The Terrible Old Man Essay
The Terrible Old Man
The Terrible Old Man is a short story written in 1920 by H.P. Lovecraft, who was a famous author
of sciene fiction, fantasy and last but not least horrer. I will, by analysing the characters, the setting
and the ending, try to interpret and find the main theme of this story. People often judge each other
by the way that they dress, by the work they have or by their amount of money. Sometimes that
judgement is fair but at other times it is most definitely not. The short story The Terrible Old Man is
one of those other times. The main character in his story is the Terrible Old Man. He is a very
mysterious man. He is quite old and is believed to have been a captain of east india clipper ships.
He leads a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was by nature reserved, and when one is aged and feeble, one s reserve is doubly strong.
Besides, so ancient a sea captain must have witnessed scores of things much more stirring in the
far off days of his unremembered youth. (section 7, l. 4).The text somehow changes from being
objective to being subjectively written from the view of the citizens of Kingsport. The ending
is written like there is no way that the Terrible Old Man could be the killer, because he is old,
weak and all alone. That is the image of how people are seing the old man. They are not even
giving it a second thought that he is not shocked by the story. They are judging him by his cover
. The main theme in this story is the old saying: You can t judge a book by its cover . Through
the whole story people are judging the Terrible Old Man by his cover. They are seeing an old,
weak, poor man who is unable to do anyone any harm, or even to defend himself. And the truth is
that he is quite dangerous and most certainly able to do others harm. In the end it is the mistake
that the robbers make by judging the Terrible Old Man on his covers that leads to their deaths. And
it is the mistake that the citizens make by judging him by his cover that leads to him getting away

Personal Statement On Life s Hustle And Bustle
In life s hustle and bustle sometimes it s easy to get lost in the whole process leaving you
wondering is your life leading you instead of you leading it. I needed to find some personal
fulfillment in my life. So I had to do a self check to discover what my true purpose was in this
life. How impactful was I in changing the world. I was completely satisfied raising my son and
being engaged in everything he was involved in. However, the closer it came for him to graduate
from high school the more I began to think about what my new life would be like. I had to deal
with the persisting question of what did I want to do with the rest of my life. Overall, I felt like I
was a pretty decent mother, an awesome friend, a loving sister and I have a faith based foundation.
Even with all those great attributes I still didn t know what my true purpose was here on earth.
When I think of the questions easily, the first thing I thought of was philanthropy. Living a
healthy lifestyle would be next. I m very excited about getting the chance to expound on my
future in leadership and mentoring rolls. Next, I want to explore what full potential and purpose
is and how can I be a positive impact on the world. At this stage of my life I feel that it says Yes to:
being a philanthropist, having a health and wellness for my body and soul as well as being involved
in leadership and mentoring.
Philanthropy was an easy choice for me because it s something that I ve been doing for quite some
time. I

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mortgage Loans
Homebuyers and homeowners need to decide which home Mortgage loan is right for them. Then,
the next step in getting a mortgage loan is to submit an application ( Uniform Residential Loan
Application ). Although we try to make the loan simple and easy for you, getting a mortgage loan is
not an insignificant process.
Below is a short synopsis of some loan types that are currently available.
CONVENTIONAL OR CONFORMING MORTGAGE Loans are the most common types of
mortgages. These include a fixed rate mortgage loan which is the most commonly sought of the
various loan programs. If your mortgage loan is conforming, you will likely have an easier time
finding a lender than if the loan is non conforming. For conforming mortgage loans, it does not
matter whether the mortgage loan is an adjustable rate mortgage or a fixed rate loan. We find that...

Whereas a Variable Rate Mortgage will fluctuate over the life of the loan. More specifically the
Adjustable Rate Mortgage loan is a loan that has a fluctuating interest rate. First time homebuyers
may take a risk on a variable rate for qualification purposes, but this should be refinanced to a fixed
rate as soon as possible.
A Balloon Mortgage loan is a short term loan that contains some risk for the borrower. Balloon
mortgages can help you get into a mortgage loan, but again should be financed into a more
reliable or stable payment product as soon as financially feasible. The Balloon Mortgage should be
well thought out with a plan in place when getting this product. For example, you may plan on
being in the home for only three years.
Despite the bad rap Sub Prime Mortgage loans are getting as of late, the market for this kind of
mortgage loan is still active, viable and necessary. Subprime loans will be here for the duration, but
because they are not government backed, stricter approval requirements will most likely

Jake s Survival In The Avatar
After experiencing the Avatar, with minimal training he is sent on his first mission on Pandora
where he sees a new world of plants, habitats and weather. He learns new thing about this planet,
growing rather attached to the energy it possesses. While exploring the group is stopped by an
animal who chases Jake off a waterfall, getting lost in the large forest landscape of Pandora. The
themes of Adventure acts as a sub genre in this film as it consists of exploration as Jake learns new
thing about the planet and the avatar. There is a continuous idea of entering the unknown in the
movie.
Grace continues looking for Jake but it gets dark and they have to wait for him to come back.
Jake is saved by a female Avatar after being chased by the viper wolves. This is when we meet

inhabitants have to the area. The film also explores the sub genre of Dystopian Fiction. This sub
genre explores the corruption and propaganda that engulfs the narrative. Such as the manipulation
of Jake and his disability, almost leaving him with no voice also subjecting his character into a sub

And unfortunately, many animals will be unable to adapt to changes, leading to the Earth s next
mass extinction.
When this mass extinction occurs, the Earth will lose a massive amount of its biodiversity.
Biodiversity is the variety of all lifeforms on the planet. And the biggest victims of this loss of
biodiversity would be the coral reefs, the most biodiverse ecosystem on the planet. The ocean
serves as a Carbon Sink , absorbing a large amount of Carbon but when the ocean absorbs too much
Carbon dioxide, it warms and a process known as ocean acidification occurs. The Carbon dioxide
mixes with the water and carbonate in the ocean creating bicarbonate ions (Talk), and when the
ocean gets too acidic, the corals die off, giving off a bleached look thus rending the ecosystem
uninhabitable. Hence the term Coral bleaching, this is huge because coral reefs contain about
25% of the world s marine biodiversity. From a human perspective, the biodiversity loss risk
human security. As many things can recede or disappear like medicines, or food sources may be

Reflection Of A Funeral Of My Friend s Aunt
Death Funeral customs vary according to the religion, culture, and ethnicity. Religion is the
foremost thing that plays an important role in a funeral event. From a cultural perspective when a
person dies they must be buried with two weeks in the Nigerian culture. This is because it allows
the family to heal faster and get over their loved one and also move into the next chapter. Well,
here I am going to describe my experience and observation of attending a funeralof my friend s

friend that is the mutual friend of me and my friend whose aunt had died. I did not receive a
proper invitation letter for that funeral, and the cemetery was far away from my house. I live in
Renton and the funeral was in Bremerton but attended the funeral anyway. I really wanted to
console my friend and let her know that she was not alone in this critical time. Funeral in my
Nigerian culture is highly valued to the point that everyone would be there whether invited or not.
It is perceived as a way to pay their last respect to the dead.

