2. Exploring The Role Of Perseus In Homer s Odyssey
Head: Perseus throughout the movie has a grievance towards the gods, and wishes
not to use anything they give to him, even if it is helpful in his journey to slay
Kraken and kill Hades. Perseus also thought the gods cannot help and refuses to be
anything but a man. Perseus additionally denies involvement with Zeus, and even
goes as far to deny the opportunity to have a spot in Olympus, and become an
immortal god. Perseuss reasoning for this was to not be dependent on the gods, or
to be like his father Zeus. Perseus stuck by this belief, even when he knew doing so
would cost some of his men s lives, but he eventually lets his grudge go once
Acrisius attacked Io.
Eyes: Perseus s hate for the gods was sparked by witnessing the death of his whole
family, a direct result of Hades attack on the soldiers who destroyed Zeus statue.
Through this, Perseus joined the fight against the Gods to get revenge on Hades
and save Argos from the Kraken. Not only did Perseus witnessing his parents drive
him to join Argos s effort at taking down the Gods, it also taught him to be proud as
a man, and not have pride in godly blood. This lesson helped and harmed Perseus
during his journey by giving him determination to stop the Gods as a man, but his ...

This statement from his father gave Perseus the belief that the Gods have been
worshiped by humanity for too long, and it is finally time for humans to take a stand
against them. This belief stuck with Perseus throughout his journey and fueled his
hatred towards the gods. Hence, Perseus tried his hardest to not embrace his
godliness, and took pride in being mortal, to the point where Perseus even denies
being immortal. Through this, Perseus joined the Argonian army to not only kill the
Kraken, but to also attempt to take Hades
3. First Transit Job Analysis
I thought that I had found the job of my dreams, and possibly my career. A job
where everything was perfect and I progressed quickly, but an unexpected turn of
events quickly proved me wrong. I went from having an awesome office job to
being unemployed; however, having to find a new start proved to be more
beneficial than I expected. My first job at First Transit was everything I wanted
and more. For starters, it was located in my home town of Church Point, and the
pay was above average for the area. The ideal nine to five schedule was also a plus.
As a customer service representative I was doing what I loved, helping people. I
quickly moved up to a supervisor position which enabled me to travel. I visited the
different regions of Louisiana with covered expenses that included: hotel, food,
and travel. To my surprise an unexpected turn of events was about to take place.
First Transit, the job of my dreams, abruptly came to an end. I did not know that
the company I worked for was actually contracted through The Department of
Health and Hospitals. At the time of renewal First Transit lost their bid for a new
contract, as a result, my coworkers and I were left unemployed. I was unemployed
for about six months before I found work, and that was a very depressing time for
me. I felt as though I had failed;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4. What Is A Flashbulb Memory Accurate
Memory: Flashbulb Memories
A flashbulb memory are memories that are detailed and vivid experiences stored in
our minds, and retained for a lifetime. We tend to remember exactly where we was,
what we was doing, who we were with, and what day and time the event occurred. We
have these flashbulb memories of emotionally stirring events, because it began when
one person started to tell their remembrance of a certain event that happened, then
that person started retelling another person in their own perspectives, and eventually
it being retold over and over again. Flashbulb memories are not as accurate as they
seem when they become embedded into our brains after learning of traumatic events
happening around the world. Flashbulb memories are not necessarily 100% accurate,
the accuracy reduces during the first three months and levels at about twelve months
(Flashbulb Memory, n.d.). Flashbulb memories demonstrates the emotional content of

mind after hearing her say that was this was another 9/11 attack, and the United
States was in trouble. From there my mind, and the minds of other around me

him he would come and get me and my younger siblings from school. After hearing
him say that, I began to wonder things on the lines of how far was the bombing

what caused for this bombing to happen. We knew that we was far from the
bombing, but for us to hear a state has been bombed our minds made us
5. Joseph Kosuth s Argument That Conceptual Art
This essay shall explore Joseph Kosuth s argument that Conceptual Art requires art to
shift from morphology to function; and therefore will investigate the meaning of this
argument and how it has affected artistic practice. It will explain the importance of
how this argument has changed the way the audience think about art. Subsequently it
will outline several points of his argument and then expand and explore them in more
depth. To define the artistic terminology used above, the term morphology is used to
describe how a piece is constructed along with its overall aesthetics; whereas function
is used to describe what is being said by the piece and the concept behind it.
Conceptual Artemerged from abstraction and minimalism; it marked the end of
modernism and questioned what constitutes art, having its own values separate from
the rest of the world. A key source that will be referred to throughout this essay and
which is regularly used for researching Kosuth s argument is his 1969 text Art after
Philosophy .
Kosuth argues Conceptual Art requires art to shift from Morphology to Function. In
other words he states that the form of the work is secondary in importance to the
context and reason for its creation; therefore promoting a separation between art
history and aesthetics. Therefore all elements which are secondary to function should
be removed and that the function of art is solely to address and question art. He
continues on to argue that the artists idea or
6. The Incredibles Film Analysis
The Incredibles starts with a TV montage which presents some of the period s big
heroes such as Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson), Elastigirl (Holly
Hunter), and Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson). All of them explain how they cope with
their lives as superheros, admitting that they feel like [a] maid [who] just cleaned up
[the] mess (Bird 2004, 01:33). They differentiate from the rest of society by means
of their special abilities; they are unique. However, 15 years later, the government
initiates a Superhero Relocation Program , under which superheroes were granted
amnesty from past actions under the promise to never again resume hero work in
order to become average people (11:13). Therefore, the movie portrays a shift in the
attitude of society towards superheroes as a result of their increasingly negative
reputation This event is connected to American Exceptionalism in terms that
whenever American leaders refer to the unique responsibilities of the United States,
they are saying that it is different from other powers and that these differences require

