The Biology Of Neanderthals
The Biology of Neanderthals
The purpose of this paper is to highlight some of the current results of testing of Neanderthal fossils.
By providing a comparison analysis of Homo sapiens to Homo neanderthalensis we can see the
fundamental differences as well as the advances of our evolution. By starting from the macro level and
working toward the micro level we can see how sciences views of these creatures have evolved as
well. The advances in scientific technology and ever expanding database of knowledge have revised
conclusions to old theories. By the end of this scientific journey many readers will find out that
Neanderthals are still alive today living in their genetic code In the Neander Valley near Dusseldorf,
Germany in 1856 a group of quarrymen discovered the remnants of a skeleton. In a limestone cave
they found 16 pieces of bone including a skull. Thinking that the bones belonged to a bear the
quarrymen gave them to a local teacher named Johan Karl Fuhlrott. From him the bones found their
way to other scientists. It was eventually determined that they were an ancient human relative.
(Szalay, 2013) At first scientists weren t sure what they d found: some claimed it was the remains of
Mongol horsemen, others thought they were deformed Homo sapiens. It wasn t until 1864 that an Irish
Geologist named Dr. William King came up with the name Homo neanderthalis describing the
location of where the bones were found, Thal is an older spelling of tal which is the German word

This Way for the Gas, Ladies Gentlemen
The sole factor that separated Tadeusz Borowski from the gas chambers when he was at Auschwitz
beyond the fact that he wasn t Jewish was his cooperation with the S.S. soldiers. He assisted the Nazis
in eliminating thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. This Way for the Gas, Ladies and
Gentlemen ultimately uses the narrator to convey Borowski s message of what really happened during
the Holocaust. This also explains why the story is in first person: it reflects the author s own
experiences. Borowski s writing is quite crude: harsh yet realistic. Readers cannot judge Borowski
negatively; he was as much of a victim as the people coming off the transports.
Throughout This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen, Borowski portrays the ... Show more

soldiers while ultimately they are equals to those being sent to the gas chambers.
Borowski mentioned a key reason as to why he did not commit suicide. His own question What will
the world know of us if the Germans win? allowed him to fight through the struggle in the hopes of
getting out alive one day and sharing the truth with the world; it would be the only way the truth
emerged (Charters 150). What may seem immoral to people outside the camps is ordinary to those
inside as proven by Henri s actions in the story. Ultimately, though, the two worlds are incomparable.
Due to his need to collaborate with the S.S. soldiers in order to keep himself alive, many may consider
that Borowski indeed played a huge part in the deaths of thousands of people when he could have
taken a more noble route self immolation as the girl did in the story. This is hindsight bias, however,
and does not take into account the terror that filled the prisoners. In a hope to see life beyond
imprisonment, anyone would take part in this process. The survival of the fittest theory created by
Charles Darwin analyzes organisms behavior towards one another and their environment to see who
will thrive. In concentration camps such as Auschwitz, the only method of survival was assisting the
S.S. soldiers if one was not already sentenced to death by default. To be able to collaborate day in and
day out and stomach the

How Does Peaceful Resistance Affect Society
Peaceful Resistance Provides A Positive Impact
When a law is believed to be unfair, some people express their opposition to the law peacefully. An
effective way to voice one s opinion is through peaceful resistance or protest, which is protected under
the first amendment. Many of the rights protected by the amendments were enacted because of
peaceful resistance. Peaceful resistance, or protesting without using violence, is a positive way for
people to voice their opinions and influence society. Peaceful resistance to laws impacts a free society
in a more positive way than violent resistance, proven by James Otis and John Milton.
In February 1761, James Otis represented the merchants of Boston and delivered a speech explaining
how the Writs of Assistance violated the natural rights of the colonists, ... Show more content on

James Otis resisted random searches of private property, now protected by the Fourth Amendment.
John Milton is responsible for the freedoms held by citizens, now protected by the First Amendment.
However, while this is evidence that peaceful resistance leaves a lasting impact on the law, the
American Revolution provided many occasions when violent resistance was seen as effective. In
Massachusetts, the only barracks available for use, on the mainland, did not provide enough room for
the British soldiers to be sheltered in public buildings, and, therefore, they were housed in public tents
in Boston (History.com Staff). British soldiers became annoyed with the patriotic colonists after living
closely with them and began to fight and brawl with local Boston citizens (U S History.com.

killing five citizens (History.com Staff). This violent approach provided an effective means of protest,
that reminded the Forefathers of the contradictions of the Quartering

The Apprentice is a TV arrangement, at the first event in the US with 16 applicants attempting to
become the apprentice of the multibillionaire Donald Trump. The accomplishment of the arrangement
was big to the point that few seasons were made after that, even outside the US. The show observes
hopefuls divided into two groups, contending with one to another for a position to work for Donald
Trump. Every week the applicants participate in performing multiple tasks assigned by Mrs. Trump,

