Exhibit Analysis Essay
Exhibit Analysis Upon entering the exhibit the viewers will be presented with information that shows
the immense diversity within the continent of Africa; this is shown through pictures. It is important to
equip the viewers with general knowledge of Africa so they can go through the exhibit with a basic
foundational understanding. The overall topic of the exhibit is the promotion of children s rights
through the ACRWC s Articles 15 17. The Articles are the three major sub themes; the right to work,
health, and education. These three specific articles were chosen because of the impact they play in the
development of African children. The right to education is the focal point of the sample module. The
right to education is important for children; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These three sub themes were chosen because they each play a role in educating African children. The
three sub themes provide a narrow focus on the overall right to education in Africa. The first two
pictures included in the sub theme access to education are pictures which represent the overcrowding
of classrooms. These pictures are included because according to Schanzenbach (2014) class size can
be correlated to future student outcomes. The smaller the student to teacher ratio is the better the
future outcome of the individual child. The following two pictures are included to further the
understanding of access to education in relation to safety. There are many safety factors that can
impact a child s education. Safety concerns are one of the main reasons children are not attending
school or are found underachieving (Asante Africa Foundation, 2013). The last picture of this sub
category is included to help visualize how many children in sub Sahara Africa are not attending school
due to an unstable country. Poirier (2012) mentions how conflicted countries in Africa produce major
damage to public infrastructures, and contribute to the displacement of populations. Armed conflicts
heavily impact the enrolment rates of children in school. In 2009, 27 million people worldwide were
displaced due to armed conflicts of this 27 million, 11.6 million people were in 21 African countries
(Poirier, 2012). Thus, accenting the impact violence has on accessing education. This should impact

Broward County Community Observation Report
This week s assignment was to search out the schedule for any local city council or county
commission public meeting and attend either in person or online to observe the deliberations. This
observation paper is of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for Broward County. The
meeting was held on March 28, 2017 at 10:08 a.m. The Broward County Charter requires a division
among the legislative and administrative functions of government and the BOCC is the legislative
branch of the county government (Borward.org. 2017. para. 1). The BOCC consists of nine members
who are elected by district in partisan elections and each Commissioner is a resident of the distract for

The meetings I have attended focused on ground transportation items such as taxi and transportation
network companies (TNCs), i.e. Uber and Lyft and ground transportation agreements. The atmosphere
around these meeting are usually tense and the public speakers are very loud and vocal. The meeting
on March 28th, 2017 was more of a formal setting with vocal discussions, however, the atmosphere
surrounding the meeting was somewhat subdued compared to the other meetings I have participated
in. The BOCC were more relaxed during this meeting and even joked with each other in a professional
and polite manner. The audience, whom should be quite during the meeting, also laughed at the
Commissioners jokes. When the audience participated as speakers the BOCC listened and then moved
onto the next speaker. Both parties, the BOCC and the public speakers were polite and all speakers
stayed within his or her allocated three (3) minutes timeframe to talk. I was unable to locate any news
articles relating to the March 28, 2017, BOCC meeting. There were a few times throughout the
meeting a commissioner asked the County Attorney if what was being requested was the first time or a
different action taken by the Board than in the past. It seemed many of the new Board members
wanted to ensure they were not changing policy or actions of previous Boards.

Kolya s Characteristic In City Of Thieves By David Benioff
City Of Thieves Author David Benioff of the suspenseful novel, City of Thieves, does a remarkable
job at developing the witty, humorous, brave, and optimistic character known as Kolya. Kolya begins
this novel as an unlikable and unpleasant character but gradually redeems himself by displaying more
admirable traits. Throughout this intriguing novel, despite his arrogance and frequent reckless
behavior, Kolya has proven to be a very likeable and sympathetic character.
Kolya, an alleged deserter of the red army during World War II was first portrayed and thought of by
others as bold and overconfident. With his manacles hands, he managed to push up the left sleeve of
his great coat, the left sleeve of his army sweater, the left sleeve of the ... Show more content on

Throughout the story, it is made evident that Kolya truly does sympathize with Lev. Kolya never
wants Lev to feel badly about himself. He never fails to give Lev encouragement in hope of lifting his
spirits. You didn t want to go up to that apartment. I was the country fool who insisted on it. So you
don t owe me an apology. And i don t think you re a coward. Anyone with a spoonful of sanity would
have run. (Benioff 65). This is a perfect example of Kolya giving Lev encouragement and
sympathizing with the fact that Lev felt bad for leaving Kolya in the apartment to fight the Giant
alone. I find it thoughtful that Kolya didn t want Lev to feel down or bad about himself so he
proceeded to tell Lev that anyone with common sense would have ran and even though he fled, it
doesn t reflect on his strength and bravery. While this is just one example of Kolyas compassion, his
sympathy is shown in more ways than just one. He opened his eyes, his pale blue cossack eyes, and
smiles at me. We both knew he was going to die. He trembled lying on the back seat beneath his great
coat, his teeth very white against his blue lips. I have always believed that smile was a gift for me.
Kolya had no faith in the divine or the afterlife; he didn t think he was going to a better place, or any
place at all. No angels waited to collect him.

Driverless Vehicles
An addition to the world of technology is the introduction of driverless vehicles. Many companies
including Google, Audi, BMW and Mercedes are investing in this project. The idea of a vehicle
driving itself has been of great interest to companies and manufacturers all over the world are using
technology to build and test such vehicles. Governments around the world are on board with this
venture and they are reviewing the Highway Code, legal frameworks and legislative changes to
accommodate the development of driverless vehicles (Department of transport, 2015). However, it
may seem that not everyone is comfortable with the idea of autonomous vehicles. The moral

its surroundings as much as a driver is. If the driver is going to act like the passenger in a driverless

suggested that manufactures of driverless vehicles monitor the performance of test drivers and see if
their levels of concentration are good and if they represent any risks (Department for transport, 2015).
However, many questions arise about how these tests will take place, how will humans be monitored
on their concentration abilities. What will happen in the case of failing such tests? How will the roads

A Brief Note On The State Of Economic Crisis
H2O Can t be a No
Cochabamba, one of the poorest cities in the world has almost no access to safe water and its citizens
suffer from life threatening waterborne disease. Cochabamba s economy cannot afford the necessary
infrastructure to ensure everyone access to safe water. Bechtel must privatize Cochabamba s water,
offloading the previously unaffordable infrastructure to distribute water to the underserved poor.
1 How did Bolivia get into the situation it s in now? What led to this need for privatization?

of fresh water. Privatization will provide the economic stability necessary to advance technology and

In the long run, water is conserved, solving the water crisis and providing water to all Bolivian
families.
2 What is the political climate in Bolivia? Will it support your bid?
Richer citizens are capable of getting by with safe water, but poorer settlements have limited access to
water and are desperately in need of a privatized water system. In Villa San Miguel, the residents had
recently dug a well, increasing their access to water. As Finnegan states, Clean water was suddenly
plentiful and relatively cheap households paid the water cooperative between two and five dollars a
month to cover the costs of running the pump and maintaining the system. [4]. Through the foundation
of a new, inexpensive water source, this well provided water to 210 families. The expenses are
covered by the townspeople, whom collectively can fund cheaper water sources compared with public
access. Although this drastically decreases the number of people without water access, this is not a
sustainable water source and will soon run out, excentrifying pollution and halting access.
As for people without public access nor locally funded water sources struggle to survive with minimal
water and the diseases acquired by pollutants. The population is growing, and Cochabamba does not
have a water system in place to support all community members, resulting in an increase of people
without water. Finnegan continues by stating that, Today, Cochabamba is ringed by dozens of barrios