Nevertheless, each country is unique in his own way but by using the phrase

the Parr family; for instance, Dash mentions that [their] powers made [them] special .
However, his mother, Helen, (Elastigirl) asserts that everyone s special (15:31). She
initially positions himself against the belief that superheroes are exceptional and
therefore, she challenges American Exceptionalism. We can relate this to politicians
in our contemporary area, in particular Barack
7. Satire In Gangnam Style
Gangnam is the financial district in the capital of Korea, Seoul. Gangnam
residents are infamous in Korea for being philistine with property well above ten
grand per square meter. This notion of Gangnam Style was less popular before
PSY s hit song, but it was formed to describe the materialistic nature and pride that
Gangnam residents had in their monetary class. PSY, once less known, is one of
the only K Pop artists who writes and choreographs for his own music. This
freedom to produce his own work allows him to add hidden messages that most
people do not pick up. PSY s fascination with satire is arguably from his American
education and exposure to American artist s fondness in incorporating social
commentary in their own music. To many people, Gangnam Style is just a crazy
video created by some sexually frustrated middle aged man, but I argue that Gangnam

day South... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is truly ironic when trying to match his words with his actions, because they do
not match up. Though he repeatedly sings that he is lives a lavish Gangnam style
life, reality is he s far from it. In the first verse, PSY sings that he is looking for a
classy lady who can afford a relaxing cup of coffee and he s a guy who one shots
his coffee before it even cools down. The idea is ridiculous that anyone would even
want to down a boiling cup, but these lyrics are referring to how obsessed Koreans
are with western culture that Starbucks Coffee is a delicacy many cannot afford.
Thus, for a man to drink his expresso in one shot, he is boasting about his wealth. It
only goes to show how ridiculous people have become in a more and more
materialistic

nutrition in the United States. Physicians from the hospital created a volunteer
health clinic to treat some of the poorer areas of Memphis. They made a major
discovery. They found that a majority of the members in the community were
malnourished. The director of the hospital decided that this was a major
catastrophic disease and took action to create a research study. A news station
decided to do a report on the program that happened to catch the attention of a
senator. The senator then helped to create the Child Nutrition Act with the help of
St Jude which led to the creation of the WIC program. WIC serves 53 percent of the
infants born in the US (St. Jude Children Research Hospital). In the 1980s a new
disease was striking children and the

Purpose The purpose is to inform the reader on the steps that it takes to starting up a
vehicle Exporting business to Panama. The steps are as follow:
Buying good and fairly new cars in America for cheap.
Having the car shipped to Panama and having them cleared through Customs and
immigration.
Selling the vehicles and making a profit.
Getting vehicles and car parts.
In order for my business to be successful and profitable, I need to find vehicles in
America for as cheap I possibly. There are three methods of finding the best priced
vehicles America. The first way is attending car auctions. Car auctions usually
have the least inexpensive vehicles because most of the time the cars have been in
accidents or there is a possibility that there s something wrong with the engine. It is
okay if the vehicles have some of these malfunctions as long as the price is
appropriate. It is okay for those cars to have these problems if they are easy and
inexpensive to fix. The ideal scenario is to buy any kind of vehicle from the auction
with 1000 dollars or less because you must add the cost of fixing the vehicles to your
expenses. I Jacksonville there is usually one car auction every week at 11982 New

12. Analysis Of Scarlet By Marissa Meyer
There are many diverse reasons people set out on a mission or goal, some do it for
fame and glory, some do it for their family or friends, and some set goals to better
the world. Scarlet Benoit, from Scarlet, sought out to find her kidnapped
grandmother. In the King of Mazy May, Walt Masters wanted to warn Loren Hall
that his claim was going to get jumped. Farah Ahmedi, from The Other Side of the
Sky, undertook the mission to escape Afghanistan with a prosthetic leg and her
mother. However, as diverse as these goals and characters are, all three had someone
helping them or was helping another.
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer is a story about a young girl named Scarlet Benoit setting
out on a treacherous journey to Paris to save her grandmother with the help of a man
named Wolf. I ll help you. (Meyer, page 134) Wolf, a man she met at a dinner,
helped Scarlet throughout her journey. On the train to Paris, where Scarlet s
grandmother is said to be, someone got infected with The Plague. As the author
says, Are we jumping? [Scarlet] Yes. [Wolf] (Meyer, page 181). If Wolf hadn t told

there are many who are affected by dementia, revealing the importance of this subject.