Therefore, the absence of these elements can influence negatively on the team performance and
develop a potential conflict.
One of the big mistakes of versacorp that week was selecting Sam as a project manager, despite his
reputation in the last two weeks as a follower. To lead the group, the team leader must have
confidence, experience, and knowledge in managing and coordinating the skills, the efforts, and the
actions equally between the group members in order to achieve the goal wanted. Sam did not have all
these characteristics, which made his mission troublesome. But certain factors, like pressure, lack of
skills, improper management styles, and biases can make team leaders weak (Retrieved from

when he rejected to give a telephone number to his gathering when bill and Kwame were searching for
the store area. Also, as a project manager, Sam did not motivate his team members by giving them
helpful instructors to perform and to avoid committing errors. Leaders are supposed to be firm,
decisive and empowering. They can also motivate their members without imposing or domineering

Cost Of Professional Sports Essay
Professional sports in the United States have served as a staple for consumer entertainment for over a
century, while at the same time providing a sense of unity that a community can rally behind. When an
owner wants to acquire or create a new franchise, they rely heavily on the surrounding community to
help fund and support its creation. While many of these individuals have adequate funds to do this on
their own, they argue that the community will reap a large expense of the reward from establishing a
team and push the burden of large fixed costs on the community. Due to the unpredictable demand for
professional sports, do the costs associated with a franchise outweigh the assumed risks placed on a
community? When a professional sports team decides to move to a city, several factors are analyzed
and required before their arrival. One of the more important decisions made is where will the team
play? Accounting as one of the greatest expenses, constructing an arena or stadium is a fixed cost
taken on by a local government and its community. Opened in the mid 1990 s, The Edward Jones
Dome once served as a beacon of hope for the people of St. Louis for their newly acquired football
team. Fans and taxpayers were promised that the acquisition of the team would generate ... Show more

Things such as the stadium, players, and coaches are a few of the major fixed costs that are necessary
for a team to exist. These costs are paid no matter what, regardless of whether there is any revenue. If
a team tends to follow an unsuccessful track, the interest of the consumer deteriorates and potential
revenue is lost along with it. With a negative ATC and MC linked to the marginal revenue, a franchise
reaches a point where it can no longer produce at a loss, forcing the owner to seek for a new market of

Transgressions In Mervyn Leroy s The Bad Seed
While the conclusion tacked onto the end of The Bad Seed didn t manage to change some of the less
obvious themes in Mervyn LeRoy s 1956 film, the new ending put in place by conservative lobby
groups affects the portrayal of transgressions from societal standards and taboos. The dramatic
difference in the ending gives the film a strong message that transgressions can only be righted
through an act of god. The fact that Rhoda is transgressive is still undeniably a part of the film. In fact,
Rhoda could even be considered twice as transgressive: she is both a murderer and a child murderer,
two separate taboos (Hendershot, p. 28). Further still, the fact that Rhoda does not deviate into any
other major taboos at any point during the film a stark

How Did Philip II Change The Military
Philip II took control of Macedon in 359 BC as Macedon was going through a deep crisis. On the
verge of collapse with having recently lost 4,000 men and Persiccas killed in battle against invading
Illyrians and his death opening several security threats, Macedon was in desperate need of a ruler.
With the heir to the throne only an infant Philip persuaded the officials to recognise him as king in
place of his infant nephew. Philip quickly realised the weakness of his country s army and drew upon
past experiences to mould them into a supreme army. He effectively reformed the Phalanx, Cavalry,
siege craft and weapons to gain military supremacy and hegemony. Before Philip, the Phalanx was
extremely week with weapons, layout and manoeuvrability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The weapons and shield were big, bulky and impractical as seen by Philip. Philips reform to the use,
and style of weapons made it easier and more effective for soldiers to fight. Similarly to how Philip
changes the structure of the army from a citizen army to a professional army, he had to change the
weaponry that was use. Previously as armies were citizen armies, each solider obtained their
weaponry from themselves, resulting in a vast variety of styles and quality of weapons. Philip
successfully changed this by creating a professional army, who was paid by the State and with
everything provided by the State. This not only created unity within the men fighting by also new and
uniform weapons, generating a better army. Weapons that Philip created that effectively lead the
Macedonian army to success include the Sarissa. The Sarissa was a six meter long pike gave its
wielder many advantages both offensively and defensively. The added length against enemies meant
that a Macedonian solider could stab its enemy with the Sarissa while still being out of touch of the
enemies pike. The Sarissa was effective as it kept the solider with safe distance from enemies; it was
designed so that if or when it broke, it was able to be turned around and used again, hence the
versatility of the weapon being vital and effective to the Macedonian army. Philip also introduced that
each man possessed a double ended sword. Once his Sarissa was broken he was still able to take part
in hand to hand sword fighting, of which Philip made sure that they were highly trained as Diodorus
said that Philip trained and disciplined his troops to extremely high proficiency, as is shown on the
many successful battle fields. The reformed shield being lighter and smaller also made it easier for the
men to sword fight when necessary. This reform in the Macedonian professional army was