Contextual Inquiry
Contextual inquiry is developed by Beyer and Holtzblatt (1988). The data is collected through
contextual inquiry. Contextual inquiry is a qualitative study from various field such as psychology,
anthropology and sociology (Ghasemifard, Shamsi, Kenari, Ahmadi, 2015). Therefore contextual
inquiry method is carried out to assist the cognitive performance among users. The first step taken
is to observe users based on the usability testing methods in their cognitive performance while using
the app. Then questions are asked based on the existing problem discovered and the process taken
by users in completing their task through the app. There are four evaluators that participated in this
study to observe the usability of the application created and at the same time to jot down different
performances that may occur simultaneously in terms of their cognitive actions. According to the
International Organisation for Standardization (1998), the usability testing mode is used to measure
the effectiveness, efficiency, responses (Bastien, 2010) and satisfaction among the users. Usability
testing is carried out to measure the performance of user while using the app. The app is the
prototype that will be tested. The measurement of the performance includes... Show more content on

Contextual inquiry focuses on structured interviews although unstructured interviews were also
carried out in the beginning of the interview session. There are three principles of contextual
inquiry investigated such as the understanding of users in their task performance, users are also a

Organisational Structure And Organizational Structure Essay
PARDEEP SINGHND15345UNIT 9735 1.2 At least two different Organisational structures are
identified, described, and compared in terms of their design principles. Answer: 1.Organisational
structure is a system used to define a hierarchy within an Organisation. It identifies each job and its
function and where it reports to within the Organisation. This structure is developed to establish
how an Organisation operates and assists an Organisation in obtaining its goals to allow for future
growth. Organisational structure is particularly important for decision making. It is also important
that responsibilities are clearly defined. Each person has a job description that outlines duties, and
each job occupies its own position on the company Organisation chart. 2. There are two different
types of Organisational structure: Centralization and Decentralization structures Centralization:
Centralized Organisational structures rely on one individual to make decisions and provide
direction for the company. Small Businesses often use this structure since the owner is responsible
for the company s business operations. Decentralization: Decentralized Organisational structures
often have several individuals responsible for making business decisions and running the business.
Decentralized Organisations rely on a team environment at different levels in the business.
Individuals at each level in the business may have some autonomy to make business decisions 3.

Earthquakes In California
I felt very at home in California, but the place is prone to earthquakes, and the one in 1944 scared
the life out of me. For months afterwards, I felt that every time I sat down, I should have to put on
a seatbelt. Earthquakes are when tectonic plates slip past each other causing a snap . The ground
shakes violently and can even crack. Though the occurrence of an earthquakeis dreadful,
familiarizing yourself with the causes and effects can be useful, and in turn make it less scary.
Earthquakes are caused when rock at an underground fault breaks. This release of energy causes
seismic waves (Endsley). There are P waves, S waves, and surface waves (Hogan). This is the
main cause of earthquakes, though there has been a few, rare occurrences

An Interpretation of Kant’s Metaphysical Deduction of the...
In what appears to be an important section of the Critique of Pure Reason, when Kant attempts to
show the natural connection between the table of judgment and the table of categories, there is a
cryptic little paragraph:
The same function that gives unity to the different representations in a judgment also gives unity to
the mere synthesis of different representations in an intuition, which, expressed generally, is called
the pure concept of understanding. The same understanding, therefore, and indeed by means of the
very same actions through which it brings the logical form of a judgment into concepts by means
of the analytical unity, also brings a transcendental content into its representations by means of the
synthetic unity of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will provisionally think of it as referring to the faculty of understanding and not solely one or more
of the pure concepts of the understanding.11 The main interpretive dilemma of this passage
revolves around the term transcendental content. It may be the case that Kant wants to contrast the
Transcendental Logic s possession of objective content with general logic s lack of content.
However the term could also refer to the fact that the understanding has a transcendental function,
and could be indicating the transcendental nature of the categories. Each of these interpretations
will be evaluated in turn.
The Argument
At its most basic, with all the explanatory clauses stripped away the argument appears thus:22
P1 The Understanding gives unity to different representations in a judgment
P2 The Understanding gives unity to the synthesis of representations in an intuition.
C The Understanding Brings Transcendental Content to its representations.
Need anymore be said?33 The argument is easier to follow, though by no means clear, if we take
into account a missing or explanatory premise:
PE The very actions that brings the logical form of a judgment to concepts also brings a
transcendental content into the understanding s representations.
The most important element of the argument is the fact that it is the very same actions which allow
logical forms to be used in contentful judgments that necessitate the transcendental role of the

Song Airlines Business Case Essay
Song Airlines Case
Song airline was a low cost carrier subsidiary of Delta airlines that started in 2003. It was formed
to compete with JetBlue and other low cost airlines for the Florida market. The market
environment at the time of the case was extremely difficult with the rising costs of fuel, increasing
security requirements after 9/11 and customers expectations of lower fares. It has forced many big
players in the airline industry into bankruptcy. The operational costs which include gate fees,
ground operational costs etc. were increasing causing even more problems for the airlines. The
fares in the Florida route were decreasing while the costs were ever increasing making it difficult to
remain operational in that space.

7.Used novel techniques by opening concept stores in Boston and New York to attract customers.
Song Airlines spent a lot of time analyzing the past data and did a lot of market research to come up
these various strategy points. And I think, it clearly shows that they used experience curve
techniques to analyze and use the data like gate utilization, flight attendant working times, seat
usage, and flight route scheduling etc. to optimize the operational aspects of running the overall
operations. It was stated that based on these initiatives they achieved 20 В– 25% lower operational
costs in running the airline as compared to running it in a Delta configuration. By using the
various main concepts like low fares, great services and targeted marketing they were able to
achieve good success. By focusing on the main strategy aspects simultaneously like lowering
operational costs, optimizing logistics, increasing the service level and perceive value by
portraying a high end service, Song was able to integrate these various aspects nicely.
Some of the key opportunities in the current market environment for airline industry are:
1.Increasing Customer service levels. Consumers are generally expecting more fro airlines and
Song has already addressed this in original strategy which was very customer satisfaction based.
2.Understanding the responding to changing consumer behavior patterns. This is something

The Power Of Delaying Gratification Summary
lex Lickerman, author of the article The Power of Delaying Gratification , discuss the
experiment psychologist Walter Mischel did on the kids to understand their self control.
Basically, he gives a group of children a cookie and gives them to option either they could eat
the cookie immediately or they can wait until he comes back, however, if they wait for him to
back they will receive another cookie. Based on his experiment he concludes that the kid who
resist to eat a cookie and wait for him to gain another cookie they will do better in the school
than the kids who did not resist. For instances, they will get higher sat scores than who eat the
cookie immediately. Likewise, I attempt to do the same experiment instead of using cookie I
use candy because teenager loves candy, therefore it will be difficult for them to refuse candy.
So, I did experiment on students who are in regular classes and they are in different grades. Based
on the results, I realize that only freshman and sophomore find it difficult to candy but seniors are
also found difficult to resist the candy. This interacts with Walter ideology because I did
experiment students who are in regular class and Walton states that kids who resist eating candy
straightway will do better in the school. Therefore, the students find difficult to resist the candy so
they are in regular class instead of honors class. My textbook says about the delaying gratificationis
the children who had more self control in preschool were more successful in high school, they will
less likely to take drugs or alcohol when they grow up and they also had more stable marriages.
On the contrary, children who had poor self control in preschool were not as successful in high
school, and they will have academic and behavioral problems. My note says about the delaying
gratification is the kids who are able to wait to receive reward shows they have a lot of patience
and they will be very successful in future. According to the article The Power of Delaying
Gratification, it says in contrast, the children who had the most trouble delaying gratification had
higher rates of incarceration as adults and were more likely to struggle with drug and alcohol
addiction . The author

The Impact Of Underdevelopment On The Economy
Every day countries around the world are faced with conflicts and problems due to undeveloped
areas not having any companies to bring economic opportunities to the country. Having no
economic or job openings can cause poverty. The Census Bureau reports poverty rates by work
experience for people ages 18 to 64. In 2014, the overall povertyrate for people ages 18 to 64 was
14%. The poverty rates by work experience for that age group ranged from 3% to 34%. The
development of countries relies heavily on whether or not business owners will bring their product
to their state. When entrepreneurs do not start their company in an area with little economic or
educational development, many people suffer health, educational and economic issues.
Companies and citizens need to help the poor countries and the poor areas in the Untied States
get what they deserve. Businesses and entrepreneurs need to start their companies in low income
areas in order to increase opportunities for residents. The solution for the issue of
underdevelopment can be solved by the help of others and that is what will solve this problem.
Business owners want their product to sell as fast and as much as possible so they will build their
companies in higher income areas. This causes the low income and underdeveloped areas to keep
losing profit and benefits they would get if they had more markets, building, and homes. A study
shows that the organization of entrepreneurship effects the area greatly Entrepreneurial