Split Pea Soup Recipe
Well, you won t mind if I give barely any introduction to this recipe if your days are as rushed and
busy as mine have been lately. At first, I thought for a while if this soup really needed an introduction
then I realized that it was equally important to share with you the interesting facts about this awesome
and nutritious soup. Since I was a little kid, the split pea soup has always remained my down to earth,
all purpose and basic meal. Whether you need to fix a quick plate for lunch or supper, then I can
assure you that this soup will never let you down. What I love most about this soup is that unlike other
dishes that gets their flavor from spices, it gives a natural nutritious taste from vegetables and
caramelized onions.
On the other hand, if you use the pressure cooker to prepare this soup, then you will agree with me
that this milder soup serves perfectly well as a quick comfort food. In case you are the type of person
who spends about half an hour wondering what to prepare for dinner, then you should try this out and
you will definitely admit that it is a true comfort meal for dinner. By the way, who can resist that ...

goals, stated in such a way as to define what business the company is in or to be in and the kind of

The Water Body Of Water
An oligotrophic body of water has a low nutrient level, which allows for more light penetration. It has
high dissolved oxygen rates, deep waters and low algal growth. The bottom of the water bodies
(lakes), are made of rock, gravel, or sand. The oligotrophic water bodies are home to smallmouth bass,
lake trout, pike, sturgeon and whitefish.
Eutrophic bodies of water have higher nutrient levels, which causes poor light penetration. There is
low dissolved oxygen and shallow water. This all causes higher algal growth. The bottom of the lakes
are made of silt, sand or clay. Carp, bullheads or catfish can be found in the lakes.
Eutrophication is a serious concern for lakes as it can turn an oligotrophic body of water into a
eutrophic body of water, which is dangerous to the ecological diversity.
2. Most natural transistions from an oligotrophic water body to an eutrophic water body will happen
over time, through, sediment erosion, leaf litter, or dying aquatic vegetation and other organisms. As
well, some anaerobic microbes become incapable of performing their tasks, causing a lack of proper
waster digestion and water purifications, this builds up algae which slowly leads to the water body
becoming an Eutrophic lake.
Humans of course tend to speed up these sorts of problems. For more point source pollution there are
the obvious actual pollution, of sewage, garbage, chemicals or otherwise that we empty off into lakes.
However, even atmospheric pollution can lead to lakes

Eros Love in Othello Eros love in Othello is the mature love between Othello and Desdemona.
Through calm or rough times, this form of love shows up again and again. Shakespeare s use of
figurative language and literary devices greatly shows Eros throughout the play Othello between
Othello and Desdemona. In the beginning of the story, Eros love shows up between the two lovers.
Othello wasn t from Venice and he was also black. When Desdemona s father, Brabantio, found out
that she married Othello, he believed that Othello put magical spells on her when in reality, she loved
him. I am hitherto your daughter, but here s my husband. (Shakespeare, 21) She told everyone that she

the horrific scene. She asked Desdemona who tried to kill her and Desdemona responded that it was
herself. O who hath done this deed? Nobody I myself. Farewell. Commend my to my kind lord. O,

Honors World Cultures Period 3
19 May 2017 On July 28th, 103 years ago, the war of the nations, the great war, or in other words,
World War I began. To this day, it is still largely debated as to which event initiated the beginning of
the war. John Rohl, emeritus professor of history at the University of Sussex, argues that World War I
broke out as the result of a conspiracy between the governments of imperial Germany and Austria
Hungary to bring about war. The purpose of bringing on the war was that the two countries believed it
would be better to go down fighting rather than to continue tolerating the status quo. The countries

The Turks called for parliamentary elections, and in result, doubt was placed in the status of Bosnia
and Herzegovina. The two provinces had been under Ottoman sovereignty, but were administered by
Austria Hungary since 1878. Serbia wanted to unite with Bosnia and Herzegovina to form a large
Serbian kingdom. In opposition, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Balkans.
Austria Hungary teased Russia with a trade off, which promised that if Russia accepted the
annexation, Austria Hungary would open the Dardanelles to Russian warships. Instead, Austria
Hungary proceeded with counteraction.
The annexation left both Serbia and Russia outraged. Germany, too, demanded that the Russians
accept the annexation, or Germany would declare war. In response, Russia increased comfort and aid
to Serbia, and the two countries were determined to never again back down in the Balkans. Between
1912 and 1913, the Balkans fought two wars among themselves. These wars resulted in huge
casualties; the Bulgarians lost around 65,000 men, the Greeks 9,500, the Montenegrins 3,000, and the
Serbs at least 36,000. The wars caused the people in the Balkans to become angrier as tensions among
the Great Powers continued to grow. The instability in the Balkans was initially attractive to the Great

Ethics And Spin Control ( P. 193 )
Journal Entry #5: Ethics Spin Control (p. 193) Politics is all about persuasion, especially during
election seasons. Candidates do nothing but try to convince voters that they are right, that there way is
better and get them to vote in their favor. The light in which voters see the candidate is critical, which
is where spin becomes important. Spin involves taking events, statements, and actions and presenting
them in a way that is more favorable for a particular person or cause (Borchers 193). Similarly, spin
control is the act of making their perspective become the dominant way in which [the] ideas are seen
and [getting] the audience to accept a particular perspective (Borchers 193). Spin control isn t a new
concept in the world of persuasion, and in many ways there s nothing wrong with it, but there are
often ethical issues when it comes to spin, as was the case with Clinton s senatorial campaign aide
Karen Adler. For professionals who constantly promote and express sensitive information, like
campaign supporters and journalists or reporters, it s extremely important to understand the dangers of
spin and how to be as responsible and honest as possible. Journalists need to be especially careful
when gathering information for their stories. A large portion of reportorial research comes from
interviewing, and odds are many of their sources will have an ulterior motive of some kind. Prominent

How Does William Blake convey his anger in the poem...
How Does William Blake convey his anger in the poem London ?
The poem London by William Blake, relfects his feelings upon the society that he was living in , and
how despreratly it needed help.
Blake thought that all of the poverty and misfortune that was happening on the streets were caused by
the political opression in
London. Blake was angered by what he saw in his homeland as other countries started fighting for
their indipendence and equality whilst his country stayed dormant, eventhough he felt that there was a
serious need for serious action.