Private Schools Vs. Public Schools
A school is a that place which is designed to provide learning spaces as well as environments for the
teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Schools are the roots of every children in his/her
life. With the help of school students grasps wide array of knowledge from school which is beneficial
for them in their future. However, some people argue that private schools are better over public
school. From my point of view, private school are better because it is enriched with academic
opportunities, well qualify staff and extracurricular activities as compared to public School. Hence, I
agree with this statement that private schools are better than public schools.
The reason why private schools are better than public schools because it enriched with academics
opportunities to a great extend rather than public schools. It is true that private schools have more
rigorous academic programs such as Advanced Placement courses are commonly found in private

The Lack Of School Security In California
School security is one of the world s biggest issues. In California not many schools have security for
their schools and that raises many questions for parents and teachers. All parents want their children to
be safe and they don t want anything bad to happen to them. They don t know what might happen to
them when they go to school. Some schools don t have security systems because they don t have
government support to afford security for their school. Parents think twice before sending their kids to
school with no security because of the crime that s been happening lately. Department of Education

Talking to my cousin Kamalpreet about school security was a must because she goes to school where

Kamalpreet said she witnessed lots of crime happening around their school and that their school doesn
t have any type of security arrangements. Many people fight at their school and no one is there to stop
them because of lack of security system. She said no matter what type of school it is they should have
security arrangements for their school safety. Also she said that as new technology is on the rise and
they should make some type of detectors to keep schools safe. Every school should have some type of
security and it is not cheap to get security systems. The whole issue is about money because they are
too expensive, so not every school can afford them. There are many ways to raise money if school
tries and that money can help with security. Raising money is always an option when it comes down to
children s safety. Teachers should keep children on the right track then they will go into right direction
and that will help school as a whole feel safer. If teachers don t teach anything then children will fight
with each other and school won t feel safe, but that is also up to the students. The Department

Analysis Of The Joy Luck Club
Whether it is wholesome or tough love, the bond of a mother and daughter can never be broken. The
Joy Luck Club is the epitome of this notion. The anthology contains a series of sixteen vignettes, four
of which belonging to one of each of the four members of The Joy Luck Club. These vignettes cover
the perspectives of mothers who immigrated to America from China, along with the flip side point of
view, taken over by each of their daughters. In the anthology, Tan reflects on her past life and
incorporates it into the book, exploring cultural, relationship, and internal conflicts.
The first chapter of The Joy Luck Club is named after one mother, Suyuan Woo. The reader is
introduced to Jing Mei, her daughter, struggling to replace her mother in her spot at the mahjong table,
as she died two months prior. In 1949, Suyuan Woo and her husband, Canning, left for America in
effort for a better life two years before the birth of Jing Mei. There, she joined a Chinese baptist
church where she met the other core members of The (rendition of) Joy Luck Club: the Hsus, the
Jongs, and the St. Clairs. Suyuan and Jing Mei Woo, despite how well they get along, run into many
conflicts, mostly regarding their differences in culture. Suyuan grew up in China, where she had gone
through several complications and dire situations, which as a result forced her to succumb to extreme
sacrifices one of which being the abandonment of her own twins. On the other hand, Jing Mei was

Sleep Deprivation And Childhood Deprivation
Background: According to sleepfoundation.org, the average teenager (14 17 years old) should be
getting approximately 8 10 hours of sleep per night and young adults (18 25) should be getting 7 9
hours of sleep ideally (Ferrara Gennaro, 2001). Getting this amount of sleep is ideal for proper growth
and health in teens/young adults. However, generally speaking ask any typical High Schooler, more
common in Juniors/Seniors, and they will say that their sleep schedule is nowhere close to the
recommended amount (Dinges, Pack, Williams et al. 1997). This is where the issue of sleep
deprivation arises. Getting under the recommended hours of sleep for your age group is generally

Since your body adjusts to a deprived state, people may not even know they are sleep deprived and
how it is negatively affecting them. Alongside the cognitive performance issues is the more dangerous
motor function issues, which have to do with the movements and actions of your muscles. These
problems arise because when you are sleep deprived, your wake state is destabilized (Durmer Dinges
2005). Sleep deprivation increases the risk of accidents by humans to an estimated 20%. (Durmer
Dinges 2005) As stated prior, being sleep deprived is considered having less than 6 hours of sleep per
night and these results have been prevalent to people living busy lives. Having impaired motor
functions can be especially dangerous during activities that require the person to be attentive, such as
driving. Accidents that are related to sleep deprivation have been estimated to have an impact of $43
$56 billion annually (Durmer Dinges 2005). A large portion of these accidents have to do with motor
vehicles all related to fatigue or general sleepiness while operating a vehicle. Alongside reduced sleep
duration and prolong driving duration are all contributing facets to these statistics/facts. However,
being able to get 8 9 hours of sleep can counteract this issue and inverse the effects of sleep

If We Were Birds
To this day, I can discretely remember watching an episode of war in an historical Indian drama where

World War 1 Trenches Research Paper
The majority of fighting on the Western front during World War one was fought in trenches. These
were long, deep ditch like structures where soldiers would live, fight and most likely die. The two
armies would be stationed on parallel trenches where they would face each other in a long battle of
attrition, there would be many different lines of trenches where armies would retreat to or advance to a
captured trench. In between The two armies trenches would be no mans land where the fighting
happened. For a soldier life would be a cold, dirty, monotonous cycle that seemed to never end.
Soldiers would be living together in tiny spaces in all weather, so disease was common and was a
terrible killer for the soldiers. Trenches would often flood, making the damp and perfect for rat that