Harrison Bergeron, by Kurt Vonnegut Essay
Harrison Bergeron is a story written by Kurt Vonnegut. Vonnegut s story is a warning to the world
about the quest of equality, which is spreading all round in many nations with America on the lead.
The story shows the reader how the equality issue can have negative impacts on people s
individuality, and the society. The story revolves around the protagonist, Harrison Bergeronwho is
an archetypical symbol that represents defiance, and individuality. He is used to represent the
people who will stand up, and protest against cruel laws imposed by the state on equality, and
encourage others to protest with him. Through the characterization of Harrison, George and Hazel,
Vonnegut shows how the equality idea can go to the extreme. The... Show more content on

Conversely, Hazel s husband is handicapped with forty seven pounds of birdshot strapped to his

easily a government can control its citizens, by assaulting their senses and individuality. Harrison
Bergeron is a valuable story that has underlying themes, which are very relevant in our current
society. The theme of equality can be seen throughout the book, and it is the principle that is
enshrined in America s constitution now, whereby they claim that all men are equal. Kurt Vonnegut
demonstrates the issue of equality in a Utopian society. Vonnegut in his story, cautions Americans
on the dangers of creating a truly equalitarian society, whereby citizens go to an extent of
sacrificing their freedom, and individuality to the state, to create a place where all people are
equal. Vonnegut creates a society whereby, all people are made equal. The beautiful are forced to

by eight years. They live all alone because their parents were taken from them in a horrendous
accident. One day, Lilly became very ill. Jackson got the village doctor, who was very
experienced in the medical field. He said that Lilly had caught something he hasn t ever seen
before, however he knew that within a month Lilly would die. Jackson was distort; he already lost
his parents, and he didn t want to lose his sister too. He also always told her he would always
protect her.
Jackson asked the doctor, What can I do to make my sister better? The doctor told him, There are
two goblets that are hidden deep within a cave about a week s journey from the village. One of
the goblets is for healing and the other one is for death. The two are identical, however that is just
one of the problems. In the cave, lays different chambers, which has trials. If you wish to reach
these goblets you may need a team to aid you in your journey. Before he left, the doctor said that
the team was a team of explorers, he have heard of that were like no other.

Individuality In Otzi The Iceman s Windguard Way
Individuality
Individuality is unique, characteristics that distinguish one person from another. Walt Disney is a
modern day entrepreneur who distributes individuality through his animations and determination.
He is one of the biggest entertainment moguls of all time, with an unrelenting spirit and
commitment to his vision; Disney is undoubtedly an entrepreneurial all star (http://www.inc.com

Preschooler Children Observation
Introduction: The purpose of this paper is to examine preschooler children in three areas:
cognitive development, play section, and motor skills. I conducted this observation in a classroom
in the Dillon Center during play time. The children s age ranges from 3 to 4 years old. In addition,
I hope that with this observation I get a clear understanding of the three areas I m examining in
preschool ages.
Cognitive Development: The purpose of this section of the paper is to describe the cognitive
development skills presented or not by the preschoolers. In the classroom, all children were during
play time. The classroom has different play areas, such as building, painting, car races, puzzles,
reading and others. That means that all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Berk Meyer (2016) make believe play is an example of the development of
representation in early childhood (p.312). Play detaches from the real life conditions associated
with it: During this observation, when the children were playing in the building area, they knew
that the blocks were an object but that it could represent something else, such as they were
building castles and towers. According to Berk Meyer (2016) by age 3, children can understand
that an object may take on one fictional identity in one pretend game and another fictional
identity in a different pretend game (p.312). Another group of children was playing in the toy
cars area, they were pretending that they were the ones driving the car in a race. This is an
example of sociodramatic play. According to Berk Meyer (2016), a sociodramatic play is the
make believe play with others that is under way by the end of the second year and that increases
rapidly in complexity during early childhood (p.312). Yet, I noticed that during this play time
some children struggle more than others, it was hard for some children to have an understanding
of roles in the game due to the fact that they couldn t follow the plot or where impatient to wait for
their turn. This is a skill that children master at the end of preschool years. Interestingly, despite
that many children were playing in groups, there was this one child, a boy with dark hair

Enron Oxley Act ( Sox )
Executive Summary
Over the last two decades the consulting practices within the Big Four accounting firms saw a
variety of changes take place. This began when the accounting world was faced with multiple
scandals around the turn of the century, which prompted the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). SOX
mandated that public accounting firms could no longer provide both audit and consulting services
to the same client. This forced the firms to brainstorm new ways to comply with the laws and
standards, and overtime they created innovative ways to adhere to regulations. We examine the
issues leading up to the new regulations, the Big Four firms reactions to the new regulations, and
how consulting rebounded after SOX. We also analyzed what the consulting line of service at the
Big Four will look like in the future and discuss why the Big Four firms want to preserve a
presence in the consulting business. Overall, our research suggests that the consulting sector is
lucrative, and the firms need revenues from non audit clients in order to continue to grow their
business.
Management Consulting s Fall to SOX
The management consulting industry first gained popularity in the 1930s with the demand for
advice on finance, strategy, and organizational design because of various government interventions.
After World War 2, the development of globalization contributed to the boom in consulting
industry.(O Mahoney, 2010) Also, the increasing demand for strategy and information technology

Key Sources Of Dietary Phenolic Compounds
Red beets are one of the pivotal sources of dietary phenolic compounds, including phenolic acids
and flavonoids (). These compounds are secondary metabolites which are essential for the plant
growth and development, provides protection against pathogens and predators and are contributors
of antioxidant, anti microbial, anti inflammatory, anti allergenic, anti thrombotic, anti atherogenic,
cardioprotective and, vasodilatory properties (Balasundram et al., 2006). The total phenolic (TPC)

red beet juice cv. Mona Lisa, Moronia, Redval, Agyptische Plattrunde, Forono, and Bolivar have
been reported to be in the range of 0.85 1.10 g/l (Wruss et al. 2015). Other juices Oksuz et al.
(2015) studied the effect of jam processing on red beet and reported a significant loss of about
49.9% in total phenolics (Oksuz et al., 2015). In a similar manner, TPC values of red beet jam
were found to be 86% lower than fresh sample on dry weight basis, pickled red beet have 25%
less TPC than fresh sample on wet basis and boiled red beet did not have significant effect on fresh
sample (Guldiken et al., 2016). The major drawback of Folin Ciocalteu (FC) method is the ability to
react with the reducing compounds in red beets such as ascorbic acid and nitrogenous substances
especially Dopa (3,4 dihydroxyphenylalanine), thus providing higher values of phenolic compounds
in the extract. Moreover, the main component betanin of red beet is structurally similar to Dopa(3,4
dihydroxyphenylalanine) which may contribute to the higher values using FC spectrometric
estimation (Kugler et al., 2012).

Ozymandias Figurative Language Essay
Poetry of any era furthers our understanding of the current world. This is because many of the
issues we once faced, we still face today. In this short essay I will compare and contrast figurative
language in two poems. The first of which will be Ozymandias by Percy Shelley written in 1818;
and the second of which, will be Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats written a year later in 1819.
Ode to a Nightingale explores the themes of mortality and impermanence. In Shelley s work,
Ozymandias examines the themes of power and mortality. The first thing I have noticed is that both
have a strong focus ancient civilizations and a distinct focal point on the ancient Greeks and
Romans.
In Greek myth, a young woman named Philomela, whose tongue was cut out by her rapist to
prevent her from telling anyone about her molestation; was turned into a ... Show more content on

He alludes to the Lethe, the Greek underworld river of immortality in his first stanza. I believe
the speaker says this because he believes the wine speaks about has mystical powers that will
allow him to live forever. He does not mean this literally of course, but instead it will bring him
into the care free state of the nightingale. Through its imagery, the speakers want (need?) is
conveyed for a drug/drink induced state. It seems as though the speaker wants this so that he can
feel some sort of connection with the Nightingale and nature. The speaker s mood changes and in
the fourth stanza he does not want to turn back to drinking and instead wants to fly on the, wings of
poesy (33). Meaning that he has found his salvation in poetry rather than drink. The speaker s
awareness of the real world pulls him back from his fantasy world of drink joy. He understands that
he cannot become the nightingale as the human world is not withdrawable and mortality is
inescapable. At the same time the poem Ozymandias also uses imagery to convey its

