The History of Iwo Jima Essay
Introduction The island of Iwo Jima is just one of the many islands in the pacific that make up the
island chain of Ogasawara. The Ogasawara chain of islands are located approximately 750 miles south
of Tokyo. In comparison to most of the other islands in the pacific Iwo Jima is relatively small, in fact
it is only four and a half miles long by two and a half miles wide. The geographic layout of Iwo Jima
consists of a dormant volcano on the northern side called Mount Suribachi and a flat stretch of land to
the south. So why is such a small island so important? After the surprise attack by the Japanese on
Pearl Harbor America needed a place to stage aircraft for conducting bombing runs on Tokyo, Iwo
Jima provided the best place to host ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though he had some buildings built to satisfy his command his primary focus was on the
construction of an elaborate system of tunnels underground that connected every part of the island.
The General learned that if he mixed the natural volcanic ash on the island with concrete it mad an
almost indestructible barrier. All together General Kuribayashi built over eleven miles of tunnels
which housed a number of rooms to accommodate all of his needs. On the south side of the island he
constructed an airfield for the Japanese fighter planes to use. When America did attack all of the
buildings were destroyed just as General Kuribayashi predicted. Deployment The American invasion
of Iwo Jima began on February 19, 1945 and continued till March 26, 1945, a battle that only lasted
36 days, yet had some of the most ferocious fighting and casualties ever seen. Execution/Action In an
effort to weaken the Japanese defenses located on Iwo Jima America began a bombing raid that started
on December 8th, 1944 and lasted for 70 days, there were over 5800 tons of bombs dropped on the
island. Three days before the Marines invasion the Navy provided a three day bombardment with
naval guns from over four hundred and fifty ships that were massed just off the island; they also
launched an additional one hundred airplanes that continued to bomb the island until the Marines
assaulted the island on foot. Unfortunately at the time military intelligence

The Impact Of Fiscal And Monetary Policy On Business...
Introduction
The environment is defined as the sum total of all surroundings of a living organism, including natural
forces and other living things, which provide conditions for development and growth as well as of
danger and damage.(Business dictionary,2014) This means that every business always meets dangers
and damage in a different environment, especially, in an unstable environment. For example,
Malaysian Airlines have endured financial problems by an aircraft crash, which result in Malaysian
Airplane losing 10 million dollars for paying compensation to victim families. This incident
demonstrates the environment has always changed , sometimes it could be a good opportunities to
develop the businesses or great disasters to damage it. This essay will discusses the changing factors
of business environments in detail , following by the sections:how economic systems attempt to
allocate resources effectively, the impact of fiscal and monetary policy on business organisations and
their activities, the impact of fiscal and monetary policy on business organisations and their activities.
2.1 Explain how economic systems attempt to allocate resources effectively
The principles of economy indicates the essential of economic problems:
Economic is the study of how society manages its scare resources. In most society, resource are
allocated not by a single central planner but through the combined actions of millions of households
and firms.(Mankiw,1998:4). However,who

The health issue of using technology whist driving is increasing at a rapid speed. Even though this is a
major health issue, there are very few campaigns in Australia that promote and prevent the usage of

Color Coding Things In The Classroom
Imagine that you re sitting around the kitchen table with your family. Raymond is just starting to learn
his colors, but nothing seems to be working to make them stick. You pull out the collection of paints,
markers and crayons and Raymond starts to color, naming each one as he picks it up out of the boxes

gone above and beyond and learned colors like silver and gold. If you re like to have things looking

Augmented Reality Essay
The Innovation of Augmented Reality
INTRODUCTION
In recent years, as the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering developed rapidly, many new
technologies and inventions emerged gradually. Among these new technologies, Augmented Reality
(AR) has become a popular technique that is considered to have a large potential for the future. This
paper will indicate the definition of AR and give a brief introduction of its developing history. It will
mainly focus on introducing some different applications of AR technology and give some instances
that these applications of AR have achieved currently. Finally, there will be an evaluation of the
benefits and contributions of AR, which include a discussion of how this technique influenced the
field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and society.
A standard definition of AR is given by Azuma (1997) that Augmented Reality (AR) is a variation of
Virtual Reality (VR). This new technology is about augmenting the real world environment with
virtual information to create a mixed reality live view. According to Azuma, there are three common
characteristics of AR: the combination of real world environment and virtual information, interactive
in a real time and the scenes in 3D environment. The first characteristic states that AR allows the user
to see the real world environment combined with the virtual objects. The second characteristic
describes that during the use of AR, all the view and scenes are happening in a real time, so

Electronic Commerce
Electronic Wallets are Secure
Introduction
The idea for paying for goods and services electronically is not a new one. The search for more
efficient ways of doing business is now driving another revolution in the conduct of business and in
our concept of money. This revolution is known as electronic commerce, which is the symbiotic
integration of communications, data management, and security capabilities to allow business
applications within different organizations to automatically exchange information related to the sale of
goods and services. With the advent of the electronic age the concept of value was transferred to
plastic cards with a magnetic stripe which securely carried personal account information. These cards
are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the number of people utilizing the internet increases, the risk of security violations increases with
it. It is true that sometimes the cost of protecting the network outweighs the cost of just leaving it
unprotected, but it is undeniable that the cost of protecting the network becomes nontrivial as more
services such as electronic wallets become available. Some of the threats that stimulated the upsurge
for people with the lack of security were compromise of clients financial details (credit card numbers,
etc) which may result in the unauthorized transfer of funds, development of a method of obtaining the
goods or services without making the appropriate payment and other methods permitting the
unauthorized transfer of funds. Regardless of how a payments system is constructed these attacks are
always more or less practical although some techniques can virtually eliminate the risk of one or
another.
The major reason electronic wallets has not yet taken off to its full potential is because, until recently,
there has not been a readily available, widely deployed foolproof way of preventing fraud and theft of
sensitive financial information.
Implementing security involves assessing the possible threats to one s network, servers and
information. The goal would be to then attempt to minimize the threat as much as possible without
making it difficult for legitimate users to access the information.

The Pros And Cons Of Breach Of Warranty
Everyday billions of consumers purchase products across the entire world. As natural consumers, this
is a way to buy things that are seen as beneficial for whatever the reason may be. This could include
benefitting one s health or well being or simply meeting personals wants and needs. In the United
States, buying and selling products is so common that many underlying factors of what goes into the
process go unnoticed, up until something goes wrong. As a consumer, you naturally expect that what
you are buying is 100% safe, secure, and authentic because most of the time this is the case. However,
for the times when something does go wrong, it is important to know the legalities of product liability
as both a producer and a consumer. Product liability is the legal liability manufacturers and sellers
have for defective products that cause injury to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term also covers a failure of a statement or agreement by a seller of property which is a part of the
contract of sale, when the truth of the statement is necessary to the validity of the contract (USLegal,
2007). Breach of warranty claims come in two forms an express warranty or implied warranty. An
express warranty is one that is explicitly stated from the manufacturer or seller to the consumer. Most
express warranties are made in written statements, warning stickers, informational tags, etc. Although,
an advertisement or a product sample that demonstrates how the product is properly used may also be
used to make an express warranty claim (Rottenstein Law Group, 2010). Contrary to this, an implied
warranty is not explicitly stated. Instead, an implied warranty is based on the reasonable expectations
of the buyer. For example, when a shopper buys a lamp, they expect it to light up the room without the
lightbulb getting so hot that it starts a fire. This would be a reasonable expectation of the

