Sports Injuries Research Paper
Sports Injuries
Sports injuries occur all the time, it is normal if two or three kids got hurt in a football game, that s not
okay. In the U.S., about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports,
and more than 3.5 million injuries each year, which cause some loss of time of participation, are
experienced by the participants ( John Hopkins Medicine ). This is a problem that can be solved if
everyone puts their mind to it. The way people could help is by working together to educate people,
change method, and enforce laws.
Sports injuries are a huge problem in our country right now and I believe we should try something
new to prevent it. There are many sports players that are getting concussions, breaking ... Show more

The players do not get a good enough punishment for breaking the rules. There are 3 million annual
injuries incurred during sports participation among children and adolescents in the United States, with
injury defined as the one that causes time lost from sports participation ( American Academy of
Pediatrics ). Although, many players are injured because other players are taking drugs. Doping and
other drug usage is very common in professional leagues. Doping has also become an issue for
professional sports in recent years , The issues have become so pointed in the early part of the 2000 s
that congressional hearings occurred to investigate the widespread use of performance enhancing
drugs in professional sports ( HGExperts ). Thankfully many organizations are already working on the
issue. There is much help needed for the problem to be completely exterminated. Organizations such
as the NOCSAE and ASTM International have developed helmet standards that specify test protocols
and quantitative impact criteria or the Severity Index ( National Academy of Services ). People need to
be aware of this very effective issue. With much help, sports injuries will be gone for

Understanding The Application Of Emotional Intelligence
Connor Hennessy
Understanding the Application of Emotional Intelligence In Negotiations
The art of negotiation has many factors which can determine the outcome of win, lose, compromise,
or in some instances where the negotiation ends in a standstill. One of the more influential factors that
can determine an outcome of any negotiation is emotional intelligence. We can expect that with every
faucet that goes into negotiation, emotional intelligence ranks higher than most techniques, because it
creates an unquantifiable link between the negotiating parties.
Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been around for over a decade, however, it is still being developed in
the business sector of negotiation. It is recognized by senior and upper level ... Show more content on

If we exert negative emotions such as anger, irritability, impatience, and sadness we leave ourselves
open to manipulation, and create communication barriers that did not exist prior to our outbursts.
Spontaneous reactions or negative emotions such as blushing, embarrassment, aggressiveness, or
retaliation can reveal or true intentions or our primary goals and objectives. This makes us vulnerable
and the other issue can obtain concessions that weren t originally available. (Lewicki, Saunders, Barry,
Negotiation Reading and Exercises 6th Ed. 2009) EI comes into play to help avoid these situations,
and to keep us calm and level headed.
Godemans, basic premise on emotional intelligence is taken from Do Purchasing Professionals Need
Emotional Intelligence? (2002) Godeman introduces EI under the premise of Emotional Quotient
(EQ), it gauges the individual s perceptions and attributes which define EI. In a sense, it s a
benchmark, a measurement of their EI in relation to others. Godeman states these elements as The
Seven Pillars to EI. These elements are defined by: Self Awareness, the ability to recognize your own
feelings. Motivation is the drive and energy to achieve the results for both long and short term goals.
Interpersonal Sensitivity, the ability to be aware of the needs and feelings of others, this can impact a
negotiation as a loss or win. Intuition: the ability to use insight and interaction to arrive at and
implement decisions

Exploratory Paper
Before beginning the quantitative research report, we had to had complete an exploratory research
report. This was necessary as it allowed us to see trends in relation to healthy eating. The exploratory
research mainly consisted of qualitative questions as we wanted to see if there was any relationship
between a cupcake and a chicken and spinach sandwich. After analyzing the results of the survey, we
were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes
to eating and purchasing healthy food.
Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that
consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this
was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a
healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel as
though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most interesting
thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that organic food
was a healthier option as compared to non organic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the fact that consumers had mixed opinions on the healthiness of organic food, we decided that
creating a quantitative research survey would serve as a good opportunity to find more information on
this topic. Our hypothesis was that organic food is perceived as a healthier option when comparing it
non organic food, indicating that consumers are willing to pay more organic products. Ultimately, our
research question and hypothesis relates to healthy eating as it illustrates how some consumers feel
eating organic food is heathier, while some consumers feel that eating organic food isn t any healthier

Cell Membrane And The Cell Body
Neurons are made up of four regions, the cell body, dendrites, axons and presynaptic terminal. The
cell body (soma) contains the nucleus of a neuron and the endoplasmic reticulum. Extending out from
the cell body are processes called dendrites and axons. These processes conduct nerve impulses.
Dendrites conduct impulses toward the cell body while axons conduct impulses away from the cell
body. A fatty sheath called myelin sheath encases axons. It is the greatly expanded plasma membrane
of an accessory cell called the Schwann cell where the sheath of one Schwann cell meets the next. The
axolemma is the portion of the cell membrane surrounding the axon of a neuron and is responsible for
maintaining the membrane potential of the neuron. A single neuron, especially one in the central
nervous system may have thousands of other neurons synapsing on it. Some of these release activating
(depolarizing) neurotransmitters; others release inhibitory (hyperpolarizing) neurotransmitters.
An inactive or resting neuron actively pumps sodium out of the cell and potassium into the cell to
maintain equilibrium. However, the plasma membrane is more permeable to potassium than to
sodium, which results in some potassium to diffuse out of the neurons. Large, negatively charged
proteins such as phosphate and sulfate cannot diffuse out of the neuron. This results in a net excess of
positively charged ions outside the neuron membrane and net excess of negatively charged ions inside
the neuron.