Frederick Douglass s piece, Learning to Read, explained the firsthand experiences he had as a young,

strategies.
Marketing is the best platform through which the company can be its potential customers to buy its
products and services. Therefore, the management should plan strong campaign team that will enable
the company employees to engage customers on one on one discussion about their products and

The Cask Of Amontillado, By Poe
The narration The Cask of Amontillado by Poe has been universally referred to as the world s most
perfect stories. It is an emotional piece with every verdict contributing to the overall effect of a
completely unified work. Further, however, it may seem to be easy; this literary piece thrives in
ironies of various kinds. The narrator commences by informing the audience about the hurt and insult
he received from Fortunato. Besides, every sentence adds to the unity that the author wanted to
achieve. The plot of the story is quite simple. It is written in the first person, who is later discovered to
be named Montresor. Throughout the whole story, the main aim the narrator wants to reach is to
revenge on Fortunato, who insulted him. Thus, the most interesting parts of the tale deal with the
Montresor s techniques of trapping down his offender (Baraban 47). Unfortunately, he has never let
Fortunato learn of his hatred. The entire narration takes a form of a slur that could induce such a well
planned scheme of revenge.
Irony as a Theme
The diabolical massacre and further the fact that the narrator has lived with impunity are shocking to
the audience. The twofold and ironic perspective prolongs on every phase. For instance, when
Montresor meets Fortunato, he produces a smile of warm and friendliness, but in the real sense, the
smile is satanic (Charles 461). Therefore, this research elaborately revolves around the theme that Poe
employed in his short story, The Cask of

However, it is important to know that Marco is a threat since he held more power than her. Esther

Essay on Whirlpool Corporation
Jennifer Hillman February 26, 2013 Whirlpool Corporation Giving ERP a Spin 1. How was the
organization prepared for the change? Whirlpool thought they were ready to go live with SAP until
September 18, 1999. Whirlpool seemed to be making all the right moves, like dispatcher assignment,
having centralized pricing, and vendor interfacing. Even the best laid plans don t always work.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly at first because there were only 1000 system users, once
4,000 users were on the system, performance deteriorated which lead to 4 8 weeks delivery delays to
which some customer cancelled their order and went with a competitor. Whirlpool should never have

steps that were taken in the ERP activities. Which were done well and which could be improved? The

though it takes away the intimate knowledge, it still saves money. Centralized Pricing no wonder it
takes 110 days to reprice its entire product line, when you are trying to manage an 180,000 line report.
The centralized pricing will make Whirlpool more competitive in its 170 countries worldwide. Very
smart move. Vendor interface the fact that Whirlpool will save $600,000 a year to move to Easy EDI
is a no brainer. It will also allow the customer to have accurate data on their orders along with better
customer satisfaction. Remember the best customer is a return customer. 6. Do you think SAP should
be held accountable for any of the problems faced by Whirlpool? Why? Yes I think SAP should be
held responsible, after all it is their systems and name that were on the line. If they knew that there

Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations
For Smith, the value of all commodities that the market is supposed to promote is not come from the
money price, but come from the amount of labor required to purchase them because nobody wants to
purchase a good that is created with less effort. Therefore, the real value that the market needs to
promote is the labor that is invested in the product. For example, in real life diamond or gold is very
expensive but people do not really need them because without them, people still alive. On the other
hand, water or food is not as expensive as diamond or gold, but they are very necessary in real life
because we cannot survive without water and foods. According to Smith, to understand the difference
from these prices, we can look at the amount of labor needed to bring these products to market. The
money price of a particular community may fluctuate from a variety of reasons, but the amount of
labor needed to purchase it remains constant.
To promote that value, we should improve the division of labor, which is the greatest improvement in
the productive power of labor. Division of labor is always has the important role in increasing
productivity exponentially of a company. For Smith, division of labor is very important even in
producing a very simple product because it creates specialized knowledge of a particular trade or task
that makes the employees get

The cutting at Bronte is a section of rock face which made of a sendimetary layer known as

of the surface above where it lies. Over time, the pressure results in the grains of sand being fused

The Madness Of Hamlet And Ophelia
Ryan Deng
Emery
AP English Literature Period 6
11 December 2015
The Madness of Hamlet and Ophelia Psychotic behavior is prevalent in Shakespeare s Hamlet as two
of his characters, Hamlet and Ophelia, exhibit madness during the play. The play commences after
Claudius killed King Hamlet, leaving him in purgatory. Hamlet, after discovering this fact, feigns
madness, which he calls an antic disposition (1.5.192) in his plot for revenge to ultimately free his
father. Ophelia, on the other hand, succumbs to madness after the death of her father Polonius and
Hamlet s rejection of her love. Both experience deaths within their families, which lead to a loss of
identity because their identities are greatly shaped by their familial ... Show more content on

