Essay Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification
Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification
In the early 19th Century, the growth of nationalism and the growing economic strength of the
German states was very great. The German s shared a common identity in the form of language race
and heritage such as music, literature and poetry. The growing improvements in communications and
transport also brought the states one step closer together. The reduction of the number of German
states from 365 to 39 states made each state more economically and militarily stronger.
Conditions, particularly economic conditions, were such in 1862 that Bismarck was able to build on
them and gain the credit for their successes.
Although Unification arguably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nationalism was also at a great high in Europe even reaching to countries out with Europe. The
majority of middle class liberals wished to instate an elected government with freedom of speech and
press. It was clear that these aims could be achieved through a unified Germany, therefore identifying
the liberals with the nationalist cause. In the 1840 s military manoeuvres and political decisions made
by the French which seemed threatening to the Germans provoked strong reactions from many of the
Germans leading to a growth in nationalism and the creation of nationalistic songs, sung by the
German troops such as, The watch on the Rhine . The revolutions, which took place in France, Italy
and the Austrian Empire along with the fall of prince Metternicht, encouraged the German nationalists
who longed for a unified Germany. The middle classes also pressed for political reform. Revolts in
Prussia caused the king to create a Prussian national assembly, which in the end failed due to lack of
strong leadership and right wing oppositions to the collapse of the assembly.

The Role Of Liberal Values At The International Level
4. By using its influence to diminish the role of liberal values at the international level
As China is becoming a global power today, China s views on liberal values are gaining a greater
share in the global marketplace of ideas negatively affects America s national interests, since its
growing power and the example of its development could have considerable ideological influence
upon other countries.
China s economic rising power has deflected international criticism of its records of democratization
and human rights. Human rights issues have indeed been given less importance during high level
official visits. Today, the U.S. president seldom directly demands the release of Chinese political and
religious dissidents. Under such circumstance, the United States and China are competing directly for
impact upon shaping the international rules and norms. China has been highly supporting recent
initiatives such as the G20, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the New Development Bank of
the BRICS countries, and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, in which Western
governments play a significantly smaller role than in longer existing institutions, such as WTO,
NATO, etc.
In addition to that, as I have argued before, although China does not fight against liberal democracy
with a counter ideology, it does approach the potential norm of promoting liberal democratic values
with the norm of international diversity.
The concept of international diversity is that

Eyewitness To History Day
My experience on eyewitness to history day was very fun. I was a guide to Barry Sweeney, who was
in the 24th division of helicopter pilots; he also participated in the desert sheild/storm operations. In
the beginning of the day I sat down with him and we talked for a bit while we waited for the opening
ceremony. He showed us a lot of things he used to help him pilot s helicopter. One story we were told
was that he was driving a military jeep type vehicle, and there were Iraqis walking by. So he said How
are you? and the Iraqi responded How you do? So he asked them What the f*** are you doing? (He
actually didn t curse in the story) So the Iraqi said Busch said drop weapons, take off shoes, go home.
f*** Suddain, we go home. He told us other stories like how somebody set up a latrine next to the spot
where he was supposed to land his helicopter, and so the person in there; so the person came out of the
latrine covered in Doody . There was another time where one person had made a model of the battle
field to present to the general, to show what he thought should be the next course of action for the
military; complete with sand hills, and detailed little figures. When Mr. Sweeney flew the general into
the camp, he was landing, the downdraft from the helicopter was blowing away the sand and the
figures, so the person who made it was laying on top of the model, desperately trying to stop the sand
from blowing away. There was another time that he was flying with the ... Show more content on

There were search parties being conducted and my client drove to Georgia to look for his son. A

was deceased. An autopsy concluded that there was foul play and that this incident would be
investigated as a homicide. Following the investigation, three local Georgia men were determined to
be involved in the murder of my client s son. The investigation concluded the belief that these three
gentleman lived in a nearby apartment complex. They premeditated to murder my client s son based
on a robbery. They believed that the young man had sold a truck earlier in the day. The three men
charged requested that the young man help move some furniture at their apartment. During this event

Schindler s List Research Paper
Schindler s list Schindler s List is one of the most important movies ever made, and I also believe it is
one of the best. The subject matter alone makes it a movie worth watching, but this passion project
brought to life the legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg transcends being just a work of art.
Schindler s List is a true masterpiece. So many movies are just fluff pictures, but Steven Spielberg
made this movie into a masterpiece of cinema.
There is a beautifully framed set of over the shoulder shots when Amon Goeth is having a
conversation with Oskar Schindler when they first meet. It switched from a mid over the shoulder shot
looking at Amon, who is placed on the left, to a similarly framed shot of Oskar on the right. Showing

In Steven Spielberg s attempt to show the spontaneity of the events, during scenes like the liquidation
of the ghetto, he would grab a hand held camera and walk around the actors. He was trying to give the
viewer a sense of what it would be like to actually be in those situations, and make the camera as
unobtrusive as possible. When Itzhak Stern leaves his apartment to the street Spielberg uses the hand
held camera to represent the chaos of the moment. The germans are screaming at him, the streets are
packed with people, and they are shooting families.
There is a fantastic panning shot of the Jews and the Germans listening to the radio announcing the
end of the war. The camera pans to the left showing the faces of the Jews as they realize the war is
really over. Then they show the germans faces as they realize they lost the war. It shows the
similarities, and the differences very well of the two situations.
A beautiful dolly shot is right at the end of the movie when oskar is fleeing, and the camera is pointed
at Schindler behind the window of the his car. You see his face, but reflected in the glass are the faces
of the Jews he saved, as the camera moves with the car. The car and camera are moving to the right,
and you get the feeling that everything is over, and they are safe

atmosphere throughout. Although to begin with the book seems to be quite positive, (the boys have

savagery, fear and betrayal. The ending of the book leaves the reader feeling pessimistic about human

boys treat the conch with respect and they answer to its call. However later on in the book, when Jack

knows that if the conch becomes unimportant everything will fall apart. This is because the just as