Explain Why We Should Be Able To Carry Concealed Handguns
Another major reason why we should be able to carry concealed hand guns is for the protection of our
self, families and other. The opponents support prohibition of guns as they claim concealed handguns
are not effective methods of self defense. A person carrying a concealed gun for self defense is more
likely to be shot during an assault than a victim who has no gun. Victims having guns are 4.5 times
likely to be shot in an assault than victims without guns as they are not able to use concealed guns as
attackers overpower them and also surprise them. In everyday life, there is a chance you will be put in
a situation where self defense will be needed and there is also a higher chance that the criminal or
person you are protecting yourself from will be armed. We can all conjure up the night mare scenario

Many other people cannot always rely on the police force because they are late to help citizens in
need. The police almost always arrive to the scene of a crime after a crime has been committed. A
2013 research article in the Wall Street Journal reported that the average police response time to an
emergency call is 11 minutes, with some responses taking much longer. In many cases the police force
appears a little bit too late to a situation and leave victims helpless until they finally arrive to the
scene. A man called 911 to report that an intruder was in his apartment threatening him. The man was
forced to shoot the intruder fatally before the police were able to arrive (The Bias Against Guns 17).

Finding Truth In Mary Shelley s Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemist is a Japanese graphic novel by Hiromu Arakawa. The graphic novel follows a
young scientist who goes by the name of Edward Elric. In the first volume, Edward claims,
scientists... are in a sense the closest things to God, since they strive to uncover the principles of
creation... the truth (Arakawa 22). But the ways in how scientists obtain these truths are different from
how God obtains information. God is omniscient, so he does not have to look for answers; he knows
everything. As for scientists, the only way they can obtain information is by the means of observation
and performing experiments. When scientists do any scientific experimentation or begin to create,
they should do it with kindness. If any form of experimentation ... Show more content on

Mary Shelley warns the readers of the consequences of creating without kindness. She does this by
putting her protagonist, Victor in a dilemma. At first, Victor calls his creation beautiful (Shelley 48).
But after he completes his task, Victor says he cannot endure the aspect of the being of which he
created (Shelley 49). And so he rushes out of the room and fails to compose his mind to sleep (Shelley
49). Victor s action and dialogue speak volumes about his lack of kindness. According to the Merriam
Webster dictionary, kindness is the quality or state of being gentle and considerate (Merriam Webster).
Victor shows an inconsistent reaction towards his creation. He starts off with kindness. But it can be
seen that this type of kindness does not last for long. Victor says he was unable to endure the pain of
even looking at his creature (Shelley 49). The quote shows how inconsiderate and prejudice he is.
Instead of proceeding with a gentle action, Victor rushes out of the room (Shelley 49). In no way was
Victor showing any gentleness or consideration to his creation. Because of these events, Victor s life
goes for the worse. Shelley goes on to show what happens to those who lack kindness towards their
creation. She does this by providing a different perspective, from the monster s point of

Colonoscopy
Why You Should Have A Colonoscopy And How It s Done
If you re approaching your 50th birthday, your doctor may recommend a baseline colonoscopy. The
American Cancer Society recommends that everyone should begin colon cancer screening tests at 50
years of age. A colonoscopy is one such test your doctor can order for a baseline and then repeat every
ten years thereafter if the tests are negative. If your doctor finds early signs of cancer or polyps, you
may need to have more frequent tests to keep an eye on your condition. Here s a look at why this
colon cancer test is important for your health and how it s done.

the procedure, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it may sound like an uncomfortable experience to endure, you will be sedated during the
procedure, so you won t have much discomfort. You may take a pill the morning of the test, or your
doctor may give you a sedative along with pain medications through an IV. The advantage of IV
medications is they work quickly and wear off quickly. Plus, your doctor can adjust the dose to make
sure you are kept comfortable.
To perform this test, your doctor uses a flexible scope with a camera to look inside your colon. To get
a good view of your colon wall, you ll need to take laxatives the day before to clean everything out of
your system. It s important for your colon to be as clean as possible so your doctor doesn t overlook
any tiny polyps.
If your doctor sees a polyp, he or she can snip it out and send it to the lab to be tested for cancer. You
may not have any polyps, but you could have one or several. They may or may not be cancerous. The
frequency of your future testing will depend on the size, number, and cell characteristics of the polyps
removed during your baseline colonoscopy.
A colonoscopy isn t the only colon cancer test you can have, but it is often recommended. The
advantage of this test is your doctor can look for growths and remove them at the same

The Gold And Engineering Ethics
Gilbane Gold and Engineering Ethics Ethics are fundamental in all human interaction; they guide or
beliefs and behaviors, therefore fundamentally affecting how we live life. As Christians, it is
especially important to live a life of ethics in order to follow the standard to which God has called us
with the words: Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be
blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse
generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world (NASB). This responsibility to live life in a
way that is caring and beneficial to others is especially important for engineers. Engineers are often
held to a higher standard than most other workers due to the nature of an engineer s work to involve
the safety of others. The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) has a Code of Ethics for
Engineers that highlights a few of the most important aspects of proper ethical consideration in the
work of an engineer. In the ethics video produced by the NSPE we see Z Corp a company responsible
for providing commercial fertilizer break many of these ethical considerations. The three most
considerable ethical issues seen in this video are: Z Corp lying to the public about the state of their
product, using outdate, less accurate tests in order to pass contamination laws, and firing the most
competent staff that they had to authorize the contamination released by the plant.