Shakespeare s use of a hyperbole illustrates the profound influence that King Hamlet had on his son s
life, as Hamlet expresses immense respect for his father shown through his initial unconditional
obedience to the orders given by the Ghost, who is King Hamlet. Without King Hamlet s presence,
Hamlet s mind is filled with only trivial matters, devoid of substance, revealing his initial loss of
identity after his father s death. Soon after, Claudius marries Gertrude and takes the throne of
Denmark. He demands Hamlet to think of [him]/ As of a father (1.2.110,111), and Hamlet becomes
depressed, claiming my father s brother, [is] but no more like his father,/ than I to Hercules (1.2.153).
Hamlet s allusion and comparison of himself, as a mortal, to the half god Hercules demonstrates the
immense contrast in character between the noble King Hamlet and the evil usurper Claudius. Hamlet
grieves that he must honor the malevolent Claudius as his father, giving him the same unqualified
respect he gave to King Hamlet due to the necessity of obeying Claudius, who wields the power of
King. Hamlet therefore decides to put on an antic disposition to rid himself of his newfound identity
associated with the wicked Claudius, as others, such as Polonius later in the play, will attribute Hamlet
s actions to be caused by a lack of control which lowers their suspicion of Hamlet and lessens the
difficulty of killing Claudius. Hamlet, motivated by

On April 16, 2007 one of the most devastating mass murders in U.S history occurred at a Virginia
college. Seung Hui Cho a 23 year old South Korean alone executed the killing of 33 people by
securing colleges doors to prevent escape of any students. Events such as these are truly tragic and
devastating to all involved. By gathering background information about Seung Hui Cho, we can

Cho had a hard childhood and was in the shadows of his very successful sister. Even in college Cho
had no friends and began to look up to other school shooters as martyrs. Although these individuals
were not his friends at all in his situation they were the closest thing to having friends. In college Cho
was accused of stalking women on two different occasions, was caught taking photos of the legs of
female students in class and was separated out of classes. I believe that Cho s antisocial lifestyle along
with the transition any from home eventually lead him to commit the mass murder. Cho s anti social
lifestyle seemed to escalate to criminal behaviors from the time he went off to college until the time of
the Virginia Tech shooting. I believe that this tragedy could have been prevented if the proper
preventative measures and treatment techniques were taken. As a boy Cho should have been taken in
for a mental evaluation but I believe the integration of his family into the American society prevented
that. In high school Cho being bullied and teased could have been put to a stop by teachers and
surrounding students. Also when Cho started writing gruesome poems short stories and plays he
should have been recommended to a counselor. Any counselor that Cho had encounters with could
have been a lot more persistent in getting to the bottom of Cho s situations. A teacher college teacher

Analysis Of George Bergeron s The Novel
Charlie Kaufman s upcoming adaptation Harrison Bergeron takes a different approach to the original
short story. In the Vonnegut s story the year is 2081 and the world is finally equal or at least
considered to be that way. Everyone wears handicaps to suppress whatever can give them an
advantage, such as headpieces that stop a person from using their brain, weights to diminish strength,
and masks to hide beauty. The short story looks at the lives of Hazel and George Bergeron living
during this new era. They have a son named Harrison, but he was taken away before the events of the
story. Largely, Vonnegut s story presents itself as a satire to communism; however Kaufman creates a
darker much different perspective. During an early screening of Kaufman s adaptation the viewer only
gets a glimpse of the beginning of the film. Kaufman begins the narrative using the same first line of
the short story, the year was 2081 and the world was finally equal (Vonnegut 7). Yet, there is a
noticeable dramatic difference, the narration is told through George s perspective. The choice is
interesting because upon learning this fact the narration becomes bias. George s narration seems bitter
and clearly the system he lives in is not one that he supports. Still, the perspective is interesting
because there is a lot of static during the narrated moments, presumably from George s handicap. A
smart choice as it allows the reader to understand what the handicap is like through George s eyes. At

could be considered negligence. The case I have chosen to study is one from the Circuit Court of

Essay On Tony Andrews
Tony Andrews is a veteran sound engineer and a highly regarded sound system designer. Tony
Andrews and John Newsham founded the legendary sound system manufacturer known as Funktion
One in 1992. Before that they were also responsible for founding Turbosound in the 1970s which is
where Tony set out to get the perfect live sound (or as close to it as possible). Tony Andrews was
convinced that live sound could sound the way a band did in a recording studio. Tony s involvement
with the Glastonbury Festival (before Turbosound) led to the development of the proper festival sound
which consisted of separate cabinets for the lows, mids, and high frequencies. This revolutionized and
changed the quality of live sound in the mid 70s and paved the way for a new era of sound systems.
In 1978 Tony Andrews met John Newsham and formed Turbosound. They began designing and

Early Renaissance And The Renaissance
Early Renaissance to High Renaissance
The Renaissance is the period that immediately follows the Middle Ages in Europe ancient Rome and
Greece. Growing prosperity and reduction in political stability accompanied by new technologies, the
printing press, astronomy and the exploration and discovery of new continents was supplemented by a
blossoming of philosophy, literature, and art. Painting style, decorative arts, and sculpture arose in
Italy in the 14th century, reached its peak in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. These were the
works of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo and others. Renaissance expressed classical
Greco Roman traditions and captured the experience of the individuals and the mystery and beauty of
the natural world.
The origin of the Renaissance
The origins can be dated back in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. During this period (between
1280 and1400), the Italian scholars and artists perceived themselves as regeneration to the
achievements and ideals of Roman culture. Some writers like Giovanni Boccaccio (1313 1375) and
Petrarch (1304 1374) remembered ancient Greece and Rome and pursued to revive the languages,
intellectual and value traditions of these cultures after the long period of inactivity that had proceeded
the fall of the Roman Empire in the 6th century.

