Boko Haram Is A Terrorist Extremist Group
Introduction
Boko Haram is a terrorist extremist group that fights against Christianity. Their goal is to turn the
world into Islam believers. Right now they have focused on Africa, Nigeria in particular. In order
to do this, they have taken over towns, stolen girls from schools and brought terror to Nigeria. Boko
Haram promotes a version of Islam which makes it haram , or forbidden, for Muslims to take part
in any political or social activity associated with Western society. This includes voting in elections,
wearing shirts and trousers or receiving a secular education. Boko Haram regards the Nigerian state
as being run by non believers, even when the country had a Muslim president and it has extended its
military campaign by targeting neighbouring states.

Ancient Greek Forms Of Government
Ancient Greece experienced many forms of government during its lifespan. The different cities, that
composed Ancient Greece, experienced with these forms of governments one after another. Or
sometimes neighbored cities would be ruled differently, by one man or a group of men. Some of
the popular forms of ruling were a monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy and a more widely
known form, democracy. Ancient Greeks proved to us how effective and how long these forms of
ruling were able to last before falling apart. Let s look at each one of them and see how different
they are form each other and what makes them similar. A monarchy is a political system where
power is held by someone called a monarch. Wilde adds: Monarchs usually both hold and achieve
their position through the right of hereditary succession (e.g. they were related, usually the son or
daughter, of the previous monarch) (Wilde, April 2017). Although monarchies might have been
popular in different parts of the world, it wasn t the case in Ancient Greeceas Cartwright pointed
that out (March, 2013). There were only two states who qualified as monarchies in Greek. These
states were Macedonia and Epeiros, but the monarch shared the power he had with an assembly
(Cartwright, March 2017). One political system that showed some similarities to a monarchy is an
aristocracy. This form of government is when the best (in ancient Greece s case, aristocrats) rules
(Brouwers, June 2015). This means that only a special

Essay on he Meiji Restoration in Japan
In 1868, The Meiji Restoration in Japan begins as the Emperor Meiji oversees an era of rapid
modernization, creates a conscript army, and abolishes the samurai class ranking which has defined
order in Japan since the 1600 s. Education is reformed, a constitution is created; a parliament
established. Victory in wars with Russia and China will begin the dominant period of Japanese
nationalism and influence leading to World War II.
Japan in modern times is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. This
modern image that Japan hasn t been around forever, Japans decision to change from an old
traditional country to a westernised one came in 1868, and it took only 50 years for the
improvements to be made. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now realizing that Japan must play an international role in the world, they were united in looking
towards the West. They hoped to adapt western ideas while retaining the values of the East.
Government stability was crucial to this objective. In 1873 a new tax system provided a secure
revenue base and abolished the feudal land system. In 1877 the conscript army defeated a major
samurai revolt led by Saigo Takamori, a leading figure in the imperial restoration. Inflation
reduced the value of government revenues, and between 1881 and 1885 a rigorous deflation
policy initiated by Matsasukata Masayoshi stabilized the currency. The incredible speed of
adaptation shown by the change in systems allowed the Restoration to go smoother and faster, it
gave the people incentives to work towards a greater Japan, especially when all classes were equal.
The young Meiji government worked hard to balance production for domestic use as well as for
export. Protection for native industries was a prime consideration, but the new internationalists
understood the necessity for an accelerated industrial revolution in Japan. They were quick to adopt
western methods in heavy industries and in the processing of textiles. The foundations for some of
the great fortunes of Japan were laid in the early Meiji period, when the government, after
nationalising and developing such industries as shipbuilding, mining, railroads, electricity and silk

Epic Of Gilgamesh Analysis
In the Epic of Gilgamesh , it is easy to conclude that Gilgamesh, the protagonist of the story, is the
hero. In Like Mayflies in a Stream , Gilgamesh is merely a scary person who appears in the story
here or there rather than being the protagonist. Instead, Shamhat is the main person that the story
focuses on, but the book is imprecise on one heroof the entire story. There are numerous characters
that could reflect hero aspects such as going on a quest, having another to help guide them, or
facing trials. Personally, I believe that there is no true hero in this story due to the nature that
Shamhat is a woman, who were represented badly during this time, and that Shauna Roberts did not
want to misrepresent the epic due to extreme... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This singular word, only , immediately tells us as a reader that they are looked down upon, are
not as good as men, and are not as important to society. Along with this, many people call
Shamhat a whore when her pregnant stomach begins to show. Women, and girls for that matter,
as Nameshda was only 13, were raped by Gilgamesh. Shamhat is the older sister in her family,
yet her younger brother Geshtu gets to make all of the decisions for the family. The scenarios in
this book are contemplative of how women are viewed and treated compared to the men of
society. Patriarchy is correct by their standards, and having women in any sort of important role
is almost nonexistent. Due to this condescending view, we can understand why it would be
difficult to have Shamhat as the hero in this story. If men are the superior ones, wouldn t it make
sense to have a man as the hero? In the event that a woman was a hero in this story, it may make
readers predict that the entire society will change their outlook on women by the end of the story.
On the other hand, others may think that Roberts was trying too hard to modernize this epic. With
this issue, Roberts could fear that creating this story with a female hero may be too contemporary
and take away from the true epic. She already modernized the book somewhat by adding in a love
triangle and happily ever after ending. Adding a female hero may just completely

Have you ever caught yourself pondering about how fast the professional athletes are these

now you can with the new and improved Shoes of Prey. About 100 years back the first sneaker

the edge they needed to compete at a professional level. These predictions were correct to a certain
extent... Since then, new technology has been discovered which gives companies the ability to

They also have a lot of powerful words like, Don t be the prey. Run like the prey. This part of the
ad practices the use of assonance by repeating that o sound which creates a persuasive tone of
voice. Assonance is used here to emphasize the intensity of the situation and it does a very good
job doing it. Also in the same ad we use Synesthesia by using a colorful outdoor theme in the
background. The use of synesthesia is very persuasive here because it makes the viewer
experience other senses than vision. It makes the viewer feel like they are the animal in the ad
which is a very good technique to use in this situation because it puts the viewer in the preys
shoes. One thing that the Shoes of Prey ad lacks is the amount of text provided in the written ad.
This really affects the amount of customers that we acquire. The amount of text is what really can
draw people in but without enough information/explanation, it is hard for people to really
understand why they should buy the product. Another flaw to the ads were the lack of
comparisons. Implementing more forms of comparison (simile or metaphor) would have been very
useful in our case. We could have used comparison to show how our product is better than all of
our competitors. We should have compared the materials to other companies product to show why

