The Effect Of A Reduced Quantity Of Light
Introduction In this study, the focus is on the effect of a reduced quantity of light being the intensity of
the light and quality of the light being the wavelengths that the chloroplast isolate of Spinach beet
(Beta vulgaris subsp. cicla) is exposed to, and whether the results indicated have a connection to the
effect of the difference in lights in forests, and hence the effect on seedlings and plants underneath
dense canopies and their ability to photosynthesis, therefore their photosynthetic activity. Together
with investigating whether the intensity of the light or the quality has a greater effect on the rate of
photosynthetic activity, was also the effect of varying densities of chloroplasts on the rate of activity.

(Pitelka et al 1985, Lawson 2010)
Current studies already taken place explore the fact that certain wavelengths of light are more capable
of fuelling photosynthesis (Halliwell B, 1984), demonstrating how certain wavelengths such as blue
and red sections of the visible light spectrum will be absorbed by the photosynthetic organisms and
then transferred along the electron transport chain, while others portions of the visible light spectrum
are not absorbed such as the green section therefore, indicating why in dense forests with limiting
direct light is available green light is transmitted (Lee D, 1987, Endler J, 1993). To investigate the
photosynthetic affect of different light wavelengths and light intensities on Spinach Beet (Beta
vulgaris subsp. cicla) the flow of the electrons through the electron transport chain will be observed
through the absorption change of the chemical DCPIP, demonstrating the colour and therefore the
absorbance is proportional to the photosynthetic activity, measured using a spectrophotometer.
Method
To prepare the live chloroplast, 4g of spinach leaf were grinded with 15 ml of ice cold isolation
median into a smooth paste, and filtered (finely as possibly), it was centrifuged at 1300xg at 4°C for 5
minutes. The supernatant was decanted separating it from the dark green layer. Again ice cold
isolation medium was added to the tube containing the dark green layer to have ~1ml of isolate, the

Special Interest
Define an interest group with examples. Interest group usually a voluntary organization where
members share a common interest in which they seek to influence public policy, without seeking
political control. They have primary activities such as lobbying the members of the legislative bodies
through contributions to political parties, trying to elect sympathetic or pliable politicians, and by
conducting covert or open propaganda campaigns. (Interest Groups, n.d.) There are a few different
types of interest groups and they are as follows:
Economic Interest Groups This is the largest category that includes organizations that represent big
businesses, such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers ...

(1) They seek to win elections or electoral positions; (2) they reorganize around those periodic
elections and then may become less active, and (3) they depend on the local mobilization of voters
who support political candidates but not necessarily the party organization. Interest groups are more
issue oriented, are continuously maintained, and are dependent on supporters who identify with their
organization. (Browne, n.d.) One thing that differentiates political parties from interest groups arises
from the nature of the political system in which they operate and from the various electoral rules and
structures that exist in different countries. In corporatist societies, interest groups may be invited to
participate in government decisions to the exclusion of competitor interests. In parliamentary system,
a party may have a narrow base and may try to win only a small number of legislative seats. (Browne,
n.d.)
Explain how interest groups try to influence the president and Congress as these two branches work
together to make policy. Trying to persuade government officials through direct inside contact is
called the inside game. Lobbying is another term for inside game. Lobbyists normally work for a
specific interest group, corporation, or law firm that specializes in professional lobbying. (Interest
Groups, 2012) Lobbying originates from the way interest groups played the inside games in the

Symbols In Zadie Smith s Embassy Of Cambodia
What does struggle mean to the average person? It may mean writing a trying essay, preparing for a
job interview, or even something as simple as riding a bike. However, in The Embassy of Cambodia,
Zadie Smith shows readers the real meaning of struggle through the main character, an unpaid
housemaid by the name of Fatou. There are many protruding themes in the story, but the most
prevalent moral of the story is, no matter how many times the big guy may knock one down, they
must always get up, and never let him win. In The Embassy of Cambodia, the game badminton and
the Embassy itself are symbols for Fatou and the struggles she faces every day. In the story, each
chapter is labeled with what seems to be a badminton score, ending with 0 21, ... Show more content

Fatou lingers by the Embassy every Monday before her swim despite the risks. The reader gets the
sense that she is drawn to the Embassy because it reminds her of herself. Similarly, the Old and New
People of Willesden and Andrew are intrigued by Fatou and drawn to her (Smith 13). The Embassy,
on the other hand, gets much more attention. The Embassy is a normal building, but it s placed in a
peculiar location. Embassies are typically in the heart of a city, or at least near it, but this Embassy is
located in the middle of the suburbs by a health center and a retirement home. This mysterious
building is out of place in the world, much like how Fatou is out of place in her world. She traveled
from place to place with her father before finally settling in London to be an underappreciated
housemaid that barely passes as a human rather than a slave. As a result, she has built tall walls like
the Embassy s and has become reserved and closed off to a degree. Despite the fact that Andrew is a
nice, intelligent, dorky guy that Fatou really wants to like some part of her rebel[s] against him, some
unholy part (Smith 8). This reflects the exclusive closed off nature of the Embassy. When the Embassy
gets a basketball goal in the back of it Fatou waits and waits for someone to play basketball, but it
never does. She s waiting for change. The goal moves closer to her and still, nothing happens. The

Building Quality Public Facilities For A Sustainable...
On September 30th, 1995 The Glenview Naval Air Base that had resided in Glenview, IL for 58 years,
was closed (About Glenview, n.d.). Next, the village worked with the Glenview Community Reuse
Planning Group and in conjunction with the United States Navy to plan and develop economic
alternatives for the Naval base (Master Plan and Design Guidelines, 2008). Over the next decade, The
Village worked towards the development The Glen Town Center, in efforts of attaining their goal of
creating a lasting source of pride for the community by building quality public amenities,
infrastructure, housing plus recreational and job opportunities (Master Plan and Design Guidelines,
2008). In its construction, The Glen utilizes several principals of the smart growth model, or the
sustainable development of healthy communities. The Glen successfully strengthens development
toward an existing community, creates a range of housing opportunities and choices, creates walkable
neighborhoods, provides a variety of transportation choices, takes advantages of compact building
design, and preserves open space, farmland, natural beauty and critical environmental areas
(Friedland, Relyea, Courard Hauri, 2012). As previously noted, The Glen was formerly a Naval Air
Station, but was reformed into the combination of residential and commercial areas we utilize today,
an integral portion of the smart growth model. Since the base was closed in 1995, the Village of

Summary Of Passing Nella Larsen
Nella larsen s passing disrupts the traditional conception of racial, ethnic and gender integrity. Larsens
has revolutionized the idea of acceptance of one s self identity.Larsen wrote this novel in the height of
the Harlem Renaissance . An era that is known for its growth and expanse in the artistic explosion that
happened in Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this period
Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, poets, and educated people. Many had
come from the South, running away from its terrible mistreatment and social class system in order to
find a place where they could freely express their talents. It involved racial pride, fueled in part by the
aggressiveness of the New Negro demanding civil and political rights. The Renaissance incorporated
jazz and the blues, attracting whites to Harlem, where couples danced. While it may have ... Show

After the chaos of the Spanish flu pandemic that struck the city in 1918 and 1919, she decided to
become a librarian and was employed at the 135th Street branch of the New York Public Library. At
the first look, Passing, the title of the short book may project many meanings to the reader. Passing
could refer to the change from life to death. Although the word passing could simply be referring to a
change , the word also suggests disguising oneself, or to take on a different identity. To pass, certainly
refers to a to cross an edge/border. While no significant suggestions of race or sexuality are given in
the title, it anyway suggests disguise, deceit and change . This changing period is quite possibly the
process that Nella Larsen is referring to in the title of her short book Passing. According to Webster,
change is defined as A passing or passage from one condition, action or place to another, and ...the