Encounters Failure
When an individual encounters failure, there is a feeling of defeat that they experience, although that
feeling can ultimately push someone down the right path which eventually results in success. Most
people can say that they had to fail at one point throughout their life before they reached their peak of
success. The Pursuit of Happyness, directed by Gabrielle Muccino, is a film that displays how failure
plays a significant role in an individual s life as they are striving towards success. The protagonist in
the film, Chris Gardner, demonstrates how one can overcome adversity and failure, and use it as a
stepping stone on the path towards their determined success. Chris experiences initial failure that starts
him on the proper path towards success, he faces failure along his journey towards his goal that forces
him to work even harder and giving him a better chance at success, and he finally attains all of the
success he had been working extremely hard for due to all of the failure he endured along the way.

Motivation In Beowulf Essay
Beowulf s Motives
(A Discussion on Beowulf s Motivation to Kill the Three Monsters)
The story of Beowulf, as many call it was originally an epic poem. This poem is known worldwide
and with reason. Being presented for the first time, sometime before 1000 BC. Its also known as the
most important Greek poem ever. Alongside the well known Iliad. Both are known as epic poems
which are passed down orally but are considered long narratives. Beowulf is the earliest of any epic
poem of that time period. Beowulf being the main character, travels from his home land to a foreign
country, where they have been ravaged by a monster named grendel. Which leads to another monster
which is Grendel s mother. The poem ends with Beowulf killing his last monster, a dragon. But the
reader is met with the question why did he do all of this? Beowulf s motivations in the epic poem
Beowulf are presented as his duty to do so, for the fame and glory, and to sacrifice himself for the
betterment of others.
In the epic poem Beowulf, Beowulf s first motivation, that the reader is presented, is his anglo saxon
sense of duty. The anglo saxon code is a very large factor in this epic poem as it is what Beowulf lives
his life after. But Beowulf s sense of duty calls him to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Symbols In The Bloody Chamber
The presentation of gifts is an important aspect of modern day relationships, with the entire fourteenth
of February dedicated to the exchange of chocolates, flowers, and jewelry. These presents are meant to
serve as tokens of affection; symbolic of the devotion between lovers. However, Angela Carter
presents these same gifts as obstacles that mediate the interactions between a couple, often to the
detriment of the relationship. In her modern reimagining of The Grimm s Fairy Tales, The Bloody
Chamber, Angela Carter perverts these symbolic displays of love to illustrate that a relationship
mediated by gifts, masks, and secrets will suffer the consequences. The gifts exchanged in these
stories act as barriers between lovers, obscuring each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Marquis and his wife in The Bloody Chamber suffer from distorted perceptions, and this is
smphasized in the repeated use of mirrors. Around their marital bed, there were mirrors on all the
walls, in stately frames of contorted gold (14). Everything that happens in that room is amplified and
multiplied, and reflected in the description of contorted gold is the idea of the distortions an image
bears when it is mirrored. Their multitude forces his bride to watch as a dozen husbands approach
[her] in a dozen mirrors (15). Her actual husband is lost among all the imposters and again, she is
forced to see him refracted through the glass. In the same way that her perceptions of her husband are
altered, she feels distorted. She states that I seemed reborn in his unreflective eyes, reborn in
unfamiliar shapes, which highlights how mediation has corrupted the relationship (20). Within the
same story and in direct contrast, the piano tuner Jean Yves is an example of the power of undistorted
perceptions. Though he is blind, he does not suffer from the same misinterpretations. While it is ironic
that the blind man sees the clearest, it proves that the lack of mediation does not refer only to sight.
His blindness and correlated success also highlights the issues the mirrors caused with the Marquis
because he cannot fall prey to the secondary

Analysis Of Primo Levi s Book Survival In Auschwitz
Primo Levi describes in his book, Survival in Auschwitz, the horrors inflicted upon the prisoners
contained within Auschwitz and their struggle to remain themselves and to survive within the camp.
The sign placed at the entrance of Auschwitz read the words, Arbeit Macht Frei , or Work Gives
Freedom , an ironic statement considering the Nazis took everything away from these individuals that
constitutes established human rights and freedom. Without the elements that make up a human being,
there was limited freedom for the prisoners. What are the possible meanings of Arbeit Macht Frei ,
and could the prisoners obtain any freedom ? While the freedoms of the prisoners were limited in
Auschwitz, Primo Levi shows in his book, Survival in Auschwitz , that the prisoners could gain a
sense of freedom through hope of release, death, or mental suppression. First, it would be very helpful
to this paper to describe the ways that Nazis deprived the individuals in the concentration camp of
their freedom. The Nazis main goal was to completely exterminate the Jews, and if one was a Jew, the
Nazis discriminated against them and either transported the Jews to a concentration camp or to a
crematorium. Upon transportation, the Nazis ripped everything away from the individuals that made

