Acne is a common skin condition caused by clogged hair follicles and excess oil. It primarily affects teenagers due to hormonal changes. Some tips to prevent acne include keeping the face clean, moisturizing daily, using over-the-counter acne treatments, limiting makeup use, avoiding hair products on the face, not touching the face, staying out of direct sunlight, eating a healthy diet, and reducing stress. Oily skin is caused by excess oil production in the skin and can be aggravated by cosmetic usage, humidity, diet, stress, and age. Tips to reduce oily skin include using hot water to wash, applying milk, lemon juice, or salt water to the face, and finding a

cne skin causes can appear on any part of your skin. Acne causes blemishes and bumps on the skin, especially on the face, shoulders, back, neck, chest, and upper arms. When oil and dead skin cells get stuck in hair follicles, it causes inflammation.
There’s no denying the psychological distress that acne skin causes may bring. Confidence and self-esteem can be affected by acne and acne scars, especially if they are located on the face or other highly visible portions of the body.
Along with acne and skin aging, enlarged pores are also one skin problem that tops the list. While they are entirely a cosmetic problem, some people find it annoying, and others think they would look better if they had smaller pores.
Pores are tiny openings in the skin that releases oils and sweat. They are also connected to your hair follicles. If your pores appear more prominent, it may be because of acne, increased sebum production, sun damage, and non-comedogenic makeup.
Although you can’t change the size of your pores, here are some ways to help minimize their appearance:

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. ACNE
Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, is a long-term skin
disease that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with dead
skin cells and oil from the skin.
Most people develop acne the most
common skin condition to some degree, but it primarily
affects teenagers undergoing hormonal changes.
3. What Causes of Acne?
• Acne is primarily a hormonal condition driven by male or ‘androgenic’
hormones, which typically become active during the teenage years.
Sensitivity to such hormones, combined with bacteria on the skin, and
fatty acids within oil glands, cause acne. Common sites for acne are
the face, chest, shoulders, and back -- the sites of oil glands.
• Acne lesions include whiteheads, blackheads, small bumps, and nodules and
cysts.
4. Though acne is essentially a normal physiologic occurrence, certain conditions may
aggravate the condition, including:
• Fluctuating hormone levels around the time of menses
(women)
• Manipulating (picking/prodding) acne lesions
• Clothing (for example, hats and sports helmets) and
headgear
5. Tips for Preventing Acne
1. Keep your face clean. Whether or not you have acne, it's
important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities,
dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface.
Washing more often than twice daily is not necessarily
better; it may do more harm than good. Use warm, not hot,
water and a mild facial cleanser. Using a harsh soap (like
deodorant body soap) can hurt the already inflamed skin
and cause more irritation.
6. 2. Moisturize
Many acne products contain ingredients that dry the
skin, so always use a moisturizer that minimizes dryness
and skin peeling. Look for "noncomedogenic" on the
label, which means it should not cause acne. There are
moisturizers made for oily, dry, or combination skin.
7. 3. Try the Acne Product
These acne products don't need a prescription. Most of them
have ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid,
glycolic acid, or lactic acid, which curb bacteria and dry your
skin. They may cause drying or peeling so start with a small
amount at first. Then you can adjust how much you use and
how often. Another option is a new OTC topical retinoid gel. It
works to actually keep the acne from forming. Use these
products with caution if you have sensitive skin.
8. 4. Use makeup sparingly
During a breakout, avoid wearing foundation, powder,
or blush. If you do wear makeup, wash it off at the end
of the day. If possible, choose oil-free cosmetics without
added dyes and chemicals. Choose makeup that is
labeled as "noncomedogenic," meaning it should not
cause acne. Read the ingredients list on the product
label before buying.
9. 5. Watch what you put on your hair
Avoid using fragrances, oils, pomades, or gels on your
hair. If they get on your face, they can block your
skin's pores and irritate your skin. Use a gentle
shampoo and conditioner. Oily hair can add to the oil
on your face, so wash your hair often, especially if
you're breaking out. Got long hair? Keep it pulled
away from your face.