Slasher Informative Speech
The Slasher Film: The Modern Day Fairy Tale
General Purpose: To inform the audience about the psychological appeal of the slasher film, a brief
history of the genre, and the links to urban legends and fairy tales.
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about direct link to morality tales and the slasher film genre.
Thesis Statement: Slasher films are modern day morality tales, rooted deeply in urban legends and
fairy tales, as clearly depicted in John Carpenter s Halloween, where characters are punished with
violence for their risky behavior.
I. Introduction
A. When asked to describe the two types of horror films, director Guillermo del Toro stated: Much
like fairy tales, there are two facets of horror. One is pro institution, which is the most reprehensible
type of fairy tale: Don t wander into the woods, and always obey your parents. The other type of fairy
tale is completely anarchic and antiestablishment Guillermo del Toro. (Attention Getter) In my
presentation I will focus on the aspect of the slasher film genre as modern day fairy tales, with an
underlying message of morality.
B. John Carpenter s 1978 film Halloween epitomizes the slasher films, encompassing the most
common themes of this genre, including teenagers making the transition into adulthood by engaging in
reckless behavior, a maniac using violence as a teaching tool for the audience, a final survivor girl,
and an immortal maniac. (Thesis)
C. In my presentation I will briefly describe the history

1. What speech sounds do you expect that this child will have difficulty perceiving?
Left ear difficulty perceiving: p, k, f, s, th
Right ear difficulty perceiving: j, m, n, ng, z, d, v, b, o, I, a, r, p, ch, h, sh, g, k, f, s, th
2. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why?
I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in
higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range.
Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds.
3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s speech abilities
and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you know about
them?
Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel with
language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is mostly
because of the age and condition of the hearing aids.
It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even
more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to moderate
hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of
the time. In Julie s case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to the

The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social...
The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social networking sites
have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their impact on society is both
positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both sides of the impact social
networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that
in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive
implications of social networking sites have no boundaries. Communication between people in the
past was, either over the phone or via letter, just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published
that just 7% of American adults used social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a
result, in this growth and popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking
sites. It was surely inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence
how most of us live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat
or just keep in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This
being a very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from
frequent contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to
inform the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways

The United States Of America Elected A New President Essay
On November 9, 2016 the United States of America elected a new president. Donald J. Trump won the
Electoral College and will take office on January 20, 2017. However, the president elect lost the
popular vote by more than 1.5 million votes (MSNBC, 2016). Although this was already the case
when George W. Bush won against Al Gore in 2000, the country is now more dividend than in the
past. One week after the election was over, 1000 students at Syracuse University protested against Mr.
Trump and declared that they reject the president elect (Daily Orange, 2016). Nationwide, protesters
conveyed the unique message that they are ready to disobey executive actions of a Trump
administration. This poses a general question. What role should obedience play in modern western
nations? Although autonomous obedience can unleash valuable group dynamics, extreme compulsory
obedience can lead to disastrous outcomes. History indicates that obedience in the context of a nation
is most successful when people see substantial reasons to obey the orders of a government and its
subdivisions. During World War II the American military defeated fascism on various geographical
fronts. Although it was not mandatory to serve in the US military, many volunteers were ready to fight
for American values like individual freedom and democracy. This created what Lieutenant Colonel
Kenneth H. Wenker calls autonomous obedience (Walker, 1981). According to the Professor of
Philosophy at the US Air Force Academy,

found Untitled #8 (2014) by Mickalene Thomas is a contemporary African American artist born
January 28, 1917 in Camden, New Jersey.
Thomas is best known for her paintings composed of rhinestones, acrylic, and enamel. She uses these

contemporary work draws from the world her and uses inspirations from history, pop culture to
expand on different visions of race, beauty, sexuality, and gender. Untiled #8 was originally presented
in her collection called Tête de Femme that opened in 2014 in a solo exhibit in the Lehman Maupin

The face is over exaggerated in its features and is almost clown like. It tests the ideas of gender,
identity, and race. The only reason I would assume that this portrait is a woman because the collection
of which it was originally presented was named Head of a Woman. However, this easily can be
represented as a man due to its angles, and there was not an overly dominant color that is generally
associated with a specific gender. This leads into the topic of identity especially in the twenty first
century where people have become freer to express their identity and beliefs. Lastly, I think Thomas
was trying to add the topic of race into the piece with the afro inspired pattered and similarities to

Jonah
Jonah 2: 2 (NKJV) In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me.
What is Jonah s background? Jonah or Jonas is the name given in the Hebrew Bible to a prophet of the
northern kingdom of Israel in about the 8th century BCE. Jonah was the main character of the book of
Jonah. He was the son of Amittai (Jonah 1:1), and a native of Gathhepher, which was a city of the
tribe of Zebulun in the northern Galilee region. Amittai was also a native of Gath hepher. Amittai is
only mentioned twice in the Bible, in 2 Kings 14:25 and Jonah 1:1. Nothing is known about him, other
than that he was Jonah s father. Jonah was a prophet of the Lord and he was called to deliver a
message of repentance to the city of Nineveh which was the capital of the Assyrian Empire. The
Assyrians were among the wicked peoples of the ancient world, and they were well known for their

Compare And Contrast The Turn Of The Screw And Death By...
Although The Turn of the Screw (1898) by Henry James is a century older than Margaret Atwood s
Death by Landscape (1990), it is not impossible to connect the stories to each other. The stories
contents are different The Turn of the Screw is a Gothic ghost story, whereas Death by Landscape is a
more psychological story of a woman who tries to deal with a childhood trauma, namely the death of
her friend , but there are some aspects in which the stories are similar. Both texts have an open ending,
which is particularly interesting in terms of building up the unresolved suspense of the story. The
suspense created in the narration is not only achieved by the open ending, but also by literary

The Turn of the Screw can be read as a real ghost story: in this case, the ghosts are real and the story
really is about good and evil. This does not particularly mean that the governess is mentally stable,
because she still has her issues (like the fact that she falls in love easily), but it would explain her
protecting behavior towards the children. In this reading, Miles s death is interpreted as a consequence
of the governess s failure of protecting the children: she was unable to shield him from Peter Quint s
evil. In the psychological reading, the governess is mentally unstable and hallucinates the appearance
of the ghosts. In fact, this seems to be a plausible reading of the story, taking all the arguments of the
governess s unreliability in account. That way, the hallucinations are a consequence of her isolation
and sexual frustration. Miles s death is then interpreted as the governess (accidentally?) choking the
boy to death. Death by Landscape can be interpreted in the same ways: the one in which the narrator is
reliable and Lois innocent, or the one in which the narrator is unreliable and Lois killed Lucy. The
story does contain some arguments that Lois killed Lucy: the gap at the moment of Lucy s
disappearance, Lois being jealous of

To reconcile is to weave a strong and more vibrant social fabric, based on the unique and diverse

Quebec s french citizens were going through a time of survival La Survivance where their language
was struggling to stay an official language of Canada (Unitas). Major conflict arose when the authority
made the schools provide french education for only the two beginning years in elementary (Unitas).
Their decision lead the French to consider the actions of the government as an act of treachery (

the children decide whether they wanted their child to be instructed in English or French. The
authority s resolution was perceived as favouring the english population. Due to all these issues the
Francophones wanted power so they could decide and give input regarding problems that involved

Stylistic Elements in A Ball for Daisy by Chris Raschka Essay
Chris Raschka s 2012 Caldecott Medal winning book, A Ball for Daisy, is a fun children s picture
book about a dog named Daisy and her love for her favorite red ball. The story shows how happy she
is when she plays with her ball. Daisy takes her ball with her everywhere. She plays with her ball,
sleeps with her ball, takes her ball with her on walks in the park, and more. One day, Daisy s ball was
snatched by another dog wanting to play. Unfortunately, the other dog accidentally destroyed the ball.
Daisy is very upset about this. Her owner threw the ball in the trash and took Daisy back home. Her

The illustrator uses different types of brush strokes and colors of the background to show Daisy s
emotions throughout the story. Most of the story is in horizontal frames to show sequential action.
Some of the frames are in smaller boxes and can be read from either left to right across one page,
across both pages, or even top to bottom. Daisy s owner s face was not shown until the middle of the
book, which keeps your attention on the main character, Daisy. Some of the different pictures do not
have specific frames around them, but you can still see that they are a different scene. Raschka uses
different sized frames on every page. The most significant stylist element of the illustrations used in A
Ball for Daisy is the different sizes of the pictures. At the beginning of the story, Raschka uses larger
pictures to show how happy Daisy is playing with her ball. He then uses multiple smaller pictures for
the stages of Daisy falling asleep and then one big picture of her actually sleeping. There is then one
big picture of Daisy about to go to the park, then multiple smaller pictures of her and her owner
walking to the park. Next, there is one big picture of Daisy and the other dog with the ball, then
smaller pictures of the other dog playing with her ball. Later in the story there are eight pictures of
Daisy with her destroyed ball across two pages, which you can read in any order that you chose. There
is then a big picture with her owner, and one with Daisy and the popped

