Natural Gas, Pollution, and Our Environment
Natural Gas, Pollution, and Our Environment
In today s society there is a great need for environmental protection. Things that happened during
our parents and grandparents age have caused a great concern for our ozone, our air, and our
environment. You constantly hear about the many sources of pollution, but we hardly ever hear
about the solutions. In this paper I will present one possible solution to the air pollution problem
that has been caused by too many automobile emissions being released into the air. This possible
solution deals with switching from diesel gas, to fuel trucks and bus fleets, to natural gas. I will
discuss how this switch would assist in the reduction of air pollution and in this way help the
environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Safe Transportation Fuel:
В· One reason it is safer to transport is that natural gas will not spill to the ground and create pools
of explosive gasoline. Natural gas will flow into the air and disappear into the atmosphere.
В· Another safer transportation factor would have to be that natural gas will not burn at
temperatures less than 1,200 degrees. Gasoline on the other hand will ignite at a mere 600 degrees.
According to a survey conducted by the American Gas Association, this will help in reducing deaths
caused by automobiles catching on fire during an auto accident.
3. Safety Advantages:
В· Natural gas is not toxic and cannot be ingested.
В· Natural gas is not a carcinogenic substance.
В· Natural gas is not corrosive.
All of the above mentioned factors make it seem apparent that natural gas is the best option at
this point in time. But are there any known disadvantages of natural gas? The only disadvantage
that I was able to locate would be the start up costs. It will be much more expensive in the
beginning to use natural gas. The cost is not because the gas is more expensive, it is because there
will have to be modifications made to gas stations, bus depot fueling stations, and of course,
modifications to our automobiles. A typical natural gas bus would cost between $30,000 and
$50,000 more than a diesel fueled bus. This means that instead of spending approximately $270,000

The Artist, Hans Rudi Giger and The Birth Machine
HR GIGER
The Swiss surrealist, Hans Rudi Giger is one of the few artists worldwide who does not and doesn t
to sign his works of art. He is considered the modern day master of the macabre and his works are
recognisable at first glance.
The motifs of birth, death and sex are the predominant subjects of Giger s art. From the beginning
of his career, powerful elements, seemingly inspired by repressed memories of a traumatic birth,
appeared from his talented hand. He willingly acknowledges that themes of birth trauma appear in
his works.
By 1966 he had begun producing a series of shaft pictures which had their primary origins in
dreams. Bottomless shafts, undoubtedly representative of the birth canal, surrounded by a series of
steep banister less stairways the embodying fear and danger predominated these pictures. Other
works produced at that time had birth allusions, and included underground cities as well as buried
bio mechanoids. These humanoid beings combined features of humans with mechanical equipment.
Continuing the birth trauma passage theme in his art, Giger later became engrossed with
passages. These pictures were the result of a series of dreams. He writes, in these I usually found
myself in a large white room without doors or windows, the only exit a

The Issue Of Privacy Laws
Privacy laws are fairly new to humanity. We can take a look at the animal world, of which humans
are biologically still classified in the same taxonomy family as apes. (Groves, 2005).
Wild animals have no concept of privacy and humans in the beginning didn t either. Early humans
lived in tribes and shared belongings, otherwise they wouldn t survive. The concept of what is
considered private or not, has developed as human intellect has grown.
As human intellect has increased, so has advancements in technology and the need for privacy to be
addressed within legal context. With the advances in technology, certain events that were once
considered private, certainly are not anymore. We can use the example of social media, and how
some people will post pictures of their children, while still within the hospital room. This
typically private moment in a family s life, in today s time is something for the world to see. Of
course, the person who posted this on social media didn t want this event to be private, but what
about social media users who only send these pictures to a select few friends? How will their
privacy be protected, using an unprotected source such as the internet?
Privacy laws concerning personal data have come into formation recently, but laws concerning
general privacy rights have been native to the United States. Laws such as the First, Fourth, and
Fourteenth Amendment have all been established to protect citizens right to privacy. These
Amendments include

Neutrality In Othellos
The results of the rebellion of Melos is tragic, but it was unavoidable. The killing of any man and
the enslavement of any person is a tragedy, but a policy was put in place for a reason. A policy is
defined as being a definite course of action adopted for the sake of expediency, facility, etc.
Though the policy is flawed an brought about death it also was set in place by the governing
people before them. There was no avoiding something that was created for the eternal well being of
the Athenian empire. To maintain the justice of the empire the governing officials had no other
choice but to commit a horrific event they would have never done otherwise if their hand had not

Essay on Stefan Sagmeister, an Influential Designer
Libby Castellani Holly Vaughn GRA 1109C 17 October 2012 Stefan Sagmeister: An Influential
Designer In today s art world there seems to be a large gap that separates fine art from
commercial art. Often there is a disconnected coldness associated with those who work in
communications art and produce art for clients. As if all emotion and feeling is stripped from
commercial artwork merely because it was created with the intention of pleasing a client. Stefan
Sagmeister bridges the gap in the art industry by redefining commercial design as a personal,
emotional, and deep art. While Sagmeister s work encompasses a vast spectrum of mediums such
as, album covers, logos, installations, and posters it is his philosophy on design that... Show more

The poster displays the midsection of Sagmeister s nude body, stretching from the top of his lip
all the way down to where his pubic hair begins. The audacity of his brazen body is accompanied
by harsh lettering that has literally been carved into his skin by his intern with a razorblade
(Heller amp; Vienne, 10). While the broad reception to this poster can be attributed to its shock
value, Sagmeister s self mutilation was a commentary on the absurdity of inking the body with
tattoos (Heller amp; Vienne, 10). The scratches in his body display the details of the lecture as
well as Sagmeister s words pertaining to his philosophy on design, Style=Fart. This philosophy,
which he has now put to rest, translates as his conscious effort to not get wrapped up in fashion
statements or trends; design that is defined by a temporary style is meaningless (Designboom).
Sagmeister explains why he relinquished the philosophy in an interview with Designboom: I
discovered that this is simply not true.
Through experience I found that if you have content that
is
worthwhile the proper expression of that content, in terms of
 form and style is actually
very important. It can be a very
useful tool to communicate that content (Designboom). Stefan

When she enters the castle she neither sees nor hears anyone so she decides to sneakily make
her way up the jeweled staircase. She reaches the hallway at the top of the stairs and instantly
hears a familiar voice singing in one of the rooms. She runs towards it, her heart beating as fast as
it can from joy. She opens the door to the room and gasp as she sees her Proserpina sitting in the
window. Proserpina stops singing and turns to see her mother; her heart instantly filling with
happiness. She runs towards her and hugs her while saying, Oh mother, I m so sorry I should have
listened to you!
I am just so glad I found you, I don t know what I would ve done if I couldn t find you, Ceres
chokes out through her sobbing.