Keeping Memos For The State Of Texas
Although it can be hard at times, it is very important to read and keep memos given to you by
employers. Company s update their policies from time to time and you have to abide by the
changes. When I worked for the state of Texas we would receive multiple emails regarding policy
changes and or updates. I had to abide by the changes.
Privacy Rights Clearinghouse went over computer and workstation monitoring, email monitoring,
telephone monitoring, mobile device monitoring, audio and video monitoring, GPS tracking,
postal mail and social media monitoring. Employers are able to see what is on your screen, how
much time you spend away from your computer and how many keystrokes per hour each employer
does. Employers are able to discretely monitor employees with certain computer equipment.
Employees may not know they are being monitored. Employers can review email content. Even
though the message may have an option for marking an email as private, the company may still
have access to the email. You should assume that your work emails are not private. Even though
you may delete your emails, the company still has access to them also.
Employers have the ability to monitor and listen to your phone calls you have with your clients
and customers and they can obtain a record of the phone calls you make. If you wear a headset,
your conversations with your coworkers could be monitored. Employers could have apps on your
mobile device that monitors your text messages, email, location, web

Seven Years War Dbq
Before Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence to declare the America freedom
from Great Britain, the American colonists had been under the tyranny of King George III and
Parliament which brought them into poverty and a long period of warfare with other Empire.
However, the result of the Seven Years War, which took place between 1754 and 1765, sparked the
beginning of the American Revolutionto fight against Great Britain and to gain freedom from its
long period of tyranny. Specifically, when the battle of the Seven Years War between Britain and
France ended, it left Great Britain with a huge debt that needed to be paid. Members of the
Parliament said Britain had fought the long, costly war to save the colonists from the powerful...

Specifically, the Seven Years War left both Britain and France burdened with economic debts. Since
the debts was estimated by the European financial system that centered in Netherland, British s
neutrality with other European neighbors aroused tensions. In addition, the elimination of France
from Canada also created new conflict between French citizens and Americans, who now on
British s side. Therefore, as a great empire, Britain became suspicious of all its European neighbors.
This fear was justified after France, which recently got eliminated from Canada, determined on
humbling Britain to satisfy its pride and to restore its economy in Europe. Thus, this triggered
Britain to start economic competition with France in Europe. Since there were limited resources,
Britain chose to tax the colonists to tighten its administration in North America. The Parliament said
that, The cost of administering the North American colonies alone rose to $135,000 a year in 1763
five times what it had cost in 1756 . With the debt of the Seven Year War and many others from
previous fights, and with the suspicion coming from other European countries concerning its
weakening economy, the British government needed to collect more taxes to manage its empire
that got tripled in debts during these years. After knowing the Britain s reasons of taxation, the
colonists became aware of Britain s

Creating False Memories Summary
Over the course of an individual s life time, the amount of specific memories encountered is
endless. Because there are so many moments throughout a life span, it can be nearly impossible to
remember them all. The article Creating False Memories written by, E. Loftus, focuses on the idea
that therapist and psychologists can indirectly plant false memories within their patient s thoughts.
To begin, this article opens up with various real life examples of court cases where individuals
have sued their psychologist for planting false memories into their thoughts. Many of these cases
resulted in patients feeling as though they were sexually abused by their closest family members.
Many therapists and psychologists are said to start their meetings... Show more content on

By being able to see cases where false memories had the potential to ruin lives, and harm
individuals, it brings more awareness to the severity of the problem at hand. After looking at these
individual cases, it was a helpful transition into learning about the study Loftus and her team were
creating to test this hypothesis. The study that she created went hand in hand with the idea that
false memories are formed most likely when another individual confirms them. For a certain part of
this study, her team claimed to the participants that a relative had confirmed each of the memories
placed in front of them, including the false memory. When an individual feels as though someone
close to them has a memory of something, they tend to see it as real for themselves. That sense
of validation is enough for a false memory to become a reality when sitting in a study. I also
believe that the way she interviewed the college students had an impact on her results. Many of
the students claimed they did not recognize the false memory during the first interview, but
recalled it during the second. By having a second interview, they were exposed to the same
memory twice. Sometimes all it takes is having a small recent memory of something, to make it
seem as though you ve known it for a long time. I believe hearing about the false memory in the
first interview, was what made it possible for students to recognize it the second time

Persuasive Essay On Site Composts
I believe that there should be composting because it will help out the environment and will save
lots of money. Uneaten foods should not just go to waste and go in the trash, it should be recycled
and used as soil and fertilizer. Schools with space on their campus can consider onsite composting
in addition to or instead ofВ sending food scraps off site. Most schools send a lot of food offsite or
just put it to wastewhich they really dont want to do. There are benefits and drawbacks to on site
composting. The benefits are clear: Students see what is happening to their food scraps; they learn
to tend the pile; and they can do research on the pile by conducting experiments. Students also reap
what they sow. At the end of the year there is a

A Day At The Meadowlands Flea Market
Growing up in such a majorly diversified city, and having attended public schools all of my life, I
barely encountered racism of any sort. It was something that was not discussed often in my home
or anywhere else, outside of my knowledge of slavery s history in America or what I ve seen in
movies. Having friends and family from so many different countries, backgrounds, and ethnicities, it
was tough relating to any direct form of discrimination that I know others around me have
encountered. Then, there was that day ...at the Meadowlands Flea Market. Here... In New Jersey, the
learned hatred for people of color stared me right in face, as if it was my time to finally confront
something I have never been exposed to. This was one of many life changing events that has
happened to me, though it happened at least 10 years ago, the memory is as fresh as yesterday s
occurrences. This very moment opened my eyes to a new respect for any other minority or anyone
who has endured racismand discrimination.
Springtime in New Jersey meant finally taking the coats off and enjoying some outdoor fun,
festivals, carnivals, flea markets and such. One Saturday morning my mom and grandmother
decided we all should take a drive Rutherford to check out the flea market that comes around
annually. Located right in the parking lots of the Meadowlands Racetrack was my favorite
because of the great food of course and hundreds of people from all over the state were there to
shop. As we arrive to the flea

Acid-Base Titration Lab Report

Acid Base Titration Lab Write up
Introduction:
Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to
an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration.
Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of
a solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has
an unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard
solution. Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is
added to an acid until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be
equal. In other words, the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The
following equation can be used to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution:
(Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or
MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the
unknown solution.
The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point
and the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that
it is neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the
solution is acidic or pink which