Will Electronic Publications Ever Replace the Book?
At one time our world was strictly an oral culture. We recited stories, kept records stored in our
memories. When writing was invented did we suddenly stop speaking to one another or remembering
facts? Of course not. At any given moment we can recall, from memory, names, dates, and places that
we have committed to memory. When the printing press was invented, did we stop writing by hand?
Again, no. So, why would we stop reading a book just because we have access to the World Wide
Web? All previous information technologies of language, rhetoric, writing and printing are
technological in themselves (Landow 218). These technologies writing, speaking, ... Show more

For these books the Internet makes life much easier. If, however, what you want is a story: an
engaging novel with plot twists, vivid characters, and a story you can relate to, you may be reluctant to
jump on your computer I understand. Stories such as these are meant to be read while curled up on a
chair sitting next to a roaring fireplace, but who has the time for that anymore? The Internet novel
could very well become the book on the go. Therefore, anywhere that you have Internet access, which
is growing by the minute, you have your book their waiting for you.
Electronic publications have not only increased access to text, they have even created new ways to
view and interpret literature, not to mention new ways to write it (Landow 223). Some would argue
that electronic publications leave little room for the true author the Hemingway s and Thoreau s that
write in secluded cabins, scratching novels on loose paper but I disagree. Internet authors, while more
common that those published in book form, may be in fact be held to a higher standard. The true
author is not leaving the picture, as some fear, but is now expected to continuously paint it. Authors
are evolving into constant suppliers of new content; they are reporters and advisors as much as they
are writers (Pang 349).
The downside to amateur web publications is that the works may not be as well edited as those found

The Pont Du Gard In Nimes From 20-16 BCE, And The Pantheon
Roman Architecture has always been embraced deeply due to the simplicity and the aesthetic
sensation it communicates. However, the actual reason it is truly recognized, is by its very structured
and functional design methodology. The idea of design methodology can be broken down into many
aspects. These aspects include ideas such as, materials used (brick and concrete), design concepts,
design techniques (arches, vaults, domes) and how each design satisfies its intended purpose and large
exterior and interior spaces. There are many important Roman designs, but the two designs that
demonstrate the Roman design methodology is the Pont du Gard in Nimes from 20 16 BCE and The
Pantheon from 125 A.D.

In the Pantheon, the primary materials used in the Pantheon include brick, granite, concrete, volcanic
rock. The importance of concrete in this designed is it helped create the so famous dome in the
Pantheon. (Encyclopedia Britannica). The dome has a circular oculus in the middle which emits light.
The heavy dome is held by concrete foundations and is made of concrete which demonstrates how
they mastered concrete so greatly. According to (Encyclopedia Britannica), the dome measures about
142 feet in diameter and has a rising height of 71 feet above its base. (The dome also is said to have a
brick faced walls inside the design for support. The design also has arches and vaults that serve as a
structural load. The arches are laid around the dome in a manner that acts as compression to the dome.
This design technique of using arches as support for domes is very crucial to understanding why the
Romans could have such heavy structures. The vaults also served as a crucial aspect in this design
because vaults are a series of arches that create a structural load. The arches helped created
compression between the domes and the vaults which were in the bottom of the pantheon help create
compression with the arches making the dome very strong. Understanding the importance of the

Starbucks largest intangible resource must indisputably be the loyal consumer. Starbucks offers the
customer much more than a cup of coffee. The company offers a place to think and gather; a tastefully

Three weeks ago I pulled an all nighter. Around 5am, craving caffeine, I decided it was time for a
Starbucks break. I hopped in the car and drove down the street, pulled up outside Starbucks, and
noticed the sign was still dark and the lights were off inside. I thought they opened at 5am, but it was
Sunday and the store was still closed. I stopped the car, went up to the door to look at the hours so I d
know when to come back, turned around to walk back to the car.
I figured the coffee would have to wait...

Stereotypes In The Future Of Life By Edward O. Wilson
Stereotypes are always present and may lead to conflicts between groups because of the thoughts that
are assumed, even though they are not always accurate. As represented by Edward O. Wilson in The
Future of Life, the use of stereotypes in both the people first critics and the environmentalists against
each other s causes an unproductive nature by Wilson s use of pathos and similar structural aspects.
The opposing attitudes represented by both the groups of each other heavily relies on the use of pathos
by Wilson because particular facts or inclusions may invoke some emotion or cause people to think
differently about a specific situation. A great attack on the environmentalists from the people first
critics was stating that they are far left

The remarkable differences between the trait and behavioural theory are that the last one emphasises
on both the accomplishment of the task as the main indications for the leader success, and employees

Situational leadership: According to this theory, the effectiveness of the leader is significantly
correlated with situational factors which restrict the performance of the leader positively or negatively.
In other words, the efficiency of leader s skills or traits are determined by the situation in which
leaders exercise leadership (Dessler,1976), These factors are:
Follower s contributions.
The availability and the utilization of the resources.
However, creating the harmonisation and the collaboration between the situational factors and the
leader are essential to determine leader s effectiveness.
Contingency Theories: basically, the assumption of this theory, that the behaviour of the leader can not
be standardised, instead, the leader should consider situational factors. The success of the leader in this
theory is measured by the ability of leader to adopt such a style to achieve certain task with a
consideration to the followers.
This theory was the beginning of new view of leadership; based on this assumption other contingency
theories were emerged such as, Fiedler s concept of situational favourability (1967), which

The profitability is not high, but at least, the fixed costs will be paid and maybe some profitability will
be achieved.
Opportunity Costs are used to measure the costs of the resources. They can be defined as the cost of an
alternative that must be forgone in order to pursue a certain action, or the benefits received by taking
an alternative action, or, still, the difference in return between a chosen investment and one that was
passed up. As example, the benefit of studying a MBA and spending money on it or save the money
for future expenses, or better saying, using the money to pay expenses in daily basis.
Conclusion
Various terms are used to describe costs. Having an understanding of these terms will provide a better
insight to managers and companies on making budget decisions, efficiently. Not only the ones
described above should be considered, but also all types of costs related to the decision in effect.
Efficient managers will considered all aspects related to the analyses in question.