Essay on Shakespeare s Soliloquies
Hamlet s Soliloquy
The purpose of a soliloquy is to outline the thoughts and feelings of a certain character at a point in the
play. It reveals the innermost beliefs of the character and offers an unbiased perspective as it is merely
the character talking to the audience, albeit not directly, and not to any other characters who may
cause the character to withhold their true opinions. Therefore, Hamlet s first soliloquy (act 1, scene 2)
is essential to the play as it highlights his inner conflict caused by the events of the play. It reveals his
true feelings and as such emphasizes the difference between his public appearance, his attitude
towards Claudius in the previous scene is less confrontational than here where he is ... Show more

Hamlet communicates that his father was a divine, almost god like character, so excellent a king , who
was so loving to my mother . He also illustrates the contrast between the new king and the old and as
such his mother s choice, Hyperion to a satyr . This example of extreme contrast increases the
importance of Hamlet s father and yet also makes a mockery of Claudius character; one which, to this
point, the audience could have seen as strong and domineering.
When Hamlet says, Frailty, thy name is woman , he is personifying frailty as the entire of the female
race. The actions of his mother have lead him to believe that all women are capable of acting in this
wicked way and that all women are weak. Alongside the image of his father that is communicated,
Hamlet is saying, and therefore feeling, that the people that he could look up to in life have departed
and that his entire world has been altered, It is not nor it cannot come to good .
The distressed nature of Hamlet s mind is also communicated well by the imagery that is used
throughout the soliloquy. At the start, Hamlet says that he wants his too solid flesh to ...melt, thaw, and
resolve itself into a dew . This goes alongside the later lines, How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable
seem to me all the uses of this world , where the build up of adjectives, one after the other, serves to

An example in the case of Qantas is their constant struggle of market share between their domestic
competitors, Virgin Blue. This also has an inverse relationship with the domestic market, where if
there are sudden fluctuations in the international market, the domestic market may make up for the
potential loss. In order to gain this cushioning of the economic cycle, Qantas also had to effectively
spread production costs and promote operation efficiency for their growing international corporation.
Economies of scale are the reduction in costs of productions caused by increasing the scale of the
production facility and spreading fixed costs over a larger output. This means that as Qantas expands
to global markets, they can possibly gain more revenue through services and this would generate
lower average costs and the potential for higher profits. The purchase of Australian Airlines in
September 1992 allowed Qantas to more efficiently use their aircraft and improve management of
passenger capacity and transfers between domestic and international services. Through their

intended for an audience that has studied the subject of Christianity versus Evolution before.
Larson starts out by describing the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin and why he thinks it is such a
great piece of scientific literature, and describes how it greatly affected the Christian community
because a large part of it went against the Bible. He then explains the ideas behind evolution and
natural selection. Larson stated that evolution was the theory that current living species evolved from
preexisting species (Larson 14). Next, he sets the background for the rest of his book by giving details
of how the situation surrounding evolution arose, and how the two lawyers got involved in the case..
He sets the background for the court case by stating that the teaching of evolution was banned in the
schools of Dayton, Tennessee and that John Scopes was being prosecuted for teaching it to the class he
was substituting.
Following his explanation of the basis on the case, he describes the differences between
fundamentalism and modernism. He describes how one of the main causes of the pressure between
them is an aftermath of World War I. Fundamentalism is following religion as stringently as possible,
while modernism is the exact opposite of it. Furthermore,

2,000 mile long wall on the U.S. border with Mexico is a pipe dream as the workers to put on this wall
to make it happen in less than 8 years it would cost even more to the budget of 1.2 billion dollars to
buy materials for this enormous wall (Magnuson). As President Trump claims it will take at least a

Analysis Of The Unfinished Dance, By Margaret O Brien
This weekend Christina Wehner is hosting the En Pointe Blogathon, a three day event celebrating
films that spotlight that beautiful and centuries old form of dance known as ballet. One of the most
overlooked Metro Goldwyn Mayer films of the 1940s The Unfinished Dance just so happens to
revolve around ballet, and so I have chosen to call attention to this rarity as well as to Ballerina ( 1937
) which was based on the same story.
Both of these pictures are about a ballet student who accidentally cripples a famous ballerina when she
throws the switch on the onstage trap door, causing the dancer to plummet to her career ending doom.
Is she dead?

While The Unfinished Dance bears some resemblance to the original film, it cannot and should not be
compared to Ballerina as a remake. They are two separate films with marked differences. One major
contrast between them is the underlying theme of the pictures. In Ballerina, it is all about the dance.
To dance is to live; to dance is to breathe.
The Dance is greater than all our personal troubles, remarks Karine in one scene.
In The Unfinished Dance, Meg s guilt takes center stage. Ballet becomes Meg s redemption. Director
Henry Koster did a wonderful job of creating a disquieting atmosphere of tension in all of the scenes
featuring O Brien. Meg is a hapless victim of a foolish and childish prank that she herself conceived
and her guilt causes her to see the jail bars closing in on her. Every whisper is a personal threat to her
safety. Every policeman an agent of Justice out to capture her. Margaret O Brien plays out the
psychological tension that Meg feels with great skill, especially considering she was only nine years
old at the time of filming, while Koster treats these sequences as though it were Robert Mitchum on
the screen, running from another thoughtless crime he committed in haste.
However, audiences didn t appreciate this peek into the mind of a child criminal, and the film lost
nearly $1,800,000 upon its release. It was the only Joe

The column has 24 grooves and specific entablature which is curved tapering in the column shaft. The
entablature is the part of the roof that leans on top of the column and composed of the architrave,

these footprints into terms characteristic of the slenderness of women, and thus first made a column
the thickness of which was only one eighth of its height, so that it might have a taller look. At the foot
they substituted the base in place of a shoe; in the capital they placed the volutes, hanging down at the
right and left like curly ringlets, and ornamented its front with cymatia and with festoons of fruit