Security Of Database Systems Has Become Very Important Now...
DATABASE SECURITY
Abstract:
Security of database systems has become very important Now a days. As many of the operations
now a days depend on the database systems, security became a problem because of increase in the
number of web applications. If the data is affected in an application, it not only affects that single
application but it affects the entire applications present in that system. Data may be damaged not
only from the outside damages but may be also from inside damages. Hence, we are using some of
the data security techniques like encryption of the data and decryption of the data for keeping the
data safe.
Introduction for security of DB:

So, information control is required for the correct flow of data. For the encryption of the data, we
use the cryptographic control.
There are different types of components which provide the data protection in the DBMS. Some
such components are access control and semantic correctness. Secrecy of data is maintained by the
access control. If a person wants to make changes to the data, then it checks for whether the person
trying to change the data is the appropriate user or not by using some of the security points. By
these security points we can say that whether the person can use the data or not.
Secrecy of data can also be maintained by the use of some techniques like encryption which is
applied to the data when transmitted or when stored. Now the problem is how to change or
access the encrypted data. There is a technique called semantic correctness which verifies the
semantics of data. If the semantics are correct data can be accessed. The data is stored in the form
of symbols. At the end we can recover the data and can make sure whether the data is correct and
it is available by using of the recovery system and concurrency control.
Now the research areas are also included in the database security. There are some special
techniques involved in the research part which are order preserving and privacy preserving. The
applications mainly based on the privacy and the correctness of order.

Voter Registration And Voter Id Laws
Recently state and federal legislators have been discussing voter identification laws, also known
as voter ID laws. This issue is controversial because it can lead states to deny voters a vote without
an approved ID. On one hand, some supporters of ID laws argue that these laws are preventing
criminals from committing fraud. From this perspective, the laws are protecting the value of a vote
and what it means to actually participate in an election vote. On the other hand, however, people
argue that by placing the restriction on votingit is impeding the people constitutional rights much
like a poll tax. Opponents also claim that by enforcing an ID law it is creating a poll tax similar to
the ones created to prevent the African American people from voting. A poll tax is a specific
amount a person is charged before being able to place a vote; the comparison between a poll tax
and a driver s license fee is like comparing apples and oranges, when getting a driver s license a
person is using their license as their main form of ID. Poll taxes were outlaw in the 1960s by the
24th amendment.
In the words of Cathy Cohen, one of the main opponents of voter ID, Voter turnoutamong young
people may be significantly reduced because of these laws (Frisby). According the view of Cohen,
she does not account for the young people who do not intend to vote, not because of the laws but
because of laziness, lack of interest, and outright apathy. The late United States president John F.

Business Research Ethics
Unethical business research happens more often than we think. At times the evidence is clearly
there or on the fence. Researchers conclude studies for companies, to find results or outcomes, and
report the results to management for a sound decision. However, the problem is some studies or
researchers may be basis, but mainly ethics is the issue. My paper is about Bayer the maker of
Yasmin and Yaz birth control pills. With all pharmaceutical products, there are side effects.
Normally when medicine is purchased in the store, side effects are usually printed on the packaging
and bottle for consumers to read and make sound decision about taking the medication. What if the

Unethical behavior affects everyone around, the company, patients, and society.
How could the unethical behavior be avoided or resolved? Unethical behavior could have been
avoided by the researchers of Bayer s company. The researchers should have done further studies to
insure no person could die from their products. Also to insure healthy women would not become ill
from use of their products. Also, when patients started become ill and dying due to Yasmin and Yaz,
they should have pulled their product off the shelves. And left the birth control of the shelves till
critical research was done to prove Yasmin and Yaz was safe. Patients put their lives, health and
trust into doctors and pharmaceutical products thinking medicine is safe and helpful, not poison.
Ethics in business research is very crucial to a company. When businesses run without proper
business ethics, it could very detrimental to the company, individuals, and the society. The case
with Bayer and their pharmaceutical products Yasmin and Yaz many individuals were affected.
The most severe case was Michelle Pfleger death, which her family blames on the birth control
Yasmin. The company reputation was blemished, and a negative impact on their sales. The society
was affected by the scare of the patients that were also taking Yasmin or Yaz as a way of birth
control. Many of the patients may have changed their birth control, not knowing if it would save
their lives. Unethical business research

There are no social injustices that go without affecting the public, and Executive Order 13769 has

around the world. The victims of this social injustice are primarily those from the seven countries,
especially Muslims, but anyone who has put their faith in American idealism will experience the
fallout from this destruction of our constitutional values. When it comes to accepting refugees
now, the White House is essentially prioritizing Christians over Muslims from the Middle East. In

Essay on The Theme of Knowledge in Gilgamesh and Genesis
Ancient world literature and early civilization stories are mostly centered on human s relationship

In the Book of Genesis, the idea of knowledge emerges throughout punishment. This theme is most
apparent when Adam and Eve deceive God by eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and
Evil. When they do this, they are immediately given the ability to discern between right and

The Colonial Education System
When a person thinks of an education system, they most likely think of the education system that
was in place when they went to school. That system however had many different influences to
become what it was. Some of those influences came from the different regions in the American
colonial time. In American colonial time, the Europeans who were settling along the coast all
shared a general culture and heritage. They however had differences when it came to their
economic, political and religious beliefs. Those main factors, as well as others, such as language
and geography, motivated them to split into different colonies. Those colonies can be grouped into
three regions which are the New England, the southern and the Middle Atlantic colonies. Since each
region had their differences, with the main difference being the type of religionpracticed, each
region had a different style for education. The New England colonies included Massachusetts,
Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. They followed the views of the Puritanism and
Calvinism. The Puritan belief system did not have a lot of patience with children, and they
expected them to act as if they were young adults. One view on children was that They were small
savages who needed constant upbraiding and discipline to curb their evil inclinations and desires

The Issue Of Animal Rights Essay
Animals have the right to equal consideration in regards to their being used for human needs as
most people use animals for their own needs on a daily basis even if only indirectly whether to
entertain us, or to attain the product we are using, or on our dinner plate. The controversy of the
treatment of animals range from some activists and philosophers that are outspoken against
animals being used by humans in any way for our own personal needs, while others are candid in
their belief that animals are here solely for meeting our needs and have no rights at all. Although
everyone is able to tailor their actions to fit their moral, ethical and individual beliefs, and many
different categories of unique diets have come about from the freedom of defining personal
standards it is a controversial topic. With vegetarian and vegan diets , becoming more and more
common deciding what is morally justifiable in respects to the treatment of animals is an essential
issue for everyone. The dispute of animal rightsis essentially focused on what rights animals
deserve to have and how they should be treated in regards to being experimented on, for humans

this crime was too traumatizing for Eileen and resulted in repressing this particular memory.
But how could she completely block this memory for 20 years? Franklin Lipsker testified that
she repressed the memory for 20 years because her dad threatened to kill her too
(ChicagoTribune,1990). Ultimately, George Franklin was convicted to life in prison. But this case
took a turn when 6 years after his imprisonment, he was a free man. Due to DNA evidence,
George Franklin s name was cleared, and he walked out of prison.

Design Oriented And Patterns Oriented Perspective On An...
Introduction
Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a coherent set of descriptions, covering a regulations oriented,
design oriented and patterns oriented perspective on an enterprise, which provides indicators and
controls that enable the informed governance of the enterprise s evolution and succesd1. In simple
terms, an EA is a conceptual blueprint that defines the structure of an organization in terms of its
operation and interaction among various units within it.
As organizations become larger, operations management become bigger and more cumbersome,
hence the need for an enterprise architecture framework that can describe the underlying
infrastructure, providing the groundwork for the hardware, software, networks and people to work2.
There are a number of enterprise architecture framework in use today with many of them having
similar views and approaches in an attempt to address various needs and concerns of an
organization. Zachman framework for enterprise architecture is one of the major EA framework in
use today and is considered to be one of the pioneers in the ES domain. Zachman EA framework
adopts principles of classical architecture that establish a common vocabulary and set of
perspectives for describing complex enterprise systems2. The Zachman Framework is made up of
six perspectives or views, which are Planner, Owner, Designer, Builder, Subcontractor, and User.