Domestic Violence Offenders
Above all, getting domestic violence offenders stricter punishments will help several things. It will
lower the rates of domestic violence, and it will create fewer injuries. Domestic violence offenders
should acquire stricter punishments. They don t deserve to be discharged for doing such a terrible
thing. The most important issue here is how much danger the victim is in if the offender is not
arrested. The victim of a domestic violence situation is put in a great deal of danger when the offender
is not arrested. In a study done in Minneapolis, Lawrence Sherman learned that mandatory arrests in

It s not healthy for them to have to live with the offender, and fear that they will be abused. If the
police are called, these things will not reoccur. A study in Ohio shows that offenders who were

again. (3) When there is more punishment, the offenders think about their actions, and weigh their
options, and don t want to be arrested again. In data collected in a 10 year time period, it says that
offenders were less likely to repeat violence when the police got called. (5) The offenders value their
families and would like to still be with them, but with their actions, it s not always the best idea. There
are 22 states, including the District of Columbia, that have mandatory arrest laws that require an arrest

(3) The offenders are not likely to violate the restraining order because then, they are more likely to be

pressing charges, and it could lead to offenders receiving treatment, protective orders, and more
penalties for repetitive domestic violence. (3) The best thing to do is to get protective orders and have

In this session, we discussed your feelings of helplessness and depression which stem from the recent
loss of your husband. You have stated how you do not wish to go out of the house but believe it is
good for you and how going out with friends does make you feel better; however, you rarely want to. I
liked your idea of going out of the house outside of work once a week. Also, you believe exercise
keeps you motivated and want to work out at least 15 minutes a day. Finally, talking to your mother in
law and sharing feelings with her would help you know there are people that emphasize with you is a
step you would feel would be beneficial. Our overall goal for these actions is for your negative
feelings to lessen. Does it sound reasonable to have you complete one of these actions this week?
Goal and Potential Actions:
The client is struggling to deal with the semi recent loss of her husband who passed away in a car
crash. Ever since his loss, she has been struggling with depression and although she knows there are
people around her who care for her, she struggles believing it. Throughout, this session the client
discusses her complete lack of energy and how leaving the house to get up to go to work is difficult
enough and she never wants to spend time with her friends like she used to. Every little thing she does
is difficult, and she feels disconnected from the rest of the world. The client holds the belief that no
one truly understands her situation.

Analysis Of The Pica Coffee Co. 2015 Annual Report
After reading the content for the Pica Coffee Co. 2015 Annual Report, their coffee was what resonated
with me. They go into great detail about how they grow and prepare their coffee, and how there s
nothing else like it. Which is why the concept is based off of their coffee.
The concept created for the report as a whole is: Pica coffee, and how good it really is. Like it says in
the text. Good coffee. Really, really good coffee.
To build on the concept, I thought it was important to incorporate coffee into the design as much as
possible. Which is why the whole report appears to have coffee stains throughout each page.
Signifying that their coffee is so good, that people just can t go without it; which is why there are

Why Did Tesla Win The Battle For Westinghouse
Tesla went to work for Westinghouse and helped him eventually win the battle for electrical power
distribution in the US and elsewhere. Edison was hell bent to electrify everything with DC, but found
that it was very inefficient and required more generating stations over shorter distances. But AC with
its ability to be stepped up in voltage by a transformer could be transmitted efficiently over very long
distances then stepped back down to usable levels where it was to be used. Tesla was a major player in
building the first big power generating plant at Niagara Falls, NY. In any case, he was a major player
in making AC the electrical power of choice. And despite his essential role and success, he never got
rich like the Westinghouses and

What Is The Reflection Of The Movie Shottas
For this assignment, I decided to reflect on the film Shottas . The film begins in the streets of
Kingston, Jamaica home of Biggs and Wayne, the two main characters. They lived within a very
dangerous and violent town, which drove them into their own violent lifestyle. As young men, how the
movie starts off, they rob the local drug dealers of a gun for a premeditated robbery. The money
allowed for them to purchase visas to come to Miami, Florida. While in the United States, as adults,
the two continue their criminal activities leading them to be deported back to their home in Jamaica.
Mad Max and Wayne, who was deported years before Biggs made his return, had already formed a
striving extortion business. Wayne made it mandatory for all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Analysis
When it comes to extortion, in my opinion, there are different levels when it comes to classifying it as
an organized crime. As young men, the boys decided to rob and shoot a delivery truck driver, in order,
to rob him of his earnings. They commited a robbery, however, it modded them into become
disciplined organized criminals and extortionist. I call this a minor because of the money they robbed
the driver of was nothing compared to the amounts of money they were extorting from the upperworld
and underworld people of power. Their behavior reflects the behaviors they have seen first hand
within their communities. The young children within the community are exposed first hand to the
violence of the local gangs and crimes. At this time, I believe, the issue was with the Jamaican
systems, as in educational and law enforcement. Along with the issue of the communities lack of
attention towards their new generations, is the issue of corruption. Aside from law enforcement being
able to keep up with the criminal activity, and being able to stop it, is the political officials being
corrupted. The film reflects on how the political world sometimes becomes involved in the organized
crime world. Reflecting on a reading we did this semester, when the upperworld connects itself with
organized criminals, it does not mean the official themself are involved in crimes themselves.
However, it allows for the organized crime to succeed and become a thriving

SAP offers front and back office software and services for rent or purchase through its mySAP.com
exchange, which hosts transactions between SAP clients and their vendors. To catch up with rivals in
this sector, SAP has launched a US subsidiary to build online marketplaces for large companies and
their suppliers. HISTORY Software engineers Hasso Plattner (co chairman and co chairman and co
CEO), Hans Werner Hector, Dietmar Hopp, and Klaus Tschira started SAP in 1972 when the project
they were working on for IBM was moved to another unit. The four agreed to write a program for
IBM customer Imperial Chemical Industries, and SAP (named for the IBM project they left Systems,
Applications, and Projects) was formed. While rival software companies made many products to
automate the various parts of a company s operations, these engineers decided to make a single system
that would tie a corporation together. In 1973 they launched an instantaneous accounting transaction
processing program called R/1. By 1981, with 200 customers already on board, they had adapted the
program to create R/2, mainframe software that linked external databases and communication

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Virtual Team
A virtual team are a group of people who work interdependently towards a shared purpose across
space, time and organization boundary using technology (Edwards Wilson, 2004). The team members
need not to originate from the same organization; it can be collaboration between several
organizations.
Due to rapid technological advancement, virtual working has significantly changed over the years
evident by the change in conducted to address the topic. Team work is becoming more common in the
corporate world and the virtual teams are created to ease the work coordination and increase
competitive advantage. The virtual team work members focus on a common goal with primary work

virtual work to organizations structures. There challenges and advantages can however not provide

What most researchers do not offer are critics to management deficits.
There tends to be a discrepancy when generalizations are made that the advantages of virtual teams
are far more than the disadvantages. Most researchers tend to concentrate on one side of the issue
either positively or negatively hence a possibility of narrow and biased conclusions.
The main flaw of virtual working researches relies on personal opinion rather than empirical data.
Absence of supporting evidence gives no way to judge the validity of the conclusions and as a result
undermine to the value of the work. These issues and problems with virtual teams tend to fade as the
team members become more experienced with the systems in virtual workplace(Lipnack, 1997).