General Zaroff s Philosophy In Most Dangerous Game By...
General Zaroff s philosophy is one that everyone has lived by ever since the beginning of life and
shows that he is a true expert in the field of hunting. In the short story, Most Dangerous Game, by
Richard Connell, General Zaroff states that, Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if
need be, taken by the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure (pg.
225). This statement that Zaroff spoke when he was with Rainsford can summarize many aspects of
the world around us. This type of philosophy can be dated back to prehistoric times such as when life
first evolved. Even in the short story, there are many times where this comes to light as a well
represented theme throughout the development of the plot. As you can see in the next paragraphs,
there are many ways that the story represents this philosophy that are can be seen as you read the
story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History is filled with civilizations conquering and being conquered by others which represents General
Zaroff s philosophical statement. However, in the short story, Most Dangerous Game, there are also
many examples of this idea. First of all, when Rainsford is speaking with Whitney over how animals
have feelings and what hunters do, he utters this, Be a realist. The world is made up of two classesー
the hunters and the huntees. Lucky, you and I are the hunters (pg 216). As you can see from this
statement, it shows that the cycle of life and death is controlled by the hunters that are stronger that
prey on the weak. If you are a strong, then you are a hunter that can overcome the weak and rise
higher until you reach the top of the food chain. This coincides with Zaroff s philosophy, because it
shows that the strong are the ones who live and take the lives of the weaker

The Mission of the Army Logistics Management College (ALMC), now referred to as the Army

This is due to various organizational shifts, as the design of the courses change every time a new
General takes command at Fort Lee and decisions based on lackluster after action reviews (AAR). The
POI for the SPCC does not reflect the change in scheduled location and needs to be updated, therefore,
a broad spectrum POI should be created and recommendations should be made in order to gain more
positive AARs. Project Description In support of my capstone project, I assessed and will submit a
redesigned proposal with developmental recommendations for reformation of a solid POI for the
SPCC that takes place at the Army Logistics University. In this, I have identified the foremost purpose
for this redesign as the following: The investment in the education and training of rising leadership is
vital to the long term success of our sustainment support staff and the services provided. With this
course providing training in modular force operations for newly selected command designees that
enables them to function effectively throughout their command tour it is very important to make sure
that the training is substantive. Therefore the main focus is to assure that training is current and
emerging sustainment doctrine and leadership topics for commanders on the National Guard,
Reservist and Active Duty levels is most essential. The target audience of this redesign includes
commissioned officers in grades 0 5 (Lieutenant Colonel) or 0 6

The Military s Impact On Feudalism
Everyone who followed along with the feudal system, had to give and get things in return including
Knights. It was a lord s job to get a great military for a king; they would be willing to do anything for
the best soldiers by their side. Knights gave protection in exchange for service to the kingdom
(Norman 102). Kings wanted a skilled professional warriors, that they would be able to pay well
(Langley 28). Knights even had a personal servant look after weapons and horses they helped with
armor and provided help when they got hurt (Brooks 14). Everyone in the military would be expected

with them to get a good experience on what it s like to be a knight. They would watch the things
knights had to do and learn from them (Alchin). They were not able to use real weapons because of
their young age so they would instead practice their skills with wooden horses, swords etc (Alchin).
Because they were kids and could not practice on real horses they would practice fighting by giving
piggyback rides (Alchin). Pages had to use physical skills like climbing swimming throwing archery
and wrestling (Alchin). When they were young the boys would start with practicing on ponies and as
they grew were expected to care for the horses (Alchin). As they grew up, they were expected to
actually ride a horse, and eventually end up owning several war horses. War horses were large and
strong which was very helpful during battle (Alchin). As they got older to become a knight grew they
had to do more dangerous things to feel what it is like to be a knight. At age 14 21 young knights were

My Personality And Learning Abilities
Learning the Style
Exploring more in depth about my personality and learning abilities was honestly quite surprising. It s
probably based on the fact that we generalized somewhat false ideas about who we are or how we
think we function. Trying to get a better insight about myself, I took several interpersonal surveys
along with questionnaires that had many evolutional properties. Some I found too close to spot on,
others not so much, and I am not really sure how I feel about the outcome.
The first thing to be uncovered was that I am considered more of an auditory learner over the other
types listed. Auditory learner, you probably hum or talk to yourself or others if you become bored.
People may think you are not paying attention, even though you may be hearing and understanding
everything being said. You store information by the way it sounds, and you have an easier time
understanding spoken instructions than written ones ( What s Your Learning Style?). I find this to be
very true for myself because written instructions can often be miss interpreted.
When I was younger in school they always thought I had a reading disability, so for years they had me
go to special educational class once a day during the school week. I found myself to be enraged with
everyone involved. I know that I am extremely able to do what they were asking of me but had no way
to express myself about the matter. While suffering with frustration they did a special education

Essay on Minamata Patients’ Life and Minamata Compensation
Minamata disease was discovered on May 1st 1956. There were 12,617 people who were recognized
as patients. However, these numbers were only patients with the certificate. People had to apply for
the certificate certifying that they got impacts from Minatama and got the disease. However, it was not
easy to get the certificate as many people had to apply many times to get the Certification. Another
issue was related to the discrimination to the Minamata patients should handle. People would
disparage people with the Certification. Hence, the Minamata patients chose to hide their status, even
from their families and relatives.

experiences, they hope that people will understand Minamata deeply. In 27th October 2013, the
Emperor of Japan, Akihito, together with his wife gave a visit to the Minamata Disease Municipal
Museum. They got a chance to talk with Kataribe and heard stories from them. The Emperor, Akihito,
hopes that people will end discrimination to the victims.
Comments
Minamata disease is a very bad disease as it gives bad impacts to the human bodies. People barely can
walk, hands become crippled, etc. The Minamata patients also have to spend their life going to
hospitals as no cure for this disease. Furthermore, the application to get the Certification is too
difficult. The government should make it easier as the patients already suffered from the disease. The
Japan State also needs to conduct the comprehensive health survey. The survey is quite important. No
official survey was conducted until now. People still don t know how widely harm extended and how
many people were affected. However, I would like to say that Japan was quite successful in handling
this situation in terms of the compensation. Both Chisso

Gq Magazine Stereotypes
When reading magazines, a consumer will come across multiple products that are targeted for both

topics that are currently trending in society at the time. GQ targets mainly men and is filled with the
style of men and products they might be into which could relate to fashion, hygiene, food, or
technology. Women could look in the GQ magazine and men could take a look in the Vogue magazine,
not necessarily for themselves but maybe they are interested in purchasing a product that a person
opposite of their gender would want. Both these magazines advertise high end products and use thin or

looking at both the Vogue and GQ magazine, it is noticeable that the stereotype is leaving the minds of
many people. The fact that were more advertisements on food in the GQ magazine than the Vogue
magazine proves that society has been improving. The Vogue magazine features Gigi Hadid and her
boyfriend Zayn Malik. They go through each other s closets. Hadid has clothing items that Malik
would be interested in wearing. Malik has clothing items that Hadid would want to wear. Clothing has
become much more universal now, to the point that couples can chop each other s closets. Both
magazines feature many of the same brands like Gucci. Gucci is a high end brand with clothing for
both men and women. There were not only Forever 21 advertisements for women and Abercrombie

Gentrification and White Preference in the Rhode Island...
The loss of public housing and the expanse of the wealth gap throughout the state of Rhode Island has
been a rising issue between the critics and supporters of gentrification, in both urban areas such as
Providence and wealthy areas such as the island of Newport, among other examples. With the cities
under a monopoly headed by the wealth of each neighborhood, one is left to wonder how such a
system is fair to all groups. Relatively speaking, it isn t, and the only ones who benefit from such a
system are white skinned. With the deterioration of the economic status of Rhode Island, and

original residents through increasing prices. Cities such as New York, Boston, and San Francisco all
have neighborhoods that originally had mostly poor, uneducated African Americans, and now are

