naturally everyone is looking to take whatever
advantage they can.

• A kind of computer terminal which must rely heavily on its
  server for intranet/internet access to complete its task.
   – This includes access to customer records such as bills, payment
     histories, contact information, and salesman preferences in addition to
     inventory information such as tracking numbers.


• Each terminal acts as a guarded gateway: only an employee
  with a password can access the information, and only as much
  as he/she is authorized.

So basically a
thin client is a
  computer
   terminal
 without the
  computer.

How does it help the front-line
                 manager?
• The sales department is in charge of keying in
  sales through sku numbers that are stored in the
  information system that is used corporately.
   – This allows the manager to keep track of
      where items are or should be.
• The sales department are also responsible for
  inputting their actions; with clients, out to
  lunch, etc.
   – The manager needs to know where his
      people are.
• The office is in charge of taking payment for
  sales, answering customer calls, and keeping
  record of different pieces of information.
   – The manager must be able to access this
      information for potential
      sales, collections, inventory updates, and
      general housekeeping.

In today’s economy, no one is immune to the constant pruning of budget cuts and naturally everyone is looking to take whatever advantage they can. What technologies can help ease the burden as a manager tries to maintain a competitive edge?

How does it help the front-line manager? • The sales department is in charge of keying in sales through sku numbers that are stored in the information system that is used corporately. – This allows the manager to keep track of where items are or should be. • The sales department are also responsible for inputting their actions; with clients, out to lunch, etc. – The manager needs to know where his people are. • The office is in charge of taking payment for sales, answering customer calls, and keeping record of different pieces of information. – The manager must be able to access this information for potential sales, collections, inventory updates, and general housekeeping.