A decision was eventually made and the Venetian Republic decided to allow them to remain and
ordered the segregation of the Jews of the city in a special quarter, formerly known as Ghetto Nuova,
a small, dirty island which became the world s first ghetto. A little later, the Ghetto Vecchio, was
added to the district. Hence the term Ghetto spread throughout Italy, where the Jewish quarters,
compulsorily established in subsequent years, became known officially by this name, (Roth. 273.)
Jews of Italian and German origin both moved into this ghetto. The Germans came to Venice to
seek refuge from of persecution in their former communities, while the Italians came from Rome
and from the South, where they faced anti Semitism.
Jews from the Levant, who practiced Sephardic traditions, moved into Ghetto Vecchio in 1541. The
Spanish and Portuguese Jews also came to Venice in the late 16th century and were the strongest
and wealthiest community in the ghetto. Many of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews were Marranos
and became Jewish again once moving to Venice. The Spanish/Portuguese and Levantines lived in

The German, Italian and Levantine communities were independent, yet lived side by side to one

Bearing Arms at Nineteen Years Old Essay

Bill of Rights. The amendment states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of
a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed (Bill of Rights).
Currently these laws should be extended to nineteen year olds because they are considered legal
adults and citizens. Although the United States no longer has local militias, the idea of keeping a
secure state still stands today. Since 1960, the general trend for crimein the United States is at a

That being said, this increased exposure to society leads to more exposure to threat. In 2009,
David Ward, president of the American Council on Education, stated perfectly The events of
September 11, 2001, certainly changed the way campuses, as well as the rest of the country, view
the issue of security. He goes on, the tragedy at Virginia Tech has put these issues at the forefront
of our Nation s consciousness (United States). Many other events that have happened in American
society raise awareness and concern towards societal terrorization also. In addition, in 2010, an
estimated 1,246,248 violent crimes occurred nationwide and thirty eight and a half percent of
these crimes were robbery, forced rape, and homicide (U.S. Department of Justice). Because
nineteen year olds are more exposed to danger in society, nineteen year olds should have a legal
right to conceal a handgun for protection of the individual carrier and the public as a whole. In
addition, giving a nineteen year old the ability to use handguns for recreational purposes enables
them to use what they learn, through the required courses they take, in a way that is not harmful to
the public. In fact, many universities have gun clubs that participate in competitions for college
students, many of whom are not twenty one. The participation of clubs allows for social
acceptance and better self esteem for gun owners, lessening the likelihood of ill use of handguns by
owners.

Film Noir Film Analysis
Film Noir is a style that first originated during the early 1940s, influenced by the tumultuous social
and political environment of World War II. These style of films was a subversion from the
conventional gangster films of the 1920s and 1930s. The resurgence of Noir style films in the
1970s retained the themes of crime, vice and moral ambiguity, but updated the content due to the
relaxation of the Production Code. In this dissertation, the origins of film noirand its techniques will
be examined, with the films The Third Man (Carol Reed, 1949), and L.A Confidential (Curtis
Hanson, 1997) contrasted to highlight the impact of the Production Code. According to Paul
Schrader s Notes on Film Noir (1972), there are four catalysts that spawned the film noir style:
Post war disillusionment, a desire for realism, Germanic influences and the hardboiled tradition1.
During World War II, the prominence of dark, brooding Film Noir was overpowered by the
American propaganda produced, but changed after the tragedy of World War II, as American
audiences accepted a less optimistic view of society. This desire for realism is highlighted by the
artificial optimism of previous films pre World War II. Furthermore, The hardboiled narratives of
the 1930s influenced Film Noir through their tough , defeatist attitude of characters who reside in a
cynical atmosphere. In terms of cinema, Film Noir borrows cinematic techniques and style from
German Expressionism, which refers to a film

Toms Shoes Business Model That Can Realize Both Commercial...
Abstract
In 2006, American entrepreneur Blake Mycoskie took his vacation in Argentina, and he liked the

Acid And Non-Buffer Experiment
In this experiment, we set out to determine the effect the addition an acid and a base would have
on the pH of a buffer and a non buffer. We utilized phosphate, a buffer, and sodium chloride, a
non buffer, as our base solutions and added hydrogen chloride, an acid, and sodium hydroxide, a
base, to each solution separately. First, we took a base pH reading of 40mL of phosphate with a pH
meter, then added 1 mL of our acid, HCl, at a time, recording the pH after each drop was added. As
depicted in Figure 1 and 3, the pH gradually dropped after each mL of acid was added to the
phosphate solution. Similarly, we added 1 mL of acid at a time to our sodium chloride solution,
after a base pH reading, until our pH reached 2. The pH of the sodium chloride dropped more
rapidly than the pH of phosphate, depicted in Figure 1 and 4. After the addition of the acid was
complete, we measured out new 40 mL solutions of phosphate and sodium chloride to test with our
base, sodium hydroxide. As done with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We predicted that the buffer s pH would change less rapidly than the pH of the non buffer. Thus,
we hypothesized that if mL s of an acid or a base was added to a buffer, then the pH of the
solution would drop or rise, dependent on whether the acid or the base was added, more
gradually then the pH of the non buffer. Throughout our experiment, we recorded that the non
buffer only required 5 mL of acid to reach our goal pH, while the buffer required well over 10 mL
to reach the goal pH. Similarly, the non buffer only required 2 mL of base to be added in order
to reach our goal pH, while the buffer, once again, required well over 10 mL. Furthermore, this
discovery confirmed our prediction that the buffer s pH rose/dropped less rapidly. Our hypothesis
was also supported because the pH of the buffer did rise/drop more gradually than the pH of the

King Leopold II and the Congo Free State
King Leopold II of Belgium (1835 1909) was the reigning king of Belgium from 1865 until his
death in 1909. He managed the throne after the death of his father, Leopold I. He was born
under the original name of Louis Philippe Marie Victor in Brussels. He joined the Belgium
armed forces at a relatively early age and, in 1853, he took as his wife the Archduke of Austria s
daughter, Maria Henrietta. He became widely noted as a philanthropist, his work earning him

He had his own piece of that magnificent African cake. The newly named Congo Free State was
handed over to Leopold essentially as his personal country. With such authority, he easily exploited
the natives and their abundance of natural resources.
The presence of ivory, rubber, copper, and diamonds in the Congo only whetted Leopold s appetite
for wealth. He sent Sir Stanley deeper and deeper into the unexplored jungles in search of
profitable resources. However, his treatment of the native population was not quite in line with his
philanthropic reputation. He extorted the indigenous peoples with often called barbaric methods.
Leopold strove to further develop the Congo nation by establishing an exportation network which
included the building of river ports and roads into the interior of the nation. The expeditions proved
to be quite successful for the Belgian king. Some figures report an income of approximately
#8356;30,000 per year earned through his ventures in the Congo.
However, the rest of Europe began to take notice of the inhumane methods utilized by Leopold
after his African state grew larger. In addition, the financial returns started to wane after the initial
stages of colonization. By 1908, the Congo project had overstretched its financial resources and
Leopold was not able to manage it independently. He began to sell parts of the state like stock in a