Charlestown, Jamaica Plains, and Beacon Hill have all experienced intense characteristics of
gentrification from the 1970s up until the present, showcasing an increase in the population with at
least a bachelor s degree, as well as a large increase in new and renovated buildings. In New York, the
most famous example of gentrification is in Harlem, has undergone a process of gentrification after
becoming known as the national, and even international symbol for black culture with a vibrancy that
is not seen in the suburbs. Finally, in San Francisco, in the bay area, there has been a massive influx of
affluent companies that have completely devastated the middle class due to a high rise in wealthy,

The Importance Of Parental Involvement In Education
Parental Involvement in regards to education is huge. Parents are the people advocating for the
children. It is important for teachers to have a good relationship with parents in order to make the best
decisions for the child. Teachers and parents can come together to make these decisions. In regards to
special education, the parental involvement MUST be there. Parents need to make sure their child is in
the right seating, receive all their services and receiving the assistive technology device that is right
for their child. Parents know their child more than anyone on this earth. Teachers do know students
pretty well but they don t see what the child is like at home or sometimes get to see the student s true
personality. Teachers can effectively choose assistive technology for students but, what works for one
student may not work for all. This is where the parental involvement needs to kick in. For example: a
student may suffer from speech difficulties and can communicate a little with sign language. The
teacher can say switch to a communication board with the parent might say my child doesn t make
decisions well and therefore communication boards might not be effective . The parent truly knows
their child and can assist the teacher will deciding what assistive technology device the child needs. In

The importance of the keel is to help the planes fly smoother and straighter because of the design of it.
The planes that it would work the best in are darts, because darts lay long distances and to do this they

Identify and discuss various representations of woman in Wuthering Heights
The depictions of women in Wuthering Heights reveal that despair and happiness are direct outcomes
of one s decision to either be submissive to or oppose patriarchal constructs respectively. Catherine
and Cathy II are portrayed as examples of both how giving power to patriarchal demands leads to
misery and pain in contrast to how resisting patriarchal demands will lead to hope and joy. Firstly, the
underlying theme of freedom illuminates how the women are influenced to make such critical
decisions regarding their respective futures. Secondly, the concept of upbringing illustrates how

Catherine views freedom as something unsafe and untameable and following patriarchy as safe and
more suitable despite it also constraining her natural ambitions (Garofalo, 2008: 831). Her choice
reflects the idea that freedom is undesirable as it dangerously goes beyond social norms and putts her
at odds with society (Hanlon, 1996: 506). Giving power to patriarchal demands results in negative
outcomes for Catherine s character continued conflict with other characters, depression, sickness, in
the end, untimely death. Cathy II, who in her childhood had the idea of freedom kept away from her,

Therapeutic Misconception
Clinical trials are essential for medical progress. Although new treatments are discovered through
trials, participating in research is different from receiving treatment. Yet, some human subjects fail to
comprehend the purpose of phase 1 clinical trials and believe that they will benefit from participating
in the study. This failure to recognize potential harms is called therapeutic misconception (TM). To
reduce TM, focusing on communication is crucial. Understanding the perception that subjects within
these trials have, can inform whether or not researchers should change how they communicate with
subjects. This essay will illuminate three possible ways to mitigate the risks associated with TM and

This statement does not suggest that IRB s are not doing their jobs. Rather, it suggests that the
function of IRB s is to review, approve and at times have investigators rephrase/edit documents such
as the document of informed consent that will be given to subjects. IRB s should also focus on the
selection of subjects to make sure the appropriate subjects participate in the clinical trial. If the
document of informed consent or any other documents fail to meet requirements, the IRB should not
approve the study until changes are made. This includes failure to adequately describe certain
information such as the purpose of the research. While these are three possible ways to reduce TM, it
is also important to address whose responsibility it is to mitigate TM. I think that this responsibility
falls on both an institution s IRB and the principle investigator (PI) of the research study. I imply that
it is both the IRB s and PI s responsibility because the IRB approves the study while the PI is the lead
researcher who oversees the clinical

William Walton s Influence On The Music Of A Musical...
William Walton (March 29, 1902 March 8, 1983) never had any students, and due to his highly
perfectionist and obsessive nature, he left behind a relatively small body of work. Furthermore, his
composition style changed very little over the course of his career, remaining, at times, rhythmically
quirky, but for the most part, lyrically Romantic a style that was considered very old fashioned in a
musical scene dominated by the more avant garde Benjamin Britten. Particularly after World War II,
twentieth century audiences weren t interested in the music of the past of an age that hadn t yet
experienced the depth of devastation and loss that they had.
In spite of his lack of widespread popularity, Walton was not unsuccessful, as a number of his works
have entered the canon of commonly performed classical music. For example, his Viola Concerto,
written in 1929, in spite of being rejected by its intended recipient, was taken under the wing of and
premiered by composer and violist Paul Hindemith to rousing and lasting success. That piece, in
Walton s preferred Romantic style, harkens back to influences of Edward Elgar (1857 1934),
particularly his Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (1919). Today, the Walton Viola Concerto is a
staple, if not THE staple, of the viola repertoire.
Additionally, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, Walton was commissioned to write the
coronation march, Orb and Sceptre, and a choral setting of Te Deum for the event. The Te Deum

How The Internet Has Become A Major Vehicle For Social...
Introduction
The Internet has become a major vehicle for social encounters in the last two decades. Through the
Internet, people can interact over greater distances in a shorter period and at less expense than in the
past. Since the evolution of the Internet, there is less face to face interaction and more communication
via text messages, emails, and online chatting. This social stigma is up for much debate on how it
relates to the progression in romantic relationships. This literature review focuses on how the Internet
is utilized as a supportive method of courting used by individuals to meet online in hopes of forming a
romantic relationship.
Counterarguments suggest that online communication expands social interaction because it connects
you to a plethora of people at a fast rate. The research of Cooper and Sportolari (1997) was
significantly useful because according to experts, the use of the Internet in romantic relationships
lowers the pressure of physical attributes, more freedom to meet someone new regardless of gender,
and allows you to develop healthy relationships with a variety of people.
Merge of the Internet and Online Dating
Online dating, or communicating with individuals via the Internet with the purpose of finding
romantic partners, constitutes a new realm in which searching for romantic partners via Internet dating
sites has become a common strategy for mate selection and thus has changed the dating process.

Csikszentmihalyi s Happiness Revisited
Authored by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Happiness Revisited is a study on happiness and creativity.
Csikszentmihalyi defines happiness in terms of how we achieve it. He suggests that people achieve
happiness not by trying to look for it directly (609) but by looking for it directly. He also added that by
achieving control over the contents of our consciousness (609), a circuitous path begins, thus the
beginning of achieving happiness. Further, Csikszentmihalyi stated that just like happiness, success is
not to be pursued but ensued. This statement is ideally illustrated by Viktor Frankl s book on Man s
Search for meaning: Don t aim at success the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are
going to miss it (609). As quoted by Csikszentmihalyi that people often end up feeling that their lives
have been wasted, and instead of being filled with happiness their years were spent in anxiety and
boredom (608). He added that despite the comfort of today s modern living; the contentment does not

Othello is essentially an noble character, flawed by insecurity and a nature that is naive and

character, Othello is revered as the tragic hero. He is a character of high stature that is destroyed by his
surroundings, his own actions, and his fate. His destruction is essentially precipitated by his own
actions, as well as by the actions of the characters surrounding him. The tragedy of Othello is not a
fault of a single villain, but is rather a consequence of a wide range of feelings, judgments and
misjudgments, and attempts for personal justification exhibited by all of the participants. Othello is

These instances heighten his nobility as a character. He is in great demand by the duke and senate due
to his honorable qualities. This is evidenced by Cassio s comment that the senate sent about three
several quests to look for Othello (I.ii.46). Othello is a noble man who is well known and respected for
his position as a general. He is experienced in battle and shows great courage and demonstrates high
levels of dignity. Othello shows immense respect for his fellow man, we see this in his initial
relationships with Casio an Iago. Othello s valiant personality is a major part of his success in the
military as well as with his marriage, to Desdemona. Because of his exotic qualities, he is able to woo
his wife in an art of story telling, reflecting his nobility and honor. Such a storey seduces Desdemona,
causing a strong bind to Othello made from a mixture of love and lust. The Venetian government trusts
Othello enough to put him in full martial and political command of Cyprus; indeed, in his dying
speech, Othello reminds the Venetians of the service he has done their state (V.ii.348). However noble
or revered by his peers Othello may be, it is his honor, aided by his naivety and insecurity that lead to
his destruction.