Decline in episodic memory can affect one s ability to answer questions due to failure
of remembering events. Although this is essential information to obtain, there is
insufficient data to acknowledge the interrelationship between family and the person
with dementia. Concentrating on how each party behaves and communicates with
one another can highlight what is and is not effective for a successful interaction. In
more recent research, there has been a gradual shift due the variations of how
dementia affects people. This shift has given researchers the opportunity to look at
how dementia affects not only the person, but also how it affects the relationship with
family (McEvoy Plant, 2014). This is one way to help families understand what
causes certain behaviors from their loved ones to be triggered. However, studying the
person with dementia along with family dynamics can result in too much variation
from both dimensions to compare (Quinn, Clare, Woods,
14. The Rights Opportunity Commission ( Eeoc )
Throughout History, the idea of equal opportunities and rights had and still is a
major issue amongst the people of the nation. Equal opportunities is defined as the
treatment of others equally without the discrimination of their sex, race or age.
Actions have been made to help prevent this from ever happening. In 1964,
Congress passed Public Law 88 352 (78 Stat. 241). This civil rights act forbade
discriminationbased on sex and race in hiring, promoting, and firing. ... Title VII of the
act created the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission(EEOC) to implement
the law. Morris Dees acted upon this and as a lawyer for civil rights he helped
prove that due to physical and social differences, you still have an opportunity to
prove and have a say in the world. The want of equal opportunities by morris dees
and the people, helped trigger the creation of the SPLC. The SPLC and the ideas that
Morris Dees conveyed to the people created an opportunity of equality.
Background on Law s before Morris Dees Actions:
In the 1960s, Americans who knew the equal protection of the laws expected the
Congress, and the courts to achieve the promise of the 14th Amendment. The
amendment states the rights and equal protection of the laws created. All three
branches of the government and the public debated a constitutional question: Does
the Constitution s restriction of denying equal protection always ban the use of racial,
ethnic, or gender criteria in an attempt to bring social
15. Parenting Is The Process Of Providing Cares For A Child...
Parenting is the process of providing cares for a child from birth to adulthood. This
act can be explained by several perspectives. One of the sociological views asserts
that we do care taking because it is constructed as altruistic in our society that we all
want to provide help to others in order to feel better or to make the world a better
place. Furthermore, providing emotional and physical support for familymembers,
children in this case, helps them to be socialized. Also, it provides children a social
identity as someone s daughter or son. On the other hand, some argue that we share
same understanding or philosophies with our intimates, children, through parenting to
feel the unity since the family is the fundamental unit of society.
People easily assumes that parenting has to do with a heterosexual couple as an ideal
set up. Thus, it is normalized and socially constructed that parenting has separated
roles typically by gender: the father is the breadwinner, and the mother is the caregiver
and homemaker. Even though people these days view this idea differently than
before, there are still some remaining norms about parenting. For instance, Wall and
Arnold (2007) mention that people still tend to think that mothering can only
establish a warm and delicate care, and only mothers or stay at home fathers can
provide this support (p. 520). We tend to believe that fatherhood has to be with
breadwinning activities and somewhat rough and tumble caring. If fathers become

beauty, but for its history as well. Travelers and tourists have been visiting Colorado
since before the 19th century. However, during the 19th century, the development of
Colorado boomed greatly because of its iconic people and the fact that so many
travelers and tourists enjoyed seeing Colorado. The people contributed to making
Colorado history more appealing to tourists so the state really emerged. Tourismhas

state as well as out of state. National parks and monuments started to join the

started to bring in tourists the second it became available in 1920. Roads like the
Fall River Road opened which allowed tourists to access the park and the top of the
Continental Divide. It was estimated that 28,000 automobile passengers visited the
park from out of state in 1920 (Abbott, Leonard, Noel, 2013, pp. 235). In 1892, the
first automobile was spotted in Colorado. This first sighting opened the doors for
entrepreneurs to build off of this idea and cars started to become manufactured in
1904. Coloradoans began traveling by car (Abbott, Leonard, Noel, 2013, pp. 236).
The advancement of the automobile expanded the idea of highways and roads. This
was such a major development in Colorado. These major developments allowed
easier access to and from tourist attractions in Colorado. Colorado was booming with
advancements left and right, and the nature of tourism continued to expand.
Automobiles were not the only means of getting access to the spectacular sights of
Colorado. Before automobiles were invented, people relied on railroads to get them
to and from the attractions of Colorado. The desire to travel to Colorado

A Child s Purity: Further from Death, but Closer to Heaven.
Throughout the recorded history of the Christian religion, countless writings, both
canonical and non canonical, have been discovered and translated. As is the issue
with most religious texts, scholars fiercely engage each other s interpretations and
opinions regarding these texts. The Gospel of Thomas is no different. Considered
Gnostic by some and canon by others, the Gospel of Thomas is a collection of
sayings that were spoken by the living Jesus, and recorded by Didymos Judas Thomas.
Throughout the length of the text, there are a number of common themes; the most