After consulting, the coach found out his reasoning being, when he played as a child, they did not
have all the gear to entirely be safe and this worried the dad that the same thing would happen to his

sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork, parents should take the risk and let their kids
play the game.
By participating in football people can learn sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork.
Considering the many lessons it teaches, teamwork and discipline play the main role. With teamwork,
players/children are learning how to trust their teammates the more experience they have with each
other. As for discipline, it teaches kids to work hard and set good goals which can be helpful for them
in the future as opposed to not playing, and being a step behind. NFL expert Jobe Lewis says that
football requires a pretty unique brand of teamwork and requires the player to discipline himself and
to work hard (Lewis 1).

Understanding Other People s Religious Beliefs
Understanding other peoples religious beliefs in addition to our own is essential to tolerance because
one s faith often define who they are. I fully agree that all religions lead to one truth, the Absolute
truth. There is One truth. There is only one Goal, but there are various paths. Each religion is right in
its own way. (Sri Chinmoy) It is the willingness to cooperate with individuals of different faiths,
different customs and of different beliefs who you do not agree with without prejudice.
In the United States like in many other countries, the concept of religion in relation to acceptance,
freedom and understanding is fundamentally a part of our culture as a whole. Federalists, James
Madison and Alexander Hamilton, drafted the Bills of Rights to the U.S. Constitution in response to
the anti Federalists such as Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry distrust in the idea of trusting
Congress with our God given or natural rights of the people. Congress shall make no law respecting
an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the