The Crowd A Study Of The Popular Mind Summary
Gustav Le Bon Charles Marie Gustav Le Bon was a sociologist, psychologist, and physicist who
is well known for his writing in each of these fields. Le Bon was a witness to the actions of the
French Commune, in the spring of 1871, what he refers to as the French Convention in his essay
The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind. He was greatly influenced in what he saw during this
revolutionary uprising and analyzed the actions of crowds and the way they acted differently
than the individuals within them would (Wikipedia, n.d.). The individuals in the crowd lose their
conscience personality and adopt the thoughts and actions of the psychological crowd. Le Bon
points out that the size of a psychological crowd could be as small as a half a dozen and as large as
a nation, and the combined influence driving them to act does not have to be negative, but could
easily have a positive vibe (Le Bon, 1926).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Homeschooling And Public Education
Is your child at the age where they need to begin their education? Are you conflicted with the many
options of where to educate your child? When it comes to the issue of education, many people from
educators to students to parents to administrators to politicians have different ideas as to what
makes for the best education. According to Samantha Moore, in her evaluation essay titled There s
no place like home, she argues that homeschooling provides a better educational experience for
students over the public schoolsystem. Specifically she states that evaluating homeschooling
through aesthetic, moral, and practical criteria favors homeschooling over public school (Moore,
2017, p. 2). In other words, she expresses that homeschooling is better morally, is cheaper and more
convenient, and is safer. While I agree that for some students faced with certain situations,
homeschooling is the better option, I disagree with Moore s overall claim that homeschooling is the
best option for students over public education. By examining the examples from her evaluation
essay in a different way, it will become clear that the American public school system is actually the
best option when it comes to students education. Although Moore makes a point that homeschooled
students are often involved in various activities outside of their home, allowing them the social
skills that the majority of people believe they lack, her argument is flawed in the sense that those

Loyalty And Chivalry Throughout The Middle Ages
Throughout the Middle Ages, wealth and status granted by God was the main defining feature of
power within a hierarchical status, yet within all upper levels of society, the concepts that defined
individuals and groups were that of honour, and military prowess. These two concepts also
incorporate ideas of manners and morals for those of higher standard within society to practice. All
together this can be incorporated into the idea of chivalry, a word and idea commonly used within
medieval Europe to describe a set of values with a large emphasis on upholding high social and
moral standards, as well as devout loyalty to God and liege. However within the concept of

Most knights and those with education within the realm of chivalry were brought up to be
traditionally religious, often enacting the pious and obedient role ascribed to them as sons of
Holy Mother Church, showing how spiritual ideas of Catholicism and chivalry shared virtues
important to both the clergy and nobility. Zealousness was also an impact chivalry had on
medieval society due to the ties almost all knights had with the Roman Catholic faith, as during the
periods of crusades many people used chivalry as justification and defence to support the religious
backings behind these holy wars, and through increased zealousness, the impact religion plays on
chivalry is clearly visible. Yet the most zealous task a knightcould undertake would be that of a

opponent merited more divine blessing that ordinary fighting at home. Furthermore many knights
justified the intensive labour and tasks as [having] been assigned to them by divine will, outlining
the attitude surrounding those following a chivalrous code. Ultimately it was the devout religious
code that causes knights and monarchs to a life of devout social activities, and physical labour in

Essay on Warrior Ethos
This is a different sort of Pressfield book. Unlike the historical fiction genre in which he s written
such best sellers as Gates of Fire, The Afghan Campaign, and The Profession, The Warrior Ethos is
the culmination of years of discussions Pressfield s been having with Marines and others who were
taken with the blend of courage under fire and humanity shown by Leonidas, Dienekes, Matthais,
Gent, and the other characters in his books. I wanted to give something back to our men and
women fighting overseas, Pressfield told Gazette, so I put together the best anecdotes and stories
from all my research about the Spartans, Alexander s Macedonians, the Romans, and Rommel.

But as Philip of Macedon, Alexander the Great, Xerxes, and others marched into history as they
fought their way across the Mediterranean and Central Asia, civilization was spread as conquerors
and conquered traded goods, took wives, and exchanged ideas.
This sort of intermingling led to the Indian warrior epic Bhagavad Gita expanding the warrior ethos
to a loftier plane from the war against one s neighbor to an internal struggle to reach one s better
nature as Arunja, the Gita s hero, battles against enemies whose names can be translated as greed,
sloth, and selfishness all moral weaknesses that must be overcome.
It s that need to test oneself against both physical and moral adversity, coupled with the blunt
Spartan courage in the face of overwhelming odds, Pressfield believes, that gives us the warrior
ethos of today. But despite the military component of society being increasingly marginalized in the
West, young men and women still flock to recruiting stations to challenge themselves and see how
well they perform under adverse conditions.
Pressfield writes each of us struggles every day to define and defend our sense of purpose and
integrity, to justify our existence...to understand, if only within our own hearts, who we are and
what we believe in. This struggle might be Fallujah for a chosen few, or working the night shift
for others. The Warrior Ethos does not provide a definitive answer as to what makes someone a

Discipline as a Soldier

Discipline
Discipline is the most useful quality. It means to act in an orderly manner, to act strictly according
to principle. Discipline involves the ability to obey and follow simple task, orders, or request.
Discipline is something you acquire through years of being taught, from young to old discipline
should be a huge factor of your life. It should be something you live by and use often. Discipline
leads to success in everything you do from school, or sports as a child or teenager to your career
as an adult. If you use discipline in school or athletics you ll be a better student, getting good

When given an article fifteen in the military this is a form of military disciplinary action. Every
action comes with disciplinary consequences whether those consequences are good or bad very
much depends on your ability of discipline. Even though I have not been deployed yet, I know
that down range discipline plays a huge factor on and off the battle field. You need to have the
discipline to do what your leaders have asked of you. Whether it be getting your leave
documents or listening to them when they tell you to get stacked on a door preparing to enter
and clear the rooms in the building. Off the battle field discipline could be used in cleaning your
room, doing your dishes, making sure your bed is made or even just making sure your floor is
swept and mopped everyday. This also helps you in the aspect of being healthy. If you don t do
your dishes mold can become a problem which can cause serious illness. So a disciplined life
style is a healthy life style. I think that the most discipline was instilled in me through basic
training but I ve been getting practice with discipline since I was young kid. As a teenager, when
I got in trouble at home I would get spanked or grounded depending on how severe the mistake
was. This is a form of a disciplinary action that almost every parent uses when raising their
children. So even as parents discipline is important. It provides requires your child or children to