The Relationship Between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth Essay
The Relationship Between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth face an extraordinary situation involving a strong supernatural theme
and murder and treason of the highest kind. However Shakespeare still cleverly manages to make
Lady Macbeth and Macbeth relate to audiences of all eras and to convey a strong moral message
within his play.
The relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is fascinating to study. Shakespeare
constantly changes their attitude to each other throughout the play, making it hard to form a clear

By letting his wife announce that they must kill Duncan, Macbeth is able to offload some of the
guilt of the deed onto her he uses Lady Macbeth as a scapegoat for his already guilty conscience.
Upon sending the letter Macbeth immediately goes to see his wife. In my opinion he does this
so that Lady Macbeth is ready to begin to override Macbeth s good characteristics immediately.
When Macbeth loses Lady Macbeth s support later on in the play he is forced to act
independently of her, and so loses the ability to murder. I feel that his actions throughout the play
are an indication of Macbeth s dependency on his wife, as well as his misuse of their love in order
to claim the title of King. He refers to Lady Macbeth as: [his] dearest partner of greatness showing
that Macbeth envisages them sharing the power of the throne.
In his soliloquy Macbeth admits that he has no spur To prick the sides of [his] intent which
indicates that Macbeth knows that he will require Lady Macbeth to be his spur , and coax him
into murdering Duncan. He also knows that by allowing Lady Macbeth to take up such a
domineering role she will take the murder out of his hands, thus freeing him from a great deal of
guilt.
Upon receiving the letter, Lady Macbeth immediately responds to Macbeth s wishes, realising that

Analysis Of Mutability By Percy Bysshe Shelley Essay
Portfolio Part B Mutability (Greenblatt 752 753) is a poem written by the Romantic poet Percy
Bysshe Shelley in 1816. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word Mutability as: Liability
or tendency to change. (OED Online) Mutability was most probably written in order to portray
Shelley s own views that humans do not have control over changes which occur in their own
lives. However, it asserts Shelley s belief that, Nought may endure but Mutability. Shelley
demonstrates this idea by using various literary devices, diction, and a sombre tone which is
reflected through his choice of writing in the lyric form. Mutability was written at a time when
Shelley experienced significant life changing events; January 1816 saw the birth of his first
child to Mary Shelley, in the same year Shelley experienced financial struggles, and the suicide
of his first wife Harriet in December 1816. (O Neill, M.) In addition to the changes he endured in
his personal life, Shelley was very much aware of the changes happening during 1816 which was
named, The year without a summer due to extreme changes in weather. During his trip to
Switzerland, Shelley and a group of other Romantic poets began to create works to reflect this time
of great change. (Gardiner, Lisa) This is significant as being exposed to so much change during
1816 more than likely inspired Shelley to write Mutability to demonstrate the human ability to
accept and embrace change, as it cannot be prevented.

History Of The Electoral College
What is the Electoral College? The Electoral College is consisted of educated people who become
electors. They come together from each state every four years to vote for the upcoming president
and vice president. The Founding Fathers of the Constitution thought that the public intelligence of
choosing a president wasn t as efficient as the Electoral Collegeintended. In 1803, the Constitution
Framers created a legislative branch, so that the president and vice president are qualified for the
occupation, this is decided by the Electoral College. In addition, The Electoral College was
created to check on the power of the president. (Brigid Callahan Harrison, Jean Wahl Harris, and

Importance And Importance Of Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurship refers to the act of investing in productive capital and assuming risk for
productive ventures. An entrepreneur is an individual who purchases factors of production and
combines them to produce consumable output. Entrepreneurs are distinguished from capitalists
who rent out capital to entrepreneurs and workers, who sell their labor to entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs are indispensable to the functioning of any economy. Entrepreneurs grow economies
by creating new output, increase efficiency in economies, allocate society s resources efficiently,
and serve consumers and job seekers. The foremost importance of the entrepreneur to the economy
is the creation of new output. At any given point in a society, production is stagnant.... Show more

Entrepreneurs are continuously looking for ways to generate profits. An incidental consequence of
this permanent quest for profits is the fact that economies gradually become efficient as
entrepreneurs discover more efficient ways to turn out goods and services. In any industry,
entrepreneurs will adopt the best production methods available to stay competitive and therefore
profitable. However, the competitive pressures of the market push entrepreneurs toward innovation.
Innovation involves a broad gamut of actions. Most notably, entrepreneurs will strive to improve
existing technology, to make their production endeavors less costly. Improving on existing
technology enables an entrepreneur to generate greater profits by cutting his production costs, and
therefore undercutting his competitions (Sowell, 2001; Mankiw, 2014). Soon enough, however, his
competitors also adopt his new production methods depriving him of the advantage he initially had.
As a result, the entrepreneur must constantly be looking for methods to do things more efficiently
than his competition. Improvements in technology and production methods benefit the whole of
society. Foremost, improved efficiency reduces the marginal costs of production, resulting in lower
prices for consumers. Consumers are therefore able to purchase greater volumes of goods and
services for the same amount of

Disadvantages Of Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) refers to a client centred counselling approach, which is directed to
enhance motivation in an individual for behaviour change Miller Rollnick (as cited in Christopher
Dougher, 2009). MI as a method understands and accepts that the clients are at different levels of
readiness to change their behavior. It consistently focuses on goals to prepare the client for
transformation by providing motivationfor commitment to change (Bricker Tollison, 2011) in the
domains of substance abuse, addiction and risky health problems. It proceeds to make the client
aware of the causes, consequences and risks that could be a result of the behavior. Through this, the
client foresees the possibilities of enhancement and becomes motivated to achieve it (Jenson,

Executive Summary
The focus of this research paper is to demonstrate the need for project management, identify the
current and future trends within project management around the world, and discuss the effects of
cultural differences on project management. Project management was first used in civil engineering
and architecture projects but it soon spread to other industries such as the automobile and

There are also several people that joined the privateer movement that were younger and wouldn t

crew on the privateering ship the Royal Lewis when he was fourteen as a powder boy.5 He was
given this opportunity because the privateers did not have as many restrictions on clientele as
the Navy did; it is highly probable that James Forten would not have been able to join the
Continental Navy because of his age and his race. Forten invented a new type of sail that was
better for maneuvering and for maintaining higher speeds for a longer stretch of time. Even
though he did not patent his product, it became the most widely used and prosperous sail in
Philadelphia. James Forten s innovations involving sails have influenced sailing technologies
even to this day. The fortune he made by doing this was substantial for any man, black or white.
After his privateering days, he devoted more than half of his fortune to abolitionist causes. He

Character Analysis in Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller
Perhaps it is due to the abandonment by his father that Willy Loman experienced at a very young
age, or the subsequent abandonment, a few years later of his older brother Ben, that underlies the
reason Willy so desperately seeks to be loved and accepted. He continually makes reference to
being well liked as being of the utmost importance. Physical appearance, worldly admiration, and
the opinion of others are more important to Willy than the relationship he has with his own family.
These and several other references throughout Death of a Salesmanportray the troubled relationship
between Willy and his two sons, Biff and Happy.

