How Is Shakespeare s Honesty Taken To A Whole New Level
Shakespeare s Honesty Taken To a Whole New Level In relationships from long ago to
relationships today, men may call their wives, girlfriends, or mistresses names such as: angel, baby
or they may compare them to some of nature s pure beauties. William Shakespeare supports in
Sonnet 130 about insane similes most commonly used in relationships, when men compare their
wives, girlfriends, and mistresses to angels, flowers, or any beautiful features of nature. Shakespeare
is only being harshly honest to compare his mistress imperfections to some of the world s most
beautiful perfections. William Shakespeareis considered to be a romantic writer, but he also tries to
remain bluntly honest in his writings. Shakespeare includes in his very first

China s Struggle For Status
Chinese international relations and historian Yong Deng s latest novel, China s Struggle for
Status, analyzes China s rise in power and it s future trajectory according to his research. The
novel was released during what many consider the peak of China s growth, or at least when the
world was witnessing the prosperity of their country, the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The novel strays
away from the status quo of analyzing China s rise, and rather focuses more on the reasons behind
why China would want to become the world s top super power and its motives for control, if any.
The book explores China s fixation with status, and why it appears they try so hard to attain it.
Rather than simply writing about the struggle for power China has been experiencing and
overloading the reader with statistics, Deng took a different approach. He emphasizes the major
part that ideals such as reputation and status play in the political system and how they drive
governments to want to achieve these both, in this case China. Deng explores how China has
adapted its government and political system to successfully coexist with foreign countries,
particularly after the Cold War. The novel focuses on about six areas of concern, including a chapter
discussing international human rights and how China s policy in comparison to them. It goes
without saying that this is a major area of concern for China, as they have been heavily scrutinized
for it, but Deng also mentions the improvements that the Chinese

Freedom In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
Freedom has always been a very important aspect in American culture, it allows people to have the
opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without having any restrictions forced upon us. In
Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron freedom is no longer known as one of the most important
foundation to American culture, like it has been for generations. But now in this futuristic society
depicted by Vonnegut, enforcing the law that makes those who are above normal equal to those
who are normal has become one of the main priorities. In this society, all living people are equal in
every which way. This type of equality is only focused on altering beauty, strength and intelligence
instead of concentrating on the main problems of race, religion, and sex, the true issues we face as a
society. Although many people believe total equality is something that we should all strive for, it is
just a misguided goal that is both dangerous in execution and outcome. To accomplish physical and
mental equality among all Americans, the government forces its citizens to wear handicaps so
everyone can meet this certain standard the government and the United StatesHandicapper General
has set out for them to follow. Kurt Vonnegut illustrates the theme of freedom in Harrison Bergeron

The government has forced equality laws on people s lives, this equality is not achieved but forced
into their lives by the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments of the Constitution. So, anyone who is
more than average in intelligence, beauty, or strength is forced to wear handicaps which make
them be normal. The story depicts society s vain search for absolute equality. Specifically this new
world does not attempt to raise standards for the disabled or handicapped but rather chooses to
implement a more onerous solution to impede

Lysistrata And Aristophara
Although Aristophanes Lysistrata is a form of Old Comedy, which satirizes the life of the polis,
and Thomas Dekker s The Shoemaker s Holiday is a form of English renaissance comedy, both
plays evoke the comic process of role reversals or inversion. Inversion creates humor through the
mixing up of expected hierarchies by placing the lower caste members of society on top. Thus,
role reversals offer short term liberation by reimagining the way of life, which creates the
possibility to mediate polarized interests. For example, in Lysistrata, Aristophanes exploits the
status of women as social outsiders and inverts their role to construct an alternative model to civic
government. In The Shoemaker s Holiday, Simon Eyre, a shoemaker, becomes... Show more content

The carnival experience of women on top, for example, gives women a clearer picture of the
real power to which they are entitled. The power the women of Lysistrata are entitled to is one
of the civic, which is male dominated. Lysistrata announces that she will act as manager of the
public funds and will cease financing military operations on the grounds that the war is
unnecessary: LYSISTRATA: Keeping the money here will starve the war to death.
COUNCILOR: Money and war? Huh? LYSISTRATA: There s a rats nest in this town. Pisander

what s so strange in that? You let us women do the budgeting at home. COUNCILOR: It s not the
same at all! (Aristophanes 488 496). With this new power, the women who had been mute and
confined within the house, propose an alternative model to masculine modes of administering the
civic government. Their alternative model addresses the public issues of war and is based on
principles of domestic economy. Lysistrata is fully conscious of

Women During The Han Dynasty
Women during the Han Dynasty
Lessons for Women is a book of conduct written during the Han Dynasty by Ban Zhao (C. 45 120)
to advise the women of her family on the proper conduct of a wife. Ancient China around this time
was a Confucian state in which the society was control by the belief in order and harmony. The
book contains seven chapters that talks about: humility, husband and wife, respect and caution,
womanly qualifications, wholehearted devotion, implicit obedience, and harmony with younger
brothers and sisters in law. This work of literature reflects on how a proper women was to behave
obediently to the husband, by being devoted and respectful to avoid humility to herself, her parents
and her clan. It gives the readers an idea of the power that men had over women during this time
period and the exceptions for both roles of husband and wife. Lessons of women informs the
readers that women during the Han Dynasty had no control over their own lives and the philosophy
of Confucian had a huge influence on the society s everyday life. Ban Zhao emphasizes the
importance of distinctions between men and women, and their separate natures.
From the time of birth a woman is taught to be a good wife, she learns how to submit herself to her
husband and understands that her sole purpose in life is to serve him. Humility was not
something that a women was to bring to her family. Rituals were held because it was believed there

Tax Reform In America
Taxes are essential for they enable the economy to function more properly. Taxes are useful for
funding programs such as, public transportation, education, and health care services, however,
taxation on goods and other resources can negatively affect individuals whose socioeconomic
status is low. In my opinion, taxation has different effects on different areas of our economy, taxes
do affect American citizens as well as the economic policy by raising or lowering the amount of
income the government receives.
It is evident that a tax reform is necessary. The economic growth has been inactive for quite a few
years now, the workforce association has been down, wages are not moving and the U.S. tax laws
are more and more out of step. I think we need a tax reform because it is hurting American
manufacturing. America has great manufacturing workers and companies. That is why products

the concern of today s tax laws, businesses are encouraged to make less money and instead move

Application of Six Sigma in Supply Chain Management
Application of Six Sigma in Supply Chain Management
Anoop P. S.
Abstract: This paper hypothesises that, whilst Six Sigma as a change and improvement strategy is
delivering significant business benefit to practitioner organisations, it has not been successfully
adapted to deliver similar benefits across supply chains. It demonstrates by reference to the
literature that most published applications of Six Sigma in supply chains are related to the
application of traditional internal Six Sigma methodologies to the internal processes of a supplier
to the Six Sigma Organisation . In this paper, the issues particular to an application of Six Sigma

2.1 Adding Value With SCOR
Developed by the not for profit Supply Chain Council, SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference)
is a model that links process elements, metrics, best practices and features associated with supply
chain execution. It helps to identify and quantify critical opportunities for improvements not only
within the supply chains of a single company but also between multiple trading partners. It
describes a continuum of processes: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return. SCOR works best
with companies that have an enterprise information platform that can carefully track this continuum
through KPIs and scorecards or at least provide the data so that a qualified enterprise platform can
acquire the data, analyze it and surface it to the people who need to see it.
Although rooted in the supply chain realm, SCOR adherents see a role for the methodology as
the gatekeeper identifying the projects most likely to render ROI using SCOR, Lean or Six
Sigma. There is already a natural link between Lean and Six Sigma at the program and project
execution level. Six Sigma has the project tracking and financial accountability elements. Lean
helps surface the rocks that become ideal targets for Six Sigma. The two combined provide a