Essay On Biographies Of Hegemony And The Naked Citadel
In both essays Biographies of Hegemony by Karen Ho and The Naked Citadel by Susan Faludi,
there are two higher institutions, which would be Wall Street and the Citadel. Both of their goals is
to remold an individual to fit their criteria. Each individual has a certain identity and presents
themselves in a specific way. People are known to change due to influences in their everyday lives,
which eventually changes their identities into someone completely different. In these two essays, it
becomes evident that because of the pressures put upon people by these hierarchies, people
unconsciously change and are shaped into new individuals while hiding their true identities. Any
personcan be completely stripped of their old identities by falling... Show more content on

In the Naked Citadel, the boy s identity is essentially being performed. They are distinguished as
superior non feminine men, while behind the scenes they are typically performing feminine
acts. Violently harassing the young knobs, showering together, and making their beds together
was where they could show their true selves. Faludi mentions how the result is ruthless intimacy,
in which physical abuse stands in for physical affection, and every display of affection must be
counterbalanced by a display of sadism (Faludi, 100). The boys become so infatuated with
showing their feminine side that when they snap back to reality they realize it is a sign of
weakness and use anger to feel relief. The Cadets act like they are on a stage playing a role in a
play much like the Treehouse where men dress up as Drag Queens. Both identities are being
performed, which means while playing a role you are still truly yourself. This is also seen in
Biographies of Hegemony, while Princeton and Harvard students are getting recruited, they put on
this elite, smart act of attraction to be a part of this high institution of Wall Street. It is claimed that
the most distinguishing features of investment banking are their smartness and exclusivity (Ho,

Shadow Tsarin Anna Dalassena In Anna Of Byzantium

Athletes are born to play. Musicians are born to play. But, a leader? A leader is born to lead. Anna
Dalassena, the mother of the Emperor Alexius, possesses traits that make her suitable for the
position of a fit ruler. Anna of Byzantium, written by Tracy Barrett is a noveldescribing the life of
Anna Comnena through her point of view; she describes how her grandmother, Anna Dalassena,
had changed her life from the royal palace to the ramshackled convent. Dalassena plans out what
she needs to do in order to restore the power in her hands while maintaining her composure but

talking amongst the sovereignty in discussion with the foreign ambassadors, Anna doesn t accept
the fact that the firstborn son should always get priority to the throne and refutes it with her own

Dalassena takes the initiative to make a standpoint on how it s not always customs and traditions

According to Roger Ebert, nightmare movies such as the Labyrinth are not as suspenseful as they
should be. These movies do not follow any rules or logic. Anything can occur, nothing has to
happen, rules continuously change, and nothing is as it seems. He believes we are wasting energy
caring: Consider, for example, the scene in Labyrinth where Sarah thinks she is waking up from
her horrible dream and opens the door of her bedroom. Anything could be outside that door. He also
believes the Muppet idea works better when humans visit the Muppet world as in the Muppet
Movies rather than when Muppets appear the human world. He states another problem with the film
is its length. Ebert argues that without a strong plot to carry us through the movie, movies like this
are endanger of becoming just a series of incidents: There s no structure to the order of the
adventures. Sarah does this, she does that, she s almost killed here, almost trapped there, until at last

In the final study, Kibira, Nansubuga, Tumwesigye, Atuyambe, Makumbi (2014) explored the
relation of HIV prevalence and risky sexual behaviors among circumcised and uncircumcised men
in Uganda. In the study design, 9,524 male participants aged 15 59 years old were studied from
data from the Uganda AIDS Indicator Survey. This national survey was divided into a two stage
stratum cluster sampling that involved selecting households for interview (Kibira et al., 2014).
During the interview of each household, blood samples were collected for HIV status, circumcision
status, and interview questions that addressed risky sexual behaviors including: unprotected sex,
numbers of partners, and transactional sex (Kibira et al., 2014).
Based on the result, there s a direct correlation of circumcised males with lower HIV prevalence
among all age groups. HIV prevalence was 35 37% lower in the circumcised men, after
controlling for several variables (Kibira et al., 2014). The study showed risky sexual behaviors are
also important factors affecting the HIV prevalence on both circumcised and uncircumcised men.
The riskiest behavior practice in all men was unprotected sex, followed by multiple sexual partners,
and transactional sex. The practice of risky sexual behavior was found to be significantly higher in
circumcised men than in uncircumcised men. The research showed that although HIV prevalence

Separation Of Public Spaces In To Kill A Mockingbird By...
The South was a volatile place when concerning the separation of the white and black
communities. Laws were put into place to solidify the separation of the races while providing
equal opportunity to all. However, these laws, known as the Jim Crow laws, were ratified to give
the illusion of equality while allowing for separation to continue. Though the image these laws
held gave the impression of equality, while the people did not hold equal status. To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee explores the racial tensions of separate but equalthroughout the novel
and how these ideas affected the daily lives of those who lived during this time. Separation of
public spaces and the relationships between the people themselves are small examples of the
realities of the laws effects on real people in the South. The Jim Crow laws perpetuated the racial
tension of the South rather than alleviating the problems by sacrificing equality for the social norm
of separation.
The physical separation of the white and black races was of great concern in the South and how
each of the races would interact with one another. This separation included preferential treatment of
white individuals over their black counterparts. While the people filed into the courthouse waiting
for the trial in To Kill a Mockingbird, the Negros, having waited for the white people to go upstairs,
began to come in (Lee 186). The physical separation continued as the Colored balcony ran along

The Natural Family Planning ( Safe Period )
3 Natural family planning ( safe period):
Natural family planning is one of the most widely utilized means of birth control, espicially for
those whom their religion or their cultural beliefs do not authorize devices or drugs for birth
control. This method includes periodic abstinence, to avoid intercourse during a female s fertile
period, which is around the time of ovulation. Determination of the fertile period involve the
calendar method, cervical mucus method, or the symptothermal method technique.
The calendar method is based on 3 hypotheses as follows: The human ovum can be fertilized only
for approximately 24 hours after ovulation, spermatozoa can maintain their ability of fertilizing for
only 48 hours after coitus, and ovulation usually occurs 12 16 days before the onset of the
subsequent menestruation. The menses is recorded for 6 cycles to estimate the fertile period. The
earliest day of the fertile period is calculated by the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle
subtracted by 18. The latest day of the fertile period is assessed by the number of days in the
longest cycle subtracted by 11.