How Optical Antennas Are An Emerging Concept Within...
1. Introduction
Optical antennas are an emerging concept in physical optics. Similar to radio wave and microwave
antennas, their purpose is to convert the energy of free propagating radiation to localized energy,
and vice versa. Optical antennas exploit the unique properties of metal nanostructures, which
behave as strongly coupled plasmas at optical frequencies.
Electromagnetic (EM) waves from low radiofrequencies (RF) to high optical frequencies pervade
our environment. They interact with matter by coupling directly to the motion of charge carriers.
This carrier motion can be associated with characteristic spectral resonances resulting from
absorption and emission of EM energy.
According to the IEEE Standard Definitions of Terms for Antennas, an antenna is defined as the
part of a transmitting or receiving system that is designed to radiate or to receive electromagnetic
waves [1]. Depending on the resonance properties, environment, and use, an antenna can be
designed in all sizes and shapes including linear dipoles, horns, dishes, apertures, and patches.
Despite the different form factors, all antennas operate under the same principle. They mediate the
transformation between propagating EM energy and localized or confined energy delivered to a
load or emitted from a source via coupling of the EM energy to electron motion. Although originally
conceived for radio waves, the antenna definition above notably does not constrain the frequency
range of operation. The same

Holocaust And The Moving Image
Holocaust and the Moving Image: representations in film and television since 1933, is a collection
of essays that grew out of the 2001, Holocaust, Genocide, and the Moving Image: Film and
Television Representations Since 1933 symposium held at the Imperial War Museum in London.
The conference, was designed to address the historic, social, educational, and psychological
relationships bound to the experiences of the Holocaust and film, while reaching forward to
actualize the knowledge and expertise that could and should be shared by an international
community of Holocaust film scholars. Realizing that film ... has helped create a wider awareness

the reasons for the compilation of essays that go to make up Holocaust and the Moving Image.
Understanding that as generations passed, many of the vital lessons of the Holocaust would be lost

Fallacious Argument About Juror 12
Name: Dharmendra Kumar
Roll No. 13110033
Words 1014 FALLACIOUS ARGUMENT OF 12 ANGRY MEN
The arguments without logical reasoning or invalid reasoning are called fallacious argument. In
this movie there are many situations where people have used fallacious argument, which is listed
below.
#Juror 8.He is nineteen years old.
Initially EIGHT argue that kid is only 19 years old, how could he kill his father. But this age is
enough for thinking what to do or not. We have not any reasonable logicbehind that kid can t
murder.
#Juror 8.There were eleven votes for guilty.

#Juror 7.The boy looks not guilty.
This is situation when after a long discussion people do not get clear result. SEVEN wants to go
his home and without having a valid reason decide that boy is not guilty. Here is the issue of a
life. Concluding for personal work is very shameful.
#Juror 8.You do not believe the boy s story, how can you believe the woman s.
I think it is not necessary that if one story seems wrong then another will also be. If someone don t
believe on one story then it is not necessary for them to not believe on another. We can t force
another to view everything in similar way.
#Juror 3.Nobody proved otherwise
If someone blame on me that i have killed someone and i have no evidence, it means not i really
killed someone. During initial inspection of the case there was no evidence in favor of kid. Due to
that we should not assume that kid had killed his father. There may be also possibility that all the
evidences are false.

The Theory Of Frederick Winslow Taylor s Principle Of...
It is important to understand the manager s role today along with the workforce diversity as it
became a current main issue relating to management. Therefore, Taylor s and Contingency theories
are being critically analysed in this regard.
First theory is Frederick Winslow Taylor s Principle of Scientific Managementthat was published
in 1911. It was part of the Classical Approach which refers to the first studies of management that
occurred in the early 20 century that emphasised predominantly on rationality and efficiency. It
was believed that effectiveness and efficiency are essential to maintain a competitive edge. Taylor
s theory is accepted and have been applied worldwide, as a result, he became known as the father

Likewise, McDonalds has also adopted Taylor s theory to their workforce by identifying the one
best way of completing the required tasks in each food station, detailed instruction for each carried
out tasks and meticulously select and training of the suitable staff with incentives. Since
McDonald is a big global franchising business with more than 34,000 stores in 118 countries that
sells hamburgers on every continent, well apart from Antarctica, its focus are mostly on efficiency
and nothing is left to chance. For example, the hamburger patties are prepacked and pre measured
and delivered to the store in a frozen form that will then need to cook for a certain amount of time
and ready for constructing a burger. Considering amount of millions hamburgers they sells
everyday, this approach of management have save McDonalds tons of time.
Equivalently, Henry Ford was also inspired by Taylor s idea of scientific management and
ultimately, applied Taylor s theory to his manufacturing procedures of the Model T automobile.
Correspondingly, all three examples have some sort of a standardised production process to
achieve greatest consistency. It can be depicted as the theory that performs best with specific basic
work tasks.
Although Taylor s scientific management seems like an easy, simple perfect approach, it does come
with several limitations. These includes, from a worker s viewpoint, they might feel that the
employment opportunities are

Dbq Indian Removal Act
The most destructive law to the American Indians which barely passed May 28, 1830 was known
as the Indian Removal Act, and later was known as the Trail of Tears. In 1803 President Thomas
Jefferson brought up to Congress that all American Indians be encouraged to move voluntarily
from their lands east of the Mississippi River. For some time, many American Indians began their
new venture and voluntarily started to move. President James Monroe also agreed with Thomas
Jeffersons ideas and convinced Congress to move on with the process. Thomas Jefferson and
President James Monroe both believed that the Indians could survive only if removed to the east,
where they could have time to be civilized. Thomas Jefferson himself defended the... Show more

between 1855 until 1858. Seminoles were a confederacy of multiple clans which consisted
tribes of Lower Creek, Oconee, Yuchi, Alabama, Choctaw, and Shawnee who lived in southern
Georgia and northern Florida. After the First Seminole War the Georgia Florida frontier was not
peaceful. Seminole men and women were attempted to be relocated but were resistant. In
December of 1835 Maroons and Seminoles started an attack in North Central Florida against
United State troops which ended up killing more than 100 of their soldiers. Moving back and
forth between Florida and Southern Georgia the Seminoles were able to confuse their enemies.
Along the way they were able to set up refuge in the Okefenokee Swamp. In August of 1836
Ware County militia Commander Thomas Hilliard said to his superiors the Seminoles go
concealed as much as possible, and are committing depredations continually, robbing our corn
fields and killing our stock. November of 1838 Georgia Governor George R. Gilmer had said
that General Charles Rinaldo Floyd would destroy or drive from the state the savage enemy. In
November of 1838 Floyd and 300 officers and privates waited at the southeastern edge of the

Personal Narrative-Every Mammal Has Hair
Every mammal has hair. There is no mammal that doesn t have some amount of hair, even hairless
animals are deceptively named because they all have hair, it s just much shorter and finer.
When you work at a vet clinic hair becomes an ever present part of your life. There s really
nothing you can do about it other than relentlessly sweeping and wiping things down, but even that
doesn t get rid of the hair. No matter what, the hair will be flying.
Owners do not help this situation at all. I am not joking, in this sense, I wish owners would just
drop off their pets things would be so much cleaner. Whenever an animal comes in and its mildly
shedding, or worse completely blowing it s coat, instead of just leaving it well alone, and letting
us breathe in peace, the owner profusely apologises and proceeds to pet/stroke/brush/ripped all of
the hair off the animal and fling it about the room. What you should be apologizing for is now
coating the whole room with your animal s fur, not the natural, seasonal condition of your animal s
coat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well for one, the hair is now everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Previously it would have just
been on the pet, a little on us, and the exam table, but now it s floating in the air creating small
hair tornados, coating the floor in a slippery layer, and covering every possible instrument that
was previously relatively sterile. I don t like having to clean the scale for the cats/small animals,
let alone the ENTIRE ROOM when only a dog came in.
Once a woman came in, took our flea brush after I was done using it to check for fleas, and
proceeded to brush her entire dog. For one that s not what a flea brush is for, it s not very
comfortable for that type of brushing, and two she then took the hair she collected and flung it in
the air as if that was a better place for it than on the table where I could have easily wiped it up. To
be fair this woman was a bit off, but