Satiating the lust of the flesh is frowned heavily upon in most religions. Because
Adam and Eve gave into this temptation, all humans are born with some semblance
of the original sin. However, the blank slate nature of a child is as close to perfect
as one can hope to be. Many of Jesus s sayings in the Gospel of Thomas suggest
that children, babies in particular, have everything they need to be almost perfect;
for they are born with that of the light of the Father, and therefore hold some
divinity (Litwa, 2015). Jesus tells his disciples that circumcision is not useful, for
if it was, the Father would have made babies circumcised. Jesus says
congratulations to the poor and the meek, for the Heaven s Kingdom shall belong
to them. A child a baby is nothing if it is not poor and meek. A child has done
nothing, earned nothing, and truly cannot be anything other than poor, and meek. It
is with age, and sin, that a child loses their sight of the path to Heaven. At several
points in the text, Jesus talks about the intrinsic war between father and son, and
the necessary hatred for one s parents. It is entirely possible that Jesus could be
describing the struggle that a good child faces in attempting to separate themselves
from their parents, who have become old and deep in sin. Jesus speaks of an
anecdote about a slave being unable to sever two masters, for he would be

The tune was hot and enthusiastic and shown dialogue without using any words.
The ensemble played this piece by Cassia Lee supplied the drawn out conversation
that sounded like twirling and dancing in the moonlight with the solo as well as
steadiness. This tune reminded me of My Heart Will Go On in that a story is told
of the instrumental nature of it, just as much as when the lyrics are being sung by
Celine Dion. I found listening to this tune a rewarding experience, and it turned out
to be a wonderful start to the jazz concert in that it was not unfamiliar to the crowd.
Waltz for Debby got me question why someone would write this kind of old and
whom Debby was sounding tune for someone he or she loved. It s really difficult for
me to advocate this song to anybody, for I lacked the depth of the other tunes through
the entire evening and believed it was boring. Ancient Memories was a piece that is
wonderful. The tune was enjoyment and I loved listening to the changes over and
over again, although the tune had lots of repetition. The Jazz Ensemble concert at
Tarleton was an enjoyable evening full of intellectually exciting encounters of music
and excellent music that I wouldn t have listened to if not for this duty.
Diversification is an important lesson to learn when seeing music because all music
has roots from a different music genre and understanding this makes you more
diversified as somebody.

22. The Anxiety Of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder is a disorder that I struggle with personally. It is
when a person has a tense feeling of stress, and anxiety for long periods of time
without any real cause of it. Even though everyone has fears, and has stress from time
to time it isn t harmful unless the anxiety and stress is keeping someone from living
their life, and relaxing. Generalized AnxietyDisorder is different from other anxiety
disordersbecause panic attacks rarely occur, and instead an overpowering sense of
dread is long lasting.
People with GAD, and myself have fears that other people without the disorder
have, except the fears are taken to a new level. For example, I am a person with
GAD who has an extreme fear of flying on airplanes. I will try to avoid flying on
airplanes as much as possible, and even cancel plans or vacations because of my fear.
Over spring break I was supposed to fly to Costa Rica for a study abroad class but
cancelled a few weeks before because of all the stress of having to fly on a plane. For
me, when I m on an airplane I feel that if I don t constantly worry, or repeat certain
phrases then something bad is going to happen.
Other symptoms of GAD are difficulty falling asleep, and staying asleep because of
all of the unexplainable stress, and anxiety. People also may struggle with excessive
stomach problems such as Diarrhea, or Nausea. People with GAD can have muscle
aches, cramps, or muscle tightness, and feel restless all day without relief, or able to
23. Baroque Vs Renaissance Music
Every culture and civilization has been impacted in one way or another by music.
Music is a universal phenomenon that continues to grow and develop still to this
day. There are millions of people who connect to music in some way. Some
individuals simply enjoy listening to music, others enjoy playing it, and there are
some people who look deep into the trends, history, and evolution of music. In this
paper, I chose to do a comparison on the renaissance and baroque period; to analyze
the differences between the renaissance and baroque musically and socially. Both
time periods impacted the development of music and social tendencies in a crucial
way.
The Renaissance was a period in history from the 14th to the 17th century. The term
Renaissance Music refers to the music composed and written during the Renaissance
era. These compositions were a huge impact on music following this time period.
The Renaissance era of music began in 1440 C AD and lasted until 1600 C AD.
Through this period rhythms were buoyant, and medieval counterpoints were further
developed by renaissance composers to create fugues. A fugueis a contrapuntal
composition in which a short melody or phrase is introduced by one part and
successively taken up by others and developed by interweaving the parts. Fugues are
a very popular technique still to this day, and were used more and more through the
Baroque period. The new counterpoint that was introduced based on preference for
consonance, including thirds and
24. Jean Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Development
Throughout history, many people have made important contributions to the school of
psychology. Jean Piaget was one who made a contribution with his theories on the
cognitive development stages. Cognitive development is the process of acquiring
intelligence and increasingly advanced thought and problem solving ability from
infancy to adulthood. Piaget states that the mind of a child develops through set
stages to adulthood (Famous Biographies TV Shows Biography.com). The theory of
cognitive developmenthas made a significant impact throughout the history of
psychology, and is still practiced and learned about today. Jean Piagetwas born on
August 9, 1896 in NeuchГўtel, Switzerland, and died on September 16, 1980 in
Geneva (Famous... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His theory was imperative to understand that early cognitive development involves
processes based upon actions and later progresses into changes in mental
operations (Cherry). Piaget s stages of cognitive development have had an
enormous impact on developmental psychology, as well as education. Albert
Einstein called Piaget s discovery so simple only a genius could have thought of it
(Cherry). The first stage of cognitive development, called the sensorimotor stage, is
characterized by learning to coordinate sensation and perception with motor activity.
Infants begin to understand that there is a relationship between their physical
movements and the results they sense and perceive (Rathus 242). This stage lasts
from birth to approximately age two years old, and is focuses on the infant trying
to make sense of the world (Cherry). The behavior of newborns is mainly reflexive;
they are only capable of responding to their environment and cannot initiate behavior.
However, at about one month of age, infants begin to act with purpose. As they
coordinate vision with touch, for example, they will look at objects they are holding
(Rathus 242). When infants reach three and four months of age they are easily
amused by watching themselves open and close their fists (Rathus 242). Infants begin
to coordinate basic motor activities and sensory experiences to form simple skills and
perceptions. During this period, infants make remarkable discoveries that they are