During the long nineteenth century, political revolutions, industrialization, and European imperialism
resulted in dramatic changes in the role of women in Western Europe and Eastern Asia. As
industrialization spread in Western Europe, women were no longer able to fulfill their dual role as a
mother and a worker. After the introduction of industrialization, laborious tasks were moved from the
household to factories and women were forced to choose either the life of a mother or the life of a

As industrialization spread in Western Europe, the production of products and goods moved from the
household to factories which drastically changed family life. Married women were unable to work
unless they left their children and home in someone else s care. Moreover, middle class women
generally did not leave their homes in order to work. In contrast, the women of Eastern Asia rapidly
joined the work force after the introduction of industrialization and made up a gigantic portion of the
labor force. This difference is probably due to the fact that the rural women of Eastern Asia were
always laborers, and they make up the majority of the female population. Additionally, European
women generally preferred domestic labor to laborious tasks. Rural women were offered
independence by leaving their homes in order to perform domestic work; they generally sent their
earnings to their families or saved it for themselves. Moreover, the European women that participated
in the work force were forced to travel long distances and were separated from their families from
long hours. Additionally, their wages were significantly lower than that of their male counterparts.
Furthermore, women worked under poor conditions and were constantly susceptible to disease.
Similarly, the poor women of Eastern Asia sought employment in the cotton and silk industry.

Techniques used in Alfred Hitchcock s The Rear Window

Alfred Hitchcock was an amazing director and his films have lived on and are still thriving today due
to the techniques he used in his films and the way he created them. He was known for taking the least
probable scenarios and turning them into a masterpiece just by playing with light and form or angles.
Some of these films are Psycho, Perfect Crime, The Man Who Knew Too Much and Rear Window. At
first it was quite difficult to pinpoint a particular film to choose as he used brilliant techniques in all of
them. However, I have chosen to talk about Rear Window. This is because the fact that the whole film

At first the scene is comedic, that is until the man from across the courtyard leaves his house at 2 a.m.
We see Jeff s watch as the man comes in and out of his apartment 3 times. Each time, the audience
watch as Thorwald (the man) carries a large briefcase with him. Long shots and canning are used to
mimic Jeff s gaze as he follows thethorwald s progress. This makes the audience feel suspicious and
confused as to why someone would leave their apartment so many time in one night.
Too keep them a bit distracted, there are also individual scenes going in the other apartments so that
the audience don t have time to dwell on their suspicion. All is dark except for a couple of houses
which also gives the scene as sinister twist since at the start it was colorful but now it is dark and the
camera is not quite focused. Also, the cuts and fades in this scene are very unpredictable and
unsatisfying, because, as we are looking through Jeff s eyes, he constantly falls asleep which then
prevents us from seeing any more of what happens as the scene fades to darkness. The shots are also
unsatisfying because although they are mostly wide shots, we don t quite see every thing we want to
see.
The Next key scene I will be talking about is the climax when the murder is solved. It all starts with
the sudden death of a dog that was digging around in Mr.Thorwald s (the mad from across the
courtyard) flowers. This makes Jeff suspicious and suddenly he asks

This is always being posed in the light of the Dark Ages or Middle Ages, of which the name already
suggests the cloud of insignificance it is surrounded by according to many intellectuals. However,
before we can distinguish this superior Renaissance philosophy from earlier philosophy, it needs to be
established that medieval and Renaissance philosophy do relate to each other and are part of a
continuous process of increasing intellectual insights into the world and all its phenomena
(Copenhaver and Schmitt, 1992). Both medieval and Renaissance philosophy looked at heritage from
their ancestors, and it is not true that medieval philosophy completely disregarded the ancients
(Copenhaver and Schmitt, 1992). Rather, they treated the past differently, focusing on ancient
philosophy being a companion to theology and the word of God. There were various important
developments responsible for the different approach Renaissance philosophy took and its spread
throughout Europe, but the most important one can be said to be the introduction of the printing press
by Gutenberg in 1440 (Eisenstein, 1980). This development provided a rapid increase of availability
of texts to intellectuals and (Eisenstein, 1980). This technological development, along with the
rediscovery and recovery of ancient philosophical works in the late Middle Ages were responsible for
the rise of Renaissance philosophy and the renewed interest in classical writings which would later
become the basis of Renaissance philosophy (Stump, 1982; Copenhaver and Schmitt,

Paleolithic Vs Neolithic Research Paper
I would prefer living in the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era.
One main reason is that the Paleolithic men were much healthier than the Neolithic men in the ways
that, Paleolithic men were foragers and they moved their food which led them to not staying in one
spot permanently. This means that sickness and diseases were not easily passed on. Unlike the
Neolithic men who did have permanent settlements and had illness passed around quite easily. Also it
says in the passage Old Stone Age vs. New Stone Age that The adoption of grains in the Neolithic era
coincided with a shortening of stature, thinner bones and crooked, cavity ridden teeth. Since
Paleolithic Era did not domesticated grains they only ate wild grains they were taller, ... Show more

They created created language by using symbolic language (using symbols or sounds to communicate)
and collective learning (telling other people about your discoveries so they can use it and the
information does not die). Although the Neolithic man did create some very important discoveries too
(the wheel, calendars, time keeping etc.) they would not have able to make these discoveries without
language.
Another reason is that the Paleolithic people had a healthy balanced diet. The Paleolithic people had a
main diet of meat, fruits, vegetables, and wild grains. Whereto the Neolithic people had a main diet of
wheat, yams, corn, rice, and maze. As we ve seen in paragraph one grains make your bones thinner,
decrease your height, and make you have crooked teeth. Therefore the Paleolithic people had a better
balanced diet which allowed them to be healthier.
My fourth reason is that you are a farmer (Neolithic) and one year you have bad weather and your
crops don t grow. Now you have very little if any food. That doesn t just effect a couple of people
though. That effect your whole clan or colony which can be a lot of people. Whereto if your a forager

I. Introduction: The Historical Roots of Hospice
In the 8th century, B.C. the Homeric times, all Greeks without exception were regarded as being under
the protection of Zeus Xenios, the god of strangers and supplicants. A wanderer would be treated as a
guest and offered food, shelter, clothing, and gifts. Violation of the duties of hospitality were likely to

The medical regime, health care organizations and the public are aware of these end of life issues,
therefore must prioritize it s needs. The American Medical Association and the Institute of Medicine
foundation has devoted millions of dollars to public education on this issue through the Last Acts
initiative. (Forman and Kitzes, et al 2003).
This is one reason so many patients enter hospice only in the last days of life. A more reasonable
approach would be to have a patient begin Palliative/Hospice care while receiving curative care. The
Center for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) is about to embark on a project to evaluate whether
providing hospice services earlier in an illness along with curative care, improves quality of life for
patients while reducing Medicare spending.
If Palliative/Hospice care were to be provided soon after a terminal diagnosis, there would be more
hospice care would be more timely. About a third of hospice patients die within seven days of
admission to a Palliative/Hospice program. This short length of stay compromises the quality of care
that hospice offers.