Abstract Globalization has a major impact on the management of human resources in developing
countries including Kenya. It has led to homogenization and convergence in organization strategies,
structures and processes as well as in consumer choice. With accelerating globalization,
organizations have had to change and new trends have set in even in the management of human

The transmutations of technology and capital, work together to create a new globalized and
interconnected world. (Castell, 1998) A technological revolution involving the creation of
computerized network of communication, transportation and exchange is the presupposition of a
globalized economy, along with the extension of a world capitalist market system that is absorbing
evermore areas of the world and spheres of production , exchange and consumption. The
technological revolution presupposes global computerized networks and the free movement of
goods, information and people across national boundaries. Hence the internet and global computer
networks make globalization possible, by producing a technological infrastructure for the global
economy. Globalization has an effect on employment patterns worldwide. It has contributed to a
great deal of outsourcing which is one of the greatest organizational and industry structure shifts
that changes the way business operates (Drucker, 1998). Globalization is also seen as changing
organizational structures where expenses can move up or down as the business climate dictates
(Garr, 2001). For employees the trend toward outsourcing has been thought to result in a loss of
fixed employment opportunities as a consequence of firms seeking to use cheap labor from
countries like China, Mexico and even Africa. The globalized economies have

The Oversexualization And Objectification Of Women
The Oversexualization and Objectification of Women
On all platforms of media, women and even young girls are oversexualized; thus leading to men
viewing women as no more than breasts, vaginas, legs, or any other body part they prefer. Even in
current television shows, movies, comic books, and advertisements, women are still depicted as
sexual objects, which can damage a woman s confidence. The oversexualization of women s bodies
can degrade a young woman s confidence, and when girls try to boost confidence by dressing or
acting like the women they see in the media, they are reprimanded for it. Girls cannot be blamed for
their sexualization; they are just emulating what they see in the media. On television and in movies,
women are often portrayed as the love interest for the main male character or the succubus that tries
to gain the main character s love through temptation. Most the women depicted in the romances are
white, thin, and busty. Often the attractive female lead has a best friend who is deemed overweight
and never receives any romantic interactions. The only goal the female character has is to gain the
attention of the main character. In other movies and television shows when the female character is
not considered attractive, she must go through a complete makeover before her love interest even
notices her. Once the makeover is complete, the girl s love interest is completely stupefied with her
beauty and instantly falls in love with her. This plot device leads

It was not love at first sight. I ve loved you all along.
Ferdinand Marcos
This term paper is about Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos s love story. Ferdinand Marcos is
commonly known as one of the most corrupt, former, presidents of the Philippines, but He is also
known as the Tiger of Asia. Some people portray him in the negative light, while some portray him
in the positive light. Ferdinand Marcos is hated by many and also loved by many. People who like
Ferdinand Marcos are mostly teens and people who have not experienced Martial Law under

The San Juanico Bridge is known as the longest bridge of the Philippines. It connects the islands,
Sammar and Leyte. It costs $21.9 million and was built for four years. It was a gift given by
Ferdinand Marcos to Imelda. The bridge makes people wonder: how did it last so long? Well
there are many legends to the reason why it has lasted so long. During the building of this bridge,
children were vanishing slowly and it ended the time the bridge finished.

Fuzzy Thinking Analysis
In IT Foundations, I was assigned by Mrs. Baumaster to watch the video Fuzzy Thinking. The
speaker in this video is an Astrophysicist by the name of Neil deGrasse Tyson. In the video,
Fuzzy Thinking he talked about many things like what was wrong with the misspellings of the
word Cat and about his choice between hiring two workers. The video did not seem very
interesting at first but as I watched it, the video got more and more interesting. Tyson is a very
good presenter in the video because he made it interesting and fun to listen to him. All in all, this
video was a great way to get his message out on how people think. I answered 5 questions that
Mrs. Baumaster asked about the video Fuzzy Thinking. Fuzzy Thinking is when people are not
thinking straight. I know this is correct because right after he said fuzzy thinking he told the
audience the definition of it. The misspelling of the word cat is a very complex question. One
misspelling is spelled as XQT and the other is spelled as KAT but they are considered equally as
wrong even though one sounds like cat and the other does not. Tyson s is an astrophysicist which
is similar to being an astronomer. Astrophysicists study the physics of space. I think this is a very
cool job and it would also be very interesting as well as fun. The two job candidates were very
different from one another. The first job candidate had knowledge of the building because they
studied architecture beforehand. They knew the spire is 155ft

Essay on Tibet
Tibet
800 years of political unrest (1244 2005)
The moulding of history for political gain is not something new. It has been going on for centuries,
since the time of the pharaohs to even the plight of the white population under Robert Mugabe.
I shall be highlighting the case of Tibetan suppression under communist China.
Basically Modern Chinese historians and authorities have tried to claim that historically Tibet falls
under Chinese sovereignty and thus should rightfully, and legally be run from Beijing, this is not
true, as I shall be explaining in my report.
The first modern (post 19th century) Chinese and Tibetan hostilities began as a result of British
involvement. In around 1984 China had strong links to Britain, ... Show more content on

Chinese authorities claim that Tibet was thus officially incorporated into the territory of China s
Yuan Dynasty (China White Paper, p3). Yet today none of the other countries once dominated by
the Mongols are oppressed by Beijing. And in reality Tibetans claim that they experienced more
religious freedom, resulting in Buddhism later becoming the official religion of the Mongol Empire.
Finally in the 15th century the native Ming Dynasty overthrew the Mongols. This, Chinese
Historians claim again, is evidence that China inherited control of Tibet from the Mongols, yet
there is no evidence to suggest the Tibet was in anyway controlled by China, and thus wasn t
related to it at all. Further more during this time Tibet and China existed, as completely separate and
fully individual states, although there was communication between the two there is no evidence to
point to the idea that this had any major importance.
The Chinese feel they have another right, although even by looking from their point of view it is
hard to see the reasoning behind it. Simply, they feel that they once again earned the right to
ownership of Tibet, on the grounds that when the Manchu Armies took control of both China and
Tibet, Tibet fell under a much sticker role. This is the simple chronology of it. In 1644, Manchu
armies seized China and established the new Qing Dynasty. Over the

Teton Dam Response Paper
Response Paper 4 The thirst for water has lead individuals and organizations to build dams
across rivers at an alarming rate. During the early 1900s dams were being built so fast it was no
longer big news when a dam was completed. These structures provided controlled irrigation water
and hydroelectric power to the communities not only close to the reservoirs and dams, but also
provided irrigation water and hydroelectric power to communities many miles away from the river.
Negatively blocking the flow of the river has impacted fish ecosystems, increased evaporation of
water, and flooded intricately important landscapes. These negative impacts, it can be argued, affect
the humans living downstream or within the flood plain of the damsite. Dams... Show more content

The dam had been hastily built on a site that should not have a dam or a large body of water.
Engineers and government officials were slow to learn that dams site need to be thoroughly
assessed to be safe. Closer to home, the Teton Dam is an example of how the perceived need to
have water can create dangerous and often deadly consequences. The Teton Dam was built in
southern Idaho s Snake River basin on the Teton River. Extensive studies were conducted at the
site to test for things like water availability and soil structure. The main aim was to provide water
that could be used in times of drought as a buffer. The area was irrigated well using wells;
however, extra water is always welcome in the southern Idaho desert. Many of the short comes
of the site were over looked. Engineers stated that the dam could be built well enough to
overcome the issues in the land. On June 5 the engineers were proved wrong. Throughout the day
leaks that had developed the day before grew larger. By midmorning the dam gave way spilling its
contents into the flat open Snake River Plain. The flood waters wiped out the small town of
Wilford, crashed through Rexburg, and flowed through Idaho Falls. In the end 11 people died and