(Ashley, et al., 2001) The degree of control is significant element of sustainability and the debate is
how local communities should be involved in the sustainable development of tourism in their area. If
sustainable tourism development is successful, it may help pro poor tourism to reduce the poverty in
different levels. (Mowforth Munt, 2003) To achieve the sustainable tourism in poor regions tourism
development needs to be well planned and managed and the overall environmental quality needs to be

In 1996 the government of South Africa published the White Paper on the Development and
Promotion of Tourism which set frameworks for South Africa s new tourism policy. (Richards Wilson,
2007) The White Paper identifies that community based tourism has a lot of potential on developing
South Africa s economy and implies many examples of community participation possibilities. It also
recognises the difficulties of community tourism, for example a lack of awareness, lack of information
or training and lack of access to finance. (Hughes Vaughan, 2001) Over the last decade there have
been major changes in tourism development and actions in community tourism and pro poor tourism

Masculinity In The Great Gatsby
Although Myrtle Wilson and Daisy Buchanan lie on opposite ends of the social spectrum, Fitzgerald
nevertheless characterizes the attitude of female inferiority in society, a social class distinction not
only based on wealth, but on gender as well. Male superiority is exemplified through Tom, a
representation of pure masculinity, in the way that he exerts control over the lives of both Daisy and
Myrtle. As his wife and mistress [slip] precipitately from his control (125), Tom begins to panic due to
his loss of dominance over the two women he had previously thought were secure from drifting away.
In regards to Gatsby, Tom s superiority is challenged when another man, especially a man of lower

1. Describe the development of black schools in the south after the Civil War? Black people saw
educations as a way of self emancipation. Slaves knew the importance of having a education, some of
them took the risk of going to secret school, where they were able to learn how to read and write.
Black decided to set up their own schools at their own expenses. With the help of free black men,
white yankee missionaries, and school teachers the first schools were established in the South. The
inspector of the Freedmen s Bureau when to the South and found around 500 native schools. Black

Ancient Civilization And Modern Day Iraq And Kuwait Essay
Ancient Sumerian Civilization The ancient civilization of Sumer was located in modern day Iraq and
Kuwait, and is believed to have begun around 6000 B.C. It is considered The cradle of civilization by
most historians, because it s where the first elaborate urban societies appeared. Sumerians were
polytheistic, and had a pantheon consisting of many gods and goddesses, who were anthropomorphic
superhumans. The Sumerians held a unique view of creation, the afterlife, and worship. They
contributed one of the most well known literary works The Epic of Gilgamesh , which tells of a hero s
quest to attain immortality. Within the Sumerian pantheon there were hundreds of gods, but four were
deemed the most important. This included An, god of the heavens, Enlil, the air god, Enki, the water
god, and Ninhursag, the mother goddess. It seems at one time An was seen as the greatest of all the
other gods, but later on Enlil took his place as the supreme deity. Enlil was seen as the father of the
gods, who brought good weather and abundant crops (Kramer,1963). Enki was credited for creating
the earth, and also saves man during the great flood by telling him to build an ark just like the biblical
flood account. Enki was also known for bringing wisdom and craftsmanship. Ninhursag was a fertility
goddess who brought nature and life to earth (Mark, 2011). The Enuma Elish, tells the story of
creation and the struggle for order between the gods. It begins with two separate waters swirling

Examples Of Social Outcasts In To Kill A Mockingbird
Prejudice and social expectations are the main cause of social outcasts and unfair treatment. In the
novel To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, many examples of unfair treatment and social
outcasts are used. Constantly, themes of prejudice and social expectations are accurately displayed by
creating outcasts in society and relying on pre judgments to judge behavior. She also accurately
displays the fact that not all people in the South during that time were prejudiced.
Social expectations are a strong aspect of the town of Maycomb in To Kill a Mockingbird. Many
outcasts are created using these expectations. In the story, the Radley s are viewed as a very odd

One example is the immediate arrest of Tom Robinson, an African American man who was accused of
raping a white woman. When Robinson was arrested the sheriff, Heck Tate, showed no mercy and did
not second guess himself. Prejudice is showed in this moment because Robinson was not questioned
at all when he was arrested, but if he had been white the demeanor would change. To further prove
that it would have a different outcome if Tom Robinson was white, Lee incorporates a quote that
recalls the time when Tate refuses to put a white man behind bars. The sheriff hadn t the heart to put
him in jail alongside Negroes... (Lee 14). Since the Sheriff hadn t put a white man who needed jail
time in jail because he would be surrounded by those of the opposite race, it shows a prejudice the
town had against African Americans. This is because it took no time at all to arrest Robinson, but
when I came down to a man of his own race, it became emotional and socially incorrect. Another
example of prejudice is when the town pre judges Mr. Dolphus Raymond as an evil man. As Mr.
Dolphus Raymond was an evil man I accepted his invitation reluctantly... (Lee 267). Mr. Dolphus
Raymond is a man who was supposed to get married to a white woman, but was also having sexual

Sectionalism In The 19th Century
Henry Clay once wrote: I know of no South, no North, no East, no West to which I owe my allegiance.
The Union is my country. (Pearson) He was referring to sense of Nationalism, a feeling that people
have of being loyal to and proud of their country. Nationalism is desire to consider the greater good of
the country. When specific geographic areas put their own needs and beliefs over the entire country,
sectionalism is born. Sectionalism is an identification with a geographic section and the cultural,
social, economic, and political interests of that section. (Sectionalism Facts) Sectionalism is a loyalty
to a section, rather than the country as a whole. Sectionalism can be traced back to the Manifest

Southerners relied on slaves to produce the cotton and considered those slaves as property, but
Northerners felt that slavery was in violation of the Constitutional right to liberty, the pursuit of
happiness, and equal rights. As the country expanded west and more states were added, there were
more issues with sectionalism. When Missouri requested statehood, they wanted to be admitted as a
slave state. If they had been allowed to join, the free states would have been outnumbered. Maine also
wanted to become a free state. To keep the balance of the nation, Henry Clay suggested the Missouri
Compromise that both states be admitted at the same time to keep the balance. (Cornell, p. 214) This
action continued to keep the country divided based upon the regional attitudes of slavery, however, it
did relieve the tension of what would happen if there wasn t a balance anymore. The Compromise of
1850 included the Fugitive Slave Law which also was an act of sectionalism. (Cornell, p. 347) Under
this law, runaway slaves could not be free if they escaped to the North, but rather they must be
returned to their owners. This law created more tension between the North and South because a
Northerner could be held accountable for harboring a fugitive if they helped a slave

Normally, if a system has a higher value than value, the system will be overloaded and the waiting
time can go to infinite levels. Though this case there is an exception, as is evident in Exhibit 8. After
the 18th hour the airport s arrivals are under operational capacity so the planes can be delayed to these
later hours, making the system still able to function. This roll over effect helps relieve some of the
over capacity at the 18th hour.
b. For hour 17 there is a 12.52 minute delay time.
The costs are $128.92 for the turbojet, $319.57 for the regional jet and $853.82 for the conventional
jet.
You cannot calculate the delay time/ delay cost for the 18th hour because the average arrival rate is
greater than the total expected runway capacity.
Under moderate weather conditions capacity drops down to 78 88 operations per hour.
Under severe weather conditions the capacity drops to 40 60 operations per hour.
In these weather conditions for both the 17th hour and 18th hour the arrival rate exceeds the runway
capacity, and we cannot calculate the waiting time. For severe weather, even if you get the planes out
at a later hour it would still take much longer than if there was moderate weather. Most planes will
land in hour 19 because it s not as busy.
4. Our overall recommendation to FAA for the city of Boston would not be to pick one option over the
other. The two different options: allowing Massport to build a new runway

Why Do Glaciers
Mendenhall Glacier Report Paragraphs Suraj Bansal
Glaciers are a dynamic perennial accumulations of ice that, together with ice sheets, represent a
significant portion of Earth s water and a volatile element in the changing climate. Although sea level
rise is a significant consequence of glacial change, the instability poses numerous hazards, though the
impacts are not as widespread. Glaciers are continuously changing in response to changes in
temperature, intermittent precipitation levels and other geological processes. Glacier ice crystals form
slowly through the metamorphism of snow to firn crystalline, known as bubbly ice. Glaciologists

A glacier is a balancing act between snow buildup and loss. As the ice moves down the slope, it passes
a point where snowfall no longer accumulates, and it begins to waste. Over time the glacier begins to
end; either at some point on land where the mass of ice cannot move forward any further, or into the
water as a tidewater glacier. These glaciers generally lose a lot of their mass by calving; chunks
breaking off in the water. Although a small portion of the total surface ice, glaciers hold a significant
amount of water, and are particularly fragile with short term climate changes when compared to ice
sheets. Ice sheets are large, continuous heat sinks that should take a while to feel any impact from