Biff continues to lament how he wandered around the West for awhile and Happy is dishonest

brothers cannot find peace in the reality of their lives and they never quite feel good enough to
simply be who they are so they continue the course of deception in their relationship. If the boys
were honest with one another they might discover that the lives they are living will never fulfill
them. Instead, the boys develop the Loman Brothers plan (1239). Throughout the story, Biff
struggles with the actuality of himself and tries on several occasions to implore Happy to
understand that the life Willy created is artificial. Nonetheless, Happy cannot bring himself to
face it and instead tells Biff that the Florida idea would somehow restore Biff to his former glory
There d be the old honor, and comradeship (1240) Biff acquiesces and makes the decision to ask

Similarities Between Mill And Nietzsche
Introduction
In today s paper, I will be discussing Mill and Nietzsche. These two have differing opinions on
what the biggest threat to society are: Mill argues that Freedom of Speech is essential to finding
the truth (Mill, 2006, p. P12) so even controversial opinions should be listened to. He fears that the
tyranny of the majority could mean the Truth could be lost because alternative opinions are not
listened to. The other threat to society to Mill is that women have fewer rights then men such as
voting he believes women should be allowed to have the same opportunities (John Stuart Mill; Alan
Ryan, 2006). In contrast, Nietzsche believes the biggest threat to society is the assumption that
morality is natural. Morality is dangerous because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche s argument about morality is, largely, about rejecting Christianity (Frederick Nietzsche;
Douglas Smith, 2008, p. P203). His statements about morality can be argued is a tool to critique
organised religion in general. In contrast, Mill s goal is to make society stronger through learning
the Truth (Mill, 2006, p. P12) and allowing equality (John Stuart Mill; Alan Ryan, 2006). The two s
goals are different hence their conclusions are quite different.
Mill s opinion on biggest threat to society
Firstly, like I stated in the introduction, Mill believes that the biggest threat to society is that
Freedom of Speech being stifled and women not having the same rights and opportunities as men.
This is a threat to society for several reasons. Mill pointed out that the opinion which it is
attempted to suppress by authority may possibly be true (Frederick Nietzsche; Douglas Smith,
2008, p. P386) which indicates that an unpopular opinion could be true ignoring this opinion would
mean the public would be pursuing something which is incorrect this would clearly damage
society. Mill also stated that though the silenced opinion be an error, it may, and very commonly
does, contain a portion of truth; and since the general or prevailing opinion on any subject is rarely
or never the whole truth, it is

Inequalities in Australian Schooling Essay
Inequalities in Australian Schooling: Sociocultural Factors in terms of Cultural Capital, Habitus
and Social Reproduction
There is a common, underlying perception that students from particular cultural and linguistic
backgrounds what is generally referred to as ethnicity have a predisposition towards educational
success in Australian schools (Watkins, 2013). Students from Anglo backgrounds, for example, are
often seen as having a cultural advantage whilst others, such as Middle Eastern students, are
perceived as culturally prone to underachievement. These claims confine ethnicity to fixed and
bound stereotypes, and see educational achievement as a result of the inherent qualities of these
groups (Watkins, 2013). However, ethnicity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, studies indicated that Indigenous Australians are significantly behind non indigenous
Australians in academic achievement (Bradley, Draca, Green Leeves, 2006). Geographical
remoteness, socioeconomic status and indigenous ethnicity and culture have a major influence on
educational success for Indigenous students. An example of this can be seen in rural indigenous
communities where indigenous economic systems are still used, forcing a gap in terms of both
geographical location and socioeconomic status (Altman, 2008). As a result of this gap, Indigenous
students from these areas are not able to obtain the same level of education as students living in
urban settings where colonial economic systems are recognised (Altman, 2008). These socio
cultural factors construct a specific cultural capital for indigenous students that is not widely
recognised in Australian schools as it is not the dominant capital presented in Western education
environments. Ultimately, this leaves indigenous students, specifically those in geographically
remote locations or of a socioeconomic status that doesn t allow a broader range of options, at an
educational disadvantage. Ethnicity, geographical location and socioeconomic status play an
important role in the construction of one s cultural capital and, as a consequence, one s ability to
obtain educational success in Australian schools.

Andy Warhol s Influence on the Art World Essay
When you go to an art show do you understand the symbolic interpretation of the pieces? Don t feel
bad, most people don t. What s so upsetting about that is that you really miss out on the experience.
When I think about interpretation of art I think of Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol s use of iconography
changed not only the art world but the people who came into contact with his art. Once you
understand his life and art, you will understand his art as a symbolic representation. Andy Warhol
(Andrew Warhola) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1928. His parents were Julia
and Ondrej Warhola and was the youngest of three boys. Warhol became ill with St. Vitus disease
when he was younger, which is a complication of scarlet fever.... Show more content on

His early paintings had an unconventional, unique, and unfinished look about them. The images
were known to everyone in everyday life. I was looking at a bunch of Warhol s paintings and I
was confused. I was just staring at them and I m thinking why don t you look like a Warhol?
Then I realize that these paintings are from when he was younger. This was before he defined
his aesthetic. I believe this was his discovering phase then he goes into his silk screening phase.
Andy Warhol used current icons from the world for his work. One of the famous icons was the
Campbell s soup can. In 1962 Warhol displayed his Campbell s soup piece, one canvas for each
32 types of Campbell s soup. In 1960, Warhol began producing his first canvases, which he based
on comic strip subjects. In 1961, he started using the method of silk screening. Silk screening
starts with a stencil drawing then transferred with glue onto silk. Warhol s first silkscreen was
Campbell s Soup cans. Campbell s Soup was an icon in the 1960s that gave you a sense of
comfort. In spite of that, Warhol s Soup Can paintings were to provoke concern about value. At
first glance it may seem like a joke but it s actually a sophisticated and thought provoking artistic
statement. In the 1960s Andy Warhol made a sculpture that was extension of what Warhol had
done with the Campbell s Soup Cans, Brillo Boxes. The Brillo Boxes were made out of wood but