Another image that the writer creates, of an opressed scoiety, is the metaphor
mind for ged manacles , this is as the manacles are only forged by the mind thus, it not being real so
therefore anyone can break free from it anytime, but yet they chose to stay in self imprisonment.
The line mind for ged manacles also conveys Blake s anger towards the ignorance of the people in
country as he believed that they could break free from their imaginary prison cells, and fight the
authorities that were causing their poverty, just like in the French
Revolution.
One way that Blake uses to convey his anger on what he sees is through his constant repition on
certain words. In the first stanza,he repeats the word charter d twice. By repeating the word charter d
twice , it places furthur emphasis on the streets and thames being restricted by authority. The word
mark is then also repeated three times in the poem, by doing so, Blake is able to let the reader take
more awearness of the word mark and the story it is associated with, which is the mark of Caine.
Caine was given a black mark on his face by God as he murderd his brother, the mark then branded
him as a sinner. However, eventhough the mark branded him as a sinner, it also protected him from
harm as anyone who harmed Caine was said to be punished with 30 times the damage inflicted upon
him. The story of Caine relates to London in a sense that

By analyzing the number of positions that are currently being held by women of color we can bring
awareness to the struggles they face in order to fill a lead anchor or reporter s position. There has not
been a lot of changes, but by bringing attention to how uneven the playing field is when it comes to
television journalism, women of color have dealt with for decades has changed very little. The
hypothesis is correct, that there is a lack of present when it comes to women of color in the television
news media. Consequently, no data sets are available that has discussed the prevalence of racism and
sexism in broadcast journalism. My theory of Spiral of Silence reflects that, women of color, value
their jobs and fear that if they voice their opinion they could lose their jobs. The lack of dataset does
not completely rule out that the spiral of silence theory is applicable in this setting, but that current
available studies do not focus on the reason for the lack of representation. Tabnie Dozier, said that the
road to become a lead anchor for women of color takes grit, determination the struggles present, keep
pressing forward (Dozier, Personal Communication, 2018). With our local news station data there are
only 6 women of color in lead anchor jobs compared to 45 white females during the same job. The
national morning news show has similar results, only 3 women of color that are in lead anchor roles.

What Are The Achievements Of The Suffragettes
In this essay we will be debating the accomplishments of the Suffragettes before WW1 in 1914. The
interpretation in the question advocates that any success was absent. There is some amount of
challenge to this view in the sources, whereas most of the sources support the view in question. In my
opinion, this interpretation is accurate to an extent as the Suffragettes hadn t obtained their ultimate
goal in 1914, although I do believe they had taken great steps forward towards obtaining the vote for

provide for their family, but they had to count on the male figure in the family, demoralizing their
power over the household; others were refused academic positions entirely which meant that women
had no chance of achieving a subsequent education that would in time to come help the financial
position of the family. At that time, it was an unchallenged belief that women, compared with men,
were less intelligent, less physically able, and more emotionally fragile and unpredictable. Therefore,
they would presumably not be able to

The Manorial System Used In The Middle Ages
Manorialism was a system used in the Middle Ages by which the Lord of a manor utilized the serfs
and tenants who worked on his land. The manor system not only rested on sets of rights and
obligations but was also the basic economic arrangement. It was the economic portion of feudalism
where all parts of life were centered on the lord s manor. This system involved a hierarchy of
obligations that in exchange for land, you had to complete labor. This allowed the lord of the land to
have governmental power which included the maintenance of a court. The lord s land covered a few
miles of land. Most lord s owned a manor house, a church, and workshops. Streams would pass
through villages and would provide fish, while the mill was used for grinding

Causes of the Great Fire of London Essay
James Jonathan Gray
Hist 3372
Fall 2009
Dr.Willis
According to Adrian Tinniswood, seventeenth century Londoners vacillated between seeing the Great
Fire of London as an act of terrorism and an act of god. What were the major components of these
explanations and why were contemporaries so eager to search for a reason for the calamity other than
simple accident.
Was the Great fire of London an act of terrorism or an act of God? There are numerous explanations
that attribute to the belief in either. London in the seventeenth century was no paradise and was
actually a quite unpleasant place to live. Coupled with thousands dying from an outbreak of plague,
with the dead sometimes populating the streets of London, it is quite ... Show more content on

This contributed to many a belief that the fire that paved the way for a rebuilding of a new, more
grandiose city was a gift from God. To paint a picture before the fire of London, Tinniswood called
London smoke polluted with deformed buildings, so much so that the magistrate would not warrant
any extreme haste when fire, which was common among a town full of old wooden buildings,
happened there (11). Furthermore the industries in London polluted the air (12). It is easy to picture
how lowly and poverty stricken the pre fire London really was. In addition to all of this, many people
believed apocalypse and judgment were to befall the great city anyways; that it was only a matter of
time until God was to act there. When the British attacked and sunk the Dutch fleet, there was the
presence in the date of three sixes, the year 1666, and this caused great fear, causing many to consider
this a prophecy, and Londoners of the day took prophecies very seriously. This is pointed out in the
book by astrologer John Booker entitled: New Almanack and Prognostication, which Tinniswood
references in his text (20 21). This grand fanaticism in belief of God s judgment upon London among
the people can be further displayed in some writings of one of the Duke s helpers under Lord
Berkeley. He wrote: Nothing can be like unto the distraction we were in, but the Day of Judgment.
Another fellow wrote different words at the site of winds from all directions spreading

The Mailroom Plot Summary
The stories in David Rensin s book, The Mailroom: Hollywood History From the Bottom Up, are
exciting, intriguing and perfectly suited for reality television. The book, which is comprised of
interviews with over 200 mailroom graduates from some of the biggest Hollywood talent agencies,
reveals the not so glamorous lives of mailroom assistants in the most glamorous industry in the world
(Rensin). These mailroom clerks are young, motivated, and competitive individuals who aspire to be
Hollywood agents making millions. Such driven and aggressive people would make for excellent
reality stars. Due to the combination of business oriented tasks and out of office drama, The Mailroom
is the result of The Apprentice meeting Vanderpump Rules.
Although the clerks are in competition to get promoted, there is much more that goes on beyond the
mailroom. This series is not structured as a competition show because this would limit the story from
capturing the drama outside the office, which includes blossoming friendships, romance, and conflict
between strong personalities. In particular, the love lives of the mailroom clerks are somewhat
incestuous, according to Nir Caspi, a packaging agent at United Talent Agency, which would intrigue
viewers of shows like The Hills and Vanderpump Rules. Therefore, unlike The Apprentice, ... Show

Some clerks will be fired, some will quit the agency, and some will be promoted. This arrangement
provides The Mailroom with an ideal casting circumstance for numerous seasons. As seasons
progress, some clerks will remain in the mailroom, some will move up within the agency but remain
on the series, and some will leave the series and make room for fresh faces. This balance, which is
seen in the Real Housewives shows, lets viewers enjoy familiarity with the cast while also
appreciating the fresh perspectives of new cast

My Love Essay
I was loved even before I was born, that is what my parents always told me. To be loved and fully
accepted without reservation is their greatest gift to me. Raised by Christian parents who modeled
Christ s love, my early life was uneventful and peaceful. I followed the rules and never got in any
serious trouble. So for the first ten years of my life, my faith was not tested and had no chance of
maturing. My life of ease did not incite me to seek God or his purpose for me. God was in the
background for me then.
Then came some hard times. My easy life was shaken when my mom was diagnosed with breast
cancer. This was her second cancer diagnosis and more serious than the first. Real life stress and
worry came crashing in on me. Was I being punished for some wrong doing? Would my mom survive?
What would happen to me? I was just a kid, but I knew how serious this was. At first, I did not know
where to find help and comfort. Then I remembered seeing my parents turn to prayer and the Bible
especially when they had worries. I came across Ephesian 1:4, Even before he made the world, God
loved us/me and chose us/me in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. This verse reminded
me of what my parents told me when I was very young. God chose me to have a relationship with Him
through his Son, Christ. He holds me without fault because of the sacrifice his Son made for me. My
mom s illness was not a punishment because I have already been forgiven for my sins. I found peace