Animal Testing And Its Impact On The Environment
Animal Testing
According to the Oxford dictionary, the feeling of suffering is described as the state of undergoing
pain, distress or hardship. But does that definition truly cover all of the grounds under which such
feeling can be experienced? Animal testing involves the use of nonhuman species to research a
variety of products for their positive and negative outcomes. This action is carried on for the benefit
of humanity without the consideration of the animals being involved. Such act features the use of
hazardous practices that harm innocent animals, leaving them psychologically and physically
traumatized. Still, the research is considered practical since it s the closest way scientists can get to
analyze a living body without harming humans. Historically, animals have been used within the
scientific community, and as a result began to press issues regarding what the society of today and
its future hold concerning what is ethical, how animal testing has a significant role on the
environment, and how domestic and foreign economics influence its continuation, modification or
elimination in the United States.
Historical and Political
Animal experimentation can be used to gain further understanding of the biology and anatomy of
that creature or even humans. The notion of animals being able to serve as a model for humans
was supported by Charles Darwin s evolutionary theory in 1859 (Hawkins). Even prior to this
theory, however, surgery on animals became popular in ancient

How Is Wordsworth Influenced By William Wordsworth
Wordsworth is an high English poet and an establishing member of the Romantic Movement in
the English literature. He lived and wrote at the period between 1770 1850 which is the golden
era of romanticism . Like other Romantics, Wordsworth poetry and personality also were greatly
influenced by his love for the nature, especially by the spectacles and views of the Lake Country
area, where he spent most of his life in nature. Wordsworth is sincere thinker; he showed high
tenderness and a love of nature and simplicity. Two persons affected him personally and literary, his

It says that even when you are by yourself and lonely and missing your friends, you can use your
imagination to fine new friends in the world around you. As John Milton famously wrote, The

of this poem makes a heaven out of a windy day and a bunch of daffodils. His happiness does not
last forever he s not that unrealistic but the daffodils give him a little boost of joy whenever he

that the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud is the pest representation of romantic poetry. It
contains most of the characteristics of good romantic poetry. Such characteristics as subjectivity,
the love of nature, love of beauty, and joyful memories of the past. In addition, Wordsworth was

Rex Walls Research Paper
When you are an adult I think that it s basically a free for all for a person to do what they want
because they don t have their parents telling them what to do. An example would be when a
young adult goes to college. When you go to college, you are basically living on your own
which means you need to wake yourself up for classes, make your own food, and have a steady
job so you have money to buy groceries or other things you need for school. Responsibility has an
effect to the idea of freedom to do whatever because if you are responsible you think of the
outcome of the decisions you make before you make them. The Walls familydoesn t show

Essay On The Colorado River
What is the irrigation to Yuma, Arizona? A big impact on such a little town actually. Yuma s
main water source is the Colorado River. But this river does not work the greatest with Yuma s
set up. This southern part of Arizona is one big flat pile of sand so to speak. And when you are a
flat pile of sand things do not break down. Which leads to everything building on top of each other.
When rain decides to come to Yumathe water builds. This causes the Colorado River to flood. But
because of the large amount of packed sand everything floods. The flood water rages through the
town and wipes everything completely out. This happened time and time again until someone
thought, let s make a change. But what was that change? Irrigation.

It was all due to the flooding that happens in this southern area of Arizona. This low spot in
Arizona is a tricky place to handle. Yuma is a sandy region and when it rains, the sand packs
itself together. This causes the water to build on top of itself, which causes Yuma s main water
source to overflow. This is what causes the flood. When the river overflows, everything wipes out.
Farms, crop, wildlife, home structures, etc. But good things do come out of these disastrous
floods. Levees and dams were created. These collects the excess rain water quickly. The rainwater
becomes absorbed into the sand very quickly, taking away any chances of the crops drowning. With
the sudden amount of water allowed for surplus crops and high water

Hidden Figures Character Analysis
Katherine Johnson, the woman who sent the first American man to outer space was a pioneer for
women, and more importantly women of color. Margot Lee Shetterley s book Hidden Figures
writes about a woman who is calm, passionate, steady, and sure of herself. In Chapter seventeen
Outer Space of Hidden Figures by Shetterly described Katherine as a eager, passionate woman on
fire for knowledge and a lovefor the science and math. During chapter eighteen With All
Deliberate Speed, she writes of Katherines personal life. She is a nurturing mother to three girls
and a strong widow playing the role of both parents. Katherine remarries, a celebration in her
personal life, while she professionally celebrates a milestone in her career. Finally Shetterly
describes Katherine in chapter twenty one Out Of The Past, The Future, facing the outcomes of her
calculations as the landing of the Friendship 7 Space Capsule plummets towards the United States
atmosphere. Throughout it all Shetterley is exact in Katherine s description and portrays her as a
calm, passionate and sure of herself. While director Theodore Melfi artistically depicted Katherine
Johnson in his film Hidden Figures using actress Taraji P. Henson. Henson provides a real life
example of who Katherine Johnson really was during those critical years. Katherine stood with
other women of her time to break the barriers for generations of women, and women of color that
will follow for years to come. In chapter seventeen Outer Space,

Introduction:
GABAA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) receptors are the main inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors
in the mammalian brain. Although these receptors have been found in other parts of the body like
liver9, smooth airway muscles of the lungs10, and several type of immune cells11,12, their main
function comes in the nervous system, specifically neurons. The GABAA receptors located in the
postsynaptic membrane are stimulated by GABA neurotransmitter released from the pre synaptic
neurons and functions to inhibit neuronal stimulation in the short term (millisecond time range),
while the extrasynaptic GABAA receptors are stimulated by ambient GABA in the extracellular
space and confers long term inhibition.2 However, there are many types of GABAA receptors

Cys loop receptors are characterized by pentameric ligand gated ion channels. Some other members
of this superfamily are nicotinic acetylcholine (nACh), 5 hydroxytryptamine (type 3, 5HT3) and
glycine receptors 1, 2 and 3. nACh receptors and 5HT3 receptors contain cation selective channels
that depolarize or excite neurons, whereas GABAA/B receptors and glycine receptors contain anion
selective channels that, in most cases, hyperpolarize or inhibit neurons. Exception occurs during
early postnatal development when these channels are excitatory.5, 3 Neuropathic pain can occur if
these channels become excitatory in adults.16 The unique feature of GABA receptors that
distinguish it from other cys loop receptors is its activating ligand GABA (or accurately Оі
aminobutyrate). There are two types of GABA receptors A B. GABAB receptorwas originally found
due to their insensitivity to bicuculline which is GABAA antagonist1. They are G protein coupled
receptors and differ strongly in structure, function, and sequence from GABAA receptors and will

The Raising of the Age You Can Get Your Driver s License...
Should the age to receive a driver s license be raised and, if not, should graduated licensing be
instituted? This is a growing question across America as well as other countries around our globe.
The percentage of teenage accidents involving automobiles is on a constant rise. Whether caused
by the lack of experience or under the influence of alcohol, death has become all too common
among teen motorists. This problem is not going to go away by itself; action needs to be taken. The
state must raise the age requirement to receive a license or institute graduated licensing because
teens are not mature enough to handle the dangerous responsibilities of driving.