Abstract This analysis will cover the middle scene in the Mad Men opening title sequence. This
will be addressing the principles and elements of design and their impact on the viewing
experience of this segment of title sequence. This scene is an illustration of a man free falling from
a skyscraper, down the side of a building. Further detail will be addressed later. Three elements of
design will be discussed: line, color, and shape. All are designed to show continuity and free flowing

Red is a color that evokes emotion and draws the eye, so in its sporadic occurrences, one s eyes
are drawn to the text in the ad and more importantly to the name of the guest star. The second
design element is line. Line is used in this scene to break apart the buildings and windows
within, and really focus the geometric shapes. Although the lines are soft and light in weight,
aside from the outer most lines of the buildings, which are hard but still thin, they are uniform in
their clear representation of the shape of the buildings and the windows. These lines depict a
vertical and horizontal relationship from the dimensions of the building and windows. From the
angle of the scene in discussion, the horizontal lines appear diagonal converging on each other at
the corners of the buildings and windows. These converging lines at the top of the buildings
demonstrate a focal point brought upon by the location of emphasis (Hemmis 2013). The lines of
the building are enclosed to the achromatic background to separate them from the background and
divide the pictorial space. The only lines that are curved in this scene appear in the ads and the
form of the free falling man. The final element is shape. The shapes in this scene are primarily
geometric. The windows and the buildings are created by the soft yet defined lines seen throughout
the scene. Linear shapes are made by the convergence

Middle Childhood and Adolescence Development
Middle childhood development primarily entails growth previous to puberty during early school
years; yet in contrast, adolescence signifies puberty as an inevitable biological change during that
period. These stages of development refine the gradual transformation of psychological, physical,
and social ways that enlighten any life span. This essay thoroughly will examine adolescent
development and include positive and negative consequences of preliminary actions surrounding
this time. An annotation will provide an extensive description of changes during middle childhood

Group formations or cliques normally form during middle and high school years. These individual
s biases are normally superficial concerns that divide adolescents into groups of similar qualities
such as intelligence and athletic ability. School systems help in the division of peer groups with
school sponsored clubs but adolescents facilitate the attitude of how the group thinks and behave.

Adolescent Egocentrism
Adolescent egocentrism refers to a mental development limited in adolescents by others.
Adolescents are able or are capable to feel when others paying attention to their appearance and
behavior. For example, adolescents spend a significant time making them to look good in front of
everybody; adolescents are too worried about their appearance and behavior. This type of
egocentrism is known in teens between the ages of 11 or 12 years to 16 year old. Adolescents
usually create an imaginary audience in their own self consciousness (Berger, 2008). In many cases,
this phase passes overtime, but understanding, and patience is required throughout this phase.
According to Berger (2008), people focus their eyes on this type of adolescent and the way how
they (adolescents) think. That is, egocentric adolescents have

Stonehenge Remains One of Our Greatest Mysteries Essay
Stonehenge, a prehistoric stone circle, remains one of the world s utmost mysterious and archaic
structures. Built over 4,000 years ago in Salisbury Plain, scientists and theorists alike are still in
the dark as to why Stonehenge was built. Popular belief is that it was used for religious purposes
and that it was constructed by the Druids or even the Romans, but the theory was disproved when it
was confirmed that the beginning of Stonehengeconstruction started at least 2000 years before the
Celts came. I, on the other hand, believe that Stonehenge operated for scientific or astronomical
reasons such as being used as an astronomical calendar and two centuries after being built it was
utilized for its healing abilities. Over the course... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the monument at first was used for astrological reasons, but after two centuries the arrival of
some special rocks formed the monument into the unique and unusual structure we see today.
Timothy Darvill and Geoffrey Wainwright were the leading pair in an excavation of the inner
circle of the Stonehenge, and what they discovered in 2006 shed some new light as to what
Stonehenge was used for after the construction of the inner circle. Bluestones, the rocks that make
up the inner circle, were the special rocks they found, and they came from a site called Carn Menyn
in mountainous southwest Wales which is almost 140 miles away from Salisbury Plain. Many
scientists still wonder how the ancient people transported the rocks to their cuurent location, but
the fact they moved it so far means that it was for an important reason. The site Carn Menyn had
altered springheads adorned with prehistoric art and Darvill and Wainwright said, You get springs
that have funny things done to them in the Roman and Iron Age periods, but to see it done in the
prehistoric period is rare, so we knew we were on to something, (Jones, New Light on Stonehenge
). They could tell that since there was prehistoric art surrounding this site, it had to mean something
special to the people that used it. The ancients believed that the bluestones at Carn Menyn had
special powers so it made sense for them to make

Biography Of Irving Penn And Diane Arbus
Before photography was considered a medium of personal art, it was used for the sole purpose
of portraiture. Carte de visites, daguerreotypes, and even tintypes were all used as a way to
convey a person s physical appearance into a print. As camera technology evolved, so to did the
way photographers take portraits. It skipped from a stale faced man behind a backdrop to
colorful and interesting photographs taken of people from all walks of life. Three of the
innovators of modern portraiture are Robert Mapplethorpe, Irving Penn and Diane Arbus. These
photographers changed the public appearance or ordinary people and celebities while integrating
their own original ideas. Irving Penn was born in New Jersey in 1917, he went to school to... Show

The style of his portraits adds to and even sometimes surpasses the fashion shown. While Penn
shot for vogue, he also strayed away from fashion some of the time to focus on influential figures
with the same style of the fashion portraits he took in the past. A series of his that is very
influential is his corner portraits from the late 1940s, where he took portraits of different
individuals all standing in a very claustrophobic corner, almost making them seem less important
than their influence states. Some examples of this include portraits of Marchel Duchamp and
Georgie O Keeffe: Two very prominent painters are photographed cut off from the work of art,
seemingly stuck in a gray walled room with no artistic fervor anywhere to be seen. The
photographs are bleak, but offer a sense of distance from the audience, enough to show these
famous individuals as humans. Penn creates beauty through humanity, with or without the help of
fashion his portraits convey truly an unhinged reality of fashion and art, unseen by the general
public. Robert Mapplethorpe s portraits are probably the most dissimilar from Irving Penn s in
terms of style and subject, but his photographs use the same ideas of beauty. Mapplethorpe was
born in Queens, NY in 1946, and studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn before dropping out to

Creation Theology Paper
Creation happened at the beginning of time. In cultures all around the world, there can be found
explanations of how people came to be and how the world they live in was formed. Creation
theology is a bit different. It explains how Christians believe the God of the Bible formed the
world and how that impacts them today. A belief that most Christians hold that can be traced back
to the Apostle s Creed is that Godthe Father is maker of heaven and earth . This can be translated
in different ways however, and this paper will try and explain some of the different ways that the
Biblical account of Creation can be understood. Creation can also be linked to other beliefs of
the church, especially to Christ himself. The Biblical Creation of the world will be recognized in
this paper by being capitalized, creation will reference the beginning of the world and nature will
be used to describe what has been created like the plants, animals, and humans. In this paper, I will
explain the different parts of Creation theologyand connect Creation to other parts of Christology.
Creation Theology The story of how the world was created has been told in different ways since
the beginning of time. Nature clearly points out to humans that there is a God (Williams, 2007).
This can be called natural theology which uses nature to prove that there is a God (McGrath,
2008). The world is very complex with many different parts of it interwoven and dependent on each
other. It is very difficult to