The Traditional Family And Social Development Of The...
A snapshot of the classic yet desired white family of the 1950 s: a pale skinned man with a pressed tie
and shiny dress shoes, enjoys the pancakes and eggs his slender and sweet wife had prepared for him
before work. The gentle figure leans to kiss her children who hustle to catch the school bus, a full
lunch box in each hand and new toys for show and tell. However, this depiction of the traditional
american family has been greatly modified. In her family history course, Stephanie Coontz asked her
students to illustrate their own concept of a traditional or perfect family. Unsurprisingly, the
predominating result was the stereotypical nuclear family, consisting of only father, mother, and
children. This had once been culturally correct, but beginning in the mid 1900 s, the ideal American
family has changed immensely with social development. Although the traditional family still exists in
several households across the nation, the majority of families are far from the initial standards.
A monumental change to the traditional American family came in 2015 when same sex marriage was
legalized. This momentous step to ensure the acceptance and rights of ranging sexualities had not only
enhanced the quality of life for same sex couples, but also transformed the iconic household. Now that
gays all across the nation were granted their right to marry, it was no longer necessarily husband and
wife but the classic couple could be wife and wife or husband and husband . This

vincent van gogh Essay examples
Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post impressionist painter, whose work represents the archetype of
expressionism, the idea of emotional spontaneity in painting. Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853, in
Groot Zundert, son of a Dutch Protestant pastor. Van Gogh s birth came one year to the day after his
mother gave birth to a first, stillborn child; also named Vincent. There has been much speculation
about Vincent van Gogh suffering later psychological trauma as a result of being a quot;replacement
child quot; and having a deceased brother with the same name and same birth date. Early in life, he
displayed a moody, restless character that was to spoil his every pursuit. This theory remains
unproven, however, and there is no actual historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite Vincent s noble intentions, representatives of the Church strongly disapproved of van Gogh s
somberness and dismissed him from his post in July. Refusing to leave the area, van Gogh moved to
an adjacent village, Cuesmes, and remained there in abject poverty. For the next year, Vincent
struggled to live from day to day and, though not able to help the village people in any official
capacity as a clergyman, he nonetheless chose to remain a member of their community. One day
Vincent felt obligated to visit the home of Jules Breton, a French painter he greatly admired, so with
only ten francs in his pocket he walked the entire 70 kilometers to Courrières, France, to see Breton.
After arriving, however, Vincent was too afraid to knock and returned to Cuesmes absolutely
discouraged.
All the years of hard work, of continually refining his technique and learning to work in new media,
all served as stepping stones toward the production of Vincent van Gogh s first great painting: Potato
Eaters (1885, Rijksmuseum Vincent van Gogh, Amsterdam). His experiences as a preacher are
reflected in this painting. Vincent worked on The Potato Eaters throughout April of 1885. He had
produced various drafts in preparation of the final, large oil on canvas version. The Potato Eaters is
acknowledged to be Vincent van Gogh s first true masterpiece and he was encouraged by the outcome.
Although angered and upset by any criticism of the work (Vincent s friend and fellow artist,

Between preferences and nutrition, everyone s diet differs. There is a very common acceptance of
what should be eaten in society. Rarely in the United States like the idea of forcing someone to live

It happens all over the world from India to Iceland Consider the Lobster by David Foster Wallace
explores the whole world of lobster and what it means to the people of Maine and the greater United
States. In doing so it s not only exposing the thought process behind eating lobster but numbers of
other animal species as well. Lobster is a great example because no one truly knows what lobsters feel
but in the absence of clear facts it seems they choose to be what outsiders would consider cruel.
Wallace is great a showing how big of an industry the lobster is and anyone who knows big business
knows that it has the capability of literally influencing people s lives and culture. Lobsters are just like
most animals we encounter daily that we don t eat, but that s not what people feel. Pre existing

To recap, you have three separate MP s; the first is to setup your spacecraft and export the state vector
as an ephemeris. Then the second MP is used to apply the Black Jack point solution data file to the
ephemeris file using a Kalman Filter tool. The final MP then uses the Tracking Data Editor to generate

The Spacecraft step size should be identical to the Kalman Filter step size. This is mainly due to the
Kalman Filter step size taking precedent in FreeFlyer and wanting to ensure that the spacecraft
propagation is synced with the Kalman Filter. o Also under the Motion Model you are using 22 Zonal

Beatrice In Much Ado About Nothing
Abstract: This paper deals with the character analysis of Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing. The
story is set in Messina. This is the story of culmination of a chaste woman, Hero. Though Beatrice is
supposed to be a supporting character in the play, she however steals the show. Her intelligence
combined with her softness makes her the most awesome character of the play. She sees the
inappropriateness of the world and instead of being a silent observer, she chooses to raise her voice
against it, which is a sure sign of wisdom.
Introduction: The character of Beatrice in the play Much Ado About Nothing is one of the strongest
female characters of Shakespeare. In the play, Beatrice is the niece of Leanato, the Governor of

