Gilgamesh Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Gilgamesh" can be both a challenging and rewarding
endeavor. The Epic of Gilgamesh is an ancient Mesopotamian literary masterpiece, and delving
into its intricacies requires a deep understanding of the historical context, cultural nuances, and
literary elements embedded in the text.
One of the initial challenges lies in deciphering the complex narrative structure of the epic. The
story spans a range of themes, from friendship and mortality to the pursuit of immortality.
Analyzing and synthesizing these themes into a cohesive essay demands a meticulous
examination of the text, as well as a keen ability to connect various episodes and characters to
form a comprehensive analysis.
Moreover, the historical and cultural backdrop against which Gilgamesh unfolds necessitates
research and contextualization. A successful essay on this topic requires a solid grasp of ancient
Mesopotamian society, beliefs, and traditions. Drawing parallels between the events in the epic
and the socio-cultural realities of the time is essential for providing a nuanced and insightful
interpretation.
The complexity of Gilgamesh as a character adds another layer of difficulty. Unraveling the
nuances of Gilgamesh's evolution throughout the narrative involves delving into his flaws,
virtues, and the impact of his interactions with other characters. Crafting a compelling argument
about the significance of Gilgamesh's character development demands a careful examination of
his relationships, motivations, and the cultural ideals he embodies.
Furthermore, constructing a thesis that goes beyond mere summarization requires critical
thinking and the ability to synthesize disparate elements of the epic into a unified perspective.
Balancing a deep analysis of specific episodes with a broader understanding of the epic's
overarching themes is key to presenting a well-rounded and insightful essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Gilgamesh" demands intellectual rigor, thorough
research, and a keen analytical eye. Navigating through the complexities of the epic and weaving
together a coherent and compelling narrative requires time, effort, and a deep appreciation for the
literary and cultural richness embedded in the text.

Federal Reserve Bank Of New York Essay
I.Introduction
According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP)
is a statement used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the
rest of the world by both private and public sectors for a specified time period,
usually every quarter or year. It is known as Balance of International Payment , it
involves all transactions between a country s residents and its non residents
involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of
the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a
country has paid or given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically,
the BOP should be zero, meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should
balance; however, in the reality, this is rarely the case.
The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account,
and the financial account (Reem Heakle, 2015).
1. The Current Account The current account refers to the export and import of goods
and services into a country. Within the current account are credits and debits on the
trade of merchandise, including goods such as raw materials and manufactured goods
that are bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services refer to receipts from
tourism, transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or
management consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income
generating assets such as stocks. Last but

Matching human resources with the present and the future is one of the main
problems faced by an organization. Human resources have a certain degree of
inflexibility, both in terms of their development and their utilization. It takes months

management personnel in the organizations, the process may take up to years to
nurture the candidate and making sure of the succession are being put in place.

Dbq Alien And Sedition Acts Of 1798
In 1798 the U.S Congress and the president John Adams passed the alien and
sedition acts. The acts restricted freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The
acts also gave the power to deport someone or race out of the country. It gave more
power to the federal government taking away state powers. Many people said that
the acts were unconstitutional but others did not.I believe that the acts violated the
constitution and this is why. In the bill of rights, it says Congress shall make no
law restricting and establishing religion or prohibiting the free exercise there for or
abridging the freedom of speech or press . No citizen shall follow this act because it
is in direct violation which means they have no force The states Kentucky
Schools Should Make Meals For Religious Freedoms
The School lunchroom, is it a place to observe religious freedoms? I think schools
should make meals for religious restrictions available in the school cafeteria, because
all students need to feel that schools care about them, this will make them feel
included without raising costs. This is being used in other states and an example of
that is California. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food, and NutritionService
have instructions that have been provided to everyone, but they leave it up to local
governments to do as they see fit. The document is more directed towards the Jewish
schools, institutions, and sponsors participating in the National School Lunch

In San Diego, Muslim residents are trying to get schools to serve Halal meals in

Their Tour ended with them learning about the Muslim tradition of Halal and
getting a demonstration of how it is prepared by some Muslim parents and

Gilmore Girls Mother Daughter Relationship
As an avid television viewer, it has always been easy to connect with certain shows
based on the characters. For some they become so dedicated to these characters and
these shows that a fandom through mediated text is formed. Gilmore Girls, a show
that ended many years ago, continues to inspire many. With its quick and witty humor
it is no surprise that many personalities quickly become admirers of the show. The
humor and story lines are not the main reason for the creation of such a large fan
community. Instead the relationships and it s ability to break through televisionnorms
draws in the attention of several individuals and families. Today Gilmore Girls fans
continue to blog, tweet, and discuss the strong mother daughter relationship that is...

never changed the mother daughter relationship of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. This
mother daughter relationship inspires many families especially mothers and
daughters to develop the same close nit friendship as the Gilmore Girls. One fan

when they were seen together it was very forced. These blogs allow women to

Immigration Happy Path Essay
Immigration Happy path?
Day in and day out, immigrants work hard to achieve permanent residency or
citizenship in the U.S. and live in constant fear. While some Americans understand
that the immigration strengthens the American society by attracting the intellectual
and entrepreneurs, others are taking it to social media to express their humor or anti
immigration feelings saying immigrants are a threat to Americans customs and
values. A few are even attacking immigrant groups with foul language and violence.
One such incident occurred just a few months ago in February, 2017. Patrons at a
Kansas bar kicked Adam W. Purinton, a US citizen and a Kansas resident, out because
he was questioning two Indian bar patrons immigration status and throwing racial
slurs at them. Angry Purinton returned to the bar with a handgun that same night and
shot at the two Indians, killing one and wounding the other. Later in court, the
indictment accused Purinton of shooting the two men because of their actual and
perceived race, color, religion and national origin. Not even two weeks later, an
Indian born man was outside his house in Seattle when an attacker shouted, Go back
to your own country before shooting him in the arm. Incidents like these are leaving
many Indian immigrants worried for themselves and their families. As an Indian born
immigrant myself, I feel the need to address the laborious immigration process, and
some underlying struggles the immigrants face.

Semiotic is a linguistic, it is a sign that can be applied to everything, which signs
are the interpretation of the proper social situation and general human beings. As
Berger mentioned in his article, Saussure suggested, semiotic can be interpreted as
signifier and signified, signifier is the objet itself and signified is the concept,

For designers, study of signs is very important, Bauhaus and Ulm both believed that
understand semiotics is the basic step before making a design, (Berger, 1994)
(Markgraf, 2012) advertisements ask audiences to understand the message but for
design, is opposite, designer has to understand what costumers need and also, what
message they want to added in.
In the advertisements, Aynsley has mentioned that it turns costumers to consumers,
the magic language used in the advertisement which is the signifier that hided

always forcing costumers to buy under commercial purpose and the message used in

Do you happen to know any 18 year olds that have written a research paper on
bioterrorism and ways to prepare for a bioterrorist attack? Do you happen to know
any 18 year olds that find public health, medical ethics, international relations, public
policy, and medical research fascinating? Although such topics may bore some, they
happen to excite me! I am currently a student at Christopher Newport University
(CNU), and I have realized that the opportunities available to me at CNU are
somewhat limited, in comparison to the opportunities George Mason University
provides. When I made the decision to go to CNU, I believed that merging pre med

I felt as though I didn t really love what I was studying, that I wasn t really
connecting with other students who shared my academic interests, and that my
options were limited when it came to exploring things I really had an interest in,
such as community/public health. I want to transfer to George Mason because of
the multicultural campus community, the excellent academic programs, and
because of Mason s ideal location. My uncle, Eugene Koranteng, attended Mason
after coming from Ghana to the USA, and made his mark as a triple jump record
holder. He told me that he wouldn t change a thing about his college experience! I
also have friends who attend George Mason and share with me new people they ve
met, as well as new cultures they ve learned about and embraced! Although Mason
s campus is large, George Mason still keeps class sizes small. I have realized in
going to CNU that a small campus is great, but when a campus is so small, the
people tend to be homogeneous. At Mason, I know that there is so much to do, to

Violating Cultural Norms
It was really difficult for me initially to select a norm I wanted to violate. I just
couldn t come up with anything even after hearing examples in class. And naturally, I
hate being the center of attention or doing anything that will get me noticed, but I
knew that I ll have to get over that to be able to complete this assignment. What is a
norm? According to sociology.about.com, a norm is the specific cultural
expectations for how to behave in a given situation. Norms vary across countries or
cultural groups. For example, in our society giving a thumbs up is just a gesture
that signifies approval or satisfaction but if I was to give the same gesture in the
Middle East, I would probably get dirty looks because it is considered offensive there.