Any way you look at it, 16 year old drivers represent a growing problem, adds Allen Williams,
senior vice president of the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (CNN). Accidents that
involve 16 year old drivers are not like those involving older drivers. For one thing, 16 year old
get in trouble trying to handle unusual driving situations, even small emergencies. More often
than when older people drive, such situation turn into disasters. Eighty two percent of all 16 year
old drivers in fatal crashes during 1996 made at least one driving error that contributed to the crash.
This compares with 68 percent of drivers 17 19 years old and 52 percent of drivers 25 49 years old
(CNN).
Training and educating programs can help teens learn driving skills, but these programs do not
produce safer drivers. The only thing that s taught in driver education is how to drive legally and
not responsibly. It s often not poor skills that cause the crashes in the first place. Its teenagers
attitudes. A vast majority of teens are thrill seekers, thinking they are bullet proof and invincible.
Thus the potential for death and destruction is great (Grant14). Teens naturally tend to rebel against
adult standards and regulations. Peer pressure influences teenagers much more than advice given
by an adult. Today s teachers have either forgotten or they ignore the fact that 16 year old drivers
show off as soon as they get in the car with their

Kneeling During The National Anthem Should Not Be Allowed
Kneeling During the National Anthem Should Not be Allowed
Although NFL athletes are a huge figure in America today, they still choose to disrespect their
country by kneeling during the National Anthem. I believe kneeling during the National Anthem is
unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community, and is also bad publicity. This has caused
people to protest the NFL by doing things such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the
anthem has caused a huge controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the
attention of adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting more
focus on politics.
First off, kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic. This is the greatest country in the
world. It gives everyone who comes here an opportunity in life, and the right to pursue a life of
happiness. It is crazy to think Americas finest football players will still disrespect our Anthem.
This problem has gotten so big that even our president has had strong words concerning the issue.
President Trump has taken to twitter multiple times saying how unpatriotic it is. Also, how it
should be illegal and players who are choosing to kneel should leave the NFL. With that being
said, there are still NFL players who stand in support of the Anthem. Some coaches do not allow
players to stand alone, like Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead these players they hide

This essay will explore and evaluate the question The Primary Purpose of sentencing for criminal
offences should be to deter future offending with reference to primary and secondary sources.
Firstly this essay will look at what a sentence is for according to the law and analyse what the
disputed words mean and its consequences. Then the different theories of punishment will be
explored and will continue to look at how reoffending is prevented during an offenders sentence.
Following this the effectiveness of the prevention is analysed. Finally, prior to the final

But what about custodial life sentences? Sentencing an offender to life in prison will mean that
there will be rehabilitation of the offender but there will be no chance for them to go back to life
as a regular citizen hence deterrence is primary, here. They are considered so dangerous to the
public and prone to reoffend that the only way to deter them from reoffending is a custodial
sentence for the rest of their life. When deterring by rehabilitation is not an option, deterring by
imprisonment is used. Again Making deterrence a very primary purpose of a sentence.
The theories of punishment
Desert theories: This theory is about punishment being the right response to crime as long as it is
suitable for the seriousness of the offence. That a person who has committed a crime should and
deserves to be punished. An eye for an eye so to say. The theory is about retribution but it faces
difficulties where it may be less straightforward to determine what is an appropriate punishment for
what crime.
Rehabilitivate theories: This theory focuses on the consideration that people commit crimes
because they are struggling in life. Rehabilitation is crucial in order to prevent them from
reoffending and in turn becoming a productive member of society. This theory believes that
treatment needs to be adjusted individually for each

A Beautiful Day In My Life
Five more minutes, I groaned as I layed in my bed one cloudless Monday morning while my

How late were you up last night? she questioned as she resiliently clapped. Applications and

been three weeks! I know, I know. I m putting a lot of effort into this. After all, this is my life, is

She was right though; I did. I got ready for school, went downstairs, and gazed out the window in
the living room to see the gorgeous sunlight shine through the skyscrapers. Beautiful view, I
remarked as my mom walked down the open riser staircase. The tall towers that were scattered
across Manhattan stood right in front of my window. I walked towards the kitchen and grabbed
an apple from the fridge. I m very glad you picked this one out of all the apartments we looked at.
Me too, Lucas, my mother assured as I cleaned the alluring apple under the running faucet on the
island, me too. I took a bite into the crisp golden apple. She asked, Ready for school? Yeah, I guess,
I responded. Adios. I sluggishly hauled my five ton backpack and pulled open the decorative

Education Is Not Well Defined As Well
According to Labaree (1997) a public good is one where benefits are enjoyed by all the member of
the community, whether or not the actually contributed to the production of this good . On the
other hand, economic literature states that a good can be considered public if it is not excludable
and nonrival. The first characteristic means that if an individual consume this good the other people
are not excluded from consuming it. The second means that when one person consumes the amount
available to other people does not reduce the quantity available for others (Varian, 1992).
It is hard to set education as a public good. Because, the way we discuss education is not well
defined as well. Sometimes people discuss education in country level (or as a system), in the school
level or in the classroom level. Note that the concept of public good can be different in each
case. For instance, in classroom level it seems difficult to accept education as a public good. If a
classroom has a limited size, we are excluding people when we decide to put a group in that class.
The nonrival attribute does not seem to be true in the classroom level as well. Suppose the
classroom has a student that demands teacher all the time, the education available for other students
in the classroom can be reduced.
Nonetheless, Labaree discuss education as a system. In this case, the characteristic of a public
good fits better. If policy makers decide to provide a new seat in one school, it seems that

Theodore Roosevelt s Speech On Sports And Football
In today s society, as well as in the past, it s easy for kids and young adults to be consumed by
sports and athletics and it s even easier for those kids and young adults consumed by sports and
athletics to stray away from their education, this creates a difficult situation for the parents who are
trying to support their kids in there sports as well as persuading their kids to concentrate on their
education over sports. Responding to the fact that Ted, Theodore Roosevelts son, is asking his father

sports. By contrasting himself to his son, conceding and refuting his own argument, and using
historical examples, he convinces his son, Ted, to concentrate more on his education rather than
sports. Although Theodore Roosevelt himself never played football, he understood the
importance of football to Ted. Roosevelt starts off his letter by contrasting himself with his son
in order to emphasize how proud he is of Ted and his abilities to play football compared to
himself and Ted s brother who never had the abilities to pursue football. Roosevelt writes, I am

Isolation In The Help, By Kathryn Stockett
The Help, in light of the top of the selling novel by Kathryn Stockett, is a movie about segregation
in Jackson, Mississippi in the mid 1960s. the work clarifies, African American ladies had couple of
alternatives yet to work as abused domestics for affluent white families. While socialites endowed
the bringing up of their youngsters to the house keepers, the last were scarcely ready to tend to their

The help was not significant to both historical and social because The movie demonstrates that
isolation doesn t simply mean the African Americanand the white families should live separated. It
just simply means that they can just communicate in specific circumstances for the most part in
which the African Americans individuals are serving white individuals in some limit and there are
strict standards and standards about how they can act toward each other. Abilene s depiction of the

The, The Butcher s Tale, By Helmut Walser Smith
Late 19th Century Germany was a time seemingly stuck between two worlds the past and the
future and this period s amount of rapid growth and change ultimately resulted in the decimation
of German society as was known. This collapse allowed a river of hatred to flow in its place,
known as Anti Semitism. Based on the primary and secondary sources discussed in and out of

