Consumer perception about the brand
This document discusses consumer perception of brands from the author's experience working in retail. It makes three key points:
1. Consumer perception is shaped by many factors like marketing, advertising, color, packaging and can vary between individuals. Negative perceptions of brands often stem from lack of knowledge or misleading information.

Creating a Data-Driven Government: Big Data With Purpose
The U.S. Department of Commerce collects, processes and disseminates data on a range of issues that impact our nation. Whether it's data on the economy, the environment, or technology, data is critical in fulfilling the Department's mission of creating the conditions for economic growth and opportunity. It is this data that provides insight, drives innovation, and transforms our lives. The U.S. Department of Commerce has become known as "America's Data Agency" due to the tens of thousands of datasets including satellite imagery, material standards and demographic surveys.
But having a host of data and ensuring that this data is open and accessible to all are two separate issues. The latter, expanding open data access, is now a key pillar of the Commerce Department's mission. It was this focus on enhancing open data that led to the creation of the Commerce Data Service (CDS).
The mission at the Commerce Data Service is to enable more people to use big data from across the department in innovative ways and across multiple fields. In this talk, I will explore how we are using big data to create a data-driven government.
This talk is a keynote given at the Texas tech University's Big Data Symposium.

El alza se vio favorecido por el avance de las cotizaciones de los metales. Bajo este contexto, el monto negociado ascendió a un total de US$ 21.4 MM en 837 operaciones.
Mercados Globales
Asia
Las bolsas asiáticas cerraron a la baja al final de una semana lenta en volumen de operaciones por la cautela de los inversionistas tras las decisiones de la Fed y el Banco de Japón, antes del feriado por el Día del Trabajo. Las acciones chinas cayeron tras el alza de la morosidad de sus bonos que redujo el apetito al riesgo de los inversionistas.
Adicionalmente, la bolsa japonesa no operó hoy por un feriado local.
Europa
Las bolsas europeas cerraron con fuertes caídas y sufrieron su mayor retroceso semanal en un mes, lideradas por el sector de turismo, tras conocerse decepcionantes datos trimestrales. Estos resultados económicos se están convirtieron en un problema según Phillippe Gijsels, jefe de investigación de BNP Paribas. Por otro lado, el euro mantuvo su tendencia alcista cerrando con un máximo semanal.
Estados Unidos
Wall Street cerró con descensos durante la semana, liderada por los retrocesos en los sectores Salud, Tecnología y Financiero; e influenciada por la publicación de decepcionantes datos económicos, que mostraron una leve aceleración de la inflación durante marzo, y ganancias corporativas que generaron dudas sobre la fortaleza de la
economía norteamericana. En particular, durante la sesión se publicó el PCE deflactor anual y mensual situados en 0.8% y 0.1% respectivamente, indicador que sigue de cerca la Fed para monitorear la inflación. Las dos principales petroleras en EE.UU., Exxon Mobile y Chevron publicaron débiles resultados trimestrales para el 1T2016.
Divisas
El tipo de cambio ganó terreno por la mayor demanda de dólares de empresas y de bancos que aumentaron sus posiciones en moneda extranjera. El dólar ganó un 0.27%, a S/. 3.288 respecto a los S/. 3.279 del jueves, con negocios por S/. 335 MM. Pese a ello, el dólar se depreció 0.9% en abril, y acumula una caída de 3.69% en el año 2016.
Commodities
El crudo WTI cerró a la baja tras conocerse un nuevo descenso en el número de plataformas petrolíferas en operación en EE.UU.; asimismo sus futuros con vencimiento en Junio retrocedieron. Por el lado de los metales, el oro cerró la semana al alza y la plata logró un repunte importante, tocando máximos en 15 meses, ante la caída del dólar.

M249 Saw marksman PMIThe Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), or 5.56mm M249 is an individually portable, gas operated, magazine or disintegrating metallic link-belt fed, light machine gun with fixed headspace and quick change barrel feature. The M249 engages point targets out to 800 meters, firing the improved NATO standard 5.56mm cartridge. The SAW forms the basis of firepower for the fire team. The gunner has the option of using 30-round M16 magazines or linked ammunition from pre-loaded 200-round plastic magazines. The gunner's basic load is 600 rounds of linked ammunition. The SAW was developed through an initially Army-led research and development effort and eventually a Joint NDO program in the late 1970s/early 1980s to restore sustained and accurate automatic weapons fire to the fire team and squad. When actually fielded in the mid-1980s, the SAW was issued as a one-for-one replacement for the designated "automatic rifle" (M16A1) in the Fire Team. In this regard, the SAW filled the void created by the retirement of the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) during the 1950s because interim automatic weapons (e.g. M-14E2/M16A1) had failed as viable "base of fire" weapons.
Early in the SAW's fielding, the Army identified the need for a Product Improvement Program (PIP) to enhance the weapon. This effort resulted in a "PIP kit" which modifies the barrel, handguard, stock, pistol grip, buffer, and sights.
The M249 machine gun is an ideal complementary weapon system for the infantry squad platoon. It is light enough to be carried and operated by one man, and can be fired from the hip in an assault, even when loaded with a 200-round ammunition box. The barrel change facility ensures that it can continue to fire for long periods. The US Army has conducted strenuous trials on the M249 MG, showing that this weapon has a reliability factor that is well above that of most other small arms weapon systems. Today, the US Army and Marine Corps utilize the license-produced M249 SAW.