27. The Roles of Portia and Shylock in The Merchant of
Venice...
Stereotypes for every different religion, ethnicity, culture, and gender exist among
the minds of the human race. These typecasts have ruled this world for as long as
there has been diversity among people. In Shakespeare s comedic tragedy, The
Merchant of Venice, one prejudice is very central to the theme. The play is
dominantly set in Venice, one of the most liberal cities of the Renaissance era. In this
place and time period, anti Semitism is very much in force. The Jewish people are
discriminated against and treated terribly by the Christians living in Venice. Shylock,
a wealthy Jew, is mercilessly spurned many times by men like Antonio, a Venetian
merchant. In contrast to this blind hatred is the longing and lust associated with...

I am a Jew. Hath not a Jew eyes? (III.i.53 58). He is making it clear that Antonio has
committed multiple acts of cruelty against Shylock merely because of his religion.
Shylock goes on to portray that Jews are exactly like Christians except in their
beliefs, and that there is no justified reason for their contempt for Jewish people.
Although he is a usurer, which is considered an undignified position for anyone to
be in, as a Jew, Shylock is the target of a great amount of derision. In Wheeler s
truthful depiction of the play, he states, Above all, [Shylock] is a Jew. In his most
famous speech he asserts the fundamental humanity of his nation, but the Christians
persist in calling him the Jew and the laws of Venice make him an alien. Conversely,
Portia is a well respected Christian woman living in the nearby city of Belmont. As
a Christian, she is not discriminated against because of her religion and she enjoys
many rights and privileges that Shylock and the Jewish people do not. Merely the
fact that she is Christian allows her more freedom than Shylock could ever dream to
achieve. She, not unlike the rest of the Christian people, believe that they have the
right to judge Jews and others that they deem are beneath them. For instance, when
Morocco, a player in Portia s marriage lottery , leaves after picking the wrong casket,
Portia says, A gentle riddance! Draw
28. Holden Caulfield s The Catcher s The Rye
Are 50 s teens able to survive the hurtful but unavoidable transition of becoming a
grown up as they struggle with the changes that come along with it?
JD. Salinger s 1951 book, The Catcher in the Rye, shows us how society treated their
confused and changing teenagers during their transition into adulthood. The book s
main character Holden Caulfield is being pressured into growing up even though he
doesn t feel ready, to lead an adult life. He is still struggling socially and mourning
for his deceased brother whose death turned Holden upside down and into a negative,
hopeless person from a young age, which causes him to be distracted, indifferent and
to flunk every school he goes to.
Therefore, Holden Caulfield seems to be dealing with a world that is forcing him to
change his ways and grow up because of his age while he struggles with his past,
present and future, in this JD Salinger classic.
Thesis Statement Brainstorm:
1 Salinger s main character Holden, is seen to be struggling with his past, present and
future in The Catcher in the Rye.
2 Holden is seen to be having unspecified negative thoughts about growing up
throughout JD Salinger s famous The Catcher in the Rye.
3 JD Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye s main character Holden Caulfield seems to
be dealing with a world that forces him to change his ways because of his age and
what it s expected from him while he is struggling with his past, present and future.