Aphorisms In Tuesdays With Morrie
In Mitch Albom s, Tuesdays with Morrie he used many literary devices such as aphorisms. Overall,
there are almost thirty amazing examples of aphorisms in Tuesdays with Morrie . Such as, Love
always wins. (pg. 40), The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it
come in. (p. 52), another one includes, Love is the only rational act. (p. 52). Morrie s aphorisms
mainly speak of love, and how you should treat others. It is a lesson that makes readers think of their
values and their ethics. It also makes you question your morals and how you treat one another. In the
Last Lecture , Randy Pausch also used many aphorisms, although not as much as Tuesdays with

Suffering In The Screwtape Letter
What comes to mind when the word suffering is mentioned? It usually brings up images of pain,
hardship, and unpleasantness. However, C. S. Lewis brings new meaning to suffering in The
Screwtape Letters. In one of the letters, Screwtape writes to Wormwood about the paradoxial use that
God makes of our suffering. By the end of Chapter 8, the reader is left to see that suffering itself can
be more powerful than times of ease and happiness in drawing someone closer to God. To begin with,
the troughs in life can be more valuable to one s soul than the peaks . In chapter 8, Screwtape tells
Wormwood, Now it may surprise you to learn that in His efforts to get permanent possession of a soul,
He relies on the troughs even more than on the peaks;

William Paley And David Hume
Intelligent by Design
Written by Alexander Staggs Vargas One of the most prominent philosophical arguments that remains
today is the debate on the existence of God or an Intelligent Designer. This debate dates back a time of
many Gods and deities during the era of Socrates, Plato and their students, including Aristotle. This
discussion will focus on the differing works of authors William Paley and David Hume and I will
argue that there is an Intelligent Designer for our universe. William Paley believes in the existence of
God and that through his watchmaker analogy in Natural Theology he can prove that there is an
Intelligent Designer. David Hume addresses William Paley s argument in Dialogues Concerning
Natural Religion and argues Paley s analogy is weak since Hume believes we cannot analogize earthly
things from things we cannot understand. In this paper, I will address these teleological arguments. To
begin, we need to understand Paley s teleological argument that we are products of an Intelligent
Designer. He argues that: 1) Human artifacts are products of intelligent design and we have a purpose;
2) The universe resembles these human artifacts; 3) Due to the similarities, it is probable that the
universe is also a product of intelligent design; 4) However, the universe is vastly more complex and
gigantic than a human artifact; and, 5) Therefore, it is most logical that a powerful and vastly
intelligent designer created the universe. Paley s teleological

In recent decades, studies have shown that the development of Hyperuriemia and Gout is due to effect
of lead on the tubular urate transport causing diminished urate excretion. In the case of lead
intoxication these effects were mostly linked with renal failure. The clinical features of saturnine gout
were basically same as that of primary gout; though, acute attacks were likely to occur in the knee
more recurrently. The analysis of saturnine Gout was based on the history of exposure to lead, lead
toxicity, high serum lead levels and various other abnormalities. The treatment of Gout consists of
eliminating the further exposure to lead from the patient, to utilize chelating agents for removal of

3D printing technologies are changing the way we produce objects. 3D printing is part of a process
known as an additive manufacturing, where an object is created by adding layer by layer. Additive
manufacturing allows designers create complex parts for machines.
Extruder is a part of the printer which draws and melts the filament. If the pressure and speed are kept
constant then the material flow is maintained uniform. The material should be in a semi solid state
when it comes out from the nozzle and should be able to solidify and bond to the previously extruded

What Is Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
Theory One of the many interesting things Maslow noticed while he worked with monkeys early in
his career, was that some needs take precedence over others. For example, if you are hungry and
thirsty, you will tend to try to take care of the thirst first. After all, you can do without food for weeks,
but you can only do without water for a couple of days! Thirst is a stronger need than hunger.
Likewise, if you are very very thirsty, but someone has put a choke hold on you and you can t breath,
which is more important? The need to breathe, of course. On the other hand, sex is less powerful than
any of these. Let s face it, you won t die if you don t get it! Maslow took this idea and created his now
famous hierarchy of needs. Beyond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the preceding four levels he calls deficit needs, or D needs. If you don t have enough of
something i.e. you have a deficit you feel the need. But if you get all you need, you feel nothing at all!
In other words, they cease to be motivating. As the old blues song goes, you don t miss your water till
your well runs dry! He also talks about these levels in terms of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the
principle by which your furnace thermostat operates: When it gets too cold, it switches the heat on;
When it gets too hot, it switches the heat off. In the same way, your body, when it lacks a certain
substance, develops a hunger for it; When it gets enough of it, then the hunger stops. Maslow simply
extends the homeostatic principle to needs, such as safety, belonging, and esteem, that we don t
ordinarily think of in these terms. Maslow sees all these needs as essentially survival needs. Even love
and esteem are needed for the maintenance of health. He says we all have these needs built in to us
genetically, like instincts. In fact, he calls them instinctoid instinct like needs. In terms of overall
development, we move through these levels a bit like stages. As newborns, our focus (if not our entire
set of needs) is on the physiological. Soon, we begin to recognize that we need to be safe. Soon after
that, we crave attention and affection. A bit later, we look for self esteem. Mind you, this is in

The Science Fiction Tale The Last Question
The idea that one day consciousness may spread throughout the universe has been considered
seriously by physicists. Sir Martin Rees, the Royal Astronomer of Great Britain, has written,
Wormholes, extra dimensions, and quantum computers open up speculative scenarios that could
transform our entire universe eventually into a living cosmos ! But will the mind one day be freed of
its material body to explore the entire universe? This was the theme explored in Isaac Asimov s classic
science fiction tale The Last Question. (He would fondly recall that this was his favorite science
fiction short story of all the ones he had written.) In it, billions of years into the future, humans will
have placed their physical bodies in pods on an obscure planet, freeing their minds to control pure
energy throughout the galaxy. Instead of surrogates made of steel and silicon, these surrogates are pure
energy beings that can effortlessly roam the distant reaches of space, past exploding stars, colliding
galaxies, and other wonders of the universe. But no matter how powerful humanity has become, it is
helpless as it witnesses the ultimate death of the universe itself in the Big Freeze. In desperation,
humanity constructs a supercomputer to answer the final question: Can the death of the universe be
reversed? The computer is so large and complex that it has to be placed in hyperspace. But the
computer simply responds that there is insufficient information to give an answer.