This estrangement left a disconnect in society that spread just from being urban or rural it
expanded all the way to the government and society as a whole. Often times, people associate
government with city as both are often far away and unaware of rural life and its needs. This
caused a rift between the people and the government as the people implementing laws and
decrees have no true knowledge of how it is affecting the people who are not directly at arms
reach . This is most prominent in The Butcher s Tale where the author describes the government
s attempts to bring in troops and investigators to quell the ongoing anti Semitic mob and in turn
they are easily dispelled. The people in small towns around the German Empire like Konitz were
aware that the government didn t understand their needs. This ultimately left them susceptible to
the media that they learned their news from. Media was just as ever changing as the society it

The above comment made by Saroj clearly gives an idea of the mindset regarding widowhood
prevalent in our society. It shows how much a woman is dependent on her husband. It is
believed that life of a married woman revolves around her husband and he is the master of her
life and if he is not there the life of the wife is meaningless. As soon as her husband dies , the
women loses her identity. Such thinking is the main cause of the plight suffered by the widows
in the name of traditions and rituals. Even the women follow such traditions and ideas because
these have internalized them. The status of Hindu widows in traditional and modern days has
been described below. Traditional In societies such as in India, widows are treated inferior to
married women and have a harder time than the widows in the west. Earlier, in many parts of
India widows were not allowed to wear coloured saris and ornaments and their heads were shaved
and in south they were not even permitted to wear blouse under their saris . This was done to
avoid any male sexual attraction and protect their chastity. According to 2000 year old texts by
Manu, the Hindu progenitor of mankind: A virtuous wife is one who

The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
There are Seven Wonders of the Ancient World known today. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon,
The Great Pyramid of Giza, The Temple of Artemis, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, The
Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, The Colossus of Rhodes, and The Lighthouse of Alexandria.
With years of research on all seven wonders, there are many questions left unanswered today.
Most of these questions include important facts about the status itself. Where were they located?
Why were they created? What happened to them? The most important unanswered question can
be asked of all seven of these wonders, did they even exist? These questions are raised by the
curiosity of architects, scientists, historians, and anyone with a bit of imagination with a love
for history. We can only gather research to get a glimpse into the ancient world and let our
imagination take control until we can gather enough evidence to be positive that yes, these
seven wonders of the world did exist. All seven wonders of the world had a powerful meaning
behind them. A temple to worship, statues dedicated to Gods, and even the burial ground of a
great King and Queen. King of Caria Maussollos and his Queen Artemisia were laid to rest in
what is known as The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. A tomb that was created by his Queen
Artemisia, likely a place for her to go to grieve the loss of her husband. This mausoleum was built
in 353 B.C. around the time of his death. This beautiful mausoleum was coated with marble filled

Homo Erectus Essay
Homo Erectus has been argued to be the first hominid to successfully migrate out of Africa, Home
Erectus had a brain size approaching that of modern humans, averaging just under 100 cubic
centimeters, his brain actually reached the lower limit of modern human brain size, Erectus was
also the first human species to have a wide, fleshy nose, his face was flat and his skull had
prominent ridges over the brow. his shorter arms were a departure from Homo habilisand
Australopithecus, indicating that tree climbing ability had finally been lost, His longer legs were
better suited to running and walking long distances a trait that doubtless helped him migrate into

Reflection of My Environmental Studies Trip to Hawaii Essay
Over the years of my high school life I have had to cope and deal with various amounts of difficult
obstacles that have, to some extent, held me back from reaching my goals. Over this last summer I
struggled, but made it through the toughest thing I ve ever experienced. I went on an environmental
studies tripto the Hawaiian Islandsthat while was the most memorable, influential experience I ve
ever been able to accomplish, was still extremely challenging and completely different from my
laid back lifestyle. In order to go on this trip I was required to write 5 essays on different topics that
are currently popular issues in Hawaii. This was quite a strenuous task for me because I ve never
had a strong gift in writing. But there was also a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jumping off of a rocky forty foot cliff is one of those risky accomplishments I can say I
overcame during my months venture. Towards the end of the trip I even went on a 17 mile
kayak trip around the beautiful Napali Coast. Events like this gave me a newfound confidence
in myself and my abilities to go into frightening and unfamiliar situations with an optimistic
outlook on how I will get through them. Not only did this trip give me amazing insight on the
unique characteristics of Hawaii, but it also taught me the skills needed to accommodate and
thrive in a new environment. Time management was one of these necessities required for
maintaining a balance between work and play. Before I went on this trip I was unaware of what
it would be like to have to deal with the daily responsibilities that aren t usually present in a
typical teenage life. Living with complete strangers and no longer having a parent s support can
be a tremendous change in a person s life. Having a sneak peek into that was exceptionally
helpful in making me aware of the future to come. These discoveries will be useful upon my
move to college where I will be living independently for the first time. I was able to experience an
unbelievable trip to somewhere incredible and completely different from the rest of the world.
Most people do not get a chance to partake in something like this in their lifetime, and I feel very
lucky to have been involved in it, and extremely thankful for the change that it

Catcher In The Rye Should Be Banned
Censorship
Is there really an age to be grown up? Should being grown up mean you have responsibilities, like
a house, a job, car, and the actual age of 18? Is that what it takes to be called grown up . In my
opinion I don t think that s the case. I don t think age means anything. It s all about if you are
responsible, polite, respectful, mature etc. Especially when it comes to foul language. Should you
have to be a certain age to be introduced to it? Even when the case has to do with books, and the
school providing you to read them. The question is whether or not The Catcher in the Rye should
be banned for age reasons and because of its language and sexual content. In my opinion it shouldn
t be banned for its language and sexual content. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which is one word maturity. The reason we have schools today is to give us an education and to
make us ready for the real world. Right? Doesn t that include maturity? Shouldn t schools teach
you that? The book Catcher in the Rye informs you on a lot of things in the real world. Like to
grown up, don t always hold onto the past, that tomorrow is always promise, etc. This book was
created for a reason. So why wouldn t someone want their students to read a book that is so
helpful to the world around us. Even though the language and content may be bad the students
should have enough maturity and respect to be able to hear/read it. Because someday they are
going to be introduce to it whether it s planned or not. So why not sooner than later. One quote
that goes forward with maturity is from the author of The Catcher in the Rye himself which is I
think that one of these days, he said, you re going to have to find out where you want to go. And
then you ve got to start going there. But immediately. You can t afford to lose a minute. Not you.
This quote is saying whether or not you want to imagine it you have to start figuring out what
you want to do with you life. And believe it or not the person you are is the person you wanna be.
A quote from the book that explains maturity is How do you know what you re going to do till
you do it? The answer is, you don t. I think I am, but how do I know? This quote is saying how
do you know if you can do something or overcome something if you aren t even giving a chance.
Just like schools banning Catcher in the Rye how do they know that students shouldn t read that.
You just have to sit back and realize that thing aren t always going to be appropriate but it s a
book. Its many words that turn into a story telling you about life and what s wrong with

Deforestation Effects On The Rainforest
Deforestation Effects
The rainforest is one of Earth s most valuable resources and at the destruction rate, people need
to stop ignoring this problem. Around the world, Tropical Rainforests are being destroyed at a
rate of 80 to 90 acres each minute. (Thompson, Heather) The rainforest is home of many living
creatures and provide the world with many supplies such as, food, clean water, and housing, but
soon the population of those living creatures will decrease and those supplies will be gone. People
need to end deforestation globally because of the main effects it has on earth like the social,
environmental, and loss of different species.
Social effects are one of many of the big effects of deforestation. The most threatening social effect
that deforestation has on most areas is in the medical profession. Tropical rainforest have given us
chemicals to treat or cure inflammation, rheumatism, diabetes, muscle tension, surgical
complications, malaria, heart conditions, skin diseases, arthritis, glaucoma, and hundreds of other
maladies. (Tropical Forest In Our Daily Lives.) Every day, nearly 137 species are becoming
extinct making it a complete unknown possibility of Pharmaceutical potential being destroyed.
(Deforestation Effects.) Instead of destroying species everyday for just paper, pencils, and many
other sources when people can cut them down for more useful reasons like medicine and not
destroy many all at once.
An obvious effect on deforestation is environmental