  • 2. The Terrible Old Man Essay The Terrible Old Man The Terrible Old Man is a short story written in 1920 by H.P. Lovecraft, who was a famous author of sciene fiction, fantasy and last but not least horrer. I will, by analysing the characters, the setting and the ending, try to interpret and find the main theme of this story. People often judge each other by the way that they dress, by the work they have or by their amount of money. Sometimes that judgement is fair but at other times it is most definitely not. The short story The Terrible Old Man is one of those other times. The main character in his story is the Terrible Old Man. He is a very mysterious man. He is quite old and is believed to have been a captain of east india clipper ships. He leads a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was by nature reserved, and when one is aged and feeble, one s reserve is doubly strong. Besides, so ancient a sea captain must have witnessed scores of things much more stirring in the far off days of his unremembered youth. (section 7, l. 4).The text somehow changes from being objective to being subjectively written from the view of the citizens of Kingsport. The ending is written like there is no way that the Terrible Old Man could be the killer, because he is old, weak and all alone. That is the image of how people are seing the old man. They are not even giving it a second thought that he is not shocked by the story. They are judging him by his cover . The main theme in this story is the old saying: You can t judge a book by its cover . Through the whole story people are judging the Terrible Old Man by his cover. They are seeing an old, weak, poor man who is unable to do anyone any harm, or even to defend himself. And the truth is that he is quite dangerous and most certainly able to do others harm. In the end it is the mistake that the robbers make by judging the Terrible Old Man on his covers that leads to their deaths. And it is the mistake that the citizens make by judging him by his cover that leads to him getting away with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Statement On Life s Hustle And Bustle In life s hustle and bustle sometimes it s easy to get lost in the whole process leaving you wondering is your life leading you instead of you leading it. I needed to find some personal fulfillment in my life. So I had to do a self check to discover what my true purpose was in this life. How impactful was I in changing the world. I was completely satisfied raising my son and being engaged in everything he was involved in. However, the closer it came for him to graduate from high school the more I began to think about what my new life would be like. I had to deal with the persisting question of what did I want to do with the rest of my life. Overall, I felt like I was a pretty decent mother, an awesome friend, a loving sister and I have a faith based foundation. Even with all those great attributes I still didn t know what my true purpose was here on earth. When I think of the questions easily, the first thing I thought of was philanthropy. Living a healthy lifestyle would be next. I m very excited about getting the chance to expound on my future in leadership and mentoring rolls. Next, I want to explore what full potential and purpose is and how can I be a positive impact on the world. At this stage of my life I feel that it says Yes to: being a philanthropist, having a health and wellness for my body and soul as well as being involved in leadership and mentoring. Philanthropy was an easy choice for me because it s something that I ve been doing for quite some time. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Balloon Mortgage loan is a short term loan that contains some risk for the borrower. Balloon mortgages can help you get into a mortgage loan, but again should be financed into a more reliable or stable payment product as soon as financially feasible. The Balloon Mortgage should be well thought out with a plan in place when getting this product. For example, you may plan on being in the home for only three years. When this mass extinction occurs, the Earth will lose a massive amount of its biodiversity. Biodiversity is the variety of all lifeforms on the planet. And the biggest victims of this loss of biodiversity would be the coral reefs, the most biodiverse ecosystem on the planet. The ocean serves as a Carbon Sink , absorbing a large amount of Carbon but when the ocean absorbs too much Carbon dioxide, it warms and a process known as ocean acidification occurs. The Carbon dioxide mixes with the water and carbonate in the ocean creating bicarbonate ions (Talk), and when the ocean gets too acidic, the corals die off, giving off a bleached look thus rending the ecosystem uninhabitable. Hence the term Coral bleaching, this is huge because coral reefs contain about 25% of the world s marine biodiversity. From a human perspective, the biodiversity loss risk human security. Well, here I am going to describe my experience and observation of attending a funeral of my friend s aunt. I saw the obituaries in the newspaper. In addition, I heard about the deathfrom another friend that is the mutual friend of me and my friend whose aunt had died. I really wanted to console my friend and let her know that she was not alone in this critical time. Contextual inquiry is a qualitative study from various field such as psychology, anthropology and sociology (Ghasemifard, Shamsi, Kenari, Ahmadi, 2015). Therefore contextual inquiry method is carried out to assist the cognitive performance among users. The first step taken is to observe users based on the usability testing methods in their cognitive performance while using the app. Then questions are asked based on the existing problem discovered and the process taken by users in completing their task through the app. There are four evaluators that participated in this study to observe the usability of the application created and at the same time to jot down different performances that may occur simultaneously in terms of their cognitive actions. According to the International Organisation for Standardization (1998), the usability testing mode is used to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, responses (Bastien, 2010) and satisfaction among the users. • 11. Organisational Structure And Organizational Structure Essay PARDEEP SINGHND15345UNIT 9735 1.2 At least two different Organisational structures are identified, described, and compared in terms of their design principles. Answer: 1.Organisational structure is a system used to define a hierarchy within an Organisation. It identifies each job and its function and where it reports to within the Organisation. This structure is developed to establish how an Organisation operates and assists an Organisation in obtaining its goals to allow for future growth. Organisational structure is particularly important for decision making. It is also important that responsibilities are clearly defined. Each person has a job description that outlines duties, and each job occupies its own position on the company Organisation chart. 2. There are two different types of Organisational structure: Centralization and Decentralization structures Centralization: Centralized Organisational structures rely on one individual to make decisions and provide direction for the company. Small Businesses often use this structure since the owner is responsible for the company s business operations. Decentralization: Decentralized Organisational structures often have several individuals responsible for making business decisions and running the business. • 13. An Interpretation of Kant’s Metaphysical Deduction of the... In what appears to be an important section of the Critique of Pure Reason, when Kant attempts to show the natural connection between the table of judgment and the table of categories, there is a cryptic little paragraph: The same function that gives unity to the different representations in a judgment also gives unity to the mere synthesis of different representations in an intuition, which, expressed generally, is called the pure concept of understanding. The same understanding, therefore, and indeed by means of the very same actions through which it brings the logical form of a judgment into concepts by means of the analytical unity, also brings a transcendental content into its representations by means of the synthetic unity of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will provisionally think of it as referring to the faculty of understanding and not solely one or more of the pure concepts of the understanding.11 The main interpretive dilemma of this passage revolves around the term transcendental content. It may be the case that Kant wants to contrast the Transcendental Logic s possession of objective content with general logic s lack of content. However the term could also refer to the fact that the understanding has a transcendental function, and could be indicating the transcendental nature of the categories. Each of these interpretations will be evaluated in turn. The Argument At its most basic, with all the explanatory clauses stripped away the argument appears thus:22 P1 The Understanding gives unity to different representations in a judgment P2 The Understanding gives unity to the synthesis of representations in an intuition. C The Understanding Brings Transcendental Content to its representations. Need anymore be said?33 The argument is easier to follow, though by no means clear, if we take into account a missing or explanatory premise: PE The very actions that brings the logical form of a judgment to concepts also brings a transcendental content into the understanding s representations. The most important element of the argument is the fact that it is the very same actions which allow logical forms to be used in contentful judgments that necessitate the transcendental role of the ... The market environment at the time of the case was extremely difficult with the rising costs of fuel, increasing security requirements after 9/11 and customers expectations of lower fares. It has forced many big players in the airline industry into bankruptcy. • 17. The Power Of Delaying Gratification Summary lex Lickerman, author of the article The Power of Delaying Gratification , discuss the experiment psychologist Walter Mischel did on the kids to understand their self control. Basically, he gives a group of children a cookie and gives them to option either they could eat the cookie immediately or they can wait until he comes back, however, if they wait for him to back they will receive another cookie. Based on his experiment he concludes that the kid who resist to eat a cookie and wait for him to gain another cookie they will do better in the school than the kids who did not resist. For instances, they will get higher sat scores than who eat the cookie immediately. Likewise, I attempt to do the same experiment instead of using cookie I use candy because teenager loves candy, therefore it will be difficult for them to refuse candy. So, I did experiment on students who are in regular classes and they are in different