I chose this because I believe that the way we choose to dress or style ourselves is a
reflection of who we are. People use fashion as a tool or medium to express who they
are, it might be motivated by religion, culture, location, demographic factors like
ethnicity, or even political stance. In our society today, we have the freedom to
dress however that pleases us. But, there are some ways of dressing that are not
considered normal or appropriate especially depending on the season, time of year, or
the occasion. The way we choose to dress influences how others perceive us. For
instance, if an individual wears a suit, people see him/her as a successful person or a
professional because suit is a part of the professional world or as some people say, a
suit is the uniform of success. For my norm violation, I went to a gathering filled
with family and friends in summer clothes last weekend. I told only my brother that
it was for a class I was taking. I had my coat and sweat pants in the car to wear
afterwards so that I didn t get sick. I remember before I left the house, my mother
pleaded with me to cover up more but I refused. I told her I was okay with the way I
was dressed. She tried to get me to change but I did not listen, I insisted on going to
the gathering the way I was dressed. I could already imagine the reactions of people
even before I did it. I believed people were definitely going to stare at me, some might
laugh at me, some might feel worried for me, and others might just have a look of

Disney Misogyny
In Disney films, there is a lot of misogyny amongst female main characters. Many
people in our society have noticed a significant difference in the speaking roles
between male and female characters that Disney created, as men had way more
lines than the women. Because these movies were mostly created in the mid late
1900 s, this was the time that there was plenty of prejudice against females. Now,
in the year 2017, females are getting a little more equality than before to the point
where many females now have jobs that were only for males in the 1900 s. Most
Disney movies for that matter involve some sort of misogyny, even the ones that
recently came out such as Brave and Frozen . Examples of various levels of
misogyny can be noticed in Disney films such as Arielin The Little Mermaid(1989),
directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The movie is about a 16 year old
mermaid who wants to live on land with a human Prince named Eric but is only
able to after making a dangerous wish with Ursula the Sea Witch to be a human for
three days. In this movie Ariel The Mermaid , prejudice can be seen in Ursula, by a
femalehaving too much authority, Ariel cannot speak, and Ariel uses her appearance
to attract others.
Firstly, Ursula the Sea Witch can be seen with a ton of power. The power turns
Ursula evil and manipulative, which shows that females that have too much power
should be removed from society, just like Ursula. ...And now, look at me wasted

Loren Hall Character Analysis
It seems as if nearly everyone goes through a difficult mission at least once in their
life. Walt Master s, for example, his task was saving Loren Hall s claim from the
stampeders . Farah Ahmedi, she undertook the mission of escaping from her war torn
country with her mother. While the narrator from, the cremationof Sam McGee ,
made a promise to his (now dead) friend that he would cremate his last remains.
Though these characters all have very different stories, they all have shown that they
have the perseverance to succeed in their quest and help those around them.

This was enough to impel ,her and her mother, to take risks to escape. Ahmedi and
her mother decide to flee their home in Kabul in search of a better life (Intro). Only
thanks to Ghulam Ali and his wife, did she and her mother get around the
Afghanistan border. The woman told us that her husband, Ghulam Ali, had gone to
look for another way across the border (par. 7). The astonishing thing is that
Ahmedi was able to undertake this mission and persevered even though she had her
own difficulties. Perhaps my mother s problems distracted me from my own. That
might account for it. Perhaps desperation gave me energy and made me forget the
rigor of the climb (par. 12). By helping her mother she inevitably helped herself,
distracted by her mother s bigger problems she was able to forget her own and
persevere through the journey.
The Speaker and his Friend Sam McGee are miners from Tennessee who want to
strike it rich in the Klondike. Although, not to long after the start of their journey
Sam McGee falls ill and makes The Speaker promise him something. Sam McGee
asked that once he died he would be cremated in irony of his icy death. So I want
you to swear that, foul or fair, you ll cremate my last remains (line 24). The
Speaker, knowing the harsh and surreal code of the klondike, wandered on through
the cold to fulfill his promise. Now a promise made is a debt unpaid, and the trail
has its own stern code, In the days to come, though my lips were dumb, in
Doctor Donald Haut s A Body Bag At Fort Marcy Park
Normally there is an extreme amount of blood that is found at the scene in most
self inflicted gunshot suicides. Strangely, that afternoon in Fort Marcy Park there
was little blood that was found on or around the Vincent Foster s body. Even more
bizarre was Doctor Donald Haut s coroner report. Dr. Haut is the coroner for
Fairfax County, Virginia and the only medical doctor that evaluated Foster s body.
Dr. Haut was quoted in the Fiske report as saying that he observed a large pool of
blood around the body at the crime scene. Although Dr. Haut denies that he ever
made a statement or was interviewed by a member of Fiske s investigative team
(Balough, 2015). Cory Ashford was one of the Fairfax County Emergency Medical
Technicians that was on the scene that day. In fact, Ashford was one of the
individuals that put Vincent Foster s into a body bag at Fort Marcy Park. Cory
Ashford told investigators that he did not use gloves nor did he have to wash his
hands after putting Foster s body into the body bag (Balough, 2015). Mr. Ashford
was one of four medical technicians that were present at Fort Marcy Park that day
and saw Vince Fosters body. None of the four of them recall seeing a hole in the top
or in the back of Foster s skull but they do recall seeing a puncture wound on the
lower right side of Foster s neck. It was described as a hole approximately the size of
a .22 caliber entrance wound. This fact was omitted from all of the reports.

Different Types Of Economic Systems
Define Different Types of Economic Systems Traditional economies are steered
through historical practise, often in which communities use original tools and
methods to harvest and hunt for food, resulting in very little economic growth.
Traditional economies have a tendency to operate in rural Third World countries
and appear to live in poverty even if their needs are being met. When traditional
economies interact with market or command economies, money plays an important
role, it enables those in the traditional economy to purchase better equipment to
make their farming, hunting or fishing more profitable. The United States had
many features of a traditional economy before the Great Depression. In the
beginning of the 20th century, 60% of the United Stated lived in farming
communities, whilst 41% of the workforce were employed by farms. Over farming
occurred in response to high demand from Europe after World War I. In addition
two thirds of Haiti s population relies on subsistence farming for their livelihood.
Their reliance on wood as a primary source of fuel has stripped the forests of trees.
This makes them vulnerable to natural disasters, such as the earthquake that struck

British Officials went through with this deportation. The British Officials conducted

This was one reason why the British conducted the expulsion of
Pittman 4 the Acadians because they could not have full control over them. The
British Officials wanted the Acadians to be loyal subjects to the King and be under
their control. The essence of the administration s position became clear: the Acadians
were told that their loyalty and obedience could best be properly demonstrated by
their immediately taking the Oath of Allegiance in the Commons from before the
Council [...], he based his opinions upon the question of their loyalty as subjects,
rather than upon their position as aliens (Griffiths, 126 127).
The British Officials wanted in ensure the Acadians were on their side and signing the
Oath would prove to the British Officials that they were. The British thought they
Acadians were a threat because they would not fall under their command. The British
demanded the Acadians to take this oath because it would also ensure the Acadians
would not take up arms against the British Empire. The legal argument over the link
between the oath of the allegiance and the rights of the Acadians as British had little
import for the immediate circumstances (Griffiths, 127). The British gave the
Acadians a chance to stay in Nova Scotia by agreeing to the Oath, but the Acadians
turned down that offer. Coming to these conclusions, the British Officials thought it
would be best to follow through with the removal of the
Brown Vs. Board Of Education
Segregated Children From the 1880s to about the mid 1960s segregation had
taken over American cities and towns. Segregation is the act of setting someone or
something apart from other people or things. In America, African Americans were
segregated from White people. Segregation was a result of the abolishment of
slavery twenty five years before. Whites still wanted to feel superior to the Blacks,
and without slavery to chain them down, they decided to begin segregation by
establishing Jim Crow laws. Jim Crow laws segregated Americans, by the color of
their skin, in all public facilities: schools, restaurants, hospitals, schools, restrooms
and more. In this essay I will be focusing on two main areas where segregation took

But they were very passionate to educate these young minds and creating a world
where they could have a dream to be educated and be whatever they want.
However, one court case would change the whole education system, Brown vs. The
Board of Education. When Linda Brown was denied access to an all white school in
Topeka, Kansas, her father claimed that it violated the Constitutions Equal Clause.
So the Court agreed that it violated the Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, this
was one of many initial steps to eliminating segregation in schools and eventually
eliminate segregation everywhere. This decision did not go over well with Whites,
for example when The Little Rock nine happened they were harassed by students
and by the parents. Little Rock nine were nine students that were involved in the
desegregation of a school, but the Whites did not like this so they tried to scare
them so the schools would not be integrated. Segregation in schools did not just
affect African American childrens education it also affected their childhood. As hard
as it was for adults to be segregated, it was even harder for the children to deal with
it. Segregation gave African American children the idea that they were beneath White
people, it had a profound affect on them, lowering self esteem. Tests were done to
examine how segregation impacted African
The Night By Elie Wiesel
In Night by Elie Wiesel, the author reflects on his own experience of being separated
from his family and eventually his own religion. This separation was not by any
means voluntary, they were forced apart during the Holocaust. Wiesel was a Jew
when the invasion of Hungary occurred and the Germans ripped members of his
religion away from their home in Sighet. A once peaceful community where Wiesel
learned to love the Kabbalah was now home to only dust and lost memories. Most
members of that Jewish community were never to return, hell greeted them with
open arms as they walked through the now rusty gates of Auschwitz. In order to
survive unimaginable circumstances that were enforced in these camps, a boy had to
hang on to his humanity. But by no means did humanity stay with the boy, being
subjected to the horror of concentration camps, Auschwitz and Buchenwald, Elie
Wieselsaw first hand how members of other communities attempt to silence
opposing voices. All of the pain that Wiesel saw inspired him to keep watch and
tell stories for people who wouldn t live on to tell them for their own families.
Stories are what keeps a person alive and through Eliezer s words that he puts down
many are able to get a sense of closure in knowing what occurred at these camps. One
story occurred on the first train ride away from home, a lady named Madame
Schächter was beaten up for crying out against imminent death, unseen by others.