Theism in a Postmodern World
Theism in a Postmodern World by Billy Bush Religious Worldviews RELS 402 Professor W. C.
Calhoun June 22, 2009 Abstract In today s postmodern world, ideals of being consumed with
self and self appropriated ideas of truth leave God forgotten and to them, God is dead. This same
thought process see s no reason or logic to bring God into the picture let alone into their lives. The
pervasive postmodern worldview today includes precepts such that self decides who we become, as
well as, is not necessary to have a God who should be in control of our lives. It is difficult for a
Christian to live out his theistic worldview in today s postmodern world, but it can be done

(John 3:16, NIV). Many people ask If God is just, why is there evil? (Forte, 2003). The answer to
this is simple, evil exists because humans choose to disobey and fall into sin. The disobedience
of man is the original cause and current cause of evil in this world, not God.Christian theism
includes what happens to a person when they die. For each person death is either the gate to life
with God and His people or the gate to eternal separation from the only thing that will ultimately
fulfill human aspirations (Sire, 2004). Inevitably, there are only two destination choices; either
we will go to heaven or hell. Hell was not only created by God for Satan and those angels who
chose to defy God s will but also for those who have chosen to reject Christ s love and to follow
Him.Christian theism defines how ethics relates to the role of humans. Ethics is transcendent
and is based on the character of God as good [holy and loving] (Sire, 2004). Theism teaches the
universe is moral and there is an absolute standard by which we should all judge things. God is
the standard and all issues should be judged next to His standard.Christian Theism teaches us,
History is linear, a meaningful sequence of events leading to the fulfillment of God s purposes for
humanity (Sire, 2004). History, as we know, began when God created this world. History is not
simply a story seen as possibly or potentially true, depending upon from who

Medicare, Australia s national public health insurance, provides universal health coverage for
citizens and permanent residents in addition to people with temporary visas from countries with
which Australia has reciprocal arrangements. Medicare covers inpatient care in public hospitals
for free or subsidized access to comprehensive medical services (Mossialos et al., 2015). Citizens
may choose to buy private insurance to cover more health care options and to cover items not
covered under Medicare for example ambulance services. Medicare gives Australian residents
access to health care and is partly funded by taxpayers who pay a Medicare levy of 2.0% of their
taxable income (Ato, n.d.). The first contact with health services one may need would involve a
visit to a general practitioner, who may refer the patient to a specialist, diagnostic testing,
medication for the need to in a public hospital. Australia s health care system involves public and
private providers. The government funds the public hospitals, whereas those in the private sector
operate the private hospitals. As of June 2014 over 47% of the population had private health
insurance (PHIAC, 2014). The public perception of the Australian medical system is generally
positive and strongly favors a universal public health system funded by the public (Hardie
Critchley, 2008). In the United States the passing of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, established the

Eight Legged Creepy Flies Research Paper
The Origin of Eight Legged Creepy Crawlies
The tragic tale of how spiders came into existence began with a young girl named Arachne;
naive, prideful and a bit too talented. Arachne challenged Athena, the goddess of weaving. In
some versions of the myth Arachne directly declared her superiority to the goddess and
challenged Athena, and in other versions, her sheer skill challenged the goddess. A contest
followed, and although Arachne s weaving was better than Athena s, it was disrespectful and
showed a disgraceful vision of the gods. Weaving the gods in a bad light was a tragic mistake for
Arachne, and she paid for the transgression with her human life. Athena in a rage decided to allow
Arachne to weave forever and turned her into a spider, or, scientifically known as an arachnid
(Hamilton 302 303).
As the myth above explains, Arachne was the first spider, so the species took her name: Arachnid.
Contrary to common knowledge, spiders are not the only arachnids in existence, although they are
the most significant order in that class. Other animals which fall under the category of arachnids
include scorpions, mites, ticks, and harvestmen. Today aspects of the myth live on in the existence
of arachnids and the usage of that term, most commonly used when referring to spiders. ... Show

Texas Judicial System Research Paper
The Texas Constitution governs and backs the legislative process which consist of applicable
statues. The two bicameral chambers of legislature is the House and the Senate. The House and
Senate adopt actions and rules that are reviewed by these two bicameral chambers. The origin of
the bill is the main concern for the legislative process. This is where the bill begins and returns to
when it is reviewed by the different chambers. When drafting a bill, legislation has the ability to
request services from the Texas legislative Council (Henson J, Morris J Ch. 4). In addition, when
drafting the bill they may call in further assistance from the Senate department. The bill may
address concerns over particular issues and or special interest that legislature has. The bill can be

Depression And Its Effects On Children
Depression in Adolescents The mind is full of emotions, knowledge, memories, and much more.
The adolescent stage is very complex where a child is attacked with different emotions and
events where they begin to feel excluded from society. In this stage, teens start using their mind
for moral behavior and decision making. This is when children, begin puberty and start an
irregular hormonal stage. As physical characteristics change in a teen s body also does the
perception of themselves start to develop in their mind. For example, when teenagers are not
acknowledged by their peers they begin to exclude themselves from the outside world.
Additionally, if the teen feels out of place they start isolating themselves from society and start a
long journey of depressive thoughts. Depression is a mood disorder that causes an individual to
feel sad and isolated. Depression is a mental disorder that controls the ability to feel content. There
may be many reasons why depressive thoughts may occur. An article by Rick Ingram, particularly
displays that the vulnerability work in parent s psychopathology may be a high risk factor for their
child s depression. This theory can be dated back to different research on psychopathology like

child psychopathology. The data from the research showed that there was higher risk of depression
with children that have mothers dealing with depression. The

Compressions In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales to communicate moral lessons of his time that still
influence society today. The Canterbury Tales is a story of a pilgrimage of twenty nine characters
to the Canterbury Cathedral. On the way, each character had to tell two tales as well as two on the
way home. These tales provided entertainment for the characters on their trip. The tales are told by
the narrator, and his viewpoints on the characters reflect Chaucer s opinions towards the characters.
The tales that each character tells are each unique to each person, but through analyzing them
further it is seen that the tales share many similarities. In both tales, the main character has a
different outer impression which hides the Pardoner s and the Wife of Bath s true inner
characteristics from society. Chaucer reveals their inner characteristics through the characters tales
and how they present them. In the Canterbury Tales, Chaucer conveys a theme that although
individuals set first impressions based on appearance, the reality of their true character is often
masked by how they appear.
The general and character prologue in The Canterbury Tales gives initial physical descriptions of
the Wife of Bath and the Pardoner which helps reinforce the theme that appearance often masks
reality. In the general prologue of the Wife of Bath, she is described at first as somdel deef which
gives her a negative outer appearance which follows her throughout her description as an attractive