10. 6. Keep your hands off your face
Avoid touching your face or propping your
cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you
spread bacteria, you can also irritate the
already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop
pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to
infection and scarring.
11. 7. Stay out of the sun
The sun's ultraviolet rays can increase inflammation and redness, and
can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark discoloration).
Some acne medications may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
Limit your time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2
p.m., and wear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants,
and a broad-brimmed hat. Whether you have pimples or not, always
apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher at least 20
minutes before sun exposure. Look for "noncomedogenic" on the
sunscreen label to make new pimples less likely. Read the ingredients on
the product label to know what you're putting on your skin.
12. 8. Feed your skin
Most experts agree that certain foods, like
chocolate, don't cause pimples. Still, it makes
sense to avoid greasy food and junk food and
add more fresh fruits and vegetables and whole
grains to your diet. Dairy products and foods high
in processed sugar may trigger acne. Avoid
these.
13. 9. Exercise daily
Regular exercise is good for your whole
body, including your skin. When you
exercise, avoid wearing clothing or using
exercise equipment that rubs your skin
and may cause irritation. Shower or bathe
right after exercise.
14. 10. Chill!
Some studies link stress with the severity of
pimples or acne. Ask yourself what's making you
feel stressed. Then look for solutions.
15. Oily Skin
Oils produced by the body keep skin healthy.
Oily skin (seborrhea) is a common cosmetic problem
that occurs when oversized oil glands produce
excessive amounts of oil (sebum) giving the
appearance of shiny and greasy skin. Genes and
hormones play the major role in whether or not you
have oily skin. Excessively oily skin can have
emotional and social impact. Some people experience
low self-esteem, feeling of unattractiveness,
embarrassment, irritation and frustration. Luckily, there
are plenty of ways to cut down on oiliness to make you
feel more confident and comfortable with your skin.
16. What causes of Oily Skin?
Oily skin ruins makeup, clogs pores, and is a pain to deal with. Don't let oily skin keep you down in the dumps.
Fight back by treating the root causes. Here are five common causes for oily skin:
1. Cosmetic Usage
Makeup is a great tool for covering up acne, oil, and breakouts. But what
you put on your face is just as important as how you take it off. When
choosing cosmetics, opt for labels with "oil-free" and "non-comedogenic."
When removing makeup, choose a quality toner to remove leftover gunk
from cosmetic usage.
17. 2. Environment
Excess humidity causes your skin to sweat and
become oily. In humid areas, you can feel the excess
moisture and oil as soon as you walk outside. Be sure
to stay on top of your cleansing rituals to combat
whatever nature throws your way.
18. 3. Diet
We all know that eating right has many benefits. But
from time to time, we may indulge. Be warned however,
for some people, consumption of high glycemic foods
may lead to overactive sebum production.
19. 4. Stress
We live in a stressful world. Our skin tends to overproduce
oil in times of stress. We've got enough on our plates
without having to worry about shine.
20. 5. Age
Skin is in a constant state of change as we age. You
may be experiencing wrinkles and breakouts at the
same time! It's important to find an acne blaster that
doesn't age your skin.
21. Tips for Preventing Oily Skin
1. Use the right water temperature. When you’re washing
your face, use hot water; this will break down the oil more
effectively than cold or warm water is able to. Hot water also
opens your pores, making it easier to clear out the excess
oil. When you finish washing your face, splash it with ice cold
water. This will close up the pores and tighten the skin,
keeping it clear of oil and grime for longer
22. 2. Milk
Milk is an excellent oil-free cleanser that makes your skin soft and
supply once you apply it. It minimizes or reduces the oil and sebum.
Process:
Take two teaspoons of milk and mix it with 4-5 drops of sandalwood
or lavender oil. Apply this at night time after thoroughly washing your
face so that all traces of makeup have been removed. Leave it overnight
or until it has completely dried. Wash it off using normal water.
Alternatively, you can have milk washes several times a day.
23. 3. Lemon Juice
Citrus fruits such as lemons can not only be used as a face wash for oily
skin but they also help refresh your face and skin, when applied. It’s a
great way to rejuvenate, revitalize your skin and get rid of excess oil.