Fire Island remained in the Smith family up until 1900. Prior to 1900 there were

there were only a few buildings that were used during the summer as bars and

Health Act (1964). There are three components to the Canadian health system that
exist today: universal, publicly funded coverage for physician and hospital services
(known as Medicare); goods and services such as home care, long term care, and
prescription drugs which are funded either privately (through insurance or out of

Florida is a state that is very special to me. I have always enjoyed my many visits,
but one trip in particular stands out as my favorite. Ever since I was ten years old,
I have enjoyed SCUBA diving with my family. We have done it many times, and it
is one of my favorite hobbies. In the Summer of 2016, my father and I took an
unforgettable trip centered around it. We drove down to Fort Myersand got aboard a
dive boat headed to the Dry Tortugas, a small island chain to the west of the Keys.
Not only did we enjoy the diving and spearfishing, but we had a great time on the
journey down. We began our journey by spending a night at my grandparents house
in Savannah, Georgia. Their house has always been a constant in my life, seeming
more familiar than some houses I have lived in myself. I enjoyed visiting my family
there as always, and it was great to start off the trip with such a familiar location.
The next day, we headed to Florida. We stopped by my Aunt and Uncle s house in
Ocala, and had dinner with them. It was good to see more of my family, and share
a good meal with them. That night, we drove from Ocala to Orlando, where we
would spend the night. When it was finally time to sleep, I was kept awake by my
father s incredibly loud snoring in the other room. I finally fell asleep around
midnight, only to be woken up by an alarm at two in the morning. There was much

High Blood Pressure is a disease that is called the silent killer . It is called this,
because you can have high blood pressure for years without even knowing that you
have it. The only way you can detect if you have it, is if you have yourself tested.
Some of the symptoms are normal everyday things that we have such as headaches,

High blood pressure (HBP) has a significant amount on me and my family because
have of the family has it on both sides. My family has high blood pressure because
we have all the things that cannot be changed, such as heredity, age, sodium

40. Goodness Tainted Thoreau Quote Analysis Essay
There is no odor so bad as that which arises from goodness tainted.? Walden, Henry
David Thoreau
There are two ways that this quotation might be interpreted, one way focuses on a
person s goodness, or lack of, and the other concerns benign or malicious intentions.
The quotation could be interpreted to mean that it is a sadder thing for a good
person to decline into immorality than for a bad person to do something wicked. This
interpretation of the quote can be illustrated by the book The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Dorian Gray enters the story as an enchanting, vivacious, almost cherubic youth,
comparable to the beautiful Greek god Adonis. As the story progresses, Dorian gets
drawn into a habit of hedonism, financial waste, ... Show more content on

It can be understood that the tragedy of The Picture of Dorian Gray is that such a
fair lad as Dorian could stoop so low, and the character of ?Harry?, corrupt as it is, is
a constant and therefore does not invoke as much emotional response from the
audience. On a similar wavelength, the quotation could also be interpreted as
meaning that good intent with bad outcome is more unpleasant, or ?foul?, than
malicious intent altogether. This is like comparing the Hindenburg explosion to a
kamikaze?s crash. During the 1930?s, the Zeppelin industry served as a peaceful
connector between Germany, other western European nations, and the United States.
Though Hugo Eckener, the head of the Zeppelin company, persevered in his vision of
peaceful association, the rise of Nazi dictatorship threatened the business. The
spontaneous combustion of the Hindenburg Zeppelin over New Jersey caused the
American public to voice misgivings about Germany?s intentions for intercontinental
transportation and amplified tensions between European nations, and the zeppelin
business was made to come to an end. Overall, the purpose of Zeppelins was to
establish peace, and it was a fluke of chemistry that malformed their intentions into
something detrimental. In contrast, a kamikaze pilot is one who crashes his or her
plane in order to destruct. By this

Without proper decision making skills, the State of Alaska or the Department of
Corrections may be subject to scrutiny. To ensure proper decisions processing with

used. Discussion Managerial decision tools provide a degree of procedural steps
that increase the speed and accuracy of the result. The State of Alaska training
requires this degree of accuracy in the decision making process (State of Alaska,
2015a). Elements of the tools used by managers incorporate quickly identifiable
needs or directions to meet specific requirements. These requirements are essential
in the Training Needs and the Tools Available to meet the needs. The process
begins with the needs of the State of Alaska, Department of Corrections. Training
Needs The State of Alaska Department of Corrections has specific training needs

42. The Commercialization of Christmas Essay
The Commercialization of Christmas
Over the years, one topic which has sparked an interesting debate among intellectuals,
business men and Christians is whether or not Christmas has enrolled into an over
commercialized holiday. The period at the climax of the year, December 25th, which
we celebrate as Christmas is the time when consumers increase their spending to an
outrageous level and business persons become elated as their shelves become depleted
of the products that assist in our celebrations.
The Oxford Study Dictionary describes the term commercialize as to make
commercial or to alter in order to make profitable . In light of this definition, I
certainly believe that it has become too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those gifts, which we offer as tokens are representative of the gifts, were brought be
the Three Wise Men for Jesus on his day of birth.
Commercialization, however, escalates because the fruits of our own labour do not
make many of the gifts that are traded. It is substantially more convenient to stroll
into any department store or corner shop and purchase a gift which one deems as
appropriate for the occasion. This convenience has allowed the opportunistic business
sharks of the world to exploit such an opportunity and diminish the importance of one
of Christianity s most significant holidays. Commercialization is therefore the
outcome of this exploitation and its increase is becoming more and more evident.
Christmas then suffers as business flourish. The actual reason for this holiday
becomes so immersed under the commercial blanket, that persons not only forget the
true reason behind Christmas but the businessmen structure their entire operations
around the influx in sales during the Christmas period.
The effect this has on the society cannot be ignored. Businesses slash prices in order
to attract their customers and the increase in sales is so high during this period that
profits surpass any of those made during the previous periods of the same year. Over
working becomes the direct effect of this over commercialization. Persons have to
support their families and
43. The Choices Made Effect The Future
After graduating high school, life actually begins. The choices made effect the future,
a big choice to make is whether to go into the military. The military force closest to
civilians is the National Guard. National Guardsmen and women get benefits that
normal civilians don t, but the opposite is also true. Differences between time, money,
and education should be taken into account when deciding a future in the National
Guard. Humans only have so long to live, time wasted is time that cannot be
recaptured, time is a currency that without thriftiness can dwindle into nothing. When
someone joins the National Guard, he/she signs to work for eight years of their life.