The Pythagorean Theorem Was Discovered And First

Background:
The Pythagorean Theorem was discovered and first proven by the Greek
mathematician, Pythagoras. The Pythagorean Theorem states that the sum of the
squares of the two legs of a right triangle equals the square of the hypotenuse of the
triangle. In simpler words, when looking at the right triangle below, aВІ+bВІ=cВІ.
This major discovery in the history of mathematics lead to the accomplishments of
many other basic things we do in life. The Pythagorean Theorem does not just stop at
the famous equation of aВІ+bВІ=cВІ, but it has many other aspects. Whole numbers
that can fit into this theorem are commonly referred to as Pythagorean Triples. The
Pythagorean Theorem includes numerous amounts of poofs, from the basic proof to

Once the concept of the Pythagorean Triples was discovered, mathematicians were
eager to validate the concept. Euclid created a widely accepted formula in deriving a
Pythagorean Triple, which can be proved with the help of the unit circle and algebra.
Euclid s Formula and its Proof
Euclid s formula for a Pythagorean triple is: a = 2mn, b = m^2 n^2, c = m^2 + n^2
The variables: m and n: stand for positive, rational integers. It is important to
remember that m has to be greater than n, otherwise the statement valuing variable b
on a Pythagorean triangle would be false because b cannot
This can be understood in terms of the rational points on the unit circle. A unit circle
is a circle with the radius of 1.
We can draw a right triangle: a and b are the legs c is the hypotenuse
In the next part, we must use the trigonometric identity of sin2+cos2=1. For
representational purposes, we must look towards the following diagram for how the
triangle would be represented in this proof.
The next step in formulating this next equation would require us to find the sine and
cosine of triangleABC. The sine formula is opposite/hypotenuse, which would equate
to a/c. Additionally, the formula for cosine is adjacent/hypotenuse, equating to b/c.
Knowing the trigonometric identity, we can derive the new eqution:
For the next step, we will need to know the equation of a [unit] circle: x2 + y2 = 1
We know that
The Field Of Business Administration Essay
The field of business administration is not as straightforward as one may perceive.
While there is a specific process that business owners must undergo in order to start
up their own company, there is no exact right or wrong method to create and sustain
a successful business. It is ultimately up to us, as potential leaders of any
organization or project, to utilize our own personal values in order to help shape a
realistic vision that all of us can achieve together.
Because business administration is a competitive field, there are no grounds for
complacency; one has to constantly be enthusiastic about growth in order to progress.
An individual needs to know what he can and can not control, in order to improve on
the factors that can be controlled. A team needs to establish healthy relationships
within each individual, and then develop mutual respect and understanding for one
another. A corporation, with the direction of its leaders, needs to set clear, concrete,
reachable goals that everybody in the organization can accomplish.
The approach on how to organize, plan, and execute any given plan is subjective,
yet crucial. Starting up your own company takes patience and time; however, a
number of entrepreneurs tend to take out huge loans in an attempt to build a flashy
looking business with no business plan whatsoever. In fact, 33% of businesses will
fail in these first two crucial years, the main cause being a lack of experience
(Jorden). Therefore, a business s success

some of the specific issues in managing in a global setting, analyze issues that arise
when a manager does not understand and learn key components in managing, and
how managers can gain knowledge of these components and use them to manage in a

Ecological Economics Vs. Neoclassical Welfare Economics
Essay
Ecological Economics vs Neoclassical Welfare Economics
In the past, the economic school of thought regarded the resources as unlimited and
focused on more production under the light of the unlimited growth assumption.
Every economic action was suggested to only consider about making more profit.
While the economy and the human population are growing; more natural resources
are used and more pollution is observed. Human become to deal with the results of its
production such as environmental problems and resource scarcity. A debate has
emerged in economics and the mainstream economics is brought into question since
its unlimited growth assumption is collapsed. Ecological economists argue the
neoclassical welfare economics for ignoring the environmental and ethic values by
only focusing on the cost benefit analysis. It also claims that the neoclassical
economics fails to calculate the value of the environmental capital and the loss of the
economic activities on the environment. This paper is going to explain the problems
with the neoclassical welfare economics and the alternatives offered by the ecological
economics in terms of economic growth and environment.
The neoclassical welfare economics explains the economic production and behavior
by using the mainstream terms of economic literature. Specifically, it focuses on the
Pareto efficiency and suggests two theorems related to it. Firstly, the Pareto efficiency
is stated by maximization of preferences under a restricted
British Columbia’s Carbon Tax and its Impact on

In June of 2008, British Columbia became the first and only Canadian province to
introduce a carbon tax, and has been praised and scone by environmentalists,
economists, and politicians alike, arguing whether the tax is efficient or destructive
method of controlling greenhouse gas emissions. The liberal premier Gordon
Campbell introduced the carbon tax; its main purpose would be to enforce a carbon
tax to increase the price of consumption of fossil fuels within the province, the
philosophy behind the tax was to make taxes higher on the deemed environmentally
detrimental purchases and lessen the tax on the others. The carbon tax promised to
achieve this in a carbon neutral way, which meant that the revenue received from the
tax would be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stewart Elgie, a University of Ottawa law and economics professor and chair of the
green economy think tank Sustainable Prosperity suggests that British Columbia s
per capita fuel usage had fallen more than 4 per cent compared with the rest of
Canada and its economy (Ebner, McCarthy, 2011) Evidently it is reducing the
amount of green house gasses emitted by fossil fuel use. However this is not the
concern many had with the introduction of the tax, but the concerns were focused
upon the externalities caused by this and the effects it would have on the economy.
Three years since the carbon tax introduction and the Provincial level of GDP has
remained approximately the same, (Greenery in Canada: We have a winner) With
the provincial level of GDP remaining around the same, this suggests that at the very
worst the carbon tax has had no negative effects to the provincial economy.
Furthermore the tax also promised to remain carbon neutral and promised to cut
corporate and private income tax. British Columbia has become the province with
the lowest income tax regime and the lowest corporate tax regime (Greenery in
Canada: We have a winner). Although the carbon tax is being praised by many, it still
faces concerns as many still argue the ineffectiveness of the tax and what that means
for the province.
One major objection many economists have to the question of carbon tax
effectiveness is whether the taxes on carbon are high enough to create any change in

Why Manager Is Responsible For Controlling Or...
Motivation.
Manager is a person who is responsible for controlling or administering all or part of
a company or an organization. He or she is responsible for controlling the
activities, business dealings, tasks for the employee and more. Being a manager is
not an easy job. They have responsibilities like Staffing, creating jobs; reviewing
resumes and applications, interviewing new candidates, hiring, and firing. They are
responsible for communicating with employees to discuss about the company s
mission and goals and how the results are achieved. They will have to train new
employees and be able to evaluate the employee s progress. A manager s prime
responsibility is to the success of the company. His actions should all be poised
toward business growth. Companies hire managers to run daily operations, coach
employees, maintain quality control and ensure that its products and services are
fulfilling customer needs. Managers must constantly review the company s financial,
budgetary and production goals. In between all these responsibilities, managers do
often have difficulty in motivating employees. This has been increased a lot in recent
times compared to the 50 years ago. Some of the common challenges that managers

The Castle, Directed By Rob Sitch
The 1997 comedy film, The Castle , directed by Rob Sitch, is a classic Australian
film which pits the underdog individual against a large corporation. The low budget
film follows the fight of tight knit working class family, the Kerrigans, who face the
forced acquisition of their modest home by a government organisation. It can be
clearly seen that the director has positioned audiences to see the Kerrigans as
praiseworthy characters. This is shown through the narrativeelements, stylistic
features, and constructedness of the plot.