How Is Shakespeare s Honesty Taken To A Whole New Level Shakespeare s Honesty Taken To a Whole New Level In relationships from long ago to relationships today, men may call their wives, girlfriends, or mistresses names such as: angel, baby or they may compare them to some of nature s pure beauties. • 3. China s Struggle For Status Chinese international relations and historian Yong Deng s latest novel, China s Struggle for Status, analyzes China s rise in power and it s future trajectory according to his research. The novel was released during what many consider the peak of China s growth, or at least when the world was witnessing the prosperity of their country, the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The novel strays away from the status quo of analyzing China s rise, and rather focuses more on the reasons behind why China would want to become the world s top super power and its motives for control, if any. The book explores China s fixation with status, and why it appears they try so hard to attain it. Rather than simply writing about the struggle for power China has been experiencing and overloading the reader with statistics, Deng took a different approach. He emphasizes the major part that ideals such as reputation and status play in the political system and how they drive governments to want to achieve these both, in this case China. Deng explores how China has adapted its government and political system to successfully coexist with foreign countries, particularly after the Cold War. The novel focuses on about six areas of concern, including a chapter discussing international human rights and how China s policy in comparison to them. It goes without saying that this is a major area of concern for China, as they have been heavily scrutinized for it, but Deng also mentions the improvements that the Chinese ... • 4. Freedom In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron Freedom has always been a very important aspect in American culture, it allows people to have the opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without having any restrictions forced upon us. In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron freedom is no longer known as one of the most important foundation to American culture, like it has been for generations. But now in this futuristic society depicted by Vonnegut, enforcing the law that makes those who are above normal equal to those who are normal has become one of the main priorities. In this society, all living people are equal in every which way. This type of equality is only focused on altering beauty, strength and intelligence instead of concentrating on the main problems of race, religion, and sex, the true issues we face as a society. Although many people believe total equality is something that we should all strive for, it is just a misguided goal that is both dangerous in execution and outcome. To accomplish physical and mental equality among all Americans, the government forces its citizens to wear handicaps so everyone can meet this certain standard the government and the United StatesHandicapper General has set out for them to follow. Kurt Vonnegut illustrates the theme of freedom in Harrison Bergeron ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, anyone who is more than average in intelligence, beauty, or strength is forced to wear handicaps which make them be normal. The story depicts society s vain search for absolute equality. Specifically this new world does not attempt to raise standards for the disabled or handicapped but rather chooses to implement a more onerous solution to impede ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Lysistrata And Aristophara Although Aristophanes Lysistrata is a form of Old Comedy, which satirizes the life of the polis, and Thomas Dekker s The Shoemaker s Holiday is a form of English renaissance comedy, both plays evoke the comic process of role reversals or inversion. Inversion creates humor through the mixing up of expected hierarchies by placing the lower caste members of society on top. Thus, role reversals offer short term liberation by reimagining the way of life, which creates the possibility to mediate polarized interests. For example, in Lysistrata, Aristophanes exploits the status of women as social outsiders and inverts their role to construct an alternative model to civic government. In The Shoemaker s Holiday, Simon Eyre, a shoemaker, becomes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The carnival experience of women on top, for example, gives women a clearer picture of the real power to which they are entitled. The power the women of Lysistrata are entitled to is one of the civic, which is male dominated. Women During The Han Dynasty Women during the Han Dynasty Lessons for Women is a book of conduct written during the Han Dynasty by Ban Zhao (C. 45 120) to advise the women of her family on the proper conduct of a wife. Ancient China around this time was a Confucian state in which the society was control by the belief in order and harmony. Taxes are useful for funding programs such as, public transportation, education, and health care services, however, taxation on goods and other resources can negatively affect individuals whose socioeconomic status is low. In my opinion, taxation has different effects on different areas of our economy, taxes do affect American citizens as well as the economic policy by raising or lowering the amount of income the government receives. It is evident that a tax reform is necessary. The economic growth has been inactive for quite a few years now, the workforce association has been down, wages are not moving and the U.S. tax laws are more and more out of step. I think we need a tax reform because it is hurting American manufacturing. America has great manufacturing workers and companies. Abstract: This paper hypothesises that, whilst Six Sigma as a change and improvement strategy is delivering significant business benefit to practitioner organisations, it has not been successfully adapted to deliver similar benefits across supply chains. It demonstrates by reference to the literature that most published applications of Six Sigma in supply chains are related to the application of traditional internal Six Sigma methodologies to the internal processes of a supplier to the Six Sigma Organisation . It helps to identify and quantify critical opportunities for improvements not only within the supply chains of a single company but also between multiple trading partners. It describes a continuum of processes: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return. SCOR works best with companies that have an enterprise information platform that can carefully track this continuum through KPIs and scorecards or at least provide the data so that a qualified enterprise platform can acquire the data, analyze it and surface it to the people who need to see it. Although rooted in the supply chain realm, SCOR adherents see a role for the methodology as the gatekeeper identifying the projects most likely to render ROI using SCOR, Lean or Six Sigma. There is already a natural link between Lean and Six Sigma at the program and project execution level. Six Sigma has the project tracking and financial accountability elements. The technological revolution presupposes global computerized networks and the free movement of goods, information and people across national boundaries. Hence the internet and global computer networks make globalization possible, by producing a technological infrastructure for the global economy. Globalization has an effect on employment patterns worldwide. It has contributed to a great deal of outsourcing which is one of the greatest organizational and industry structure shifts that changes the way business operates (Drucker, 1998). Globalization is also seen as changing organizational structures where expenses can move up or down as the business climate dictates (Garr, 2001). • 13. The Oversexualization And Objectification Of Women The Oversexualization and Objectification of Women On all platforms of media, women and even young girls are oversexualized; thus leading to men viewing women as no more than breasts, vaginas, legs, or any other body part they prefer. Even in current television shows, movies, comic books, and advertisements, women are still depicted as sexual objects, which can damage a woman s confidence. The oversexualization of women s bodies can degrade a young woman s confidence, and when girls try to boost confidence by dressing or acting like the women they see in the media, they are reprimanded for it. Girls cannot be blamed for their sexualization; they are just emulating what they see in the media. On television and in movies, women are often portrayed as the love interest for the main male character or the succubus that tries to gain the main character s love through temptation. Most the women depicted in the romances are white, thin, and busty. Often the attractive female lead has a best friend who is deemed overweight and never receives any romantic interactions. The only goal the female character has is to gain the attention of the main character. In other movies and television shows when the female character is not considered attractive, she must go through a complete makeover before her love interest even notices her. Once the makeover is complete, the girl s love interest is completely stupefied with her beauty and instantly falls in love with her. This plot device leads ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the video, Fuzzy Thinking he talked about many things like what was wrong with the misspellings of the word Cat and about his choice between hiring two workers. The video did not seem very interesting at first but as I watched it, the video got more and more interesting. Tyson is a very good presenter in the video because he made it interesting and fun to listen to him. All in all, this video was a great way to get his message out on how people think. I answered 5 questions that Mrs. Baumaster asked about the video Fuzzy Thinking. Fuzzy Thinking is when people are not thinking straight. I know this is correct because right after he said fuzzy thinking he told the audience the definition of it. The misspelling of the word cat is a very complex question. One misspelling is spelled as XQT and the other is spelled as KAT but they are considered equally as wrong even though one sounds like cat and the other does not. It has been going on for centuries, since the time of the pharaohs to even the plight of the white population under Robert Mugabe. I shall be highlighting the case of Tibetan suppression under communist China. Basically Modern Chinese historians and authorities have tried to claim that historically Tibet falls under Chinese sovereignty and thus should rightfully, and legally be run from Beijing, this is not true, as I shall be explaining in my report. The first modern (post 19th century) Chinese and Tibetan hostilities