Best PCEP Classes
The Good Part of School: The Best PCEP Classes All of the best classes to take at PCEP share
similar qualities. They are all easy, fun, and elective based. Although a few are somewhat related
to core classes, they are still interesting nonetheless. I speak from experience because I have
taken (or are currently taking) almost all of the classes on this list. The most common quality
that some classes share is that they are easy. The easiest class of all would be Combination

can get a lot of work accomplished in there, like doing repairs on a car belonging to a kid in the
class. There are opportunities to learn all the advanced techniques of mechanics in order to use
them in the future for fixing up cars. The third and most interesting category of electives is
electronics classes, like Photoshop and Web Design. They teach students a lot about computer
skills and are really easy. They can also be enjoyable sometimes when the class does special
projects that involve students using creativity to make something, like a website or a picture. In

Early education of children is so important because it usually decides whether or not the children go
to college or be successful in life; so this is the reason American government should invest more in
improving the education for the children of immigrants.
I have read about how immigrants struggle to get their education in the United States because of
lack of well qualified ESL teachers, limited resources in schools for immigrants etc. The education
system has been very unfair for the immigrants because very little things are done to help them be
more successful in getting their education. In an article published in Harvard University journal a
researcher says, Even though one out of every four children in the United States is an immigrant or
the U.S. born child of immigrants, many schools are ill equipped to meet their needs, which shows
how the education system has not been fair for the immigrants (Tamer). As we all know there are
lots of immigrants in United States and I think that the education system in United States should be
changed in such a way that it suits everyone including the immigrants. In the same article Tamer
says, Even though one out of every four children in the United States is an immigrant or the U.S.
born child of immigrants, many schools are ill equipped to meet their needs , which shows more
importance of schools and programs to help the immigrants in the United States.

The Crucible By Arthur Milller
Arthur Milller s The Crucible and Katherine Howe s Conversion follow teenage girls and how
their individual actions and actions as a group affect colonial Salem Village and present day
Danvers, Massachusetts. In Salem Village an outbreak of witch accusation by a group of young
women tears apart the entire community and has everyone question what the truth is. Religion
and honesty are large factors in peoples views on the situation taking place in Salem. In modern
day Danvers an outbreak of a mystery disease, conversion disorder, similarly has the people of
the town questioning what the truth is. This disorder is exclusively affecting the students of the
all girls catholic high school, St. Joan s. These girls exploit their disorder by talking to media
and going on television. Both stories seem to reflect similar plot lines of rebellion, scandal, and
sex. Both follow the lives of teenage girls who face similar problems. The time of adolescence in
a woman s life is an extremely influential period when one either stands out as a dominant leader,
or falls in line as a follower. Though The Crucible and Conversion are based over three hundred
years apart, both focus on similar motifs regarding female adolescence including rebellious lust, and
the desire for attention and one s individual identity. The theme of rebellious lust is prevalent in
both The Crucible and Conversion through the forbidden relationships of Abigail Williams and

The Klux Klan And The Klan
Throughout the 1920 s the Ku Klux Klan or KKK were a very powerful and influential group of
white protestant men in the United States. This powerful group advocated white supremacy,
racism, anti Catholicism, and nativism just to name a few things. Many of the KKK members, as
well as their followers disagreed with abolishing slavery and believed that immigrants,
homosexuals, and southern Republicans along with many others threatened American values. The
Klan hit its peak during the mid 1920s with millions of members across the country (Wormser,
2002). The groups popularity came from their violent reputations, as well as the print and media
coverage they received throughout the years. This soon allowed the Klan to have a powerful
political influence at both the state and local level. Although the media and newspapers were
important elements in helping the Klan grow it was a double sided blade, and soon was a leading
cause in the group s demise.
The Ku Klux Klan has been classified as one of the first hate groups in the United States. This
was due to their excessive amount of violent acts towards any group of people who did not meet
their standards. A few of the goals of this group included; defeating the Republican Party and its
supporters, as well as trying to maintain an absolute white reigned America. The Klan was not

Janice Dickinson Research Paper
Once upon a time, let s call it the 90s, a handful of women ruled the world. They were called
supermodels and you couldn t swivel your head without colliding into an image of one or more of
these bodacious babes. The supermodel industrial complex was some kind of powerful billboards,
magazine covers, cosmetics and fragrance campaigns it seemed like this tight knit clique and their
logo like faces dominated every inch of American and International advertising real estate. They
made millions. While it s undisputed that these girls were successful, there s heated debate
surrounding what constitutes a supermodel. Does Beverly Johnson? What about Janice Dickinson?

The main character which is Rainsford is a big game hunter, Rainsford doesn t care about his
prey. All he wants is to kill and hunt. Now from that point of view, readers can see the little bit of
insanity in Rainsford by all that aggressive hunting stuff that he does. Rainsford was on a yacht
and fell off of it, he ended up swimming to a rocky shore which was called Ship Trap Island.
This island was all about hunting which basically what Rainsford is, a hunter. Before Rainsford
fell from the yacht he was with his friend name Whitney, saw an island which was the Ship Trap
Island, this island was a bad and unlucky place for many thing that happened. As Rainsford and
Whitney were passing the island, Rainsford said, I hold the jaguar guns have come from Prudey
s. We should have some good hunting up the Amazon. Great sport, hunting (Connell, 1).
Throughout the part when Rainsford is on the island he saw the general and his name was
Zaroff. Zaroff was those types of general that always wants to win, Zaroff read Rainsford s
hunting book and told him I ve read your book about hunting snow leopards in Tibet, you see (4).
As for Rainsford all he wants is for him winning the game. The only thing that could make
Rainsford escape is to hunt and try to win, when actually Zaroff wants him to lose. As days passed

Lucretius On Death
One of the most ancient mystery yet unsolved is the question pertaining to death and the afterlife.
This mystery is one of the fundamental studies in both field of philosophy and religion.
Comparing those who believe in a god existing religion against those who don t, we often see
many differences in the answers relating to death. In the contrary, the similar answers to theist and
atheist are evident strongly in two great thinkers and their works. The focus will be on Socrates
speech in the Apology by Platosetting in 399 BCE and De Rerum Natura by Titus Lucretius300
years later. Titus Lucretius, an atheist or agnostic Roman poet and philosopher inspired by the
works of Epicurus. Lucretius believed in the theory of atomism which lead to materialistic thinking
and how atomism affects how one should view the purpose of life especially at the end of one s
life. Lucretius has written his thoughts on death at Book III of De Rerum Natura the translation
used is by Rolfe Humphries which translates the title as The Way Things Are. In The Way Things
Are, Lucretius makes three main arguments; there is no need for the fearof death, the fear itself is
the source of human evil, and the living life is far worse than death. These arguments are towards
the general public of Romans especially those who are religious (both Roman and Greek mythical
and religious influences). Socrates, on the other hand, is quite religious evident in his holy mission
to test the wise ness of others.