It is easy to crumble when the worst happens to people, but Sitch has created the plot
so that the Kerrigans will not bow down to the nightmare of compulsory acquisition.
This must be considered praiseworthy and the Australian way. The director has the
Kerrigans, Darryl especially, use down to earth quotes commonly used in Australia to
portray them as a powerful, Aussie family, such as, This is going straight to the pool

PESTEL Analysis Of Mexico s Dependence On The US

While Mexico has been a formal democracy since Independence, in reality the nation

Mexican dependence on the U.S. is notable. After the failure of the drive to diversify
trade patterns in the 1970s and eighties (the local equivalent of Canada s Third

and protectionist economy. From opposition to excessive U.S. dependence, Mexico
moved to welcome it as inevitable. With time, the Mexican economy became even
more dependent on the United States than the Canadian economy.2
Presently the United States represents well over 80% of total Mexican trade. Such

Nicola Pisano s son, Giovanni, designed the Duomo s Facade. The Marble facade,
on the southwest side or the main entrance, has the most controversy over how,
when, and even who, build it. Scholars have agreed that the lower facade under the
direct supervision of Giovanni was built between 1284 to 1296, but the perceived
flaw in design of the facade: namely, the vertical misalignment of the piers framing
the center portal in the lower story and those framing the rose window in the upper
story (Gillerman), of the facade have brought up different theories on how it came
to be. Some believe that this discontinuity of the facade is to be a response of
Giovanni s explosive personality, while others, based more on the date of
construction being later (1314), believe that it was understood to be a change in
artistic leadership. There is a connection from the exterior to the interior where
Giovanni followed his father s style continuing the sculpted figures. They can be
seen covering every ledge and corner of the facade. Each statue on the facade is
accompanied by an inscription. There also were sculpted animals, including, lions

The Challenges, Solutions, Models, Tools And Tools
Introduction
This paper presents a systematic literature review of the challenges, solutions,
models, tools and an example in Distributed Software Development (DSD). The
objective is to collect and systematize reported knowledge in terms of what are the
difficulties in managing DSD projects, what are the best practices to overcome these
difficulties, and how existing models and tools support these practices.
The DSD is a phenomenon with considerable interest from companies all over the
world where the stakeholders from different national and organizational cultures are
involved in developing software. As part of the globalization efforts currently
pervading society, software project team members have become geographically
distributed. However, DSD is technologically and organizationally complex and
presents a variety of challenges to be managed by the software development team. [1]
As distributed environments have become the norm for software development,
coordinating the efforts of development teams has become one of the biggest
challenges faced by the enterprise today. It is hard to imagine any sizable
development project managed without an underlying software configuration
management tool.Teams situated at different geographical locations, including
offshore, collaborate using communication technologies to develop interrelated
software modules that are integrated in shared project workspaces. The software
design process involves many iterative cycles of development

Contribution Of Vladimir Lenin
To the Russian people Vladimir Lenin was an important historical figure and the
creator of the Soviet System. Lenin was not always a radical revolutionary, but he
transformed into one after reading the books that his older brother had in his
library. Lenin s older brother was executed as a radical by the regime which
created an early hatred for the Tsar. Lenin was the leader of the Bolshevik party
and helped to rally support to the party even while in exile through the multiple
pieces of writing that he produced. Lenin helped to promote the revolution in 1905
and was only stopped by the outbreak of World War One. While the tsarist
Government survived the revolution in 1905 they would fail to do so in the
February Revolution which occurred in 1917. After the Tsar fell a provisional
government was set up which floundered and failed while Lenin and his Bolsheviks
gained power. After being sent back to Russia by Germany, Lenin created his April
Thesis which said that the power should be transferred to his soviet socialist party. At
first, the Bolsheviks were a minority but by September 1917 they gained the majority
and took the power from the provisional government in the October Revolution. After
the Revolution, a civil war broke out between the Bolshevik Red army and the anti
Bolshevik White army. Which the Reds eventually won with the leadership of Leon

Analysis of an Affair in Anton ChekhovВґs The Lady with

Anna and Dmitri are two people with a strong desire to be together, but this is
conflicted by reality. Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love
that they share for one another represents the struggle that one may face wanting
to break away from reality. Dmitri was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife
quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his only reasoning for this. Dmitri
was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an affair with.
Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the
story as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He
referred to women as an inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other
hand, was new to the idea of being unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even
though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she convinced herself that it was not real love
that they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and Dmitri changed the way they
felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial relationship with
his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more. Once
he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and
light. The more exciting his life became in Yalta with Anna, the more dull and
uninteresting his life back home became. His thoughts portray to the reader that he
believes Anna is the perfect contender for an affair. The author of the story, Chekov,

challenges emerged that had be to be resolved and it was the purpose of the alliance
teams to solve such issues. Beginning in February 2002, a formal contract to expand
the HP and Cisco alliance was being negotiated and it was during this time that
several important challenges emerged that would require the full attention of Mr.

Therefore Mr. Heal and Mr. Thomas will need to develop a joint business plan
whereby both firms can leverage the alliance without impeding on creativity, future
development, or current product offerings. A third challenge facing Mr. Heal and
Mr. Thomas is the issue of a sales force that is properly setup to accommodate the
strategic alliance. On page six of the case, we learn that the HP Microsoft and IBM
Cisco alliances both utilized dedicated sales staff. We also learn that in Europe, HP
used a specialized, dedicated sales force for selling HP services bundled with Cisco
products. (Page 6) In fact, Elias Stephan, who was then HP services group s global
alliance director, noted that In Europe, the relationship with the field is much
better. (Page 6) If both HP and Cisco were used to utilizing dedicated sales staff
with strategic alliances, what incentive was there for both firms to break the trend
when dealing with an HP Cisco alliance? Page eight of the case begins to outline
some of the challenges that the HP Cisco alliance had already faced concerning the
sale of joint products. For example, we learn that at HP, Cisco products did not
count towards a sales representative s quota and this resulted in a decline in sales of
Cisco equipment by HP sales representatives. Further, if HP or Cisco sales staff had
to master not only their parent company product line,

Analysis Of Piano And Hide And Seek
Piano and Hide and seek show fond, vivid memories of childhood. The writers
have obviously lived a happy life as they write in a joyful tone; this reflects the
sentiment of Christie s quotation. In contrast A Mother in a refugee camp and
Prayer before Birth describe the horror of growing up in a poor environment.
Prayer before Birth indicates that life is a lottery and it is a matter of luck whether
you avoid the hardships and pain of life. However If tries to guide the child away
from making mistakes. If, describes growing up to be a good and happy person,
rather than a fulfilled childhood.
Prayer before Birth is a dark and disturbing poem written from the point of view of
the unborn child who is preaching to God that when he is born, hoping he is not
affected by the horrors of society. Macneice s negative views towards current society
are shown through the fetus spiteful thoughts; in the fifth stanza, Macneice lists how
the unborn child wants to avoid bureaucrats hectoring him, avoid being laughed at
by lovers and not be frowned at by mountains this portrays how paranoid the fetus is.
Not only is he worried about being judged by ordinary people, but also the landscape
surrounding him. The influence of nature will affect his unspoilt unborn form, but he
should not be looking at it pessimistically. One of the most powerful effects used by
Macneice is the repetition of the phrase I am not born yet. This emphasises the fact
that he has not yet

PART 1
Begin by viewing the following Thinkwell video
15.1.8 CIA Demonstration: Weighing on an Analytical Balance
After you watch the above video, answer the questions below in sufficient detail:
(a) (2 pts) What are the features of an electronic balance? Include all of those
discussed in the video.
Answer: There were two features of an electronic balance discussed in this video.
First there is the electronic read out which makes the measurement very accurate and
the tare feature which can reset the balance to zero when something such as a

How and why does it work? Be clear and specific.
Answer: Distillation is a method for separating a liquid from a solid or from another
liquid in which the liquid is boiled off and then recondensed (Yee, n.d.,
Distilliation). It works because the substance you are looking to distill is boiled off
recondensed and separated. It can be used to purify liquids from solids or from other
liquids (Yee, n.d., Distillation).
(b) (2 pts) Describe the apparatus and setup for a distillation. Include all components.
Answer: The distillation apparatus consists of a round bottom flask connected
through an adapter to a condenser, which is connected through another adapter to a
second round bottom flask (Yee, n.d., Distillation). There is a thermometer connected
through the thermometer adapter at the top (Yee, n.d., Distillation). There is also a
vacuum adapter and a heating mantle. The heating mantle is a coil which heats
through electrical resistance (Yee, n.d., Distillation). You use cold water and make
sure that it goes in through the bottom and out through the top (Yee, n.d., Distillation).
(c) (2 pts) Imagine that you wanted to perform a distillation at your own home
(remember, distillation as a technique is not illegal it is only illegal if you use it to
produce alcohol), but you did not have the fancy lab equipment that you saw in the
video. How could you do it? How could you improvise in terms of equipment?