  • 2. The Biology Of Neanderthals The Biology of Neanderthals The purpose of this paper is to highlight some of the current results of testing of Neanderthal fossils. By providing a comparison analysis of Homo sapiens to Homo neanderthalensis we can see the fundamental differences as well as the advances of our evolution. By starting from the macro level and working toward the micro level we can see how sciences views of these creatures have evolved as well. The advances in scientific technology and ever expanding database of knowledge have revised conclusions to old theories. By the end of this scientific journey many readers will find out that Neanderthals are still alive today living in their genetic code In the Neander Valley near Dusseldorf, Germany in 1856 a group of quarrymen discovered the remnants of a skeleton. In a limestone cave they found 16 pieces of bone including a skull. Thinking that the bones belonged to a bear the quarrymen gave them to a local teacher named Johan Karl Fuhlrott. From him the bones found their way to other scientists. It was eventually determined that they were an ancient human relative. (Szalay, 2013) At first scientists weren t sure what they d found: some claimed it was the remains of Mongol horsemen, others thought they were deformed Homo sapiens. It wasn t until 1864 that an Irish Geologist named Dr. William King came up with the name Homo neanderthalis describing the location of where the bones were found, Thal is an older spelling of tal which is the German word ... • 3. This Way for the Gas, Ladies Gentlemen The sole factor that separated Tadeusz Borowski from the gas chambers when he was at Auschwitz beyond the fact that he wasn t Jewish was his cooperation with the S.S. soldiers. He assisted the Nazis in eliminating thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen ultimately uses the narrator to convey Borowski s message of what really happened during the Holocaust. This also explains why the story is in first person: it reflects the author s own experiences. Borowski s writing is quite crude: harsh yet realistic. Readers cannot judge Borowski negatively; he was as much of a victim as the people coming off the transports. Throughout This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen, Borowski portrays the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... soldiers while ultimately they are equals to those being sent to the gas chambers. Borowski mentioned a key reason as to why he did not commit suicide. His own question What will the world know of us if the Germans win? allowed him to fight through the struggle in the hopes of getting out alive one day and sharing the truth with the world; it would be the only way the truth emerged (Charters 150). What may seem immoral to people outside the camps is ordinary to those inside as proven by Henri s actions in the story. Ultimately, though, the two worlds are incomparable. Due to his need to collaborate with the S.S. soldiers in order to keep himself alive, many may consider that Borowski indeed played a huge part in the deaths of thousands of people when he could have taken a more noble route self immolation as the girl did in the story. This is hindsight bias, however, and does not take into account the terror that filled the prisoners. In a hope to see life beyond imprisonment, anyone would take part in this process. The survival of the fittest theory created by Charles Darwin analyzes organisms behavior towards one another and their environment to see who will thrive. In concentration camps such as Auschwitz, the only method of survival was assisting the S.S. soldiers if one was not already sentenced to death by default. • 4. How Does Peaceful Resistance Affect Society Peaceful Resistance Provides A Positive Impact When a law is believed to be unfair, some people express their opposition to the law peacefully. An effective way to voice one s opinion is through peaceful resistance or protest, which is protected under the first amendment. Many of the rights protected by the amendments were enacted because of peaceful resistance. Peaceful resistance, or protesting without using violence, is a positive way for people to voice their opinions and influence society. Peaceful resistance to laws impacts a free society in a more positive way than violent resistance, proven by James Otis and John Milton. In February 1761, James Otis represented the merchants of Boston and delivered a speech explaining how the Writs of Assistance violated the natural rights of the colonists, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James Otis resisted random searches of private property, now protected by the Fourth Amendment. John Milton is responsible for the freedoms held by citizens, now protected by the First Amendment. However, while this is evidence that peaceful resistance leaves a lasting impact on the law, the American Revolution provided many occasions when violent resistance was seen as effective. In Massachusetts, the only barracks available for use, on the mainland, did not provide enough room for the British soldiers to be sheltered in public buildings, and, therefore, they were housed in public tents in Boston (History.com Staff). British soldiers became annoyed with the patriotic colonists after living closely with them and began to fight and brawl with local Boston citizens (U S History.com. Quartering... ). The British soldiers became involved in the Boston Massacre and were responsible for killing five citizens (History.com Staff). This violent approach provided an effective means of protest, that reminded the Forefathers of the contradictions of the Quartering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Apprentice Is A Tv Arrangement The Apprentice is a TV arrangement, at the first event in the US with 16 applicants attempting to become the apprentice of the multibillionaire Donald Trump. The accomplishment of the arrangement was big to the point that few seasons were made after that, even outside the US. The show observes hopefuls divided into two groups, contending with one to another for a position to work for Donald Trump. Every week the applicants participate in performing multiple tasks assigned by Mrs. Trump, and every group will select a Project Manager for that assignment. Sir Trump and trusted helpers, George and Carla, will monitor the gatherings, and educate Sir Donald Trump how every group has performed and collaborate with the team members to reach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the absence of these elements can influence negatively on the team performance and develop a potential conflict. One of the big mistakes of versacorp that week was selecting Sam as a project manager, despite his reputation in the last two weeks as a follower. To lead the group, the team leader must have confidence, experience, and knowledge in managing and coordinating the skills, the efforts, and the actions equally between the group members in order to achieve the goal wanted. Sam did not have all these characteristics, which made his mission troublesome. But certain factors, like pressure, lack of skills, improper management styles, and biases can make team leaders weak (Retrieved from successvalues.com). Sam performance led his group to a confusion and disappointment, especially when he rejected to give a telephone number to his gathering when bill and Kwame were searching for the store area. Also, as a project manager, Sam did not motivate his team members by giving them helpful instructors to perform and to avoid committing errors. Leaders are supposed to be firm, decisive and empowering. They can also motivate their members without imposing or domineering (Retrieved from successvalues.com). • 6. Cost Of Professional Sports Essay Professional sports in the United States have served as a staple for consumer entertainment for over a century, while at the same time providing a sense of unity that a community can rally behind. When an owner wants to acquire or create a new franchise, they rely heavily on the surrounding community to help fund and support its creation. While many of these individuals have adequate funds to do this on their own, they argue that the community will reap a large expense of the reward from establishing a team and push the burden of large fixed costs on the community. Due to the unpredictable demand for professional sports, do the costs associated with a franchise outweigh the assumed risks placed on a community? When a professional sports team decides to move to a city, several factors are analyzed and required before their arrival. One of the more important decisions made is where will the team play? Accounting as one