China, a continent with around 1.4 billion people have other countries looking because of their
economy. Currently, China s economy is known to be one of the largest manufacturers,

success happened through gradual economic reforms, opening up new businesses, continuously
improving their economic structures, but also being able to invest in a lot of corporate companies

economy was solely based on cheap labor, agriculture, but also rural industries (CIA,2016). This
market strategy allowed China s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to raise in double figures, and due
to the rise in GDP figures the national poverty rate decreased by 679 million people (Yang,2016).
Rural industries have been the main contributor to the advancement of the Chinese economy which

The Chesapeake region was made up of the Virginia and Maryland colonies. The first english

first New England colony to be settled was the MassachusettsBay, or Plymouth colony in 1620. By

war, into battle. Ares was known as Mars to the Romains. It is possible that Mars may have moons

Market Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Emerging Market
An emerging market is a country that goes through a process of rapid growth when it comes to
industry and economy, nevertheless, it does not meet certain qualities to be considered a fully
developed market. As any other financial activity, investing in emerging markets has its advantages
and disadvantages. According to Investopedia. (2016) , Emerging markets are sought by investors
for the prospect of high returns, as they often experience faster economic growth as measured by
GDP . A considerable option is the secondary emerging market Argentina, due to its rapid
development in manufacturing and more industries that are leading the economy in the country. In
the following report you will find useful information that needs to be taken into... Show more

These barriers can be either political, economical or even cultural. There are several barriers when it
comes to investing in Argentina, due to the fact that some sectors are restricted which causes
investors to seek for approval by the government in order to invest. References: Emerging Market

Analysis Of Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems
Diana Farinho ENG 385 5/8/2015 Love poems Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems,
mainly focus on lesbian lovers which is a different style of writing from typical love poetry that
is usually written by a man to a woman. The two poems that will be focused on are To His Coy
Mistress written by Andrew Marvell as well as There Is a Garden in Her Face by Thomas
Campion. Rich s love poems mainly focus on two women who work together against all odds
using the strength of their love. They also have a powerful love for one another which keeps
their relationship close and deep. In contrast, the poems that are written by the male poets seem
as though they speak of their lover as being a goddess or someone they worship rather than a
partner. The attraction that the men have in these poems for the women is mostly physical
attraction. They look at women as beautiful, innocent, and pure which is not realistically correct
in most cases. Specifically in Marvell and Campion s poems it seems like more of a fairy tale
rather than a real love story in which Rich describes in her poems. Another noticeable difference
among these writers is that Rich spoke mainly of women she is close to and had . Whereas
Marvell and Campion described the women as simply beautiful and enchanting. Equality is one of
the big difference between these three writers. Rich writes about her lover as her equal partner in
contrast to Marvell s and Campion s poems where the female is looked up

The Raft Of Flowers By Robert Frost
In his poem The Tuft of Flowers, Robert Frost tells the story of a lonely man who is turning
grass in a field after a mower has cut it down. Though the man at first believes he is completely
alone and that all other people are too, he later reevaluates that position, concluding the opposite
that connections exist between everyone and everything and that nobody is ever alone. Frost
argues that one is never truly alone as all people are connected to each other. Initially, the speaker
in the poem feels lonely and unconnected to the world around him, I must be, as he had been,
alone, (ln 8). Frost s use of punctuation is especially interesting in this phrase as he uses a comma
immediately before an em dash, enormously exaggerating the pause... Show more content on

Frost s use of personification in this line is overwhelming, calling attention to the speaker s
newly awakened sense of closeness with other people. The speaker, overjoyed to see the tuft of
flowers amidst the destruction of the rest of the field, realizes that the mower must have also
seen the beauty of the flowers, noting, The mower in the dew had loved them thus,/By leaving
them to flourish, not for us (ln 27 28). The speaker understands that the mower had left the
flowers for purely selfish reasons, but at the same time, he feels connected to the mower on the
basis that they had both recognized and admired the beauty of the flowers. This revelation leads
him to conclude that people are connected to each other in both obvious and subtle ways, calling
the mower a spirit kindred to my own (ln. 35). Interestingly, lines 9 and 10 are juxtaposed with
the last two lines of the poem: Men work together, I told him from the heart,/ Whether they work
together or apart (ln 41 42). Not only does the speaker contradict his earlier statement, but Frost
also mirrors the wording, the two sentences appearing nearly identical, in order to create a visual
representation of the meaning of his words: people are more alike than they are different and
therefore bonds exist between all people. Frost also structures the poem in such a way

Video Games Should Be Legal
Violent video games have been a source of controversy since 1976. Though there are many issues
surrounding these games, there is one that is quite fickle: whether or not the descriptions for
violent video games should be more thorough and if parents or adults should be able to purchase
violent video games for minors. There should be more descriptive ratings and adults should not be
allowed to buy video games for minors, because the ratings and descriptions now are not very
thorough, and minors can still get access even though regulations have been put in place.
Violence and other inappropriate material has been a pinnacle of popular video games over time.

One important instance in video game history was the formation of the ESRB. That is the
Entertainment Software Rating Board and they are responsible for giving video games ratings
based on what is in them. This was formed due to Congressional hearing in 1993 where the main
focus was two controversial video games. It was formed to deflect potential video game
regulation by the government as its own entity (NCAC). This allowed for the very controversial
game Mortal Kombat to stay in stores. This was a fighting game that was the first to feature real
lifelike violence. It not only featured blood and gore, but also more realistic looking characters.
The premise of the game was, the player would pick a character and fight other characters to the
death, whichever character won gained the ability to perform a finishing move that was very brutal
and involved some form of mutilation to the other character. This was the main aspect that had
people in uproar. Though due to the formation of the ESRB Mortal Kombat remained in stores.
After the formation of the ESRB, there were still instances of uproar over video game violence. In
1997 Jack Thompson files the first of many lawsuits that claims violent video games are responsible
for violence in teens (NCAC). This suit was brought about due to the shooting that happened at
Heath High School that year. Though the biggest action taken against

networks. Here the question arise that what is the smartphone? The smartphone is a cellular
phone that operates many of the roles of a computer, holding Internet access, a touchscreen
interface, and a various operating system that enables downloaded applications to run. In this
modern society, with smartphones, tablets and cloud computing, everything is moving around
quickly. The growing abilities of mobile phones are positioning them as the technology of
choice, replacing PCs, for many users. As such, the use of these devices must be considered as a
vital learning device available to higher education. According to Lacohee, Wakeford, Pearson,
2003, in the initial rise of mobile technology advancement, cell phones were exclusive devices
originally used by middle and upper class people. Smartphones has the facilities to transmit and
receive calls and create and accept text messages, as another digital portable gadgets like personal
digital assistants (PDAs), such as an event list, Bluetooth, music player, video games, GPS, digital
camera and video camera and can operate a variety of third party software elements known as apps