The Failure Of NASA
NASA failed to respond to internal procedures of operation led to Columbia disaster
causing the death of seven astronauts who were on board. This then led to the
suspension of flights via space shuttles for a period of about two years which was an
opportunity to investigate what caused the failure of NASA. The space craft wing had
been breached by a foam that fell from the external tank of the shuttle (Howell,
2013). Failure of NASA was clear as the issue of the foam had occurred before
therefore NASA was supposed to have come up with a way of preventing the fatal
situation from occurring again. NASA officials are alleged to have declined the

Jimmy Cross Struggles In The Things They Carried
Being responsible for the lives of the Alpha Company men proves to be demanding
enough without the proper guidance, a struggle Jimmy Cross must learn to cope with
while learning to cope with his own personal grievances. Tim O Brien s short story,
The Things They Carried, highlights Cross daily distractions from his duty to these
men and the consequences he faces because of his actions. As Cross leads his platoon
through the Vietnam War, the story explains the necessities everyone must carry for
their respective positions in the platoon. Along with the physical weight the soldiers
must carry, the story sheds light on the unseen, emotional baggage that the men carry

without willing it, he was thinking about Martha. . .Kneeling, watching the hole, he
tried to concentrate on Lee Strunk and the war, all the dangers, but his love was
too much for him, he felt paralyzed, he wanted to sleep inside her wings and

Allen Distribution Company
| Case 1: Allen Distribution Company| Would we extend the $1,000 credit line to the
Morse Photo Company?| | | 11/27/2010|
Introduction to Case problem and important points to be covered
The core problem for Allen Distribution Company is how to distinguish from the
marginal accounts the difference between good creditors and bad creditors.
Especially we show how the difference between creditors can be utilized in practice
by the credit representatives. For this we provide clear guidelines. The option of
extending the Morse Photo Company s $ 1000 credit line is used as test case for
these purposes.
To distinguish customers we divide the accounts to different categories. There are two
important points of views which in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It exceeds the Allen Electricity s required rate of return. Thus it is reasonable to
continue assessing this particular credit line. If an account does not exceed the
required rate of return in best case scenario the account should be rejected in this
phase. In the other hand if a company is a big and loyal customer its examination
should be also continued even if it does not exceed completely the required rate of
return. Nevertheless, we do not look at these situations more thoroughly since we are
concentrating on marginal account evaluation process.
Financial situation of Morse Photo Company and expected return of credit line
To asses Morse Photo Company s financial situation and creditworthiness we
examine some key figures and use Z score model.
Morse Photo Company is rated as wolf according to Z score, so we need to continue
its examination. If it were rated bull, we could have completed its examination and
extended the credit line. In the other hand in this phase all bear rated companies
accounts should be rejected.
Next step is to assess the Morse Photo Company s probability to default and use it as
basis for calculating expected profit for granting credit.

Biography of Wyatt Earp Essay
Biography of Wyatt Earp
Wyatt Earp, born Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, was born on March 19, 1848 in
Manmouth, Illinois to Nicholas and Virginia Earp. When Wyatt was two, his
parents moved him across the Mississippi River to Pella, Iowa. He was considered
a great western lawman. His first experience as a lawman was as a constable of
Lamar, Missouri for four months in the year 1870. In April, 1875, he was
appointed to the Wichita Kansas police force only to be released from that job on
April 2, 1876 for insubordination. After that, Wyatt moved to Dodge City, Kansas
where he served as a police man three separate times. The first time he served from
May 17 until September 9, 1876; the second time he served was from July 6 until ...

A very historical event occurred soon after Wyatt took the detective job with
Wells, Fargo Company; the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This event is very
controversial even today. According to the name of the event, the shutout occurred
in the back entrance of the O.K. Corral. Yet, according to the research that I have
done, the shootout actually occurred about half a block over from the O.K. Corral
in the side yard of ex mayor William A. Harwood and from there it spread out into
the middle of Fremont
Street. Of course, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral sounds much better than the
Gunfight in Harwood s Yard and Fremont Street so I guess someone decided to
change it. O.K. Corral has much more of a Western ring to it. Personally, I think the
Gunfight in Tombstone sounds pretty good, but there s no point trying to change it
now.
Virgil, Wyatt s older brother, was Tombstone s city marshal at the time of the
shootout.
He was also a deputy U.S. marshal. At the time of the gunfight, Wyatt considered
himself a saloonkeeper, since he had a piece of the gambling winnings at the Oriental
Saloon. This event included four of the Old West s best known law enforcers and
also some of the Old West s best known villains . The three Earp brothers; Virgil,
Wyatt and
Morgan all participated in the gunfight with Doc Holliday at their side. John Doc
Holliday was a good friend of Wyatt s plus he had a
Analysis Of The Book The Of Wyoming
In the northern part of Wyoming there is a park that holds a long history, both
good and bad. Stories of spirits come from the park and one of the stories is
centered around one of the hotels in the park. Whispers of a poorly wronged soul
who wanders the hotel and while normally a peaceful spirit, she is still capable of
violence. Though we will discuss this later. In the frigid Winter, the year of which
escapes my knowledge, a young manand few of his friends stayed at the hoteland left
with an experience they ll never forget or never want to recall.
The young man, who we ll call Smith to protect his identity, recounted to me the
following tale of the Winter vacation that, as he said, could not even have gotten
worse. At the time Smith was a very healthy lad of 26 who was spending his winter
break with his four friends (I ll use alternate names for them as well). The first of
his friends was a tall well built man we ll call Jack, he, like Smith, was a healthy
young man though Jack was a few months shy of Smith s age. As well as physical
strength, Jack was also highly intelligent, reading a complex math problem like a
child would their children s book. Smith s next friend was a beautiful young
woman who ll be referred to as Jane. Jane was a nature enthusiast who chose to go to
Yellowstone for Winter break. She also cared deeply for Smith, as did many Girls,
though Jane s feelings were the strongest and purest for him. His last friend was a
man we ll say is called John.
Analysis Of Toast To Fortunato
A giant is afraid of insects.
This is situational irony because, it is ironic that a person that is a lot bigger than
almost everything, is afraid of little insects that are way smaller than he/she is. That
would not be commonly expected.
A girl is crying. Her best friend says, You re real happy, aren t you?
This is verbal irony because the friend knows that her best friend isn t really happy,
and she is being sarcastic.
After several weeks of 100 degree weather, the forecast is for temperatures in the

The narrator toast to Fortunato s long life.
This is situational irony because when people toast they are celebrating in a way, and
the fact that the narrator was toasting to it is ironic because he ended up killing him.
Fortunato s jester attire becomes his funeral attire. He is masquerading as a fool, and
he is taken for one.
This is situational irony because, that is the attire that he wears when he fools them
into letting him kill them, so that creates their funeral also.
Montresor implores Fortunato to return and not go any farther, telling him that his
health is precious.
This is verbal irony because Montresor is being sarcastic in a way because he really
doesn t care about Fortunato s health because he plans on killing him anyways.

Macquarie soon intends to withdraw its investment in the business, initiating

everyone. The story I read shows us several different ways of what love is and how

There are thousands of ways to show love.In the book, The Giving Tree, the tree
shows its love for the boy through the act of giving. But I have no money. I have
only leaves and apples. Take my apples, Boy, and sell them in the city. Then you
will have money and you will be happy. I wish that I could give you something. But
I have nothing left. I am just an old stump.I am sorry... Well, said the tree,

house. Then you will be happy. Everything the tree has, was given to the boy to
make him happy. When the boy would come and plead for supplies, the tree would
not think twice about her decisions. If they would hurt her, or leave her with less,
all she would think about was how could I provide for this boy, how can I show
him I love him and want to make him happy.I bet you have someone so special to
you, that all you want to do is make them happy. For most of us, this would be our

The Domestic Work Of African American Women
United States southeast region can be described as unique when it comes to its
economic system and its social structure due to the multiple political and
constitutional problems these structures have created. The most important factor of
these problems raised could be said that was the social structure, regarding the
interaction between the different social groups of this southeastern community. From
the conflicts that aroused between the different White European settlers, to the
adjustment of the African Americans to labor, the southerner society, or community,
was created. The commodification of the domestic work of African Americanwomen
affected in great ways their performance in white households, as well as their
portrayal in advertisements, where they were shown to be a need to white
southerners during the 1920 s. Although these advertisements approached the public
with the idea that domestic work was a necessity, the advances in society made of
their work one that day by day became less needed.
The problems of race the United States confronted are deeply imbedded in the
historical past of the nation. Due to the fact that a great majority of the nation s
African Americans lived in former slave states, white southerners constantly came up
new ways to impose white supremacy on their black neighbors. Consequently, black
southerners fought back against unequal treatment, discrimination, and the violent
white people who executed racial massacres. After the
To What Extent Did Railroads Affect The Mexican Economy