Comparing Erich Fromm s Disobedience As A Psychological...
Erich Fromm wrote Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem, in 1963, an essay detailing
balance between obedience and disobedience.
Fromm cited that authority figures insisted obedience as a virtue and disobedience as a vice. He
argued that disobedience began human history itself and necessary to continue it. Fromm first
discussed a Biblical example: the story of Adam and Eve. Humans were in harmony with nature, yet
still in their infancy. Prophets argued it is through man s sin can reason and love developed, and men
become human. Only through disobedience were they able to grow into individuals and independence.
Fromm drew onto the Greek myth of Prometheus as another source of evolution through disobedience.
Prometheus theft of fire from the gods laid down the foundations for civilization. Both examples have
mankind s history begin with disobedience. The capacity of disobedience allows humans to evolve.
Fromm argues that if disobedience began history, then obedience will end it. While humankind s
capability is great, it outpaces rational and humanistic ideals. Destruction will come through obeying
amoral thoughts; commands from higher authority and archaic passions of fear, hate, and greed (p.
684, 11th ed.). Fromm clarifies that obedience or disobedience is not a single value system. The
principles that guide in obedience or disobedience may be either good or bad. If an individual is
completely obedient, then they are a slave; if they are completely

Progressivism During The Progressive Era
The Progressive Movement sought to impose significant restrictions on capitalism in the interests of
democracy. These Progressive ideals were later continued during the New Deal. Progressivism was
primarily a midde class movement and thus sought to reform capitalism and end some of its worst
excesses in order to preserve traditional representative democracy. During the late nineteenth century,
monopolies were identified as an example of capitalist excess that not only threated economic stability
but also the principles of democracy itself as these monopolies were able to influence politics to their
benefit. Thus, Progressives helped to push through trust busting statutes such as the Sherman Act,
Clayton Act, and the Federal Trade Commission Act which restricted the formation of cartels and
prohibited collusive acts that restrained free trade. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the New Deal was implemented in order to provide relief and recovery as well as reform the US
economy. One of these economic reforms involved the sale of securities which were previously not
regulated at the federal level leading to a number of abuses. In response, FDR signed the Securities
Act of 1933 to regulate the offer and sale of securities. In addition, the supporters of the New Deal
also criticized the banking industry for its lack of transparency and control which was one the
contributing factors to the Great Depression. Therefore, as part of the New Deal, the Banking Act of
1933 was passed in order to limit commercial bank securities activities, restrict speculative bank
activities, and promote a federal system of bank deposit insurance. Thus, this Act restricted and
separated commercial banking from investment banking in order to decrease competition and
discourage risky investment strategies which previous banks had made with customer deposit and

Is Hunting Ethical
Hunting has been around since the beginning of man. Early humans hunted to survive in the harsh
world. Hunting is still used to supply a source of food for many, but it has turned into a recreational
sport for some. The turn from means of survival to sport has spurred the argument over whether or not
hunting is humane or ethical. Hunting is very ethical because can help stop overpopulating species,
slow overgrazing, and be used as a source of food.
Overpopulating species can become very bad for an ecosystem. When a species goes unchecked for a
long period time, their population will quickly rise. The number of the animal will soon get too high
for the ecosystem to be able to supply food for them. This will cause a number of the species to begin

They rely solely on the food that they can hunt down and make themselves. Hunting allows them to
survive the lifestyle they live. The living of the land lifestyle can only happen if hunting is allowed
because wildlife is part of the land. If hunting was ever outlawed, then numerous amounts of people
will lose their only source of food.
There are many organizations that oppose the idea of hunting citing that it is very inhumane to kill a
defenseless animal. PETA, for example, is a group that views hunting as a barbaric act of savagery.
They want to outlaw hunting because it hurts animals. They also preach about living a vegetarian life.
However, this is just not possible. The human body was designed to live off of the proteins found in
meat. This is why the basic instinct of man is to hunt and eat meat.
The argument over hunting being humane and ethical is quickly becoming a hot topic. It has many
backers on both sides. Hunting positively affects many families all over the world. Hunting is a very
beneficial act for the environment as it controls overpopulation, stops overgrazing, and provides food

Cuartin Creating Art Analysis
As an artist, I exemplify innovation and continuous improvement because it is absolutely essential to
my work. Drawing materials are often pricy and I cannot afford to pay for such specialized items, so I
must form an alternate solution from what I have. My innovation can be seen when I create makeshift
graphite blenders from copy paper and pallet knives from plastic utensils. Moreover, I like to
experiment art with different mediums. I have drawn on cardboard with only white and black markers,
splashed charcoal sketches with water, formed giant feathered wings sculptures from paper scraps, and
even pieced together a sculpture out of battered metal eating utensils. By blending my imagination and
these unique materials I form innovative original works. Moreover, I continuously seek improvement
in myself as I draw and sketch. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it seems unfinished and lacking in textures and details. If I add more paint layers to fix certain aspects,
it becomes a better piece as a whole. Even some subtle touches of paint can dramatically improve a
piece of art. My artistic talent has also developed like this. Just when I thought that I learned