Abstract For all neuropsychiatric disorders, there are key graphic images and biological markers, also
known as biomarkers, which can facilitate early diagnosis and the formulation of the most efficacious

impact it is having on the individual. In some cases of depression, there are clear signs that can help
clinicians understand the lasting effects on the person by identifying the condition s etiology, ruling

Together, these different elements will highlight the effects of depression and how they shape the way
someone sees the world around them. Outline Of Depression There are a number of different types of
depression, all of which interfere with people s day to day lives. Two of the more severe types are
major depression and persistent depressive disorder (Johnson Indvik, 2009). These types of depression
are generally characterized by feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, low mood, negative attitudes
about the self, joylessness, and increased sadness, with the former lasting a few days, weeks or months
while the latter persists for two years or more (Johnson Indvik, 2009). A subclinical biomarker is
determining the specific signs of depression and how they might affect an individual s behavior. The
most notable signs for depression include structural abnormalities in the hippocampus (Fu Costafreda,

connections between the precuneus seed region and rising left orbitofrontal cortex /paracingulate

Evolutionary Computing Based Approach For Unsupervised...
Abstract Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a stochastic randomized blind search and optimization technique
based on evolutionary computing that has already been proved to be robust and effective from its
outcome in solving problems from variety of application domains. Clustering is a vital technique to
extract meaningful and hidden information from the datasets. Clustering techniques have a broad field
of application including bioinformatics, image processing and data mining. In order to the find the
close association between the densities of data points, in the given dataset of pixels of an image,
clustering provides an easy analysis and proper validation. In this paper, we propose an evolutionary

variant of GA that segments an image into its constituent parts automatically. The aim of this
algorithm is to produce precise segmentation of images using intensity information along with their

A Play At The Mixed Blood Theatre By Branden Jacobs Jenkins
The play I went to go to see was called An Octoroon written by Branden Jacobs Jenkins. I have never
been to a play at the Mixed Blood Theatre, so I was very excited to go and see this play. This play has
been mentioned a lot lately by some of my theatre professors, and they said it would be very
interesting. They also mentioned to not worry about the bunny too much, but I did. I am very glad I
got to see this unique play with its many interesting views. The beginning of the play was very
interesting in several ways. Firstly, the choice of dialect took me surprise because of its vulgar nature.
I personally enjoyed the use of speech because I find it interesting when people use words freely when
they are normally looked down upon. The music that was played gave made another strong impression
on me. The title of the song was Bonfire by Childish Gambino, and it set a very interesting mood. It
definitely took me by surprise and I did not know how to react in that situation. I just stared with my
mouth open and tried to figure out why that song was being played. Another thing that I found
interesting was when the actors put makeup and different clothes on in front of us. Seeing the actors
start changing into new characters right in front of me made me very intrigued about how people can
break the socially constructed ideas of how theatre works.
The middle of the play made me confused for a good chunk of the time. The bunny was beyond
creepy and I tried to understand what its

Pirate Ship Research Paper
Types of Pirate Ships
By: Caleb J.
Carracks can carry 1,200 pounds and are one of the largest ships that pirates used. There are also other
kinds of ships that pirates use like Naval ships, Cargo ships, and Transportation ships.
First of all, Naval ships have lots of armor and cannons for protection, like an Ironclad with iron
frames for protection from cannons and other fire power from enemy ships. The Brig and Panstership
are both huge Naval ships. Also a fire ship was a ship filled with TNT that could be lighted and used
to destroy other ships. The Corvette was a lightly armed warship, also Cutters were fast warships. The
Sloop of War has 18 cannons. Another one, is the Penteconter was a 50 oar warship, also a Brigantine
was driven by oars.

Steve Jobs Uses Rhetorical Devices
Rhetorical devices craft emotional interest in an audience. Many of rhetorical devices and added
components can not be used without direct intent or even by mistake. In this written assignment, we
look at rhetorical devices employed by Steve Jobs in the iPhone Presentation (MacWorld 2007
Keynote). Jobs uses many rhetorical devices when he speaks. Rhetorical devices create certain
impressions at the audience, yet these impacts depend on the context. What follows is a brief
description of the structure of the applied figures with examples from the keynote. Jobs used many
rhetorical devices through the launch of the original iPhone. He used several Hyperboles when
describing the characteristic of the new phone. In doing so, he was drumming up

Piracy From The Corporate And Public Side
However, let s go past the obvious and look at the underlying aversion to digital piracy that people
have. We will look at arguments against piracy from the corporate and public side. The average
laymen and the CEO both hate digital piracy, but they do for different reasons.
The main argument against piracy from companies is: pirating makes them lose money. Companies
think that if someone finds a movie online for free, they won t turn around and buy it later. It really
comes down to the dollar bills. Arthur De Vany, of the University of California and David Walls, of
the University of Calgary conducted a study on the effects that piracy has on revenue. They concluded
that for the one movie they studied, piracy directly destroyed $40 million in box office revenue. (14).
Imagine that amount of money, and even more depending on the movie, coming about of the big hole
in company pockets called piracy. It s no wonder these companies are alarmed.
According to a study by Columbia University s American Assembly called Copy Culture, 45 percent
of Americans pirate media; and younger demographics pirate more (Mick 2). In response, some
companies have gotten creative and put their media through alternatives such as Spotify for music,
Netflix for movies and Steam for games. This makes media cheaper and more accessible, while still
giving the companies something to stuff their pockets with. However, others refuse to go through the
system and they still pirate entertainment. One

Essay about Arguement Against the Use of School Uniforms
School Uniforms Many kids at their school do not like their uniforms or rules on school clothes.50%
of students and parents on Debate.org say no to school uniforms. Uniforms ugh, this is by a TEN
YEAR OLD. Uniforms, you can be a bully target with uniforms. This was by a real person on
debate.org stating their opinion on uniforms. I personally agree because i have seen kids at the school
I go to be bullied because they have a stain on their shirt, but they have to wear it because it school
policy. Overall many kids can be bullied because of uniforms and that can cause suicide and and leave
a family wanting to do something about it but can t. Something needs to be done because of this
horrible effect. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the schools i found said that they send their students in a time out, they give them a
warning, also have them change their clothes. At my school you can get suspended if you dis obey the
rule on school clothing. They wouldn t get suspended if they didn t have these rules. ` Many kids have
a rough time buying their school clothes. uniforms cost too much. I found school uniform shoes for
70$! That is a lot of money. I found school uniform shirts for 70$(true). It is very expensive to buy
school clothing. I bought my school clothing for 5$ but i had to buy new pants and a lot of shirts that
is easily more than 30$. My family needs that money for groceries because we are not a wealthy
family and we really need that money. All in all school clothing and uniforms can be very expensive.
Many students and parents believe that uniforms take away students right to express themselves.
Limits Expression,Reduces freedom. I understand that school uniforms reduce bullying. However,
uniforms in public schools are not a good idea. First, uniforms limit the freedom of expression, school
is supposed to be a place where ida s and thoughts flow freely. Second, uniforms can be expensive.
Short of getting corporate sponsors appropriate for schooling, parents would have to pay for the
uniforms which can be cost prohibitive for some families. I believe that school uniforms don t reduce
bullying. Anyway, some kids have to wear