Christianity Rediscovered By Vincent J. Donovan
Christianity Rediscovered
Chapter One:
In the first chapter of Christianity Rediscovered by Vincent J. Donovan he is introducing us to the idea
that missionaries now have a poor reputation due to their history. He says History has offered the
opportunity to deflect and distort the meaning of missionary work in every age . For a long time a
missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have diminished
many different beliefs, practices, cultures and history. At the time it was thought to be the right thing,
to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and acceptance. In today s age a
missionary is a lot of different things, in many cases it is more focused on the health and physical
wellbeing of the people. Many people still share the gospel through missionary work, but in other
cases it is more of a material aid. Donovan introduces the book as a voyage of discovery he wants us
to put our normal beliefs aside to see his perspective of living a missionaries life and struggling with
the fact of if you are helping or hurting.
Donovan speaks about the missionaries who came to East Africa after they were taken into slavery.
The missionaries thought it would be a good idea to come over and buy the people to save them from
harsh lives, so they bought as many as they could. Doing this they also taught them all of their
customs and where forced into Christianity instead of their beliefs ways and cultures. This struck off a

Diffuse Low Grade Gliomas
Gliomas are the most common type of primary brain tumor, accounting for 10 20% of its total. (5,19
21). Histopathology pattern is the most important feature in glioma classification. (22) The 2007
WHO classification of tumors of the central nervous system divides gliomas into four main types,
with increasing degree of malignancy (from I IV). Low grade gliomas are defined a grade I and grade
II, in opposition to the high grade gliomas , WHO grade III and IV. The so called diffuse low grade
gliomas integrate 2007 WHO II class, and include diffuse astrocytomas, oligodendroglioma and
oligoastrocytoma (mixed glioma) (19). There are some pertinent critics to this grading system, such as
the great inter variability among neuropathologist experts. More importantly, 2007 WHO grading
doesn t contemplate the continuum between grade II and III. In fact, many DLGG has an intermediate
behavior, with some more aggressive microfoci lodged in the core of the neoplasm (19,23,24). Hence,
the term diffuse low grade glioma is preferred in this article.

Concentration Camp Research Paper
Bella Gonzalez Dina Hanna Daily Life in The Camps Life in a concentration camp was truly horrific,
as many are already aware. But we tend to overlook the small details about the daily lives of prisoners
that make the whole situation so much worse. The moment prisoners arrived at a concentration camp,
they were stripped of their names and possessions. They were all given a number, which was usually
tattooed on their wrists with sharp metal stamps . After this, their heads were shaved, and prisoners
were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received a black and white striped uniform, with
an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side of their shirts and jackets. These badges were
colored inverted triangles, used to let officers know what offense the prisoners were placed in the
camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue, criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political
prisoners were red, gypsies were brown, and Jehovah s Witnesses were purple. Jewish people had to
wear a yellow Star of David instead of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more
than one offense, they would be made to wear a yellow triangle with a colored inverted triangle on top
of it, forming the Star of David, but also showing the other offense through the color coded ... Show

Rations were cut nearly in half, and because prisoners were forced to labor most of the day, they died
of hunger. Nazis also used death marches . They literally took prisoners out in rough conditions and
made them march for hours for the sole purpose of wiping them out. However, the most commonly
used method of extermination was a gas chamber. Prisoners were locked in a room, and a guard
dropped some Zyklon B pellets in with them. They died after due to the poisonous gas. Babies, young

Benefits Of A Fatigue Management Program Essay
Our company has operated as the leader in our industry for a long time. We have since fallen behind in
regards to our competitors in that, we have not implemented a fatigue management program. The
proposed program will operate at a significant loss ($1.5 million in the first year) with an annual drop
in cost of 10 12%. The cost of the program past year five will be $900,000. With that being said, the
possibility of lowering our liability in terms of potential incidents in the future significantly outweighs
the associated costs of our program. Overall, pilots and supervisors have a positive outlook on the
implementation of a fatigue management program. In addition to pilots not being fatigued while on
duty, when the research team spoke with our partner airlines, one of the airlines showed data that
demonstrated a 10 15% rise in productivity. Therefore, the following recommendations are presented
to the board:
1. Implement the fatigue management program as soon as possible. The potential gains and liability
decrease significantly outweigh the initial financial burden incurred by our airline.
2. Continue to communicate with our partner airlines, as they will provide essential information
pertaining to the implementation of the program.
3. Clear all proposed changes and introductions with the FAA, as they do have the final say in all
facets of operation regarding safety.
4. Consult with supervisors around our domestic hubs to determine the best way to implement the
program.

Caso Alpes Essay
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Speech On Dishwashers
Dishwashers have two prominent advantages for us which are saving our works and saving energy. It s
a matter of wonder that some people are still using dishwashing machines that were bought five years
ago or a decade ago because the newest devices are way better with its efficiency, cleaning
performance and quietness of operation. Many more features have been evolved a lot since last ten
years. With cheaper and older washing machines, you had to pre rinse your dishes. But now here we
present you 5 most useful and money worth dish washer in 2016 with the best brands.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST DISHWASHER?
CONVENIENCE
The most important thing while choosing the best dishwasher is the ease of its use. For the top
dishwashers, it means convenient loading.
CAPACITY
If you are about to buy a built in dishwasher, the proper consideration is a standard 24 inches model.
This one is a good option for twelve to fourteen place settings. There you also have 18 inches built in
dishwashers, but they are better for a small kitchen of a small family who will use dishwashing
machines seldom. Countertop portable dishwasher is great for small families and couples, because it
supports 4 6 place settings
MULTIPLE CYCLES
You need to consider such a washing machine that allows you to adjust racks having many silverware
slots and fold down tines. A dishwasher with multiple cycles is that s why recommended. The ideal
dishwasher is that adapts to the food it has to be cleaned and the type of the dishes

Making Digital Outcomes And Specialists Work Better For You
Draft title: Making Digital Outcomes and Specialists work better for you (Part 1)
We ve been continuously improving Digital Outcomes and Specialists since it arrived on the Digital
Marketplace in April. Our development team works in 2 week sprints. These are set periods during
which specific work is completed. During each sprint, we work on new features and changes that are
prioritised according to the user need and its impact. Because each sprint is only 2 weeks, it also
means that we can take in new user feedback and reprioritise what we need to work on.
There have been 5 sprints during the time that Digital Outcomes and Specialists has been available.
We also opened G Cloud 8 submissions and introduced an improved way to return signed framework
agreements in this period. But, our main focus has been on identifying and solving any problems that
our users have with Digital Outcomes and Specialists.
We have identified and solved several user needs. These changes are now live on the Digital
Marketplace. In our next post, we ll be updating you on some of the things we re currently working on
to make Digital Outcomes and Specialists better. But first, we d like to talk about some problems we
found, and the ways we have solved them.

Time And The River Essay
Does historical fiction have a duty to be factually accurate? It s a question many people found
themselves discussing a lot lately. It s certainly true that historical fiction is enjoying a boom at the
moment, but for many readers, a historical novel might be their point of entry or perhaps their only
real window to a particular period. Historical fiction offers readers a narrative that takes place during a
specific period in history. It often focuses on a specific event and presents some of the actual events at
that time through the presumed voices of actual people, meanwhile offering a particular view of
people living in that period. The extent of the accuracy of the historical detail varies greatly. In some
historical fiction, famous events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more is historical accuracy in detail and theme, the necessary elements of a meaningful historical
exploration are seen through fiction. The conflicts of men and women in history become real to the
student because these men and women can be presented in their human dimension. They are mothers,
fathers, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, who are caught up in a particular event. Their
defeats and successes evoke an emotional response from readers. This response draws people into the
world of the past and imbues their perspective with a historical dimension. The historical figures
emerge as human beings responding to a human condition in the context of history. Edgell s literary

exploring the intimate relationship between slaves and their masters or blacks and whites during
slavery. She represents history as a complex entity, the institution of slavery as an unstable, although
oppressive, historical phenomenon, whose presence informs and distorts the Belize of the present.
Finally, historical fiction novels are important to understand the complex history because it illuminate
and verify the era, themes, and characters it deals with