Civilians can achieve two Bachelor degrees, if money isn t a problem, in the eight
years National Guard members serve. Since civilians do not hold drills on

is more manageable (National Guard Members Struggle to Keep Civilian Jobs).
Family is less of an issue because civilians are not withheld by a contract to leave
the state by the federal government. All of the factors point that civilians are better
equipped to save time. Civilians might be better in the department of saving time
but money is a different story. During training, National Guard forces are paid as if
they are in active duty (What will I get paid). Once the training is over, the money
declines for reserve members, but stays relatively constant for active members. The
pay is around two hundred to three hundred dollars for reserve members, and one
thousand five hundred dollars to two thousand dollars for active members per drill,
one weekend a month (What will I get paid). The pay of the National Guard might
not be exciting, but the military truly shines in the area of education. At a local
college, such as Brigham Young Universityof Idaho, it would cost around twenty
one thousand dollars for schooling (GI Bill Comparison Tool). However, the National
Guard can pay for all of it if the member drills and

1.The introduction to new plants, animals, and technologies altered the natural
environment of North America by impacting its economy and improving the overall
natural environment of North America. For example, after the native new world
plants such as tobacco, maize, beans, tomatoes, and lowly potato eventually
revolutionized and drastically improved the international economy, in return the Old
World introduced crops and animals to the Americans(New World
). Columbus
supplied the Old World with animals such as cattle, swine, and horses; the horses
made the environment highly mobile and wide ranged traveling through the Old
World. Columbus also brought sugar kane, which flourished and forced the migration
of millions of African slaves to the New World. Unfortunately, during

The altering of the environment affected various groups such as, the native people
and European colonizers. For example, the Old World diseases quickly devastated
the native Americans. The population of the Taino natives in Hispaniola drastically
shrunk from 1 million people to about 200. Furthermore, because of the rapid
spread of germs among the New World people, as many as 90 percent of the
population of the Native Americans vanished. This was so severe that entire cultures
and ancient ways of life were gone forever. Agriculture also changed due to the
emergence of modern agriculture. This was started by 2 Germans, Alexander von
Humboldt, and Justus von Liebig. Alexander von Humboldt was the first to take an
interest in the indigenous people who cracked chunks off the rocky cliffs where birds
perched along the Peruvian coast. This resulted in the creation of a powder, chemist
Justus von Liebig then recognized that it had high nitrogen and phosphorus content.
The high amount of nitrogen and phosphorus content made it a fascinating fertilizer,
it was called guano. This fertilizer became a very important import product,
estimating to about 15 billion dollars worth of export in today s
46. The Parables And The Crucifixion
The Parables and the Crucifixion The Parables in the Bible tell a story, they are
told in a simple way, which attracts the hearers attention. A parable refers to an
implied comparison. Jesus proclaims the Kingdom of God by making comparisons
of the daily life of the people of His time. Jesus used parables during His public
ministry. He gives them a sign and foretaste of what is and will be the Kingdom of
Heaven, as explained, apart from the parables narrated in the Gospels. All acts
performed by Jesusduring His public life have a vision or a parabolic sense because
they try to uncover this hidden kingdom among the people. Jesus speaks of the
Kingdom of God with wisdom and simplicity, and uses parables in which, without
hiding He is saying new things. At the same time, with a different vision, Jesus
invites listeners to be attracted and feel excited about this kingdom. All parables
have a significant meaning for all Christians. Therefore, parables make hearers
analyze and think, and it is for this reasons that at the end of these parables he
always warns: Whoever has ears ought to hear. With that being told, Jesus is saying
that only those with an open heart to conversion and a soul willing to reject sin will
understand and will be able to assimilate these short stories. All these parables seek
to illustrate the reality and the attitude of the people of Israel, whom Jesus spoke to
at that time. They partly reflect the love and sacrifice of God for humanity, and this is
47. Why Did Stalin Invade South Korea
Another factor in why North Korea invaded South Korea was support from Stalin
and Mao. Stalin had already proved that he was interested in North Korea by
helping to set up the Korean Communist Party. He was interested in Korea because
he wanted to maintain a sphere of influence in East Asia. He did not want Korea to
become a staging ground for an invasion of the Soviet Union. Kim Il Sung, the North
Korean leader, had been trained by the Soviet Union and, in the Second World War,
had fought against the Japanese as a guerrilla in Manchuria. With the help of the
Soviets the North Korean Communist party was formed in July 1946. Kim
established authority over prominent figures in the party with the help of the Soviets.