Section 1 Identification and Evaluation of Sources (499) The research question
that is being addressed is How did the development of railroads between 1865 to
1929 impact the Mexican economy? . The first source s origin is a book that is
titled The Civilizing Machine: A Cultural History of Mexican Railroads, 1876 1910
written by Michael Matthews. This source helped a lot in the process of gaining
information because the information was written in a way that could be understood
clearly. The purpose of this source is to inform the general public about what had

The purpose of this website was to inform the reader about the era of when Porfirio
DГaz was in office and how he had affected the country as a whole. The value of
this source was that there was a lot of information on this era so there would be a
lot to use. A limitation is that there is no known author so there it not much to do
if there were a question about information about the details in the article. The
source comes from a government run website which makes this a credible site.
The third, and last, source is an essay called Impact of Railroads in Mexico and
India written by Nick Cannon as a part of his series, Edges of Empire . The
purpose of this essay was to compare and contrast what was happening economically
in both Mexico and India. It showed their similarities and differences in a way where
each country had their own little section as to what specifically happened in that
country. The value of this article is the fact that although it is comparing Mexico to
India, there is a lot of information that shows just how advanced the railroads made
Mexico in comparison to another country, in this case India. There were definitely a
big limitation. Since there was comparing and contrasting in the whole essay, it was
difficult to understand what the author was trying to say. It seemed as though the
essay was a bit rushed due to the fact that the author was trying to give information
about both countries. Section 2 Investigation
Prevention And Control Of Amoebic Dysentery
Prevention and control of Amoebic dysentery necessitate taking many approaches
depending on resources. Moreover, the involvement of national and international
programs to deal with sanitation, food and water supply is of paramount importance.
At the core of any preventive program there should be concrete efforts to improve
environmental sanitation and proper disposal of fecal matter. However, these two
factors will remain a challenge for impoverished communities that lack infrastructure,
sewage and drainage systems. International organizations and foreign governments,
given resources and experience, can play crucial roles in mitigating the environmental
factor. Local governments should be encouraged to spend more on sanitation. At the
present, the medical staff plays the most prominent role in the prevention and control
of Amoebiasis in impoverished countries. Albeit their role is confined to diagnosis
and treatment. Usually the paramedic at a community clinic or a medical center is
the forefront in the fight. Upon recognition of the disease based on symptoms, they
refer patients for a local hospitals or sometimes hand out medication themselves.
Laboratories in many developing countries depend on microscopy and culture for the
diagnosis of Amoebiasis. However, due to morphological similarities between E.
Histolytica and other non pathogenic Entamoeba types misdiagnoses are likely. Most
of the newer more sensitive and specific tests are do not exist in

Gilgamesh Essays.pdf

  • 1. Gilgamesh Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Gilgamesh" can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The Epic of Gilgamesh is an ancient Mesopotamian literary masterpiece, and delving into its intricacies requires a deep understanding of the historical context, cultural nuances, and literary elements embedded in the text. One of the initial challenges lies in deciphering the complex narrative structure of the epic. The story spans a range of themes, from friendship and mortality to the pursuit of immortality. Analyzing and synthesizing these themes into a cohesive essay demands a meticulous examination of the text, as well as a keen ability to connect various episodes and characters to form a comprehensive analysis. Moreover, the historical and cultural backdrop against which Gilgamesh unfolds necessitates research and contextualization. A successful essay on this topic requires a solid grasp of ancient Mesopotamian society, beliefs, and traditions. Drawing parallels between the events in the epic and the socio-cultural realities of the time is essential for providing a nuanced and insightful interpretation. The complexity of Gilgamesh as a character adds another layer of difficulty. Unraveling the nuances of Gilgamesh's evolution throughout the narrative involves delving into his flaws, virtues, and the impact of his interactions with other characters. Crafting a compelling argument about the significance of Gilgamesh's character development demands a careful examination of his relationships, motivations, and the cultural ideals he embodies. Furthermore, constructing a thesis that goes beyond mere summarization requires critical thinking and the ability to synthesize disparate elements of the epic into a unified perspective. Balancing a deep analysis of specific episodes with a broader understanding of the epic's overarching themes is key to presenting a well-rounded and insightful essay. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Gilgamesh" demands intellectual rigor, thorough research, and a keen analytical eye. Navigating through the complexities of the epic and weaving together a coherent and compelling narrative requires time, effort, and a deep appreciation for the literary and cultural richness embedded in the text. • 3. Federal Reserve Bank Of New York Essay I.Introduction According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP) is a statement used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the rest of the world by both private and public sectors for a specified time period, usually every quarter or year. It is known as Balance of International Payment , it involves all transactions between a country s residents and its non residents involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a country has paid or given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically, the BOP should be zero, meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should balance; however, in the reality, this is rarely the case. The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account, and the financial account (Reem Heakle, 2015). 1. The Current Account The current account refers to the export and import of goods and services into a country. Within the current account are credits and debits on the trade of merchandise, including goods such as raw materials and manufactured goods that are bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services refer to receipts from tourism, transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or management consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income generating assets such as stocks. The acts also gave the power to deport someone or race out of the country. It gave more power to the federal government taking away state powers. • 6. Schools Should Make Meals For Religious Freedoms The School lunchroom, is it a place to observe religious freedoms? I think schools should make meals for religious restrictions available in the school cafeteria, because all students need to feel that schools care about them, this will make them feel included without raising costs. This is being used in other states and an example of that is California. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food, and NutritionService have instructions that have been provided to everyone, but they leave it up to local governments to do as they see fit. For some they become so dedicated to these characters and these shows that a fandom through mediated text is formed. Gilmore Girls, a show that ended many years ago, continues to inspire many. With its quick and witty humor it is no surprise that many personalities quickly become admirers of the show. The humor and story lines are not the main reason for the creation of such a large fan community. Instead the relationships and it s ability to break through televisionnorms draws in the attention of several individuals and families. When looking through these blogs and accounts it becomes apparent that it is mostly females rewriting the story, Jenkins explains, The practice of fan writing, the compulsion to expand speculations about characters and story events beyond textual boundaries, draws heavily upon the types of interpretive strategies more common to the feminine than to the masculine (7). This phenomenon can explain why fans never changed the mother daughter relationship of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. This mother daughter relationship inspires many families especially mothers and daughters to develop the same close nit friendship as the Gilmore Girls. One fan states I was excited that I was finally able to connect with a mother daughter relationship on television (My Mom and I Are the Gilmore Girls IRL). These blogs allow women to connect not only about this relationship but also their own relationships with their
  • 8. Immigration Happy Path Essay Immigration Happy path? Day in and day out, immigrants work hard to achieve permanent residency or citizenship in the U.S. and live in constant fear. While some Americans understand that the immigration strengthens the American society by attracting the intellectual and entrepreneurs, others are taking it to social media to express their humor or anti immigration feelings saying immigrants are a threat to Americans customs and values. A few are even attacking immigrant groups with foul language and violence. One such incident occurred just a few months ago in February, 2017. Patrons at a Kansas bar kicked Adam W. Purinton, a US citizen and a Kansas resident, out because he was questioning two Indian bar patrons immigration status and throwing racial slurs at them. Angry Purinton returned to the bar with a handgun that same night and shot at the two Indians, killing one and wounding the other. Later in court, the indictment accused Purinton of shooting the two men because of their actual and perceived race, color, religion and national origin. Not even two weeks later, an Indian born man was outside his house in Seattle when an attacker shouted, Go back to your own country before shooting him in the arm. Incidents like these are leaving many Indian immigrants worried for themselves and their families. As an Indian born immigrant myself, I feel the need to address the laborious immigration process, and some underlying struggles the immigrants face. According to Pew

