I aim to empower the local indigenous and non Indigenous adolescent girls in my country and their community members through “Campaign for Menstrual Hygiene " program so that the adolescent girls can live healthier lives and have more equal chances to reach their life potential. Women empowerment is an important subject for the Indigenous Minority communities in Chittagong Hill Tracts. Often lack of knowledge in Menstruation is causing or acting as an obstacle in women empowerment such as dropping out from schools because they are ashamed of speaking out about their abdominal pain and lack of access to hygiene products and water during their menstruation period. Through this program I and my team aim to promote awareness on menstruation, hygiene, sanitation ,sexual and reproductive health issues among adolescents girls through different educational sessions so that a positive attitude will come regarding sexual and reproductive health among them. Further, they will be able to express their difficulties to health workers and family, friends during the adolescent period without any hesitation because these issues are often culturally sensitive.
This presentation was the basis of a talk given at St. Ursula School in Pune on Menstrual Hygiene Management to an audience of 9th and 10th grade students.
This presentation on Female Health and Hygiene was part of the Girl Education event organized by Panashi Foundation, India (https://www.panashifoundation.org/) on 5 June, 2021.

Does your skin turn bright red, itch, or even break out when you switch laundry detergent? Are you done trying out and unable to enjoy all those tremendously fragrant lotions your family and friends give you during the holidays? If your answer is yes, then you may be dealing with sensitive skin.
Sensitive skin is not a specific diagnosis. It is a general name applied to a group of skin conditions. Whether it is an actual allergen such as poison oak or just a new body wash, sensitive skin will likely react to a stimulus.
Battling with the most common summer skin issuesKarlAnthonyBusa
Many of us are ready for summer and all it has to offer because it means more fun under the sun. But what do you when all of that summer fun starts taking its toll on your skin? It’s just a simple fact that the sun can damage our skin and cause various skin problems.
Keep your summer bump, rash, and itch-free by using these tips to prevent unwanted skin problems:
As nurses, we are responsible of helping our patients maintain good hygiene and physical comfort, especially if they are unable to do so. The simple morning care and bedside care can contribute a lot in meeting this need. Positioning of bedridden patients aim to maintain physical comfort. However, these activities are the ones commonly not prioritized, or worse, not done by nurses, especially in government hospitals.
Your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells to make room for new cells every thirty days. However, sometimes, dead skin doesn’t rid entirely, and exfoliation can help.
Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin using a chemical, granular substance, or an exfoliation tool.
The tricky thing about exfoliation is it can either work wonders for your skin, or it can destroy your skin barrier. While some people believe that exfoliation improves the appearance of your skin, it is not for everyone. If not done correctly, it could do more harm than good.
There are two main methods for at-home exfoliation, mechanical and chemical. Mechanical exfoliation uses a brush or sponge tool, or scrub that physically removes dead skin cells. Whereas chemical exfoliation uses chemicals such as alpha and beta hydroxy acids to gently dissolves dead skin cells.
If you choose to exfoliate, here are dermatologist-recommended tips to prevent further damage to your skin:
Are you washing your hands too much because of covid 19KarlAnthonyBusa
Hand hygiene is an essential public health measure in fighting any sickness or disease such as COVID-19. More than ever, people are urged to wash their hands regularly and diligently with soap and water to help prevent coronavirus spread.
With more washing, sanitizing, and disinfecting, the skin might become dry and develop dermatitis. People who get rashes from repetitive handHOTO -washing may experience symptoms of redness, flaking, blister, cracking, chronic skin thickening, pain, and itching. These skin changes usually appear at the back of the hands and the spaces between fingers. The skin on the palms is much thicker and therefore more resistant to irritants and allergic rashes.
Emollients are moisturising treatments applied directly to the skin to soothe and hydrate it. They cover the skin with a protective film to trap in moisture.
Emollients are often used to help manage dry, itchy or scaly skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis.
Emollients are available as:
Lotions – good for hairy or damaged areas of skin (such as weeping eczema) as they are thin and spread easily, but they're not very moisturising
Sprays – good for hard-to-reach areas and for sore or infected skin that shouldn't be touched; quickly absorbed
Creams – good for daytime use as they're not very greasy and are absorbed quickly
Ointments – good for very dry, thickened skin and for night-time use as they are greasy, thick and very moisturising; they're usually free of preservatives so are suitable for sensitive skin, but they shouldn't be used on weeping eczema
Bath Oils and Shower Products
Soap Substitutes
Leave-on emollients
Emollient lotions, sprays, creams and ointments should be applied directly to the skin. They should be smoothed, not rubbed, into the skin gently and in the same direction that your hair grows, to help prevent hair follicles from getting blocked.
They can be used to replace lost moisture whenever your skin feels dry or tight. They are very safe and you can't overuse them.
You may need to experiment with different emollients or try a combination. For example, you may decide to use a cream during the day and an ointment at night.