Error Locked San Bernardino Attacker s iPhone, Mr. Comey, director of the FBI, stressed that by
unlocking the phone, it would only provide more information about the attacks and would not help
gain a powerful enforcement tool elsewhere. This suggests that by unlocking the phone, it would not
be used as an enforcement tool in other situations, and will therefore pertain to the social fabric of
Americans. Furthermore, according to the New York Times article, Obama Administration Set to
Expand Sharing of Data That N.S.A. Intercepts, until now, the National Security Agency (NSA) has
filtered surveillance information for other agencies such as the CIA and FBI and has also masked the
names and irrelevant information of innocent Americans. Practically, a new system would be
implemented that would allow other agencies to obtain direct access to information from the N.S.A. s
surveillance. If personal information is obtained, privacy protections would mask innocent Americans
information by using a process known as minimization. Realistically, agencies only gather the
important information and filter out irrelevant ones. As shown, the FBI s way of gathering information

vital information about the attacks and even future ones can be collected, while other irrelevant

The History of Greek Architecture Essays
The History of Greek Architecture
The architecture of ancient Greece is represented by buildings in the sanctuaries and cities of mainland
Greece, the Aegean islands, southern
Italy and Sicily, and the Ionian coast of Turkey. Monumental Greek architecture began in the archaic
period, flourished through the classical and Hellenistic periods, and saw the first of many revivals
during the
Roman Empire. The roots of Greek architecture lie in the tradition of local
Bronze Age house and palaces. The following paper will cover the basic forms of Greek architecture.

This era brought about the introduction of both the Doric and Ionic Orders.
The Doric Order, which originated around 400 BCE brought rise to a whole new type of building
technique and style. In the archaic temples, stone gradually started to replace wood, and some of the
structural details of the early buildings appear to have been copied in stone. At Thermon, in
northwestern Greece, a succession of buildings from the Last Bronze Age throughout the sixth century
BCE show the evolution of the Doric temple from a hall shaped like a hairpin to a long rectangular
building with a porch at either end and surrounded by columns. The temple of Hera at
Olympia, built about 600 BCE, had wooden columns that were gradually replaced by stone ones,
probably as votive gifts. The variety of column and capital shapes illustrates the evolution of the Doric
order. The earliest columns had a heavy, bulging profile, and their capitals were broad and low.
During the archaic period, limestone became the standard building material for foundations, steps,
walls, columns, and Doric entablature. Building such as the famous Temple of Aphaia on Aegina
illustrate the dramatic influence of the Doric order.
White the Doric order became the standard for mainland Greece, the
Ionian colonies in the eastern Aegean were developing a very different system of columns and
entablature based on Egyptian and Near Eastern architecture. The tall slender columns, low
entablature, and

Harmonielehre Analysis
Jonathan Milke
The continued relevance of the Symphonic genera through Musical Synthesis In John Adams
Harmonielehre
In todays society a musician must grapple with many different artistic realities. The current musical
landscape includes many different styles from music in pop culture to music existing predominantly in
the academic field. In this vast sea of musical styles the compositional career of John Adams was
born. In this ever changing era of musical styles John Adams has created a style for himself titled Post
Minimalism. The Post Minimalistic music of John Adams was derived through many cultural and
musical influences of the 1900 s and early 2000 s, specifically as a reaction to Schoenberg s Viennese
school. John Adams orchestral work Harmonielehre shows a conscious reaction to Schoenberg s serial
music and a synthesis of many styles of music while including serial elements from the Viennese
school. This connection makes the work of Adams different from other minimalistic composers at the
same time ushering an era of New or Post Minimalism, creating an accessibility in both the symphonic
orchestra and minimalism repetoire that did not exist. As with many composers the experiences in
Adams past shaped much of his music, specifically his development of Post Minimalism style along
with his synthesis of several musical styles. John Adams was born and raised in New England and
partook in marching band and community orchestra in his early years. He then

The Pros And Cons Of International Adoption
There is one thing that most people look forward to for their entire lives. Grow up, get married and
have that perfect, happy family. Sometimes for this to happen, it involves adoption. Whether someone
wants to start a family with it, or if they want to expand their family. No matter what the initial reason
is adoption is everywhere and involves many people. Most people don t go through life and say that
they don t know anybody who is adopted. Many people are related to, or know at least one person,
that was adopted. So all countries should let people continue saying that by letting them adopt whether
they are from a foreign country or not. It is estimated that there are 2 billion kids in the world. Of
those 2 billion, 15 million are living without parents. Millions more, not counting the 2 billion, have
been abandoned by their parent or guardian forcing them to fend for themselves (SIRS, International
Adoption Babies without Borders, Para 1). While there are many things that we can do to help this
problem, America seems to be focusing on other issues. Instead of looking to take care of the people
of tomorrow, the politicians and others are focusing on the present only. ... Show more content on

Chicken (KFC), Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. With a multi branding strategy, a firm can combine its

industry profitability, it appears that profit margins have a tendency to fall. This is because
competition is high and customers tend to buy low priced high value items. The average gross margin
and net profit margin is 37.1% and 14.3%, respectively (MSN Money, 2010).
Key Macro External Forces
Socio cultural Today s society is becoming increasingly more health conscious. Consumers are aware
of calories, obesity, sodium content and fatty food intake issues. Many restaurants have responded to
the healthy eating trend by expanding the number of healthy food choices on their menus. A study
found that American fast food chains increased their healthy menu items by 65% during the second
quarter of 2009 to the second quarter of 2010 (Midday, 2010). Another important social factor is the
desire to be socially responsible. More restaurants are going green by choosing local ingredients,
meats, and vegetables over those shipped from thousands of miles away. A study reports that around
80% of Americans consider themselves to be environmentally conscious. The same study found that
over 60% of Americans prefer to eat at eco friendly or green restaurants (Hubpages, 2010).

A Sorrowful Woman The story that is A Sorrowful Woman seems to be a story told from the point of
view of a narrator who focuses only slightly on the inner conflict of one of the main charters in the
story. The character of which I am speaking is never referred to by name, instead is called she, the
woman, mommy, and wife throughout the entire story which lends credence to the conclusion of the
viewpoint as being told from the outside. The first indication that the focus of the story will be not of a

Then in the next line there is no mention of the woman speaking to the child or acknowledging that
the child ever spoke to her. The purposeful shunning of the child by the woman is appalling and
baffling at the same time. The child in the story is an innocent, wanting to please and gain
acknowledgement and love from the very woman that is sickened by the very sight of the child. The
mysterious reasons for the shunning of the child can be guessed at in committee, but without more
history as to reasoning: the idea of the woman seeing the child as the one reason for her illness is the
most conclusive idea to be had. A supporting clause for the woman being ever more resentful of the
child is the description given when during the course of play, the woman is scratched enough to draw
a small bead or two of blood, One of his sharp little claws ripped her flesh, just above the wrist... a
thin red line materialized on the inside of her pale arm and spill over with tiny beads (6). The reaction
to this was not to grimace and clean her arm or to take time to trim the child s finger nails to prevent
such from happening again. Instead the woman says clearly Go away (6). Then lock herself away from
the child. No explanation or reason given to the child but to ignore and satisfy vengeance towards
what the woman views as something that