of the greatest expenses, constructing an arena or stadium is a fixed cost taken on by a local government and its community. Opened in the mid 1990 s, The Edward Jones Dome once served as a beacon of hope for the people of St. Louis for their newly acquired football team. Fans and taxpayers were promised that the acquisition of the team would generate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Things such as the stadium, players, and coaches are a few of the major fixed costs that are necessary for a team to exist. These costs are paid no matter what, regardless of whether there is any revenue. If a team tends to follow an unsuccessful track, the interest of the consumer deteriorates and potential revenue is lost along with it. • 7. Transgressions In Mervyn Leroy s The Bad Seed While the conclusion tacked onto the end of The Bad Seed didn t manage to change some of the less obvious themes in Mervyn LeRoy s 1956 film, the new ending put in place by conservative lobby groups affects the portrayal of transgressions from societal standards and taboos. The dramatic difference in the ending gives the film a strong message that transgressions can only be righted through an act of god. The fact that Rhoda is transgressive is still undeniably a part of the film. In fact, Rhoda could even be considered twice as transgressive: she is both a murderer and a child murderer, two separate taboos (Hendershot, p. 28). Further still, the fact that Rhoda does not deviate into any other major taboos at any point during the film a stark ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. How Did Philip II Change The Military Philip II took control of Macedon in 359 BC as Macedon was going through a deep crisis. On the verge of collapse with having recently lost 4,000 men and Persiccas killed in battle against invading Illyrians and his death opening several security threats, Macedon was in desperate need of a ruler. With the heir to the throne only an infant Philip persuaded the officials to recognise him as king in place of his infant nephew. Philip quickly realised the weakness of his country s army and drew upon past experiences to mould them into a supreme army. He effectively reformed the Phalanx, Cavalry, siege craft and weapons to gain military supremacy and hegemony. Before Philip, the Phalanx was extremely week with weapons, layout and manoeuvrability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The weapons and shield were big, bulky and impractical as seen by Philip. Philips reform to the use, and style of weapons made it easier and more effective for soldiers to fight. Similarly to how Philip changes the structure of the army from a citizen army to a professional army, he had to change the weaponry that was use. Previously as armies were citizen armies, each solider obtained their weaponry from themselves, resulting in a vast variety of styles and quality of weapons. Philip successfully changed this by creating a professional army, who was paid by the State and with everything provided by the State. This not only created unity within the men fighting by also new and uniform weapons, generating a better army. Weapons that Philip created that effectively lead the Macedonian army to success include the Sarissa. The Sarissa was a six meter long pike gave its wielder many advantages both offensively and defensively. The added length against enemies meant that a Macedonian solider could stab its enemy with the Sarissa while still being out of touch of the enemies pike. The Sarissa was effective as it kept the solider with safe distance from enemies; it was designed so that if or when it broke, it was able to be turned around and used again, hence the versatility of the weapon being vital and effective to the Macedonian army. Throughout the whole story, the main aim the narrator wants to reach is to revenge on Fortunato, who insulted him. Thus, the most interesting parts of the tale deal with the Montresor s techniques of trapping down his offender (Baraban 47). Unfortunately, he has never let Fortunato learn of his hatred. The entire narration takes a form of a slur that could induce such a well planned scheme of revenge. Adam Smith s Wealth Of Nations Thuy Hua PHIL 225 First Exegetical/Critical Paper Professor Michael Schleeter October 5, 2015 Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations For Smith, the value of all commodities that the market is supposed to promote is not come from the money price, but come from the amount of labor required to purchase them because nobody wants to purchase a good that is created with less effort. Therefore, the real value that the market needs to promote is the labor that is invested in the product. For example, in real life diamond or gold is very expensive but people do not really need them because without them, people still alive. On the other hand, water or food is not as expensive as diamond or gold, but they are very necessary in real life because we cannot survive without water and foods. According to Smith, to understand the difference from these prices, we can look at the amount of labor needed to bring these products to market. The money price of a particular community may fluctuate from a variety of reasons, but the amount of labor needed to purchase it remains constant. To promote that value, we should improve the division of labor, which is the greatest improvement in the productive power of labor. Also when Cho started writing gruesome poems short stories and plays he should have been recommended to a counselor. Any counselor that Cho had encounters with could have been a lot more persistent in getting to the bottom of Cho s situations. • 31. Analysis Of George Bergeron s The Novel Charlie Kaufman s upcoming adaptation Harrison Bergeron takes a different approach to the original short story. In the Vonnegut s story the year is 2081 and the world is finally equal or at least considered to be that way. Everyone wears handicaps to suppress whatever can give them an advantage, such as headpieces that stop a person from using their brain, weights to diminish strength, and masks to hide beauty. The short story looks at the lives of Hazel and George Bergeron living during this new era. They have a son named Harrison, but he was taken away before the events of the story. Largely, Vonnegut s story presents itself as a satire to communism; however Kaufman creates a darker much different perspective. During an early screening of Kaufman s adaptation the viewer only gets a glimpse of the beginning of the film. Kaufman begins the narrative using the same first line of the short story, the year was 2081 and the world was finally equal (Vonnegut 7). Yet, there is a noticeable dramatic difference, the narration is told through George s perspective. The choice is interesting because upon learning this fact the narration becomes bias. George s narration seems bitter and clearly the system he lives in is not one that he supports. Still, the perspective is interesting because there is a lot of static during the narrated moments, presumably from George s handicap. A smart choice as it allows the reader to understand what the handicap is like through George s eyes. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meaning the baby s head was down; however, unlike the usual presentation, he was facing forward instead of inward, toward Ms. Fielding s spine. At 12:30 a.m., Midwife Muhlhan attempted to expedite delivery while at Fielding s home. First, Midwife Muhlhan applied fundal pressure to Ms. Fielding two or three times. Second, Midwife Muhlhan injected Fielding multiple times with Pitocin, a hormone that increases the strength and frequency of contractions. Third, misjudging the state of her labor, Ms. Muhlhan performed an episiotomy, which is a procedure performed upon immediate delivery in which the perineum is cut in order to enlarge the vaginal opening. Finally, Ms. Muhlhan directed Fielding to cleanse herself with a probiotic treatment, as an alternative to taking antibiotics, in order to prevent the potentially fatal transmission of Group B streptococcus bacteria (for which she had tested positive), to the baby during labor and delivery. After providing these treatments, Midwife Muhlhan decided it was time to go to the hospital. Midwife Muhlhan sutured the episiotomy and called an ambulance. Rebecca Fielding arrived at the Hospital at 3:30 a.m. on March 26, 2010. Fielding was an unknown patient to the Hospital and was socioeconomically challenged. The Hospital s labor and delivery team evaluated Fielding s status and determined the best way to deliver her baby. The team also applied a fetal heart rate monitor. The medical records ...