After the Chinese Civil War the USA did not recognise the People s Republic of
China (PRC) because they were communist. Therefore the USA used its veto power
to prevent the PRC from taking their designated seat in the UN Security Council.
After North Korea invaded South Korea, Truman was furious. He got together with
his Secretary of State, Acheson, and they brought the argument to the UN Security
Council. USSR had been boycotting the Security Council since the PRC had been
vetoed from joining by USA. Without Soviet intervention to obstruct deliberations,
the Security Council quickly adopted a resolution that condemned the invasion of
South Korea by the North. It urged a termination of hostilities and the withdrawal of
North Korean forces to the 38th Parallel. A second resolution urged member states of
the UN Security Council to assist South Korea and repel the attack and restore peace.
Although Truman and Acheson supported the ideal of collective security, they really
used the UN Security Council mainly as a vehicle for achieving their own interests.
Securing international peace was a secondary goal. The role of the United Nations
and the Security Council in supporting action in Korea made USA take decisive
action in defending the South. This is because they had international support and
therefore the invasion seemed
48. Effect Of Aa Content On The Swelling Ratio Of Hydrogel
Effect of AA content on the swelling ratio of hydrogel
Fig. 3b shows the effect of AA on the Q value of hydrogel. With increasing
concentration of AA, the Q values of hydrogels increased and then decreased. When
AA amount was more than 7 g, the Q values of hydrogels decreased because when
the concentration of AA was high, the collision probability between monomers would
increase, thus increasing the graft length of sulfonated cellulose, favoring the
formation of a polymeric network at higher Q values of hydrogels. HIGh AA
concentrations would lead to self polymerization and lower swelling ratio. The best
ratio between sulfonated cellulose and monomer was determined as 1:7.
3.5 The effect of KPS on the swelling ratio of hydrogel
Fig. 3c shows the effect of KPS on the Q value of hydrogel. The Q values of the
hydrogels increased, followed by a decrease with increasing amount of KPS. The
maximum Q value was observed at 2% KPS, because polymerization was initiated by
the free radicals generated from KPS under heat. More initiators would produce more
free radicals that can enhance grafting efficiency. Therefore, the hydrogel formation
was enhanced and Q increased. However, too much initiator would produce too many
free radicals, thus increasing the collision probability between free radicals,
eventually terminating the reaction. The generated short graft chains would be
difficult to form a 3D network, decreasing the Q value.

What is Bioterrorism? What are the types of Bioterrorism? What issues or

Bioterrorism different from the United States and that of Guam? These are some
of the things people would think of and wonder when they hear the word
Bioterrorism. It s important to know the different steps or precautions that a
person can look into in order to prevent themselves from being a victim of
Bioterrorism. First things first, Bioterrorism is defined as the intentional release of
toxic biological agents to harm and terrorize civilians, in the name of a political or
other cause. The history of Bioterrorism goes way back. According to the Terrorism
Issues and Homeland Security, there have always been efforts to use germs and
disease as weapons. The reported risk has led the U.S. government to expend
immense resources for bio defense in the early part of the 21st century. According to

Bioterrorism and they are: Anthrax, Salmonella, Glanders, Melioidosis, and Smallpox.
Anthrax is an acute infectious disease caused by the spore forming bacterium Bacillus

antelopes, camels, cattle, goats, sheep, and other herbivores, but can occur in human
if they get in contact with the infected animal. Anthrax spores are a form of bacteria

At the point when the theme of paying school competitors comes up, there are two
lines of reasoning. To start with, a few people trust that these individuals ought to all

to become possibly the most important factor, and a school would have the capacity
to pay an individual playerin light of the income that comes in because of their gifts.
The installment would change contingent upon the nearby market and the
arrangement that every competitor has with the school. In any case, the inquiries

A leader can be appointed because of their charisma, position, and influence. They
are able to complete the assigned task based on their innate abilities. Quiet leaders
however, focus on virtues and values instead of innate abilities. The quiet leader has
influence regardless of their formal position. Servant leadershipand steward
leadership are two Biblical images of leadership. These two leadership styles can
make an impact in the how an educational institution achieves its vision and people
develop. The virtues of quiet leadership: modesty, restraint, tenacity, interdependence
and other centeredness are embraced through servant and steward leadership.
In the Biblical image of a leader as a servant; the servant is led, thus they do not

Stewardship encompasses more than money. A steward leader is dependent on
God who owns all things as stated in Colossians 1 verse 16, ``For by Him all
things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones
or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through Him and for
Him. `` The primary practice of a leader is to steward God`s resources and not to
``subdue it or rule over it`` irresponsibly. According to Van Brummelen (1994), ``
stewards work and care for the world as co regents with Him``. A steward therefore
has to display responsible use of God`s world as an image bearer thereby, exhibiting
a guardian attitude rather than that of an owner. A steward leader has to serve. For
one to be a good steward, they have to be faithful as they allow others to be fruitful