The Grandmother O Connor Analysis
This family is portrayed by O Connor as wannabe perfectionism by thinking they are better than they
truly are, but the grandmother specifically is the worst of them. She tries to convince the family to
take a trip to Tennessee rather than Florida which is their usual vacation spot. The grandma persuades
them all by saying that there is a misfit of an escaped convict in Florida to make the decision on where
to go a no brainer. Bailey knows that wherever they go, grandma will also go. On the trip towards
Florida, they detour to an unknown road the grandma thought she visited before, unfortunate events
happen while on this road; her cat gets out of its cage and manages to startles the driver Bailey who
ends up crashing and getting them killed.
The grandmother s concern for the trip is ironic since the trip ends up going sour even though the
grandma had tried avoiding possible dangerous situation especially with the scare of the escaped
convict. Grandmothers concern foreshadows the trip, first the fact that she dressed in a floral dress and
hat, just in case of an accident people would know she is a lady, as if preparing for a possible funeral.
A second foreshadowing occurs when Bailey reads the article of the escaped convict and the
grandmother responds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She isn t one to be confrontational instead she subtlety mentions suggestions that appeal more to get
what she wants. Bailey did not want the grandmothers cat on the trip and she sneakily bring the cat
along in a basket. While they are on the road she mentions a plantation she had visited and since she
knows Bailey won t just go for her so she talks so good about the house that the kids end up doing her
work for her and they go off route to see the plantation. At this point you realize that the grandmother
is quite selfish and manipulation is the solution she found to get her

Essay On If Life Exist On Other Planets
Since the beginning of time, humans have looked out into space and wondered, are we are alone? This
curiosity about our own place in the universe has inspired many ideas and stories that attempt to
explain how life could exist on other planets. Scientists at NASA have been discovering evidence that
suggests it may be possible for life to exist on another planet within our own solar system. I have
always been interested in the mysteries of the universe, and never pass up an opportunity to learn
more about it. One current theory for the possibility life on other planets focuses on Jupiter s moon
Europa, a moon the size of a small planet. What evidence is there that life could even exist on a moon
encased in ice? How could a moon so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the thickest ice on earth ever recorded is a little over 4 km thick and is located in Antarctica. To
give you some perspective, 10 kilometers is about from Citrus College to the 10 freeway, and that s
just the minimum thickness, astronomers don t know for sure yet how deep the ice actually is. But
how could liquid water exist on a planet so far from the sun?
You might be asking yourself, why isn t the moon solid ice, similar to the former planet Pluto? Even
though Europa is much further from the sun than Earth, its inner ocean is believed to have warm
water, at least warm enough to be liquid. It gets much of its heat due to Jupiter s gravity, pulling the
oceans as it makes its orbit and creates friction with the ice and the salt water ocean underneath. This
effect is similar to the tides here on Earth. Europa s liquid ocean is estimated to contain about twice
the amount of liquid water than all of Earth s oceans. Most of Earth s oceans still remain unexplored,
and the life that exists there, undiscovered. Imagine what might exist under an ocean twice that size.
Scientists suspect Europa s ocean may have enough oxygen to be able to support life, however,
according to NASA in an article published by phys.org, a science news website, the kind of life we
may expect to find (if any) would be micro organisms similar to the single celled forms of

Model Of Counterproductive Work Behavior
A Stressor Emotion Model of Counterproductive Work Behavior:
Spector and Fox (2002, 2005) developed a model of Counterproductive work Behavior. The central
importance, in this model, is given to emotions as a response to workplace stressors. At the heart of
this model is the connection from the environment to perceptions, to emotions, and then to CWB.
According to Spector and Fox, employees perceive and appraise conditions and events at work. The
perceived stressors induce negative emotions (i.e. anger, anxiety, and depression) and contribute to
Counterproductive work Behavior that can occur immediately and impulsively or at a later time.
Control and personality are two other factors having important role in stressor emotion model because
both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this type of CWB, the employee deliberately hampers the quality and quality of work by not
performing a task which he was capable of performing, and thus negatively affects organizational
efficiency (Hollinger and Clark 1982). So when employees do not perform a task which they can, they
are indulged in production deviance (Spector et. al.2006). This is another serious from of
counterproductive work behavior because an employee who is supposed to facilitate organizational
performance is intentionally creating hurdles in the way of its success.
Sabotage:
Sabotage is another dimension of counterproductive work behavior which is closely linked to the
concept of production deviance. In this act an employee damages the physical assets in the
organization by engaging in seditious activities (Chen and Spector 1992). Defaming your organization
by criticizing it publically and misuse of information and communication technology against
organizational interest also fall under the dimension of sabotage (Weatherbee2010). Sabotage also
produces negative impact on organizations by damaging its productivity good name.
Theoretically both these counterproductive work behaviors are intertwined despite the reality that
productive deviance is a passive and sabotage is an active approach (Spector et

Various Approaches Of System Analysis
Various Approaches for Systems Analysis and Design Introduction First, we look what is the
difference between system analysis and system design. System analysis is a problem solving
technique that decomposes the system into its component pieces and system design is a
complimentary problem solving technique that reassembles the component pieces of the system back
into a complete system. When we are developing an information system, most organizations use a
standard of steps. The steps are called development lifecycle(SDLC). SDLC consists of phases such as
planning, analysis, implementation, design, and maintenance. Analysis phase is where you take a
closer look and study the current system. The design phase, analysts design all aspects of the system,
specifying on the system from input and output screens to database, computers, and report processes.
About System Analysis and System Design There are a lot of technical activities that include: coding,
design, system definition, testing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike waterfall development methodology, agile foresees the documentation but is initially unwilling
to adapt such as adding a lot new facets to the development model. Gabe, M. said, Agile
methodologies attempt to capture and use the dynamics of change inherent in software development in
the development process itself rather than resisting the ever present and quickly changing
environment. . Demand of traditional methods complete and accurate requirement before the
development; agile methods presume that change is strict, unavoidable and must be embraced
throughout the cycle of product development. Cao, L. and Ramesh, B. believes individuals who fill
those roles are much more important than the roles that people fill. Fowler also believes that each
talented individual brings something unique to a team that are developing the system and disagrees
with the application of engineering