How The Hull House Have A Positive Impact On People And...
an you imagine living in a run down neighborhood, with streets full of garbage? How about having to
watch little children play in the streets wearing dirty, ragged clothes? Jane Addams grew up in a place
like this, and she wanted to make changes in the world, so she founded the Hull House. How did the
Hull House have a positive impact on people and America? It helped create new laws, teach
immigrants important skills, improved education, and inspired others to fight for what is right. In
1888, Jane Addams and her good friend Ellen Gates Starr went on a trip to visit a settlement house in
London called Toynbee Hall. Toynbee Hall had many, many activities that people were able to
participate in. Additionally, it was located in one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another goal of theirs was to improve city life. The Hull House wasn t just a place where immigrants
could participate in programs and learn, but it was a place where they were able to feel safe and get
the support and assistance they needed to live a normal life in the large city of Chicago. The Hull
House helped and impacted people in countless ways. One of which, was that reformers helped teach
immigrants skills that they may have needed for jobs. Immigrationtounitedstates.org states,¨Of
Chicago s one million residents in 1888, approximately 78 percent were either foreign born or the
children of foreign born parents. Because of the number of potential workers, the wages were low and
poverty widespread, especially among unskilled workers. This shows us that over half of Chicago s
population at the time, was either people who weren t born in America, or children of parents that
weren t born in America. That s where the Hull House comes in. Hull House reformers specifically
taught those people things that they needed to know and things that they needed to know how to do.
Reformers also went to the Hull House and gave lectures on economics and social issues. This
impacted them because when they didn t know the things that they were taught, it was highly unlikely
for them to get a job. But when they learned these valuable skills, they were more likely to find work
or a job. To add on,

The Gnp Should Support A Second Independence Referendum
The GNP should support a second independence referendum in Glebeland because the call for a
second independence referendum would bring benefit to this country. Different from its name, the
United Kingdom, instead of using federalism, is a unitary state. Even though Glebeland has its own
culture and language, being a member country of the United Kingdom, it only enjoys limited power
delegated from the central government of the United Kingdom. Because of the diversity in culture,
Glebeland needs a higher level of decentralization. If this time the independence referendum would
succeed, the Glebeland would become an economically as well as politically independent entity and
could go back to the European Union as it wishes. If it would fail as ... Show more content on

Through this process with a slippery slope, Glebeland is able to gain more power than other member
countries. The continuous increase in power could prepare Glebeland s government to become an
independent government in the future.
The condition of Glebeland s power gaining process is similar to the condition of Scotland s, which
occupies 54 seats in the House of Commons. The legislative bargaining offers Scotland a chance to
continuously earn more power under the asymmetric power devolution of the United Kingdom.
Followed by the establishment of the Scottish parliament in 1977, the Scottish National Party (SNP)
became one of the largest parties in the UK in 1999, and then held power in the Scottish general
election in 2007. The power gaining process of Glebeland is parallel to the process of Scottish. Thus,
similar to the Scottish government, Glebeland s government is getting more prepared to lead an
independent nation. It is true that one cannot eliminate the possibility that the second independence
referendum would fail again. However, with the slippery slope of the power gaining process, this
second referendum could still help Glebeland s government bargain for more power with the central
government even if it turns out to have a No result. Consequently, it could ensure Glebeland a higher
degree of autonomous power.

The Components Of Wine Prices
Components of Wine Prices When people walk in a wine shop or grocery store s wine aisle, there are
often hundreds of wines with different price on display. The consumer may wonder what is the
difference between a thousand dollar wine and a twenty dollar wine. On the bottle of wine, a typical
label shows a lot of information. How to use those informations to evaluate the true value of wine
definitely is a challenge. Even though consumer can easily find the quality rating of wine which
published by various wine writers and critics; however, the wine writers opinion can influence
consumer perceptions. Therefore, analysis the internal and external impact on wine prices helps
consumer make a wise decision. According to a wine marketing research in Australian Marketing
Journal, wine s brand name, geographic region, grape types, fermentation method and vintage date are
the main components that affect wine prices (Ling and Lockshin 19). Knowing where a bottle of wine
comes from, what types of grape used and the reputation of its winery can help consumer have an idea
how much it worth. Wine is produced in many countries throughout the world, but only a few of
countries has developed a wine brand in order to obtain benefits from this industry (Aranda, Gomez
and Molina 2057). Therefore, building brand image is a necessary step for wineries to increase
reputation and competitiveness. Successful wineries focus on providing customer satisfaction in order
to create higher reputation.

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor E. Frankl
Viktor E. Frankl s novel Man s Search for Meaning is a novel founded on the personal journey of
Viktor and how he discovered his meaning in life. In the course of his discovery of the meaning of life
he decides to hopefully help those in pain and sufferings find their meaning as well. The book entails
tragedy and extreme misfortune in Auschwitz concentration camp as a captive; yet through this pain
and suffering is where Viktor Frankl originated his will to persevere and psychological techniques for
survival.
Throughout Viktor E. Frankl s book Man s Search for Meaning mental, physical, and emotional
torture and attack impressed on the prisoners in the Auschwitz concentration camp was a regular and
familiar topic. The accompanying guards kept shouting at us and driving us with the butts of their
rifles. Anyone with very sore feet supported himself on his neighbor s arm. Hardly a word was
spoken; the icy wind did not encourage talk. (Page #37) If I was compelled to experience an
organization or group of authorities that I had no rights or privileges whatsoever, while enduring the
harsh realities of nature s weather, and facing weapons intended to take my life and the lives around
me, I would most likely be in survival mode and be focused on trying to be as composed and
camouflaged as possible. It is admirable how the prisoners in this recollection from Viktor are thinking
of one another as well as themselves by assisting their fellow man in survival as well. I would like

Child Policy And Child Policies
Chen, Come! Look at this! Said a boy during our class recess. He stood there wide eyed, trembling
with his mouth wide open. Let me see! Me first! Said another classmate. Before I knew it, I was
standing there with half the 5th Grade class staring into a ditch in dismay. There lied the dead body of
what appeared to be a newborn child. It was a deep, overgrown ditch filled with rocks and debris
along with a blood soaked quilt. It was 1991, in a small village in northern China. It was a rough time
period in China a little over 10 years after the infamous One Child Policy was introduced. I had never
witnessed a dead body before, and couldn t help but stare at the lifeless body. How could this happen?
Who could do something so evil? As children, we never fully understood what exactly happened
regarding the One Child Policy. I heard stories of forced abortions, and government interventions to
female children, or those attempting to have multiple children. But it was crazy to actually witness it
first hand. I was a mistake; my parents always wanted a boy, as did every other person in China.
Everyone knew Chinese parents did not wish to have daughters; they needed a son that could work to
support not only himself but also his parents, as a lot of the economy was agriculture/labor based.
Females were simply useless outside of reproducing. It was a simple concept, if you were only
allowed one child, you chose a son. Ling! Please get up and get ready for school Chen said.