We can clearly understand this when, while talking about Hero getting married, Antonio, Leonato s
brother says to Hero Well niece, I trust you will be rul d by your father . (ActII.Scene1, 35 40).
Throughout the play, we understand that Hero is a woman solely constructed by the norms of the
society and family. She does not have her own say. Throughout the play she is being suppressed by the
societal norms. Shakespeare has structured the character of Hero on the lines of a traditional
Elizabethan woman, silent and dominated. Through the character of Hero Shakespeare has tried to
portray the piteous state of Elizabethan women. However, Beatrice was a little different. She openly
objects male dominance. She was not ready to submit herself to male dominance and authority. While
talking to her uncle Leanato about her marriage, Beatrice clearly says, Not till god make men of some
other metal than earth: would it not grieve a woman to be overmastered with a piece of valiant dust, to
make an account of her life to a clod of wayward marl? No, uncle, I ll none. Adam s sons are my

Why Do Parents Need To Spank Essay
Most parents have debates in whether to spank or not spank when it comes to their children discipline.
However, the first and the most common response of many parents are to spank, then probable trouble
back in their mind and ask themselves, did my response was okay? Many parents do not even bother
to stop and think through their actions. Commonly corporal punishment comes out of hands; it is not

Although some studies show that a parent uses more corporal punishment from the time a child is 1 ½
to 3 years old (Socolar, R. S., Savage, E., Evans, H. 2007, p.476). Most children get spank or punish,
even do they do not know what they do; they are just a child who is trying to experiment with life.
However, parents use corporal punishment in kids who are not capable of understanding jet.
Nevertheless, these children are learning obedience through use of physical force with the intention of
causing a child to experience pain, but no injury, for the purpose of correction or control of a child s
behavior (Fréchette, S., Zoratti, M., Romano, E. 2015, p.135), (Straus and Donnelly 2001, p.4). Even
so, the used of corporal punishment can make a child more aggressive instead of correcting their
behavior, the frequent use of physical punishment the child thinks that is part of life, and that is the
way to show love. Does corporal punishment is the only way that a parent can harm a child? Given a

Unpacking Spinoza s Ontological Argument
Unpacking Spinoza s Ontological Argument in Regards to Monism
Baruch Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher who was active in the mid to late 17th century. In Spinoza s
ontological argument he attempts to prove the existence of God as the root of all things that everything
is created from as well as proving that God is the only true substance. According to Spinoza, It
pertains to the nature of a substance to exist (Spinoza). This means that Spinoza believes existence is a
necessary property of any single thing. Everything that exists is a substance or an affection (mode).
This disagrees with other philosophers discussed throughout the course, such as Kant, who felt that
existing was not a necessary property and that it could not be assumed ... Show more content on

This means that existence is an inherent property of every substance and that existence is an attribute
of every substance.
Secondly, Spinoza claims that, Two substances having different attributes have nothing in common
with one another (Spinoza). He uses Definition 3 to justify this claim: By substance I understand what
is in itself and is conceived through itself, i.e., that whose concept does not require the concept of
another thing, from which it must be formed (Spinoza). In this Spinoza states that this substance is
made up entirely of itself whilst simultaneously having been created by itself. Since the substance is
created from itself, it is impossible for it to have been conceived by something else and therefore
cannot share the same attributes as another substance.
Spinoza also states that If things have nothing in common with one another, one of them cannot be the
cause of the other (Spinoza). According to Axiom 5, because these things have nothing in common,
they cannot be understood through the other substance meaning that they cannot be the cause.
Additionally, since Definition 3 makes it clear that the substance is entirely created from itself it is not
possible for things that have nothing in common with one another to be the cause of its

Gould And Lewontin Point Of View
Contemporary science has assimilated the bigotry views that it hoped to fend off. The scientific
community, their ideas and perceptions, account for the accepted scientific beliefs rather than the
perpetual, and actual scientific theories. Gould and Lewontin s essay The Spandrels of San Marco is
about an adaptationist programme and how it has taken over evolutionary belief in England and the
United States during the past forty years. The people believe in the power of natural selection as a key
mechanism of evolution. The writers don t see eye to eye with this thought and are trying to reassert a
competing theory that organisms must be seen as integrated wholes. Gould and Lewontin show their

Throughout the rest of Spandrels there is repetitive usage of the this connotation, that adaptation is the
only paradigm for science. Adaptation is elevated in status when the authors refer to the works done
by naturalists; the word choices of these experimenters place natural selection as the perfect
culmination of traits. Whereas as Gould and Lewontin s beliefs do not strictly follow one model for
nature; rather it incorporates all possibilities.
Gould and Lewontin also use quotations to further explain the pluralistic perspective of the
evolutionary theory. They refer to the paleontology article[, which] ends with a long quotation from
Count (1947) (Myers, 269). The goal that Gould and Lewontin go for referring to this event is having
a reader decide whether to take it as a prescient forerunner of Gould s opinion or as a dated belief now
superseded (Myers, 269). That is to say whether following pluralism is the opinion of Gould or
something necessary for science to advance and move forward. Gould and Lewontin use the example
of fingerprints at the end of their essay to get the readers to really consider the impacts that adaptation
has had;
Then I spoke of the failure to discover the origin of these patterns, and how the fingers of unborn
children had been dissected to ascertain their earliest stages, and so forth.