  • 2. Exhibit Analysis Essay Exhibit Analysis Upon entering the exhibit the viewers will be presented with information that shows the immense diversity within the continent of Africa; this is shown through pictures. It is important to equip the viewers with general knowledge of Africa so they can go through the exhibit with a basic foundational understanding. The overall topic of the exhibit is the promotion of children s rights through the ACRWC s Articles 15 17. The Articles are the three major sub themes; the right to work, health, and education. These three specific articles were chosen because of the impact they play in the development of African children. The right to education is the focal point of the sample module. The right to education is important for children; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three sub themes were chosen because they each play a role in educating African children. The three sub themes provide a narrow focus on the overall right to education in Africa. The first two pictures included in the sub theme access to education are pictures which represent the overcrowding of classrooms. These pictures are included because according to Schanzenbach (2014) class size can be correlated to future student outcomes. The smaller the student to teacher ratio is the better the future outcome of the individual child. The following two pictures are included to further the understanding of access to education in relation to safety. There are many safety factors that can impact a child s education. Safety concerns are one of the main reasons children are not attending school or are found underachieving (Asante Africa Foundation, 2013). The last picture of this sub category is included to help visualize how many children in sub Sahara Africa are not attending school due to an unstable country. Poirier (2012) mentions how conflicted countries in Africa produce major damage to public infrastructures, and contribute to the displacement of populations. Armed conflicts heavily impact the enrolment rates of children in school. In 2009, 27 million people worldwide were displaced due to armed conflicts of this 27 million, 11.6 million people were in 21 African countries (Poirier, 2012). • 4. Broward County Community Observation Report This week s assignment was to search out the schedule for any local city council or county commission public meeting and attend either in person or online to observe the deliberations. This observation paper is of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for Broward County. The meeting was held on March 28, 2017 at 10:08 a.m. The Broward County Charter requires a division among the legislative and administrative functions of government and the BOCC is the legislative branch of the county government (Borward.org. 2017. para. 1). The meetings I have attended focused on ground transportation items such as taxi and transportation network companies (TNCs), i.e. Uber and Lyft and ground transportation agreements. The atmosphere around these meeting are usually tense and the public speakers are very loud and vocal. The meeting on March 28th, 2017 was more of a formal setting with vocal discussions, however, the atmosphere surrounding the meeting was somewhat subdued compared to the other meetings I have participated in. The BOCC were more relaxed during this meeting and even joked with each other in a professional and polite manner. The audience, whom should be quite during the meeting, also laughed at the Commissioners jokes. When the audience participated as speakers the BOCC listened and then moved onto the next speaker. Both parties, the BOCC and the public speakers were polite and all speakers stayed within his or her allocated three (3) minutes timeframe to talk. I was unable to locate any news articles relating to the March 28, 2017, BOCC meeting. There were a few times throughout the meeting a commissioner asked the County Attorney if what was being requested was the first time or a different action taken by the Board than in the past. It seemed many of the new Board members wanted to ensure they were not changing policy or actions of previous Boards. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kolya s Characteristic In City Of Thieves By David Benioff City Of Thieves Author David Benioff of the suspenseful novel, City of Thieves, does a remarkable job at developing the witty, humorous, brave, and optimistic character known as Kolya. Kolya begins this novel as an unlikable and unpleasant character but gradually redeems himself by displaying more admirable traits. Throughout this intriguing novel, despite his arrogance and frequent reckless behavior, Kolya has proven to be a very likeable and sympathetic character. Kolya, an alleged deserter of the red army during World War II was first portrayed and thought of by others as bold and overconfident. With his manacles hands, he managed to push up the left sleeve of his great coat, the left sleeve of his army sweater, the left sleeve of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the story, it is made evident that Kolya truly does sympathize with Lev. Kolya never wants Lev to feel badly about himself. He never fails to give Lev encouragement in hope of lifting his spirits. You didn t want to go up to that apartment. I was the country fool who insisted on it. So you don t owe me an apology. And i don t think you re a coward. Anyone with a spoonful of sanity would have run. (Benioff 65). This is a perfect example of Kolya giving Lev encouragement and sympathizing with the fact that Lev felt bad for leaving Kolya in the apartment to fight the Giant alone. I find it thoughtful that Kolya didn t want Lev to feel down or bad about himself so he proceeded to tell Lev that anyone with common sense would have ran and even though he fled, it doesn t reflect on his strength and bravery. While this is just one example of Kolyas compassion, his sympathy is shown in more ways than just one. He opened his eyes, his pale blue cossack eyes, and smiles at me. We both knew he was going to die. He trembled lying on the back seat beneath his great coat, his teeth very white against his blue lips. I have always believed that smile was a gift for me. Kolya had no faith in the divine or the afterlife; he didn t think he was going to a better place, or any place at all. No angels waited to collect him. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The idea of a vehicle driving itself has been of great interest to companies and manufacturers all over the world are using technology to build and test such vehicles. Governments around the world are on board with this venture and they are reviewing the Highway Code, legal frameworks and legislative changes to accommodate the development of driverless vehicles (Department of transport, 2015). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That it is the responsibility of humans, just as it is with manual vehicles to maintain a good level of concentration at times of driving the vehicle. This may be true but it could be argued that it is easier to concentrate when a human is actually driving. That a passenger may not be as attentive to the road and its surroundings as much as a driver is. If the driver is going to act like the passenger in a driverless vehicle then the concern would be that is it possible to be that attentive when not actually driving? It is suggested that manufactures of driverless vehicles monitor the performance of test drivers and see if their levels of concentration are good and if they represent any risks (Department for transport, 2015). In Villa San Miguel, the residents had recently dug a well, increasing their access to water. As Finnegan states, Clean water was suddenly plentiful and relatively cheap households paid the water cooperative between two and five dollars a month to cover the costs of running the pump and maintaining the system. [4]. Through the foundation of a new, inexpensive water source, this well provided water to 210 families. The expenses are covered by the townspeople, whom collectively can fund cheaper water sources compared with public access. Although this drastically decreases the number of people without water access, this is not a sustainable water source and will soon run out, excentrifying pollution and halting access. As for people without public access nor locally funded water sources struggle to survive with minimal water and the diseases acquired by pollutants. The population is growing, and Cochabamba does not have a water system in place to support all community members, resulting in an increase of people without water. Finnegan continues by stating that, Today, Cochabamba is ringed by dozens of barrios ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first, I thought for a while if this soup really needed an introduction then I realized that it was equally important to share with you the interesting facts about this awesome and nutritious soup. Since I was a little kid, the split pea soup has always remained my down to earth, all purpose and basic meal. Whether you need to fix a quick plate for lunch or supper, then I can assure you that this soup will never let you down. What I love most about this soup is that unlike other dishes that gets their flavor from spices, it gives a natural nutritious taste from vegetables and caramelized onions. On the other hand, if you use the pressure cooker to prepare this soup, then you will agree with me that this milder soup serves perfectly well as a quick comfort food. The bottom of the water bodies (lakes), are made of rock, gravel, or sand. The oligotrophic water bodies are home to smallmouth bass, lake trout, pike, sturgeon and whitefish. Eutrophic bodies of water have higher nutrient levels, which causes poor light penetration. There is low dissolved oxygen and shallow water. This all causes higher algal growth. The bottom of the lakes are made of silt, sand or clay. Carp, bullheads or catfish can be found in the lakes. Eutrophication is a serious concern for lakes as it can turn an oligotrophic body of water into a eutrophic body of water, which is dangerous to the ecological diversity. 