Phases of Wound Healing
(A)Wound healing is a biological process occurring in the human body. In this lecture we had
discussed about both acute and chronic wounds. An acute wound is an injury to the skin that occurs
suddenly rather than over time. It heals at a predictable and expected rate according to the normal
wound healing process. The chronic wounds do not heal in an orderly set of stages and in a predictable
amount of time the way most wounds do.
The normal wound healing process mainly consists of four main stages being haemostasis,
inflammation, proliferation or new tissue formation, and tissue remodeling or resolution. For a wound
to heal well the above mentioned stages should occur in a sequential and orderly manner.
Disturbances, abnormalities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main function of neutrophils is to clear the wound region from being exposed to microorganisms
and remove the debris near the wound area, although they end up producing some proteases and
reactive oxygen species which causes some minor damages. Monocytes appear in the wound after this
and differentiate into macrophages. These macrophages produce cytokines which recruit and activate
specific leukocytes that promote inflammatory response. Macrophages along with neutrophils help in
removing the apoptotic cells. During this process the macrophages undergo phenotypic transition to
stimulate keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and angiogenesis to promote tissue regeneration, thereby
promoting the transition from inflammation to proliferative phase of healing. The next event in
inflammation is T lymphocytes migrating to the wound site. Although their role is not yet clearly
understood, studies using mice models have revealed that delayed T lymphocyte infiltration and
decrease in concentration of these cells may lead to impaired wound healing. Specifically the dendritic
epidermal cells (DETC), due to their unique dendritic morphology, transform keratinocytes and
produce fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF 7), keratinocytes growth factors, and insulin like growth
factor 1, to support keratinocyte proliferation and cell survival.
The third phase is proliferation or new tissue

Essay On Coles Myer
Coles Myer
Coles Myer is Australia s largest retailer with more than 1,800 stores throughout Australia and New
Zealand. The company s aim is to create benefits for every stakeholder by being the best retailer in
every market in which the company operates. Coles Myer is the Australia s largest non government
employer with over 160,000 staff and spends approximately $19 billion a year buying merchandise
and services from over 61,000 suppliers.
There are various factors undermining the decline of Coles Myer performance and shareholder value,
both externally and internally. In this report we will analyse Coles Myer, in terms of major financial,
marketing and organisational drivers presently influencing the company s shareholder value by ...

Clear market positioning is essential for retailing industry. Coles Myer suffers from the lack of focus
and clear strategy due to the fact that the company is simply too big to efficiently mange its division.
More importantly, Coles Myer is trying to operate a combined strategy, the two are, high volume, low
margin retailers (e.g. Kmart and Target) and retail specialists focusing on a single retail category (e.g.
Officeworks, Megamart and Myer Grace Bros). Mead (2003: cited in Reading Pack) commented that,
these two types of retailing require different retailing skills and different corporate and marketing
strategies and separate and therefore, independent organisational structures.
Furthermore, there diversified interest in Coles Grace Bros, Target and Kmart do create a cannibalistic
effect. By offering product discounts with no convergence to the business strategies of the other two,
detrimental effects on the sales performances across all three brands do occur.
3.2 Customer Loyalty
Hannen (2001: cited in Reading Pack) said that keeping existing customers is cheaper than finding the
new ones. However, the retailing industry is a generic market and a lot of effort is needed to build
meaningful relationships with the consumers.
Coles Myer has done very poorly in retaining existing customer in two ways. Firstly, Fly Buys as a
loyalty program is not appealing to consumers as they have to spend a significant amount to attain
rewards. The

each member of the alley each of these ideas are explored, and a truth is revealed about the meanings
of these emotions and how they impact the way humans interact with one another. The stories of
Midaq Alley are each individual, but they come together to weave a bigger picture, a reflection on
both Western and Traditional Egyptian and Arab culture. Through the character of Hamida, a foster
daughter, the role of women and the ideas of power and corruption are all explored. The pimp,

Organic Food Is Better Than Conventional Food
Organic food is a current topic in today s healthful world. There are different sides to the organic food
argument. One is that organic food is much better than conventional food. The other is that
conventional food is just as good as organic and more for your dollar. To some families organic food is
more then they can afford because of the extra work that is required to grow it. People say that organic
food is better because it has no chemicals or fertilizer in it but that is not true because they do put
fertilizer on it just natural fertilizer that is certified by the USDA. Conventional food which to many
people think is not safe because of the chemicals in it but it is just as safe as organic food. Some
organic food is not completely chemical free. Certified organic is the most chemical free but not
completely. According to the Mayo Clinic if the produce has a USDA organic seal on it then it is 95 to
100 percent organic. Products that are completely organic such as fruits, vegetables, eggs or other
single ingredient foods are labeled 100 percent organic and can carry the USDA seal. Foods that have
more than one ingredient, such as breakfast cereal, can use the USDA organic seal plus the following
wording, depending on the number of organic ingredients, 100 percent organic. To use this phrase,
products must be either completely organic or made of all organic ingredients. Organic. Products must
be at least 95 percent organic to use this term (Are They Safe?).

Thelma And Louise Compare And Contrast
The two movies I am going to compare are Thelma Louise and North Country. The sexual
harassments to women both happened in these two movies, but the solutions of the main characters
were different, and the outcomes of them were disparate, therefore, I wondered how did the main
characters in each movie responded to the sexual harassment, and if it is different, why was it? By
focusing on the different situations and personalities of the characters, especially Thelma and Josey, I
m going to compare and analyze the motivations that lead them to make such decisions and the ways
that they dealt with the harassments. Firstly, I want to compare the scenes that happened before
Thelma and Josey were sexually harassed and analyze their similarities. ... Show more content on

In Thelma Louise, Thelma escaped further and discovered herself more, the hue of the film became
lighter at the same time. In the last scene, under the azure sky, Thelma and Louise seated in the car of
the bright sunshine, surrounded by police cars (Thelma Louise, 02:05:27). The director used close up
shots to show how steadfast Thelma and Louise s determination was (Thelma Louise, 02:02:34).
Meanwhile, the melodious and free main title music rose when Thelma and Louise clutched each other
s hand (Thelma Louise, 02:05:27). Finally, the shot frozen in the moment where their car flew off the
cliff (Thelma Louise, 02:05:35). At the end of North Country, when the case of the sexual harassment
fell into the dilemma, Gloria showed the support to Josey. Then, more and more spectators stood up to
show the supports to Josey when the soothing background music rose (North Country, 01:56:28). At
the same time, the director used close ups to show how touched and appreciative Josey was at that
time. Besides, Josey also expressed a feeling that every effort was