History of the Eucharist
History of the Eucharist The Sacrament of Eucharist is the most frequently received Sacraments in the
Catholic Church. The matter in the Sacrament of Eucharist is the bread and wine, which changes into
the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The Sacrament of Eucharist is dated in the Bible as far back to the
Old Testament, indirectly as the Israelites flee from Egypt in the desert, and God gives them manna to
eat. This happens multiple times while the Israelites are searching for the Promised Land. The most
important part of the Bible when the Eucharist is received, is when Jesus and the Apostles are at the
Last Supper. Through the Sacrament of Eucharist, Jesus breaks the bread and passes it around to his
apostles. Then, Jesus says that one of them will betray him, and whoever dips the bread in the wine at
the same time he does will be the one who will betray him. As we know Judas was the one who
betrayed him, and must have been the one to dip the bread in the wine at the same time as Jesus. Even
though all the Gospel writers wrote about Jesus Matthew, Mark, and Luke wrote about the meal Jesus
had with his Apostles the night before his death, not John. Between the Resurrection of Jesus, and the

The Importance Of Student Success
Scientist have research that about 90% of the people don t achieve their goals because of the
challenges encountered. Many of our students here in the city of Anaheim are faced with challenges
everyday and sometimes don t know how to deal with them. My argument is that student success is
founded upon giving full effort from students rather than by achieving good grades. In the research
story of the secret to raising smart kids by Carol Dweck is a research based paper on the achievements
of students. The mastery oriented children, on the other hand, think intelligence is malleable and can
be developed through education and hard work. They want to learn above all else. After all if you
believe it that you can expand your intellectual skills, you want to do just that, because slipups stem
from a lack of effort, not ability, they can be remedied by more effort (27).The student intellectual
intelligence can grow by studying. They believe that intelligence is malleable. It can be changed or
shaped by the hard work and what things we change. If school in Anaheim cared about their education
we would be talking about different topics. Since we would be putting so much effort to our changes
of habit to better understanding in school we would be satisfied with our results. Many of us would try
again and again if it is possible to get a better result. Putting effort can take time but at the end it is
worth it. Many of our students believe a challenge changes their intelligence view.

What Is Snowboarding Persuasive Essay
Hunter S. Thompson once said, Anything that gets your blood racing is probably worth doing.

snowboarding during anytime throughout my life.
The cool winter air stung my face as I exited through the ski lodge door. Board in hand, I stepped onto

compacting underneath my weight. I nervously made my way over to the top of the bunny hill where a
tall, beat up looking man named Dave stood. He looked as if the cold weather had made him age
quicker than the rest. The earnest look on his face caused me to shudder in fear. His eyes pierced
through my soul as if warning me not to go through with this. I took a deep breath as I realized how ...

Christianity and Life After Death Essay
Christianity and Life After Death
Life after death is an essential part of the Christian religion. Jesus, the son of god, died on the cross
and three days later he rose again from the dead, the resurrection. Hundreds of people saw him. This
has given Christians the hope that when they die, they will live on in another place. Christians believe
in heaven and hell. If a person lives a good moral life they can expect to get to heaven, when they die.
If they live an immoral life then perhaps hell will be an alternative.

Faith is very important to Christians. No one living today has seen god, and no one has seen heaven or

that cannot be seen.
In Anglican, orthodox and Roman Catholic traditions smearing the sick are a ceremonial action which
can be requested for very ill people. When it is performed on a dying person it is often referred to as
the last rites . It involves rubbing oil on the person s forehead and in the Roman Catholic tradition, the
feet and the hands too. It symbolizes the healing of the mind and the strengthening of spirit and is
accompanied by special prayers.
At the death candles are often placed near the coffin as a symbol for the future life and a reminder of
the light of Christ who is the means of redemption. In Roman Catholic and orthodox services incense,
with its smoke rising upwards as a symbol of prayer, is sprinkled over the coffin
After death the place of burial is marked with a stone, often in the shape of a cross as a reminder of
Jesus death and resurrection. Some churches have a memorial garden where the ashes of cremated
people are placed with plaques, often with Christian symbols and words.
In many towns and villages there is a stone memorial cross to commemorate those who have dies in