2. Most natural transistions from an oligotrophic water body to an eutrophic water body will happen over time, through, sediment erosion, leaf litter, or dying aquatic vegetation and other organisms. As well, some anaerobic microbes become incapable of performing their tasks, causing a lack of proper waster digestion and water purifications, this builds up algae which slowly leads to the water body becoming an Eutrophic lake. Humans of course tend to speed up these sorts of problems. For more point source pollution there are the obvious actual pollution, of sewage, garbage, chemicals or otherwise that we empty off into lakes. To this day, it is still largely debated as to which event initiated the beginning of the war. John Rohl, emeritus professor of history at the University of Sussex, argues that World War I broke out as the result of a conspiracy between the governments of imperial Germany and Austria Hungary to bring about war. In opposition, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Balkans. Austria Hungary teased Russia with a trade off, which promised that if Russia accepted the annexation, Austria Hungary would open the Dardanelles to Russian warships. Instead, Austria Hungary proceeded with counteraction. The annexation left both Serbia and Russia outraged. • 15. Ethics And Spin Control ( P. 193 ) Journal Entry #5: Ethics Spin Control (p. 193) Politics is all about persuasion, especially during election seasons. Candidates do nothing but try to convince voters that they are right, that there way is better and get them to vote in their favor. The light in which voters see the candidate is critical, which is where spin becomes important. Spin involves taking events, statements, and actions and presenting them in a way that is more favorable for a particular person or cause (Borchers 193). Similarly, spin control is the act of making their perspective become the dominant way in which [the] ideas are seen and [getting] the audience to accept a particular perspective (Borchers 193). Spin control isn t a new concept in the world of persuasion, and in many ways there s nothing wrong with it, but there are often ethical issues when it comes to spin, as was the case with Clinton s senatorial campaign aide Karen Adler. For professionals who constantly promote and express sensitive information, like campaign supporters and journalists or reporters, it s extremely important to understand the dangers of spin and how to be as responsible and honest as possible. The poem London by William Blake, relfects his feelings upon the society that he was living in , and how despreratly it needed help. Blake thought that all of the poverty and misfortune that was happening on the streets were caused by the political opression in London. Blake was angered by what he saw in his homeland as other countries started fighting for their indipendence and equality whilst his country stayed dormant, eventhough he felt that there was a serious need for serious action. Another image that the writer creates, of an opressed scoiety, is the metaphor mind for ged manacles , this is as the manacles are only forged by the mind thus, it not being real so therefore anyone can break free from it anytime, but yet they chose to stay in self imprisonment. The line mind for ged manacles also conveys Blake s anger towards the ignorance of the people in country as he believed that they could break free from their imaginary prison cells, and fight the authorities that were causing their poverty, just like in the French Revolution. One way that Blake uses to convey his anger on what he sees is through his constant repition on certain words. In the first stanza,he repeats the word charter d twice. By repeating the word charter d twice , it places furthur emphasis on the streets and thames being restricted by authority. The word mark is then also repeated three times in the poem, by doing so, Blake is able to let the reader take more awearness of the word mark and the story it is associated with, which is the mark of Caine. There has not been a lot of changes, but by bringing attention to how uneven the playing field is when it comes to television journalism, women of color have dealt with for decades has changed very little. The hypothesis is correct, that there is a lack of present when it comes to women of color in the television news media. Consequently, no data sets are available that has discussed the prevalence of racism and sexism in broadcast journalism. My theory of Spiral of Silence reflects that, women of color, value their jobs and fear that if they voice their opinion they could lose their jobs. The lack of dataset does not completely rule out that the spiral of silence theory is applicable in this setting, but that current available studies do not focus on the reason for the lack of representation. The interpretation in the question advocates that any success was absent. There is some amount of challenge to this view in the sources, whereas most of the sources support the view in question. In my opinion, this interpretation is accurate to an extent as the Suffragettes hadn t obtained their ultimate goal in 1914, although I do believe they had taken great steps forward towards obtaining the vote for women in 1918 which the interpretation in the question fails to acknowledge. What were the major components of these explanations and why were contemporaries so eager to search for a reason for the calamity other than simple accident. Was the Great fire of London an act of terrorism or an act of God? There are numerous explanations that attribute to the belief in either. To paint a picture before the fire of London, Tinniswood called London smoke polluted with deformed buildings, so much so that the magistrate would not warrant any extreme haste when fire, which was common among a town full of old wooden buildings, happened there (11). Furthermore the industries in London polluted the air (12). It is easy to picture how lowly and poverty stricken the pre fire London really was. In addition to all of this, many people believed apocalypse and judgment were to befall the great city anyways; that it was only a matter of time until God was to act there. When the British attacked and sunk the Dutch fleet, there was the presence in the date of three sixes, the year 1666, and this caused great fear, causing many to consider this a prophecy, and Londoners of the day took prophecies very seriously. This is pointed out in the book by astrologer John Booker entitled: New Almanack and Prognostication, which Tinniswood references in his text (20 21). This grand fanaticism in belief of God s judgment upon London among the people can be further displayed in some writings of one of the Duke s helpers under Lord Berkeley. William Paley And David Hume Intelligent by Design Written by Alexander Staggs Vargas One of the most prominent philosophical arguments that remains today is the debate on the existence of God or an Intelligent Designer. This debate dates back a time of many Gods and deities during the era of Socrates, Plato and their students, including Aristotle. This discussion will focus on the differing works of authors William Paley and David Hume and I will argue that there is an Intelligent Designer for our universe. William Paley believes in the existence of God and that through his watchmaker analogy in Natural Theology he can prove that there is an Intelligent Designer. David Hume addresses William Paley s argument in Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion and argues Paley s analogy is weak since Hume believes we cannot analogize earthly things from things we cannot understand. In this paper, I will address these teleological arguments. To begin, we need to understand Paley s teleological argument that we are products of an Intelligent Designer. He argues that: 1) Human artifacts are products of intelligent design and we have a purpose; 2) The universe resembles these human artifacts; 3) Due to the similarities, it is probable that the universe is also a product of intelligent design; 4) However, the universe is vastly more complex and gigantic than a human artifact; and, 5) Therefore, it is most logical that a powerful and vastly intelligent designer created the universe. But if you get all you need, you feel nothing at all! In other words, they cease to be motivating. As the old blues song goes, you don t miss your water till your well runs dry! He also talks about these levels in terms of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the principle by which your furnace thermostat operates: When it gets too cold, it switches the heat on; When it gets too hot, it switches the heat off. In the same way, your body, when it lacks a certain substance, develops a hunger for it; When it gets enough of it, then the hunger stops. Maslow simply extends the homeostatic principle to needs, such as safety, belonging, and esteem, that we don t ordinarily think of in these terms. Maslow sees all these needs as essentially survival needs. Even love and esteem are needed for the maintenance of health. He says we all have these needs built in to us genetically, like instincts. In fact, he calls them instinctoid instinct like needs. In terms of overall development, we move through these levels a bit like stages. As newborns, our focus (if not our entire set of needs) is on the physiological. Soon, we begin to recognize that we need to be safe. Soon after that, we crave attention and affection. A bit later, we look for self