Furthermore, the Australian government has waived penalty rates people who used to be paid for

The George Rogers Clark National Historical Park is a 26 acre historical park in the Midwest
Regional Office located in Vincennes Indiana. Over the weekend of August 29th, 2015 my family and
I visited the George Rogers Clark Museum. My wife and I actually live very close to Vincennes
Indiana, as it is only a 25 minute drive and we frequently visit Vincennes for shopping and dining.
While we do visit this town about once a month, I do admit that I have never been or paid a lot of

it, but you can t really appreciate what it has to offer unless you take the time and visit the site in

Donato Bramante, Tempietto. The columns represented in the Tempietto are also Doric, with the top

sculptural relief. The exterior of the building is made of granite that is from Vermont, Minnesota; and

The Importance Of Hair Designs In Ancient Egypt
The ancient Egyptians were one of the first world civilizations to exist on our planet being the first to
set parameters. I often wonder if they knew they were the first. When they were creating things such
as the toothbrush and the calendar did they feel like they were inventing for all of humanity? Or, were
they just creating things based on their needs in the present moment not realizing the impact it would
have on the Africa and beyond? After my research, I found out that they were the original creators of
one of my deepest passions the art of barbers. The ancient Egyptians believed that being clean shaven
was a sign of good hygiene and class. This belief inspired them to create sharp stones that would trim
their hair; by advancing this technology they were able to carve out the first barbershop industry in
world civilization. The deep desire of intricate hair designs or braids, short hair or shaven heads, or the
desire for hair wigs organically led to the need of tools that could revision their hair. In research done
by W. Flinders Petries describes the relationship of hair design in ancient Egypt by stating, There were
periods when the head was clean shaven, others when it was left to grow, cropped short or worn
shoulder long or even longer by both men and women. Egyptians invention of the first barber tools

