cultures between teachers and students, teachers today must practice being

The university opened the housing facilities for the students first time in its 10 year

across the Market Street from the academic tower. University spokesman Steve
Infanti said the school expects to house up to 100 of its 822 full and part time
students in the building, which the school is operating under lease from city
developer Dan Deitchman.
Renovations are under way at the former Governor Hotel building at the southwest
corner of Market and Fourth streets. But Infanti said each finished unit will have
standard school provided furnishings, carpeting and window blinds, as well as Wi Fi
internet service. There also will be shared laundry and common areas, though

In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, he explores the hypocritical and false nature of
colonialism. Throughout the novel, almost everyone but Marlow continually
describes colonialism as a noble endeavor, yet Marlow s experience while in the
Congo constantly and thoroughly disproves such claims.
The argument for colonialism centers on civilizing the natives and providing them
with a better, more human like life. The Company describes their endeavors as trade,

Kurtz seems to be a great man before going to the Congo. He was a great musician
(Conrad, 71), a powerful orator, a potentially splendid leader of an extreme party ,
a great painter, or a universal genius (Conrad, 72). Everyone who did not know him
in the Congo or knew of what he did loved him and marveled at him. However,
after his time in the Congo, Kurtz fundamentally changes. He becomes the
embodiment of the Id: an aggressive, brutal figure expressing his most fundamental
desires. He decapitates natives and sticks their heads on spikes, facing them
towards him, almost in worship. He employs the natives in his quest for ivory,
turning them against their own kin. He becomes a god like leader of a native tribe,
acquires a native mistress, and even orders the attack on Marlow s riverboat to
prevent their arrival at the Inner Station, when he would have to leave his tribe and
the Congo. Through his methods, Kurtz represents an honest and true form of
colonialism. He is the most successful ivory trader the Company has, having
collected, bartered, swindled, or stolen more ivory than all the other agents together
(Conrad, 47). He does not claim to be civilizing the natives; in fact, he himself is
barbaric and uncivilized. He represents the pure, core version of colonialism and one
where brutality and inhumanity yield magnitudes more profit. Even the language
Conrad uses to describe Kurtz s craft is significant. He describes it first as collection