esteem. Mind you, this is in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Science Fiction Tale The Last Question The idea that one day consciousness may spread throughout the universe has been considered seriously by physicists. Sir Martin Rees, the Royal Astronomer of Great Britain, has written, Wormholes, extra dimensions, and quantum computers open up speculative scenarios that could transform our entire universe eventually into a living cosmos ! But will the mind one day be freed of its material body to explore the entire universe? This was the theme explored in Isaac Asimov s classic science fiction tale The Last Question. (He would fondly recall that this was his favorite science fiction short story of all the ones he had written.) In it, billions of years into the future, humans will have placed their physical bodies in pods on an obscure planet, freeing their minds to control pure energy throughout the galaxy. Instead of surrogates made of steel and silicon, these surrogates are pure energy beings that can effortlessly roam the distant reaches of space, past exploding stars, colliding galaxies, and other wonders of the universe. But no matter how powerful humanity has become, it is helpless as it witnesses the ultimate death of the universe itself in the Big Freeze. In desperation, humanity constructs a supercomputer to answer the final question: Can the death of the universe be reversed? The computer is so large and complex that it has to be placed in hyperspace. But the computer simply responds that there is insufficient information to give an answer. Eons ... Error Locked San Bernardino Attacker s iPhone, Mr. Comey, director of the FBI, stressed that by unlocking the phone, it would only provide more information about the attacks and would not help gain a powerful enforcement tool elsewhere. This suggests that by unlocking the phone, it would not be used as an enforcement tool in other situations, and will therefore pertain to the social fabric of Americans. Furthermore, according to the New York Times article, Obama Administration Set to Expand Sharing of Data That N.S.A. Intercepts, until now, the National Security Agency (NSA) has filtered surveillance information for other agencies such as the CIA and FBI and has also masked the names and irrelevant information of innocent Americans. Practically, a new system would be implemented that would allow other agencies to obtain direct access to information from the N.S.A. s surveillance. If personal information is obtained, privacy protections would mask innocent Americans information by using a process known as minimization. Realistically, agencies only gather the important information and filter out irrelevant ones. As shown, the FBI s way of gathering information from the terrorist s phone has been proven to be implemented in other areas too. In the same sense, vital information about the attacks and even future ones can be collected, while other irrelevant information will be filtered out and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The History of Greek Architecture Essays The History of Greek Architecture The architecture of ancient Greece is represented by buildings in the sanctuaries and cities of mainland Greece, the Aegean islands, southern Italy and Sicily, and the Ionian coast of Turkey. Monumental Greek architecture began in the archaic period, flourished through the classical and Hellenistic periods, and saw the first of many revivals during the Roman Empire. The roots of Greek architecture lie in the tradition of local Bronze Age house and palaces. The following paper will cover the basic forms of Greek architecture. This era brought about the introduction of both the Doric and Ionic Orders. The Doric Order, which originated around 400 BCE brought rise to a whole new type of building technique and style. In the archaic temples, stone gradually started to replace wood, and some of the structural details of the early buildings appear to have been copied in stone. At Thermon, in northwestern Greece, a succession of buildings from the Last Bronze Age throughout the sixth century BCE show the evolution of the Doric temple from a hall shaped like a hairpin to a long rectangular building with a porch at either end and surrounded by columns. The temple of Hera at Olympia, built about 600 BCE, had wooden columns that were gradually replaced by stone ones, probably as votive gifts. The variety of column and capital shapes illustrates the evolution of the Doric order. The earliest columns had a heavy, bulging profile, and their capitals were broad and low. During the archaic period, limestone became the standard building material for foundations, steps, walls, columns, and Doric entablature. Building such as the famous Temple of Aphaia on Aegina illustrate the dramatic influence of the Doric order. White the Doric order became the standard for mainland Greece, the Ionian colonies in the eastern Aegean were developing a very different system of columns and entablature based on Egyptian and Near Eastern architecture. Harmonielehre Analysis Jonathan Milke The continued relevance of the Symphonic genera through Musical Synthesis In John Adams Harmonielehre In todays society a musician must grapple with many different artistic realities. The current musical landscape includes many different styles from music in pop culture to music existing predominantly in the academic field. In this vast sea of musical styles the compositional career of John Adams was born. In this ever changing era of musical styles John Adams has created a style for himself titled Post Minimalism. The Post Minimalistic music of John Adams was derived through many cultural and musical influences of the 1900 s and early 2000 s, specifically as a reaction to Schoenberg s Viennese school. John Adams orchestral work Harmonielehre shows a conscious reaction to Schoenberg s serial music and a synthesis of many styles of music while including serial elements from the Viennese school. This connection makes the work of Adams different from other minimalistic composers at the same time ushering an era of New or Post Minimalism, creating an accessibility in both the symphonic orchestra and minimalism repetoire that did not exist. As with many composers the experiences in Adams past shaped much of his music, specifically his development of Post Minimalism style along with his synthesis of several musical styles. John Adams was born and raised in New England and partook in marching band and community orchestra in his early years. He then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Pros And Cons Of International Adoption There is one thing that most people look forward to for their entire lives. Grow up, get married and have that perfect, happy family. Sometimes for this to happen, it involves adoption. Whether someone wants to start a family with it, or if they want to expand their family. No matter what the initial reason is adoption is everywhere and involves many people. Most people don t go through life and say that they don t know anybody who is adopted. Many people are related to, or know at least one person, that was adopted. So all countries should let people continue saying that by letting them adopt whether they are from a foreign country or not. It is estimated that there are 2 billion kids in the world. Of those 2 billion, 15 million are living without parents. Millions more, not counting the 2 billion, have been abandoned by their parent or guardian forcing them to fend for themselves (SIRS, International Adoption Babies without Borders, Para 1). While there are many things that we can do to help this problem, America seems to be focusing on other issues. Instead of looking to take care of the people of tomorrow, the politicians and others are focusing on the present only. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay A Sorrowful Woman A Sorrowful Woman The story that is A Sorrowful Woman seems to be a story told from the point of view of a narrator who focuses only slightly on the inner conflict of one of the main charters in the story. The character of which I am speaking is never referred to by name, instead is called she, the woman, mommy, and wife throughout the entire story which lends credence to the conclusion of the viewpoint as being told from the outside. The first indication that the focus of the story will be not of a warm and loving nature is the line The sight of them made her so sad and sick she did not want to see them again (1). Then in the next line there is no mention of the woman speaking to the child or acknowledging that the child ever spoke to her. The purposeful shunning of the child by the woman is appalling and baffling at the same time. The child in the story is an innocent, wanting to please and gain acknowledgement and love from the very woman that is sickened by the very sight of the child. The mysterious reasons for the shunning of the child can be guessed at in committee, but without more history as to reasoning: the idea of the woman seeing the child as the one reason for her illness is the most conclusive idea to be had. A supporting clause for the woman being ever more resentful of the child is the description given when during the course of play, the woman is scratched enough to draw a small bead or two of blood, One of his sharp little claws ripped her flesh, just above the wrist... a thin red line materialized on the inside of her pale arm and spill over with tiny beads (6). The reaction to this was not to grimace and clean her arm or to take time to trim the child s finger nails to prevent such from happening again. Instead the woman says clearly Go away (6). Then lock herself away from the child. No explanation or reason given to the child but to ignore and satisfy vengeance towards what the woman views as something that ...