began as a result of British involvement. In around 1984 China had strong links to Britain, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chinese authorities claim that Tibet was thus officially incorporated into the territory of China s Yuan Dynasty (China White Paper, p3). Yet today none of the other countries once dominated by the Mongols are oppressed by Beijing. And in reality Tibetans claim that they experienced more religious freedom, resulting in Buddhism later becoming the official religion of the Mongol Empire. Finally in the 15th century the native Ming Dynasty overthrew the Mongols. This, Chinese Historians claim again, is evidence that China inherited control of Tibet from the Mongols, yet there is no evidence to suggest the Tibet was in anyway controlled by China, and thus wasn t related to it at all. Further more during this time Tibet and China existed, as completely separate and fully individual states, although there was communication between the two there is no evidence to point to the idea that this had any major importance. The Chinese feel they have another right, although even by looking from their point of view it is hard to see the reasoning behind it. Simply, they feel that they once again earned the right to ownership of Tibet, on the grounds that when the Manchu Armies took control of both China and Tibet, Tibet fell under a much sticker role. This is the simple chronology of it. In 1644, Manchu armies seized China and established the new Qing Dynasty. Over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Teton Dam Response Paper Response Paper 4 The thirst for water has lead individuals and organizations to build dams across rivers at an alarming rate. During the early 1900s dams were being built so fast it was no longer big news when a dam was completed. These structures provided controlled irrigation water and hydroelectric power to the communities not only close to the reservoirs and dams, but also provided irrigation water and hydroelectric power to communities many miles away from the river. Negatively blocking the flow of the river has impacted fish ecosystems, increased evaporation of water, and flooded intricately important landscapes. These negative impacts, it can be argued, affect the humans living downstream or within the flood plain of the damsite. Dams... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dam had been hastily built on a site that should not have a dam or a large body of water. Closer to home, the Teton Dam is an example of how the perceived need to have water can create dangerous and often deadly consequences. The Teton Dam was built in southern Idaho s Snake River basin on the Teton River. Extensive studies were conducted at the site to test for things like water availability and soil structure. The main aim was to provide water that could be used in times of drought as a buffer. The area was irrigated well using wells; however, extra water is always welcome in the southern Idaho desert. Many of the short comes of the site were over looked. Engineers stated that the dam could be built well enough to overcome the issues in the land. On June 5 the engineers were proved wrong. Throughout the day leaks that had developed the day before grew larger. By midmorning the dam gave way spilling its contents into the flat open Snake River Plain. Animal Testing And Its Impact On The Environment Animal Testing According to the Oxford dictionary, the feeling of suffering is described as the state of undergoing pain, distress or hardship. But does that definition truly cover all of the grounds under which such feeling can be experienced? Animal testing involves the use of nonhuman species to research a variety of products for their positive and negative outcomes. This action is carried on for the benefit of humanity without the consideration of the animals being involved. Such act features the use of hazardous practices that harm innocent animals, leaving them psychologically and physically traumatized. Still, the research is considered practical since it s the closest way scientists can get to analyze a living body without harming humans. Historically, animals have been used within the scientific community, and as a result began to press issues regarding what the society of today and its future hold concerning what is ethical, how animal testing has a significant role on the environment, and how domestic and foreign economics influence its continuation, modification or elimination in the United States. Historical and Political Animal experimentation can be used to gain further understanding of the biology and anatomy of that creature or even humans. Although these receptors have been found in other parts of the body like liver9, smooth airway muscles of the lungs10, and several type of immune cells11,12, their main function comes in the nervous system, specifically neurons. The GABAA receptors located in the postsynaptic membrane are stimulated by GABA neurotransmitter released from the pre synaptic neurons and functions to inhibit neuronal stimulation in the short term (millisecond time range), while the extrasynaptic GABAA receptors are stimulated by ambient GABA in the extracellular space and confers long term inhibition.2 However, there are many types of GABAA receptors depending on the subunits that they are made up of ... More often than when older people drive, such situation turn into disasters. • 31. Education Is Not Well Defined As Well According to Labaree (1997) a public good is one where benefits are enjoyed by all the member of the community, whether or not the actually contributed to the production of this good . On the other hand, economic literature states that a good can be considered public if it is not excludable and nonrival. The first characteristic means that if an individual consume this good the other people are not excluded from consuming it. The second means that when one person consumes the amount available to other people does not reduce the quantity available for others (Varian, 1992). It is hard to set education as a public good. Because, the way we discuss education is not well defined as well. Sometimes people discuss education in country level (or as a system), in the school level or in the classroom level. Note that the concept of public good can be different in each case. For instance, in classroom level it seems difficult to accept education as a public good. If a classroom has a limited size, we are excluding people when we decide to put a group in that class. The nonrival attribute does not seem to be true in the classroom level as well. Suppose the classroom has a student that demands teacher all the time, the education available for other students in the classroom can be reduced. Nonetheless, Labaree discuss education as a system. The, The Butcher s Tale, By Helmut Walser Smith Late 19th Century Germany was a time seemingly stuck between two worlds the past and the future and this period s amount of rapid growth and change ultimately resulted in the decimation of German society as was known. This collapse allowed a river of hatred to flow in its place, known as Anti Semitism. Based on the primary and secondary sources discussed in and out of class, I believe there are three main reasons why such a horrendous belief system infiltrated 19th Century German society: conflict between urban and ruralpopulations, rapid freedoms granted to the media, and the ignorance of German politicians who unknowingly or not, pushed political extremists agendas. This estrangement left a disconnect in society that spread just from being urban or rural it expanded all the way to the government and society as a whole. Often times, people associate government with city as both are often far away and unaware of rural life and its needs. This caused a rift between the people and the government as the people implementing laws and decrees have no true knowledge of how it is affecting the people who are not directly at arms reach . This is most prominent in The Butcher s Tale where the author describes the government s attempts to bring in troops and investigators to quell the ongoing anti Semitic mob and in turn they are easily dispelled. The people in small towns around the German Empire like Konitz were aware that the government didn t understand their needs. This ultimately left them susceptible to the media that they learned their news from. Media was just as ever changing as the society it was taking place within. During this time, media was just beginning to become a nationwide phenomenon. In May of 1874, the Imperial Press Law decreed that there would be freedom of the press. It is believed that life of a married woman revolves around her husband and he is the master of her life and if he is not there the life of the wife is meaningless. As soon as her husband dies , the women loses her identity. Such thinking is the main cause of the plight suffered by the widows in the name of traditions and rituals. Even the women follow such traditions and ideas because these have internalized them. The status of Hindu widows in traditional and modern days has been described below. Traditional In societies such as in India, widows are treated inferior to married women and have a harder time than the widows in the west. With years of research on all seven wonders, there are many questions left unanswered today. Most of these questions include important facts about the status itself. Where were they located? Why were they created? What happened to them? The most important unanswered question can be asked of all seven of these wonders, did they even exist? For each person death is either the gate to life with God and His people or the gate to eternal separation from the only thing that will ultimately fulfill human aspirations (Sire, 2004). The Canterbury Tales is a story of a pilgrimage of twenty nine characters to the Canterbury Cathedral. On the way, each character had to tell two tales as well as two on the way home. These tales provided entertainment for the characters on their trip. The tales are told by the narrator, and his viewpoints on the characters reflect Chaucer s opinions towards the characters. The tales that each character tells are each unique to each person, but through analyzing them further it is seen that the tales share many similarities. In both tales, the main character has a different outer impression which hides the Pardoner s and the Wife of Bath s true inner characteristics from society. Chaucer reveals their inner characteristics through the characters tales and how they present them. In the Canterbury Tales, Chaucer conveys a theme that although individuals set first impressions based on appearance, the reality of their true character is often masked by how they appear. The general and character prologue in The Canterbury Tales gives initial physical descriptions of the Wife of Bath and the Pardoner which helps reinforce the theme that appearance often masks reality.