Zhaoqing Wan 25081667 Semiotic is a linguistic, it is a sign that can be applied to everything, which signs are the interpretation of the proper social situation and general human beings. As Berger mentioned in his article, Saussure suggested, semiotic can be interpreted as signifier and signified, signifier is the objet itself and signified is the concept, which codes is to help audience to understand. For designers, study of signs is very important, Bauhaus and Ulm both believed that understand semiotics is the basic step before making a design, (Berger, 1994) (Markgraf, 2012) advertisements ask audiences to understand the message but for design, is opposite, designer has to understand what costumers need and also, what message they want to added in. In the advertisements, Aynsley has mentioned that it turns costumers to consumers, the magic language used in the advertisement which is the signifier that hided under the signified has create a utopia for people, the code used in advertisement is always forcing costumers to buy under commercial purpose and the message used in it is always considering to be understand by a wide range of people instead of create a sign for certain cultural contents. • 10. George Mason University Do you happen to know any 18 year olds that have written a research paper on bioterrorism and ways to prepare for a bioterrorist attack? Do you happen to know any 18 year olds that find public health, medical ethics, international relations, public policy, and medical research fascinating? Although such topics may bore some, they happen to excite me! I am currently a student at Christopher Newport University (CNU), and I have realized that the opportunities available to me at CNU are somewhat limited, in comparison to the opportunities George Mason University provides. When I made the decision to go to CNU, I believed that merging pre med and political sciencewould be similar to a public health undergraduate experience. I soon realized that... He told me that he wouldn t change a thing about his college experience! I also have friends who attend George Mason and share with me new people they ve met, as well as new cultures they ve learned about and embraced! Although Mason s campus is large, George Mason still keeps class sizes small. I have realized in going to CNU that a small campus is great, but when a campus is so small, the people tend to be homogeneous. At Mason, I know that there is so much to do, to learn, as well as, so many different people to
  • 11. Violating Cultural Norms It was really difficult for me initially to select a norm I wanted to violate. I just couldn t come up with anything even after hearing examples in class. And naturally, I hate being the center of attention or doing anything that will get me noticed, but I knew that I ll have to get over that to be able to complete this assignment. What is a norm? According to sociology.about.com, a norm is the specific cultural expectations for how to behave in a given situation. Norms vary across countries or cultural groups. For example, in our society giving a thumbs up is just a gesture that signifies approval or satisfaction but if I was to give the same gesture in the Middle East, I would probably get dirty looks because it is considered offensive there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I chose this because I believe that the way we choose to dress or style ourselves is a reflection of who we are. People use fashion as a tool or medium to express who they are, it might be motivated by religion, culture, location, demographic factors like ethnicity, or even political stance. In our society today, we have the freedom to dress however that pleases us. But, there are some ways of dressing that are not considered normal or appropriate especially depending on the season, time of year, or the occasion. The way we choose to dress influences how others perceive us. For instance, if an individual wears a suit, people see him/her as a successful person or a professional because suit is a part of the professional world or as some people say, a suit is the uniform of success. For my norm violation, I went to a gathering filled with family and friends in summer clothes last weekend. I told only my brother that it was for a class I was taking. I had my coat and sweat pants in the car to wear afterwards so that I didn t get sick. I remember before I left the house, my mother pleaded with me to cover up more but I refused. I told her I was okay with the way I was dressed. She tried to get me to change but I did not listen, I insisted on going to the gathering the way I was dressed. I could already imagine the reactions of people even before I did it. I believed people were definitely going to stare at me, some might laugh at me, some might feel worried for me, and others might just have a look of shock or disbelief on their
  • 12. Disney Misogyny In Disney films, there is a lot of misogyny amongst female main characters. Many people in our society have noticed a significant difference in the speaking roles between male and female characters that Disney created, as men had way more lines than the women. Because these movies were mostly created in the mid late 1900 s, this was the time that there was plenty of prejudice against females. Now, in the year 2017, females are getting a little more equality than before to the point where many females now have jobs that were only for males in the 1900 s. Most Disney movies for that matter involve some sort of misogyny, even the ones that recently came out such as Brave and Frozen . Examples of various levels of misogyny can be noticed in Disney films such as Arielin The Little Mermaid(1989), directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The movie is about a 16 year old mermaid who wants to live on land with a human Prince named Eric but is only able to after making a dangerous wish with Ursula the Sea Witch to be a human for three days. In this movie Ariel The Mermaid , prejudice can be seen in Ursula, by a femalehaving too much authority, Ariel cannot speak, and Ariel uses her appearance to attract others. Firstly, Ursula the Sea Witch can be seen with a ton of power. The power turns Ursula evil and manipulative, which shows that females that have too much power should be removed from society, just like Ursula. ...And now, look at me wasted away to practically

While the narrator from, the cremationof Sam McGee , made a promise to his (now dead) friend that he would cremate his last remains. Ahmedi and her mother decide to flee their home in Kabul in search of a better life (Intro). Only thanks to Ghulam Ali and his wife, did she and her mother get around the Afghanistan border. The woman told us that her husband, Ghulam Ali, had gone to look for another way across the border (par. 7). The astonishing thing is that Ahmedi was able to undertake this mission and persevered even though she had her own difficulties. Perhaps my mother s problems distracted me from my own. That might account for it. Perhaps desperation gave me energy and made me forget the rigor of the climb (par. 12). By helping her mother she inevitably helped herself, distracted by her mother s bigger problems she was able to forget her own and persevere through the journey. The Speaker and his Friend Sam McGee are miners from Tennessee who want to strike it rich in the Klondike. Although, not to long after the start of their journey Sam McGee falls ill and makes The Speaker promise him something. Sam McGee asked that once he died he would be cremated in irony of his icy death. So I want you to swear that, foul or fair, you ll cremate my last remains (line 24). The Speaker, knowing the harsh and surreal code of the klondike, wandered on through the cold to fulfill his promise. Strangely, that afternoon in Fort Marcy Park there was little blood that was found on or around the Vincent Foster s body. Even more bizarre was Doctor Donald Haut s coroner report. Dr. Haut is the coroner for Fairfax County, Virginia and the only medical doctor that evaluated Foster s body. Dr. Haut was quoted in the Fiske report as saying that he observed a large pool of blood around the body at the crime scene. Although Dr. Haut denies that he ever made a statement or was interviewed by a member of Fiske s investigative team (Balough, 2015). Cory Ashford was one of the Fairfax County Emergency Medical Technicians that was on the scene that day. In fact, Ashford was one of the individuals that put Vincent Foster s into a body bag at Fort Marcy Park. Cory Ashford told investigators that he did not use gloves nor did he have to wash his hands after putting Foster s body into the body bag (Balough, 2015). Mr. Ashford was one of four medical technicians that were present at Fort Marcy Park that day and saw Vince Fosters body. None of the four of them recall seeing a hole in the top or in the back of Foster s skull but they do recall seeing a puncture wound on the lower right side of Foster s neck. It was described as a hole approximately the size of a .22 caliber entrance wound. This fact was omitted from all of the reports. (Rodriguez, 1995). The

Different Types Of Economic Systems Define Different Types of Economic Systems Traditional economies are steered through historical practise, often in which communities use original tools and methods to harvest and hunt for food, resulting in very little economic growth. Traditional economies have a tendency to operate in rural Third World countries and appear to live in poverty even if their needs are being met. When traditional economies interact with market or command economies, money plays an important role, it enables those in the traditional economy to purchase better equipment to make their farming, hunting or fishing more profitable. The United States had many features of a traditional economy before the Great Depression. In the beginning of the 20th century, 60% of the United Stated lived in farming communities, whilst 41% of the workforce were employed by farms. Over farming occurred in response to high demand from Europe after World War I. In addition two thirds of Haiti s population relies on subsistence farming for their livelihood. Their reliance on wood as a primary source of fuel has stripped the forests of trees. This makes them vulnerable to natural disasters, such as the earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010 Source: CIA World Factbook, Haiti s Economy; Marginal Revolution, Why Is Haiti so Poor?) There are many different reasons to why the British Officials went through with this deportation. The British Officials conducted the expulsion of the Acadians between 1755 and 1758 from Nova Scotia. This was one reason why the British conducted the expulsion of Pittman 4 the Acadians because they could not have full control over them. The British Officials wanted the Acadians to be loyal subjects to the King and be under their control. The essence of the administration s position became clear: the Acadians were told that their loyalty and obedience could best be properly demonstrated by their immediately taking the Oath of Allegiance in the Commons from before the Council [...], he based his opinions upon the question of their loyalty as subjects, rather than upon their position as aliens (Griffiths, 126 127). The British Officials wanted in ensure the Acadians were on their side and signing the Oath would prove to the British Officials that they were. The British thought they Acadians were a threat because they would not fall under their command. The British demanded the Acadians to take this oath because it would also ensure the Acadians would not take up arms against the British Empire. The legal argument over the link between the oath of the allegiance and the rights of the Acadians as British had little import for the immediate circumstances (Griffiths, 127). The British gave the Acadians a chance to stay in Nova Scotia by agreeing to the Oath, but the Acadians turned down that offer. Coming to these conclusions, the British Officials thought it would be best to follow through with the removal of the
  • 17. Brown Vs. Board Of Education Segregated Children From the 1880s to about the mid 1960s segregation had taken over American cities and towns. Segregation is the act of setting someone or something apart from other people or things. In America, African Americans were segregated from White people. Segregation was a result of the abolishment of slavery twenty five years before. Whites still wanted to feel superior to the Blacks, and without slavery to chain them down, they decided to begin segregation by establishing Jim Crow laws. Jim Crow laws segregated Americans, by the color of their skin, in all public facilities: schools, restaurants, hospitals, schools, restrooms and more. But they were very passionate to educate these young minds and creating a world where they could have a dream to be educated and be whatever they want. However, one court case would change the whole education system, Brown vs. The Board of Education. When Linda Brown was denied access to an all white school in Topeka, Kansas, her father claimed that it violated the Constitutions Equal Clause. So the Court agreed that it violated the Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, this was one of many initial steps to eliminating segregation in schools and eventually eliminate segregation everywhere. This decision did not go over well with Whites, for example when The Little Rock nine happened they were harassed by students and by the parents. Little Rock nine were nine students that were involved in the desegregation of a school, but the Whites did not like this so they tried to scare them so the schools would not be integrated. Segregation in schools did not just affect African American childrens education it also affected their childhood. As hard as it was for adults to be segregated, it was even harder for the children to deal with it. Segregation gave African American children the idea that they were beneath White people, it had a profound affect on them, lowering self esteem. This separation was not by any means voluntary, they were forced apart during the Holocaust. Wiesel was a Jew when the invasion of Hungary occurred and the Germans ripped members of his religion away from their home in Sighet. A once peaceful community where Wiesel learned to love the Kabbalah was now home to only dust and lost memories. Most members of that Jewish community were never to return, hell greeted them with open arms as they walked through the now rusty gates of Auschwitz. In order to survive unimaginable circumstances that were enforced in these camps, a boy had to hang on to his humanity. But by no means did humanity stay with the boy, being subjected to the horror of concentration camps, Auschwitz and Buchenwald, Elie Wieselsaw first hand how members of other communities attempt to silence opposing voices. All of the pain that Wiesel saw inspired him to keep watch and tell stories for people who wouldn t live on to tell them for their own families. Stories are what keeps a person alive and through Eliezer s words that he puts down many are able to get a sense of closure in knowing what occurred at these camps. One story occurred on the first train ride away from home, a lady named Madame SchГ¤chter was beaten up for crying out against imminent death, unseen by others. She stayed like that all through the day, dumb, absent,