Essay about The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein
THE HOBBIT
BY J.R.R. TOLKIEN
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is a story of adventure and danger, and it is a prime example of a
romantic plot and fantasy genre. What makes this story such a great example of a romantic plot?
One, the unlikely hero, Mr. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit that is dragged on an adventure he doesn t
wish to take. Second, there is a great quest with a reward at its end. Third the great teacher figure,
Gandalf is a wizard that helps Bilbo to become the great hero he is destined to be. And lastly the
dragon figure, in this story the dragon figure, happened to be a dragon but there are also many
miniature dragon figures through out the tale.

He failed but you get a glimpse of the hero he is to become.
The quest begins when the group meets at the Green Dragon Inn. From there they venture into
the Lone lands. As heavy rains begin to fall, Bilbo notices that Gandalf is missing. This is
something that is later on considered to be normal because Gandalf comes and goes throughout
the duration of the trip. All through the quest Bilbo ends up saving the party from many
dangerous situations. This is something that at first Bilbo finds hard to believe because he has
very low self esteem. The group always seems to find themselves in worse, and worse problems,
but they always overcome these problems, with the help of Bilbo and some times Gandalf. Some
of these problems include: getting caught by trolls, getting captured by goblins, being attacked by
large wolves called Wargs, one of the dwarves falls into a coma from touching black water in the
Mirkwood Forest, nearly dying of starvation, being captured by large spiders and being captured by
wood elves. Although this is all very good action, the real action begins when the party finally
reaches their destination Lonely Mountain (home of Smaug).
On Lonely Mountain, in order to sneak into Smaug s lair, Bilbo puts on his magic ring, which
turns him invisible. He talks to the dragon for a while and gets the dragon to show him the under
side of his stomach. Bilbo manages to get close enough to see the dragon s weakness, which is a
missing scale in his chest. Smaug gets

Spit Roasting
Sunny summer days are coming to Australia and now is the time to get the barbecue cleaned up
ready to cook up a storm. This year you know you want to move pass the whole throw another
shrimp on the barbie stereotype, so it is time to embrace the spit roasting technique. This low and
slow cooking method produces succulent meats that melt like butter in the mouth. It is not a
difficult cookingtechnique to master, but there are two important steps you must know.
Choose The Right Cut
Whether you decide on beef or lamb for your first attempt at spit roasting, the right cut of meat will
play a big part in your success. Consider these factors when you head to the butcher to choose your
cut of meat.
Beef. When cooking beef slowly you want to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The marinade will make sure you get the melt in your mouth taste sensation you are looking for.
Tips to a great marinade for spit roasting include:
Have an acidic ingredient in the marinade. Balsamic vinegar or lemon juice both contain the acid
levels need to break down muscle in the meat.
Garlic adds flavour to both beef and lamb. As well as having some mince garlic in your
marinade, cut small slits in your meat and poke small, peeled cloves of garlic into each one. Six to
eight cloves spread through the meat will infuse garlic flavour directly into the meat as it cooks.
Baste your meat every 30 minutes. This involves brushing or spooning extra marinade while the
meat cooks. The more you baste, the more tender your meat will be.
Learning how to cook a spit roast is going to take several attempts. Of course, if you are planning
to cater for a family gathering you are better off hiring a spit roast professional and watch their
cooking techniques. This way you lose the pressure of having to get your spit right right the first
time, and get a first hand tutorial on how to get it right yourself in the

Analysis Of The Three Golden Hairs By Parker Fillmore
The Three Golden Hairs by Parker Fillmore, is a Czechoslovak folktale which is about a charcoal
burner s son s fate in marrying a king s daughter leading him to eventually rule. The story
revolves around the king doing everything in order to keep his daughter free from this marriage.
However, in the reading, there is a great deal of emphasis on power. This leads to the conclusion
that power through monarchy s in the culture of Czechoslovakia are a great deal of importance.
Throughout the story, the king steadily tried to control his own power as king. Until, the
obsession of power fell out of his hands and led to a complete downfall. A King who was a hunter

A few days later, the King sent a steward to retrieve the charcoal burners baby and ordered him to
drown the child, or else, he will be drowned himself (para. 15). The steward dropped the baby
into the river and assumed the baby had drowned, yet the basket containing the baby only
floated down the river and into the hands of a fisherman (para. 18). The fisherman said to his
wife, You have always wanted a little son and here you have one. The river has given him to us
(para. 19). The couple felt they had been blessed with the son they had been waiting for. Just
twenty years later, the King found himself in the vicinity of the land and river of the fisherman
and ran into his son, Plavachek, the baby who he thought was once drowned, but was now
grown up (para. 24). The King asks for the fisherman to find him a messenger to bring a letter to
his palace (para. 26). The fisherman immediately offers to have his son assist the King in this
request. The King wrote his wife the letter which read, Have the young man who delivers this
letter run through with a sword at once. He is a dangerous enemy. Let him be dispatched before I
return... (para. 29). With the letter in hand, Plavachek begins his retreat to the palace, gets lost
along the way and meets one of his godmothers who reads and changes the letters message. The
message now read, Have the young man who delivers this letter married to our daughter at once.

The Mechanisms Of Neural Communication
Discuss the mechanisms of neural communication and explain the impact that different drugs can
have on this communication.
Neural Communication
Everything we do is a product of neural communication, whether that be reacting to senses or
feeling emotions, it is all due to us having neural communication through millions of neurons
passing small electrical signals throughout the body through such pathways as the central nervous
system and the peripheral nervous system and passing information to and from the brain. These
neurons are made up of Dendrites which are connected to a cell body, or also known as the soma,
these are tree like feathery filament message receivers that collect these messages from other
neurons it is connected to, neurons are connected through a dendrite to axon terminal connections
and pass these messages through the body as action potentials.
As well as these there are also the axon of the cell which is covered in myelin sheaths which carried
information away from the cell body and hands the action potentials, these are small short bursts of
change in the electrical charge of the axon membrane through openings of ion channels, off to the
following neurons dendrites through terminal buttons at the end of the axons. Whenever an action
potential is passed through these terminal buttons it releases a chemicals that pass on the action
potential on to the next neuron through the terminal button and dendrite connection. The chemicals
that are

Symptoms Of Disorder, By John Warns
One of the most obvious, yet in the nineteenth century completely unrecognised and
undiagnosed, reasons behind symptoms of supposed insanity would be post natal depression.
Gilmans narrator suffers from just this as she exclaims: Such a dear baby! And yet I CANNOT
be with him, it makes me so nervous , conveying a certain disconnection with her son. The
narrator feels her husband fails to understand her perspective: she is the complete opposite of her
public sphere husband who is practical in the extreme... and he scoffs openly at any talk of things
not to be felt and seen and put down in figures . She yearns for a life which she believes this
domestic role has stolen from her: Gilman s narrator longs to write but John warns that with... Show