grades. Based on the results, I realize that only freshman and sophomore find it difficult to candy but seniors are also found difficult to resist the candy. This interacts with Walter ideology because I did experiment students who are in regular class and Walton states that kids who resist eating candy straightway will do better in the school. Therefore, the students find difficult to resist the candy so they are in regular class instead of honors class. My textbook says about the delaying gratificationis the children who had more self control in preschool were more successful in high school, they will less likely to take drugs or alcohol when they grow up and they also had more stable marriages. On the contrary, children who had poor self control in preschool were not as successful in high school, and they will have academic and behavioral problems. My note says about the delaying gratification is the kids who are able to wait to receive reward shows they have a lot of patience and they will be very successful in future. According to the article The Power of Delaying Gratification, it says in contrast, the children who had the most trouble delaying gratification had higher rates of incarceration as adults and were more likely to struggle with drug and alcohol addiction . • 18. The Impact Of Underdevelopment On The Economy Every day countries around the world are faced with conflicts and problems due to undeveloped areas not having any companies to bring economic opportunities to the country. Having no economic or job openings can cause poverty. The Census Bureau reports poverty rates by work experience for people ages 18 to 64. In 2014, the overall povertyrate for people ages 18 to 64 was 14%. The poverty rates by work experience for that age group ranged from 3% to 34%. The development of countries relies heavily on whether or not business owners will bring their product to their state. When entrepreneurs do not start their company in an area with little economic or educational development, many people suffer health, educational and economic issues. Companies and citizens need to help the poor countries and the poor areas in the Untied States get what they deserve. Businesses and entrepreneurs need to start their companies in low income areas in order to increase opportunities for residents. The solution for the issue of underdevelopment can be solved by the help of others and that is what will solve this problem. Business owners want their product to sell as fast and as much as possible so they will build their companies in higher income areas. This causes the low income and underdeveloped areas to keep losing profit and benefits they would get if they had more markets, building, and homes. • 25. Enron Oxley Act ( Sox ) Executive Summary Over the last two decades the consulting practices within the Big Four accounting firms saw a variety of changes take place. This began when the accounting world was faced with multiple scandals around the turn of the century, which prompted the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). SOX mandated that public accounting firms could no longer provide both audit and consulting services to the same client. This forced the firms to brainstorm new ways to comply with the laws and standards, and overtime they created innovative ways to adhere to regulations. We examine the issues leading up to the new regulations, the Big Four firms reactions to the new regulations, and how consulting rebounded after SOX. We also analyzed what the consulting line of service at the Big Four will look like in the future and discuss why the Big Four firms want to preserve a presence in the consulting business. Overall, our research suggests that the consulting sector is lucrative, and the firms need revenues from non audit clients in order to continue to grow their business. Management Consulting s Fall to SOX The management consulting industry first gained popularity in the 1930s with the demand for advice on finance, strategy, and organizational design because of various government interventions. Ode to a Nightingale explores the themes of mortality and impermanence. In Shelley s work, Ozymandias examines the themes of power and mortality. The first thing I have noticed is that both have a strong focus ancient civilizations and a distinct focal point on the ancient Greeks and Romans. So, information control is required for the correct flow of data. For the encryption of the data, we use the cryptographic control. There are different types of components which provide the data protection in the DBMS. Some such components are access control and semantic correctness. Secrecy of data is maintained by the access control. If a person wants to make changes to the data, then it checks for whether the person trying to change the data is the appropriate user or not by using some of the security points. By these security points we can say that whether the person can use the data or not. Secrecy of data can also be maintained by the use of some techniques like encryption which is applied to the data when transmitted or when stored. Now the problem is how to change or access the encrypted data. There is a technique called semantic correctness which verifies the semantics of data. If the semantics are correct data can be accessed. The data is stored in the form of symbols. At the end we can recover the data and can make sure whether the data is correct and it is available by using of the recovery system and concurrency control. • 29. Voter Registration And Voter Id Laws Recently state and federal legislators have been discussing voter identification laws, also known as voter ID laws. This issue is controversial because it can lead states to deny voters a vote without an approved ID. On one hand, some supporters of ID laws argue that these laws are preventing criminals from committing fraud. From this perspective, the laws are protecting the value of a vote and what it means to actually participate in an election vote. On the other hand, however, people argue that by placing the restriction on votingit is impeding the people constitutional rights much like a poll tax. Opponents also claim that by enforcing an ID law it is creating a poll tax similar to the ones created to prevent the African American people from voting. A poll tax is a specific amount a person is charged before being able to place a vote; the comparison between a poll tax and a driver s license fee is like comparing apples and oranges, when getting a driver s license a person is using their license as their main form of ID. Poll taxes were outlaw in the 1960s by the 24th amendment. The controversy of the treatment of animals range from some activists and philosophers that are outspoken against animals being used by humans in any way for our own personal needs, while others are candid in their belief that animals are here solely for meeting our needs and have no rights at all. Although everyone is able to tailor their actions to fit their moral, ethical and individual beliefs, and many different categories of unique diets have come about from the freedom of defining personal standards it is a controversial topic. With vegetarian and vegan diets , becoming more and more common deciding what is morally justifiable in respects to the treatment of animals is an essential issue for everyone. The dispute of animal rightsis essentially focused on what rights animals deserve to have and how they should be treated in regards to being experimented on, for humans entertainment, and their being used as livestock. The victim, 8 year old Susan Nason, was raped and murdered by George Franklin in 1969. But it wasn t until 20 years after this horrendous crime that George Franklin was found guilty. He was guilty of first degree murder. This case gained attention because it was the first case ever to determine a man s fate based off of the resurfacing of repressed memory. Eileen Franklin, George Franklin s daughter, recalled having a flashback of her best friend, Susan s murder. It was the look in her daughter s eyes that triggered this memory. Franklin Lipsker testified that she repressed the memory for 20 years because her dad threatened to kill her too (ChicagoTribune,1990). Ultimately, George Franklin was convicted to life in prison. But this case took a turn when 6 years after his imprisonment, he was a free man. Due to DNA evidence, George Franklin s name was cleared, and he walked out of prison. Introduction Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a coherent set of descriptions, covering a regulations oriented, design oriented and patterns oriented perspective on an enterprise, which provides indicators and controls that enable the informed governance of the enterprise s evolution and succesd1. In simple terms, an EA is a conceptual blueprint that defines the structure of an organization in terms of its operation and interaction among various units within it. As organizations become larger, operations management become bigger and more cumbersome, hence the need for an enterprise architecture framework that can describe the underlying infrastructure, providing the groundwork for the hardware, software, networks and people to work2. There are a number of enterprise architecture framework in use today with many of them having similar views and approaches in an attempt to address various needs and concerns of an organization. Zachman framework for enterprise architecture is one of the major EA framework in use today and is considered to be one of the pioneers in the ES domain. • 40. How Optical Antennas Are An Emerging Concept Within... 1. Introduction Optical antennas are an emerging concept in physical optics. Similar to radio wave and microwave antennas, their purpose is to convert the energy of free propagating radiation to localized energy, and vice versa. Optical antennas exploit the unique properties of metal nanostructures, which behave as strongly coupled plasmas at optical frequencies. Electromagnetic (EM) waves from low radiofrequencies (RF) to high optical frequencies pervade our environment. They interact with matter by coupling directly to the motion of charge carriers. This carrier motion can be associated with characteristic spectral resonances resulting from absorption and emission of EM energy. According to the IEEE Standard Definitions of Terms for Antennas, an antenna is defined as the part of a transmitting or receiving system that is designed to radiate or to receive electromagnetic waves [1]. Depending on the resonance properties, environment, and use, an antenna can be designed in all sizes and shapes including linear dipoles, horns, dishes, apertures, and patches. Despite the different form factors, all antennas operate under the same principle. They mediate the transformation between propagating EM energy and localized or confined energy delivered to a load or emitted from a source via coupling of the EM energy to electron motion. Although originally conceived for radio waves, the antenna definition above notably does not constrain the frequency range of operation. The same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
