Course Menu in your
Blackboard shell
• Course menu is the central
access point for all content.
• When your course is created,
some items are included by
default.
• You can modify or delete any of
these items.
Click Drop down arrow
How to add links to the
Course Menu
Click on the icon
Create and edit content within your Blackboard course.
• Once you have established your Course Menu structure, you’re ready
to begin building content in your course site.
• You can create individual pieces of content in “content containers”
(aka content folders). In “Content containers”, you create content
from menus for content items, tests, assignments, and links to tools.
• The course content is divided into a menu:
• Build Content
• Assessments
• Tools
Content Creation
• Build Content
• In this section faculty can upload
documents, videos, web links,
images, and syllabi’s.
• Faculty can also create a content
containers aka content folders
• Content folders are identical to the
folders you would use on your
personal computer: to organize
content in a meaningful way.

• Assessments
• This sections allows you to create,
or upload tests, survey, and
assignments.
Tools
In a content page you can place
any tool and make it available
to your students.
Important Features
• Edit Mode
• In order to edit the course menu, you need
to set Edit Mode to “on” in the top right
hand corner of the screen.
• Student Preview
• Through student preview instructors are
able to see course content exactly as a
student. This feature allows faculty to make
sure all assignments, discussions, grades,
and exams are available to their students.
• Course Activation
• In order for students to gain access to their
courses. Instructors must make there
courses available.

The Technology Fellows Program is a long standing learning community that fosters student success through
sound course design and the integration of technology to enhance both teaching and learning. This year Tech
Fellows is partnering with the newly formed Textbook Transformation Fellowship to design (or re-design)
courses that include free-to-access course materials, such as Open Educational Resources (OERs).
Details:
• Selected in March 2019
• Attend the Tech Fellows intensive May 13-16, 2019
• Work closely with dedicated instructional designers and faculty colleagues throughout the year
• Awarded financial compensation upon completion of their projects

  • 3. Course Menu in your Blackboard shell • Course menu is the central access point for all content. • When your course is created, some items are included by default. • You can modify or delete any of these items.
  • 5. How to add links to the Course Menu Click on the icon
  • 6. Create and edit content within your Blackboard course. • Once you have established your Course Menu structure, you’re ready to begin building content in your course site. • You can create individual pieces of content in “content containers” (aka content folders). In “Content containers”, you create content from menus for content items, tests, assignments, and links to tools. • The course content is divided into a menu: • Build Content • Assessments • Tools

Content Creation • Build Content • In this section faculty can upload documents, videos, web links, images, and syllabi’s. • Faculty can also create a content containers aka content folders • Content folders are identical to the folders you would use on your personal computer: to organize content in a meaningful way.
  • 8. Create and edit content continued • Assessments • This sections allows you to create, or upload tests, survey, and assignments. Tools In a content page you can place any tool and make it available to your students.

Important Features • Edit Mode • In order to edit the course menu, you need to set Edit Mode to “on” in the top right hand corner of the screen. • Student Preview • Through student preview instructors are able to see course content exactly as a student. This feature allows faculty to make sure all assignments, discussions, grades, and exams are available to their students. • Course Activation • In order for students to gain access to their courses. The Technology Fellows Program is a long standing learning community that fosters student success through sound course design and the integration of technology to enhance both teaching and learning. This year Tech Fellows is partnering with the newly formed Textbook Transformation Fellowship to design (or re-design) courses that include free-to-access course materials, such as Open Educational Resources (OERs).