Security Of Database Systems Has Become Very Important Now...
DATABASE SECURITY
Abstract:
Security of database systems has become very important Now a days. As many of the operations
now a days depend on the database systems, security became a problem because of increase in the
number of web applications. If the data is affected in an application, it not only affects that single
application but it affects the entire applications present in that system. Data may be damaged not
only from the outside damages but may be also from inside damages. Hence, we are using some of
the data security techniques like encryption of the data and decryption of the data for keeping the
data safe.
Introduction for security of DB:
Security of data mainly concerned with the factors like observation of any of the ... Show more

So, information control is required for the correct flow of data. For the encryption of the data, we
use the cryptographic control.
There are different types of components which provide the data protection in the DBMS. Some
such components are access control and semantic correctness. Secrecy of data is maintained by the
access control. If a person wants to make changes to the data, then it checks for whether the person
trying to change the data is the appropriate user or not by using some of the security points. By
these security points we can say that whether the person can use the data or not.
Secrecy of data can also be maintained by the use of some techniques like encryption which is
applied to the data when transmitted or when stored. Now the problem is how to change or
access the encrypted data. There is a technique called semantic correctness which verifies the
semantics of data. If the semantics are correct data can be accessed. The data is stored in the form
of symbols. At the end we can recover the data and can make sure whether the data is correct and
it is available by using of the recovery system and concurrency control.
Now the research areas are also included in the database security. There are some special
techniques involved in the research part which are order preserving and privacy preserving. The
applications mainly based on the privacy and the correctness of order.
Layers at organization for security:
To implement the security of database

  • 2. Natural Gas, Pollution, and Our Environment Natural Gas, Pollution, and Our Environment In today s society there is a great need for environmental protection. Things that happened during our parents and grandparents age have caused a great concern for our ozone, our air, and our environment. You constantly hear about the many sources of pollution, but we hardly ever hear about the solutions. In this paper I will present one possible solution to the air pollution problem that has been caused by too many automobile emissions being released into the air. This possible solution deals with switching from diesel gas, to fuel trucks and bus fleets, to natural gas. I will discuss how this switch would assist in the reduction of air pollution and in this way help the environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Safe Transportation Fuel: В· One reason it is safer to transport is that natural gas will not spill to the ground and create pools of explosive gasoline. Natural gas will flow into the air and disappear into the atmosphere. В· Another safer transportation factor would have to be that natural gas will not burn at temperatures less than 1,200 degrees. Gasoline on the other hand will ignite at a mere 600 degrees. According to a survey conducted by the American Gas Association, this will help in reducing deaths caused by automobiles catching on fire during an auto accident. 3. Safety Advantages: В· Natural gas is not toxic and cannot be ingested. В· Natural gas is not a carcinogenic substance. В· Natural gas is not corrosive. All of the above mentioned factors make it seem apparent that natural gas is the best option at this point in time. But are there any known disadvantages of natural gas? The only disadvantage that I was able to locate would be the start up costs. It will be much more expensive in the beginning to use natural gas. The cost is not because the gas is more expensive, it is because there will have to be modifications made to gas stations, bus depot fueling stations, and of course, modifications to our automobiles. A typical natural gas bus would cost between $30,000 and $50,000 more than a diesel fueled bus. This means that instead of spending approximately $270,000 per ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Artist, Hans Rudi Giger and The Birth Machine HR GIGER The Swiss surrealist, Hans Rudi Giger is one of the few artists worldwide who does not and doesn t to sign his works of art. He is considered the modern day master of the macabre and his works are recognisable at first glance. The motifs of birth, death and sex are the predominant subjects of Giger s art. From the beginning of his career, powerful elements, seemingly inspired by repressed memories of a traumatic birth, appeared from his talented hand. He willingly acknowledges that themes of birth trauma appear in his works. By 1966 he had begun producing a series of shaft pictures which had their primary origins in dreams. Bottomless shafts, undoubtedly representative of the birth canal, surrounded by a series of steep banister less stairways the embodying fear and danger predominated these pictures. Other works produced at that time had birth allusions, and included underground cities as well as buried bio mechanoids. These humanoid beings combined features of humans with mechanical equipment.

  • 7. The Issue Of Privacy Laws Privacy laws are fairly new to humanity. We can take a look at the animal world, of which humans are biologically still classified in the same taxonomy family as apes. (Groves, 2005). Wild animals have no concept of privacy and humans in the beginning didn t either. Early humans lived in tribes and shared belongings, otherwise they wouldn t survive. The concept of what is considered private or not, has developed as human intellect has grown. As human intellect has increased, so has advancements in technology and the need for privacy to be addressed within legal context. With the advances in technology, certain events that were once considered private, certainly are not anymore. We can use the example of social media, and how some people will post pictures of their children, while still within the hospital room. This typically private moment in a family s life, in today s time is something for the world to see. Of course, the person who posted this on social media didn t want this event to be private, but what about social media users who only send these pictures to a select few friends? How will their privacy be protected, using an unprotected source such as the internet? • 10. Essay on Stefan Sagmeister, an Influential Designer Libby Castellani Holly Vaughn GRA 1109C 17 October 2012 Stefan Sagmeister: An Influential Designer In today s art world there seems to be a large gap that separates fine art from commercial art. Often there is a disconnected coldness associated with those who work in communications art and produce art for clients. As if all emotion and feeling is stripped from commercial artwork merely because it was created with the intention of pleasing a client. Stefan Sagmeister bridges the gap in the art industry by redefining commercial design as a personal, emotional, and deep art. The audacity of his brazen body is accompanied by harsh lettering that has literally been carved into his skin by his intern with a razorblade (Heller amp; Vienne, 10). While the broad reception to this poster can be attributed to its shock value, Sagmeister s self mutilation was a commentary on the absurdity of inking the body with tattoos (Heller amp; Vienne, 10). The scratches in his body display the details of the lecture as well as Sagmeister s words pertaining to his philosophy on design, Style=Fart. This philosophy, which he has now put to rest, translates as his conscious effort to not get wrapped up in fashion statements or trends; design that is defined by a temporary style is meaningless (Designboom). Sagmeister explains why he relinquished the philosophy in an interview with Designboom: I discovered that this is simply not true.
Through experience I found that if you have content that is
worthwhile the proper expression of that content, in terms of
form and style is actually very important. It can be a very