The intersection of confinement and gender is shown in the passage where the narrator says and
she is all the time trying to crawl through. But nobody could climb through that pattern it strangles
so; I think that is why it has so many heads. , the narrator sometimes sees many, many women
imprisoned by the pattern. The pattern she sees on the wallpaper is a microcosm of society in
which she, along with all women, is supressed of any desires other than those seen as etiquette.
The narrator comes to an epic epiphany in TYW as she becomes empowered by confidence and
self belief, which she desperately lacks throughout the story. When she says I ve got out at last ,
it is arguable that this sudden confidence was sprouted from her challenge with her self identity,
leading her to mental degradation. The mental degradation is ambiguous however; it could be
argued that this is only a stage of imaginative and possibly even physical freedom that the
character is experiencing. Without this effect of insanity the change in status between John and
the narrator would not have been possible because she would remain as subdued as she ever was.
There is a similar revelation in ADH with Nora seemingly breaking away from Torvald s restraints
however, this time with a lack of mental illness. Nora s realisation involves more of a conscious
decision in the sense that her mind was not obscured by any mental illness; she finally

  • 3. Ancient Greek Forms Of Government Ancient Greece experienced many forms of government during its lifespan. The different cities, that composed Ancient Greece, experienced with these forms of governments one after another. Or sometimes neighbored cities would be ruled differently, by one man or a group of men. Some of the popular forms of ruling were a monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy and a more widely known form, democracy. Ancient Greeks proved to us how effective and how long these forms of ruling were able to last before falling apart. Let s look at each one of them and see how different they are form each other and what makes them similar. A monarchy is a political system where power is held by someone called a monarch. Wilde adds: Monarchs usually both hold and achieve their position through the right of hereditary succession (e.g. they were related, usually the son or daughter, of the previous monarch) (Wilde, April 2017). Although monarchies might have been popular in different parts of the world, it wasn t the case in Ancient Greeceas Cartwright pointed that out (March, 2013). There were only two states who qualified as monarchies in Greek. These states were Macedonia and Epeiros, but the monarch shared the power he had with an assembly (Cartwright, March 2017). One political system that showed some similarities to a monarchy is an aristocracy. This form of government is when the best (in ancient Greece s case, aristocrats) rules (Brouwers, June 2015). Essay on he Meiji Restoration in Japan In 1868, The Meiji Restoration in Japan begins as the Emperor Meiji oversees an era of rapid modernization, creates a conscript army, and abolishes the samurai class ranking which has defined order in Japan since the 1600 s. Education is reformed, a constitution is created; a parliament established. Victory in wars with Russia and China will begin the dominant period of Japanese nationalism and influence leading to World War II. Japan in modern times is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. They hoped to adapt western ideas while retaining the values of the East. Government stability was crucial to this objective. In 1873 a new tax system provided a secure revenue base and abolished the feudal land system. In 1877 the conscript army defeated a major samurai revolt led by Saigo Takamori, a leading figure in the imperial restoration. Inflation reduced the value of government revenues, and between 1881 and 1885 a rigorous deflation policy initiated by Matsasukata Masayoshi stabilized the currency. The incredible speed of adaptation shown by the change in systems allowed the Restoration to go smoother and faster, it gave the people incentives to work towards a greater Japan, especially when all classes were equal. The young Meiji government worked hard to balance production for domestic use as well as for export. Protection for native industries was a prime consideration, but the new internationalists understood the necessity for an accelerated industrial revolution in Japan. They were quick to adopt western methods in heavy industries and in the processing of textiles. The foundations for some of the great fortunes of Japan were laid in the early Meiji period, when the government, after nationalising and developing such industries as shipbuilding, mining, railroads, electricity and silk ... • 5. Epic Of Gilgamesh Analysis In the Epic of Gilgamesh , it is easy to conclude that Gilgamesh, the protagonist of the story, is the hero. In Like Mayflies in a Stream , Gilgamesh is merely a scary person who appears in the story here or there rather than being the protagonist. Instead, Shamhat is the main person that the story focuses on, but the book is imprecise on one heroof the entire story. There are numerous characters that could reflect hero aspects such as going on a quest, having another to help guide them, or facing trials. Personally, I believe that there is no true hero in this story due to the nature that Shamhat is a woman, who were represented badly during this time, and that Shauna Roberts did not want to misrepresent the epic due to extreme... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This singular word, only , immediately tells us as a reader that they are looked down upon, are not as good as men, and are not as important to society. Along with this, many people call Shamhat a whore when her pregnant stomach begins to show. Women, and girls for that matter, as Nameshda was only 13, were raped by Gilgamesh. Shamhat is the older sister in her family, yet her younger brother Geshtu gets to make all of the decisions for the family. The scenarios in this book are contemplative of how women are viewed and treated compared to the men of society. Patriarchy is correct by their standards, and having women in any sort of important role is almost nonexistent. Due to this condescending view, we can understand why it would be difficult to have Shamhat as the hero in this story. If men are the superior ones, wouldn t it make sense to have a man as the hero? In the event that a woman was a hero in this story, it may make readers predict that the entire society will change their outlook on women by the end of the story. On the other hand, others may think that Roberts was trying too hard to modernize this epic. With this issue, Roberts could fear that creating this story with a female hero may be too contemporary and take away from the true epic. She already modernized the book somewhat by adding in a love triangle and happily ever after ending. Adding a female hero may just completely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, the elimination of France from Canada also created new conflict between French citizens and Americans, who now on British s side. Therefore, as a great empire, Britain became suspicious of all its European neighbors. This fear was justified after France, which recently got eliminated from Canada, determined on humbling Britain to satisfy its pride and to restore its economy in Europe. Thus, this triggered Britain to start economic competition with France in Europe. By being able to see cases where false memories had the potential to ruin lives, and harm individuals, it brings more awareness to the severity of the problem at hand. After looking at these individual cases, it was a helpful transition into learning about the study Loftus and her team were creating to test this hypothesis. The study that she created went hand in hand with the idea that false memories are formed most likely when another individual confirms them. For a certain part of this study, her team claimed to the participants that a relative had confirmed each of the memories placed in front of them, including the false memory. When an individual feels as though someone close to them has a memory of something, they tend to see it as real for themselves. That sense of validation is enough for a false memory to become a reality when sitting in a study. I also believe that the way she interviewed the college students had an impact on her results. Many of the students claimed they did not recognize the false memory during the first interview, but recalled it during the second. By having a second interview, they were exposed to the same memory twice. Sometimes all it takes is having a small recent memory of something, to make it seem as though you ve known it for a long time. I believe hearing about the false memory in the first interview, was what made it possible for students to recognize it the second time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Acid-Base Titration Lab Report Mariam SyMay 8, 2014 Acid Base Titration Lab Write up Introduction: Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration. Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of a solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has an unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard solution. Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is added to an acid until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be equal. In other words, the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The following equation can be used to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution: (Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the unknown solution. The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point and the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that it is neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the solution is acidic or pink which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When it comes to the issue of education, many people from educators to students to parents to administrators to politicians have different ideas as to what makes for the best education. According to Samantha Moore, in her evaluation essay titled There s no place like home, she argues that homeschooling provides a better educational experience for students over the public schoolsystem. Specifically she states that evaluating homeschooling through aesthetic, moral, and practical criteria favors homeschooling over public school (Moore, 2017, p. 2). In other words, she expresses that homeschooling is better morally, is cheaper and more convenient, and is safer. While I agree that for some students faced with certain situations, homeschooling is the better option, I disagree with Moore s overall claim that homeschooling is the best option for students over public education. By examining the examples from her evaluation essay in a different way, it will become clear that the American public school system is actually the best option when it comes to students education. Unlike the historical fiction genre in which he s written such best sellers as Gates of Fire, The Afghan Campaign, and The Profession, The Warrior Ethos is the culmination of years of discussions Pressfield s been having with Marines and others who were taken with the blend of courage under fire and humanity shown by Leonidas, Dienekes, Matthais, Gent, and the other characters in his books. I wanted to give something back to our men and women fighting overseas, Pressfield told Gazette, so I put together the best anecdotes and stories from all my research about the Spartans, Alexander s Macedonians, the Romans, and Rommel. But as Philip of Macedon, Alexander the Great, Xerxes, and others marched into history as they fought their way across the Mediterranean and Central Asia, civilization was spread as conquerors and conquered traded goods, took wives, and exchanged ideas. This sort of intermingling led to the Indian warrior epic Bhagavad Gita expanding the warrior ethos to a loftier plane from the war against one s neighbor to an internal struggle to reach one s better nature as Arunja, the Gita s hero, battles against enemies whose names can be translated as greed, sloth, and selfishness all moral weaknesses that must be overcome. It s that need to test oneself against both physical and moral adversity, coupled with the blunt Spartan courage in the face of overwhelming odds, Pressfield believes, that gives us the warrior ethos of today. But despite the military component of society being increasingly marginalized in the West, young men and women still flock to recruiting stations to challenge themselves and see how well they perform under adverse conditions. Pressfield writes each of us struggles every day to define and defend our sense of purpose and integrity, to justify our existence...to understand, if only within our own hearts, who we are and what we believe in. This struggle might be Fallujah for a chosen few, or working the night shift for others. The Warrior Ethos does not provide a definitive answer as to what makes someone a warrior, ... This mystery is one of the fundamental studies in both field of philosophy and religion. Comparing those who believe in a god existing religion against those who don t, we often see many differences in the answers relating to death. In the contrary, the similar answers to theist and atheist are evident strongly in two great thinkers and their works. The focus will be on Socrates speech in the Apology by Platosetting in 399 BCE and De Rerum Natura by Titus Lucretius300 years later. Titus Lucretius, an atheist or agnostic Roman poet and philosopher inspired by the works of Epicurus. Lucretius believed in the theory of atomism which lead to materialistic thinking and how atomism affects how one should view the purpose of life especially at the end of one s life. Lucretius has written his thoughts on death at Book III of De Rerum Natura the translation used is by Rolfe Humphries which translates the title as The Way Things Are. In The Way Things Are, Lucretius makes three main arguments; there is no need for the fearof death, the fear itself is the source of human evil, and the living life is far worse than death. These arguments are towards the general public of Romans especially those who are religious (both Roman and Greek mythical and religious influences). Socrates, on the other hand, is quite religious evident in his holy mission to test the wise ness of others. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Mechanisms Of Neural Communication Discuss the mechanisms of neural communication and explain the impact that different drugs can have on this communication. Neural Communication Everything we do is a product of neural communication, whether that be reacting to senses or feeling emotions, it is all due to us having neural communication through millions of neurons passing small electrical signals throughout the body through such pathways as the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system and passing information to and from the brain. These neurons are made up of Dendrites which are connected to a cell body, or also known as the soma, these are tree like feathery filament message receivers that collect these messages from other neurons it is connected to, neurons are connected through a dendrite to axon terminal connections and pass these messages through the body as action potentials. As well as these there are also the axon of the cell which is covered in myelin sheaths which carried information away from the cell body and hands the action potentials, these are small short bursts of change in the electrical charge of the axon membrane through openings of ion channels, off to the following neurons dendrites through terminal buttons at the end of the axons. Whenever an action potential is passed through these terminal buttons it releases a chemicals that pass on the action potential on to the next neuron through the terminal button and dendrite connection. • 50. Symptoms Of Disorder, By John Warns One of the most obvious, yet in the nineteenth century completely unrecognised and undiagnosed, reasons behind symptoms of supposed insanity would be post natal depression. Gilmans narrator suffers from just this as she exclaims: Such a dear baby! And yet I CANNOT be with him, it makes me so nervous , conveying a certain disconnection with her son. The narrator feels her husband fails to understand her perspective: she is the complete opposite of her public sphere husband who is practical in the extreme... and he scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures . She yearns for a life which she believes this domestic role has stolen from her: Gilman s narrator longs to write but John warns that with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The intersection of confinement and gender is shown in the passage where the narrator says and she is all the time trying to crawl through. But nobody could climb through that pattern it strangles so; I think that is why it has so many heads. , the narrator sometimes sees many, many women imprisoned by the pattern. The pattern she sees on the wallpaper is a microcosm of society in which she, along with all women, is supressed of any desires other than those seen as etiquette. The narrator comes to an epic epiphany in TYW as she becomes empowered by confidence and self belief, which she desperately lacks throughout the story. When she says I ve got out at last , it is arguable that this sudden confidence was sprouted from her challenge with her self identity, leading her to mental degradation. The mental degradation is ambiguous however; it could be argued that this is only a stage of imaginative and possibly even physical freedom that the character is experiencing. Without this effect of insanity the change in status between John and the narrator would not have been possible because she would remain as subdued as she ever was. There is a similar revelation in ADH with Nora seemingly breaking away from Torvald s restraints however, this time with a lack of mental illness. Nora s realisation involves more of a conscious decision in the sense that her mind was not obscured by any mental illness; she finally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