Title: Sense of Smell
Presenter: Dr. Faiza, Assistant Professor of Physiology
Qualifications:
MBBS (Best Graduate, AIMC Lahore)
FCPS Physiology
ICMT, CHPE, DHPE (STMU)
MPH (GC University, Faisalabad)
MBA (Virtual University of Pakistan)
Learning Objectives:
Describe the primary categories of smells and the concept of odor blindness.
Explain the structure and location of the olfactory membrane and mucosa, including the types and roles of cells involved in olfaction.
Describe the pathway and mechanisms of olfactory signal transmission from the olfactory receptors to the brain.
Illustrate the biochemical cascade triggered by odorant binding to olfactory receptors, including the role of G-proteins and second messengers in generating an action potential.
Identify different types of olfactory disorders such as anosmia, hyposmia, hyperosmia, and dysosmia, including their potential causes.
Key Topics:
Olfactory Genes:
3% of the human genome accounts for olfactory genes.
400 genes for odorant receptors.
Olfactory Membrane:
Located in the superior part of the nasal cavity.
Medially: Folds downward along the superior septum.
Laterally: Folds over the superior turbinate and upper surface of the middle turbinate.
Total surface area: 5-10 square centimeters.
Olfactory Mucosa:
Olfactory Cells: Bipolar nerve cells derived from the CNS (100 million), with 4-25 olfactory cilia per cell.
Sustentacular Cells: Produce mucus and maintain ionic and molecular environment.
Basal Cells: Replace worn-out olfactory cells with an average lifespan of 1-2 months.
Bowman’s Gland: Secretes mucus.
Stimulation of Olfactory Cells:
Odorant dissolves in mucus and attaches to receptors on olfactory cilia.
Involves a cascade effect through G-proteins and second messengers, leading to depolarization and action potential generation in the olfactory nerve.
Quality of a Good Odorant:
Small (3-20 Carbon atoms), volatile, water-soluble, and lipid-soluble.
Facilitated by odorant-binding proteins in mucus.
Membrane Potential and Action Potential:
Resting membrane potential: -55mV.
Action potential frequency in the olfactory nerve increases with odorant strength.
Adaptation Towards the Sense of Smell:
Rapid adaptation within the first second, with further slow adaptation.
Psychological adaptation greater than receptor adaptation, involving feedback inhibition from the central nervous system.
Primary Sensations of Smell:
Camphoraceous, Musky, Floral, Pepperminty, Ethereal, Pungent, Putrid.
Odor Detection Threshold:
Examples: Hydrogen sulfide (0.0005 ppm), Methyl-mercaptan (0.002 ppm).
Some toxic substances are odorless at lethal concentrations.
Characteristics of Smell:
Odor blindness for single substances due to lack of appropriate receptor protein.
Behavioral and emotional influences of smell.
Transmission of Olfactory Signals:
From olfactory cells to glomeruli in the olfactory bulb, involving lateral inhibition.
Primitive, less old, and new olfactory systems with different path

The Gram stain is a fundamental technique in microbiology used to classify bacteria based on their cell wall structure. It provides a quick and simple method to distinguish between Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, which have different susceptibilities to antibiotics
2. Vaginal and genital area is a sensitive and important
area
Good hygiene gives more
confidence
Strong sense of femininity and
satisfying sexuality
In order for the woman to be able to examine the vulva she must crouch and use a
mirror
3. A strange feeling of an abnormal form of her vulva
An embarrassment during sex can cause denial of
sexual intercourse
A feelinof unpleasant g smell.
Abnormally large or small labia (that maybe
corrected surgical)
4. Each woman must be sure that she has a normal area just like any other
woman but with minor differences that makes her unique and special
It is strongly recommended to consult your doctor if you feel some
itching, irritation or rash at vulvar area
Vaginal discharge is very common and most often it is physiological
and caused by hormonal changes.
The skin of the genital area is very sensitive and therefore requires a
good daily hygiene to achieve maximum comfort and enjoyment
during sex
The use of vegetable oils to moisturize and soothe the vulva
would be very beneficial providing more comfort and
flexibility especially after menopause
5. Different ways for taking care and removal of this hair
which depends on the type of skin and what each
woman prefer. She may prefer to:
1. Remove all the hair from the whole area
2. She can remove it from certain parts only
3. Trimming
4. For permanent hair removal laser can be done.
With this method there will be no irritation, or hair
growing under the skin, but be careful in choosing
the right place for that (specialized clinic or center)
6. Avoid allergic skin
reaction Burn from hot wax
In cases of active inflammation
such as herpes or blisters it is
recommended to trim the hair to
prevent the spread of inflammation
7. 1. Cleansers and products that do not contain
dyes or enzymes and perfumes should be
only used in cleaning underwear’s,
sportswear, towels and sleepwear.
2. Use half or third the suggested amount of
laundry products to minimize its
concentration.
3. Avoid the use of soothing clothes.
4. If you use products to remove stains, rinse
underwear in warm water before washing
again.
8. 1. Choose a good quality cotton fabric that absorbs
moisture and dries quickly
2. If your skin is sensitive or you have rash use
appropriate clothing and pants
3. It is better to avoid wearing underwear and pants
during the night, it is more appropriate to use pajamas or
even sleep naked
4. Underwear’s and cloths should be changed
immediately when they get wet after exercise or
swimming
10. Avoid using products that can cause irritation of the
skin of the genital area such as liquid soap and scented
lotions, though they have pleasant smell they can
cause skin irritation
Avoid douching which causes irritation by
interfering with the bacteria naturally present at
vulvar area and contribute in its protection.
If you have cleaning the area
with warm water and gentle rubbing with
hand is enough to keep the area clean
without causing irritation.
11. Try to used because you might
be allergic to a particular type of soap, usually organic
soap and natural products are preferred
bath bubbles, bath salt and
bath with scented oils if you have
sensitive skin.
If you have irritation,
by pressing and avoid rubbing
with the towel.
12. How To Treat Vulvar Itching
If no improvement with local anti
fungal or if it was associated with
skin rash; the cause might be
atypical fungus that needs specific
treatment.
The use of wet bandages can
relieve irritation
13. 1. After going to toilet, use smooth, white and
unscented toilet paper
2. Avoid wet napkins
3. Wash the area with warm water after
urination.
14. 4. After defecation, it is
important to wipe the genital
area from front to back not the
opposite