  • 16. Film Noir Film Analysis Film Noir is a style that first originated during the early 1940s, influenced by the tumultuous social and political environment of World War II. These style of films was a subversion from the conventional gangster films of the 1920s and 1930s. The resurgence of Noir style films in the 1970s retained the themes of crime, vice and moral ambiguity, but updated the content due to the relaxation of the Production Code. In this dissertation, the origins of film noirand its techniques will be examined, with the films The Third Man (Carol Reed, 1949), and L.A Confidential (Curtis Hanson, 1997) contrasted to highlight the impact of the Production Code. According to Paul Schrader s Notes on Film Noir (1972), there are four catalysts that spawned the film noir style: Post war disillusionment, a desire for realism, Germanic influences and the hardboiled tradition1. During World War II, the prominence of dark, brooding Film Noir was overpowered by the American propaganda produced, but changed after the tragedy of World War II, as American audiences accepted a less optimistic view of society. This desire for realism is highlighted by the artificial optimism of previous films pre World War II. Furthermore, The hardboiled narratives of the 1930s influenced Film Noir through their tough , defeatist attitude of characters who reside in a cynical atmosphere. We utilized phosphate, a buffer, and sodium chloride, a non buffer, as our base solutions and added hydrogen chloride, an acid, and sodium hydroxide, a base, to each solution separately. First, we took a base pH reading of 40mL of phosphate with a pH meter, then added 1 mL of our acid, HCl, at a time, recording the pH after each drop was added. He sent Sir Stanley deeper and deeper into the unexplored jungles in search of profitable resources. However Shakespeare still cleverly manages to make Lady Macbeth and Macbeth relate to audiences of all eras and to convey a strong moral message within his play. The relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is fascinating to study. Shakespeare constantly changes their attitude to each other throughout the play, making it hard to form a clear cut opinion of their relationship. By letting his wife announce that they must kill Duncan, Macbeth is able to offload some of the guilt of the deed onto her he uses Lady Macbeth as a scapegoat for his already guilty conscience. Upon sending the letter Macbeth immediately goes to see his wife. In my opinion he does this so that Lady Macbeth is ready to begin to override Macbeth s good characteristics immediately. When Macbeth loses Lady Macbeth s support later on in the play he is forced to act independently of her, and so loses the ability to murder. I feel that his actions throughout the play are an indication of Macbeth s dependency on his wife, as well as his misuse of their love in order to claim the title of King. He refers to Lady Macbeth as: [his] dearest partner of greatness showing that Macbeth envisages them sharing the power of the throne. In his soliloquy Macbeth admits that he has no spur To prick the sides of [his] intent which indicates that Macbeth knows that he will require Lady Macbeth to be his spur , and coax him into murdering Duncan. He also knows that by allowing Lady Macbeth to take up such a domineering role she will take the murder out of his hands, thus freeing him from a great deal of guilt. • 21. Analysis Of Mutability By Percy Bysshe Shelley Essay Portfolio Part B Mutability (Greenblatt 752 753) is a poem written by the Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley in 1816. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word Mutability as: Liability or tendency to change. (OED Online) Mutability was most probably written in order to portray Shelley s own views that humans do not have control over changes which occur in their own lives. However, it asserts Shelley s belief that, Nought may endure but Mutability. Shelley demonstrates this idea by using various literary devices, diction, and a sombre tone which is reflected through his choice of writing in the lyric form. Mutability was written at a time when Shelley experienced significant life changing events; January 1816 saw the birth of his first child to Mary Shelley, in the same year Shelley experienced financial struggles, and the suicide of his first wife Harriet in December 1816. (O Neill, M.) In addition to the changes he endured in his personal life, Shelley was very much aware of the changes happening during 1816 which was named, The year without a summer due to extreme changes in weather. During his trip to Switzerland, Shelley and a group of other Romantic poets began to create works to reflect this time of great change. (Gardiner, Lisa) This is significant as being exposed to so much change during 1816 more than likely inspired Shelley to write Mutability to demonstrate the human ability to accept and embrace change, as it cannot be prevented. ... The other threat to society to Mill is that women have fewer rights then men such as voting he believes women should be allowed to have the same opportunities (John Stuart Mill; Alan Ryan, 2006). Mill s opinion on biggest threat to society Firstly, like I stated in the introduction, Mill believes that the biggest threat to society is that Freedom of Speech being stifled and women not having the same rights and opportunities as men. This is a threat to society for several reasons. Mill pointed out that the opinion which it is attempted to suppress by authority may possibly be true (Frederick Nietzsche; Douglas Smith, 2008, p. Students from Anglo backgrounds, for example, are often seen as having a cultural advantage whilst others, such as Middle Eastern students, are perceived as culturally prone to underachievement. These claims confine ethnicity to fixed and bound stereotypes, and see educational achievement as a result of the inherent qualities of these groups (Watkins, 2013). However, ethnicity... In fact, studies indicated that Indigenous Australians are significantly behind non indigenous Australians in academic achievement (Bradley, Draca, Green Leeves, 2006). Geographical remoteness, socioeconomic status and indigenous ethnicity and culture have a major influence on educational success for Indigenous students. An example of this can be seen in rural indigenous communities where indigenous economic systems are still used, forcing a gap in terms of both geographical location and socioeconomic status (Altman, 2008). As a result of this gap, Indigenous students from these areas are not able to obtain the same level of education as students living in urban settings where colonial economic systems are recognised (Altman, 2008). These socio cultural factors construct a specific cultural capital for indigenous students that is not widely recognised in Australian schools as it is not the dominant capital presented in Western education environments. Ultimately, this leaves indigenous students, specifically those in geographically remote locations or of a socioeconomic status that doesn t allow a broader range of options, at an educational disadvantage. It s believed that the surface of Mercury is geologically inactive; although, only 55% of the surface has been mapped in enough detail to see its geology. Some of the largest craters in this period were filled with lava from Mercury s interior. It s believed that vulcanism on Mercury ended during its first 700 800 million years. Craters on Mercury can be small bowl shaped pockets, or huge impact craters hundreds of kilometers across. The largest crater on Mercury is the Caloris Basin, measuring 1,550 km. Four types of plate boundaries exist: Transform bounderies occur where two lithospheric plates slide; Divergent bounderies occur where two plates slide apart from each other; Convergent bounderies occur where two plates slide toward each other; Plate boundery zones occur where the effects of the interactions are unclear. The lithosphere, which is the rigid outermost shell of a planet (on Earth, the crust and upper mantle), is broken up into tectonic plates. On Earth, there are seven or eight major plates (depending on how they are defined) and many minor plates. Mars Mars has two moons Phobos and Deimos. which are thought to be captured asteroids. Both satellites were discovered in 1877 by Asaph Hall and are named after the characters Phobos (panic /fear) and Deimos(terror/dread) who, in Greek mythology, accompanied their father Ares, god of war, into battle. Ares was known as Mars to the Romains. It is possible that Mars may have moons smaller than 50 100 meters and a dust ring between Phobos and Deimos, but none have been ... • 42. Analysis Of Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems Diana Farinho ENG 385 5/8/2015 Love poems Adrienne Rich s Twenty One Love Poems, mainly focus on lesbian lovers which is a different style of writing from typical love poetry that is usually written by a man to a woman. The two poems that will be focused on are To His Coy Mistress written by Andrew Marvell as well