Freshwater is water containing less than 1% salt, including water found on the Earth's surface and underground. There are three types of freshwater: lentic water found in still bodies like ponds and lakes; lotic water in flowing bodies like streams and rivers; and wetlands like swamps and marshes saturated with water. Freshwater covers about 3% of total water on Earth, with about 0.3% as surface water and the rest as ice caps and glaciers or groundwater. Problems affecting freshwater include loss of habitat, pollution, and overuse of resources.
This document discusses how developing a mobile app can help golf courses connect with more customers and increase revenue. Smartphone usage is growing rapidly and will surpass PC usage in 2012. A golf course app allows courses to market directly to customers through features like push notifications, leaderboards, and food and drink specials. This increased exposure and engagement with customers through mobile can result in more rounds played, memberships, and overall revenue for the course. The document advocates that courses develop an app and mobile strategy to reach more golfers, especially as smartphones become a main way people access online content and services.
This document discusses how to create an effective outline. It defines an outline as a blueprint or plan for a paper that shows the hierarchy and relationships between topics. There are two main types of outlines - a topic outline that uses words or phrases for each topic and subtopic, and a sentence outline that uses complete sentences. The document provides examples of each. It also covers the typical parts of an outline including the introduction with a thesis statement, body paragraphs with supporting evidence for each topic, and a conclusion. Key steps for creating an outline are identifying the main topic, gathering information, determining the outline type, and organizing the information in the proper format. Effective outlines demonstrate parallel structure, coordination, subordination, and proper division of topics.

The document argues that education is a defining characteristic of class. It claims that if one is educated, they will have money and be considered upper class. While money and class are related, education is a better indicator of class. Educated people are able to articulate their opinions clearly. However, semicolons are not as effective at articulation as coordinating conjunctions. Therefore, semicolons should be considered middle class rather than what educated, upper class people use to express themselves.
The document summarizes research on black hole solutions in gauged supergravity theories. It discusses how black holes in ungauged supergravity can be described using duality symmetries and extremality. For gauged supergravities, the addition of a scalar potential allows for asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes. The dynamics of scalar fields near black hole horizons are governed by equations modified by gauge field strengths and an effective black hole potential. Specific examples are given in theories with one modulus and special Kähler geometries.
Mobile technology is changing rapidly and driving changes in consumer behavior. Mobile devices now entertain users with apps and media, enable immediate access to information and transactions through location-based services, connect users locally through communication and searches, and are integrated into daily life with many users having their phones close by in the home. To keep up with these mobile trends, businesses need to create mobile-optimized websites, understand local consumers and how to engage them, leverage the personal nature of mobile to connect with audiences, and explore opportunities in mobile content consumption, commerce, banking, advertising and more. It is not too late for companies to adapt to the rise of mobile.

Mobile media module part 2 - audience & usage rev-mfMichelle Ferrier
The Mobile Media Module is designed as a two-week, broad-based study on the mobile landscape that can be applied in many courses.
The program was implemented at Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication to support our Scripps Innovation Challenge and to build knowledge of the mobile landscape across our communication curricula.
For implementation, we brought in an expert in mobile development to teach in four existing classes over two weeks in Spring 2013. Faculty teaching those classes became the students and built their capacity to teach the material in subsequent semesters.
By “hacking the curriculum” using the “module method,” we were able to reach more than 500 students in one semester with new material.
For more information, contact Dr. Michelle Ferrier, associate dean for innovation, Scripps College of Communication, ferrierm@ohio.edu.

Using Mobile Games to Inspire Meaningful Behavior ChangeSeriousGamesAssoc
The session will trigger a dialogue around the role of innovative technology to inspire behavior change. At GRID we are tackling critical social issues such as menstrual health, racial stereotyping, poor financial literacy and climate change. I believe you cannot solve a problem if you don’t talk about it and games are a perfect medium to engage change makers.
I wear two hats in my professional life, an international development practitioner (at the World Bank) and a social entrepreneur (at GRID). This mix of experiences has given me a unique opportunity to build skills that are compatible with large organizations as well as a small business. I would love to share my experiences around game development, fund raising, implementation challenges and building partnerships. I want to leverage the Serious Play Conference to talk about the role of innovative technology in changing the world around us.
The two key messages of the session will be:
(i) How to create low-cost games for the bottom billion
(ii) How to leverage games to address taboo topics such as menstrual health
2011 provided an array of beyond the browser opportunities and we at XM will continue to innovate and push our own limits for our clients to build those personal connections for their brands.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Digital Banking in the Cloud: How Citizens Bank Unlocked Their MainframePrecisely
Inconsistent user experience and siloed data, high costs, and changing customer expectations – Citizens Bank was experiencing these challenges while it was attempting to deliver a superior digital banking experience for its clients. Its core banking applications run on the mainframe and Citizens was using legacy utilities to get the critical mainframe data to feed customer-facing channels, like call centers, web, and mobile. Ultimately, this led to higher operating costs (MIPS), delayed response times, and longer time to market.
Ever-changing customer expectations demand more modern digital experiences, and the bank needed to find a solution that could provide real-time data to its customer channels with low latency and operating costs. Join this session to learn how Citizens is leveraging Precisely to replicate mainframe data to its customer channels and deliver on their “modern digital bank” experiences.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

Editor's Notes
A little bit about Gallus GolfThe Gallus team has been working in the mobile “space” since it mobile web/apps existed. We’ve developed nearly 100 apps across multiple industries now.We are now bringing our expertise to the golf industry.Today I want to talk about why mobile is so important to any business, especially golf.
I’m sure most of you are well aware of the mobile boom that is happening, but here are some remarkable stats.Go through each statRapid growthRapid adoption of appsGrowth is still increasingThis is relevant to golf
Two quotes that I feel really capture where we are with mobile technology.Comparing mobile now to traditional internet/PC 20 years ago, now is the time to act.Smartphone is becoming and will be the most effective marketing channel to any business. What is your course doing to leverage these trends?
One important feature we incorporate is leveraging the power of social media, but in a different way. Most golf courses think social marketing is having a Facebook page for their business. But REAL social marketing is not getting golfers to “like” your Facebook page, it is getting golfers to talk about YOUR course on THEIR Facebook page, to all of THEIR friends.Let me explain how this could work.(follow example)
So what are the keys to a successful mobile strategy? It must be branded for your course to help foster brand loyalty to your club.It must have compelling features that engage your golfer and enhances their experience. If not they will not use it.It must be truly social by leveraging the power of social media and turning your golfers into active referral partners.
We are all aware that the days of “Just build it and they will come” are something of the past. It is a competitive market, so you must do something to differentiate what you are offering at your course. Gallus Golf has developed the most comprehensive mobile app solution that helps to leverage the fastest growing trends today. And we can do it quickly too. You could have your golfers downloading your course app in as little as 3 weeks from today.
Thank you all for letting Gallus join you today. Please drop your business card on our table and we will be awarding one of you with $1,100 towards a custom app for your golf club.