  • 2. Essay Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification In the early 19th Century, the growth of nationalism and the growing economic strength of the German states was very great. The German s shared a common identity in the form of language race and heritage such as music, literature and poetry. The growing improvements in communications and transport also brought the states one step closer together. The reduction of the number of German states from 365 to 39 states made each state more economically and militarily stronger. Conditions, particularly economic conditions, were such in 1862 that Bismarck was able to build on them and gain the credit for their successes. Although Unification arguably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nationalism was also at a great high in Europe even reaching to countries out with Europe. The majority of middle class liberals wished to instate an elected government with freedom of speech and press. It was clear that these aims could be achieved through a unified Germany, therefore identifying the liberals with the nationalist cause. In the 1840 s military manoeuvres and political decisions made by the French which seemed threatening to the Germans provoked strong reactions from many of the Germans leading to a growth in nationalism and the creation of nationalistic songs, sung by the German troops such as, The watch on the Rhine . The revolutions, which took place in France, Italy and the Austrian Empire along with the fall of prince Metternicht, encouraged the German nationalists who longed for a unified Germany. The middle classes also pressed for political reform. Revolts in Prussia caused the king to create a Prussian national assembly, which in the end failed due to lack of strong leadership and right wing oppositions to the collapse of the assembly. • 3. The Role Of Liberal Values At The International Level 4. By using its influence to diminish the role of liberal values at the international level As China is becoming a global power today, China s views on liberal values are gaining a greater share in the global marketplace of ideas negatively affects America s national interests, since its growing power and the example of its development could have considerable ideological influence upon other countries. China s economic rising power has deflected international criticism of its records of democratization and human rights. Human rights issues have indeed been given less importance during high level official visits. Today, the U.S. president seldom directly demands the release of Chinese political and religious dissidents. Under such circumstance, the United States and China are competing directly for impact upon shaping the international rules and norms. China has been highly supporting recent initiatives such as the G20, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the New Development Bank of the BRICS countries, and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, in which Western governments play a significantly smaller role than in longer existing institutions, such as WTO, NATO, etc. In addition to that, as I have argued before, although China does not fight against liberal democracy with a counter ideology, it does approach the potential norm of promoting liberal democratic values with the norm of international diversity. The concept of international diversity is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Eyewitness To History Day My experience on eyewitness to history day was very fun. I was a guide to Barry Sweeney, who was in the 24th division of helicopter pilots; he also participated in the desert sheild/storm operations. In the beginning of the day I sat down with him and we talked for a bit while we waited for the opening ceremony. He showed us a lot of things he used to help him pilot s helicopter. One story we were told was that he was driving a military jeep type vehicle, and there were Iraqis walking by. So he said How are you? and the Iraqi responded How you do? So he asked them What the f*** are you doing? (He actually didn t curse in the story) So the Iraqi said Busch said drop weapons, take off shoes, go home. f*** Suddain, we go home. He told us other stories like how somebody set up a latrine next to the spot where he was supposed to land his helicopter, and so the person in there; so the person came out of the latrine covered in Doody . There was another time where one person had made a model of the battle field to present to the general, to show what he thought should be the next course of action for the military; complete with sand hills, and detailed little figures. When Mr. Sweeney flew the general into the camp, he was landing, the downdraft from the helicopter was blowing away the sand and the figures, so the person who made it was laying on top of the model, desperately trying to stop the sand from blowing away. The subject matter alone makes it a movie worth watching, but this passion project brought to life the legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg transcends being just a work of art. Schindler s List is a true masterpiece. So many movies are just fluff pictures, but Steven Spielberg made this movie into a masterpiece of cinema. There is a beautifully framed set of over the shoulder shots when Amon Goeth is having a conversation with Oskar Schindler when they first meet. It switched from a mid over the shoulder shot looking at Amon, who is placed on the left, to a similarly framed shot of Oskar on the right. Showing the hero/villain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Steven Spielberg s attempt to show the spontaneity of the events, during scenes like the liquidation of the ghetto, he would grab a hand held camera and walk around the actors. He was trying to give the viewer a sense of what it would be like to actually be in those situations, and make the camera as unobtrusive as possible. When Itzhak Stern leaves his apartment to the street Spielberg uses the hand held camera to represent the chaos of the moment. The germans are screaming at him, the streets are packed with people, and they are shooting families. There is a fantastic panning shot of the Jews and the Germans listening to the radio announcing the end of the war. The camera pans to the left showing the faces of the Jews as they realize the war is really over. Then they show the germans faces as they realize they lost the war. It shows the similarities, and the differences very well of the two situations. A beautiful dolly shot is right at the end of the movie when oskar is fleeing, and the camera is pointed at Schindler behind the window of the his car. You see his face, but reflected in the glass are the faces of the Jews he saved, as the camera moves with the car. The Marquis and his wife in The Bloody Chamber suffer from distorted perceptions, and this is smphasized in the repeated use of mirrors. Around their marital bed, there were mirrors on all the walls, in stately frames of contorted gold (14). Everything that happens in that room is amplified and multiplied, and reflected in the description of contorted gold is the idea of the distortions an image bears when it is mirrored. Their multitude forces his bride to watch as a dozen husbands approach [her] in a dozen mirrors (15). Her actual husband is lost among all the imposters and again, she is forced to see him refracted through the glass. In the same way that her perceptions of her husband are altered, she feels distorted. She states that I seemed reborn in his unreflective eyes, reborn in unfamiliar shapes, which highlights how mediation has corrupted the relationship (20). Within the same story and in direct contrast, the piano tuner Jean Yves is an example of the power of undistorted perceptions. Though he is blind, he does not suffer from the same misinterpretations. While it is ironic that the blind man sees the clearest, it proves that the lack of mediation does not refer only to sight. A snapshot of the classic yet desired white family of the 1950 s: a pale skinned man with a pressed tie and shiny dress shoes, enjoys the pancakes and eggs his slender and sweet wife had prepared for him before work. The gentle figure leans to kiss her children who hustle to catch the school bus, a full lunch box in each hand and new toys for show and tell. However, this depiction of the traditional american family has been greatly modified. In her family history course, Stephanie Coontz asked her students to illustrate their own concept of a traditional or perfect