as There Is a Garden in Her Face by Thomas Campion. Rich s love poems mainly focus on two women who work together against all odds using the strength of their love. They also have a powerful love for one another which keeps their relationship close and deep. In contrast, the poems that are written by the male poets seem as though they speak of their lover as being a goddess or someone they worship rather than a partner. The attraction that the men have in these poems for the women is mostly physical attraction. They look at women as beautiful, innocent, and pure which is not realistically correct in most cases. Specifically in Marvell and Campion s poems it seems like more of a fairy tale rather than a real love story in which Rich describes in her poems. Another noticeable difference among these writers is that Rich spoke mainly of women she is close to and had . Whereas Marvell and Campion described the women as simply beautiful and enchanting. Equality is one of the big difference between these three writers. Rich writes about her lover as her equal partner in contrast to Marvell s and Campion s poems where the female is looked up ... • 43. The Raft Of Flowers By Robert Frost In his poem The Tuft of Flowers, Robert Frost tells the story of a lonely man who is turning grass in a field after a mower has cut it down. Though the man at first believes he is completely alone and that all other people are too, he later reevaluates that position, concluding the opposite that connections exist between everyone and everything and that nobody is ever alone. Frost argues that one is never truly alone as all people are connected to each other. Initially, the speaker in the poem feels lonely and unconnected to the world around him, I must be, as he had been, alone, (ln 8). Frost s use of punctuation is especially interesting in this phrase as he uses a comma immediately before an em dash, enormously exaggerating the pause... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frost s use of personification in this line is overwhelming, calling attention to the speaker s newly awakened sense of closeness with other people. The speaker, overjoyed to see the tuft of flowers amidst the destruction of the rest of the field, realizes that the mower must have also seen the beauty of the flowers, noting, The mower in the dew had loved them thus,/By leaving them to flourish, not for us (ln 27 28). The speaker understands that the mower had left the flowers for purely selfish reasons, but at the same time, he feels connected to the mower on the basis that they had both recognized and admired the beauty of the flowers. This revelation leads him to conclude that people are connected to each other in both obvious and subtle ways, calling the mower a spirit kindred to my own (ln. 35). Interestingly, lines 9 and 10 are juxtaposed with the last two lines of the poem: Men work together, I told him from the heart,/ Whether they work together or apart (ln 41 42). Not only does the speaker contradict his earlier statement, but Frost also mirrors the wording, the two sentences appearing nearly identical, in order to create a visual representation of the meaning of his words: people are more alike than they are different and therefore bonds exist between all people. Frost also structures the poem in such a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Video Games Should Be Legal Violent video games have been a source of controversy since 1976. Though there are many issues surrounding these games, there is one that is quite fickle: whether or not the descriptions for violent video games should be more thorough and if parents or adults should be able to purchase violent video games for minors. There should be more descriptive ratings and adults should not be allowed to buy video games for minors, because the ratings and descriptions now are not very thorough, and minors can still get access even though regulations have been put in place. Violence and other inappropriate material has been a pinnacle of popular video games over time. For most a video game is just that, a game, but for others and those in the media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One important instance in video game history was the formation of the ESRB. That is the Entertainment Software Rating Board and they are responsible for giving video games ratings based on what is in them. This was formed due to Congressional hearing in 1993 where the main focus was two controversial video games. It was formed to deflect potential video game regulation by the government as its own entity (NCAC). This allowed for the very controversial game Mortal Kombat to stay in stores. This was a fighting game that was the first to feature real lifelike violence. It not only featured blood and gore, but also more realistic looking characters. The premise of the game was, the player would pick a character and fight other characters to the death, whichever character won gained the ability to perform a finishing move that was very brutal and involved some form of mutilation to the other character. This was the main aspect that had people in uproar. Though due to the formation of the ESRB Mortal Kombat remained in stores. After the formation of the ESRB, there were still instances of uproar over video game violence. In 1997 Jack Thompson files the first of many lawsuits that claims violent video games are responsible for violence in teens (NCAC). This suit was brought about due to the shooting that happened at Heath High School that year. Though the biggest action taken against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The smartphone is a cellular phone that operates many of the roles of a computer, holding Internet access, a touchscreen interface, and a various operating system that enables downloaded applications to run. In this modern society, with smartphones, tablets and cloud computing, everything is moving around quickly. The growing abilities of mobile phones are positioning them as the technology of choice, replacing PCs, for many users. As such, the use of these devices must be considered as a vital learning device available to higher education. According to Lacohee, Wakeford, Pearson, 2003, in the initial rise of mobile technology advancement, cell phones were exclusive devices originally used by middle and upper class people. Smartphones has the facilities to transmit and receive calls and create and accept text messages, as another digital portable gadgets like personal digital assistants (PDAs), such as an event list, Bluetooth, music player, video games, GPS, digital camera and video camera and can operate a variety of third party software elements known as apps . • 46. Security Of Database Systems Has Become Very Important Now... DATABASE SECURITY Abstract: Security of database systems has become very important Now a days. As many of the operations now a days depend on the database systems, security became a problem because of increase in the number of web applications. If the data is affected in an application, it not only affects that single application but it affects the entire applications present in that system. Data may be damaged not only from the outside damages but may be also from inside damages. Hence, we are using some of the data security techniques like encryption of the data and decryption of the data for keeping the data safe. Introduction for security of DB: Security of data mainly concerned with the factors like observation of any of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, information control is required for the correct flow of data. For the encryption of the data, we use the cryptographic control. There are different types of components which provide the data protection in the DBMS. Some such components are access control and semantic correctness. Secrecy of data is maintained by the access control. If a person wants to make changes to the data, then it checks for whether the person trying to change the data is the appropriate user or not by using some of the security points. By these security points we can say that whether the person can use the data or not. Secrecy of data can also be maintained by the use of some techniques like encryption which is applied to the data when transmitted or when stored. Now the problem is how to change or access the encrypted data. There is a technique called semantic correctness which verifies the semantics of data. If the semantics are correct data can be accessed. The data is stored in the form of symbols. At the end we can recover the data and can make sure whether the data is correct and it is available by using of the recovery system and concurrency control. Now the research areas are also included in the database security. There are some special techniques involved in the research part which are order preserving and privacy preserving. The applications mainly based on the privacy and the correctness of order. Layers at organization for security: To implement the security of database ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