  • 2. The Effect Of A Reduced Quantity Of Light Introduction In this study, the focus is on the effect of a reduced quantity of light being the intensity of the light and quality of the light being the wavelengths that the chloroplast isolate of Spinach beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. cicla) is exposed to, and whether the results indicated have a connection to the effect of the difference in lights in forests, and hence the effect on seedlings and plants underneath dense canopies and their ability to photosynthesis, therefore their photosynthetic activity. Together with investigating whether the intensity of the light or the quality has a greater effect on the rate of photosynthetic activity, was also the effect of varying densities of chloroplasts on the rate of activity. The ability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Pitelka et al 1985, Lawson 2010) Current studies already taken place explore the fact that certain wavelengths of light are more capable of fuelling photosynthesis (Halliwell B, 1984), demonstrating how certain wavelengths such as blue and red sections of the visible light spectrum will be absorbed by the photosynthetic organisms and then transferred along the electron transport chain, while others portions of the visible light spectrum are not absorbed such as the green section therefore, indicating why in dense forests with limiting direct light is available green light is transmitted (Lee D, 1987, Endler J, 1993). To investigate the photosynthetic affect of different light wavelengths and light intensities on Spinach Beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. cicla) the flow of the electrons through the electron transport chain will be observed through the absorption change of the chemical DCPIP, demonstrating the colour and therefore the absorbance is proportional to the photosynthetic activity, measured using a spectrophotometer. Method To prepare the live chloroplast, 4g of spinach leaf were grinded with 15 ml of ice cold isolation median into a smooth paste, and filtered (finely as possibly), it was centrifuged at 1300xg at 4°C for 5 minutes. The supernatant was decanted separating it from the dark green layer. Again ice cold isolation medium was added to the tube containing the dark green layer to have ~1ml of isolate, the ... Interest group usually a voluntary organization where members share a common interest in which they seek to influence public policy, without seeking political control. They have primary activities such as lobbying the members of the legislative bodies through contributions to political parties, trying to elect sympathetic or pliable politicians, and by conducting covert or open propaganda campaigns. (1) They seek to win elections or electoral positions; (2) they reorganize around those periodic elections and then may become less active, and (3) they depend on the local mobilization of voters who support political candidates but not necessarily the party organization. Interest groups are more issue oriented, are continuously maintained, and are dependent on supporters who identify with their organization. (Browne, n.d.) One thing that differentiates political parties from interest groups arises from the nature of the political system in which they operate and from the various electoral rules and structures that exist in different countries. In corporatist societies, interest groups may be invited to participate in government decisions to the exclusion of competitor interests. In parliamentary system, a party may have a narrow base and may try to win only a small number of legislative seats. (Browne, n.d.) Explain how interest groups try to influence the president and Congress as these two branches work together to make policy. Trying to persuade government officials through direct inside contact is called the inside game. Lobbying is another term for inside game. Lobbyists normally work for a specific interest group, corporation, or law firm that specializes in professional lobbying. • 4. Symbols In Zadie Smith s Embassy Of Cambodia What does struggle mean to the average person? It may mean writing a trying essay, preparing for a job interview, or even something as simple as riding a bike. However, in The Embassy of Cambodia, Zadie Smith shows readers the real meaning of struggle through the main character, an unpaid housemaid by the name of Fatou. There are many protruding themes in the story, but the most prevalent moral of the story is, no matter how many times the big guy may knock one down, they must always get up, and never let him win. In The Embassy of Cambodia, the game badminton and the Embassy itself are symbols for Fatou and the struggles she faces every day. In the story, each chapter is labeled with what seems to be a badminton score, ending with 0 21, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fatou lingers by the Embassy every Monday before her swim despite the risks. The reader gets the sense that she is drawn to the Embassy because it reminds her of herself. Similarly, the Old and New People of Willesden and Andrew are intrigued by Fatou and drawn to her (Smith 13). The Embassy, on the other hand, gets much more attention. The Embassy is a normal building, but it s placed in a peculiar location. Embassies are typically in the heart of a city, or at least near it, but this Embassy is located in the middle of the suburbs by a health center and a retirement home. This mysterious building is out of place in the world, much like how Fatou is out of place in her world. She traveled from place to place with her father before finally settling in London to be an underappreciated housemaid that barely passes as a human rather than a slave. As a result, she has built tall walls like the Embassy s and has become reserved and closed off to a degree. Despite the fact that Andrew is a nice, intelligent, dorky guy that Fatou really wants to like some part of her rebel[s] against him, some unholy part (Smith 8). This reflects the exclusive closed off nature of the Embassy. When the Embassy gets a basketball goal in the back of it Fatou waits and waits for someone to play basketball, but it never does. She s waiting for change. The goal moves closer to her and still, nothing happens. The change in the Embassy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An era that is known for its growth and expanse in the artistic explosion that happened in Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this period Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, poets, and educated people. Many had come from the South, running away from its terrible mistreatment and social class system in order to find a place where they could freely express their talents. It involved racial pride, fueled in part by the aggressiveness of the New Negro demanding civil and political rights. Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about direct link to morality tales and the slasher film genre. Thesis Statement: Slasher films are modern day morality tales, rooted deeply in urban legends and fairy tales, as clearly depicted in John Carpenter s Halloween, where characters are punished with violence for their risky behavior. I. Introduction A. When asked to describe the two types of horror films, director Guillermo del Toro stated: Much like fairy tales, there are two facets of horror. One is pro institution, which is the most reprehensible type of fairy tale: Don t wander into the woods, and always obey your parents. The other type of fairy tale is completely anarchic and antiestablishment Guillermo del Toro. (Attention Getter) In my presentation I will focus on the aspect of the slasher film genre as modern day fairy tales, with an underlying message of morality. B. John Carpenter s 1978 film Halloween epitomizes the slasher films, encompassing the most common themes of this genre, including teenagers making the transition into adulthood by engaging in reckless behavior, a maniac using violence as a teaching tool for the audience, a final survivor girl, and an immortal maniac. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why? I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range. Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds. 3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s speech abilities and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you know about them? Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel with language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is mostly because of the age and condition of the hearing aids. It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to moderate hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of the time. • 10. The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social... The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social networking sites have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their impact on society is both positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both sides of the impact social networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive implications of social networking sites have no boundaries. Communication between people in the past was, either over the phone or via letter, just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published that just 7% of American adults used social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a result, in this growth and popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking sites. It was surely inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence how most of us live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat or just keep in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This being a very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from frequent contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to inform the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trump won the Electoral College and will take office on January 20, 2017. However, the president elect lost the popular vote by more than 1.5 million votes (MSNBC, 2016). Although this was already the case when George W. Bush won against Al Gore in 2000, the country is now more dividend than in the past. One week after the election was over, 1000 students at Syracuse University protested against Mr. Trump and declared that they reject the president elect (Daily Orange, 2016). Nationwide, protesters conveyed the unique message that they are ready to disobey executive actions of a Trump administration. This poses a general question. What role should obedience play in modern western nations? Although autonomous obedience can unleash valuable group dynamics, extreme compulsory obedience can lead to disastrous outcomes. History indicates that obedience in the context of a nation is most successful when people see substantial reasons to obey the orders of a government and its subdivisions. During World War II the American military defeated fascism on various geographical fronts. Although it was not mandatory to serve in the US military, many volunteers were ready to fight for American values like individual freedom and democracy. This created what Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth H. Wenker calls autonomous obedience (Walker, 1981). According to the Professor of Philosophy at the US Air Force Academy, ... What is Jonah s background? Jonah or Jonas is the name given in the Hebrew Bible to a prophet of the northern kingdom of Israel in about the 8th century BCE. The Turn of the Screw can be read as a real ghost story: in this case, the ghosts are real and the story really is about good and evil. This does not particularly mean that the governess is mentally stable, because she still has her issues (like the fact that she falls in love easily), but it would explain her protecting behavior towards the children. In this reading, Miles s death is interpreted as a consequence of the governess s failure of protecting the children: she was unable to shield him from Peter Quint s evil. In the psychological reading, the governess is mentally unstable and hallucinates the appearance of the ghosts. In fact, this seems to be a plausible reading of the story, taking all the arguments of the governess s unreliability in account. That way, the hallucinations are a consequence of her isolation and sexual frustration. Miles s death is then interpreted as the governess (accidentally?) choking the boy to death. Death by Landscape can be interpreted in the same ways: the one in which the narrator is reliable and Lois innocent, or the one in which the narrator is unreliable and Lois killed Lucy. • 20. Reflection Paper On Going Out Of Work Summary*: In this session, we discussed your feelings of helplessness and depression which stem from the recent loss of your husband. You have stated how you do not wish to go out of the house but believe it is good for you and how going out with friends does make you feel better; however, you rarely want to. I liked your idea of going out of the house outside of work once a week. Also, you believe exercise keeps you motivated and want to work out at least 15 minutes a day. Finally, talking to your mother in law and sharing feelings with her would help you know there are people that emphasize with you is a step you would feel would be beneficial. Our overall goal for these actions is for your