  • 2. Sports Injuries Research Paper Sports Injuries Sports injuries occur all the time, it is normal if two or three kids got hurt in a football game, that s not okay. In the U.S., about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports, and more than 3.5 million injuries each year, which cause some loss of time of participation, are experienced by the participants ( John Hopkins Medicine ). This is a problem that can be solved if everyone puts their mind to it. The way people could help is by working together to educate people, change method, and enforce laws. Sports injuries are a huge problem in our country right now and I believe we should try something new to prevent it. There are many sports players that are getting concussions, breaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The players do not get a good enough punishment for breaking the rules. There are 3 million annual injuries incurred during sports participation among children and adolescents in the United States, with injury defined as the one that causes time lost from sports participation ( American Academy of Pediatrics ). Although, many players are injured because other players are taking drugs. Doping and other drug usage is very common in professional leagues. Doping has also become an issue for professional sports in recent years , The issues have become so pointed in the early part of the 2000 s that congressional hearings occurred to investigate the widespread use of performance enhancing drugs in professional sports ( HGExperts ). Thankfully many organizations are already working on the issue. There is much help needed for the problem to be completely exterminated. Organizations such as the NOCSAE and ASTM International have developed helmet standards that specify test protocols and quantitative impact criteria or the Severity Index ( National Academy of Services ). People need to be aware of this very effective issue. With much help, sports injuries will be gone for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Understanding The Application Of Emotional Intelligence Connor Hennessy Understanding the Application of Emotional Intelligence In Negotiations The art of negotiation has many factors which can determine the outcome of win, lose, compromise, or in some instances where the negotiation ends in a standstill. One of the more influential factors that can determine an outcome of any negotiation is emotional intelligence. We can expect that with every faucet that goes into negotiation, emotional intelligence ranks higher than most techniques, because it creates an unquantifiable link between the negotiating parties. Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been around for over a decade, however, it is still being developed in the business sector of negotiation. It is recognized by senior and upper level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we exert negative emotions such as anger, irritability, impatience, and sadness we leave ourselves open to manipulation, and create communication barriers that did not exist prior to our outbursts. Spontaneous reactions or negative emotions such as blushing, embarrassment, aggressiveness, or retaliation can reveal or true intentions or our primary goals and objectives. This makes us vulnerable and the other issue can obtain concessions that weren t originally available. (Lewicki, Saunders, Barry, Negotiation Reading and Exercises 6th Ed. 2009) EI comes into play to help avoid these situations, and to keep us calm and level headed. Godemans, basic premise on emotional intelligence is taken from Do Purchasing Professionals Need Emotional Intelligence? (2002) Godeman introduces EI under the premise of Emotional Quotient (EQ), it gauges the individual s perceptions and attributes which define EI. In a sense, it s a benchmark, a measurement of their EI in relation to others. Godeman states these elements as The Seven Pillars to EI. These elements are defined by: Self Awareness, the ability to recognize your own feelings. Motivation is the drive and energy to achieve the results for both long and short term goals. Interpersonal Sensitivity, the ability to be aware of the needs and feelings of others, this can impact a negotiation as a loss or win. • 4. Exploratory Paper Before beginning the quantitative research report, we had to had complete an exploratory research report. This was necessary as it allowed us to see trends in relation to healthy eating. The exploratory research mainly consisted of qualitative questions as we wanted to see if there was any relationship between a cupcake and a chicken and spinach sandwich. After analyzing the results of the survey, we were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes to eating and purchasing healthy food. Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel as though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most interesting thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that organic food was a healthier option as compared to non organic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the fact that consumers had mixed opinions on the healthiness of organic food, we decided that creating a quantitative research survey would serve as a good opportunity to find more information on this topic. Our hypothesis was that organic food is perceived as a healthier option when comparing it non organic food, indicating that consumers are willing to pay more organic products. Ultimately, our research question and hypothesis relates to healthy eating as it illustrates how some consumers feel eating organic food is heathier, while some consumers feel that eating organic food isn t any healthier than non organic ... • 6. Cell Membrane And The Cell Body Neurons are made up of four regions, the cell body, dendrites, axons and presynaptic terminal. The cell body (soma) contains the nucleus of a neuron and the endoplasmic reticulum. Extending out from the cell body are processes called dendrites and axons. These processes conduct nerve impulses. Dendrites conduct impulses toward the cell body while axons conduct impulses away from the cell body. A fatty sheath called myelin sheath encases axons. It is the greatly expanded plasma membrane of an accessory cell called the Schwann cell where the sheath of one Schwann cell meets the next. The axolemma is the portion of the cell membrane surrounding the axon of a neuron and is responsible for maintaining the membrane potential of the neuron. A single neuron, especially one in the central nervous system may have thousands of other neurons synapsing on it. Some of these release activating (depolarizing) neurotransmitters; others release inhibitory (hyperpolarizing) neurotransmitters. An inactive or resting neuron actively pumps sodium out of the cell and potassium into the cell to maintain equilibrium. However, the plasma membrane is more permeable to potassium than to sodium, which results in some potassium to diffuse out of the neurons. Large, negatively charged proteins such as phosphate and sulfate cannot diffuse out of the neuron. This results in a net excess of positively charged ions outside the neuron membrane and net excess of negatively charged ions inside the neuron. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Explain Why We Should Be Able To Carry Concealed Handguns Another major reason why we should be able to carry concealed hand guns is for the protection of our self, families and other. The opponents support prohibition of guns as they claim concealed handguns are not effective methods of self defense. A person carrying a concealed gun for self defense is more likely to be shot during an assault than a victim who has no gun. Victims having guns are 4.5 times likely to be shot in an assault than victims without guns as they are not able to use concealed guns as attackers overpower them and also surprise them. In everyday life, there is a chance you will be put in a situation where self defense will be needed and there is also a higher chance that the criminal or person you are protecting yourself from will be armed. In many cases the police force appears a little bit too late to a situation and leave victims helpless until they finally arrive to the scene. • 9. Finding Truth In Mary Shelley s Fullmetal Alchemist Fullmetal Alchemist is a Japanese graphic novel by Hiromu Arakawa. The graphic novel follows a young scientist who goes by the name of Edward Elric. In the first volume, Edward claims, scientists... are in a sense the closest things to God, since they strive to uncover the principles of creation... the truth (Arakawa 22). But the ways in how scientists obtain these truths are different from how God obtains information. God is omniscient, so he does not have to look for answers; he knows everything. As for scientists, the only way they can obtain information is by the means of observation and performing experiments. When scientists do any scientific experimentation or begin to create, they should do it with kindness. If any form of experimentation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary Shelley warns the readers of the consequences of creating without kindness. She does this by putting her protagonist, Victor in a dilemma. At first, Victor calls his creation beautiful (Shelley 48). But after he completes his task, Victor says he cannot endure the aspect of the being of which he created (Shelley 49). And so he rushes out of the room and fails to compose his mind to sleep (Shelley 49). Victor s action and dialogue speak volumes about his lack of kindness. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, kindness is the quality or state of being gentle and considerate (Merriam Webster). Victor shows an inconsistent reaction towards his creation. He starts off with kindness. But it can be seen that this type of kindness does not last for long. Victor says he was unable to endure the pain of even looking at his creature (Shelley 49). The quote shows how inconsiderate and prejudice he is. Instead of proceeding with a gentle action, Victor rushes out of the room (Shelley 49). In no way was Victor showing any gentleness or consideration to his creation. Because of these events, Victor s life goes for the worse. Shelley goes on to show what happens to those who lack kindness towards their creation. She does this by providing a different perspective, from the monster s point of ... The American Cancer Society recommends that everyone should begin colon cancer screening tests at 50 years of age. A colonoscopy is one such test your doctor can order for a baseline and then repeat every ten years thereafter if the tests are negative. If your doctor finds early signs of cancer or polyps, you may need to have more frequent tests to keep an eye on your condition. While it may sound like an uncomfortable experience to endure, you will be sedated during the procedure, so you won t have much discomfort. You may take a pill the morning of the test, or your doctor may give you a sedative along with pain medications through an IV. The advantage of IV medications is they work quickly and wear off quickly. Plus, your doctor can adjust the dose to make sure you are kept comfortable. To perform this test, your doctor uses a flexible scope with a camera to look inside your colon. To get a good view of your colon wall, you ll need to take laxatives the day before to clean everything out of your system. It s important for your colon to be as clean as possible so your doctor doesn t overlook any tiny polyps. If your doctor sees a polyp, he or she can snip it out and send it to the lab to be tested for cancer. You may not have any polyps, but you could have one or several. They may or may not be cancerous. The frequency of your future testing will depend on the size, number, and cell characteristics of the polyps removed during your baseline colonoscopy. • 12. The Gold And Engineering Ethics Gilbane Gold and Engineering Ethics Ethics are fundamental in all human interaction; they guide or beliefs and behaviors, therefore fundamentally affecting how we live life. As Christians, it is especially important to live a life of ethics in order to follow the standard to which God has called us with the words: Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world (NASB). This responsibility to live life in a way that is caring and beneficial to others is especially important for engineers. Engineers are often held to a higher standard than most other workers due to the nature of an engineer s work to involve the safety of others. The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) has a Code of Ethics for Engineers that highlights a few of the most important aspects of proper ethical consideration in the work of an engineer. In the ethics video produced by the NSPE we see Z Corp a company responsible for providing commercial fertilizer break many of these ethical considerations. The three most considerable ethical issues seen in this video are: Z Corp lying to the public about the state of their product, using outdate, less accurate tests in order to pass contamination laws, and firing the most competent staff that they had to authorize the contamination released by the plant. • 13. Essay on Shakespeare s Soliloquies Hamlet s Soliloquy The purpose of a soliloquy is to outline the thoughts and feelings of a certain character at a point in the play. It reveals the innermost beliefs of the character and offers an unbiased perspective as it is merely the character talking to the audience, albeit not directly, and not to any other characters who may cause the character to withhold their true opinions. Therefore, Hamlet s first soliloquy (act 1, scene 2) is essential to the play as it highlights his inner conflict caused by the events of the play. It reveals his true feelings and as such emphasizes the difference between his public appearance, his attitude towards Claudius in the previous scene is less confrontational than here where he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hamlet communicates that his father was a divine, almost god like character, so excellent a king , who was so loving to my mother . He also illustrates the contrast between the new king and the old and as such his mother s choice, Hyperion to a satyr . This example of extreme contrast increases the importance of Hamlet s father and yet also makes a mockery of Claudius character; one which, to this point, the audience could have seen as strong and domineering. When Hamlet says, Frailty, thy name is woman , he is personifying frailty as the entire of the female race. The actions of his mother have lead him to believe that all women are capable of acting in this wicked way and that all women are weak. Alongside the image of his father that is communicated, Hamlet is saying, and therefore feeling, that the people that he could look up to in life have departed and that his entire world has been altered, It is not nor it cannot come to good . The distressed nature of Hamlet s mind is also communicated well by the imagery that is used throughout the soliloquy. At the start, Hamlet says that he wants his too solid flesh to ...melt, thaw, and resolve itself into a dew . This goes alongside the later lines, How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this world , where the build up of adjectives, one after the other, serves to highlight ... This also has an inverse relationship with the domestic market, where if there are sudden fluctuations in the international market, the domestic market may make up for the potential loss. Economies of scale are the reduction in costs of productions caused by increasing the scale of the production facility and spreading fixed costs over a larger output. This means that as Qantas expands to global markets, they can possibly gain more revenue through services and this would generate lower average costs and the potential for higher profits. Larson starts out by describing the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin and why he thinks it is such a great piece of scientific literature, and describes how it greatly affected the Christian community because a large part of it went against the Bible. He then explains the ideas behind evolution and natural selection. Larson stated that evolution was the theory that current living species evolved from preexisting species (Larson 14). He sets the background for the court case by stating that the teaching of evolution was banned in the schools of Dayton, Tennessee and that John Scopes was being prosecuted for teaching it to the class he was substituting. Following his explanation of the basis on the case, he describes the differences between fundamentalism and modernism. While The Unfinished Dance bears some resemblance to the original film, it cannot and should not be compared to Ballerina as a remake. They are two separate films with marked differences. One major contrast between them is the underlying theme of the pictures. In Ballerina, it is all about the dance. To dance is to live; to dance is to breathe. The Dance is greater than all our personal troubles, remarks Karine in one scene. In The Unfinished Dance, Meg s guilt takes center stage. Ballet becomes Meg s redemption. Director Henry Koster did a wonderful job of creating a disquieting atmosphere of tension in all of the scenes featuring O Brien. Meg is a hapless victim of a foolish and childish prank that she herself conceived and her guilt causes her to see the jail bars closing in on her. Every whisper is a personal threat to her safety. Every policeman an agent of Justice out to capture her. Margaret O Brien plays out the psychological tension that Meg feels with great skill, especially considering she was only nine years old at the time of filming, while Koster treats these sequences as though it were Robert Mitchum on the screen, running from another thoughtless crime he committed in haste. However, audiences didn t appreciate this peek into the mind of a child criminal, and the film lost nearly $1,800,000 upon its release. It was the only Joe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Comparing Erich Fromm s Disobedience As A Psychological... Erich Fromm wrote Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem, in 1963, an essay detailing balance between obedience and disobedience. Fromm cited that authority figures insisted obedience as a virtue and disobedience as a vice. He argued that disobedience began human history itself and necessary to continue it. Fromm first discussed a Biblical example: the story of Adam and Eve. Humans were in harmony with nature, yet still in their infancy. Prophets argued it is through man s sin can reason and love developed, and men become human. Only through disobedience were they able to grow into individuals and independence. Fromm drew onto the Greek myth of Prometheus as another source of evolution through disobedience. Prometheus theft of fire from the gods laid down the foundations for civilization. Both examples have mankind s history begin with disobedience. The capacity of disobedience allows humans to evolve. Fromm argues that if disobedience began history, then obedience will end it. While humankind s capability is great, it outpaces rational and humanistic ideals. Destruction will come through obeying amoral thoughts; commands from higher authority and archaic passions of fear, hate, and greed (p. 684, 11th ed.). Fromm clarifies that obedience or disobedience is not a single value system. The principles that guide in obedience or disobedience may be either good or bad.
