 parts. First part gives an illustration on this accounting issue in IAS 28 as well as the explanation, second part compares and contrasts the financial reports of two assigned entities and the final part discusses the qualitative characteristics of their financial reports. Part 1 Accounting Issue This issue started to arise when IASB was developing IFRS 11 Joint Arrangements. The IASB have decided to remove the option to apply proportionate consolidation to jointly controlled entities that existed under IAS 31 Interests in Joint Ventures and this has widened the scope of equity method under IFRS (European Financial Reporting Advisory Group, 2014). Since the events happened so long ago, there are many incomplete accounts of the events. Even these incomplete accounts are usually heavily biased. As such, it is a difficult undertaking for a historian to construct a cohesive summary of the period. Nevertheless, Marc Morris attempted the task, and did an admirable job. It is written as a narrative, but has enough detail to satisfy a student of history. Morris begins by exploring the history of one of the few sources that remain of the Norman invasion, the Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry has had a long history of trading hands and escaping harm seemingly miraculously. According to Morris, the Bayeux tapestry has survived looting in the French Revolution, was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte for a time, and was stolen by Nazis during their occupation of France in World War II. Aside from its own fascinating history, the tapestry itself is not a flawless source. Morris points out that it is in fact incomplete, as it abruptly stops at Harold Godwinsons death. It was also in part copied from older accounts of the invasion and therefore is not a primary source. It is also non committal in its portrayal of events and the captions are for the most part willfully obscure or ambiguous (p. 4). In other words, it seems intended more to be a narrative than as a factual historical record. Exact dates are often not given for important events, such as the

For every action there is a new path, and the paths keep dividing and extending, each one having new sets of outcomes and opportunities for the person to encounter. The book The Other Wes Moore, by Wes Moore, is a philosophically interesting book as it talks about these paths. Two boys named Wes Moore grew up in similar situations, yet their actions led to them going on two different paths, leading to two completely different lives. The book gives some insight into how these two Wes actions as youth led them on their paths. One theme occurring in the text was chances, and specifically second chances, which shaped Wes and Wes throughout their youth. While both Wes got their first and second chances, they each treated them differently. Thesis: How each Wes viewed their second chances changed the outcome of the situation. The Role Of The Holy Spirit In The Trinity Kayti Nelson Dr. Rex Koivisto TH307 Nov. 28 2017 The Role of The Holy Spirit in The Trinity Often, Christians do not try to understand the Trinity, as it seems impossible to understand. However, there are benefits to studying each holy member. Understanding the Trinity is necessary and practical for members of the Christian faith, because the Trinity helps us to understand how the Godhead the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit relate to one another and work in this world. The Holy Spirit is easily the least well known part of the trinity. For this paper, my aim is to study the role of the Holy Spirit in the Trinity, so that I can understand His role in the Godhead, for the purpose of appreciating and loving God more. The Holy Spirit Is God In the Christian faith, there is one existing God, fully manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Every unit of the God head is equally God, and fully God. Each member is identical in quality and essence, yet each has a distinct, personal expression of divine nature. In an article about family ministry, Bruce A Ware calls it, not merely an equality of kind but what might be called an equality of identity. However, before we can dive into the role of The Holy Spirit in the trinity, we must find scriptural evidence which verifies that The Holy Spirit is, in fact, God. The following scriptures are biblical evidence for The Holy Spirit s deity. In Acts 5:3 4, Ananias and Sapphira sell their property,

The Appropriation of Cultures, is a story based in the south about a man who takes it upon himself to destroy the negative connotation of the Confederate flag to African Americans. Slavery and racism have always been a much larger issue in the south than in the north. The story tells us that Daniel, the main character, spent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Appropriation of Cultures, is set in a time period where racism and segregation were very high. When Daniel buys the truck from the white family you see their confusion with him breaking through racism. Daniel said, I was just lucky enough to find a truck with the black power flag already on it. (p.28) He is referring to the Confederate flag as the black power flag and Travis and Barb are shocked that he is not letting the negative connotation of the flag impact him. Later in the story Daniel is being questioned about the flag on the back of his truck by some white men, when a few young black men come to see what the problem is. Daniel tells them that, They were admiring our flag. (p.29) The element of racism and segregation is very important in the story and it wouldn t be the same had the story been in a different time period. The story wouldn t have made sense had it been before the Civil War because there would be no confederate flag to right about. Setting is crucial to a story because the details of where and when make it

Octopuses and squids can swim in any direction and can alter their course quickly. Squids use fins located on their heads to propel themselves when swimming at low speeds. These fins steer and stabilize the squids when moving slowly, and wrap around the body when they move quickly, by way of jet propulsion. Most octopuses do not have fins as adults. Some deep water octopuses are exceptions. (Octopuses Squids,n.d) How do octopuses and squids reproduce? The male octopus uses a specialized arm called a hectocotylus to transfer sperm to the mantle cavity of a receptive female. The female lays strings of fertilized eggs on the roof of her den. She guards, cleans and aerates the eggs with water expelled from her siphon until hatching. This can be anywhere from 30 days to a year, depending on the species. The female may build a wall of rocks to seal off the den and will remain in the den until just before she dies, after the eggs have hatched. Squids often mate in large groups, and attach their egg capsules to the ocean floor or to seaweed. Most adult octopuses and squid die after reproducing. Their bodies are recycled in the food web, nourishing other animals, and ultimately providing food for their young when they hatch. (Octopuses

Information hidden beneath metaphorical verses serves to not only give insight into the writers thinking process, but also to communicate with readers. Richard Hayden s, Those Winter Sundays, serves as a poetic narrative describing the actions taken by a father to ensure his family s well being. Hayden s modern sonnetgenerates multiple concepts of love, sacrifice and regret which assist the reader in understanding the limitless capacity of someone s devotion and the recipients of this affection lack of gratitude. The title of any given work of literature is always significant to the author s meaning and intent of the work. Hayden meticulously inserts an emotional symbolism in the title of the poem which already opens the reader s eyes to the incoming melodramatic nostalgic mood of the poem. Reading the title as a whole, one will assume that because the words are in past tenseform, the work will have a reminiscent feel to it. Nevertheless, when the words are broken down and analyzed individually, more information about its meaning can be derived. Firstly, the wordthose from the title serves a dual purpose. On one level, those illustrates distance which will possibly allude to the speakers distance with his father during childhood. Secondly, being that the word is pluralized, the use of those in the title also suggests something that is

Also he should test his new programs out on his loyal and already informed market first. This way if the program goes bad, there will be less damage done and it will be easier to win over these customers versus the ones that don t know Dickens and his company. From the very beginning, the narrator shows his loathe for Robert but over the course of the story eases into comfort with him and learns a lesson from the very one he despised. According to Joseph Campbell s definition the narrator in Cathedral, is an anti hero. He is an inglorious character who is particularly jealous and close minded toward a blind man. If We Have Stood Up Against The Evil Thing Analysis Being a neutral bystander helps those who are evil; that remaining silent encourages even more evil to happen, this is a quote from Elie Wiesel. I agree with this statement that by being a neutral bystander you are helping evil. To begin with, if you had stood against the evils than there might have been a difference. As stated in First They Came, Then they came for me and there was no one to speak out for me. This shows that if he had stood up against the evils when they came for other people than it would have different because others would have stood out for him. Something that is also shown by this is that the people were all scared of what the consequences that would come from standing up for themselves. Therefore, if only people would have stood out against the evils in their life then there would have been a different outcome.