Process:
Take a lemon and extract its juice. Now add equal amounts of water
and apply it using a cotton ball on your face. Let it dry for few minutes
and then rinse off with some warm water followed by cool water. This
will help remove excess oil. Follow it regularly to treat oily skin.
24. 4. Salt
Salt is a natural gift from sea. It acts as a strong desiccant and
removes oiliness and makes your skin dry.
Process:
Fill an empty spray bottle with some tepid water. Now add a
spoon of salt and stir it well. Now close eyes and gently spay
this salt solution on your face. Do this regularly once a day for a
month to get rid of oily skin on face.
25. 5. Use a special facial soap
Some soaps dry out your skin too much, causing your
face to create more oil while others contain ingredients
that clog pores and create more oil as well. Find a facial
soap - bar or liquid, it doesn’t matter - that is made
especially for oily skin. For extremely oily skin, a
detergent facial soap may be considered, but this may be
too harsh and dry out your skin too much.
26. Warts
• A Wart is a growth that develops on the
skin and grows. It can grow inward or
outward, cause a lot of problems, or not
have much of an effect.
• The growth develops when Keratin, on
the top layer of the skin, begins to grow to
fast.
• Warts are often small and the same
color as the skin, but this can vary
depending on type and severity.
27. Filiforms Warts
• Type of Flat Wart.
• Grow around mouth, nose, and beard area.
• Surface is flesh colored and finger shaped.
28. What Causes of Warts?
• The Virus enters the skin after direct contact with recently
shed viruses or by direct contact with an person who is
infected.
• Entry site of the virus is often the approximate area of a
recent injury.
29. • Incubation time can be one to eight months.
• Warts are caused by a virus that infects the skin; most
commonly HPV, or Human Papilloma Virus.
• Warts can grow anywhere on the body, and there are
different kinds.
30. Tips for Preventing Warts
1. Boost Up Your Body Immune System
Warts just like any other viral infections are very prevalent
in people whose immune system is wanting in terms of
immune boosters. For this reason it is acceptable to say that if
you were to adopt balanced diet that has all immunity
enhancing components then you would be able to prevent
yourself from getting infected with warts totally.
31. 2. Stay Sensitive
Always be sensitive of your body. This is one of
the easiest ways to prevent warts. If you notice
certain peculiar grazes on your body, always treat
them early using home remedies since they may
be signs of possible tumours growing on your
body, most probably warts
32. 3. Protect Your Skin
As much as dermatologists insist that Warts are spread
through body contact, the real issue on the ground is that
if your skin is ruptured that’s when your body is highly
predisposed to warts the most. Therefore, the secret to
avoiding contracting warts isn’t necessarily avoiding
physical contact with people (This is utterly impossible),
the trick here is to ensure that your skin is intact, no
ruptures, cuts or bruises.
33. 4. Avoid Biting Your Fingers And Scratching Your
Soles
Physicians have always warned about the susceptibility of people who
bite their fingers to Periungual warts, but most people don’t seem to
take this issue with the seriousness it deserves. Firstly, biting your finger
nails could break your skin tissue thus creating an opening for
secondary infections such as the HPV virus. Secondly, in case you were
infected with warts through contact with an infected person through your
fingers, biting your finger nails could as well facilitate transfer of the
viruses to other regions like your mouth and lips, thus predisposing
yourself to oral warts.
34. 5. Don’t Assume
There is a common confusion between wart and Callus
as well as corns. This is partly because the three
almost resemble each other. However if you assumed
that a Callus condition is a wart you may end up using
excessively lethal methods of curing the callus thinking
its wart.
35. • Avoid touching warts on yourself or others.
• Don't share razors, towels, socks, or shoes with another
person. Someone with no visible warts can still be carrying the
virus.
• Avoid walking barefoot on warm, moist surfaces where the
wart virus may be alive. Wear shower shoes when using
public showers, locker rooms, or pool areas.
• Keep your feet dry. If your feet sweat heavily, wear socks that
absorb moisture or wick it away from the skin.
• Avoid irritating the soles of your feet. Warts grow more easily if
your skin has been injured or broken in some way.