  • 2. The History of Iwo Jima Essay Introduction The island of Iwo Jima is just one of the many islands in the pacific that make up the island chain of Ogasawara. The Ogasawara chain of islands are located approximately 750 miles south of Tokyo. In comparison to most of the other islands in the pacific Iwo Jima is relatively small, in fact it is only four and a half miles long by two and a half miles wide. The geographic layout of Iwo Jima consists of a dormant volcano on the northern side called Mount Suribachi and a flat stretch of land to the south. So why is such a small island so important? After the surprise attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor America needed a place to stage aircraft for conducting bombing runs on Tokyo, Iwo Jima provided the best place to host ... Even though he had some buildings built to satisfy his command his primary focus was on the construction of an elaborate system of tunnels underground that connected every part of the island. The General learned that if he mixed the natural volcanic ash on the island with concrete it mad an almost indestructible barrier. All together General Kuribayashi built over eleven miles of tunnels which housed a number of rooms to accommodate all of his needs. On the south side of the island he constructed an airfield for the Japanese fighter planes to use. When America did attack all of the buildings were destroyed just as General Kuribayashi predicted. Deployment The American invasion of Iwo Jima began on February 19, 1945 and continued till March 26, 1945, a battle that only lasted 36 days, yet had some of the most ferocious fighting and casualties ever seen. Execution/Action In an effort to weaken the Japanese defenses located on Iwo Jima America began a bombing raid that started on December 8th, 1944 and lasted for 70 days, there were over 5800 tons of bombs dropped on the island. Three days before the Marines invasion the Navy provided a three day bombardment with naval guns from over four hundred and fifty ships that were massed just off the island; they also launched an additional one hundred airplanes that continued to bomb the island until the Marines assaulted the island on foot. • 6. Augmented Reality Essay The Innovation of Augmented Reality INTRODUCTION In recent years, as the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering developed rapidly, many new technologies and inventions emerged gradually. Among these new technologies, Augmented Reality (AR) has become a popular technique that is considered to have a large potential for the future. This paper will indicate the definition of AR and give a brief introduction of its developing history. It will mainly focus on introducing some different applications of AR technology and give some instances that these applications of AR have achieved currently. Finally, there will be an evaluation of the benefits and contributions of AR, which include a discussion of how this technique influenced the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and society. A standard definition of AR is given by Azuma (1997) that Augmented Reality (AR) is a variation of Virtual Reality (VR). This new technology is about augmenting the real world environment with virtual information to create a mixed reality live view. According to Azuma, there are three common characteristics of AR: the combination of real world environment and virtual information, interactive in a real time and the scenes in 3D environment. The first characteristic states that AR allows the user to see the real world environment combined with the virtual objects. The second characteristic describes that during the use of AR, all the view and scenes are happening in a real time, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Electronic Commerce Electronic Wallets are Secure Introduction The idea for paying for goods and services electronically is not a new one. The search for more efficient ways of doing business is now driving another revolution in the conduct of business and in our concept of money. This revolution is known as electronic commerce, which is the symbiotic integration of communications, data management, and security capabilities to allow business applications within different organizations to automatically exchange information related to the sale of goods and services. With the advent of the electronic age the concept of value was transferred to plastic cards with a magnetic stripe which securely carried personal account information. These cards are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the number of people utilizing the internet increases, the risk of security violations increases with it. It is true that sometimes the cost of protecting the network outweighs the cost of just leaving it unprotected, but it is undeniable that the cost of protecting the network becomes nontrivial as more services such as electronic wallets become available. Some of the threats that stimulated the upsurge for people with the lack of security were compromise of clients financial details (credit card numbers, etc) which may result in the unauthorized transfer of funds, development of a method of obtaining the goods or services without making the appropriate payment and other methods permitting the unauthorized transfer of funds. Regardless of how a payments system is constructed these attacks are always more or less practical although some techniques can virtually eliminate the risk of one or another. The major reason electronic wallets has not yet taken off to its full potential is because, until recently, there has not been a readily available, widely deployed foolproof way of preventing fraud and theft of sensitive financial information. Implementing security involves assessing the possible threats to one s network, servers and information. The goal would be to then attempt to minimize the threat as much as possible without making it difficult for legitimate users to access the information. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As natural consumers, this is a way to buy things that are seen as beneficial for whatever the reason may be. This could include benefitting one s health or well being or simply meeting personals wants and needs. In the United States, buying and selling products is so common that many underlying factors of what goes into the process go unnoticed, up until something goes wrong. As a consumer, you naturally expect that what you are buying is 100% safe, secure, and authentic because most of the time this is the case. The term also covers a failure of a statement or agreement by a seller of property which is a part of the contract of sale, when the truth of the statement is necessary to the validity of the contract (USLegal, 2007). Breach of warranty claims come in two forms an express warranty or implied warranty. An express warranty is one that is explicitly stated from the manufacturer or seller to the consumer. Most express warranties are made in written statements, warning stickers, informational tags, etc. Although, an advertisement or a product sample that demonstrates how the product is properly used may also be used to make an express warranty claim (Rottenstein Law Group, 2010). Contrary to this, an implied warranty is not explicitly stated. Instead, an implied warranty is based on the reasonable expectations of the buyer. For example, when a shopper buys a lamp, they expect it to light up the room without the lightbulb getting so hot that it starts a fire. This would be a reasonable expectation of the ... • 9. General Zaroff s Philosophy In Most Dangerous Game By... General Zaroff s philosophy is one that everyone has lived by ever since the beginning of life and shows that he is a true expert in the field of hunting. In the short story, Most Dangerous Game, by Richard Connell, General Zaroff states that, Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if need be, taken by the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure (pg. 225). This statement that Zaroff spoke when he was with Rainsford can summarize many aspects of the world around us. This type of philosophy can be dated back to prehistoric times such as when life first evolved. Even in the short story, there are many times where this comes to light as a well represented theme throughout the development of the plot. As you can see in the next paragraphs, there are many ways that the story represents this philosophy that are can be seen as you read the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... History is filled with civilizations conquering and being conquered by others which represents General Zaroff s philosophical statement. However, in the short story, Most Dangerous Game, there are also many examples of this idea. First of all, when Rainsford is speaking with Whitney over how animals have feelings and what hunters do, he utters this, Be a realist. The world is made up of two classesー the hunters and the huntees. Lucky, you and I are the hunters (pg 216). As you can see from this statement, it shows that the cycle of life and death is controlled by the hunters that are stronger that prey on the weak. If you are a strong, then you are a hunter that can overcome the weak and rise higher until you reach the top of the food chain. This coincides with Zaroff s philosophy, because it shows that the strong are the ones who live and take the lives of the weaker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With this course providing training in modular force operations for newly selected command designees that enables them to function effectively throughout their command tour it is very important to make sure that the training is substantive. • 12. My Personality And Learning Abilities Learning the Style Exploring more in depth about my personality and learning abilities was honestly quite surprising. It s probably based on the fact that we generalized somewhat false ideas about who we are or how we think we function. Trying to get a better insight about myself, I took several interpersonal surveys along with questionnaires that had many evolutional properties. Some I found too close to spot on, others not so much, and I am not really sure how I feel about the outcome. The first thing to be uncovered was that I am considered more of an auditory learner over the other types listed. Auditory learner, you probably hum or talk to yourself or others if you become bored. People may think you are not paying attention, even though you may be hearing and understanding everything being said. You store information by the way it sounds, and you have an easier time understanding spoken instructions than written ones ( What s Your Learning Style?). I find this to be very true for myself because written instructions can often be miss interpreted. When I was younger in school they always thought I had a reading disability, so for years they had me go to special educational class once a day during the school week. I found myself to be enraged with everyone involved. I know that I am extremely able to do what they were asking of me but had no way to express myself about the matter. However, it was not easy to get the certificate as many people had to apply many times to get the Certification. Another issue was related to the discrimination to the Minamata patients should handle. People would disparage people with the Certification. Catherine and Cathy II are portrayed as examples of both how giving power to patriarchal demands leads to misery and pain in contrast to how resisting patriarchal demands will lead to hope and joy. Catherine views freedom as something unsafe and untameable and following patriarchy as safe and more suitable despite it also constraining her natural ambitions (Garofalo, 2008: 831). Her choice reflects the idea that freedom is undesirable as it dangerously goes beyond social norms and putts her at odds with society (Hanlon, 1996: 506). Giving power to patriarchal demands results in negative outcomes for Catherine s character continued conflict with other characters, depression, sickness, in the end, untimely death. Cathy II, who in her childhood had the idea of freedom kept away from her, constantly attempts to resist patriarchal constructs in order to achieve being free. Cathy II is represented as a tough, strong willed female who opposes what others expect for her, in the way she often uses the word defy (REFERENCE), the way she aims to draw pleasure from the grief of her enemies (REFERENCE) and how she challenges Heathcliff to be physically violent towards her (REFERENCE). William Walton (March 29, 1902 March 8, 1983) never had any students, and due to his highly perfectionist and obsessive nature, he left behind a relatively small body of work. Furthermore, his composition style changed very little over the course of his career, remaining, at times, rhythmically quirky, but for the most part, lyrically Romantic a style that was considered very old fashioned in a musical scene dominated by the more avant garde Benjamin Britten. Particularly after World War II, twentieth century audiences weren t interested in the music of the past of an age that hadn t yet experienced the depth of devastation and loss that they had. In spite of his lack of widespread popularity, Walton was not unsuccessful, as a number of his works have entered the canon of commonly performed classical music. For example, his Viola Concerto, written in 1929, in spite of being rejected by its intended recipient, was taken under the wing of and premiered by composer and violist Paul Hindemith to rousing and lasting success. That piece, in Walton s preferred Romantic style, harkens back to influences of Edward Elgar (1857 1934), particularly his Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (1919). Today, the Walton Viola Concerto is a staple, if not THE staple, of the viola repertoire. Additionally, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, Walton was commissioned to write the coronation march, Orb and Sceptre, and a choral setting of Te Deum for the event. The Te Deum ... Through the Internet, people can interact over greater distances in a shorter period and at less expense than in the past. Since the evolution of the Internet, there is less face to face interaction and more communication via text messages, emails, and online chatting. This social stigma is up for much debate on how it relates to the progression in romantic relationships. This literature review focuses on how the Internet is utilized as a supportive method of courting used by individuals to meet online in hopes of forming a romantic relationship. Counterarguments suggest that online communication expands social interaction because it connects you to a plethora of people at a fast rate. The research of Cooper and Sportolari (1997) was significantly useful because according to experts, the use of the Internet in romantic relationships lowers the pressure of physical attributes, more freedom to meet someone new regardless of gender, and allows you to develop healthy relationships with a variety of people. In contrast, the women of Eastern Asia rapidly joined the work force after the introduction of industrialization and made up a gigantic portion of the labor force. • 37. Graphic Images And Biological Markers Abstract For all neuropsychiatric disorders, there are key graphic images and biological markers, also known as biomarkers, which can facilitate early diagnosis and the formulation of the most efficacious intervention. In sum, biomarkers work similar to a calling card by identifying the symptoms and the impact it is having on the individual. In some cases of depression, there are clear signs that can help clinicians understand the lasting effects on the person by identifying the condition s etiology, ruling out alternative diagnoses, and predicting progression when used in combination with other clinical tools and patient interviews. Biomarkers are indicators of a disease state as they can be used to identify a specific disease, chart its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Together, these different elements will highlight the effects of depression and how they shape the way someone sees the world around them. Outline Of Depression There are a number of different types of depression, all of which interfere with people s day to day lives. Two of the more severe types are major depression and persistent depressive disorder (Johnson Indvik, 2009). These types of depression are generally characterized by feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, low mood, negative attitudes about the self, joylessness, and increased sadness, with the former lasting a few days, weeks or months while the latter persists for two years or more (Johnson Indvik, 2009). A subclinical biomarker is determining the specific signs of depression and how they might affect an individual s behavior. The most notable signs for depression include structural abnormalities in the hippocampus (Fu Costafreda, 2013), decreased left midfrontal gyrus activities, improving right frontal gyrus activation, increased connections between the precuneus seed region and rising left orbitofrontal cortex /paracingulate activation during non win outcomes during a reward processing task (Felder et al., 2012). These elements are showing the long term impacts depression will have on the body. This is taking place through shifting the way the mind functions and how various chemicals are ... • 38. Evolutionary Computing Based Approach For Unsupervised... Abstract Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a stochastic randomized blind search and optimization technique based on evolutionary computing that has already been proved to be robust and effective from its outcome in solving problems from variety of application domains. Clustering is a vital technique to extract meaningful and hidden information from the datasets. Clustering techniques have a broad field of application including bioinformatics, image processing and data mining. In order to the find the close association between the densities of data points, in the given dataset of pixels of an image, clustering provides an easy analysis and proper validation. In this paper, we propose an evolutionary computing based approach for unsupervised image clustering using elitist GA (EGA) a efficient variant of GA that segments an image into its constituent parts automatically. The aim of this algorithm is to produce precise segmentation of images using intensity information along with their neighbourhood relationships. Experimental results from simulation study reveal that the algorithm generates good quality segmented image. Keywords Image Clustering, Evolutionary Computing (EC), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Elitism, Image Segmentation I. INTRODUCTION Clustering is practicable in various explorative pattern analysis, grouping, decision making, and machine learning circumstances, including data mining, document retrieval, image segmentation, and pattern classification [1]. I have never been to a play at the Mixed Blood Theatre, so I was very excited to go and see this play. This play has been mentioned a lot lately by some of my theatre professors, and they said it would be very interesting. They also mentioned to not worry about the bunny too much, but I did. I am very glad I got to see this unique play with its many interesting views. The beginning of the play was very interesting in several ways. Firstly, the choice of dialect took me surprise because of its vulgar nature. I personally enjoyed the use of speech because I find it interesting when people use words freely when they are normally looked down upon. The music that was played gave made another strong impression on me. The title of the song was Bonfire by Childish Gambino, and it set a very interesting mood. It definitely took me by surprise and I did not know how to react in that situation. I just stared with my mouth open and tried to figure out why that song was being played. Another thing that I found interesting was when the actors put makeup and different clothes on in front of us. Seeing the actors start changing into new characters right in front of me made me very intrigued about how people can break the socially constructed ideas of how theatre works. The middle of the play made me confused for a good chunk of the time. The bunny was beyond creepy and I tried to understand what its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Piracy From The Corporate And Public Side However, let s go past the obvious and look at the underlying aversion to digital piracy that people have. We will look at arguments against piracy from the corporate and public side. The average laymen and the CEO both hate digital piracy, but they do for different reasons. The main argument against piracy from companies is: pirating makes them lose money. Companies think that if someone finds a movie online for free, they won t turn around and buy it later. It really comes down to the dollar bills. Arthur De Vany, of the University of California and David Walls, of the University of Calgary conducted a study on the effects that piracy has on revenue. They concluded that for the one movie they studied, piracy directly destroyed $40 million in box office revenue. (14). Imagine that amount of money, and even more depending on the movie, coming about of the big hole in company pockets called piracy. It s no wonder these companies are alarmed. According to a study by Columbia University s American Assembly called Copy Culture, 45 percent of Americans pirate media; and younger demographics pirate more (Mick 2). In response, some companies have gotten creative and put their media through alternatives such as Spotify for music, Netflix for movies and Steam for games. This makes media cheaper and more accessible, while still giving the companies something to stuff their pockets with. However, others refuse to go through the system and they still pirate entertainment. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Phases of Wound Healing (A)Wound healing is a biological process occurring in the human body. In this lecture we had discussed about both acute and chronic wounds. An acute wound is an injury to the skin that occurs suddenly rather than over time. It heals at a predictable and expected rate according to the normal wound healing process. The chronic wounds do not heal in an orderly set of stages and in a predictable amount of time the way most wounds do. The normal wound healing process mainly consists of four main stages being haemostasis, inflammation, proliferation or new tissue formation, and tissue remodeling or resolution. For a wound to heal well the above mentioned stages should occur in a sequential and orderly manner. Disturbances, abnormalities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main function of neutrophils is to clear the wound region from being exposed to microorganisms and remove the debris near the wound area, although they end up producing some proteases and reactive oxygen species which causes some minor damages. Monocytes appear in the wound after this and differentiate into macrophages. These macrophages produce cytokines which recruit and activate specific leukocytes that promote inflammatory response. Macrophages along with neutrophils help in removing the apoptotic cells. During this process the macrophages undergo phenotypic transition to stimulate keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and angiogenesis to promote tissue regeneration, thereby promoting the transition from inflammation to proliferative phase of healing. The next event in inflammation is T lymphocytes migrating to the wound site. Although their role is not yet clearly understood, studies using mice models have revealed that delayed T lymphocyte infiltration and decrease in concentration of these cells may lead to impaired wound healing. Specifically the dendritic epidermal cells (DETC), due to their unique dendritic morphology, transform keratinocytes and produce fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF 7), keratinocytes growth factors, and insulin like growth factor 1, to support keratinocyte proliferation and cell survival. The third phase is proliferation or new tissue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One is that organic food is much better than conventional food. The other is that conventional food is just as good as organic and more for your dollar. To some families organic food is more then they can afford because of the extra work that is required to grow it. People say that organic food is better because it has no chemicals or fertilizer in it but that is not true because they do put fertilizer on it just natural fertilizer that is certified by the USDA.