family. Unsurprisingly, the predominating result was the stereotypical nuclear family, consisting of only father, mother, and children. This had once been culturally correct, but beginning in the mid 1900 s, the ideal American family has changed immensely with social development. Although the traditional family still exists in several households across the nation, the majority of families are far from the initial standards. A monumental change to the traditional American family came in 2015 when same sex marriage was legalized. This momentous step to ensure the acceptance and rights of ranging sexualities had not only enhanced the quality of life for same sex couples, but also transformed the iconic household. Adaptation is elevated in status when the authors refer to the works done by naturalists; the word choices of these experimenters place natural selection as the perfect culmination of traits. Whereas as Gould and Lewontin s beliefs do not strictly follow one model for nature; rather it incorporates all possibilities. Gould and Lewontin also use quotations to further explain the pluralistic perspective of the evolutionary theory. They refer to the paleontology article[, which] ends with a long quotation from Count (1947) (Myers, 269). The goal that Gould and Lewontin go for referring to this event is having a reader decide whether to take it as a prescient forerunner of Gould s opinion or as a dated belief now superseded (Myers, 269). That is to say whether following pluralism is the opinion of Gould or something necessary for science to advance and move forward. Gould and Lewontin use the example of fingerprints at the end of their essay to get the readers to really consider the impacts that adaptation has had; Then I spoke of the failure to discover the origin of these patterns, and how the fingers of unborn children had been dissected to ascertain their earliest stages, and so forth. ... • 35. History of the Eucharist History of the Eucharist The Sacrament of Eucharist is the most frequently received Sacraments in the Catholic Church. The matter in the Sacrament of Eucharist is the bread and wine, which changes into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The Sacrament of Eucharist is dated in the Bible as far back to the Old Testament, indirectly as the Israelites flee from Egypt in the desert, and God gives them manna to eat. This happens multiple times while the Israelites are searching for the Promised Land. The most important part of the Bible when the Eucharist is received, is when Jesus and the Apostles are at the Last Supper. Through the Sacrament of Eucharist, Jesus breaks the bread and passes it around to his apostles. Then, Jesus says that one of them will betray him, and whoever dips the bread in the wine at the same time he does will be the one who will betray him. As we know Judas was the one who betrayed him, and must have been the one to dip the bread in the wine at the same time as Jesus. Even though all the Gospel writers wrote about Jesus Matthew, Mark, and Luke wrote about the meal Jesus had with his Apostles the night before his death, not John. Between the Resurrection of Jesus, and the conversion of the Emperor Constantine to Christianity. During this period of time in the Roman Empire, people who were Christians, were persecuted in public, just because of their beliefs. Christians had made a modification to having to receive the ... • 36. The Importance Of Student Success Scientist have research that about 90% of the people don t achieve their goals because of the challenges encountered. Many of our students here in the city of Anaheim are faced with challenges everyday and sometimes don t know how to deal with them. My argument is that student success is founded upon giving full effort from students rather than by achieving good grades. In the research story of the secret to raising smart kids by Carol Dweck is a research based paper on the achievements of students. The mastery oriented children, on the other hand, think intelligence is malleable and can be developed through education and hard work. They want to learn above all else. After all if you believe it that you can expand your intellectual skills, you want to do just that, because slipups stem from a lack of effort, not ability, they can be remedied by more effort (27).The student intellectual intelligence can grow by studying. They believe that intelligence is malleable. It can be changed or shaped by the hard work and what things we change. If school in Anaheim cared about their education we would be talking about different topics. Since we would be putting so much effort to our changes of habit to better understanding in school we would be satisfied with our results. Many of us would try again and again if it is possible to get a better result. Putting effort can take time but at the end it is worth it. Many of our students believe a challenge changes their intelligence view. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. What Is Snowboarding Persuasive Essay Hunter S. Thompson once said, Anything that gets your blood racing is probably worth doing. Throughout life you are probably going to change hobbies and try new things, but your passion is something that you enjoy doing for the rest of your life. My passion is snowboarding. It has helped me face my fears as a shy and unconfident girl. I believe that I will always be able to turn to snowboarding during anytime throughout my life. The cool winter air stung my face as I exited through the ski lodge door. Board in hand, I stepped onto the powdery snow. After each step I took all I heard was crunches and crackles from the snow compacting underneath my weight. I nervously made my way over to the top of the bunny hill where a tall, beat up looking man named Dave stood. He looked as if the cold weather had made him age quicker than the rest. The earnest look on his face caused me to shudder in fear. His eyes pierced through my soul as if warning me not to go through with this. I took a deep breath as I realized how ... I have learned that as long as you believe you can do it, you are able to achieve it. Within no time I started to believe in myself. I am so glad I stuck it out, and continued snowboarding. Snowboarding is an activity I look forward to every year. It is hard getting along through the spring, summer, and fall without it. My best friend and I share this hobby. There is nothing like flying down a run at Sundown with a new board and your best friend. I have gained so much even just from the first lesson. Today, I may not be a professional or courageous enough to do tricks, but if I keep trying eventually I ll be like Jamie Anderson in the terrain park. I honestly believe that even as an old lady I will always want to be spending my extra time on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Christianity and Life After Death Essay Christianity and Life After Death Life after death is an essential part of the Christian religion. Jesus, the son of god, died on the cross and three days later he rose again from the dead, the resurrection. Hundreds of people saw him. This has given Christians the hope that when they die, they will live on in another place. Christians believe in heaven and hell. If a person lives a good moral life they can expect to get to heaven, when they die. If they live an immoral life then perhaps hell will be an alternative. Luke 23:42 Then he said, Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom. Jesus replied, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise. Jesus was crucified ... However, Christians still believe that they will be resurrected. This is faith, belief in something that cannot be seen. In Anglican, orthodox and Roman Catholic traditions smearing the sick are a ceremonial action which can be requested for very ill people. When it is performed on a dying person it is often referred to as the last rites . It involves rubbing oil on the person s forehead and in the Roman Catholic tradition, the feet and the hands too. It symbolizes the healing of the mind and the strengthening of spirit and is accompanied by special prayers. At the death candles are often placed near the coffin as a symbol for the future life and a reminder of the light of Christ who is the means of redemption. In Roman Catholic and orthodox services incense, with its smoke rising upwards as a symbol of prayer, is sprinkled over the coffin After death the place of burial is marked with a stone, often in the shape of a cross as a reminder of Jesus death and resurrection.