The Pythagorean Theorem states that the sum of the squares of the two legs of a right triangle equals the square of the hypotenuse of the triangle. In simpler words, when looking at the right triangle below, aВІ+bВІ=cВІ. This major discovery in the history of mathematics lead to the accomplishments of many other basic things we do in life. The Pythagorean Theorem does not just stop at the famous equation of aВІ+bВІ=cВІ, but it has many other aspects. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the concept of the Pythagorean Triples was discovered, mathematicians were eager to validate the concept. Euclid created a widely accepted formula in deriving a Pythagorean Triple, which can be proved with the help of the unit circle and algebra. Euclid s Formula and its Proof Euclid s formula for a Pythagorean triple is: a = 2mn, b = m^2 n^2, c = m^2 + n^2 The variables: m and n: stand for positive, rational integers. It is important to remember that m has to be greater than n, otherwise the statement valuing variable b on a Pythagorean triangle would be false because b cannot This can be understood in terms of the rational points on the unit circle. A unit circle is a circle with the radius of 1. We can draw a right triangle: a and b are the legs c is the hypotenuse In the next part, we must use the trigonometric identity of sin2+cos2=1. For representational purposes, we must look towards the following diagram for how the triangle would be represented in this proof. The next step in formulating this next equation would require us to find the sine and cosine of triangleABC. The sine formula is opposite/hypotenuse, which would equate to a/c. Additionally, the formula for cosine is adjacent/hypotenuse, equating to b/c. Knowing the trigonometric identity, we can derive the new eqution: For the next step, we will need to know the equation of a [unit] circle: x2 + y2 = 1 We know that
  • 21. The Field Of Business Administration Essay The field of business administration is not as straightforward as one may perceive. While there is a specific process that business owners must undergo in order to start up their own company, there is no exact right or wrong method to create and sustain a successful business. It is ultimately up to us, as potential leaders of any organization or project, to utilize our own personal values in order to help shape a realistic vision that all of us can achieve together. Because business administration is a competitive field, there are no grounds for complacency; one has to constantly be enthusiastic about growth in order to progress. An individual needs to know what he can and can not control, in order to improve on the factors that can be controlled. A team needs to establish healthy relationships within each individual, and then develop mutual respect and understanding for one another. A corporation, with the direction of its leaders, needs to set clear, concrete, reachable goals that everybody in the organization can accomplish. The approach on how to organize, plan, and execute any given plan is subjective, yet crucial. Starting up your own company takes patience and time; however, a number of entrepreneurs tend to take out huge loans in an attempt to build a flashy looking business with no business plan whatsoever. In fact, 33% of businesses will fail in these first two crucial years, the main cause being a lack of experience (Jorden). Therefore, a business s success

Ecological economists argue the neoclassical welfare economics for ignoring the environmental and ethic values by only focusing on the cost benefit analysis. It also claims that the neoclassical economics fails to calculate the value of the environmental capital and the loss of the economic activities on the environment. This paper is going to explain the problems with the neoclassical welfare economics and the alternatives offered by the ecological economics in terms of economic growth and environment. The neoclassical welfare economics explains the economic production and behavior by using the mainstream terms of economic literature. Specifically, it focuses on the Pareto efficiency and suggests two theorems related to it. Firstly, the Pareto efficiency is stated by maximization of preferences under a restricted

However this is not the concern many had with the introduction of the tax, but the concerns were focused upon the externalities caused by this and the effects it would have on the economy. Three years since the carbon tax introduction and the Provincial level of GDP has remained approximately the same, (Greenery in Canada: We have a winner) With the provincial level of GDP remaining around the same, this suggests that at the very worst the carbon tax has had no negative effects to the provincial economy. The Marble facade, on the southwest side or the main entrance, has the most controversy over how, when, and even who, build it. Scholars have agreed that the lower facade under the direct supervision of Giovanni was built between 1284 to 1296, but the perceived flaw in design of the facade: namely, the vertical misalignment of the piers framing the center portal in the lower story and those framing the rose window in the upper story (Gillerman), of the facade have brought up different theories on how it came to be. Some believe that this discontinuity of the facade is to be a response of Giovanni s explosive personality, while others, based more on the date of construction being later (1314), believe that it was understood to be a change in artistic leadership. There is a connection from the exterior to the interior where Giovanni followed his father s style continuing the sculpted figures. They can be seen covering every ledge and corner of the facade. Each statue on the facade is accompanied by an inscription. There also were sculpted animals, including, lions and griffins

Then he regained the confidence to appear in front of the magistrate were he said to them: I have come to tell you that I will no longer be a prisoner on parole, I take back my word (D Arcy 71). • 35. Contribution Of Vladimir Lenin To the Russian people Vladimir Lenin was an important historical figure and the creator of the Soviet System. Lenin was not always a radical revolutionary, but he transformed into one after reading the books that his older brother had in his library. Lenin s older brother was executed as a radical by the regime which created an early hatred for the Tsar. Lenin was the leader of the Bolshevik party and helped to rally support to the party even while in exile through the multiple pieces of writing that he produced. Lenin helped to promote the revolution in 1905 and was only stopped by the outbreak of World War One. While the tsarist Government survived the revolution in 1905 they would fail to do so in the February Revolution which occurred in 1917. After the Tsar fell a provisional government was set up which floundered and failed while Lenin and his Bolsheviks gained power. After being sent back to Russia by Germany, Lenin created his April Thesis which said that the power should be transferred to his soviet socialist party. At first, the Bolsheviks were a minority but by September 1917 they gained the majority and took the power from the provisional government in the October Revolution. After the Revolution, a civil war broke out between the Bolshevik Red army and the anti Bolshevik White army. Which the Reds eventually won with the leadership of Leon Trotskyand Vladimir Lenin. One of Lenin s most important contributions to the soviet state was organizing a peace treaty

However, this is the way Brin and Page want Google to be organized and works well for the company. This is a very democratic and simple way to design a company. The way Google has structured its management and divided the stock has put Brin and Page in a position to which they will be able to retain most of the power of the company aside from stockholders, whereas management will remain flat under them. The questions that the other stockholders have about the way the company is structured will not have an effect on the future of Google. Stockholders will have very little say in the decisions of how to run the company. Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love that they share for one another represents the struggle that one may face wanting to break away from reality. Dmitri was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his only reasoning for this. Dmitri was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an affair with. Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the story as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He referred to women as an inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other hand, was new to the idea of being unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she convinced herself that it was not real love that they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and Dmitri changed the way they felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial relationship with his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more. Once he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and light. The more exciting his life became in Yalta with Anna, the more dull and uninteresting his life back home became. His thoughts portray to the reader that he believes Anna is the perfect contender for an affair. The author of the story, Chekov,

From the conflicts that aroused between the different White European settlers, to the adjustment of the African Americans to labor, the southerner society, or community, was created. The commodification of the domestic work of African Americanwomen affected in great ways their performance in white households, as well as their portrayal in advertisements, where they were shown to be a need to white southerners during the 1920 s. Although these advertisements approached the public with the idea that domestic work was a necessity, the advances in society made of their work one that day by day became less needed. The problems of race the United States confronted are deeply imbedded in the historical past of the nation.