negative feelings to lessen. Does it sound reasonable to have you complete one of these actions this week? Goal and Potential Actions: The client is struggling to deal with the semi recent loss of her husband who passed away in a car crash. Ever since his loss, she has been struggling with depression and although she knows there are people around her who care for her, she struggles believing it. Throughout, this session the client discusses her complete lack of energy and how leaving the house to get up to go to work is difficult enough and she never wants to spend time with her friends like she used to. Every little thing she does is difficult, and she feels disconnected from the rest of the world. The client holds the belief that no one truly understands her situation. The client ... The film begins in the streets of Kingston, Jamaica home of Biggs and Wayne, the two main characters. They lived within a very dangerous and violent town, which drove them into their own violent lifestyle. As young men, how the movie starts off, they rob the local drug dealers of a gun for a premeditated robbery. The money allowed for them to purchase visas to come to Miami, Florida. Analysis When it comes to extortion, in my opinion, there are different levels when it comes to classifying it as an organized crime. As young men, the boys decided to rob and shoot a delivery truck driver, in order, to rob him of his earnings. They commited a robbery, however, it modded them into become disciplined organized criminals and extortionist. I call this a minor because of the money they robbed the driver of was nothing compared to the amounts of money they were extorting from the upperworld and underworld people of power. Their behavior reflects the behaviors they have seen first hand within their communities. The young children within the community are exposed first hand to the violence of the local gangs and crimes. At this time, I believe, the issue was with the Jamaican systems, as in educational and law enforcement. Along with the issue of the communities lack of attention towards their new generations, is the issue of corruption. Aside from law enforcement being able to keep up with the criminal activity, and being able to stop it, is the political officials being corrupted. The film reflects on how the political world sometimes becomes involved in the organized crime world. Reflecting on a reading we did this semester, when the upperworld connects itself with organized criminals, it does not mean the official themself are involved in crimes themselves. However, it allows for the organized crime to succeed and become a thriving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is considered The cradle of civilization by most historians, because it s where the first elaborate urban societies appeared. Sumerians were polytheistic, and had a pantheon consisting of many gods and goddesses, who were anthropomorphic superhumans. The Sumerians held a unique view of creation, the afterlife, and worship. They contributed one of the most well known literary works The Epic of Gilgamesh , which tells of a hero s quest to attain immortality. Within the Sumerian pantheon there were hundreds of gods, but four were deemed the most important. This included An, god of the heavens, Enlil, the air god, Enki, the water god, and Ninhursag, the mother goddess. Enlil was seen as the father of the gods, who brought good weather and abundant crops (Kramer,1963). Enki was credited for creating the earth, and also saves man during the great flood by telling him to build an ark just like the biblical flood account. After the 18th hour the airport s arrivals are under operational capacity so the planes can be delayed to these later hours, making the system still able to function. This roll over effect helps relieve some of the over capacity at the 18th hour. b. For hour 17 there is a 12.52 minute delay time. The costs are $128.92 for the turbojet, $319.57 for the regional jet and $853.82 for the conventional jet. In these weather conditions for both the 17th hour and 18th hour the arrival rate exceeds the runway capacity, and we cannot calculate the waiting time. For a long time a missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have diminished many different beliefs, practices, cultures and history. At the time it was thought to be the right thing, to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and acceptance. • 39. Concentration Camp Research Paper Bella Gonzalez Dina Hanna Daily Life in The Camps Life in a concentration camp was truly horrific, as many are already aware. But we tend to overlook the small details about the daily lives of prisoners that make the whole situation so much worse. The moment prisoners arrived at a concentration camp, they were stripped of their names and possessions. They were all given a number, which was usually tattooed on their wrists with sharp metal stamps . After this, their heads were shaved, and prisoners were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received a black and white striped uniform, with an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side of their shirts and jackets. These badges were colored inverted triangles, used to let officers know what offense the prisoners were placed in the camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue, criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political prisoners were red, gypsies were brown, and Jehovah s Witnesses were purple. Jewish people had to wear a yellow Star of David instead of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more than one offense, they would be made to wear a yellow triangle with a colored inverted triangle on top of it, forming the Star of David, but also showing the other offense through the color coded ... With that being said, the possibility of lowering our liability in terms of potential incidents in the future significantly outweighs the associated costs of our program. Overall, pilots and supervisors have a positive outlook on the implementation of a fatigue management program. In addition to pilots not being fatigued while on duty, when the research team spoke with our partner airlines, one of the airlines showed data that demonstrated a 10 15% rise in productivity. Therefore, the following recommendations are presented to the board: 1. Implement the fatigue management program as soon as possible. The potential gains and liability decrease significantly outweigh the initial financial burden incurred by our airline. 2. Continue to communicate with our partner airlines, as they will provide essential information pertaining to the implementation of the program. 3. Clear all proposed changes and introductions with the FAA, as they do have the final say in all facets of operation regarding safety. 4. It s certainly true that historical fiction is enjoying a boom at the moment, but for many readers, a historical novel might be their point of entry or perhaps their only real window to a particular period. Historical fiction offers readers a narrative that takes place during a specific period in history. It often focuses on a specific event and presents some of the actual events at that time through the presumed voices of actual people, meanwhile offering a particular view of people living in that period. • 46. The Grandmother O Connor Analysis This family is portrayed by O Connor as wannabe perfectionism by thinking they are better than they truly are, but the grandmother specifically is the worst of them. She tries to convince the family to take a trip to Tennessee rather than Florida which is their usual vacation spot. The grandma persuades them all by saying that there is a misfit of an escaped convict in Florida to make the decision on where to go a no brainer. Bailey knows that wherever they go, grandma will also go. On the trip towards Florida, they detour to an unknown road the grandma thought she visited before, unfortunate events happen while on this road; her cat gets out of its cage and manages to startles the driver Bailey who ends up crashing and getting them killed. The grandmother s concern for the trip is ironic since the trip ends up going sour even though the grandma had tried avoiding possible dangerous situation especially with the scare of the escaped convict. Grandmothers concern foreshadows the trip, first the fact that she dressed in a floral dress and hat, just in case of an accident people would know she is a lady, as if preparing for a possible funeral. • 47. Essay On If Life Exist On Other Planets Since the beginning of time, humans have looked out into space and wondered, are we are alone? This curiosity about our own place in the universe has inspired many ideas and stories that attempt to explain how life could exist on other planets. Scientists at NASA have been discovering evidence that suggests it may be possible for life to exist on another planet within our own solar system. I have always been interested in the mysteries of the universe, and never pass up an opportunity to learn more about it. One current theory for the possibility life on other planets focuses on Jupiter s moon Europa, a moon the size of a small planet. What evidence is there that life could even exist on a moon encased in ice? How could a moon so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now the thickest ice on earth ever recorded is a little over 4 km thick and is located in Antarctica. To give you some perspective, 10 kilometers is about from Citrus College to the 10 freeway, and that s just the minimum thickness, astronomers don t know for sure yet how deep the ice actually is. But how could liquid water exist on a planet so far from the sun? You might be asking yourself, why isn t the moon solid ice, similar to the former planet Pluto? Even though Europa is much further from the sun than Earth, its inner ocean is believed to have warm water, at least warm enough to be liquid. It gets much of its heat due to Jupiter s gravity, pulling the oceans as it makes its orbit and creates friction with the ice and the salt water ocean underneath. This effect is similar to the tides here on Earth. Europa s liquid ocean is estimated to contain about twice the amount of liquid water than all of Earth s oceans. Most of Earth s oceans still remain unexplored, and the life that exists there, undiscovered. Imagine what might exist under an ocean twice that size. Scientists suspect Europa s ocean may have enough oxygen to be able to support life, however, according to NASA in an article published by phys.org, a science news website, the kind of life we may expect to find (if any) would be micro organisms similar to the single celled forms of ... • 48. Model Of Counterproductive Work Behavior A Stressor Emotion Model of Counterproductive Work Behavior: Spector and Fox (2002, 2005) developed a model of Counterproductive work Behavior. The central importance, in this model, is given to emotions as a response to workplace stressors. At the heart of this model is the connection from the environment to perceptions, to emotions, and then to CWB. According to Spector and Fox, employees perceive and appraise conditions and events at work. The perceived stressors induce negative emotions (i.e. anger, anxiety, and depression) and contribute to Counterproductive work Behavior that can occur immediately and impulsively or at a later time. Control and personality are two other factors having important role in stressor emotion model because both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this type of CWB, the employee deliberately hampers the quality and quality of work by not performing a task which he was capable of performing, and thus negatively affects organizational efficiency (Hollinger and Clark 1982). So when employees do not perform a task which they can, they are indulged in production deviance (Spector et. al.2006). This is another serious from of counterproductive work behavior because an employee who is supposed to facilitate organizational performance is intentionally creating hurdles in the way of its success. Sabotage: Sabotage is another dimension of counterproductive work behavior which is closely linked to the concept of production deviance. In this act an employee damages the physical assets in the organization by engaging in seditious activities (Chen and Spector 1992). Defaming your organization by criticizing it publically and misuse of information and communication technology against organizational interest also fall under the dimension of sabotage (Weatherbee2010). Sabotage also produces negative impact on organizations by damaging its productivity good name. Theoretically both these counterproductive work behaviors are intertwined despite the reality that productive deviance is a passive and sabotage is an active approach (Spector et ... System analysis is a problem solving technique that decomposes the system into its component pieces and system design is a complimentary problem solving technique that reassembles the component pieces of the system back into a complete system. When we are developing an information system, most organizations use a standard of steps. The steps are called development lifecycle(SDLC). SDLC consists of phases such as planning, analysis, implementation, design, and maintenance. Analysis phase is where you take a closer look and study the current system.
